Bibleline Radio Show – 2007-02-02 – Contemporary terms that are not the Gospel

CONTEMPORARY TERMS THAT ARE NOT THE GOSPEL are terms that relate to the Christian life and NOT SALVATION. When applied to salvation they add works in a subtle way. “I am asking you to commit your life to Jesus Christ.” This implies a promise to live your life for Christ to be saved. Additionally, it is often presented as a commitment of the total emotion, will and intellect of the person. This is a subtle way of asking the person to keep the first commandment.

In the last week’s of two hours of instruction each week, ten hours of teaching, they’ll be available on CD and DVD. Not too late to sign up and take it on the Internet. If you want to see those classes live and then just review them as often as you want throughout the week, call them and register and get the passcode and you’ll be able to take the Internet class.

Jesus is coming. I have about 40. I’ve taught for three different Bible colleges, I taught 11 years, for the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and I have about 40 different series of 10 to 12 hours of teaching on many subjects. Maybe they would help you. And we hope that you’ll take advantage. You can go on our online bookstore and order them, or you can call our operators and ask what we have, or they can send you a resource sheet that will list the items that we have here available for you.

And of course we recommend the old Scofield Reference Bible. And you know that is such a marvelous Bible because the notes are geared to doctrine. They’ll help you so much. I was just talking to a fellow yesterday and he was inquiring about the Trinity. One of the things that’s so helpful is the Scofield notes in letting you know that when the translators translated the King James Bible, they took the word capital G, little O, little D, to use to let us know that the Hebrew word in the Old Testament was Elohim.

Elohim, E-L-O-H-I-M, is the word that denotes the office of God, and it’s plural. And plural in Hebrew is three or more. There we have certainly the concept of a triune God mentioned right there in Genesis 1-1 where it says in the beginning Elohim. So here we have God as a plurality, the eternal Father, the eternal Son, the eternal Holy Spirit, all coexisting at the same time and yet there is only one God, each one is God. And yet when you see in the Old Testament the word God in all capitals, capital G, capital O, capital V, have you noticed that?

That comes from God’s personal name, which is the Four Consonants in Hebrew, which are translated today either as Jehovah or Yahweh. Nobody is really sure how to pronounce God’s name, but those are the two ways that people pronounce those Four Consonants, YHWH. And the most modern way of pronouncing that is by taking two vowels and putting YHWHH, And that would be pronounced Yahweh. How many of you have heard that pronunciation? Raise your hand. Okay, I see a lot of you.

Alright, Yahweh comes from the Four Consonants and in your English King James, God and all capitals and Lord and all capitals, capital R, capital D. And God, capital G, capital O capital D, both are equivalent and come from God’s personal name, Yahweh or Jehovah. Then you have Lord in small letters, capital L, little O, little R, little D. That comes from the Hebrew word adenoi. And adenoi is a word of respect. It means sir. It also means master or Lord as in Lord over you as an employer or a master if you’re of slave and God is of course the one who is king and Lord over all in this universe.

So that’s a little bit of a help but it is quite interesting that these words also help us get the meaning that there is a triune God. I want to talk a little bit today about one of the contemporary terms that is used not so much as it used to be, but is also a false gospel. And that is to ask somebody to commit their life to Christ to be saved. You know, that’s nowhere in the Bible, nowhere in the Bible, nowhere in the Bible.

And yet for many years I used to hear that as one of the most common ones. It’s amazing how Christianity shifts around because now there are new popular ones and They’re not the same old ones, but commit your life. Notice there that it’s really all about works. And the focus is on what? Commit what? Your life. Your life. In other words, how are you going to live your life? If you commit that to Christ, they say you’ll be saved.

That’s works. I knew there was something wrong with that as a new believer. And I remember one night I couldn’t sleep, and I got up and I… He went into, believe it or not, the closet. Heh heh. He turned on the closet light and sat on the floor and the closet was reading. And the Lord showed me from Matthew 22 the subtlety of this whole invitation to invite someone to commit their life to Christ to be saved. I was reading here and here’s a lawyer.

That comes and ask Christ the question tempting him in Matthew 22, and he says in verse 36 here master what is the great commandment in the law? In verse 37 Jesus said in him thou shalt love the Lord thy God With all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind now What is interesting is that many use the phrase commit your life, but also they say commit your total emotion will and intellect to Christ. And all of a sudden it was like I saw the connection.

