Welcome to Bibleline with Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Coming to you from Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida declaring God’s love through radio and television, providing real answers to an ever-searching world. Got a question? Dial toll free at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here’s the host of Bibleline, Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Well, good morning and welcome to Bibleline. I’m great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning into the broadcast. We look forward to being with you each and every day, Monday through Friday, as we come to you live from our studios here in Tampa, Florida at the Calvary Community Church.

This is Memorial Day and we want to certainly honor all of our war dead, those that are fucked for our country in past wars and of course, even more recently in Afghanistan and Iraq and other parts of the world. and our salute is to all of our veterans and their families and we pray it’ll be a great day. Good to have you on board with us today. We’re going to be talking about our Bible. We’ll be answering questions and you can call in that number is 1-800-576-3771 1-800-576-3771 and we hope you’ll check out the Internet.

We are streaming right now live to the internet. You can catch my program live right now by going to Bibleline Ministries.org and click on the spinning globe and you’ll get our radio programs right now live and also about two years worth in archive. And if you click on the TV set, you’ll get our TV programs. And if you click on the camera, you’ll get our worship service and that’s exciting that that we can reach out and we had people all over yesterday.

In fact, we had a family reunion up in the northern part of the country and they were going to all be gathered around a big, large screen TV and launch our worship service from this vacation lodge where they were. And we hope that they all enjoyed the Bibleline worship service there. You can catch it live, but also you can catch it in our archive. We have a year’s with the sermon sitting there waiting for you. I think you’ll find them very interesting and we hope you’ll take advantage.

We have our resource center on the internet as well. If you go to BibleLineMinistries.org, click on the online bookstore and there you can find all of our resources. We have the Scofield Bible in Spanish, in English, and we have the old Scofield, which is the one you want to get. If you go to the bookstores, you’ll get that new watered down hybrid, which you don’t want because some of the notes aren’t even by Dr. Schofield. They’ve been added and many of those I disagree with.

And then the old notes, they’ve watered them down. So if you go to the bookstore, you’re just going to get the wrong one because it’s hard to find anybody’s talking the old Schofield anymore. But that’s exactly what we have in our resource center. We also have the Jameson Foset Brown commentary. That’s my favorite. It has a comment on every verse of the Bible and we have it for a bargain price of $100 if you’d like to get that. It’s also one of those that you can count on when you have a difficult verse.

I know over the years I’ve always been surprised at how it comes through every time when there’s a difficult problem that commentary will give you an answer. By the way we have Also the Jay Vernon McGee commentary that’s a beautiful five volume set. Retail for about 200. We have it for gift of 100. You can also order that here from our Bible and Resource Center. We also have the systematic theology by Louis Perry Shaver, the founder of Galisteadogical Seminary.

Originally in eight volumes we now have it in four volumes and that one I think retails for about 180. We have it for also a gift of 100. So all of those are available one, each one for a gift of 100 to Bibleline and we can ship that out to you. We hope you’re going to have a wonderful day today, but we’re glad you’re tuned in to Bibleline right now. If you have a question, you’re welcome to call us and we’ll try to give you an answer.

We had a wonderful weekend. We had people getting saved which we seem to have every week which is wonderful. We’re just so thankful we pray for loss to be saved. And we pray that if you’re listening today and you’re not sure about your salvation that you would trust Jesus Christ as your Savior and receive the wonderful gift. A wonderful gift for you to be a part of your life. You know, our early explorers were always searching for the fountain of life where they could drink this water and live on and on and on.

And there’s lots of different places where they claim they’ve had it. I went over to St. Augustine, Florida and they have supposedly the fountain of life over there. I drank that water and it didn’t do any good. But you know, when you trust Jesus Christ as Savior, according to the Bible, He provides water that you would never thirst again. He supplies your needs forever and ever and ever by simply trusting in his death and shed blood as the only means of your salvation.

Amazingly, the majority of those who claim to be Christian are really trusting in themselves to get them to have an interesting and what they’re doing for God to be saved. And it’s not what we do for God, it’s what God did for us in Christ. God provided our salvation. It is His gift to us. Somebody the other day was talking to you and said, yeah, I gave my life to Christ. And I said, well, that’s wonderful, but that doesn’t save you.

You see, it’s God who gave Jesus’ life. God took on flesh and gave His life. For us, you giving your life to Christ won’t get you one inch closer to heaven. Well, I gave my life to Christ years ago. Well, isn’t that wonderful? That won’t get you to heaven. You can’t give anything to God, including your life, to get you to heaven. You have to trust that God gave His life in the person of Christ in order to pay for your sins.

