If you have not been water baptized since you have been saved, you ought to be. And we would be happy to include you if you would like to be baptized with us in our servers at 3 in the afternoon. And just call, get your name on the list and get directions and we’ll include you this Sunday afternoon in that baptism. So that’s at 3. Water baptism doesn’t save you. or cannot wash away your sin. The Bible tells us only the blood of Christ could wash away your sin.

But it’s an act of obedience as a Christian so we can test some money through the fact that we’ve been cleansed of our sin by the blood of Jesus Christ. Hopefully if you are able to, you might check out on our website on the online books, the vertical banner on every page. You can click on our Bibleline music for children. We have six CDs of children’s music. That’s quite delightful. What is so nice is that you can have your child, your grandchild, your nephew, your niece.

You can have their name put into that CD so that they’ll hear it about 45 times. This has really worked with my granddaughter. She’s two years old and they put her name in there and it begins by telling her how she’s special, how God loves her. She loves this thing. You know, her life just stops when she hears this CD. You can actually go on our website and sample it. sample it. You can actually type in the name of your child grandchild nephew or niece and sample what it will sound like with their name in it.

Can you imagine turning that on on your CD player and they hear their name and they hear their name ring out that their special that God loves them and my granddaughters memorized all these songs already and loves the Singum and her world just stops. And it’s just facilitated the opportunity for me to be able to talk to her about the Lord. Well, we’re going to add some more seedies of music to the Bible and music for children for Christmas.

So keep in mind that’s coming up tune. We’ll announce that when it happens. But right now we have six different albums and they’re for children up to about 12 years of age, take a listen by going to BibleLineMinistries.org. Go to the online bookstore and on the right side of every page, there’s a vertical banner click on that, you’ll be able to sample the CDs. I’m telling you, it works. It certainly has got me convinced that this is a powerful tool for winning your children, grandchildren, your nephews and nieces of Christ, and you might want to get them a gift for Christmas or for their birthday or for some holiday or just get it.

They will really enjoy it. What an investment to get them to come to know the Lord as their Savior. Well we also have a lot of things in our Resource Center for you. We have the Scofield Bible, we have all the different commentaries that I recommend, lots of different evangelism tools, a handbook on personal evangelism which is in Spanish and English. We have tracks that work in Spanish and English and lots of great things and I hope you’ll take advantage of that too.

We’ll be glad to send you a sample if you want to take a look at what they look like and give it a try and you might want to order some for your own evangelism when you go out and leave them in the marketplace with people and so on and lead people to Christ. Well, I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline. We’re going to be talking about the Bible now for a few minutes and then we’re going to take our callers.

The phone number is 1-800-576-3771. We’ve got several people already lined up to go on the air. We’ve got lots of offer questions and you’re welcome to call and get up on the so we can get to you. to you in just a minute. Let me just say a brief word about Calvinism. A lot of people hold that there are three positions are meaniness, which basically all Armenians that believe basically you can work for your salvation and you can lose your salvation.

And obviously, I believe that’s the wrong position. The other position is the counterpart Calvinism, where they believe you can do nothing to earn it, but they also believe you can’t do anything to receive it. God picks out who he’s going to save and who he’s not going to save. And I don’t believe that position is acceptable. There’s another position called universalism where supposedly everybody goes to heaven. Nobody goes to hell. That’s pretty popular and a lot of people seem to gravitate toward universalism, but that’s certainly not biblical.

everybody will go to heaven. There are people who go to hell. Well, what do you do then? Where do you fit yourself? Well, I believe there’s a fourth position. That’s right. There’s a fourth position. What is that fourth position? I believe it’s the biblical position. In other words, you can follow the teachings of men, James Armenius and Armenianism or John Calvin and Calvinism or universalism, or you can stick with the Bible. And I think the Bible the right option.

Calvinism can easily be remembered to five points of it by the acronym tulip. Now tulip, when you look at the five points, T stands for total depravity and the Calvinist teaches that we are fallen as Adam Sin the Garden and we’ve all become sinners and certainly we agree with all of that and everybody is… The Bible teaches that we’re born spiritually dead into this world. So the Calvinist teaches, because you’re spiritually dead and a dead man can’t do anything, that a dead man cannot even believe.

