Now join us for Dr. Lynch from teaching for today as we turn to the book of Matthew chapter 12. Notice their backs were toward God’s temple and their faces toward what direction? The east and they worship the sun toward the east. So here they were with their backs to the temple and their faces toward the east and when the sun came up in the morning they worshiped the sun as it rose.
That was done every spring time when Astroth was her birthday was celebrated. Because she was a sex goddess, that’s why you have all the bunny rabbits and Easter eggs that celebrate this woman who is the mother of Baal. I just really can tell how God through the Bible was very irritated at this whole thing. That is incorporated into Christianity and most people talk about celebrating Easter. she was a sex goddess. I saw her in Ephesus in the hotel, a state that was a beautiful hotel in Turkey in Ephesus and had a huge lobby where the ceiling was several stories high.
But they had about an 18 foot statue of Astrother or Bail’s mother Easter. And when I go through the lobby, I almost kind of go like this because she was naked. She 18 breasts that were exposed on her because that’s who she is. She’s a sex goddess. So here this Multi-breasted big-breasted woman is right in the hotel lobby. You cannot go through without me Oh my goodness, but there she was and that’s what they worshiped That’s what people are worshiping when they say we’re gonna worship Easter.
They’re worshiping a sex goddess and That’s the money rabbits and that’s the Easter eggs. It’s all about sex and fertility and so on and I’m just pointing out here God got upset because they would celebrate her by facing the east and watching the sun come up and her son was Baal and he was called the sun god and the sun represented his life-giving qualities and so they worshiped the sun as it came up and so it was interesting that God wasn’t real happy to see people doing that and I believe Christ wrote his son down not son up.
But as a little boy, I remember in the church I was raised in, they’d get us up long before sunrise and get us dressed and get us out and get us over to the church. I’d be complaining, why do we have to get up? Why do we have to get dressed? Why do we have to get dressed? And all because we were told that Christ rose Sunday morning. And I didn’t discover until many years later that that is a true all.
And the sunrise service got wet into Christianity at the time of Constantine, and the sunrise has to do with Easter, which Her name is here and the buddy rabbits and the eggs, everything has come right down to us out of paganism. All right, back to Matthew. I got off on that, but Ezekiel 8, pretty powerful, isn’t it? Their backs were to the temple where God would show His presence, so they turned themselves from God and turned to worship, asked for us birthday by watching the rising sun.
Alright, back to the book of Matthew and we find here that he talked to them about he would show them a sign. The fact that Christ would rise again from the dead would be the one sign that would demonstrate that He was who He claimed that He was. Verse 41, the men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation until condemn it, because they repented they changed their mind at the preaching of Jonah. And behold, a greater than Jonah is here.
So here Jonah obviously went to Nineveh and the whole city changed their mind, hearing his preaching and here Jesus says a greater than Jonah is standing right here. Jesus was greater than Jonah. The queen of the south shall stand or rise up in judgment with this generation and shall condemn it. For she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon and behold a greater than Solomon is here, a greater than Solomon. So Christ what verse 6 is greater than the temple in verse 41 he’s greater than Jonas and in verse 42 he’s greater than Solomon.
Jesus was of course God. Verse 43 when the unclean spirit is going out of a man he walketh through the dry places seeking rest and findeth none. Then he sayeth I’ll return into my house from whence I came out and when he has come he findeth an empty swept and garnished. Then goeth he and takeeth with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself and They enter in and dwell there, and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
Even so shall it be also into this wicked generation. So here talks about our bodies being like a house. It’s a house to our soul, but also demons can and dwell an unbeliever’s body. And if you just practice exorcism and the casting out of a demon, you haven’t done anybody any favors because a demon can come back and he can come back with more. The Roman Catholic Church seems to be plagued with demons. They just hired, I think, 30, what they call demon busters in Chicago just for that diocese because of all the demon possessions that are occurring in the Catholic Church.
That’s happening around the world because they don’t have the true gospel. These people are plagued with demons within the Catholic Church and the Pope himself has his own demon buster, apparently a real hot shot at casting out demons. But if you only cast them out, then other demons can come right back in. So it isn’t really lasting. You may have heard me tell the story, but I had a young lady a number of years ago that told me that she had demons in her and the demons told her to kill her young baby.
And she had gone to a number of charismatic churches where they They seem to be really into this thing. And if something is happening in your life, you might have the demon of temptation, or you might have the demon of smoking, or you might have the demon of drinking, or you might have the demon of laziness, or you might have the demon of whatever. They seem to look for demons in people. And then they lay hands on you and cast the demons out.
Well, anyway, she had gone to a number of charismatic churches and she said the problem only got worse. And I thought to myself, they probably added some more demons to her collection. more probably came innatureconservancy each time they did that because they don’t have the answer. So anyway, I took the Heaven test back here and I gave it to her and she failed it and I let her to Christ. And I said you should have no more problems because once you get saved the Holy Spirit comes into your body and there’s no demon that wants to be in the same body with the Holy Spirit.