How can people get it so backward? For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever what believeth in Him, that is, would trust in Christ that they would not perish but have everlasting life. One of my favorite verses is here in the book of Romans. It says in verse 10 in chapter 5 of Romans, for if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much for being reconciled we shall be saved by his life.

Christ died to pay for your sins and paid for them in their entirety past, present, and future. But not only that because he came back from the dead, because he’s alive forevermore, He can make good on the promise that he made to you. Nobody else can do that. You know, Muhammad can’t help you because he’s still dead. Buddha is not going to be able to help you because he’s still dead. Confucius can’t help you because he’s still dead. And on and on and on we could go.

They can’t help you. Jesus Christ left an empty tomb to let us know that he is gone. He’s risen. He’s alive. And because he’s alive, he can make good on the promise to save you. If you wanted to live forever, wouldn’t it make sense to talk to somebody who came back from the dead? It sounds like that would be reasonable. And Jesus says, I am he that was dead and yet I am alive forevermore. Christ came back from the dead.

He’s alive forevermore. And Christ died for all of our sins past, present and future. In fact, it says here in Romans chapter 5, Therefore, being justified by faith, we have present tense peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Actually, the tense should read here in Romans 5-1, therefore having been justified. This is something that took place in the past. We are to focus back on the cross of Calvary when God made the payment for your sin and mind.

And when we trust in that past payment that he made for our sins, it says we are already justified. And as a result, we have peace with God. We could be assured of going to heaven. We have eternal life, and it is a done deal. I am so glad I can share this good news with others. I was raised in church. I was confirmed. I was baptized. I was homogenized. I was pasteurized. I was capsized, I was Simonized, I mean if it was a process to be offered in my church, I experienced it all but I never was saved.

Nobody ever told me that my sins were all paid for, that all I had to do was receive that payment by trusting Jesus Christ as the one who died for me. Boy, the night I heard that I said, that’s good news. And I trusted Jesus Christ’s Savior at 18. That was the most important decision I’ve ever made in my life. My holy turn of Jesus is based upon that decision. You know, if you die without Christ, you’re in deep trouble.

The Bible talks about an eternal hell, a place where there is torment day and night forever and ever. The Bible says in Revelation 14 that those in hell will have no rest, day or night. Can you imagine? No rest, day nor night, forever and ever. I think that’s one of the worst things. If you can’t fall asleep and you’re definitely and you’re extremely tired, can you imagine what that’s like? You just can’t get to sleep. But at the same time, according to the Bible, you’ll be in torment and flame and fire day and night forever and ever, and there will be no rest day nor night in hell.

You won’t be able to say, hey, I want to take a break. Can I step out into an air-condition room and maybe cool off for a little bit and then I’ll go back. You can’t do that. There is no rest day or night. And it says in Revelation 14 that the smoke of their torment ascended up forever and ever and ever. It says in Revelation 20 verse 10, and they were tormented day and night forever and ever. Now I don’t like those words.

I didn’t write the Bible. I am not claiming that I had anything to do with writing the Bible. Obviously it was written long before ever came along, but that’s what the Bible teaches. And the Bible has never been wrong. And if a person who dies without Christ does not go to this hell that’s described in the Bible, it will be the first time the Bible has ever wrong. I don’t think I’d want to gamble with things like that. Boy, that’s why I plead with people to trust Jesus Christ as Savior, to recognize that as long as they’re trying to work their way to heaven and they’re trying to save themselves, they’ll not be saved because you, in order to be saved, you have to simply stop trying to save yourself and simply trust in the Savior Jesus to save you.

I love what Dr. M. Arda Hunt said many years ago, he was the founder of the Radio Bible class which still continues today with his grandson leading the organization MR. Dahan II or Marty Dahan. And MR. Dahan said, God will not save a man who is trying to be saved. That stopped me in my tracks. What? God will not save a man who’s trying to be saved? But he continued and he said, God will only save a man who who is trusting to be saved.

As long as you’re trying, working, climbing, putting forth your effort, you cannot be saved. You have to come to the place where you say, I cannot save myself. And you simply trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ that He paid it all. Because unless you’ve done that, you’ve never trusted Christ. You’ve never understood what it means to trust Christ as your Savior. You see, when you trust Him, it means it’s exclusively Christ that you’re trusting in nothing else.

You no longer are going to trust in anything that you’re doing. You’re trusting in Christ alone because He is sufficient to save you, eternally. He fully, completely paid your sin debt. I’m Dr. Englundstrom. This is Bibleline, and we’re excited about being with you today. You’re welcome to call in. The phone number is 1-800. 1-800-576-3771. AndServantWe’re going to go to the phone lines. Right now we have Jeffrey, and I think that’s the name. It’s in Clearwater, Florida, and Jeffrey, welcome to Bibleline.

