So if you have your Bible handy, you might want to get it out. What is amazing is I hear so many people use phrases that they don’t even think about. They’ve heard them so many times that they flow just out of their mouth without even thinking. And yet they’re terribly wrong and incorrect. And I believe we need to be careful what we say if we are not examining what we say. We might say things that are not correct. For example, I hear it all the time.
People say that Joe gave his life to Christ and is saved. Or Susie gave her heart to Christ. And all of that sounds good, but guess what? You’re not saved by giving your life to Christ. You’re not saved by giving your heart to Christ. That is exactly the opposite of what the Bible teaches. The Bible teaches that God is the giver and we’re the receivers. And when you trust Christ, trust that He died and shed His blood to pay for your sin, you receive the gift of eternal life.
Let me give you a great verse, John 1 12. It says to as many as received Him to them God gave authority for you to become the sons of God to those that believe on His name. So you’ll notice in that wonderful verse that God is the giver. We’re the receivers, but whenever you tell someone that they have to give their life to Christ to be saved, it makes you the giver, or that person the giver, and God the receiver, can you see that it’s 180 degrees out of phase?
It is the exact opposite of what the Bible teaches. Nowhere does the Bible say that we give anything to God to be saved. We do. Can save us. And the only way we can be saved is to receive the wonderful gift of God. God again is the giver. We’re the receivers. For example, Romans 6, 23 says the gift of God. The gift of God. The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians 2, 8 says by grace, by mercy, on merit and favor are you saved through faith in Jesus Christ.
And that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. In John chapter 5, 1 John 511, it says, this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. So eternal life is the gift of God, and we simply receive it by trusting Christ as our Savior. And to try to say that you must give God something to be saved is the exact opposite. And obviously that’s a work of self and is absolutely contrary and foreign to the scriptures.
So guess what? This is a matter of life and death. You know if a physician malpractices what happens the patient dies. That’s probably the worst scenario of malpractice for a medical doctor. But guess what? As Christians, when we malpractice, the person goes to hell. That’s far worse than physical death. It is the eternal death, the separation of a person from God in hell, and Christians are malpracticing all over the place. Preachers are malpracticing. It’s amazing. Think about it. Christian preachers, malpracticing, because they are saying that you have to give something to God to be saved when God is the one who is the giver, we’re the receivers.
But when you say you must give your life to Christ, you’re making God the receiver and we’re the givers and that is exactly the opposite. Can you see that? It’s the opposite of what the Bible teaches. The Bible teaches that there’s nothing that we we can do to earn our way to heaven or to deserve heaven or to buy salvation. But in every case it is God who does the reconciling, it is God who does the giving, it is God who provides salvation, and it’s not based upon what we have done, but it’s based upon what he has done for us.
Romans 4 and 5 says it so clearly it says, but to him that work if not. In other words, to the one who does not work, but would believe on Christ who justifies them godly. His faith in Christ is counted for righteousness. So it’s only through faith in Christ that a believer can become saved. When you trust Him as the one who died for you, God saves you. We have lots of all fair questions. We’re going to try to catch as many of those as we possibly can today to try to catch up a little bit.
I’m Dr. Engvenstrom, this is my blind, it’s great to be with you today. We’re going to go to Lassette in Pembroke, Pines, Florida, and Lassette says, why does God allow bad things to happen to people like cancer, the death of a child? I don’t know what tragic accidents, etc. And what do you say to somebody who’s going through it and doubting God’s existence? Well, you have to blame it all, not on the God of the universe, the sovereign God who created the universe on us, but you have to blame it on Satan.
Did you know that Satan is called the God of this world? Under God’s sovereignty, God has allowed Satan to become the God of this world. here before Adam and Eve. He was here on the earth and given the title of the God of this world way back there before the seven days of the recreated week. We believe when the earth was originally created, it was created perfect and inhabited, plants, animals, dinosaurs, and all of God’s angels. How do we know that?
Well, Isaiah 45, 18 says that God, when he He created the earth, created it perfect, he created it inhabited and guess what? It says he did not create it vain. The word vain in the Hebrew is the same word translated void in Genesis 1-2. So God did not create the earth void and without form as you find the earth in Genesis 1-2. That was the result of Satan’s fall when Satan attempted to overthrow heaven and take at third of the angels that were under his control here on the earth and lead an invasion from the earth to heaven and God casts them back down and judge the earth and judge Satan in his angels.
