Got a question? Dial toll free at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here’s the host of Bibleline, Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Well, good morning and welcome to Bibleline great to be with you. Thanks for tuning into the broadcast today. Love to have you come by. Our resource centers open every day till about 4.30 Eastern time. We also are open for you to come by on a worship day. If you want to come by on a Wednesday, that’s today. Or on a Sunday, you’re welcome to join us. In fact, this Sunday, we’re having celebration for moms for Mother’s Day. And we’re having a breakfast at 9 o’clock. And all moms go free. And you would be welcome to come and bring mom.
And we’ll celebrate Mother’s Day during the worship service as well. The third Sunday is coming up. The E-teeth will have a dinner as we normally do. Come for the worship service at 10.30. Bring your family, your Bible, your appetite. and join us for the service and then the dinner that will follow the lunch will have a great time of food and fellowship. And we’re having a baptism on the 18th of 3 in the afternoon. If you would like to be water baptized, then you don’t have a church that would be able to do that for you.
We’d be happy to include you in our baptism. Water baptism is a testimony of the believer who has trusted Jesus Christ as Savior of how they are cleansed and are sinned by the blood of Christ. We are not saved by water baptism if you were never water baptized, but yet you trusted Christ as your only hope of heaven. You would still be saved because you are cleansed by the blood of Christ, but water baptism is a testimony to that fact.
That fact. It is a wonderful thing that Christ has asked us to do. We invite you to be a part of that. Call and you can get information and get on the list and we hope that you will. We also want you to know we did finish now 2nd Peter that wonderful teaching and we hope that you will maybe get the CDs or the DVDs of that 10 hours of teaching and I hope that you’ll take advantage of just call and ask for the series on 2nd Peter, 10 hours of teaching.
We also did 1st Peter and you can also get that series on CD or DVD and also prior to that we did the Gospel of John 20 hours of teaching. We have about 40 different ones, and they’re all terrific. I believe that everybody who has gotten them has raved about how much help they’ve gotten in understanding their Bible by being able to listen to these CD series or watch them on DVD. By the way, if you get our internet site, BibleLineMinistries.org, BibleLineMinistries.org, you can catch our radio program right now, streamed to the internet live and you can go back and get it in archive and we have about two years with a program sitting there waiting for you to take a look at and download it.
I think you’ll enjoy that teacher on our website by blindministries.org. If you click on the camera you’ll get our worship services. There’s a year’s worth of sermons sitting there waiting for you to listen to and watch And also you can go to that particular site, the camera, on the homepage of our website, BibleLineMinistries.org. Click on the camera at 11 o’clock Sunday morning and you’ll get the service live. A few minutes after 11 when the message actually begins, the video and the audio will come up and you’ll be able to watch that, wherever you might be on the planet Earth.
When I was in Israel just a couple of months ago, I checked it out and I caught my own service over there in Israel. And you can do that from any country in the world. And that is truly exciting to be able to do that. And we get emails here. We just got one this week from India, from Kampala, Uganda, from Kenya, Africa, from the Far East. I mean, we’re getting them from all over the place. And we’re excited about God using the internet.
156 countries have logged on were on uh… apparently everybody on uh… Well, rather different countries from every continent except Antarctica have logged on to our website, which we’re very excited about. We hope that you will take advantage of that as well. You’re welcome to come by and see us, but if you can’t, you have the internet there and you can go to our website BibleLineMinistries.org and you can visit our worship services, you can visit our online bookstore, which is the same as our resource center, and you can check out our website.
our radio programs or television programs, everything is there so much that it’ll keep you busy for a long time. We’re going to go into the Bible for a little bit and then we’ll be calling, taking our collars. The phone number here, if you’d like to call in, is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. Many people teach wrongly that you must be water baptized to be saved. And amazingly, when they try to prove it from the Bible, many times they go to passages that are not even talking about water baptism.
One of the popular ones is in John chapter 3 in verse 5, where Jesus said, except the man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Well, Jesus here is not talking about water baptism. And what is interesting to me is that people who are indoctrinated with this water baptism being required for salvation read this verse wrong so often that they don’t seem to be able to read it correctly. I’ve had them tell me that water baptism is necessary for salvation.
I say, where in the Bible do you find that? They say, John 3, 5. I said, would you mind reading that verse to me? I’ll open my Bible and let them read it. And they’ll read it like this. Jesus answered, barely, barely. I say unto thee, except a man be baptized of water and of the Spirit. He cannot enter into the kingdom of God. I’ll say, would you read that again and read it a little more slowly? And they said, no problem.
Jesus answered, verily, verily, I say unto you, except a man who baptizes the water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. I’ll say, excuse me, this time would you read it more slowly and would you put your finger and stop at the word baptize for me? No problem, may say. Jesus answered fairly, fairly, I say unto you, except the man be, and all of a sudden they realize that the word baptize is not even in the verse, that the word is B-O-R-N born.
