We’re on the pastor. We’d love to have you come by and we’d love to get to meet you and hopefully you’ll get a chance to meet us. That would be great. People do that every day and you’re welcome to come by. Our resource center’s open every day. about 4.30 in the afternoon. You’re welcome to drop in on us. If you want to come by on a worship day, you’re welcome to do that. And we worship of course on Sunday in the morning and again in the evening.
And I have an adult class at 9.15. You’re welcome to sit in on that as well. If you’re choosing a day to come, if you live with a driving distance, you might want to choose our third Sunday. We always have a dinner, a lunch right after the service. You’re welcome to be my guest. Come at 10.30, bring your family, your appetite, And your Bible and join us for the 1030 worship or come at the 915 for the adult study I teach and put the children and all the other classes that we have for them.
And then you can stay for the 1030 service and just stay for the wonderful dinner and fellowship that will follow. You’re certainly welcome to be a part of that. We also want you to know we’re finishing up first Peter. We have now got eight classes done and we’ll do class nine and ten next Tuesday. If you’re in driving distance, you’re welcome to come and sit in on that final class. If you want to order first Peter, it’s available after we finish next week.
All 10 hours of teaching on CD and available on DVD. A lot of folks are starting to like that DVD and the CDs are $5. The DVDs are $10. They have such quality that if you have a DVD player and you have a huge monitor at home, LED or plasma, you’ll be able to show it for the whole neighborhood. It really turns out really nice. And you might want to enjoy. You’ll be sitting like you’re sitting in the classroom and we hope that you’ll take advantage.
We also have many other studies that we’ve already done and including the Book of Revelation, the Book of Daniel, the Book of Hebrews, the Book of Romans, the Book of Jude. You’ll find them all very, very powerful. And I think that you might use them to facilitate a Bible study. Some people use them to teach a Sunday school class or some kind of a home study and they play a portion or all of a particular CD or DVD, have group discussion and then they offer refreshments and everybody goes home and one fellow told me he had to add on to his house because the room wasn’t large enough to accommodate all those that wanted to come and they were using the CDs to facilitate that Bible study.
Well, that’s an idea for you. You might want to give that a try. You’re also welcome to come by any time you’re in the area. If not, you can go to the Internet. You can actually visit our resource center by Internet. That’s right. Everything that we have is there, and you can order directly off the website, BibleLineMinistries.org. Click on the online bookstore. You’ll visit us. visit us. If you can’t get here to a worship service or visit here in person, if you go to the camera on the home page, if you do it at 11 o’clock on Sunday morning, you’ll be connected to the live service.
Exactly when we’re doing our service, you’ll be watching and it’ll be as though you’re here. And of course, during the week you can go there and click on the camera and get the past years worth of sermons. That’s right. We have 52 and sitting there with the audio and video for you to watch and we hope you’ll give that a try. We have a lot of wonderful books in our Resource Center. We have one now by Pentecost called Things to Come.
That is a classic and one of the better books or best books probably on laying out the different positions on prophecy and showing what the Bible position really is. It’s a great book. things to come by going Pentecost. We also have several other books by going Pentecost, my Charles Rieery, my John Walford and on and on and on and on these types of commentaries you can’t find anymore You know if you go to your person book store they pretty much become a a novelty store with paintings ribbons Trinkets and so on but if you really want to get substance you can hardly find it and that’s a sad story But you can come to our resource center on the internet or in person.
You’ll find good books that will really help you get solid in your Bible. We’re going to take a look at the Bible and we’re going to take our callers if you want to call the numbers 1-800-576-3771 and we have already several callers already called in and are waiting and we’ll get to them as soon as we can and we’d like to get to use well. So again that number is 1-800-576-3771 and if you desire you can leave an offer question and hang up and we’ll try to get to it as we can as soon as we possibly can.
Once you open your Bible with me to Romans, Romans 9, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans. What an incredible book Romans is. And we’re going to take a look here at chapter, in fact I think what I’m going to do is go to chapter 11 of Romans and here we have a passage that causes some people some difficulty. It says here in verse 6, not as though the Word of God hath taken an effect, for they are not all Israel, which are of Israel.
Neither because they are the seed of Abraham or the old children, but in Isaac shall I by seed be called. It’s interesting that many people are teaching that if you’re of the seed of Abraham, if you’re Jewish, you automatically are going to heaven. You are chosen to go to heaven. That’s not true. And here it’s clearly refuted in this verse. It says here just because you’re of the seed of Abraham, you’re not necessarily a child of God. And even if you’re from Jacob or Israel, you’re not necessarily Israel.
