If Bibleline is not being broadcast in their area, then ask them to listen, Thee of the Internet at BibleLineMinistries.org. Join us for Dr. Lynchroom’s teaching for today as we turn to the Book of Matthew, chapter 6. So the Lord has taken care of it. And the same thing happened with our television. We weren’t going to go on C.P.N. and I didn’t even consider that.
we were threatened to go off the air on the access because of the, you know, they’re going to shut the whole access channel down. I had mentioned that and the family took me out to lunch and they said, why don’t you try CGN and they gave me a check and I looked at it was for 10,000. So I was stuck. I had to spend them any that way because when somebody gives a check that’s designated, we spend it the way they ask that to be spent or we don’t take it.
We just, here’s your money back or we do it. So I said, okay, we’ll do it. At At the same time, Wayne Wetzel, who is the Vice President of CTN, was listening to my radio program, and he called him and said, you ought to be on our station. And so the Lord also already had created an open door over there, and then we produced our first shows, and then we’ve been on a whole year, and now we’re going on our second year on that.
And at $10,000, we’ve got it started. Without that startup money, we wouldn’t have started. So it was like the Lord provided it. So I think what we’re reading here is that if we just do what we’re to be doing and God will take care of our needs as they come along and don’t worry about tomorrow but do what we need to do right today and as tomorrow comes he’ll take care of you. So we signed another contract and said God put ground under my feet because really faith is really stepping out where you don’t know where you’re putting your foot down.
really trusting that God will put ground underneath your feet when the foot comes down, there’s ground to stand on. And you’re stepping out believing that he’s going to take care of you. Abraham left Iraq and he went to a place he didn’t know where he’s going. He just believed God that there was a place where he was going to take him and that God would bless him. And so he walked and went to a place he’d never seen. Never been there before.
Never saw Israel. Never saw a map about Israel. Never read a book on Israel, I’m sure. He just says, not knowing whether he went. But he went believing that God would take care of everyone he got there. And God supplied his needs. So God wants to guide and direct our lives. But sometimes we don’t move forward to believe him. The key verse, if you mark any verse, seek ye first, the kingdom of God. That principle is all the way through the Bible.
Is God first or is God last? You might remember the prophet Elisha. He came during a terrible time of famine and drought. And he came to the town of Zarfath, and there he met a little widow. And when he came to this widow, she had just enough food to prepare a last meal. She said, I’m preparing my last meal for myself and my son, And then we’re going to die. This is our last meal. It seemed almost unreasonable. But he said, give me first.
And if you remember the story, that when she acted in faith and believed to give that first to God’s prophet, that what happened? As she reached into that barrel. And reached also to get oil from her crews. It was full and it remained full. God supplied. And so oftentimes God doesn’t supply until we take the step of faith to believe him that he’ll do it. And when this woman put herself last and put the Lord first, you know, made the Lord, the Lord obviously blessed her.
And her story is throughout the Bible when you put God first in your life that God is going to take care of you and supply your needs whatever they might be. And as believers, we ought to do that. Sometimes, we fail to go to the Lord with what we need and ask Him because we’re to be asking Him as well. That’s something for all of us to be reminded of, to pray about everything, no matter what it is, no matter how small or insignificant it might seem.
I think I love those prayers when God answers small things almost better than the larger things because you know that God is really doing them. I’ll never forget when my daughter was having a birthday and I was looking for the camera to take pictures at that birthday party. I had no class searching everywhere going nuts looking for it. And finally I said, Lord, I need to find that camera. I need your help. I cannot find it. I’ve looked everywhere.
And just as I uttered that prayer, I saw a cockroach. I hate him. No cockroach will live within my presence if I can get it. And so I chased it and it ran underneath the sofa. And I said, well, that’s not going to spare your life. And I grabbed the sofa and I flipped it up on its back because I was determined to get it. And just as I was ready to raise my foot and crush the roach, right next it was a camera.
I would have never looked underneath the sofa. The camera was lying right there on the sofa, right next to the roach, which died by the way. But I said, thank you, Lord. I thought that was so significant. I never forgotten that because the roach ran right where the camera was. I mean, he had the roach lead me to the camera and I killed the roach and I found the camera. Isn’t that amazing? But I mean, you know, those kind of prayers and the results that God gives you just know God did that because this little roach could have run in any direction he wanted.
And he ran right for where the camera was. And so if you ever lost your keys, a lot of times, I’ll struggle for a long time to lose something. And you say, where in the world is it? And you struggle to start looking in. You find when you pray, boom, the Lord will help you find it. Or whatever it is. So I think that these are all lessons that are all here in this chapter where we just trust God and we call upon Him and see Him work and see Him bless and God wants us to do that.