You know love is a commitment. And here it says, Thou shalt love the Lord, Thy God, with all Thy heart that’s comparable to your emotions. And then with all your soul that’s comparable to your will and with all your mind that’s comparable to your intellect. So really this This is a subtle way of saying keep the first commandment. Let us verse 38 here in Matthew 22. Christ says this is the first and great commandment. Now what is interesting here is that most people would never tell the lost person keep the commandments or keep the first commandment to be saved.

Because there are so many scriptures that say nobody has ever been able to be saved by keeping the commandments. It says that everywhere almost. In fact in Galatians 2 16 it’s a tough verse but I memorize this as a brand new believer and it was a challenge to me to memorize it because it’s lengthy but I’m going to quote it right now. My Bible is not open to it and it says knowing, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ even we have believed in Jesus Christ that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law for by the works of the law shall no flesh shall no flesh be justified.

Not one person not one soul not one individual will ever be justified by the law. But we’re justified by faith in Jesus Christ. I could still quote that and I learned that verse many many years ago. And I’m so glad that I started memorizing scripture early on in my Christian life. Well, this is one of those commandments that the Bible says cannot save you. Here Jesus said when he was asked, what is the great commandment in the law? He says, I will love the Lord thy gun.

That is a commitment when you love someone, you commit to them. And it says, I will love the Lord thy gun with all thy heart. That’s your emotion, with all your soul, that’s your will, with all your mind, that’s your intellect. And so many organizations use this phrase. I think it’s still in the Four Spiritual Flaws if you use that track. I think it is called the Four Spiritual Laws, but that’s a terrible witnessing tool. It says that you must commit your life to Christ.

That’s terrible. It’s actually a subtle way that the devil has got people to say, keep the first commandment and you’ll be saved when the Bible says we know that a man is not justified by the commandments by the works of the law. by faith in Jesus Christ. Isn’t the Devil a clever devil? He is able to twist the words around a little bit. Christians go right over their head, they don’t even realize they’ve fallen into Satan’s hands and have begun to teach a works for salvation message by keeping the law or keeping at least the first commandment which is all of the law summed up in one.

If you keep that commandment, supposedly you’ll be safe, that is not true. That is a false gospel. And amazing to me to see that as a young believer. You know, I graduated from the University of Florida in electrical engineering. And for me, always A plus B had equal C. And it never made sense to me many things I would here in church that???Apr That just really caused me a lot of problems. I said, how can this happen? I know in my field of study in engineering, you can’t do that.

2 plus 2 is 4. In Russia, in Europe, in Africa, in Australia, in South America, North America, and outer space, 2 plus 2 is 4. But you know, as an analogy, you can go to some churches and they might say 2 plus 2 is 5 and people say amen. Hallelujah. Preach it. Another church right down the street might say 2 plus 2 is 7 and they’ll say Hallelujah, amen. and all right praise God and so on and so on and you say how can that happen in the area of churches of religion it seems like they can say anything and it doesn’t have to be connected to truth.

What we’re saying here at Bible and you need to go back to the Bible and see what the scriptures teach and it says in Isaiah 8 20 if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. That’s right. No light in them. You need to be careful that you don’t accept a message that’s not able to be supported by Scripture. Many, many people need to be saying, chapter and verse please, show me where that is in the Bible and I’ll believe it.

But they can’t show you a verse that says commit your life to Christ to be saved. There’s nowhere in the Bible that it says And yet you’ll hear preachers say that and many other phrases that people will use that are not the gospel To be saved you must trust Christ That he died shed his blood and paid your sin debt on the cross in full Was buried and rose mmol from the dead and when you trust Christ as your only hope of heaven God save you I’m Dr.

EngSTATE. This is Bible. I thank you for tuning in today We’re going to go ahead and start taking callers and we’ve got lots of offer questions we’ll try to answer as well. We have Joan in Tampa, Florida and Joan. Welcome to Bibleline You’re on the air. Oh, Dr. I’ve got three quick questions and I’d like to ask them and then hang up and let you answer. First and Jeremiah 23, the whole chapter is on speak the pastors that destroy and scatter sheep.

Does that include the pastors today? teaching you should bind evil spirits like Paul did in Acts 16 and also Paul at the end of his apostleship couldn’t even heal Timothy but all these healing people out there and he couldn’t even heal Timothy or Trophinus. So I don’t know about that in prayer clause. Would you expound on those and I’ll hang up. Alright, well sure do that. You know in Jeremiah chapter 23 it’s interesting you ask if it applies to the preachers today.

sure does, and you’ll see that right in this chapter where it actually tells us, this was written for our learning, and it says in verse 20, that in the latter days you shall consider it perfectly. Don’t we’re in the latter days. We’re right there now. The Jewish people are back in the state of Israel, and the Bible describes it as the latter days. So here it tells us that the Lord has given us this so that in the latter days in which we are living now we will be able to consider this perfectly and realize that there are a lot of preachers that are preaching the imagination of their own heart as it says in this chapter and theyquartered his word.

