I’m Tom Perry, and you are tuned in to Bibleline, where you’ll hear a combination of teachings from the Word of God and real-life questions, with answers taken straight from the Bible.

We pray that Bibleline will be glorifying to God, as well as educational for you. Bibleline is a continuation of Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s ministry of spreading the good news of salvation throughout the world, salvation by simply trusting Jesus Christ alone as your Savior. We hope that you will join us for this first by verse study of the Book of Matthew as we explore topics such as Jesus for telling his death and resurrection, his rejection by the Jewish leaders, the many parables told by Jesus, and more.

Now join us for Dr. Lynchttom’s teaching for today as we turn to the Book of Matthew, The greater picture was the sun that Israel would produce. That would be the Messiah. And what is interesting is that Jesus, also in his infancy, was taken down to Egypt. And then he is brought back out of Egypt. And the double meaning is fulfilled. Not only did Israel in its infancy come out of Egypt, but also Jesus in his infancy comes out of Egypt.

also Jesus in his infancy comes out of Egypt and the prophecy is fulfilled. So let’s go back there. And Matthew 2, 15, that they were there until the death of Herod that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken of by the Lord, of the Lord by the prophet saying, out of Egypt, have I called my son. So the nation of Israel was God’s son called out by Moses and then Jesus was God’s son, of course, the Savior that was called out of Egypt.

Verse 16. Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked on the wise men, was exceeding wrath and sent forth and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem and all the coast thereof. Are you ready? From two years old and under, from two years old and under, why? According to the time, according to the time, according to the time which he had diligent and acquired of the wise men. When he had those wise men under the bright lights, when he interrogated them, they confessed.

saw the star two years ago. Herod, based on that information, knowing that the prophecy in the Bible said he’d be born in Bethlehem, sent his troops down to Bethlehem and all the surrounding cities and killed every baby two years old and under, according to what he had learned when he inquired diligently of the wise men. Clearly, Christ was two years old at the time that the wise men arrived and at the time that Herod kills all the babies. I’ve been to Bethlehem many times and there’s a place there where they celebrate the death of all these many innocents.

And it seems like that there’s been a couple of times in history when this has been true. The first coming of Christ and now as we rapidly approach the second coming of Christ, don’t we have that again? In the abortions that are taking place, that millions of innocent children are being aborted and killed and obviously I think there’s a connection between the cummies of Christ and this killing of innocent life. And we find that in Bethlehem they have a place where they talk about this slaughter of the innocents.

Can you imagine what it must have been like? For a parent, the soldiers would ride up to your home on their horses. They would rip a baby out of the arms of its mother and then with its sword, kill it in the presence of the parents. And this happened throughout all that area. The Bible says there was a great cry that went up. Look at verse 17. Then was fulfilled, which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet. What did Jeremiah say?

As he predicted this very event in Rama, which is Bethlehem, there was a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping in great mourning. Rachel weeping for her children and would not be comforted because they are not. Certainly nothing could be more tragic than the loss. I’ve loved one in our child, especially killed by soldiers who came and ripped them from the parents’ arms and slaughtered them. Notice this as they wouldn’t be comforted. How tragic this would be to have your child killed in that way.

And the Prophet Jeremiah foretold that very event. Verse 19, when Herod was dead, behold an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying arise and take the young child. There’s that phrase again and his mother and go into the land of Israel for their dead which sought the young child’s life. He arose and took the young child and his mother and came into the land of Israel. I’m pointing out that Joseph was the leader here and responsible because the Roman Catholic Church has made Mary the important one, even so much so that the Roman Catholic is told to pray to Mary when there is only one mediator between God and men, then that’s Christ.

1 Timothy 2 5 says, there’s one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. So Mary is not the mediator. Mary cannot hear anyone’s prayers. As dear a woman as she was, she’s in a category of everybody who’s died. It’s a member of the human race. We’re forbidden to try to contact them in the Bible to pray to the dead is forbidden. In the Catholic Church, practice is praying to the dead. in praying to Mary.

It’s forbidden in Scripture. Mary can’t hear their prayers. There’s only one media. That’s Christ, not Mary. And Mary has been elevated to the position where the Catholic Church in the Catechism calls her the co-redemptorist with Christ, that she participated in the redemption of Christ, of the world through Christ, and so that she’s the co-redemptorist. And just a few years ago, Newsweek reported how that Catholics around the world, from a hundred 50-7 countries petitioned the Pope that he would use his infallible decree making to declare Mary the fourth member of the Trinity.

And so we no longer have the Holy Trinity, but we’d have the Holy Quartet that Mary would be the fourth member. That’s real. That happened. And millions and millions of petitions were sent to Rome asking the Pope to do that. He He didn’t do that, but obviously many see her as a position next to God or close to God and sometimes equal with God. And that’s certainly his fault. Mary did not have that position in the Bible and we see that early on.

Then it says in verse 22, when he had heard that Archaalis did reign in Jerusalem in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither, notwithstanding being warned of God in a dream, He turned aside into parts of Galilee. And He came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth. That it might be what? Fulfilled. There it is again, which is spoken by the prophets that said, He shall be called a Nazarene. So Christ now goes back to the city where Mary and Joseph originally left to go to Bethlehem because of the taxing.