So it’s a wonderful chapter. Then we need to be careful we don’t do it to please other people because if you’re pleasing other people then you’re probably not pleasing God because you have to make a choice here. So people that fast to let people think they’re spiritual or they do their prayers openly just to be heard or they do other things just to be seen of people. The Bible says they have their reward and you have to say am I doing it for the right reason?
go ahead with courage and do it with other people like it or not. And you have to almost do that sometimes. You have to say, this is what God wants me to do, and I have to do it. And the challenges are there all the time. But not many people I don’t think want to do that today, as I think we are slipping into apostasy very, very quickly. The end times are here, the time is running out, and we’re out of it.
Welcome to the book of Matthew. And we’re glad to have you here. And I believe we are in chapter 7. Chapter 7 it says here in verse 1, judge not that you be not judged. I think that’s talking in the area of things that we cannot judge. You cannot judge hidden things, secret things, motives and so on. So we need to be careful. But there are areas where we can judge. You know, if a person says they don’t believe in Christ, you can tell them you’re lost.
going to hell and if a person with their lips states they don’t believe in some doctrine, hell or something else, you say you’re wrong and so on. But there are things that you cannot judge. Those things will one day come out. The Bible says they’re hidden things, the secret things of the heart, the motives of the heart. So I really can’t judge your motives unless you tell me what your motive is. I can misjudge you in that area so therefore I have to be Verse 2, for with whatudicement you judge, you shall be judged.
With what measure you meet, it shall be measured to you again. So basically it’s how you treat other people. And if you are critical of other people, especially when you judge them in areas where you really don’t know what’s in their head, you don’t know their motives. And obviously they’re going to come back at you and treat you the same way. It’s kind of like the golden rule which we’ll see expressed a little bit later here. It says in verse 3, and why behold us thou the moat?
In your brother’s eye, but not considers not the beam that is in your own eye. So here it talks about sometimes people will pick out a speck in somebody else’s life to talk about when they’ve got a host of problems in their own life that are greater than the problem they’re pointing out in somebody else. So the Bible says basically clean up your own life before you come down on other people. And, or verse 4, or how well thou say to thy brother, Let me pull the little speck out of your eye and behold, there’s a beam, a huge plank in your own eye.
So, it says you’re a hypocrite if you do that. You’re listening to Bible Eye, a teaching ministry that’s dedicated to delivering the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are many items available from our resource center such as Dr. Hankel and Strom’s DVD teachings on the topics of Saved by Grace, baptism, and the righteous versus the unrighteous, in addition to many others when you call 1-800-576-3771. Now, we’re going to take a break from our teaching to listen to Dr.
Lindstrom answering questions from callers, and then we’ll rejoin today’s teaching. We have James down in Miami, Florida, and James, welcome to Bibleline You are on the air. Yes, good morning Dr. Lindstrom. I’ve been listening to you for a while now. Thank God for your ministry of teaching. That helped me a lot. I want to make a comment. I have a friend of mine that we were discussing about the rapture. And we can’t say debate about if when the rapture comes and you’re in a situation like a commit for an occasion and you’re supposed to be saved when the rapture comes and your commit for an occasion that Jesus Christ will still take you with them.
I told him that’s just not so. And the other question I want to ask is, and when the Bible works, they’re going to see a cough up this stage. They mean they’re going to come back to the Bible, they’re going to reform again, they’re all going to come up, you know, as they were before they were devoured by the sea animal or whatever, I’m going to hang up and just keep you on the radio. Thanks for everyone’s got the restroom.
Well on that first one, it doesn’t matter what you might be doing when Christ comes, you’re going to be raptured up, but it’ll certainly be embarrassing. The Bible talks about some Christians being ashamed when Christ returns. Let me give you a great verse and there’ll be a shame that they’ll also suffer the loss of reward at that event. You don’t want that to happen to you. So as a believer, you don’t wanna be caught doing things you’d be embarrassed doing when Jesus comes back.
In fact, the fact that we know He’s coming soon ought to cause us to live a pure life so that we’ll be pleasing when he takes us up in his sight. But it says over in 1 John chapter 2 and verse 28, and now little children abide in him, that when he shall appear, we may have confidence and not be what ashamed before him and his coming. 1 John 2, 28. You don’t want to be ashamed when Christ comes.
Christ will be ashamed of some of those believers that are caught up, and some of those believers are going to be deeply ashamed, and they’ll suffer the loss of reward, but they’ll still be saved. Once you trust Christ, he will not cast you out for any reason. Write it down, John 637, him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. And then not only that, but verse 39 of John 6, Jesus said he would not lose one.
So you’re not lost by what you do. You are kept by Jesus who will not lose anyone. And so you’re saved forever. on the question of Revelation 20 at the Great White Throne Judgment when the sea gave up the dead which were in it. I really personally think that that’s referring to the angels. The angels lived on this earth prior to Adam and Eve. That original earth which was inhabited with plants and animals and dinosaurs was destroyed apparently maybe as NASA says by a huge asteroid with 150 miles of ammeter that struck in the area that you could have peninsula in the Gulf of Mexico.
