Welcome to Bibleline with Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Coming to you from Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida declaring God’s love through radio and television, providing real answers to an ever-searching world. Got a question? Dial toll free at 1-800-576-3771. Now here’s the host of Bibleline, Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Well, good morning and welcome to Bibleline. Great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning in to the broadcast. We look forward to being with you each and every day as we come to you live from our studios here in Tampa, Florida at the Commer Community Church.

We’re out in the pastor. Thanks for tuning in today to the Bibleline program. We are here on Tuesday of this week and we still have most of the week to go. I hope you’ll tune us in every day. Tell your friends about the program and help us grow our audience. You can tell your friends that live in other parts of the states and also overseas. With the internet we are seeing all over the world. 150 countries have logged in all over Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the Pacific Islands, Australia, South America, Central America and so on.

Anywhere in the world you can watch and listen to. I was in Israel in March of this year and there I was able to go on the internet and catch Bibleline. Isn’t that interesting? And we were also able to do our radio shows from the hotel there that we stayed at in Galilee and also in Jerusalem. By the way, we’re planning to go to Israel again. In this coming year, we’ll probably leave the last week of February, return the end of the first week in March.

March and we should have final plans that resolve this weekend. We’ll be able to give you a brochure. If you want to be on that prospect list, it’ll be trip number 15 for me and we’ll have a great time studying the Bible. Every place we stop will open the Bible and talk about what the Bible says about the events that took place at that place. So be a part of that. By the way, this Sunday, we’re having our third Sunday dinner that we always have.

You’re welcome to come to our worship service at 1030. Stay for dinner. Be my guest. Bring your Bible, your appetite, your family and join us. And also this Sunday, we’re going to have a baptism. We have quite a few people that need to be baptized, that are saved and want to give testimony to their salvation, that their sins have been washed away by the butt of Christ. They realize fully that water baptism does not save them, but yet Christ has asked us to be obedient as a believer to give testimony in this way.

And so we invite you, if you’ve not been baptized, if you live close enough to participate. In other words, I’d be honored to baptize you if you’d like to join this baptism. A lot of people don’t have a church where they baptize by immersion. And a lot of churches are still counting on that infant baptism, which has less support in Scripture. It’s just not scriptural. There is no such thing in anybody’s Bible as infant baptism. And obviously this is something that came out of the dark ages.

This is not scriptural. If you were baptized even before you were saved, it doesn’t count as believers baptism. You have to have come to know Christ as your Savior and to give testimony looking back to the event when you trusted Christ of how you were cleansed of your sin by Christ’s blood. but the blood could wash away your sin. The hymn writer got it right when he said, what can wash away my sin answer nothing but the blood, nothing but the blood.

We’re excited about being with you today. By the way, our Resource Center is available every day till about 4.30 in the afternoon if you’re in driving distance. But if not, on the internet, you can look at our Resource Center from anywhere on the planet, isn’t that great? So if you’re in another city and you don’t expect to get the Tampa in this lifetime, you could still visit our Resource Center. Also, you can visit our worship services. That’s right. We webcast them every Sunday morning live between 11 and 12.

You can go there and click on the camera on the home page and be connected to that morning worship service. But guess what? Throughout the week, any time of day or night, you can still watch that worship service. And we We have 49 right now. Almost a year’s worth of worship services are sitting. On the Internet, waiting for you. I sure hope you’ll take advantage of our website. We have the Bible with the strongest recordings. You can look up words and search for passages and do the homework and see what the original Hebrew Greek word meant.

That’s all available to you and you don’t have to be a scholar to figure it out. We have articles I’ve written, questions I’ve answered, radio, television and worship services. All there are online bookstore. much more. We’re going to get into the Bible and we hope you’ll join us for this study and then get ready to call if you’d like to get on the air. Dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. The Bible is very clear about salvation being a gift and not of works.

And yet, 90% of Christianity is presenting salvation by works. It’s so amazing. How could this happen? But it’s the norm rather than the exception. To find a good, solid Bible teaching Church that teaches that we’re saved by grace and not by works is getting more difficult to find every day. Once you trust Christ as Savior, the Bible says that four things happen to you that are all operations of the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us the first one is the new birth.

It’s called regeneration. And in the Bible it tells us it happens at the moment or the instant that you believe. I’m surprised at how many people make salvation out to be a process that you have to continue in order to be saved. You can throw that word out. Salvation is received by an active faith at the moment you trust Christ as your Savior. Notice if you will, 1 John, chapter 5, verse 1. It says, whosoever believe it that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.

So regeneration, which is an operation of the Holy Spirit, where you are born again into the family of God, occurs at the moment of belief. In John chapter 3, when Jesus talked to Nicodemus, he told him marvel not that I said into the you must be born again. A new birth occurs when you trust Christ as Savior, and John 3 16 is Jesus telling Nicodemus how he can be born again. For God so loved the world, Nicodemus, that he gave his only begotten son, as Jesus Christ, that whosoever, that’s anyone in the human race, that includes you, it includes me, it includes your family.