And now He’s raised in Nazareth, and he is therefore called a Nazarene as the prophets had foretold. Now, some have imagined that he was called a Nazarene because he took a Nazarite vow, but that’s not the case at all. If you took a Nazarite vow, which was a special vow that some took, you couldn’t touch a dead body, you couldn’t drink wine, Christ touched dead bodies and raised them from the dead, he also drank wine. So certainly that is not what it’s saying, but it was saying that he was raised in Nazareth.

It was also said in another place in the Bible because nothing spectacular ever happened in Nazareth. It was a city to the north, up in the mountains, and somebody said later in the Bible, can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Nobody ever heard of anything coming good out of that city, and yet the Savior came out of the town of Nazareth where he was raised in his father’s carpenter shop and with his mother Mary there in Nazareth. Chapter 3 verse 1, In those days came John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying repent ye for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Wanted to find two terms, repent means to change your mind. Comes from the Greek word meta noia. Meta means change, noia means mine. The two words together mean a change of mind. It doesn’t mean turn from sin. It doesn’t mean sorrow for sin. And unfortunately, the word was poorly translated into English. Because when preachers go to their English dictionary, they find it meaning sorrow for sin or turning from sin. That’s not what it means at all. And it adds works to the planet of salvation because if you had to turn from sin to be saved, that would make salvation of yourself and violate all the other scriptures that say salvation is not of yourself.

It’s the gift of God. It has nothing to do with works, period. Not of works, lest any man should boast. And what is so amazing to me is that so many preachers use that phrase, repent of sin, which by the way, the phrase repent of sin does not even occur in the Bible once, not once. And yet you would think it’s on every page of the Bible because it’s so frequently used. But guess what? It doesn’t mean to turn from sin, and the phrase by itself doesn’t really make sense if you understand the meaning of the Greek word metanoia, because it means change your mind about sin.

I don’t know about you, but I was always raised that sin was wrong. If I change my mind about sin, what I all of a sudden say, wow, what have I missed? I guess sin is wonderful. Of course, that didn’t make any sense, but that’s really what the meaning is. And yet how many pictures at invitation time will say, Repent of your sin, turn from your sin? Is anybody thinking, the choir then will follow and sing, That’s not right.

They’ll sing just as I am, I come, without one plea, but that Thy blood was shed for me. You’re listening to Bible Eye, a teaching ministry that’s dedicated to delivering the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are many items available from our Resource Center, such as Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s DVD teachings on the topics of simplicity, belief versus unbelief, and is inviting Jesus into your heart false in addition to many others when you call 1-800-576-3771. Now we’re going to take a break from our teaching to listen to Dr.

Lindstrom answering questions from callers and then we’ll rejoin today’s teaching. We have Linda from Dunedin and Linda welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Hi there, Dr. Hank, it’s Linda. I just have a question regarding tithing in St. Luke chapter 6 verse 38. I started going to different churches and I even in fact am going to the New Jerusalem Messianic, Temple in Dunnegan, on Friday for a Shabbat. I have tried, but now I’m going to different churches and I’m going to Calvary community as well.

I want to be faithful, I want to be obedient, I want to be a blessing and that I want the verse 38, giving it shall be given unto you. Good measure, press down. Can you tell me if by going to different churches and giving a little bit of my might to every place? Does that all culminate? And if I give to the 700 Club to Operation Blessings, things like that, is that considered tithing? And I’ll hang up and listen to you.

Okay. First of all, we’re not under the Old Testament law of tithing. New Testament giving is from the heart. And it is obviously something that every believer ought to do. And it’s a way we can invest in eternity. But let me just caution you that you have to be very careful where you give. If you give to an organization and their message is not right and their doctrine is not correct, that comes out as a minus for you. So I think you’re obviously looking for a blessing which Luke 638 is talking about.

But if you’re giving to an organization that the message is not correct, then you’re going to lose out. Second John tells us that if we give Godspeed or blessing or financial support to an organization whose message is wrong, then you are going to be losing out on reward. Verse 8 of 2 John says, Look to yourselves that we lose not those things which we have wrought or worked for, but that we might receive a full reward. You want to get the full benefit for what you’re doing and for your giving.

And it warns us that if we give God’s speed to those whose message is not correct, then it says we become partaker of their evil deeds and that’s right there are a couple verses further down. So that really caused me to reflect on where I’m giving. And so I don’t just give to any organization. I make sure that their doctrine is correct, that they’re giving out the correct message and that they’re in line with the Bible or I will not support them at all.

And so you need to be very, very much doing your homework about where your money is going. Somebody once said you need to do your giving while you’re living, so you’re knowing where it’s going. We’re not under the tithe, but I believe that you ought to give where you’re blessed, but you need to be careful that you’re not under a message that is false or tainted, because then you’re giving your credence and support to that, and God says you’ll be a partaker of their evil deeds, and you’ll lose out on the full reward you could have had.

