Great BibleLineMinistries.org. Also by the way you can catch our radio programs there 24-7. If you want to hear yesterday’s show or the day before is our last week or last month’s radio shows. They’re right there. You can download them in the MP3 format and put them in your iPod. It’s wonderful. I have a fellow that is here at our church and he has downloaded 271 programs. That’s 271 hours in his iPod. He has a big memory chip, I think, but 271 programs.
He carries with him wherever he goes. He has a little He’ll plug, he plugs it into his stereo system in his car when he’s driving and he can listen to by-blind anytime he wants to. And apparently he does that quite a bit. You’re welcome to take advantage of our website. If you click on the television set, you’ll get our TV programs. If you click on the spinning globe, you’ll get our radio programs. If you click on the camera, you’ll get our worship services and there’s a year’s worth of sermons, audio and video sitting there.
You can download those as well if you have a video I thought. If you click on that camera on Sunday morning at 11 o’clock, you’ll be able to get our Worship Service live. We have people from all over the world that are watching. We had a new family watching from Australia. This past Sunday’s sermon. We have guys in the military that are in the barracks gathered around their laptop that are watching. We have people getting saved. One lady told me, she says, I knew you couldn’t see it, but I raised my hand at the invitation in front of my computer because I wanted to do that to make it official that I trusted Jesus as my Savior in that suite.
So right there in front of her computer, she hears the invitation at the end of the Sunday message and raises her hand to acknowledge that she had trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior. Check out all of these things on our website and of course you can shop there on our online bookstore and we have so many things that I think will be helpful. We’re getting ready to go to Israel and again today is the day you really have to make that decision call me.
One fellow is scrambling to make sure he can be able to go and he’s going to let me know today and some of his friends I think too. So we can get you in and it doesn’t mean you can’t go because as long as the airline hadn’t sold those other seats, you can still get on the plane with us and go. But today really is the day you need to make a decision and put some money down to secure that seat and then you’re in.
So we’re going to go 12 full days in Israel, a 14 day trip. We’ll leave on a Monday coming back on a Friday. We’ll leave February 25th. still over a month away and we’ll come back on the 7th of March. Trip number 15 for me will have a wonderful time and I hope you will join me for the trip of a lifetime really to explore Israel from north to south to east to west and you’re welcome to be a part of that.
We’re going to get into the Bible for a few minutes and then we’ll of course take our callers. We have a number of all your questions that we are getting up on our screen here so that we’ll be able to answer those during the show. And our phone number if you want to dial in is 1-800-576-3771. I want to talk about translations for a little bit here and I’m going to quote here an imaginary conversation in a Bible bookstore.
Here we go. Hello, may I help you? The salesman says. The customer says, yes, I’m looking for a Bible I can use in my church. Could you help me? And the salesman says, I’ll be happy to. I would like to recommend the NIV. It’s our most popular seller. The customer says, do you know the story of the Ethiopian e-theopaedenic? And the salesperson says, sure. So the customer says, well that’s the only verse in Acts 8 that tells us what we have to do before baptism in Acts 8.37.
It’s really important to me that that be in my Bible. Would you read it to me? So the sales clerk opens the NIV and he says, certainly. He looks and looks and he says, ah, it’s not here. The customer says, what’s not here? He says, I’m sorry, but there is no verse 37. Let me just stop for a minute. If you read the NIV, you’ll see verse 36. You’ll see verse 38. There is no verse 37. It’s gone. They’ve omitted 44 entire verses from your Bible.
So you have a Bible missing quite a bit. The customer says, well, I don’t want a Bible that’s missing, something that important. Let’s try another Bible. Well, we have another popular one. The sales person says the revised standard version. Well, my Bible has to be clear. The customer says about the virgin birth. Would you please check Isaiah 714? And so the sales clerk looks it up and he says, hmm, it says a young woman shall conceive. The customer says, well then, forget the revised standard version.
What other Bibles do you have here. He says, well, we’re very proud of the new American standard. It’s called the most literal version. All right, the customer says, would you look up John 647? It’s the one place where Jesus tells us to believe in Him to have eternal life. The salesperson says, wait! It only says, He who believes has eternal life. It doesn’t say who to believe So the customer says, well, my holy cultic friends would love that. They believe but not in Jesus, so much for the new American Standard Version.
Let’s try again. When I witness to Jehovah’s Witnesses, the customer said, I like to use Revelation 111, where Jesus says, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last. What do you have? Well, the salesperson says, well, here’s the new living translation. Let’s see Revelation 1,11. It says, write down what you see, no alpha and omega here. All I see that’s left is the old American Standard. Would you look up the customer and says, 1 John 5, 7?
It tells us the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit are one God. So the salesperson looks up first John 5, and he says, I’m sorry. It says, it is the spirit that bear with witness because the spirit is truth. There is no trinity here in the new living translation. Well, then I guess I’ll just stay with my Bible. It has everything I mentioned to you. And what Bible is that? Well, he says, the King James. It’s interesting that these new translations often just take away and steal from us the the word of God.
