Water baptism is a testimonial of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Water baptism has never been, nor will it ever be a means of securing the remission of sins.

This third Sunday, we’re also having a baptism. It’ll be at 3 in the afternoon. We baptized by immersion. be doing it in a beautiful lake setting just north a few miles from Calvary Community Church and if you’ve never been baptized or if you were baptized before your salvation experience or infant baptized then you need to be water baptized as a believer to give testimony to the fact that you’ve been cleansed of your sin by the blood of Christ.
No such thing in the Bible as infant baptism, you can’t find it. It is certainly not scriptural at all and look at how many churches practice infant baptism and then also if you’re baptized prior to your salvation experience that doesn’t count. What were you giving testimony to? You weren’t even saved. Obviously water baptism is a testimonial after you become saved of the fact that you’ve been cleansed of your sin by the blood of Christ. Nothing but the blood could wash away your sin.
Revelation 1-5 says unto him that is Jesus Christ that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood. Jesus is the one who cleanses us by the cleansing in his blood. His blood at Calvary was sufficient to wash away every sin that you would ever commit in your entire life past, present, and future. Boy, that is great news and of course that’s what the gospel is all about. So the third Sunday, remember that, if you don’t live in the Tampa Bay area, you’re certainly welcome to come by when you come into Tampa, Florida on vacation or business or pleasure and we’re right next to the airport.
So we’re easy to find. If you can find Tampa’s International Airport, you’ll find us on the west side, just a block away from the airport. We are just on the west side. So go to the Internet site that we have and you’ll find a place there. You can type in your address. Ours is already there. We might be ready here this weekend or the next and then you’ll be able to watch it not only at the time when it’s live but it’ll go into archive and you’ll be able to watch the Sunday messages delivered from Calvary community church here in Tampa, Florida. We’re going to talk about the Bible for a few minutes and then we’re going to be going to the live callers and off-air questions we have.
And you can dial us at 1-800-576-3771. That is 1-800-576-3771. We’re going to turn to the book of Acts. One of my favorite verses is Acts 1043. Peter is preaching. And here he preaches at the house of Cornelius, a Roman soldier who was seeking the truth, and God saw that Peter and Cornelius got connected. And when Peter came, he tells those in the house there that day. In verse 43, talking about Jesus, Peter says to him, that is Jesus, or you shoe up from the Hebrew, give all the prophets witness that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
What I love about this verse is that Peter tells us that every prophet that is the writers of the Old Testament from Genesis to Malachi all wrote about and talked about Jesus Christ and that the plan of salvation for everyone in the Old Testament was that they needed to trust in Jesus Christ. Notice he says here to Jesus or Yeshua, give all the prophets, that’s all the writers of the Old Testament scriptures, witness that through his name, that is the name of Yeshua, which by the way occurs over 130 times in the Old Testament.
Some people say, is Jesus in the Old Testament? You better believe it. His name, Yeshua, is over 130 times in the Old Testament, and in English, Yeshua is Jesus. So Jesus is clearly there. And the Bible says that Peter tells us that through his name, Yeshua or Jesus, whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. Nobody has ever been saved by works. has ever been saved by keeping the commandments. Nobody has ever been saved by offering up an animal sacrifice.
Nobody has ever been saved by anything of their selves. It is always God’s wonderful gift purchased by Christ’s death and shed blood at the cross of Calvary and the fact that he was buried and then rose again from the dead and is alive forevermore to make good on the promises that he made that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Write this verse down. This is one of those great verses that I call a refrigerator verse.
What does that mean? This is one you write it on the refrigerator. Of course I’m teasing you. Probably going to put it on a piece of paper with a magnet on your refrigerator. But if you get really excited, go ahead and just write it right on the refrigerator if you want. But it’s a great verse, Acts 10.43, to him, that is to Yeshua or Jesus, give all the prophets that’s all the entire Old Testament. All the prophets were the writers of the Old Testament.