And so obviously God has to pick you out. That’s certainly not scriptural, but it’s interesting that they make that point. Let me give you a great reference. You might want to write this down as far as whether to the T for total depravity is true or not. I certainly believe we’re depraved. I believe we’re sinners. The Bible says that all of sin have come short of the glory of God. But in John’s gospel, there’s an interesting verse where the Bible does tell us that dead people can hear the gospel.

They can hear the word of God and can respond and become safe. John chapter 5, you’ll notice it says in verse 25, Verily, verily, I say unto you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live. When hear there means to hear responsibly that you hear responding to the voice and believe the voice that is speaking to you, and that’s the voice of Christ with the Word of God.

Let me read it again. Christ says, very, very I say unto you, the hour is coming, and now is when the dead in Christ, or rather the dead rather, shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live. So here’s the Bible. It’s clear that a dead person that is spiritually dead can hear. A lot of people that are walking around the streets, and maybe people that live in your home, people that are family members, don’t know the Lord.

if that’s true, they’re spiritually dead even though they’re walking around. And of course, the Bible can penetrate. That’s why I believe that when you’re witnessing somebody, you need to give them scripture. Just don’t give them your opinion. But tell them, here’s what the Bible says and quote it. I try to quote the Bible often because the Word of God is living in powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. It is the word that brings about the new birth when a person puts their trust in Jesus Christ’s Savior.

And here Jesus plainly tells us in John 5.25 that a dead person, spiritually dead, that is, can hear the voice of the Son of God and those that hear shall live. That is those that hear believing it. Look at verse 24 where Jesus This isn’t John 524, verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word and believe eth on him that sent me has everlasting life shall not come into condemnation but has passed from death unto life.

So that person that was spiritually dead is spiritually alive when they hear the word of God and believe the words of Christ as they’re given. So I’d love to quote John 3 16. I’d love to quote John 647. And I love to quote any of the quotes from Christ about the gospel. And I know they can hear the voice of the Son of God, and I know they can respond, and I know they can become saved. So the first point of Calvinism, I reject as it is usually presented.

I do believe we are defraved. I do believe we are sinners. In need of a Savior, I do believe we’re spiritually dead, but I do believe that the Word of God can penetrate that dead person, and they can hear, and they can respond, and they can become saved. The second part of Tulipus T.U.U stands for unconditional election. That is wonderful in one sense because it means that our salvation is not based upon our works, it is not based upon our deeds which is accurate.

That’s what the Bible says. Salvation is not of yourself, it’s the gift of God, it’s not of works. Unless any man should boast, Ephesians 2 and 9. But the Calvinist says, it’s not even conditioned upon belief that you don’t have to believe to be saved. And that’s not true. Certainly the Bible teaches that you believe and then God saves you. But the Calvinist teaches that God saves you first. He picks you out and saves you. And then you believe as a consequence.

So in other words, they don’t believe that you’re saved by believing or trusting Christ. You’re saved by being chosen and saved by God prior to you believing in that you believe as a consequence. Obviously, I believe that’s out of order. In fact, the Bible very clearly tells us that we are saved. When we believe, let me just give you an interesting reference by the way that is oftentimes misquoted in reference to predestination and Calvinism. It’s in the book of 2 Thessalonians and you might want to mark this one down.

It says in verse 13 of chapter 2 of 2 Thessalonians, we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has been the Lord. have from the beginning chosen eudice salvation. Now most people stop right there. By the way, the verse isn’t over yet. But they say, look at that. God has from the beginning chosen eudice salvation. What they don’t continue to read is through sanctification of the Spirit that Scott’s part and our part belief of the truth.

When you believe the truth about Christ or that Christ is the truth the way of the life, when you trust Him as your only hope of heaven, God saves you. So God, before the foundation of the world, chose to save all that would believe. But He didn’t make you a choice for you. So obviously, again, unconditional election as often presented is not true. It’s true that we’re not conditioned, saved based upon our church membership or our behavior or our obedience is not my works.

But it is dependent upon our belief. John 3 16 says it, for God still loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son. Whosoever, whosoever bought, believe it. You must believe it, then you become saved. It is not the way the Calvinist teaches it that you get saved as God chooses you and saves you, and then you believe. The third point of Tulip is limited atonement, And that says that God didn’t waste any bullets. In other words, he didn’t die for the people that would not be chosen.