He tells us that a true preacher let him speak my word faithfully. And so the false teacher will teach whatever they dream up in their head. And God says he’s against them, he’s angry with them, and he’s going to judge them. But the miracle gifts are gone, they were temporary in nature. And so forget the prayer clause, forget the healing today. God can heal. I believe in divine healing, but I don’t believe in divine healers. If they could, why don’t they come to town and go right to the hospitals and empty them out room by room, bed by bed, floor by floor?

Wouldn’t that be wonderful if some healer would come into town and go ahead and visit all the hospitals in Tampa or in your city wherever you might be listening to this program? Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Boy, that would get some headlines, wouldn’t it? But they can’t do that. They can’t heal at all. This is all a charade today, and people are, unfortunately, falling for it. We had a lady here from our church, her son told her not to go visit the Benny Hinn meeting that was coming to town.

She went anyway, and being slain in the Spirit, which is unscriptural, in that meeting, fell against the side of the pew, broke her arm between her elbow and her shoulder. She was screaming in pain. They told her to shut up and they dragged her out of the meeting. If I was there, I would have dragged her forward. I would say… You have broken her arm you heal it, but they couldn’t heal her and she has been months and months in recuperate That’s a bad break hard one to recover.

I have another fellow my church similarly went to one of those meetings fell back being slain in the spirit against the edge of the few has permanent back injuries and He can give testimony that he wasn’t healed, but he was hurt He was injured They don’t tell you about all those that get hurt in these meetings that get injured in these meetings They never tell you. tell you about that on TV. But there’s a lot of people go to those meetings that come out injured and hurt and you never get to hear about it.

But I’ve got several right here in my own church that have been hurt by these so-called healers today. Anyway, we thank you, Joan, for calling in and we apologize if you got dropped. I thought I heard you say you were going to hang up and listen on the air. So maybe that’s what happened to you. Anyway we have Benjamin in Clearwater and Benjamin welcome the Bible on your own the earth. Good at the hang. Hello. Yes, youcli there. I’m talking to you.

If you listen to the radio that’s going to really cause you a serious, you might have to go ahead and get medical treatment.successfulUCTanguardoaded.com. There were 20 second to late on the radio. So if you listen to the radio, you’ll have to wait 20 seconds for everything I say to you on the phone. Very good, very good. Listen, I have two questions, please. In Romans 12, 1 and 2, I see they are poor, talk about the service. One look like a spiritual service.

Another one, the second question is to who Paul is talking when he say present our body in a live sacrifice. He talked to our spirit or talked to our soul. Belichick, who is the one who supports 2%? The body sacrifice in that. Say, you send that to me. Thank you. He’s talking there about you, the real you. If you want to call it you, your soul, to present your body a living sacrifice. And this is to people that are saved.

He’s talking to believers there. Notice he is talking to people he calls brethren. If you are a believer, then you have become born again in the family of God and you have then become one of the brothers or sisters in the family of God as every believer is then placed in the God’s family and becomes sons or daughters of God and God becomes their father for the first time. And he says he pleads with us based upon the mercies of God, in view of chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, Magicka in Romans where he tells us about God’s wonderful mercy and his grace.

In view of we are forever based upon his grace, not a place where Romans 11, 6, Romans 11, 6, Romans 11, 6, Romans 11, 6, Romans 11, 6, Romans 11, 6, Romans The Bible is made by grace and it’s no more of works. Otherwise, grace isn’t grace. By definition, you violate the meaning of the word grace if you add any works. There are many churches that do that and they say that grace is to be earned or grace is somehow deserved if you are faithful.

Grace has nothing to do with works. It says in Romans 11, 6, 8, and all. If you are saved by grace, then it is no more of works, otherwise by definition grace isn’t grace. And so he tells us that we ought to live for Christ. And it goes on in the end of verse 2 to say this is your reasonable service. It’s only reasonable ): at the end of verse 1 in chapter 12 that you would serve the Lord if you have accepted the salvation that He purchased by giving His life for us and dying and shedding his blood that you would give your life to be sacrificed to live for his glory.

