A lot of people are doing that many different cities and places around the world as well as across this country. Again, we’re getting closer to Israel and it’s really beyond the deadline, but we can possibly still get you on if you want to go with us.

It’ll be trip number 15 for me. Call and we’ll get that information to you and answer any questions you might have. Leaving February 25th, it’s a 14 day trip. will be 12 full days in Israel and we want you to go. I understand it was snowing this past week in Jerusalem and it is obviously a very nice time of year. We’ve done through class 6, but this coming Tuesday will be 7 and 8 and then the following Tuesday 9 and 10 and we’ll finish First Peter.

It’s going to be a wonderful series when we get done and we are already excited about what is taking place thus far. We have the class before that was the Gospel of John. We did about 20 hours of teaching on that marvelous book, verse by verse. And if you go searching, you’ll have difficulty finding an audio, verse by verse teaching of any book in the Bible, much less particular book you might be interested in. We’ll go to Israel and then we’ll come back and do second Peter.

So we’ll have a wonderful set when we get all done. First Peter and second Peter. Do you have any questions you can call in and leave them all fair? Or you can call and get up on the air. What are those people who are already calling in here? The number is 1-800-576-3771. 576-3771 and you’re invited, if you would, to come and Call in with your question and we’ll try to give you an answer right here today on the program.

A lot of people submit their questions on the Internet. If you go to our website, BibleLineMinistries.org, click on the Spinning Globe. The page for our radio program comes up and it’s already set to go where you could type in your question, put your first name in the city you’re calling from, hit submit and we’ll get it within seconds. And that’s a nice fast way to get a question to us. But however you do it, my phone will be glad to take it off here, question over the phone, and of course you’re welcome to get up on the air with us.

If you have your Bible there, get it out. We’re going to turn to the book of Revelation, and we’re going to look at some of the interesting verses here that talk about overcoming. Revelation 2 7 says he that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit said under the churches. The Bible is talking here about spiritual hearing. You might have perfect hearing as far as this world is concerned, but yet not be able to hear anything from the Spirit of God.

And if you have spiritual ears, you are able to hear what God is saying through his word. How do you get those spiritual ears? Well according to the Bible you have to become born again. When you are unsaved, it says in 1 Corinthians 2, 14, the natural man received not the things of the Spirit of God for the foolishness unto him, neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned. If somebody ever says, well you know the Bible doesn’t make sense.

The Bible is just a lot of foolishness. Well, that’s a tip-off that they’re not saved. Post-very phrases are used in the Bible, and that verse I just quoted. It says, the natural man, the unsaved man, does not receive the things of the Spirit of God. They are foolishness to him. Neither can they know them because they are spiritually discerned. So obviously the unbeliever is not able to discern the scriptures. So you have to be born again. When you trust Christ as your Savior, you become born again at that instant.

You’ll find in 1 John 5, 1, it says, Whosoever believeeth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God is born again? And of course that word believe is better expressed as the word trust. When you trust Jesus as the one who died for you, God saves you. And you become born again. And then all of a sudden it is like the light turns on and God illuminates our understanding. He gives us the scripture through inspiration where we have all of the Bible, Genesis to Revelation, given to us by God the Holy Spirit, who is the author by inspiration.

But then on our end when we read the Bible we need his illumination where he sheds light upon the passages we’re reading and studying. Well, obviously, here it talks about in some of these revelation verses, to him or he that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches, to him that overcome us. And that phrase is used now numerous times in the book of Revelation. And guess what? an overcomer. I used to think was some special person who was very dedicated and really close to the Lord and that was an overcomer.

Somebody who is just really living the victorious Christian life to the max. But guess what? That’s not true. Every believer is an overcomer. Let me quote for you, 1 John 5 verse 4 and 5. It says, for whatsoever is born of God, overcometh the world, and this is the victory that overcometh the world even our faith. So it’s clear here, if you’ve been born again, you’re an overcomer. And then he goes on to say in verse 5 of 1 John chapter 5, who is he that overcometh the world, but he the believer that Jesus is the Son of God.

