Welcome to Bibleline with Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Coming to you from Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida declaring God’s love through radio and television, providing real answers to an ever-searching world. Got a question? Dial toll free at 1-800-576-3771. Now here’s the host of Bibleline, Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Good morning and welcome to Bibleline. I am great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning in to the broadcast. We are coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church where I am the pastor.
We look forward to being with you every day Monday through Friday. That’s right. Every day Monday through Friday we are here and you can catch us on the internet live right now in an archive. You can also catch us on your broadcast station over. So glad to be able to be with you. If you want to call in today and get on the air with us, if you have a question, you’re welcome to Dallas at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Bible and was obviously a ministry to get us back to the Bible and get us back to the gospel to the message that brings about salvation.
And sometimes in our world today we get away from the Bible and begin to listen and hear other sources, sometimes which contradict the word of God. We’re excited about being with you. And again we want to let you know that we had Gershon Solomon here last week from Jerusalem from the Temple Mount Faithful. And he’s been cutting the stones for the Third Temple. Now ever since the Six-Day War and looks like things are ready for that temple to be built which will take place right after the Rapture.
If you were to be able to attend you can order the CD or the DVDs of those meetings and that’s available to you. Give us a call here at our Resource Center. We also have many many other things that I think will be a blessing to you and I did a special message on the Third Temple and the fact that it has to be built and the fact that we’re getting close. I think you’ll enjoy that one to a CD that you might want to order.
We also have many of my series on different teachings that 10 to 12 hours of teaching on the book of Revelation, the book of Daniel, the book of Zechariah, the book of the Gospel of John. First and second Peter we just finished. Those were two great series, tenors of teaching on each. Plus we have the many books and bibles in our resource center that will be a help to you. If you like commentaries, the two commentaries that I recommend are the Jameson Foset Brown commentary which gives a comment on every verse of the Bible.
I’m just amazed at how it usually always gets it right. Always has a great answer for you about a problem with a verse. And you can order that. For a gift of $100, you can get that set out to you. If you go to your book store, it’s about $106 or $70. Also, we have the J. Vernon McGee commentary, and he gives something on every chapter of the Bible. And if you had both commentaries, you’d really have some pretty good coverage and probably be able to deal with most of every problem you have as you’re studying the Bible on your own.
And you have the aid of those two great commentaries. The skill for your Bible though is really the best reference Bible I believe out there. And we have that in a self-cover, hardcover, a regular print, large print, leather, thumb index, all those kind of different things, but it is the old Schofield that we recommend. The new Schofield has been changed, altered. The notes watered down, new notes added, they did not by Dr. Schofield, so I don’t recommend the new Schofield Bibles that are out there in the bookstore at all.
But if you go to the bookstore, that’s what they’re going to sell you. They usually don’t start the other, but we specialize in stocking. The Old Skullfield Bible because it is much superior to the newer ones. So check that out. We also want you to know that we’re talking about an Israel trip in February of next year. If you want that brochure, give us a call. We’ll mail it right out today and you can begin to make maybe plans to go.
It’ll be trip number 16 for me and it’s a life-changing experience because you’re studying the Word of God right where it happens. We’re going to go to the hill of Calvary. We’ll go to the tomb of Christ. We’ll go to the Sea of Galilee. We’ll go to the Dead Sea. We’ll just see the places where everything took place. It makes the Bible live. It comes to life. And when you get home, you’ll visualize Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and all the different places that you will have visited.
And yes, it’s safe. We had this past couple of trips. We didn’t even have a car backfire. It was so wonderful. And we had great food and great accommodations. And I know you’ll enjoy the trip. Give me a call. It will send you a brochure. And maybe you can possibly join us. It certainly will change your life. And I think it will be an incredible investment for yourself to bump up your knowledge of the scriptures. of the scriptures, there is nothing like it.
