The phone number is 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. We have James in Tampa and he asked about Matthew 1112, where the violent take it by force.
I hear this voice is used by the faith movement. Please explain the faith movement. The faith movement puts faith in faith rather than faith in the Bible. This whole movement invents things as they go along. What Christ is really talking about in Matthew 1112 is the kingdom that He had come to promise to take over the earth and set up a kingdom of peace on earth, and those that were unsaved would try to establish a kingdom like that by military force, and they take it by force or by violence.
But Christ will come back and set it up a different way, and that is when he comes to the second coming, the whole earth will come into his charge. were those I think that one to have Christ raise up an army at his time and take over the world then and deliver the Jews from underneath the thumb of the Roman Empire. Off the year April in Tampa calls in and she says, is it wrong to celebrate Christmas and Easter?
My kids and husband want to and it’s hard to fight them off. I don’t see a problem, of course I don’t like to use the word Easter, I call it Resurrection Sunday and i celebrate uh… the resurrection of christ again from the dead esters actually the name of the mother of bail and i certainly don’t want to celebrate her uh… she was a sex goddess and the goddess of fertility and uh… her son uh… was bail you see in the old testament as astoroth …and Bail, astrothing the mother, if you shorten it up a little bit, it’s Ash-tar and then the English form is Eastar or Easter and she’s the mother, Bail.
And so that’s certainly not what we do but Christ did rise from the dead and I want to celebrate that for sure. And Christmas obviously Christ was born came into this world. We just have the wrong date and there are some pagan things celebrated along with that. I don’t sell that. I do not care. I am not sure. I do not know if you are going to be able to do that anyway. So that is what we do. I am going to be able to do that.
celebrate Santa Claus. Santa, by the way, if you take the letter N and slide it to the N, you have Satan. That’s right. And I think he has kind of replaced Christ when the celebration really is supposedly about the birth of the Savior, God who came and took on human flesh. You know, when you read Luke 2, 11, it says unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior which is Christ the Lord. And that’s what Christmas is all about.
And I celebrate Christmas twice. I celebrate it when I believe Christ was really born in October and again, of course, in December. And I don’t think we’ll ever change those dates or get everybody to agree on that. But we can use it as an opportunity to proclaim Christ. And I don’t think it’s a problem at all. I would just surely make it a Christian event, both Christmas celebrating the birth of our Savior, God coming and taking on human flesh in the city of Bethlehem, and then the death of the burial of the resurrection of Christ, and on resurrection Sunday celebrating Christ coming back from the dead.
Every year I try to get people to drop the E-word and to use the R-word, the E-word being Easter which is a pagan name, the mother of Baal, and to get rid of that word all together from our vocabulary and just use the R word, Resurrection. Every year I always tell people happy Resurrection. I call that Sunday, Resurrection Sunday. You see, well, what about the candy? We call it Resurrection Candy. What about the special music? Well, We call it resurrection music.
What about the special dresses that the ladies might wear? Well, I call them resurrection dresses. I mean, it’s just a little word adjustment, and we’re right on target celebrating the death, barrel, and resurrection of Christ in the spring and his birth in the wintertime. And so celebrate it. But just keep it Christ-focused, and you’ll just do fine. John in Charlotte, Michigan calls in, And he says during the 1967 war, have you ever heard of any strange events during that battle that couldn’t have been God leading a hand against the Muslims?
Definitely in the 48 war, and in these wars, you certainly see the hand of God in allowing Israel to win, and God has brought them back in that land for a purpose. God is not done with Israel. And he obviously said that he would bring them back. I love Jeremiah chapter 30. I love the whole book of Jeremiah, but Jeremiah chapter 30, God says I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers and they shall possess it.
It doesn’t say maybe, it doesn’t say perhaps, it doesn’t say if the conditions are right, the Bible never does that. The Bible is really an amazing book in that way because so many secular books I remember in college would always qualify their statements because they didn’t want to be caught off guard. But it says here in Jeremiah 30, verse 3, for lo the days come, sayeth the Lord, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and of Judah, sayeth the Lord, and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers and they shall possess it.
So it’s going to happen and it has happened and definitely I think God was fighting on the side of Israel. But Israel is going to go through some very dark days as we believe the tribulation period are really the last seven years of the Old Testament and God is going to be preparing Israel to receive their Messiah. I believe through those trials and troubles that they will go through which they haven’t seen the worst yet. I believe that once the rapture happens, it will get really tough.