So in other words, a believer is an overcomer by virtue of what Christ overcame on our behalf at the cross. When he died on that cross, he overcame death, sin, the penalty of sin. He overcame the grave, he came back from the dead, he’s alive forever more and he did all of that on our behalf. And so when you trust Jesus Christ as your Savior, you become at the very moment of belief in overcomer. I want to go to Revelation 3-5 because this is certainly one of my favorites where it says, He’s at overcoming.

Again, you need to put in your margin of your Bible 1 John 5, 4 and 5, 1 John 5, 4 and 5 where we just read in verse 5 that who is He that overcomeeth the world? Answer. He that believeeth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. When you trust Christ, you He’s an overcome with Revelation 3.5 says, The same shall be clothed in white rainmen. I believe that’s talking about the garment of salvation that every believer receives.

It’s really the righteousness of Christ that becomes our covering, which enables us to be eligible to enter Heaven. to inner heaven. When you trust Christ as your Savior, God no longer sees you in your sin and in your righteous deeds which the Bible describes as filthy rags. But he sees you with a covering, a robe of righteousness, the Bible says, which comes to everyone who believes on Christ as Savior. Secondly, it says in Revelation 3, 5, and I will not brought out his name out of the book of life.

So he says, I’ll not block out his name out of the book of life. So what is so interesting about the book of life is that most people are taught wrong. I was also. Most people think that when you trust Christ, then your name is written down in the book. That’s not the case at all. The Bible teaches that everybody’s book name is in the book to begin with. And if you die as an unbeliever, Your name will be strictened at the moment of death and your name will be taken out of the book.

But if you become a believer, the promise is made here in Revelation 3.5 that your name will never come out. It says that I will not want out his name out of the book of life. It’s implied that it’s already there. In Revelation 3.5 when you become a believer and overcomer, you have the promise of God that your name will never come out of the book of life. Isn’t that great? My name is there, it has been there from the get-go, but God promises now that I have trusted Christ, but my name will never come out of the book.

So once you trust Christ, your name is permanently in the book of life, but because God gives you opportunity to get saved up until the last day of your life on this planet. Your name is there in the book of life, but if he dies an unbeliever, he will strike your name from the book upon your death. And then later at the Great White Throne Judgment, when all the unsaved are examined according to their works, then determine the degree of punishment.

They will receive in hell, Revelation 20, verses 11 through 15, describe this Great White Throne Judgment. Only unbelievers are there. And when they open the book and they look, your name will not be there, because your Your name is blooded out at the moment of death if you die as an unbeliever. But if you are a believer, Revelation 3, 5, he says, I will not blood out his name out of the book of life. Isn’t that wonderful to know?

And you know, we all get taught wrong. I was taught wrong in my church. I was always led to believe that when you became a believer, then your name was written down. That’s not true. is there Christ died for everyone. He potentially made it possible for every human being to be saved. But the choice is yours. You have up until you draw your last breath. If you die after having taken your last breath and you have not trusted Christ, your name will be stricken from the book.

But at any time in your life when you become a believer, He makes a promise I will not blot out his name out of the book of life. And then we read lastly here in Revelation 3.5, if you are a believer that is your an overcomer, it says here that I will confess his name before my father and before his angels. Did you know, apparently, at the moment of belief, there is an announcement made in heaven that you are now saved, that you will be arriving one day.

In fact the Bible says in Ephesians 220 that you become citizens of heaven, that your fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God. That occurs at the moment of belief you are made a citizen of heaven. That becomes your home and eventually you will go home because this world according to the Bible for the believer is not our home. I am Dr. Englins from this Bibleline. We’re gonna go to the phone lines here in just a moment.

The phone number is 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. Give us a call here. 1-800-576-3771. We hope that you’ll enjoy Bibleline today. We are excited again about how the Lord provides. We sure could use your help though. If you are a listener, we are a listener supported. That’s the only means of support we have. And if you haven’t given for January, could you give a gift? as we enter into February, we could use your help to do that. We certainly appreciate all of you who pray for us, and we certainly want you to pray daily for us.

