We hope you will. about the Bible for a little bit and then we’re going to take our cars. A lot of confusion about the word converted. What is interesting is that the word conversion means change. It is generally used in the Bible to talk about the change that occurs in a person’s life when they fully dedicate themselves to Christ.
It is not a good word to use about the salvation experience because it does imply works. People ask me, Hank, when were you converted? Well, I tell them about a year after I got saved. I always have people, their mouths drop open and they look at me kind of funny. What do you mean by that? Yeah, it was a year after I got saved that I got converted. Let me just talk to you about a passage in Luke 22.
And here we have Jesus talking to Peter on the night of the betrayal. And here we have Jesus saying to Peter in verse 31, Simon Simon, Behold Satan hath desired to have you that he may sift you as wheat. Verse 32, But I have prayed for thee that thy faith fail not. And when thou art converted, and when thou art converted, he’s talking to Peter on the night of the betrayal, and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren, you know, Peter didn’t get converted until three years after he got saved.
Peter didn’t get converted until after the resurrection of Jesus Christ again from the dead. Isn’t that interesting? That’s Luke chapter 22. I know you’re scrambling for a pencil right now to write this down. 22, verse 32, Jesus is praying for Peter. The night of the betrayal, he says, I have prayed for thee that thy faith fail not, and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. And just two verses later, Jesus tells Peter, The cock shall not crow this day before thou thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me?”
Wow! I stood very close to where that event took place back in March of this year. We were in Israel and we went to the place of Peter’s denial. There’s an incredible piece of art there, a bronze statue of Peter warming his hands at the fire. You see his hands stretched out over this fire. You see a damsel there to his left and she is obviously the one that said, aren’t you one of Christ’s disciples? And Peter denies that he even knows the Lord.
Beautiful piece of artwork in. It is amazing. Then by a Jewish artist and Peter denies the Lord three times that night. Wow. And it wasn’t until after the resurrection that Peter becomes the bold spokesperson, the bold leader of the disciples. You know, on the day of Pentecost, he stood up before the very leadership of Israel, and he said, you men of Israel, and he accuses them of their wicked hands taking and crucifying Jesus Christ. But Peter says, but God raised him from the dead.
Peter was bold. He was fearful the night of the betrayal. Peter was cursing and swearing and saying, I don’t even know the man referring to Christ. But here after the resurrection, after the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, Peter becomes that bold dynamic leader that Christ was talking about here, I think in Luke 22. It says here, Peter, I prayed for thee, Jesus says, that thy faith fail not, and when thou art converted, when thou art converted, when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren, Peter wasn’t converted my friend until three years after he got saved.
Peter was not converted until after the resurrection of Christ. Well, you know, as I said before, I enjoy when people ask me that question, Hank, when were you converted and I get to tell them about a year after I got saved I got converted and I have these strange looks and mouths drop open but it gives me a wonderful opportunity to separate the difference between salvation which occurs when we simply trust Christ. And then the experience where you dedicate your life to Christ.
And that’s when conversion or change really occurs. My life didn’t change much after I got saved until I made my decision to serve the Lord. And then I was truly converted. Obviously there was change in my life as I chose to live for Christ every day. I was 18 when I got saved. I was 19 when I dedicated my life to Christ. And so it was at that point I became converted. Now you say, well, wait a minute, wait a minute.
There are just a couple of references where it’s used about salvation, but they’re always defined. In other words, the definition of conversion is limited. I’m going to turn over to Matthew’s Gospel and we’ll look at one of those. Here, Jesus called a little child. unto him and set him in the midst of them, and said, verily I stand you, except ye be converted and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Wow! So, this is now conversion referring to salvation, clearly.
But what does he do? He defines conversion here as becoming as a little child. What do we know about little children? They are absolutely 100% totally dependent upon their parents for survival. You know if you have a young child and if you don’t feed them and you don’t care for them, they’re probably going to die. Unless somebody else takes over that role for you, a little child is dependent. They’re also so trusting. I can take my little granddaughter and I can throw her up in the air and she doesn’t get frightened.
She knows that I will catch her. And she loves that. She’ll squeal and get excited and enjoy it very much because childlike faith is the kind of faith that you have to have to be saved to simply, totally and completely trust God, the Father, to save you when you put your trust in Jesus Christ, His Son, is the only means of your salvation. So Jesus obviously defines conversion here in a very limited way. He says in Matthew 18-3, Verily I say unto you, Except you be converted and become as little children.
You shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. In other words, you have to totally and completely trust God to save you. That’s what the Bible says. Salvation is by grace, by mercy. Ephesians 2, 8, and 9. Ephesians 2, 8, and 9 says, By grace, by mercy. Are you saved through faith in Jesus Christ? And that not of yourselves, It is the gift of God. Not of works. What does any man should boast? That requires trust that you can totally rely on God’s words, that he will save all those that simply come to him and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ at the cross of Calvary.
When were you converted? Well you may not have been converted to this yet. You know, there are some Christians that are saved for years and years and years and years and never experienced conversion. Did you know that that’s right? I am so glad I made my second choice After choosing the trust Christ to become saved. I a year later Chose to be converted. I chose to serve Christ and my life changed But I was not converted when I got saved it was about a year later in Peter’s case We just studied it Luke 22 32 you, Jesus tells Peter on the night of the betrayal that he was not yet converted.
That’s right. He says, Peter, after you’re converted, strengthen your brethren. And that didn’t occur until after the resurrection and probably not until Pentecost. Then the fearful, coward Peter, who denied with cursing and swearing that he never even knew the Lord, now stands boldly before the leadership of Israel and says, You, men of Israel, know assuredly that that same Jesus that you took by wicked hands and crucified God hath made both Lord and Christ. And he proclaims the gospel without fear.
was a different man at that point. But he was saved at the beginning of his apostleship, but he wasn’t converted until after the resurrection. Do you find that interesting? I certainly do. And I’ve been surprised that so many things that I was taught were wrong. And I love that opportunity. If you ever asked me sometime Hank, when were you converted? I’ll tell you my answer now. I’ll tell you it was about a year. He said, I need a lot of Christians who have never been converted and yet they’re saved.
It’s not the same thing. It’s not the same thing. You’ll find that in Matthew 18 there does the word converted is used in salvation, but Christ defines it and limits the meaning to becoming childlike in your faith. totally depend upon God to save you and not depend upon yourself. A child cannot take care of themselves. They have to totally be dependent upon their parents for survival. To be saved, you have to totally trust Jesus as your Savior. There is no other way.
Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. I’m Dr. Englunds from the Bible and we’re going to be taking our callers now. If you I want to call in the phone number seems to be, it is 1-800-576-3771. I think we still have a few phone line problems. So really be aggressive. Keep dialing, keep dialing, and we’re going to try to get you up on the air. We have Benjamin who’s been waiting patiently in Clearwater.
Benjamin, welcome to my one year on the air. Good morning, Dr. Hank. I have a question here about Daniel chapter 9 verse 24. He said about, so, okay, in Daniel 20, I mean Daniel 9. 9, chapter 9, verse 24, say, this is anointing somebody there, and I don’t know if that anointing is for Jesus or that anointing is for the temple. No, I believe that’s the anointing of Christ himself and the anointing. took place I think in Matthew there when John the Baptist baptized him and that occurred in the first coming.
Actually all of these things, there are six things mentioned in verse 24 of Daniel 9 and all of them will be fulfilled when the 70 weeks of years are up. But the last seven years, the 70th week of Daniel is still hanging out there. Once the rapture happens, the last seven years on this clock of God will tick off. In other words, so far 483 years or 69 weeks of years have ticked off the clock and that brought us to the death of Christ.
You’ll notice in verse 26 it says after the 69 weeks, we’re completed that the Messiah would be cut off but not for Himself. He died to pay for the sins of the world. And after that clock stopped ticking at that point, the Romans came and destroyed the city of Jerusalem and the temple. Verse 26 tells us that and that obviously ended God’s dealing with Israel up until now. We are now close to the Rapture and once the Rapture happens, God’s clock will start ticking again in His plan for Israel.
So we have seven years that are still hanging out there, and during that time apparently a rebuilt temple will exist. It will happen I think right after the Rapture. And the Antichrist, verse 27, will cause the sacrifices that will have been resumed after the Rapture in Israel, in Jerusalem, and he will stop the sacrifices and himself claim that he is God from the temple in Jerusalem and demand worship. And then he will rule and reign as a enterprise for three and a half more years until the end of the seven years.
Then Christ comes back and concludes the seventieth week, the last of those seventy weeks of seven years, a total of 490 years, and all of the prophecies in verse 24 would then be fulfilled. So hopefully that helps Benjamin and thank you very much for your call. Again, keep trying on the phones because we have a problem with our phone unit here. I think we’re only able to use one or two of our many lines. We now have George and Paul Marber and he asks a question and he left it off here.