Isn’t there a tremendous difference between being born and being baptized? This is not talking about baptism. This is talking about a birth, a birth of water and a birth of the Spirit. And guess what? The birth of water is something that everybody has. When you come into this world, you are enclosed in a sack of water in your mother’s womb. When the water sack breaks, out you come and you are born into this world of the flesh. And you know the context demands that interpretation.
Look at the verse before it. Nicodemus said to Christ, how can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time where? Into his mother’s womb and be born. He’s clearly talking about the flesh birth, the water birth, the natural birth, where the water sack breaks and out you come. Nicket even says, can, how can a man when he’s old be born again? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb and be born?
So he obviously was thinking about another flesh birth, like the original one. And Christ says, no, he must be born of water, which is the flesh birth. And then you need a second birth which is the birth of the Spirit. And in verse 6, this other side of the verse, 5, it says again, it confirms that interpretation that says that which is born of the flesh is flesh, that’s the water birth, that’s the flesh birth, that’s the natural birth, that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
We’re talking about a totally different and new birth, a birth that is of the spirit, out of the flesh, but the birth of water here, being born of water, is the flesh birth. There’s no doubt about it. Verse 4 confirms that. Verse 6 confirms that. On either side you have the flesh birth being the water birth that verse 5 is talking about. And so Nicodemus already had the water birth, the flesh birth, the natural birth, and that’s That’s why Jesus says in verse 7.
The Bible note that I said unto thee, you must be born what? Again, you already had one birth, the water birth, the flesh birth, the natural birth. Nicodemus, you need now a second birth, a new birth. You must be born again. And that is the birth of the Spirit. The way to receive that is in John 3 16. Jesus is actually witnessing here the Nicodemus. And he says Nicodemus for God’s love the world. That means you. That God gave his only begotten son.
That’s the word Jesus Christ. That Nicodemus, that whosoever, if you Nicodemus, would believe or trust in Jesus, it says Nicodemus you would not perish, but Nicodemus you would have everlasting life. What a grand verse that all of us have benefited from this conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus where Jesus tells us how to be saved. You become born again when you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. We could go back to John 1 where we see that in John 1.12.
It says to as many as received Him. That is Jesus Christ. Salvation is not in what we do. It’s in receiving the person of Christ. Eternal life is not in an organization, a denomination, a set of rules or rituals. But eternal life is in the person of Jesus Himself. And it says as many as received Him to them gave He power or God gave authority to become the sons of God. To them that believe on His name, verse 13 says which were born, which were born.
If you leave out the middle part of the verse and go right to the end it says of God, which were born of God. The birth of God occurs when you receive Christ and the way you receive Christ according to John 1 12 is to believe on His name. The name Jesus comes from the Hebrew Yeshua and that means God who would save you. You see the word Yeshua is a combination of two words. God’s personal name Yahweh. It’s the four consonants which is God’s name YHWH pronounced with an A and an E between the two parts.
would be Y-A-H-W-E-H or Yahweh. And then another Hebrew word Yasha, Y-A-S-H-A, which means salvation, the two together Yeshua means God who would save you. Jesus is God in flesh who would save you. And when you believe that Jesus is God in flesh who would save you, that he went to the cross and paid for your sin by his death and said, Bud was buried in rose that God saves you and you are granted authority now for you to become his son.
You’re born of God.” Verse 13 says, this is not a birth of blood. So we’re not talking about a blood relationship. I’ve talked to people in the past and I’ve said, are you going to go to heaven when you die? And they’ll say, well, my uncle was a preacher. So that’s wonderful. I’m glad that you had an uncle that was a preacher. They think because they’re related to a preacher that maybe they’re on the inside track to get into heaven This has nothing to do with a blood relationship If your dad is a preacher doesn’t get you into heaven if your uncle’s a preacher that didn’t get you into heaven it doesn’t Get you in heaven because you must personally trust Jesus Christ as the one who died for you The next phrase here in verse 13 of John chapter 1 says nor is it a?
a birth of the will of the flesh. In other words, it’s not something that you can will to have happen. You might sit there and maybe concentrate and say, I want to go to heaven, I want to go to heaven, I want to go to heaven, I want to go to heaven, I want to go to heaven, and guess what? It can’t bring about the new birth and it will not get you to heaven and you’ll not go to heaven unless you receive Christ by trusting in His name.
that Jesus is Yeshua or God who would save you. God, it took on flesh. When you trust Him, the Bible says, then you become born again. Notice also it says here in John 1.13, this is not a birth that is the result of the will of man. There is no authority, no preacher, no rabbi, no minister that can decree salvation for you or for me, or offer the forgiveness of sins to you or me, accepting through the Gospel message and trusting Jesus Christ as Savior.