Everyone can come to Christ, and whosoever believed within him or would trust in Christ should not perish, because Christ perished in our place, but we would have. That’s a present tense verb that means you possess at the moment of belief, everlasting Isn’t that great news? The Bible talks about this salvation not being of works but by God’s wonderful mercy. Titus has a great verse about the new birth. It’s Titus chapter 3 verse 5. It says, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy, He saved us by the washing of regeneration.

That is the new birth. When you become born again, you are washed or cleansed of your sin, and God no longer sees you as a sinner as far as your salvation is concerned. Yes, we are still in this flesh body. Yes, we still have a sinful nature inherited from Adam, but God sees us righteous because of the new birth that is absolutely righteous and not occurs at the moment you believe. The one who believes on Christ is born again.

At the instant you trust Christ has nothing to do with works, has nothing to do with behavior, it is a birth and it occurs at the moment of belief. So when you trust Christ you’re born again, you’re a child of God. Number 2 is that the Holy Spirit seals you at the moment of belief. The Holy Spirit according to Ephesians chapter 1 seals every believer as you trust Christ and Savior. Look at verse 13 of chapter 1 of Ephesians where it says in whom speaking of Christ, you also trusted after that you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.

Notice it tells us that you hear the gospel, the word of truth, and it says you are the gospel of your salvation, in whom also, and by the way it should read, here, having believed you were sealed. The King James kind of obscures the tense here, but it should read, and if you have a school field Bible, which is what I use and I recommend, and here’s why I recommend it. In the margin, it gets it right forth. It should read as it says in the school field center column margin.

It says, having believed you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise. So what does that mean? The moment you trust Christ, the Holy Spirit seals you and a seal is used in Scripture of three things. Number one, it is a symbol of a finished transaction. In other words, salvation is finished. It’s completed when you trust Christ the Savior. Again, for those who say it’s a process or they have to continue, they have not read the Scripture very carefully.

Salvation was finished at the cross and when you enter into salvation by trusting Christ as your Savior It’s a finished deal for you as well in other words. It’s completed It’s finished and the seal of the Holy Spirit marks it as a completed deal You know, it’s not until after you purchase something that they put seals on the document sometimes like when you buy property It becomes yours and it is sealed and recorded in the courthouse. Will God seals you with the Holy Spirit himself?

Secondly, a seal in the Bible is a symbol of ownership. It says, God now has bought you and paid for you. You are now his and you are his forever. And that occurs at the moment of belief. Notice it says here, having believed you were sealed with the Holy Spirit. Thirdly, the Holy Spirit assures that you’ll never be lost. He lost because the Holy Spirit Himself is the seal. To be lost, the seal would have to be broken. That would mean someone more powerful than God the Holy Spirit would have to break that seal.

Not going to happen. Not going to happen. You are obviously saved and saved forever and eternally secure as it says here that you’re sealed and this is of course until you’re in heaven itself. It says in verse 14, the Holy Spirit who seals us is also the earnest. The word earnest is an old English word. It means down payment. In other words, God is in earnest about completing our salvation. So much so that at the moment you believe, He gives you the Holy Spirit as a down payment assuring you that He’s going to complete your salvation and you’re going to wind up in heaven with the Lord forever and ever and ever.

Isn’t that great? If a person puts a down payment down on something that they intend to buy, it tells us they’re an earnest. It’s called earnest money. And should they decide to change their mind, they forfeit the down payment, don’t they? Well guess what? God gives us the Holy Spirit at the moment of belief as the down payment, the earnest payment on our salvation to guarantee that we’ll never be lost. And so if you could ever be lost, my friend, God would have to forfeit the Holy Spirit to you and the Holy Spirit would have to go to hell with you.

It is never going to happen. It will never happen. You are sealed with the Holy Spirit, the Bible says of promise, which is the down payment, the earnest of the inheritance until the redemption of the purchase possession. That means until you are actually in heaven with the Lord, it says here to the praise of his glory. God is going to complete what he has finished. It says in Philippians chapter 1, it says, the work that God has begun and salvation is the work that he has begun, he will complete it.

It will not be left undone. He will complete it. It is already finished according to Ephesians 1.13. Also, we know the Holy Spirit comes to indwell the believer at the moment of belief. This is the third operation of the Holyviron that every believer has and a lot of the Corinthian believers didn’t even realize that the Holy Spirit was indwelling them. You can be saved and not even know it, but the scripture tells us that we are and so we have to believe the word of God and it says in 1 Corinthians 6, 19 it says what?

What? Question mark? No, ye not, that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God and you are not your own. It says, don’t you know this? It’s interesting here. The Corinthian believers, apparently many of them did not know it, but it says, what? What? Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you and what you have of God and you are not your own?

