Lindstrom’s ministry of spreading the good news of salvation through simply trusting Jesus Christ alone as your Savior. Now join us for Dr. Lynchton’s teaching for today as we turn to the Book of Matthew chapter 4. Chapter 4 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. Sometimes we don’t read the scriptures very closely, but I read this verse, I don’t know for how many years, until I realize that how literal this was when we talk about geography.

If you go to Israel and you go to where Jesus was baptized, which was at the Jordan, very close to the Dead Sea, you’re at the lowest spot on the face of the earth, the Dead Sea, some 1,300 feet below sea level, and very close nearby is Jericho, which is around 1,200 feet below sea level. And after John left the Jordan River, which is somewhere between 1200 and 1300 feet below sea level, he then is led, it says, which direction?

Up of the Spirit into the wilderness. Now, when you leave the Jordan River, you start going up. And when we would take our bus from there to go up to Jerusalem, we would wind a lot of Steve’s been with me and will come usually will stop. There’s a market that says sea level. And so if you’re at the Dead Sea, you go up 1300 feet and then from that marker where you reach sea level, you go another 3000 feet up to Jerusalem.

So you really go up a mile approximately from the place where John baptized Jesus up to Jerusalem if you go up there. And in between is this willingness and it’s not a flat desert like you would imagine of most deserts we see in this country but it’s a hilly rocky mountainous type of terrain and so here the Holy Spirit led him up and the Bible is very accurate when you read about Jesus leaving Jerusalem and going to Jericho it says he went down to Jericho.

Wow so it’s interesting that it’s not just you know words in this book this book is very, very accurate and the Spirit of God is the author and so when it says you go down to Jericho you literally go down almost a mile from 3,000 feet above sea level at Jerusalem down to around 1200 feet below sea level where Jericho is. So you literally go down and when you go from Jericho to Jerusalem you go up to Jerusalem and usually all of verses talk about people going up Jerusalem because what?

It’s at the top of the mountain. So from any direction, whether it’s from the north, the east, the west, and the south, when you go up to Jerusalem you’re going up because it’s up. It’s at the top of the mountain. Anyway, I think especially helpful if you haven’t been to Israel to get those little pictures in your mind because it really is a book that you can take and go back and see more things in it all the time and little things that maybe don’t seem quite as important at the time, but later become very meaningful to you.

So Jesus was led up of the Spirit. Now the Holy Spirit noticed leads Christ into this wilderness area where He is now to be tempted of the devil. And we find here what happened. Adam, the first man in Genesis, was tempted and failed. And here we find Jesus who now is the head of a race of people that are perfect and holy and will live forever if you become born into the family of God. You will live with him forever and ever and ever.

And so he is also like Adam tempted of the devil. But Jesus does not succumb to the temptation. And of course theologically we believe he could not sin. So we believe in the impeccability of Christ which speaks of his inner life. ability to sin, he was sinless and not capable of sinning, but he was tempted, but yet he did not sin. And when he fasted how long? 40 days and 40 nights. 40 in the Bible is the number of testing.

You find the children of Israel when they were tested in the wilderness wandered for 40 years. We will find that when God brought the flood in Noah’s day, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights and so on and so on. So 40 is a significant number. It is always the number of testing. So when he had fasted 40 days and 49s, he was afterward and hungered. Can imagine after 40 days of not eating, you’d be very hungry. And so what does Satan do?

The tempter comes along and he says, if you’re the Son of God, command these stones to be made bread. That was probably a pretty good temptation because after 40 days of not eating, you’d probably be ready to bunch on a rock. Jesus had the power to actually convert that rock to bread. He could have done that. But what does he do? He doesn’t fail, but he answers every time all three of these temptations with the Word of God, which is an answer for us as well.

We need to know the Word of God so we know how to respond when Satan tempts us. He tempts us in the same three areas that he tempts Christ and in the same three areas that he tempted Eve back in the garden. And this first one is the lust of the flesh. Here his flesh was hungry. He wanted to eat badly, I’m sure. He was hungry. It says that right here that afterward he was unhungered in verse two after 40 days of not eating.

And so the temper comes right along and says, if you’re the son of God, command these stones to be made bread. Could Christ have done it? He could have. Did he? No. He answered in said in verse 4, it is written. And notice he takes now and uses the word of God to turn down this temptation. And he quotes from the book of Deuteronomy, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that preceded thought of the mouth of God.

Wow. So here’s quoting the Scriptures and he’s telling us that what he’s quoting is the word of God and that we’re to not live by bread alone, but we are to choose God’s will and his word above every other thing that we might be tempted to do. So we’re to live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. What a great quote that is and one worth remembering for us because how important is it for us to learn the Bible?

Where to live by? It is our spiritual bread. If you feel weak spiritually, I bet you haven’t read your Bible lately. And that’s a tip-off. Just as if you get weak physically, you say, wow, I haven’t eaten. You know, I need to get something to eat. And you get physical food. But the same thing is true for a lot of Christians. They might go weeks before they get any of God’s word. They don’t go to church. They don’t read their Bible.