Alright we’re going to go down to Gino in Tampa, Florida. Gino welcome to Bibleline Your All the Year. Okay, hello this is Gino and I’m calling about two questions I have. One is I was doing some reading last night in the old school field and… First, peer 17. When you start about your work, then you know, judge us by the work. I want to know exactly what she thought about. What does that mean? And the second one is that, uh, what chapter was that?

You didn’t tell me. It’s not the 17th chapter. First, first, first, peer, one 17. Okay. All right. And the second question. I ran into a few witnessing, um, uh, Jehovah witness this weekend. And so I started doing witnesses to me. I began witnessing them telling them how their beliefs were wrong. And they asked me, did I know about the beliefs? And I quoted a few that I read from the piece of paper that you gave me about the North not in their Bible.

But anyway, I needed to know where is exactly where Jesus said that he is God himself. Of course, that’s one that they don’t believe in. Where he is. So next time I wouldn’t tell them exactly. This is where he says that he is the Lord and God and Jesus also. And I think of this. Thank you. All right. On the second question, first, John 824 is a great verse and the witnesses don’t have a good response for it where Jesus said that you shall die in your sins for if you believe not that I am, you shall die in your sins.

The phrase I am is the name that God himself uses at the burning bush when he appears to Moses. And this is the God of creation, the God of the Old Testament, the God that sometimes is pronounced Jehovah, but more recently most people agree that it should be translated or pronounced Yahweh. And so Jesus claims that he is the very same God that appeared to Moses that he told Moses that he was the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob and the God who created this universe.

And so unless you believe that Jesus is God, you will not go to heaven. And as we said earlier in the monologue today, according to Philippians 2, 11, that one day everybody in heaven above and in hell beneath and in the earth will confess with their tongue that Jesus Christ is Yahweh or Jehovah. So the witnesses may not believe today, but in hell they will believe. Of course they don’t believe in hell, but they’ll believe in hell. They’ll believe in Jehovah or Yahweh that Jesus is Jehovah or Yahweh who came and took on human flesh.

And they’ll confess that he is God, that he is Jehovah who died to pay for our sins. So that’s a great verse, John 824. And Jesus loved that phrase, I Am, because he used it numerous times and he amplified it it by telling us more about his character and his person by saying, I am the door. I am the light of the world. I am the bread of life. I am the living water. I am the way, the truth.

I am the life. I am the resurrection and the life. And in Revelation, he’s called, I am the Alpha, I am the Omega, I am the beginning, I am the end and it goes on and on. I could quote tons of these phrases where Christ liked the phrase I am. He says, I am, I am, I am. And the Joe’s witnesses reject that he is I am. And so you might want to focus on not John 824. The passage in 1 Peter chapter 1 that you are talking about here says, and if And if you call on the Father, who without respect to persons, judges according to every man’s work, pass the time of your surgery here in fear, he’s talking about that God is going to judge every man according to his works.

Now, he then goes on to verse 18 to tell us that we’re not saved by our works, but every believer will go to heaven and be judged according to their works for degree of reward in heaven. Every unbeliever will go to hell, but will be judged at a separate judgment according to their works to determine the degree of punishment and hell. So every man is going to be judged without respect to persons. It doesn’t matter whether you’re red, yellow, black, or a polka dotted.

If you are a believer, you’re going to go to heaven. If you’re an unbeliever, you’re going to go to hell. But every man will be judged according to his works. And at your destination, believers will be judged to determine the degree of reward or loss of reward and heaven based on works in every unbelievable judge according to his works to determine the degree of punishment and help so i hope that answers the uh… question for you and thank you for calling in the day genome and we’re going to go to david now enrichment virginia and david welcome to buy blood you are on the air okay maria my question is about uh…

the timing uh… i know a lot of pre-treatures on t-v they still uh… that you should be tithing and giving 10% of. Everything you make or you’re considered to be Robin Potters from what they tell me. I was just wondering what in the Bible teaches us that we don’t, we’re not under the law or to follow that path and stuff anymore. All right. Well, they’re quoting about that, Robin God and everything is from Malachi. And he’s talking to Israel and he’s talking about the tithe, which was a part of the commandments are given from Mount Sinai.

And that was basically the Old Testament law given Israel. We are now not under the law. If you read Romans 6, 7 and 8, it’s pretty clear that we’re not under the law, but we’re under grace. And we are under grace giving, which means you give from the heart not as a demand. I like what it says in Saint Corinthians 9, 8, it says that God wants us to give from the heart, not grudgingly or because of even the need, but from the heart because you want to give because you love the Lord.

And as you give under grace, somebody once said, should you give less under grace than we did under the law? So you might want to give more than 10%. But obviously, 10% is a probably good number. So I recommend that, but we’re not under the obligation of the law that thou shalt give 10%. But we can choose. And it says let every man purpose in his own heart to give as God has blessed him. So it’s a percentage of what God has blessed you with and you can choose to give 9% or 11% or maybe as some I heard the testimony of Mr.

Armor who you might know with connection with the armor meets. He gave 90% and he kept 10% for himself. So obviously if God has blessed you with more, you might want to give more. And he did pretty well on that 10%, wouldn’t you think? But he gave 90% of his monies to the Lord and kept 10% for himself. So it doesn’t have to be, you know, get stuck on that number 10. Hope that helps a little bit, but we’re not under the law.