If you have your Bible, then you might want to get an out. We’ll be talking about the scriptures and we certainly hope that you will follow along. You know, the Bible is written in such a way that a person who is not saved will not glean much at all. It’s a book that is a living book spiritually discerned and you have to be a believer before the Bible really becomes meaningful. Let me cover a couple of verses here. First Corinthians 2 14 says the natural man that is the unsaved man, the man, that is the unsaved man, the unregener man, the man that’s not been born again.
It says the natural man receiveeth not the things of the spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned. Every time someone can hear somebody say, the Bible doesn’t make any sense to me. That Bible adds a lot of foolishness. Well, guess what that tells me? They don’t know Christ. If you read that verse again, 1 Corinthians 2, 14, it says, The natural man receiveeth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
I remember before I ever trusted the Lord of Savior, trying to read my Bible, I didn’t get much out of it. But once I trusted Christ, it It was like the light switch turned on and all of a sudden I began to start understanding the Scriptures. And it’s a lifelong, of course, objective to learn the word of God. But it’s amazing that once you trust Christ, the Bible begins to light up for you. God illuminates your understanding. We know all Scriptures given by inspiration of God.
That speaks about God as the author. God is the one who directed the writing of this book, although he used different men in putting it together. God himself is the voice, he’s the author, and that is how we got our Bible. But the doctrine of illumination is where as a believer, God opens your eyes or your understanding to the scriptures so that you can understand what’s going on. And you’ll see that God on purpose has placed things in the Bible so that you can’t understand if you’re not a believer and it will throw you for a loop.
Did you know, for example, that parables were written to conceal truth, not to reveal truth? Most people are shocked by that because they always, well, the average person you asked, Why did Christ speak in parables? They’re not hesitant to answer. They think they know the answer. And they say, well, get a e-tool the story that would be easily understood to relate a message so that they could get the message clearly. That’s not the reason why he spoke in parables.
Let me read to you Mark chapter 3 where it says in verse 10, and when he was alone, They, that were about him with the twelve, asked him of the terrible. And he said unto them unto you, it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God, but unto them that are without, that is the unsaved, all these things are done in parables that seem they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear, and not understand, lest at any time they should be converted and their sins should be forgiven them.
Isn’t that amazing? Here, notice he speaks in parables that see and they see and not perceive and hear and they may hear and not understand. Parables are written to conceal truth, not to reveal truth. And most people that don’t have their bucks in a row, that don’t have their doctrine correct, will spend a lot of time teaching from the parables. Because the parables can be made to say just about whatever you want them to say. But you know, there is one correct interpretation.
And to be able to interpret the parables correctly, you need to be very careful Bible student because whatever interpretation you come up with has to be in agreement with the clear, or doctoral statements you find in the rest of the Lord of God. There’s a basic formula for interpreting the Bible, and that is you always interpret the difficult in the light of the clear. And if you follow that one rule, you’re going to come out real good. In other words, if you have a difficult passage and you think you know the meaning to it, And that meaning that you come up with contradicts clear passages, guess what?
You’ve got the wrong meaning because the Bible doesn’t contradict. That is the author. He is the author of all the scriptures, new and Old Testament, and the Bible doesn’t contradict. It doesn’t have any contradictions in it. Jesus said in John 1035, the scriptures cannot be broken. I believe what he’s saying there is that the scriptures don’t contradict. You can’t take one scripture and pit it against another scripture and make the scripture break down. The scriptures can’t be broken. God is the author and this is an incredible book that’s in harmony and in agreement.
And so if you have a wrong interpretation, then you’ll find that it’s in opposition to clear passages that say the opposite. And so you have to realize, wow, my interpretation therefore must be wrong. If you are rightly dividing the Bible and interpreting in the light of clear Scripture, you are going to come out with only one answer. You are not going to come out with lots of different answers. Many people have gone to James 2, Faith Without Works is dead.
They come up with a bogus interpretation that flies in the face of the rest of Scripture. You contradict other passages where there are so many passages that tell us that we’re saved by faith without works, faith without works by faith alone in Christ alone, that it’s not by works that we’re saved by trusting in the finished work of Christ to be saved. And so they come up with an interpretation in James 2, but they don’t read it very carefully.