We have a book here called New America, a rather new age Bible versions. It’s about 800 pages and it is really quite a study here that covers most of the modern ones, the NIV, the NASB, the NK JV, the NRSB, the NAB, the RAB, the RSV, the CEV, the TEV, the GNB, the living Bible, the Phillips, the New Jerusalem, the New Century and on and So if you want something that would really enlighten you, I think you’ll find this one really will open your eyes as to what these translations have been doing to the Bible.
The NIV is so much like the Joe’s Witness Bible, even the title. The Joe’s Witness Bible is called the New World Translation. The NIV is called the New International Version. Word for Word, it’s almost identical. clinical. And guess what? Both drop the same 44 verses. The NIV drops 44 verses in their entirety and so does the Jehovah’s Witness Bible, the New World Translation. Both seem to attack the doctrine of hell. It’s interesting that obviously Satan doesn’t want you to believe in hell.
Way back in the book of Genesis when Eve was toying with the idea of the eating of the tree of the nose of good and evil. Satan said that you shall not surely die. And obviously that’s the denial of the penalty of sin which is ultimately hell to be separated from God forever and ever and ever. And Satan of course has told that lie ever since. That there is no hell. And the Bible of course certainly teaches it. In fact Christ spoke more about hell than he did about heaven because he didn’t want anyone to go there.
there. But we find that the NIV attempts to do away with the doctrine of hell. Isn’t that amazing? That Satan would go to that effort to do that. So some of your modern translations actually are a direct attack upon the deity of Christ, the Trinity, the planet of salvation, my faith alone, the doctrine of hell, and heaven, and so on and so on and so on. You really need to have your eyes open. That’s why I recommend this book so much.
It’s called New Age Bible Versions. And it will just absolutely curl your skin, I believe, as you begin to look and see how so many verses have been altered just enough to change the doctrine from what you’ve been taught all of your life. So you just can’t assume these new Bibles are there to give you a good, clear doctrine from the Bible. They are not. They actually, I believe, many of them destroy the doctrines of the Bible and you’ll be deceived.
For example, in the NIV, again, picking on that one, it tries to do away with the doctrine of Hell, and R. Laird Harris, who is one of the editors, says that Hell is nothing more than returning back to the dust of the ground to return to the grave. He doesn’t believe it’s a place of eternal punishment. It’s amazing how they then want to change the Bible to reflect their views about eternity rather than let the Bible speak for itself.
This is kind of scary and I really don’t want a Bible myself that would do that but a lot of people are buying these Bibles for whatever reason because others are using them because they’re considered popular but they don’t realize that they’re getting cheated as Satan certainly is working on these translations. Did you know that every one of these publishers out there want to have their own copyright in addition to the Bible. That’s why we have so many different ones.
And then they have the exclusive rights to print that Bible. And they’re all saying that they, of course, have the best Bible out there. And you really have to be careful that you don’t buy into I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and this is Bibleline and I hope that you will pay attention to what Bible you have. If you And if you need to get a copy of this book, we have a new age Bible version. It’s about 800 pages for gift of $20.
We can ship that out to you. By the way, we have some wonderful books on our resource center. We have the books by Clarence Larkin. He wrote his books around 1913, 1415, 1617, way back there about 100 years ago. He was an architect who got saved and used his architectural skills to draw these charts. The one book called Dispensational Truth has about a 160 charts in there and they are incredible. The book has chapters that explain things about the spirit world, about Satan, about demons, about the book of Revelation, the book of Daniel, how prophecy lays out and so many things that give you a real visual in your mind to see how the Bible kind of comes together and is literally fulfilled.
It’s one of my favorites, that’s for sure, but we have his book on dispensational truth, which is one of my favorite books. Also his book on Revelation, his book on Daniel, his book called Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth, his book on the Spirit World, and so on. We have his book on the Second Coming and these are all great books and we stock them here at our resource that you can call. What are that? We can ship it right out to you and you’ll find that very helpful.
Plus, we have the Schofield Reference Bible, which I believe the notes are going to help you with any problems that have been discovered over the past 400 years with the King James. It resolves them quickly and easily in the center column margin or in the footnotes at the bottom of the page. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re going to go to the phone lines here in just a minute. The phone number is 1-800-576-3-8. 3, 7, 7, 1, 800, 5, 7, 6, 3, 7, 7, 1.
Okay, we have here Ray, and we don’t know where he’s calling in from, but he leaves this off-air question. He says, why do you put the teaching of Paul in Ephesians above the teaching of Christ? You say that following the golden rule isn’t that important because by grace are you saved through faith and so on. It seems to me, Ray, that you’re implying that we’re saved by works. And I have never said that the writings of Paul supersede the writings of Christ, but all the Bible is inspired of God.