Read Romans 6 in particular, because we’re not under law. We’re under grace. And the law was nailed to the cross, Colossians 2, 14 through 16, and he took it out of the way. And now what we do, we do from the heart, not because thou shalt, thou shalt, or thou shalt not, but because we love the Lord and because we want to please him, we do it from the heart. We’re now going to go to Jimmy in Lakeland, Florida, and Jimmy, welcome to Bibleline Your on the air.

uh… being done good before your safe are you blessed on earth for that and are you also rewarded Australian heaven or do you have to do anything you do after your safe you are then rewarded foreign heaven well i believe our rewards in heaven are primarily from the time we get saved till the time we die and leave here to go to heaven but obviously that their benefits even before you say by living in accordance with the scriptures. Obviously, you’re going to live a peaceful, more peaceful life, and a more prosperous life.

If you steal and murder, you’re going to wind up in jail, and you’re going to have a miserable life and probably not be able to accomplish all the goals that you would like to accomplish. But really, according to the Bible, it’s apparently from the time you become saved Till the time you die, that is the time when God will bless your good deeds, as far as rewards in heaven. Okay, well, wonderful. Thank you very much. Thank you for your call, and that was Jimmy in Lakeland, Florida.

To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. We’re going to turn to Matthew chapter 11 if you have your Bible open and it says in verse 28, Come unto me. These are the words of Christ. If you have a red letter edition of the Bible, you’ll find them in red and Jesus says come unto me. Salvation is in a person. It’s not in a denomination. It’s not in a set of rules. It’s not in a creed.

It’s in Jesus himself. And so Jesus in the Bible numerous times uses the phrase come unto me. He says later in John 14, 6, I am the way. I am the truth. I am the life and no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. So we find that unless you come unto Christ who is the only way to heaven, you will not be able to get to heaven. Notice what it says in John 14, 6. I am the way.

I am the truth. I am the life and no man, no man, no man, comeeth unto the Father, no man, comeeth unto the Father, but by me. So you have to come to Christ if you’re going to go to heaven because he is the way to heaven and to try to get to heaven any other way you will not make it. And this is so important to understand and it’s so basic. And what a simple presentation we have here in Matthew 11, 28, coming to me, Jesus says.

And then notice the invitation is to everybody. Look at the word all. Coming to me all. A-L-L. There’s no one that cannot come. There’s no one that cannot be saved. There’s no one who cannot be forgiven. I’ve talked to some people and they say, you don’t know what I’ve done. I’ve done some terrible things in my life and I don’t believe God could ever forgive me. Well, guess what? He sure can. Jesus invites everybody. He doesn’t exclude anyone who would come to Him for salvation.

When you come unto Christ, God saves you. And it says, come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. People are trying to work their way to heaven. Some of them are really working hard at it and they don’t have to work. The Bible says they simply need to come. Come. And then the wonderful promise in John 637, Him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. Are you connecting the dots here?

Matthew 1128, coming to me, I’ll give you rest. And John 637, Him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. He’ll never cast you out. He’ll never lose you. You’re saved forever. You cannot be lost once you become saved. Because Jesus is the one who keeps you saved. Look at John 639. Jesus says in John 639, This is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which hath given me, I should lose none. N-O-N-E none.

Not one. Not one. So no one will ever be lost. Who has come to Christ? No one can be lost once you become saved. And once you trust Christ as Savior, You are saved forever. Isn’t that great news? It is wonderful news and it’s the best news I ever heard. I was 18 when I heard it. I had been raised in church. I was confirmed. You probably heard me tell about it. I was confirmed. I was baptized. I was homogenized, pasteurized, capsized, and I went through all the processes.

I was raised in the church. My mom enrolled me, she tells me in the nursery as an infant. And so I was raised in church. But you know, I never knew how to go to heaven. And I find that there are so many just like that. I had a funeral service yesterday and amazing. An older group, and yet we had people get saved, it’s so wonderful to see older folks get saved. Many of them have been in church all their lives.

many different churches sometimes been active and yet they don’t know how to go to heaven. They’ve never heard that explained. It’s absolutely amazing and I just thrill at the opportunity to be able to share the gospel, especially with older folks who have been raised around church all their life and still have not heard the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ. This message of the death, the barrel, the resurrection of Christ is the means by which we become saved. And it’s the only means by which we can become saved.

And Paul says in Romans 1, 16, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, which is the death barrel and resurrection story where Christ died and paid for your sin debt in full by his death and shed blood. It says I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for if the gospel is the power, the power of God. Undissylvation to everyone that believe it. Gonna go back and now join the stations that have been on break. And due to the second half hour Bibleline, here we go.

Please make plans to join us and open your Bible as we also present in-depth studies covering a variety of biblical topics. Now let’s return to our question and answer segment and then you’ll hear more Bible teaching from Dr.

Hank Lindstrom. We’re now going to go to Leonard and Leonard is in Richmond, Virginia. And Leonard, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Thank you, Dr. Hank. I heard a brother speaking early about those that I spiritually did and how the word is able to, you know, the cred to the in-remain and they are able to become safe. But I was just doing them on my private reading and I read this verse hundreds of times. But yesterday I just stood out when Jesus said that I come that you may have a life in John Tien, that I come that you might have a life and have it more abundantly.

