Monday through Friday as we come to you from our studios here in Tampa, Florida at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor. You have yet a chance to come by, come and visit us. We have our resource are open during the week from 8 to about 3 in the afternoon, Eastern Standard Time, and you can always come by on a worship day, and we’d love to have you come and join us. You’re always welcome to order. Any of the teachings we have, and a lot of people have found them very, very helpful.
We have a number of standalone CDs on the holiday season here about Lent, how there is no Lent in anybody’s Bible and also the myth of the good Friday crucifixion that Christ was really crucified on Wednesday. And then alsoWARN the fact that Christ rose at sundown since he was placed in the grave at sundown and said he’d be in the grave 72 hours. Christ had to rise at sundown. We’re going to have here at Calvary Community Church where I pastor a sundown service as opposed to a sunrise service because we believe that’s when he came back from the dead.
We may be the only church in America doing that, but definitely we believe it’s right. And it has a nice sound to it, doesn’t it? Sundown service. We’re still going to celebrate the resurrection on Resurrection Sunday. And by the way, I recommend we don’t use the E word because the E word is about the mother of Baal. That’s right, Astaroth, short form, Astar, Easter is the English form of the name of the mother of Baal, and I don’t celebrate Easter.
I celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ again from the dead. I’m trying to get as many people as I can to get rid of the E word and use the R word. When people say I’m going to celebrate Easter, I say why would you want to do that? That’s the mother of Baal. I celebrate Jesus and His resurrection from the dead. How about you? So what do you do with that day? Well, I call it resurrection day. And what about the candy for the children?
Well, I call it resurrection candy. What about the music? It’s resurrection music. What about the dresses that people might wear that are special to their resurrection dresses? What about, you know, whatever it It is. You just slip in that R word instead of the E word and you’re right on target. Anyway, good to be with you today. I’m Dr. Englund, this is Bibleline. We have some offer questions that have already been called in. We had a couple more countries added to our internet.
People looking in at our internet from other parts of the world and of course we’re excited now. We’re up to 133 countries that have logged on to our website. The first thing you’ll see is a video presentation of the gospel that I give. It’s only a short six minute presentation or seven minute presentation. So far. Between five and six thousand people have looked just at that video isn’t that exciting? So we know we’re getting people saved through the internet, through the radio programs, and through the television programs that Bibleline is producing.
We hope that you’re enjoying Bibleline each and every day as we come to you out of our studios in Tampa. We’re going to take a look at the Bible. Do you have your Bible handy? Get it out. I’m going to look at Matthew chapter 12, verse 38, certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered saying, Master, we would see a sign from the, and he answered and said unto them, an evil and an adulterer’s generation seek after a sign, and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah.
What is so interesting is that Jesus takes one of the most difficult to be believed stories in the Old Testament and links it with his own death, barrel, and resurrection. So if the story of Jonah is not true, then the story of Christ is not true. You know, there are a lot of liberal pastors that do not believe that the story of Jonah is real. They say it is a myth. And what does that tell you about their teaching then?
And obviously they’re not connecting the dots because if Jonah is a myth, then Christ is a myth. And obviously you can tell a lot of persons theology by what they believe about Jonah. if they don’t believe the story of Jonah. Then obviously, they must not believe Christ because Jesus speaks about Jonah as being a real person and being a prophet. Notice he says here, there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. Jonah was a prophet of God, he was a real person, and he was indeed swallowed by a fish.
But what is interesting is that most people get the story wrong. Did you know that Jonah died in the fishes belly? And therefore he became a perfect type of the death and the barrel and the resurrection of Christ. Look at verse 40 with me if you have your Bible open to Matthew chapter 12. It says as Jonah was three days and three nights in the fishes belly, social as son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Wow. So there you have it. Jesus would be in the grave three days and three nights and his soul descended into the lower parts of the earth. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4, 8, through 10. And there he announced liberty to the believers of the Old Testament who were waiting for their sins to be paid for. They were in a place called Paradise. Paradise used to be in the heart of the earth. Jesus told the dying thief in Luke 23 43, today thou shalt be with me where?
In paradise. And here Jesus says in Matthew 12 40 that he’d be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. I don’t know about you but I had the childhood picture in my mind from what I was taught in my church that Jonah was swallowed by this fish and somehow Now there was a pocket of air in the fish’s stomach and Jonah sat a little table with a candle on it and there was some pictures hung on the stomach wall of the fish.