This is the way the Way the Way the Way can earn rewards. Benjamin, thank you for that call and I hope that helps. We have Kyle down in Sarasota, Florida and Kyle, welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. Hey, Doug, great to hear from you. Hey, I got a question I was talking to a friend about how loose it for a cut out of the kingdom of and body for that he he said he never heard about that being in the Bible and i can find that yet in there and but ball was the one that went up and he had to give him the uh…

scripture and uh… i think it’s second quarantines twelve two and then when i was re i hadn’t given them that but i was rereading it and uh… Then I started to talk back to my head thinking that Paul says he knows a man or was it Paul? Could you explain? Yeah, he’s being humble there and he’s talking about himself and how that 14 years earlier, this incident took place. If you read the book of Acts, it was apparently when he went to the city of Listra.

and there they stoned him and apparently they thought he was dead because they dragged his body out on the garbage dump heap outside the city but then Paul I think is resurrected from the dead there because the next day he moves on to the next city if you and I were stoned even if we hadn’t died we’d become blessing probably in a hospital for maybe a half a year or a year to recover for all those wounds, but he was miraculously restored back to health and brought back to life.

But during that incident, he’s telling us that God taught him up into heaven itself called the Third Heaven. The first heaven being the atmosphere around the earth, the second heaven being the visible heavens that we see with the telescopes, and then the third heaven being the heaven itself where God himself resigned. So Paul is telling us that he’s the one himself that did that. And if you go back 14 years earlier from that writing by Paul and Corinthians, it was probably right there.

Let’s read that story in chapter 14 of Acts. That’s amazing how much I learned from you. Now I’m teaching like you. You make it so clear. And I thank God for you. Well, thank you, Kyle. We’re going to come up on our break now. If you want to ask anymore, you’re going to probably have to hold over it. Oh, no, I do cover it. Thanks. Have a good weekend. God bless you. Thank you so much. That’s Kyle Dennis-Sarasote, and we’re going to take a break and come back and do a second half hour of Bible and so don’t go away.

Stay right here and we’ll be back in just a couple of moments to do the second half hour of Bible and. Don’t go away Bible and we’ll be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well I’m Dr. England Sherman. This is my mind is great to be with you. We sure enjoy being with you. This is Friday and we will be on the air in the Tampa Bay area, Saturday and Sundays. We played the best of and some of the other stations give us a bonus broadcast over the weekend.

So you might check with your local station. But otherwise you can listen to us all week in long on the internet because there were there are 24 hours a day, seven days a week and we hope that you’ll take advantage of the internet. online ministries.org or.com is where you go BibleLineMinistries.org or.com. Please take advantage of that and also we hope that you’ll take a look at our online bookstore. We hope that you’ll take advantage of the many other things that we have on the website.

A lot of people call us and say, I just saw some new things on there. Well, they’re not brand new, but those are things that maybe you haven’t discovered before. There’s a lot on there. You can actually turn into the scriptures and scroll down and read it, but you can also have it read to you. While you do that, I love that. We have five different voices there you can choose from. The one that you find is most pleasant to listen to.

You can have them read the Bible to you. I love to read it and have it read to me at the same time. It seems like you’re getting the information through two of your senses, through your I gate and through your ear gate all at one time. I think it doubles up the and reinforces what you’re taking in. So if I want to try that, we have that available on our website, along with many, many other things. Would you consider giving a gift to Bible and we could use your help?

We have pushed ourselves right out to the limit because we want to reach as many people on the planet as we can with the gospel. If you find this program is a blessing to you. Would :: You help bless someone else by seeing that we are able to not only be on where you are listening but also to help us expand further so that others might enjoy Bible Line. You can send a gift by mail to Bibleline and if you call the 800 number we will be glad to recite that address or send your number with it printed on it and also you can give a gift by credit card over the phone.

Also, if you order any of the resources from Bible, we will get a portion of that, of course, will help Bible as well. We have so many CDs, DVDs, and teaching tools. A lot of people have Bible studies, and they use my teachings as a catalyst, as a way of getting it going. The book of Revelation is being used for many Bible studies across America. You might want to try that, play a portion of my study. We’re going to go to Bibleline Part 2 right now.

Hold on to your radio. We’ll be right back in one second. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. I’m coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios here at the Calgary Community Church. And by the way, we’re located right next to Tampa’s International Airport. If you can find Tampa’s International Airport, you can find us. But if you can’t find Tampa’s International Airport, maybe you better stay home.

