What is your testimony? I believe this term is so misused that most folks don’t even know what is their testimony. Your testimony is therefore the message of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ that you embraced at the moment of your salvation when you trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior. Or in other words, the Gospel is your testimony.

Good morning and welcome to Bibleline great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning into the broadcast. We appreciate you and all of our listeners. I look forward to being with you each and every day as we come to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor and we certainly look forward to being with you Monday through Friday live and we hope that you’ll join us as often as you can.
By the way, today’s Tuesday and tonight we’ll be offering those classes here. If you’re in the area to come by and sign up and become a part of the class called Jesus is coming. That’s right. Jesus is coming. If you’re not in the area, you can sign up over the telephone and get the passcode and watch these classes live on the internet. Also, you’ll be able to watch them as often as you like throughout the week to review. But we hope you’ll take advantage of this wonderful 10-hour series of teachings on Jesus is coming.
And we certainly believe he is. And the time is getting short. I think Christ will be back very, very soon. Jesus is coming tonight, Tuesday night at 7, 7 to 9, 2 hours per week, 5 weeks. We’ll get 10 hours of teaching done. Then they will be available on CD or DVD and you might want to get those series. You can order them in advance and they’ll just ship out when we finish the series or you can wait till we are done and then order them then.
But we have about 40 different series that I’ve taught that are available on CD. One series, exciting is the Holy Spirit, 12 Hours of Teaching. One is Revelation, 12 Hours of Teaching. Here is the spirit world, 12 hours of teaching. Of course, on many books of the Bible, we have 10 hours or 12 hours of teaching, including some of our best here as of later. It’s the book of Jude, incredible book that bridges the 65 books or 64 books prior to it and then links it to the 66th book, the book of Revelation.
It’s a wonderful book just jammed with information and we did a wonderful series on that. We have the book of Romans. Romans, what an incredible book that is. This is the book that really sparked the Reformation. You know, Martin Luther, the reformer, was a Roman Catholic priest. He was asked to teach the book of Romans at the University of Wittenberg in Germany. And you know, after you get assigned a course to teach you have to study it and he’s studying the book of Romans and guess what?
He gets to verse 16 and he gets saved. That’s right. Romans 1 16 says, I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it the gospel is the power of God and the salvation to everyone that believeth. Well, Martin Luther saw that verse and he got saved. He simply trusted Christ, believing the gospel message to death the barrel of the resurrection of Christ as the only means of his salvation and that sparked, of course, the Revelation shortly thereafter. He nailed his theses to the church door there at Wittenberg, Germany, and the Reformation was underway.
This incredible book, we’ve got that on CD, 10 hours of teaching, and I know you’re going to enjoy every minute of it. We deal with all the difficult passages, including those with about predestination in Romans 9, 10, and 11, and you’ll want to get that series. We also have the book of Hebrews. Boy, if there’s a book that is difficult. It’s Hebrews. Look in your Christian bookstore for a commentary on Hebrews. Or even if you have a commentary, look at the length of what they say about Hebrews.
They pretty much skip it. Most Bible expositors just walk right on by Hebrews. But we deal with all the difficult passages and go verse by verse and you’ll love the series on Hebrews. Plus, we’ve got numerous others. We just did one called 10 vital doctrines of the Bible. What a solid foundation that will give you. You can order that on DVD or CD. We’ve got a wonderful series on the Christian life called Meeting the Challenge. That’s on CD and DVD.
You can call our operators after the program is over and they can help you if you want to order any of these things. Also, of course, you can go online. Our website is Bibleline Ministries, and there you’ll find that you’ll be able to see these things and order them on the internet, on our website, BibleLineMinistries.org, or .com. And our radio show and our TV shows are there on the internet for you to take a look at. I hope you will do that.
That’s tonight. If you’re in that local area, we hope you’ll drive over, sign up, get your few minutes before seven and we’ll be ready to accommodate you and we’ll have an exciting journey for ten hours, two hours each Tuesday night, beginning tonight, and cover Jesus is coming. If you have your Bible handy, get it out. We’ll be talking about the Scriptures for a while and then we’ll take our callers and our offer questions and we certainly hope that you will be a participant in that at least listening and following along in your Bible, but if you have a question, you’re welcome to call in and ask that question.