And the Bible says in 2 Timothy 3, 16, profitable for number one doctrine and for reproof or correction for instruction and righteousness, it completely equips the believer to do the job that God would have us to do here. So if you’re trying to say that the law and the teachings of the prophets, as you seem to say here, are summarized in the golden rule and that’s what we have to keep or do to be saved, then you’re really clearly wrong because we are not saved by keeping the commandments.
We’re not saved by the golden rule. We’re saved by Christ, death and shed blood. Have you missed that somehow? When Jesus died and shed his blood, that is the means by which he purchased your salvation in mind. It was his substitutionary death at the cross that is alone the only means of a person’s being forgiven or saved. Second Corinthians 521 says that God made Christ to be sinned for us, Christ who knew do know sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
So we learn here in that wonderful verse that Christ was sinless, but God took your sin and mine and laid our sins on Christ at the cross. He paid for them in full by his death and shed blood, was buried in rose again from the dead. When you trust that he did that for you, God saved you and he saved you eternally. You can keep the golden rule and still go to hell. You can try to keep the commandments and still go to hell.
The Bible says when you get to Romans chapter 3 at the end of the chapter, it summarizes the first three chapters of the book of Romans. And Ray, guess what it says? Therefore we conclude. That’s a summary. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of Allah. And that is certainly true. And Jesus never said that anybody was saved by keeping the law. Jesus said, let me give you a great quote, John 3 16.
Jesus said, God’s the love of the world and he gave his only begotten son. Not the golden rule, that whosoever believe it in him should not perish but have everlasting life. And then Jesus says in John 3 36, it rather, it’s at 3 18, if you believe you’re not condemn, but if you don’t believe you’re condemned already because you have not believed or trusted Christ as your Savior. Thank you, Ray, for calling in. I hope I answered your question.
We’re now going to go to Patty, who leaves an offer a question from Tampa, and she says, please explain 1 Corinthians 1439. It says, do not forbid to speak in tongues. I thought speaking tongues no longer exists. My co-workers, church, speaks in tongues. How do I speak to her about this? Well, first of all, in On 1st Corinthians 1439, tongues was still operative. It didn’t cease until the end of the 1st century when the final book, the book of Revelation, was added to the Bible and the Scriptures were completed.
And of course, that’s when tongues ceased. But today, you might think your co-workers should speak in tongues, but they’re speaking in gibberish. No one. No one. Again no one on the planet today is speaking in tongues the biblical gift which was and is defined as a known foreign language that you acquire without any training whatsoever. It’s amazing to me that the people that claim they have the gift of tongues send their missionaries to language school before they send them out to the foreign field.
And I’ve had missionaries tell me when they get down to the jungle, they attempt to teach their, teach the people in the jungle the gibberish that they do back in the States. And he says the gibberish is the same thing the witch doctor has been teaching them to do for centuries and centuries and centuries. They make no progress. They go to all this work to go to language school to learn the language of the natives, come down here and teach them the same gibber that they’re already doing.
doing and it’s really craziness. The gibberish is not a gun and is by the way done by all the world religions. People in Buddhism, Islam and Confucianism and other Hinduism all speak in the gibberish and it’s true of the tribes in Africa, South America, Australia, Central America, the islands around the world. They do the same gibberish. It’s done in the Satanic seance. Is God giving it to these people? The cults do it. Mormons are big into doing the gibberish.
But nobody today is speaking in the genuine language of tongues. I would point out to your friend, can you understand or does anybody else understand this language? If you have the real gift, it ought to be a known language understood by somebody that is of that language group and it should be He used to witness to them and lead them to Christ. Let me quote, 1 Corinthians 14 verse 9 says, except he speak by the tongue words easy to be understood.
How shall it be known when it’s spoken? He simply speaks into the air. So obviously you’re just wasting your breath unless you’re speaking words easily understood by the here. Number 2, tongues was to be used for evangelism. I’ve never met the first person yet that told me they lived as someone to Christ in the gift of tongues. The first grant is 1422 says, Tongs are for a sign, not to those that believe, but to those that believe not. So Tongs are for reaching unbelievers, not believers.
Guess what? I have challenged hundreds over the years to get in my car and go with me. We’ll get a crowd and I want to see it demonstrated. I said, if you’ve got the real gift, I’m excited. Let’s try it out. Let’s go to the mall. get a crowd together. If I have to freak out, I can get a crowd. I guarantee you. And then I’ll introduce you. You speak to your gibberish. And if you’ve got the real gift, revival will take place because it’s assigned to unbelievers.
And we’re going to have a great time and I’ll buy you a steak dinner afterward. Do you know that no one, not one person has ever gotten in my car with me. And I’ve invited hundreds to do exactly what we’re talking about right now and not one person wants to use this thing out in public. They know that people will think they’re crazy. That’s exactly the way the world sees it and yet the real gift was assigned unbelievers. Well I hope that helps a little bit and I hope you’ll patty be able to use that with your friends.