They say that so much debris was cast up into the atmosphere that the sun’s light was cut off for millions of years and that accounts for the ice ages. As scientists tell us if our sun’s light were cut off for as little as 72 hours, the earth would become quick frozen. Then about 6,000 years ago, God warmed up the earth and put life on it again and this time he puts man in charge over the earth. I believe the present land masses were once the bottoms of the oceans.
If you go up to Pike’s Peak outside of Denver, Colorado, you’ll someone find seashells. Why? Did somebody just take truckload after truckload of seashells up there and dump them around? No. They’re a part of the geology. This was once the bottom of the ocean, the Bible, the oceanographers tell us. I’ve been in the Garcia caves in Mexico, 4000 feet above sea level all the interior walls of these caves are seashells Oceanographers tell us this was the one to the bottom of the ocean.
So I believe what is the bottom of the oceans today was the land in the time of the original creation and vice versa. And so the place where the angels lived is now submerged and is under God’s curse in a sense as he judged those fallen angels. And so the sea, the area that is now the land that was once the original earth is now covered by the oceans and the dead or the angels will be brought up out of their unjudged and cast into the lake of fire.
Hope that helps. And we’re going to go now to Linda in Dunedin, Florida. Linda, welcome to Bibleline. Good morning, Cassius. Linda, how are you? Good. Turn your radio down. We’re hearing the radio in the background. Okay. I want to make a comment about the exclusivity that was brought about by the Bishop of New England and they were saying about evangelizing Muslims and to clarify that there is only one way and I’m reading that in Acts 9 verse 2 that Jesus is the only way.
Can you please elaborate on what is going on with Bishop Lowe and departing from the way the folks gospel? Well, it’s not only he, but I mean, this is happening everywhere. It seems like an all-out apostasy that’s happening in departure from the world. So anyway, Linda, we’re living in an age of apostasy. It says in 2 Timothy, chapter 4 and verse 3, the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine. Actually the word endure means they’ll stand up against and they’ll not put up with sound doctrine.
They’ll actually be aggravated with it. They’ll want their ears tickled so they’ll heaped to themselves teachers that will entertain them. The churches today have become entertainment centers and a lot of Sunday’s morning services are basically aerobic sessions. People are on their feet dancing and jumping around waving their arms and they might as well go to an aerobics class. The early church, if you read the book of Hanks, came together for the Apostles’ Doctrine. That is the study of the Word of God.
We have absolutely gone the other direction. You’ll find nothing about jumping around or praise and worship in the early church. They came together to study the Word of God. That’s not happening today. And that’s what the Bible said they would not endure. They would stand up against that and they would turn away their ears the truth of eternal fables or lies that we’re seeing it happen right before our eyes today. We’re now going to go to Franz in my Emmy.
And Franz, welcome to my one. You’re on the air. Ah, yes. How are you? Good. Yeah, I wanted to ask you a question. I’ve been somewhat troubled by a, I listen to your program all the time, by the way. Good. I’ve been a little bit troubled by the issue of baptism i consider myself at the table of christ when i’m reading john when you get across the stock in the academia it makes it very clear the baptism is a very important part of becoming a disciple of christ likewise and acts too well just stop stop for just a minute stop for just a minute in john three you will not for it find the word baptize at all It’s not there.
You’re reading something into that passage is not there. The word is B-O-R-N. There’s a tremendous difference between being born and being baptized. Now when you came into this world out of your mother’s womb, that was birth. When you were baptized, that was another ball game altogether where you were immersed in water. Jesus said you have to be born of water, which is the flesh, birth. If you read the context there, it’s very clear. You’re enclosed in a sack of water in your mother’s womb.
When that water sack breaks, then you come out into this world and that’s the birth of water. It calls it in verse six, the flesh birth. That was just born of the flesh, the flesh. Jesus said, marvel not that I said unto you, you must be born again. So the second birth, we already have the water birth. The second one is the spirit birth. There’s nothing about water baptism at all in John three. You cannot find it. If you can show me the word baptize in John chapter three, then I’ll be absolutely shocked because it’s not there.
It’s just not there. But there’s also in Romans 6 and you got Acts 2 that I referenced before. Okay, well let’s go to Romans 6. That’s not talking about water. There are 10 different baptisms taught in the New Testament. Most of them are dry. For example, Christ talked about, or John the Baptist talked about Christ baptizing with the Holy Spirit. That’s not water. He talks about Christ baptizing with fire. That’s not water. We find in Matthew chapter 20 talks about the baptism of death.
That’s not water. And so on and so on and so on. There are 10 different baptisms and only a couple of them are with water. And water has nothing to do with our salvation. So in Romans 6 it talks about a baptism into Christ’s death. That is the baptism of the Holy Spirit which places you into Christ’s body. In 1 Corinthians 12, 13 it says, by one spirit are we all baptized into one body? Whether we are bond or free or Jew or Greek and have made the drink into one spirit, the result is you are verse 27 of 1 Corinthians 12, the body of Christ and members of particular.
