Most Christians are not aware of how serious it is to add to what Jesus Christ has finished! It is the difference between whether or not a person is saved. It is the difference between heaven and hell. Be alert! Be on guard for this perversion of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The beauty of the true message is its simplicity! Let’s continue to proclaim it loud and clear!

Good morning and welcome to Bibleline. I’m great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning into the broadcast We appreciate you and all of our listeners I look forward to being with you each and every day Monday through Friday as we come to you live from Tampa, Florida out of our studios here at the Calvary Community Church We’re on the pastor and we look forward to meeting our listeners And if you ever get a chance to come by and visit our resource center We’re open every day till about 4 30 in the afternoon and you’re welcome to drop in and take a look at our resources
We’ll get a chance to meet you. You can get a chance to meet us and and we hope you’ll do that. You can also come on a worship day. We worship on Sundays at 10 30 in the morning and 60 in the evening with adult education in Sunday school at 9 15. The third Sunday of this month the 20th we’re having a dinner. It’s a great Sunday to drive in from wherever you might be and you can stay for dinner after the morning 10 to 30 worship service.
bring your Bible, your family, your appetite and join us be my guest for dinner. And this third Sunday the 20th of August we’re having a baptism. So if you have not been water baptized since you have been saved then you ought to do that and we invite you to be a part of our baptism here. We’d be honored to be the one to baptize you and if you have not been baptized remember since you’ve been saved, then it doesn’t count.
Those such thing in the Bible is infant baptism, not one scripture anywhere where an infant was ever baptized. That is totally unscriptural and false in the way of doctrine. If you were baptized before, you were saved. What are you giving testimony to? That’s again wrong and you have not really been baptized in the way the Bible talks about believers’ baptism. Believers are to give testimony by water baptism of the fact that they’ve been cleansed the their sin by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Only the blood could wash away your sin. Water could never take away your sin. So water is merely symbolic of how we were cleansed of our sin by the blood of Jesus Christ. So if you’d like to be a part of it, call our 800 number and definitely get your name on the list and we’ll give you ind directions and instructions and we hope that you’ll join us. And of course it would be a nice day to come to the morning worship, stay for dinner and then follow us as we move from the church to a lake just a little north of us where there’s a beautiful setting and we’ll do an outdoor baptism in a lake close to Calvary Community Church.

142 countries now have logged on to the Bibleline website. So we have coverage all over the world from Asia to Australia, New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, South America, Central America, of course, North America. Tell your friends, if you have friends in other countries, know the parts of the world, and wouldn’t it be great if they would tune into the Bibleline and get saved? We’re in most every Muslim country, and isn’t that great? Pray for those folks, they certainly need Jesus as their Savior.
They are worshiping the wrong God, the moon God, and we worship in the Bible the God created the moon. Praying to the moon. That’s what every minaret per tower has at the top of Crescent Moon, because Allah is the moon God and they prayed to the moon when God, the God of the Bible, The Bible is the one who created the moon and the sun and the stars and the Bible forbids very early in Genesis the worship of the sun and the moon and the stars.
So there you are, moon worshipers. And obviously the Bible says that is a blasphemy. They’re worshiping the creation and not the create tor. And Allah can’t help them. How can the moon possibly offer them anything? And so I guess they really need our prayers and we pray the Bibleline will reach out to them. many of those that are listening via the internet in Islamic countries. We are going to go to the Bible for a few minutes and then we’re going to be taking your questions and we’ll be taking live callers if you have an offer question we can take this as well and so get ready.
You know the Bible teaches that there’s only one way to heaven Jesus is that way John 14 6 Christ said I am the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father but by me. The uniqueness of Christianity is that it’s all about the person of Christ. The Bible says in 1 John 5, 12, he that hath the Son has life, and he that has not the Son of God has not life. So if you take Christ out of Christianity, you only have energy.
You have nothing. You could take Mohammed out of Islam and you still have Islam. You could take Confucius not a Confucianism and you still have Confucianism and so on and so on. But with Christ, He is the way. He is the truth. He is the life. And according to the Bible, you don’t get saved when you join a church. In John 1.12 it says to as many as received Jesus Christ. To them, God gave power or authority for them to become the sons of God.
To become born again, you must receive Christ, not the commandments, not baptism, not church membership, not prayer, penance, mass, or confirmation. But when you receive Christ Himself, by faith, trusting that He died for you, God saves you. Peter says in Acts 4.12, neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. one name in which there is salvation, that is the name Yeshua, and Yeshua is the name of God from the Old Testament, the four consonants which we call the tetragrammaton, which nobody really knows how to pronounce, but in 1611 they put three vowel sounds in between those four letters YHWH and said it should be pronounced YAHovah, or YAHovah.
But you know, that has been popular but more lately or more recently scholars have put just two vowel sounds between the YHWH and they pronounce it YAH way. In any case that word with the word for salvation from the Old Testament Hebrew YAH-Shah Y-A-S-H-A, the contraction is Yeshua and Yeshua literally means God who would save you and the English form of Yeshua is Jesus. Did you know Yeshua occurs in the Old Testament over 130 times. Over 130 times. Can you believe that?