And for years she would check back with me, she never had a problem again, never had any desire to kill her baby again. And the demons were gone. But that’s the secret. So what you need to do is lead someone to Christ. If you ever feel you’re in a situation where someone isn’t dwelt with a demon, you want to lead them to Christ because that is the answer. Then the Holy Spirit comes in, demons flee. They don’t want to be in the same body and they don’t come back.
But if you just cast a demon out, notice verse 33, when the unclean spirit is going out of a man, he walks through the dry place, seeking rest and findeth none. Then he says, I’m going to return back to my house. And when he is coming, he finds it empty, swept and garnished, and then goes with he and takes with himself, seven other spirits more wicked to himself, and they enter in and they dwell there. So a person gets in the worst fix sometimes if exorcism is practiced without leading the person of Christ.
Anyway, I thought we’d share that because you don’t want to seek after people that are demon possessed, but they’re out there. And I believe we have them here in Tampa for sure. 46, while he yet talketh to the people, behold his mother. That’s Mary, and his half-brothers stood without desiring to speak with him. Then one said to Christ, behold, my mother and my brethren stand without desiring to speak with thee. And he answered and said unto them that told him, well, of course, invite the queen of heaven in.
No, they didn’t He said, who is my mother and who are my brethren? He stretched for his hands toward his disciples and said, Behold my mother and my brethren. For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same as my brother and my sister and my mother. I think he must have done that on purpose because he knew what would happen later on in time when Mary today has been raised to the level of Godhood, where Mary can make appearances, Mary can hear prayers, and answer prayers, and do miracles and all kinds of things.
And Mary has no special powers in the Bible. Notice those that were born again were added to his family and became his brothers and sisters and mother. I think it’s a powerful verse, especially when you talk about that. Good cross-reference, right next to verse 50, put John 6.40. John 640 says, this is the Father’s will that you believe on Christ, and if you believe on Christ you’ll have eternal life. So the will of God for salvation is to believe on Christ.
And those are Christ brothers and sisters. We become born into His family. So anyway, Mary was a wonderful woman, but she does not have the powers that the Catholic Church describes to her, and we’re not to pray to her nor worship her and so on, but which is done in the Calvin Church. You’re listening to Bible Eye, a teaching ministry that’s dedicated to delivering the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are many items available from our Resource Center, such as Dr.
Hank Lindstrom’s DVD Teachings on the topics of Simplicity, Belief vs Unbelief, and is inviting Jesus into your heart false? In addition to many others when you call 1-800-576-3771. Now we’re going to take a break from our teaching to listen to Dr. Lindstrom answering questions from callers and then we’ll rejoin today’s teaching. We have Jay in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Jay, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, that’s not one to know. What scripture is it that’s written back up that you shouldn’t call man Reverend Master?
Is there such a scripture? Absolutely. Matthew 23 verse 9 says you’re not to call any man your master or father even you know and on the Catholic Church and in some other the Episcopal thing they call the priest father but the Bible says that is a no-no we’re not to do that. If there are reasons if they’re due to Bible give a reason why we should do that because you know that today everybody. Well unfortunately they are wrong in doing so and I really bristle when people call me that.
Sometimes I go to some place and they’ll introduce me and they just don’t know any better and they’ll say that and I have to live with it. But if you read over in Matthew chapter 23, it says here in verse 9, called, No Man, Your Father upon the earth for one is Your Father which is in heaven. So as far as spiritual things, there’s really only one and that’s God in heaven and we’re not to call anybody else’s father.
Of course our earthly father, our natural parent, but otherwise we’re not to call a religious leader father. It’s quite clear because there’s only one and that’s God the Father in heaven. Okay. Okay. Thank you so much. You’re welcome Jay. Thank you for calling in today and also only God is holy and is worthy of being reverence, so we should not call a minister reverend, because only God is to be reverence according to the scripture. Mary from Richmond, Virginia says, Will all my past sins be brought up on judgment day?
Please give scripture references for your answer. Well 2 Corinthians 5, 10 comes to mind where it says we must all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. And it implies here that everything that you’ve done, since you have been saved, Mary, will be brought up and judged. And of course, this judgment is to determine the degree of reward or loss of reward that you and I will receive when we stand before the Lord. God is going to judge us based upon our deeds what we have done since we have been Now I’m going to turn to the verse so I can quote it correctly for you.
It is 2 Corinthians 5-10 and it says we must all appear. This is believers and Paul includes himself in that we. We must all appear 2 Corinthians 5-10 before the judgment seat of Christ. That’s the judgment of believers for reward that will occur at the event of the rapture. That everyone may receive the things done in his body according to that he hath done, Whether it be good or bad. So I think there you have it. Whether it’s good or whether it’s bad, it’s all going to come up and you’re going to have everything laid out.