So therefore, when Christ was crucified, you were crucified because God saw you in Christ’s body nailed to that cross at Calvary. When When Jesus was laid in the tomb, God saw you laying in that tomb according to Romans 6, because you were baptized into his body and therefore into his death and his burial. And when Christ rose, you rose because you were seen by God in Christ’s body. Has nothing to do with water. You’ll not find any water in Romans 6.
There is no water there. I recommend that you get my CD on baptisms and I teach all ten baptisms. Most of them have nothing to do with your salvation at all and they are most of them without a liquid or without water at all Most people when they see the word baptized their minds lock up water water water Not true you need to be a better Bible student and in John 3. There’s no water Roman 6 There’s no water and most of the time we’re not talking about a water baptism when you see the word baptize Okay, then we have to agree to disagree agree.
But thank you so much. Okay. And by the way, Franz, if you’re trusting in water baptism to get you to heaven, you won’t be saved because you’re trusting in works and not Christ. All those who teach water baptism for salvation are not going to make heaven because if you add any human work to what Christ did for you on the cross, you’ll not be saved. Let me quote for you Titus 3.5, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy, he saved us.
And then it says, by the washing of the new birth, when you are born again, it happens at the moment you trust Christ, you are washed, but you’re not washed in water, you’re washed in the blood of Christ. And it’s only the blood of Christ that can take away your sin. And what I’m concerned about, Franz, is that you’re not going to go to heaven that you’re not saved. If you’re trusting that you have to be water baptized, that makes salvation of yourself.
And the Bible says salvation is by grace, Ephesians 2, 8, through faith in Jesus Christ, and it’s not of yourself. It is the gift of God, and it’s not of works. Let’s say the man should both. If you had to do something, that would obviously be a human work and water baptism has nothing to do with salvation. Please remember that the dying thief never had a chance to get baptized and the dying thief Christ said to him, today, the house shall be with me in paradise.
He could have said, I’m sorry, but you don’t have a chance to get baptized. It looks like you’re going to go to hell. The dying thief was saved on the spot by trusting Christ and Savior. time for us to take a short break now. When we return, we will continue this question and answer segment and then hear more Bible teaching from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. criticism is one of two ordinances that the Lord has given, and neither one of them save. The Lord’s Supper is one that the believers observe continuously throughout their Christian life as a…
He said, rememberance of Christ’s death and what a price he paid is broken body and shed blood represented by the elements. But then we also have water baptism, which is to occur once as a testimony of the fact that you’ve been cleansed of your sin by the blood of Jesus Christ. Water will never take away sin and you could be anchored out in the Atlantic Ocean for years and it still wouldn’t remove your sin. In fact, Jeremiah, it’s almost humorous.
tells us how you can even use strong soap and it will not remove your sin. It would still be marked before the Lord according to the Prophet Jeremiah. So what it doesn’t save, but water is symbolic. And here in 1 Corinthians chapter 1, Paul differentiates between the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper and the preaching of the gospel, which is what saves. In verse 17, in 1 Corinthians 1 it says, for Christ sent me not to baptize, that sounds kind of a surprising statement, isn’t it?
Christ sent me not to baptize, but he sent me to preach the gospel. That tells us that water baptism is not a part of the gospel message, the saving message of the death, the burial, the resurrection of Christ. It’s not in the same ballgame. And so the ordinances of the church are on a lesser level than that of the gospel. The great commission and what Paul was given to do was to preach the gospel. Let me read it again.
Christ sent me not to baptize but to preach the gospel. So he was to preach the gospel and if water baptism were essential for salvation, it would then be a part of the gospel and Paul could never have said this. The reason why he says that is because of the contention that arose over who baptized whom in Corinth. We find here that some said, well, Paul baptized me and others said, well, Peter baptized me or others said, Paul has baptized me.
And so Paul says this remarkable statement. Think about it with me, please. 1 Corinthians 1, 14. Paul says, I thank God that I baptized none of you. Whoa, what a statement. Now think about it, if what a baptism were necessary for salvation, Paul is saying, I thank God you’re all going to hell. He could never have said that. And so what he’s saying here is because of the division that arose over who baptized who he was glad that he was kind of out of the mix.
He only baptized a couple of families. Apparently he says here, I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Christmas and Gaius, lest any should say that I baptized in my own name. That was what was happening at Corinth and obviously this caused division. So we find here that he tells us that water baptism really has nothing to do with salvation or he could not have made that statement. He says, I thank God that I baptized none of you.
Does he say here, I’m glad none of you are saved. I’m glad you’re going to help. No! He’s simply saying that he was glad he was not a part of the division that occurred there over water baptism and then he tells us that baptism is not in the same grouping or level of importance as that of the gospel. Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel. And it says not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
It’s interesting that you can change up the message a little bit, and all of a sudden it’s no longer the saving message of Christ, death, burial, and resurrection. And a person will have the cross of Christ count nothing! That’s scary. And that’s what I’m pleading for is for souls. I met a young man and he believed that he had to be water baptized to be saved. I said, you’re not saved. He said, yes, I am. I said, no, you’re not.