Well, we’re going to talk a little bit about your testimony today. What is your testimony? I believe this term is so misused that most folks don’t even know what is their testimony. In churches, people often are asked to give a testimony. Usually someone will volunteer and say their testimony is that God has healed them of some illness or has helped them through some difficult crises or that God has provided for some particular need or that God has led them into some particular ministry and etc.
These are all really praise reports of answered prayer or of God’s wonderful provision. And of course we ought to give praise, but technically these are not a testimony. That’s right. Also, when people think of testimony, they often point to your life and they talk about what you are doing or not doing. They say how you are living your life is your testimony. Well guess what? The Bible says that the way we live our lives should adorn the gospel, but technically our Christian life is not our testimony.
Well, is that different than what you’ve been taught all your life? I’m sure. Our Christian life is important and it should adorn the testimony that has been confirmed in us. It says in the book of Titus, exhort servants or encourage servants to be obedient to their own masters and to please them in all things, not answering again, not perlording, but showing all good fidelity that they may adorn the doctrine of God, our Savior, in all things. So certainly we ought to adorn the doctrine of God and our Savior in all things, but that is really technically not our testimony.
What then is your testimony? Well in 1 Corinthians 1, 6 we learn that the Corinthian believers have the testimony of Christ confirmed in them. Let me read the verse. Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you 1 Corinthians 1, 6. By the way, every believer has the testimony of Christ confirmed in him or her. Our testimony is really the testimony of Christ that we have embraced when we trusted Christ as our Savior. Notice that Jesus warned Paul that he should make haste and get the quickly out of Jerusalem, for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me, Acts 22 8.
Let me read that again. Make haste, get the quickly out of Jerusalem, for they will not receive by testimony concerning me, Acts 22 18. In other words, by testimony Paul’s testimony concerning me, Jesus is the one who is speaking here, is of course the testimony concerning Christ. Please note that Jesus told Paul that his testimony, Paul’s testimony was concerning Jesus Christ. It says in the verse by testimony concerning me. And what Christ had accomplished Calvary. Ibid Jesus told Paul that the Jews in Jerusalem would not receive his testimony or Paul’s testimony.
But later Paul tells us in his letter to the people at Thessalonika that the Gentiles at Thessalonika believed his testimony. 2 Thessalonians 1 and 10 says, when he shall come to be glorified in his saints and to be admired in all of them that believe because our testimony among you was believed. In other words, at the return of Jesus Christ, many believers will admire Jesus Christ because they were saved by hearing the testimony of the Apostle Paul, which was the testimony concerning Christ that Paul embraced and was confirmed in him and in you and me as believers that we should share.
Your testimony is therefore the message of the death of the barrel, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, that you embraced at the moment of your salvation when you trusted Jesus Christ. to your Savior. Or in other words, the gospel is your testimony. Paul says, and listen to this one, Romans 1, 16, that we began with, I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For it the gospel is the power of God and the salvation to everyone that believe it. To the Jew first and also to the Greek Romans 1, 16.
The gospel of Christ was the testimony of Paul the Apostle Paul’s testimony was the message that he preached which was the testimony of Christ. Let me quote the verse again for I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it the gospel is the power of God and the salvation to everyone that believe it. That was the message that Paul preached that was Paul’s testimony that was the testimony that you and I have also when we trust Christ that testimony is confirmed in us according Paul’s testimony was the message that he preached which was the testimony of Jesus Christ.
This testimony is confirmed in every believer. Again, let me quote, First Corinthians 1, 6, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you. obviously are to take that testimony and proclaim it. And so Christ’s testimony or the testimony that God gave concerning Christ is the testimony that’s confirmed in us. That’s the testimony that we’re to share and give. And so when Paul witnessed or gave his testimony, he gave the gospel. Look at Acts 26, 22 and 23. When giving his testimony, Paul says, this is what he would do.