And as Jesus said in Matthew 24, Israel will be hated above all nations. We already see that happening. That shouldn’t be true of us as Christians. We should love the Jew. In fact, we owe them a debt. They’re the ones that brought us our Messiah. They’re the ones that brought us our Bible. And we have our roots in the Old Testament and in the nation of Israel that brought forth Jesus who came out of the tribe of Judah. So we need to obviously bring the gospel back to them.
You know, all the first Christians were Jews and all of the… that whole first generation, pretty much, which is way back at the beginning of Christianity, and of course Christ was God who took on Jewish flesh. So in any case, I hope that helps a little bit with your question. We have Mike in St. Petersburg, and Mike, welcome to Bible on New Year on the Year. Hey, Dr. Hank, I’ve been thinking about the Monday I think it was. Yeah.
With the course of a BIA. Yes. And all the 24 courses and I’m trying to look up and see where you’re finding and then they, other three families would take those and then. Are you reading back there in the first chronicles 24? Yeah, that’s where you had told me to look at. Yeah, right. And so I’m wondering how do you get that they it up on the internet, say that they’d run at once on the eighth week and then once 30.
I don’t know where that information is coming from, but I’ll have to go back and reread that chapter and address it again. I don’t want to do it today. But basically, I’ve read quite a number of people that were quite in agreement with what I was saying about the consecutive two-week periods. But in any case, I believe he was born in October from other hints in the Bible too. I’ll try to look up that for you and maybe we’ll talk about it next week or sometime.
I’d appreciate that you’re looking for trying, you know, I’ve been trying to prove the fact to my father because I still believe which I believe that he was born in October as well. Yeah. Well, I just can’t. Oh, okay. Well, anyway, you know, that’s not a major point, but it’s interesting. And certainly we know from history that Bales birthday was celebrated on December 25th. That was a, that’s a, that’s a, that’s a fact. You’re in my attend what you had explained.
They really made an impact on him. Good. But I just don’t think you’ve pushed him over the edge yet. Well, most importantly, as you push him over the edge to trust Christ, that’s… Well, that’s what I’m trying to head to. Yeah, okay. But, I appreciate your time there. You’re very welcome. Thank you for calling. And that was from, I think, Clearwater, Florida. You’re welcome to call in if you like, and the number is 1-800-576-3771, and I hope that you’ll give us a call.
We have a question here from Tony in Tampa. He says, you stated that Noah’s son committed a sexual act on his father, but Leviticus 18-7 says differently than he explained. Well verse seven there says the nakedness of thy father or the nakedness of thy mother thou shalt not uncover. She is thy mother, not shalt not uncover her nakedness. The nakedness of thy father’s wife thou shalt not uncover. It doesn’t say anything different. This really is talking about having a sexual relationship with them and when you have sex with them, you are uncovering their nakedness.
This is kind of like a veiled, for example, in chapter 18, verse 17 and 18, it says, Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, need a shelter, take her son’s daughter, or her daughter’s daughter to uncover her nakedness, for they are her near kin’s woman, is wickedness. Neither she’ll take a wife to her sister, to vex her to uncover her nakedness, and be signed the other in her lifetime. And thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness as long as she is put apart for uncleanness.
So while she was going through her menstrual cycle. And so on, you weren’t to uncover an agent that you weren’t to have sex during the menstrual cycle. So it’s all clear here, it’s all about sex. And one of the sons of Noah had a homosexual act on his father, and that was what the curse was all about. And Leviticus does absolutely support that. And that’s what the uncovering of Noah’s nakedness was. Thank you again for that call. Hopefully we brought a little bit more clarification to you.
We have Wally in Tampa, Florida calling in. He says, the blood was spent after the physical death of Jesus. He stated it was finished before he physically died. What part did the spent debt that was already paid earlier? I’m not too sure what you find to drive out here, but Jesus paid our sin debt and full the cross and he obviously died in order to accomplish that. And then after he took that blood and took it up to heaven and applied it on the mercy seat, it’s obviously clear from the scripture that it is the blood of Christ that washes us from our sin.
And him writer got it right when he said, what can wash away my sin? And the answer being nothing but the blood. Nothing but the blood, not baptism, not church membership, not the mass, not penance, not confirmation, not living the Christian life. The only thing that can wash away your sin or mine is the blood of Christ. And when you trust Christ, your sins become washed away. In Hebrews it tells us without the shedding of blood, there is no remission for sin.
