The importance of this question can’t be overestimated in relation to both salvation and sanctification. The message of faith only and the message of commitment of life can’t both be the gospel; therefore, one of them is a false gospel and come under the curse of perverting the gospel or preaching another gospel.

Callers are already calling. The phone number is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. Alright. Well, you know the wonderful good news about the gospel is that Jesus Christ The Bible came as a Savior to save people that were not capable of saving themselves. That’s right. It’s amazing to me how many people are working to be saved when the Bible says you cannot save yourself.
It’s impossible. You can work all your life and be religious all your life and go to hell because that will not pay for your sin. Think about it. Think about it. Think about it. If it could have Christ didn’t need to die if you could have earned your way Christ death is not an alternate way. It is the only way Christ said in John 14 6 I am the way the truth and the life and no man cometh unto the Father, but by me So basically the Bible says that Isaiah 64 6 that our righteous deeds needs are filthy rags in the sight of God.
That’s right. It says all of our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. And so basically if you were to pile up all the best needs that you’ve ever done in your entire life and stand them before Almighty God, he would look down and say it’s simply a pile of filthy rags. It won’t help you get into heaven. But yet at the same time we have to be as righteous as God to be a living in heaven. The Bible says it requires God’s righteousness to be able to enter in.
But that righteousness is unattainable by us but is given as a gift to all those that would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. In Romans chapter 3 in verse 22 we have a wonderful verse that just basically says it is clearly as you will ever see it. That is Romans chapter 3 verse 22. It says even the righteousness of God which is by faith in Jesus Christ unto all and upon all of them that believe. For there is no difference for all of his sin and have come short of the glory of God.
Notice here the very righteousness of God which is the demand for us to be able to be eligible in our heaven is offered by faith in Jesus Christ unto everybody. But it’s only upon those that believe that is those that put their trust in Christ as Savior and it tells us everybody in the human race is in the same dilemma. There is no difference whether you are rich or poor or whatever your skin color or race or nationality might be or whether you are religious or not religious.
There is no difference. All have sinned. All have come short of the glory of God. And so every one of us are lost. Every one of us is in need of a Savior and all those that would put their trust in Jesus would receive the wonderful gift of everlasting life. I received it when I was eighteen. I’m absolutely sure now I’m going to heaven because the Bible gives us verses that tell us that we can actually know that we’re saved.
I love 1 John 5, 13. It says, these things God says, have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know K-N-O-W that you have, H-A-V-E, present tense verb that you have eternal life. You can know that you have it. You can know that you have eternal life. Isn’t that wonderful? Well, I know right now I have eternal life. Why? Because God said so. Where? First John 513. Look it up for yourself.
First John 513. And I hope that you You would place your trust in Christ. Receive his wonderful free gift of everlasting life and be assured of going to heaven because God says that you can know you have eternal life at the very moment. You trust Jesus as your Savior. That’s got to be very good news and every believer can be absolutely assured. Now if you believe you can lose it, you’re in trouble because you’re really saying, without may be really thinking it through, that you have to work your way to heaven.
You’re really saying that your future determines your salvation, that how you live your life determines your salvation. That’s works. And therefore, you’re making yourself a Savior, not Christ. And you’re trusting in how you’re going to live out your life to determine whether you make heaven or not. Don’t fall into that trap. Those who believe they can lose their salvation, I do not believe are saved. so you are asking for trouble. I know that there are people who are taught all their life, that they can lose it, and they believe that.
If you connect the dots and think it through, you’re saying that between now and death, whether you live the Christian life successfully or whether you don’t determine your salvation, that’s works by friend. That’s how you’re going to live out your life that saves you not Christ, death at Calvary. I am saved by the blood of Christ. I like the hymn writer said, what can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood. Nothing but the blood. I hope you have trusted Christ alone as your only hope of heaven and if you do, God saves you.
We are going to go to the phone lines. I am Dr. Hank Vince from the Bibleline. We have people waiting to get up on the air. We have our first caller and I will give you that phone number again real quick. 5763771, 1-800-5763771. And we’re going to go to Jeff in Venice, Florida. And Jeff, welcome to Bibleline You Are On The Air. Hey, Dr. Lindstrom, good morning. I got a question yesterday, Dr. Lindstrom. I just figured you could answer this better than me.