And Jonah just kind of twiddled away the time for those three days and three nights until finally he’s delivered. Well nothing could be further from the truth. is not what the Bible says, but the Bible tells us that Jonah was dead. He died in the fish’s belly. First of all, it says in verse 17 of Jonah chapter 1, now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. Now it definitely was not a whale. The word whale is used in the King James and Matthew, but the Greek word really means a large fish, so it was not of whale.
People have picked whales and the King James translators I think picked a whale because they thought well maybe because they come up to the surface often and get air maybe there was a bubble of air in the whales belly and that Jonah somehow could therefore survive and they’re looking for some kind of a way of Jonah staying alive three days and three nights in the fish’s belly. They haven’t read the story of Jonah very well because Jonah died in the fishes belly.
Notice if you will, chapter 2 of Jonah in verse 1, it says, then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fishes belly. The word belly there is a Hebrew word that means abdomen. And this of course was Jonah’s first prayer. He was still alive. He was inside the fishes belly and he prays out of the fishes belly. Then verse 2, it says, I cried by reason of of my infliction unto the Lord and He heard me, and then it says, out of the belly of hell.
And it really should read, she-o-l is the Hebrew word. And it’s that hollow place in the heart of the earth where the departed dead went. And the word belly here in verse two is a different word in the Hebrew than the word belly in verse one. The Hebrew word for belly in verse one is an abdomen, which is in the fishes’ abdomen is where Jonah was alive and prayed his last herb before he dies. And then he prays secondly out of the heart of the earth, out of Sheol, and the word belly in verse 2 is a word that means a hollow place.
There is a hollow place, an empty place, right in the heart of the earth the Bible tells us, and that’s where the believers were, that is where Paradise is. And so the only way Jonah could pray out of the hollow place of sheal is to die because there’s no other way to get to sheal except that you die. When you read down in the chapter here you’ll see that he says in verse 6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains.
Now the bottoms of the mountains you know that’ll take us you know the earth’s crust varies in depth about 8 to 12 miles and so the mountains that rise up you know high into the sky. The roots of those mountains, the bottoms of those mountains go bound down as much as perhaps 12 miles. And then that whole surface of the earth is floating on the molten interior of the planet which is called magma, this molten rock. And Jonah went down to the bottoms of the mountains.
He went down into the heart of the earth, he had to die for that to happen. Are you hearing this? You know, I was taught wrong all my life. I was taught that Jonah was in that something like Pinocchio. And by goodness, the Bible is not a story of fairy tale here. This is real. And by the way, if you don’t believe the story of Jonah, then I question what you believe about the rest of the Bible, because many pastors I know don’t believe the story of Jonah.
and I just write them off as liberal theologians who don’t believe much else. You know, the denomination in the time of Christ that didn’t believe in the resurrection and didn’t believe in angels and didn’t believe in the spirit world, they were called the Sadducees. And I think the name really tells us a lot about those folks. They were sad, you see, because if you don’t believe in life after death and you don’t believe the Bible, you are sad. Sad, sad, sad.
They were sad, do you see? That’s for sure. In verse 6 of Jonah chapter 2 it says, I went down to the bottoms of the mountains, the earth with her bars was about me forever. Jonah says he’s imprisoned in the heart of the earth. Incredible, isn’t it? What a passage here. Yet Jonah was resurrected from the dead. It says, yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God. It’s a beautiful picture of the death of the New Barrel and Resurrection of Christ.
The Bible says in John chapter 1 verse 17 that he was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. Jesus said he’d be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. And as Jonah’s body was in the tomb of the fishes belly and his soul went down into the heart of the earth, Christ’s body was placed in the tomb of a rich man and his soul went down into the heart of the earth to paradise.
And on the third day, he emptied that place out and took all the believers of the Old Testament to heaven. He came back up into that tomb and re-entered that body, and that body was resurrected from the dead. Just like Jonah, his body was dead in the fish’s belly, but his soul went down into the heart of the earth. And after the three days and three nights, Jonah comes up out of the heart of the earth and re-enters that body.
And so the body in the fishes belly was a picture of Christ’s body in the tomb. And Jonah going to the heart of the earth was a perfect picture of Christ and what he did when he went down to paradise. And there he met the dying thief. He said to the dying thief, today thou shalt be with me in paradise. What happened was Old Testament saints couldn’t enter heaven because they had what I call a layaway salvation. They couldn’t take it home, couldn’t enjoy it until their sins were paid for, and they were not paid for until Christ died on the cross of Calvary.
