Being able to watch and hear the message delivered here from Calvary, and they’re going back in the archive. and watch those Sunday messages as well as hear the radio and television programs delivered here from Bible.
We’re going to go to the phone lines in a little bit and so you might want to write down the number 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. And if you have your Bible handy you might want to take it out and we’ll take a look a few verses of Scripture and then we’ll turn to the Bible. I’m going to read from Jeremiah 10. Listen carefully and see if you’ve ever heard of a… Here ye the word of the Lord speaketh unto you.
This is Jeremiah 10 verse 1. O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord, learn not the way of the nations. Be not dismayed at the signs of heaven, for the nations are dismayed at them, for the custom of the people are vain, for one cut of the tree, out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workmen with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold and they fasten it with nails and with hammers that it moved not.
You ever heard of such a crazy custom cutting down a perfectly good tree, bringing it home, nailing it down so it doesn’t move and then decorating it with silver and gold. Well, Jeremiah 10 describes perfectly what is still going on today at Christmas time and that is the tree. And by the way, this was used for bale worship, which was forbidden. Bale, the counterfeit of Christ in the Old Testament, supposedly was the life-giving one. And so in the winter time, they would cut down a tree that did not lose its leaves and never green tree, bring it home, nail it down, decorate it with silver and gold.
And this would be a way of celebrating the life-giving qualities of Baal. Those customs predate Christianity by hundreds and hundreds of years. And it wasn’t until Constantine in 316 AD when he came along. In 321 AD, Constantine declared the world to be Christian. And so the customs continued, but they simply changed the names. They were no longer celebrating Baal’s birthday, but they said this would be the birthday of Christ. And so the tree got incorporated into Christianity. Now whether you have a tree or not isn’t of any real consequence.
I don’t think anybody’s celebrating Bill’s birthday anymore by getting one of the trees. But if you do decide to keep the tree, some people decide not to use the tree at all. I know we don’t ever put a tree up in our church because we believe it is of pagan origin. But that’s your choice. But certainly you could tell the story of the gospel by way of the tree being a wonderful object lesson. You know in Acts 5.30 it says about Jesus, the God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you slew and hanged on a tree.
I was 18 before I ever discovered the gift of Christmas and the real meaning of Christmas. I was always up until 18 looking under the tree at those gifts. When the real gift of Christmas was nailed to the tree and as Christ Himself. You know the Bible says in Romans 623, the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. The gift of God is eternal life. The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
When the Bible talks about the cross has being a tree. Let me read another one. 1 Peter 2, 24 says about Christ, who his own self bear our sins in his own body on the tree. Wow, what a great verse. So there’s a couple for you, but certainly when you sit down with your children, if you have a tree, you can talk about the tree of Calvary where Jesus Christ gave his life so that we might be able to live with Him eternally in heaven.
And so it’s interesting the tree though, generally speaking, is not used as an object lesson at all and has a pagan origin. But if you’re going to use it, I would recommend that you sit the children down and talk about what happened at the cross. In fact, there are two trees in the Bible that tell the whole story of the gospel. The first tree is back in the garden where God planted two trees in the midst of the garden, one called the tree of life, the other the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, man was forbidden to eat of that tree.
But when Adam and Eve took of that tree of the knowledge of good and evil, sin came upon the whole human race, death came upon the whole human race, a curse came upon man and upon the earth. And of course, that brought death and destruction and ruin into our world. But you know the second tree, which is the tree of Calvary, brings life and salvation to all the partake of that tree. We partake of that tree by faith when we believe or trust that Jesus Christ gave his life and shed his blood to pay our sin debt.
By his death on the cross of Calvary, for you and for me. So, by these two trees, you can tell the whole story. Men became under God’s curse by taking of the first tree, but then God gave us a second tree, the tree of Calvary, and by part taking of that tree, you can enter into eternal life. You know, when Adam and Eve sinned, when they took of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they were kicked out of paradise and God blocked the way so that man could not go back into the garden of Eden into paradise.
But you know, when the dying thief that believed trusted Christ just before he died, Jesus said to him, today thou shalt be with me in paradise. So the first tree excluded man from Paradise, but the second tree is the invitation to enter into Paradise. Paradise today by the way is in heaven and when a person dies, that’s a believer, they are absent from the body and present with the Lord. That is 2 Corinthians 5 verse 8. You ought to write that one down.