What does that all mean? Well Israel is the name of Jacob God after he got saved. And it means child of God, ish-rah-el, child of God, and he became born again when he wrestled with the angel of the Lord, which we believe was a pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus Christ himself. So it tells us who are the seed that are chosen to go to heaven here in Romans 9 and verse 8. It says that is they which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
In other words, just because you are physically the son of a ram doesn’t make you a child of God. Just because you are raised in a Christian home or raised in this country, which is considered a Christian nation, doesn’t make you a Christian. If you were born in a garage, it wouldn’t make you an automobile. And so obviously that’s not who the child of God is. But it says these are not the children of God. That is those that are just going to be born of the flesh or have some kind of lineage back to Abraham or to Isaac or to anyone.
But it says here these are not, these are not, these are not the children of God. But the children of the promise are accounted for the seed. The promise was that Jesus would come. All those that believe on the Lord Jesus Christ are counted as God’s seed because they become born again, they become a child of God, and those are the ones that will enter heaven. It says in verse 9 here of Romans chapter 9, for this is the word of promise, at this time will I come and Sarah shall have a son.
And not only this, but when Rebecca also conceived by one, even by her father Isaac, for the children being not yet born, neither having done any evil that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth it was said under her, the elders shall serve the younger. All that’s happening here is that God is picking up the one through whom the Messiah would come. The Messiah would come through Abraham, through Isaac, and then through Jacob, not Esau, although Esau was the first born.
We find here that God says, no, it’s going to be through Jacob. And then Jacob had twelve sons, and one of those, the tribe of Judah, that came out of Jacob, would be the tribe through which the Messiah would take on human flesh. And so many people read this, and they read for the children not having yet been born, neither having done any good or evil. They think that somehow God chose to save one. The Bibleline is saying that the Messiah would come through Jacob, not Esau.
Notice it says here that the purpose of God according to election might stand. Now here is the election defined for you. It says here that it might stand. It’s not a word. That’s the first thing you have to recognize about how God elects someone to be saved. It’s not on the basis of your works. If you’re thinking that your baptism, your church membership, your living life, and your life is not a word. the Christian life, your activities that you do good or bad are going to get you into heaven, you’re mistaken.
The Bible says clearly in Ephesians 2 and 9, it’s not of works, let any man should boast. And here again, the God’s purpose according to the election is it’s not of works. But what is the other part of this? It says, but it’s of him that calls. What does that mean? God is the one who calls or invites people to be saved. So it’s simply by invitation only. If you want to go to heaven, you have to respond to God’s invitation.
And what is His invitation? In John 3, 16, we have it so clearly presented that whosoever, that whosoever, it’s extended to everybody, that whosoever, believeth in Christ, should not perish but have everlasting life. So God likes to save all that would believe on Lord Jesus Christ. The old Moody made it so simple. He said, the Hoosover wills are the elect, the Hoosover won’ts are the non-elect. And so there are two important points here about election that God points out in this wonderful verse, and that is, it’s not of works.
And secondly, it’s by invitation only. The invitation is to believe or trust on Christ as your Savior, and when you trust Christ says the only hope you have a reaching heaven, God then elects you to be saved. It’s pretty simple. In other words, if you trust Christ, you go to heaven. If you don’t trust Christ, you don’t go to heaven. But then we find in verse 13, some people get confused with this as it says, Jacob, have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
That verse is a quote from the end of the Old Testament, from the last book, from Malachi. When you see what happened and why God picked Jacob, the one through them, the Messiah would come, it becomes very plain. That Esau being a profane, secular man, and not much spiritual interest, his descendants also followed that same suit. When you read the history of the descendants of Esau, they obviously didn’t go after the things of God, but Jacob did. Obviously, God knew that in advance and chose the one through whom the Messiah would come, But he didn’t choose Jacob to be saved and he saw to be lost.
That’s not what is in question here at all. He’s simply saying that he said the elder would serve the younger, meaning that Jacob, the younger, would be the ones whom the Messiah would come. That his purpose according to the election might stand, that salvation would be not of works, but it would be of God who invites you to trust in this promise, seed, the Savior, and those become the children of God. Think of adversity that says that is they which are the children of the flesh.
If you are simply physically born into this world, you are not a child of God. A lot of people teach the false teaching that we are all God’s children. And God is the father of all of us. That is not true. God is your Creator and you are his creation, but you are not his son or daughter until you become born again by trusting Jesus as your Savior. Then you become a child of God. Verse 8 says, that is, they witcher the children of the flesh, just physically born.
These are not the children of God. But the children of the promise, or the promised one, Jesus, are counted for the seed. When you trust Christ, then you become born again. Then you become a child of God. And God elects to save all that would put their trust in Christ. All those who are not counting upon their works to save them, but look to the Savior and respond the God’s invitation that whosoever would believe in Christ would not perish but have everlasting life.