There are so many references to Jesus in the Old Testament. I was on a talk show debate with a Jewish rabbi and he just was attacking me from the moment I got there before I even got my seat and got the headset on and in front of the microphone. He said, show me Jesus Christ in the Old Testament and I’ll believe on him. He really wanted to see the name Jesus in English. I can show you Jesus in the Old Testament, but not the English word Jesus.
The word Yeshua is translated into English as Jesus. I can show you that in the entire Old Testament. Well obviously he didn’t want to hear it. And tragically within two years after that broadcast he died and went into eternity. I believe Christ was and therefore lost. You need to trust Christ in order to be saved. And the Bible makes it very clear there is no other way. 1 John 2, 23 says, whosoever denyeth the Son the same hath not the Father, but he that acknowledgeeth the Son the same hath the Father also.
Isn’t that amazing? Did your holers’ witnesses deny the Son? The Mormons deny the Son. The Christian scientists deny the Son. and so on. And so, actually, therefore, they are fatherless. They don’t have God the Father. They don’t have Yahweh or Jehovah. Can you imagine Jehovah’s Witnesses not having Jehovah? Well, that’s the paradox because the Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t have Jehovah because why? First John 2, 23 says, whosoever, denyeth the Son, the same hath not the Father. So those Jehovah’s Witnesses that claim that they are Jehovah’s Witnesses are just Witnesses and false Witnesses at that.
They don’t have the Father. 2 John, even better, verse 9, only one chapter in 2 John says, whosoever transgresses, and that’s everybody in the human race, we’re all sinners. And abide if not in the doctrine of Christ, which the witnesses do not abide in the doctrine of Christ, it says, half not God. They don’t even have God, who much less the Father. So the Joel’s witnesses are godless, They are loist and need our prayers. They don’t know God. Although they claim to be witnesses for God, they are godless, fatherless, because the Bible says they have not God if they deny the doctrine of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
1 John 2, 23, again, whosoever deny the Son the same, half not, half not the Father. They don’t have the Father. Only one way to Heaven, and it’s not through your church denomination, it’s not through your works, it’s not through your prayers, it’s through Jesus Christ. Christ is the way, the truth and the life, and no man can come to the Father but by Him. Jesus said that if you try to get to Heaven any other way than through Jesus Christ, then you’re a robber and a thief, and you will not enter Heaven.
Jesus said in John chapter 10, I am the door by me. If any man enter in, he shall be saved. There he gives the picture of the sheepfold and how that Christ is the entrance into that sheepfold. If you want to be one of God’s own and live in heaven with him, you must trust Christ. And then he tells us that he’s the good shepherd that gives his life for the sheep and so Christ died so that we could become eligible to enter through the door which is Christ.
When you trust Jesus and he died and shed his blood at the cross of calories the only means of your salvation God saves you. I’m Dr. Ankerman Trim, this is Bibleline. We’re going to go to the phone lines and we’re going to talk to Stephanie in Richmond, Virginia and Stephanie, welcome to Bibleline. You are on the air. Stephanie, are you there? Yes, I’m here. Okay, do you have a Yes, I want to ask your opinion. I drive a company truck around town all day and I see all these people holding up homeless signs and I’ve been to them a couple of times but you see them every day.
And what’s your opinion on, should you keep giving to these people every day or I mean it’s hard to ride by and ignore that they’re there. I know and you know sometimes unfortunately they use that money for alcohol and they don’t use it for food. I usually try if I can to see if I can’t pick them up a sandwich or pay for their food at a restaurant as opposed to giving them money. I’ve been stung so many times where I give them money and then they come back a little bit later and they’re drunk and they have their hand up because they want more and it’s because they want more alcohol.
We’ve had a number of homeless near our church here and we’ve tried to do a lot for many of them but some of them really don’t want to better themselves. They don’t even want to find shelter. We’ve had a couple just tell me they like to live out of the woods. They’re like boys that never grew up and big boy scouts live out and it was I know that there are those who because of unfortunate circumstances are genuinely seeking shelter at home and if we can help them that would be great.
But just be alert. I think we need to give them the gospel and if we can give them food and clothing, that’s wonderful but you need to be a little careful about giving cash because oftentimes that disconverts into wiskere drugs. Yes. Well I had thought about maybe giving one of them a problem. Maybe that would. Well that would be great. I think you get the scriptures to them. We had one that was near here and was cold. A man in our church offered his leather jacket and that person said, I can’t wear that because then I won’t get any more donations if he’s wearing something to look nice.
Oh, the street corner. So he refused it. I mean, it was interesting to us to see what they refuse and what they’ll accept, but they really want money. Generally speaking. And that’s not true of all. There are some really unfortunate people that really do need our help. Sometimes we have to just sift through and find those that are not looking for another bottle to drink, but are really looking for genuine help. But if we can lead them to Christ, that’s marvelous.