And we have a couple of CDs I’ve done on this where we cover all the tongues passages. We’ve also got a great book by Merle Unger called the new testament teaching on tongues this is an exciting book written by the author of uh… many books the ugres bible dictionary and uh… his commentaries on many things are some of the best in the world we’re now going to go to noelle and clear water and noelle welcome to buy one year on the air thank you morning dr lynch on good morning Yeah, my understanding of tongue is that the people from other languages were able to hear a message in their language.
So is it that? Well, they heard it in their language because the person speaking was given the gift of that language. So at Pentecost, what happened was that when the gift was given, they spoke in these different languages as an Greek word is dialectos, which means not only a specific Gentile language, but it was a specific dialect of that language. Just as in English, there’s lots of different dialects. Let me just say quickly, goodbye to Miami. Thank you all for listening today.
I know you go off the air before our other stations. And join us again tomorrow, and if you could help by the line, certainly call us and tell us you will support us. That would be great. We could use your help. Alright, back to Noel, and we find that in English, if you go to Georgia, they speak one brand of English, if you go to the Carolinas, it’s another brand, if you go up into Tennessee or over to New York or Boston, every one of these have a different dialect of English.
The biblical gift was to speak in a specific dialect where the person hearing had been born and raised, and that’s what it says in Acts 2, 8. This is how here we, every man, and our own dialect wherein we were born and raised. That was the miracle of Pentecost in the gift of times of ceased. Thank you, thank you because that’s what I looked at and I see that way to that it was a special gift for a special time.
So these people I was from Boston, New York, what we were all able to hear in a one-language. Amen. Thank you so much and appreciate that call. We now have Peter in Palm Harbor. Peter, welcome to Bibleline Newer on the Air. Hi, Pastor Hank. Can you comment on Loop 962? I understand it has nothing to do with salvation. I’ll give a shot here. That’s Peter in the Palm Harbor, Luke, chapter 9 verse 62 and Just one page away. I might have to hold this after the break because I’m coming up here on the break so Peter hold on and I’ll answer that question as soon as I get back from the break This is Bible and we’re gonna have to go to break and again Let me remind you that today if you want to go to Israel You really ought to make a decision today.
Call me and we’ll help you with that and we’ll get you going with us Also, Bible I was just supported if you could help us That we’re to share that we’d stay on the air in your area And also of course some of the books we mentioned today You might want to get called in and order them and we’ll ship them right out to you We’re gonna take a short break we’ll come right back and do the second half hour of Bibleline.
So Don’t change that now. We’ll be right back Don’t go away Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Hi, I’m Dr. England Sherman. This is Bibleline and it’s great to be with you every day. We enjoy it. And I hope you enjoy Bibleline as well. And we hope that you’ll tune us in every day and tell your friends about the Bibleline program. And hopefully take advantage of the Internet as well. as well.
Where you see that our programs are there in our time and you can go back as often as you like time and time again. There are really a whole years where the programs there. Plus, if you go to the camera and click on that, you’ll get our worship services for a full year. It’s amazing to me that we have got a whole year sitting up there for you. And by the way, you can order CDs of the radio program or of our worship services and also now DVDs of the worship services of the classes that we’re offering.
We’re studying right now first Peter on Tuesday nights and the CDs and the DVDs are available and the whole class when we finish in three more weeks will be a complete set that you can order. The last class that we did was the gospel of John and that’s 18 class hours but actually my classes run a little over an hour and so it’s really a total of 20 hours of teaching on John. That’s right if you multiply an hour and five minutes times 18 you’ll find that you get over 20 hours of teaching and you’ll find that is one of the best series that I think we’ve done.
We also have the book of Revelation, the book of Daniel, the book of Jude, the book of Romans, the book of Hebrews and so many more and we invite you to get some of these and you’ll find that it will be a quick way to really digest the word of God. Verse by verse as we just work our way through the books and explain even the very difficult passages which many commentaries will just skip. I used to be so disappointed as a new believer.
I invest hard-earned money as a college student to buy some commentaries and when I had a difficult verse to deal with. They skipped it. They didn’t even say anything about it. Again, I’d have you go to Israel with me. You need to make their mind up probably today. The airline will no longer hold the seats for me beyond today, although you can still go if they haven’t sold that ticket. So why don’t you secure it today and you’ll be on the trip with me for sure.
We’ve got several people that are saying that they should know today whether they’re able to actually do it and that’ll allow them to secure it. Don’t forget to check out our Resource Center online or come by if you’re in the area and visit us during the day and take a look at what we’ve got. I think you’ll enjoy that. We’re about ready to go back to our stations that have been on break and we hope that you’ll tune in now to the second half hour of Bibleline as we rejoin the stations that have been on break.
So don’t change your now. Stay right where you are and we’re going to do a second half of Bibleline right now. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. All right, we’re back for now breaking. This is Pipeline. We’re excited about being with you today. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church, and we invite you to tune us in each and every day.