I’m Dr. Englund from Mrs. Bibleline. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios right here at the Calpre Community Church, and we’re excited about being with you each and every day. We’re going to go to our phone lines, and if you want to call the numbers 1-800-576-3771-1800-576-3771, We’re going to get a Saint Petersburg and we have David waiting and David welcome to Bible and you are on the air. Good morning. Hi, Dean. Dr. Lynch, from Good.
I have a question. I’ve been looking forward to a 10. I’ve been invited to go to a full gospel church. I don’t know that much about them. What do you think about the full gospel churches? Bad. Yeah, the full gospel adds to the gospel, namely the gifts of tongues and healing and all those things. Plus they believe you can lose your salvation and it’s basically based on work. So the full gospel is going to give you more than God even offers you in the Bible.
It’s the doctrine of false. I see, so you don’t get to own Christians, that correct? No, not at all. Okay. But they will try to get you to speak in tongues and they practice the different gifts which many of which I believe have already ceased and they teach you can lose your salvation and obviously that makes salvation by work. So the full gospel is not correct. There’s only one gospel and that’s the message of the death of the bear in the resurrection and they teach that the gospel includes the gifts of tongues and healings and all those things and so the full gospel means you’re going to get all of those things as a part of the package.
I see. So I’ve heard you say before. Absolutely. And what is being done today is not tongues. It’s a gibberish, this done by all the world religions. The real gift was a non-formed language to reach the lost in the language that they were raised in and if you read in Acts 2 the Greek word there is dialectos. It not only means a specific language, but it means a specific dialect of that language. That was the miracle of Pentecost and also in Corinthians.
It tells us that it was to be used to communicate. It says in verse 9, except you speak by the tongue words easy to be understood. How shall it be known what is spoken? You just speak into the air. So Paul was telling them that, and then of course then they had the real gift, but they were misusing it by in the Greek church there at Corinth. It was speaking in four languages that the congregation did understand. He said, you’re just wasting every time because you’re speaking words that are not understood by the hearer and the gift of tongues was given for the opposite reason to be able to speak clearly in that person’s language so that they would hear an understanding of the gospel and become saved.
I understand. Okay, well, thank you very much. Appreciate it. You’re welcome Dave. Thank you so much and you really have to be careful nowadays because you have to ask yourself, does this… I would usually ask a church for a doctoral statement. Sometimes they have one online, but some of them are pretty bland. They don’t really tell you much. They might say, we love God and hate the devil. Well, what does that tell you? You’ve got to get something much more detailed.
If you want to see mine, it’s lots and lots of pages where we detail exactly what we believe. And you can see that on our website. When you go to Dr. Lynson’s articles on our website, look for beliefs that matter. And we list, I think, about 27 different points of doctrine that we think are essential if you’re to be a sound church to believe those doctrines. You might use that as a help to choose the church that would be best for you as a biblical sound teaching church.
Jeff in Fort Lauderdale, we look forward to talking to you now. Jeff, you’re on the air from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Good morning, Bob. Thank you. First out, I’ll command you, uh, you were speaking in regards to Lent and, uh, that it is not expounded on that. I know that his love towards us in that while we’re yet sinners Christ to make that point in regards to because he went to Ezekiel 8 and you were referenced as, how big and then He said, then do they worship me, teaching for the doctrine of the commandments of men.
For Lane aside, the commandments of God, they hold to their tradition. And verse 9 says, full will, he reject the commandments of God that he may teach your own tradition, and Lent is a tradition of men and not God given into us in Christ Jesus, but also in the detail 8, 16 you… The answer is Jesus came back from the dead on the first day of the week. Obviously, he set the New Day of worship as we commemorate his resurrection every time we worship on the first day of the week.
The second major appearance of Christ after the resurrection was on the eighth day, which is also a Sunday. Then we find that Pentecost, when the church age began on a Sunday, and as you read through the book of Acts and through the epistles of Paul, the early Christians met on the first day of the week to worship. So it started right from the very get-go. The Sabbath was given to Israel. If you’re Jewish, you probably would still want to observe the Sabbath.
But it’s not for the Gentile. And obviously, if you read Colossians 2, Jesus took the Sabbath as well as the other Old Testament laws and nailed them to his cross. And it says in verse 16, let no man therefore judge you indeed regarding the Holy Days or the New Moon or the Sabbath because that has been nailed to the cross and taken away. We’re not under the law and we’re not under the Sabbath anymore. Thank you for that call.