And I’ll just actually review. We asked me yesterday about what makes our religion right. You know, and I started going in to buy some certain truths and proxies to fill and basically she was asking about As it proves our religion and this you know in Christ the superior to say certain things But I figured I would get your commentary on and just replay it though. Well, I’d be happy to do that and thank you Jeff You know the first of all, I don’t really like to use that word religion the Word religion comes from two Latin words, re and lego, and it means to do something of self to bind back to God.
And all the religions of the world have that one common denominator of works where men and women are trying to do something of self to bind themselves back to God. But Christianity, or the Bible, teaches the opposite of religion, and that is it teaches that God did for men what men could not do for himself, that God provided the salvation, and we simply receive it as a gift, but it doesn’t matter which religion you choose in the world, all of them teach works.
That’s right whether it be Buddhism or Hinduism or Islam or any of the churches that have what I call the Christian religion, which is the counterfeit of the truth, they all teach works. Whereas the Bible says salvation is not of works, lest any man should boast or brag. So salvation is the gift of God. It’s not of works. So I think that’s a fundamental difference. And so there’s only one in the world that teaches salvation, not by works. And that is the true gospel of the scriptures, even Abraham.
What did he find out? Genesis 15, 6. Abraham believed the promise of God concerning Christ. And it was counted to him for righteousness, Genesis 15, 6. That incredible verse is quoted three times in the New Testament in the Book of Romans, in the Book of Galatians, and of all places in the Book of James. All three confirm that Abraham was saved by faith without works. And that’s the only way anybody could be saved. But also the Bible is an incredible book, none like it in all the world.
I like the challenge that God gives back in Isaiah. This is a good one where he challenges the religions of the world. He says in verse 21 of chapter 41 of Isaiah, produce your cause, sayeth the Lord, bring forth your strong reasons, sayeth the king of Jacob, let them bring forth and show us what shall happen. Let them show the former things what they be that we may consider them. All of this is a challenge to the religions of the world which cannot do these things.
What is God’s result in verse 24 of Isaiah 41? He says, Behold about all the religions of the world. You are of nothing and your work is of not and abomination is he that chooseeth you. There you have it. You notice here in this wonderful challenge, as he says, and we can challenge the religions of the world the same way. And that is give us the strongest reasons why we should believe in you. And God says you fall flat.
Let them bring forth verse 22 and show us what shall happen. That’s where they really fall flat. They cannot tell the future. The Bible is the only book that with accuracy tells the future in advance. Then it says let them show show the former things. It don’t even get that right. The Bible tells us that God created the universe out of nothing. The concept that Einstein later brought to us that energy can be converted to matter and vice versa.
But if you read the Vedas, the writings of the Hindus, they said the earth was triangular in shape, made of seven layers, one layer of fire, another layer of water, another layer of sugar, another layer of honey and so on, seven layers, and it was triangular in shape. Obviously it was clearly wrong, and so they can’t even tell the past correctly, and most all the world religions really fail big time whether they talk about our origins, our past, or whether they talk about the future they fail.
Verse 23, the challenge goes on and says, show the things that are to come hereafter. We may know that you are Gods or that you are a true religion, yea, do good or do evil that we may be dismayed and behold it together. Verse 24 says, you are of nothing to all the world religions and your work is of not. And abomination is he that chooses you. So you can choose any religion you want, it will take you to hell.
But Jesus is the way to heaven. And the Bible and what Christ taught is the exact opposite of religion. Jeff I hope that helps. But definitely there is no contest here. The Bible is the only book that can meet these challenges. And the whole life of Christ is foretold in the Old Testament telling he to be born a Bethlehem born of a virgin and how he would grow up and die, how he would die by crucifixion and I would be buried in a rich man’s tomb, how he would come back from the dead and so on.