You’re on the air. Are you there? Hello? Good morning. Good morning. You’re on the air. I have three questions for you if you don’t mind. Go ahead. First of all, I would like to know where it says in the Bible that we’re supposed to go to and praise God and everything on Sunday. I mean, Sunday instead of Saturday. Well, guess what? Jesus Christ died and was buried and he rose on what day of the week. He rose on a Sunday.

Then the first appearance to his disciples was on a Sunday. The second major appearance was on the eighth day. That was the following Sunday. This age in which we’re living right now began on a Sunday. Pentecost fell on a Sunday, it always does. And that was the beginning of the birthday of the church. And if you read through the book of Acts, they came together to worship on Sunday. And if you read the Epistles of Paul, they came together on the first day of the week to worship.

And so it’s clear that Christ we establish the worship day. The Bible tells us… In Colossians chapter 2 verse 16, let no man therefore judge you in respect of the new moon or the holy days of the holidays of the Old Testament or even of the Sabbath because Christ took them and nailed them to his cross and took them out of the way. So we’re not under the Sabbath. We’re under the first day of the week, the commemoration of the resurrection of Christ.

Number two, what’s the second question? The second question is, I would like to have a copy of that question there thing about the answers that you won’t find in the NIV. All right. Let me get you back to my operator in a minute and you can give him your addressable mail to you. Okay. And I would also like to just ask paper about the, how the resurrection was, how we should be having good, what do you call it Wednesday instead of Friday?

Okay. What day was Christ crucified on? We’ll send you that sheet as well. Okay, thank you very much. We’re so glad you called in today. Thank you so much. And the Sabbath was given to Israel, and we are not under the Old Testament law, and unless you’re Jewish, it really isn’t given to the Gentile at all. The Gentile age, which is the present age, which we’re living in, the church age began on Pentecost. That’s a Sunday. And let me just give you an interesting reference here while we’re talking about this, and then we’ll take our next caller.

But in Acts 20 you see the early church coming together and Paul preaches to the early church here and this is in Acts 20 and it says here in verse 7 of Acts 20 and upon the first day of the week when the disciples came together to break bread Paul preached unto them and And so we find here that the first day of the week was the day, and we hope that you’ll take a look at that verse. And so we’re going to go now to Dave in Plant City.

And Dave, welcome to Bibleline You, are on the air. Hello, Dave. I guess Dave is asleep. He’s not there right now, so we’ll pass on from Dave. Maybe he’ll call back and we’ll get with him. have another caller here and where are you from hello is this this is kabra from our gate okay wonderful good to have you today what can we do for you uh… i have a question uh… there’s a lot of controversy uh… going around on the internet and in churches uh…

as far as as women preachers in the pulpit women in the pulpit and uh… they get you this argument by i tell them you know god made adam first then he you know he’s within transgressions and was not to see but they told me dot will part of your spirit and your son’s and daughter will start the proper is that correct dr well uh… you are absolutely right on target but the passage of talking about is that jol 228 which is about uh…

their sons and daughters profics and so on And that’s really not fulfilled yet. That’s talking about the future at the Second Coming of Christ when he will pour out his Spirit upon all flesh. That’s the key word there. All. That means everybody right now. I could step out the door of the church here and go into the neighborhood across the street and I would venture to say that very few of those have the Holy Spirit, whereas during the millennium, everybody will have the Holy Spirit because when Christ comes back, he will slay all the unsaved on the earth.

and then everybody will have the Holy Spirit that will remain which are the same. And also it tells us there in verse 28 of Joel 2 that it would be afterward and that afterward is after according to Joel 2, the destruction of Russia at the Battle of Armageddon. And after Christ has returned and is actually ruling over the earth in Jerusalem in the following verses and then in verse 28 it says that that’s when he would pour out his spirit and put all flush.

None of this has happened yet and it’s not for the day. So women are not allowed to keep in the pulpit. That is great. First Timothy chapter 2 is where you want to go versus 10 to 15 and it tells us that women are not to usurp authority over the men but they’re to be silent in the church and they are not to be the main speakers. Now with permission from I believe the male leadership of the church, they can give testimony and they can sing and they can teach, but they are not allowed to be the leaders.

Okay. Thank you, Doc. You’re sure welcome. That was in first Timothy. We are, I think still have, all of our lines are lit up here. We have Dave, I think, let’s have a think. He’s back. Dave, are you there? Hello, Dave. Still not getting Dave. I don’t know what it’s going on with Dave. We’re now going to go to Bernard in Tampa, Florida. Bernard, welcome to Bibleline you’re on air. Hey, just a good knock. Yes, sir. Turn your radio down.