But also if you could give a gift, that would be great. You could do that by a credit card or the phone. If you want to call, you’re welcome to give a gift to Bible, and it would really be helpful to us. We’re now going to go to Claude in these in Toronto, Canada. And Claude, we welcome you to the Bible and program. Thanks for tuning in today. You’re on the air. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. I’m reading in Genesis and with the story of the fall of man there were two trees in the garden and an arm were told not to touch the tree of knowledge.

I’m just good. Well, I didn’t say they weren’t to touch it. They weren’t. They weren’t to eat of it. You know, we find Satan adds that to the word in chapter 3. And that’s the way he always deceives people. And that’s why the Bible says in Revelation 22, we’re not to add. And Satan will add something to it that’s not there. God never said you couldn’t touch it, but he said you couldn’t eat of that tree. And of course, that’s the sin that brought us all down was Adam’s eating of that tree.

Well, that’s what Satan said. God never said that. This tree, the food that was one to be desired to make one wise, that the tree still exists today. That tree does not exist today, and that is the tree of the knowledge we’re going to evil. Actually, when they would disobey God there, they would become then knowledgeable of sin, of evil, because they would have disobey God and experienced not only doing that, but the consequences of it, which really was a fallen sinful nature that came upon the whole human race, and God placing a curse upon Satan himself for having done this, and also upon the earth that it would be difficult now for man to earn a living, he would have to sweat.

Whereas apparently work on this earth was kind of easy. Prior to the fall, all they had to do was tend to garden, which was probably a very little effort involved in all, just taking the fruit off the trees. But we find now that with weeds and thorns and other obstacles with great difficulty, get food out of the earth today. Yes, I understand all of that, but I’m saying, was there some potency intense that they did but called man to fall because obviously when they were wise, so did this food add certain?

No, I don’t believe so. I believe it was simply the violation of God’s command and the punishment that he predicted would happen, that they would die spiritually and then later physically would be the consequences consequences and that the earth and they would come and her curse But why was it from the garden just like it’s true? It was there for a test cloth that was it It served its purpose. It’s gone and God tested man You know he could have made us all robots and we would have responded to whatever he wanted us to do and That would not have brought God pleasure.

We could have at his command say I love you God I love you like a robot, but he wanted creatures of toys and he realized that if we had choice that man would Would it would bring ruin and destruction and anarchy and so on into the universe? That’s exactly what has happened Thank you Claude. Good stuff. Alright we are going to join in Tamper 4, Join welcome to Bible and John here. Hello Sher gluten evaluating how you say good.

I have two questions. My first question was nomination church versus one of the denominational churches and then the second one is Is it possible for someone to when you when you’re playing with them the prayer salvation to follow you One for words, but for some reason still not get saved. I say I last one again. I didn’t really quite follow that The second question yeah Is it possible you know when you are playing with people? the prayer of salvation and you found a follow along with you and prayer?

Yes. Is it possible for them to follow along with you or for in the prayer? But for some reason still not get saved? Well the answer is yes because again they must trust Christ to be saved. It’s not prayer that saves, but it is trusting Christ that he died and shed his blood and paid their sin dead at the cross in full. in full. And so it’s the trust in Jesus Christ that brings about salvation. Prayer doesn’t save you, but it is nice to take time to say, Lord, right now I put my trust in you as my Savior and just finalize this thing.

But it’s when you trust Him that you become saved. And this is basically before God you say, I do that right now. I’m trusting you to be my Savior when you trust Him, God saves you. But the prayer really is not necessarily necessary. And sometimes though it’s a good thing to do with somebody because you actually confront them with trusting Christ and have them then confess to Christ or to God that they are trusting Him right now and from now on they trust Him as their Savior.