All of that is told to us clearly in advance in the Bible. Well thanks for that call. If you would like to call in, the number is 1-800-576-3771. That number again is 1-800-576-3771. Jim, in Tampa, Florida calls in, leaves an off-air question. He says, is there going to be a tragic event on August 22, 2006. Do you know anything about this? Well, that’s obviously tomorrow. And I don’t know whether there’ll be a tragic event or not, but we do know.
The president of Iran believes the Messiah of Islam will come, perhaps, on that date. But he will probably come if there is a Holocaust and a need for him to come and and bind the Muslim people together against the Jews and against all other unbelievers of those that are infidels or not of the Muslim faith and destroy them. So it could be if he has a nuclear weapon, he might explode it tomorrow. Or he might attack Israel tomorrow to do something to provoke the return of their Messiah, the amin of Islam.
And so tomorrow could be a scary day. We’ll have to wait and see what he does. But it’s speculated that it could be really a day that will live in infamy as we think about Pearl Harbor. Look out, watch the news tomorrow, we’ll see. All fear, Rick in Pinellas Park says, Gershan Solomon came to raise some money for the rebuilding of the temple. Where in the Bible does it say that we should do this as Christians? Well it doesn’t.
It doesn’t say it at all. But obviously the temple must be rebuilt and this is a temple we believe will be the temple that Christ will return to it is second coming. I don’t believe that it is harmful. In fact the Bible gives a promise in Genesis 12, 3, those that will bless the Jew will be blessed of God. those that cursed the Jew will be cursed of God. So to bless the Jew and assisting them to rebuild their temple and to help them in any way, obviously to bless the Jew would bring a blessing upon yourself and of course upon our country as we as a country bless the Jewish people.
Thank you Rick for that question. I hope that helps a little bit. Justin in Brandon, Florida, said he was watching a 60-minute special on the Iranian president and he comments on how the Antichrist should or could come out of the Middle East. Well, I don’t think the Iranian president says the Antichrist will come out of the Middle East. Why do you believe the Antichrist comes out of the United States? And that’s because Daniel seems to imply that very strongly.
In Daniel 7, 8, it talks about the 10 nations of Europe coming together in the End Times and how that there would be an 11th nation that would have been birthed by Europe and the only country in the world. That is younger than, stronger than as Daniel 7 8 describes and has been birthed by Europe is the United States of America. Most of our people came from Europe and we are basically European or Roman in our background and culture and this is the country out of which the leader of which is called the Little Horn as well as this country is the Little Horn that 11th nation.
Therefore, he has to come out of the United States of America, according to Daniel 7, verse 8. If you have a question or like to call in, the number is 1-800-576-3771. We are going to begin to, in another month or so, webcast our morning worship service here from the Calvary Community Church where our pastor, we’ve had so many people tell us that you have not been able to find a sound Bible teaching church. So in the meantime, while you search, we are going to make it available that you can attend our worship service by way of the internet.
So hopefully that will bring joy to you. A lot of people are telling us that they are really excited about that and we hope that you will enjoy that. Also, right now, you can watch our television programs and our radio programs. You can listen to those by going to our website BibleLineMinistries.org. And the best way to do is click on that television set up in the right-hand top corner and you’ll be connected to the page that will tell you what to do.
All right, Tom in Temple Terrace Florida just called him. He says, will there be flesh beings during the millennium or just spirit beings? Well obviously there will be flesh beings that people that get saved during the tribulation period who do not get killed during the judgments during the tribulation period will be invited to walk right into the millennium and be the subjects and they’ll still be in their mortal bodies and they will have children and their children will grow up and marry and have children.
So there will be many, many humans in physical flesh bodies during the millennium. Thank you for that question. We have Nila in Lake Mary, Florida and in Acts 1516 her sister watched 1516, her sister watched the local preacher on television and talked about Jesus supervising the rebuilding of the temple. Do you agree with this? No, I don’t, but I do believe when he comes back and cleanses that temple from being desecrated by the Antichrist that Jesus will refurbish it and the splendor, according to the book of Hagai Chapter 2 of this third temple will be greater than the splendor of the first temple which is built by Solomon.
