You can actually go to our worship service on Sunday morning live at 11 o’clock. Click on the camera on the home page and you’ll be able to, when the actual message begins, catch the audio and the video. Well, we’re going to go ahead and take a look at our Bibles. If you have your Bible, they’re open if you will to the book of Galatians.
Galatians and turn, if you will, to chapter 5 of the book of Galatians. Those books, they’re four little ones, they’re Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, the way I memorize the order of those four books is by a little jingle, general, electric, So you can easily remember the order of relations, Ephesians, Flipids, Closins by General Electric Pepsi Cola. Give that a try. In Galatians chapter 5 and verse 1 it says, stand fast therefore in the Liberty where with Christ hath made us free and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
And that yoke of bondage by the way is the law. It’s works and we have been set free. Once you have trusted Christ, you have been set free. The Bible says you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. And you know what a wonderful freedom it is to know that you’re not going to hell, that your sins are forgiven, that you are a child of God, that you can know that you’re saved and you can know that you’re going to have it in.
When you die, you’ll be absent from the body, you’ll be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5, 8. What a great truth that is. But all the time, it seems like the devil is active to get people to go back and try to add works to salvation. And verse 2 tells us, and this is a powerful verse, Galatians 5-2 says, Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if you be circumcised, if you be circumcised, now circumcision was not not only the act that was performed on a young male child, but also then designated those who were law keepers from those that were not law keepers or the Jews from the Gentiles.
The circumcise were those that were keeping the law and the uncircumcised were those who were not under the law. And so generally speaking, the circumcision referred to the Jews and the uncircumcision referred to the Gentiles. In 1 Corinthians 7, 19 is a great verse. It says circumcision and uncircumcision is nothing but the keeping of the commandments of the law. So that’s really what this is all about. And it says in verse 2, I Paul, say unto you that if you are keeping the law, if you’re circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
What an incredible verse. will profit you nothing and that’s of course if you are trusting in your works to be saved Christ will count nothing for you. What does that mean? That means you would go to hell. You won’t want that to happen to you. So it’s very important to recognize that we’re saved by faith in Christ apart from any works or without any works or Jesus alone is the Savior. And it says here, you have to make up your mind, you can’t have it both ways.
He says in verse 3, I testify again to every man that is a lawkeeper, that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. So if you’re going to keep the law, you have to keep the whole law in order to be saved. And the problem is with that is that no one has ever kept the law. Jesus said in John 7 19, he said, did not Moses give you the law? And yet none of you?
None of you? None of you have kept it? Jesus made it pretty plain. God gave the law through Moses to the Jewish people, but nobody has ever kept the law. Do you know of anybody He has kept the law? I don’t know of anybody except for Jesus Christ himself. Everyone else has broken the law. The Bible makes that very, very clear. Let me just ask you a question. Have you ever told a lie? If you’ve ever told one lie, you have broken the law.
And if you have broken the law, the penalty for breaking the law is death or separation from God in hell. In other words, one lie would be enough to send you to hell. Is that amazing? Did you know that before now? The Bible tells us in order to enter heaven, you’d have to be as righteous as God, and none of us are. And so if you’re attempting to be righteous by the law or by your works, you’re not going to make heaven.
You’re just not going to make it. And Paul is saying in verse 3 here, I testify again to every man that is trying to keep the law to be saved, and he’s indebted to do the whole law. In other words, you’d have to keep all the law perfectly every day of your life, all of your life, and if you ever just told one lie, you’d have to pay for that one lie by going to hell. In other words, nobody’s ever going to make it into heaven by their works.
A little bit earlier in Galatians it says in verse 11 of chapter 3, but that no man but that no man but that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident. Nobody has ever been saved by the law, and no man will ever be justified by the law in the sight of God and become eligible to go to heaven. Now here’s the verse that’s so interesting. Galatians 5, 4 says, Christ is become of no effect unto you.