When I share the Gospel message and someone believes that message, God saves them. And the Bible says to as many as received Christ. God gave authority, power for them to become the sons of God, then it says to them that believe that means trust on his name that they trust that Jesus Christ is not Savior. And it says then which were born of God. They’re born of God. They’re born of God. They’re born of God. John 3 16 is Jesus explaining to Nicodemus how to be born again.
That is a new birth. It’s a spiritual birth. It is separate and different from the natural birth. If you are only born once, That is the physical flesh birth that we all have when we come into this world. Nicodemus already had it when Jesus had this conversation with Nicodemus in John 3. If you only have that when you’ll die twice. The Bible talks about physical death and the eternal death of being cast into the lake of fire as the consequences for our sin.
If you only born once, you would experience physical death and the eternal death, which according to Revelation 20, it says they were cast into the everlasting lake of fire. This is the second death. The first death, being the separation of your soul from your body, the second death, being the separation of your soul from God in hell forever. But if you’re born again, if you’re born twice, if you’re born of the flesh and then you are born of the Spirit by trusting Jesus Christ as your Savior, you will only die once.
The Bible tells us that the believer in Christ will not be hurt of the second death. The believer in Christ will not be hurt of the second death. In other words, the believer in Christ will never go to hell. It really is an eternal security point. The Bible says, if you have trusted Christ and you have been born again, you will never be hurt by the second death. never be cast into hell. All believers are exempted from hell. And guess what?
You may be in a group that will never die at all. You might be exempted from physical death as well. Those that are living when Christ comes back at the Rapture will never die even physically. So you might be in that group. I believe we’re close enough so that if you’re a believer right now, it could be that you won’t die physically. You’ll be just transformed as you You are caught up to meet the Lord in the air at the rapture and then be forever with the Lord and you’ll never be cast in the eternal lake of fire.
I’m Dr. Hank Vins from Mrs. Fyblind. We’re going to go to the phone lines if you’d like to call us. It’s 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. Give us a call. We certainly want to hear from you. So give us a call right now. We have Jimmy and Tampa Forley. He tells and leads us off our question. In Revelation 22, 18, it states that we are not to add or subtract from the word of God. With all of that translations, what about the people in the printing business that are printing all these Bibles?
Are they going to experience these plagues or their name being taken from the Book of Life? Well, actually, Jimmy is talking about in Revelation 22, verse 18 and 19 about the gospel message or the message presented in the Bible that is the message of Christ and his salvation that he offers through faith in him. If you add to what Christ has done or if you add to what is required of you to be saved then you will be lost.
It is not talking about somebody actually printing Bibles here. If you have a Bible that is faulty, then it could be that you’ll be misled and you’ll not really have the right answers. Let me just read to you an imaginary conversation from my Bible bookstore. The customer comes in and the sales clerk says, hello, may I help you? And the customer says, yes, I’m looking for a Bible I can use in my church. Could you help me? And the sales person says, I’d be happy to.
I’d like to recommend the NIV. It’s our most popular seller and the customer says, well do you know the story of the Ethiopian eunuch? And the salesperson says, well sure. So the customer says, well the only verse that tells us what we need to do before water baptism is in Acts 837. It’s really important that my Bible states this clearly. Would you read it to me? The salesperson says certainly and they help to employ looks and looks and finally says, it’s not here.
The customer says, what’s not here? He says, the sales person says, I’m sorry, but there is no verse 37. Let me just pause for a minute. The NIV drops 44 verses in their entirety and this is just one of them. Acts 837, the case of what happened to Acts 837? You’ll see verse 36, you’ll see verse 38, but you’ll not find 37 it’s gone along with 43 other verses. By the way, if you want our NIV quiz, we’ll send it out to you free of charge.
If you give somebody the NIV quiz and they have an NIV Bible and they take the Bible that they use the NIV and try to score on this quiz, they’ll get a zero. Because all the verses that the quiz is on are the verses that are missing from the NIV. So, they’ll get a zero. Boy, it is a wake-up call. Let’s continue with our conversation in the bookstore. So we have here the customer saying, well I don’t want a Bible that’s missing, something not important as I say 37.
Let’s try another Bible. The salesperson says, well we have another popular one. The revised standard version. And the customer says, well my Bible has to be clear about the virgin birth. Would you please check Isaiah 714 for me? The sales clerk looks it up and says, hmm. It says here a young woman shall conceive. The customer says, well, then, forget about the revised standard version. What other Bibles do you have? Well, we’re very proud of the new American Standard.
It’s the most literal version. Alright, the customer says, look up John 647. It’s the one place where Jesus tells us to believe on Him to have eternal life. The salesperson looks it up in the New American Standard. He looks up John 647 and he says, wait, it only says, he who believes has eternal life. It doesn’t say who to believe in. The customer says, well, my old occultic friends would love that. They believe not in Jesus. They believe, but they don’t believe in Jesus so much for the New American Standard version.