As far as my church, we chose to be independent and chose the name Calvary Community so that we’d just be open to everybody. We thought that Cross was the most significant event in the Bible, which I still believe it is, and we didn’t want to limit people of a particular background to coming. We wanted all people so we chose the name community. There’s lots of different names and there’s nothing in other words that you have to have a particular name, but we simply chose that for that reason that we wanted to say we want everybody to be able to come, no one to be excluded, and we wanted to focus on Calvary and what Jesus did and to cross for us.

Okay. Thank you, Duane. That was Duane in Tampa, Florida, calling in, and you’re welcome to call in, if you Mike and we now have Tom and Newport Richie and Tom. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yeah, hi Dr. Lynch. I’m always Friday for you. I just had a, I know in the rapture we’re all going to basically be taken. Mind if I’m not, if the one non-believers, the believers will be taken up and caught up to meet the Lord in the air.

Non-believers will be left behind. The one thing that I’ve struggled with, basically, I don’t know if it’s just for a former military or what, but I feel that for some reason, if that obviously for me is going to occur, I’m a believer and I’ve followed that, you know, righteously, but I have this overwhelming feeling throughout my life that I wanted to be able to return and exist in any way playing whatever evil is… people are still on their own POWs or MIA’s behind.

I mean, I want to be taken, but in the same sense, I also want to do more than just speak that. I understand. Let me just say goodbye to Miami. They are listening and they sign off a little bit earlier than the rest of the station. So thank you Miami and bring, I hope you’ll listen to us again, beginning. Money will be live again in your area. All right. I’m back. What happens there is that what work we have to do is we have to do a little bit of work We need to do now because time is running out.

It says in Romans chapter 13 that the night is coming and the day is far spent and the time that we have to work is coming to a close. So as we get closer and closer to the Lord’s return, we need to realize there’s a sense of urgency to do all that we can. And what we are to do now is to bring the gospel to the lost because there’s a day coming when we’re going to be out of here and we won’t be able to do anything.

Okay, so basically, I mean, I, I, I, I, I fellowship with as many people as I can and also the people that are non-believers, I express through this program and other outlets for me the importance of it, but it’s just frustrating for me when they don’t and I feel like, you know, I can have one. have one more shot at it and help everybody on the bus that’s running building. I don’t know. I agree, and I feel the same way, but I’m afraid that once we’re raptured, we will not have opportunity to reach the lost here on the earth anymore.

Our job will have been done, and hopefully we’ll go out swinging and doing the best job we possibly could before the Lord returns. Thank you Tom for calling in. We’re at the end of this half hour and we’re going to come back and do a second half hour by blind. I hope you’ll keep your radio tuned right here for the second half hour. And of course we’re streaming right now that the internet where you can get this program live right now.

Again, by blind could use your help if you want to partner with us and you could give Give a gift by credit card over the phone if you want to call or you could certainly commit to praying for us. We appreciate all those who pray and thank you in advance for giving and praying for Bible We’re going to take a break and we’ll come right back into a second half hour.

Hi, I’m Dr. Anken Sherman. We’re having fun here. This is Friday. the week is just flown by for us here at Bible and Headquarters and maybe it has for you as well. And we hope that you’re really enjoying and learning and growing. Some people tell us that one man in particular said he learned more in 30 days of Bibleline than he did in 30 years in his church.

Well that’s a bad commentary on the church because obviously they’re not doing the job they ought to do, but we are so tickled and pleased that we are helping people grow and get their questions answered and challenging believers to live for Christ. Then I hope we are a positive influence in your life and that you are enjoying the programs every day that you listen. Again, you can go back and hear past programs and we have about a year’s worth in our time.

If you just go to BibleLineMinistries.org, click on that spinning globe and you’ll be connected to the radio programs. Also click on the TV you’ll be connected to the television programs. We’ve got some wonderful books and some of them are great authors. We have Charles Ryrie and he’s got a number of books that we are stocking here, Balancing the Christian Life, which is a wonderful book that really gives you some good perspective on different areas of your Christian life where you need to have balance.