Whose whomever of you are justified by the law, you are fallen from grace. Now what does it mean here that you’re fallen from grace? A lot of people take it that that means you can lose your salvation And that’s not what it’s saying at all in fact Grace and salvation are not the same thing In Titus 2 11 it says the grace of God That bringeth salvation has appeared to all men So we learn from Titus 2 11 that grace is what brings salvation to a person.
You cannot receive salvation by the law or by work, but by grace, this grace of God brings salvation to all men. But not everybody’s saved because not everybody receives the grace of God. Many are trusting to save themselves by their works, and therefore, according to this verse, they are fallen from grace. Grace and salvation are not the same thing. Titus 2.11, the grace of God, bring a salvation. It’s kind of like the water pipe brings water into your home.
But if you’re thirsty, you don’t try to bite down on the water pipe. You don’t try to drink the water pipe. You turn the little spigot connected to the water pipe and it allows the water to flow through the pipe and it’s the pipe that brings the water into your home. and then you can drink the water. But there’s a difference, isn’t there? So the same way, grace brings salvation, but grace isn’t salvation. And so when you turn the tap by trusting Christ as your only means of heaven, then God’s grace flows to you and you become saved.
But if you’re attempting to be saved by your works, Then you’re not going to be saved at all and that’s what it’s saying in Galatians 5 4 Christ has become of no effect unto you It says here you are falling from grace who is falling from grace? Well, this verse very clearly defines who is falling from grace because it says here Christ has become of no effect unto you and Notice to whom it is addressed Whosoever of you are justified by the law in other words if you’re trying to be justified by works or by the law you are are followed from grace.
You will have Christ count nothing for you. You will not inner heaven. You will be lost. And it’s talking here to those that are trying to be saved by work. So it’s not a saved person being lost that is talking about a lost person not becoming saved because they turn away from or fall from the grace that’s offered to them that brings salvation to all those that would place their trust in Christ. Verse 5 switches gears here and it talks about the believer we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith in contrast to those in verse 4 who are trying to be saved by their works.
It’s kind of interesting here, but if you’re rightly dividing the Bible, look at verse 4. It says several times, you, you, you, you, you, and in verse 5 it switches to we, we, we, we, we, we, we. it very carefully. You, you, you, you, in verse 4 and verse 5, we, we, we, we, we, we. Let’s take a look at it. Verse 4, Christ has become of no effect unto you. Now, who is the you? Well, it says here, whosoever of you that are justified by the law, you are fallen from grace.
So who’s fallen from grace? The lost person who’s trying to be saved by their works is fallen from grace, and he is the one that Christ will count nothing for, and that would mean obviously you would want to have in hell. But verse 5 now is talking to the believer and it says we, in the writer of the book of Galatians the Apostle Paul includes himself in that we, we through the spirit, wait for the hope of righteousness or the explication of righteousness by faith.
So verse 4 is to the lost, you, you, you, you. 5 is to the believer, we, we, we, we, we, and unless you pay close attention, you really will get all mixed up. I’ll never forget I was in a Christian bookstore and I overheard a conversation over in the next aisle where they were talking about losing your salvation and the one guy in order to defend his position said the Bible says clearly that you can fall from grace. I couldn’t stand it.
I walked around and I jumped into the conversation and I said, I couldn’t help but over here you guys discussing this doctrine. But I said, do you know where it says in the Bible you can fall from grace? Either one knew. I said, can we go ahead and look that up? Let’s go over to the Bible section and get a Bible. And I did and I pulled it off the shelf and I showed him Galatians 5.4. Galatians 5.4 is not talking about a safe person being lost, but a lost person never becoming saved.
It says Christ has become of no effect unto you. And who is the you, whosoever of you that are trying to be saved by works, are very justified by the law. You are the one who is lost. You are the one who has fallen from grace. And remember, grace is not salvation. Grace brings salvation, and they obviously reject salvation that comes by grace, by attempting to be saved by works. But verse 5 says, but we, the believer, through the Spirit, wait for the expectation of righteousness, how?