He says, is it okay for a pastor to use the new American Standard Bible? And basically I don’t like the New American Standard. I have interviewed Dr. Frank Logston. Frank Logston was the man who headed up the translating committee for the New American Standard. Hey Basically, they just simply took the American Standard and made it new. And he also said that he got caught up in all of this and said that once later people pointed out problems with it, he did his homework, and he said that he asked God to forgive him for having anything to do with a new American Standard Bible.
He pointed out to me, I had a wonderful time in his home talking to Frank, and he was a former pastor of Moody. He went out to California where a wealthy man wanted to make this new American standing. He said that he hired all of the people involved. He said, you’ll never see a list of the people who were involved in the new American Senate. They were just ordinary pastors, not any specific language skills. He said they were paid $3.50 an hour and he said that’s what you got.
And he said that he’s embarrassed to say that he was the head of that whole thing. He wrote the preface in the New American Standard, Dr. Frank Logson. And there are numerous problems. It adds works to salvation, changes to the gospel, and drops phrases. Jesus and doesn’t tell you that they’re dropped and that’s unfortunate. One of those that bothers me a lot is just simple ones that like in John 647, one of my favorite verses, it says in John 647, very, very, I say unto you, he that believeth on me has everlasting life.
That’s in the King James. In the New American Standard, it says, he who believes has everlasting life. Well, it doesn’t tell you on whom you’re to believe, even Satan believes. I mean, that’s meaningless. And so tragically, the most two important words in the verse are gone in the New American standard. He who believes has everlasting life. The King James says, he who believes on me, you have to trust Christ in order to be saved. He may be totally ignorant of all of that.
And I have a sheet here that talks about the changes in the New Americans’ Center. We also have the book New Age Bible Versions that really will open your eyes to what is going on. It’s about an 800-page book and covers about 20 of the modern translations and shows you the changes, the deletions, and the problems that really is scary. It really is scary. Anyway, in any case, the English translation, the English Standard Version came in 1885. Lasted about 10 years, nobody liked it, it dropped off the market.
The Americans took the same English Standard Version and made the American Standard Version. It also died in about 10 years. It wasn’t very popular. The copyright ran out, I think somewhere in the 50s, And this new American Standard came along and it was simply the American Standard made new. Nothing really new. But it seems to make the deity of Christ rest on our vote. It says in 1 Timothy 3 16, in the King James, without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness that God was manifest in the flesh.
Well guess what? In the new American Standard, it says, by our common confession. That seems to imply that we have to vote on this thing and that we vote about the beginning price, but then it says he was manifest in the flesh. That’s meaningless because you’re manifest in the flesh. I’m manifest in the flesh. It’s not significant unless you say as the Bible says in the King James, God was manifest in the flesh. That’s the uniqueness of Christ. In any case, George, I hope that helps you and I hope some of you will call and order So that book we have it here, New Age Bible Versions, and you’ll find it incredible.
I think it’s a gift, I know, $15 something. But for a 700 page book that’s really, it’s a great Bible study, by the way. In addition, it’s not just a boring book. In fact, it really covers how the deity of Christ is attacked, the Trinity is attacked, the doctrine of salvation is attacked, and on and on, you’ll find it very fascinating as a Bible study as well. All right, we’re going to go on to some more questions here. The phone number, if you’d like to dial in, is 1-800-576-3771.
I believe we have Dale, is that a life call? No, we don’t. Dale, in Winterhaven, calls in and he’s asking to explain X217. Well, Acts 2 17, let me turn there to make sure I’m on the same page with you, Dale. And we’re glad that you’re listening over there in Winterhaven. Let’s see your Acts. Chapter 2 in verse 17 it says, and it shall come to pass in the last days, say, I have got all part of my spirit upon all flesh.
We answered that I think last week, but the Holy Spirit has not been poured out upon all flesh as yet. What Peter is saying here is that the prophecy back in Joel 2 28, there about the Holy Spirit being poured out upon all flesh, that the same Holy Spirit promised there was the Holy Spirit that was given at Pentecost, but only to those that knew Christ is Savior. The real fulfillment, according to Joel 2, is after Rush is destroyed at the Battle of Armageddon, verse 20.
You’ll have Christ come back and ruin rain on the earth. All unbelievers are destroyed and only believers will be left on the planet and every one of them will have the Holy Spirit poured out upon. That’s still coming. That’s still what’s going to happen in the future. But Joel 2 has not yet been fulfilled. We’ve got to go to break and we’ll come back and do a second half hour Bible end. If you haven’t helped us for this month of June, we only have a few days left.