So Christ shed his blood in order to pay for our sin. Now, obviously he bled the whole time when he was on the cross and he bled from the wounds in his hands and his feet and also from the crown of thorns upon his brow and from the scourging on his back as it was ripped open. And we find that ultimately the soldier appears to decide and everything that was left in the way of whatever blood was in his body then poured out upon the ground.
And the answer is one day you’ll get to heaven and actually maybe have got account for every drop of blood if you want to do that. But it’s clearly his blood that we shed that washed away our sin. the important point and I think I would just stay with that. We’re going to go to Dave in Plant City and Dave, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning Dr. Hank, how are you this morning? It’s good Dave. I was studying a little bit about repenting and I just wanted to bring up the point I don’t think I’ve heard you mention that you might have but when I was looking in the Old Testament in my concordance it was saying basically in Genesis that the Repentment God was sorry like when he created man and man fell and then these Ezekiel that meant to turn away from idols when
Ezekiel was speaking their repent of the idols. Well if I agree with you it’s never ever said anything about turning from sin and I just wanted to point that out and see what you had to say about it. Okay now the one in Ezekiel is a totally different word That word, Shuv, is translated over 600 times to turn or turn away from, but that should have never been translated into the word repent. The word nature, which is the typical word that is translated in repent in the Old Testament, is a word that means sorrow or regret, but is made equivalent to metanoia in the New Testament, is it?
It is a change of mind. it’s a sorrow or a lamentation as well. It says it repented God that he made man on the earth just before the flood. Obviously it grieved him as he saw the world become so corrupt that he had to make the decision to kill all life on the planet except for those that were spared in the ark of the animals and of knowing his family. So definitely The Hebrew word is nature. Don’t pay attention to those in the look of Ezekiel.
You need to look those up and you’ll find I think they were looking for variety there and they just translated it several different ways. But that word shuv, S-H-U-V in the Hebrew means to turn. And that should never have been translated in the English word repent. It does cause some confusion. So hopefully that helps Dave and thank you again for calling in. This is Bibleline and Dr. Hank Lindstrom and it’s great to be with you. Go with me to Israel.
We’ll be leaving March 12th of Monday. Coming back March 23rd, a Friday. It will be trip number 14 for me. We would love to have you join us for that trip. So in any case, we think we are going to have a super time and that will be coming up pretty soon. We need to get you deposited right away. You can get the information by calling our operators or going to my website and clicking on Bibleline news and you can pull down the full itinerary and you can pull down a sign up.
and as long as we have your $100 deposit, we can begin the process and then 90 days out from the trip, that will be December 12th. That’s when we need to get half of your money. And then 45 days out, which will be sometime later the end of January, you can get the balance and we’ll be ready to go. We have Carl in Tampa, Forti, calling in and asking about Mark chapter 16 verses 15 through 18. Who is he talking to?
And of course he was talking to the disciples there after the resurrection and he talks there about five different spectacular gifts and He says here in his question Carl says are there any Thing in scripture where someone drank poison and is any of this happening now? I believe no all those gifts have ceased. It’s interesting to me that people today pick and choose They don’t pick the handling of deadly serpents. Now in Acts, you do see Paul gathering fire, wood for the fire, and the serpent leaps out of the fire and latches onto his arm, and it was a deadly viper, and they expected that Paul would drop dead on the spot, but he lived, and then they thought he was a god.
Of course Paul said he was just a human being like everybody else, but obviously that was in effect back in those days, but the snake handlers today often die. You read about it in a paper where a preacher or assistant preacher is handling the snakes in their churches up in sometimes West Virginia and other places, they die. And there’s, I think, some in Georgia and the mountains and some places where they still handle the snakes. But I think those gifts of all ceased, and I wouldn’t encourage you to try drinking a deadly drink, which I believe has ceased, but I’m sure that that was operative at the very beginning, including healing and tongues.
I believe all those have ceased. And so you might want to obviously take a close look at scripture and how that these kind of drifted off. If you get further and further in the Book of Acts, you have less and less miracles. And as you get further and further in the Book of Acts, there’s only three mentions of tongues. And the last one is over there in chapter 19 and then it’s gone and it’s not really in the epistles of Paul or the other writings except for First Corinthians where he’s correcting the Corinthian believers for the misuse of times.