By faith. We become saved by faith. And once you trust the Lord, you can never be lost. You’re saved forever. Christ makes a promise in John 637 that Him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. And even better, in verse 39, He says, this is the Father’s will, John 639, that of all which He had given me Christ said I should lose none. None, none, not even one, but raise them up again at the last eight.
So according to John 639, if you have come to Christ, he will not lose you. In fact, if one person in all history were ever lost after they became saved, Christ would be a liar. The Bible would be wrong, and we might as well lie to match and walk away from it all. The promise is made that not not only would he not cast you out, but John 639, he would not lose you. In fact, he says, I will not lose one.
Not one person in all of history has ever been lost nor will ever be lost, because once you become saved, Christ not only saves you, but he keeps you saved in your save forever. I’m Dr. Inklyn from This is by Blood and we’re going to go to the phone lines here. If you want to call us, the number is 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. We hope you’ll give us a call. We’d love to hear from you and we’ll try to answer your question if we possibly can.
We have Yvonne in Hopewell, Virginia, and she says, could you please explain for me 2 Corinthians 7 verse 10. And so we’re going to turn over there and take this off air question. Thank you for calling in with that question, Ivan. This is 2 Corinthians 7, and it says in verse 10, for Godly sorrow, work of repentance to salvation, not to be repentant of. Well, there’s several things going on here. It says here, notice that sorrow is not repentance.
It says, Godly sorrow, Look at repentance. Now that word repent there comes from the Greek word metanoia and it means a change of mind. So it’s saying here that in some cases godly sorrow can bring about a change of mind repentance to salvation. Then the phrase there not to be repented of is a metanilitos in the Greek and it means irrevocable. It means that God does not change his mind and once you become saved, God will not lose you.
So it’s saying here that once, if Godly Saul brings about that change of mind that brings about salvation when you trust Christ as your Savior, it is irrevocable. It’s a change of mind that cannot be undone. Once you trust Christ, you can never be lost. This is a verse where it says here not to be repented of, which means irrevocable. It’s a mecha milatasa in the Greek. It’s in Romans 11, 29, which is a favor versus mine, one of my favorites.
And it says over here that if you have trusted Christ, you’re stuck. You have to have a holy like it or not. Let me quote the exact verse. This is Romans 11, 29. And it says, the gifts and calling of God. Now, salvation is referred to as the gift of God. So the gifts which the gift of God is eternal life, it says here, and the calling of God are without repentance. Those two words without repentance are the same, a metabilitas, only two times in a New Testament is it used.
And it means here that there is no change of mind or that it’s irrevocable. So it’s really saying here and it could be translated. The gifts and the calling have got are irrevocable. In other words, once you receive the gift of God, once you become saved, I tell people you’re stuck. You have to go to heaven whether you like it or not. So I hope that helps Yvonne is saying here that Godly sorrow can bring about a change of mind to salvation where you trust Christ as your Savior.
But then you cannot undo that because it is not changeable. It says A-meta-militase. And meta means change and A in front of it means no change. And so once you do change your mind and trust Christ, then it’s impossible to reverse it. It’s irrevocable. You cannot obviously be lost once you become safe. We’re now going to go to Jacksonville, Florida. We have an anonymous caller and welcome to my blinder on the air. Good morning Dr. Lester. I’m glad you talked about that this morning because I was reading through the particular denominations doctoring last night and I was a little bit disturbed by what I read about them.
They said they do not believe in the ones they’ve always saved fear. See if I can try to explain this quickly if I can hang up and listen to you. I’m in the car driving if I don’t have a doctoring with me. They do basically say that they believe that you can be lost, that once you make a decision to be saved, that you could still lose your salvation. They use two different verses. I think one was in the book of Revelation someplace where it says that your name can be taken from the book of life.