I appreciate that so much. We now have Gino in that Tampa, Florida. Gino, welcome to Bibleline your on the air. Yes. must be on say and I was talking to student be pastors and I’m trying to find out where in the Bible that they should be passes and why you think they should be on the hang of the lift. Thank you. Okay. Do you know it’s in 1st. Timothy 1st. Timothy 2. It says here in verse 11 let the women learn in silence with all subjection.
Verse 12 says I suffer or allow not a woman a woman to teach. They’re not to be the teachers of God’s Word. It says here, but nor do you serve authority over the man, but they are to be in silence. So here the word silence is used twice. Now, when it does talk about women teaching, if you read what it says in Titus in chapter 2, it doesn’t say anything about women teaching the Bible. It says the aged women.
They should be, of course, Teachers, it says here of good things. Verse 3 that they may teach the young women to be sober, to teach the young women to love their husbands, to teach the young women to love their children, to teach the young women to be discreet, to teach the young women to be chaste, to teach the young women to be keepers at home, to teach the young women to be good, to teach the young women to be obedient to their own husbands, and so on.
And nowhere does the the Bible ever say that women are to teach the word of God. That was the responsibility God gave to men. It gives you two good reasons here in 1 Timothy chapter 2. It says number 1 verse 13 of chapter 2 of 1 Timothy for Adam was first formed and then Eve. The second reason was that Adam was not deceived but the woman was deceived. It tells us that women in the air of spiritual things are more easily deceived than men.
Men think more factually women think more emotionally and as a result they sometimes will depart from doctrine and the Bible warns about listening to women teachers and by the way some of the cults have been founded by women. The Seventh Adventist by Ellen G. White we have the cult of the Christian scientists started by Mary Baker Eddy and so on and I really don’t know of any good sound Bible teachers today. They seem to be very flawed and you might want to just pay attention to what they’re teaching.
I want to say hi and bye you guys in Miami. Thank you for tuning in. We know that you sign off early before other stations and I wanted to to say how glad we are to be on the air down there. And if you could help us with the finances of that, we’d like to be able to get that second half hour and get the full hour in Miami. So call us, maybe you can give a gift to help Bible and continue, but we’re glad to be on there.
God bless you all. Now we’re back to our other listeners, and we have Mike in St. Petersburg and Mike. Welcome to Bibleline you on there. Hello, Mike. Mike? I don’t know where Mike is, but let’s go to Adam in Tampa. Adam is on the line. Adam, welcome to Bibleline. You know, the question goes from John, chapter 9, in verse 4, it says that we must work the works of Him who sent me while this day and night is coming when no one can work.
As long as I’m in the world and the light of the world, can you explain those verses? Well, obviously if we’re going to do any works for God, which don’t get a salvation, but actually our job of now carrying out the Great Commission and reaching the lost, we need to do it while we have opportunity. It’s basically an expression that night is coming, the day is about over, and we need to work while it’s daytime, and get the job done and get people saved.
And so basically it’s a little bit of a push here to get us moving. Don’t sleep in the daytime, but be awake in the day and do the job that God wants us to do to proclaim the gospel as we’re the light of the world in His absence. we are to spread that light by sharing the gospel of Christ with the lost. We have Gary down in Bradenton, Florida. Gary, welcome to Bible End. Good morning, Pastor Hank. Good morning.
Sir, I have a question about accident. My question is, am I missing something here? Why was the Lord out there? Isn’t that something? It’s because Moses was disobedient, and his wife didn’t want their sons circumcised. It was a bloody thing to her. And here you see Zipporah doing that right at the last second, sparing his life. I have to go to break, but we’ll talk about that when I get back. And this is Bibleline and we’re going to take a short break and come back and do a second half hour.
So keep you ready to write where it is and we’ll be right back. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. I’m Dr. Englund Sherman. It’s wonderful to be with you every day. It’s hard to believe this is already Thursday and our week has been flying by. But we’ll be back again of course live tomorrow. But I hope you’ll listen to the second half hour Bible and now as we’ll begin that in just a moment.
But we’re excited about being with you. Some of you are listening in other countries and other parts of the world. We know 154 countries have logged on to the Bibleline program. We’re excited about being able to be with you each and every day, and we hope that you will tell your friends about the program, and especially if you know missionaries or families in other countries, would you tell them about the Bibleline program, and hopefully they will enjoy the program and learn from the Bible, and we are just excited about what God is doing.
And you can of course be a part of this by financially supporting us. We are listeners supported and we don’t have any other means of support and we can only go as far as the funds that God gives to us because of the faithful giving of you the listener. And if you could help us, it would be wonderful because we really can’t do it without you. So consider that. You can call and give a gift by credit card over the phone.