And maybe you do go every week. but then it’s only once a week. What does it say here? I believe just as we need bread and we ought to eat daily, we also ought to live by God’s word. It comes forth and if you only eat it on rare occasion, you’re not gonna be a very strong Christian. The strong Christian is one who is in the word because that is our food and we are to learn it and take direction from it.

So we need to be in the Bible. Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God. We quoted that last period. You want to have more faith, you want to be stronger in your faith, you need to know more God’s word. Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. Now we have the second temptation. The devil takes him up into the holy city, that’s Jerusalem, not Rome. The devil taking him up into, of course, Jerusalem is not holy today, but Jesus being God, wherever he walked, that was really truly holy ground.

So then the devil taking him up into the holy city and setting him on a pinnacle of the temple. Now nobody knows exactly the spot, but a lot of people point out the southeast corner of the retention walls around the Temple Mount platform and it is a long drop down from that corner down to the road below. About 200 feet in Jesus’ day, the road wasn’t there, so it might have been a distance of maybe even 300 feet. That would be the equivalent to a 20 story or a 30 story building.

I’ve gotten right up there on the corner on the top of that wall. It’s scary looking down. And I laid on the wall, looked over the edge, and I saw in a couple of the crevices there some birds nesting and so on. But I realized, wow, it’s a long way down. If I were to leap, there would be no way I would survive. And notice what Satan does. He puts him on this high point of the temple, probably where people point out.

I’ve been to that spot and maybe it was or maybe that wasn’t the spot But most likely that’s the greatest distance down and probably is the spot He says unto him if you be the son of God cast thyself down for it is written and now Satan quotes scripture Can quote Satan quote the Bible? Yes, he can You’re listening to Bible I a teaching ministry that’s dedicated to delivering the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ There are many items available from our resource center, such as Dr.

Hank Lindstrom’s DVD teachings on the topics of repentance, faith without works, and the rapture, in addition to many others when you call 1-800-576-3771. Now we’re gonna take a break from our teaching to listen to Dr. Lindstrom answering questions from callers, and then we’ll rejoin today’s teaching. We have Jimmy from Tampa on the line Jimmy welcome to Bibleline your own here Thank you, sir. All right Jimmy I have a question about Hebrews chapter 2 verse 14. Can you help me to?

I’ll give it my best shot Jimmy I’m turning it right now Hebrew chapter 2 verse 14 and it says here For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood he also likewise took part of the same that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death that is the devil. So Christ in order to redeem us became a human being. God came and took on flesh. So we find here that saying he took the same upon himself flesh and blood and then he noticed through death his death at the cross of Calvary would then defeat Satan who has the power of death that is Satan has Satan caused Adam and Eve to sin and brought death upon the whole human race.

And it says here, and deliver them who through fear of death were all of their lifetime subject to bondage. So we find here that Jesus did not take on himself the nature of angels, but he took on him the seed of Abraham. So Jesus came of the lineage of Abraham and took on Jewish flesh. God who took on Jewish flesh went to the cross and died to pay for our sins. I hope that helps you there Jimmy. Thanks for your very welcome and we’re now going to go to Dave in Brandon, Florida.

And he wants to have us explain the differences between our meeting ism and I guess the Bible position. Our meeting is basically all based upon men’s free will. And basically those who are Armenian in persuasion believe you can lose your salvation because you can reject it, turn it back in and so on. But that’s not possible, biblically, because the Bible says that once you trust Christ, there are things that happen that are irreversible. I wrote an article, 39 things that happen at the moment of belief, and they’re all irreversible.

Every one of them. For example, once you trust Christ, let me just go over one of them. In Ephesians chapter 4, it says we are now members of his body and of his flesh and of his bones. The baptism of the Holy Spirit places you into Christ’s body. A lot of people think when they hear about the body of Christ, they think about the church or a body of believers, but they don’t realize that actually it’s Christ’s body that we’re talking about, and that you as a believer at the moment of belief were actually placed into the very body of Christ such that when God saw Jesus dying on the cross of Calvary, he saw you in Christ’s body dying to pay for sins.

That’s why Paul can say in Galatians 2.20, I am crucified together with Christ. Nevertheless I live. So he died at the cross in the body of Christ. And when Christ was buried, he was buried and you and I are buried. And when he rose, we rose with him as we are seen by God in Christ’s body. And right now, according to the Bible, we’ve been ascended with Christ and we’re seated with Christ. We’re already in heaven. . . .

. . . . . But what is amazing, it says not only are we members of the body of Christ, but it says members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. So, salvation is therefore irreversible. For somebody to be lost, someone more powerful than God or Jesus would have to actually cut off, sever off, saw off a part of the body of Jesus Christ. In other words, you are members of his body as flesh as bones.

So part of Christ’s flesh, part of his bones, would actually have to be sought off or severed from the body of Christ for you to be lost. That’s why you can never be lost once you become saved. This is irreversible. You are members of his body, a flesh of his bones. Read it in Ephesians 4 and 5, 30, and you’ll notice that’s why you can’t be lost. Remember the story of a lady who went to a church where the pastor said you could lose your salvation.