We also have his book on the Holy Spirit, his book on the Book of Revelation and other books. And one of the crowning ones is his basic theology book, which is a gem to have in your library. Then other authors like Louis Perry Shafer, his books are going out of print but they are marvelous and we have about five or six different titles and are excellent including his systematic theology which normally sells for about $180 and we have it on special here now for a gift of a hundred to Bible and we can send out that It’s actually originally 8 biomesip but now in 4 beautifully bound and you’ll have a lot of material there to study.

So it’s exciting we want you to check that out BibleLineMinistries.org click on the home page on the camera and you’re in. And of course, if you’re in driving distance, we invite you to come to the worship service here in Tampa, Florida. We’re right next to the airport, so we’re easy to find, and we hope you’ll drop on by.

Again, if you are curious about Israel, it’s not too late maybe. It’s tentative. We’ll have to scramble. But I think we can get you on board if you want to go. So give me a call about that as well. We’re now going to go to Joseph in Tampa and Joseph Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air Yes, I’m here. Okay, you’re on Okay, I wanted to add an issue of conservative timing. I just wanted to see if for some apparent reason my heart is torn apart with what’s going on with the top of the evangelist, with the situation, with their clients being used for personal gain and for other things other than the church.

I just wanted to clarify that if we gave our time to our church, we would have to be able to do that. that we would be giving it to the Lord, because I feel that some of us are hardworking individuals, and we believe for what we read in the Word. And then the Bible says, test me in this for I will open up the windows of the heavens. And if we are faithful to the Lord and giving our time, then that we can actually be blessed by Him in many areas of our lives.

But the way that the world is going now with these type of and unless it really hurts my heart to know that they’re using our heart and money for the person to gain in areas which have nothing to do with the church. Could you elaborate and clarify for me my faith concerning giving and I’ll just have a position. Well obviously you need to be smart and give where you’re getting fed and blessed. And I thinkmunition figure out there Where you’re going with it, you know if you do your homework obviously If you are supporting a ministry whose message is not correct and obviously they are malpracticing, then you are bidding them God’s speed and God said you are going to be a partaker of their evil deeds.

Some of them once wisely said, do your giving while you are living so you are knowing where it is going. And obviously, if you are hearing the word of God taught and you find that it’s feeding your soul, that’s probably the place where you ought to be doing your giving. And if you are involved with a ministry like that, I think you’ll get a feel for whether it’s being spent wisely or not. I know here with Bible and we don’t really pay any salaries we We are going to take a look at what we’re doing.

That’s because we have a real desire to get the gospel out and all of our staff here volunteer their time. That allows us to do much more than otherwise we could really do. We really are a small fighting force that’s able to do beyond what most ministries can do because we are focused on our lives. We have a lot of people who are doing it. on getting that word out. So I think you have to just be wise and do your homework.

You need to find out what the doctrines are of the ministry or church that you are supporting, making sure they’re doctrinally in tune. And then obviously if you see souls being saved and you see that they are doctrinally sound and you can usually tell how by just taking a look, I know that many churches invested and things that appeal to your senses. And if you come here, you’ll notice that we spend our money primarily to get the gospel out.

And we don’t try to have the fanciest things that would appeal to the senses, but we want to make sure that we’re spending it as wise as we can to get the gospel out. So you’re going to have to make that decision, but I hope you’ll just have your eyes open and compare what you’re seeing with Scripture, and I think you ought to be able to come out just fine. I hope that helps, Joseph. I guess Joseph is gone.

Do you give while you’re living pay attention to where you’re giving, but definitely ought to give it to the Lord. We’re going to go to Gary in Bradenton, Florida, and Gary, welcome to Bibleline, and you’re on the air. Good morning, Pastor Hank. Good morning. Pastor Hank, is there any Scripture? any scripture in the old or new testament that tells us just what happened those three days after Jesus died and my second part of that question is why does the apostles create that he decided to hell if we know that that what happened good question Good question.