He only died for the elect of the ones that God chose. And so only those that were chosen by God did Christ die for, and he didn’t die for the rest. Well, that doesn’t fly with the Bible. Let me give you a great reference. 1 John chapter 2 verse 2 says that Jesus is the propitiation that means the satisfying sacrifice for our sins, 1 John 2 2, and not for our sins only but also for the sins of the whole world.

How do you get around that? Obviously, Calvinism is wrong. Christ did die for the sins of every man, woman, and child that would ever live. And God has made it possible for all that would believe to be saved. And that would mean if every human being believed or trusted Christ, they would all be saved. But he didn’t die just for an elect few that he chose in advance. So I reject the third point of Calvinism. And I don’t have any more time to discuss this today, so I’ll kind of leave this open maybe we’ll pick it up on Monday.

I’m Dr. Englinser and this is Bibleline. To be saved you must trust Christ. Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world and yes we are spiritually dead but we can hear and respond to the Word of God and trust Christ and be saved and I hope you’ve done that. In the moment you trust Christ God saves you eternally. We’re now going to go to the phone lines at numbers 1-800-576-3771. We’re going to Kevin in Largo, Florida and Kevin, welcome to Bible and you’re on the air.

Good morning, Dr. Lindstrom. I’ve been suffering some mild persecution I could have with a Christian And they came across the Trump administration’s article where in part of it they cite 2 Thessalonians chapter 1 verse 4 and 5. And I was wondering, I don’t really understand how that applies to what they talk about here. I was wondering if you could explain. Well really what it’s saying is that be patient because God was going to one day take care of those who have persecuted you.

You know onelaimed sin that the unbeliever can commit is of course unbelief to die without Christ which will send them to hell but also when they persecute or try to prevent the gospel from being preached then God is going to one day judge them when he comes back and they’ll receive a degree of punishment based upon what they have done. So he’s telling here these believers at Thessalonica that don’t worry about your suffering here. Jesus Christ, when he comes back, will recompense tribulation or trials to them that trouble you.

So they’re going to obviously pay a price for doing that. There’s some other verses that are quite powerful too that say something similar along that line. As Paul talked about persecution, in fact over in chapter 1, 2 of 1st of the Salonians, It talks here about who is it who persecuted these people and he talks about how that they were 16 of chapter 2, forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved to fill up their sins always for the wrath of God has come upon them to theAmongst.

So there you find that they’re going to get the worst punishment in hell that you could get because they forbade the gospel to be preached and hindered Paul in the giving out of the gospel of message of Christ. So in other words, God is going to take care of them one day. But basically every person that’s going to speak up for Christ will suffer persecution. So to know that that is par for the course is kind of comforting in a way.

In the first Timothy chapter 3, it says all that will live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. second Timothy chapter three. Let’s see. That’s verse 12. Yay, all the will of Godly and Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. So you’re going to have people take a hit at you, but you’re on the right track and on the right side and God is going to reward you for your persecution. You know, in the beat of Jesus, it’s blessed are they that are persecuted for my sake.

And it talks about the rewards they’ll receive in heaven as a result. I hope that helps a little bit. Thank you very much. You’re very welcome. And that was Kevin and we now have Bill in Pinellas Park and Bill welcome to my blind, you’re on here. Hello. Hey Bill. Hey, good morning Dr. Hank, how are you? Good. Hey, maybe you could help me. I know this term Repento sin. I know that the English translation is to turn from sin and I know that that is not in the Bible.

But I would like to know how would you relate that phrase from 2 2 Chronicles 7 and 14 where that’s as if my people who were called by my name would humble themselves. and pray and seek my faith and Jeremiah 26 and 3. Right. We’re talking. First of all, that verse is most often misapplied. It’s talking about my people. That’s the nation of Israel. There was, of course, the nation of Israel. Speaking of them as God’s redeemed people in the Old Testament.

And if they would turn from their wicked ways, it has to do with the Christian life. That God would bless them. know as a Christian as you live for Christ and live pure, God will bless you. But if you’re going to live disobedient and in willful sin, the Bible says that God will chase in you or discipline you and it’s not talking about being saved. It’s not a salvation verse. And so you become saved by just simply trusting Christ, but then second chronicles of 714.