You can also call and ask for an envelope to be sent with our address on it, mail your gift to Bibleline. We certainly would hope that you’ll help us out in that way. And I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and for your gifts and your expressions of love to Bibleline to keep us on the year. And again, we don’t pay any salaries, so we really, I think we’re able to do more per dollar than almost any other ministry because that’s probably a rarity because our service staff is dedicated to getting this message out through Bibleline and that’s how we’re able to do as much as we are able to.
We’re excited about finishing up the study in 1st Peter that will be finished this coming Tuesday as we’ll finish up class 9 and 10. You can get all 10 hours of teaching verse by verse in 1st Peter. If you want to order that in advance as soon as we finish the excuse will mail that out to you. It’s available now in CD and DVD. you can order our Sunday services on CV or on DVD. And you can obviously begin to use them in your home or with others by projecting them up on a big screen.
And it really makes it nice and you feel like you’re right there. With me as we teach these lessons either from the sermons or from the Bible studies that we teach and they’ll help you in your growth in God’s Word. We are going to go back to the stations that have been on break into the second half hour Bibleline. So we’re hoping you’ll keep your radio if you’re tuned right where it is and we’ll be joining the other stations now that have been on break.
And here we go with the second half hour of Bibleline. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. All right, we’re back for that break and this is Bibleline and it’s great to be with you and this is Thursday. And by the way, we’re tonight on television, on World Harvest Television, channel 367 at 630 nationwide. Anywhere on the North American continent, you’ll be able to catch the Bibleline program tonight on channel 367 World Harvest Television on DirecTV.
If you have DirecTV, you’ll be able to get us tonight. We were talking with Gary down in Bradenton, Florida, and he’s asking here about God wanting to kill Moses and that’s exactly right. We find here that the Lord stopped him as he was on his way. It says in verse 24 of Exodus 4, it came to pass that by the way in the end that the Lord met Moses and sought to killing. Zen’s a poor, that is Moses’ wife, took a sharp stone and cut off a foreskin of her son and cast it at his feet and said, Surely you’re a bloody husband to me.
So God let him go. And then she said, a bloody husband now aren’t because of the circumcision. Well obviously because of his wife Moses caved into her and would not obey the Lord in baptized rather than circumcising his son. And as a result God almost killed him for his disobedience. By the way after that apparently Moses sent Zepora back to her parents and we don’t read any other about her. Apparently that’s the end of that story, but apparently she was not a very spiritual woman and did not believe the scriptures and would not allow Moses to circumcise his son.
And so you have there quite an interesting story for sure. And Gary, I hope that answers the question for you. Yes, sir. Thank you very much. You’re very welcome. And that was Gary down in Bradenton, Florida. We’re now going to to Dave in Albany, New York. And Dave’s sorry that you had to wait so long to get on the air. You’ve been very patient. But welcome to the Bible and program. Good morning, Dr. Hank. How are you doing? Good.
I have a question. I’ve been pondered. Mike, I’m going to try to ask this question a long time. But knowing the lessons that I think that God has given us from the garden to the present time. Wouldn’t it serve as the ultimate mockery of our God by the devil to have Hillary Clinton in essence use her authority on the grandest platform of the world and then seem to invite the enemy to the demons to think that we started with this vessel.
and we can certainly use what’s been tried and tested to have worked out to work in our favor. So, and then not to make sure that we’re not going to be able to do that. And then not to mention the physical devils on Earth waiting for the infidels to show their weakest point, weakest spiritual point so that they can attack us on the principle that we’re weak or right for the taken. Well, what is interesting here, Dave, is that the Bible says that the Bible says that the The Bible said in the last days that things would get turned around and we are seeing that happen here where the Bible tells us that in the last days, let me just read this to you in verse 11, whoa, or judgment under the wicked, it shall be ill with him for the reward of his hand shall be given him.
Now verse 12 of Isaiah 3, this is talking about the last days. As for my people, children are their oppressors and women rule over them. This is part of the course and that’s exactly the kind of direction we’re headed where the structure of the home and the structure of leadership where God created Adam first and then Eve has all been turned around. And now the woman is to be the ruler and that’s the topsy-turvy world that we’re living in today.
And certainly I’m saying we have to be in the last days because we’re seeing that happen. And Dave, we sure thank you for that call. That’s exactly right. That’s what’s happening. We now have Roland in Tampa, Florida. Roland, welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Hello, Roland. Yes. Roland, you’re on the air. Okay. Thank you for taking my call, sir. I appreciate that. My question is with the old customet laws and ordinances, and I suppose you test the methods.