And I think the other one was in Hebrew, the lecture where it says that they were once believers and then turned away. So they’re using that to show that you can be a lost like by choice, that you start to and you’re not allowing the Holy Spirit to bring you into a state of true repentance and regeneration and basically you’re choosing to not live a holy life once you were saved. You continue to go out and commit to saying that sins that you were always doing therefore you’re rejecting the Holy Spirit to lead you into a state of holiness so you choose to be lost.
So they use those in cheaper where it says you were one believer, they were one believer among us and they left and then the second was about revelation where they take your name of life on shit already gone well obviously uh… that is uh… totally false uh… it would contradict everything else in the bible well in revelation when talked about your name being bought out that’s talking about an unbeliever who dies in unbelief and his name is stricken from the book at the moment of death once you become a believer revelation three five says that he says i will not bled out your name out of the book of life so believe it will never have his name come out of the book but the unbelievable have his name stricken at death because he is not trusted the lord in the book of Hebrews is talking there about
believers who maybe get away from the lord but they have to not get serving again not go back and try to become safe again because it says it’s impossible in chapter six to become saved again once you become lost. I think she was talking about the assemblies of God. And obviously that doctor is wrong. Any church that teaches you can lose your salvation is teaching false doctrine because when you think about it, it’s talking about works. They’re saying that from this point right now where you are until the day you die that if you live your life faithfully, you’ll go to heaven but if you don’t, in your backsliding You’ll go to hell.
That works because that means what you do between now and death determines your salvation That makes you the Savior not Christ And obviously it’s works and there’s no other way to explain it. So that’s false doctrine Major false doctrine if a church believes you can lose your salvation We’re gonna see say goodbye to Miami for the first half hour, but we’re glad now We have a second half hour so you Miami folks can come back and catch us again for another half hour We have Albert in Richmond, Virginia and Albert welcome the Bible and you’re on the air.
Yes sir, I missed your program for about a week but I try to ask you to be one question you know what a day to be considered a yellow collar. Didn’t you say in 1 Corinthians 14 that the reason unknown is an italics because it’s unknown to the speaker and if that’s so then how do you know that? It’s unknown to the hearer. The word unknown in every case there is in italics. That means it’s not in the original manuscripts.
The italicized words in the Bible are added by the translators to try to make the sense of the verse clear. And what they were trying to let us know was that if you’re speaking a known language to a group that doesn’t understand it, it’s unknown to the hearer. The real gift of tongues was always a known language. He was telling the Corinthians to think about what they were doing. He said, except he speak by the tongue words, easy to be understood.
How shall it be known when it is spoken? What they were doing in the Corinthians Church was speaking a foreign language that nobody understood. They should have been speaking in Greek, there in Corinth, Greece. He was speaking in a foreign language that nobody understood. He said, you’re wasting everybody’s time. So in every case a language that was unknown to the hearer, it was unknown language but unknown to the hearer and that’s the misuse in Corinthians I was talking about.
When it were in Acts 2 3, yes that word is dialect, isn’t it? Yeah absolutely and Acts chapter 2 at Pentecost, the Greek word is dialectos and it means a specific dialect of a specific language and so there’s no gibberish here at all. Right, thanks for making it. You’re welcome. Thank you for calling. That was from Richmond, Virginia, Albert, calling in. We’re going to have to go to break here and do a second and a half hour. Well, good morning and welcome to Bibleline. This is Dr. Ankerman. It’s Monday the 6th of October, 2008. We are giving you an update because I am not doing a live program today because I am still in the hospital with it. They should be today. They’ll finally find out what they’re going to do with me. So pray for me and my family, pray for Biblelines and pray for great months of your old radio on Bibleline radio. We will be covering a number of things this month.
This is the most profitable day of the day. the most probable birth date a month of price. We believe that he was born probably on the Feast of Tabernacles, which is this month. And we’ll talk about how you can… talk very interesting to find a Nick Rice was born or not in December. Anyway it’s good to be with you and I wanted to let you know that I’m okay even though I’ve been poked and blood taken and actually is taken and temperatures taken and blood taken and everything else but I’m surviving.
