Also invite you to come by on a worship day and you’re always welcome to come on a Wednesday night or a Sunday night and of course this week you can come Tuesday night because we do have the last two class hours of Jesus is coming being concluded.

We also have about 40 series that I’ve done on different topics and they are powerful in the way of teaching and learning. Many people use them to facilitate a Bible study, a Sunday school class, and others use them in their cars as they go to and from work and use them time and make it valuable time to learn the word of God and to play the CDs to and from. You’re certainly welcome to give us a call and we’ll send you out a resource sheet and or you can go to our website and look at our online bookstore and you can find everything you need right there.

We’re going to turn to the scriptures and I hope you’ll open your Bible and then we’ll take the calls and you’re welcome to start calling in at any time. 1-800-576-3771. And again, we’re going to go to Romans chapter 6 verse 23 where it says, For the wages of sin is death. That is the bad news. The wages of sin is death. . . . . . . . . . . . . The payment for sin is death. What does that mean?

Well, it’s twofold. It’s physical death. And by the way, the word death means separation. It doesn’t mean annihilation or the cessation of existence. It doesn’t mean you cease to exist anymore. Some people have wrongly concluded that. That is not what it’s saying at all. And it is saying basically that physical death is the separation of your soul and spirit from your body. Even the Bible talks about a second death which is the separation of your soul and spirit from God in hell forever and ever and ever and ever.

That’s the one you want to avoid at all costs. And no one has to experience the second death because if you trust Christ as Savior, the Bible says those that believe on Him will not be hurt of the second death. What a beautiful picture we have of that back in the Old Testament in Daniel chapter 3. We have Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego not willing to obey the commandment of the fall down and worshiped this colossal image that Nebuchadnezzar had built.

So they were cast into the burning fiery furnace. The king was looking and he said, didn’t we cast three into that burning fiery furnace? They said, yes, O king. He says, but I see four. One is like unto the Son of God. Well, that was Jesus in the fire with them. They came out of that fire, unscorched, unburnt. Not even their hair was sinned. And you know how impossible it is if you get near any heat, even if you barbeque while you’re going to probably cinch some hair on your knuckles or hand possibly.

But nothing. And basically the picture is that Christians don’t burn. Christians don’t go to hell. Christians are not going to experience the second death. are going to go to heaven and never be heard of the second death because Christ paid the penalty for sin in our place. You know when Adam and Eve sinned, they sinned spiritually first and were spiritually separated from God. They were told in Genesis 2, 17, if they were to eat at the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they would surely die.

The penalty for sin has always been death and they died spiritually at the moment they took of that fruit. Then later they died physically. Both were a part of the penalty, spiritual death and physical death. Jesus on the cross paid the full penalty for your sin and mine, and he died spiritually. First, it says there in the scriptures that he cried out, my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? And that is of course where Jesus the man was forsaken by God as God turned his back on him.

And that separation from God is called death. And that was spiritual separation as Christ was separated from the God the Father. The man Jesus died and experienced spiritual separation. And then a little bit later, Jesus yields up or dismisses his soul and spirit from his body. He had the power to do that. You and I do not have that power. But he dismisses his soul and spirit from his body and he dies physically. So Jesus in the same order as Adam experienced spiritual death and then physical death, Christ also experienced spiritual death and then physical death followed as a complete payment for your sin and mind.

And when a person puts their trust in Christ, they then are saved forever because the full payment for our sin was received by Christ’s death on the cross of Calvary. So the wages of sin is according to Romans 623, not penance, not baptism, not church membership, not prayers, not fasting, not church attendance, not, and the list could go on and on. It’s none of those things. It’s only paid for by death. This is what’s so interesting to me. Penance, if you look up the definition, means a payment for sin.

And many people are taught to do penance, some kind of work, some kind of thing that they might do or give up so that they might earn some kind of payment for their sin, or they might earn points toward heaven. And the whole concept is wrong, totally wrong, because you can only pay for sin by death. Romans 6, 23, the wages of sin is death. It began that way back in Genesis 2017 when God told Adam and Eve if they were to eat that tree and the knowledge of the good and evil, they would surely die.

So death was the penalty. And guess what? People can do penance all their days that they live here on this earth and they’re still going to go to hell because the only way they’ll pay for their sin is by… The second death to be cast into the eternal lake of fire. That’s why Jesus died. He delivered us from that. So I just, I really feel so badly for all of us people who are taught wrong and taught that they can do penance, that they can do some kind of payment for sin here in this life.