Oh, how you doing? Please, please turn your radio down because it’s loud running over the top of everything. Oh, I’m sorry. I thought I have two questions and I’m gonna turn my radio. I mean, I’m gonna get off the phone and listen. First question is now my belief and not my understanding is that the Holy Spirit seals you once you believe. That’s correct. You can use what? Fisions 113 and 14. Yeah, it says that. Yeah. And that’s what I believe.

But I have to say that. have a problem with some people that don’t believe that they think you have to work for the Holy Spirit. So could you explain that and also types in today’s church, how is types to be paid? I mean, give me some insight on types. Okay. All right. Yes sir. Thank you so much. The answer of course is in Ephesians 1, you cannot work to get the Holy Spirit. It says in John 7, even before Pentecost, even before the Holy Spirit was given, it tells us in John chapter 7, and these are the words of Jesus himself.

Jesus said, as he talked about the Holy Spirit coming, in the last day, it says here, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. He that believe it’s on me as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. What was he talking about? Well verse 39 tells us, this is John 739, but this spakey of the Holy Spirit which they that believe on him should receive.

For the Holy Spirit was not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified. But once Christ was given on the cross and died for our sins and came back from the dead on the day of Pentecost, fifty days after the resurrection, the Holy Spirit came to and dwell and believe in every believer for this entire age. And so when you trust Christ as a believer, you receive the Holy Spirit and you’re sealed until the day of redemption. It says in Ephesians 4.30 also that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit until we are in heaven.

So it’s wonderful, wonderful news and it is so exciting because the believer can know and be assured of their salvation from the very moment they trust Jesus Christ as Savior. And so the Holy Spirit is God and He comes to indwell in our bodies which become His temple. 1 Corinthians 6 verse 19 says, What? Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you which you have of God and you’re not your own?

Before we ought to live for God and glorify Him in our body and our spirit which are His. So as a believer you are in dwelt by the Holy Spirit, He involves in your body from the moment you believe you cannot work for the Holy Spirit or work for salvation. It is all God’s gift. I hope that helps and if I didn’t get it all just call me back and we’ll try to take a look at that again. We’re now going to go to Tony in Richmond, Virginia and Tony, welcome to my blend.

You are on the air. Try to have a new church yesterday. Come to me, all those who are bringing you a fine arrest. And the guy at the pastor used it for you could take on and off the yoke of Jesus, like take my yoke upon you. He said you could take it on and off. And I just immediately discerned the message. my question was why couldn’t I get up there, like raise my hand and stand up and say, hey, this is wrong.

But stay in the wrong way. Wait, wait, wait, because Peter and Paul, you think Peter and Paul, if they heard a false message, would it come quiet? I’m listening. Well, I’m not too sure that you’re here who was false. In John 11, 29, and 30, come into me all the way around heavy laden and I will give you rest. Then verse 29 and 30 are really talking about the Christian life, where it says, take my yoke upon you, that’s service.

And that can be taken off and put back on. As a believer, you have the choice whether you’re going to serve him or not serve him. And the yoke speaks about service where you put the yoke, what they put over the head of the oxen and the ropes that would steer the oxen and the ropes would go back to the plow or tie it to that yoke. And that has to do with service. And there he talks about a different kind of rest that is offered to the one who is serving.

So there is a rest there that comes under your soul. But the rest of salvation is in verse 28 by simply coming to Christ and He gives it to you. So He may not have been very clear in His presentation, but the yoke, it is true. You can put the yoke on and serve the Lord and then you can put it down and not serve him, but that doesn’t have anything to do with your salvation. Verse 28 is talking about salvation.

Verse 29 and 30 of Matthew 11 are talking about the Christian life and you have to be able to rightly divide and separate that out. Thank you, Tony. And again, we’re coming up on the end of the first half hour. We’ve got lots of callers and we’ll try to catch as many as we can today. And thank you for tuning in on this Memorial Day weekend. This is Bibleline. We can use your help. We are obviously totally listener supported.

And if you could help us this month, as the month of May is coming to a conclusion, you could call in and give a gift by a credit card today over the phone or call in and ask for an envelope to be sent. And you could mail your gift in. And we want to thank you in advance for your prayers and your gifts that make the pipeline possible. God bless you. Thank you. Thank you very much, because you’re the ones who keep this program going.

We’re going to do a second half hour, so we hope you can stay tuned with us for the next half hour. And if not, you can go to the internet and come back and catch this full program later today. And of course, for the next year or two, it’ll be sitting there ready for you to listen to. And you can download it for the MP3 for your iPod and all that’s free. And you can just take advantage of our website, BibleLineMinistries.org.