Let’s try once more. When I witness to Joe’s witnesses, I like to use Revelation 111, Jesus says I am the Alpha and the Omega the first and the last what Bible do you have left? Well the Salesperson says we have this new living translation Let’s look it up Huh? It says write down what you see no Alpha and Omega here The salesperson says all I see is is an American, an old American standard version. Would you look up 1 John 5’7?
It tells us the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit are one God. The salesman looks it up and he says, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. It says it is the Spirit that bears witness because the Spirit is true. There’s no Trinity in that verse. Well, the customer says, Well, I’m just going to stay with my Bible. It has everything that I mentioned to you. And the Salesforce says, what Bible is that? And he says, the King James. Anyway, that’s really amazing how the new translations have just departed severely.
And that’s really too bad. We’ve got to go to photo lines here and we have a collage from Oliver. We have Brian in Sarasota. Brian, welcome to Bibleline your On the Air. Thank you. Good morning. I have a general question which relates to history and I guess modern times. Generally, it’s believed that Jewish religion traditionally does not believe in Christ as the Son of God. And I’m wondering at what point did that happen? Were they throughout the years in the books and the teachings?
Didn’t they know that he performed miracles and walked amongst the people of the time? When did that all go south? uh… i think it happened right when christ came uh… The majority rejected Christ and crucified Him. And there was a small remnant that believed, and obviously there’s always been that remnant of Jewish believers. And technically, I think if you were to look at it carefully, that there have always been more Jews that believe on Christ than Gentiles if you go percentage-wise.
only about 30 million Jews in the world and there’s an additional 6 billion Gentiles. I have several Jewish believers in my church and obviously if you were to take the few believers I have that are Jewish and my church said versus the number of Gentiles I have that would mean that we’d have a lot more Jewish believers in the world and Gentiles and I think that’s the way it’s always been. I want to say goodbye to Miami. Miami, again, thank you for tuning in today.
I know that you cut off early before others. But I think that there’s always been a remnant of juice believers. And the problem is that they don’t read your Bible. The Jewish person is absolutely ignorant of their Bible, generally speaking. And I’m talking about even the rabbis. They don’t know their Bibles. They don’t read the Bible. They read books about the Bible. And that’s the tragedy that happens within Christianity, too, is that people are reading books about the Bible rather than reading the Bible.
And if you take them to the Bible, you can lead Jewish people to Christ. I’ve led many, many Jewish people to Christ. And they are able to be led to Christ. You just have to point out what the Scriptures teach you. and that the Messiah has come, he’s described in the Old Testament over 300 different locations as the one who would come and give his life and die be buried and rise again for the dead as the Savior. So Brian just don’t give up, keep working on Jewish people and telling them the wonderful story of the gospel.
Alright, the North Fine is still there and not but we have in Daniel you have Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who turned into the burning fiery furnace. And David can, as it comes up, and says, didn’t we sit a cast three into the furnace? I see four, and the fourth is like unto the Son of God. Here you have Jesus in the burning fiery furnace in Daniel. I mean, he’s all throughout the Old Testament. Psalm 2 talks about God begotten a son, which is, of course, Jesus.
Then you find Jesus throughout the Old Testament. Well, we’re going to have to come up on the end of this half hour and do our break. But again, pray for Bible and if you could give a gift to Bible and today it would be so helpful because we do depend upon our listeners to keep this program going in your area. So call and give a gift by credit card over the phone or call and ask for an offer to be sent mail a gift in.
We’re going to take a short break. I’ll be right back. I’m Dr. Anker, and I’m Dr. Anker, and Bible and we’ll continue after this short break. And we’ll come back and do another half hour. Take care. I’ll be right now. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. Well, I’m Dr. England. It’s great to be with you. Thank you so much for tuning in today. And we are going to do something unusual.
I’m going to go to Raquel in this period of time and say, Hi, and if we may have been answering your question right now, Raquel. Hi, I was wondering, just recently we had went to a birthday party and I was taking pictures and I noticed that a few of the pictures didn’t have anything on it, we can see the pictures of the kids. But then about the fourth or the fifth picture we can see big huge orbs and I had heard that those are angels, are they really angels, the orbs?
No, I don’t believe so at all. And we have to be careful. I don’t believe anybody sees any angels today. And if you saw an angel, they would not have wings. They would look just like humans. But angels in the Bible always appear as male, not female. So if the object is female or has wings, you definitely notice I’m an angel. But that’s something that people have come to believe through artists, I think, trying to make a distinction between angels and men.
but according to the bible angels are always uh… in the mail form and they do not have wings and you don’t have a lot and they will be mistaken for men because it looks just like them so i i would be careful not to go in the area i think you’re going into uh… since territory because he would like to get us to uh… go into the mystical into the uh… then into the unknown realms where he’s in charge so i would i would back off so the or No.