Today is Wednesday. If you’re in the local area, you’re welcome to come out to our prayer service tonight. We have the O’wanna Youth Program here for the teens and children that are in kindergarten and on up. We also have on Sunday worship services. You can attend the classes that I teach on Tuesday nights now. You’re welcome to do all of that. If you ever fly into Tampa, we’re right next to the airport. And we hope that you’ll come right on over and knock on our door and say, Hi, while you’re in the area.
And I hope you will do that. We’re living for Israel. And again, today is the day you really need to make that decision to reserve your seat because the plane will no longer hold the seats for me beyond today. That doesn’t mean you couldn’t go. If they don’t sell it, you can still get it later. But I wouldn’t gamble much after today. We might have to put you on a hot air balloon and float you over there and meet up with you in Israel.
But to be on the flight, what does you need to call us today? We’re going to go now to the phone lines and we have a cell call. So I’ll take you right now and we’ll go back to Peter’s question. Tom in Scranton, Pennsylvania and Tom we welcome you to the broadcast. Welcome to my blend. Tom, hey Tom, you’re on the air. When Peter, he was one man speaking to many diverse groups and being understood by each different group.
One man, it wasn’t like he was speaking in the different languages. He was speaking and everybody understood him. Am I correct? No, I don’t think everybody has to do, but he was talking to a Jewish audience there and they all understood that Hebrew if he spoke in Hebrew I’m not too sure what he spoke in but basically all the disciples and All those that were there at Pentecost 120 of them had the different tongues and I think it was more an individual witness Because it doesn’t say that they all respond to three thousand people God saved not all to the preaching of Peter but to the personal witness that followed up that message as 120 people were out there witnessing and they led 3000 people to Christ that day.
Right, but that wasn’t the description’s challenge that he was understood by people from different countries. Absolutely, there were 16 countries that are listed there by name, but again it was not a gift of hearing, it was a gift of speaking. The gift of tongues is really a gift of a specific language. I think that if you were to walk over to somebody like Plains, Georgia, if you were to apostle, you would be given the gift to speak in that particular dialect of English that is unique to Plains, Georgia.
You might remember when harder was President. who used to tease about that unique brand of English that they spoke there, he and his brother. So I hope that helps here. I think that’s what it was going on. It says, how here we, in the very language or dialect in which we were born and raised, and it was not a gift of hearing, it was a gift of a language given. So it was the ones who spoke in the language of those people.
That gift is gone. 1 Corinthians chapter 13, 8 through 10 says that when the New Testament record was completed, that gift would be gone, the gift of knowledge would be gone, the gift of prophecy would be gone, so we don’t have any prophets right now, we don’t have the gift of knowledge right now, and we don’t have the gift of tongues right now. We believe all three of those would cease when it says there would not, which is perfect, just kind of what you believe is the Scripture.
No, no, I understand that. I’m on your side with that. I think what we have there is he was speaking to the leaders of Israel and he being a Jew spoke to them in their language and that was the leadership. But I think when he finished that all 120 that received the Holy Spirit of Pentecost began to speak in these different dialects with the people that were there and actually did the evangelism that took place that led all these to Christ.
Okay, we have Peter that told in earlier and he’s asking about Luke 962 and Jesus said, No man having put his hand to the plow and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God. This is talking about discipleship, it’s talking about the Christian life, it’s talking about serving the Lord and I don’t think we have farmers anymore so this verse is not really understood well. But if you’re going to be a farmer, you have to keep your eye at a distant point as you plow the field to have a straight row.
you want to go over and make an other straight road next to that and so on and so on. And basically if you look back while you’re cutting that road you’re going to go off course. And obviously you’re going to mess up the whole road that we’ll put the seed in and plant the crops. And so basically you’re saying you need to be fired. You’re not fit to serve. And so there are those who are Christians who are not focused, not heading with their eyes on the ward, and they’re looking over their shoulder, they’re looking back, and they’re going all over the place.
They’re not consistent, they’re not faithful, they’re not doing the job they need to do every day. And God says they’re simply not fit to be used. They’re not talking about that they wouldn’t be saved, but they’re not fit for service in being used by God to win people to Christ and live for Him as His representatives here in this world. So if you want to be used of God, you need to be focused like a person who is plowing those straight rows out there in the field and you can’t be looking over your shoulder after looking straight ahead.
Same thing with driving your car. If you’re looking out the window while you’re going straight down or looking at your cell phone in your lap or you’re distracted in the other way, you’re going to have a crash most likely. And that is one of the reasons why people have car crashes is that they’re not paying attention to what’s going on in front of them and you need to do that and that’s what this verse is saying. Thank you Peter.
Hope that answered the question for you. We have a call now from Daytona Beach, Florida. We have Robert on a cell phone and so Robert, welcome to Bibleline we’re glad you’re able to listen over there in Daytona Beach, Florida. Hello. Hi. I was just saying, if you were mentioning John 3 16, I don’t understand how if there is a God, how he could, I just, I just can’t believe that there’s a God and there you go. Well, I have to agree with you.