He said, yes, I am. I said, no, you’re not. I said, you’re not saved because you’re trusting in a human work to save you in addition to what Christ did. And he said, no, I’m not. And I said, yes, you are. And he said, no, I’m not. And I said, you are. I pointed out that Jesus said that baptism was a work, that he was going to fulfill the Old Testament type according to Matthew chapter 3 verse 15 when he was baptized by getting water baptized.
That certainly Christ didn’t need to be water baptized to be saved. And we find that in Titus 3.5 it says not by works of righteousness which we have done, which water baptism is a work of righteousness, not by works of righteousness which we have done Titus 3.5, but by his mercy he saved us. Going to go back, and now, book away the second half hour of Able-N Jill here we go! You like to help Bible-9 continue in your area?

We hope that you’re learning with us as you listen to Bibleline and hear real life questions with scriptural answers from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Please, make plans to join us and open your Bible as we also present in-depth studies covering a variety of biblical topics. Now, let’s return to our question and answer segment and then you’ll hear more Bible teaching from Dr.
Hank Lindstrom. We have Darnell. And Darnell is in St. Petersburg. And Darnell, welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Hey, Doc Mahang, how you doing? Good. All right, do what’s talking about the that not the angels that were in the water and revelations or something like that They will come up out of the water. Well, I think it speaks about their dwelling place was The sea giving up the dead as opposed to the land. I think is a reference to probably angels We know the angels are cast into hell with Satan or right after Satan is in Revelation 20 verse 10 you have Satan cast into the lake of fire where the beast defaults profit are and then we look for a reference where angels are cast in and it must be that phrase the sea gave up the dead which were in it.
So I believe that the earth was originally inhabited with all of God’s angels and Lucifer was the god of this world ruling over all of them and it was plant and animal life and we’re by the way using that animal life today in our gas tank. The petroleum, the oil is the remains of the life forms that were destroyed and have been preserved in pockets, they fossilized, in pockets underneath the earth in these oil reserves. The coal deposits are fossilized plant life.
We burn that coal, we burn that petroleum to data keeper, we’ll go, that’s a part of the destruction they have on the earth. Nobody can explain why we have these pockets of coal and animal life preserved under the the earth except that was a part of a cataclysmic judgment upon the earth. And the angels, I believe, I think like some of mythology has some basis like the lost continent of Atlantis. I think the Atlantic was once a continent and the North American continent that we’re on was once at the bottom of the sea and oceanographers can demonstrate that there are seashells inland even on the top of the mountains in the Rockies where they say at one time this was at the bottom of the ocean.
So I think God reversed everything. And so the areas where the angels lived will deliver up those angels that are going to be cast into hell with Satan. And I think they come out of the area that which is now the seas of the earth. Could you explain this one thing to me because I, what you said to me makes much sense. But I also heard of another fellow he was getting ready to talk about a teaching called particles to particles.
Like if someone, suppose they died at sea and they had their ashes spread out in the sea or something like that, Bill. Could you have you heard of that? What are we talking about? He’s talking about teaching about particle to particle to something. I have no idea, but you know, if you fell overboard, knew we’re drowned, and the sharks ate you, that’s not a problem as far as the resurrection. If God needs to find the exact molecules that made up your body, he can do it.
So I have no problem with that. But I don’t, I think that the number of people killed at sea are so few compared to those who die on land that is probably not talking about that. I think it has to do with this large body of angels. And it seems like there’s always in the Bible an affinity between the fallen angels and the sea. You know, when the angels, the fallen angels, the demons that were in the swine on the edge of the sea of Galilee, and they ran headlong into the sea and they were drowned, it seems like there’s always a connection between water and the demons.
That seems to be the place to where they’d like to go, where they used to once live, which is now the bottoms of the oceans. I don’t know, well, it’s a speculation on my part, but I think it fits pretty well with scripture, I think. Right, it sounds good, it needs two bucks. Thank you so much for calling in Darnell. That was Darnell in St. Petersburg. We have brother Atwell, he’s back. He’s back, brother Atwell from Tonona, south of Florida, welcome to the program.
Yeah, sir, you know, I’ve been listening about the rapture with you the small end I got two main questions for you. I was reading here at the Law of Seam Church, where Jesus addressed, and I’m assuming this church age is the Law of Seam Church age. My question is, he said, I know my work, now that I need a hot, cold a hot, I would that work cold a hot. So then, because of that, Luke Warrman, either cold almost pew the atom about now my question is why in the world there’s people think that this is a church it’s going to be a rapture when this is the worst church of the bunch there were seven church ages through history and how can people believe that they don’t want to do nothing you know what i mean the do not in church age and yet.