Thank you, Stephanie. Thank you for your time. Uh-huh. Stephanie in Richmond, Virginia. We’re now going to go to Jennifer down in Sarasota, Florida. And Jennifer, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Good morning, Hank. My name is Judy and I’m from Sarasota. Okay. I was wondering what your feelings are about Rick Warren’s purpose driven church movement. I’ve been getting the feeling that our church may be trying to go in that direction and bothering me. Well it should because we got several books out.
One is called The Seved on Purpose and the other one is called Who’s Driving the Purpose Driven Church both which are very enlightening but what I I hear from people that have been in the churches that are purpose driven is that you basically no longer need your Bible. They put everything up on a big screen and they feed you whatever they want you to hear. And you no longer have a place in the new seating of these, many of these new ones for a Bible or even a hymnal.
All the songs that you sing are usually the contemporary which have not much of a message at all. The scriptures you see are the ones that they choose out of whatever translation they want you to read from. And it’s pretty shallow. The Rick Warren theology, I believe, is flawed also. It’s along the lines of, of course, one of his good buddies is Bill Hybels out of Chicago. And on their website, they teach that if you begin a relationship with Jesus Christ and are pleased to continue that throughout your life, then God is pleased to continue it into eternity.
But if you begin a relationship with Christ and you are not pleased to continue that, then God will not be pleased to continue it into eternity. In other words, salvation is based on works and that you have to continue to keep on keeping on in order to ultimately get to heaven. That’s implied throughout the purpose-driven book where it seems like you step on a train and if you don’t get off the train but ride the train to the end of the destination, which implies that you have to keep on keeping on, then you’ll make heaven for eternity.
It seems like it’s a workspace philosophy, but a lot of those churches, they get rid of all the old timers. In fact, Rick Warren says that if you can’t kick them out, you might have to just wait until they die to get rid of the leaders because he said, what are the pillars in the church for? The whole thing’s up. That means to delay things in the way of change. They get rid of the established older believers and they usually then throw out the traditional hymns, throw out the traditional Bibles, and they usually go to more of entertainment and more music and so on.
One little lady who calls me regularly said that she had the quick going because the music was so loud that it affected her pacemaker and her heart and she couldn’t worship there anymore. once they changed the purpose driven. She said she couldn’t stand on her feet that long and she couldn’t stand in the loudness of the music. And so obviously there’s a big change in the way people are worshiping today in the Rick Warren purpose driven church. Well, how about the fact that church membership has been falling off and that churches are closing and they’re feeling that this is one good way to get new membership and get younger.
That’s what it’s like. Well that’s what it’s all about. It’s about church growth but also some of the purpose driven churches are failing too where they are failing also because they just have driven off everybody that was the real backbone, the real core, the real supporters, the older generation that get rid of them and they also have their difficulties as well. They usually build these new buildings and oftentimes they remove any symbols of Christianity and then they also paint the background’s black which is an interesting thing.
Why would they do that? But the purpose of a church will radically change your church, no doubt about But if you compromise the Bible then you need to look for another church. Okay, and how would you as a member of the church… I think you had a problem reading a couple of these books and then read on the Internet a little bit about it. But we got the two books here who’s driving the purpose of church. I have that.
Okay, and the other one deceived on purpose. pretty powerful and maybe buy them all copies and suggest that they read them before they make the decision. Thank you. We’re so blessed to have you on the radio. We listen to you every day. Thank you very much. God bless you. That’s Sarah Soto, Florida, and it was Judy, not Jennifer. We have Harold in Tampa, Florida. Harold. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Nelson. How you doing? Good.
Good person yesterday and it was concerning the Sabbath and for somehow she believed that Adam and Eve was observing the Sabbath Abraham was observing the Sabbath but I’m reading in Galatians where God made the promise to Abraham So I’m not trying to understand how were they observing the Sabbath and I’ll hang up and you can give me some insight on that All right. Yeah, the 10 commandments given from Mount Sinai were not given until 430 years after Abraham. So the commandment also keep the Sabbath was not given until Moses, 430 years after Abraham.
And also this was a sign, just like the rainbow was a sign that God would never again flood the earth as he did in the days of Noah. find that the Sabbath was a sign of God’s agreement from Mount Sinai between himself and Israel. When you go back to the book of Exodus, let me read a couple of verses here, in Exodus 31 verse 12 and the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, verse 13, speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my Sabbath ye shall keep for it is a sign, and then he He says, between me and you, the children of Israel, throughout your generations.
He goes on down to say in verse 17, it is the sign between me and the children of Israel forever. So God never really gave it to the Gentiles. He gave it to Israel. The covenant that he made on Mount Sinai was between the children of Israel and God. The Samith was a sign of that covenant between God and Israel. You might remember when the covenant of the law was proposed to Israel when Moses went up into Mount Sinai, you’ll notice that God was asking Israel if they wanted to enter into this covenant, which included the keeping of the Samith, and they said, of course, yes, they wanted to do that.
