We’re going to open our Bibles today to the book of Genesis and we find that right at the very beginning the first two individuals were Cain and Abel born to Adam and Eve. And Cain and Abel both were told about how to be saved. And both were told about bringing a sacrifice to worship the Lord. And both were told where to bring that sacrifice. And both were told what sacrifice that they were to bring. And so we’re going to turn to Genesis chapter 4 and take a look at that and I hope you will turn with me in your Bibles.

In Genesis chapter 4 and verse 1, this is Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived and bear Cain and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. Actually, she thought that Cain the firstborn was the Messiah. They had been promised in Genesis 3.15 that the seed of the woman would be the one that would defeat Satan and be the Savior. And so she thought her firstborn son was actually that Messiah. In fact, it reads better if you read it.

And the marginal reading here in my Bible says, I have gotten a man even Jehovah. So she thought this was the God man, God who would take on human flesh, the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Isn’t it interesting that we have passages right from the get-go of the Bible that talk about Jesus and hear Eve thought that her firstborn child, Cain, was that Messiah? Well, she was sadly mistaken and that is unfortunate. But Abel was the second child and by the way, they were both twins.

There’s only one conception mentioned here and yet two boys were brought into the world. So Cain and Abel were twins and they both came into the world at the same time. They were the first two humans born into the human race and we find it says in verse two that again she bears a little bit of a Both twins. There’s only one conception mentioned here, and yet two boys were brought into the world. So Cain and Abel were twins, and they both came into the world at the same time.

They were the first two humans born into the human race. And we find it says in verse 2 that again she bears his… his brother Abel. Abel was a keeper of the sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in the process of time, it came to pass that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground and offering unto the Lord. So here we find that Cain brings perhaps a sacrifice of the fruit of the ground that he had killed and grown with his own hands, and it probably was required a lot of work.

It probably was a beautiful sacrifice. You probably put a lot of effort into it and he brought it before the Lord at a particular appointed place where they were to offer up a sacrifice. And Abel, he also brought of the first things of his flock and of the fat thereof, and the Lord had respect and to Abel and to his offering, But under Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very rough and his countenance fell.

It’s interesting that here were two boys twins and yet they brought two totally different sacrifices and we really find out that they were obviously the opposite of one another. Cain was not bringing the sacrifice that he should have. It tells us in Hebrews 11-4, by faith, Abel brought a more excellent sacrifice than that of Cain. Now let me just pause for a moment because the Bible tells us something really wonderful in Romans 10 in verse 17. In Romans 10-17 it says, Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

So obviously it’s telling us when it says, by faith able brought a more excellent sacrifice than that of Cain, that actually he brought a sacrifice as prescribed by God as to what he had heard. In other words, faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. So he had heard the Word of God as to what was required. And by faith, trusting that God was, that he should obey God’s Word, He brought the sacrifice that God had instructed him to bring.

But Cain, according to the Bible, actually brought a sacrifice of his own will and of his own design. And actually, this is a picture of religion. Cain brought a sacrifice of works as sacrifice that was not the proper sacrifice and one that would not please God and a sacrifice that was rejected by God. Apparently in Old Testament times, God would answer the sacrifice that He would receive it or replace with it by bringing fire down from heaven upon the sacrifice.

We see that with the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal. Here, remember how that he challenged them. They built two altars and they put their bullets on their altar and they cried all day and they asked for their gods to answer by fire. And nothing ever happened. And finally, of course, at the end of the day Elijah cried out and God brought down fire from heaven and it burned up the sacrifice and the altar. And of course, he had had him pour water on the sacrifice on top of it and it burned up all the water and the trenches and around the sacrifice.

Basically everybody knew that the God of Elijah was the true living God and the prophets of Baal were defeated and killed that day. And by the way I have stood right there where Elijah used to roam the mountains of Carmel there in Israel. And you can look down over into the valley and see the brook Kishran where they slew the prophets of Baal. And there is a huge statue today of Elijah with the sword in his hand as he came after those prophets of Baal and they killed him after that great victory that God gave him on that particular day.

Well, I envision that God brought fire down from out of heaven and devoured the sacrifice of Abel. And so it was clear that the sacrifice that Abel offered was received by God, but the sacrifice that Cain brought just sat there and was rejected. And as a result, Cain became very angry, became very mad. And he was angry at his brother Abel, and we know that as a result, he killed his own brother. Later in the New Testament we find that tells us that Cain was of that wicked one.