And I’ll be judged accordingly and receive a reward or loss of reward based upon your deeds, Mary. Second Corinthians five. Check it out for yourself. We’re going to go now to Fort Lauderdale and we have Anthony on the line and Anthony. Welcome to Bibleline. Hi. Good. I just got a quick question and I’ll hang up. Um, you expect me John three five, which is, which is that if you’re not born of water? and of spirit and you will be super can walk up i sure can not and he’s talking about the flesh birth when you’re up in your mother’s room you’re in a sack of water and you often hear the expression of water sack broke uh…
when your water sack breaks as a woman uh… you’re about ready to have that baby you uh… be you should be hitting the hospital and uh… and certainly uh… the babies going to come along real shortly well that’s what’s in the context if you read the verse before John here records it for us, but Nicodemus misunderstood and he thought about another physical birth when Christ told me he had to be born again. He said, can a man when he’s old go back into his mother’s womb the second time and come out again and be born?
And he was thinking about that natural birth to go back into the womb. So the water birth is connected to the womb. Verse 6 on the other side of verse 5 also demands that interpretation where Christ says that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. So the flesh birth is the water birth and everybody has that including Nicodemus before he comes to Christ. But Christ said marvel not verse 7 that I said unto thee you must be born again.
So he already had the first birth, the water birth, but he hadn’t gotten the second birth which was the spirit birth that occurs when you trust Jesus as your Savior. It’s not talking about water baptism, it’s talking about the flesh, the water, the earth that occurs when you come into this world. That sounds very clear about the things from it. Well good, and I tell you, a lot of people wrestle with that passage, and a lot of churches teach that it’s talking about water baptism, and I wonder, don’t they know the difference between a birth and a baptism?
If your wife was ready to deliver, would you take her to the church or take her to the hospital? I think it’s pretty clear. Thank you Anthony. Thank you very much. I Okay, Anthony down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Have you trusted Christ as your savior? There’s only one way to be saved only one way to go to heaven and that is Jesus himself Jesus said in John 14 6. I am the way I am the truth. I am the life.
No man cometh under the Father, but by me No man, no woman, no child, no one can come to the Father except by Jesus Christ. If you reject Christ by friend, you have no chance because there’s no other way. There’s no other way. Peter said it so clearly in Acts 4, 12. He said, neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven, give it among men whereby we must be saved. Most churches teach works for salvation.
It’s sometimes very subtle, but you have to do something to be saved according to most churches when the Bible says you can do nothing. It’s not of yourself that our best righteous deeds are filthy rags inside of God Isaiah 64, 6. And you have nothing to offer God. I have nothing to offer God. You don’t either. I don’t care who you are. I don’t care where you attend or what you do. You don’t have a thing to offer God.
The Bible says your best, righteous deeds are filthy rags in the sight of God. You have to come just as you are. You have to simply recognize your need that you’re lost and headed for hell and you need a savior. And Jesus Christ is that one. And when you come to him by faith trusting that he made the full payment for your sin was buried and rose again from the dead God saved you. the most important decision you’ll ever make in your life.
I hope you’ve made that decision to trust Christ’s Savior. You can do it right now. You can whisper a prayer. You could say something like as follows. I got on the center. Admit it, we all are. But right now, what I just heard made a lot of sense. And I trust Jesus Christ right now as the one who died and paid for my sins, in full on the cross by his death and shed blood was buried and rose again from the dead.
And I trust Jesus Christ right now to save me, to give me the gift of eternal life. And the moment you do that, con saves you. Rich in Sarasota calls in, this is Catholicism, ask Protestants that Protestants owe it to themselves to consider Catholic development of doctrine. What do they mean by this term? Well obviously they’re trying to explain away the fact that the doctors change all the time. You know about 40 years ago, if you ate meat on Friday, that was a mortal sin sin and you’d go to hell.
Now they’ve changed the doctrine and it’s no longer a mortal sin. So don’t you feel sorry for those that lived prior to their changing of the rule? Those people went to hell for eating meat on Friday. Today if you eat meat on Friday you won’t go to hell. Also they just recently, the Pope just recently got rid of limbo, a place supposedly where children infants would go. No such thing in the Bible, but the Catholic Church taught it for years, but now what happens to all those kids who went to limbo according to their doctrine?