And she said, that’s not possible because Jesus Christ is holding me in his hand. And it says that in John 1028, it says, I give them eternal life, they shall never perish and neither shall any pluck them out of my hand. And he said, of course, a clever response at the door of the church. He said, but, lady, be careful, you don’t slip out between his fingers. Well, that was a clever little response, wasn’t it? And you know, she had a great response.

She said, I can’t pass her because I am the fingers. Wow, can you imagine? You see, we’re members of his body, of his flesh, of his bones. And so we are the fingers that are actually holding us. We are actually a part of his body, of his flesh, of his bones, and for us to be lost, for salvation to become undone would require part of the very body of Christ. His flesh is bones to be severed from his body.

Never going to happen. Never going to happen. Never going to happen. Once you’re saved, I tell people you’re stuck. You can lose rewards. You can lose your joy. You can lose your effectiveness. You can lose your testimony. You can even lose your life, but you can’t lose your salvation. That’s eternal, or God called it by the wrong name. It’s eternal life that he gives, and he becomes saved at the moment you believe. Well, we’re going to go back to the phone lines, and we have Linda and Dunedin, Florida, Linda.

Welcome to Bibleline, and you’re on the air. Good morning, Pastor. How are you today? Good. Good. I have a question regarding Schofield Bibles. I went to the Bible bookstore last night, and I looked up several different Schofield Bibles, study Bible system for one, the new King James version, they all have the Roman numeral three after them. One is the English standard version study Bible, new international version. I’m learning so much from you and from studying the Bible, but I want to get the best interpretation and Bible to study from.

What is augmented and not revised means? First of all, you don’t want any of those that they’re selling in the Christian bookstore because soon as that has that number three on there That is a high bread and it is a watered down Schofield and then notice they’re using other translations now other than the King James and the revised standard version the RSV I oftentimes refer to it as the reverse satanic version it denies the virgin birth that it texts the gospel of Jesus Christ It’s it’s been bad from the get-go.

It came out by the from the National Council of Confucian I mean churches and it is a terrible denial of basic doctrines in the Bible. And all these different translations, that’s not even half of it, but the notes in the Scofield Bible have been changed, altered, new ones added to the not even but or so. We only stock here at Bible and headquarters the 1909 or 1917 editions. And those are the ones that haven’t been corrupted later. In the 1917 edition, Copyright ran out.

You can have a copyright for 27 years and you can renew it twice. That’s 54 years. They came up with a new one. Well, we’re talking with Linda in Neneedon, Florida and she’s discussing with us the old Scofield Bible versus the one that she sees in the bookstore. You really don’t want to get the new ones. They have just watered it down and they have to. To get a new copyright, you have to change whatever you had by 10%.

So that’s why they mess up the notes and that’s why they mess with everything in the Bible and that’s why these new translations are not reliable because they are required to get a copyright to change everything by 10%. That’s a lot of change and no wonder there’s such differences in the translations and in order to have their exclusive copyright, they have to do that. So that’s a shame that the system is causing us to lose a very good, accurate Bible in the Scofield with the notes which were so powerful in the first and second editions are watered down now where they’re just very limp and…

It’s a good thing to say. It does very well. Can you just explain to me in the Davidic Covenant that I was reading in the study notes in one of the Bibles there at the bookstore? It said, Perpetuity. Can you explain that word? I don’t know what they mean by that, but I think it means it’s about its continuance, So what do they say in the note? It was talking about the House of David and of God, the Davidic Covenant in the promise of a kingly line in perpetuity through the Davidic Covenant, 2 Samuel 7, 16.

In other words, it’s going to continue on and be fulfilled literally in Christ when He comes back. The Schulfield note is very good in telling us that these promises to David, which by the way, most of your denominational churches are prederist and deny all this, they believe that Israel has been replaced by the church and these promises to David and to Israel will not be fulfilled. But we believe that Jesus will come and he will sit on the throne of David ruling over the house of Israel just like Gabriel told Mary about him and how the Old Testament prophets were told that these things are going to take place, that they will be literally fulfilled in the future.

And I think that’s what it’s talking about. In the back of the Bible, the Schofield number 3, it had the map. I’m referring to map 6, where it said Central Palestine in Old Testament times. And according to where the map is in the grids, it was 3 and 4 XY, there was Israel, and then grid 5 XY is Judah. Are we Judah? No, we’re not. Judah is the southern two tribes, which were called Judah, and Israel were the northern tribes that were called Israel.

So it’s talking about the nation of Israel really got divided into the southern tribes which were Judah and Benjamin and then the northern tribes which were ten more of the twelve tribes that settled north of Judea. And so that’s all that is. You mentioned the other day the link that is being connected today for the Jews is that the eyes of their understanding would be open. I understand that the executive of Jews for Jesus is in Israel now on a four week campaign and they are coming in droves and their eyes are being opened.