That’s a good one. 2 Corinthians 5, 8, absent from the body, present with the Lord. And so if you become a believer just as the dying thief, you’re invited to enter Paradise. Whereas when Adam and Eve ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they were cast out of Paradise. Man is invited to enjoy Paradise in heaven with the Lord when they trust Jesus and his death at Calvary. Isn’t it fascinating? I think it’s so interesting to take and use the tree in a correct way.
If you are a believer, you can sit down with your children and tell them about the gift that really counts at Christmas is not those gifts that are laid underneath the tree, but it is the gift that God gave, the gift that was nailed to the tree, the Lord Jesus Christ, And all that would put their trust in Him would not perish, but they would have everlasting life. That’s got to be the best news you’ll ever hear. And I was 18 before I ever discovered the true meaning of Christmas.
I remember celebrating every year with my family, my parents, my mom and dad, my brother, my two sisters, and we would look forward to Christmas morning. That’s when we were able to open the gifts. We couldn’t open them before then. And we would look at those gifts and we’d kind of shake them and feel them and feel how heavy they were and look at the names written on them and knew which ones were going to be ours. And we were excited about anticipating that day.
But you know, all those years, I never knew about the real gift of Christmas and it wasn’t until I was 18 that I discovered the real gift was not a gift unto the tree, but a gift nailed to the tree and that Jesus died on the tree of Calvary and there he purchased my salvation by his death and shed blood. Yet if I would only receive Christ my faith I would be eligible to enter heaven and live with the Lord forever.
I’m not your hanglings from. I hope you have received the gift of eternal life. I hope you’ve trusted Christ if you haven’t you could do it right now. Just say, Lord, I am a sinner and we all are. That’s just being honest. But God, what I heard just now made a lot of sense and I trust Jesus Christ right now as my Savior, as my only hope of heaven. And the moment you do, God of heaven knows and He saves you.
And He forgives you and gives you the gift of everlasting life. Romans 623, the gift of God is eternal life. This is my blind. I’m Dr. Englunds from where we go to the phone lines. The number is 1-800 576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. We have Robert in Tampa, Florida and Robert. Welcome to my one year on the air. Thank you, sir. Good morning, Pastor. Good morning. I spoke with you last week. I called concerning my divorce and I appreciate your words and I’ve been I’m a courier driver I drive all day so I definitely enjoy listening to your show and it’s definitely helped me through my bad times and I’m going so thankful and so blessed for your words that I listen to every morning I just want to say that first off my book yes sir I spoke with a pastor which is a friend of a friend
and he was just talking to me a little bit in the Bible that Christians were talked to as a bad thing that they were made fun of as being… being Christians and that he, can I get your opinion on that and I listen to Well, it’s true that we are called saints, but that’s not a term to be laughed at. Actually, in 1 Corinthians, it addresses every believer at Corinth as a saint, and it tells us that it was written to those that were sanctified in Christ Jesus.
Now, the word sanctified, we don’t use it too often, but it’s a word that means from the Greek, from which the New because it was written to make pure and holy. And so when you trust Jesus as your Savior, you’re made pure and holy in God’s sight based upon the fact that Jesus Christ died and fully paid our sin debt at Calvary. Hebrews 10-10 says, by the will of God, we are sanctified, made pure and holy, through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
So by Christ one time death we are made pure and holy in God’s sight, therefore become eligible to be of heaven. Now in 1 Corinthians 1-2 it addresses the letter here under the Church of God which is at Corinth to them which are sanctified in Christ Jesus. Now the word sanctified is the verb form of the Greek word and it means to make pure and holy and then it says called saints. The noun form of that same Greek word is saint.
So if you have been sanctified, if you’ve trusted Christ as the means of the forgiveness and cleansing of your sin, then you are sanctified in Christ Jesus, the Bible says, by the one time offering of Jesus at the cross is death and shed blood. And therefore you are called a saint. And so every believer, while you’re living, is a saint. Now in the Roman Catholic Church, of course they have a different system. They will examine a person’s life after they’ve died.