Where are they? I guess they’re left in limbo. I mean craziness. Constantly, the Catholic Church is a communion church and changes. And it changes, by the way, also from country to country. It’s not the same in every country that you visit. Roman Catholicism adapts itself to the beliefs and the wishes of the people i know missionaries tell me that down in south american central america they actually offer chickens and live sacrifices in the church the catholic church allows that as long as they’re faithful to the church in the mary it doesn’t seem to matter we’re going to herald and temple for the herald welcome to my blind you’re on the air yes hello uh…
and how are you today wonderful thank you go or good uh… please i appreciate your help i need some clarification please on the rewards and and if you could please let me go back to the beginning jesus wanted us to as many as possible the the great commission is to spread the good news and win souls to cut and i i believe that means uh… winning them to eternal salvation and escaping uh… hell i agree yes sir thank you well as we are evangelizing in and out there winning souls to christ i guess that’s the number one goal is to is to share the good news and tell them that is the goal yet then we we are now uh…
i’m a little confused about the idea of rewards well there are there are a lot of different things we can do one of them is for evangelism. There is the crown of rejoicing in 1 Thessalonians 2, 19, and 20 that is for leading a soul to Christ. You’ll get a crown for that called the crown of rejoicing. But there’s also the martyr or the sufferers crown, James 1, 12, and Revelation 2, 10. If you suffer for Christ or are martyred for Christ, you’ll get the crown of life, which refers to the ones who are suffering for Christ.
And if you are faithful in teaching the Word of God, 1 Peter, chapter 5 verse 4 talks about a crown of glory to those who teach the Word of God, those who keep their bodies disciplined and are focused on living for Christ, will get the crown uncoruptible 1 Corinthians 9, 27. And then there’s a crown for watching for Christ’s return. Psychotibity 4-8 says the crown of righteousness is given to those who love his appearing and watch for Christ’s return.
So there’s a bunch of good rewards there. I’ve got to go break and we’ll finish up this discussion after the break. It’s almost time for our break, so we’ll have to pause right here and complete our time with this caller when we return. If you’d like to hear today’s program again, then please visit our website at BibleLineMinistries.org. there, you’ll be able to replay today’s program on our audio archives, as well as access other resources, including a Bible search tool and flashcards, in addition to many other resources in our online store.
Remember, we’ll hear the conclusion of this call as part of our next question and answer segment right after the break, and then we’ll hear more Bible teaching from Dr. Hank Lynch from. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. You know, Jesus Christ is in the Old Testament. Wherever you look, you’ll find him there. In fact, Jesus himself spoke about how he was in the writings of Moses and other parts of the Old Testament.
Fascinating. But yet, I was never told that when I was a child being raised up in church. And nor was I ever encouraged to read the Old Testament to see these wonderful truths that are there in God’s Word. But let me read a quote here from Jesus Christ. And he says, in John 5 verse 45, do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one that accuses you even Moses in whom you trust. Verse 46, you ought to get this one to write it down, John 546, for had you believed Moses, you would have believed me, for he wrote of me.
Well Moses is the human writer of the first five books of the Bible, Genesis, Exodus, but against numbers did run on me. And here Jesus says Moses wrote about me. And yet they prided themselves that Jewish audience of Christ was speaking to, prided themselves in reading Moses. And yet he said, you’ve missed it, hey. And there’s one that will accuse you one day, and that’s Moses. If you had believed Moses, you would have believed me for he wrote about me.
Wow. And the next verse, verse 47 of John 5 says, If you believe not his writings, how shall you believe my words? Clearly Christ is in the Old Testament. You know one of the stories that is one I’ve always loved and is fascinating is the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. We have Jesus in Daniel chapter 3 and we have Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego cast into the burning fiery furnace. You might remember that. Nebuchadnezzar the king, we know, was astonished as he looked into the flames and he said, I see four men loose walking in the midst of the fire.
And they have no hurt. And the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Did you realize that Jesus was in the burning fiery furnace with Chad Rekmezak at Abednego? they came out, unsinged, not the least bit of the smell of smoke on their flesh, and their clothing and everything was intact, nothing was burned. It’s a picture really of Christians will never endure the flames of hell fire. Hell is real, hell is forever. And those that are lost will be cast into an everlasting lake of fire.
One of the things that is a mark of a cult is the denial of hell, and the Joe’s witnesses deny the fact that there’s a hell. The Seventh Adventist denied that there is a hell. The Christian scientists deny that there is a hell. And on and on we could go, this is something that all of those that are cults deny. It all goes back to the garden where Satan himself denied the penalty for sin when he told Eve that if she ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of the navel, he said, you shall not surely die.
God said you’ll die. And Satan says no you won’t die. And Satan always tells the lie that there is no hell. There is no penalty for dying without Christ. But there is. And here these three young believers, Chad Rachmieschek and Abednego were cast into the burning fiery furnace. It was so hot. The king was so angry that he had it. He did seven times hotter than it was designed to be heated, and even the men that cast these three men into the burning fire of furnace died because of the great heat as they brought them close to the fire and threw them in.
Then we read this incredible story here. This is the testimony of Nebuchadnezzar the king himself, and he says, Lo, I see. He says that verse 24, did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? The answered and said, King, that’s true. King we cast three into the fire and he answered in verse 25 of Daniel chapter 3 he said, low I see four men loose walking in the midst of the fire and they have no hurt and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God Jesus was there in that burning fire furnace you know the Bible tells us in Revelation chapter 20 that those that are saved will have no hurt of what is called the second death, which is to be cast into the eternal hell, which is exactly what this is a picture of back here in
Daniel chapter 3. Let me quote to you from Revelation chapter 20, and here it talks about blessed. That means happy. And it says here, and holy, holy means your righteous. Anyway, we are going to go back into the second half hour Bibleline. So here we go. We’re going to do Bibleline in the second half hour right now.