We’ll be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-8. 800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alright, I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and it’s great to be with you again. Thank you for tuning into the broadcast today. And again, we want to say we would like to honor and salute all of our veterans today and for all those who have given their lives for our country.

country. We certainly want to salute them as well. God bless our country and our soldiers that are keeping us free. And we thank God for those who are in the armed services who are defending our country today. And we pray that this will be a special day where we can just take time to reflect upon the price paid by our soldiers who kept America free. We We are coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church and we hope that you’re enjoying your Memorial Day weekend and we hope you’re enjoying Bible on.

And thank you for tuning in today. Again, we want you to know we’re thinking about a trip to Israel coming up February 18 is when we will leave if you’re going on the option and otherwise we would leave on the next Monday, the 23rd I think it is. And that would be just for a 10 day Israel trip. So it’s broken into two parts. A five day option which would include Egypt and Cairo. And it would also include a lot on the Red Sea and the Rock City of Petra in Jordan.

And then we would meet those who wanted to do just Israel only. And it would be a total of 15 days or you can do just the 10 day Israel. If you’re interested at all, please call us, get your name on our list and we’ll send your brochures as soon as we have them, we should have them shortly. Also we want you to know that we have now Bible and music for children some incredible CDs that will put your child, grandchild, nephew, nieces name on the CD and your child when they play it will hear their name recited about 45 times and it is so powerful to really aid you in attempting to lead your children to Christ.

This has such an incredible impact on my granddaughter. She’s just 30 months old. But I’m telling she loves these songs. She’s memorized them all. She wants to sing them. And she knows that God loves her because she hears her name. And here’s how God loves her. And John, Series 16 gave Jesus to die for her. It’s exciting. It’ll be very powerful. Just go to my website, Bibleinemistries.org. click on the online bookstore and on the right side of every page there’s a link that takes you to our Bible Live music.

You can sample these songs you can put in your child’s name and actually sample what it sounds like in order right on the internet site. We’re going to do Bible Live in the second half hour now so keep your radio right where it is and here we go. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. All right, we’re back from that break.

This is Bible and I’m Dr. Englisterman. It’s great to be with you today on this Memorial Day weekend. And again, we salute our troops and we salute our men and women that have given their lives for our country and Certainly we want to take time to salute them and remember them today Thank God for those who have kept us free and allowed the freedoms that our forefathers had established to continue to this hour. Well we have a lot of colors waiting to get up on the line.

We’ll try to take them in just a minute. What I’ve been mentioned to you, we’re still planning a trip for February 18th of next year. If you, if the Lord hasn’t raptured us out, I’m telling you the Lord’s coming I think is getting close. But we’re gonna try to go five days an option leaving on the 18th of February and then for those that want to do just Israel a 10-day trip to Israel. If you go with me for the whole thing, it will be a 15-day trip and we’ll leave on the 18th of February and we’ll go to Egypt, we’ll go to Cairo, we’ll see the Pyramids, the Cairo Museum, we’ll stay in the middle of Cairo on an island in the middle of the Nile River, quite a spectacular thing all by itself.

We’ll take a dinner cruise on the Nile, we’ll drive to a lot of beautiful city on the Red Sea, that’s Israel’s city, right there at a lot, Jordan and Israel and Egypt all touch. We’ll drive in to Jordan, we’ll go to the Rock City of Petra where the Jews will flee from the Antichrist during the tribulation period. We’ll come back and spend the night in a lot and then we’ll join all those that are coming just for the Israel portion as they will arrive in Israel.

We’ll all be together then for the rest of the trip, 10 days in Israel and we’ll have a wonderful time. I’d like to have you go. It’ll be trip number 16 for me and if you want to call, you can get on our list and we’ll We’ll send your brochures as we finalize that and we have it. We’re excited about being with you today and I thank you for tuning in. We had a wonderful weekend. We had people get saved again this weekend which is always a thrill for me.

And I hope if you’re listening today and you’re not saved, you’re not sure going to heaven that you listen very carefully and recognize that eternal life is a gift that God has purchased at the cross at great price. Jesus died and shed his blood so that you could be forgiven. And when you trust him in his death and shed blood is the only means of your salvation That Christ was then buried rose again from the dead God would save you and that has got to be the best news Anybody would ever hear in their life.

We’re now going to go to the phone lines and we have Wilder in Fort Myers, Florida and welcome to my blind you are on the air Yes, good to have you on the air today Yes, so I guess I had a question. Hello? I’m glad you’re listening. Go ahead. Yes. And I don’t know what I miss in this tool. I don’t know what, you know, the pastor, the person said about the Sabbath. He said this sub-us belongs to Jews, people, or the two, or the Old Testament.