Sometimes they’ve been dead several hundred years. And then if they’ve done something special in their life in this net and the other, they are brought through a process called beatification and so on towards St. Hood. And then it’s voted on whether they become saints or not. And of course that’s not biblical. We’re instant saints. We become saints at the moment we believe. So if you’ve trusted Christ, you are a saint. Now what is interesting in the Roman Catholic Church, you can lose your St.
Hood. Rather recently, we know that the Roman Catholic Church descended Nick. That’s right, the one associated with Christmas. St. Nick, well St. Nick, guess what? There’s no longer St. Nick. According to Roman Catholic theology, they recently descended him. Now he’s simply called Nick. He’s no longer Saint Nick. By the way, Saint Christopher is also just playing Christopher now. He’s no longer Saint Christopher. I’ll never forget visiting a person in the VA hospital and trying to talk to him about the Lord.
Somebody had asked me if I would go talk to this gentleman. And when I talked to him about his salvation, he clung to this Saint Christopher medal hanging around his neck and he clutched it tightly. And he said, St. Christopher got me all the way through World War II and St. Christopher will take me the rest of the way as well. And I said I don’t want to be disrespectful but did you know that the Roman Catholic Church has decainted St.
Christopher and he’s no longer St. Christopher, he’s just Christopher. Well, he got mad at me for that because I just told him I just killed a messenger. But he’s just Christopher today, he’s no longer St. Christopher. So that, of course, is not biblical. The Catholic Church votes on people and puts them in a saints and takes people off the road and no longer saints. But if you ever become a believer in Christ, you’re a saint forever. Now, of course, it does talk in the Bible about how sometimes the world thinks that we are fools and they laugh at us, but certainly not because we’re called saints.
I think that’s a wonderful thing and if they only understood what that really meant, I think they would want to become a saint also by trusting Christ as Savior. But it says over in 1 Corinthians 4 that we are made a spectacle under the world and angels and to men as believers. And therefore in verse 10 in the view of those that are unsaved many times it says we We are fools for Christ’s sake. But actually the Bible says we are wise in Christ.
But many times the world thinks we’re crazy because we have placed our trust in Jesus. But in reality we are quite wise. I sure hope that helps Robert and thank you for calling in and we’ll still continue to pray for you as you go through a very painful divorce situation. Now I’m going to Edgar in Petersburg, Virginia. And Edgar, we want to welcome you to the line. And thank you for calling in today. This is going to be Edgar in Petersburg.
Virginia, welcome to Bible Linger on the air. How are you doing this morning, Dr. Hank? I was a perusing Dr. Schofield’s right to divide the world of truth, and he was talking about the judgment of all the works. And I heard him mention one time he was saying that the Christians’ judgment of all works, you know, at the judgments you do Christ, it would take place. He was saying something about that the Rapture in the air, you know, I’ve been reading the Bible and stuff and I Believe it says something about we will have our works Just at the return of Christ at the threshold of the millennium.
Can you put this up for me? Sure, absolutely What is talking about is that the Rapture? Everybody in the church age which began at Pentecost and will conclude that the Rapture will get their rewards at the judgment of Christ which occurs when Christ returns at the event of the Rapture. But at the beginning of the millennium, seven years later when Christ comes back to set up His earthly kingdom, then the Old Testament saints and those that become believers during the tribulation, the tribulation saints that die will be rewarded at that time according to their works.
So the The Old Testament saints and the Tribulation saints will receive their rewards at the beginning of the millennium as the thousand year rule of Christ begins, but the church age saints that lived between Pentecost and the Rapture will get their rewards at the event of the Rapture. Including Paul, you know, Paul said that there is a special crown called the Crown of righteousness that he said that he was going to receive and not him only but also all those that love his appearing and he tells us that he would receive that reward from the righteous judge which is Jesus Christ at his appearing.
So at the Rapture Paul will get his reward. This is kind of fascinating to think that Paul the Apostle hasn’t gotten his reward yet and And neither have any in this age gotten their rewards. They have to wait until the event of the Rapture. And their Paul, the new and me and all the believers of this age will stand and be evaluated according to our works and given a degree of reward in heaven based upon our deeds. But the Old Testament saints, they still have to wait seven years even more.