If you read it carefully, you would know right off hand that your interpretation would be wrong. And you find that in James chapter 2 it actually teaches salvation by faith without works. That’s right. James quotes from Genesis 15 verse 6 where Abraham got saved and he quotes it in James 2 23 when he says Abraham believed God and it was Canada to him for righteousness. Abraham was saved by faithful without works, and so is every person that’s ever been saved saved by simply trusting Christ as their only hope of heaven.
So if you read them the context, you’ll find that James is not talking about how to be saved. He’s addressing believers as to the Christian life and earning rewards by living for Christ here. He says in the book, my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, he’s talking to believers, and he’s talking about the judgment seat of Christ. A judgment where all believers one day will give it a count for what they’ve been since they’ve been saved, and it will be for the…
James T. 10 and T. 12 make it very clear. It says in verse 12, So do ye and so speak ye as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty? This particular law is the law of the believer where we’re going to be judged based upon the choices we make. where we’re going to be judged based upon the choices we make and We’ll be judged as what we’ve spoken and what we’ve said what we’ve done and The result will be rewards James goes on and there’s 14 to say what the hit profit my brethren Profit is reward Salvation is never ever ever Spoken of as profit or something earned or something deserved Salvation is always the gift of God without exception.
So James is talking about earning rewards by doing and speaking what God would have us to do. He says you are going to give an account one day at the judgment seat of Christ and what profit will there be if you haven’t had any works? And the answer is you won’t have any profit at all. And then of course James concludes his second chapter by telling us Abraham was saved just by faith. And of course that’s the way everybody is saying.
But if you’re going to have profit, if you’re going to have rewards, you’re going to have to serve the Lord. I got saved when I was 18. But it was about a year later that I made a choice to serve the Lord because I realized wow the Scriptures teach that if you don’t serve him, you won’t have any rewards in heaven and I was thinking to myself, wow, I don’t want to be a zero in heaven. I don’t want to enter heaven and have nothing to show for what I’ve done here.
So I began to choose to serve the Lord because the Bible tells me that every believer ought to be earning rewards, every believer ought to be serving Christ, not to be saved, but because we are saved. If you’re a believer, if you’ve trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior, you’re saved, You’re saved eternally, you can’t be lost, you’re stuck, you have to go to heaven whether you like it or not. There’s no possible way of getting out of it, it cannot be undone.
Once you’re born again, you cannot become unborn, you are born again and you have become God’s child and he’s become your father and he’s not going to kick you out, he’s not going to lose you, you’re saved eternally. But as far as rewards, you can lose out on rewards. You can lose out on being effective as a Christian. You can lose out on the joy of the Christian life and you can lose out on rewards and eternity. But salvation is a gift and is received completely free received by trusting in what Christ did for you to cross.
I’m Dr. Englund Strem. This is my line. We’re going to go to the firm minds. If you want to call us, that number is 1-800-576-3771. And we’re going to go now to this Inglewood Florida. And we have Scott on the line. And Scott, welcome to my line. You’re on the air. Good morning, pastor. Thank you for taking my call. I have a question that I’ve been burdened with for years. I’m a long time listener. First time that by May, I’ve asked this question many times fellow Christians and other pastors and I just can’t get an answer.
Perhaps you can help me. I believe it’s in Luke. The day our Lord was resurrected. It mentions that He said that 500 other souls, bodies were raised from the dead and walked around and people saw this. My question is who were they and why isn’t this talked about more? In other words, a doubting promise. Our Lord had a show on his hands to fully convince him that he was raised from the dead. Now we have 500 people walking around.
Do you follow my question, Pastor? Absolutely. The message is really in Matthew chapter 27 and there talks about after Christ came back from the dead. There were many of the saints who slept, arose in the resurrection bodies and they went into Jerusalem. And this was a sampling of the resurrection that Christ came back from the dead of his own power, but also that he himself is the one who will Resurrect all the believers of past ages and so on and this was a sampling event He was taking place there on that particular day.