So pray for me and if you can, keep listening to Bibleline. I appreciate all the cards and calls that we’ve gotten. We’ve gotten so many people who have been to Bible Life and they are passed on to me. And I appreciate that very, very much. So you are welcome to send the card to Bible Life if you like and I love to hear from you. And in the case, I hope you have a wonderful day and I want to hold a week program on now and we’ll play one of our best stuff.
Thank you. 63771. And Robert, welcome to Bibleline from Petersburg, Virginia. Robert, you’re on it. Hey, good morning. I first have a question. I think I’m here for you to say you have a book that explains every verse or every line in the Bible, is that true? We do. That’s the Jameson Foset Brown commentary. We have it for a gift of $100 to buy a line. I think it goes for $140 or $50 in the bookstore in the regular bookstore and our bookstore goes for $100 and that’ll help buy a line a little bit too.
So we can call and order that later after the program and we invite you to do that. My question is could you explain the beat? Revelation chapter 12 on and 10. Okay, I’ll be happy to do that. Revelation 12 verses 9 and 10 is talking here in Revelation 12 about the nation of Israel and that during the tribulation period after the rapture that there is going to be a battle over the atmosphere around the earth. And if you notice what it This is the first verse 9, which says that Great Dragon was cast out, identified as being the devil and Satan who is the one who deceives the whole world, and he is cast out onto the earth.
Now that happens three and a half years after the Rapture, dead center in the middle of the the Tribulation Period and the Antichrist or Satan rather will be losing the control of the airspace around the planet. In Ephesians 2-2, a Satan is called the Prince of the Power of the Year. He controls the atmosphere around the earth. But he is going to lose that as the way for Christ to come back and take over the earth is prepared during the Tribulation period.
And the first thing God is going to do here is take out his airspace and he’ll be cast down onto the earth. And then it says here in verse 10, I heard a loud voice. He is saying in heaven, now is come salvation and strength and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ for the accuser of our brethren is cast down. So let’s talk to you about how salvation will come now for the earth as Jesus will come back and deliver the earth from Satan’s power and also from the curse and the earth will be at peace one day.
And then it talks here about Satan being the accuser of believers, which he’s always doing that. He’s always accusing us before the Father. But Jesus Christ is our lawyer. He’s our advocate, 1 John 2-2. And 1 John 2-1, it says that he is the one who advocates for us before the Father. When Satan says that you or I should be cast into hell, Jesus says that’s true, but I’ve paid for their sins and so they’re not going to go to hell because I have forgiven them and I’ve given them the gift of everlasting life.
Hope that helps a little bit Robert. What I know a little thing. Hello? Yeah, go ahead. When they said cats down, they wasn’t not cats down from heaven dead. No, this is the atmosphere cabin around the earth. Oh, okay. And so this is not talking about heaven itself. This is something that’s featured, hasn’t happened. That happens in the middle of the tribulation and then you’ll notice Satan becomes very angry and he will attack the woman, which is Israel here and he tries to destroy Israel and that’s going to be a terrible horrible time for Israel another Holocaust and But there will be a remnant that will be miraculously protected in verse 14 It talks about a place where God will nourish them for three and a half years and care for them.
And that’s the Rock City of Petra, I think, in Southern Jordan, where the Jews in Israel will flee across the border and be protected and fed as what God once said before with the manna in the Willows and the Old Testament. And thank you very much. You’re welcome, Robert. And that was Robert in Petersburg. We don’t have Mary, and she’s somewhere in Florida. I don’t know. I guess our operators didn’t get the city. But Mary, welcome to my boy.
Hi. Thank you, first of all, for your ministry, on the radio, and your patience. And I was thinking about the earlier callers when they called about Philip and his preaching. He went down to Samaria of Acts, chapter 7. Yes, chapter 8. Oh, 8. And it says that he in verse 12, he preached things concerning the kingdom and the name of Jesus. And back in Matthew 10, Jesus tells the 12 not to go to the Gentiles or the city of Samaritan.