So hopefully that will be of chapter 2. Vinnie in Hudson, Florida says as he leaves an offer a question, is Enoch a picture of the rapture? Yes, I believe so. Before the flood, Enoch was caught up and never died, and then the flood came. And so I believe that we will be caught up. And then the judgments of the tribulation period will follow. And I think there’s a wonderful parallel there, and that Enoch is a picture of the rapture.
We have Nancy down in Inglewood, Florida. And Nancy, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hello, Catherine. Really, I think you’re sending confusion into the camp. And I really think you’re misinterpreting Daniel two five seven nine ten he died gives the interpretation that the end-time beef is going to be Babylon, Miesle Persia, Grisha. Out of the four horns of Alexander the Great, his generals, the The Syrian general is the one who defiled the temple, etc. And it’s repeated in Revelation.
The short horn from the seventh kingdom, Rome, the little horn was Hitler. He tried to rebuild Rome and he’s been destroyed. But the one after that is the eighth beast. And that is the false prophet is Mohammed. The beast is Islam. It is a black plague that is covering our whole earth right now. We have shots being fired in the Valley of Megito today. Babylon is falling. We are right there for the Feast of Trump that’s September 22.
Well, it sounds like we agree about the September 22nd, but I don’t agree with the rest of that. We’ll have to take some time and look at it, but we’re coming up on our break right now, Nancy. So I won’t be able to do that. But obviously we have jumped far off the course that I believe the Scriptures teach about the end time prophecies that the United States is a major player. And of course, Islam will be a major player.
And Russia and China will be. But right now we’re going to go to our break and then we’re going to come back and do Bible in Part 2. Nancy, thank you for bringing that up. We’ll take a look at some of those passages and talk about them when we get a chance here if we can today. We will. And don’t change that radio dial. Stay right here. We’ll be right back. We’ll do Bible in Part 2. Don’t go away.
Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. 800-576-3771. I’m Dr. Englund Serman. It’s great to be with you. Thanks for tuning in today. We do enjoy getting to meet our audience. I love when I get a chance to meet some of you. If you ever get a chance to come into the Tampa Bay area on business or vacation or just coming over to see us, you’re welcome to come by and visit our Bible and Resource Center every day Monday through Friday from 8 in the morning till about 4.30 in the afternoon and also you can come by on a worship day and join us for worship and visit with us.
We’d love to get a chance to be with you and meet you and become acquainted with you. Thank you very, very much. We had some couples come up from South Florida, from Fort Lauderdale and from Pompano this past weekend and we certainly enjoyed getting to meet them. And thank you all of you who come by. We just are humbled by the fact that you would drive a long distance or come a great distance to come and see us here at Bible on.
We had a wonderful baptism this weekend. We had 44 that we immersed in the lake in believers baptism as a testimony of the fact that they were cleansed of their sin by the blood of Jesus. everybody was really excited. We had some that couldn’t wait to be plunged underneath the water and give testimony to their faith in that way. We’ll do another one and if you would like to be included in our baptism, we certainly would invite you to do that if it’s possible for you to be in the area and come.
We’d probably do that the third Sunday in September. Please remember us in your prayers and if you can send a gift we certainly can use more partners that will assist us in keeping Bible light on the air. My church cannot pay the bills because this is Bible light is bigger than my church and we don’t have the funds ourselves. We don’t have anybody underwriting the program. We’re totally dependent upon our listeners and thank God that he’s raised up wonderful people just like you who enjoy Bible and would like to see it continue and it’s your gifts that keep us on the air.
You can give a gift by credit card over the phone or you can call our operators and get the address or have a million envelope with the address pinned on it and send the gift in by check the Bible on. But pray for us and if you can give a monthly gift a regular gift would really be wonderful and I will trust that God will supply, maybe through you. And I know you’ll be blessed for doing so. We’re going to rejoin the stations now that have been on break.
So keep your radio dial tuned right where it is, and we’re going to come back and do Bible Eye in Part 2. If your station doesn’t carry, go to the internet. You’ll catch the full program. Here we go. Would you like to call Bible Eye and ask Dr. Lynch from a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3700. 3-7-7-1. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom.