And it says all the prophets give witness to Jesus or Yeshua that through His name, the name of Jesus or Yeshua, whosoever believeth in Him. shall receive the remission of their sins.” Wow! Isn’t that great? So if you ever were curious about how were people in the Old Testament saved, they were saved the same way we are. By faith alone in Jesus alone, there is no other way to be saved. There’s no other way. Christ is the way the truth to life, and no man can come to the Father but by Christ.
We quoted yesterday, I believe 1 John, chapter 2 verse 23, whosoever denies the Son, hath not equivalent. Mm. T. S. S. S. S. S. S. the Father. S. So if you deny Jesus, you don’t have the Father. And obviously you’re not going to make heaven. S. You’ll find in 1 John 5, 12, it says, he that has the Son, has life, and he that has not S.
S. the Son of God, has not life. S. S. The whole world is divided into two groups based upon whether or not you have trusted S. S. Christ as your Savior. Second John, verse 9 says, Whosoever transgresseth and that’s all of us, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ. Have not God. You don’t even have God. So if you deny the Son, you don’t have the Father. If you do not abide in the doctrine of Christ, you don’t even have God.
You cannot go to heaven, you cannot be saved apart from Jesus’ death and shed blood. And Peter tells us that everybody in the Old Testament was offered that opportunity. But all the prophets spoke about Jesus, that Jesus is there in the Old Testament, and all throughout the Old Testament it taught salvation by faith alone, apart from works that through his name, whosoever believeth in him shall receive the remission of their sins. Wow. I’m so glad I heard this message.
I was 18, I trusted Christ as my Savior, I had been raised in church, I had never heard it in my church, I was confirmed, I was baptized, I was homogenized, pasteurized, capsized, you name it, I went through all the processes that my church had to offer and yet I was not saved. I never knew that it was a free gift to go to heaven, that Jesus paid it all all I need to do is receive that gift from God’s hand by trusting in the death and shed blood of Christ as the only means of my salvation.
I’m Dr. Inklynster. We’re going to go to the phone lines. If you’d like to dial us up, the phone number is 1-800-576-3771. And we would love to hear from you. We have off here Nicole in St. Petersburg, Florida. She says her husband lost his mother and you say he can get a message to her through Jesus. Will she know it came from him? The answer is yes. We cannot pray to the dead. In fact, it is forbidden to pray to the dead.
The Bible says in 1 Timothy 2, 5, there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. So there is only one way to reach or get a message to God. And if you go to God to Father through Jesus Christ, His Son, you can deliver a message, I believe, to a loved one in heaven. But it cannot work the other way. Some people prayed to Mary. Guess what? Mary cannot hear your prayers. Not only that, you are in violation of Scripture, who are forbidden to pray to the dead.
Anybody who prays to Mary is a dead in the street. not only cannot hear your prayers, she can’t answer them. But you know, if you wanted to get a message to Mary, I believe you could tell Jesus that you would like to say something to Mary. Maybe you’d like to say that you read about her in the Bible and that you admire her faith and her faithfulness and her believing the promises of God and so on and so on, whatever you might want to say.
I believe Jesus would deliver that message to Mary. But you cannot deliver a message to Mary and get a message to Jesus because she can’t hear your prayers. None of the dead can hear your prayers, but we can get a message through Christ to them. Thank you, Nicole, for calling in. I hope that will help. We have a question here about Galatians 5, 4, falling from grace. Well, it’s interesting that you cannot fall from salvation, but you can fall from grace.
2.11 says, The grace of God that bringeth salvation have appeared to all men. So we learned something fascinating there in Titus 2.11. That the grace of God that bringeth salvation have appeared to all men. The water pipe brings water into your home. The water is not the water pipe. The water pipe brings the water into your home. When you want water in your home, you turn the spigot and the water pipe brings the water. Well, grace brings salvation. It’s like the water pipe.