It would really be appreciated. Pray for us and if you can help Bible and call our operators, they’ll tell you how to do that. You’re going to go to break, we’ll come right back, we’ll do a second half hour so don’t go away and I’ll be right back. Don’t go away Bibleline, we’ll be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alright I’m Dr. Englund, this is Bible and it’s Thursday and it’s exciting to be with you as we come to you live from our studios here in Tampa, Florida at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor.
Tonight we’re on DirectTV nationwide at 630. Would you tune us in? That’s tonight at 630. Nationwide on channel 321. And if you have DirectTV, you’ll be able to get that anywhere in the Caribbean and also all of North American food in Canada. You can get the Bibleline program. Also, in the West Coast of Florida, if you live in the West Coast of Florida, you can and catches at seven from Fort Myers to Crystal River all over to Orlando on cable just about everywhere is channel 22 broadcast and rapid here, rapid years.

We’re excited about all of this and we look forward to being with you every day here on the Bibleline Monday through Friday but on the internet we’re on every day, seven days a week, twenty hours a day.
It’s exciting. We also want you to know that Bibleline is listed as a portal that we couldn’t survive without our listeners. And summer is a lean time. Would you help us this month of June and this summer pre-force? And if you could give a gift, it would really help because this is a time when people go on vacations and get busy doing other things and kind of were forgotten. So if you could help, give us call our 800 number.
You can have us send you an envelope with our address on it. You could also give a gift by credit card over the phone. Also on our website, there’s a place on our online bookstore to be able to give a gift and we hope that you’ll take advantage of that as well. So in any case, I hope that you’re telling your friends about Bible End, helping us grow our audience. I hope you’re telling your friends in other countries, we know that you might have missionaries that you support or are in contact with in other parts of the world, give them the website.
We have many missionaries in many countries that are listening to and watching Bible and on the internet and it’s because of our listeners passing that word. Also family members and friends around the world that by the internet are able to be connected up and listen to the Bibleline programs. That’s exciting, isn’t it? I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and this is Bibleline and we’re going to do the second half hour now. So if your station doesn’t carry it, go to the internet, but otherwise stay tuned.
Right now we’ll do it. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back from now breaking. This is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. It’s Thursday. We’re glad to be able to be with you. And if you’re in the Tampa Bay area, you can hear us seven days a week. People say, what time on the weekend? 10 o’clock?
It’s straight across the board, seven days a week. So if you are in the Tampa Bay area, you can be listening every day, Monday through Monday or Tuesday through Tuesday or Wednesday through Wednesday or however you want to say it. We’re on seven days a week here in the Tampa Bay area and we want to welcome our new audience up in the northeast corner of the state of Florida, listening on to be a YMM, a Jacksonville, a 50,000 watt station, very powerful.
We are on too many of those, but we are on a 50,000-watt one in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We’re on a 50,000-watt station in Nashville, Tennessee, and the 50,000 ones are rare. But we are excited because we’re reaching all the way over to the I-75 corridor, reaching Gainesville, Lake City, and all those places and everything in between. And if you’re listening up there in the Jacksonville area on WYMM, give us a call. Just tell us about the signal quality and if you’re enjoying the program or if you’re not enjoying the program.
Just tell us we would like to hear that somebody’s listening up there and that would give us a buzz. In any case, we are looking forward to this weekend. If you’re in the area this weekend, if you’re in driving distance, we’re having a July 4th celebration this Sunday, July 1st. That’s right. We’re going to celebrate on July 1st, July 4th. Isn’t that interesting July 1st on July 4th? Sunday is July 1st and we are going to have our worship service at 1030 and then we’re going to have a wonderful picnic cookout out in the back of the church behind our buildings.
We have an area way in the back with beautiful old trees and shaded with picnic tables and our men will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers and we’ll have all the trimmings and we’ll have hot dogs and apple pie and a lot more. I guarantee you, we’ll have a great time. Would you come? We’d love to have you. If you live in any place in the world, you can join our morning worship service last Sunday we had a family, a new one from Germany watching our worship service live.
But if you can’t do it live, we understand that too. You can get our worship services and join them anytime you want because they’re in our tribe. We have months and months of Sunday sermons sitting there for you. You’d like to get the CDs of those Sunday sermons. You call our operators. They’ll be glad to tell you how you can subscribe for $30 a month. You can get the worship services sent to your home. All you have to do is call the 800 number and talk to our operators about doing that.