Christ rose from the dead on the feast of first fruits, which was a picture of the harvest. It’s a picture of Christ when he rose being the one who would raise the rest of the dead. He gave a sampling then, but it’s just the evidence that later all the rest of us are going to get our resurrection bodies because he gave some their resurrection bodies then. It doesn’t tell the number 500, but it says simply many. The 500 is another passage in 1 Corinthians chapter 15 where it talks about that there were many, many witnesses to the resurrection.
The fact that Christ had come back from the dead. And he talks about that in 1 Corinthians chapter 15 and says that after that he was seen of Cephas or Peter, he was seen of above 500 brethren at once, of whom the greater part remained unto this present, but some are falling asleep. So Paul was saying, as I write this letter to you, Corinthians, many of those 500 witnesses that saw Christ after he came back from the dead are still living and can bear witness to the fact that Christ came back from the dead.
So that’s a different group. Those were people that were simply witnesses to the resurrection of Christ, but the others were those who get their resurrection bodies in Matthew 27 upon the resurrection of Christ. Pastor, your Bible knowledge just keeps astounding to me to the no ends. I appreciate it, sir. Have a blessed day. Okay, Scott. Thanks a lot. From Ingrid, Florida, that was Scott. We now have Dave in St. Petersburg, and Dave, welcome to Bibleline You’re on the air.
Hello? Hi, Dave. Oh, okay. Yeah, I’m Dave. I’m from the bridge in Pasadena. I know where someone else is called up here. They asked questions. We’re doing a Bible study about love and hate, you know, where you hate people, where you need love, just God loves the world. And it gets into the fact that the people that are saved are going to be with God and they’re going to be in heaven. And the people that are going to be condemned are going to be in torment for eternity.
And so I’m about the question about what, you know, isn’t that kind of a severe punishment to be a tormented or eternity? And I just like your intake on that. Well, it certainly is. There’s nothing pleasant or nice or admirable about hell. Hell is real. And what is interesting is that Jesus spoke more about hell than you did about heaven. And the reason why is because he didn’t want anyone to go there. And the human race is already condemned.
You know, when you come into this world as a sinner, you come in already condemned. The Bible says those that do not believe on Christ are condemned already, John 3 18. So God has provided us saviors so that we could potentially all of us be saved. He didn’t want anyone to go to hell. 2 Peter 3.9 says that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to the change of mind whereby they can become saved.
But not all will because God gives us a free will choice to accept Him or reject Him. But definitely, the Bible warnings are very clear that those who die without Christ and Jesus said it three times in Mark chapter 9 that your soul will never die and the fire will never be quenched in hell. The soul will never die and the fire will never be quenched. So I plead with people to trust the Lord because certainly you don’t want your loved ones or relatives or anyone to go to hell.
I understand that. I just wonder if we got elaborate on, I know we don’t understand God. But why is torment maternity and such a drastic torment for eternity? I’m not trying to figure out God by no means, you know. He is much more wise than not, however, be. And just like your intake on it, because it’s quite a lot of us and we’re curious. I think the answer is, of course, what the Bible seems to teach here is that Satan, who is the one who introduced sin into the universe and also his angels that followed him and then all the members of the human race that die, rejecting Christ, will obviously be Bye bye.
The isolated and separated from God forever and ever and ever. Obviously there is not going to be any interaction. Once the thousand year end of Christ is over and the lost are finally cast into hell, Satan and his angels and all the unsaved dead of all the ages, they’ll be forever banished and separated from God’s presence forever and ever. I don’t think God is going to allow any of God’s that influence around anymore and he’s going to isolate him.
And that’s basically what it is. It’s an eternal separation. He chose to give us choice and he realized that it would cause anarchy and ruin and obviously the curse that came upon this earth came because Adam sinned back there in the garden. And so ultimately he’s going to banish all of that in the saved will live forever in the glorious presence of God Almighty Himself. I just think a lot of people have a question about that because you hear about God’s love constantly and even in the Catholic faith, God, I’ve read more Catholics and I’m going to go to heaven because of the people.