It’s the conduit through which we receive salvation. And so grace brings salvation. But the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. None of them have been offered salvation. Everybody has been offered grace. But you have to open the spigot, that’s faith. When you trust Jesus Christ as the one who died for you, the spigot is opened. And God’s grace comes and you are saved by grace through faith. The Bible says in Ephesians 2, 8, that salvation is not of yourself.
It is the gift of God. It is not of works lest any man should boast.” So when the Bible talks about falling from grace, it’s not talking about falling from salvation that’s impossible. Once you get saved, you’re stuck. You have to go to heaven, whether you like it or not. All right. Othear Joyce in Charlottesville, New York calls in and she says, in 2 Samuel David was with Bathsheba and the child died because of his sin. Why? chastisement upon both of them and they lost that baby.
And obviously that was a very sorrowful event for them both to lose that child. But after that they had other children. Solomon was born of David through Bathsheba and Nathan. But we find that that first child, which we don’t have a name for, died at seven days old. interesting is that David said the baby would not return to him, but that he would go to be with that baby. We know infants when they die before the age of accountability goes straight to heaven.
That second Samuel 1223, if you want to write it down, what a burst of comfort it is for all those who have lost an infant. It says there, David says, my child will not return to me, but I will go to be with my baby. David went to heaven in the twenty-third Psalm. David said, the Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He trusted in the good shepherd that gave his life for the sheep. And we find in verse 6 he says, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.
And I will, I will, I will not hope, but I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. We are going toovych in Lakeland, Florida and Johnny. Welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Johnny are you there? Hello Johnny. Well apparently Johnny is not there and so we’ll try to get that one back up. We have Jonathan in Quentin, Virginia and Jonathan are you there? And I’m not hearing him either. So we might be having a phone line problem here.
We’ll have to see what our operators can do. Please try to call back Johnny and Jonathan. we would love to hear from you. Something is happening here that I cannot explain. But obviously Satan is the prince of the power of the air. And as we try to go out over the airwaves, we’re traveling through his airwaves. And so I’m sure the devil doesn’t like what’s happening here with Bible-eyed and proclaiming loud and clear God’s word. We have author D in Richmond, Virginia calls in with an author question.
She says she was told that Christ was the lost prophet. He was not a priest. Please explain or elaborate. Well Christ was a prophet and a priest and a king. Guess what? He has a three-fold ministry. He will come as king to Israel. He was rejected as Israel’s king. You might remember that Pilate inscribed Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews above the head of Christ when he was crucified. That was of course the crime for which he was killed.
And he is also, Hebrews tells us, are high priest. And when we have a problem, we can go to him and he understands what we’re experiencing. He says he was tempted in all things like as we, but yet he was without sin. And he is also a prophet. You know Moses in Deuteronomy chapter 18 talks about a prophet of the Jewish people that would arise like into Moses a deliverer. And Jesus is that Prophet. So he’s prophet, priest, and king.
I hope that helps be up there in Richmond, Virginia. We have Johnny. He’s back. And let’s see if we can get Johnny up on the air now from Lincoln, Florida. Johnny, you’re on the air. Yeah. Can you hear me now? I do. I hear you know. Okay. My question for you and I’ll hang up and listen. There’s a passage in Hebrew. It’s not the famous, you know, chapter six, but in chapter 10, that’s really affecting me for a foul we willfully after we’ve come to the knowledge of the truth there is no more repentance for you versus the first of the day that it doesn’t have no more repentance it says there’s no more sacrifice what it’s saying is that even if we still sin will flee uh…
we don’t need another sacrifice if you read verse seventeen eighteen the one-time sacrifice of christ paid for all of our sins such their sins and iniquities, well I remember no more and it says in verse 18 now where remission of these is there is no more offering for sin. Well I’ve taken that phrase no more offering for sin and put it with a line down and circled no more sacrifice in verse 26 and what it’s saying is that even if we sin willfully after we’re saved we don’t need another offering, we’re saved forever.