There are a number of passages and we know that he went down into paradise. Paradise is or was in the heart of the earth and that’s where all of the departed saved in the Old Testament went. And there they had to wait until their sins were paid for by Christ out of the cross and then Christ himself descended there and proclaimed liberty. Let me give you a couple of verses. In the early 1240, Jesus says as Jonah was three days and three nights in the fishes belly, social and son of man be three days and three nights, he says in the heart of the earth.

So we know he went to the heart of the earth. In Luke 23, 43, he says to the dying thief, today thou shalt be with me in paradise. So we know that paradise therefore was in the heart of the earth. Isaiah 61 verse 1 tells us that he would proclaim liberty to the saints and that he would go down into the heart of the earth to be with him. We read Ephesians 4 8 through 10 that he led a group captive out of the heart of the earth and took them up to heaven.

All the Old Testament saints are now in heaven, but if you had died in the Old Testament, You would have been absent in the body, present in paradise as the dying thief was. And today we’re absent in the body, present with the Lord, we can go directly to heaven because our sins are fully paid for. The Apostles Creed says that Christ is sinned in hell. That’s certainly terribly wrong. Christ never went to hell, never will go to hell. But Jesus went to take the believers out of this temporary holding place because now sin had finally been paid for.

I like to say the Old Testament saints had what we call a layaway salvation and they couldn’t really take it home or enjoy it until it was finally paid in full. This side of the cross are sins are fully paid for so we can enter directly into heaven upon trusting Christ. But there’s a lot of passages about that experience and if you go to Luke 16 beginning in verse 19 to the end of the chapter, Jesus pulls back the curtain on the unseen world and you get a glimpse into the heart of the earth prior to the cross.

And there you have two men who die, a rich man, and he goes to a place in the heart of the earth called a place of torment in Hades. And then a beggar named Lazarus dies and he goes to the paradise part of Hades and He’s comforted whereas the Richmond is tormented. The Richmond is still there and he won’t come out until after Satan’s cast into hell. Then he’ll be cast into the lake of fire where the devil is because he’s an unbeliever.

the uh… beggar lasworth He was there to remain there until Christ died, and when Christ died he went down to where that beggar was and announced liberty. And on the third day he took all of those people, including that beggar and including the thief that died on the cross that believed on up to heaven itself. And so paradise is now in heaven. Thank you Pastor Hank. You’re welcome Gary. Good night. Thank you for tuning in. Gary down in the Braden in 40.

You’re welcome to call the numbers 1-800-576-3771. Sandy in Saint Pete just a moment ago said, please explain what you are teaching in the name being blotted out. Jesus being written in the book of life. Well, the Bible is clear that your name is there. It talks about people having their names blotted out. They can’t get a bottle of outness, they’re written in and the implication is that everybody’s name in the human race is placed in the book of life to begin with.

But if you die as an unbeliever, then your name is stricken from the book. And it’s interesting that there are verses that talk about that and yet nobody ever seems to get this thing right or teach on it. But it’s very clear that the unbelievers at death have their names stricken. And I’ll go back to the Psalms for just a minute and I’ll show you an interesting passage. This is going to be, let’s see here, Psalm chapter 69. This is a Messianic Psalm.

It’s about Christ long before He ever came. And here it talks about in verse 21, they gave me also gall for my meat. my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. That happened on the cross. Here he talks about those that rejected him, that took him to the cross. He says in verse 28, let them be blotted out of the book of the living and not written with the righteous. Here it talks about blotting out names of unbelievers and of course it would happen at their death.

But we just ran a verse in Revelation 3-5 in the first half of the program where Jesus makes a promise that if you are a believer that he will not blot out your name out of the book of life. So, once you become a believer you can just sit back and relax and know that your name will never be taken out of the book of life. You will never go to hell as a believer. You are saved forever. But if you are an unbeliever, your name will remain there until death because you have opportunity to change your mind and trust Christ before you die, just like the dying thief did.

But if you die without Christ, your name will be stricken from the book. Thank you, Sandy. Sandy and St. Pete asking that question. And you’re welcome to call in with your question or get on the air with us at 1-800-576-3771. Karen in Valrico, Forta calls in and says, please explain what it means to be a purpose-driven church. Well, that’s obviously where you link up with Rick Warren, out of California and become one of those who follows his little 40 days of purpose.