Alright, we’re back for a break. This is Bible and I’m Dr. Englund. It’s great to be with you. And we had a wonderful weekend. We had Gershund Solomon here Thursday night, have last week, and a wonderful crowd. And we had a good time. We have now a 2 DVD set available set available in a nice jacket that will give you the full coverage of the A very good evening event with Gershaun Solomon, including my part and also Gershaun’s part.
His video presentation is right on there with excellent sound and video quality. It’s a tour of the Temple Mount with Gershaun Solomon leading the way. That tune CD series in a nice jacket clearly telling what the event was all about. forgive the truth. of $30 you can have that and be as though you were here if you couldn’t come. Also we have a four CD series for gift of $20 that gives you the audio of the radio interview last Thursday with Kirshan and also the two and a half hours of presentation the audio on CD for gift of $20 you can have the four CDs that cover the entire evening plus the radio interview.
By the way, we had a baptism this weekend. We had 44 people that we baptized by a merchant in LA, giving testimony to their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. What an exciting group. They were just so excited to give their testimony in this way and be obedient to the Lord in water baptism. We’ll be doing another one the third Sunday in September. If there’s anybody that is interested in being a part of that, you can call our church office and get your name on the list.
will include you in this beautiful opportunity to give testimony outdoors in a lake and will immerse you as a testimonial of the fact even washed of your sin by the blood of Christ. We thank all of you who pray for and give the Bible any other ones who keep us on the year. We couldn’t do it without you and we do thank God for every one of you who make Bible impossible. Also, we want you to know we have lots of CDs and DVDs ready to go here that will help you in your growth and maybe teaching others.
You might want to call and ask for a resource sheet or go to my website and look at the descriptions and the pictures of the things that we have to offer and that’s BibleLineMinistries.org or .com and you can browse through all the things you can order and order them directly online. We now have Adam in Tampa. The fun number by the way is 1-800-576-3771. Adam and Tampa welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. Adam? Yes. Okay. You have a question for us.
Yes, I have Yeah, he was not saved and Peter clearly tells him that he had neither part nor lot in this matter. The word matter there in the Greek is Lagos and it’s the same word used to describe Christ in John 1-1. In the beginning was the word that is Lagos and the word was with God. The Lagos was with God and the Lagos was God. And Peter tells him that you have no part in this vlogos, this Jesus, and he was lost.
No, he never got saved. What he did was he believed Philip was a better miracle worker than he was, and he wanted to somehow get Philip’s power, but he never became a believer in Jesus Christ. And his error was, Peter said you need to repent of this wickedness of your heart. He thought he could buy the gift of God and the gift of God is salvation. He thought he could buy it with money and we can’t buy it. We can’t earn it We have to receive it as a gift from the hand of God through Christ death and shed blood The reason why and he’s that better.
I want to say if you’re really carefully it says he believed Philip He doesn’t say he believed in Christ and So he believed Philip was a better miracle worker. He was a sorcerer and He never obviously trusted the Lord and Peter clearly spells that out later and says that you have neither partner lot in this log on. You need to realize it was a gift by simply trusting Christ. Thank you very much. You’re very welcome. Thank you for calling in.
That was Adam from Tampa, Florida. We have Frank from Fort Myers, Florida. Frank, welcome to Bibleline Year on the Year. Hello. Hello Frank, you’re on the Year. Oh, okay. In the past I was just watching TV last night in this purpose-driven church. It seemed like it’s really taken off and they did mention nothing about a Bible but on his own book. It seemed like a lot of wealthy people are really… Well yeah, the Rick Warren purpose-driven. We have a couple of books that expose it.
It’s really a lot of new age teaching. We have two books. Who’s driving the purpose-driven church? The other one deceived on purpose. And you’ll find that the illustrations that Rick Warren takes 40 days determining a purpose, all of them are charade because none of them bring about any purpose at all. He just really takes and twists the scriptures to fit his own end. But basically they are a new age and their gospel is one of continuance that you begin relationship with Christ and then you have to continue that relationship if you’re going to wind up in heaven.