So Moses went up into the Mount, and God said to Moses in verse 3 and 4 of chapter 19 of Exodus, then shalt thou say unto the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel, and he tells them how he bear them on eagle’s wings and brought them out of Egypt unto himself, and that was all by grace. But then he would offer them a covenant where they would be unique as a people, observing these laws that he would give to them, and so Moses came down and called for the elders of the people, verse 7 of Exodus 19, and laid before their faces all these words which the Lord commanded him.
And then verse 8 you see Israel as a nation contracting with God to enter into this contract or law that came from Mount Sinai. And all the people answered together and said, all that the Lord had spoken, we will do. And then Moses returned with those words of the people and of the Lord. So this was a two way deal. The word offered this covenant of the law, including the Sabbath to Israel. Israel heard the words of Moses and God’s offer.
Then they said, yes, absolutely we’ll do that. And then Moses went back up into the Mount and carried those words back to God and it was ratified. And so that’s a covenant between Israel and God. And the Sabbath is a sign of that covenant. You’ll notice that the Jewish people are faithfully, even to this very hour, observed the Sabbath, which is Friday night to Saturday night sundown. We Gentiles have never really had the Sabbath. We Gentiles are not under the law.
In Colossians 2, it tells us that Christ took the thing that divided the Gentiles and the Jews out of the way which was the law and nailed it to his cross, taking it out of the way. Therefore, it says in Colossians 2.16, let no man judge you in respect of the Holy Days or the moon, new moon or even of the Sabbath. That is a picture of something that is future. And obviously, the ultimate picture of the Sabbath is the thousand year rule of Christ here on this earth when israel That’s right.
Israel will be the head nation and God will rule over Israel over Israel as their king and over all the kings of the earth is king of kings and that is the forecasting of that seventh day being a picture of a seventh thousand years of human history. I believe that was only here 4,000 years before Christ for 6,000 years ago. If you take the six days of the Creative Week and apply a thousand to each one of those days, there were 6,000 years of human history thus far, 4,000 until Christ, 2,000 now since Christ, and we’re at the end of the sixth day and the seventh day of 1,000 year day called the Day of the Lord is about to take place.
That, I believe, was what it’s saying in Colossians that the Sabbath was a foreshadowing of this prophetic picture of God establishing this covenant with Israel that he would make them a kingdom and they would be the head nation in the kingdom and it has nothing to do with us Gentiles. Thank you so much Harold in Tampa, Florida. We are coming up on our break time and we’ll be doing Bible in Part 2. If you’re on a station that doesn’t carry the second half of Bible and there are a couple of them, then you might want to go to the internet and hear the full program.
And you can listen of course to it at any time but you’ll be able to continue along with us here. Otherwise, just keep your radio dial tuned here and you’ll hear the second half of Bible line. Again, we want to invite you to drop by if you’re in driving distance to visit our resource center. But if not, you can visit it on our online bookstore. It is good to BibleLineMinistries.org.com and then go to the online bookstore and you’ll see all of our resources and we have lots of things that will really benefit and help you.
We hope you’ll take a look. We’re going to take a short break. We’ll come right back and do Bibleline Part 2. So keep your radio dial tuned right where it is. Don’t go away and we’ll be back to do Bibleline Part 2 in just one moment. So stay tuned right here to Bibleline. be right back. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. I’m Dr. Englund, this is Bible and it’s been great to be with you today and again we look forward to being with you each and every day.
I hope you’re enjoying the program. You can get a copy of this program by calling our operators and they’ll be glad to provide you with a CD copy for a gift of $5 plus shipping. Also, you can hear it again on the internet. You might want to try that. Also, we want to thank you for your prayers and your gifts to Bible and because all of you that listen and partner with us to take care of this program are the real heroes that keep this program going.
We don’t really have the finances to be able to do it. This is much bigger than my church. Obviously we have quite a large congregation in a sense, listen to Bibleline and the expenses reflect that because it costs money to be on the radio. I don’t get paid personally nor does our staff. We have two men in here right now answering our calls and our secretary and of course she’s paid by the church but these are volunteers and I’m a volunteer and we use all our funds to pay the expenses to get this program out to the world.
And we obviously need your partnership. So we’re not trying to get your money, we’re trying to get the gospel out. And maybe you’d like to partner with us and send the gift of Bible I am by mail in, if you’d like. The 4811 George Road in Tampa. The zip is 336-334. And or you can call our operators, which is probably the best way, get them to send you an envelope with our address printed on it. or they’ll recite our address to you, or you can give a gift by credit card over the phone.
If you have questions, you can call in at any time to leave your offer a question. We’ll try to answer it the following day if we can’t get to it on that very day. And obviously, we are living, my friend, in the end times. If you’re watching the news, and of course, obviously, the latest news is the catching of these terrorists would have blown up error liners crossing the Atlantic between Europe and America. And obviously what a great tragedy that would have been if they had not caught them.