But then it goes on to speak about how God will chase and discipline us and how that The Lord will judge HIS people, verse 31, it says it’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. So you won’t get away with willful sin, but you don’t need another sacrifice. You’re saved forever by the one-time sacrifice of Christ. But if you tell what Christ did for you as not worth very much and you just go ahead and willfully sin against the Lord, God is going to definitely discipline you and you’ll also suffer the loss of reward.
That whole chapter deals with earning rewards and losing rewards by not living for Him. And how even in verse 39, if you backslide or draw back, we are not of them which draw back into predition or hell, but of them that believe to the saving or the deliverance of the soul. And though we are eternally saved, once we trust Christ is our Savior. Johnny, I hope that helps. And somehow we lost Johnny there. But I hope that explained that for him.
We now have Jonathan in Quentin, Virginia. And Jonathan, welcome to Bible Anne. Oh, yeah. Dr. Hank, I just had a question about Hebrews 17. Okay. And it’s about, you know, obey them, they rule over you. And so much as they’re, I wanted actually is, that’s what’s been dealing with me about seeking His faith for myself and it seems that if some of the pastors now, almost like they are taking the authority that Jesus, they’re trying to put themselves in the same place as Jesus almost, it’s like they’re covering, almost like you can’t do anything without them.
know it’s like you can’t even dot call house without going through them and i just want to do elaborate on that scripture that i just want to make sure i’m not going to be rebellious when it comes to the church i’m just trying to get better understanding of the role of the pastor in the of the old minister well very good as a good question and and obviously some people take things to access this has to do with the course church government and and uh…
spiritual things within the uh… the church and obviously if you have joined the church then you should submit yourself to the leadership. If you cannot agree or you believe they are abusive or wrong you can appeal or you can find another church and probably the latter is what you ought to do. But in any case there are several areas where we are to follow a chain of authority. The The first institution that God set up was marriage. And there we find that the husband is the head of the home, not the dictator, but the head of the home.
And the husband and wife should perhaps discuss things and the husband needs to listen to his wife. But ultimately he is responsible to make the final decision for the family. You know when Mary and Joseph had the baby Jesus and Herod was going to kill the child, The Lord spoke to Joseph and said, Take thy wife and the baby down to Egypt until the death of Herod. He didn’t tell Mary to take your husband and the baby, but the family was led through the man and that’s the authority structure.
Then we have human government which got established back there in the days of Noah. We find that we are to obey our government as long as they don’t ask us to do things that are kinder to God’s word. We are to submit ourselves to the government. And if we pay, or to pay taxes, we are to pay taxes and whatever they require of us we are to do. Also then in the church for structure and order we are to follow the chain of command and so on.
So let’s say you’re a choir member and then you’re under the leadership of the choir director and he’s probably under the authority of the deacons or the elders and then the pastor is directing the church and of course he’s under God but certainly they don’t have the right to deal into your personal decisions which are not church related. So I believe that if he’s, if he can’t even buy a car or a good grocery shopping without the church’s permission, then that’s a little crazy.
That I don’t think is what intended here, but it’s talking about order within the church, order within our country or under our government and in order within the family. The children are owned by the parents, the wife is the father of the lead of the husband and the husband is the father of Christ, lead and so on. Thank you for that call and now we’re going to go to our break and then we’ll come back and do Bible and Part 2.

And then at 8 o’clock we were on in the Tampa Bay area on more television in channel 32 here locally. We invite you to be a partner to pray for us and give the Bible on. Your gifts are indispensable. Thank God for all of you who do give without you.
We couldn’t be on the air. What a blessing you are to us. And we thank you. We are really a low budget operation. We have volunteers. I’m a volunteer by staff. I have two men right now answering our calls. They volunteer themselves and the three of us right now are the staff and we don’t get paid We don’t ask for pay. We’re simply trying to take every dime We can and put it back into getting this ministry this word of God out as far as we can in this world We don’t have any pledges or subscribers or we don’t even have a piggy bank or a reserve account We trust God every week, every day, to supply.