When in reality the Bible says it’s impossible. Let me have you go to Romans chapter four with me for just a moment and look if you will at verse four where it says in Romans chapter four. is 4-4. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of mercy or grace but of death. In other words, if you’re attempting to work your way to heaven, in other words if you buy your works or by penance are trying to get rid of your sin, God says you’re not going to have God’s mercy but you’re simply incurring a greater sin dead.

You see because your sins are not being paid for, penance won’t pay for sin, but wages of sin is death. It would mean hell if you paid for your sin. And so as long as you’re doing works to pay for sin, the Bible says that you’re not going to have God’s mercy, but you’re only going to incur a greater debt. But look at verse 5, what an incredible verse Romans 4, 5 says, but to him that worketh not. To him that worketh not are you believing what you’re reading, to Him that workedeth not but believeth or trusteth on Christ who justifies the ungodly, His faith in Christ is counted for righteousness.

Isn’t that amazing? Here it tells us the simple plan of salvation. If you would only recognize that you can’t work your way to heaven, that penance and church membership and baptism and confirmation and prayers and walking the aisle and turning from sin will not save you. But recognize that Christ is a Savior and believe or trust on Him that justifies people like you and me that are ungodly. It says here in Romans 4-5 that your faith in Christ is counted for righteousness.

God will look at you and see you as righteous based upon the fact that Christ substituted himself in our place and that He had paid the full penalty for sin which is spiritual death and physical death so that we would not have to experience the second death, the eternal death. Excuse me, Revelation 20 verse 14 says about the lost. They were cast into the everlasting lake of fire. The Bible says this is the second death. In Revelation 3-5 it talks about believers and it says that rather Revelation 2-10 it says those that are believers will not be hurt of the second death in in Revelation 2.10.

Isn’t that great? Basically, you put in your margin, you’ll never go to hell. You’ll never go to hell. That’s what it means when it says that whosoever believe in him should not perish in John 3.16. To perish would mean to pay for sin by death, or because Christ paid the death penalty for you on your behalf by his substitutionary death of the cross. You will not perish, but you will have present tense verb everlasting life. Think about John 3.16 for God so loved the world, let you.

He gave His only begotten Son that’s Christ, that whosoever believeth in Christ that He made the full payment for your sin by His death in your place, that you would not perish because He perished in your place, but you would have everlasting life. I certainly hope you’ve trusted Christ, the most important decision you’ll ever make in your entire life. I’m Dr. Englunds from This is Bible and we’re looking forward to hearing from you today. The phone number is 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771.

This is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Englunds from we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church. And if you ever come to Tampa, would you come by and say hi. We’d love to have you come by and knock on the door and get a chance to meet you. We do meet many on our worship services when you all come by to say hello again the phone numbers 1-800-576-3771 We have Tom in Fort Myers, Florida who leaves us off air question and he says did Jesus preach a different gospel than the Apostle Paul and What is the gospel or kingdom gospel as compared to the gospel of the Apostle Paul when he calls it by gospel?

No, Jesus preached the same gospel. That is the gospel of salvation is the same. Look at John 3 16. We just quoted it for God’s love the world. That’s Jesus. We’re quoting that he gave his only begotten son as Jesus. We’re talking about there that Whosoever believeeth in Christ should not perish but have everlasting life. He tells us that we’re saved just by faith alone in Christ alone Paul says the same thing as you read the gospel story at 1631 Paul says believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.

Same as John 3.16, same gospel. The Kingdom Gospel was temporarily preached, offering Israel the Kingdom. Basically it says that the Kingdom of God was at hand, or the Kingdom of Heaven was at hand. The King was here on the earth, and should he have been received by Israel as their King, he would have established the thousand-year Millennial Kingdom 2000 years ago. If that had happened, you and I would not have been born. The past 2000 years would not have occurred.

The church age would have never have come to pass, but because God and his four-knowledge knew that he would be rejected, he had this wonderful plan of turning to us Gentiles for the past 2000 years. But certainlyternal Paul preached the same gospel as Peter and Peter as Christ. And in fact, the gospel has always been the same for salvation from Genesis to Revelation. Thank you, Tom, and Fort Myers-Forta for calling in with that question. We have now John in Richmond, Virginia, and John, welcome to Bibleline your own ear.