Would you like to help Bibleline continue in your area? You can! Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. And now back to Bibleline. Welcome back from the break. We hope that you’re learning with us as you listen to Bibleline and hear real-life quen- questions with scriptural answers from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Please make plans to join us and open your Bible as we also present in-depth studies covering a variety of biblical topics. Now, let’s finish with our last caller in this question and answer segment.
Then you’ll hear more Bible teaching from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We were just talking with Harold a moment ago about rewards and there are at least five I have five crowns. Harold, if you want to call back and ask for my article I’ve written, Getting Your Crown. I list the five crowns and describe them and give you the passages of scripture. But you can also sit on my website. If you go to BibleLineMinistries.org, on the right hand bottom corner it says Dr.
Lensford’s articles go there and then go on the search engine, Getting Your Crowns, or just put the word crown in. and you’ll come up with that article and you can read it on your computer or print it out and you’ll have it instantly. So give that a try. We now have Paul in Seminole, Florida and Paul, welcome to Bibleline you’re on there. Yes, I have a question. I’m first colloshing 114 in whom he had attempted through his blood that begins with sin.
In the notes that here the blood is emitted in the the Lake de Gries, the tax of the 26th edition of Nestle Island Gries. Now is that a good tax? Or what, is that, that, that, that, uh, New Testament Greek? No, I think the blood has to be there. You know, it’s amazing. These new translations are trying to get rid of the blood and they’re trying to sanitize the Bible and get rid of the blood. And even the new hymnals that are being published by different music publishers are getting rid of the hymns about the blood.
And it’s an attack on the Bible from Satan. I believe it belongs there, should be there. And clearly the Bible is a book of the blood you begin with, the book of Genesis, you have Abel bringing a lamb. The blood is there in that picture and it begins there and it goes all the way to the book of Revelation and winds up with Christ being the one who washed us from our sins in his own blood. Certainly, I think this is a satanic attack.
Thank you, Paul, for that question. We’re now going to go to Clarabel in Miramar, Florida, that’s South Florida, and Clarabel, welcome to Bible Day. Hi there. You’re on the air. Hi, Pastor. I just had a question. I just wanted to know if speaking in tongues was the only evidence showing that you have the whole spirit? Well guess what? The speaking in tongues doesn’t occur anymore. What people are doing today is not tongues. The word tongue means language and the other word used in Acts chapter 2 is dialectos meaning a specific dialect of a specific language.
The gibberish that people What we’re doing today that is claiming, they’re claiming to be tongues is exactly that. It’s a gibberish, not a known language, and is done by all the world religions. So it’s not unique to Christianity. Why does God give it to the Buddhist? Why does he give it to Islam? Why does he give it to the Mormons, the cults? They all do the same gibberish and it’s not Christian at all. But the real evidences of the Holy Spirit in your life are seen in Ephesians 5.
talks there about you loving one another, submitting yourself to those that are an authority above you, that you would love your children, that you would sing melodies to the Lord in your heart. These are all evidences of the Holy Spirit being in you and controlling you. So I would look to Ephesians 5, the tongues was only a very temporary gift and has ceased. what people are doing today is not a biblical experience. They might enjoy it, they might be a lot of people doing it, but you can’t show me in the Bible that what they’re doing is the biblical gift of tongues, which was a known language that would be easily understood by the hearer and would be used to win the loss to Christ.
It says the 1 Corinthians 14 9, except you speak by the tongue, where it’s easy to be understood, how shall be known what is spoken? You’re just speaking to the air, you’re just wasting your breath. Verse 22 says, tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to those who believe not. So it should be used with the laws. So if you have it, you ought to go out into the mall and start talking to people and you’ll have revival.
But I’m afraid nobody wants to take the gibberish into the mall because people think you’re crazy and they’ll want to lock you up. So the genuine gift is gone. Amen. So I also have just another question. So I’m going to say the first time you go to church and you feel like you have like the presence of God in you, Is that the moment that God enters your body and when you truly accept them with your heart or is it just because you get baptized and you say that you speak in time?
Well the answer is when you use the word feeling you’re getting yourself in trouble. The word feel is used five times in the New Testament always in a negative way. God does not want us to rely upon our feelings at all and we have something far better. have his word. And the key is when you TRUST the Christ died for you and shed his blood that he is the only means of your salvation, God saves you and you can know that you are saved not by a feeling but because God said it.
And if he said it and you believe it, that settles it. You don’t need a feeling. If I went by my feeling some days I might feel saved, other days I might not feel saved, I might feel sick. And I will say, oh my I guess I feel terrible, I guess I’m lost. You don’t go by your feelings. You go by the Word of God, which will never change. The Word of God, the Bible says, liveth and abighteth forever.