We’re excited. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and this is Bibleline. We’re going to go ahead and do Bibleline Part 2 in just one moment. If you are not on a station, here’s the second half. Go to the Internet. Click on the little Earth spinning globe on the upper right-hand corner. and you’ll be able to get our radio show 24 hours a day. So stay tuned as we join stations that have been on break and we do Bible and Part 2.
And keep your radio dial tuned right where it is. We’re going to be back in just one moment. I’m Dr. Englund, and this is Bible and stay tuned. Would you like to call Bible and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. that’s one eight hundred five seven six thirty seven seventy one now here again is dr hanklin strum all right we’re through that break and this is bible and then we have some exciting news we have the man who might build the third temple in juruslam will be here at calvary community church on thursday august uh…
seventeenth that’s a week from this thursday week from tomorrow He will be right here or week from the day rather. He will be right here with us at Calvary Community Church. That is seven o’clock in the evening. You are welcome to come from anywhere within driving distance. I hope you will be here. Gerson Solomon. He has been here before, but he is coming right now from this war that is there in Israel. He is coming from trying to lay a cornerstone this past Thursday, the 9th of Av, which which is a day of infamy in Israeli history.
This is a indication that we are close to the Lord’s return. I think you’ll want to be here. In Revelation chapter 11, you have to remember when John, the apostle wrote the book of Revelation around AD 96, there was no temple in Jerusalem because the second temple had been destroyed in AD. by the Romans. But yet John is caught into the future and sees this third temple that Gershan Solomon is attempting to build which will be placed as soon as the government of Israel and the newly convened Sanhedrin make that decision.
The stones are cut and his organization, Gershan’s organization, has done that. But Revelation 11.1 says there was given unto me a reed like into a rod and the angels stood saying that John rise and measure the temple. Well, obviously at the time he wrote the book of Revelation there was no temple to measure, but is talking about the future and the temple that will be built in the tribulation period that John the Apostles told to measure that temple and the altar which tells us there will be animal sacrifices again and them that worship their end which tells us there will be worshippers on the Temple Mount Jewish worshippers that will worship at the Jewish Temple that will be rebuilt.
Could be that you’re going to rub arms with, shake hands with, listen to and see the very man that God maybe has raised up to build that third temple. So that is exciting. We’re looking forward to it and I hope you’ll be here with us Thursday night, a week from tonight here at Bible and Headquarters at Calvary Community Church, 7 o’clock, the 17th of August we invite you to be here. So that’s next Thursday, a week from tonight. Please try to get here early to get a good seat and get parking.
And we will begin promptly at 7 o’clock. Gershan Solomon just flew here from Israel. in the States and will be with us on Thursday, this coming Thursday the 17th of August at 7 p.m. We will be recording that and after he has been here we’ll be making those recordings. It might be video, it might be audio, it might be both, but we’ll let you know as we get closer. We’re going to go ahead and go to the phone lines again.
We have a caller from Clearwater. We have Cynthia in Clearwater, Florida. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning Pastor Hank, how are you? Good, thank you. Good, good. I just wanted to mention that my mother in law of Virginia is celebrating her 80th birthday this weekend with family and friends who will be gathering at Clearwater Beach. And I am praying that all of her family and friends are saved and have trusted Christ as their Savior. And you were speaking earlier in the program about being saved in a number of verses.
But I was wondering if you would explain Acts 4, 12, where it speaks about the nation being in Jesus and that by Him we must be saved. And would you also include Acts 1630 and 31? I’m sure we’re glad to do that. And that’s wonderful that you’re concerned about the extended family. And I hope that they’ll all come to know Christ if they don’t already know him as their Savior. That’d be wonderful. Yes, it was. Thank you. All right.
So asking about Acts 4, 12. Peter there really comes out with a great statement. He’s talking really to the nation of Israel and their leadership. He says, neither is their salvation in any other. Although some people are trusting in their church and their church traditions and the things that they are doing to get them to heaven, that won’t get you there. Obviously the Jewish people had lots of traditions and they were counting on the fact of their faithfulness to Judaism and obedience to the law and the commandments of God to get them to heaven when Peter is saying, that won’t get you there.
There is only salvation in one name, one person, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. And so let me go ahead and quote the verse as Peter says it in Acts chapter 4 verse 12. I recommend you write it down and look it up yourself, but we find that neither Peter says is there salvation in any O other, for there is none other name under heaven, given among men whereby we must be saved. Peter, of course, draws the connection between the Old and New Testaments and said that Jesus is the stone which was said at naught of you builders which has become the head of the corner.
He is making reference back to the Prophet Isaiah that told about this stone, this cornerstone, this sure foundation that if they would believe on Him, they would have peace with God and they would be saved. And he’s telling them that Jesus is that stone. He is the Savior that the prophets had spoken about that had come and that there is salvation in none other than the Messiah, the Savior, the stone, which is Jesus. And then Peter in his first epistle goes on again to point out how Christ is that chief cornerstone that God said that he would lay in Jerusalem and all those who would believe on him whether they are Jewish or Gentile would be eligible to get to heaven.