They’re claiming that they never understood that Yeshua Messiah were one in the same. Can you explain vineyard versus Jews for Jesus? I don’t know what vineyard is, no. But I know that there are many Jews right now coming to Christ, But I think it’s an anticipation of this change-up where God is going to use Israel again as his witnessing nation and that after the rapture There will be millions of Jews that will come to know Christ the Savior maybe by seed sown now through Jewish people who are becoming believers and also by us that are preaching right now on Bible and radio and and through our personal witnesses and so on but But the Jews that are saved now are going to leave with us at the Rapture and they will not be here during the Tribulation period.

So the Jews that can become saved in the Tribulation period are saved after the Rapture and will become the ones that if they survive till the end will be the subject of a kingdom that Christ will establish. Thank you so much, Linda. We hope that you’re learning with us. When we return, we will continue this question and answer segment and then hear more Bible teaching from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Turn if you will in your Bibles to 1 Thessalonians chapter 4, 1 Thessalonians chapter 4. And we’re going to talk a little bit about the Rapture.

You know, the Rapture is the next event on God’s program. I don’t know. When the rapture will happen, but I do believe whatever year that it does occur that will happen in the fall on the Feast of Trumpets. There are seven feast days that God gave to Israel back in Leviticus 23. You could read about all seven of them in one chapter Leviticus 23. The first of those was the Feast of Passover and guess what? Jesus died right on the Passover when the Passover of a Lamb of Israel was being offered.

Jesus was offered as the Lamb of God. It was a prophecy. The feast days are all prophetic pictures of the first and second-comings of Christ. The next feast was the Feast of Unleavened Bread and the Book of Christ’s Body and his sinless body was placed in the grave during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The next feast was the Feast of First Fruits and that spoke of resurrection and guess what? Jesus rose from the dead on the Feast of First Fruits Day.

The New Testament confirms that. You know in 1 Corinthians 5-7 it says, for even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. 1 Corinthians 5-7. So Jesus was the fulfillment of the Passover. 1 Corinthians 15-20 and 22 tells us that Jesus Christ is the first fruits of the resurrection. He was indeed the fulfillment of the Feast of First Fruits. The fourth feast was the Feast of Pentecost and guess what? In Acts 2 we read when the day of Pentecost was fully come what happens the Holy Spirit comes to indwell the believers of this age.

This age began on the feast of Pentecost. The next three feasts are in the fall of the year and refer I believe and are prophetic about the second coming events and the next feast should be the one to conclude the church age. As it began with the feast of Pentecost it’ll be concluded with the feast of trumpets and that’s the rapture. So if the Lord comes this year you don’t have a whole lot of time left. We’re coming up hard and fast on July and August and then September.

September we’re out of here. If the Lord were to come this year back to tape up I didn’t say He’s coming this year but He could. He could and if He does you’ve got months and we’re out of here. If you knew for a fact that Jesus was coming this September would it change your life in any way? Is there anybody you’d want to talk to? Is there anybody you would want to lead to Christ? Is there anything you’d like to change about what you’re doing.

Would you like to make your life more valuable for eternity by maximizing what you’re doing for God? My friend, if that’s the case, you ought to be doing it anyway. You never know when you’re going to die. And you never know when Christ is going to return. And it could be that He’ll come this year. And September might be the date. I don’t know about you, but every year in the fall, because I know it’ll occur on that feast day, I kind of get up on my tippy tones Because I get ready to anticipate the Lord’s return.

I was preaching up in Georgia and we were out in the parking lot afterward and some of the people were all excited about my teaching on the Rapture. And so we had a whole group that we were just, we were playing around rocking back and forth on our toes and heels and clapping arms a little bit. People must have thought we were crazy, but we were having fun. We believe Jesus Christ is coming and He’s coming soon. We don’t have a date.

I’m not a date setter. Let me tell you, since the first four feast days were fulfilled on the day, it’s very reasonable for us to assume that the last three feasts which typify second coming events will happen right on the day. So I believe that whatever year Jesus does return, it’ll happen on the feast of trumpets. That’s September this year. I would start counting down. It’s an exciting way to live, to look at the prospect of Christ coming this year and live in that exciting expectation of his return.

Alright, let’s look at our Bibles. 1 Thessalonians 4 verse 13 says, I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren concerning those which are asleep that you sorrow not even as others which have no hope. It’s talking about death. In the Bible, the body is spoken of as sleeping till the time of the resurrection. When people die, they are absent from the body as a Christian, absent from the body present with the Lord. If you read Luke 16, beginning in verse 19, you have two men who die, and immediately upon their death, their conscious awake alive, and obviously aware of their circumstances.

One is a rich man and he’s in flame and torment. He’s lost. He’s an unbeliever. The other is a beggar named Lazarus, and he’s very much alive and paradise in a place of comfort. And he remembers his past life. So there’s no such thing as soul sleep. Their souls are very much conscious and awake and alive. That’s Luke 16, verse 19 to the end of the chapter. We’re going to rejoin stations that have been on break into the second half hour Bible.