I mean, I’ve read secular people telling me that God’s a loving God. He wouldn’t send me to hell. So just trying to get a statement out on the hearing your opinion of this on what you thought reason would be the reasoning behind it. I understand that, you know, it’s a hard subject to deal with. And actually you want everybody to be in heaven with you. It is your apart when you realize that maybe, you know, you have the emoji, probably assist your wife, your children might end up in hell.
in hell, you know, it’s a scary thought. You really? Just the eternity part because if I’m not a mistake and Satan gets destroyed in the pit. You know he’s going to be in hell forever. It says in Revelation 20 verse 10 that he will be tormented day and night forever and ever and ever. Revelation 20 verse 10. I have to go to the break now. It’s time for that break. It’s hard to believe it goes up quickly. We are going to come back into a second half hour of Bibleline.

We’re going to go to Daniel and he’s down in Miami, Florida and Daniel welcome to Bible and you’re on the air.
That’s our good morning. Good morning. Good morning. I’m probably, we know we’re going to work for our rewards and I’m probably the resource to work for the rewards and what because we want the, I hang up on the list and today. Okay, if I understand, are you still there? I guess. Okay, I think he’s already gone, but we do work for rewards You know the Lord wants to bless us and he wants to reward us and he has that incentive to get us excited about Serving him and it’s obviously a Way of motivating us.
I think to serve him and so definitely the Bible says that we are going to give it account one day He tells us that we are going to be judged as what we have done, whether it be good or bad in our bodies. He will reward those things which we have done which are of value spiritually for the Lord. There are lots of things in the Bible that we can do. In fact, there are five crowns. Each one is earned by a different task.
There’s the soul winners crown if you lead a soul to Christ. There’s a crown called the crown of glory in 1 Thessalonians chapter 2 verses 19 and 20. He is given to those who lead us all to Christ. There is a crown for enduring testings and trials in your life. James 2 12 talks about that crown of life that is given to the one who is faithfully going to and doing the trials of life. There is one for even just watching for the Lord your turn.
Second Timothy 4 8 talks about the crown of righteousness. given to those who love Christ appearing and live their life in view of that soon coming of Christ. There is a crown for teaching. First Peter 5’4 talks about the crown of glory given to those who are teaching the Word of God. If you teach your family, you teach your children, maybe you teach a Sunday school class or you in some way are teaching the Word of God to others, you are going to be rewarded for that.
crown in 1 Corinthians 927 called the crown incorruptible, which has to do with a person being disciplined and focused as a Christian and how that they are living their life faithfully for the Lord, just like an athlete would prepare for the Olympic Games and is focused and dedicated to that task. And they receive a crown, the Bible says the difference is as a Christian we can earn a crown that’s incorruptible, which is really exciting. Daniel, I hope that helps, but definitely the reward factor is incentive for all of us Christians to get moving and look at what the rewards are given for and say, well, I could lead a soul to Christ, or I could teach the Bible to somebody, or I could be faithful through the trials and testings that come my way, and I could be watching for the Lord’s return and so on and so on.
So if you will just pay attention to what the crowns are given for, we can excel in those areas of our Christian life. We’re now going to go to Jean and she’s in Largo, Florida and Jean, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, hi. I know that when a person becomes born again and accepts the Lord as their Lord and save your… It doesn’t the Bible tell us that there is one sin unto death and that is the sin against the Holy Spirit?
The Bible tells us that the unpardonable sin, which is when we refer to Mark 329, can only be committed by an unbeliever. It is really the rejection of Christ. If you read the chapter carefully, Christ adhealed a man that was both blind and dumb so that he’s taken, he saw. And the religious leaders couldn’t deny the healing. It was obviously very obvious. And so they said he heals, but because they believed he was a fraud, an imposter, a counterfeit, not the savior.