And so Satan used Cain to kill Abel, which was probably the one through whom the Messiah would come. He wasn’t the Messiah and Cain wasn’t the Messiah, but Jesus would come one day of that lineage that would come from Adam and Eve. And so God replaced Abel with another child named Seth and Seth is the one that you’ll find in the lineage of the Messiah. And when Jesus came, he was related all the way back to Adam through that son called Seth.

But what is interesting here is that Abel was not saved by bringing that sacrifice. If you read Hebrews 11, we have a lot of insight into this wonderful story and it tells us in Hebrews 11 verse 4 by faith, that means, and as we said before in Romans 10 17, faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. And so we find here that Abel listened to what God had to say. He brought the proper sacrifice that would be pleasing to God, and it says he brought a more excellent sacrifice to that of Cain, because it was the proper sacrifice, it was the one that God had instructed both of them to bring.

Cain should have brought a lamb also, but he did not. And it says here, it’s interesting, and I love this in Hebrews chapter 11, verse 4, it says, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous. Abel was already saved when he brought that sacrifice. the sacrifice did not save him, but it was a testimony as to Abel’s faith and how Abel was saved. That lamb that he offered was a picture of the lamb of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, that would later come and die upon the hill of Calvary, on the cross of Calvary, dying and shedding his blood to pay for your sins and mine.

An able believed in that future Savior, even as we just said a moment ago, that Eve thought her firstborn son, Cain, was the Messiah, the God-man, but she was mistaken, obviously, but the Messiah one day would come, and that able believed in that Savior, and that He brought a lamb as a picture of how salvation would be brought about, and that would be by the slaying of a lamb and the shedding of its blood. Look at the verse in Hebrews 11, it says, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous.

Now, in the Bible it’s very important to recognize that only believers are called righteous. If you read Romans 3-10, it says, as it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. Every one of us have sinned, every one of us have come short of the glory of God. And so the Bible tells us that everyone has come short of God’s glory and everyone is wicked in God’s sight. But yet when we trust Jesus Christ as our Savior, the very righteousness of God is credited to our account.

And so God looks down upon the believer and sees us as absolutely righteous. In fact, as righteous as God. Can you imagine? 2 Corinthians 5, 21 tells us that God made Christ to be sin for us, Christ who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Wow! God took our sins and laid them upon Jesus Christ. He died and paid for them by His death and shed blood, and when we trust that He did that for us, God credits our account with His very own righteousness.

And here right from the get-go we have Abel described as a righteous man. He was already righteous when he brought the sacrifice. He was righteous because of his faith in the coming Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. And when he offered up that sacrifice, he was giving a testimony as to what he believed. Did he believe that there would be a lamb slain one day? That would be the Lord Jesus Christ. the Lamb of God. You know when John the Baptist saw Jesus for the first time, he said, Behold the Lamb of God which takeeth away the sin of the world.

Wow! What an encounter that must have been as John and Jesus encounter each other and John recognizes this is God’s Lamb. And he had come into the world for the very purpose of dying. What is interesting is that there’s been a new tablet found now, a three-foot stone, called the Gabriel revelation that is dated back a hundred years before Christ. And on that stone it says that the people of that time apparently believed in a Savior, a Messiah that would suffer and die, and after three days come back again from the dead.

That was in the Heretz newspaper in Israel last week, a major newspaper, and it’s got a lot of people buzz in Israel saying to themselves, should we be looking for a Messiah that would actually die and come back again from the den? I think God is getting Israel ready to come to know Jesus as Savior, and that many Jews are going to come to know Christ after the Rapture. And these archaeological discoveries are causing them to turn their head and reexamine this whole thing about Jesus Christ.

You know, the Old Testament told that he would be crucified, told that he would be buried, told that he would rise again from the dead after three days, and here this important stone now called the Gabriel Revelation talks about Jesus dying, about the Messiah dying, coming back from the dead after three days, and Jewish people in Israel now are buzzing in their conversations about is this the belief system before Jesus came and it was and apparently it’s shocking a lot of people.

Well Abel obviously believed in that sacrifice and you cannot be saved apart from the blood sacrifice and the blood was a mainstream theme that goes through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Even when we get to the book of Revelation, it says in Revelation 1-5, on the hymn that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood. The Bible is the book of the blood and it’s the blood of the Lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ that was shed to pay for the sins of the world.