I don’t know. It’s such a big target. Everybody could find it. All the major highways come right to the airport and we’re nestled in right there on the west side about one block directly west of the main north-south runway. I feel like we’re so close that I can reach out sometimes and slap those airplanes. And so I’m really saying this so that you’ll get an idea that if you get more than a block or so away from the airport, something’s going wrong and you’re not going to find this.

We’re right next to the airport. So hug the airport on the west and we’re on the street that runs north and south paralleling the road that borders the airport. We’re just a block west on George Road and we’re about directly west of the Tampa airport. Come on by and say hi, you can come by on a Sunday. This Sunday you can come at 9.15 and enjoy my morning adult study that I teach. We have other classes for children and for adults.

You can also come at 10.30 and join us for of the morning worship service and of course we have a Sunday evening service as well at 6 p.m. So you’re welcome to come and join us for those or come by during the week and visit our resource center, open Monday through Friday from about 8.30 till 4.30 in the afternoon. Check out our website. We’ve got so much there and you can keep in constant touch with Bibleline through the website, BibleLineMinistries.org or .com.

Also, would you consider we are totally lister supported? Would you consider giving a gift for this month to Bible Eye? You can do it by sending it by mail and our operators will be glad to tell you what that address is if you want to have them slowly recite it for you or they’ll send you an envelope if you’d like with our address printed on it and or you can give a gift by credit card over the phone and that would help Bible Eye not only to be able to stay on the air where you are listening but also help us to expand to other areas.

And by the way, you that are listening on radio are the eyes and ears for us. If a broadcast doesn’t get aired or you have difficulty with a broadcast on your station, let us know because otherwise we don’t know unless our listeners let us know. We appreciate that call saying, hey, we didn’t hear by the line yesterday for whatever reason and let us know and maybe we can investigate and find out why. So let us know and be our eyes and ears wherever you might be listening to Bibleline and help us out in that regard.

We are going to go ahead and catch some offer questions and then catch these people that are waiting on line to go on live with us. And let’s see here. We attend Bob and Clearwater, it says we attend a big church, five to six thousand people. The pastor is teaching the baptism of the Holy Spirit in tongues and is keeping people after the service to help them with their tongues. Is my wife and I missing something? Yes, you are missing the truth.

ceased 2000 years ago. There’s nobody speaking in tongues today. They’re speaking a gibberish, which all babies do, by the way, they gibber gibber gibber gibber gibber. I have a granddaughter and she can go gibber gibber gibber to me and I can almost repeat some of that and it’s not a language, although I’m sure she’s trying274 to say something, but who knows what she’s saying. In any case, tons of seized 1 Corinthians 13 verses 8 through 10 say they would cease when the New Testament record was complete.

I have people all the time want to debate that. I have a letter in my hand right now. In fact, where this fellow says, when that which is perfect, he says, that’s Jesus. Well, that is not Jesus. If you are aware of this, I don’t know, but in the Greek, there are gender endings for every verb, adverb, noun, and so on. And so this is all neuter. It must refer to a new topic. Jesus in Greek is masculine. Christos is the Greek word and the OS ending lets us know that this is masculine.

The word theos, the OS ending lets us know that God, the word for God, theos in the Greek is masculine. But some say, well, it’s love. It’s the love chapter, 1 Corinthians 13. Love in Greek is feminine. It can’t refer to love either. The Bible is called that which is perfect and James 125 written before 1 Corinthians in Psalms. It says the law of the Lord, that’s the Word of God, is perfect. Making wise the soul, making wise the simple.

The Bible is that which is perfect and when the New Testament record is complete, tongues ended. Study Church history and nobody spoke in tongues apparently after the first century. The early”” Church Fathers who wrote prolifically to each other and there’s tons of Tayyipes and quotes from the Bible, but none of them apparently spoke in tongues. That was gone. And right on through the Dark Ages nobody talked about speaking in tongues. During the Reformation none of the Reformers, Martin Luther didn’t speak in tongues, John Westley didn’t speak in tongues, John Calvin didn’t speak in tongues, Swinley didn’t speak in tongues and so on and so on and so on.

And then as of late the great evangelist of the early past century, Billy Sundey and D.L. Moody, none of them spoke in tongues, but this modern movement of gibberish is none of God at all. And so that’s a tip off. But let me just tell you this. I find that where people do the gibberish, if you ask them the question, can you lose your your salvation, they’re always going to say yes. And guess what? That is a major, major, major, major problem.