But yet to this very day Satan still retains that title in 2 Corinthians 4-4 he is called the God of this world. And so he still has that title. So when you see things you don’t like in this world you have to blame the God of this world which is Satan. There’s a verse over in 1 John that really got my attention. He used to hear that song. He’s got the whole world in his hands. He’s got the whole world in his hands.
He’s got the whole world in his hands. Well, I used to like to sing that years ago. I read 1 John 5 19 and the Bible says the whole world lies in the hands of the wicked one. That’s Satan. I stopped singing that song. I really, really had a wake-up call there because this present world that you don’t like, that the headlines are so horrifying, is really under the control of Satan. And not until the second coming of Jesus Christ will Satan be taken and bound up and the earth will finally be delivered from the curse and the The earth will be at peace and that’s probably not too far away.
If the rapture happened today, seven years later Christ would come in all of His power, all of His glory. Satan would be taken and bound up and the earth would finally be at peace. But we have to blame Satan because he’s the one who’s the God of this world. So if you don’t like the headlines, don’t blame the God of creation and the God of the universe. the God who is now presently in charge of this world system and that is none other than the devil.
We’re going to go to James now, excuse me, Jason in Ruskin, Florida. He leaves this off air question. At what point after the unsaved person dies, do they learn why they’re in heaven or why they’re going to help? They know instantly, instantly. Second Corinthians 5, 8 for the believer, It says absent from the body present with the Lord. So you’re immediately present with the Lord upon death The same thing is true for the unsafe person absent from the body present in Hades in Flame and fire if you look Luke 16 beginning in verse 19 you see there are rich men who dies and Immediately he’s in flame and torment and he is conscious.
He’s aware of his past. He’s aware of his presence He’s aware of his present state in Flamin’ Torment. He has no second chance. He’ll eventually want him in hell forever, but they know immediately upon death. I tell people that don’t believe in God or don’t believe in the Bible, just don’t stop breathing. The instant that a person dies if they’re an unbeliever becomes a believer. They believe in hell. They believe in heaven. They believe the Bible is the Word of God.
They believe Jesus Christ is the Savior. immediately upon death they discover how wrong they were. We have another offer a question you’re done in Las Vegas, Nevada writes in and he says Jesus said The father and I are one. But then when asked when he would return, he said neither he nor the angels know, but only the father. How do you explain that? Very easily. It’s very interesting. And I discovered this by reading in the amplified Bible. And the amplified Bible, and we have it in stock in our Resource Center here, has the Greek and Hebrew words looked up.
and put right in the text for you so you don’t have to do all that homework. And I happened to be reading it years ago and I discovered something that I would not have discovered probably because who looks up the word but B-U-T in your concordance to look up the original Greek word and see how it should be rendered. But I’m going to read the verse here in Mark’s Gospel, chapter 13, verse 32, where Jesus says of that day and that hour, no man, no not the angels which are in heaven, neither the son, but the father.
Well guess what? I discovered reading the Amplified Bible. All of a sudden the word, but I saw that it could be rendered and should be rendered if not, if not, if not. Let me read it putting that meaning there and it says here of that day in that hour No, with no man. No, not the angels which are in heaven neither the son if not the father And I think that’s the answer obviously Jesus Christ is God and being God he’s omniscient and if he’s omniscient he knows all things and Therefore, how can he be ignorant about when he’s coming back and only the father?
No, but not the son Obviously in John’s Gospel chapter 5, Jesus says, he knows all things at the Father knows and vice versa. So they are both members of the Godhead, eternally existing members of the triune Godhead. And so I hope that answers it for you, Don, out in Las Vegas, Nevada. And that is in the word, but there should be translated, if not. That’s Mark 13 verse 32. If you want to look it up and if you have the amplified Bible, it’ll point that out to you.
Mr. Anonymous calls in and he leaves an offer a question, can the devil enter Christians? And the answer is no. And that’s always been true. And by the way, Judas had Satan enter into him. Why? Judas was not a believer. Judas was not a believer. Judas was not a believer. went to hell because he never trusted Christ as his Savior. And we find that if you look at John 664, it tells us that Jesus said he knew from the beginning who they were that believed not and who should betray him.
And he talks about Judas there being an unbeliever and as an unbeliever we find that Satan could enter in. We find as far as us being believers, God the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in our bodies at the moment we believe. I I’ll tell you, Satan, nor do the demons, would have dwelled in the same body with God the Holy Spirit. And we have a wonderful verse in 1 John chapter 4 verse 4 where it says, Greater is He that is in you than He, Satan that’s in the world.