Okay, kind of confused with this time when I read it when you said it, you might have life. I know we will have eternal life by accepting that law and Savior, but the abundant life, I want to get the direct understanding of interpretation. What do you say you will have eternal life or is there going to be more life in this earth or in the life that comes? I’m just going to hang up and list the answer. Well I think it’s too full there.

I think it’s talking about being saved when you receive everlasting life and then the abundant life being when you fully enjoy your eternal life as you are now living, not to be saved, but to really show your love and your gratitude and thankfulness to God for saving you. And then you have the joy and the fullness of the potential of rewards and effectiveness that a you as a believer can have. So you can trust Christ and just be saved.

But then I like what the hymn writer wrote, and you have to be able to pay attention when you sing hymns too. I’m talking about now that I will mention is about the Christian life and it says trust and obey for there’s no other way to be happy. Now you trust Christ and you’re saved, but to be happy it says in the hymn trust and obey for there’s no other way to be happy than to trust and obey. So you trust Christ to be saved then as you obey Him after you’re saved that’s the way happiness and blessing and rewards comes in your life and that’s the abundant life.

So you need to separate and that’s called rightly divided into word of truth, which we try to talk about and teach here on Bible and all the time, that there’s a difference between being saved and then a difference between that and being a servant or disciple or the Christian life which is our working to live for Christ, not to be saved, to be saved, but because we are. And that brings about blessing and reward and an abundant life. So when you get all done with your life, Peter talks about an abundant entrance into heaven in 1 Peter chapter 1.

And that comes about by being faithful and living for Christ, that when you die, you don’t enter heaven with no reward, but you enter heaven with a full reward. We talked about that earlier in 2 John that if you’re not careful, some of your works, although you’re working hard, might bring about very little reward. I believe if you’re serving in a bad church where the message is wrong, guess what? All that labor, you might get some points for it in heaven as far as reward, but you’re going to suffer the loss of the full reward you could have had.

It may be get no reward because it’s 2 John chapter 1 that if you bid an organization a preacher, a group, a denomination, Godspeed and God’s blessing, then you’re going to be partaker of their evil deeds. And when the judgment comes, that’ll cost you. And so you want to give and serve and do where the message is correct. If you’re in a bad church and you’re giving to that church, if you’re in a bad church and you serve in that church, if you’re in a bad church and you are supporting and praising and endorsing that church.

You are asking for trouble because God says you are a partaker of their evil deeds. And there are tons of verses that say get out, get out, get out. In Revelation it talks about the same thing in chapter 18. It says come out of her, my people. That is religious organizations that are teaching wrong. It says… Otherwise, you are, again it says, a partaker of the evil deeds of that organization. And in 2nd John it clearly says it’s connected to rewards for the believer.

It says look to yourselves that you lose not those things which you have worked for. That means how you’ve labored and given and all those kind of things maybe in a bad church. And you’re going to pay a price the one day because it’s not going to bring about reward and heaven because you’re going to be partaker of the evil deeds of that church. You have been promoting a false message and a false gospel and maybe a false presentation of everything.

So you might be saved, but you will suffer the loss of reward one day. I hope that is helpful to understand that. But the Bible is very clear about when you serve the Lord, you need to break off from all that is false and stand tall with the truth. You need to find a good Bible-believing teaching church, where you can attend and give them your support and to promote and invite people and get them saved and help them grow and disciple them.

But you don’t want to support a bad church, a bad organization. So you have to check out what do they believe? If you’re not sure what to ask or inquire about, then we have a sheet, an article that I’ve written that will be happy to send you free of charge. And that is, beliefs that matter. I have about twenty-five basic doctrines that a good church ought to believe. And you can go and find out whether they agree with these points or not.

And that is about the Bible being the Word of God, the infallible, and errant, inspired Word of God and about the Trinity, the fact that God is one God but exists as eternally as three separate eternal persons, God the eternal Father, God the eternal Spirit, God the eternal Son. about the deity of Jesus, that Jesus is God it took on flesh, about salvation, being holy of Jesus and nothing of ourself, that we simply receive it, my faith and faith alone in Christ and what he’s done.

So that’s just a little bit of a bit called and you can ask for that or go on my website and go to the bottom right hand corner of the home page and look under Dr. Linson’s articles and you’ll find beliefs that matter is one of those that you can print out on your home computer on your printer. We have John down in Sarasota. John, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Dr. Lynch, I’m thanking for you. I was in a service the other day in the payments.

Looking at the command, we should not make an image. They’re trying to use that passage to say we should not have a cross in the church. Kind of raise the red flag when it’s your view thought. Well, I don’t think it’s talking about that, but it certainly means any image that you would worship. you would worship. I think if somebody has a cross hanging around their neck and they think it has supernatural powers and like when you see a Dracula movie that somebody will hold a cross up and then the devil will run from that or whatever, that score is craziness.