Yes, Dr. Hank, how are you doing, sir? Good. All right. I just wanted to ask you a question. I see some of the pastors like to use, I think it’s Hebrews, 13, verse 17. All right. And it seems as if they’re using it to control their conversation, the family, sit there the watch of his soul, they’re almost like they’re standing in the middle man like Christ. And I wanted you to do a ceremony on that path of prescription to see if you can clarify it for me a little bit.

Well obviously as Paul said, and I’ll quote this before I go there but thank you John, Paul said be followers of me even as I also follow Christ. So you’re never obligated to follow leadership that would lead you contrary to the Bible or the Word of God. That’s made very clear in the Bible. And of course those in leadership are required to have sound doctrine. And they’re required to protect the purity of the doctrine of the church, those that are in leadership, and keep the doctrine sound.

And certainly that’s what it’s saying here in this chapter as well, that we are to follow those who I want to jump up to verse 7 of this chapter Hebrews 1st and it says, remember them which have the rule over you who have spoken unto you what the Word of God. So notice the ones that you are to follow, the ones that you are to listen to are those those who have spoken unto you what? Not fiction, not their personal opinions, not their doctrinal views, not their denominational statements, but you need to remember those which have the rule over you who have spoken unto you the Word of God, whose faith follow.

And then it goes down to verse 17 that you’re asking the question about, obey them that have the rule over you and submit yourselves for they watch for your souls as they must give an account. So those in leadership will give an account before the living God one day, but we’re only to follow them as they preach unto us the Word of God and are asking us to follow them even as they follow Christ. So if you are under the leadership of some nutcase or somebody who is doctrinally unsound, not obligated at all to follow them.

It says very clearly in verse 7, and I hope you’ll mark this verse, remember them which have the rule over you who has spoken unto you, and I have highly highlighted in my Bible, it says who have spoken unto you the word of God. So that’s the key. So if your preacher is online with scripture, then follow him as he follows Christ. But if your preacher is not doctrinally sound, then you are not to follow him. In fact, the opposite, it says were to come out from among them and be separate.

And so John, up in Richmond, Virginia, thank you for that call. And I hope that helped. And we appreciate your listening up there in Richmond. John in St. Petersburg calls in and he says, when Jesus was on the cross, why did he say, my God, instead of my Father? And the reason why I believe is because… He is here facing God as a man and as a substitutionary payment for our sins. And so he’s facing the living God as a sinner.

Although he was without sin, he became sin so that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. And so I think that’s why he does that. All right, if you’d like to call in the phone number here, Bibleline is 1-800-5. 576-3771. If you’re in the area we have our last two classes. Tomorrow night on Jesus is coming class 9 and 10. You might want to order this series. And when we offer these series now, they are available to take on the internet from anywhere in the world.

And we had people subscribing to this class in other parts of the country. And you’re welcome to do the same on the next one we offer. And of course, we hope you’ll recognize that We have our worship service sermons up on the internet as well. You can watch this for free. All you have to do is click on that camera on the home page and you’ll be in. We have all-faired Tim and Tam before it. He calls in and he says, please define apostasy.

You have the Schofield Bible. Schofield has a wonderful note on apostasy. I would recommend that you get the Schofield Bible if you don’t have it. If you haven’t, then go ahead and take a look at the note there. But basically it is a departure from sound doctrine. And boy, the church today, the body of Christ, or at least the visible church, many of which I think today are not saved at all, are departing away from the truths of the Word of God.

In fact, it’s interesting that sometimes they don’t even really care what the Bible has to say. They will hold to their traditions and hold to their teachings even above the Bible. Isn’t that amazing? And I’ll never forget it’s as fresh as when it happened. One day I quoted John 3.16 to a gentleman and I simply said, for God so loved the world that he gave has only been gotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

And he said to me, that’s your interpretation. That’s your interpretation. And I said to myself, what did I do? All I did was quote the verse. Well, what I did was I took my Bible, I handed it to him, and I said, well, would you please interpret it for me? I said, what are you going to make this first say? You can’t, it was so clear obviously you didn’t like what it said, and so you said that was my interpretation and all I did was read it to you, but you interpret it.