And by the way, most people apply it to the United States. If the United States would just turn from your sins and whatever that we would have of God heal our land and it’s not really even talking about the United States. It’s talking about my people and it’s talking about Israel. The nation of Israel had departed from the Lord. God was going to chase them and discipline them and he did. But if they had cleaned up their act and heard from their sins, God would have healed the land of Israel and blessed them in their land.

And it’s really talking about that. Okay. Same whole to Jeremiah. Yes. the Christian life and it’s after we get saved. Obviously, God saves us just as we are. I love that old hymn. Just as I am, I come without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me. And after we get saved, the Holy Spirit comes into us and gives us the power to have victory over sin. And as we yield to the Holy Spirit to guide and direct our lives and live pure, God will bless us.

God bless us. And then on the glorified body, I know you said to be absent from the body, to be present with the Lord, that when we die our body goes to the ground and our soul and spirit goes to be with the Lord. Right. and went down into the heart of the earth and rose again. There was a host of things that were seen walking around, so they were given a body at that time I assumed correct. That is exactly right.

That was a sampling of the resurrection that has become. What is interesting is that Christ rose on the feast of first fruit stay and the Old Testament feast simplified the resurrection and what they would do is that they would go out into the harvest field and grab handfuls of grain, bring them before the priest and show them a sampling of the… of the harvest that was to come. When Christ came back from the dead, he came back as the first fruit of the resurrection, but he also gave others their resurrection bodies a few a sampling to show that the future resurrection will indeed take place and that this was a sampling of that future resurrection that will take place when he comes back for us at the rapture.

I’m to heaven, isn’t it? Well, I think maybe they still might have theirs. I don’t know. We just aren’t told. Okay, and the story about the rich man and Lazarus, when he says he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham are far off, that’s not for me like he’s at eye. Yes, and to, you know, at Lazarus, to dip his finger in the water. So how would you explain that? Okay, I’m gonna have to catch that right after the break because we’re coming up right on our break.

It goes so quickly. I’m Dr. Englunds and this is Bibleline. We’re going to take a short break. By the way, our list is supported. And if you could help us, as we finish out August, this is the lean summer months, and we’re running a little behind it, we’d really help us call and give a gift by credit card over the phone. Would you? We’re going to take a break. We’ll be right back. We’ll do a second half hour, and we’ll finish that question of bills as we get back.

Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well I’m Dr. Engle, this has been great to be with you today and I’m hoping you’re enjoying this Friday program and we want you to know that we enjoy being with you every week. And here the whole week is flown by. We’ve had some great programs and I hope you’ll go back and listen to them on the internet. You can go to BibleLineMinistries.org.

Click on the spinning globe on the homepage and you’ll be able to catch all of this week’s They’re all sitting there waiting for you. So why don’t you check that out? You can also, of course, catch our worship service live on Sunday by clicking it on that camera. And if you do it at 11 o’clock, the audio and the video comes up. As soon as I begin the message, you’ll be able to watch the worship service and listen to it live.

Also, you can go back into archive and there’s a whole year’s worth of the sermons that are sitting there waiting for you. They’re in archives so that you can catch all the sermons you want to listen to. Plus we have our TV programs and our Resource Center and you can also check out those books about the CDs that we have which are for children, Bible and music for children, they’re on our Resource Center. Those are powerful, powerful tools for winning your children, your grandchildren, If you’re nephews or nieces of Christ, get one of those for a few dollars and you’ll have an investment that might be the key that opens them up to trust the Lord of Savior.

I know my little girl, granddaughter, we talk about the Lord all the time and it’s really been, I think, facilitated by her hearing these CDs that just tell her that she’s special and that God loves her and it’s been wonderful. I’m so glad that the Lord allowed me to discover these and make them available to you as well. We’re going to go to Israel if you would like to brochure. We can nail out to you. That’ll be February 23, 2009.

If the more doesn’t snatch us out here this year, we’re going to try to go and you can call and we’ll get your name and address and nail you brochure. If you’re in a hurry and you can’t even wait that long. Go to our website, BibleLineMinistries.org and if you click on the Bibleline News, it’s right down the homepage just above the camera. There’s the camera and there’s the spinning globe and in between that it says Bibleline News. Click on that, then it will say Israel, to a brochure.