So basically you have to keep on keeping on and if you don’t you’ll be lost and you’ll go to hell. So it’s a confused mess and there’s very little Bible. In fact they don’t recommend the Bible you know very much in all the the new purpose driven churches don’t have a place for you to bring your Bible whatever they want you to see. They use a quote from one of the newer bad translations and put it up on the jumbo-trom for you to read so they think whatever translation seems to fit what they want to share and a lot of them are just following the Rick Warren program so it’s really like a franchise and you’re really getting Rick Warren reheated in the microwave and served at the congregation.
Well I thought the way he presents up going to Rwanda and trying to bring peace he’s going to go to North Korea. I was thinking maybe he could be the beef power. Well, some people are already speculating things like that. I don’t know yet about it. But yeah, I think that it’s one of those things that are like a fad. I think people are going for it. And amazingly though, a lot of churches start off that way. But then they bomb out.
There’s several in our area that are now in the verge of bankruptcy because they have gone the purpose driven around. Oh, I see. So it’s not always a success story. But thank you, Frank. Thank you. That is Frank down in Fort Myers, listening to Bible and we invite you to tell your friends wherever they might live in the world that they can tune in by the line by going to the website and catch it 24 hours a day, seven days a week, anywhere.
We have Lillian in Tampa, Florida and Lillian, welcome to my online. Yes. Good morning, Dr. Hank. It’s been a long time. I’ve been wanting the Lord of telling him to please bring me down there. As soon as possible, I can visit you. I really want to talk to you. I need to talk to you. But how has your daughter been and everything in your family? We’re all doing good. Do you have a Bible question? Yes. I just wanted to ask about, my mother had told me about where these women in the church, when they were adorned, and you know, they put on even bracelets on their ankles and stuff like that.
That’s, you know, a lot of modern things right now, you know, and it’s also used in witchcraft sensory of people and things like that. And she said it was a nice AI. No, not an AI. Yeah, AI. that’s almost like Isaac and I think it was chapter three but I don’t see it here because I say it’s pretty long. I don’t understand it so if you can clarify that for me. Well it’s not about the last days and it talks about how that basically children and women would kind of take charge and we see that today with the women’s movement and we We see the teens or the young kids oppressing the older folks and all that is a part of Bible prophecy.
It says here in verse 4, I will give the children to be their princes and the babies shall rule over them and the people shall be oppressed, everyone by another and everyone by his neighbor and the child shall behave himself proudly against the older person. the base person against the honorable we see all that that talks about homosexuality where it says in verse nine the show of their countenance that witness against them and they declared their sin as some they hide it not Woe unto their soul, for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
And so it talks about that. And then later in the chapter it talks about all the different things that they would wear the rings and those jewels verse 21 and the changeable suits of apparel and the glasses verse 23, the fine linen, the hoods, the veils and etc. And basically the focus is, not on the Lord, but more on self and displaying self rather than trying to present Christ. So it’s a wonderful chapter and we don’t have time to dissect it verse by verse, but it’s a good one to ponder over and ask yourself are you a woman that is a godly woman who who wants to let the inner new person that you have in Christ shine through or you’re trying to just catch people’s attention by the outward decorating of your body with all the different types of jewelry and things you can do to dress up and become an attention
get her to the crowd around you. So I hope that helps Lillian and thank you for that call. We are catching a number of off-air questions here today. We have off-air Charles in Perry, Florida, and that’s right up where the Florida seems to kind of make a curve toward the West toward the Panhandle. And he says he’s doing a study on repentance for a class and he says that he looked up repentance in the UBS lexicon and it says turn from sin and change of heart.
The Lindell Scott lexicon says it means a change of way. Gingrich says remorse or afterthought or turn about how do you get change of mind for repentance. Well I believe the other ones are wrong. The Greek word is very plain. It’s metanoia. META means change. Noya means mind. The two Greek words together, metanoia, mean a change of mind. And I’m not the only one that feels this way. I happen to use the Scofield Bible. Copyrighted back in 1909. And there in the footnote, in Acts 17, Dr.
Scofield says, The Greek word for repent is metanoia or metaneo and it means a change of mind and that when you believe on Christ that change of mind is included in saving faith Because whenever you trust Christ you change your mind from whatever you were previously trusting in to trusting in Christ so I think what has happened is that They are really looking more at the English word, repent, which does mean turn from sin and change of heart or change of way, but not the Greek word.