So the Bible tells us here that you’re bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and your spirit with your gods. God has bought you and paid for you and your body becomes his temple and he indwells you. So we have the regeneration of the Holy Spirit, the new birth that occurs at the moment you believe. We have the sealing, S-E-A-L-I-N-G of the Holy Spirit at the moment you believe you’re sealed with the Holy Spirit until you’re actually in heaven, the down payment.

Guaranteeing our salvation will never be. lost, and then thirdly you’ll be in dwelt with Holy Spirit as He comes to dwelt the believer forever. Then we have the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and guess what? Every believer has the baptism, has nothing to do with speaking in tongues. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the placing of you and me the believer at the moment of belief into the body of Christ. So not only does the Holy Spirit dwell in our body, but we also are placed into Christ’s body.

So we are really one, the Bible says. It says in 1 Corinthians 12, 13, by one Spirit are we all. Touch that. By one Spirit are we all, not part, but all, every believer. By one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, the body of Christ. Although we be Jews or Gentiles, whether be slaves or free men, we have all been made to drink into one Spirit. This is the Holy Spirit taking you and placing you into Christ’s body, and by the way therefore you can never be lost again.

Verse 27 gives a result as is now, not later, but right now you are the body of Christ and members in particular. You have been placed into the body of Christ by the devantism of the Holy Spirit if you are a believer. Guess what? To be lost, somebody would have to take an axe or a saw or knife and cut off a part of Jesus’ body. That’s right, because right now you are a part of his body. You are in his body.

Ephesians 5 tells us we are members of his body and of his bones and of his flesh. We actually become a part of his very own body. And so if you were to be lost, a part of Christ’s body would have to be severed. Never going to happen, never going to happen, never going to happen. My friend, this is some great salvation that God has provided. And the four operations of the Holy Spirit are enjoyed by every believer at the moment of belief.

You’re regenerated by the Holy Spirit born again. You’re in dwelt with the Holy Spirit, you’re sealed, E-A-L-I-S-E- Synd with the Holy Spirit and your baptized with the Holy Spirit at the moment you believe. Well, I hope that helps clarify a little bit about how the salvation we have is an act of faith, received at the moment of belief, and can never be lost and that you’re saved forever because God the Holy Spirit guarantees that. Well, I’m not going to be against the instrument, this is by blend and we’re going to go to the phone lines, you’re welcome to call 1-800-576-3771.

1-800-576-3771, give us a call. We have Dr. Anonymous in Dade City, Florida, and Dr. Anonymous, welcome to Bibleline Your On The Earth. How you doing, Dr. Hank? Good, good. Hey, man, I got a question, please. On John the Baptist. he went to jail i want to know i think king here i put him in jail correct right as crazy with a eventually killed and could have set off all right okay that’s a question uh… yeah issue the king here at about is why something like that what what what was it he should have been down on that yeah he was uh…

living in a doctor’s life and uh… John brought it out to do everybody’s attention and he became very very upset about that. Okay and he got locked up. But for that right? Yep, he got locked up and thrown jail for that. Okay now this is my question. Wouldn’t you think that John the Baptist’s job was to roll out just a red carpet for Jesus and then kind of lay back a little bit? well we did it was he had a land when he had issue with her at about that no not at all thank you uh…

john uh… He was martyred as all the Old Testament prophets were for speaking out and speaking the truth. Jesus later in Matthew 23 says that he would have been all of the prophets that were slain from righteous Abel. There you have all the way back to Adam’s first two sons, Cain and Abel. Abel was one who gave testimony to the blood of Christ by offering up a lamb and how salvation was by Christ by the shedding of the blood of an innocent lamb.

And Cain killed him. Cain was an unbeliever under the influence of Satan. And all the way down to the last prophet who was killed in Old Testament, God said he would have avenged him and he did. And we know that shortly after Christ was crucified, the Romans came against Israel and the greatest slaughter of Jewish people outside of what Hitler did happened then. About 5 million Jews were killed by the Romans and the ones that survived were put on the slave mark and sold out to the world.

And for the past 2000 years they have been dispersed. they’re now back because God is going to now obviously offer them the Messiah again and this time many millions of Jews will accept Jesus as a Savior. Christ will come back as their King and rule over Jerusalem. Now this is the sense of a his disciple. He’s not used to his disciple. He was drawn about to his disciple and he sent them and told them to go get Jesus and telling them coming to you like you’ll help him for money to come and get me out of something like that from pal reason i need help for a few out for another now let me talk about that well first of all is not true he didn’t ask for any help but he had his doubts as to whether christ was the Messiah or not and he went

he sent his disciples to ask christ if he was in the sign and jesus pointed out the works that he did which Isaiah the Prophet very clearly said that the Messiah would be able to make the lame to walk, the blind to see, the deaf to hear, the dumb to speak and so on. And he says as he sends his men back to John, tell him about the works that I do. It might not the Messiah. So he was in need of the Messiah, but he wasn’t asking to get out of jail.