And so it wasn’t until Calvary that those saints could really enjoy salvation. And Christ went down into the heart of the earth. He proclaimed liberty, according to Isaiah 61, to those captives, those people that were waiting for their sins to be paid for. And then he opened up Paradise and took it up to heaven. And now according to 2 Corinthians 12, 3, Paradise is in heaven itself. If you died in the Old Testament as a believer, you would have been absent in the body, present in where Jonah went.
And the earth would have enclosed you. You would have been at the bottoms of the mountains in the heart of the earth in this hollow place called Shiel. And then Jesus of course now took them to heaven. This side of the cross, guess what? We don’t go to the heart of the earth anymore. We go straight to heaven. We’re absent from the body, present with the Lord, 2 Corinthians 5 and 8. And that’s got to be good news. You know, the apostles, Creed is wrong and says that Christ went into hell.
He did not go to hell. He did go to Hades where Paradise was. And Paradise was in Hades or the equivalent Hebrew word was she-o, Hades is a Greek word for the same place. And there, he didn’t pay for any sins, but he liberated all of those Old Testament saints and took them up to heaven. So now that paradise is in heaven. Read it for yourself. It’s in the Bible. I never was told this, but Jesus died, was buried, and his soul went down into the heart of the He came back to the tomb and got that body and resurrected it three days later.
Just like Jonah died and his body was entombed in the fishes belly. So did Jonah come back and re-enter that body and was cast out on the shore and went on to preach in Nineveh. I’m Dr. Englunds from Mrs. Bibleline. Hopefully you found that interesting. And by the way, the important thing is that you trust that Jesus died for you. And when you trust that he made a full payment for your sin at the cross, God saves you. And you could be sure of going to heaven.
Isn’t that great? Well, we’re going to go to the phone lines. The phone number here at Bibleline is 1-800-576-3771. Give us a call. We already have Fred in Sarasota waiting on the line. So we’re going to go to Sarasota, Florida, and we’re going to talk to Fred. Fred, welcome to Bibleline Year on the Year. A question about the book of Acts. Sure. Now, in Acts, I believe it’s chapter 2 and chapter 20, maybe other places as well. It says that the believers got together and broke bread.
Is that referring to a communion act like Jesus did in the Last Supper? Exactly. Or is it just getting together for a meal? No, it was the communion observance, the remembrance of Christ, death at Calvary. And they broke the bread as Christ gave thanks, and then broke the bread and said, take This is my body which is broken for you. They commemorated the fact that Christ died and was buried and then on the first day of the week When they gather together the fact that he rose again from the dead after having Encrassified so that was typical the early church practiced that on every Sunday and It was not to gain salvation.
There is no saving value in doing that But it was a remembrance made of what he did for us and the fact that he had to give his life and his body had to be pierced and broken by those soldiers driving the spikes through his hands and through his feet and then shed his blood in order for us to be same. Is it your opinion? Do we should we practice that every Sunday or should we do that every day or should we do that once a month?
You know, First Corinthians tells us as often as you do this so the Bible leaves it kind of open for believers to choose how often to do it. In the early church they did it every Sunday. In my church here we do it once a month. We chose to do that because we didn’t want it to lose its value by just becoming a ritual to people because sometimes in our days right now that we’re living in not a lot of persecution upon us we might just tend to lose the value of it.
And I think to some churches do it, you know, quarterly and some do it twice a year. I think that’s too long to wait. But I think if things get tougher in our country as we approach the Lord’s return and it certainly could happen, then we might step it up and do it more often than what we do it. But it says basically in 1 Corinthians 11 you can read there, it says as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you do show or proclaim or give testimony to the fact that Jesus died and is coming again.
It’s a great passage and it’s several times there it mentions as often as you do it So it doesn’t set a certain number of times that the believer should do that But the early church did do it every week Alright, great. Well, thank you very much. Now one more question. I heard you talking about Shiel and Hades. Do you think that has anything to do with or is related to the Catholic doctrine of purgatory? No, I don’t think so at all.
I think that they totally invented that on their own as they have invented so many doctrines. That really is a pagan doctrine. It was around pre-Christ and in 3 21 AD when Constantine declared a world Christian, these pagan belief systems were wed into Christianity and Purgatory is a totally different ballgame. The people in Hades and Paradise weren’t paying for any sin, they were at a place of comfort and Christ simply delivered them out of there. Now the unsaved are in the other part of the heart of the earth there where they’re in Flaming Torment.