For God so loved the world, what does that mean that he hated the world? That he gave his only begotten son? What does that mean? That who’s so ever? Anyone? What does that mean? Believe it. What does that mean? Should not perish. What does that mean? Have everlasting life. What does that mean? I mean, if you break it down phrase by phrase, you can’t make it say anything you want it to say. It wasn’t my interpretation. The verse was so clear, it just apparently hit it right between the eyes, because I just quoted the verse, it wasn’t my interpretation.

I said, I just quoted it to you, I didn’t interpret anything. It’s amazing though, people have their preconceived ideas, and I’ll never forget, it’s almost like people are saying sometimes, Get away from me with those facts. Those facts are confusing me. I know what I believe. You’re messing my head here because you’re coming at me with facts that disagree with what I already believe. Get away from me. One young lady told me, you’re confusing me. I said, no, I’m unconfusing you.

You’ve been confused all your life and now you’re getting unconfused. That’s really true. The Bible is a book that will unconfuse us. The author of confusion, according to 1 Corinthians 14, is Satan. And when you go to the scriptures, you get unconfused as you get delivered from the power of Satan and are illuminated through God’s Word so that you know the truth and you don’t have to walk around in darkness anymore. We’re going to go now to Adam and Tampa and Adam, welcome to Bibleline.

Good to have you on the air. He’s a pterment coming. Yes it is. In fact, there were three of them there that got to see the second coming of Christ. And if you look at chapter 17 verse 1, it says, and after six days, Jesus took Peter, James, and John, his brother, and he was transfigured, and they saw him as he will be in the second coming. six days after he said that three of the disciples that were standing there were still living that did not see death.

It didn’t die before they got to see the Second Coming of Christ. So that’s exactly what it’s about. And I think verse one there, chapter 17 also has an interesting hint for us here. It says, after six days, that might be an allusion to the creative week in Genesis. And it’s really saying as each of those days might represent a thousand years that after six thousand years that Christ would come back and he would establish that seventh day that seven thousand years called the day of the Lord and so I think it’s a quite a fascinating passage and so yes he allowed some right that we’re standing with him that we’re living Peter James and John to see the second What’s the second coming?

That’s one more question. Sure. It might be a question about discernment, but I understand that Jesus taught about forgiveness and forgiving people, you know, seven times seven or whatever. But the question that I have is in 1 Corinthians it talks about how if somebody calls himself a brother but lives, you know, lives in sin, do not even really eat with them. Can you just kind of help me out with that? Absolutely. I think you might have to do that.

it after a break because we’re coming right up on it time goes so fast we’ll be be right back after this short break so stay tuned to Bible and we’ll come back and deal with that of special when we get back. Don’t go away Bible and we’ll be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. I’m Dr. Englund. It’s great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning in to the broadcast. We love and appreciate all of you who listen and hope you’re enjoying the program.

This is Monday and we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church. And I hope that you’ll enjoy the programs all week long. And you know, if you miss one or two, you can go to the internet and catch them later in a different time, whenever it’s convenient for you. We’re on the internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and you can catch your favorite program, and you can download them in the MP3 format.

You can sign up for the web casting which podcasting rather so that these programs will automatically download your computer so you can have them there and put them on your iPod and carry them around with you and listen throughout the week. I hope you’ll do that. Take advantage. And also our TV programs. If you have a video iPod you’ll be able to watch our television programs carry them with you on your video iPod and you can play them. That’s your leisure.

Again, we thank you for tuning in to Bible on. I want you to know that we appreciate you and we would ask if you would. Pray for us. Would you pray for Bible on? Put us on your prayer list. Pray for us regularly. Many tell us that they pray for us every day and we sure do appreciate that very, very much. Also, would you consider giving to Bible on? We are supported solely and completely by our listeners. We have no other source of income.

And we have to pay the bills or we don’t go on the air. So it’s just a matter of economics and it’s a true partnership. And I believe that’s the way God would have it. If I have the resources, I’d do it without asking anybody. But that’s really not what God wants. He wants us to partner together. And that way we can equally share in the rewards. And that’s what the Bible teaches. So, as you give to a ministry that thousing fruit, the Bible says that fruit would abound to your account.

It says that in Philippians 4, 17, Paul talks to the Philippian believers about giving and he says, not that I desire a gift. I’m not trying to get your money. He says that I desire fruit that may abound to your account. Adversus forever changed my whole concept of giving. while when I give smartly where the Bible is being taught and people are getting saved and being challenged and going into Christian work and living for Christ and wives are being dedicated to serving Him, I’m going to get that fruit on my account as I give to a ministry that produces that kind of fruit.