I basically wanted to know which one of the laws and ordinances carried over and the new testament, you know, because often here pastors, you’re choosing pick which one is supposed to be practiced today. You know, Well, they were all nailed to the cross. Jesus Christ died and he took all of the Old Testament laws from Moses, from Mount Sinai, and nailed them to the cross. I think we mentioned this a minute ago in Colossians, which is a great passage.
It tells us there that Jesus, when he died on the cross, took the law, the ordinances that were all against us, and that nailed them to his cross and took them out of the way. And therefore, we’re not to be judged in regard to those laws today, and that we are under grace. That is a meter where to be lawbreakers, but we are to fulfill the law of love, which The law of love summarizes all the Old Testament law and that if you love the Lord and if you love your neighbor, as the Bible says, you’re not going to steal from your neighbor, you’re not going to murder your neighbor, you’re not going to, why are you a neighbor, you’re not going to defraud your neighbor, you will obviously be a law abiding citizen, but we’re not under the Old Testament laws.
And of course, one of those that keeps coming up is the Sabbath, which was never given to us, the Gentiles, but it says here in Colossians 2.14, blotting out the handwriting of ordinances or laws that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross. And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly tripping over them in it, let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of it Holy Day or the New Moon or the Sabbath.
All of those were nailed across and they’re gone. So that’s where we are rolling. They’re all gone. All right. Thank you. And the Sabbath keepers obviously get hung up on that one and we’re not under the law to keep the Sabbath. And if you did, if you were in the Old Testament law. They only take the parts that they want. If you did any kind of work at all on the Sabbath, from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown, the penalty was death.
In Numbers 15 you read about a man who went out and picked up sticks on the Sabbath and they caught him doing that and they brought him to Moses and what did they do? They stoned him to death. Let’s just say that you’re raking up your yard on Saturday. If you were under the Old Testament law, your neighbor has pointed that out. They would have to bring stones and kill you right there in your yard, stoning you to death for breaking the Sabbath.
If you want to be under the Sabbath, you better follow it very carefully because if you were living in the Old Testament time, you would have been stoned to death. The penalty would be death if you broke it. I don’t know if anybody has ever really kept the Sabbath perfectly like that. And so you would be in deep trouble with God if that were a requirement for salvation for sure. We are now going to go to Floyd in Lansing, Michigan and Floyd, welcome to Bibleline you are on the end.
How are you doing, Bob? This is Floyd. I’ll call it called, I believe his name was Dave. I think he was asking the question why it was Dave. No man could work quite as a night. And my understanding. at night, no man can work because you’re gone, your dead. And that’s the understanding that I have. And you know I listen to you pretty much every day, but you know there’s You know, there are some things that I don’t agree with, but what I like to see is that everybody, you know, the body of Christ, you know, in the same case, because I feel that a lot of people that call in, sometimes they leave your program confused.
Like, for instance, I was listening one day and I think you made a comment as far as you give your life to God, you know, you can make it into heaven, but you can live pretty much to say where. way, but you won’t have any crowns. And more than that, God is going to thank you and your life might be severely shortened. You might, you know, God just about took 15 years off the life of Hezekiah. If you read 1 Corinthians chapter 10, God took 23,000 Christians home in one day.
Their life got severely shortened. So if you don’t want to have a happy life, then disobey God and live as you please after your saved. And God will thank you and make your life miserable. And he might dis yank you out of here, which the Bible is full of illustrations and where God did that. First Corinthians 5-1, here’s a man deciding to live in adultery or fordication with his stepmother. God says, let Satan kill him. But yet his spirit would be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
And in the essence of fire, in Acts chapter 5, lied about their giving. God killed them both on the spot. They were saved and they went to heaven, but they got their life cut short and I’m sure they’ll be ashamed for for what they did and suffered the loss of reward for eternity. And the Bible is full of illustrations of people that God took out of here before their time. I’ve buried a lot of people in their 20s and early 30s that were Christians but would not obey the Lord and did not live as they should have.
And I believe God took them out of here. And they died very young. It’s just it was a tragedy to have to do their service know that they were taken out and some of them knew that that was why they were dying. That’s why they died and they were out of here. And so in other words, you can’t live as you please. You cannot lose your salvation, but you can lose your joy. You can lose your effectiveness. You can lose your testimony.
You can lose your power. You can lose your rewards. You can even lose your life, but you can’t lose your salvation. So that means everybody will say that. Not everybody only knows that a trusted Christ is Savior. But if you read Hebrews 12, and here’s a good one for you, it says for whom the Lord loves verse 6 of Hebrews 12, the Lord chases and scourges every son whom he receives. So if you get saved, guess what? God’s going to interfere in your life.