And so don’t go away. But you like to help Bibleline continue in your area? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. And now back to Bibleline. Please make plans to join us and open your Bible as we also present in-depth studies covering a variety of biblical topics.

Now let’s return to our question and answer segment and then you’ll hear more Bible teaching from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We’re going to move to our next caller. We have Anthony down in Sarasota, Florida. Anthony, welcome to Bibleline. You are on the air. Okay. Hey, I, uh, I just wanted to say thank you for the way that you guys talk about the salvation message. I hear people calling and they seem confused and even when I meet people and I minister to people, I get real confused about salvation.

I just think that if people would understand that it’s through your family and your weakness that God’s strength is made perfect and that’s what that’s for and I just want to thank you for that. My question was and I’ll hang up about death when do we immediately go up to heaven? Absolutely. Second Corinthians 5, 8 says it is clear you’ll get it. Absent from the body present with the Lord. The Lord is in heaven right now and if you die as a believer you’ll be absent this body.

You’ll be present with the Lord in heaven. You’ll get your new body when Christ returns at the event of the Rapture. But you’ll be present soul and spirit with the Lord immediately upon death. Okay, because I was, I was just wanted to clarify that because I had that question was brought to me the other day and Luke, second Corinthians, five eight, okay, second Corinthians, five eight. And there are others, you know, Paul talked about in Philippians, how he had a desire to depart and be with Christ.

So he was talking about death and as soon as he would depart he’d be immediately present with Christ that’s Philippians one twenty three and other verses so the believer this side of Calvary upon death are immediately present with the Lord absent from the body present with the Lord second granddunes five eight okay because and she brought up the left behind series and I understand I had read the first book way back and I understand that the left behind series isn’t totally accurate I was wondering why I’m not sure about the pre tribulation and post tribulation is pretty much set in stone because I know you guys mentioned it before.

We’re not going to go through the tribulation period at all. Obviously the next event on God’s program is the Rapture. It says in 1 Thessalonians 1-10, we’re to wait for his son from heaven. If the tribulation period were first, it would have to say, and wait for tribulation, then Christ will come. But it says, wait for his son who’s going to deliver us from the wrath of the tribulation period that will follow. So it’s pretty clear in the Bible that we’re going to be delivered from and be caught out before the tribulation period comes on the earth.

So you’re so pretty. They’re pretty trib. Yeah. Okay. But thank you very much. All right. Pre-trib meaning prior to the tribulation period, the church, the body of Christ is caught out to be with the Lord. So that’s where we stand as well. going to go now to Loretta in the land Florida Loretta. Welcome to Bibleline. Good morning. I was just calling, I had called you once before about my aunt who’s a Catholic. And she sent me something, a liturgy, the order of the Mass.

And when I read this, it just about floored me. But it says, the mission of, I guess, of the church is that just as she accompanied the apostles in the early stages of the church, made the blessed Virgin Mary star of my evangelization and queen of apostles continue to guide missionaries throughout the world with maternal affection. It’s amazing, but that is totally made up and vetted. It’s a fantasy because Mary doesn’t guide anybody anywhere. I love that. Mary was a wonderful woman, then she was the mother of the flesh that God took upon Himself.

The Lord Jesus Christ, but she has no special powers. And she is not answering prayers, and she is not guiding anybody anywhere. She’s in the same category as everyone who is, who dies, and is a believer, and goes to be with the Lord. But the Catholic Church has made her out to be bigger than life and almost a member of the Godhead as she can hear and answer petitions and do all these other things. And I don’t know why they don’t think about Jesus guiding them, but they always take married, give her that position.

I know that, but see what happened too is I tried to point out to her that I do that. She was blessed amongst women in that she was chosen to give birth to the Lord. But she also, after she had Jesus, had other children. And I asked my pastor where that was. I knew that it was in the Scriptures, but I couldn’t remember. And he said it was in Matthew 13, 55. And then it tells you who the children are.

that he had that there were four sons and then it named it doesn’t name the daughters but she but you know that she wasn’t ever virgin and and all that the church tried to portray and I can’t see how these people are so so blinded except that all I can think of is that they’re just not in the Bible well that’s exactly right they do not read the Bible at all and so they believe whatever the church teaches them and they take it as being truth and obviously if they read the Bible they would find there’s a problem here because it doesn’t match up.

I was raised Catholic, but as I said earlier today show that when I saw not of works I said somebody’s wrong either my church is wrong or the Bible is wrong and I chose the Bible but they just aren’t exposed to the Bible at all so they don’t realize that what they’re hearing is not right. She even admitted to me that she was she didn’t know the Bible you know. Yeah. I’m sorry for people that are being led down the path to hell and you know and just don’t even know it.

Exactly. We need to pray for her. Mary can’t help her into heaven, but there are those who pray to her for forgiveness and everything else and she is not able to do that. Well, thank you. You’re very welcome. My husband just wrote her a lengthy letter with all the scriptures. You know how to say it. So I’m thankful for that because I wasn’t able to do it, but he did it. Amen. I hope that’s going to be in the mail today.