Like guys like Daniel and Isaiah and Jeremiah and the prophets and so on. have to wait until the end of the seven year tribulation period and at the second coming of Jesus Christ they will receive their rewards. Hopefully Edgar that helps clear that up for you and thank you again for that call. The phone number here at Bibleline is 1-800-576-3771. We have John in Warner, Robbins, Georgia. He called in and left an offer a question just Now, 1 Corinthians 9, 27, it says there, but if I keep under my body and bring it into subjection, less that by any means when I preach to others, I myself should be a cast away.
Now, the word cast away is from a Greek word that means disapproved. And what it’s saying there is not that you would lose your salvation, which is impossible, A Christian will never be cast out according to John 637. Christ says, him that come to me, I will in no wise cast out. But it’s really saying here that you would be disapproved when you stand before the Lord at the judgment seat of Christ. It’s the negative form of the same word that you find in 2 Timothy 2, 15.
to show thyself approved unto God as a workman that needed not to be ashamed. And so when it talks about a study to show yourself approved, the negative form of that word disapproved is the word that is here. And here Paul is talking about keeping his life on target, focusing and disciplining his life so that he doesn’t become disapproved or he is one that will lose reward when he stands before the Lord. But certainly once you’re saved you can never be lost.
It’s not talking about loss of salvation. It’s talking about the fear of being disapproved and not receiving the crown that a believer can receive. talk here about receiving the incorruptible crown. Now, the Bible talks about people in this world who are not saved. They go for a corruptable crown. Everything that we get here will one day perish. But if you are a believer living for Christ, there is a crown that’s not corruptable. It will be given out at the Josephine’s of Christ.
Paul was saying, I need to continue to keep myself disciplined so I don’t find myself disapproved and miss out on receiving that crown, not that you would not be saved. John, in Warner-Robins, Georgia, I hope that… answers your question. Claude, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, just now calls in, and he says, after the resurrection, Jesus went back to heaven. Does he still maintain his humanity, or is he now purely God? And the answer is he will maintain that humanity for ever and ever and ever and ever.
So when we get to heaven, we’re going to see Jesus, the God Ben and we’ll see him in that same body in which he was crucified and we’ll recognize him by the nail prints in his hands and in his feet. So yes, he will continue to remain as a man throughout all eternity. Claude, good question and thanks for listening in up there in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. We’re going to go to break and we’ll come back and do the second half of my mind.
Stay tuned. I’ll be right back. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alright, I’m Dr. Anglister and this is Bibleline. It’s great to be with you this week and we hope that you’re enjoying Bibleline and we hope that we’re blessing to you. By the way, it’s Christmas time. Would you consider giving a special Christmas gift to Bible? And we would love to get all of our bills paid as we exit out the year 2006 and enter 2007.
And you could help out by giving a special gift. You know when people drop their Christmas list and they go shopping, they usually include the children and the uncles and moms and dads and so on. But a lot of people leave Jesus off the list. It seems like what happened? It’s his birthday and you know when the wise men came they gave all their gifts to Christ. Somehow we got gifted off there of course. But would you consider giving a gift to the Lord and give that gift to Bible and as we close out this month of December give a special gift to Bible and help us make sure that we are current with everything and that we can be assured that we’ll be able to continue this program for you in your area.
You can do that by mailing it in and if you call we’ll be glad to send you a envelope with our address already printed on it and or you can give a gift directly by credit card over the phone. Just call our 800 number and our operators can take that gift and I hope that you will take advantage. I sure hope you will because that is so important. So consider that. And again, you can also give on our online bookstore on our website, BibleLineMinistries.org or .com.
So check out the website and there you can listen to our radio programs again and again and again at your leisure. And we hope that you’ll pass that word along to your friends. I got a wonderful email over the week in here, a lady in our church passed along our website address to a friend up in South Carolina. she apparently viewed our Sunday morning message and she says, I watched the sermon from 11-10, November 10th I guess. Your pastor is wonderful.