So I wonder, would you comment on that please? Now hang up. Okay. Actually, God’s program changed. When Christ was here, he was offering the Kingdom to the Jews. They were not to bring the offer of the Kingdom to the Gentiles or to the Samaritans, but to Israel only. It says in Matthew 10, go not into the way of the Gentiles or into the way of the Samaritans, but go rather to the law-sheep of the house of Israel. They were to preach the message of the Kingdom being at hand that Christ was here on the the king, and had they received him as their king, he would have established their, the kingdom had been promised to Israel.
That’s still going to happen in his second coming, but it has been postponed. And so, about halfway through Matthew we find Christ then rejected by the Jews and he turns to the Gentiles and announces that there will be this church age. in Matthew 16 he says, I’ll build my church. This is a Gentile age. The church is comprised of Jews and Gentiles in one body. So the message now goes out to the whole world and goes to the Gentiles.
Jewish people still get saved, but they get saved through Gentile languages and through the Gentiles. The whole gift of tongues was to facilitate that from day one on Pentecost when in order for Jews to hear the Gospel and the Gentile language God had to give the miraculous gift which was rendered unnecessary as the Gospel went out further and further in the Gentile territory. So Mary, that’s really what’s going on there in the book of Acts. Alright, we now have Liz and she is in Prince George, Virginia and Liz, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Good morning. There are some verses in the Bible. Let’s say he who endures to the end shall lose. I’m sorry. He who endures to the end shall be saved. And these verses are sometimes used by those who believe that you can lose your salvation as proof. But what do these verses really mean? Very good question. And the answer is talking about those living in the tribulation period that if they live to the end of the tribulation period, they will be saved physically to live into the month.
Let me take you over to Matthew 24 and I’ll share with you that verse. It says in Matthew 24, 13, he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Now, if you go over to verse 21, it talks about, for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world of this time, no nor shall ever be, and except those days should be shortened, and they will be. By the way, Christ comes back and ends the tribulation period in just seven years.
If He allowed it to go on, and if He allowed the battle of Armageddon to go on, uninterrupted, mankind would be destroyed, and there would be nobody left alive on the earth. And that’s what it’s saying here, except those days should be shortened. There should no flesh be what? Saved. So it’s talking about the flesh, and it says, but for the Alexate, these days shall be shortened. So what it’s saying here is that those living in the tribulation period, if they manage to endure the plagues, the earthquakes, the judgments, the battle of Armageddon and so on, they will be physically saved to live into the Millennial Kingdom.
And it’s not talking about eternal salvation here. So it’s not talking about hanging on there to stay saved and go to heaven. It’s talking about if you’re living in the tribulation period and you manage to endure to the end of it, stay alive, you will be then one of the subjects that will enter into that does your kingdom of Christ that is promised and will take place in the second coming. Okay. Now what if you become a believer during the tribulation and your life is taken?
Well, then you just go to heaven. But you if you’re going to be one of the subjects in the millennium, you have to be alive. And obviously the battle of Armageddon is going to take a lot of lives and the tribulation period will take a lot of lives. In fact, I think billions we’re really going to die. And so not many will survive. But there will be a remnant of believers that will enter into that thousand years. And it’s just simply telling us that the ones who endure to the end of the tribulation, then will live to live into the millennium.
And it’s talking about their flesh. It’s not talking about my eternal salvation. It’s talking about their physical life. Okay. Thank you very much. You’re very welcome. This tithe verse 13 with verse 22 draw a line between him and you got it made. Thank you. Thank you Liz. All right. That was Liz in Prince George, Virginia We now have Matthew in the Spring Hill, Florida Matthew welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air Morning and calm in a Scofield introduction to the book of just as that he believes that the answer is basically there’s no Reference to the law in in any of those chapters and so many believe this is one of the earliest written books in the bible preceding all the others.