So it’s a wise investment. We certainly hope that you’ll consider that. You can do it by credit card over the phone. You can call in and ask our operators to send you an envelope or address on it. And you can mail a gift to Bibleline. In any case, call or 800 number and talk to our operators about giving a gift to Bibleline this month. We’re ready to do Bibleline in the second half hour. Stay tuned right here and we’ll be right back.

576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back from that break and this is by the line in the second half hour. We believe Jesus is coming and we believe very soon. I have about 40 sets of teachings where I’ve done 10 to 12 hours on a particular topic, including the book of Revelation, the book of Daniel, and the book of Zachariah and other exciting books, including the book of Romans, the book of Hebrews, the book of Jude, and others, you might want to get a resource list by calling our 800 number and or you can go to the website BibleLineMinistries.org or .com and there you can look on our online bookstore and you’ll see all the different things that we have available.

We have an incredible book here called None of These Diseases, written by a medical doctor, several million copies sold. It actually shows how the Bible predates modern medicine by at least 3000 years. Well, teaches you how to live healthier. That title comes right out of the book of Exodus where God had promised Israel if they would only follow the rules that he gave that they would have none of the diseases upon them that were upon the people in Egypt.

What a great book that is, and I love it, and we have that available, and we have the Strongs Concordance. What a great book that is. It’s bigger than a yellow pages of your phone book, but it has every the, every thou, every and every but every shelf in the whole Bible. Partially quotes every verse where a verse, where a word is found that you’re looking up, you’ll easily find a missing verse that you couldn’t find for a long time.

And it has an number code system so that you have access to the Hebrew and Greek scholarship of 200 Greek and Hebrew scholars and can look up the original word what it meant in the original and how it’s translated throughout the Bible and all for a few dollars. It’s not very much at all. I hope you would add that to your library. That is an essential of anybody who wants to get a little bit serious about studying the Bible.

We have a great book about the different modern translations. It covers about 20 of them and it’s called New Age Bible Versions. It’ll blow your socks off. be shocked at some of the translations that are out there that are popular that are really, really perverting the word of God. You know we’re commanded in Revelation 22 not to add or take away and I’m afraid that these translators, many of them, are doing that. That’s a problem. Well in any case, you might want to get that one to add to your library.

We have the Schofield Bible. What I’m excited about now is we’ve got a brand new one in here. It’s really two Bibles in one. It’s Schofield, which is what I like. But on the left page, it’s English. King James translation with Scofield’s notes on the right side it’s Spanish with the notes of Dr. Scofield in Spanish. That’s right. So it’s thick and it’s leather-bound. It’s beautiful and it’s really two Bibles in one. So on the left side you’ll read it in English.

The King James Bible with Scofield’s notes in English. On the right side you’ll read the Bible in Spanish with the Scofield notes in Spanish. That is a jewel and we are excited about having that in our Resource Center. You might want to get one of those notes. If you just want the Spanish Schofield, we do have that also. I love this where you get two Bibles in one, and beautifully leather-bound. You can be looking on the left page and read it in English and on the right side, read it in Spanish.

And have the Schofield Notes in there too as a real treat. I hope you’ll get some of these things and get a resource sheet. You can call and ask for one to be mailed to you. You can also go on our website and take a look at the different things that we have available. We are, of course, thankful for all of you who give the Bible out if you haven’t given this month. We have a few days left and we could use your help to finish up February where we need to be.

So if you would like to give a gift before February is over, this is a short month. It’s going to end on Wednesday. I hope you’ll consider calling and just give a gift by credit card or call our operators and get an envelope sent to you and send a check or gift to Bible and by mail. God bless you in advance. Thank you for praying for and giving the Bible and making this all possible. Well we have Adam who asked the question before the break and I’m going to answer that.

It’s over in 1st Corinthians 5 what he’s talking about. He’s talking about where we have to have discernment and not fellowship with people that are breaking the rules as a Christian. It says in verse 9, I write unto you in an epistle, not the company with foreignicators, yet not altogether with the foreignicators of this world or with the covetous or extortioners or with idolaters, for then must one needs to go out of the world. In other words, basically we can’t avoid people who commit sins.