In any case, we are excited about being with you today and we’re going to try to take our calls. We’ve got only one line I think working now. We’re hoping to get all that repaired and I think it was a lightning problem that we had. But we have Adam in Tampa, Florida and Adam, welcome to Bibleline. You are on the line. Are you there? I… Yes, you have it. Yeah, I do now, huh? Okay, I understand that you believe that there’s your salvation, and I believe the same eternal life in verse 21 of Jude.
Alright, I’m turning over to the little book of Jude right now, only one chapter, and it says in verse 21, Keep yourselves in the love of God looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Okay, what is the question? Un-to-eternal life, that leads unto eternal life. Right, well, it’s this mercy that obviously saves us at the point we trust Christ as Savior and continues to keep us saved forever and ever and ever. And obviously we need to keep our eyes focused as a Christian.
This is not a verse that tells us to do something to be saved, is telling us the keys to the Christian life that we’re to build ourselves up verse 20 on our Most Holy Faith. That’s the Word of God. That we’re to pray in accordance with the directions we get from the Holy Spirit. verse 20, we’re to keep ourselves in His fellowship being around the people of God and studying his Word with our focus looking forward to one day fully realizing the results of the mercy that he had upon us through his death at Calvary that actually brings us safely to heaven’s shore where our feet are placed firmly on that shore.
No question that’s talking about that we need to well I trusted Christ as my Savior I haven’t lost the focus of how important that decision was and how valuable that gift of eternal life is and how important it is for me to share that message with other people and I think that’s all it’s talking about there is to keep our focus on that mercy by which he saved us because when we lose sight of of the value of what Christ did for us.
We become, in a sense, dead Christians or ineffective Christians or non-fruit-bearing Christians, and we need to keep our focus on that. I’m studying fruit too, and I realize that in Israel and how God led them out, and they were unbelievers, so they ended up dying. And at the end of the verse, he’s talking about how we should stay with God there, so we don’t be destroyed like them. Right, and you’re talking about physical death. Absolutely, thousands were killed in the wilderness because of their unbelief as a believer.
They never entered in the Promised Land because Hebrews 4 tells us because they were in unbelief. They didn’t believe God could conquer the enemies. It’s amazing the experience God defeating the whole Egyptian army, but they couldn’t believe that God could handle those rascals that lived in the Promised Land. And so God says, okay, you don’t believe I can conquer them for you? I’ll let you wander around this one and tell you all drop dead. And then he led those that were twenty and under by Joshua into the Promised Land and the first city they conquered was Jericho.
Look at the mighty power of God. All they had to do was walk around seven days and on the seven day walk around seven times the Boater trumpets and chomp and the walls of Jericho. I’ve been to Jericho. I don’t know how many times. And the walls fell outward. You know in a military confrontation, notice they would usually punch the walls in. But these walls fell outward. How did that happen? God did it. And that’s what we’re talking about there.
So he’s not talking about eternal death. He’s talking about physical death for the believer who doesn’t keep his perspective and lives forward going forward for the Lord. Jude is saying you need to contend for the faith to be a contender. You need to still keep your focus and keep yourself built up on the Word of God. You need to be praying, you need to be witnessing and fellowshipping with other believers. And if you don’t, the Lord could take you home.
That’s absolutely right. Thank you, Adam, and we’re just having phone problems here today. Give us a call, and we’ll try to get you up on the air. And we have Dale in Winterhaven, Florida. We’re getting calls today from Winterhaven. Winterhaven is over there in the middle of the state of Florida. about the limit of the Tampa stations. I think the one nine ten out of plant city gets over to there but then doesn’t get much further than that. Well good question he asks we are healed by his stripes.
Please explain. Well you have your Bible open there Dale we’re going to turn to Matthew chapter eight and we’re going to find out the answer. Did you We know that Peter was married. Oops, I think the Catholic Church doesn’t know that. Oh my goodness, all the priests, they say, are celibate and they don’t get married. But let’s read what we find here in Matthew. I think the Catholic Church will be embarrassed if they read it. And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid sick of a fever.
Now how can you have a mother-in-law if you don’t have a wife? interesting is that he saw his wife’s he was married peters wife and he saw his wife’s mother laid and sick of a fever birth fifteen of matthew eight says he touched her hand and the fever left her and she arose administered under them and when evening was come they were brought into him many that were possessed with demons and he cast out the spirits with his word and healed all that were sick and Look if you will at verse 17 where it says that it might be fulfilled that it might be fulfilled That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by is Isaiah the prophet saying Himself took our infirmities and bear our sicknesses When did Christ bear them in his earthly ministry when he healed the sick?