Let me quote, having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than which the prophets and Moses did say should come, that Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should show light unto the Gentiles and to the people. So obviously again Paul gave testimony concerning Christ and that was Paul’s testimony. So our testimony is not a praise of money.
We have praise of monies in many churches. How many Nicotine would I give testimony? People give a praise of money POLITICO. Well, I praise the Lord that I’m well. I was sick or I praise the Lord that I got a job. I was without work or I praise the Lord I was able to make my mortgage payment this month. have the money at the time and on and on and on. I praise the Lord that when I fell, I didn’t break any bones in my body.
I hear these all the time. Those are praise reports that’s not your testimony. That’s not your testimony. The testimony of the believer is the testimony of Christ that God gave concerning Christ that we believed, embraced, and were saved by that was confirmed in you at the moment you believed according println1 6 which is the testimony that we proclaim and so when we give testimony we give the gospel we give the message of Christ the message that we proclaim is the testimony as to how we were saved and how we are to present that to others.
John the Apostle tells us that his testimony is the testimony of Jesus that he received. In Revelation 19, he says, I am thy fellow servant and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus. Think about that. Here is John the Apostle, the great apostle that wrote five of the New Testament books, the Gospel of John, the three epistles of John, and the book of Revelation. And John the Apostle tells us that his testimony is the testimony of Jesus that he received.
Same thing I have been saying all along. Let me quote, I am thy fellow servant John says, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus. Who has the testimony of Jesus? Everyone that has put their trust in Christ? His testimony of Jesus. According to 1 Corinthians 1, 6, that testimony is confirmed in them at the moment of belief and they’re saved eternally. And that testimony is the testimony that we’re to share. If you were to ask me to give testimony, I would say I was lost and headed for hell, but Jesus Christ loved me and came down from heaven and took on a human body and went to the cross of Calvary.
There He died and shed His blood and paid my sin daily. He was buried. He rose again from the dead. He’s alive forevermore. I trusted him to save me and he saved me. That’s my testimony. Not anything else. So it’s not when you look at somebody’s life and say, boy, they have a great testimony. That is really not theologically sound. When we talk to somebody and they tell us about Jesus and his death-birland resurrection, resurrection, then we say, wow, what a testimony.
That’s the testimony that every believer has in them if they’re a believer. And that’s the testimony that they’re to share with others. I’m Dr. Englinschter. And this is Bibleline. We’re coming to you live out of Tampa from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church. And I hope that you would focus in on really what your testimony is. And it’s the testimony of Christ that you should be sharing with others. If you’ve never accepted that testimony, then you need to.
And when you do, you become born again, you become saved, you become a child of God, and you’re saved forever. And again, we’re now going to turn to our callers. If you want to call in, the number is 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. We look forward to talking to you if you have a question. This is your opportunity to call in and share that with us. And of course, if you want to leave a question off here, you may do so.
We have our first caller and that’s Edgar and he’s in Petersburg, Virginia and Edgar, welcome to Bible on your On The Air. Hey, how you doing this morning? Do you know a dad? Yeah, but I don’t even want to mention his name. He’s apparently so messed up and so confused that it’s not worth discussing okay well i know he’s given me the scone crossbones for the being the worst uh… and and and most of false bible teacher on the earth so that you know that so and and and and and and he picked people in the in uh…
the same category with me is david jeremiah uh… charles and david and david hunt and uh… john anchorberg I’m in good company. He slams all of us as being false prophets. I’ve heard of him. Yes, I have. All right. I have two questions today. Can you touch on the word Elohim? I know it’s a plurality, but I know it is not saying about three gods, so I need you to illuminate on that please. Sure we’ll do that for you Edgar.
Edgar the word used about 3000 times in the Old Testament that’s translated God is Elohim, E-L-O-H-I-M. And it really is a word that denotes the office of God. And so when it talks about Yahweh or Jehovah being God, the office of God is the word used there Elohim. It’s plural, the I am on the end of it, lets us know that it’s plural and plural in Hebrew means three or more. So it really gives us a hint at the Trinity throughout the Old Testament that God existed as the eternal Father, as the eternal Son, and as the eternal Spirit.