And what America did is to watch how he does that. I’ll never forget when we started five years ago with a 15-minute program. I was asked if I might consider doing a 15-minute program, and I thought to myself, how can I do that? I don’t have the money to pay for it. If I sign this contract, I’ll be embarrassed that I have to say I can’t afford to pay it, and it’ll go off the year. Well, unfortunately, that was the situation, but we prayed about it.
And the final day when I had to make a decision, I was sitting in my office praying and asking the Lord, what should I do? A fellow drove up, I hadn’t seen him for years, came in, we talked for a while, he handed me a check as he came in and I stuck it in my shirt pocket and he stopped me and said, aren’t you going to look at that check? He said, I felt you had a need here and I wanted to bring this money by for whatever need it is.
And I then pulled it out of my pocket and looked at it. It was a check for $30,000. Wow. Well, that made the decision. That began us. And with that money, we were able to get going and start to build an audience of people just like you who like the program. And then we were offered a half hour. We said, how can we possibly pay for that? We couldn’t hardly pay the 15 minute program and the Lord supplied as we stepped out on faith and then the opportunity came for a full hour to open up and we said, Lord, how can we do that?
We can barely meet the half hour need and again the Lord’s supplied as we went and then we never thought we’d get out of Tampa and now we’re really through the internet and through our stations across North America we’re covering a lot of America and a lot of the the world through the internet and we’re just grateful. Maybe you’d like to give a gift and you can do that by telephone, by credit card or you can call, get our address and…
Male a gift to Bibleline at 4811 George Road, Tampa, Florida the zip is 33 634 We’re going to the phone lines. I’m Dr. Angk Winston. This is Bibleline and the phone line number is 1-800-576-3771 We have Garland in Zephyr Hills, Florida Garland. Welcome to Bible Yes, sir. You’re on here. If my sister was raised to no costal in here a few years ago she made a man that’s under just some Muslim and supposedly to be made into that faith.
you have to convert. To do explain Hebrews, chapter 6, verses 4 through 6, I believe, pertaining to her life. Well… Well, Hebrews chapter 6 really is talking about a believer getting away from the Lord and how that if you do that You’re gonna lose that on reward. It says in verse 10 God is not unrighteous to forget your work and your labor of love, and He will reward you for faithful service. He tells us not to be slothful in the following verse, which would mean that we would lose out on rewards in heaven.
But in 4 through 6, even if you depart away from the things of the Lord, if you are truly saved, you don’t need to go back and become saved again. And that’s what it’s saying. It’s impossible to go back to that change of mind, the repentance, which means change of mind, that occurs when you get saved. And so if she converts to Islam, if she would genuinely say, but you tell me she was Pentecostal, that raises questions because most Pentecostals believe in works for salvation and you can lose your salvation.
And if you believe you can lose it, you probably don’t have it because you’re saying that how you live your life till you die will be the ultimate determining factor in whether you go to heaven or not which is works and therefore she’s her own savior not Christ and she’s trusting in her work so you need the leader to Christ but if she was ever genuinely saved Christ said he would never cast her out John 637 he would never lose her John 639 she is eternally saved.
So we’ll pray for her. I think she’ll regret converting to Islam. Women are the lowest thing on the totem pole just above a worm if you become a Muslim wife. So you wouldn’t want to, I wouldn’t wish that on any woman, that’s for sure. But that’s exactly, they are not a steam very highly in the Middle East. They don’t want them to get an education. They have to keep themselves covered all the time. They can’t go out and restrict it for most things that they can do.