That is the fulfillment of that. He is not talking about divine healing today. He is talking about, here, prior to going to the cross, he heals Peter’s wife’s mother and also heals many others that were brought to him and he says that was the full fulfillment of the passage in Isaiah that said by his stripes where you’re healed. So if you’re looking for some current fulfillment of that, I think you’re looking in a wrong way because Christ tells us that was already fulfilled.
He fulfilled it in his earthly ministry. His healing ministry was the fulfillment of when his stripes were healed. They’ll thank you for that call and read Matthew 8 and you’re going to find out that Peter was married. a mother-in-law and Jesus healed his mother-in-law and healed others and he said that was the fulfillment of with his stripes where he healed from Isaiah 53. Okay, off here we have another one, George and Paul Marber. He says, please explain the transfiguration.
Well, it’s interesting, in Matthew 16, and here’s a verse where all the prenorists and the replacement theology people go. I was in a debate with these kind of rest a few years ago. Thomas Ice and myself, Thomas Ice has got a great book we have at our Resource Center called The End Time Controversy. It is super. It lays to rest forever this false position of the fact that Christ already came in 80s, 70. In any case, I found that all these high-powered speakers they had for the position of replacement theology and preneurism didn’t really open their Bible at all.
It was unbelievable. I was the only guy outside of Thomas Iced that opened my Bible and when I got done as I carried my Bible, it seemed like I was parting the Red Sea. It seemed like people fled, you know, like bugs do and you turn the light on at night, they all run. Well, that’s, it seemed like, and I went to the break time to the refreshment area and everybody just avoided me like I was the plague. I carried my Bible with me and nobody wanted to get near me.
Well, that was interesting. Just an observation on my part. I don’t know. Maybe that was my imagination. I don’t think so, but it seemed to be that way. But in Matthew 1628, it says, barely I say unto you, there shall be some standing here which shall not taste of death till they shall see the Son of man coming in this kingdom. What’s their big verse? They say that Christ came in their lifetime and they say that Christ came in 8070.
That the tribulation period was 8064 through 8070. By the way, that’s what Hank Hennigraff promotes in his book Apocalypse Code. It’s also what is taught by R.C. Sproul and basically so many of the Reformation churches teach that Christ has already returned. Well guess what? It says there shall be some standing here which will not taste of death. where they really lock their hooks in and they say, see, these people are going to be living according to Christ and not die until they see Christ’s Second Coming.
Well they don’t read very far, they just quit right there and build their argument on that one verse in Matthew 16, 28, and then in verse 17, chapter 17 verse 1 it says, and after After six days, Jesus took James and John and his brother and bring him up into a high mountain apart and was transfigured before them and his face did China’s son, his raiment was as white as the light. And guess what? Those three guys that didn’t die yet, just six days later, six days later, six days later, saw the second coming of Christ.
They didn’t die until they saw it. You see, Christ gave them the opportunity to see himself transformed as he will be in his second coming. You see, Moses and Elijah standing there with Christ. And this is the second coming of Christ seen by them in advance on the mountain transfiguration. Amazing. Peter, James and John lived to see the second coming. That’s right. And they saw it just six days later. I think also the six days is significant, not there by accident.
I think it’s a throwback to the six days of the recreated week that each of those days represents a thousand years. And that the seventh day represents a thousand years of peace or rest, or the whole earth will be rest for a thousand years. And so it’s really saying from Adam… The second coming would be six days or 6,000 years. We’re about there. I think we’re almost there. There have been 4,000 years from Adam to Christ. And now 2,000 years from Christ till now.
And so the 6,000 years or six days represented here are almost up. And then Christ is transfigured. He’ll be seen as he will be in his second coming. And this verse doesn’t prove that Christ came back 2,000 years ago. ago, it’s simply saying that Peter, James, and John got to see it six days after Christ said that, so they did live to see the Second Coming. I’m just amazed at the weak arguments of those who try to make the Bible say something that it doesn’t say.
I learned as a young believer by a wonderful Bible teacher, he said, if you read the Bible and it makes plain sense, then don’t seek any other sense in that great wisdom. And I believe that’s really true. We have Jeff and Palm Harbor and Jeff welcome to Bibleline it Good morning. I have a question for you about what you said before about biostructures healed and at the healing is not for today Now let me just say a word here.