They said he does it by the power of Satan, not by the power of the Holy Spirit. So it’s really rejection of Christ. And verse 30 of Mark 3, you ought to write this one down. It says they were in danger of eternal damnation because they said, because they said, he Christ hath an unclean spirit. So in other words, the sin was to reject Christ. That could only be committed by an unbeliever. Now there is a sin under death for the believer where God would take you home to heaven early and you will die physically and enter heaven sooner than you should have and that is a sin that the Bible says you can’t even pray for deliverance from if you commit that sin, God is going to take you home.
And that’s a different ball game, but it’s not a loss of salvation. Once you’re saved, you can’t be lost. The Christian cannot commit the unpartable sin, which is unbelief or rejection of Christ, that the Christian can commit the sin and the death where the Lord would take your life. And in the essence of fire in Acts chapter 5, committed that sin when they lied about their giving there to the Lord and the Lord took them and they died right there, boom, boom, one after the other.
But they went to heaven? Yes, ma’am. What about if the Christian does reject Christ after being saved? Well, that’s unfortunate, but you’re still stuck. You have to go to heaven. Whether you like it or not. I have a great verse if you want to write this one down. It’s in 1 Timothy chapter 1 and I think 2 Timothy, let me look here. I’m on my way. 2 Timothy chapter 1 and it tells us Let’s see here. I’m almost there It’s 2 Timothy chapter 2, chapter 2 verse 13, it says, If we believe not yet He, a Bible faithful, He cannot deny Himself.
There was even if you stop believing, salvation is something that happens at a point in time when you trust Christ as your Savior with irreversible consequences. And so it’s not a continuance. It’s not like I have to keep on believing, keep on holding on. It’s once you trust Christ you become just like you’re being born physically. It’s a time you have been in the point in time in the past that cannot be undone. You can’t become unborn physically nor spiritually.
And once you trust Christ you’re his. And even if you stop believing, the Bible says that God is going to abide faithful and fulfilled the promise that he made that you would be eternally saved when you trust him. So you’d still go to heaven. Now I think you’d lose out on rewards. I think you’d lose out on the joy that you could have had by having lived for Christ, but certainly salvation is not in jeopardy. What about the Christians, the saved Christians, who once they’ve continued to live in willful sinful life without repentance?
What happens to him? He gets spanked. The Lord chases or disciplines that believer. In Hebrews chapter 10 where it talks about a Christian living in Wolf’s sin, it says that It’s a fearful thing to follow the hands of the living God and that the Lord will judge his people those that are saved Are the ones he judges that in chapter 12 he goes into more detail and he says for whom the Lord loves he chastens or disciplines every son whom he receives and It goes on in verse 8 and by the way God does not interfere in the life of the unbeliever But only in the life of the believer and it says in verse 8 if you as a believer to be without God’s discipline in your life, then it says you’re a bastard and not a son.
In other words, you’re legitimately claiming to be a Christian. If you get out here all the time, brand new believers especially, they tell me everything is going smoothly in my life until I trust Christ. And all of a sudden it seems like everything is going wrong. And I said, no, that’s God now interfering in your life to get you closer to Him and on on track so he can reward you. But he’s not going to let you live as you please and prior to your salvation he didn’t bother with you.
But now that you are saved he’s going to mess with him. If you’re going to sin you’re going to be in trouble. And you read for example in the Old Testament you see it a lot with David in the 51st Psalm for example when he committed that adulterous relationship with Bathsheba the Lord he cries out to the Lord there and John Psalm 51 and he says you have chasin’ me sore and the Lord really got all over him and he was kind of beat up over that event because God chasin’ him because he had sinned against the Lord but he was still saved and David’s salvation was never in jeopardy but he prayed Lord restored to me the joy of my salvation.
He was in the danger of losing his salvation but he lost the joy and he wasn’t a happy camper of being a disobedient Christian. But he repented. I know two people that have accepted Christ in the past and they were very sincere about it. They didn’t take it lightly. And this was many years ago and since then they’ve just lived a willful sinful life without repentance and they have not been chastened. They live in very, you know, good life.
would prove that they are not saved. In fact, I have taken Hebrews to wait and pointed it out to people like that and I have watched their faces turn absolutely pale. It says, if you be without discipline, where of all of God’s children are partakers, you are, it uses a strong word in the King James, you are a bastard, you are illegitimate and not a son. You are not one of God’s children if you could live as you please and God does not interfere when you live sinful.