They will remain there until after the thousand year of Christ. Then Revelation 20 says that Hades delivers up the dead which were in it, which are the unsaved dead at the end of the millennium. And then there are judged according to their works, a silent degree of punishment and cast into hell. All right. Thank you very much, Eucharist. Oh, you’re very welcome. And that was Fred down in Sarasota, Florida. The Catholic Church encourages praying for the dead. I don’t know if you read the paper this past week, but a group of nuns in the church, encouraged people to pray for this nun that had Parkinson’s disease, and they prayed to John Paul II, who’s already dead.
And supposedly he answered their prayers and healed this nun, and now that’s the miracle needed to be, uh, uh, uh, be edified so he could go through the process of becoming a saint. You know, it’s forbidden in the Bible to pray to the dead. And the present pope claims that he’s praying to John Paul the second to guide him into being a good pope here. And, uh, what is this nonsense about praying to the dead? The Bible says we’re forbidden to pray to the dead.
And, uh, and And yet the Catholic Church practices necromancy and praying to the dead and doctrines that are forbidden by the Bible. Absolutely wrong. There’s only one to pray to, and that’s God the Father, and the Bible says there was only one way to get through to him. First Timothy 2.5 says there’s one God, and there’s one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. So only one way to heaven, if you wanna pray, You’re not going to get through unless you dial up through Jesus.
He’s the one mediator. There’s not another mediator. Past deceased people are not able to hear your prayers nor answer them. We are really living in a time when false doctrine is everywhere. And people are violating the Bible left and right. We’re going to go to Nila in Lakeland, Florida. nyla welcome to my blood on your own ear yes uh… good morning uh… this one calling about the fella who just uh… called you about the breaking of bread yes uh…
we were attending a church here in like one where they were having the community service every sunday and they were using eleven bread now that trouble does well eleven bread obviously is a violation because the use the eleven bread which book of the sinlessness of christ levin is a simple sin And that would bother me too. Apparently they missed the whole picture. That Christ was sinless and his sinless body was broken for your sins and mind at the cross.
And I also believe that we shouldn’t use wine. The Bible, every time the Lord’s Supper is mentioned, it talks about the fruit of the vine, that fresh fruit. And if you use wine, in order for grape juice to become wine, you have to go through a corruptive process called fermentation. And so again, you lose the type. I believe the picture there is Christ blood was sinless and therefore use the first juice from the vine and to use wine, you’ve lost again the fact that Christ was not only was his body sinless, but his blood was sinless.
And I would disturb me too, but hopefully they don’t get a whole lot else wrong, but sometimes when they get those things wrong, they’re not paying attention to the Bible and they might get other sacrificings wrong as well. that occurred to me when three elders left that concern that enough to think we better move on yeah i think so now all right well thank you for your call that was not in lakeland florida and the uh… elements as you study the bible there’s never a verse that ever says that wine was used in the lord supper it always says the fresh The truth of the vine and I believe it violates the picture if you use wine because, again, you have to go through a corruptive process fermentation to become wine.
And that destroys the picture of Christ’s sinless body and sinless blood as Christ was the sinless Lamb of God that died to pay for the sins of the world. We’re going down to Fort Lauderdale. We’re going to talk to Elise. Welcome to Bibleline and thanks for calling. Good morning, Pastor. How are you good? I’m good. Listen. I listen to you all the time and your show is very rewarding to me I’m a newborn Christian. Amen and My question is I really would like to know um Is there anything in the Bible that I could read that will help me to understand where did all of the Prejudice’s nest between colors of skin started.
Is it anything that I can read that will let me know that maybe this? Is there something that just started happening in later years? I think it’s always been around. You know, you find that in Genesis, probably at the Tower of Babel is when the languages were changed and the races were started and probably the skin color was changed as well. It doesn’t say anything about the skin color, but definitely there’s always been prejudices. We see that in John 4, that Christ spoke to the woman at the well.
She was a Samaritan and the Jews were shocked that she would have any dealings with a Samaritan. They didn’t normally do that. Also we find that Peter in Acts chapter 10, the Lord had to teach him that he was also prejudiced, wouldn’t deal with any Gentiles. And there’s always been racial problems. And amazingly the Bible said in the last days that would be one of the signs of Christ’s return that there would be race against race, which is that the Greek word is ethnosaurus, or ethnic groups, and we see that around the world.
There’s all different kinds of ethnic tension today between different racial groups, and that’s a shame. God’s the love of the world, all of us. And definitely we’re all brothers and sisters in Christ. We’ve got to take a break here, so stay tuned. We’ll be right back. A Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alright, it’s wonderful to be able to be with you every day and this is Dr.

We’re located right next to Tampa’s airport and we always invite guests to come by and say hi. If you’re ever in the area, please do come by and meet us. Of course, you can come out to a worship service on a Wednesday or Sunday morning or Sunday evening. We would love to have you do that.