And they can be falsely accused of a sexual crime and then the family can kill them and get away with it. There’s no murder charge. There’s terrible things, these so-called mercy killings that take place throughout all the Middle East where family members will kill a young lady and sometimes just to get rid of them. But that is a sad state of life for women under Islam. We are now going to go to Bob in Sarasota. Bob, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Good morning Hank, how are you? Good. I should know the scripture but I don’t. Does it say somewhere in the Bible that nobody can say but by the Holy Ghost that Jesus is born in the flesh? And if that’s the case, is this some kind of an acid test for good the saying? No. No, it’s not at all. What it’s simply saying is… I’m going to hang up the Listen Hank. All right, what it’s really saying is that that is a revelation that has come from God, the Holy Spirit, who is the author of scripture.
And it’s not saying that you couldn’t verbalize those words without being saved. An unsaved person could say those words certainly. I could go to somebody who’s unsaved and say, hey, repeat after me and they could say them. But that revelation, just like in Matthew 16, when Jesus gave his great confession of faith, he said, I believe that now aren’t the Christ, the Son of the living God, Jesus said that that revelation concerning who Christ was that Peter believed and confessed was from God, that he wouldn’t have known that had not God revealed himself and shared it.
So that’s all it’s saying. So if you are waiting to hear somebody say that and think that that is the ticket to find out whether they are truly a believer or not, that is not necessarily true. An atheist could say that, but the truth would be true because it came from God the Holy Spirit through the Word of God as God has revealed who He is within His Word. But it is not a promise that that person necessarily is saved.
They have to have trusted Christ as their very own Savior that buys death and shed blood their sins were paid for. And unless they’ve done that, they are not saved. Thank you, Bob. That was Bob done in Sarasota. By the way, on that Hebrews 6 it keeps coming up. If you go to my website and you go to Dr. Lindstrom’s articles, you can download the article I wrote about that. I’ve called it cleverly. Hebrews 6, 4, through 6. So go to my website, go to my articles, and then look for that article under the letter H, Hebrews 6, 4, through 6, and you’ll find the answer.
Mr. spelled out quite clearly. We have an author John in Petersburg, Virginia says, you say Jesus is in the Old Testament. Where? That way it says Joshua, but where? I said you shoe up. In any case, first of all, the first promise of becoming of Christ John is in Genesis 15 there God announced that the seed of the woman would defeat Satan and the seed of the woman is a reference we believe to the more Jesus Christ, you know normally Seed is passed on through the man, but here talks about a woman having a child without a man perhaps availed reference to the virgin birth then it also says that that Satan would be crushed, his head would be bruised by the seat of the woman speaking of the defeat of Satan at the Second Coming.
But then it also says that Satan would bruise the heel of the seat of the woman which is Christ at his first coming. So we have the first and second coming in that verse in Genesis 3.15. And the bruising of the heel of the Messiah, the Savior, is a veiled reference, I believe, the crucifixion, the only death that we know of, where the victim’s heel is bruised is crucifixion because when a person is crucified, they have to push up on their heel for every breath suspended with their arms outstretched.
They can exhale, but they cannot inhale. So for a person being crucified, they had to push up on their heel for every breath to fill their lungs and they would slump down and exhale. And so the victim after doing that for hours and hours would have their heel bruised. Isn’t God amazing? The first reference to the crucifixion, the first reference to the virgin birth, the first reference to the Lord Jesus Christ right there, Genesis 3.15. Then you have Abel offering up a lamb.
We know that that lamb was a picture of Christ, the Lamb of God that would be slain to pay for the sins of the world. That is in Genesis chapter 4. You don’t have to go far to find Jesus. You need to open up your eyes and ask the Lord to help you find it. But it is everywhere. Jesus is there. And of course the contraction of God’s personal name Yahweh or Jehovah with a word for salvation In Yasha, he pronounced Jehovah or Yeshua in the Old Testament over 130 times.
And it’s everywhere. If you concordance out and do your homework, you’ll find it. Jesus is there. And Jesus himself said it. In John chapter 5, Jesus said, if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me, for he wrote of me. Wow. Jesus says, if you don’t believe the writings of Moses, Moses spoke about me, he wrote about me. And so if you haven’t seen it, then you need to take a new look. And he’s there. Jesus is throughout the Old Testament and Jesus tells us the Old Testament was written about him.