There is one God, but He exists as three separate eternal persons. Wonderful Word, and it is used throughout the Old Testament. I will never forget I had in college some Jewish roommates, and I learned a lot about Judaism from them. And of course I was able to really learn how to witness the Jewish people through that experience in my college dorm. And you know, they always would say they believed in one God. And I said, well, I believe in one God too.
And they said, no, you believe in three gods. And I’d say no, we believe in one God. But he eternally exists as three separate eternal persons. And what really caused them great consternation was I would point out Elohim, which they They knew and was very familiar with, but they never connected the dots. That Elohim is plural. And I said, that’s three or more as they would know. And I said, how do you explain that? That the Godhead, the office of God is a plurality.
And I began to learn how to… He said, I need Jewish people to Christ. And they need to know their Savior. Christ was a Jew. God took on Jewish flesh. And all the first believers were Jews. All the apostles were Jews. And they came to know Jesus. And of course they were surprised when Gentiles got saved. But now we’ve gotten it so turned around that sometimes we Christians Gentiles are shocked when we see a Jewish person getting saved. We shouldn’t because there’s one Savior.
And it says in Romans 10, 12, that all are under the curse. We’re all sinners. And there’s no difference between Jew and Gentile. We all need to trust Christ in order to be saved. Thank you Edgar for that call. And we hope that that has helped. We’re going to go now to Brian in Tampa Bay. I hope he’s not on a boat. I hope you’re not swimming. It says Tampa Bay. Yes, there’s somewhere in the area. Brian, you’re on the air.
Hello? Yeah Brian. Hey, good morning Doc. And God bless you in the name of You can hear me right? Sure, what’s your question? Okay, just making sure. All right, I got a couple questions. Maybe just want to be enough. Number one, I know and how you state the fact that, you know, one’s salvation is a permanent and I agree with you. I just stumble. If you want to be, you tell me about this. How it says three things you can count on.
I mean, I thought it might not be the exact word, but if we die with him, we will We die with him. We will live with him. We suffer with him. We will reign with him. And if we disown him, he will disown us. well that’s not true let me show you think about that but it was the first it says that no it does say if you deny him he will deny you never does it say disowned that’s a total different ballgame and what he’s talking about there is in Matthew chapter ten that if you deny him that means the whole chapter talking about witnessing read it carefully Matthew chapter ten Christ is sending out his disciples he tells him to go out and proclaim the message of the gospel.
And he says if you do that, you’ll be rewarded. But he says if you deny me, then I’ll deny you before the Father. What he means is that if you witness and live for Christ, Christ will profess unto the Father. The Father will reward you when you stand before him one day at the Church of the City of Christ. But if you deny Christ, in other words, if you did nothing, you did not witness, then he cannot say to the Father boy you did a great job because you didn’t.
He’s going to deny giving any praise to the Father about you and therefore you’re not going to have any rewards. But it’s not talking about loss of salvation. Now when you talk about salvation it says in Timothy that even if you deny him, God is faithful and cannot break his promise. Let me read to you 2 Timothy Chapter 2 verse 13 it says Even if we believe not let me go to it back to verse 12 here This is probably the passage you’re referring to if we suffer we shall also reign with him if we deny him He will also deny us and that’s talking about rewards But it says if we believe not yet he if I had it faithful he cannot deny himself So even if you stop believing it still be saved because Christ has made a promise Once you trust him at that moment you’re born again and you’re forever his child no matter
what occurs later in your future. You might have a mental breakdown and forget that you’re saved and had not even recall the incident. But once you’ve been saved, there’s no chance for you to become unborn once you’re born again and plus he gives you eternal life and he keeps us saved. So you can’t be lost once you’re saved. Don’t that happen. I mean, things are making me stumble because he says, you know, to him who endures to the end shall be saved.
And you know, if you continue believing, if you continue doing this and that, you know, you know, one at a time now, enduring to the end has to do again with the physical life that it says in Matthew chapter 24, 13, if you endure to the end, it’s talking about if you’re in the tribulation period and you’re saved and you manage to endure to the end of it, then you will be saved physically to live into the thousand year reign of Christ.