Why? Because you’re not saved if you believe you can lose it because obviously you don’t have it. Let me say this. If you’re not saved forever, you’re not saved. And if you say you can lose it, then you’re telling me that how you live your life between now and death will determine whether you’re saved or not. That’s works. If you tell me, and then I usually ask him, I usually say, let me see if I got this straight. You’re telling me that if I live the Christian life faithfully until I die, I’ll go to heaven.

Is that right? Oh yeah, that’s right. That’s right. And then I ask if you’re saying, you know, let me see if I got this right, that if I somehow during my Christian life backslide and stop serving Christ and die, I’d go to hell. Is that right? Yeah, oh yeah, that’s right. That’s right. Then I said, stop and think for a minute. telling me that what I do between now and death determines my salvation. That’s works. And I tell them they’re not saved at all.

I remember one young man I told that too and I said, you’re not saved. And he said, yes, I am. I said, no, you’re not. And I said, no, you’re not. I said, the reason why you’re not saved is because you’re trusting in your works. He said, no, I’m not. I said, yes, you are. He said, no, I’m not. I said, yes, you are, and then a diagram decided on paper for him and he just got silent. He realized that yes indeed he was saying without even connecting the dots that how he lived his life ultimately determined his salvation.

That means he was the Savior, not Christ. So those churches that believe that you can lose your salvation, those people are generally not saved at all. They may have gotten saved and then got into bad teaching. That’s possible because once you’re saved, you’re saved forever. But generally they’re not saved at all. I was raised in a church like that. My church taught that you can lose your salvation. It was all about works. And when I saw the Bible teaching in Ephesians 2 8, the salvation was not of works, that it was the gift of God, that it was not of myself.

I realized somebody’s wrong. I said to myself, either my church is right and the Bible is wrong, or the Bible was right and my church is wrong. I think you know which way I went. I chose the Bible over my church and I realized that I was in the wrong place and I needed to move on. So you might have to move on as well. You are missing if you go there the truth and if you leave there then you’ll be missing the error that you’re being taught in that church whatever that is.

Thank you for calling in. We have Bobbi in Bloomingdale. Florida and Bobby welcome to Bibleline. Where is Bloomingdale, Florida? Hey, good morning. Is that in the Tampa Bay area? That is, um, I don’t even know if it’s actually Bloomingdale. It’s North of Brandon. Okay. Okay. Okay. You have running water out there though. Okay. I’m just easy with you. Um, what’s the question? Um, yeah, I have family members that are, um, seven day at Benton. And I heard you say last week something about the that’s correct and i asked my dad about it because they go to seven-day ministry or chan he said no you die you you go to sleep when you die you go to sleep until the second day second coming to christ and i would just like to know if you can they can they be safe and i’ll hang up and let you okay they can be saved but they’re not saying

that they’re they’re keeping the commandments to be saved are keeping the Sabbath which is one of the ten commandments and we just said in the first half of the program We know Galatians 2 16 that a man is not justified by the works of the law. They’re trying to be saved by the commandments and they are lawkeepers, attending to be saved based on that. But as far as when a Christian dies, we’re absent from the body, present with the ward, 2 Corinthians 5 8.

Need to write that down. 2 Corinthians 5 8. And we find upon death the Bible is very clear. Luke 16, beginning at verse 19, two men die, a beggar named Lazarus, who is saved, a rich man unnamed, who dies, who is lost, and both of them immediately upon death are conscious and fully aware of their circumstances and remember their past. The rich man is in flame and torment, and he knows he is in flame and torment. He says to Abraham, can you send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and come over and tool my tongue because I’m tormented in this flame.

And then Abraham says, son, remember your lifetime. He could remember it was consciousness. There was conversation going on. And we find that the rich man then became concerned about evangelism. And he wanted somebody to be sent back to his family. He had five brothers. He said that he didn’t want them to come to that place. So obviously the lost will be in flame and torment and eventually cast into hell forever and ever and ever. Luke 1619 to the end of the chapter and that’s a powerful, powerful passage.

But when you die, you’re absent from the body, present with the Lord. I think that sums it up. And the seven-dad Minist are wrong on so many things and they’ll never get it right. Do you know why? Because they read the Bible through the lenses of LNG white. All the cults have another source that they put above or greater than the Bible. The Joves Witnesses have the Kingdom Hall and the Watchtower Society literature. The Seven Ed Venice have the writings of LNG white.