I believe in divine healing, but I don’t believe in divine healers. I believe the gift of healing as well as the gift of tongues has ceased that it was a temporary gift and it was used as a confirmation right up until the completion of the New Testament. But after that it is seized. But I pray in my prayer meeting for people who are sick and I believe that God can when it’s within his will to do so heal people.
But I don’t believe anybody today has the power to run around and lay their hands on you and raise the dead and restore people to a healthy fleshly body that have leprosy and give sight to the blind and so on and so on. I wish that they could. I really do. I have several blind members of my church and I would personally fly them and take them to a meeting if they could get that kind of healing. They’ve already been to those meetings long before they ever met me and they are resolved that they’re going to get complete healing when they get to heaven.
They’re going to have a new body with a perfect 2020 eyesight. But they are not expecting they’re going to get it here. There is no healer that I know of. They can take a person blind from birth and give them sight today. The biblical gift of healing is dead. Unfortunately, I have a bad connection on myself when I turn my radio down to hear all of that, so I’m going to have to listen to it on the internet again.
And I’m sorry I have a bad connection, but… Well, there might be a bad connection too, Jeff. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. We’re having a little bit of fun problems here. And only apparently one of our lines is working. and i i would like to have for the dollar listened to that on the internet and will get to be able to get these phones fixed by tomorrow okay thank you really thank you jeff and paul marver but i really believe the uh…
gift is gone i i might not go without the people have real serious illnesses and diseases and they can go to these meetings every week of their life and and not be healed in that is uh… very sad We have Michael in Eustis Florida, that’s up near O’Calla, I believe I’ve been to Eustis before, and he is saying here, explain John 4-5, alright, we’re going to go to John’s Gospel and we’re going to turn to chapter 4 and we’re going to look at verse 5.
John 4 verse 5 says, then Kabbathy into a city of Samaria, which is called Saikar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. And I don’t know what I need to explain there, but basically Jesus goes to the place where Jacobs Well was. And by the way, Joseph’s bones were carried up out of Egypt and are buried very close there. I have been to Jacobs Well many times. And one of the things we know about the Well is that it’s very deep.
And the woman pointed that out to Jesus and said, how are you going to draw water? You don’t have a bucket and rope and beside that the well is very deep. It’s about 125 feet deep and we let the bucket down with a rope and we drew it up. It seemed to take forever to crank that rope handle and get that bucket to come up. But we drank some very delicious water from Jacob’s well. I was so glad I had that experience and to say I could drink out of the same well that Jacob drank out of.
Thousands of years ago. And then amazing. You know, Jacob. His name was changed to Israel. And he became obviously the father of twelve sons that became the nation of Israel. The twelve tribes of Israel, Spring Force from Jacob. Very special man. And this is a very special place. And Jesus there of course needs to be. meets a woman and there he leads her to Christ, a Samaritan woman. And no one of the Jews had no dealing with the Samaritans, but Jesus engaged her in conversation and let her do himself as Savior and she trusted Christ.
And she went witnessing right away and many people in that city got saved as a result of her witness. I may have gotten the wrong verse, but that’s the answer. Jesus went and went right through Samaria on his way north and he met the woman at the well, the letter to Christ. Okay, we’re going to go to another offer question. Glenn in Largo, Florida, he says he was an alcoholic 25 years ago, now saved, says he has demons trying to draw him back.
Have you ever heard of such a thing? Well, I don’t doubt that at all. Demons are always out there. And the Bible talks about Satan is out there as well to cause you to fall and to obviously get you away from the things of God. What you need to do is be faithful to the Lord and God will take care of the demons that are one to seduce all of us, I believe. If you look over in Peter, in 1 Peter chapter 5, here are some good words of advice to you Glenn in Largo.
It says in 1 Peter 5 and verse 7, “…casting all your care upon him Christ, for he cared for you. Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he made devour.” So you’re absolutely right. The demons and they’re working at Satan’s command and the devil himself is out there trying to seek people that he can just gobble up. Verse 9, whom it says resist, whom it says resist steadfast in the faith.
Now the phrase D-faith, it goes forty three times in the New Testament, you hear me say that often, but that phrase is important. It means the body of truth is containing God’s how do you resist the devil? Steadfast in the Bible. Read the Bible regularly and just believe the Bible and be steadfast in what the Bible teaches. And you’re going to find that Satan will back off. That’s right. So the demons and Satan will back off as you live for Christ and you’re steadfast in the faith resisting Satan and his angels’ temptations.
you’ll be just fine. Glenn, get into the Word of God on a regular basis. Not just once a week at a church, but I’m talking about every day, read the Bible for yourself. Thank you, Glenn. I hope that helps. We now have Mike and Fredericksburg, Virginia, and he says in Matthew 24, 29-31, Tribulation Rapture, Second Coming, please expound what it is. This is the Tribulation Period. Seven hairs will follow the Rapture. He is not talking about the rapture, he is talking about the second coming, and there you see Christ coming back visibly seen by people all over the earth.