But if there is a believer that is openly sinning, we’re not to fellowship with them. It says, now I have written unto you, verse 11, not to keep company. If any man that is called a brother be a fornicator or covetous or an adult or a rail or drunkard or extortioner, it says with such a one, no not to eat. So basically we ought to not hang with them. You know the Bible says bad, evil companions corrupt good manners.

When we hang with the wrong people, they drag us down and certainly you shouldn’t hang with somebody who claims that they’re Christian. And that doesn’t mean you can’t talk to them on the phone, you can’t say hi to them on the street. But when we talk about fellowship, we’re talking about to be intimate and be close to those can’t be your close friends if you want to be a strong Christian, you have to back off. And look for Christians that are going to lift you up.

They’re going to strengthen you, encourage you. That’s the kind of people you need to hang with. And if you just read the first song, it’s beautiful instructions there about not listing and having company with you and Godly and listing to their counsel because ultimately they drag you down rather than lifting you up. Thank you, Adam. I hope that helps. We’re now going to go to Kyle in Sarasota, Florida. Kyle, welcome to Bible Land. Hey, Dr. Hank. Good to hear from you.

Hey, I got two questions. Kind of cost those in general. Do they believe that you can lose your salvation? And number two, do Mormons recognize the deity of Christ? All right. And good questions. And the Pentecostals, almost 99% believe you can lose your salvation. doctrine is flawed across the board and unfortunately that being the case means that they’re not saved. If you believe you can lose it you’re really trusting in how you’re gonna live your life out till the last day you draw breath on the sirth to determine whether you make heaven or not that makes salvation based on works and based upon you and I make you the Savior not Christ and so that’s hard for them to see sometimes because they claim they trust in Christ but in reality, they are saying that how they live their life ultimately determines their salvation, which is really works.

And the Mormons, yeah, they denied the deity Christ. The God of Mormonism is not the Christ of the Bible nor the God of the Bible, and the Christ of Mormonism is the brother of Satan. Did you know that? Yeah, according to Mormon theology, Elohim, a Spirit God, living on the planet Cola. That’s right. The planet Cola. They’re aliens. And he was spitting out spiritual children left and right by the tons. And they needed to provide bodies for them. So they had a little council with 12 of his sons.

Jesus, one of them, Lucifer was another one. I’m sitting there, 12 of them. And they drew straws and Jesus became the Adam God to come to earth and create bodies for these spirit beings. And of course, Lucifer got jealous and came down later. And you know what? For more mythology teaches they don’t say it real loud today because it’s not politically correct but they say that all the black races came from Lucifer, that he came down because he was jealous of Jesus the Adam God and that he created all the black races.

So everybody that’s black with their skin comes from Lucifer or Satan. Did you know that? Well, that doesn’t make me happy and I’m sure it wouldn’t make you if you’re of the black race happy with the Mormons. But that’s what they teach. They’re a little bit more quiet today about that. But they believe all the black races came from Satan or Lucifer. That’s Mormonism for you. They are aliens. They are not Christian. They are not close to the Bible at all.

They claim their Latter-day Saints of Jesus Christ, but they are not even close to being Christian at all. Don’t be fooled by the Mormons. Thank you for that call down there in Sarasota, Florida. We have Elaine calling in from Houston, Texas. Elaine, welcome to Bible Unword. Glad to have you on the air. Yes, good morning. Thank you. You’re welcome. I have a question about, you know, in the Bible, we have always so many different contrasting stories. And what comes to mind, physically, is David and Joseph.

And we always have teachings on both of those great men, but they both still under similar temptations in one’s fill and one’s brand. How do we address that in teaching people about the difference with those two men? Because sometimes I’ve heard, even from Christian men, say, well, you know, God used David, and he failed, but God used him, so why could Joseph in front of my face and you feel that’s an example. Well that’s an interesting, it sounds like somebody wants to twist the Bible the way they wanted to go.

Joseph was an excellent type of Christ and he became a deliverer to his brothers, the nation of Israel and infancy down in Egypt when the seven lean years came. He had already stockpiled or in the seven fat years and he became a savior and certainly was a one who had high moral standards when he was invited by Potiphar’s wife to have sex.

He ran out of the house, but she grabbed part of his garment and then claimed that he had attempted a rape or any went to prison for that. But he was a wonderful example of purity. David certainly was never commended for his sin. In fact, got chasteening for it. And If you read Psalm 51, David said that he pretty much felt beat up after he had done that because God definitely brought the consequences to him. And those consequences were carried down into his children and so on.