They need to pitch all of her books in a garbage can, light them on fire and stick with their Bible and they would come clean. And the Christian scientists have the writings of Mary Baker Eddie. And on and on it goes. If you put any other book above the Bible, the Bible is the Word of God. And you have to judge everything else. As I said, my church, I had to say it’s either my church is right and the Bible is wrong or the Bible is right and my church is wrong.

I chose the Bible over my church and the seven Edvents need to choose the Bible over LNG white. And Bobby will certainly be praying for your relatives that are trapped in that cult. They are a cult. When you deny the basic tenets of Christianity, you’re a cult and that’s what the seven-day Adventists are. We need to pray for them. Some dear people are members of that cult, but they’re blinded by the devil and a and through the writings of Ellen’s U.Y.

They need to get rid of her books, pitch them out, start reading the Bible alone and they’re going to be fine. We have Roger in Foley, Alabama. All right, Roger, welcome to Bibleline Great to Have You on the Bible and Program. Hello. Hi, you’re on the air. Yeah, I’m traveling from… I was meditating on Ezekiel listening to it, the tabernacle, and in verse 45 it says… No more. That’s in chapter 45. And in 47 it shows waters running under the right side of the temple down to the Dead Sea and healing part of the waters of the Dead Sea in chapter 4.

We need to believe that we’re talking about the Mahayl Temple and it hasn’t been under the law with Jesus on the throne and making the sacrifice in our sealed in the book of Rome. Yes they will and that’s a wonderful portion of the Bible. The Bible talks about a a river will flow from underneath the third temple and it will flow two directions. It will flow down to the Mediterranean and flow to the Dead Sea and heal a portion of the Dead Sea so that it will have life.

Right now nothing lives in the Dead Sea but life all along its banks all the way down. There is a desert between Jerusalem and the Dead Sea and that whole desert will blossom and bloom as the Bible said it would. It’s going to be a wonderful time. time. The Christ was actually going to rule the earth during that thousand years from the house of the Lord, which is the temple. That temple doesn’t exist right now, but preparation has been made for it to be rebuilt, and we believe shortly right after the rapture, which could happen at any time, that temple will be rebuilt and of course, desecrated by the antichrist during those seven years of tribulation.

But then Christ will come back and cleanse it and establish His Kingdom and then the whole earth will be at peace. But yes, they will be observing the Sabbath during that time.duration This Kingdom was a promise to Israel and of course the Gentiles will also enjoy this wonderful thousand years of peace on earth. Good will toward men. But yes indeed they will and they will have sacrifices at the temple but they will be memorial in nature. They don’t save anybody.

Price sacrificed 2,000 years ago is the means by which everybody who would ever be saved in the human rights would be saved. Now, it also says that that’s to me that back to the people. Yep, you’re absolutely right. In fact, it says in Isaiah that if a person dies at 100 during the millennium, they’re going to say he was just a child. He was just getting going. I think possibly somebody might be at the senseless record of 969, so we’ll have to wait and see.

But if you are a young person at the beginning of the millennium, you could live all the way, maybe almost all way or all the way to the end which would mean the business record of nine sixty nine might get broken by somebody now i know you don’t believe quite the same way as i do what i’m a young earth creationist and i think that don’t hang me up at all the way you look at it but uh… you don’t hang me up either because you know that’s not a major doctor you know we call well the reason i’m asking is the animals are the why i don’t wait on in each straw like the ox do you believe the fact that uh…

in the car on the time of the garden at the animals were came on i think they probably were thank you uh… thank you so much you know it was uh… roger and fully alabama actually headed to the fortabor driving apparently and we have paul in the seminal florida and uh… paul uh… welcome to battle hello hello paul you know i have a question Romans 10, 9, and 10, and 13. Okay. If you believe that the gospel, where you’re first Christmas 15, are you saved immediately and forever?

Yes. Okay, now here I’m a young Christian and I go to a church like Galatia and the church circumcision or keep your law. Don’t do as much salvation. Well, you won’t lose it, but if you are putting yourself in bondage, if you go allow them to put you under the law. Paul wrote to the Galatia believers that had gotten saved and he says why do you want to return to where you were before? He said you have \(\ been set free Chapter 5.

Is this stand fast in the Liberty wherewith you have been set free? Why would you want to go back under the law when you have been set free from the law? So it seems a little bit craziness. So apparently don’t you think there is a lot of Christians like that today? Oh my goodness. And they are in a church where they don’t believe it and they are not taught it. Yeah, I think that happens, for sure. But I’m really concerned though that the majority start off in those churches and are raising those churches and they never get the gospel and think that they’re saved by keeping the law or keeping works.