That is really difficult to comprehend. And the Bible says that he does though. He loved us in spite of our sin and in spite of our shortcomings. He knew that when Adam and Eve took that fruit, it would bring all that you just mentioned. And in spite of that, God loved us and provided a sacrifice that would satisfy his justice. He could not, as a just God, allow any of us to enter heaven because of our sin, but he himself became the substance of Jesus Christ who is God in flesh, took our sins, and paid for all of them past, present, and future by his death on the cross, and satisfied God’s justice so that in his mercy and love he could extend eternal life to all who would believe on Christ.
And I don’t know that we’ll ever fully understand that until we’re in heaven, but it is obviously why it’s called good news word gospel means good news and this is good news that god does love us because uh… if he hadn’t provided price to be didn’t love us we don’t know well i’ve heard that all my life and i just cannot comprehend it and i find it very difficult well you’re most welcome thank you for going in uh… that very definitely though the whole world is going to be judge one day as the one and i think trusted christ as their savior John 3 18 Jesus said if you believe on Christ you are not condemned, but he the believeth not He is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name and only begun instead of God.
So there’s only two groups in eternity, those that have accepted Christ and are saved by trusting in His death and shed blood and those that reject Christ and will be forever lost and separated from God because they did not trust in the Savior that God provided. So it’s hard to believe that God could love us as you say. The human race is pretty rotten. And we sometimes, especially lately, can see how bad it’s gotten. But the Lord is about ready to come back.
And he’s going to, obviously, snatch out all the believers that he gives people seven more years to get saved during the tribulation. But then if you’re not a believer, he will destroy all unbelievers on the face of the whole earth. And the Bible says only those that remain that are believers will enter into the thousand year kingdom of Christ. We have now a caller from Richmond, Virginia. We have Tony on the line, and Tony, welcome to Bible Light. Now, some like Tarzan there, and swinging from the vine in the jungle.
I know you’re an excited Christian, and you’ve called before. You definitely left a mark on our program today. Thank you. I don’t mean to be but you know sometimes I get excited. I was just listening to God and love this type of word. God doesn’t have love. He is love. And Jesus loves me just the way I am and he loves me more so than he doesn’t want me to stay that way. Questions and comments. One is, they’ve been talking about the tongues.
And I heard this silly teaching one time that speaking and groanings which cannot be uttered, the person said that the translator got that wrong and they meant to say, cannot be uttered with articulate speech. They tie that to when Jesus was groaning in his spirit. And they tie that to, those are the three things I just want you to clarify, those three type of scriptures. And I want to say that you mentioned yesterday on the the Bible and doesn’t just reveal it to everyone.
That sure is. Tony, well, the answer is here that this whole thing about a secret prayer language is nonsense. There’s nowhere in the Bible that tells you that you have to have a secret prayer language to be able to pray to God. This is crazy. The synagogue understands English if you’re here in the U.S. of A and you can pray in English and nowhere did Christ ever teach his disciples to garble and do gibberish in order to speak to him or to God the Father.
It’s just not biblical. This is totally a made up thing to explain the gibberish that’s going on out there. The Bible very clearly, everywhere talks about tongues as being a known language that is understood. And it says, and I quote that verse again that I quoted earlier, 1 Corinthians 14, 9 says, except you speak by the tongue, words easy to be understood. How shall we know what is spoken you just speak into the ear? So it should be words easily understood.
The gibberish reminds me when I was a kid and we’d get the cereal box and had that secret Dakota ring in there. And if you and your friends had that secret Dakota ring, you could communicate with each and nobody else would know what you’re talking about. And to try to say that we’re like going in the cereal box and getting out this little toy so we can talk to God as nonsense, that is not biblical. There’s no verse to support that.
And when Christ was groaning, that had to do with agony. He was hurting the agony of knowing that he was going to go to the cross and suffer and die for you and me and that he would be made sin for us. This one who it absolutely was sinless was a great, brought great. pain and agony so much so that it says there these sweat drops of blood. I don’t think you have any pentecal friends that are sweating drops of blood when they do their prayer language.
This was not prayer. That was pure pain and Christ suffered such that His paralytic capillaries in His sweat glands burst and blood came out with His sweat mingled together. medical doctors say this is a rare thing but… Thank you so much and we now have Richard and Indiana calling in, leaving all fair questions. He says, I do not know of any accounts of people saying that their gods are born of virgins prior to AD 300. Can you comment? Well, the Babylonian mystery religion, which is referred to in Revelation 17, takes us all the way back to Genesis chapter 10 and the Tower of Babel and the mystery religion that began way back then.