There was a big mess there that all developed because of his sin. But Joseph didn’t have those kind of problems because he didn’t commit those sins. So basically, Galatians 5 I think says that if you want to have a life full of turmoil, just go ahead and live after the flesh. But if you want to have a life of peace and joy, then live after the spirit and it says you’ll have the fruit of the spirit which is love and joy and peace and long suffering and gentleness and meat and so on.

But otherwise it says you’ll have revelings and drunkenness and murders and adult frees and all those things come by living after the flesh. Bible says in Galatians 5, 16 which I believe is the key to the Christian life. Walk in the Spirit or in the direction the Spirit of God leads us to walk as He is the author of scripture as we read the Bible and will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Obviously David got into trouble because he fulfilled the lust of his flesh and he paid a prize for it.

Joseph was a man who didn’t do that and you see the different consequences in his children and in his life after that and you see in David, he suffered some serious consequences for his sin. But he was still safe. So I would say that that’s the answer. I think you have to say there were consequences and you can go back and see what those consequences were and David had a lot of misery as a result of his sin. But even though that person will maybe say to you, yeah, but God still used him.

Well, it’s true. And God can even use a donkey, you know, to speak to them, you know? Right. So, I mean, absolutely God in His grace and mercy can use you, but not to the degree He could use you if you remain true and faithful. What do you think God used those different examples like that in the Bible? Just to show the difference between the fall of sin versus the state? I think the Bible doesn’t hide the flaws in its heroes.

And I think if this book were written by men, it would probably screen all those things out and make us think that these people were absolutely walking without sin. And of course that’s not true. But also, it’s It tells us in 1 Corinthians, and I think this is a good answer here. It says that God has chosen, verse 27 of 1 Corinthians 1, the foolish things of the world that confound the wise, God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty, and the base things of the world, and things which are despised have God chosen, yea, and things which are not to bring to not things that are, and here’s There’s the answer that no flesh should glory in his presence.

We really have to say it’s God who is the one who gives the increase. It’s God who gives the blessing. He does it by using flawed creatures. We’re made of play, the Bible says, and we can develop cracks and we can fall apart. But the Bible says that he has entrusted his gospel in these earth and vessels and wants us to become dependent upon him. In Gideon’s battle, when he broke the clay pots and they saw those torches, the enemy fled and he won the victory.

And basically, I think when we become broken and fall upon the Lord and dependence upon him and serve him faithfully, then our light shines. the light that Christ is given to be within us so that we can be a powerful influence to the world around us. So we’re all sinners and God has used many. The story of Amazing Grace was written by Chip Captain who apparently was running slaves from Africa and had a pretty notorious life. He met a young lady who was a Christian who got saved and then as he reflected back on his new life he became a pastor.

He wrote to him amazing grace that saved a wretch like me and how so many have been able to identify with that song and God saved sinners. We were lost and we become found and it’s amazing grace that would forgive sinners who would sometimes commit terrible crimes and yet God is willing to forgive you because he loved you and he died on the cross to pay for your sins. One day we’ll figure maybe we’ll see clear how great the love of God is.

Thank you very much. Thank you for calling from Houston, Texas and that’s exciting for us to hear from you and we now have Vinny in Hudson, Florida and Vinny welcome to Bibleline. Good morning Dr. Lynch term always a pleasure to talk to you. Thank you. A couple questions. I was reading in Jude and in verse 9 when it talks about Michael the Archangel. From that verse can we assume that there’s only one Archangel and it’s Michael? Yep. And there are only three angels named by name in the Bible, Michael the Archangel, Gabriel, the messenger angel, both God’s angels and Lucifer, Satan, the enemy of God.

That’s it. So there’s only one archangel. Right. Okay. That’s good. Now, in Revelation, I believe it’s chapter five, verse nine, when it’s talking about the four beasts with the 24 elders. Yeah, chapter four. Chapter four, I’m sorry. Do we know, are those cherubim and seraphim, do we know? I think they’re cherubs. carabs and it seems like that’s the description they are uh… apparently quite strange looking here right now they uh… they have a full of eyes before and behind and you might know it’ll be like if we had eyes in the back of our head we get back up and that it’s something by understanding but uh…

it seems like they they can sing according to the verse there yeah i’d be only one that i’ve seen that where it says they sung a new song yeah but i don’t see anywhere else where angels saying i have yet to find that well i think you will know and one other thing this is kind of interesting i don’t know how far you follow politics through is had in the ring to be co-professing mormon We’re living in an interesting time when…

Could prophecy be coming about now because of all this? I wonder. Well, we just have to keep our eyes open. No doubt about it. It’s quite a switch for our country that’s come from a pure Christian base to this point where that’s a potential anyway. Yeah, and we’ve had Muslims who Take their oath on the Quran instead of the Bible that sits in Congress. Yeah strange times We’re living and I believe we’re getting close like you said. I think we are too It’s definitely gonna be a world religion and all this is gonna kind of combine together under one church under the False prophet during the tribulation period.