We have John in Sarasota. John, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Thank you so much, Dr. Hank. I just want to say, Lord bless you. really respect you and tremendously appreciate your stand on the word of God just being as the ultimate authority for life and practice for the Christian. I want to ask you a question. I’m just really wrestling with I’ve got three friends that are living in sin with members of the opposite sex and they all profess very strongly that they’re believers and I know we’re saved by grace and I believe that fully but boy I run up against scriptures and one in Corinthians I can’t remember the address but the other in Galatians 5, 19 through 21 basically says if our life exhibits certain attributes, we better question ourselves because we may not end up inheriting the kingdom of God.
And so I believe fully we’re saved by grace, but I wrestle with how to share with these folks and challenge them to really examine their lives and to walk full path in Galatians 5, 19 through 21. Well, those two passages, let’s take the first Corinthians 1, 1st, 1st Corinthians 6, 9, or 11. It says, no, you not get the unrighteous, shall not inherit the kingdom of God. The unrighteous are unbelievers. They’re standing before God in their own righteousness, which is unrighteousness.
When we trust Christ, then we’re seen as righteous as God because of the imputed righteousness of God that’s given to our account. It lists then a whole bunch of different sins, which all of us are included in that list somewhere. Then it says in verse 11, and this is a verse that people don’t catch, but it says, and such were some of you, but you are washed, you are sanctified, you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the spirit of our God.
So although the unsaved will go to hell because of any of those sins or even one, the believer is seen as washed, sanctified, justified in the name of Christ. Therefore, it says in the next verse, all things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient. What it means is, since you’ve already been tried, judged, and pronounced righteous in God’s court of law as a believer, you could really do anything, and it’s lawful, but it’s not the smart thing to do because of two things.
Number one, God will spank you, and the second thing is that you’ll stand and give an account one day and you’ll suffer the loss of reward and embarrassment and you’ll be ashamed that you didn’t live for Christ after you were saved. And so Paul appeals to them on both of these counts. In fact, in 1 Corinthians 6, then in verse 19 and 20, he says, what don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you which you have of God and therefore you’re not your own, you’re bought with the price, therefore glorify God in your body.
So we’re told to glorify God in our body because we’ve been bought and paid for and now our bodies are His temple. And when we do things that are sinful in this body, we involve Christ in that sin. And obviously we’re going to be held accountable for that and God will spank us and He might even take us home to heaven early and we’ll also then come up short at the judgment seat of Christ if we don’t of the Lord.
In Galatians it is talking about the same thing. It says to the Christian in verse 16, the secret to the Christian life is obedience. It says walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. So the whole point is to be doing the right things as much of your day as you can and you won’t have time to do the wrong things. And then it warns about how that if you do the wrong things then the type of fruit that you’ll have in your life is going to be murders and endings and strife and and revelings and and fights and and all kinds of things that you really isn’t something you say boy I wish I could wake up today and have all these things in my life.
Adult 3 and Fortication all these things will be the result but it says if we would only walk in the Spirit and yield ourselves to live after the Spirit of God then we’d have the fruit of the Spirit which is love and joy and peace in the Galatians 5, 22, and 23. But then as far as our salvation is concerned, it says, we have already verse 24 been crucified with Christ. So God sees us crucified in chapter 2, verse 20 of Galatians, He says, I’m crucified together with Christ, nevertheless I live.
God sees us as nailed to that cross if we have trusted Christ and we have been crucified and were saved. But that doesn’t save us from the consequences of living an un-Christian life as a Christian after we’re saved. And we’ll have all the nasty things of the fush in the way of fruit in our life in verse 18 and 19 of Galatians 5. But if we, and of course it’s saying there that the unrighteous, that is those that are unsaved, we’ll go to help because of those things but we won’t.