But if you are killed, obviously you will not enter the Millennial Kingdom as one of its subjects. You will not be able to do that. But it is not talking about losing your salvation. It is not even talking about gaining salvation. It is talking about physical death. And in the context you will see that. It says in verse 22 there that Christ will come back and shorten the tribulation period it just seven years in length and if he hadn’t done that or if he doesn’t do that, which is still future, then mankind would annihilate themselves.
It says it would be no flesh. The Bible is not given by the Bible of the Bible. If Christ did not come back and interrup it and stopped the period at just seven years of length and set up His Kingdom here on the earth. So basically you have to go and look at each case individually. Hopefully we have handled two of them. What was the third one? Yes, I am still here. That is two of them. But you did not have to go out one at a time here.
I guess it does get overwhelming and causes you to stumble if you get hit with a barrage of these things at one time And you don’t deal with each one individually every one of them can be answered. They all have to do You know, yeah, he says a lot of things in there to make you think Like it’s about how you continue, but we already know it’s great and and we can do to get there The Christian life is about continuing.
You know if you read John 8 It talks about If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed he said and then see your saved He said you become a disciple when you continue I see I know you know what this is called rightly dividing the word Brian, I hope you can come out to my classes tonight. Good morning sir.
Good morning. The question I have today isn’t there a verse in the Bible that teaches about a prophet being I’ll write 100% of the time. Never missing anything. Well, that’s exactly right. And Deuteronomy chapter 13 is the passage that gives you the test of a true prophet. What was that? Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy, the fifth book of your Bible, chapter 13. 10, 13. Isn’t it interesting? And I know it’s just quite by coincidence, but false prophets are discussed in chapter 13.
There’s a lot of them are going on out there right now. Oh my goodness, they’re everywhere. And this is the test. time that the Bibles look about. In the last days, it said there would be many false preachers that would come along and we have them. They’re all over the place today. So you just almost can look out and say, I’m probably looking at a false prophet. You really have to look very carefully and listen very carefully to what they say.
And if they don’t agree with the Bible, then the Bible says it’s because they have no light in them. Isaiah 8, 20, my My favorite verse, if they speak not according to this word, that is the word of God. It is because there is no light in them. James, thanks for the call. Thank you. All right. That was James over in Seminole. We have been in Clearwater, Florida and then welcome to Bibleline your next. Good morning, Dr. Good morning.
I just want to have a question. I know this is going to come soon for his church that we call him, he’s going to get the should go to be in the rupture. Also in Matthew 2431, Jesus don’t come with that group. He sent the angel. I want to know if that group in 24, Matthew 2431, if that group is going to be or take part of the church or that group is just a US or that group is stayed in earth.
Explain to me that please. Okay. Thank you. Thank you Ben. Actually Matthew 24 is talking about the second coming of Christ, seven years after the Rapture and is talking about the many millions that will get saved after the Rapture during the tribulation period and the second coming of Christ Jesus sends out his angels. At the rapture Christ comes all by himself. It says at 1st Thessalonians 4-16, for the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout. But at the second coming every eye will see him, Revelation 1-7.
So we know that there is a tremendous difference between the rapture and the second coming. In a Matthew 24, what is in view is the tribulation period and the saints that get saved during the tribulation period. Those are the elect that is talking about there and when he comes back he sends out his angels to gather them up and they will of course be invited to enter into the thousand year reign of Christ as we see in chapter 25 of Matthew at the judgment of the nations.
Thank you Ben for calling in. We now have Adam in Tampa, Florida. Adam, welcome Welcome to Bible Ed. Yes, that’s right. My question comes from Matthew 10 verse 19, but when may I rest, you do not worry about what to say, how to say it, the time he will be given what to say. So it will not be you speaking with the Spirit or Father speaking through you. Is that applied to us today or is that the Spirit inside?