Click on that and you’ll be able to see the full brochure and print it out on your printer. I hope you’ll think about it and maybe go with me this coming February. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re going to now go back and rejoin the stations a bit on break and do a second half hour of Bible. The key for you radio tune right where it is is here we go.

Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back for that break and this is Bibleline and it’s great to be with you on this Friday. Hard to believe this week is flown by. Wow, and here we are in the final day of the week. But guess what? In the Tampa Bay area, we’re on seven days a week.

We played the best of on Saturday and Sunday. And if you have internet, you can catch our programs 24-7, so you can just listen all week in long to pass programs and enjoy from wherever you might be in the world. And by the way, you can catch our worship services as well. And we hope you’ll do that. This is Friday. I hope you go to church someplace this weekend and guess what? This is a great Sunday to come visit me if you’re in driving distance.

We are having a dinner. It’s our third Sunday dinner and right after the worship service, the 1030 service will have some great home cooked food, great fellowship. It will be a nice time to get to meet one another, sit down and enjoy some good food and good fellowship and you’re welcome to come and be my guest, bring your Bible, your family or appetite and come at 1030 for the service, stay then for the lunch and and on top of it all we’re having a baptism this Sunday afternoon at 3 and if you have not been water baptized we will be glad to include you in this baptism service.

I want you to call get your name on the list and get the instructions and directions but we’d love to have you. You can make it a day if you’re driving any distance and just come in the morning for the service, stay for the lunch, hang out with us for a little bit and we’ll motorcade to the baptism site just a little bit north by the headquarters. And it’s a church members home. It’s a beautiful lake, beautiful lawn under shaded trees and the grass goes right down to the water’s edge and there’s a nice soft sandy gentle slope in the lake and we’ll take you out there and baptize you.

And it’ll be a beautiful and wonderful, memorable experience. But again, remember water baptism doesn’t save you. So if you were never water baptized you, so be safe. But you know the Lord asked us to be baptized. It’s an open testimony that you’ve been cleansed of your sin by the blood of Christ and you’re going to find that ours will be a very biblical baptism outdoors in a natural setting in a lake and very probably similar to what happened in Acts 8 with the Ethiopian Union because there was a body water and they went in and he baptized, Philip baptized this gentleman.

Anyway, call us and we’ll include you. It’ll be wonderful and if not just come by for the day and enjoy us but if you live in another city and you can’t come to the services, guess what? You can visit our service live on the internet. So click on that camera at 11 a.m. and you’ll catch the service live or go back and watch them on the archives section and hold years where the sermons are waiting there. We are going to plan a trip to Israel if the Lord doesn’t snatch us out this year.

You could take us out though. I tell you the news every day seems to have me up on the edge of my chair ready to go and It could be the normal catch us out, but if not we will plan to go you can get a brochure By calling and we’ll mail that right out to you today And if you can’t wait you can go to the internet and see it right there If you go to Bibleline news on the home page is just right there about the camera Click on Bibleline news and then it’ll say Israel tour brochure click on that and you’ll be able to print it out on your printer But if you really want a real nice brochure right from the professional printer.

You can call a well-mail that to you and you can make your decision. We need to have, I believe everybody to make a decision. I think by October 1st we could probably squeeze you in after that but the way airlines are working nowadays the seats may not be reserved after that so we need to get people to make a decision by October 1st. That’s coming up right around the corner. So take a look at the brochure and make your choice about going in February with us if you’d like to go.

We’re going to get back to our callers and you’re welcome to call in. All of our lines are lined up but try and keep calling and that’s 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771 and give us a call. And we’ll… We’ll try to answer your question. We were talking to Bill just a moment ago from Pinellas Park, Florida, and he was asking about the rich man and Lazarus who died. One was saved, one was lost. It’s in Luke 16, beginning at verse 19. And both of them are seen in the heart of the year that the rich man went to a place of torment.

The Lazarus the beggar went to paradise. Christ emptied that place out. Upon his death-parallel resurrection, Christ went to the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. He told the dying thief to date, I’ll show me with me in paradise. So we know that he went there where the believers were, and now they’ve been taken up to heaven. So believers now are absent from the body, present with the Lord, and the point is the resurrection really hasn’t happened yet.