They’re on the pictures, they’re not fast. No. Okay, and that’s all I was wondering. Okay, and thanks for calling in from Lansing, Michigan, and thank you. Well, I’m Dr. Englund, sir, and we’re having fun being with you, and we usually don’t take calls during that break time that she was in a hurry. And we hope that you’ll call in when we come back from the break and did the second half hour at 1-800-576-3771. We have the wonderful specials in our resource center.
We have the commentaries by James and Posit Brown. We have the commentary by James Vernon McGee. Both of these retail for $150 to $200. We have them both for a gift of $100 each. The left page will have the English with the Scofill notes in English and the right page will have the Spanish text with the notes by Dr.
Scofill in Spanish. You might want to try to get one of those. Call and ask for a resource sheet or call and we can discuss it with you with the phone and tell you what you might want to get. Again, I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re going to return now to the stations who have been on break and do the second half hour Bibleline, so keep your A toon right where it is. Good morning, Pastor Hank. Good morning. May God bless you in the work that you are doing with this radio program. I have a question about God’s righteousness. I hear some preachers say that we will not become righteous until we get to heaven. But I thought that Jesus Christ is righteousness is imputed to us at the moment about belief. Well absolutely and you know those preachers are preaching works if they’re doing that. We are declared righteous at the moment of belief.
Corinthians 521 is one of my favorite verses that tell us what happened at the cross, that God made Christ to be sinned for us, Christ who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God and Him. When you trust Christ at that moment, you are declared righteous. Let me give you another one. That was 2 Corinthians 521. But also, Philippians 3-9 says, Be found in him and the last two words say by faith. Flip in 3-9.
Be found in him by faith. But the middle part of the verse says… Not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Jesus Christ, the righteousness, which is of God by faith. So when you place your trust in Christ, you receive the righteousness of God, which is by faith, and God sees you as a believer, as absolutely without sin, as though you had never sinned, because Christ’s righteousness is imputed to your account.
John, that’s that’s the answer. Yeah, and I don’t know why they they try and preach that I Think they might possibly not be saved. There’s amazing number of ministers in pulpits that do not know Jesus as their Savior they have and I’ve talked to many of these I had a friend of mine that was a pastor in Atlanta and he had another guy that he’d play tennis with a pastor of a large church in in Atlanta, Georgia. And my friend said to him, I heard you at the PTA meeting the other night pray, and you didn’t close in the name of Jesus Christ.
Is there a reason? And he said, I don’t believe any of that stuff. He said, this is just a job for me. It’s a profession. And he was ever so shocked to find out his friend could test that on a tennis court. There are many ministers who do not believe the Bible, do not believe in Jesus Christ. and they obviously are really deceiving people being in the pulpit that way and some of them they just don’t know any better they just don’t save themselves and they have no message for anybody else and they believe like most lost people do you have to work your way to heaven uh…
this came from a Baptist minister and i was shocked to hear it well uh… there are some baptist ministers that may not be saved as well i’d i don’t keep the lands with a life but Obviously unless they teach that Jesus paid it all and there’s nothing for us to pay that Christ did not pay for, that Christ paid it all at the cross and when we trust Him we have become saved at that moment. They’re missing what the Bible is teaching and obviously misleading people whether they’re saved or lost.
It’s sad that that would happen but I was raised in church for 18 years and never got the gospel so I can understand how that could happen. Yes, and I ask him please, Grant Jeffrey, what is it that you noticed about him? He’s a post-tribulation rapper. He believes the church has to go through the tribulation. I like him a lot. And I think he’s a good researcher, a good writer. But as far as he puts the church through the tribulation, I believe he’ll rapture it out and don’t go through it at all.
I think I heard him a couple weeks back and he was preaching on the Rapture and saying that the Turks will not go through it. Well, I’m mistaken that that’s the case, but I don’t quote me for sure on that. I thought that’s what I heard him saying. I’ll have to re-look it up and see if I can see what his nation is. But he does give out some good stuff. Oh, he really does. I’ve got a lot of his books and I’ve gleaned a lot of good stuff from Grand Jeffrey.
And you know what? I like you best of all. Well God bless you. Thank you, John. And thanks for calling in today. Keep up the work, my friend. All right. We have Adam in Tampa, Florida. Adam, welcome to Bibleline. And you are on the here. Adam? Oh, I’m good. I’m talking to Adam. Adam, are you there? Well, I think Adam went to sleep. Let’s just see what happens here. We’ll now go to Tony in Richmond, Virginia. Tony, welcome to Bibleline you’re on there.
Hey, my question is that is it possible for, like the caller earlier was talking about the minister that it hurts, is it possible for ministers to write books and to get out literature and do these things that are helpful to a Christian life but they are not safe, Is that possible? And is it possible for the minister who believes that we’re not going to be ratchered out, but that we’re going to go through tribulation? Is it possible for that person?
Is it possible that that person is safe? but they’re understanding what they’re reading. I’m going to hang up and just look near comments. I think you know what, I’m coming from all of this stuff. I think that’s entirely possible, sure. There’s a lot of Christian so-called speakers that are motivational, but yet yet are very helpful but they don’t have I believe the gospel. Joel Olstein, for example, when he was interviewed on the Larry King Live Show, went asked about whether people that didn’t believe in Christ were going to hell.