And when you trust on Him that He is that Savior who died and shed his blood for you, God would save you, and he washes you of your sin. He’d become saved, you’d become his, and you’d be assured of going to heaven. What a great story! And this is what the Bible has to say. I hope you’ve trusted Christ. If you haven’t, just tell the Lord, Lord, I’m a sinner, but I trust Jesus Christ right now as my only means of reaching heaven.

I believe he is death in his shed blood, purchased my salvation. I believe he was buried and rose again from the dead and I trust him right now to save me. In the moment you do God will save you. I’m Dr. Ankerine Flintstrom. This is the Bible and we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida. We’re going to now go to the phone lines and we have a call from Massachusetts, from North Adams, Massachusetts where we’re on the air every day, twice a day, and we have Karen on the line and Karen, welcome to Bibleline you are on the air.

Hi, Dr. Hank. Yeah, Karen. Hi, how are you this morning? Good. First of all, I want to thank you for the work you’re doing in God’s Kingdom. Your show has been a blessing. You’re welcome. My question is, I actually have a troubled spirit here. My fiance and I have two acquaintances of ours that are going to be getting married. We’ve witnessed to these people, and I truly believe that they’re not saved. Now what’s troubling me is the fact, I mean should we support this wedding, my fiance could possibly be asked to be best man.

You know, which this girl had called me up and invited us to the wedding and she said, well, her soon to be husband should be calling my fiance to ask him to be best man. Now I’ve been going over this in my mind and in my heart that I wouldn’t be going to a wedding with two gay people getting married. And I do understand that when two people get married and there’s a believer and an unbeliever, the unbeliever is sanctified by the believer.

And I also know that besides our salvation, Dr. Hank, I married just the most precious gift that God has given us to further his kingdom. My troubled spirit, I guess my question to you is what’s your take on this? I mean should we support people that are not believers of God which is, you know, that’s the covenant that you make. I agree. This is obviously something that could break your heart because they need to know that and all you can do is do your best to try to share with them and express your thoughts but I don’t think you have to cut them off or you have to cut yourself off from everybody in the world and there’s always that opportunity that maybe they will come to know the Lord of Savior.

I know that sometimes… When that first child comes along, they begin to rethink everything and maybe that’s another opportunity. I think if you just are honest with them, we really believe that you need to know the Lord. That’s what really if you’re going to have a Christian ceremony, what it’s all about because it’s between God and them. Otherwise they might as well not have at least a religious ceremony because if they don’t accept the Lord as their Savior, there might be something you can confront them with in a way to get them to think.

But I think I wouldn’t cut off their friendship, but I would just let them know that where you stand that your heart desires that they would come to know the Lord and that their marriage could be all that it was intended to be as God is the one that invented marriage and created us. And he’s the one to put Adam and Eve together and obviously if they don’t know the one who created them They’re never gonna have the fulfillment that God had desired for them We previously witnessed these people.

Yeah, you know, that’s the problem that I’m having I Understand well obviously we can only do the best we can and pray that that and your continued witness and and in love Sharing with them the truth It might be something that will take place later, but it would be great if it happened before they got married. Okay, thank you very much. All right, we’ll be praying for you. That’s a tough one. And obviously, you don’t want to pitch them out of your life, but you want to get them saved.

And obviously, only the saved can really have that real intimate relationship with another believer because they alone are members of the family of God. We now have Annie down in Miami, Florida, and welcome to Bibleline Your On The Air. on your own ear. Good morning, Pastor. How are you? Good. Good morning. Yes. I have a question as it relates to the personality of that, when it comes to speaking of God is a living God in our various Old Testament scriptures.

And so there’s a passage that relates to Christ as the son of the living God. And I know a lot of Old Testament scriptures also speak to him in the form of a person. And since we know that God is, we just want you to give me some clarity, what it means when we say, run up the living God. And as you give me this answer pastor, I will hang up and listen to you. That’s fine. Yes, sure is, Annie.

Thank you so much. And that’s Annie down in Miami. Actually the word Christ comes from the Greek word Christos and means the Messiah, the equivalent to the Hebrew word for Messiah and it means the anointed one, the promised one that the Prophet said would come that would become our Savior. And when we call Jesus the Son of the living God, we’re talking about the second member of the eternal Godhead. You know there is God the eternal Father, God the eternal Son, God the eternal Holy Spirit.