But otherwise the gift just disappeared and Corinthians was one of the early written books. You don’t find it in all the other epistles. Tongues is really gone and off the list even pretty early. We have some more offer questions if you want to call in the number is here at Bibleline 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. And it says here, where in the Bible does it specifically say that a Christian virgin should marry only a Christian who is also a virgin. Well Jesus washed my sins away and made me pure, so what’s the big deal about virgins?
Well the answer is that a person is not really to have sex until they get married. God says that sex within marriage is lawful and approved of God and he created sex obviously. If you want to read a good passage, it’s Hebrews chapter 13, and I’m going to read this passage, and you might want to take a note of it. Hebrews 13 verse 4 says, marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is under-filed, but hormone gers and adulterers, God will judge.
So there’s a price to pay if you violate that, but within marriage everything is legitimate and you’re not to have sex outside of marriage or you will obviously find that there are consequences for that. Okay? And so the big deal is that God never intended for people to have sex outside of marriage. He planned for sex to be used within marriage, and there’s nothing wrong with sex within a marriage relationship. We now have Jeff in Venice, Florida, and Jeff.
Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Lindstrom. Thank you for taking my call. I was just listening to your, you talking about repentance and isn’t fair to say seeing that definitely it does mean a change of mind that we’re at the issue that we are to repent of our sins. It’s the change of mind of our sins and have a sorrow. Is that fair enough to say? No, it’s not. And actually you need to turn to 2 Corinthians where we have a great illustration of three different Greek words that are used.
that are translated repent. And the main one of course is metanoia and even Dr. Schofield and Schofield Bible points out that there is a difference there between sorrow for sin and of course repentance is totally something else. Let me turn there and I’m turning now I’m almost there but then second Corinthians and my Bible pages are sticking together here. It says here, let’s see here, I have, it should be, well it looks like we’re up on the break here.
I’ll try to pick that up Jeff as soon as we get back from the break because we’re gonna have to go to break and I will not be able to conclude that. But I’ll talk about this passage which is kind of fascinating which helps really give an understanding about how it says in Corinthians that Godly sorrow work its repentance which is not to be repented of or is a revocable. It’s really the basic word. Gotta go to break and we’ll be back so don’t go away.
Keep your radio dial through right there and we’ll talk to Jeff again in a minute. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well, I’m Dr. Englund, Chairman. And we do thank you in advance for your gifts. You can do it a couple of ways. You can mail a gift by check to Bibleline or you can give a gift by credit card over the phone, Also on our website, and it’s a secure site, you can not only order resources from Bible line, but also you can give a gift there on the online bookstore on our website.
That’s BibleLineMinistries.org or .com, and there’s a place for you to give to Bibleline. In any case, we hope you’ll go to Israel with me in March. We’ll leave on March 12 on Monday, coming back on March 23rd, a Friday. And we’d love to have you go on that trip. It’ll be $25.95 round trip from one of your departure city is. So that means if you’re flying out of Chicago or St. Louis or Nashville or wherever you are flying from the country, the price will be the same.
And we’re going to fly then out of New York with L.L. the Israeli airline, which I don’t They’ve had an incident since the 1960s. They have probably the safest airline to fly on and we’re going to stay exclusively in Israel. We’ll see all the places where Jesus walked and taught. It’s going to be marvelous. The Bible will come alive for you and we’ll be baptizing in the Jordan River. Here’s an opportunity for you to be baptized in Israel in the Jordan.
That’s certainly special. I always own every trip. This will be trip number 14 for me. Always do that every time. You’re welcome to be a part of that trip and just call in and get the information or go to my website and click on Bible Eye News and you’ll be able to pull that up. We’re going to rejoin the stations that have been on break, so get ready. We’re going to do the second half of Bible Eye right now.
Stay tuned to Bible Eye and keep your radio down right where it is. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back from that break and this is Bibleline and we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church. Church where I’m the pastor. We’d love to meet you. I’d love to have you come by if you’re ever in Florida.
Please come by and see us. If you live in the area, of course, you’re welcome to drive by anytime and say hi or be with us. And we hope you will. And in fact, we invite you to come on a worship day. Our resource centers open every day, Monday through Friday till about 4.30. But on the weekends, we have church services and this Sunday we’ll have the Lord suffer, we invite you to come and be a part of that.