Well, let me just clarify that for you. In Exodus chapter 31, if you have your Bible there, you might want to turn there. But it’s quite clear, if you read your Bible, that this was something that was given to Israel. If you turn back to Exodus 31, it says in verse 12, and the Lord’s back in the Moses saying, speak thou unto the children of Israel, saying, verily my Sabbath, you shall keep, for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord that does sanctify you.

So it’s clearly here, it’s a sign between God and Israel. This was what kept Israel separate from the nations, down through the years and kept them unique. Verse 17 says, It is a sign between me and the children of Israel. This is Exodus 31 verse 17. I’m reading from the Bible. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever. And we find that this was God giving this to Israel. And when God turned to the Gentiles, In this present age which began at Pentecost, he took the law which was given to Mount Sinai, and he nailed it to his cross, took it out of the way.

And now the new worship day is established by Christ as Sunday, as that’s the day when he came back from the dead. And that’s the day when this age began at Pentecost on the first day of the week. And this is the day that we celebrate, which is called the Lord’s Day, not the Sabbath. the Lord’s Day is the day when Christ rose again from the dead. And the book of Colossians says that Christ when he died in Colossians 2, 14, he blotted out the handwriting of ordinances or laws that was against us, which was contrary to us and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.

And it says the verse 16, let no man therefore judge you in me, or drink and respect of the Holy Day or the New Moon or of the Sabbath. It says these were all a shadow of things which were to come. So the seventh was a foreshadowing of the Millennial Kingdom which is what’s coming up next on the program. Christ will come back and conclude the church age at the rapture. There will be seven years of tribulation and then Christ will return and there will be a seventh day called the Day of the Lord a thousand year day that coincides with the seven days of the recreated week and how there would be 6,000 years apparently of human history and then a seventh thousand days.

And we’ve already, if Adam were here 4,000 years BC till now, that’s 6,000 years or six days of a thousand years of length. And the seventh thousand years is about to take place. And so that’s what we’re talking about. The Sabbath is not for the believer. The Sabbath is from Friday night sundown to Saturday night sundown. We worship on the resurrection day the first day of the week. And we thank you for that call. We’re now going to go to Dave and Plant City.

Dave we’ve had a lot of trouble getting ahold of you, but here you are Dave. Hello Dr. Hank. Happy Memorial Day to you today. Thank you. I got a question. We had a problem arising in the church. We have a personal leadership that they should do that and I’ll hang up and listen. Thank you. Well, there’s nothing in the Bible that says you cannot date or marry interracially. And obviously we are all, every one of us, related back to Adam.

I tell people I’m a direct descendant of Noah. Has all the world perished in Noah’s flood. And so we’re all related back to Noah. But the Bible does forbid a believer from marrying an unbeliever. Now that’s where the Bible does draw the line and so obviously if that person was to marry an unbeliever that would be wrong and that’s something you’d be brought up but otherwise there’s nothing in the Bible about that. So Dave I think somebody needs to do their homework over there in your church.

Thank you so very much. We now have Bernard again. I think I didn’t get one of his questions answered. So, welcome back Bernard. Yes. The other question I had was about time in today’s church, how is time? Because we know how the times were paid in the old church. So, that’s why we’ll be the good explanation there. And I will hang up and listen to your answer. Sorry. I’m sorry I forgot all about that question. Didn’t get an answer.

But we are under the New Testament, not under law, but under grace. And the time was a part of the Old Testament law. Now the Bible tells us we don’t give because we’re obligated by the law to give, but we give from the heart as a true expression of our love and gratitude as to what the Lord gave for us. He gave his life for us. And so the Bible talks about that giving is a way of expressing our love, it’s a way of expressing our thankfulness and gratitude to the Lord for what He gave to us by giving His life at the cross of Calvary.

And so there are several verses here that I’d like to point out to you. It says in 2 Corinthians 9, and this is grace giving, it says, verse 7, every man according as he purposes in his heart so let him give. So notice everybody is obligated to give, but we’re to give as we purpose in our heart. There’s no set amount that is set for us to give under grace. But then it says we’re not to give grudgingly. Nor of necessity.

In other words, some churches make you feel that you’re obligated such that you’re grudgingly giving. I don’t want to give, but I’m going to give it anyway. And some because they present this great need and you are giving because of the need, actually God says He loves a cheerful giver. The word cheerful from the Greek is a word that means hilarious. You give from the heart you want to give because you’re so grateful for what God has done. And then the Bible talks about how you are going to reap rewards in heaven based upon how you give.

So if you sow sparingly, verse 6, you’ll reap sparingly, but if you sow bountifully, you’ll reap bountifully. So this is talking about laying up treasures in heaven. Christ said you can lay up treasures in heaven and thieves won’t break through and steal it. And you’ll have rewards there sitting there for you forever. in chapter 8, and by the way, 2 Corinthians 8 and 9 are two chapters about giving. It says, for you know in verse 9 of chapter 8, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might be rich.