And we really see all three members of the Godhead in action right from the very get-go of the Bible. Genesis 1 1 it says in the beginning God and the Hebrew word for God is Elohim which is a plural word in the Hebrew for the office of God and plural in Hebrew is three or more. So here you have the Trinity, the triune Godhead acting in concert in unity in creating the universe. Then you have the Holy Spirit in verse 2 and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

26 again you had the plurality and God Elohim said let us make man in our image after our likeness. It’s all plural because the Hebrew is plural and so all three members of the Godhead, the father of the son and the Holy Spirit, all were involved in the creation of man as well as the universe. And of course it was God who took on flesh the second eternal member that actually revealed himself to man and came and took on human flesh and went to the cross of Calvary and they had died to pay for our sins by his death and shed blood.

And of course when we get to heaven we are going to see that second member of the God Head, the one who will forever be seen in a human body, the same body that he took on and went to the cross with. And we will see those nail pints in his hands and his feet and be reminded of his love for us forever and ever and ever. Hope that helps a little bit. And no doubt in Genesis, rather in Daniel chapter 3, you notice in verse 25 that when the three men were cast into the burning fiery furnace, Nebuchadnezzar said there’s a fourth one in there, like unto the Son of God.

Jesus was in the burning fiery furnace with Shadrach, Meshach had a bed to go and deliver them out of the fire. And of course, he’s with every believer and will never ever wind up in hell. And that’s the picture given to us there in Daniel chapter 3. I’m Dr. Anglister and this is Bibleline and again it’s great to be with you. Again I want to remind you that we are listeners supported. We need your help to be able to maintain these programs in your area and if you could give a gift to Bibleline it would be so appreciated.

Would you call and maybe give one by credit card over the phone or would you call and ask for an envelope to be sent so that you could mail a gift in to Bibleline or would you go to our online bookstore at BibleLineMinistries.org and there there’s a place for you to be able to give to Bibleline. We’re going to take a break and come back and do a second half hour Bibleline so we hope that you’ll keep your radio tune right where it is.

This is Monday. It’s great to be with you. We’ll be with you all week long and I hope you’ll tell your friends about the program and about the website and we’re going to take a short break and we’re going to come right back and we’ll do a second half hour. I’m Dr. Ang Lister. Don’t go away. I’m going to be right back. Go away Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well, I’m Dr.

England. It’s great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning into the broadcast. We appreciate each and every one of you who listen. And we’re excited about being able to be with you and be able to talk to you. We get so many wonderful notes and letters and calls from people that tell us how much Bibleline means to them. And we’re just humbled by that because what we’re trying to do is really just proclaim God’s Word and to give straight answers and clear answers and answers that will come right for the Bible.

So these are answers you can identify with and use not only for your own personal assurance and growth but also to share them with those that are lost in your family, among your friends. These are great days of opportunity to evangelize. Look at what’s happening around us in the world. It’s a scary world right now. And no doubt everybody’s experiencing that. The Bible says, when these things begin to come to pass, then lift up your heads and look up because your redemption draws nigh.

These are days I think which the Bible has spoken about when Christ is going to return. We don’t set a date, but we know He’s coming soon. And it’s a great time to do something significant for God. One thing you can do is you can help Bibleline. We believe that as you invest in Bibleline, that you’re going to share equally with whatever rewards we’re going to have for doing the Bibleline program. And we’re just so glad that we’re reaching out all over the country and actually through the internet all over the world to a 158 countries so far.

And your gifts and your prayers are so appreciated. I want to thank everyone who has given and praised for us. God bless you. We can sense the power of God upon the ministry because of the prayers of God’s people as they support us in prayer every day. And also for those who give, you’re enabling us to pay those radio bills, which keep us on the air. We don’t pay any salaries. I don’t get a salary. all the monies are able to be funneled in such a way that we get the maximum use of the funds you send in.

So I think you’re going to get a great return on your investment with Bible and you probably would with any of the ministry because this is a ministry where we’re our staff. We have two men answering the calls right now and they’re both volunteers. They’re here because they want to be, not because they’re paid to be and it really makes it, it enables us to reach out further than we could normally do if we had to pay everybody a salary that was helping us with the Bibleline program.

We had to take and rejoin the stations now that have been on break and come back into a second half hour. So I hope you’ll stay with me for the second half hour of Bibleline and we’re going to begin that second half hour right now. So hold on. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back from that break.