Also, we invite you to come on a Wednesday or the Tuesday night classes. We’ve still got three more weeks to go in the class I’m teaching now on ten vital doctrines. You know, if you don’t have your doctrine right, your whole Christian life can’t go right. The order, according to 2 Timothy 3, 16, and 17 is that all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable. Number one right at the bottom of the list here is doctrine.
Then you build off of that. Then it says for reproof. How can you be reproved if the scriptures are or your doctrines aren’t correct? If you have your doctrine right, then you’re reproved by it. Also it says therefore correction. How can you be corrected unless you have your doctrines right? And then it says, instructed in righteousness, your instruction in how to live the Christian life is also based upon the fact that you have your doctrines right. And then it goes on to say that because if you have your doctrines laid soundly, that you then may be matured as a Christian and be completely furnished unto all good works.
So I hope that you’ll maybe come out and join the classes or if you’re living in other cities. order the CDs or now we’re making them available with DVD and it’s just a little bit more and you’ll get a nice little package a little clip open by open I don’t know what folder box it has the DVDs in it and you can get the whole set it’s really a nice package to take with you. I want to go back to Jeff’s question in 2 Corinthians 7, I think I said chapter 12, it reads here in verse 8, 2 Corinthians 7, 8, for though I made you sorry with a letter, Paul is writing, I think about the first letter he wrote to the Corinthians, 1 Corinthians, he says, I do not repent, and there the Greek word is metanoia, which is clearly a change of mind.
He says, though I did repent, so So here you have met anoia twice. He says, when I wrote it and I heard you were made sorry, he says, I don’t repent or change my mind about that, though I did change my mind. So Paul apparently changes mine and then he realized how God used that in the lives of the Corinthians and then he says, I don’t change my mind now. I perceive that the same epistle have made you sorry, though it were but for a season.
Now I rejoice, he says in verse 9, not that you are made sorry, but that you sorrowed to repentance. So here we see sorrow brings about repentance in some cases, but sorrow is not repentance. So here they’re obviously contrasted. He says you were, you sorrowed to repentance. And then he goes on to say, for you were made sorry after a godly manner that you might receive damage by us in nothing. Then verse 10 says, Godly sorrow, worketh repentance. And there you have it again.
So again, Godly sorrow isn’t repentance, but Godly sorrow sometimes will work about a change of mind. And here it says, Godly sorrow, worketh repentance to salvation, and then we have the Greek word amethamila tas, which is translated here not to be repented of. And that means once you get saved, you’re stuck as what this verse is saying. The same word, a metamilo tons from the Greek, is used in Romans 1130, where it says the gifts and salvation as the gift, isn’t it?
The gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Those two words we read without repentance are the one Greek word I met the Miltos, which means it’s irrevocable. God’s gifts are irrevocable. And once you have changed your mind to believe on Christ and be saved, it is not to be repented of or in the Greek the meaning of that word is irrevocable. You cannot lose your salvation once you do indeed get saved. And so Jeff, that’s a great passage which helps us.
So we don’t want to ever say that, Repentance is a sorrow or remorse. It is definitely in the New Testament a change of mind, but this sorrow that a person might have might work repentance® or bring about a change of mind, but that’s what it’s all about. Let’s say the teachings in Matthew chapters 7 where believers must indeed take the narrow path and enter through the narrow gate. Well, the narrow path is Christ, and unless you trust Christ you will not enter heaven.
I used to have the pictures of the child from the wrong teaching in my church that it was like walking a tightrope and that if you just kept your balance and you kept your eyes on the future and you kept walking very carefully and you made it across the ravine, you would make heaven on the other side. That’s not the idea at all. It’s not anything about you’re continuing to walk anywhere or do anything. talking about that Christ himself is the way, just like Jesus said in John 10, I am the door.
Once you enter the door by trusting Christ, you’re saved and you’re saved forever. And once you choose Christ as the way, the door, there might be a hundred doors in a room let’s say just for illustration sake, and let’s say that these doors were just behind them as a solid concrete wall. And there’s only one way out of the room, and so there’s one door that when you open it, 99 of them will give you a brick wall behind it, but one of them would open and let you get out of the building.