But obviously, I think you need to really examine that if you decide do you wanna do that because there’s a lot of things that are wrong about the whole movement. We have a couple of books in our Resource Center here. One is called Deceived on Purpose about the deception of the purpose driven church and also another one who’s driving the purpose driven church and you’ll find that it’s a very very enlightening study. Rick Warren’s gospel I believe is flawed and it’s a continuance of to he says that I have the video series of what he taught.

On the third video he says that every time the same way I’m being facetious here, obviously he would, but he says what you do here on the earth determines where you’ll spend eternity. That’s works. Works for salvation is the basis and it’s false. I believe you have to stay away from the purpose-driven church. Anyway, we are going to try to catch another couple of questions here, but we do have Robert in braiden donforth and let’s go to robert first robert welcome to buy a new year paper and i got a little bit And I’ll hang up and I’ll listen to you.

Thank you. Okay. The gift of prophecy doesn’t exist anymore. It says in 1 Corinthians 13 8 through 10 that it would cease when the New Testament record was completed. And the reason why in the Greek word there says it would be rendered entirely unnecessary. In other words, prior to the New Testament being written, if you want to know about future things, you had to have the gift of prophecy or have somebody who had that gift expressed. And basically it was like the Rapture would be the next event of God’s program, then followed by the tribulation period, the rise of the Antichrist, and of course the Battle of Armageddon, the return of Christ to rule on this earth for a thousand years, and so on and so on.

And all the future events unfolded. But now that we have the completed New Testament, which is really the point at which these gifts would cease, the gift of prophecy was rendered entirely unnecessary. Because now I can just point you to the Bible and go through these future things as they’re explained in the scripture. So the gift of prophecy I believe has ceased. So we don’t expect to be anybody with a prophet. Now what’s happening in a lot of the churches today is there really is fortune telling and it’s witchcraft and it’s really an incursion of Satan into the modern day church.

Church. I would watch out for that when they try to tell you something short-term in your life that you’re going to come into some money or you’re going to meet a tongue and hand some stranger or such and such and such. That is not the biblical gift of prophecy. If anybody calls themselves a prophet today, I would turn and run because the gift of prophecy is over. It ended with the completion of the New Testament. It was rendered entirely unnecessary Because we have everything we need to know about the future spelled out in Scripture, and so there is no more gift of prophecy.

So I sure hope that helps you with that a little bit. And we have a wonderful book here called New Testament Teaching on Tongues by Merle Unger, and he exegetes that chapter 13 of Corinthians and leaves no wiggle room. You will see they’re very clearly the gift of non-Zing of the prophecy and the gift of tongues are gone and why they’re gone and how the scripture really confirms that plainly that they would cease and did cease in history bears that out.

It’s a great book and he’s a great author. We’re now going to go to Tony and Tony is in Paul, Maine Florida and Tony welcome to Bible on you’re on the air. Yes, good morning. My question is regarding salvation. Basically, to my understanding is all you have to do is trust and believe with all your heart that the Lord Jesus Christ is your King and Savior. I guess my question would be by believing this with all of your heart.

And let’s say, Are we to fulfill the will of God and by doing so are we responsible to pray, be in communion with Him, to become Christ-like? Well, there’s two things going on here. You’re saved by what Christ did for you by trusting His finished work at the cross. And it’s not the degree to which you believe, but it’s the object to which you believe in. You said several times, believe with all your heart, but you trust is the key word there.

And if you trusted a palm tree to get you to heaven, you’re not going to make it. But if you trust in Jesus, who is God, who came and paid your sin for that and full, and is fully capable of doing what he promised, you know, you read a good definition of faith in Romans 4 where Abraham was persuaded that what God had promised he was also able to perform. So when you trust that Jesus Christ, because of who he is and what he did for you, is fully capable of giving you eternal life and keeping you safe forever, you become saved.