Nor was he asking for any help in jail of Christ. That is certainly not the ERROR. Well, thank you, Mr. Anonymous, and we now have Carol in Punta, Florida, Florida, and Carol, thank you so much for tuning in today, and Carol, you’re up on the air. Hi. Good morning. How are you today? Good. I’m from the Baptist background years ago, and recently, I started going to an assembly of God Church. And of course they believe in being baptized with the evidence of speaking and tongue.

Now I have always believed once saved, always saved. I go back to the thief on the cross and Jesus said surely to see it, you know, you will be with me in paradise. I believe that Jesus looked into this man’s heart. But there are religions out there who are teaching that you are not eternally saved and you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Can you tell me if somebody from the Baptist and I have lots of friends who are in the same position that I am, were a little bit concerned about salvation now.

It’s like, okay, if we had this evidence of speaking in this tongue, are we eternally damned? Well, once you’re stated, we just covered with the four operations of the Holy Spirit. It’s pretty conclusive at the moment of belief you’re never going to go to hell. You’re born again, you’re sealed with always-spirited, God with always-spirited, baptized with always-spirited. But speaking tongues, that is a gift that was given that was temporary, but what they have today is gibberish, not tongues. The biblical gift was temporary as there were several spectacular gifts that were temporary in nature.

They ceased when the New Testament record was completed, but nobody today has the gift of tongues. What’s being done in these churches is a gibberish. It’s not an own four language It says in 1 Corinthians 14 the chapter that talks a lot about tongues It says except you speak by the tongue words easy to be understood. How shall it be known what is spoken? You just speak into the air Paul to say you waste your time Unless you’re able to communicate words easily understood by the hearer also verse 22 a first of 1 Corinthians 14 says tongues were for a sign not to believers but to unbelievers It was to be used for evangelism and people would hear the gospel in their foreign language and get saved.

I don’t see anybody today leading anyone to Christ in their gibberish. In fact, they don’t like to use it around lost people. I’ve challenged people now for years. I say, look, if you’ve got the gift, let’s go experiment. Get in my car. Let’s go to the mall. I’ll get a crowd together. I might have to freak out But I’ll get a crowd in the mall and then I’ll introduce you and you speak in your gibberish And if we if you have the real gift we’re gonna have revival I’ll even buy you a steak dinner when we get done.

I have had no one yet get in my car and I’ve offered this Hundreds of people nobody wants to try that because they know what will happen when they get in the mall They do that gibberish everybody’s gonna think they’re crazy Because it’s not the real gift the real gift would be assigned to unbelievers and nobody wants to try it that way So the real gift, we have a great book here by Merle Unger called the New Testament teaching on tongues where he slammed on it from the scripture shows that it’s absolutely gone.

There is no tongues today. And he’s the one who wrote the Unger’s Bible Dictionary and numerous other great books. I recommend that highly. If you want to stay on the line, you can. I have to go to break now and we’ll come back here and continue this conversation. Bibleline has already come to the end of the first half hour. We’re going to come back into a second half hour. I hope you’ll join me. And of course we’re here all week long every day at this time.

And we hope that you’ll go to the internet as well and maybe listen to this program and other programs again and again. That’s BibleLineMinistries.orgio.com. Again, pray for us here Bibleline. And if you can give a gift to help Bibleline, we’re totally listeners support them and your gift would be greatly appreciated. Call our operators will tell you how you can mail it or how you can give it by credit card on the phone. We’re going to take a short break.

We’ll be right back and we get lots of other callers waiting and we got lots of offer questions. We’ll try to see what we can get done today so don’t go away. Stay tuned right here and we’ll be right back. Go away Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-871. 800-576-3771. All right. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and it’s so great to be with you today. Thank you for tuning in and thank you for praying for us and thank you for those of you who give to my mind because you’re the ones that we want to applaud for keeping the program on the air.

Of course, God is a supplier, but he uses you, the listener. People just like you who enjoy the program and would like to see it continue on the air. Your gifts are an indispensable part of this program and you really do partner with us. We don’t have any other means of being on the air and it’s a miracle because we’d ever know from week to week how God will supply. And usually it’s different every week and every month and we just trust the Lord and somehow comes to the air today and I’ve thought many a time we wouldn’t be on the air another week.

But that’s the hand of God. If you’d like to help us, you can call the 1-800-number and just tell the operators you’d like to give a gift over the phone, my credit card or ask for an envelope to be sent with our address on it and mail your gift into Bible and also ask for a resource list of all of our resources and begin to order some of your materials and resources from Bible and that will also help. We got some great stuff.