And so you can’t get away with it. And if they’re getting away with it. Even though they were sincere at the time they salvation. Well, you don’t know what they did because they may not have ever really understood the gospel and never really trusted the Lord. But in any case, if they’re not disciplined, they’re not saved. It says in Hebrews 12 8, again, it says, if you be without God’s discipline and where all of his children are partakers, you’re a bastard and not a son.
You’re illegitimately portrayed as a Christian or letting people think you might be, but you’re not if you can go to the police. No Christian can live as they please without God’s discipline in their life. That would prove that they’re not saved. I’ve used that with some and they just turned pale and they just stopped and were trapped because they realized, oops, I’m not being chasin, I’m not being dealt with by the Lord. And so therefore they, I think they recognized that they’re not saved because that verse is powerful.
If you don’t have the gods this turn your life, it’s because you’re not a believer. Well, there is one of those people that I’ve spoken with and they’re living very fruitful lives and having money in their lives and getting a new name. That’s not the criteria. They believe that they’re still saved. They’re not repenting. Well, then again, I would say they’re not saved. They’ve got this at the beginning. Psalm 73 talks about the ungodly who prosper in this world who are full of riches and they curse God and do everything else and the Bible tells us that they are unsafe.
And yet the Christian, if you read Psalm 73, the believer there in that chapter says that he was jealous, he was envious at the ungodly because they were prospering in this world and seeming to have everything just fine. Whereas it says the Christian was disciplined every day and he didn’t have it that easy. But he said he understood the difference was he says I went to the sanctuary of God and I understood they’re in and how the boom when they died they’ll be instantly in hell.
And he said after that he realized I wouldn’t want to trade places with them. These people are lost and they don’t know it and they seem to be… I don’t believe that they’re saved because they weren’t accepted Christ. Well, I doubt that they are then if that’s the case. Okay, not to belabor the issue. I don’t want to belabor the issue. How does this differ with the one who rejects Christ after being saved? And then still he or she is still saved.
Well it’s a different ballgame. You know a lot of people have let’s say walked an aisle or responded to an invitation in a crusade and they’ve never really understood the gospel, never trusted Christ as Savior. I was raised in church myself and I made all kinds of decisions supposedly for Christ but it was until I was 18 and I really understood there was only one way for me to be saved. And that was to simply trust in the finished work of Christ and receive His wonderful free gift.
And so if you’d ask me if I was a Christian prior to my 18th birthday, I would have said yes. What do you think I am? Chinese? I would have, I think I would have identified myself as just being every American’s a Christian. But when I understood the gospel, then I realized that the first time I really was saved. And you know, I went off to the University of Florida, not intending to serve God, but boy the Lord was all over my life that first year.
And He followed me up and brought me to my knees where I dedicated my life to Christ. And there was nobody that even knew I was a Christian, but God did. And He worked on me, I’ll tell you. And I knew I was His child. I knew he was working on me and he brought me to a place where I said Lord I will I will not fight you anymore I’m gonna serve you and I chose the River Christ and so the work deals with the genuine believer and if they are not dealt with by God then it’s an evidence that they’re not safe Okay Good point you brought up and I’m glad we talked about it.
We’re not gonna go to Antoine in Tampa, Florida and And and and fun welcome to live line My blog. Oh, good morning. This is a fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun. I have a question on Colacian Chapter 2. Okay, let’s see. All right, I’m turning there right now and I’m almost there Philippians I’m working my way Chapter 2 verse 10 Hold on Okay pages are sticking Okay classes you can and you are complete in him Which is the head of all principality and power is that the verse?
As a Christian we are complete in Christ. We don’t need anything else Jesus the Lord is the one that saves us and and equips us as a believer. You’ll notice this nine says, in Christ, well of all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. In other words, everything that was God was in dwelling Jesus’ human body. And Jesus was the fully… He is fully human and fully the God-man. And then it says in verse 10 that because we’ve trusted him, we are complete in him because he’s fully God and he fully then indwells us and equips us to be complete and to be able to be used of him.