And then as a believer, whether we pray or not has to do with rewards and joy and fellowship and our effectiveness and our testimony and earning rewards in heaven, all of that is affected by that. So as a believer, yes, he wants us to pray. There are actually four fundamental, basic foundational things that everybody will ought to do to grow. We call them the Four Talks. The first one is reading the Bible. God talks to you and me through the Bible.

Number two, the second talk is talking to God. That’s prayer. And the third talk is talking to other believers as we’re to fellowship with other believers which will encourage us to lift us up. And the fourth talk is that we’re to share the Gospel with the lost. So if you are a believer and you want to move forward, which you ought to, you ought to do those four talks. But they don’t say that. save you and whether you do them or not doesn’t affect your salvation but it does affect rewards it does affect your joy and it does affect your blessings inRFC and in eternity.

So that’s the question. I understand that now if we but yet we still trust that Jesus Christ in the Bible it seems very easy to be letting the In the Bible it says that no murderer, no drunkard will enter the king of heaven. Just for an example, now let’s just say amongst the salvation that a change, a drastic change happened and all of a sudden stop drinking. But now let’s say tomorrow I go back and I start drinking and I start doing all these other things and if the Lord comes during that time, will I still be promising?

promise salvation. Absolutely. It has nothing to do with it. What happens is that God will chase and discipline the delinquent blabber. It’s the same thing with children at home. I don’t know if you have any children, but if you have disobedient children, they’re not happy. If you’re an obedient child, you’ll be happy. And that means they’re not your child anymore. I love that old hymn. Trust in a bank for there’s no other way to be happy. He trusts Christ and he becomes saved.

But to be happy, you must be an obedient believer. And if you’re disobedient, God says also, He’s going to discipline you. Hebrews chapter 6, Hebrews chapter 12, verse 6 says, for whom the Lord loves, he chases and disciplines every son whom he receives. So if you’re received in the God’s family as a child of God by the new birth by trusting Christ, you’re forever his child. My children, when they were younger, whether they were obedient or disobedient were still my children.

That doesn’t affect the fact that they’re my children and I’m their father. But it does affect their allowance, it affects their privileges and it affects a lot of things about how things go within the household. the same thing is true in the family of God. You’re still saved, but you are going to be happy. And the Lord might even decide to take you home to heaven early. So, in your life here on the planet might just whisk away. Hezekiah was told, because of his sin, that God was going to take him out.

And he changed his mind about and cleaned up his life, and God gave him 15 more years to live. So, you need to realize that God might decide to So basically what you’re saying is that all we need to do is trust the Christ Jesus that his blood is forgiven. I like to say it this way. It’s all you can do. It’s not all you need to do. There’s not plan A, B and C and D here. There’s only one thing you can do to be saved.

That’s the trust in Christ. It’s not all you can do. The only choice you have is to do that or you go to hell. By doing so. That’s correct. So you can easily just sit back, be comfortable and do whatever it is that you please and know that you’re going to heaven. That’s correct. No wonder, I mean really, look at what Jesus said in John 637. He says, him that come with me, I will in no wise cast down.

That means for no reason. I don’t care what reason you start throwing up at me. Christ said, I will in no wise, under no circumstance, would I ever cast out anyone who’s come to me? And even better than that is John 639 where Jesus said that it’s the Father’s will that not one who has ever come to me that I would lose one. He said I will not lose any, not one. But all of them will be raised up against the last day.

And so when should you become a believer? He’s never going to lose you. If you became lost, after you became saved, then Christ will be a liar. But the grace of reward and your joy and your happiness in this life is dependent upon your serving the Lord. And I realized early on that I was going to be miserable on this planet as a believer. He said, Lord, I don’t want to fight you. I want to join you and I want to serve you.

And I’m serving not to be saved because I was saved the night I trusted Christ in 18. But I chose to serve him because first of all, grateful that he would die for me. I thought I at least I could do is live for him. And that’s what we all ought to do. Thank you for calling in. I hope that helps. And we’re getting at the end of the program here again.