I love to point out what Peter had to say and Peter said next for called neither speaking about Christ, neither is there salvation in any other, for there’s none other name under heaven given among men were by we must be saved. So Jesus is the only one in whom there is salvation and if you try to get to heaven any other way, you’re not going to make it. It isn’t in 2 Timothy 2, 5 where it says there’s one mediator between God and man to man Christ Jesus.

Exactly. So I mean, it’s just baffling to me. Of course, when you know the Scriptures, which I don’t know all the Scriptures, but I know enough that I know who Jesus is and that he’s my mediator. I came out of Catholicism and I’m so thankful that I have trusted Christ and I’m glad it’s wonderful. Thank you Loretta. Okay, good talking to you. Bye-bye now. We have now, let’s see here, Adam in Tampa, Florida. Adam, welcome to Bibleline you are on the air.

Yeah, my question comes from Chuck D. Is that like a touchdown off to it? It is the same Holy Spirit that Joel spoke about as the Holy Spirit given a Pentecost, but it wasn’t the fulfillment of that passage. Peter says in Acts 2, this is that which was spoken, but he doesn’t say this is fulfilled which Joel spoke. And many times the passage is fulfilled and then it tells you that in the New Testament, but this is not that.

If you read Joel, it tells us that it would be afterward, and if you read the afterward, you see Russia destroyed at the Battle of Armageddon. You see Christ already back ruling over the earth in Jerusalem over Israel. That hasn’t, none of that’s happened. And it says, after that, then He’ll pour out His Spirit upon all flesh, and that has never happened because everybody doesn’t have the Holy Spirit right now. I wish everybody did, but they’re not saved. only the same to have the Holy Spirit.

And one day when Christ returns, He’ll slay every unbeliever and everybody left Colby believers and you’ll pour out His Spirit then upon all flesh everybody on the earth will have the Holy Spirit as the Millennium begins because there will only be believers who will survive. So He was just mentoring this to say what? He was identifying that the promise that was made to Israel of the Holy Spirit is now the same holy spirit now given to the gentiles in this church age that began a CoC so uh…

this was uh… a little bit of information here for the jewish audience there that what was happening there was god blessing the gentile now with the same holy spirit that was promised is rolled it will still take place at the second coming and uh… okay and then the vin chapter two still in verse thirty seven when uh… he had just got done preaching to his uh… it is that they were cut to the heart uh… so is that like the equipment clicking of the holy spirit because it is what shall we do and then he tells them that they need to repent and be baptized in the name of lord jesus though obviously the message was powerful the word of god i think all by itself obviously the holy spirit is the author of the scripture but it tells us it’s in hebers for twelve

that it’s living in sharper than any two-edged sword Pearsing a sender between the soul and the spirit and dividing between the joints and the marrow and as a discernment of the thoughts and intents of the heart. So Peter if you notice their quote scripture throughout and the Word of God is powerful and it cut them right to the heart and obviously they were convicted and the Holy Spirit I’m sure was involved in all that and as a result he told him what to do change your mind repent and be cleansed or washed in the name of the Lord Jesus and you’re going to have your sins forgiven and you’ll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

show that back to them right there isn’t water that is not what at all okay so then if we go over to act chapter ten uh… in act chapter ten and verse forty four uh… we’re talking to the gentiles he said in verse forty eight he said he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the word he said uh… who can withhold water for baptism and forty seven right that’s another word they had already received the Holy Spirit first before being water baptized so they were cleansed of their sin washed the word baptize means the cleanser to wash they were washed when they believed verse forty three verse forty four they receive the holy spirit verse forty seven peters is now we can baptize them and they were baptized verse forty eight in water after they had already been baptized with the holy spirit

and receive the holy spirit in their life at the moment of belief okay i just want to make this clear in verse forty eight says baptize in the name of jesus so when they were water baptized baptizer telling me that they were water baptized in no i’m saying that uh… they were baptized uh… after they had received the Holy Spirit with water. And that is clearly verse 47 and 48 are water. And they had already received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the cleansing, the washing in his name by believing verse 43, they believed and while they were still preaching and they believed that they received the Holy Spirit instantly.

So that happens, that cleansing occurs automatically when you believe, when you believe you’re washed of your sin, you’re cleansed of your sin. And it’s in the authority that Christ gave that through his shed blood your sins would be washed away if you only trust him as your Savior. But then water follows. And we just baptized a bunch of people this past Sunday and it’s always a joy to see believers give testimony to the fact that they were cleansed of their sin by the blood of Christ but the water is merely symbolic in showing the cleansing that they had already received.

You’re very welcome and you read on in chapter 11 and it really does a great job of giving clarity to what you’re reading about there in chapter 10 of Acts. So I would recommend you carefully read the following chapter, which is like almost a rehearsal and a commentary on the events that took place in the previous chapter. So check that out, especially verse 15 to the end, or 15 through 18 of chapter 11. That concludes today’s question and answer segment.