I believe it does though. I have heard preachers say that boy, I don’t need to study my Bible. my Bible. I just let the spirit lead me. That’s really kind of craziness. We need to study and the Bible commands us to in 2 Timothy 2 15. But then as you rise or have an occasion where you’re under fire, the Lord then will cause you to be able to recall the scriptures you need and will guide you so that you’ll know what to say.
And certainly I know that when many times I’m speaking I can just sense that the Lord is taking me to passages that he’d like to have me share. But I have to put him in there first, or he can’t pull him up out of my head. When I do this radio show, we have two men right now banning the phones. And I’m sitting here with just the Bible in my lap. People come in to visit sometimes and they’ll say, this is not the way I thought it was.
I thought you had a whole team of people doing research and handing you answers. And it’s not that way. I have my Bible open, but many times I can quote the passages without even opening my Bible because I’ve memorized so much of it. And that’s when you really can… So, what you are talking about in chapter 10 where you don’t have to worry about what to say when the occasion rises like for example in this radio show I am prepared which the preparation occurred long before but when I get questions fired at me blindly because we don’t screen anybody.
We take them whatever whatever comes hit by way is what we take and the Lord of course I believe guides me to the right answers which I have already put a hit with my head So yes, I think I think it does apply Okay, and just another question. In verse 23, as it does down in 1023, it says, when you’re persecuted in one place, flee to another, and it says, I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the city of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
Now, how is that possible? Because we clearly know that people have given the gospel through all of Israel by now. And Christ doesn’t come back. Is that not talked about in the second coming or what? on the first. First of all if you read it earlier in Matthew chapter 10 it talks about in verse 6 in the gospel of the kingdom that kingdom message is not being preached right now, but will be resumed by Christ’s disciples during the tribulation period and will be preached in all of those cities by the return of Christ at the Second Coming.
So it leaps ahead. This age you have to pull it right out of the equation and jump ahead to the tribulation period which is the last seven years of the Old Testament dispensation of law. So Adam, thank you very much and I hope that helped. We now have, uh, uh, off here, James calls in from Higdon, Alabama, and he’s 30 miles from Chattanooga, uh, listening on WJOC, and so welcome to all the folks that are listening on WJOC out of Chattanooga, and thanks, James, for letting us know you’re listening to it.
Anybody else up in the area there, please give us a call. Let us know you’re hearing the program. your 30 miles from Chattanooga and listening on WJOC. We’re excited about that. We’re hoping that we’ll hear from a lot of you folks in Chattanooga as well as we got the Tennessee covered a little bit. We got Memphis and Nashville and Chattanooga and thank you for calling and letting us know that James. We have Sam in Lakeland, Florida. Sam, welcome to to buy one year on the air.
I had good morning and I enjoy this program this morning. I was listening to a guy talking and I was talking to my brother a couple days ago and we were talking about this script about how to work out your own salvation. And I went over that script then and I went over and I went over it. And the only, and I was telling my brother because he was telling me that like working for your salvation. And when I was doing that and I said well if you don’t work out your salvation, I’ll be and sweet dad said, work for your salvation.
But when he says that work out your salvation, that means when Jesus inside of you, you’re working out of him because when you get saved, you don’t have no side of one to work for him, but when you get saved, like you took him out a few minutes ago, that then you had that decided to want to teach the word, you want to tell people. So that’s what you call work out your salvation. I was asking you that question now, that’s what I would say to you.
Well, you’re right on there. Sam, Sam, that is in Philippians 2, 12, where it says, Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. The fear and trembling has to do with the fact that we’ll give it a count one day at the Judge of the State of Christ for what we have done since we’ve been saved and the result will be reward or loss of reward. But it doesn’t say work for salvation. It says, Work it out. Then the next verse, verse 13 of Philippians 2 says that God works in us.
So he’s in us and he wants us to display outwardly and then and the following verses go on to say that how that we’re lights and we’re Testimally in this world and so we’re working it out or displaying it outward as we open up the word of God and share it with other people James by the way and Chattanooga did have a question here. I missed that he wanted me to explain Matthew 24 12 through 13 so James about 30 miles from Chattanooga listening from Higdon, Alabama.