So here talks about the example that Christ gave, he gave his life. And certainly we ought to give to show our thankfulness and gratitude, but it doesn’t have to be 10%. We have a wonderful book in our resource center here called Balancing the Christian Life, where Charles Ryrie gives one of the greatest presentations on giving that I’ve read, and he talks there about how you might choose maybe to give 11%, or 10.5%, or 9.5%, but we’re not under the Old Testament law, it’s up to you to decide how much to give.

But he also says and suggests, should we give less under grace than we gave under law? When you were required to give, you would give 10%. Should you give less today now that you don’t have to give it under the command of the law? As you give from the heart, would you want to give less? And I think the answer should be no. We ought to. And by the way, we can give of our time and our talents and our treasures, what I call the three teas, and whatever time and whatever talent and whatever treasures you give to the Lord, God is going to reward you greatly.

I love what it says in Matthew chapter 19, he will give us a 10,000% return on your investment. What do you get now if you put some money in the bank? 1% 1.5. Return on your investment in the bank is about zero. But if you were to give money to the Lord, your investment into eternity would be a 10,000% return according to Bible in Matthew 19. So we ought to give from the heart, we ought to give because we love the Lord, we ought to give not under the law.

And it’s something that you purpose or decide How much you’re going to give as the Bible says, depending upon how God has prospered you. And I hope that helps and thank you for your call. We’re now going to go to Dennis in the land, Florida. Dennis, welcome to the Bible and you’re on here. You’re going to have my end up doing it. Who’s here? Who’s here? Yes, I hear you. Okay. Turn it to your program. I respect the aim of your opinion, but I do have one question I’d like to ask you, but what is the definition of a quote?

A cult basically is a group that denies the basic tenets of Christianity. So if you deny hell, all the cults deny hell, the Seventh Adventist deny hell, the Joe’s Witnesses deny hell, the Mormons deny hell, the Unity Church denies hell, the Christian scientists deny hell. These are all the marks of a cult. They deny usually the Bible being the sole authority of the church. All the cults have extra-typical writings. For example, the Joe’s Witnesses have the Watchtower Society. The Seven Dead Venice have the writings of L.

G. White. The Christian scientists have the writings of Mary Baker Eddie. And the Mormons have the Book of Mormon. And on and on we go. So they deny usually the Trinity. The Joe’s Witnesses do not believe in the Trinity. And on and on we go. So the basic doctrines that you’ll find in the Bible are denied by a group that would be called a cult. When they denied the basic doctrines of the Bible, which are the basic teachings, the fact that there’s a real heaven, there’s a real hell, that Jesus Christ is God who came and took on human flesh, that salvation is not by works, but by faith alone in Christ, that there are other writings that you have to appeal to outside of the Bible and so on and so on.

These are the marks of a cult. So a cult is a group that denies the basic tenets of Christianity. So can… Well, some even believe the Catholic Church is a cult because they also believe they’re writings outside of the Bible or the decisions made by the Church itself are equal with Scripture and many of those decisions done through the years actually contradict the Bible. So the teaching that you are saved by works basically by keeping the seven sacraments is totally formed of the scripture and the fact that there is a purgatory, there is no purgatory in anybody’s Bible.

These doctrines, they have a whole host of them which they accept and believe because of the decisions made by the church to add these things. So some have said that qualifies them as well. the Roman Catholic Church doesn’t believe in hell. They really believed to go to hell. You’d have to really, really teach purgatories in the alternate place where eventually you wind up going to heaven and to go to hell would be you’d have to actually just beg to get in there.

But basically they hold to the Trinity of Christ of the Godhead, the deity of Christ and many other doctors so they generally are not in that category but there’s some who would like to say they are too because they have some qualities that are like a cult. It seems to me that the definition work quite today and it’s a lot of different negative Negative connotation because you have things like main domination, main control, oppression, of consignment, inclusion, usually occurred to sit by somebody whose supreme authority has to be followed and stuff like that, you know what I’m saying?

Those are also true of many of the, there’s so many new cults today that are really way Go! way out. And then of course there is the occult which is into the spirit world in Satan’s realm where they contact the dead and other things like that which are really way out. So basically all you have to know is that the Bible is the Word of God and if you stayed, lined up with the Scriptures, you’re going to be just fine.

So I would not let that go. Thank you Dennis for calling in. We now have Tony in Richmond, Virginia again. I thought we had just spoken to Tony. Tony, welcome to buy one. You’re on the air. Hey, I call in reference to the comment or give you rest. Could that be that talking about with Hannah, like he said of all this said? You’re breaking it up. I’m not too sure where to call a call is a bad call. But if you read And this is where rightly dividing the word of truth comes into play.