When they go to explain it, they go to 310, talking about the Philadelphia church. There’s in 310, behold there has kept the word about patience. I will also keep me from the adaptation which shall come upon all the world to try them that dwell on their side of the mouth. But yet they use 310 to justify they’re going to be the ones left. How can you do that, sir? The answer is everybody in the church age is going to be in the event of the Rapture.
And the Rapture is really pictured to us in chapter 4 verse 1 of the book of Revelation where John says he saw a door opened in heaven and he heard a voice that was like the son of a trumpet, it was Christ. And he says, come up hither and from that point on the church is no longer mentioned in the book of Revelation as it is raptured out. And then it says I’m going to show you the things which must be hereafter.
as the future things of the tribulation period, the millennium and then eternity. The laity of the sea and church was not in danger of losing their salvation, but they were in danger of losing their opportunity to be a light or a witness in the world. Christ said that you make me nauseous. He says you make me want to throw up. You make me want to, the nice word I guess is regurgitate because he says that you are neither hot nor cold and because you’re lukewarm you make me nauseous.
And so he was telling them that he wanted them to benefit when he comes back, not suffer the loss of reward. But he says, you all think you’re doing fine, but he says you’re naked and wretched and blind and poor. But he says, I’m counseling you, verse 18 of Revelation 3, to buy of me gold, try it in the fire. And he wanted them to be rich. In other words, the riches that really count and the riches that are given out at the judgment seat of Christ.
when as a believer you live for Christ you will have rewards that are going to be eternal given to you based upon your deeds. But this church was not going to lose salvation but he said you’re going to enter heaven with no rewards. And he says please, please listen to my counsel. You know Jesus according to Isaiah 9 6 is the one whose name is wonderful counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace and he’s counseling this church to get their life in order so that they can continue to be a light or a lampstand in this world.
But I think God is about ready to pull the plug in. It might be this year. He’s going to rapture all of us out and obviously we don’t deserve salvation nor do we deserve to be raptured. But it’s going to happen based on God’s grace. And then we’re saved by grace, brother Atwell, through faith in Jesus Christ. This salvation is not of ourselves. It’s the gift of God and it’s not of works, list any man should boast or brag.
So it has nothing to do with our works. Good points and Brother Atwell, thanks for calling in today. We have now Kathleen in Tampa, Florida. Kathleen, welcome to the Bible. I know. Oh, hi, Dr. Listom. I’m new to the Bible. So I was just wondering what it says in scripture about Lord Jesus showing himself to you in dreams. It doesn’t. And I would be a little bit skeptical of anybody who claims that they’re having these dreams. That’s happening a lot in some areas.
I know this Todd Bentley in Lakeland, Florida says that he’s been caught up to heaven numerous times. And he actually sat down with the Apostle Paul in his log cabin in heaven. I didn’t know they had log cabins in heaven, but apparently Todd Bentley says he’s been there and I don’t know where this guy makes these things up. but this is not to be expected, not to be looked for. I would stay out of that area. I think this is the area of the occult, and this is the area where demons and Satan seem to flourish.
Don’t go there at all. You don’t need to have any of those kinds of communications because he reveals himself to us in scripture. You know, even Peter, as he writes about the last days, talks about us loving Jesus, even though we have not seen him. And he knows that most of the people in this age from Pentecost to La Rapture will never ever see Christ until they see him in heaven. And yet he tells us here that we love him and I’ll read the verse to you, it’s a beautiful verse.
It says here about his glorious appearing in verse seven of first Peter. And then verse eight he says, when or rather whom having not seen you love, in whom though you have not yet seen him, yet believing you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. So we’re not to be looking to see Christ until he appears. So if you’re seeing appearances, I think you might be getting Full, Satan is an angel of light. Second Corinthians 11 verse 14 says Satan is an angel of light and he will deceive people and you hear these stories of people that have had the life after death experiences and they see this angel of light.
I think they’re seeing not Jesus. Although they claim they’re seeing Jesus. I think they’re seeing Satan because the message coming back from these so-called appearances is usually always contrary to the Bible. That’s why you have to be really careful in the area of these kinds of things. And I would say stay away from it, Kathleen. Okay, thank you. You’re very welcome and I hope that helps. It’s a day of real craziness out there. We have Joe in Pembert-Pines, Florida saying in X1 it says, what does verse 7 mean?
People who say we can’t know if we that we’re close to the Lord’s return can try to use this as a proof text. What it’s saying is that at that particular point in time God had not clearly revealed his plan for this present age. But the kingdom that was promised is still going to take place. But as to the time of when that kingdom would appear, it obviously appears after the church age, which is 2,000 years in length, that began 10 days after that little discussion there in Acts 1.
It happened after Christ ascends in verses 9, 10 and 11 of Acts 1, and it occurs 10 days later after that at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came to indollever’s and begin this Prince of Age. But after this age ends at the Rapture, then the last seven years will tick off and then we’ll know exactly when that kingdom will be established because it established exactly seven years after the Rapture. And that’s when it’ll be clear that it’s looming directly ahead once the people in the Tribulation are here in the Gospel.