He said, I don’t know. He said, does one have to believe in Christ to go to heaven? He said, I don’t know. He said, I don’t know about 20 times on that program when the believer ought to be able to say, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know. And so he’s very helpful in things about, He’s a great motivational type speaker, but I believe there’s no real gospel there and there’s no real Bible teaching there.
So you have to just evaluate what you’re getting if you’d like a motivational speaker, but you’re not looking for learning the Bible, then that’s the kind of program you’d go listen to. I think we have a lot of different preachers that are motivational speakers that can encourage you and lift you up in different areas of your life and be helpful to you but they’re not believers. And even the cults have many good things to say that you know Satan is very clever.
He mixes a little bit of poison in with a lot of good things so that you would be willing to take it. If I offered you a bottle of poison you probably wouldn’t take it but if I made a nice cake with chocolate icing on it and everything else and I stuck some poison in that cake. You’d probably eat the cake and die, but if I just offered you poison you wouldn’t take it. So the devil is clever to be able to do that.
He wraps up the poison of a false gospel in a nice cake like mixture that looks delicious and that’s what he did back in the garden. He tempted Eve with the beauty of the fruit and told him how delicious it would be and how it make them wise and and even bought into that and ate the fruit and obviously sinned and Adam also and it brought the sin upon the whole human race. Hope that helps a little bit. Thank you so very much.
And we’re now going to go to Lou in Tampa. Lou, welcome to Bibleline your own here. Dr. Hanks, I have a friend of mine that would like to ask you a question. Okay. Yes, sir. How you doing, Doug? Good. My question is, in Galatian chapter 5, down at the 17th birth, all we threw out for the flesh. Then the letter parts do these things, you’re not in a kingdom heaven. So you will elaborate on that and give us the information more about this.
I’m going to hang up the mission to you. OK, well, sure do that. In Galatians chapter 5, they’re talking about a believer living after the Spirit and having the fruit of the Spirit in his life, or living after the flesh and having the fruit of the flesh in his life. And it doesn’t say here that those that do those things will not go to heaven. It says those that do those things will not inherit the Kingdom of God to inherit eternal life, which is a gift.
You have to be born again and become a member of God’s family and then you become heirs of the inheritance and will be able to enter heaven. And if you notice verse 24 it says they that are Christ, that’s key. They that are Christ have crucified the flesh with the affections and the lusts. So if you’re a believer, if you are one of Christ, if you’re one of those that are born again, one of those that are saved, you have been crucified together with Christ.
Therefore you are seen by God as though you are righteous because your sins have been been paid for past, present, and future, but he’s warning the believer that if you still live after the flesh as a Christian, you’ll have those kinds of disastrous results in your Christian life. And he warns us to not try to think that we can get away with living after our flesh and not meet the results of it. It says in verse 7 of chapter 6, Don’t be deceived as a Christian.
is not mocked for whatsoever am am soeth, that shall he also reap. If you sow to the flesh, then you are going to reap of the flesh corruption. But if you sow to the Spirit, then you are going to have the consequences of things that will carry on into eternity forever and ever and ever. Whatever we do for Christ now, as we plant what things we want to have in our eternity, if we do things in the Spirit and in the direction that the Spirit of God who is the author of the Bible tells us to go, we’re going to have rewards in eternity forever.
That will be resulted of what we did here. And here Paul is writing to the believer, don’t do the things that He will cause the loss to go to hell, but if you have trusted Christ, you have been crucified with Him in Galatians 2.20. And again here in chapter 5 and verse 24. And therefore you are saved, but you can still have the consequences as far as fruit or rewards in your life that are resultant either from the flesh or from the Spirit.
I sure hope that helps. Thank you, Luke, for calling in with your friend. and uh… we hope that answers the question but what you’re saying you’re safe forever but you can still have some all the consequences in your life david after you say committed murder and adultery and he paid a price for that but he was still safe we’re now going to go to adam he’s uh… in tapha for and adam welcome to buy one year on the earth if you explain what the word i’m believer trust on christ means Absolutely, the Greek word for believe, and by the way it occurs over 100 times in just the Gospel of John, over 100 times in the Gospel of John alone.
And it comes from the Greek word piscuo, P-I-S-T-E-U-O, and it means to trust is the best one word definition to rely upon, to put your confidence in the rest your weight upon. So, a biblical belief is not a sense of facts which we do have to agree with the facts about Christ and what he has done and so on. But rather it is trust. I like to say it this way. Christ died. That is history. Christ died for me.