We have a book in our resource center here called Two Babylons that will trace that ancient system, the counterfeit of Christianity, all the way back then. Apparently, Simoramas, the wife of Nimrod, had a virgin-born son. I don’t believe that he was virgin-born, but this is the counterfeit of Jesus that Satan came up with, that that system is around, even to this very day. It was the worship of a mother and her son. And when you go to Egypt, it was Isis and Horus.
When you go to Italy, it was Venus and Cupid. When you go to Greece it was Aphrodite and Urus, and when you go to Israel in the land of the Philistines and so on it was Astroth and Baal. And when Constantine came along in the 4th century and declared the world a be Christian, the names changed again. Now it is Mary and Jesus, the same cult system. And you find that Jesus is usually silent, that the woman is superior, and Jesus the spokesperson.
And you see that today where Mary is to be prayed to, adored, worshiped, and so on. And that Jesus is always a baby in her arms or a 12 year old by her side, and they never allowed Jesus to grow up. He’s always kept in that form, but Mary is superior to him. This is that false system and it’s around at this very hour. We have Christopher in Holiday Florida and Christopher, welcome to Bibleline. Good. I’ve got a couple of questions.
The History Channel on cable is one of the show’s. One is called Ban from the Bible. I guess when they hit the first Bible conference and they deleted it, they had it. What text should be admitted to the first Bible or included in the first Bible? And they talk about a book of James. I guess James was… with jesus’s brother and there are other in the book of james that correct well it’s in the bible right after he was you find james okay but i guess with more in depth what i’ve been trying to say it that that it talked about uh…
jesus and he’s got a lesson here is in in pre pre-ordained years when he was a but uh… i don’t know that there is a book called the infancy of jesus and there’s lots of books that are not in the bible that are writings in those times but they were never written by an authentic spokesperson for God like an apostle or in the Old Testament of Prophet and also they were never accepted as being the Word of God at the time by the people who would read it.
All the books of the Bible that do belong in the Bible were accepted immediately upon having been written as God’s Word. Paul in fact says in the 1 Thessalonians he commends the people at Thessalonica. He said, because you receive my words as the words of God as they are indeed. Peter calls Paul’s writing scripture and vice versa. All these books written by the apostles were accepted as scripture on the get-go. Peter talks about it in 2 Peter 3 where he says that we are to be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the prophets in chapter 3 verse 3 of 2 Peter.
says that’s of course the Old Testament and then of us the apostles of Jesus Christ, that’s the New Testament and so we’re to be mindful of the attention to those words and at that council in the 4th century there was Constantine, they never decided which books would or would not be in the Bible. They simply affirmed that the books that had been accepted, the 66 books that we have, the 39 of the Old Testament, the 27 of the new, or indeed the word of God and no others should be added to that.
So they didn’t really… The only counsel where books were added to the Bible was in 1554, the Council of Trent, the Roman Catholic Church, added the inter-testimate books, the history between when the Old Testament prophets were cut off and when John the Baptist came along as the last Old Testament prophet, they added about 14 or 15 books to the Old Testament. But they don’t affect any doctrine. any doctor that would lose any sleepover but i think they made a serious mistake in adding them two thousand years late if they had been scripture they should have been received a scripture when they were written and that’s the rule uh…
for every book that is in the bible yes the not-the-good was your views on that well they’re crazy there uh… you know they make up all kinds of things that are just absolutely and untrue and contradict the bible the uh… Nausics talk about a secret knowledge or a hidden knowledge. You know the Bible says that the things have got a nutcap secret. He has revealed them to us in his word. And all these secret groups you got to watch out for them because that’s the way Satan works.
And I think that obviously those groups are wrong. The Gospel of the so-called Judas is one of those. There obviously his book completely contradicts the Bible, but Judas could not possibly have written it. He was written hundreds of years after Christ was here, not written by Judas. Judas didn’t have time to write a book. He betrayed the Lord and anyone out committed suicide. So he was a dead man and didn’t leave or write any books at all. And this is pure nonsense.
So the History Channel can really mess up your mind if you’re not careful. All right, we’re going to go down to a caller in Tampa. Gino is on the line. And Gino, welcome to Bibleline. you’re on the air uh… episode of uh… the d at the school on how to channel but the part of the public uh… and it was talking about the d at the school what are the d at the school and what do you have to do with the bible what what are the relationship with the bible and i’m a king of the business sir the d at the school’s are the oldest old testament manuscripts in existence in the world today Prior to the discovery in 1947 of the first scrolls, and I’ve been to Coomron numerous times and seen the cave that where they found these clay jars and discovered the first scrolls,
these up until the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest Old Testament manuscripts we had were dated around the 12th century A.D. When the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, they were carbon-14 dated back to about 200-300 years BC. That takes us back from 1280 to at least 200 years BC, 1400 years. Now that’s a considerable period of time, isn’t it? That’s about the same amount of time from Jesus to Columbus. Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492. And so a lot of things have transpired in 1400 years and what was interesting is that Christians were frightened as to what they might reveal that maybe we had a totally unreliable Bible and it might totally shatter our faith and the opposite was true.