So Christ or the Holy Spirit is greater than Satan and He’s the one who dwells in us and therefore a believer cannot be in dwelt. and dwelt with the Holy Spirit, no demon wants to be in the same body with God the Holy Spirit I guarantee you. So thanks for that question anonymous, but the devil cannot indwell. Now the devil can influence, the devil can oppress, the devil can do a number of things, but he cannot possess or indwell a believer.
We have Kathy in parish Florida She calls in and leaves this off her question. She says, I heard you say that Jesus made a bona fide offer to the Jews for the kingdom. If Jesus had not been rejected and therefore crucified, how would sin have been paid for? Well, it would not have been paid for. And obviously God in his foreknowledge knew what was going to take place. So we’re just speculating here, but we do know that he did offer to them.
They turned it down. They rejected him. He went to the cross and obviously God knew what was going to take place and that’s why he planned it the way he did. And he’s now turned to us Gentiles during this past 2000 years, but had Christ been received, this past 2000 years would not have occurred. We would never have been born. History would have been totally different. Thank you, Kathy, God Ford new. That man would fall and also that the Jews would reject Christ as their Savior, the first go round.
We have Luan in Branford, Florida calling in and she leaves this off for a question. She says the Bible says it’s appointed unto men once to die. There is also references to prolonging and shortening life. Some say this is a biblical contradiction. Please explain. Well, obviously, we all are to die, but there’s nothing to guarantee that you’ll live out of full life. We know that Hezekiah, because of sin, God was going to take his life early. We know if you read the Old Testament, Hezekiah got his life corrected and he straightened out.
And guess what? God added back the 15 years He was going to take away and Hezekiah lived 15 more years. Many in the New Testament, the Bible describes, had their lives shortened where God took them out before their time. So if you’re a believer, you cannot lose your salvation, but you can lose your life. The Lord might take you home to heaven, sooner than you’d planned on going. their numerous examples. In 1 Corinthians 5 in verse 1 it talks about a man who is living in adultery with his mother, probably his stepmother, and he is proud and puffed up and is not willing to stop.
And so it says there in verse 5 of 1 Corinthians 5 to deliver such a one on the Satan for the destruction of the flesh that the Spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. So the man would be saved when Christ returns, but he would obviously have gone to heaven early. That’s 1 Corinthians 5, 1 through 5. Luanna, I hope that helps. Thank you for calling in. Chuck in Tampa, Florida calls in and leaves this offer a question.
Were any other writings found with an NC scrolls that were not scripture? And the answer is Yes, absolutely. But again, the 66 books that we have in the Bible, 39 in the Old Testament, 27 in the New Testament, were written by authentic spokesperson’s for God. And Peter tells us in one wonderful verse that we’re to believe all of the scriptures, old in New Testament, and he tells us one of the ingredients there, and that is that they’re written by authenticated spokesperson’s for God.
He says here in verse 2 of chapter 3 of 2 Peter that you should be mindful, that I should be mindful. All of us believe we should be mindful of the words W-O-R-D-S, of the words which were spoken to you before by the Holy Prophets. That’s the Old Testament. And of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, that’s the New Testament. So in order to qualify as scripture, a book has to be written by an authentic spokesperson for God, a prophet in the Old Testament or an apostle in the New Testament, and I hope that helps.
We’re going to go quickly now to Matthew in Spring Hill, Florida, and Matthew, welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Hank. Good morning. Hey, I have a question. The parable of the sower, Luke 813. Is that one by the waysider by the Stoney Ground or the one on the rock and they receive the word? They’re all saved except for the wayside. What happens is that they are not fruit bearing. It says here in verse 13, they on the rocker, they which when they hear receive the word with joy and they have no root which for a while believe in a time of temptation fall away.
And obviously they don’t bear any fruit. And of course the last category is in verse 15 where it falls on hearing ears, those that are receptive and hungry and they receive the word of God and bear fruit. So I believe it’s a believer but he doesn’t produce any fruit. Okay. So what does it mean when it says they have no root then? Well, the root being that they don’t get the substance that they need to grow and to be nourished, which is from Christ.
The Word of God is, if you don’t take that in, you can’t just frival up and it’s talking about the Christian life and not about salvation. So the no root there is having to do with the fact that they’re not taking in. And obviously the New Testament tells us that in John 15 that we’re branches in the vine and that Christ says without me you can do nothing. And so as far as fruit bearing you need the nutrients that come from Christ as we feed off of Him and He has written word.