And then you asked also about Acts 16 where we have Paul who had been thrown in jail at Philippi for preaching the gospel. And interesting, they had been beaten and thrown in jail, and you would have thought that they would be seeing the jailhouse blues, but you find that Paul, at midnight, along with his partner Silas, it says in verse 25 at midnight, Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God. And the prisoners heard them. Can you imagine?
Here you’ve been beaten up, thrown in jail, and at midnight you’re singing praises to God. I tell you, well obviously Paul knew and Silas knew that they were doing the will of God and that they were saved. And it says suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s bands were loosed. So obviously the Lord had made it possible for every prisoner in the prison to escape and the keeper of the prison, awakening out his sleep and seeing that all the prison doors were open, he drew out his sword and would have killed himself.
He was ready to commit suicide, supposing that the prisoners had fled. He knew that he was done for if somehow under his watch all the prisoners had escaped from the prison. But Paul cried out with a lot of voice and said, Do thyself no harm, for we’re all He called for light and sprang in and came trembling and fell down before Paul and Silas and brought them out and said, sirs, what must I do to be saved? You know Paul and Silas have already prepared the way.
The keeper of the prison knew they were there for preaching Jesus. He also probably knew that they were singing at midnight, praises the God, and obviously that already had prepared a stage. He said, what must I do to be saved? Here’s a man who’s desperate, a man who’s ready to take his own life, a man that was ready to fall on his own sword and die. And Paul and Silas said, verse 31, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.
Wow, what a great verse that has been down through the past 2000 years. I’ve used it many times to lead people to Christ and many, many have been led to Christ by the words here of Paul and Silas as they told the flippin jailer how to be saved. The word belief means to trust. When you trust on the Lord Jesus Christ, the fact that he died, shed his blood was buried and came back again from the dead. That when you trust him as your only hope of heaven, then God saved him.
He just like Peter had said earlier in chapter 4 and verse 12 of the book of Acts that salvation is in none other. There is none other name under heaven. Give it among men whereby we must be saved. And so the one condition for salvation is not church membership, water baptism, confirmation, penance, mass, prayers, all the things that people sometimes will tell you about keeping in a Christian life or keeping the commandments, but it’s belief or trust on the Lord Jesus Christ.
When you trust Christ, God saves you. Let me just say a word about this last phrase and then it says, and thou shall be saved and thy house. Now when it says thy house, it doesn’t mean automatically if you get saved, your whole family gets saved. But what it’s saying is if you believe on Christ as Savior, you’ll be saved and if the members of your household believe they also will be saved and the context demands that because there are those who feel like there’s some kind of a deal that they cut with God when they believe on Christ that automatically their whole family is saved.
That is not true. So notice it says in verse 32, they speak unto the Philippian jailer, the word of the Lord, and here it is verse 32, to all of them that were in his house. And we find it says in verse 34, and when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them and rejoiced. And here’s the last phrase in verse 34, answering the question for us, believing in God with all his house. So everybody in the household got saved.
The flippian jailer was one happy guy. He not only got saved, but everybody in his house also heard the word of the word. They also got saved. But the only thing they did to become saved was to believe or trust on the Lord Jesus Christ. Obviously, anybody who is listening right now. If you have not yet trusted Christ as your Savior, you need to do that. The Greek word translated, believe here in Acts 16 and throughout the New Testament, is a Greek word that means best expressed in English, trust to rely upon, to put your confidence in, to rest your weight upon.
So when you trust that Jesus Christ is indeed that Savior that Peter talked about, the only Savior, the one in whom only in his name is Your salvation, and you believe or trust on him, you become saved and become saved eternally. So right now wherever you might be listening to this message, you could say, Lord, I am a sinner. We all are. That’s just being honest. But I trust right now Jesus Christ as the one who died for me.
And when you do that, when you trust Christ as the one who by his death and shed blood paid your sin debt was buried and rose again from the dead. God saves you and you don’t have to look for a feeling to know that it happens. You have his word on it. He promises salvation at the moment you believe. Isn’t that wonderful? Well, in any case, we hope that answers the question and we have a number of other callers out there waiting to go.
So we’re going to go So now to Vinny in Hudson, Florida and Vinny, welcome to the Bible and you’re on the air. Yes, good morning Dr. Munchkin. I’m having a discussion with somebody concerning calm. comes and their argument is they’re using the scripture verse and I can’t recall it right off the top of my head. That one that which is perfect comes. Yes, sure. Yeah.
Well, you’re talking about 1 Corinthians 13, 8 through 10, and it names three gifts that would cease, the gift of knowledge, the gift of prophecy and the gift of tongues, when And that which was perfect was come. And all of that is neuter. All that whole section there is neuter in the Greek. Now, in Greek we don’t have periods and commas and different points of punctuation like we do in the English language. The way you can make sentences together is by the gender ending.