But obviously it’s a symbol of what Christ did at the cross for us when he gave his life and I don’t see a problem with that. But I think it’s more talking about the like the golden calf and the other things that are forbidden in the Old Testament where they would find an object that they would worship and that’s a different ball game altogether and that’s forbidden. Okay, I put a touch base. Thanks for your help. Okay, thank you.

We’re going to go to Robert in Petersburg, Virginia and Robert, welcome to Bible on You Are On The Air. Are you doing? Good. Good morning. My question is, Job chapter 1 verse 6, talking about when the angels, I mean some of the God went before the Lord and Satan went with them, showed up with them. Who are those sons that they are talking about? Well those are probably Job’s children and other believers, they are not angels. The scene takes place on the earth and there was always in the Old Testament times a specific place where God would meet with man.

We know that during the wilderness experience God met with them at the tabernacle. And there his presence resided in the holy of holies in the tabernacle. At night you would see a pillar of fire where God’s presence was. And in the day you’d see a cloud. And when that cloud or that pillar of fire moved then they were to pack up their tents and follow. And they followed the Lord throughout the wilderness and his presence was made known to them.

And that’s where they would come to worship and meet the Lord. Later it was the temple in Jerusalem, and they would come up to the temple every year to worship the Lord. Well, we find that prior to all of that in the time of Job, which is one of the earliest written books of the Bible, They also had a specific place where they’d come to meet the Lord. And these were believers even today in the New Testament. It’s very clear that the sons of God are believers.

Never did God ever call an angel his son, Hebrews 1 5. But we as believers, according to Hebrews chapter 2, are made higher than the angels positionally when we trust Christ and we are called the sons of God. So I hope that helps. These were believers coming before the Lord to worship him. and Satan also came among them. They did take place on Earthland Heaven. It took place right here on the Earth. And here on Earth. OK. Because then I’ll read in your book the book that he said the scene was taking place in the end.

Yeah, it’s still feeling like it has that in the margin there. And that’s one of the few times I disagree. Could you comment on this for me please? I was listening to a preacher and he was talking about Joe. and he said that all the reason you got sick was because he was afraid not because god allows the Satan to treat him bad but he was he was uh… gotten that way because he was afraid and didn’t have the faith that he should have had at that particular time so that’s what caused Satan to be able to uh…

put all these burdens upon him well that’s certainly not true and that preacher’s not reading his Bible. I’m going to go back and read the passage. It’s very clearly stated there that God had a little conversation with Satan and said, Satan, while you were roaming around on the earth, did you notice my servant Job? That there’s none like him. He hates evil. He loves me. And Satan says, yeah, that’s because you put a hedge about him and protect him.

And if you only take that hedge away, he’ll curse you. And so God allowed Satan to take away all the Job had. And it demonstrated that God knew Job better than Satan did. And that Job was faithful and did not sin even though he lost all his possessions and all his children were killed. It says there that Job said, naked came out of my mother’s womb, naked shall I return thither. The Lord is given, the Lord is taken away.

Blessed be the name of the Lord. Wow, what a great man Job was. But that’s absolutely not true. He’s making up things. And that’s the danger today. You have to have your Bible open when you’re listening to anybody. That includes me. Get your Bible open. Make sure that we’re not adding something or changing something or manufacturing something or inventing something. The Bible is very clear that that’s not true at all. Okay. I want to ask you one last question.

Go ahead. When they were talking about this, one would be taken and one left. Exactly. What does that In Matthew 24, it’s talking about the second coming, not the rapture. It’s the event seven years later when the ones that are taken are taken to judgment and killed and the ones that are left are left to live into the millennium. And it’s very clear in verse 39 of Matthew 24 that the ones that are taken are taken in the way that the flood took the lost in the days of Noah.

It says it would be again as it was in the days of Noah and it says they were eating and drinking and marrying and giving in marriage until the day that the flood came and took them all away. Social will also be in the day of the coming of the Son of Man. So the flood took the unbelievers away, but no one in his family is the same. We’re left to repopulate the earth. It’ll be the same as the next verse says, there’ll be two in the field.

The one will be taken in judgment and killed. The other will be left to live in the millennium. Two women will be grinding at the mill. The one will be taken in judgment and killed. The other will be left to live into the millennium. And so it’s not that the rapture is the second coming. Okay, thank you very much. You’re very welcome and keep listening up there in Richmond, Virginia, or Petersburg, Virginia, and we appreciate your call. That concludes today’s question and answer segment.

There’s no other topic that is more important to us than the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and it was Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s mission to spread the Gospel. Through your support for Bibleline, you too can help to spread the Gospel of Christ throughout the world and to reach others with the message of salvation through Jesus. Visit our website at BibleLineMinistries.org for copies of any of our resources, such as Dr. Lindstrom’s audio CDs on the books of Jude or Acts, plus many others.

Now join us as we return to today’s teaching series. Yet how many pictures at invitation time will say, Repent of your sin, turn from your sin? Is anybody thinking, the choir then will follow and sing, that’s not right. Just as I am, I come without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me.” And it’s almost like the preacher says, that’s not right. And the preacher says, you’ve got to turn from your sin to be saved. And then the choir comes right back around and sings again, just as I am I come without one plea.