How does it seem to talk to them about having a body? The rich man wanted water to cool the tip of his tongue. We don’t really have a good answer for that, but the Bible talks about in 1 Corinthians 15 about apparently a spiritual body that is a prelude to our getting our resurrection body. That is an incredible chapter, 1 Corinthians 15, the resurrection chapter, and you’ll find it talks about a spiritual body. It talks about the event in verse 51 52 53 54 55 about the rapture Christ coming back in on getting our new physical body So I don’t know how to give you a good answer on that But apparently there’s some type of form that they had and they could experience pain as a the rich man did Lazarus was in a place of of comfort, but The rich man was in performance

So best I can do Bill for right now and we’ll wait until we get to having to find out the true answer. We’re now going to go to Janus and Janus is in Tampa. Janus, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Janus, you’re on the air. Hello Janus. Hi Janus, you’re on the air. Hi, good morning. I’m calling just for you to answer two questions from here. I’m going to listen up here. What do you think about these two-order rain, dire and Lois, do you ever heard of them?

I’m not too sure who they are. Are they on television, Labanzos or something? They do, but also too. There are things we call even Jennifer Christians. Do you know anything about you? I don’t know anything about them, but if you’ll talk about operator, we’ll get their name and we can kind of research it for you. So could you explain what is even Gellicle Christian? Well suppose that means that they evangelize. That means they give out the gospel. Now every Christian ought to be evangelizing or giving out the gospel.

But obviously because most churches aren’t really evangelizing, there are some who try to say, well, I want you to know we evangelize, so we call themselves evangelical Christians. And it ought to be true of every believer, but it’s not. But that doesn’t necessarily tell us about their doctrine. So there are people who use that title that they evangelize, but they aren’t necessarily evangelizing with the correct message. So you have to be really on guard. And, Janice, we’ll try to help you.

I’m going to have my operator pick up the call and get that information and we’ll try to find out for you. Thank you. And now we’re going to go to Yvonne in Tampa, Florida. And Yvonne, welcome to Bibleline You’re on the air. I would ask you about the gift of tongues and the companion gift of interpretation. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was first given in that manner. It said that every man heard them speaking in his own tongue.

There was no need for any sort of supernatural gift of interpretation. Then we find Paul giving the church instructions in Corinth the proper use of a supernatural gift of interpretation when tongues was manifested in the church services. What was the need for a companion gift of interpretation to interpret the tongues? In the church services, why? Okay, that’s a good question. Actually, we have an pentecost. You have 16 countries They’re named by name of the many different people that were there at Pentecost for the feast of Pentecost when Pentecost the event of the whole spirit and dwelling the believer occurred and It wasn’t the gift of hearing but it was the gift of speaking and they spoke in the specific dialects of those different countries that were represented And obviously they were speaking to the right people.

What happened in Corinth is that they were speaking to the wrong people. They were speaking in a foreign language that nobody in the Corinthian church understood and therefore it needed to be interpreted. I’m sure there were circumstances where somebody who had the gift might be speaking to somebody who did have that language but others listening didn’t understand it. It was really never intended to be used in the church, and Paul said if you use it in church, there are certain rules to apply.

Two or three at most. You want to have more than three people max ever speaking tongues. And then one at a time, and then also which is interesting, if it were enforced today, the whole movement, the bottom movement would die. And it says let your women keep silence in the church as verse 34. we’re not to say a word, a peep, a little teeny noise even in tongues in the church. They were forbidden. And of course 95% of the people doing it today is women.

But what they’re doing today is not the biblical gift. It is a gibberish. The way you can know is 1 Corinthians 14-9 says, except you speak by the tongue words easy to be understood. How shall it be known when it’s spoken? You speak into the air. the gift was to be able to clearly be understood by the hearer, but what the kritian believers did, because they were acting childish, it says that over in verse 20 and 21 and so on, it says that they were showing off this gift and speaking in a language that the people in the church didn’t understand, they should have been speaking Greek, but they weren’t.

And so Paul then tells them that the real purpose of the gift and they were using it wrongly to use it in the Church was for evangelism. Verse 22 says, Tons are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not. So it’s to be used with unbelievers. I can’t find people today that have the gibberish that want to use it with unbelievers. I used to tell them, get them my car, let’s go to the mall, and I’ll get you a crowd, I’ll introduce you, and then go ahead and do your tongue, what you call tongues, which is gibberish.