Hope that helps a little bit, Joe. That concludes today’s question and answer segment. There’s no other topic that is more important to us than the gospel of Jesus Christ, and it was Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s mission to spread the gospel. Through your support for Bibleline, you too can help to spread the gospel of Christ throughout the world and to reach others with the message of salvation through Jesus. Verse 4, or how well thou say to thy brother, Let me pull the little speck out of your eye and behold, there’s a beam, a huge plank in your own eye. So, it says you’re a hypocrite, if you do that. First cast out the beam out of your own eye and then you’ll be able to see a little more clearly how to cast the speck out of your brother’s eyes.
So it’s good advice is to be careful that you don’t judge others for the very same things that you might be doing yourself and to be honest about all that. Verse 6, give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast you your pearls before swine lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and render you. So sometimes our people are not going to hear truth and the Bible is basically saying it wastes a lot of time on those people.
You can spend a lot of time and you’re not going to get anywhere. And there’s a lot of folks that are hungry that do want to hear and that’s the one you ought to concentrate on. I’ve seen some people that wanted to concentrate on cult members and they just didn’t get very far because those people are really blinded and really locked in. It’s hard to shake them loose and so you can certainly pray for them and witness to them, but I wouldn’t spend all your life working on somebody who’s blinded from the truth.
You need to go for people who are open. And the Lord will guide you to those kind of people. And the ones that are hardened, you’re pretty much going to have to, it says here, don’t cast your pearls on the swine, which is talking I think exactly about that. Later in Timothy it says, a person that is a heretic after the first and second admonition reject. In other words, walk away and go talk to somebody else. They say you can take a horse to water, but you can’t make a horse drink.
So you can’t force somebody to believe. And if they don’t want to hear what you have to say, then you have to just let it go. Pray for them, but don’t waste all that time on them. Just occasionally come back at them, but if they don’t want to hear them, then you can’t make them. They say you can take a hippie to the bath that you can’t make him wash. And I don’t know how you offer that. Anyway, remember those days when people were, didn’t seem to bathe and didn’t care for their bodies, they looked like they’re mess.
What did it take them to throw a bit of waterhole and shake around a little bit? Yes, ma’am. One of others are possibly listening, and I’m going to keep on talking. You have to make the call, but some people just don’t want to hear, and you go right to the next person. the one who is listening and Lord will use that. Because you can spend a lot of time on some people who are never going to hear you. Verse 7, ask and it shall be given unto you.
This is about prayer and seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. That should be an encouragement. God is saying if you ask, you’re going to receive and if you seek, you’ll find if you knock, it’s going to be opened. So for everyone that asks, get and he that seeketh findeth into him that knocketh it shall be opened. So if you’re looking for spiritual truth, you’re looking for God’s will, and you’re asking and looking and seeking and knocking, you’re going to find it.
Keep pursuing in spiritual direction and keep asking. James says, you have not because you ask not. So maybe you don’t have because you fail to ask God. here are encouragements to pray as it says in the Scofield between verse 6 and 7. It says in verse 9, what man is there of you whom if his son asked for bread, will he give you a stone? Probably none. I would have done that. Or if he asked for a piece of fish, you would give him a serpent.
Well, no good parent would do that. If he then being evil in nature, how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father, which is in heaven, give good things to them than ask Him. So just reason it out. If you are able to answer a child’s request in a correct way, don’t you think God will even do better in answering your request as you have need? So ask the Lord in prayer, He will give you.
Verse 12, essentially the golden rule, therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even to them, do so even so to them. For this is the law and the prophets. This sums up all of the message of the law and prophets is to do unto others as you have them do unto you. And you’re going to find that’s a good way to get along with people and treat everybody with respect, treat everybody as you’d like to be treated.
And God is going to say to you that it will turn out good if you do that. And it’s a good rule. Verse 13 says, inter-yet the straight gate. For why does the gate, and broad as the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in there at? In the middle of the verse it has the phrase the way. And I believe broad as the way, that is, whatever way men chooses that is not Christ is the broad way.
Whereas in verse 14, straight as the gate narrows the way and there’s that phrase again the way and in this case narrow is the way is I believe referring to Christ. John 14 6 Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life. So basically man tends to go his own way. You know it says that in Isaiah 53 6 all we like sheep have gone astray. We’ve turned everyone to his own way. Your way won’t get you there.
I always think of Frank Sinatra. He’d sing, I did it my way. I thought that is absolutely the opposite of God and His Word. We should say I did it God’s way, not my way. Whenever you do it your way, that is essentially what sin is all about. That’s what happened in the garden. God said you should not eat of the fruit. And the devil tempted even she She did it her way and ever since we’ve been in trouble, right?