We’ll simply have that awful fruit in our life and the misery that goes with it plus God’s chastisement plus the loss of reward as we stand before the Lord at the goodness of Christ. So they’re not going to get away with it and if you look at 1 Corinthians 5, 1 through 5 there’s a man living in fornication and the Lord takes his life early. And so they’re living a risky business with God if they’re a Christian and do that.
David didn’t get away with his sin with Bathsheba and so on and so on. You can read it throughout the Bible. And so if they’re truly saved, now if they’re not saved, then God won’t interfere. It says in Hebrews 12 8, Hebrews 12 8 says, if you be without discipline or chastisement or of all of my children or partakers, you’re a bastard and not one of my sons. In other words, it’s an evidence you’re not saved if you could live as you please and God doesn’t interfere.
He only disciplines his children. So if they’re not being disciplined, then they’re probably not safe. And that book concerns me for these friends of mine. You know, I wonder if they’ve prayed a little fire insurance prayer, but it’s just, you know, they really haven’t trusted in Christness and seerway that’s brought about some evident change in their lives. And, you know, because I think about Matthew and the sheep from the goats and boy, their works were an important thing or the tree that doesn’t bear any fruit that’s chopped down.
when you don’t see any fruit you just want to be in really trusted in the grace of christ and then had that heart transforming power the holy spirit no one well i’ll pray for you and your friends and uh… just have to in love uh… make sure that their salvation first and then and then point out that if you’re truly saved uh… don’t you realize what you’re doing it your body is god’s temple and you are uh… obviously counting it not as very precious in god’s sight whereas he wants you to glorify himself in that body of yours.
Amen. I sure will. Thank you, John. Lord, bless you, Hank. John in Sarasota, Florida. And difficult time we’re living in now. It’s a time of wickedness. And the Bible says that we would not see revival as we look for the Lord to come back, we would see as it says in 2 Timothy 3 13, evil men would grow worse and worse this seething and being deceived. And in 2nd, Pusalonians 4, 3 and 4, there would be this drifting from the truth where they would not endure sound doctrine.
And boy, has that ever happened? I have people all across America calling me and telling me they have a real difficult time finding a good sound Bible believing teaching church. And that’s why we’re going to put up our worship service on the internet. We’re going to webcast our morning worship service on Sundays and it’ll drop an archive. You’ll be able to watch that and hopefully it’ll be a blessing to you that are struggling to find a place where you can hear good sound teaching in the worship services in your church.
So pray for us as we try to expand. Obviously there’s equipment costs and other things that as we try to spend more money to get this message out and try to reach the needs of the people that are out there, maybe you’d like to help us and send a gift to Bible and we could really use it at this time and you can do that by credit card over the phone and or you can call and get our address or have our operators million envelope with it on it and you can mail a gift to Bible on it.
But God bless you. Thank you in advance for your prayers and for your support of the Bible on program. We have off air questions coming in from all over. If you have an off air question, you’re welcome to call in with that question and leave it but we will answer it when we can get to it. But you are also welcome to call in with a live question. I want to remind you again that if you are in the Tampa Bay area, we will have that third Sunday dinner which is a wonderful time to come by and visit with us if you are coming from a distance.
But also that afternoon at three will have a baptism if you have not been water baptized by immersion. sense your salvation experience. You’re welcome to be a part of it. I’d be humbled and honored to be the one to perform your baptism. Some people are attending churches where they don’t baptize by immersion and obviously the biblical testimony is a immersion which is a picture of a complete washing or cleansing of your sin by the blood of Christ. Water doesn’t take away your sin but there is no such thing as infant baptism.
So you can just say if you You were baptized as an infant. That’s just as that count. If you were baptized before your salvation experience doesn’t count, you need to be able to give testimony since your salvation. We have Stephen in Warwick, Rhode Island calling in and Stephen, welcome to Bible In. You’re on the air. Nice to hear somebody from Rhode Island today listening on the Internet.