We just finished the Gospel of John’s teaching on the Gospel of John. We broke it into two halves. The first half had a nice cassette jacket that holds ten hours of teaching for a gift of fifty dollars and then part two, another nicely put together cassette holder that holds again the second ten hours and you can buy them all together at once part one and part two for a gift of a hundred or each part one at a time as you get a chance to listen to them for a gift of fifty dollars that helps Bibleline plus we have the book of Revelation the book of Daniel the book of Jude the book of Romans the book of Hebrews and so on and so on so many about 40 different series that are available to you plus the skill field Bible which in itself is a jewel when you go out to the

Christian book They’re going to say the wrong one. They don’t even sell the old skill field anymore out of the bookstores. We have trouble getting it, but we still have a supply. And I tell you, it is incredible. If you have a skill field reference Bible, it’ll keep you into sound doctrine and answer a lot of your questions, even as we covered today, about the tents there in Ephesians 113. it should read having believed you were sealed, it’s made very clear in the margin of the Scofield Bible.

Give us a call 1-800-576-3771. We’re going to rejoin the stations that have been on break and we’ll come back into a second half hour of Bible and in just a few seconds and we certainly hope that you’ll be listening for this second half hour. So on the internet live right now if you want to try that as well, stay tuned.

Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back from that break and this is Bibleline. It’s so great to be with you today and thank you for tuning in. It’s Tuesday. and we invite you to join us every day here on Bibleline. We’re excited about new listeners that we have around the country. People are always finding Bibleline and we’re tickled to death that we’re able to be a blessing to you and bring answers to you.

I heard one lady tell me that she had asked her pastor a Bible question. He said, would you submit it in writing and it would take about eight weeks. She said, I didn’t have eight weeks. She called Bible and got an answer that very day. Well, that’s what Bible is all about. You know, I wish when I became a believer, I had something like Bible and a turn to, I had so many questions. I was so inquisitive and I just didn’t have any answers.

And it really took me a lot of time and study and I just looked everywhere. But you know, that’s one of the reasons why we do Bible and because I knew the need. I knew that there were people just like as I had been searching for answers and they couldn’t seem to find them anywhere and if you found them it was a long delay and we can give you an answer right now. And usually we always try to point out a scripture to back up the answers so you know it’s really coming from God’s Word.

And I hope that you’ll pray for Bibleline. We are, this is supported if you could give us a gift and help us this month that would be wonderful. And by the way, we have lots of things in our resource center that will help you as well. And I hope that you will participate. We were talking to Carol a minute ago. I think we have lost her. She couldn’t wait very much, but if you’re still listening Carol, the gift of tons has ceased.

And it’s not only something the Bible predicted would happen, but also something that is born out in history. The early Church Fathers in the second, third century didn’t in their writings talk about speaking in tongues. The spectacular gifts were gone. And all through the Dark Ages, nobody spoke in the tongues. The evangelists of the Reformation, Martin Luther John Calvin, John Wesley, none of these spoken tongues. the evangelist of the 18th century that went out to the world with the gospel, didn’t speak in tongues.

This movement today is a counter-hood movement and it’s a gibberish movement and it’s not that important in contrast to the salvation. But all of these people generally believe you can lose salvation, that’s major. Carol, that’s a major error because that means salvation is by works. If you have to maintain the Christian life to make sure that you stay saved, that makes you the Savior and salvation by works and that’s a major doctrinal error. We certainly don’t want to be a part of that.

So the Torah’s movement is revealing in that most of these people I believe are lost and they are obviously lost because they believe they have to work to keep their salvation and salvation is not by works. therefore they are trusting in how they lived their life to be saved and not in Christ having completed the work of salvation. We just covered about the work of the Holy Spirit in the earlier part of the program and at the moment of belief, you are passed from death of the life, you are born again, you become a child of God.

At the moment of belief you are sealed with the Holy Spirit who seals you until you are in heaven safely with Him. At the moment of belief you are in dwelt with Holy Spirit who involves your body Christ said forever. And lastly, you are placed into Christ’s body by the baptism of Holy Spirit. Every believer experiences all four of these operations of Holy Spirit, making your salvation absolutely assured forever. We’re also promised in John 637, Carol, that him that cometh to me I will know why it’s cast out.

Once you trust Christ, he promises he’d never ever cast you out. And better than that, verse 39 of John 6, he said he would not lose one person who has ever come to him. So no one has ever been lost. That was saved. If you ever come to Christ, Jesus said it’s the Father’s will that he would not lose one person. So you’re saved forever once you trust Christ. Well we have some more callers. We have in fact the lines are all lighted up here.

We have the phone number 1-800-576-3771. We’re going to Adam in Tampa, Florida. Adam, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, I have two quick questions. One comes from a verse. Well, it’s talking about how as water is a great solvent and we use it to cleanse our hands and our bodies, the word of God has the same impact upon us as we study God’s word. Back in Psalm 119, which is a wonderful883 Psalm, it says, young man cleans his way and it says by taking heed according to God’s word.

So as you’re in the word of God, it has a cleansing effect upon your life, just like water does. So it’s not talking about baptism, it’s talking about the Christian life. There’s a daily cleansing that occurs. As you read and study the Word of God, it has a powerful influence. Somebody once said, this book, the Bible, will either keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the Bible. And that’s really true. Stay in the Bible and It will keep you cleansed on a daily basis.