And it says in verse 8, if you be without God’s discipline, where of all of his children are partakers, it says you’re a bastard and not a son. So if you’re living as you please and you’re getting away with it, you’re not saved. If you’re genuinely saved, you cannot live as you please. God is going to be all over your case. And I hear it all the time from, I need a lot of people to Christ. And brand new believers especially come to me and say, look, everything in my life was going smooth till I got saved.
What’s going on? And I tell them, well now God is your father for the first time and you’re his child for the first time and he’s not going to let you live the link with without spanking you. So yeah, he’s going to be all over you till you get your life straightened out. And so if you want to be miserable and you want to maybe go to heaven soon and you plan on it, go ahead and live as you please.
But God is not going to let you get away with it. So Hebrews 12 8 says, if you be without God’s discipline upon your life, it’s because you’re a bastard and you’re illegitimate and claiming to be saved when you’re not. If you’re really saved, you’re not going to get away with it. I remember saying when I got saved that I would never serve the Lord, but I would take him up on his free gift. Well, a little did I realize that next year, God would really work on me.
He brought me to my knees in my dorm room at University of Florida. Nobody of you knew I was saved. But I said, Lord, I’m not going to fight you anymore. I’m going to choose to serve you. And I chose to serve you. And I’d been serving you never since. But the Lord got ahold of me. And the Lord brought me to a place where I dedicated my life. But I knew that if I lived my life as it was going, God would probably take me home to heaven early.
And so I chose not to do that. choices there as a believer to now become a servant of his and to enjoy the blessings that come by living for Christ or have got all over your case as a parent would have to this important delinquent child and then take you over here. So women what God calls us to do is not the word that’s giving it to heaven. Just giving your life to God. This is going to be an obedient and living life.
The God is living. Leave signs and wonders because I’m going to 5 or 5 minutes before I get to. It’s a free gift to. Now we could talk about the law back in the day. We could talk about the law. Well, I don’t see any, but I’ve never met a person yet that’s spoken tongues. I met a lot of people that spoke in gibberish and that’s done by all the world religions. But the real gift is just not happening today.
And if it were happening, I would be delighted. But I offer the offer to you too. Let’s go to them all together and I’ll get a crowd together. And if you want to address them in tongues, it should lead to revival because it was assigned to unbelievers. But I’ve never had a person take me up on that yet. They don’t want to use it in public with the loss because they don’t have a loss, don’t respond well to it.
But the greater miracles that we can do today the bringing of a new birth to a lost person. The healing ministry of Christ was just to show that he was the Messiah and followed only for a few years after he departed. Even if you healed a person’s leg or arm, they would still go to hell unless you bought them the new birth by trusting Christ and Savior. The greater miracle is that we bring a dead person back to life.
We give them eternal life when they trust Christ as their Savior. That great miracle happens every time we lead a lost soul to Christ. That’s what we have to do to be saved. I know you’ve noticed several times you talked about giving your life to God to be saved. That, of course, is not the gospel. If that’s a part of what you call the full gospel, it certainly is not true. The gospel is not that we give anything. It’s that God gave his son and that we received him by faith.
Just say that we must give anything to God turns the plan of salvation around 180 degrees. God is the giver always and we’re the receivers. John 3 16 for God’s soul of the world, he gave. John 1 12 to as many as received Christ, to them God gave the authority for them to become the sons of God. Romans 623, the gift of God is eternal life. It’s God’s gift and he’s the giver. So we don’t give our hearts or our lives to God to be saved.
If you’re doing that to be saved, you won’t be saved because you’re making God the receiver and us the givers, where God is the giver and we’re the receivers and that is 180 degrees out of phase of the Bible. It’s absolutely the exact opposite of what the Bible teaches. The Bible teaches that we We were lost, condemned and could do nothing to save ourselves, and God gave salvation through giving his son that whosoever would believe or trust Christ and receive Christ in that way would be saved and saved eternally.
I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom, and it’s great to be with you today. This Thursday is of course our television day, and we’ll be on the air at 6.30 to 9 Eastern time all over the whole North American continent on DirecTV channel 3, 6, 7. So I hope you’ll tune that in. It’s on people writing me from everywhere who are catching our programs on the Internet. You’ll want to check out our website Bibleline Ministries because it’s reaching out all over the continent. We now have Geno, I believe you called earlier, and Geno, welcome back to Babylon, you are on the air. Yes, I listen to you every day myself like the last caller, and I think a lot of people when they listen to you, because they’ve lived their life so many years, 20 or 30 years in the church that have this belief, they don’t want to change.