That is salvation. So in other words, when you believe the historical facts about Christ, that does not save you. You must trust that when Christ died on that cross He died to pay for your sins and that He was buried and then He rose again from the dead. And when a person does that, they become saved. So many people, and before I was saved, I really didn’t have a problem with His historical facts about Christ. I had been taught that He lived here on the earth, that He went to the cross and then He died for sins and He died to pay for the sins of the world and then He was buried and He rose again from the dead.
But I was not taught to trust Him. I didn’t learn until I was eighteen that it was his death that purchased my salvation. And if I would trust that Christ did that for me, I would be saved. And that was the difference. Did you explain what the difference between it resting here for render when people use the word surrender your life to Christ? Well, surrender your life is, I think, more about the Christian life. I think that’s where Romans 12-1 where it talks to Christians that we should, Paul pleads with This is Christians to yield our lives as a living sacrifice to surrender.
I think that has to do with the Christian life. But to rest our weight is just like I’m sitting in a chair right now and I’m resting my entire weight on this chair to hold me up off of the floor. And I’m not putting forth any effort at all. I’m just resting in the chair. And to be safe, you just fully rest your weight upon Christ as your only hope of reaching heaven and you don’t worry about anything else that you haven’t done or what you possibly might do, but you say Jesus did it all so I can just sit back and relax and your salvation is a done thing, it’s a completed thing, an accomplished thing, a finished thing and that’s what resting is.
Do I have time for another question? Go ahead. okay in roton on john twelve on the people are we’ve been upon branches we’re saying who is there a lot of data in the highest did they know what they were saying i thought that time and also is it legitimate for us to sing for the day sure the word of that i mean save now and they were saying uh… save now as he came down the slopes of the amount of all of they were appealing to christ in the science to bring about salvation at that point of course the religious leaders a few minutes later reject him and they plot to kill him and it was that week he went to the cross and died to pay for your sins and mine.
So what the crowd cried out for didn’t get accomplished that week because he did come to bring salvation. And Zachariah told about that very event how that he would come lonely and meek upon a donkey, upon the cold before he was asked bringing salvation. Christ brought it. They cried out, saved now, to the son of David, which was a messianic title, and it turned out that the religious leaders rejected him, and he did bring about salvation at that event.
Okay, so when they, and then one more question is in Act 1 when they picked the 12th disciple, were they, did you, in your opinion, do you want to wait and not do anything? Absolutely, Peter was out of order, should not have done that, and he caused grief for the Apostle Paul, all the rest of his ministry, as Paul had to defend his apostleship because of what Peter did. Many people bought into that as being Matthias being the one, but you don’t read about Matthias, not one more time after that Act 1.
Experience he was elected he was a nice guy I think you would have enjoyed meeting him or sitting down with him and and Talking with Matthias wonderful guy, but he was not the 12th apostle Paul was the one that got elected to replace tutors Thank you so much. Hey guy. Continue to bless you. All right. Thank you Adam and now we’re gonna go to Tony in Richmond, Virginia a different one that we had earlier today Tony. Welcome to Bibleline.
I Hey, Dr. Armstrong, can you explain the verse in Romans about confessing with your mouth? And could you explain the verse where Jesus says to me before men, I will confess you before my father. Hang up on this. Okay. In Romans 10-10, it tells us if we confess with our mouth for Lord Jesus, and believe in our heart the God of the region from the dead, that you’d be saved. In verse 10 I think it explains verse 9 it says with the heart or the mind really you believe it are made righteous.
But then it says confession is made unto salvation. The context on both sides of that verse talks about Christians witnessing and how that we confess Christ after we become saved and confess unto the salvation that we receive. And it says that message that brings about salvation that we confess is in our mouth. for a believer, it’s inside us. It’s the message that we’ve believed and embraced that we can share with others. And then it goes on to say, how can people be saved unless they hear?
And how can they hear unless somebody tells them? And then it says, how beautiful are the feet of those which bring this gospel to the lost? And that’s us, the ones that should be confessing Christ after we’re saved to the lost and leading people to Christ. So that’s the answer. And It’s not talking about audible confession being necessary for salvation. And if that were true, then all deaf mutes would automatically go to hell. They would not have a chance.
And so you’d just say, well, anybody who’s born as a deaf mute would automatically go to hell too bad, so sad. No chance for them. That’s not true. Obviously you can be saved by simply trusting Christ. And we know that in John’s gospel, chapter 12, it says many of the Pharisees, but they believed on him but they did not confess him because they didn’t want to be kicked out of the synagogue. And Jesus said about them. He says they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
So they were saved but they obviously didn’t confess Christ. They kept it a secret. Nicodemus was a secret believer. Nicodemus didn’t come out to later that he was a believer but Nicodemus came to Christ by night and he secretly believed on Christ as his Savior. The inner passage you’re making reverence to is in Matthew 10 and then it’s talking about rewards and is clearly in the context talking about disciples, those who are believers, who are to be witnessing for Christ.