2 Timothy 2, 15 says, study to show thyself approved unto God as a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word. In Matthew 11, 28, to be saved, all you need to do is come to Christ. Come unto me, all you that labor in our heavenly, and I’ll give you rest. Then verse 29 and 30 are talking about the Christian life where we’re obligated to do take my yoke upon you and learn of me and he says you’ll find rest under your souls and then he says my yoke is easy My burden is like so you serve Lord and that’s verse 29 and 30 and they’ll have a rest a piece within To know that even though there might be difficulties in your life You’re at peace because you know you’re doing what God wants you to do But the rest in verse 28 is the rest of

of salvation that you rest from your labors because Christ has purchased your salvation by his death and of course that’s what brings about salvation. So thank you Tony for calling in we now have Tina in Newport, Rich, and Tina welcome to You’re on the air. Tina, hi, you’re on the air. Okay. I have a question for first Corinthians 1529 where it says being baptized for the dead. It doesn’t read real well in the English, but the whole chapter is about the resurrection and it’s talking about as time went along, people that were believers were were passing on into eternity and then they were baptizing new believers who would obviously in a sense take their place and why would they baptize new believers to take the place of those who died if there were no resurrection from the dead.

It’s not saying that you’ve baptized for dead people but it’s talking about for example So every one of us should replace ourselves. If you’re a believer, you’re going to die someday and you need to leave someone else to Christ to take your place. And hopefully when you leave this world, you will have left a number of believers behind to take your place when you pass on into eternity. And here it talks about those new believers being baptized, which every believer ought to be, not to be saved, but ought to be water baptized.

And so it doesn’t read well in the King James, but it’s facing the same. Why in the world would Christians, the early Christians, win people to Christ and they would be baptized and they would replace and fill up the ranks of those that had been believers who had died? Why would they do that if there were no resurrection of the dead? It doesn’t make any sense. And that’s the point being made there. I see, okay. Because someone cannot be baptized with someone else.

Oh, no. Not at all. And that’s what it sounds like here. So that’s what they do, which are baptized for the dead. That’s what it reads in the King James and it’s unfortunate that that has been misconstrued. The Mormons use that where they have these genealogical records and they go into their temple and they do all these baptisms for dead relatives so that they can vicariously work out salvation for a person who has already died. That’s crazy and that’s not what the Bible is teaching here.

And Scofield has a good help. If you have the Scofield Bible in the margin, it says here, those who through the introductory right of baptism are taking the places and the ranks left vacant by Christians who have already died. And so Scofield says basically what I just said a moment ago. So a good Scofield Bible, the old Scofield Reference Bible will help you when you come to passages like this. Okay fine. You’re so welcome. Thank you Tina and Newport Richie.

We now have Jean in St. Petersburg and Jean welcome to Bibleline you’re on here. Hi Dr. Lindstrom. I wouldn’t know if you could give me one or two verses that I can share with my mother because they team. She’s in her 60s now. She’s teaching and she still believes that versed about Mary to the backslider. I keep telling her mom, you know, since I’ve been listening to you, I’ve learned a lot about the Bible. She still thinks that means that you can lose your salvation.

We’ve got to hang up and listen to you. Okay, thank you. You know, I would use some very simple verses. John 637 is one of my favorites. Jesus says in John 637, him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. So once you’ve come to Christ, he says, for no reason or under no circumstances would ever cast you out. Some people are clever and they say, well okay, he won’t cast me out, but I can cast myself out.

Well that’s not even true. Verse 39 of John 6, John 639, Jesus says, this is the Father’s will, that of all of which have given me I should lose none, N-O-N-E, none, but raise them all up again at the last day. So not even one person would ever be lost. Now think about it. If one person in all of history were ever lost, then Jesus would be a liar. The Bible would be wrong. The Bible is very clear that God keeps you saved.

So that’s why you can’t be lost. If you’re saved, you’re saved by Christ. And then he not only saves you, but he keeps you saved. And he says, I will not lose one person that has come to me. So if you once trust the Lord, he’s not going to cast you out and he’s not going to lose you. He keeps you saved. Many, many more verses, but those are a couple of good ones. And I like John 1028 also, where Jesus says, I give him to them eternal life.

He turned on life and they shall never perish neither shall any plug them out of my hand. So nobody is going to lose their salvation once they get saved. If they are saved and you’re saved by simple faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ at the Cross of Calvary. Got lots of all fair questions, lots of people trying to get on the air and we are out of time. Let me just share with you. This is Monday. It’s Memorial Day.