And as a believer if we abide in Him and He abides it us, then we’ll bear much fruit. It says there in John 15. And obviously every believer ought to be in that category. Okay. Also, last two verses of James, I understand, you know, I read your article, Faith Without Works with James, and it’s pretty clear. The only question I have for verse 19 he addresses is the brethren. So I guess that he’s talking to people at our stage, but then he says, any of you hear from the truth and one converts him.
Is that just talking about… believer getting changed back around and it would prevent him from the Lord taking his life and it would prevent him from dying physically as the Lord might chase and take him home. Yes, the word solar means life. So say the soul of their life from death and they will not be. Earlier it talks about people that are sick because of sin and they’ve sinned against other believers. They need to confess that and get it right and the Lord will heal them.
And it’s all my physical consequences here to believers all the way right through verse 20. Thank you Matthew and I hope that helps and we are going to come up on our break here in about two seconds and we’ll come back and do a second half hour of Bibleline. I hope you’ll stay tuned and I hope you’ll maybe call a friend and tell him to tune in because we’ll be back for another half hour. And of course if you have the internet you get the entire program not only right now but any time of day.
The Bibleline will be back in a moment to pledge your support for Bibleline. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well I’m Dr. Englund, it’s great to be with you. We sure are enjoying being with you today here on Bibleline and thank you for tuning in and being a part of the program and I hope that you’ll tell your friends about the program and if you know people in other parts of the country or in other countries of the world, let them know because they can get us on the internet.
The latest country that just logged on is Bhutan, B-H-U-T-A-N and that country is number 156 that have now logged on to the Bible and website. And then it’s absolutely amazing to me is we have people in every part of the world, the only continent that we don’t have anybody logged on from is Antarctica. And maybe there’s some, I guess, penguins or something else that might live there that maybe if they get internet would log on. But I don’t think many people live on the continent of Antarctica, so we’re not really concerned.
But people all over the world on the other continents have all logged on to Bibleline and almost every country has, at least the larger ones all have, and that’s exciting. So pray for us as we reach out. We’re hoping to reach the world if we can. We believe the Great Commission is real that we’re to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, and we have a responsibility to reach out to everybody that we possibly can.
We’re so excited that Bibleline is able to do that, and we meet people all the time that get saved through Bibleline. It’s amazing. I went out early this morning, went to breakfast, and there was a gentleman there that said he listened to Bibleline. It was out in a restaurant last week with my granddaughter. And as I left the people at a table, they said, we sure enjoy listening to you on Bibleline. And we had a technical problem yesterday with our Internet.
We talked to somebody up in Georgia and he said, Dr. Lindstrom, I know him and he listens to Bibleline in Augusta, Georgia on the Internet. So we’re just amazed that we hear these reports just constantly and we’re thrilled that God is using Bibleline to reach out to the world with the gospel. Pray for us. And maybe you’d like to help us. We’re listeners supported, you could call in right now and give a gift by credit card over the phone or you can call and ask for an envelope to be sent and mainly gift a Bibleline, but your gifts are really necessary and an indispensable part of reaching people here on Bibleline.
And we sure do thank you for ordering also from our Resource Center and some people call in from time to time and say, I can get that particular item a little cheaper somewhere else. And we say that’s fine, but you see it’s a means of helping keep Bible and on the air. You might want to think of it as a donation. Here we go with part two now. Hold on.
Bibleline continue in your area. You can just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back for not breaking. This is Bibleline and it’s exciting to be able to be with you. We have so many offer questions. We’ve decided to take a bunch of them the first half hour. power to visit Israel in the Middle East. What an exciting thing. We were just experimenting here and we did an experiment just to kind of get across how small Israel is.
We took the state of Florida and we went on the internet and figured out how many square miles are in Florida. Then we looked up and figured out how many square miles were in the state of Israel and we divided and guess what? We found that you could take eight of the state of Israel and fit them in to the state of Florida. Isn’t that incredible? In other words, Florida is eight times larger than Israel or you could say it the other way around.
Israel is eight times smaller than the state of Florida. It’s a teeny teeny little country. We could put eight Israels in the state of Florida and it isn’t that amazing. And yet the whole world is focused on that country. And the Bible tells us that the whole world will come to war over Jerusalem. Amazing. Isn’t that incredible? I think that we are seeing a Bible that really is indeed the word of God because who would have ever prophesied something like that when Israel is so teeny and yet today we’re not We’re not laughing.
We know that truly we’re in the days when the world is focused in the Middle East and on Jerusalem and truly we can see how the armies of the world could come against Jerusalem as the Bible says. Wow. I don’t know about you, but it gets me excited. I think we’re in the last days as we are living in a time that Christ spoke about in Matthew 24. more, that Israel would become hated above all nations. And we are seeing that anti-Semitism, that hatred all over the place.