Well, we have here a number of offer here. Questions John calls in from Sarasota off the air. He says a prophet came to the church to speak about revival and said the first 10 people to come to the altar to give money would receive a special blessing. Be careful, be careful, John, because the Bible tells us that there are no prophets today. 1 Corinthians 13, 8 through 10 says the gift of prophecy would cease when the New Testament record was complete, and so watch out for any so-called modern-day prophets.
This is scary because really what it is is more or less fortune-telling where they kind of along the line say that you’re going to meet a tall and dark and handsome stranger, or you’re going to fall into some money or something else is going to happen to you. A blessing will come and it’s very temporal. The real gift of prophecy in the Bible dealt with the big issues like when is Christ coming back? What will he do when he comes back?
The event of the rapture. It’s obviously Christ coming back part way to the earth. It’s snatching out the believers and then the tribulation period will follow and the second coming of Christ and then the millennial kingdom of Christ and and those things are all now recorded in the scriptures so we don’t need any Prophets today. Watch out. That’s like going to the fortune teller down the street or the person who has that crystal ball that can kind of look into your future.
Do not believe it. No prophets today. The prophets are gone. We’re going to take some more phone calls. We have David, first time caller apparently from St. Petersburg on the line and David, welcome to Bibleline. Hi, I have two questions please. Okay. The first has to do with the idea of being, I’m fully aware that salvation is a free gift of God. But several places in the Bible, it talks specifically about being called like to Romans 1, 6 and a couple places in Romans 8.
And I was hoping that you could inform me between the idea of being called and what’s being referred to here. Well, we’re all called. You know, the Bible says that for God’s love the world, that’s the whole human race, that He gave His only begotten Son Jesus to die for our sins, that whosoever, and that’s the invitation, that’s the calling, that whosoever that would believe in Christ would not perish but have everlasting life. And in John chapter 12, we find that Christ tells us that He calls everyone.
So everyone is invited. in John chapter 12 in verse 32, Christ says, and if I be lifted up, he’s talking about the cross, from the earth, I will draw all men unto me. Verse 33 goes on to say, then, this he said, signifying what death he should not. So he’d be lifted up on the cross and then he would draw all men unto himself. So we’re all called, we’re all invited, but not everybody responds and puts their trust in Christ when they’re invited to be saved.
But everybody is. Whose servers of call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10, 13, and those phrases are used throughout the Bible. But when we call upon Him as our only hope of heaven, as our Savior, God saves us. Okay, so the call that they’re referring to then is simply the invitation that’s open to everyone. That is exactly right. Okay, thanks. And my second question is that throughout the Bible that it talks about the… I’ve heard and I think I’ve also heard from you that that faith was in the coming Messiah.
That is exactly right. They believe that Jesus would future come and die to pay for sins. The Old Testament foretold his death, his burial and his resurrection. When you go to the classic passage it defines the gospel. Corinthians 15 verses 3 and 4. It says that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. Now that is a reference to the Old Testament Scriptures and I opened up today with the story of Jonah being a story really of Christ.
He was a perfect picture of Christ. You know when the storm came and the ship was about to sink, in order for those men on board of that ship to be saved, they had to cast Jonah overboard, he had to die. And so Jonah had to die for the people on board to be saved. And then of course he goes down into the heart of the earth just like Christ did. His body was entombed in the fish’s belly. And then he comes back in his resurrected and goes back into the body that’s in the tomb in the fish’s belly.
And a picture of how Christ would go down into the heart of the earth and come back into that body and be resurrected. And it’s absolutely a gorgeous picture of the death of the burial and resurrection of Christ. and Jesus said, that is the sign I will give you that I am indeed the Messiah that I’m going to after 72 hours of being in the heart of the earth. I’ll come back from the dead and I’ll be alive and that’ll be the sign.
So a dynamite. I’m sorry, good. But I just get so excited about it because the gospel is there and I love what Peter says in Acts 1043. This is the virtue of the right down perhaps. It says to Jesus, Peter says in Acts 1043, give all the prophets witness and that’s the the writers of the Old Testament, that through his name, that is Jesus’ name, whosoever that believeth on him shall receive the remission of their sins. So Peter in one verse sweeps the whole Old Testament and tells us that all of the Old Testament prophets spoke about Jesus and how that if they would believe on him.