So every day you can get up no matter how bad you feel or how good you feel, you can know you’re saved because God said so if you’ve trusted Christ as your savior. And if you’re looking for signs and wonders and gifts and miracles, you’re heading in the wrong direction because we’re really to believe his word. That’s where our assurance comes from. I’d like to give you 1 John 513. I hope you write it down. 1 John 513 says, these things have I written, written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may know K-N-O-W, not hope for guests or perhaps or maybe, but you may know that you have H-A-V-E, a present tense verb you could know you have eternal life.
So I hope that you will check that out. First John 513. 513. Okay. Thank you so much. You’re welcome, Clairbel. And looking for feeling is going the wrong direction. God never tells us in the Bible anywhere to look for a feeling. We’re to listen to what He says in His Word and believe it. And then we can know and be assured that God is going to be telling us the truth and will not lie about it or trick us.
or trick us. We’re going to go to Helen in Dunedin, Florida. Helen, welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. Hi. I would like to know about the goat. Did, in the Old Testament, did, I know they sacrificed them, but did they eat the goat also? And when did they do away with that? Well, I don’t think they did it away with it until the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed up until that time, they followed all the Old Testament laws and rules and they offered up the lamb and also the goat.
And yes, I believe they, when they roasted them on the fire there, then they also ate of the fish so they didn’t throw it away. But they continued right up until 1870. Once the temple was destroyed, then there were no more sacrifices offered by Israel. And for the Jewish person, that’s a serious problem because according to Leviticus 111, the Bible says it’s the blood that makes an atonement for the soul. But the answer, of course, is that Jesus, God’s lamb, has come, and he shed his blood, and he is the satisfying sacrifice.
So what a person puts their trust in the blood of Jesus, God saves them. And ofoenix, that’s why the blood is so important in the Bible and why a previous caller talked about Colossians 114 and is wondering why some of these translations are getting rid of the blood. It’s a direct attack, I believe, by Satan on the word of God to get rid of that blood from the Bible. Hope that helps. Thank you. You’re very welcome. Thank you for calling in.
We now have Deanna in Dover, Florida. Deanna, welcome to the Bible and program. The question is about cremation. he gave me any scriptures that would be against it because I was speaking to another lady and she said he doesn’t feel if you’re a Christian you should be cremated and I wouldn’t want to do anything to send the Lord you know what I mean. Absolutely. We talked about it, but I don’t want to do it if the Bible begins to sit.
I would appreciate his opinion on that. Okay. And, Diana, the answer is it doesn’t make a difference at all as far as your salvation. There was a time when those who were cremated were making a statement they didn’t believe in life after death. But I don’t think that’s true today. I think most people because of the tremendous cost of having a traditional funeral, They are opting to go to cremation. But there are people in the Bible that have been cremated, and yet they are still saved.
Obviously, you have Saul, and his sons were all cremated. If you read in there of Samuel, and yet we know Saul went to heaven, and his sons went to heaven, because the prophet Samuel tells us that they were going to join him they died the next day in battle against the Philistines. So definitely it doesn’t really make a difference. But I prefer myself to be buried. The Jews always buried as a testimonial of the fact that they believed in the resurrection.
And so they were making a plain statement by being buried that they believed in the day when they would be resurrected from the dead. Joseph, in fact down in Egypt, asked his family to swear that when God delivered them out of Egypt and brought them back to the Promised Land that they would carry his bones with him. And they carried the bones of Joseph back to Israel. And I’ve been to the burial place of where Joseph’s bones are buried up near Shechem where Jacob’s well is.
Jacob was his father. And so they buried his bones back in Israel. And the Jewish person always is what is interesting and if you’ve maybe we’re not aware of this, but in a Jewish funeral many times they’ll put a little pillow under the head of the deceased that has soil from Israel so that they can say they’re really being buried on Israeli soil and kind of neat. But if you’re a believer you’re going to be resurrected whether you’ve been cremated or not, I hope that has helped you with this question.
That concludes today’s question and answer segment. There’s no other topic that is more important to us than the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and it was Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s mission to spread the Gospel. Through your support for Bibleline, you too can help to spread the Gospel of Christ throughout the world and to reach others with the message of salvation through Jesus. at our website at BibleLineMinistries.org for copies of any of our resources such as Dr. Lynchtram’s audio CDs on the books of Jude or Acts, plus many others.
Now join us as we return to today’s teaching series. So anyway, Mary was a wonderful woman that she does not have the powers that the Catholic Church describes to her. And I were not to pray to her nor worship her,” and so on, which is done in the Catholic Church. Chapter 13, the same day when Jesus out of the house and sat by the seaside in great multitudes which were gathered together unto him so that he went into a ship and sat and the whole multitude stood on the shore and he spaked many things under them in parables.