Well, Christ is that door. He’s that one way, and he’s narrow in the sense that he’s exclusively in Christ. You can choose any religion you want, and you got that concrete wall behind the door. It doesn’t get you anywhere. You will not make heaven. Those guys that crashed those airplanes into the Twin Towers in New York thinking they were going to go to paradise and have 70 virgins waiting for them obviously were in for a real surprise because of Mohammed and Allah are not the door to heaven and they will not get you there.
And there’s many people that are choosing the broad way which is any religion in the world that you want to choose and will go to hell but once you trust Christ you have chosen the way and obviously then you are going to enter heaven. So it has nothing to do with what we do after that’s the Christian life and that has to do with rewards and blessings here in this life and in the future life. But the salvation is received by a simple act of trust in the finished work of Christ.
I hope that helps a little bit. Oh, you ate function that Matthew chapter 7 was saying that the true conversion brings about a turning away from sin which allows you to walk the narrow path. Nope. But in turn will not lead to the same topic. Right. There’s nothing there about a narrow path. When it uses the expression the way Christ, you need to put it in the margin, John 14, 6 Christ said, I am the way. So, once you trust Him, you are in and you’re on your way to heaven whether you like it or not.
and keep in mind, I’m not talking about works, I’m talking about a new nature, you know what I mean? So, how about? Well, that’s true, the new nature occurs at that moment, but again, everything that happens after the moment of salvation is all to do with rewards and blessings in the Christian life, and salvation, though, is established forever at the instant of belief. The Bible says in John 524, that you’re passed from death and the life at that moment, that you will never come into condemnation from that moment on, and from that moment on, possessed everlasting life, John 524.
Our salvation is totally separate from any walk or the Christian life or so on. Thanks a lot, Jeff. That was good and we appreciate that call down in Sarasota. I had that impression. I was mistaught in my church and I thought the narrow way meant that I was kind of walking a tightrope. If I ever slipped or fell, that was the end of it for me and that good of hell. Little did I realize that Christ himself is the way and when you trust him you’re saved.
Eternally we have JT in Tampa. JT is waiting for his radar to come up. We have Tom in Valrico, Florida. He’s an off-air question. He says, in 1 Kings 15-5, David did right in the eyes of the Lord. Except, of course, in the matter of you, Raya, the Hittite. But did he not count in the eyes of the Lord? the Hittite, but did he not count Israel? And God was this pleased with David for his equity. David sinned, and he was obviously the Bible doesn’t hide those sins, but the uniqueness about David was he really wanted to please the Lord.
He loved the Lord and David’s heart. He’s a man God says after my own heart. His heart was that he really wanted to please the Lord. He had an old nature like we all do, David did sin and he wasn’t perfect. But yes, David did right in the eyes of the Lord. He was the one that had desired to build a house of God, which his son Solomon built the temple. He obviously was a great leader in that he openly worshiped the Lord and actually was compassionate upon the people and was a great shepherd King and I know that about a very special man, but he had flaws and he did sin.
All right, we have Mike in Nashville, Tennessee, calling in and he leaves an off-air question and I’m not too sure what parable he’s talking about here in this question and we need some clarification. I have no idea. Mike, could you call back and you’re listing up there in Nashville, Tennessee and call back and we’ll try to get that answer for you. I’m not giving you some scripture references because I don’t know about this particular parable, whatever you’re talking about here.
The question is not clear to me as I read it. We have Rick in Palm Harbor and Rick welcome from Palm Harbor, for the Bible and program. Rick, you’re on the earth. Yes, Dr. Lindstrom. I was listening yesterday to your program and I don’t know if I misunderstood what you were saying, but you seem to be indicating that you believe that the Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 accounts are of two different creation events and that there might have been a creation that before the Adam and Eve creation.
I wonder if I have that right and if so, what scripture do you use to support that? Very good. In Genesis 1-1, God created the heavens and the earth. The word created is used very sparingly in the Bible only three times in Genesis 1. But in Isaiah 45-18, you have it used again and it says, let’s say the Lord created the heavens and the earth. It says there that when he created the earth, he created it perfect and inhabited.
It says there he did not create it vain. The word vain in the Hebrew is the same word translated void in Genesis 1-2. We learned from Isaiah 45-18 that God did not create it vain or void, but that it became that way, we believe as a result of a judgment. It appears in the Bible that there was a judgment upon this earth that killed all life. He didn’t create the earth in a void state, but the earth was judged and flooded.