That’s really Chattanooga’s right on the corner there and I’m sure we’ll get some people from Georgia and Alabama and Tennessee all listening on that station out of Chattanooga and welcome to the broadcast today. We have James asking about Matthew 24, 12 and 13. It says in verse 12 of Matthew 24, because the iniquity of shell abound and the love of many shall grow cold, it’s talking about the terrible time the tribulation period will be the seven years following the rapture.
preceding the second coming of Christ when He sets up His throne and brings peace on earth, good will toward men. Verse 13 says, He that shall endure to the end the same shall be saved. And it’s talking here, and I think I answered it earlier for another caller, that is talking about this. physical salvation. If you notice verse 21 and if you have your pen handy, mark this James, it says, for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, nor shall ever be.
Now that hadn’t happened yet, but once it happens, it will be the worst time that has ever occurred in history past and never in history future after the Tribulation period will there be a time as awful as this period called Great Tribulation. Now, verse 22, get ready and look for the word saved. Except those days should be shortened and Christ does come back and His Second Coming and shortens them to just seven years of length. There should no flesh be saved.
The fact that it says flesh be saved is talking about physical salvation, not eternal salvation. If you take that and draw a line over to verse 13 where it says the one who endures to the end the same shall be saved, verse 22 tells us it’s a physical salvation from the tribulation period to live into the millennium. It’s not talking about eternal salvation. So that’s called rightly dividing the word of truth. You have to be careful to read the passage and see if it’s talking about physical salvation or eternal salvation.
There is a verse in the book of Acts that we could probably start a new cult if we wanted to. Paul was on a ship at Storm and the Lord told him that everybody that would stay on board the ship would survive. The ship would wind up sinking and they all get off and went on to an island. He told the people on the ship, except you bite in the ship, you cannot be saved. He wasn’t talking about going to heaven.
He’s talking about a physical deliverance from that storm that if they abided in the ship they would not, I think it’s chapter 27 verse 35 of Acts, that you are not going to die if you remain on board the ship. Well can you imagine we could maybe design a church in the shape of a ship and we could tell people to come and bring their food and their clothing and just stay here and accept your bite in the ship, you won’t be saved and so on and start a new cult.
I could just imagine we could do that tomorrow and people would probably come and buy into it and believe it. But obviously that’s not a correct interpretation. A biting in the ship or you won’t be saved. It’s not talking about eternal salvation and it’s not the same physical deliverance here of Matthew either. But it’s obviously from that particular storm. We have Pat in Richmond, Virginia and Pat, welcome to Bibleline. Hi, Dr. Hank. I’m not just fun to let you know how much I love your ministry.
Thank you. Also, I wanted to ask you about Beth Moore. Do you know anything about her? Not really a whole lot. I don’t pay too much attention to women preachers because I believe the Bible says that we shouldn’t have women preachers. So, right up front, I would say say that we shouldn’t have women preaching. First Timothy chapter 2 talks in verse 12 that I suffer not or allow not a woman to teach, nor do you serve authority over the men.
And so women are not to be the Bible teachers or preachers. And it gives you two reasons there why. Number one, Adam was created first and then Eve and so God gave the responsibility to the men simply before order and he gave them the spiritual responsibility. In a home, the man is to be the spiritual leader. Unfortunately, all the men don’t take that leadership position, but they are to be the leader. That doesn’t mean they’re the dictator and that they shouldn’t listen to their wives’ input, but certainly ultimately God’s going to hold them responsible.
You know when the baby Jesus was born, God warned them of Herod’s intent to kill that baby and the Lord spoke to Joseph, didn’t he? He said, Joseph, take your wife and the baby down to Egypt until the death of Herod. He didn’t say, Mary, take your husband and the baby Jesus. You know? And where are you reading the Bible? God led the family through the man. And if you’re married and your man is not leading, then you have to tell him, hey, God I expect you to be the spiritual leader here.