And actually the Hebrew form of God that that he is the Savior, Yeshua, in English is Jesus, that occurs over 130 times in the Old Testament. So Christ is there. And I completely understand that. And I guess what I’m looking for is an Old Testament reference that specifically addresses that the faith of these Old Testament saints was placed upon the coming Messiah. where we place it on the Messiah who has come. Well, you know, Jesus, if you look at Genesis 15, God there told Abraham that he was going to have a child and down the line the promise seed would be the Messiah.
Abraham believed that promise, Genesis 15-6, and God says he counts that to Abraham for righteousness. That verse, Genesis 15-6, is quoted three times in the New Testament. It’s quoted in Romans 4 when it talks about how Abraham was saved and in the context there you see he believed on the Savior that would come that was the promised seed. Promised there in Genesis 15. It’s also quoted in Galatians 3 when again it refers to Abraham and how he was saved and how he believed in this promised seed.
And the interesting thing there, it tells us that the word seed there is singular, not plural. And it says in Galatians 3 16 and to thy seed which is Christ. So Abraham believed on Christ and he heard the gospel, Galatians 3.8 says the Scriptures, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham. And so Abraham believed the gospel, and he was made righteous. And the third place that Genesis 15 and 6 is quoted as Genesis, rather James chapter 2 verse 23, where James also teaches salvation is by faith alone without works.
But when he He talks about rewards. He talks about we have to have works or our faith is going to be dead or useless or non-productive. But if a believer is going to have any rewards and they’re going to have to have works, James says. But he tells us that Abraham will say without works by quoting this wonderful passage of Genesis 15, 6, and James 2, 23. Okay. So then would it have been the coming fulfillment of all these things that they were currently being promised?
They believed in Jesus that he would future come to die to pay for sins and they knew about him as an individual You know Job said in Job 19 25. I know that my redeemer live it And that at the latter day he shall stand upon the earth. And so Job knew about Christ and Job knew about how he would one day stand on the earth at the second coming and rule over the earth. And he knew about the resurrection and he would get a new body.
And he said even though the worms would destroy the body that he was in them that he would when he would die the worms would eat it up. But he would in a new body see God with his very new eyeballs and and see him face to face So it was exciting that Job knew all about that long before he ever came Good deal. Thank you. You’re very welcome and Thank you for calling We have several other college here waiting to go We have some more fair questions coming in this is by blind and again.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for praying for us and giving to us It’s a miracle. It really is a miracle. I sit here just in in in awe, thinking about what God has done here, and allowing Bible-ign now to go out to so many different cities. And now our television program is gonna be starting to be aired in Mongolia. I was out at the National Religious Broadcasters and God just bumped me right into the guy who runs that station in Mongolia, and he and I hit it off, and he wants to run our Bible-ign programs there in Mongolia.
Not exciting. We are excited about what God is doing, opening doors to bring the gospel to the world. It’s amazing to me how much religious broadcasting there is, but very few people are telling people how to be saved and leading people to Christ as Bibleline is doing. We’re just thrilled that God is blessing His Word and that people are getting saved through Bibleline and God is opening doors for us. Thanks to you. If you’d like to help us, you can send a gift to Bibleline at 4811 George Road in Tampa, Florida.
The zip code is 33634. That will be repeated again later in the program. But if you want to call our 800 number operators or friendly, they’ll recite that address to you real slow. They’ll also, if you want, send you an envelope with the address printed on it and you can also give a gift by credit card over the phone. If we’re going to get this messy jump before Jesus comes back, we certainly need your help. To be assured that the program stays on the air in your station, send a gift to Bible and or call in and give one over the phone by credit card.
We’re really not trying to get your money because I don’t get paid. Our staff doesn’t get paid. We’ve got volunteers answering the phone right now and they’re not on salary. They come in here. They work other jobs and they come in here just for this program. God bless them. And if you want to raise your hands and applaud them right now, that’d be great because they are here because they care about you. And we are all trying to get this message out as far as we can.
That’s why we volunteer ourselves. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. We’re going to go to Carl in Tampa, Florida. Carl is patiently waiting and Carl, welcome to Bibleline your own there. Oh, thanks. How you doing, man? Good. Thank you, Mitch. I wanted to make a comment on wine. I had a friend of mine say you can’t drink wine and I was explaining to him that only Virgin wine was at the last supper. If You can drink wine, but you can’t be drunk.
That’s correct. You know, Ephesians 5-18 says, Be not drunk with wine wearing his excess. And the wine, by the way, in those days, was a very mild wine. Today they brew alcohol and wine for people to get drunk, it seems, and it seems like when you drink anything in the way of a form of an alcoholic drink, people assume you get drunk. But that wasn’t true necessarily in biblical days. It was a way of taking care of those little critters in the water that would make you sick.