And that’s what I recommend for every believer. Adam, what’s your second question? It’s from 1 Peter and it’s chapter 3 and it’s talking about how Christ suffered 1% and the righteous for the unrighteous and then it goes down and in verse 19 it says, in which he went and proclaimed the spirits in prison. Now that prison, obviously it goes in and it talks about Noah and so what is the prison? What’s the people are around? The prison is Hades.

And the people in the days of Noah never responded to Noah’s preaching and went to Hades, but they were preached to while they were living while it says in verse 20 there that God waited in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. So for 120 years whilerequency he preached the gospel and these people got the gospel through the same Holy Spirit who spoke through Noah that raised up Jesus from the dead. And so basically they are now in prison and they are waiting to be released from that prison and cast into hell at the end of the millennium.

He will be the first end to hell with his co-hearts, the false prophet and the Antichrist. When those three are in Hades or in hell rather, then the angels will be cast into hell and then everybody that’s in that prison will be brought up and be cast into hell. The Hades to proclaim? Not to them. No. What it’s saying there is that they were preached to while God was waiting. In other words, while they were alive. now in prison but the ones who are in prison were preached to while God waited during the life of Noah when he preached for those 120 years.

That makes sense, thank you. All right, your show, welcome Adam and thank you for that call. No, Satan, Christ ever went to Hades to preach the Gospel of the Lost People. There is no second chance after death once you die without Christ. It’s forever too late for you. We have Michael, not Michael the Archangel, but Michael in St. Petersburg on the air. Hello Pastor. My question is concerning when the apostles actually got saved. I heard a pastor was saying that when Peter proclaimed that Jesus was the Christ, that at that point he wasn’t even saved.

No, that’s not true. He did. In John chapter 1, we have Andrew saved first. And then it says the first thing he did was he found his brother Peter and he said, Peter we found him a siam and he introduces Peter to Christ and Christ then changes his name and says now on you’re going to be called Peter, he was Simon. And so it was in John chapter one right at the very get-go and then of course he is asked to be a disciple at a subsequent time a little bit later but Peter was saved right from the get-go.

be true then early on. Exactly, but they weren’t saved by following. They were saved by trusting Christ. The following had to be with discipleship. Christ had followed me and I’ll make you a fisher of men. That was a second invitation. It didn’t happen at the same time when Peter was led to Christ when he was brought to Christ by Andrew. There was nothing about serving or following. But later, Jesus catches them on the edge of the Sea of Galilee going about their work and he said, look, follow me and I’ll make you fishers of men.

And they left their nets straight away and they followed Christ and they became disciples. And so a disciple is one who is now serving. But Judas never became a believer. Judas was unsaved when he died and went to hell. Okay. All right. Thank you very much. You’re sure welcome. Thank you, Michael, in St. Pete. We have James in Riverview, Florida, and James, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. James Riverview, are you there? Yes. I’m here, Dr. How are you doing?

Good. Good. Thank you for your broadcast. I listen to you just about every day. Wonderful. And I have a question. I wanted to find out if you could shed something. light on a broadcast that I heard, my little host was talking about 2011 will be Christ’s return. I know that’s a lot of hogwash in there, but that were interesting about Israel’s return to the land and the generation that was involved in the six-day would see the return and he did some rough calculation about how old they were and how old they would get come any day.

I don’t know, you know, I hear a lot of date forecasting all the time. I just know it’s near, but some believe as Jekyll and Epi does the calculations, I don’t know who you are listening to, he does the calculations for Matthew. They’re the genealogy of Christ and he takes it from Abraham to Jesus. And there was three groups of 14 generations that stand that time and he divides three 3.14 into that number of years. It comes out with the length of a generation is 51.5 years.

He adds that to 1967 when the Jewish people got Jerusalem back. It comes out with the second coming then being at the year 2018 or 19. If you subtract 7 from 18, you get 2011, don’t you? And if you take it from 2019 since it’s 0.5 and we find that it was in the middle of the year in June when they got the temple back in 1967, that probably make it 2019, so more likely it’s 2012. But it’s an interesting guess and that might be right.

But I don’t. And that’s the way I think they come up with that number. And then also the Mayan calendar ending in the year 2012 and a lot of the new age and all those people really believe that something significant is going to happen, including the Muslims, believe their Messiah will come around that time around 2012. So I don’t know, it’s all guessing, but I think we’re close and I think that we shouldn’t set a date, but we can just be saying, hey, we’re getting close.