And if it’s the real gift, we’ll have a revival. And nobody yet. I’ve done this for 30 years. Nobody’s ever gotten in the car with me. I even promised them a steak dinner at the end of it, because they said this would be great. Well, I will see. Well, I have a revival, but nobody wants to go. The gift today is a guy counterfeit. It’s not the real gift. But that was the reason. It was if they insisted on using it, then they had to interpret it.

And so that’s what they did there in the Caribbean church. But that’s what I’m saying that doesn’t make sense, because what Paul didn’t say, he didn’t say quit using the gift of tongues, because you’re talking to the wrong people, just quit using it, unless you’re talking to the right people. Instead, he instructed them not to forbid the speaking of tongues, but to make sure that there was someone there with the companion supernatural gift of interpreting the tongues. So he was encouraging them to use these tongues decently in an order, but to make sure that there was someone that had a supernatural ability to interpret them.

So he was expecting that he didn’t criticize them for using it. He criticized them for not using it when there was no one with a supernatural gift of interpreting it. Well, he did say in verse 2 that they really weren’t going to be using it in the church, and he only gave them those rules if they insisted on doing that anyway. In verse 2 he tells them that if you speak in a language unknown to the hearer in the church, which is what they were doing, then it says that nobody understands you.

Now God does because he understands all languages, but nobody else will understand you, so it you just speak into the air. And obviously you are wasting everybody’s time and that’s exactly what verse 9 also goes on to say. But apparently also if you were in a mixed group and somebody was conversing with somebody in a specific language or dialect, then for the others to have the benefit it would be to the advantage to have it interpreted for everybody there to be able to understand.

If you notice verses 14 through 16 it says if you sing. In a foreign language that nobody understands, then somebody needs to interpret the song so they’ll know what you’ve sung. I know we have missionaries from time to time and they’ll sing in the foreign language where they administer and nobody in our church understands that at all but then they’ll interpret what they just sang so that we can have the benefit of it. That’s what they’re talking about. Or if you pray in a foreign language and we have missionaries all the times that will do that and demonstrate the language.

but then they interpret it for us so that we understand what they just prayed for and how they are talking to people in their native language in their foreign country and then interpreting for us on our benefit that are not in that two-way conversation there between those who understand the language and those who speak the language that we’re outside the loop, they would interpret it for us in the weakened benefit and know what they sing, know what they are praying and they’ll maybe get a picture or video of some of a worship service and they’ll say, here’s what we said and it’s for the benefit of everyone else.

I hope that helps Yvonne. He told them not to forbid the speaking of tongues. That’s because the gift was still operative but today nobody is speaking in tongues. not a soul on the planet that’s doing the biblical gift of tongues that today what everybody’s doing is a gibberish that’s not understood by the speaker or the hearer or not able to be interpreted because it’s not a language. There are many books out that have exposed this and you have these modern day meetings of taking the tongues speaking utterances taken to modern linguists and they said there’s no language here at all it’s just a pure gibberish which by the way is done by all the world religions uh…

there is nobody today speaking in the biblical gift of tongues this modern thing is a and and the bible that it would cease in the season nearly two thousand years ago in church history verifies that and uh… this modern upsurge called tongues is not the movement at all and uh… we thank you for your call we’re now going to go to robert in Tampa Robert, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. It’s been a while. And I’m going to call.

We’re now going to get a Robert in campus. Hello, Robert. and we’re going to go well i’m robert you’re on the air i just want to turn my radio off here after yes i have a two questions that’s okay with the matter of the one but uh… please get these nine five or so uh… the dead oh nothing okay you know that no real died but did no nothing now what i was talking about their is about the in heaven or if they go to Hades they don’t know anything about what’s taking place back here on the earth have that question asked all the time of the at a funeral uh…

does my mother can she watch me can she see me uh… can she come to my bedside answers no uh… you know once a person dies their absolute body president for the war if you’re christian if they’re an unbeliever their president Hades and they don’t come back in their not aware of anything that happens here uh… except i believe believers in heaven will learn of those in the family or others that get saved and rejoice over their salvation and look forward to being able to see their loved ones coming to meet them in heaven.