So this is just a wonderful delight for Satan because he’s been able to add works to salvation. And when you read the context of most every time the word repent occurs, you can see clearly that it is talking about a change of mind not a turning from sin. In the Old Testament it is God who repents 86% of the time. So if it means to turn from sin in the Old Testament then God, who is the holy God who is not capable of sinning, is turning from sin 86% of the time.
In other words, of the 43 times the word repent occurs in the Old Testament, 37 of those times it is God who does the repenting, not man, only six times does man repent in the Old Testament. Kind of interesting, but certainly food for thought. Charles, I recommend you go to the internet and go to my website and check out about three or four papers on repentance. And I have also quoted lots of wonderful reputable Bible teachers, everybody from Luzper Schaeffer to Charles Ryrie, to Dwight Pentecost, to some of the best-known Bible teachers in the country.
They all agree that repent means a change of mind and does not mean turn from sin. Okay, we have Brad in Clearwater Florida and Brad welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Good morning pastor Lindstrom. I’m in my truck this morning. So I’ll know you have with a lady or Heather being the little horn and I didn’t catch the whole thing about to listen to your response. Well, we really don’t know but we do know it is in Islam a significant date and possibly the day that the Muslim Messiah will appear and that’s what the president of our nation.
ran is talking about but he generally they say he won’t come unless there’s some kind of a crisis a Holocaust and so the world is worried that he may provoke such a thing by maybe attacking Israel with rockets tomorrow or if he has a nuclear bomb detonating that nuclear bomb and killing innocent people we’ll just wait and see nothing might happen who knows but it’s some speculation it’s out there some of the national news media have picked up on it and talked about the potential threat of tomorrow what is going to happen I don’t know maybe nothing but thank you for that call and we’ll we’ll have to see we’re gonna go now to Helen in Brandon Florida and Helen welcome to Bible and you are on the air.
yeah i don’t how you doing good quick question that you twenty seven uh… that kept twenty seven first and believe it’s forty seven forty eight when jesus on the cross and he was calling it before i said you are there and they ran a game of uh… sponging vinegar what do you know sponging vinegar because it was uh… kind of like a uh… painkiller Okay. All right. Well, thank you so much. You’re very welcome. Yeah, it was at the very point where Christ was really in great deal of pain.
As you can imagine, here’s a fiction must have been a very painful torturous way to die. And Christ did that for you and for me. We don’t have Jeff in Venice, Florida. And Jeff, welcome to Bibleline. Hello again, Dr. Hank. You were talking a little while ago about Simon the Sorcerer, and I had just written a report on this for Moody, and I think I might be the only one, and only Christian alive, I think he was saved. I’ll give you the reasons why I just want you to go ahead and comment on him, if you will.
If you look at the text before it talks about Simon believed, it uses the same exact terminology for a group of believers that Philip was speaking to, who indeed also did. but i don’t know if you were saved either i don’t think i said to peter john got there and let them to christ then they received all the spirit they didn’t get all the spirit because they were not safe my one of my one of my point in my report was that the problem i don’t know how philip would go ahead and baptize these people if they didn’t know the true message of christ well he uh…
he apparently didn’t uh… have the discernment that peter john did when they came they realized that these guys did not have the Holy Spirit and according to Romans 8 and 9 when you compare this to the clear doctrinal teaching of the epistles it says if any man have not the spirit of Christ he’s none of you so they were not saved and they didn’t receive their salvation nor the Holy Spirit until Peter and John got there okay yeah and if you read verse 12 carefully it says when they believed Philip and of course it He doesn’t say they believe on Christ.
I think that’s the key. I think they recognize that Philip could do greater miracles than Simon the Sorcerer could do in the way of miracles. So they just said, we’ve got a better magician here to follow around. And they went through all the ritual but never really became saved. The apostles came down and they had the gift of the sermon. And they obviously, I think, recognized. Something similar happens in Acts 19 when you have these dozen disciples of John the Baptist and Paul asked them a couple good questions.