And just look at a Benajab of Iran wanting to annihilate Israel. Can you imagine a head of state announcing that they want to nuke and destroy the whole state of Israel, get rid of all the Jews there in the Middle East? It’s amazing. But we’re living in those kinds of times. Well, we’re gonna go ahead and go to the phone lines here where this is Bibleline and we’re gonna go to Feral in Miami and Feral. Welcome to Bibleline thank you for holding over the break Yes, how are you good?
God bless you. I enjoy your show and all the information especially talking about the events leading up to the death the timing of it. I was fortunate enough to fellowship with the Jewish Christian comments They appointed this out and it’s funny that here’s confirmation. My question is concerning women pastor I’m assuming that you know their Christians and felt God called them If in this I guess sort of dynamic, I mean if We’ve come to a knowledge concerning women pastors after maybe you’re under woman pastor Are we to leave?
of the effect al-saw-vation al-saw- may be and work up to me as an issue but i feel that he did a bible but it’s a time and to accept in accordance with the word dot so i guess the question is what happened to be a signal on the one is that a woman pastor well i mean i think you can choose to do that but uh… they are the ones that are in the wrong to uh… be there are no women elders or women deacons or women pastors in the Bible.
God actually intended for men to be those, but the problem is, is that generally they have a tendency to go doctrinally astray because women think more with their emotions than they do with their mind and men the opposite. And so there’s a tendency and the Bible tells us that because it says that Eve was deceived But Adam was not deceived back there in the transgression. That’s in 1 Timothy chapter 2 where it talks about why God doesn’t want women in the pulpit.
Right. And K. Arthur believes you can lose your salvation. And all the other joyous Myers believes you can lose your salvation. That’s terribly wrong. That’s a terribly major. major. Dr. O’Connor, I can’t find any good Bible teachers that are women. They just generally all go off. Many cults have been started by women. So you’re putting yourself at risk under false teaching. It warns in the Bible about that. And wherever you see, and Scofield points is not very well in one of his notes, that whenever you see a woman in the religious arena in the bible it’s always a symbol of false doctrine or or evil and uh…
the last day church in the book revelation is known as the woman the woman the woman the woman the woman the woman in revelation seventeen and i think that’s a tip off as well so i think that the women are smart side women are are wonderful but they’re just not to be pastors and have to be elders or deacons and church leaders But it’s funny you say that because I know that the men do struggle with that. It’s like she’s easier to deal with the man as far as reprimand, so can number 30.
Now maybe that goes in with trying to prove themselves constantly. But even as you pointed out about losing salvation, I mean when God says you were totally saved, then that kind of answers the question there. I mean that means we have to constantly come back and keep doing it. So I agree with you when you’re saying, and it’s hard to get the lawyers to put this in after making some decisions, but I appreciate your answer. God bless you. Okay.
Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you, Farrell. That was Farrell then in Miami. We’re now gonna go to Bill in Pinellas Park, Florida, and Bill, welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Hey, Dr. Hank, how you doing? Good. We’ve got a couple of questions for you here. I was reading in 1st Corinthians chapter 10 of verse 8 where they were talking about 23,000 fell. Yes. And one day and it. and it cross references numbers twenty five one two nine and then and that uh…
twenty five verse nine it says a lot of the difference well let me again tell you why i like the scofield bible at the bottom of my uh… page here in first granddance ten uh… doctor scofield has a note that says numbers twenty five verse nine a discrepancy has been imagined uh… first korean was ten eight gives the number of this in one day but numbers twenty five nine the total number of this in the plague that’s the answer mccall and and that’s why i like the scofill it has all these problems or imagine problems are oftentimes resolve real quickly boom boom boom and the scofill bible denotes your i geared to doctrine and uh…
boom i just opened the page and tells me the answer right here at the bottom. I was just wondering, that makes sense there. Yeah. Well, the question, I thought you talked before about, and I was in there, I was in there just one time and on the windows they list the names of the apoph, that Messiah is listed. Yeah. And I was talking to him and I said that I felt that that was wrong because I’m like you, I believe.
And he was saying that because in Acts where Peter said, you know, we have to get the 12th apostle and he says because they prayed to God to show them who the apostle would be. that that is why Matthias is that proper apostle and he also uses in Matthew 1619 where Jesus says what you bind on earth will be bound or what you bind in heaven will be bound on earth and what you lose. and have a little bit loose on our Peter basically.