It says the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Darkness is upon the face of the deep. Two expressions there that tell us the earth was completely flooded. In the re-creative week of seven days, you don’t find until the third day that dry land appeared. So basically, if you read 2 Peter chapter 3, and if you go to my website and look at your Dr. Lindstrom’s articles, you’ll see a paper that I wrote about that, but Peter talks about a previous earth that was destroyed and it was destroyed by a flood.
And the flood of Noah was a second flood and life really wasn’t destroyed because it was preserved in the ark and continued on. But that whole original earth with plants and animals and dinosaurs was destroyed and we believe that Lucifer and all of God’s angels lived on that original earth. When you turn to 2 Peter chapter 3 it talks about a former earth An Earth that was and now an Earth that now is, which picks up with Genesis 1, 3, and takes you through the thousand year reign of Christ.
Then this Earth will be destroyed and the Bible talks about a new heavens and a new Earth in 2 Peter chapter 3. So there you have the previous Earth, the present Earth, and the future Earth described and that first Earth was destroyed, apparently in Genesis 1, 2. When you go to Isaiah 14, in verse 13 and 14, you have the five high wills of Satan where God knew Satan’s thoughts. He didn’t knew it. I don’t think he realized that God was peeking in his thought life, but Satan said, I will ascend into heaven.
Now why would he say that? If he lived in heaven, he lived here on the earth and was given the title which he still has, according to 2 Corinthians 4, 4, the God of this world. Then he said he would ascend above the stars. So apparently he was below the planetary heavens and would go beyond the stars where heaven itself was in his invasion. Thirdly, he said he would sit upon the mountain of the congregation in the sides of the north.
We believe heaven is in the north and there’s a corridor of void where there are no stars, which Satan is alluding to there, which by the way our modern telescopes have discovered. It was first discovered by the 200-inch telescope in Mount Palomar, California. But we know that it is a huge hole in the north. They don’t know how to explain that because otherwise there’s kind of somewhat of an even distribution of stars throughout all the whole universe except in the north there’s a corridor where there are none.
And then Satan says, I’m going to ascend above the clouds. So apparently he’s on the surface of the earth beneath the clouds planning his invasion when he took off with a third of the angels toward heaven. God cast him in his angels back down to the earth and he judged the earth that all life on the planet was killed. It wasn’t until about 6,000 years ago, I believe, that God in seven days made the earth inhabitable again, and this time he puts man on the planet.
And notice what he says to Adam. He says, be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. Now, he doesn’t say, Punish the earth, but the word implies there had been life destroyed, and now he was the Punish the earth again with life. I wouldn’t make a big deal out of that except in Genesis 9.1. God gives the same command in the Hebrew to Noah after life had been destroyed and he says to Noah, be fruitful and multiply and re-plenish the earth.
So I believe there was life before Adam and Eve and it was destroyed and that the seven days were a re-creative week that all he did was make the earth ready for life again. On day one, simply the light was allowed to shine through again to the earth and so on and he didn’t have to recreate plants and animals. There’s nothing about the word created used when he talks about plants and animals. They sprang forth from the seed that was already here in the earth, but it was air-breathing animals that he had to recreate, and of course, man created special apart from all animals.
So that’s a brief synopsis, but I believe that there are other passages also that talk about a cataclysmic judgment that occurred in the ancient past, and I believe there have been two floods on this earth. That’s why I told Noah he would never again flood the earth because he’d all that was the second time with Noah and he said I’m not going to do that again. So you believe that the first creation was millions of years ago and the second was about six thousand years.
That’s correct. Okay, thank you. All right. Thank you for calling you. That’s exciting and interesting and certainly the fossil deposits we have I think are the remains of the life that was here in the original creation. Plants and animals destroyed and you see them spread all over the world, even up above Alaska. Apparently those areas were tropical at one time on the original earth and then destroyed and something to think about anyway. We have J.T. in Tampa and I think this time he is ready to go here.
J.T. Are you there? I’m here. All right. Good to talk to you. What do you have a question? Yeah, good to hear from you, Dr. Hank. Thank you. I had a listen to you. I was looking for your comment earlier. Earlier you were talking about the speaking in tongues of no longer valid in churches. I’m in a church that’s considered a word of faith and they encourage us to, you know, it’s still a viable gift of the spirit. Well, then they ought to be evangelizing with it and none of them do.