It turned out that they were not saved either and I believe they got saved and received the Holy Spirit when Paul led unto Christ. Right. When it says they believe Philip, I was reading into that as they believe Philip’s message about Christ. I’ll go, I didn’t get a very good gradle. Good great on the report anyway. And I had read into the rebuking of Simon because he was trying to purchase the… I hope if you have in and access you’ll go and to my articles I’ve written on my website and download or read the one on Simon’s Save.
I notice in verse 20 Peter says to him, my money perish with you because I was thought the gift of God may be purchased with money which is the Holy Spirit or salvation or basically equivalent. but then it says verse 21, thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter. If you look for all those Greek words, it’s pretty powerful here because the word matter is the Greek word, Lagos, which is the name for Christ. So he’s saying you don’t have any part with Christ.
And he needed to change his mind and become saved. And of course, I don’t think Simon ever did. Well, I appreciate it, Dr. Hain. Thank you very much. All right. Thank you, Jeff, in Venice, Florida, who admitted he didn’t get a very great on that paper i don’t believe the people or uh… simon were saved i think they got saved the people got saved when uh… peter john arrived and then uh… simon never got saved he thought well i’d like to buy this and he uh…
found out that that’s not the way you get salvation we now have up john in linkman for on the line john welcome to my money on the air Yeah, hi, Dr. Hainte. I’m really hoping you can help me out with something. I know, from listening to your teaching and from things that I read in the Bible and the word, that a person cannot earn their salvation. There’s no work that a person can do. And I understand that it’s a free gift of God.
What my problem is, since I came to no Christ years ago, I stumbled back and forth out into the world, back to God, out into the world, back to God. and I’ve come to a place in my life recently where I have truly from my heart and mind repented and not only just made Jesus a Savior, but made him Lord of my life. I mean his rules are what goes and my problem is, is I get that voice in my head that has been enlightened by the Word so on and so forth.
I’m sure you’ve been. But it’s great because not only did I sin but I sinned while knowing who Jesus was. Well, Hebrew 6 is not saying you can lose your salvation. It’s saying that if you get away from serving the Lord, which apparently you did, that you don’t go back and become saved again. You need to go back and start serving again. So the Lord has never cast you out. That’s a promise in John 6, 37. He says, him to come with the me, I will in no wise cast down, no matter what you did.
He certainly wants you to begin to serve him again and there’s no need why you could not get going again for the Lord and And that’s what you need to do the key of the Christian life is obedience and Unless you’re obedient. You’re not going to experience the joy of the fruit of the Spirit You know in relations five it says walk in the Spirit and When you do you’ll not fulfill the lust the flesh and then you’ll have the through the Spirit manifested in your life which is love and joy and peace and happiness and long suffering and gentleness and weakness and so on.
All of that will become evident in your life as you begin to be obedient. So you just need to start being obedient again but there’s no possibility of losing your salvation anywhere in the Bible. The following way in Hebrew 6 is talking about falling from your steadfastness which is exactly what you’re going through right now. Your confidence, your assurance is what you have fallen from. You cannot fall from salvation. The verse is really saying it’s impossible for you to go back and become saved again to be renewed under that change of mind that repentance occurs when you get saved.
So you can’t do that again, but you can start serving again. It says in verse 10 of Hebrew 6, God has done unrighteous to forget your labor of love. He will reward you for whatever you do for him. So you need to get cranked again. And we find that feeling follows your obedience. If you are obedient, you are going to find that you will feel confident again and God will bless you and you will be very pleased you’ve made that decision.
Okay, why I really hope that I can gain that confidence back to go to my website and read the sheet that I’ve named it quite cleverly Hebrews chapter six verse four through six. Okay, and read that and he’ll help you. All right. All right. Bye. Bye. I’ve been it so that people could find that easily. But a lot of people have a question about that passage and you can find that under my articles on my website and that probably will help you.
I hope everybody is listening, trust Jesus as Savior if you haven’t, you can just tell the Lord Lord on the center. I don’t understand much about the Bible, but I believe Jesus died for me. I made my sin that in full was buried in Rosigan from the dead the moment you do. God saves you. And we have got to run. Time is running out, but we’ll be back tomorrow. And we hope you’ll listen all week. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming.