You know if repent means to turn from sin then the choir ought to sing a song that would reflect that message. That is something like turn turn turn turn right now. And I could maybe write something that would reaffirm the message of turning from sin. But the Greek word doesn’t mean that. And it adds works to the plan of salvation. It’s a terrible trap. I know Dan out here and I were talking about it. He said, he was under that misunderstanding about repent.

And he said, I never could tell if I had sorrowed enough for the sins that I had committed in my life. He’s shaking and he said, yes. What a terrible thing that’s under. You’re under if you hear that wrong message about repent. And they’d say, you have to be sorry for your sin, you have to turn through your sin. And here he agonizes, have I been sorry enough? How sorry do I have to be? And maybe I haven’t been sorry enough.

So maybe I’m not saved. And you go through this and I can’t tell you how many people have come across my path and they say, Pastor, I don’t know if every pen and of everything, I don’t know if I’m saved. And it’s all because they don’t have the message right. That’s one of the victories that Satan has gotten in this world. And all you have to do is go to the Concordance, look up the Greek word, no great mystery.

There shouldn’t be any mistake here at all, but Satan must delight in that bad translation and the fact that preachers get it wrong and they add works to the plan of salvation. When you see the word repent used in the New Testament, especially in the book of Acts, almost every time, it’s a change of mind about who is Jesus Christ. When Peter preached at Pentecost, that crowd had crucified Christ because they believed it to beosponsors and imposters. Peter and his eloquent message demonstrated that Jesus Christ was the Messiah and that he came back from the dead and demonstrated that he was by his resurrection.

They were pricked in their hearts and they said, what should we do? Peter said, change your mind. Repent. And that’s what happened. mind. They reversed their mind from believing that Christ was an imposter to recognizing that He was the Lord of glory. And they trusted Christ and 3,000 Jews get saved on the day of Pentecost because they changed their mind about who Christ is. And that’s how they got saved. So that’s the message here. He says, repent for theBUSY for the Kingdom of Heaven in his hand.

What does that mean? The Kingdom of Heaven more literally would read the Kingdom of the heavens. It’s talking about the Millennium. It’s talking about the Kingdom Christ will establish. And it’s really talking about when the heavens will rule over the earth. And during the thousand years, Christ, who is God, will come down and physically rule over the earth from Jerusalem and His throne will be there in Jerusalem. And God’s will will be down on earth as it is in heaven.

The Lord’s Prayer, or Christ taught us to pray. It’s not a prayer for today by the way. Let’s go over to Matthew 6 and look at what it says here. It’s a prayer for the kingdom. So it’s really not a prayer for us because the next event on God’s program for us is the Rapture. We’re not praying for the kingdom. We’re praying for the Lord to catch us out of the Rapture, which you will catch out every believer. But in Matthew chapter 6 verse 9, Jesus says, after this man who therefore pray ye, our Father, which art in heaven, how would be thy name?

Thy kingdom what? It’s a prayer for the kingdom to come. The thousand-year earthly reign, when finally there will be peace on earth, good will toward men. Look at the next phrase in verse 10 of Matthew 6, “‘I will be done in earth as it is in heaven.” That hasn’t happened yet. But during the millennium, God’s will will be done on earth as it is in heaven. There will be peace on earth, goodONDON, Christ will rule, and He will bring peace on the earth.

And believers will come back and rule and reign with Him in the heavens. We who are coming back in our heavenly bodies will rule and reign with Christ here on this That doesn’t happen yet. I really don’t believe we ought to be reciting this prayer out there. I think it’s a lesson on how to pray. There are many elements here that we can learn from. But what did Jesus just say before that? He says, when you pray, don’t use vain repetitions.

I think what people are doing today is a direct violation of what He just told us not to do. In verse 7, people memorize this and they recite it over and over and over and over again. He said, don’t use vain repetitions. Prayer is conversation. And he wants us to just talk to him. But there are principles in this prayer that we can learn from. And when we get to chapter 6, we’ll talk about the things that we might learn about prayer from this wonderful model prayer.

But I don’t think he ever intended us to do that. When we started this church, a number of families were of the background where the church always recited the Lord’s prayer. And I moved him away from that because I believe that we really shouldn’t be violating Christ’s own rule here, that we should not be doing repetitious prayers. He doesn’t want us to say the same prayer again and again and again in a repetitious way. It’s not a memorized prayer.

You might petition him for the same thing again and again and again. That’s different. But to say the same memorized prayer, it loses its realness, doesn’t it? And the same thing would be if you’re talking to your parents and you had a little memorized speech every time you talked to your mom and dad. And maybe you take out your little piece of scratch paper and say the same thing that your mom to your mom and dad every day all the days of your life.

Your mom and dad wouldn’t appreciate that would they? And our heavenly father doesn’t appreciate it either. And he says don’t do that. I don’t want you to do that. He says I want you to just talk to me from your heart. and be real with me and he says, I’ll hear your prayers and I’ll answer them. So the Kingdom of Heaven is the Millennium. It’s not around right now. It’s been postponed because Christ was rejected. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah saying, the voice of one that cried through the wilderness, prepare you the way of the Lord, make straight his paths or make his paths straight.