And this is Bibleline. It’s great to be with you. This is Monday. And we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida. from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church, where I’m the pastor, and it’s so exciting to be living in these days. And it’s kind of scary if you don’t know the Lord, my goodness, major banks failing. You know, these are the kind of statements that are really things that were happening just before the 1929 crash, and everybody was saying, don’t worry, don’t worry.

And we’ve got a lot to worry about, and if you’re not a believer, But if you’re a believer, it tells us Jesus is coming soon. He is coming right around the corner. And you know at the same time, the Bible says that God would raise up the standard. And we’re seeing archaeological finds that are just phenomenal. I think this latest one that was talked about last week, the Gabriel Revelation, this three-foot stone that was discovered that is about three foot high and has on it the story of the belief system of the Jews of the time a hundred years before Christ that they believed that a Messiah would come and suffer and die and come back again three days later.

Wow, that’s exactly what the Old Testament had proclaimed and certainly if you read the New Testament, it tells us that Jesus died according to the Scriptures, and he was buried, and he rose again according to the Scriptures after three days. So the death of the Battle of the Resurrection of Christ is all there in the Old Testament. It’s no surprise, except that this information is coming out right now at a critical time When I believe that Jesus is about ready to end the church age and snatch us out at the rapture and then we know that millions of Jews are going to come to know Christ.

And according to the Heretz newspaper in Israel last week, this discovery is causing Jews all over Israel to ask the question, should we be looking for a Messiah that would die and suffer and then come back from the dead after three days? I believe this will be a turning of the head of the many Jewish people in the state of Israel and around the world to come to know Jesus as their Savior. These are exciting days and I’m excited about being a part of living in these days and this is a great time for evangelism.

Everybody you talk to is going to have some concerns about the future, about our price of gas at the pump about the stability of our banks and our investments in this country and about the threat of nuclear war and terrorism and the many, many other problems that are facing our world food shortages and incurable diseases and all the weather things that are happening and we’ve seen so much this year across our country in the way of tornadoes and floods and fires and wow and I don’t think there’s an accident there.

I think it’s a part of the end times and we’re going to see more of that as time goes along. I sure hope that you know the Lord is your Savior. If you’ve never trusted Christ, would you do it right now? Would you just tell the Lord Lord, I’m a sinner. I don’t understand much, but I trust Jesus right now as my Savior, trusting that his death and shed blood purchased my salvation on the cross of Calvary and that he was buried in Roseigan from the dead.

I trust him right now to forgive my sin, to give me the gift of everlasting life. And my friend, the moment you trust him, you become his forever. You receive the gift of eternal life. You can be absolutely assured of going to heaven. and God says you can know it and he’s not going to change his mind. Jesus said I will never leave you. That means from the moment you trust Christ as your Savior that Jesus will never leave you.

That means there’s never going to be a second, not one second in your life, that you’re ever going to be alone. Jesus will be right there with you through whatever experience you’re going through. What a great comfort that is to know. We now have Pat and Midlothian Virginia. And we’re going to go to Virginia right now and talk to Pat. So Pat, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Hi, Pastor Hank. How are you? Good. That’s good. I want your opinion on Pastor John Piper.

Have you ever heard of him? I have and I believe he’s a Calvinist and that oh yeah, basically Calvinist believes that God has already picked out who’s gonna be saved and Who won’t and that troubles me but of course if you Believe in Calvinism. We believe that salvation is not based upon our works because obviously it’s based upon God’s choice But I believe really the they get it backwards because I believe God gives us a choice in his sovereignty to choose the Savior And I think that’s what John 3 16 is saying that God’s love the world That’s the whole human race that he gave his only begotten son the Lord Jesus Christ that who’s so ever that any of us We can choose to trust him and if we do we’ll not perish because Christ perished in our place But we’ll have everlasting life

So otherwise he’s a good Bible teacher and I think I’d probably agree with most everything he would say but I’m I’m not And not into that Calvinism I believe his deal Moody said it the Whosoever wills are the elect and the Whosoever won’t so the non-elect So if you’re a Whosoever will if you choose to trust Christ then you’re saved and if you don’t trust Christ and your loss That’s what I thought. Alright, well thank you so much. Alright Pat.