There’s no other topic that is more important to us than the gospel of Jesus Christ, and it was Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s mission to spread the gospel. Now, Join us as we return to today’s teaching series. He says to him, if you be the son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written, and now Satan quotes scripture. Can quote Satan quote the Bible? Yes, he can. He’s playing, that’s playing dirty now in the devil. Let me tell you, Satan has his ministers, and do you, do they quote scripture? They sure do. Oh my goodness. And so a lot of people get fooled. The Bible says that Satan has his ministers and their false apostles, their false ministers.

And we have to be careful because they tamper with the word of God. It says here, he shall give his angels charge concerning thee and in their hands they shall bear the up lest at any time thou shalt dash thy foot against the stone. Now, Satan leaves out a part of this verse. If you go back to the Old Testament quote, There’s a part of it. It says in all thy ways and Satan leaves that part out. And obviously when we are walking in all of God’s ways, then God promises protection for us.

And he left that part out. But Jesus again responds with Scripture, which is what we need to do as well. Jesus said unto him, it is written again. Let me tell you something, Satan, you want to quote Scripture? I’ll quote another one to you. Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And so here Christ does not do what Satan was tempting him to do. And that of course was the pride of life, the fact that he was somebody and that angels would come to his aid.

And Satan was attacking him and tempting him in that area. And he’s a clever devil. And that’s the way he’ll work on us as well. And we’re always, as believers to recognize, we’re simply sinners saved by grace. And by the grace of God, we would wind up in hell ourselves. Then it says in verse 8, the third temptation, and this is the lust of the eyes. The devil take them up into an exceedingly high mountain. There are two mountains.

mountains that are debated as to which one that they are, the two highest mountains in Israel, Mount Tabor, up near the Sea of Galilee, and then Mount Hermon, which is the highest and at snow-capped all year long. Probably it might have been Mount Hermon because it was very high, but there’s a tradition concerning each one, so we really don’t know what mountain it was. But he took him up to an exceeding high mountain. Hermon is about 7,500 feet above level, so it’s a significant mountain.

The devil will take him up into the exceeding high mountain and he shows him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them. So wow, that must have been spectacular. Look at Satan. He takes him up into a high mountain and now somehow is able to project before the eyes of Christ all of the different kingdoms of this world and all the sparkle, the glitter, the glory, the splendor of all these kingdoms. And he says, under Christ, all these things will I give thee if I will fall down and what?

Worship me. Was that a bona fide offer? Could Satan give Christ these kingdoms? And the answer is yes. Satan is the God of this world. Second Corinthians 4, 4. Satan is the present ruler over this world system, Ephesians 2-2. And we find that Satan is very, very clever. And he was offering Christ all these kingdoms. And obviously then Satan would have had the victory over Christ if he had succumbed to this. But Christ says no. Look at verse 10.

Then Jesus said unto him, get the hint Satan, and notice the third time Jesus does what? He quotes scripture, for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only. Not Mary, not anyone else. Him only shalt thou serve. So we’re not to worship any other person, St. Angel, D.V. and certainly here Satan was attempting to get Christ to worship Him. Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only. God is to be worship, no one else.

And so Satan wanted that worship. And I believe he still wants worship, doesn’t he? And in the person of the Antichrist, what would he do? He’ll enter into the temple that’s rebuilt in the tribulation period and proclaim that he’s God and to man worship. Satan wants worship. He wants people to worship him. And we know that in the tribulation period, the Antichrist, Satan in a human form will demand worship and ask people to worship him and cause them to worship him.

And if they don’t, they’ll be hunted down and killed. And obviously, it’ll be a tough time to be living as a believer because Satan will be coming after you. So it says here, then the devil leave with him and behold what happens. Angels come and minister unto him. So here Christ goes through this terrible time of tribulation. In three areas, the lust of the flesh, the pride of life, and the lust of the eyes. And in 1 John 2, it tells us that in those same three areas that Satan tempts each and every one of us to this very moment.

So those are the areas to become alert in. Notice the lust of the eyes here was to see all the sparkle and the glitter that the world has to offer you. A lot of times that is what sets our path. And it’s a path what? The world becomes the most important thing to us and not God. And so we want to have what the world offers us and not God’s will. And so we have to sometimes recognize that, wow, all that is attractive to us, maybe is not what God would have us to be seeking after.

And we have to be careful. And then the lust of the flesh, sometimes our flesh, you might be hungry. And in this case, Christ was tempted to turn the stones into bread. And in the pride of life, that you’re so important. And if I jumped off this building, why the angels would come and spare me. And Jesus didn’t succumb to any of that. Now let’s go to verse 12. Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed in the Galilee.

So shortly after the baptism, we see John the Baptist going off for the scene. The last of the Old Testament prophets. Introducing Christ and then his ministry was over. That was the ministry. Now he’s in prison and now Jesus moves up into the northern part of Israel around the Sea of Galilee and leaving Nazareth, he comes into Capernaum. Now Capernaum was a fishing village on the northern edge of the Sea of Galilee and it says here which is the seacoast, the seacoast of the Sea of Galilee in the borders of Zebulon and Nephtaliam.