I love him. He is comfortable, enjoys what he does, he’s not trying to impress anyone. I love it. I’ll do my best to watch every Sunday or at least watch the archive if I’m unable to do that. And she says, thanks again for giving me that website. It’s so nice to be reminded that I’m forgiven forever and that I don’t have to keep asking to be forgiven if I make a mistake during the week. Isn’t that great? Well anyway, we’re going back to pipeline Part 2.
And continue in your area. You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Bibleline every day and you can enjoy it throughout the day on the Internet. That’s right. Our programs are streamed at an archive and you can go there 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and get on there and watch our television programs and listen to our radio programs 24 hours a day. We just had this past week another country added on to our countries that have logged on to Bibleline.
Gambia in the West Ivory Coast of Africa, log on, that’s 147 countries now from all over Europe in the Middle East in Africa, in the Pacific Islands, in Australia, and Asia, South America, Central America. Of course, North America, we’re excited about people all over the world actually being able to call in and or tune in by way of the internet and listen to our radio programs and clean information about the Bible from our website. It’s Christmas time and I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and I hope you have a Happy New Year and I’d like to ask if you would to consider giving a special Christmas gift to Bibleline.
We’d like to clear out all of our bills for the year 2006 and enter the year 2007 with everything cleared out that we might assure you that you’ll be able to continue to receive our programs and we hope that they’ll continue to be Fleusing. Would you……. Consider doing that. You can call and get our address or have us send you an envelope or you can give a gift by credit card over the phone but we want to thank you in advance for thinking about praying for and giving a gift to Bible lines.
We’re going to go back to the phone lines. We have a caller from Memphis, Tennessee and Johnston is on the line and welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Yes, how are you? Good. Good, you listen up there in Memphis every day, huh? Yeah, Memphis is my wife who was an evangelist love this show. And I just wanted to ask the question about female evangelists. Is that something that God allows? I really believe that passage in 1 Timothy chapter.
chapter 1, chapter 2, rather, verses 11 through about 15, tells us that women are really not to be the preachers. And I think that’s happened over the years because men have failed to step up to the plate and do the job that they should. But yet the Bible really intends that men would be that. For two reasons, number one, it says that Adam was not deceived, but Eve was deceived. So I think women spiritually have a tendency to be more easily deceived because they do think more emotionally.
I know some of the cults were founded by women and like Mary Baker Eddy of the Christian scientist, she says, I just can’t believe in a hell. I just can’t believe in a God that sends somebody to hell. So she wrote her book, The Key to Science and Health in the Scriptures, and she tells you what passages you can’t believe because they’re error and what passages are truth and of course you eliminate anything to do with sin or death or hell because you just couldn’t believe that.
And so the second reason of course is for order. He created Adam first and then Eve second. So he really intended for the man to be the spiritual leader. And so you might want to read over that passage. First Timothy chapter 2 verses 11 through 15 Chapter 2. Yeah, all right. So Well, what can I ask one other question? Sure, of course. Okay. Well, they say that The day it is not that indeed may do not come back to visit and what is this that people see in their room tonight?
When they what is it they see when I’m in their room at night. Oh, I see their house Well, sure isn’t near dead relatives. It’s Satan’s Angels make appearances and they also can impersonate the dead. And so that’s why it’s an area that. We’re forbidden to even deal with. In Deuteronomy chapter 18 and Deuteronomy chapter 20 and in Leviticus chapter 18, chapter 27, it warns us about trying to make any contact with the spirit world because then Satan can get an advantage on us and he lures us into that air which will deceive us.
So they’re not seeing the dead relative. They can’t come back. But the angels that are fallen do impersonate the dead sometimes and they make appearances That’s exactly right Alright, thank you. Thank you, Johnson, and I’m glad you’re listening. We’re on every day up in Memphis, Tennessee Live at same time. We’re live here. We have Kyle down in Sarah soda, Florida and Kyle Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air Hey, Doc, good to talk here. I got, you can’t do up a question.
I’ve been dealing in my head for a long time when you said the first Corinthians 4-9. I think it were all spectacles. Yes. Now, I understand the angels probably are watching us, but what about, like I have a brother-in-law that committed suicide after being married to my sister for like 14, 15 years and left her and three kids alone. I’m wondering if, I believe he would say, Do you think he’s one of them who can they watch? Are we special to them too?