And he’s obviously the head of all principality and power. There is no authority. There is no power higher than Jesus. He is God and he is God who took on flesh and everything that was God involved in that human body. He was fully God and when you trust in Him you become complete in Him. So I’m not incomplete or partially saved but I’m complete in Christ. I need nothing else but Jesus and I’m saved eternally as a result. My question would be regarding the reward thing.
If you are competing class and if you are in class, don’t you have everything we have? You’re talking about the crown of life this morning, the crown of righteousness. Doesn’t he give that all? I mean, do we have to work for it? Do we have to? You don’t work for your kind of life. The crowns are rewards given to the one who’s a believer. Only believers can earn their rewards. And so the believers get salvation as a gift, but then rewards are piled on for whatever service we do for Christ after we’re saved.
The crown of life is a cranny stick on your head that shows that you are a faithful person during the trials of life. Joe was an example of that. Job went through all kinds of trials and yet he never cursed God. He never denied the Lord. His wife wanted him to curse God and die. And Job never did. The Lord, he said the Lord has given and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. And so Job was an outstanding believer and he’s got that crown of life.
And you might earn it too. You never know. Does that vehicle go on to saying we give that to all? Nope. Nope. He only gives it to those who are, uh, uh, uh, uh, in doing trials and temptations. We, James, do 12, and it says those who are, uh, in doing the trials and temptations in this life where we see that crown. Nobody else gets it. Oh. Even if you’re saved, uh, you, you get in a heaven with no rewards at all with no crowns.
And Juan, you’ve got to serve Christ if you’re going to earn a crown. You won’t get it just by sitting on the sideline. You’ve got to know in Christ. That’s what I’m saying. No, you don’t. All right, no. It’s not saying that. Thank you, Antoine. I hope you catch the point though, that we have Christ who completes us and equips us, and we are therefore fully capable of earning all the rewards that I’ve mentioned in the Bible. So you can earn that crown and the other four crowns, but you’re not going to get them automatically.
But you have all that you need in price. You don’t need to go out to the store and buy something else to make you complete as a Christian. Jesus is the one that you have that makes you complete. We’re now going to go to Ken in Clearwater, and Ken, welcome to a Bible on. Hi Hank, thanks for taking my call. I have a question and comment. I need to another name of a couple of churches in the clear area that interpret the bottom and teach the model that you do the way that you do and my comment would be I kind of feel like I’m being chased and bored by a lord right now in my life.
I used to I started dating someone, got engaged with them, stopped going to church, stopped praying. I got off my track of Christianity and worked very hard in the relationship. Was it monistonal times for my hope? I bring it up things that are said in the Bible because I know it says I’m going to I know it says I want to try to teach people and share what you know about the Lord. Do you think that this is possibly just a relationship gone bad or maybe just being the Lord kind of give me back on the right track?
I don’t know if it’s your answer. Okay, the answer is possibly both. You know, Solvant is the same problem. His wives got him into trouble and they led him off spiritually. You have to make sure that you stay true to the Lord, whether the person you’re dating or that you marry decides to do that or not. You are fully responsible to live for Christ and serve Him. And so sometimes… He introduced false worship as a result. That was too bad.
Well, we’re out of time. We have more callers waiting to get up on the line with us, but we will have to take them tomorrow. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom, this is my Bibleline with us. line. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida. Again, we are listeners supported and we do need your help this month of September. I hope that you will pray about giving and helping by the line because we have no other means of support. And unless our listeners come to our aid, we will not be on the air in some areas we might have to drop and we don’t want to do that.
So how about think about that and call and give a gift by credit card over the phone. Every gift is appreciated and welcome and we sure would thank you for your prayers and your gifts to the Bible and ministry. We’re not trying to get you money. We want to get the gospel out and again we don’t pay any salaries here so we’re probably as efficient with the money as any organization can be.