You have a blessed day. You too, no, take care. We’re now going to go to Tampa, Florida and we have Glen in Tampa and Glen, welcome to Bible Inn. Oh, hello, Hank. I wanted to first of all say God blesses you and your family and your congregation. What a lovely man you are. I mean, I went to prison 15 years ago. I’ve been working with God. I fell down, but I’m back up for a couple of years now. And when I was in there, I seemed to prove, formed a lot of stuff that I’d never had a teacher or anything.

I’ve been doing everything on my own. Now I’m back in the church, but I just wanted to tell you, I love you a lot, and God bless you. But a one little question. What is to get to know the Holy Spirit better and all the God loving relationship? Because I know he’s God, he’s God also, but I don’t spend any time with him really. Or Jesus, I mean I thank him a lot and all but you know what I’m saying?

Yes. Well the basic thing is that pray without ceasing has to do with you being, I think keeping the phone line on open, you know, when you make a phone call to somebody and you hang up, you disconnect, but you can just keep that line open and not hang up and that’s the way it is with God. That’s when you may not actually be saying anything, but yet you’re very conscious and aware of the fact that God is there present with you and that He’s there watching over you and whenever you should decide to say something or call upon Him, He’s there right there to answer.

And so I think prayering without ceasing is to have a constant attitude of God is right there beside me and I can just keep that line open and talk to him any time I want. Now he talks to us through the Bible. So if you want to know more about the Lord and to know him and more about him in an intimate way, you’re going to have to know the Scriptures. So you have to keep reading your Bible. The Holy Spirit is the author of scripture.

So the way you come to know the Holy Spirit of the Bible is by reading the scriptures which tell us about the God ahead and about the person of Christ. And to have fellowship with Him, you have to be going in the same direction as God. You know, fellowship has to do with being in agreement with God and living your life in agreement with God. Amos chapter 3 verse 2 in the Old Testament says, How can two walk together except they be in agreement and what a great statement that is and so how in the world can you walk with God and there were several in the Bible that God points out that walked with God and Enoch was one of those prior, prior to the flood that he walked with God and all of a sudden one day he was not because God just chose to take him home to heaven and translated

him right out of the earth and into heaven itself and of course that was a picture of rapture before the flood that God took Enoch out. And of course as you… In agreement with God and you’re living your life in accordance with the Scriptures, then you’re gonna be able to walk with God. And that’s what it’s all about. I hope that helps. Can I ask you one more favor. Can you put me on the up with somebody that can send me the address and an envelope as well?

I’d love to attend your church. We’ll have them pick up the phone right now and they’ll take care of that. Alright, thank you for calling God bless you and we’ll be praying for you. We’re now going to go to Mike in Brookfield with Wisconsin and Mike is a mega Rick Mike Mike okay Mike welcome to Bible line. Okay I have a question for you. Okay. Okay and it’s in Luke chapter 9 Chapter 9 verses 1 through 6 and it mainly deals with Jesus sending out his 12 disciples to preach and one of the 12 is Judas.

My question is can an unsaved person preach the gospel and can another unsaved person get saved to an unsaved person preaching the gospel because it says he spent the mountain in verse 6 it said, and they departed and went through the towns preaching the gospel and healing everywhere. And Judas was one of them. I was just wondering if it was possible today. That’s a good question. And of course I… course I think certainly God can and I’ve heard stories of even an atheist mocking God and mocking the story of the death of the Beild Reservation of Christ and somebody hearing that mockery believed the truth of the gospel and got saved.

So even atheists could inadvertently lead someone to Christ. God can speak, if he could speak through a donkey, he could certainly speak through an atheist if he chooses to. I don’t think that’s the norm, but I don’t think Judas was an effective witness because he obviously didn’t believe it himself, but I think it’s certainly possible. Okay. It’s my guess. We’ll just have to wait until we get to Heaven to find out. Was that gospel that they were preaching? Was that maybe the gospel of the kingdom?

I think the primary message early on in the ministry was that of the kingdom that Christ was going to establish the thousand year earthly reign and what happened was that halfway through his ministry he really was rejected by Israel then he announces he’s going to build a church which is the body of Christ not a building or not a denomination and then he proceeds to reach out toward the Gentiles as well and of course the gospel of salvation is the message that began to be preached.