That is not true of the rapture. The rapture is not even in the passage. But it’s talking about what will happen in verse 29 says immediately after the tribulation of those days. So immediately after the tribulation of those days where the sun is dark and then so on, the moon won’t give us light. It says in verse 30 that Christ will be visibly seen and he’ll come back with his angels and they’ll round up all of the believers from all over the earth as Christ begins his kingdom, his thousand year reign.
You’ll notice a little further down, it talks about two in the field, the one will be taken the other left. If you read the context, it says it will be the same as it was in the days of Noah. What do we know about the days of Noah? Well, the flood came and caught everybody off guard. And the ones that were taken, were taken by the flood and killed and destroyed, and the ones that were left that were in the ark repopulated the earth.
Guess why? That’s gonna be the same way. Two will be in the field. The ones that are taken are killed by Christ. The ones that are left are left to live into the thousand year reign of Christ, and they will repopulate the earth. I’ve taken the word took in verse 39, And the word taken in verse 40 and 41 circled them, drawn a line between them all. And the way that they’re taken is the same way as the flood took the last once before.
So not the rapture. But the opposite of the rapture, the lost are taken in judgment and killed and they saved are left behind to populate the new earth. Not the new earth, but the millennial kingdom. Anyway, I hope that helps Mike and call me again if we didn’t get it all straightened out for you. We’re at the end of the hour. I have lots of offer questions still to go. We’re having phone line problems, pray for us. This is part of what happens in the way of keeping this ministry going.
When equipment breaks down, then we have those expenses. To get these things repaired and they’re extensive and so on, you could help us. You really could. We need your help because we’re totally dependent upon you guys, our listeners. That’s right. We don’t have any other means of support, would you call? Maybe give a gift by phone. I hope you’ve trusted Christ and I certainly hope you’ll watch our television programs tonight at 6.30 and 7. And keep looking up, Jesus is coming and Lord willing we’ll be back tomorrow.
Join me then. You’ve been listening to Bibleline, a presentation of Bibleline Ministries of Tampa, Florida. Your donation to Bibleline makes it possible for this ministry to continue in your area. My Beligns Address is 4811 George Road, Tampa, Florida, 33634. Or visit My Belign online at BibleLineMinistries.com. Be sure to tune in for another edition of My Belign from Calvary Community Church of Tampa, Florida. Well, I’m Dr. Anglin Striman. It’s been fun being with you again today on this Thursday. And we’re winding up the month of June.
Would you be willing to pray for Bibleline and also maybe give the Bible? We’ve got phone problems and we know that’s probably going to be a pretty good expense to get all this all resolved. Maybe you could help us. We not only have our normal cost but when things break or things go wrong then it costs extra for that. And I hate to put any pressure on you really, you know, in giving you’re the winner because you’re investing in eternity and especially I believe when you invest in a ministry that’s doctrinally sound, and God is using it.
You’re really going to be blessed in heaven. The rewards will be great. I also believe if you give to an organization where the message is wrong, then it will be a negative thing for you. It says in 2 John, look to yourselves that you lose not those things which you are working for in the way of reward, but you might receive a full reward. It talks about giving God’s blessing to ministries that are not Dr. Lee Sound. It says in verse 11, did you become a partaker of their evil deeds?
Wow! You’ll suffer loss of reward according to verse 8 through 11 of 2 John. That’s scary, isn’t it? I tell you, I decided I’d be smart about my giving so that I was going to be investing where God was going to bless my gift. So just giving isn’t a means to an end in itself because if you’re giving wrongly, if you’re giving the ministries that God can’t bless, then he can’t bless you and your reward will be lost. That’s what it’s saying in 2nd John.
Wow. So I really did a reversal on how I gave my money after I read those passages. I said I don’t want my giving to be negative. I want it to bring the greatest return that I possibly can. How are you investing your gifts? Well, Bible Anne could use your help and I believe we are doctrinally sound and you can call in and get an envelope sent or send a gift by credit card. Gotta run, but we’ll be back tomorrow and I hope you’ll join me then.
Tell your friends about Bible Anne and God bless you. Have a great day. Watch us on TV tonight at 637. Thanks, bye.