No, they’re not going to be able to see us. But they do learn at least of when one of us down here gets saved. There’s an announcement made in heaven. And so they rejoice when they know another loved one’s coming to heaven to meet them. But they can’t see what we’re doing. And obviously it would bring sorrow to heaven if they could. because obviously the headlines of this world aren’t pre, but no they can’t. But we’ll get to see them one day when we get good to be with them.
Alright so just a heavenly being, Greg. That’s right. Alright, thanks. You’re very welcome and God’s angels are watching over us. I remember singing that chorus as a little boy, angels watching over me and certainly the Bible teachers that angels and not only God’s angels, but Satan’s angels obviously are out there as well. We have James in Richmond, Virginia on the line here and James welcome to Bibleline your own year. Hello, I’m studying this walk to you. You’ll mention a few minutes ago about a Christian who has disapproved.
What I wanted to know, what would be the difference in his life in heaven? the disapproval does not receive it or what would be different to his life in heaven and also do receive rewards and of the power to give in indication of the different types of rewards and what would be the difference of one who received one type of reward from another or one who received a different or higher type of reward okay that’s a good question and you know there are five crowns that are mentioned specifically for a different christian activity is a crown for leading people to Christ.
1 Thessalonians 2, 19, and 20 talks about the crown of rejoicing when you lead a soul to Christ. It talks about the crown of righteousness, 2 Timothy 4, 8, for watching for the Lord’s return and living in that expectancy. There’s the crown uncoruptible, Corinthians 9, 27, 25 through 27 talks about a crown that will never be corrupted and it’s given to those that live their life in a disciplined manner, focused on the Lord throughout their life. There’s a crown for suffering and going through trials and temptations.
James 112 talks about that crown that is given to those also, by the way, that are martyred. Revelation 2, 10 talks about that same crown, the crown of life, given to those that endure testings and trials and are also persecuted and martyred for their faith. And then the teacher’s crown, 1 Peter 5, 4, if you teach the scriptures, maybe to your family or to a Sunday school class or you get people together with the Bible and teach, is going to give you a crown for teaching his word.
But there will be obviously rewards, I think, which will be eternal. I don’t think there’s going to be any jealousy. I think that some will be able to reflect the glory of God in a greater way than those who do not. And basically that will have greater responsibilities, I think, and be used in a greater way in Heaven as we’ll all serve the Lord day and night forever and ever. But I think the rewards definitely are eternal. And as believers we ought to be striving to do that.
You know in Matthew 6, In the Sermon on the Mount Christ says plainly, lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven. The previous verse verse 19, he says lay not up for yourselves treasures here on the earth because thieves seal it and rust, corrupts it, mausimed it up and so on. Because one of the reasons why he wants to give us this incentive is in verse 21 there in Matthew 6 where he says, where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
He wants us to be heavenly minded and have our eyes and our heart on heaven, on eternity. And if we are working toward heavenly treasure and heavenly rewards, that will be the case. But one day certainly at the beginning of the entrance into the new world, the new earth that God is going to create, he says that God wipes away all tears from our eyes. Christians may have regrets and sorrow and even shed tears right up until the time.
That would mean if the rapture happened today, we’d have a thousand and seven years where we would still experience regret as a Christian for not having lived for the Lord. then God wipes away our tears at the beginning of the entrance into the New Heavens and New Earth and the New Jerusalem. Okay. All right. Well, thank you so much. James up in Richmond, Virginia tuned into Bibleline today. And we thank you very much for tuning into the Bibleline program.
And we are now going to go to Greg, and Greg is up in, let’s see here. Greg is in Lakeland, Florida. Greg, welcome to Bibleline You’re On The Year. Hey, Pastor. I’ve got two questions for you. I got to speak at our church yesterday, and he gives tours, which was presented to him was, do you believe that the Dome of the Rock would need to come down to the temple to be rebuilt. And he said yes. You gave a response to that one time about you thought that you didn’t have to come down and you gave scripture for it.
I thought it was a very good answer when I never heard before. And I can’t remember what it was and I’ve got a question after that too. But what path is do you find that in? It’s back in Ezekiel and apparently during the tribulation period there will be a coexistence. talks about in Ezekiel about the profane place, which is where there are two air musks today that actually profane the temple mount. And so apparently the temple will be built and a wall built around it to keep it separate from the area that is profaned.