And he says in verse 32 of Matthew chapter 10 in verse 32, who’s, however, therefore so confess me before men and when I confess also before by Father, which is in heaven, He’s never so denied me before men. You know, I also denied before my father, which is in heaven. I believe what it’s talking about, and you’ll see the word reward used five times right after that. It’s talking about rewards. If you confess Christ before men, Christ will confess that to the Father and He’s going to reward you.
The Father will hand you the rewards one day for your faithfulness. And you know, if you go back to the book of Job, it was God who bragged on Job’s works. God said, there’s nobody like Job. Job was an outstanding Christian. And he was bragging on him. And one day, God is going to reward you for whatever faithfulness you have had for him. But then it says, his whoever shall deny me before men, I’ll deny him. In other words, Christ cannot say to the Father, boy, this guy has been a wonderful Christian, he’s been faithful.
If you haven’t, he’s going to have to deny saying anything and therefore you’ll suffer the loss of reward. It’s not talking about salvation in Matthew 10. It’s talking about the topic of reward and he’s talking about us witnessing fearlessly, says in verse 28, fear not them which can kill the body but are not able to kill the soul. So we should be fearless realizing that they can kill our bodies but they can’t kill our soul. to be in the heaven with the Lord and whatever we’ve done for Christ will bring about rewards in eternity.
Tony, I hope that helps. And I think Tony’s gone. So thank you very much, Tony, from Richmond, Virginia to Tony, from Richmond today, calling in. We have very little time left, and I think so. We’re going to just probably not take any more callers today, but we’ll be back again tomorrow. And I hope you’ll be joining us. And then you can listen to this program again later today on the internet by going to BibleLineMinistries.org and clicking on that spinning globe and if you want to get the TV programs, click on the TV set and if you want to get the worship services, click on the camera and if you want to get the online bookstore, click on the online bookstore.
Again, let me just make it a peel here for Bible and we are needing your help. Our country is in a state of financial trouble or recession or whatever they’re saying. In any case, it is affecting Christian ministries as well and ours as well. And we definitely are counting on our listeners to keep us going in all our areas and we don’t want to cut back. And so we don’t want to lose the station anyplace. We do need your help right now.
So if you could help us, we appreciate that very, very much. We’re going to need you to help us out to keep this program rolling in every area. So if you want to help Bible and you can right now call and give a gift by credit card over the phone or call and ask for an Outlook to be sent and they’ll gift. We’re not really trying to get your money. We’re really trying to get the gospel out and we don’t pay any salaries here.
We are stretched out as far as we can, trusting that God will supply. And wonderfully He has done and I believe that God is going to reward you for your faithfulness and giving to Bible and because we’re reaching people. We’re seeing people come to know Christ all the time. I just saw a guy yesterday. He said, you led me to Christ. And as a result, my whole family is saved and my brothers and my sisters are saved. And he was just so excited.
And you know, we hear those stories all the time of people getting saved through Bible. And I hope you’ll help us out. Give us a call and of course, tune us again tomorrow. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming and we’ll be back here tomorrow. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline Ministries of Tampa, Florida. We’ve had another wonderful day. It’s Wednesday and we’ve been talking about the scriptures and answering people’s questions and hopefully it’s been helpful to you as well. As a believer today, we need to be alert. Our eyes open and observing what we’re being presented with and then comparing it with the scripture to find out whether it’s really a God or not.
The Bible warns about these days in which we’re living in. We just finished Second Peter, which is a great book, to equip you and me for the days in which we’re living in right now. Peter tells us that we should be mindful of the words spoken before by the prophets. That’s the Old Testament. And by us, the apostles, by commandment, the New Testament. We are to be aware of what this Bible teaches so that we can actually be able to observe what is being said or talked about and compare and see whether it’s really of a guide or not.
And we pray for lots of strong Christians, and we raise that poor for me when they’re Bible. So they’re able to discern what is truth and what is error, what is false and what is true and so on. And we offer that series over the air here. We have it on CD and DVD. You can purchase that by calling in our 800 number. We also have about 40 other series on different books of the Bible. If you’re struggling with a particular book that you’re studying, if you’re having to teach a class and you need help, a lot of people have a lot of trouble with the book of Hebrews.
We’ve got 10 hours of teaching on that where we go verse by verse and take on all the difficult passages and explain them and make them clear. I know it will really help you and I hope that you will take advantage of some of the series that we have here. We hope that you’ll pray for Bible and we need your financial help as well as your prayers that if you’d pray for us and if you could give a gift of Bible, it would really be helpful.
God bless all of you who do and will thank you in advance for your prayers and for your gifts. For all that you do that make Bibleline possible. God bless all of you and I hope that you’ll turn us in again tomorrow. We’ll be back for ten o’clock Eastern Standard Time and I hope that you’ll be listening. I’m Dr. Englund Stearman saying goodbye, but we’ll be back tomorrow. Listen to me. You’ve been listening to Bibleline. The presentation of Bibleline Ministries of Tampa, Florida.