Now, Zebulon and Ephalaeum are the areas where the tribes of Zebulon and Ephalae settled. And so it was in northern Israel, and that’s where those tribes settled when they came into the Promised Land. So Jesus was up in that northern area around Galilee and the northern part of the Sea of Galilee that it might be fulfilled, which is spoken by Isaiah the prophet saying, the land of Zebulon and the land of Ephalaeum, by the way of the sea, the Sea of Galilee, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles.

So the Gentiles were pretty much up in that area. And also we find here it says that the people which sat in darkness saw great light. And to them which sat in the region in the shadow of death, light is sprung up. And so here it talks about Christ being the light of the world. And here Jesus brings light where there was spiritual darkness. Many years, people talked about Africa as being the dark continent, and it was talking about spiritual darkness.

Obviously, you know, sunlight shines there just like it does everybody else. And there’s a beautiful, beautiful places in Africa. But for a long time, spiritually, Africa wasn’t really open to the gospel of Jesus Christ. And today, of course, it’s gotten a foothold in many places. In fact, it’s said that Kenya sends out more missionaries to the rest of the world than almost any other country in the world, and then a blessing to know that God is working in Africa today and people are coming to know Christ and the gospel is spreading.

Here was a region in northern Israel that was called a land that was in darkness, and America is getting more into darkness, isn’t it? Wow. We’re seeing the shift moving. I was learning today, I heard on the radio earlier this morning, about how our Supreme Court justices are appealing to foreign law to make our decisions in this country. Did you hear that? And what a tragedy, because what’s happening is the Constitution of the United States is being pitched out by our high court.

So, there’s no such thing as soul sleep. Their souls are very much conscious and awake and alive. That’s Luke 16, verse 19 to the end of the chapter. But the body is spoken of in sleep. He can tell the resurrection. And so here are the people at Thessalonians. And I can work curious about what happened to those loved ones who had died. And he says, I want to let you know so that you don’t sorrow, even as those which have no hope.

And of course, I was talking about the return of Christ, this expectation that you and I have of Christ returned. Here’s the key. Verse 14, verse Thessalonians 4, 14 says, if we believe, if we believe, if we believe, If we believe that Greek word believe means to trust. If we trust, look at what it says, that Jesus died and rose again. That’s the gospel. That’s the key to being saved. That’s the key to being in the Rapture. And if you have believed or trusted that Jesus died for you and shed his blood and paid your sin debt and full was buried in rose again for today, my friend, you’re going to be in the event called the Rapture.

And guess what? already died? 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 9 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 Are with the Lord right now and they’re coming back. We’re in verse 14. Most people miss it. They go right over it If we believe that Jesus died and rose again verse 14 of 1st thessalonians chapter 4 Even so them also which sleep in Jesus will what God bring with him though already with him and when Jesus comes back God will bring their souls with him when he comes back in that interesting it says here in my Bible If we believe that Jesus died in rose again, even some of them which also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Now, a few verses later we see Jesus coming back and of course Jesus is God. And here’s another wonderful affirmation of the deity of Christ because when Jesus comes back, God is coming back. Jesus is the God man and he comes back and brings with him the souls of those that have already died. Their bodies are spoken of as sleeping. And so what happens at the event when he shouts their new bodies spring forth from the earth and meet their souls in the air and They’re reunited soul and body forever never look at verse 16 For the Lord himself should descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of the Archangel with the trump of God and The dead in Christ so rise first what’s that talking about talking about the bodies the bodies have been spoken of as sleeping in the grave Their souls are alive and present and conscious with the

Lord When he comes back, he brings those souls with him, verse 14. And when he shouts in the upper atmosphere, their bodies rise up from the earth and meet their souls, and their reunited soul and body. Then here’s the verse that concerns you and me, because if we’re alive, we could be in this event that’s described in verse 17 of 1 Thessalonians 4. Then we, which are alive and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds.

Then we, which are alive and remain. That’s the rapture. We caught up. The word rapture means caught up. And we’ll be caught up together with them. Who’s the them? The them is those that have already died who are with the Lord that Jesus brings back with him when he comes. They get their resurrection bodies first and then we follow and in the twinkling of an eye, we’re caught up and transformed into our new bodies. And it says in the last phrase, so shall we be ever with the Lord.

So shall we be ever with the Lord. In other words, forever and ever for that point on, you’ll never be separated from the Lord at all for even a second. And then in verse 18 it says, Wherefore comfort one another with these words. What great words of comfort they are, because we know we’re going to be a part of a great reunion one day when all the believers of all the ages will meet in the atmosphere in the clouds above the earth.

And those that have died will come back with Christ and their new bodies will rise up from the earth and we which are live and remain will be caught up together and meet them and be transformed on the way up. Whoo! That’s going to be a great day. I’m going to give everybody a high five on the way up. It’s going to be great. I’m Dr. Engleman, this is my blind. I hope you’ve trusted Jesus as your Savior and if you have, you’re going to be in the Rapture.

There’s no doubt about No doubt about it. Every believer is going to be caught up to be in that rapture. This is Bibleline. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming. And we believe He’s coming soon.