So here Isaiah 40 predicted John the Baptist ministry that he would prepare the way for Christ, that He would introduce Christ and he would present Christ. I want you to go at this point. In John 3, we see one of the clear presentations of John the Baptist. What did John the Baptist preach? And no wonder he’s considered the greatest of the prophets. Wow, he was clear. He was direct. He was focused. He was right on. Look at what the Bible says is it quotes John the Baptist in John 3.36, page 11.18.

This is a direct quote from John the Baptist. I love the guy. Wow, this is a favorite verse of the night. John 3, 18, He, the believer on the sun, has everlasting life. He, the believer not the sun, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. Boy, you can’t get any clearer than that. That’s John the Baptist. What did he preach? He, the believer on the sun, has everlasting life. He that does not believe on the sun shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Well, that’s clear. And that was his message, and we’re going to see more about that. But let me just illustrate. If I could let these pieces of paper represent us, this verse says something interesting that John brings out. If I could let this hand represent the wrath of God, the Bible says that the unbeliever has the wrath of God presently abiding over him. So the unbeliever is living dangerously. Should the unbeliever die without Christ, the wrath of God would fall upon him.

And so think about how the unbelievers living at great risk because the wrath of God presently is already condemned, he’s already sentenced to hell, he’s already headed for hell. God’s wrath is abiding on him present tense. And should he die without changing his mind and trusting Christ, the wrath of God falls upon the unbeliever and therefore ever going to be in the eternal lake of fire. John the Baptist was a great preacher and he warned people and he said, if you believe on Christ you have eternal life, but if you don’t believe on him you’ll not see life, but the wrath of God abides on you.

I just sometimes because of this verse, I envision people as they walk down the street and I say, wow, God’s wrath is hanging over that person and should they die, the wrath of God will come down upon him and he’ll be forever separated from God in hell. Every lost person is walking in danger of eternal damnation because God’s wrath is already abiding over them. They are already condemned. They are already sentenced to hell. But because Jesus took their place, because Jesus paid us in debt, because Jesus came back from the dead to make good on his promise.

All that we believe on him would receive the wonderful gift of everlasting life. That’s what it’s all about. Paul says in Romans 1 16, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, which is the death barrel and resurrection story where Christ died and paid for your sin debt in full by his death and shed blood. It says, I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for if the gospel is the power, the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth.

So the means by which we’re saved is the gospel. And when we believe that gospel, according to Romans 1 and 16, we become saved. It is the power of God unto salvation. It’s the message of what Christ did for you and me at the cross. It’s not about what you do for God. I hear it all the time. And I think I mentioned it yesterday. It just sticks in my mind because I was talking to a man who is near death.

And he says, I gave my life to Christ years ago. And I said, well, that’s wonderful. But guess what? That doesn’t save you. It’s not you giving anything to Christ. It’s not you’re giving your life or giving your money or giving your time. None of those things will save you. It’s what God gave for you. John 3 16, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. So God is the giver. He gave his son to die for you.

Christ died and he paid your sin and that full was buried in rose again from the dead. When you trust in what Christ did for you at the cross and how He paid for your sin, that full God saves you. Has nothing to do with what you’re gonna do with God. I’ll never forget, I was talking to a man and I said, where are you gonna go when you die? And of course, he immediately came back with a statement.

He says, I’m not ready. And he says, I’m not ready to get right with God. Well, I think he had some habits and things that were going on in his life that he didn’t want to give up. And I said, let me just ask you a question. Do you know what you have to do to become right with God? And he fumbled around and didn’t really know. I said, to be right with God, you have to be as righteous as God.

Do you think you could ever become as righteous as God? He said, no. I said, well, you’re right. Buy your works, buy my works. I could never become as righteous as God. But guess what? God had Christ die for you and me and pay our sin debt in full so that His very righteousness could be credited to your account. And you can’t go to heaven unless your is righteous as God. And to be right with God, you have to be as righteous as God.

And that occurs when you place your faith in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5, 21, one of my favorite verses says that God made Christ to be sinned for us. Christ who knew no sin that we might be made, that we might be made, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Have you looked that up before? Second Corinthians 521. What a great verse that tells us what happened at the cross.

Jesus was made to be sinned. Your sins, my sins were laid on Christ and He paid for them. He was made to be sinned this one who is absolutely sinless, who is God in flesh, that we might be made, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Every believer has a standing before God that is really such that you are seen by God as though you are as righteous as God. The very righteousness of God is credited to the account of the believer and God sees you as righteous.

No wonder your eligible to enter heaven can be assured of going to heaven before you ever die. I’m Dr. Anglins from I pray that everybody is listening today as trusted Jesus as your Savior. If you haven’t, don’t waste another minute. Just tell the Lord, Lord I’m the sinner. I don’t understand much about the Bible, but I trust right now Jesus Christ as the one who made the full payment for my sin was buried and rose again from the dead.

I trust him right now to save me. Got to run. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming. Keep your eyes focused on the Lord and serve and share this good news, good gospel with your family and friends, and I hope I can bless you richly. And Dr. Englunds will bring you Bible.