Right. Well the Catholic Church of the Blue Peters infallible as they believe the popes are, which is totally not true. Peter was wrong on a number of occasions and here he was out of order. If you read Acts 1-5, Jesus said that they were to wait between that period when Christ would ascend there after 40 days of showing himself alive after the resurrection and the 50th day when Pentecost would come and the Holy Spirit would come and into all the believers.
He was not told to conduct business, he was not told to elect an apostle. Between that forty-day, the ascension of Christ and the fifty-day, the ascension of the Holy Spirit, Peter decided to act on himself on his own. To like this man, and he must have been a nice guy. But obviously, Paul, the rest of his ministry, had to defend his apostle’s ship, because of what Peter did there in error. For example, if you read Galatians 1, just one example, read all the Epistles.
And notice Paul starts out every Epistle almost with a defense. He says, Paul, Galatians 1-1, an apostle. And then he says, not of men and neither by man, but by Jesus Christ But by Jesus Christ and God the Father. So here we find, he says, I wasn’t elected by any group of men. I wasn’t appointed by some committee that Peter organized. I was elected by Jesus Christ and God the Father to be an apostle. And so I think that tells us pretty plainly.
Plus you read nothing more in the Bible about Matthias, except in that passage here in Acts 1 where Peter likes him and he must have been a small guy, but he wasn’t the right man. Boy, see, I agree and I said that to him there about that, that he was chosen by men and not by God. and that’s when he threw that one verse at me about what you bind on earth will be bound in heaven. I believe you have the right answer on that.
Thank you very much. The Catholic Church does a lot of that. For example, I just got back from Israel. And if you go to Jerusalem, they have two different churches where they swear Mary was buried. There’s a church that I visited in Ephesus, Turkey where they have a church, a Roman Catholic Church where they say Mary is buried. That’s probably the likely one. Then the Catholic Church also teaches that Mary never died and was ascended to heaven like Christ.
Then when you try to ask them what’s true, they say all are true. I mean, it’s craziness. I mean, something’s got to be wrong there. They can’t all be true. But that’s the kind of nonsense we get sometimes. And they got themselves into a bind by saying that their decisions are infallible and then they wind up contradicting themselves and then they just say it’s every bit of it’s true nothing is false and obviously you know something’s got to be wrong here.
So anyway Peter was wrong and Peter did not follow instructions and the Bible is always good about letting us see the flaws of our heroes in the Bible that Peter made mistakes. was one of the big mistake city made we’re not going to go to mike in largo florida and mike welcome uh… to uh… bible and you’re on the air it’ll mark are you there yes you’re on the air ok thank you uh… i have a real quick question i i listened to you all the time but sometimes i make a mistake of turning on the radio a little bit before you and uh…
i i got one right between the eyes The pastor said that if you don’t know the exact amount of your salvation, you’re not saved. I’m always not. That’s certainly not true. I can tell you what summer. I can tell you what night of the week because I attended a Bible study that I got saved at the minute was held on particular night of the week. But I really can’t tell you. And I know I’m saved. And that’s the important thing is to know that you’ve trusted Christ as your only hope of heaven but to say you have to know the exact day or hour is nonsense that is not true at all.
Because it sounded like you knew exactly what I started thinking. No I know that I got saved on Bible study I attended but I really can’t go back and look at the calendar and tell you exactly what date on the calendar it was. I know what night of the week it was. I know it was in the summer right after I graduated from high school but I have to reflect back now and at the time i didn’t uh… recorded and i didn’t it didn’t seem significant for me to know that and i don’t remember that that’s great thank you very much i i’d just it really for some of the reason i i try not to listen too much about what i think it all says because they don’t usually back it up like you do and uh…
uh… it just for some of the kept on my nerves you know i’m and i am i i’m sure i am since I started listening to you, I’ve been positive. Yeah. Thanks a lot. You’re sure welcome. And sometimes I just don’t understand. But basically what here is what happens, I believe, is preachers preach their experience rather than the word of God. I remember clearly as a young believer sitting under one pastor and he said, that unless you felt the weight of your sin, unless you felt the burden of your sin, unless you took that load of sin and carried it forward to the altar and laid it at the feet of Jesus, you couldn’t be saved.
And I said, well, I don’t know how you can lay it at the feet of Jesus since he’s in heaven, but also How do you take your sins anywhere? I mean, obviously, we don’t have the capacity of unloading our sins. Only God could do that. And Christ took our sin and laid it upon Himself. And He died on the cross and paid for our sins. It’s not our responsibility to take our sins anywhere. God took our sin and laid it upon Christ at the cross and paid for it.