We’re gonna go up to Richmond, Virginia again this time We’re gonna talk to Vernon and a Vernon welcome to Bibleline. Well, good morning doctor uh… let’s come i just like to take god bless uh… you in your ministry i think you have a very powerful ministry i had a question for you this morning uh… i’m doing a uh… bible study on long ones and in the book that i’m uh… you know using as a uh… real statement made that sin sin come through imitation not propagation and uh…

i’d like to hear your opinion on that i don’t believe uh… i don’t know if i I think it’s wrong because we Adam sinned and then sin passed upon the whole human race. So chapter 5 verse 12 would refute that because sin came through the man and has passed down to every human being from Adam and we have as the world has been propagated we’ve been propagated as sinners and it’s not by imitation it’s by propagation so that whoever is commentary that is I think they’re flawed big time right well I was my feeling but I decided I would call you and get your opinion on well thank you very much well you’re very welcome in this not really my opinion because it says here in verse 12 of chapter 5 where as or where for as by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin so death passed upon all men for all have sin it

It has been passed on through Adam and the rest of the chapter says it quite clearly that by one man this was all brought about and that sin reigned and passed down through Adam to all of us. We now have a waiting force is Scott in Tampa, Florida and Scott, welcome to Bibleline You’re on the air. Yes, Dr. Lindstrom. I’m wondering if you could give me your opinion on the organization called the Gideon International, Men Who Distribute Bibles. I like the Gideon’s very much.

I’m a little bit disappointed now that they’re publishing the New King James, which I think is flawed, but they’ve gotten Bibles in all the world that seems with their different branches. And a lot of people got the same just by reading that Bible in a motel room or in a hospital room and I have sure appreciated that they’ve left the Bible there. Sometimes when I didn’t have mine and I was, had to stay in a hotel or I was in the hospital there, the Bible was there thanks to the Gideon’s God bless them.

And they basically, that’s their main ministries. You have to word of God out there and they provide them for service men and for children and they have lots of different branches but I like the giddings. Very good. Thank you so much for your help. All right. Thank you, Scott. And I believe the giddings are doing a wonderful, wonderful work. Tom in Lutz, Florida calls in and he asked about Hebrews chapter 3 verse 12 and he says, Please explain. Does this mean that a believer can become an unbeliever?

No, it doesn’t mean it at all. It says take heed brethren. That’s a believer. Unless there be, in any view, an evil heart of unbelief into parting from the living God. Talking about a believer, getting away from serving the Lord, even as the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt and were redeemed to people, redeemed by the blood of the Passover lamb departed from the living God in unbelief, not believing that God could take them into the Promised Land.

They obviously had seen him destroy the Egyptian army and deliver them from Egypt, but now had difficulty believing that he could take them into the Promised Land. So Christians can become unbelievers in that sense, in that they don’t move forward in their faith as a believer and grow and take the challenges and trust God to get them through them. And that certainly is true for all of us. We need to be careful. Take heed that that doesn’t happen. Well, thank you for listening today.

We are coming up on the end of the program and we had calls from all around and we have many more that are trying to get up on the air and we just can’t get them in today because of the hour. But if you haven’t trusted Christ, would you do it? Just whisper that prayer. Just say, Lord, I’m a sinner. I don’t understand much, but I believe Jesus died for me and paid for my sin by his death and shed blood was buried in rose again from the dead.

I trust him right now to save me and God. I’ll save you, my friend, the moment you trust Him, that’s the wonderful promise of God’s Word. Then make a second decision to serve Him. That’s where the blessings come in. That’s where the joy and the rewards come in when you begin to serve. But we’re saved by faith alone and we don’t contribute anything to that, but simply receive it. But after we’re saved, our works will bring about reward and blessing.