Where would men be if she had not taken it to the fruit? They’d be eating strawberries in the garden to this day. You know, the old ladies, you can get mad at me now, but obviously both Adam and Eve sinned and brought that judgment down upon all of us. So here we have here, brought us away. I believe you can choose any religion you want. It’ll all take you to help. There’s no religion that can save. Salvation is not in religion, it’s in a person.
Christ is the way. When you trust Him, you’re saved. In contrast to, brought as a way, which means there are so many choices you can make that all take you to hell, there’s only one way that it’ll take you to heaven that’s Christ. And I have been called down to the years, narrow-minded. People would say, you mean, you’re excluding all these other people from going to heaven. Well, I’m not doing that, but I mean, when you say there’s only one way to heaven, obviously everybody who doesn’t accept Christ is excluded and they’re not going to make heaven.
So, narrow is the way that leads into life, tragically. Fewer find that way than those who find the false ways. So the majority or broad is the way or many are those which go in the broad way, which is any choice outside of Christ. So I have put in my margin Christ is the way in contrast to the other ways that Satan has out there. Satan has lots of choices, you have lots of options if you want to go to hell.
But there’s only one option to be saved and that’s Christ. Verse 15, how to detect false preachers or the old word prophets. Beware of false preachers. They come to you in what kind of clothing, sheep’s clothing. So when you see a false prophet, don’t expect that there’s going to be 666 on his forehead. Or if he has a t-shirt, it would say, I’m of the Antichrist or something like that. Or it doesn’t say false prophets. False prophets will appear to be like Christians.
But inwardly they are what? Ravening wolves. Always reminds me of the story of Little Red Riding Hood. You remember the story. The wolf gets to grandma’s house and swallows grandmother up and the wolf then gets in grandmother’s clothes and is there in bed when Little Red Riding comes in and she realizes that there’s something different here. Grandmother, why? What big ears you have. All the better to hear you with my ear. Why what big eyes you have and so on.
the wolf headed the skies on. The wolf looked like grandmother. So watch out. False preachers will come appearing to be genuine preachers of Christ. And then it talks about a washing, but it’s the washing of the new birth. But by the washing of the regeneration, being born again, being regenerated, the new birth that occurs when you trust Christ, that’s how you’re cleansed of your sin. Well in any case we discussed this for a period of time and finally this young man saw the point and he said, you know, I see the point and I realize that water baptism will not save me because we covered the many verses that talk about that and certainly God’s illustration, the dying thief, never had a chance to be baptized and those who argue for baptism say, well, he was under the
Old Testament economy. That’s not true. Jesus died first on the cross. And then the dying thieves died later, so they died after Christ. And so that means that they died on the New Testament side of the line. And the dying thief simply trusted Christ, and Jesus said, today thou shall be with me in Paradise. Anyway, this young man got saved. And he had been mistaught. He was attending a Bible college that taught that water baptism was essential for salvation.
And you know what he told me? Here’s what he said. He said, you’re the first person who has ever told me or warned me that I was in danger of going to hell Because I was trusting in water baptism plus Jesus Christ And you know most people never think anything about it and this young man thought that he was more secure More saved because he was adding these additional things to faith in Christ The bible says we’re saved by faith in Christ by grace and it is none of ourselves, it is not of works, and it is always salvation in the Bible in the absence of any human merit or work that we’re saying.
Well you know that Christmas during the vacation he came home from college, I got to knock on my door and guess what? He had six other guys with him. He talked these guys into coming home on the Christmas break to stay with him so that I could tell them how to go to heaven. He said, I brought all these guys so you could tell them why they were not saved because they were trusting in water baptism. They were going to a Bible college that had it wrong.
And they were all being mistaught that they had to be water baptized to be saved. Well we sat down and over the holiday we were able to lead all those six guys to Christ, recognizing that their water baptism would not save them. And that if they were trusting in Jesus plus anything they would be lost because it’s not Jesus plus anything, it’s Jesus alone that saves. Christ said I am the way. He didn’t say I and water baptism is the way or I in penance is the way or I in the masses the way or I in church membership is the way.
Christ said I am the way, the truth in the life and no man cometh unto the father about by me. And I am pleading for souls because Paul made that point clear. Romans 1 16 says, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For it the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth. I certainly teach water baptism, but on a lesser level than salvation. Salvation is by believing the gospel and Paul makes it very clear that water baptism in the gospel are not a mixed together but are separate.
As he said in 1 Corinthians 1, 17, Christ sent me not to baptize, but he sent me to preach the gospel. And it’s the gospel that saves. If you are trusting in Jesus Christ, plus anything to go to heaven, you’re not saved. If you’re trusting in Jesus Christ, plus baptism or anything else to be saved, you’re not saved. And I’m pleading for your soul because one day it will be too late. You need to check it out in the Bible for yourself.
Water cannot save you. Again, we have to run. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming and I hope you tell your friends about Bible life. God bless. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming and we believe he’s coming soon. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline ministries of Tampa, Florida.