It was buried and came back from the dead. But apparently they imagined things or they preached their experience and say that you have to cry, you have to have sorrow, you have to do this, you have to do that, and they’re preaching maybe the experience that they had, but that’s not going to be true for everybody. And for me, the night I got saved, it was rather a business deal. I heard the truth. I said, God, that makes good sense.
I’ll take you upon it. I trusted Christ and walked away. But little did I realize God, the Holy Spirit would get ahold of my life and bring me to my knees were I dedicated my life to serving, but the night I trusted Christ I didn’t have any sorrow and I didn’t have any tears and I wasn’t emotionally disturbed or moved. I simply knew I heard the truth, I believed it, I was saved and later God worked on me to a point where a year later I dedicated my life to Christ.
So I can’t make that everybody’s experience nor can they make it their experience how they came to know the Lord everybody else’s experience everybody’s going to be different and we as long as we trust Jesus as the only hope of going to heaven we’re saved because salvation’s in what Christ did for us not in what we do for Him or how we respond when we trust Christ we are saved well I’m going to go to Anne in St. Petersburg and she has an offer questions so I’ll get this one first Corinthians 15 35 through 58.
What will our bodies be like? Well there it says they will be uniquely individual so everybody will be different one from another but we also apparently will be recognizable because our bodies will be like Christ’s body and we know when he came back from the that they recognized him and so will be recognizable. We also know that it will be flesh, but not necessarily have blood in our bodies. We know that Christ when he came back from the dead, Luke 24 said that, touch me and handle me for a spirit that does not have flesh and bones as you see me have.
Normally you would have the expression flesh and blood, but all of Christ body’s blood poured out upon the ground as he died and shed that blood to pay for our sins. So he talks about his resurrection body being flesh and bones but not flesh and blood. So we assume that we won’t need blood in our new resurrection bodies. We’ll have to wait and see. But on and on we know that Christ in his resurrection body could pass right through a locked door or through a closed wall into a room that is secured and Christ appeared in that upper room after the the resurrection and he went right through a locked door or through the wall.
So we’ll be able to do that. We’ll also be able to travel about Christ. Went to heaven and came back several times. I believe they’re right after the resurrection and that will be not an issue either. I think we’ll travel through space. In fact, at the Raptor, we’re going to go up through space without a rocket or spaceship. The only way that’s possible is to have our new bodies. And we find that at the resurrection or at the rapture when we get our resurrection bodies will be transformed on the way up.
And then we’ll wind up meeting Christ in the air and going on to heaven. And then coming back and re-entering the earth’s atmosphere as Christ comes back and all of his power and all of his glory re-enters the earth’s atmosphere and comes back and sets up a kingdom here where he’s king of kings and lord of lords and rules over the whole earth. So Anna tells you a little bit, but you will have a recognizable body and it will be in the prime of life.
Christ was 33 years of age, so I believe in appearance will all be about 33 years of age. You will not appear old if you’re older or nor will you appear younger. If you’re younger, everybody will have a body about 33 years of age in appearance. We have Rich in Sarasota and he leaves this software question, somebody told me the Bible is not to be read literally. Should or please state how we should read the Bible literally? Well, obviously whoever you’re listening to there is incorrect.
Jesus believed in a literal Bible. In fact, in many of his presentations, he builds a whole argument on whether a noun is singular or plural or on the tenths of a verb and I think one interesting passage that I’ll leave with you is in Matthew 5 where Jesus said this about the He says in verse 17 of Matthew 5, think not that I’m come to destroy the law or the prophets. That’s a phrase that sweeps the entire Old Testament.
He says I’m not come to destroy but to fulfill. So he talks about it being literally fulfilled. Then he says in verse 18 of Matthew 5, for verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass one jot or one tittle. Let me just stop for a moment. In the Hebrew alphabet there are 22 characters and the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet is called a jot. And the smallest marking of a letter equivalent to the dot over the I in the English alphabet is the tittle.
So what Jesus is saying here, not one letter or even the smallest marking of a letter shall in any wise pass from the Bible till all be fulfilled. So if Christ tells us that every letter and every marking of a letter in the original manuscript was set down exactly as God would have it be set down. Obviously he’s talking about a literal Bible and how that he was going to fulfill those passages, not do away with them, but he would literally fulfill all the prophecies.