Like in Egypt, we would call it Pharaoh’s revenge, and I guess in Mexico they call it Montezuma’s revenge, but if you’re not careful with the water, you can get sick. And so the very mild wine would always take care of that so that you were gonna be safe from getting dysentery and other problems from drinking the water. But basically you’re right, you can’t drink wine. I personally don’t drink any alcoholic beverages at all because I don’t want to give the appearance that I drink at all, period zero.
And so never have. And praise the Lord that I was raising a family where they didn’t do it. And it never did appeal to me anyway. So but no, you can. And so but you need to be careful and not become drunk. So Carl, I hope that helps. Okay, I want one more comment. Okay. I’m going to John. upon his rasmin with the adding work to salvation thing when i wanted to really take a look at romance eleven five because if he had worked to salvation he’s not saved at all because according to that first you don’t have grace You don’t have grace, you’re not saved at all.
So he doesn’t understand. He’ll say, well, we have to go about what the Bible says, but we can break laws. God will forgive us for that. But we can never go against the gospel. And that’s a whole different ball game. Call your right on. You get an A today. That’s a great, great answer. Romans 11, 6 really is the verse where it says, if it’s by grace, then it’s no more works. But if you attempt to add any works to salvation, you’ll have no grace.
So that means you won’t be saved. And Carl, thank you. that was great called from tampa florida we have now george and palm beach gardens florida down in south florida george welcome to bible and thank you good morning i get two questions if i may one was he she’ll i look that up in strong and they just be free of the word hell which we know what the popular definition of that is well it’s translated as hell it is the meaning is not hell but it but it is translated as hell that’s why you see it in the strong.
It will tell you what the meaning of the word is and then it will tell you how it is translated. Unfortunately it was translated hell in Jonah even in the book of Jonah. But it really means this hollow place in the heart of the earth. And that is a pretty definitive verse there in Jonah chapter 2 verse 2 where it says that Jonah made his second prayer out of the belly. The word belly means hollow place, the hollow place of shield, SHEOL.
And so that’s where he was. And as you read the scripture, David in Psalm 16 talks about how that when he died he would go to Shiel, but he said that Jesus would not leave him there. Isn’t that wonderful? David knew he would not stay there. And when Jesus died, he went down and David was there. And David was taken out of the heart of the earth along with all the other Old Testament saints and are now in heaven.
David and all of them had to wait there and she’ll until Christ died and then he took them up out of the heart of the earth. So the meaning of the word is it and if you have a Schofield Bible I’ll tell you the notes are wonderful on Hades and she’ll and you got to get one you got to get that it and we have a softback for $15 it is a that’s the one I have it on a lap right now by the way I have that little $15 one that’s so handy.
King James. It’s King James with the Scofields notes and the notes came out in 1909 and they’re just marvelous. They’re geared to doctrine and just as a great study aid. Because Scofield has an NIV. Yeah, well he doesn’t have it. That’s one of the publishers now has taken the notes and put it in the NIV, which I hate the NIV. It’s a terrible translation. But the NIV, Scofields out there, but up until just rather recently, until the NIV came out, going to be came out there was no such thing but scofields been dead a long time ago i got to get that when i get off maybe you can hook me up but uh…
uh… the thing is that i tried that and i’ve eaten about four or five different translations and the only one i could pass the test on was king james yeah i know you know most of them have gone off the wall it’s kind of contradictory because they they have a note on the bottom and says uh… uh… ancient authors or whatever translators said this well who would be close to the original yeah really rather than other people would be a side of the the contradict themselves of it i have a question here i heard some people on the radio saying jesus would not come the second time until he was called by israel that’s uh…
he’s a saved uh… jus that were saying that’s on the radio well it would come only after he’d been called by his or that seems kind of contradictory to yeah i i think the referring to the end of the twenty three where he says uh… because you have rejected me he says i’m out of here your house your temple there in jrusil would be left desolate which is exactly what happened and he says you’ll not see me henceforth tell you shall say blessed is he the cometh in the name of the Lord.
So they’re referring to that and during the tribulation period apparently millions of Jews will get saved and they’ll be saying blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord they believe in Jesus and then he comes back but it’s crisis is coming back on his schedule but it will be at a time when many Jews will be looking for him to come so that’s really the answer to Matthew 23 the last verses. Okay, fine. George, I’m going to get you back to an operator right now if somebody can pick up on George here.