An interesting observation that I made and I haven’t found an exception if you find one, Let me know. But it appears whenever Jesus spoke, he sat and his audience stood. Look at this. He sat by the seaside and then the multitudes grew and so he went out in a ship and sat and the whole multitude stood on the shore. I’d like to adopt that here at Calvary. I think I’ll get a real comfortable chair. Get rid of the pews and just everybody stand while I sit.
I don’t think you can go over well though because people today wouldn’t tolerate that. I don’t know a verse anywhere where Jesus stood in the audience sat. It appears everywhere I look that Jesus sat in the audience stood. If you can find an exception, I’d like to see it. I’ve been looking, but I’ve never found it yet. And I used the concordance and tried to look for it and couldn’t find it. So it’s a little bit different picture in our minds, isn’t it, from what we’re used to today.
We all sit in the preacher’s stands, but here Jesus sat in the audience stood. to change it if I could. Well, it sounds comfy. I can enjoy that. That’s a cup of gold water next to me in a nice chair and everybody stands while I talk. All right, I have to stand the whole time. Man, you’re sitting out here. Verse 3, you speak unto them in parables about parables. Christ, you know, most people think when Christ spoke in parables, he gave a story to make something clear.
The opposite is true. Parables were spoken to concealed truth. And therefore parables need to be approached carefully because if they were meant to conceal truth, then you can get messed up with a parable. And most of the churches that have false doctrine preach a lot from the parables because they can make them say whatever they want them to say. If things aren’t defined correctly, you’re going to come out with wrong answers. And if you want to see a real circus, take several commentaries and just read what they say about any particular parable.
you probably with six commentaries get six different ideas because boy they really mess with the parables. I want you to go to Mark and we’ll come back we’ll see the same thing here but it’s more clear in Mark chapter 4 a little bit to your right Mark 4. Mark it down most people get this wrong most preachers get this wrong. If you want to see a preacher get an answer wrong ask him why I Christ spoke in parables. They almost always get it wrong I’m just surprised.
Mark 4, 11. Jesus says unto you it is given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God, page 10, 49 verse 11. But unto them that are without that as those that are unsaved, all these things are done in what? Parables that seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand less that any time they should be converted than their sins should be forgiven them. Shocking isn’t it? So Christ spoke in parables so that seeing they would not perceive, hearing they would not understand less than any time they should be converted in their sins to be forgiven them.
And I’ve heard preachers on the radio say that Christ spoke in this parable to make this illustration a story clear, blah blah blah not true. Amazing. And they seem to put their own personal spin on what they think it really is all about. But Jesus himself said he spoke in parables to conceal the truth. So he spoke in parables. And so we’ll talk about the first parable, then he’ll do what we just said. He’ll tell us how that he spoke in parables to conceal the truth.
So the first one is behold a sower went forth to sow. Verse four, when he sowed some seeds, some seeds fell by the wayside and the fowls came and devoured them up. Some fell among stony places where they had not much earth and for with a sprung up because they had no deepness of earth. When the sun was come up they were scorched and because they had no root they withered away. For seven some fell among thorns and the thorns sprung up and choked them.
Others fell into good ground and brought forth fruit some a hundred fold some sixty fold and some thirty fold. Who have ears to hear let him hear. Now here we have the same question asked in Mark that disciples came and said to him why do you speak to them in parables? He said unto them because it’s given to you to know the mysteries of of the kingdom of heaven, but to them that it is not given. For whomsoever half to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance, but whosoever half not from him shall be taken away, even that he hath.
Therefore speak unto them in parables, because that seeing they see not, hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which said, by hearing you shall hear and shall not understand, seeing you shall see and not perceive. For this people’s heart is grown gross. Their ears are dull of hearing and their eyes they have closed. Less than any time they should see with their eyes, hear with their ears, should understand with their heart and should be converted and I should heal them.
But blessed are your eyes for they see and your ears for they hear for verily I say unto you that many prophets and righteousness have desired to see those things which you see and have not seen them and to hear those things which you hear and have not heard them. Now hear you therefore the parable of the sower. So now Christ is going to interpret this first parable and he interprets a couple of them which are very helpful because he defines terms that will help us in dealing with other parables.
Verse 19, when anyone hears the word of the kingdom, here is the key phrase and understand that what? Not. So here when they don’t understand the message, then come if the wicked one that Satan catches the way that which is sown in his heart, this is he which receives seed by the wayside. So that’s an unbeliever. He hears the message, doesn’t understand the message. Satan takes away whatever he hears and in the story the guy doesn’t get saved. Verse 20, he either receives seed into stony places, the same as he that hears the word And at once with joy receiveth it, yet he hath he not rooted himself, but doth for a while.
But when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, buy and buy, he’s offended. These are believers, but they don’t go very far. And I think a lot of Christians fall into this category. They get saved and then they just kind of disappear. They just kind of drive off into the distance and where did they go? What happened to them? I thought they got saved. Well, maybe they did. . . . . . . . . . A little bit of tribulation or trial or persecution because of the word and they’re offended and by by it.