I think Christ is returning. sure obvious with what’s happening in our world that i don’t think we go much further you saw what happened with sports and they’re assigned into law uh… where they cannot use the phrase bomber dad or father mother in school and that little boys little girls can use it the opposite restrooms and locker rooms that interchangeably if they want to that uh… uh… they’ve just basically opening the schools in our children to homosexuals it’s uh…

said role we’re living in well thank you thank you for calling in we are living in the end times as the bible talks about it we’re not going to do it again darick lives in st pitties bird or at least he’s calling in from st pitt darick welcome to bible on your own ear uh… yet thanks i i was wondering i i i i believe in uh… being saved by grace through faith but i was wondering uh… where in james it says about uh…

uh… faith without works is that James is talking to believers not about how to be saved, but about having rewards. You’ll notice he says, my brother and my brother and my brother. And if you mark it, it’s just almost every couple of, well, two, three times a chapter. He’s talking to believers, not unbelievers. He’s not talking about how to be saved. But after we’re saved, he’s talking about standing before the Lord at the judgment seat of Christ. Says in a feed in James 2 12 so speak ye and so do ye as though that will be judged by the law of Liberty That’s that’s Christians standing at the judgments of Christ and the result will be rewards Is described there in chapter 2 verse 14 is profit?

He says what profit brethren are you gonna have if you have faith and don’t have any works? All the answers you’ll have no rewards in heaven. So you’ll enter heaven with no rewards and and obviously That’s not what you want to do as a believer. I learned early on that hey there were rewards to be earned and I said to myself I don’t want to enter heaven with no rewards. I don’t want to be at the bottom of the barrel I want to live for Christ and earn rewards in heaven and so he asked the question there in verse 14 of James 2 If you have no works can faith save you and he He is not talking about saving you from hell.

He is talking about saving you from the consequences of the believer’s judgment called the Judgement Seed of Christ where you will experience sorrow and regret and tears and embarrassment and a shameless and the loss of reward for all eternity. You don’t want that to happen to you. James is saying, look, you will not escape the consequences of this judgment just because you are saved from hell, it will not save you from the consequences of having done no works and having no profit, no reward in heaven.

So that’s what he’s talking about and he’s really saying that you will have nothing to bring about rewards in your life. Faith Without Works is dead, is referring to the word death in the Bible, is always used in the sense of separation. It means that your faith is isolated, unable to produce rewards because you can’t display your faith without your works. That’s what James’ theme is. He tells us there by Abraham and he picks up on an incident in his life 40 years after Abraham gets saved.

He tells us how he was justified by works, of course, before men, by his offering up Isaac. But when Abraham got saved, Isaac wasn’t even born. Genesis 15 and 6 tells us how he was saved. And James knows that and says it in verse 23. It says his works confirmed that he had been a believer all along, but this showed it to to men that he had faith when it says the scripture was confirmed or fulfilled that said Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness.

That’s a quote from Genesis 15, 6, long before Abraham, rather Isaac was ever born, and it was an illustration of how by his works he was justified before men. They saw his faith in action by his willingness to offer up that son he had waited a lifetime for. Right. Okay. Wonderful. I think you very much. You’re very welcome and thank you for calling in that was Derek by the way We are gonna take some of these off-air questions here and Maybe you’d like to call in and ask some yourself.

You can leave them off here or ask them on air again I’m thinking about going to Israel in this coming year We’ll probably leave the last week in February. We returned the end of the first week in March, and we should have the price and the departure date, the return date. And last, well, this last trip in March of this year was wonderful. We didn’t sense any danger. Our hotels were great, the meals were great. Everything was great. We just saw so much and enjoyed it so much.

We’d like to have you go with us. So if you want to call and get on the list, it doesn’t obligate you in any way, but we’ll keep you informed. We should never assure you very shortly here that we can mail out to you and maybe you’d like to go. And this will be trip number 15 for me. Also, we want you to know that Gospel John is available. People are really enjoying that. But we have so many. The book of Revelation is really popular.

The book of Daniel is very, very popular. We have the book of Zachariah, another great prophetic book. And so many other great books. The Book of Romans is wonderful. What a series that was that we did. And the book of Jude and the book of Hebrews, which a lot of people have trouble with Hebrews. It seems like if you go out looking for commentary on Hebrews, they’re hard to find. Because I don’t think many people would attack on Hebrews.

It’s a difficult book for most people. And we answered all the difficult passages in Hebrews on that series. And you get those 10 hours of teaching by calling and asking for that. Check out, call it an S for resource sheet and you’ll have it all or you can go to the internet and you can see all the different series that we have. So keep that in mind. We have anonymous in Richmond, Virginia that calls in and he says, I know we’re not saved from works, but where does works play a role in salvation?

Well, I’m not too sure that I read that question correctly. But in any case, works bring about reward, and that’s the whole bottom line. 1 Corinthians 3, 11 through 15, 1 Corinthians 3, 11 through 15 says that the believer will have his works examined one day and will determine the degree of reward in heaven. But the most amazing thing to me is verse 15 of that chapter says even if your works are all burned up if you did nothing Word of reward it says that you would suffer loss of reward, but you would still be saved So you will not be lost even if you don’t do any works But every believer ought to be forewarned that hey like James says You don’t want to enter heaven and be ashamed and be embarrassed and and and shed tears and and and and suffer the loss of reward for all eternity.