So everything there is neuter. That means everything has a neuter ending. So that means it has to refer to a neuter subject. Christ in Greek is Christos. Christas and the OS ending means its masculine so it cannot refer to Christ because the Greek demands that to make your sentence come together it has to have a Greek subject a rather a neuter subject and by the way the Word of God is neuter and is called that which is perfect in James 125 back in Psalm 19 in verse 5 it’s of the law of the Lord which is the Word of God is is perfect, converting the soul and making wise the simple.
Their numerous verses that talk about the Bible being that which is perfect. Obviously it has to be a neuter subject, it cannot refer to Christ. Right. Psalm19, what was that? Nineteen-five, I believe. Nineteen-five. Okay, I’m going to go back with them with this. Hopefully they claim to be saved, but this is a sticking point that we have and where she’s getting this. It’s not from the Bible. That’s the unfortunate thing is that they are talking about something that doesn’t match up with the Scripture at all.
The Bible doesn’t have any secret prayer language anywhere in the Bible. And all of that is made up because they do the gibberish that nobody can understand. But so do all the world religions. She could be a Buddhist and do the same thing. She could be a Muslim and do the same thing. She could be in a tribe that’s in the jungle in South America or Africa or someplace that’s still People do the same thing. All the world religions do the gibberish and they have been deceived.
The real gift was a known foreign language gift to evangelize the lost. None of these people are speaking in their tongue to lost people so that they can understand the gospel and become saved. It is just a pure counterfeit that is going on today. We have a wonderful book by the way, Vinny, in our library here, our Resource Center, called The New Testament Teaching on Tongues by Merle Unger. He is a wonderful scholar. He is author of many books, The Unger Bible Dictionary, commentaries on the New and Old Testament, many other books that are spectacular.
He goes through and exegites those verses that we mentioned a moment ago and shows from the Greek that it could not refer to Christ or to love, but it has to refer to the Word of God and the whole context there demands that interpretation is powerful if you need extra ammunition. You might want to order that book. We have it here in our Resource Center here at Calvary. We have a caller in Clearwater, Florida. We have Dwight on the line.
Dwight welcome to the Bible on. Oh, good morning. Good morning. What’s your question? Well, actually I was going to try to help out that lady that called about the Book of driven church. I’ve got some red flag where the chibis see happening before they actually make an announcement of where the church is going if that be all right. Okay go ahead. Okay usually it happens these things don’t always occur in every instance but some things you might want to look for is a pastor change.
The pastor changed, but quite often it is. Right after the pastor changed, there’s usually a change in church government. There was a church right here close to me that… that as soon as this new pastor came in they changed all the bylaws in the church and made it almost impossible for the congregation to fire. It’s a way to find your spiritual gifts, but basically if you tear it down it’s the psychological profiling mechanism where they miss an 18 months without the congregation knowing it.
It’s preconditioning the congregation and letting just trying to get a feel of where people are and how to ease them into it. Another big red flag is covenants. They ask you to find a membership covenant. Also there’s usually four layers of indoctrination called workshops or levels of Christian education. Usually at the completion of each one of these you have to find a covenant. There can be There can be Bible changes. They usually go to pretty much new age Bibles like the Message or the NIV.
She will notice a… Notice sometimes there’s seating changes. They tear out all the seats and put… He replaces the seeds with later seeding. She may see increases. Not always in Eastern Christianity. Centering prayer, seeking the silence of the Lord, lamborence, Christian yoga. She may notice a change of worship. He may notice a change of worship times and worship formats. Traditional services are almost always eliminated one way or the other. She will notice small groups. She will notice small groups here for a half of the change.
Notice they push towards community service, helping the poor, the homeless. And that in itself is a wonderful thing, but there’s a covert reason behind that. There’s a lot of things. I mean, if you’ve heard this said so many times that people will say there was something different and I couldn’t put my finger on it. And it’s because things are changing behind the scenes. And this is usually how it sneaks up on the congregation. There’s another… Her church may not be changing a purpose driven church.
It may be a church now that is sweeping America called the Immersion Church, postmodern church. All these things she just needed to work for. and he went right up to the pastor who looked him in the eye and said, are we going purpose-driven? And I can’t deny that we’re not. And make a long story short, the fellow that did that taught the seniors Bible study for years. And then… And at the end of that worship day, an elder came up, her head deacon came up and fired him.
Wow. There’s a lot of things. Very, very enlightening. Those are just some of the things she needs to work lookout for. And I hope that helps some people out there. Thanks a lot, Dwight. That was very, very enlightening and a good summary of the things that you can look for in a church going purpose-driven. We have Nancy in Grand Blanc, Michigan calls in from listening on the station out of Flint, Michigan that we’re on, and she says, please clarify the word believe.
Does that include repent and turn through your sins? Is this a three-step plan? Just saying believe what does that involve? Is this just the knowledge? That’s a great question. Nancy up in Grandbong, Michigan. The word believe, as I said earlier, means to trust. The phrase, repent of your sins does not even occur in the Bible. The Bible does teach that you must repent to be saved. The Greek word is metanoia, M-E-T-A, meaning change, and noia, meaning mind, and metanoia the two words together, means a change of mind.