And yesterday on our program we talked about in John 19 where they didn’t break a bone in his body that the prophecy back in Psalm in the 35 would be fulfilled. They had the soldier, pierced his side with a spear, and a prophecy was fulfilled that they would look upon him whom they pierced. And prophecy after prophecy was literally fulfilled. There is no reason to believe that we have to just take the Bible in a way that is not literal.
It is quite plain that all scripture is given by inspiration of God. Rich I hope that helps down in Sarasota. Thank you for that question. Linda in Clearwater calls in with this offer question. She says what exactly does it mean? One will be taken and the other left in the field. Is this before the three and a half year tribulation? This is after the tribulation. It’s in Matthew 24 verse 40 and 41. And we find this talking about the second coming, not the rapture.
And the one that is taken is taken in judgment and killed, and no unbelievers will enter into the Millennial Kingdom. But the ones that are left are left to live into that thousand year Kingdom. So if you’re an unbeliever, you’ll be taken and killed at the end of the Tribulation period when Christ returns. But if you are a believer, you’ll be left to enter into the Millennium. Hope that helps, Linda. If you notice the verse before that verse 39, it says, the people of that time were busy before the flood, and they were eating and drinking and so on and so on, and they knew not until the flood came and took them away.
The phrase took them away. It took the unbelievers away and they drowned. And it says, social, the coming of the Son of Man B. When Christ comes back, the ones taken are taken in judgment and killed, the ones that are left to live in the millennium. We have now anonymous from Jacksonville, Florida. Anonymous, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, I’ll ask the question and hang up. I’m trying to give an answer to a nonbeliever. I’m not able to give the proper answer.
It was asked to me over the Easter holiday, why did Jesus wait for the third day to resurrect? Why the nonbeliever wanted to know why he didn’t do it the same day or the very next day that if he was really God, why did he leave himself in the grave for three days? I wasn’t able to give anything other than he was in Haiti’s preaching to the people, but if you have something different, I could tell this person that would be good and let me hang up and listen.
Thank you, sir. All right. Well, again, even today we have people criticize and say, well, he just feinted. He didn’t really die. You know, when a person is dead three days, it’s quite a miracle for them to come back from the dead. into the funeral earlier, let’s say, last week. And then this week, three or four days later, that person comes walking up your walk and knocks on your front door. You’re going to be freaking out because you know that’s a genuine resurrection.
If the body’s still in the casket and rises up, you say, well, maybe they made a mistake. And sometimes that’s happened where somebody really didn’t die. They’re still alive and they awaken. But Jesus was fully dead and he proved that he was God in the flesh by bringing that body that had been dead for three days Back to life. I hope that helps, but I really believe that Just like with Lazarus he was dead four days when Christ called him out of the grave He waited those four days because the people knew that by that time he stunk his body was Corrupting and it would be an awful stench and they didn’t want him to roll the stone away and obviously that was a great miracle.
He came back to dead from the dead after four full days. Well, this is my blind. We have to run the end of the program is coming up, but if you Good. Would you pray about helping Bibleline? Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed today. This is Bible and I’m Dr. Anchlinschram and this is Tuesday and we’ll be back again tomorrow but it’s exciting every day. I think every day the program is different because of you, the audience, they call in with your questions and also leave them off here. If you have a question, you can leave it off here. If you want or you can call in next to be live and we’ll be back tomorrow to catch your live questions.
Again, we’re listeners supported. We could use your help. This is a tough time in our country, and there has been a downside in giving, and obviously that’s understandable. But if you could help us to catch up that shortfall and keep Bible enrolling, that would be great. It’s you that keep us going and growing, and it’s your gifts that make that possible. God bless all of you who give and pray. I tell you, you’re my heroes. You’re the ones who make it possible.
That’s why I really love to meet our audience, not because you give to the Bible and program, but because we’re connected. We really are. And I believe that we have a real and true partnership with our listeners because we don’t have any other means of keeping this program going. So pray for us. And I want to thank you in advance for your gifts, your prayers, and your notes of encouragement. They really mean a lot when we open them and find people tell us how they have benefited so greatly and they’re learning and growing and many have gotten saved, many have gotten back into the word, many have dedicated their lives, some have gone into ministry and into missions and we’re excited about all of that.
You might want to call in and notice some of our resources. We have now an extra large print, Strong’s Incordance. new and a number of other books that are powerful. We have the Jameson Fossil Brown commentaries, the Jay Verda McGee commentaries. Those are the two that I really recommend and we have them for a real good discount price and you might want to add that to your library. I got a run but keep looking up Jesus is coming and tell your friends about Bible and watch and listen to us on the Internet.