But yeah, early on it was probably the gospel of the kingdom. So maybe that’s what he was preaching in the gospel of the kingdom? Yes, I think so. So you say you think it’s still possible for an unsafe person to… It’s rare, but it happens. And there are the red stories of people getting saved, and obviously because the atheist or the non-believer doesn’t believe it, but yet in mocking or rejecting it somebody else hears the story through them and and can can believe it and get saved it’s not the norm but it can happen and god uses everything to his glory so uh…

uh… in the end that they’ll be uh… uh… surprised that god could turn their words of mockery into uh… uh… means of bringing the gospel to somebody lost Alright, thank you Mike. I appreciate that call all the way from Wisconsin, from Brookfield, Wisconsin. Thank you Mike for calling in today. We have a lot of all-fear questions here. Prudent in Miami calls in with this all-fear question and says, please explain the laying on of hands in Hebrews 6-1-2. I I believe the laying on of hands was to designate by the hands.

So as they would designate leaders within the church, elders or deacons, sometimes in the scriptures called bishops, they would lay hands on them to in a formal public way designate that these are the ones that they felt were qualified and called of God to serve in those capacities. But there was nothing imparted by the laying on of hands. There were no miracle gifts or there were no impartations of the Holy Spirit. any other special powers by layup of hands and it was just to designate by the hands.

So that was used then and even today, many churches will have a ceremony where someone is ordained as a pastor or a deacon or an elder and they will lay, the leadership will lay hands on them and designate them as the ones that they have examined and believe are called. and are worthy of having that office and lahans on them. And so that’s what it’s all about. Hopefully that helps prudent in Miami. We now have Benjamin in Clearwater and Benjamin, welcome to Vibeline, you’re on the air.

Good morning. This is Benjamin. Yes. Dr. Hank, you know Jesus is the stable of everybody. Now, if he the Savor of people before Jesus came to the wall, the people in the Old Testament, are they all saved? If they were saved, are they going to be saved? Will you please? Are you glad I’m going to hang and fling back to him, please? All right. Thank you, Benjamin. He is the Savior, but if they would save in the Old Testament, they got saved by believing on Christ, but they were not a part of the Church.

The church is a unique group of believers beginning at Pentecost and ending at the Rapture. So there was no church in the Old Testament. So you could be saved in the Old Testament. We talked at the beginning of this program today about how Abel was saved. He was declared to be righteous and that was by faith in the coming Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ that was pictured by the lamb that he offered up and the slaying of that lamb and the shedding of his blood was a picture of the Savior that he believed in Jesus who would be the Lamb of God who would die to pay for the sins of the world.

But Abel is not a part of the church nor is any other Old Testament saint or believer. They are saved by Christ. There is no other Savior, but they are not a part of the church. We now have Ken and he’s in Decatur, Illinois. Ken, welcome to Bibleline you’re on there. Yes, sir, Dr. Hank. I’ve got all kinds of questions. I don’t waste your time with them. I just search out scriptures and get that. But I just wanted to say that, you know, he was talking about, can an unsafe person preach the gospel and an unsafe person gets saved?

Well, the Word of God doesn’t depend on the person. The Word of God is powerful. And I mean, look at all the scriptures that support it’s in the power of the gospel is in the Word. And it’s certainly not in the person. It’s not in use, not in me. And it’s not in that loss, man. If you could give a parent quote the word of god a person could get saved i believe because of our the gospel of the word that’s all i want to say it i mean you know all the scriptures i just felt like when that guy hung up he still wasn’t sure about whether of uh…

an unsafe person could quote the word of god and an unsafe person get saved i think if you would though a few of the scriptures that because you know about i’ve listened to you use them against a lot of people thank you brother god bless you That was a great. Those are great observations and you’re absolutely right. As they quote the truth, the Scriptures, the Word of God is living in powerful and can bring life to that lost person.

Isn’t that exciting? That God uses his Word however it is God now by whomever. That’s wonderful news, isn’t it? Well, we’re gonna go maybe take a look at a couple of fair questions here. We have Dion in Clearwater and he leaves the software question Jesus is Yeshua Yasha in Hebrew Why did he call himself in or what did he call himself in Acts 26? since he spoke in the Hebrew tongue and And my name will be the same no matter where I go.

Should we not use Jesus when speaking of him? Not to sure exactly what you’re saying, but obviously we don’t speak Hebrew. So the Yeshua is the contraction of God’s name or Jesus’ name. In English, Jesus is the equivalent. And I believe that is adequate. So I don’t think we have to worry about that. But we certainly don’t believe in Allah, which is the Muslim God, which is the moon God really. That is the God that was adopted by Muhammad as the God of Islam, but it was one of the tribal gods of those different Bedouin tribes in the Saudi Arabian Desert and they worshiped the moon.