When you trust Christ, you do change your mind from what you were previously trusting in, but it does not mean to turn from sin. That would imply human works and that you have to do something of self to be saved. I love what the hymn writer wrote. He said, Just as I am, I come without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me. And so when you believe or trust on Christ, that says it all. We simply trust in what Christ did for us.
It has nothing to do with what we do for Him. The false plan of salvation every time will point to you and something that you must do, that you have to change your life or turn from your sin or walk forward or publicly confess Christ. All of that is a false message. The true message is that we simply trust in what Christ finished for us at the cross. Nancy, I hope that helps. We have a great book on evangelism called Handbook to Personal Evangelism that really does spell out the fundamentals about what you must do in order to be saved and shows that the Bible Plan of Salvation excludes human works.
She also says, Nancy says from Grand Blanc, Michigan, how do you authenticate the Bible when somebody says they don’t believe the Bible. Well, first of all, I don’t believe you even have to do that. You can just tell them, let me just tell you what the Bible says anyway. The Bible says in Hebrews 4, 12 that it is living in powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. And the Bible works even though they may say they don’t believe it.
I’ve had people tell me I don’t believe the Bible. I would say, well, let me just tell you what it says anyway, at least you’ll be educated. I would quote scripture and point out what the Bible had to say. Five minutes later they would trust Christ. Bible is very, very powerful. I would use it even though they say they don’t believe it because it is our sword and it is living in powerful and brings life, spiritual life to those that are spiritually dead.
All right. We have Chris in Holiday Florida and Chris, welcome to Bibleline. You are on the air. Yes. Good morning, Pastor. How are we doing this? Good. couple of questions about the way the religion has portrayed in the media, especially on the cable network, say any, they seem to play a lot of… of different views of the standard Bible and the dejaia Bible. What is your views on the way that the tread of Bible on television? Oh, I think absolutely right.
We’re under. We’re under attack. This is the time when Christ is going to come back and more and more Christians are going to come under the attack of the media and the press and just the whole world as Satan will attempt to work through the end of Christ and will persecute and kill Christians. Many will be beheaded for their faith in Jesus Christ after the rapture. I’m glad I’m leaving at the rapture. So that’s absolutely right on. We have other callers waiting out there.
We just can’t get to you. The time has run out, but we’ll be back again tomorrow. We’ll try to answer the offer questions that we didn’t get today tomorrow. And again, we want to know that Gerson Solomon, the man who right might rebuild the Third Temple, who’s already kept the stones, who is here from Jerusalem, just flew into the country. We’ll be with us Thursday night, the 17th at 7 p.m. if you’re in driving distance, come by and see us.
We will try to record the evening and make it available to those of you that live in other parts of the country. But here’s the man coming from the war and with the latest information on the Temple Mount. What is holding up the building of the Third Temple, I think we’ll learn a lot. We invite you to come and meet this unsaved Orthodox Jew. We are good friends, even though I tell him he’s lost without Christ. He believes that Christ is coming the first time, as most Jews hold that view, when we believe he’s already come and is coming again the second time shortly.
Gotta run, keep looking up. Jesus Coming! You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline Ministries of Tampa, Florida. I’m Dr. Inklyn Stearman. Again, we want to invite you if you live in driving distance to Kim, come here Gersh on Solomon, this 17th of August, Thursday night, a week from now, at 7 till about 9.30. Come early, get a good parking place, get a good seat. We’ll have a wonderful evening. We invite you to be a part of that. Thanks for being a part of the Bibleline today. We had many callers that we couldn’t get up on the air today.
We’ll try to do our best tomorrow to get the rest of the callers up that if they call back tomorrow and also the answers given to the unspoken or rather the off-air questions that were left here with us. Again, we want to thank you for praying for Bible and giving to Bible and your gifts are an indispensable part of this program without you. We could not be on the air. It costs money to pay for the radio bills and the satellite bills and the equipment bills and we have the unexpected expenses that Lightning took out a lot of our equipment here and we were replacing it and getting things back online.
It all takes money to do that and we don’t want to make you feel like we’re trying to get your money because we’re really not trying to do that. We’re trying to get the message out and it requires money to get it out. There’s no easy way to say that. And I think it’s part of God’s plan to partner together with believers. And you’ll share, I believe equally with us in whatever rewards this program will earn in heaven for the believer.
Salvation is a gift. We can’t buy it, can’t earn it, don’t deserve it, but it’s offered free to those that trust Christ. But after we’re saved, we can earn rewards by investing in our time and our talents and our treasures for the Lord. I hope you’ll consider Bibleline and pray for us and hopefully we’ll regularly support Bibleline and keep us on the air and expanding as we have been. Again, you can go to the internet and watch our Bible on TV programs as well as I hear the radio programs 24-7.
Our TV program is on direct TV at 630-day should be wide on Channel 3-2-1. And we hope you catch that as well as the many other presentations we have. Had a run, Christ is coming back soon and Lord willing we’ll be back tomorrow to talk to you on Bible on. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline Ministries of Tampa, Florida.