Verse 22, he also received seed among the thorns, is he that he art the word in the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches. What? Choke the word and he becomeeth unfruitful. So this is another believer, but this person, just because of the busyness of their life, they don’t grow. They don’t produce any fruit. The cares of this world that’s not necessarily anything evil But my goodness you can really get busy with cares of this world can’t you?
Sometimes pets will occupy a lot of your time. I thought at one point goldfish would be easy that required an awful lot of work Man, they’re the dirtiest fish in the world. I was always cleaning their fish tank and I finally got rid of them When the last one died that was in to that tank it was gone and I held out to the last one died But that was it. I thought a parakeet would be nice. Then they can dirty a whole house from one little cage Terrible the more things you own the more things you have to care for my goodness.
It takes time doesn’t You have a car you have to take it into get a service And they don’t do that in a few minutes They just take forever Then they find something else that needs to be fixed and everything takes time and your days get eaten up by just cares So here it talks about people that the cares of this life just choke out any time for God’s word in our life. They’re just busy with all kinds of things.
Everything but the word. So they don’t produce any fruit. But he then received a seed into good ground as he did. Here at the word and here’s a key word. What? Understands it. And he also brings forth fruit, some 100 fold, some 60 and some 30. So here’s where you have to be gooddeen. In other words, you have to desire the word, suck it in, just like you would be good soul for seed to grow it. And take it in and then produce fruit.
I believe the fruit is our reproducing ourselves. And there are three different categories here, 34 to 60 fold and 100 fold Christian. And I think every one of us can be any one of those really. Be sure to tune in to another edition of Bibleline from Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida. Let me quote to you from Revelation chapter 20 and here it talks about blessed. That means happy and it says here and Holy holy means your righteous and guess what every believer is considered righteous because they’ve trusted in Christ and God’s righteousness is credited to their account and it says in Revelation 20 verse 6 blessed happy and holy or righteous is He that have part in the first resurrection resurrection.
That’s the resurrection of the saved by the way. And then look at what it says here in Revelation 20 verse 6 on such the second death hath no power. Just like the flames in the burning fiery furnace had no power and brought no hurt upon Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The believer is happy and he’s righteous because of God’s righteousness imputed to his account based on the substitutionary death of Christ that Jesus took our place, took our sin-death and paid for it in its entirety by his death and shed blood, that they will never be hurt of what is called the second death.
The second death hath no power over them and it says in verse 14 of this chapter that death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. To be cast into the everlasting lake of fire. You know I’m not happy about the fact There’s a hell, but I don’t set the rules. I didn’t write the Bible. I didn’t make this up I’m just reporting and proclaiming what the Bible teaches the Bible teaches there is a hell Did you know that Jesus spoke more about hell than he did about heaven and the Old Testament and New Testament both Certainly teach a place of eternal torment a place of eternal separation from God Some will be in contempt of God forever and ever and ever and others will experience everlasting life living in the presence of God forever and ever and ever.
You don’t want to die not having trusted Christ as your Savior because there is no other Savior. There is no other way to heaven. Christ is the only way and He said it in John 14-6, I am the way, the truth and the life. And no man, no man, no man comeeth unto the Father but by me. Amazingly a lot of people feel like salvation is in their church or in their works or in their deeds. Jesus didn’t say your church is the way.
He didn’t say that your Christian life is the way. He didn’t say that your righteous deeds and your good works are the way. Jesus said I am the way. In other words, Jesus himself is the Savior. And unless you trust him, you’re not going to make it. He says, no man comeeth unto the Father except by me. No man. That means nobody. Nobody’s going to get in unless they trust Christ as a Savior. Earlier in John, Jesus talks to unbelievers and says, where I go, you cannot come.
He’s talking about going back to heaven. And he says, when I go back to heaven, you can’t come. Why? He says, because you don’t believe. Unless you believe or trust on Christ as your Savior, you cannot come. Jesus many times invited the lost and said, Come unto Me, and I will give you rest. Jesus is God who came and took on human flesh, and He offers eternal life. The forgiveness is sin. He offers a home in heaven. He offers almost everything you’d ever dream of, as He will take care of your needs forever forever if you only would come and trust Him as your Savior.
Have you done that? If you haven’t my friend, you’re lost. If you haven’t my friend, you can’t go where Jesus is today. My friend, if you haven’t trusted Christ, you’re going to wind up in hell. And the fires of that burning fiery furnace, the picture that we read about in Daniel will hurt you. You’ll be in torment. The Bible says he’ll be weeping and gnashing of teeth day and night forever and ever and ever for those that are lost.
You don’t want to risk that. You don’t want to have that happen to you. And you don’t have to because God so loved the world. He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting love. I’m Dr. Inglinton. This is Bibleline. Keep looking up.