It says in 1st Corinthians 1422, tongues are for a sign not to believers but to those that do not believe. So they ought to be out in the mall and out in the stadiums and out in the neighborhoods speaking in their gibberish. But you know, the unsaid people don’t really take well to the gibberish. They’ll probably call for the men in the white coats to come haul them off. The real gift was a known foreign language gift. It’s not available today.
But that’s not the big issue. Usually, salvation is flawed as well. Bad doctrine reads bad doctrine. Usually those who claim to speak in tongues believe they can lose their salvation. That’s a major area. That’s a major area of doctrinal error. Because if you believe you can lose it, you’re saying you really have to work to get it and keep it. Because they say that something between now and your death could cause you to lose it. That has to do with you.
That makes you the Savior. Ultimately, you’re in the driver’s seat. And the Bible teaches us that salvation is totally the Lord. None of work is a sin. It’s the gift of God and once you’re saved he promises that he would never cast you out for any reason John 6 37 and Christ says it’s the Father’s will that he would not lose one person That ever came to him. So if you ever became lost God would be a liar the Bible would be a lie Christ would be lying and Obviously that’s that’s a big major doctrinal error So you might ask in your church do they teach or do they believe you can lose your salvation?
I’m I’ll I admit you to say absolutely they’re gonna tell you yes, you can lose your salvation Then you know you’re in a bad church and you need to get out All right. Thanks, sure you’re welcome. Thank you JT, but Tons is a symptom of something far deeper that’s wrong and that is a flawed plan of salvation and I don’t mind the people jibber and if they like to do that that’s fine But, you know, to try to tell me that it’s supported by the Bible or a biblical experience or Christian experience I can’t be supported by the Bible at all and What is being done today as a counterfeit and it’s not the real language gift that was given two thousand years ago where?
On the first day three thousand people got saved as a result of that gift of languages. I don’t see anybody getting saved today through that gift of gibberish today we have Sally in Pensacola, Florida, and she calls in and leaves this question off the air. She says, where in the scripture does it read that Jesus, as at the right hand of God, and prays for us? Well, I don’t think it says that anywhere. It says he’s at the right hand of God, but I don’t think it says anywhere that he’s at the right hand of God praying for us.
So I can’t help you there. In Genesis 17 it talks about Ishmael and 12 princes. Certainly, God told us that the descendants of Ishmael would become a great people or a large people and certainly we see the Muslims today. We have a great book that would really help you in this area by Hal Lindsey called Everlasting hatred which traces the descendants of Isaac and Ishmael from Abraham and probably would answer exactly the question. That’s one of the best research books I think that Hal Lindsey has done.
We have it in our resource center you can call and order it. We can ship it out to you. But it will take you through all these passages in great detail and will help you to get a real good understanding of what’s going on in the Middle East today. But we find that God never promised that the promises that God had made to Abraham would be passed on through Ishmael. It would be passed on through his son Isaac. Alright, we have Jonathan in Richmond, Virginia, and Jonathan.
Welcome to Bibleline Your Own The Year. Oh, yes, Dr. Hank, thank you for taking my call. I just wanted to have you a sound on Matthew, the book of Matthew, which either the dealing with the week and the terrorism. And he’s actually saying that even though the people didn’t want to, if you’ve done it to others, you’ve done it to me. Exactly. That’s your Matthew chapter 25 there and it’s the judgment of the nations, not the parable of the wheat and pears, but in the judgment of the nations, that will take place at the end of the tribulation period, after seven years after the rapture, and the nations will be judged in how they have dealt with Israel.
In particular, the 144,000 Jewish witnesses that will evangelize the world, the sheep are the believers and the goats are the unbelievers. That’s already established when the judgment begins. The sheep are on the right hand and the goats are on the left. But the sheep are told that they help these Jews. He says, My brethren, and they fed them and visited them and prisoners sent the other. And that was because I think they appreciated these 104,000 who really were martyred finally for their witness for Christ.
And the sheep, of course, became sheep as a result of hearing their message. The goats, of course, didn’t have any care or compassion upon them. But it wasn’t the fact that they did it, did not do those things that determine their salvation. But it was simply the sheep did it because they were sheep and they were grateful for what the brothers of Christ, the Jews, the little witnesses in tribulation did and the others did not. It says the righteous will inherit eternal life, but the others, the unrighteous would be cast into everlasting fire.
That was because of their unbelief. So salvation just by faith there, but tells the consequences of what the believers did as versus the unbelievers.