Okay, thank you, George. We now are going to go to if you pick up George. Okay, we got him. And now we’re going to go to Peter in Boynton Beach and let me see if we can do this without having both of you on the air at the same time. Peter are you there? Yes, I am. How are you this morning? Good. Good. I have millions of questions but looked up with these two. Kane and Abel did not have any sisters, right?
No, that’s not true. I’m saying in the beginning. No, well, I mean, when they were born, they were the first born, but then later there was… So, it’s just… while stop right here whom did came there he married one of his sisters he married one of his sisters he took his wife with him when he went to the land of nahd and there he had children by her and it was a great but i’m saying they didn’t buy a bible didn’t register anything there he had a sister or well you need to read further and if you go to genesis chapter five it says that i believe begat sons and daughters So that wasn’t said until chapter 5.
So obviously there were sons and daughters. And some believe that the murder of Abel by Cain took place when they were about 125 years of age. Because Seth didn’t replace Abel until 125 years had gone by. Some estimate, because of the multiple births that were part of the curse, the twins and triplets were born and with that much time the population of the world might have been around a hundred thousand at the time of the murder. Certainly in Genesis 414 it says, Cain when he was punished and banished, he said everyone that finded me shall slay me.
So there was a lot of people around, apparently at the time of the murder. And he married a sister. That was not a problem at the beginning because the gene… Oh you said that, I realized. Yeah. We’re not corrupted. And I realized that. Yeah. I just didn’t read anywhere that he had a… five were going back after before to the same question when uh… the son of god the daughter’s chapter six yes yes uh… anyway uh… next one was salam on or david or all the other king’s committed uh…
you know uh… sin by taking more life than one absolutely did they sure did and uh… they paid a pretty anywhere in the bible not to marry more than one Absolutely, Deuteronomy chapter 17, read it. And every king was to make a copy of the Scriptures, and he knew the rules, and they just blew it. They just violated that big time, and the consequences were there in their own families, their own life. They paid for that, and of course God also, because of the wives and the false religions that came in, Solomon lost his kingdom.
It was split among his children, and it was a mess. And that was the result of their sin. Thank you Peter, that was great. Some good questions there from Peter down in Boynton Beach, Florida, down in South Florida. And we’re now going to Albert in my Emmy and Albert. Welcome to Bible Andrew on the Earth. Hey, how are you Hank? Good. Turn the radio down. Okay. I just wanted to add a comment to the gentleman that God, when he put Adam and Eve, he said to go ahead and multiply through increase.
he also said when they fell he also said that your labor was going to increase that means that before they were out of paradise they had already kids and it says that yeah came was the first kid but it didn’t say that able was the second kid so able could have been the number fifty the number third or the second or the fifth you know well kidney will i believe were twins and there was one conception can you know what wins and they were side by side but they definitely had to marry their sisters and Adam and Eve if you read chapter 5 of Genesis had sons and daughters so but I think I think he got the answer and I think he’s happy now.
Okay. But thanks Albert for sharing that with us. God bless you. God bless you. Alright that was Albert down in Miami Florida listening to Bibleline. You’re welcome to call in from wherever you might be and we have some off-air questions from different areas and we have Troy in the land of Florida calls in and he says, where does it say anything about a Christmas tree in the Bible? Well, Genesis chapter 10 shows this Christmas tree idea was really the way they celebrated Bail’s birthday at the winter solstice by cutting a tree down that was green in the winter time and taking it home nailing it down, ducking with silver and gold.
We have the regen as Jeremiah chapter 10. We have Neil in Virginia calling in. He says, people believe you have to be baptized to go to heaven. Well, they are wrong because water will not save you. And if in fact, if you’re trusting in water baptism to get you to heaven, that’s a work for salvation. And I don’t believe you’re saved at all. If you’ve got the thing backward, obviously we are baptized a bunch of people last year. year by immersion, but as a testimony of how they were cleansed of their sin by the blood of Christ.
So, we’re not saved by water baptism and I have, go to my website, there’s a bunch of articles that are written on baptism that you can download. In fact, there are 10 baptisms taught in the New Testament and I go through what all of those are, but we appreciate every one of you that are calling in. We’re about out of time, so we can’t take any more callers. We’ve got people lining up on this phone line here like crazy and we need to go a second hour I guess, but we can’t.
Tomorrow we’ll be back and I hope you’ll join us on Bibleline tomorrow morning. You can go back and listen to this program again today on the internet and you can also order a copy of today’s show. Also, if you want a Sunday message of mine on the story of Jonah where you get a great deal more detail, you can call in and for $5 you get a copy of the message on Jonah. uh… fact that jesus is a messiah and that he is uh…