But it really is talking about knowledge of what’s happening on the earth. They don’t know a thing about what’s going on here. They don’t know the current news. They’re not watching CNN or Fox News or any other network, MSNBC, DC. They are not on their computers seeing events that are happening here on the earth. They won’t know a thing until we arrive with them and then we’ll obviously be able to enjoy them forever. But as far as what’s happening on the earth, God shields them from that.

And they have to say that’s what’s going on. Absolutely. And what about Hebrews 927 that says it’s a point on the man once you have the never are tasting death. There was an exception and there was going to be a whole group that is an exception and as all those in the rapture will never die. Christ spoke about that. In John 11, 26 he talked about how he is the resurrection and the life and those who die will be resurrected by Christ.

But then he says in verse 26, and who is whoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. In other words, if you are living and you are a believer at the time of his return, You’ll be cut out to medium and never die but be transformed into your new body. on the way up. So there will be a big exception to the rule which Enoch was a picture of the Rapture. He was caught out just before the judgment of the flood upon the earth.

And just as he was caught up before the flood, so will we the believers be caught up before the judgment of the tribulation period. And so he is a clear picture or type of the Rapture. And we who are in the Rapture will be exempted from death and never die. Okay Alright, well thank you very much. You’re very welcome Robert and thank you for that call and we’re now going to go to Mark in St. Clair Minnesota and Mark welcome to Bibleline.

You’re on the air. Yes. Hello. Hi. Is this that selection? Yes it is. You’re on the air. Yeah, hi Pastor Lindstrom. Hi, I’m Cohen from St. Clair Shores, Michigan and I had a question. I had a question from Revelations and it’s a city. on the Seven Mountains. Well the woman I believe is the religious system of the tribulation period which I believe is the system that is the worship of a mother and her child. If you’ll notice on her forehead it says Mystery Babylon the Great.

If you go back to Genesis chapter 10 you have a man named Nimrod and he was a wicked man and his wife made him look like a good guy. wife was named Simoramis. Supposedly she had a virgin-born son and she called him Camus. And this system has been ever with us ever since. And wherever it went it remained the same but the names changed. And so this system in Egypt was ices and horse. The mother was ices the son was horse.

In Italy it was Venus and Cupid. Venus was the mother, Cuford was the child. In Greece it was Aphrodite, was the mother, and the child was Eros. In the land around Israel it was Astroth and Bail. And by the way Astroth, the short form is Astrar, the English form is Easter. So Easter is the mother of Bail, and obviously we celebrate the resurrection of Christ, not the mother of Bail, but that system has come down to us in Christianity.

In the fourth century, when Constantine declared the world to be Christian, all of a sudden the names changed again and now all of a sudden the woman becomes Mary and the baby becomes Jesus. Now here in this system the mother is more dominant than the son. And so in, for example, Roman Catholicism you see how how that Mary is prayed to. Mary is adored. Mary is called the co-redemptress, the spouse of the Holy Spirit, and given titles that are unbiblical, she’s called the Queen of Heaven, the Queen of the Universe.

And these are all titles you see in the Bible as scribed to the Mother of Bail. And this system that is built upon, it is also a city. If you look over to verse 18, the seven mountains are a city as well as a religious system. So there’s only one city in the world that meets that description. By the way, I have a number of Catholic Bibles here in my presence. The Roman Catholic commentaries say that this is talking about Rome, but they have the historic view of Revelation that this is already fulfilled in the 80s, 70s with Nero, and so they don’t see themselves in it today.

But if you read chapter 17, it tells us there that the nations there will actually come to war against Jesus. It obviously hasn’t happened yet. And that’s still to be fulfilled. Hopefully that helps a little bit. But I believe it turns out to be the world church under the headship of the Roman Catholic Church. All right, well, I appreciate that very much and thank you very much and God bless you. All right, thank you. And that’s a quick summary there, but you notice the colors are purple and scarlet?

What are the colors of the Roman Catholic Church? The cup there called the cup of abomination, I believe is the cup used in the mass, which is obviously the exalted part that and the Eucharist are the part of the system of of worship, but I think it’s talked about there in Revelation 17 as well. It’s called the woman the woman the woman the woman because a woman is placed up there next to the godhead as Mary is prayed to and worshipped and adored.

Obviously there’s no other church system on the planet that puts a woman in that position. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. I hope you’ve enjoyed the program today. We’re going to come back on Monday live.