And that’s who they pray to when they pray to Allah. And obviously that is not going to get him anywhere because Allah, the moon God, cannot hear your prayers. Alright we have now a caller from, let’s see, we have Tony and Tony’s calling in from Richmond, Virginia. So Tony welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. I just have one thing to say I’m really upset about the guy who called about the homosexual singing in church. Senator Garth was supportive of 8% is what’s wrong with society today.

the judgment in the crap that those people in the most of thinking that is what’s wrong with society right there that type of judgment of all the well Well, I don’t think you understood what they were trying to say. And they were trying to get people to come to know the Lord and enjoy the fullness of what God has for them. And obviously a homosexual is living a lifestyle that the Bible says is an abomination to God. And also a marriage that is between two believers is also a marriage that is not really going complete as God designed it.

He designed it to be between two believers. Actually, Adam and Eve were believers. They were both saved. And when God put them together in the garden, that was the ideal marriage. That was two believers coming together to live together throughout their lifetime. And they were married by God himself. And so I think you’ve kind of missed the point there Tony. Thank you for calling in from Richmond, Virginia. Alright we have the phone number here, 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771 and we want to say that we have a third Sunday, this coming Sunday, and if you’re in the area, you’re welcome to come and join as far as worship service and also stay for our lunch dinner, a cover dish dinner will take place right after the service.

But if you cannot attend, obviously you can still observe our worship service live on Sunday morning and you can catch them later in archive. We have a year’s worth of service sitting there on our website and you can, by the way, watch yesterday’s worship service. If you go to our internet site, BibleLineMinistries.org and click on the camera you could catch yesterday’s sermon sitting there waiting for you.

We’re now going to go to Phil in Virginia and Phil, welcome to Bibleline, you’re on the air. Hi, Basserman, I’m Phil. Yes, sir. I just had a quick question for you. Your discussion earlier in regards to paradise 80s, a spark noiset question in my mind. There are several verses throughout the New Testament and in Revelation where it talks about the centers being judged and being cast into the lake to fire where there should be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

I’ve heard a lot of sermons along the lines of the severing holes, the hell, the torment and all that sort of stuff. There are some verses, I forget where it’s at, where it talks about the soul that sineth not surely die and i’ve heard argument along the lines that once once you’re judged and you’re not going to have a new soul died there’s no torment there’s no patches knowledge of of eternity in in torment because your soul is dead uh…

i’m just curious thoughts are on that topic okay well though the first of all that that particular quote is from his equal eighteen twenty the soul of some initial dot is talking about physical death in his talking about the loss of your body. The Lord will only put up with so much and then he will take you out of this world and you will die physically. But the soul itself never dies. If you read Matthew 10 verse 28, there Jesus says, fear not those who can kill the body but are not able to kill your soul.

So the Bible is telling as the soul is an ever living soul and you’ll either spend it with the Lord in heaven if you’re a believer or you’ll spend it separated from God forever. in hell if you’re an unbeliever. So it’s important that you come to know the Lord as your Savior. But all believers go to heaven, all unbelievers go to hell, but the soul never will die. Phil, I hope that helps and will help you with that. We’re kind of at the end of the program here.

The clock is just racing, and I want to just say again that the Bibleline could use your helper in the summertime. This is a time when things are a lot leaner normally, But also we have a lean economy and we would We would like to ask your help here to keep Bibleline going in every area. We don’t want to see any station ever dropped. And we’d like to see each station continue. And if you could give a gift to Bibleline today, would you do that?

You could call in and our operators are standing by and you could give a gift by credit card. That would really help us and be greatly appreciated. We appreciate it. Or you can ask for an envelope to be sent with our dress on it and you can mail your gift in. But in any case, we are listening to support. We have no other means of support. And we’re dependent upon God, of course. But we’re trusting that He’ll touch you with the need.

And hopefully you would respond and say, I’d like to help by blind. Would you do that? And thank you in advance. God bless all of you who pray for and give the Bible and we love you. We’re going to have to go. We’ll be back again tomorrow. In the meantime, keep looking up. Jesus is coming. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. I’m saying goodbye, but we’ll be back Lord willing tomorrow.