He’s a person like you and you both biblically tell them to look at it because we’ve been looking at a sculpture so long and interpreted it this way but we missed certain connotations or the way it’s worded and we’ve listened to a passage of a poem and not really looked at it ourselves. go and look at it and you say, oh, he’s right. The proclamation is right. We don’t, it’s kind of hard to change. So I think that’s where the last caller was saying, you know, he believed this, but if you look at it and really studies it and stuff like that, here find out basically how this would be you.
It’s even a true New York telling, the truth, but it’s so hard at the 30, 40 years, 25 years, the challenge, but you did it, because obviously you feel that you believe the certain ones that say you went and studied it and yourself. And that’s what we want to say. And I think that you know you’re, you’re, that’s what you said really to actually have us to look at our stuff and change our mind because it says it in the Bible.
And I don’t know if I want to say thank you. Thank you, Gina. We appreciate it so much. You know, the healing is gone too. It’s not happening. If they could really heal, why don’t the healers, when they come to town, go to the hospital and go four by four room by room and just empty it out. Wouldn’t that be incredible? Wow, we’ve got hospitals that are crowded. They put people in the hallway until they can get a room for them.
Wouldn’t it be great if they just emptied the place out for a while? That’d be great. Did the hospital staff a break? Just heal everybody. They can’t. They can’t. We had a lady here in our church against her son’s advice, went to the Benny Henn meeting when he came here to the area. And she fell back, this so-called slain in the spirit experience, which is not difficult. And she hit her arm on the seat and broke it between the shoulder and the elbow.
And she’s still living with difficulty and pain. And she screamed out and they told her to shut up and they dragged her out of the meeting. If I was there, I would have taken her forward. I would have said, Benny, and you broke her arm. You need to heal it. But they don’t tell you all these stories about the people that get hurt. I have another man in our church who has permanent back injuries from falling, being slain in the spirit, and he laid quietly on the floor.
They told him to just be patient because they had insurance. Well, does that sound like the ability to heal? I don’t think so. And I used to chase those meetings to try to see if there was any real healing going on. I never saw any, and I saw the very opposite taking place. And people get injured. They get hurt, and they even die. you don’t read about that or hear about that because they’re only going to tell you the stories of success.
I’ve never seen any and if you can heal, come over to my church. I have several blind people born blind from birth and if you could give them sight, boy, I’ll be on your ticket and I’ll be under your ministry. You’re not going to be able to do it. Well, Thank you for that call, Gina. I sure appreciate it. We hope that everyone of you that are listening will listen every day. You need to be careful that you read what the Bible says and not just think whatever you see out there is being true because somebody says it.
I invite you to check me out because the Bible is the authority, not me. The Bible is very plain that there were some gifts that were temporary in nature and they have all ceased. One of those gifts was drinking a deadly poison and I’m being hurt. I don’t see anybody doing that today. Another was to take deadly serpents and not be hurt by them. That doesn’t happen today. I read about some people who try it and they die every now and then.
That’s always every year you get somebody you read that hails a deadly snake and dies. But the Bible says that if you had that gift, you wouldn’t even die. Raising the dead. I haven’t seen anybody raising the dead here lately. yet the gift of healing included raising the dead and missing replacing missing flesh i’ve never seen anybody go on stage yet with one leg in coming off of two uh… that happened but the bill of the of the love for the replacing of missing flesh and uh…
just not have any day the modern gift i think is a hoax and people are being deceived and they want to believe that and uh… it’s amazing uh… that people are not really willing to believe what God’s word says and it’s pretty plain I think in any case I’m not trying to answer my hope you’ve trusted Jesus as your savior that’s the most important decision I’ve ever made can you not say by giving your heart giving your life He said, give anything to the Lord.
That seems to be so strange when you think about people talking about giving your hearts to Christ. Do they have big storage vats in heaven where there’s full of hearts that people have given to Jesus? That’s not even, you know, doesn’t make any sense. We’re not to give anything to be saved. We’re to trust in what God did for us as He gave His Son. When you trust Christ as your Savior that He died and shed His blood to pay for your sin at the cross with buried and risen.
again from the dead God saves you and he saves you eternally. And of course that is the most important decision you’ll ever make. We have Joanne in Gloversville, New York. She leaves this off her question. My brother-in-law died recently and was cremated. Can he still go to heaven? Obviously, yes. Cremation has nothing to do with your salvation. In fact, if he was a believer, he would be absent from the body, present with the Lord before anybody could get their hands on his body.
The cremality was already in the presence of the Lord. Can people on TV and other mediums really communicate with the dead? No, they cannot. They communicate with Satan’s angels which impersonate the dead but no they cannot. That is an impossibility. So Joanne, there’s a great question and thank you for tuning in up there in Gloversville, New York. We’re going to have to run. We’re out of time. But again, Bible and is less than supported.