Let me see if I can find that verse where I’m turning back here in Ezekiel right now. And let’s see here. It’s going to be, let’s see if I can find the reference right now. Ezekiel chapter and almost there I believe. Ezekiel chapter, I’m still turning my pages here, here it is. In Ezekiel 42 in verse 20 it talks about how he measured it by the four sides. It had a wall round about 500 reads long and 500 broad to make a separation between the sanctuary, that’s the third temple, and the profane place, which is the area presently occupied by two air masts.
We know this is of course the future if you go right into chapter 43 of Ezekiel. It talks about the glory of the Lord coming back and filling that house where Christ will actually enter into it at his second coming and establish his throne right there from that sanctuary. Also Revelation chapter 11 seems to imply this where John is caught into the future and He’s told to measure the temple that will have been rebuilt and it talks there about worshipers at that temple which we believe after the Rapture.
A temple will be rebuilt and they’ll worship at that temple and offer blood sacrifices again. But it says here to John the Apostle, but the court in Revelation 11, 2, that is without the temple, leave out and measure it not for it’s given unto the Gentiles and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. So apparently part of the temple area, which is the outer court, will be defiled by Gentiles right up until the end of the tribulation when Christ returns.
So those are two references I think of off the top of my head where I believe that the mosques will apparently still remain there and defile and be a profaning of the place. And the temple will be built with a wall on four sides that will separate it from the profane place during the tribulation period. But when Christ comes back, of course, he’ll cleanse the whole mount and then the mosques will go. Oh, very interesting. I didn’t want to debate them on it because I knew what you’d said and I agreed to do but I couldn’t refer to the scriptures to it and I wanted to make sure you pick myself up so that’s great.
The second question I have is the other day you brought something else that was fascinating and you said that there were four different gospels and I hadn’t thought of them quite like that. And could you give me those again in the references as to where I could find them? Sure, and the first one is often referred to as the gospel of the kingdom. When Jesus and Matthew 10 sent out his disciples, it was the message that the kingdom was about to be established.
Had Christ been received as king, the thousand year reign of Christ would have happened 2000 years ago, and this present age would not have existed. You and I would not have been born. But God in his foreknowledge knew that the king would be rejected, therefore the kingdom would be postponed. But the kingdom is still going to happen, and when Christ comes seven years after the rapture, he’ll come back as king over the Jews and establish a thousand-year kingdom here on this earth.
So that was a special gospel. It was exclusively to Israel. If you read verse 5 there in Matthew 10, it says, go not, go not into the way of the Gentiles. into the ways of the Samaritans, enter you not, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. So the command was to go to Israel exclusively. So that was a message not for everybody, but for Israel. They were the ones that were to receive Christ as King and the kingdom would have been established.
Then there, of course, is the gospel that has always been preached, the gospel of the grace of God. In the book of Acts in chapter 20, Paul tells us that that was the ministry that God gave to him, and of course to you and me as well, to preach the gospel of the grace of God. And I’m turning now to give you the exact reference, but Acts 20 is one of several places where you find reference to this. It says in verse 24, as Paul realized the Holy Spirit warned him that he would be persecuted and even thrown into prison for preaching the gospel, it says, none of these things move me.
In Acts 20, 24, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy in the ministry which I’ve received of the Lord Jesus to testify the gospel of the grace of God. So that’s the message that has always been preached from Adam on, that all those that would trust Jesus would be saved by grace through faith apart from human works. Then Galatians 1 talks about another gospel, a perversion of the true gospel, and it calls that one a false gospel and in Galatians 1a Paul says, but though we, including himself with the apostles and others, are an angel from heaven.
Preach any other gospel unto you, the net which we have preached unto you, let him be a cursed. So the a cursed gospel is a gospel that is perverted by adding works to it. If you had any human work to what Christ did at Calvary, then you have perverted the gospel and it becomes an accursed message. So obviously we are not to add to or subtract from the Bible nor from the message of the gospel. The fourth gospel is called the everlasting gospel.
read about it in Revelation chapter 14. That’s the only one preached by an angel and it’s basically an announcement at the end of the tribulation period that Christ is coming back. It’s a message of victory for the believer, but for unbelievers as a message of warning that they’re going to be cast into hell and the rest of chapter 14 in Revelation describes the eternal lake of fire where the smoke of their torment will go up forever and ever and they’ll have no rest day or night and so on and so on.