How about step up to the plate and do your job? Okay. Okay. That is great. Well thank you doctor. We have a black day. Alright you too Pat. Thanks for calling in from Richmond, Virginia. Alrighty we want you to call. The number is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. Love to hear from some more of you around the Chattanooga area. We are now going to Mary Anne in Sarasota, Florida Mary Anne welcome to Bibleline your own ear Hello I would like to ask you a lot. I wanted to ask you about Hank Hanegraaff. I’ve listened to him for a while and I just, you know, there’s just so much and maybe you know about him. I disagree on this position where he believes Christ has already returned. He’s a preterist. I have his book here, The Last Disciple. It’s all about John, the Apostle, and how they established an early date for the book of Revelation, saying that the second coming occurred in AD 70, and they give an early date to the last disciples writing of Revelation as about AD 70.
about eighty sixty or so so that they say the tribulation period was from eighty sixty three to seventy christ came back in all this power and glory eighty seventy but just nobody saw him and i can’t buy that at all so his uh… he doesn’t believe in the uh… pre-tribulation will rapture and and he believes christ has already come back in that we’re in the kingdom and and all of that is nonsense and so that’s my major disagreement with him but He does a good area in the area of the cults and so on and we have a couple of his books here in our Resource Center.
I like the book Christianity and crises. But when he gets off into areas of eschatology, which is the fancy word for prophecy, I think he’s totally wrong. So then how is he classified? How would you classify him? Not as a false prophet. No, not as a false prophet, but certainly some areas I think just confuse the modern believer because Jesus is coming and that’s what I’m going to start teaching on tonight and no doubt about it. We’re anticipating that return at any time.
They say he’s already come and that’s certainly I don’t believe is true and when the Bible says how he would come and all his power and all his glory, that didn’t happen in 80-70. They said it was the Roman armies that that was Christ coming back and they destroyed Jerusalem and That doesn’t meet the Bible description I see and I’m anticipating Christ to come anytime. I’m ready to go And I am too Made me really curious and I’m not as intelligent maybe as you are of course I just I know I know the Bible pretty well, but it’s just it’s just you know I’d like to listen to him about certain things.
I’ve met, I think, undergrad, I’ve shaped his hand. I’m sure he’s sincere with his beliefs, but I think he’s wrong in those areas. So where does that lead him as far as likeization and all? Because you’re not supposed to lead a little one. I know. Well, I think bad doctrine breeds bad doctrine. I’m sure that just filters his whole thinking. So definitely, you know, I can shake his hand and accept him as a Christian brother, but I would say he’s wrong in many areas and I would have to disagree with him.
If we had a debate, I would be on the other side of something. So then, okay, so what do you keep on doing this? Well, it’s the Lord’s hands. I have no control over other preachers. I’m just trying to alert people to what the Bible does say, and then you have to make your own mind. And we do have to know God’s word ourselves. Amen. And so, but thank you so much for your opinion. Thank you, Mary Ann, in Sarasota, Florida, Col.
And we have Jerry, Jerry in Zephyr Hills, Florida. Jerry, welcome to Bibleline You’re On The Air. Hello. Turn your radio down. I can hear it in the background. Okay. I need to ask you a question. What do I find exactly, While I’m trying to figure out how many hours they actually took price, it actually Jesus was actually before pilot around 6 a.m. in the morning. He was placed on the cross at 9 a.m. The Bible says the third hour of the day.
The daylight period begins at 6 a.m. and so 9 a.m. would be the third hour. He, the darkness came over the land at 12 noon or the sixth hour. At the ninth hour Christ actually died. That was 3 in the clock in the afternoon and by 6 p.m. or sundown he was placed in the grave. So that’s kind of the way it lays out. So you’re talking that actually from the time you’re talking probably actually he was on the cross six hours.
He was nailed to the cross at 9 a.m. He died at 3 p.m. Okay, thank you. All right. We’re about out of time. We have lots more people waiting on the phone here I wish we could take them off and you might have to just call back again tomorrow If you haven’t trusted Christ, would you do that just say Lord? I’m a sinner. I don’t understand a lot about the Bible But I believe Jesus died and shed his blood, paid my sin dead and full was buried in rose again from the dead.
I trust him right now to save me. He will. And that’s great. If you are in the Tampa Bay area, come out to my classes tonight, come out and sign up.