Even though Genesis records events earlier, the Book of Job is probably one of the very earliest books. If you’ll notice the dating that most Bibles have in the margin in the center column of the Book of Job, it puts it back about 3500 years ago. So it’s an old old book. And there’s no mention of the Tabernacle or Mount Sinai or any of the laws and it appears that we’re living before that. When they came to worship, it didn’t talk about the tabernacle or the temple which happened much later, but there was a place where the sons of God or the believers came to worship the Lord.
That’s typical of what we see from even Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel. They brought a sacrifice to the Lord, there was an appointed place to come. But later became the tabernacle and later the temple in Jerusalem. So I believe that is the answer there. Want to welcome our new areas. Let me give you that phone number in case you’d like to call in. We’d love to hear from you folks up in Evansville, Indiana and that surrounding character and also those of you listening up in Huntington and Charlotte, West Virginia.
Our phone number here is 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. And we’d like to have somebody call us and just say, hey, you’re on the air. We’re hearing the program. Give us a call. 1-800-576-3771. And we would love to hear from you. Well, we have Jeff in Paul Barber says, define repent. It sounds like when one repents in the New Testament, they repent from a negative behavior. Well, if you read your Bible carefully in the book of Acts, it’s always a change of mind about who Christ is.
When Peter preached on the day of Pentecost, they had crucified Christ because they thought he was a fraud and imposter blasphemer. But Peter points out that he’s the Messiah in his back from the dead, just as the Prophet said, soul told would happen. And they said, what should we do? Peter said, change your mind. And I think you referenced here, Revelation 2, 21. Let me turn over and see what that verse has to say. But it can be about other things than salvation.
But repentance just simply means a change of mind, no matter where you are in the adjustment. In Revelation chapter 2 and verse 21 it says, and I’m almost there, and I gave her space to repent of her fornication, and she repented not. So here it’s talking about change of mind. And again, by the way, if you read the context here, the fornication was not physical fornication, but it was spiritual fornication where they turned away from the living God and were worshiping false gods and idols.
And they needed to change their mind about their false belief system and become saved. So it wasn’t talking about having sex here. In fact, the Bible talks about spiritual adultery. Israel was called the harlot. Why? Because Israel had intercourse with other nations that had false gods and false belief systems and they played the harlot, the Bible says. And here in Revelation 2, it’s talking about the dark ages where the church departed from the Word and were committing spiritual portification.
They needed to change your mind about that and come back to Jesus as the Savior and trust Him in Him alone. So Jeff, I hope that helps. But that’s really what is talking about. The word of that means a change of mind, but you have to read the context sometimes to figure out what is really going on there. Jose down in Hialeah, Florida calls in with this offer of question, please explain Jesus Jesus’ comment, my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
That he spoke on the cross. And I believe what he’s saying there is, as the man Jesus becomes sinned for you and me and our sins are laid upon him, God turned his back on him and forsook him. And that is really what spiritual death is all about. Just what like Adam in the garden sinned and God turned is back on Adam and no longer fellowship with Adam in the cool garden. So Jesus, as the sacrifice for our sins, also experienced being rejected by the Lord and God turned his back on him, which is spiritual death, and he is letting us know that that was taking place on the cross.
But this is Jesus as a man calling up to God as he also had God as his father as a man and It was the man who, the sinless man, the God-man who would die to pay for your sins of mind. So he’s talking about his rejection there on the cross. We have an anonymous caller here. By the way, the phone number again here is 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. Anonymous caller calls in and says, when married, a man and his wife become as one.
What happens to that oneness when they die and go to heaven? Well you’re no longer married in heaven. In Matthew 2230 Jesus says that in heaven will be as the angels are that they are not given in marriage nor do they marry. So there will be no marriage in heaven. So you will recognize I think your wife or husband and you’ll recognize your children and we’ll recognize each other in heaven. But you’ll no longer have the husband-wife relationship. There’ll be no more sex or children being born during the millennium.