That just doesn’t make any sense. And anything you do, whatever it is, no matter how small, will be rewarded if you serve Christ in any way. The Lord is going to reward you. Well, we… Patty calls in from Tampa, Florida, and she says, off air, how do we debate the violence in the Quran to agnostics when they point out stoning in the Bible. Well, you know, the core end teaches that you’re to hate your enemy. The Bible says you’re to love your enemy.

The Bible teaches that we are to win the loss to Christ and bring them to eternal salvation. The core end teaches conquering the world by violence and that’s exactly what they’re doing. Now certainly the Bible teaches that there are laws to be kept and if somebody is in violation of law, they would be brought before the courts and judged it and given a punishment according to their crime. Nor numerous crimes that were capital punishments and they were killed by stoning including murder and others that were capital offenses and they would stone those that were guilty.

But it’s not the same as in Islam where they believe that you and I, just being Christians, that that’s enough of a reason to kill us. And that is that’s sad. Well, we are going to go now to Tom in Tampa, Florida, and all of our lines are lighting up again here and we’ll try to get some of these scholars. Welcome to my one good morning, sir. How are you good? Hey, I just want to make a brief comment on this and I just got in the trucking just got on the got the program going the the issue of rewards and salvation I Think that if we’re not careful We can we can create some problems within our own are actually the, that we do with salvation, did not stem necessarily from the concept of reward, but they stem from a right understanding of what

Christ did for us and how He gave His life and died for us and that He rose from the grave and He’s promised us eternal life from Him. And I think the concept of works has to be seen in the light of understanding the price that was paid for our salvation and not in the perspective, at least not solely perspective of a consequences of doing good, you get a good reward. Some of the things that we do that are done by the energy and power are the things that will be tried by fire and consumed.

But I think the real thing that we really look at is that our labors of love come from an understanding of what Christ did for us and what he truly saved us from. And I’ll hang up and hear any comments that you have. Thanks and have a blessed day. Thank you. I would agree with you If there are at least five different motivations for us to serve the Lord. Of course, the highest is the one you made in reference to.

That is the love of Christ. 2 Corinthians 5, 14, a great verse. I love very much. It says, the love of Christ constrains us. When we understand His love and how great His love has taught us that He would be willing to die and give His life for us. We should come to the realization that we owe our lives to Him and we should be grateful. And we live for Christ if we are serving based on the highest motivation that God gives us.

That is based on love. I remember in the church I was raised in, they gave up medals for everything and some people had an attendance medal for one year for two years or three years and some people bounced around our church with a big chain of medals that would hang down 14 years or so with perfect and so on. And it really kind of annoyed me. But you know, I thought, man, a lot of people are serving for the wrong reasons.

And if you’re just trying to get a medal to display on your chest, I think that’s kind of the wrong reason. I think you hit it on the head. The right reason is because Christ loved us and died for us. And he’s going to reward all of our labors of love without about it. We are out of time again, and we have lots of I’m sorry that we got you cut off but come. Give back on tomorrow, and we hope you’ll join us every day here on Bibleline.

I’m Dr. Englund. It’s been a great day to be with you here on Bibleline. And thank you for tuning in. I tell you, we’re just so excited to want to get a chance to meet some of you that listen. If you ever get a chance to come to Tampa, if you’re out of town, come by and knock on our door. We’re right next to the airport on the West Side, a block from the Tampa International Airport. We’re very, very close.

If you get more than a block from the airport, you’re probably going to get lost if you’re looking for us. Come on by, say hi. Visit us on the Internet. You can see just about everything there are programs, worship services. Join us, would you? And that’s BibleLineMinistries.org.com. Again, if you can help us, we are less or supported. And I wouldn’t talk about money if I didn’t have to. If I had all the money in my pocket to pay for it, I would do it myself and would never even bring it up perhaps.

That’s not God’s plan. He really wants us to partner together. He gives you an opportunity to be a part of this ministry and a part in sharing not only of the blessing of bringing the program to people, but also the blessing of sharing the rewards that will come and eternity as a result of my mind. As you give, I believe you’ll share equally with me whatever rewards I get, whatever they might be, you’ll get in on those same rewards because that’s what it is.

I think that as you choose where you’re going to give your money, if you give to a ministry that is doctorally sound, that is reaching people that are lost from the gospel, challenging the saved to serve the Lord and get into God’s Word and is seeing people moving forward for Christ, then you’re obviously investing in a good place. And today more and more I think that we are just getting very weak, Dr. Lee out there and this Christian world and we need to obviously sound the trumpet in a sense to go back to the Bible to be true to God’s Word and proclaim Christ.

Pray for us. You could help us, that would be great. for us again tomorrow. Keep looking up of course Jesus is coming and I’ll be with you tomorrow. Join me then. Have a great day.