They found out that the Bible has been accurately transmitted and the Bible we have today is right in line with the Bible of the time of the Qumran scrolls which were around two to 300 years before Christ. And I hope that helps with that question. We’re now going to go to, let’s see, we have Connie and Connie is in Lakeland, Florida. Connie, welcome to Bibleline. Dr. Yes. Oh, hi, sorry. Hi, I said earlier that you said that there’s 44 scriptures met from the NIV translation.
Now we have a quiz here that we can send to you that is a quiz on those 44 verses. It’s kind of fun to give to somebody. Tell them to take the quiz using their NIV Bible. We’ll get a zero because they won’t be able to find any of the verses that the questions are asked about. If you want one of those, call back and we’ll mail it to you free. It’s a lot of fun to give somebody with an NIV Bible.
Take this quiz and use your NIV Bible. come back with their scratching their head because they won’t find any answers from their end of the Bible because those verses just aren’t in their Bible. Okay, so what happens then, say a church is using just that translation, what does that mean then? It means they have a bad Bible and they really ought to get rid of it. The end of the is probably one of the worst translations out there and it’s a sad, sad commentary on preachers are, I guess, doing whatever is popular to do and they ride the wave of different fads that come along, but it’s certainly not of a reliable Bible at all.
Yes sir. So you say that the King James is so… Well the King James has this problem. It’s not without flaws but it’s been around long enough that all the flaws have been pointed out and worked out in almost any reference Bible will point out what the flaws were and how they’ve been corrected. Okay so I can get that quiz sent to me. You sure can call back in a few minutes when we finish the show here and we’ll send it right out.
Okay thank you. You’re very welcome. Thank you for calling in. We’ve got lots more callers. He’s sitting here waiting and I wanted to get him all, but we are right at the very end. We’re going to have to run. Let me remind you that Israel called me and will get you on this trip leaving February 25th. Also, we’re listening to support it. If you could help us, we are totally dependent upon you, the listener, to be on the air.
Could you give a gift today by credit card or call in and ask for an album to be sent with our address and mail a gift into Bible and could you do that? That would be greatly appreciated. Of course, join us again tomorrow and go to the Internet and catch this program again and again and others. Plus, if you go to the camera and click on it, you’ll get our worship services, audio and video. And you’ll, I think, really thoroughly enjoy those.
We have to run, but we’ll be back tomorrow, so I hope you’ll join me. And keep looking up. Jesus is coming, and I believe he’s coming real soon. So I hope I’ll meet you in the air if I don’t meet you before if you get a chance to come by and see me. Keep looking up, God bless, have a great day. I’ll be back tomorrow to join you again here on Bible Eye. You’ve been listening to Bible Eye, a presentation of Bible Eye Ministries of Tampa, Florida.
Your donation to Bible Eye makes it possible for this ministry to continue in your area. Bible Eye’s address is 4811 George Road, Tampa, Florida, 33634. or visit Bibleline Online at BibleLineMinistries.com. Be sure to tune in for another edition of Bibleline from Calvary Community Church of Tampa, Florida. Well, I’m Dr. England Sriman. It was fun being with you today here on Bibleline. And this one to tell you how much we appreciate you, the listeners, who are listening and calling in and telling your friends about the program.
And we hope that you’ll tell your friends overseas in another part of the country that if they go to the internet they’ll be able to catch this program. We’ve had correspondence by email from countries like Indonesia, from places like Singapore, from Dubai, and the United Arab Emirates. We had a lengthy letter this week coming in from East Africa, a pastor who writes in. And it’s exciting because not only from all over the country of the United States, but we’re particularly thrilled that we’re reaching out to people around the world.
When I was in Israel this past March, I met a wonderful group of people from Nigeria. Right into the hotel to join my evening Bible study, about 40 of them came. One of them stood up and said he listened to the Bible and every day in Nigeria. I was blown away. Isn’t that amazing? Here I traveled from the United States to Israel. He travels to Israel from Nigeria. And here we meet up. He’s a listener and I’m the guy here on Bible and wow.
And so God is using Bible and to reach out around the world and I don’t think we know the half of what is really happening with this program. If you have missionaries in another country, would you tell them about Bible and if you have relatives in another country, tell them about Bible and if you have men in the armed services or women, tell them about Bible and we know we have men and women in the military around the world that are gathering around their laptop and watching Bible and listening the Bible and on their laptops.
That’s exciting. Again, I’m leading for Israel. You need to call me today if you really are serious about this trip. We’ll go again, Lord willing. But this is about the deadline for the February 25th trip. Say yes today and we’ll get you on board and you’ll fly with us to Israel. Have a great time. Got a run, but we’ll be back tomorrow. I hope you’ll join me then as we are here Monday through Friday live here on Bible and tell them keep looking up and have a wonderful day and Timmy and again tomorrow here on Bible and God bless.