So that one is basically an announcement of good news. finally jesus is back and he’s going to take over the planet and for unbelievers it’s a message of damnation and judgment so hopefully that helps a little bit really help out a lot and it helps understand that we read the gospel of more people think a lot of people uh… and book of Matthew uh… confused by it because they think that everything he said in their place everybody of all time and it obviously doesn’t have a gospel became a pattern that doesn’t apply to us it’s exclusively israel is very clear especially after ten five it says don’t go into the way the gentiles and into the ways of the smeritans in a not the go rather to the law sheet of the house of israel so was exclusively a message for israel certain uh…
information you get on your shows fabulous might have a switch our charges will do that but i really appreciate it thank you i i wish to i i was raised in church and i know you’re talking about I just didn’t learn a thing in the first 18 years of my life. That was Greg in Lakeland, Florida. And now we have Bill and Bill is in Valrico, Florida. So Bill, where are you? There you are. Bill, welcome to my blend.
Oh, okay. Let me turn my radio down here real quick. So I don’t get that feedback. Yeah, I was trying to get all your last week, but I kept getting your mail box was full. Oh my goodness. I know well that’s surprising isn’t it. You know but anyway no I had I have called a couple of times and we’re talking about the Bible. Okay. Oh it was a different translation. Yes. I should say. Okay. And I had called. Watch I have.
Okay. One is the Holman. I’ve been reading it. It’s kind of like the Bible all over again. And I didn’t know if you like. I’ve read from that and I think it’s better than most of the men with absolutely and it’s a step up but again I think you have to be careful because every new one that comes along adds some new problems to the mix and but I would read that and compare with maybe King James or something else but I think it’s pretty good I like it.
Okay another question have you ever heard of the word of god translation bible i just heard of it and i think i looked up on the internet and scan some of the passages that were on the internet and i didn’t like what it did it didn’t have repentance right and didn’t have some of the other things right and i don’t understand why people can’t get repent right the greek word is met anoya change of mine right and they go right in there and they translated turn from your sin and i think the uh…
the message of god bible whatever’s called is uh… uh… one of those it just says turn from your center of your place that just tells me that those guys didn’t do their homework i mean there’s supposed to be language uh… scholars they should be able to know that the word metanoia means a change of mind and and but they’ve changed that turn from sin okay i don’t i didn’t know if it was called i think it’s called the word of god the word of god i mean yes i i just heard of the advertising recently in this week and all of the time again but it’s you could google it on the uh…
internet and uh… i went rather quickly to it and I looked up passages with repent which is it. If they don’t get that right then I don’t have a whole lot of respect for their scholarship and they sure didn’t get it right at all. Okay now the other question I had to ask you, you know who bagged. Yeah. Okay and I was listening to Alistair Begg the other and I’ll make this quick because I know you’re short on time but Alistair Begg was talking about he said two things.
He said, first of all, can you get to heaven by good works? And of course the answer was no. Now he said, can you get to heaven with me? No. Now, what I’m thinking is like, before I became safe, I wouldn’t even have darkened the door. Now, Sunday, I enjoy reading the Bible as a matter of what they would consider good works. Well, I think that that’s probably what they’re saying, but basically that’s Calvinism because Calvinism is a man-made doctrine, but it basically says the fifth point of Calvinism, which is man-made and wrong, says that you will persevere, and it’s to call the perseverance of the saints, and basically they say that you will have good works and continue to improve in good works all the days of your life if you’re truly chosen by God and elected by Him to be saved.
And that’s just nonsense. If you read the Bible carefully, obviously, there were a lot of people that were saved like a lot who chose to go in a negative direction. So that’s just Calvinism and it’s not biblical. I believe it’s refuted throughout the Scripture and that particular thing is wrong about the good works part. Yeah, because when he said that, it’s just like all of a sudden, I went, you know, you do that way. I appreciate it. We got to run and God bless and thanks for tuning into Bible.