And that’s a tragedy. That scares me because I was in that situation and I just thank God that the gospel intercepted my life at an early age of 18. I think my parents were saved born again, but they were never taught to hear the believer. They just, I know they were born again because of their confession of faith, but they didn’t know. They never grew in security. I can buy that. I think that a lot of Christians are saved in lack of assurance, and then others fall into bad doctrine and get deceived after they’re saved.

Once you’re saved, you’re saved forever. Well, that’s what I thought that I understand and I believe that. That’s what I think about a lot of people who play in the Armenian doctor. And yet I can’t think they’re all washed. Well, I think a lot of them are. And but we need to, obviously, as a witness, not take for granted that they might be safe. We need to go back and start all over with them and make sure that they’re safe.

Right. Adinida Right. I agree. And Paul, thank you for calling. You’re welcome. All right. We have now coming up on the line here. We have Robert in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Robert, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, sir. Dr. Hank, I believe like you that all one has to do to be saved is trust Jesus. But I’ve needed some insight on Hebrews 5-9 where it read salvation to all who obey him. I enjoyed the show new listener and I’ll get off and listen to your answer.

Alright, thank you for calling in from Chattanooga, Tennessee. In Hebrews 5’9″, that word obey when we obey Christ, when we obey Him to be saved, we believe on Him. You know, Jesus said in John 6’47, barely, verily I say unto you, He the believeth on Me has everlasting life. So when you take him in his word and believe on him or trust him, you’re obeying him and you’re saved. Second Thessalonians chapter 1 verse 8 talks about Christ and his second coming, coming back in flaming fire, taking vengeance on those that obey not the gospel.

Well, the gospel is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. You obey the gospel by trusting Christ as your Savior. You disobey the gospel by rejecting Christ as your Savior. Now after you are saved when you obey Him, that’s a different ball game. To be saved we recognize we cannot work to be saved and trust in the finished work of Christ. After we are saved we recognize that we are saved now forever and now to obey Him means to do what He wants us to do as His child and that will bring about rewards in our life.

So as a believer, we ought to read our Bibles. We ought to fellowship with other Christians. We ought to pray. We ought to witness, and so on and so on. There are many things outlined that we’re to be obedient to, but we’re not to mix the two. We’re saved by trusting Christ. Then we are rewarded for serving Christ after we’re saved. So hopefully, Robert, that’ll help you understand that. So when it says obey or disobey, Peter and also Paul talk about those that are disobedient.

I didn’t know what that meant. I thought that was just people who just did their own thing. But it’s always disobedient to the gospel that causes them to be lost. And so when they are obedient to the gospel to believe or trust Christ, they’re saved. But when they’re disobedient to the gospel, then they’re lost. And Peter actually uses those very phrases that they were disobedient to the Word. the word. They didn’t believe what God said concerning Christ, and so that’s why false prophets are lost and why people are lost because they don’t believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hopefully that helps. Thanks for listening. Pastor, we’re along there up in Chattanooga that we’re on the air. We have Adam in Tampa, Florida, and Adam, welcome to Bibleline you are on the air long before that. Obviously, he is God. If you read John 17 verse 5, Jesus there, praise that he might be restored to the fellowship and glory that he had with the Father before the universe was created. So he’s the eternal Son of God and certainly knew who he was and why he had come.

You know what he said there, we don’t know how a whole lot about what he said, but he said he was about his father’s business, so he knew what he was doing. He knew that Joseph wasn’t his father, but God, the eternal Father was his father. One more quick question. Matthew and Matthew chapter 10 and verse 23. I previously called you. I was wondering when Jesus comes, what’s wrong with you to the conclusion that that’s in the distant future rather than the immediate future?

When he comes, he says that you will not go through all the physical Israel until there’s one man come. Right. So it leaps over the church age and that will be concluded by the hundred four to four thousands of ministry during the tribulation period. He’s talking to the disciples there and he’s talking about meat get things that are going to happen. I don’t know why you come to that. Because it goes to his future disciples. Obviously he’s telling them they’re not going to finish the job.

But it will be concluded and be finished by his future disciples. You see that later in Matthew 24 as well that the Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached everywhere in the whole world, which is not the Gospel of salvation. the Gospel of this kingdom will be taught worldwide during the tribulation period and then Christ will come. Gotta run and thank you for that call and we have more waiting to go and more off-air questions. We’ll just have to catch them on Monday.