So this will have to realize it is going to pass. We’re all going to be brothers and sisters in God’s family and will not be husband and wife any longer in heaven. So Matthew 22.30. I hope that helps for the anonymous call that called in with that one. We’re now going to go back to Jacksonville, Florida, and we have anonymous again. Welcome to Vibelan. Good. Hi. I just want to ask you a question. When you explain about repentance, meaning just the change of mind, so are you saying that if a person, wouldn’t you say that if a person truly repents?
And if you’re changing your mind about God through the power of the Holy Spirit because He’s the one that actually empowers us to change our mind and to want to know Him? Wouldn’t that result in a change of action? Not necessarily. Now, when you trust the Lord of Savior, when you change your mind about how to become saved and trust Jesus as your Savior, God the Holy Spirit comes into you and gives you the power to have victory over sin.
But the Bible know where it says that your life is necessarily going to change in a positive way. You have examples in the Bible. For example, Lot was the Bible that calls him a righteous man, but he lived and saw him And he obviously had no testimony at all living in Sodom. And he went down, down, down, and away from the Lord his life, wound up in ruin, all of his treasures were earthly, and he lost them when Sodom was burned up.
He lost all of his savings in the first national bank of Sodom, and he lost his home, his bow, his car, and I’m teasing, of course. And he wound up living in a cave in Zohar and his two daughters get him drunk and have children buy them and he committed and says, not a real example. I don’t find too many people are naming their kids a lot. But if you read the Corinthian letters, two long letters written because these were believers, but they were still living in all kinds of sin, and their lives apparently were not changing.
The books were written to encourage them to do it and tell them how that they were responsible. They’re going to be cheated of rewards in heaven if they don’t live in the Lord. Plus they’re going to incur God’s discipline upon their life. He’ll spank them, maybe even take them home to heaven early. But they would still be saved. So the Christian made the side not to live for Christ. And there are penalties. For example, 1 Corinthians 5, 1 talks about a man living in adultery with his stepmother.
And he’s proud and puffed up and he’s not remorseful about that at all as a believer. And it says verse 5, verse 3 and it’s 5, to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh. In other words, let Satan take his life that the spirit may be saved in the day of Lord Jesus. So when Jesus returns, this man will be saved, but God allowed Satan to take his life. Maybe he died of some sexual disease.
I don’t know. But in any case, he went home to heaven soon and he should have because he was going to be persistent living a sinful life which you cannot get away with. But a Christian can go either direction. Okay, but even though we’re not the Bible, also teaches that we are all. Well, that’s not true either. You know, it says you’ll know them by their fruits, not by their works. And it’s not talking about their fruit of the Spirit, which is the fruit of the Spirit is the fruit that the Spirit bears when we yield our lives to obey Him.
But the fruit of the Christian, talking, and you’re talking about Matthew 7 and passages where it really tells you how to identify a false teacher. It says that they come in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are raving in wolves, and by their fruit you shall know them. Then it talks about gathering grapes. You don’t get them off of a thistle bush, but you get them off a great bind. So if you are testing whether somebody is a false teacher, all you have to do is examine the fruit that comes to your door.
For example, when the Jehovah’s Witnesses come to my door, I don’t have to go to the Watchtower Society up in Brooklyn, New York. I can examine those two Jehovah’s Witnesses at my door and ask them a couple of good questions and find out that they are corrupt fruit and therefore the whole organization is corrupt the tree that they came off of. Hopefully if you interview anybody that I’ve led to Christ, hopefully you’ll find that they believe the Bibles are the word of God, that God exists as a triune being, that Jesus Christ is God who took on flesh, that salvation is by faith and cannot be lost, and on and on and on.
Hopefully you’ll find that my fruit is good fruit because it’s coming off a good tree. And that’s what is talking about, not the fruit of the Spirit. In Galatians 5, which is the passage you’re referencing there about the fruit of the Spirit, it talks about the believer can go either way. In verse 18, he warns about if you go after the flesh, then you’re going to reap the results of the flesh in your life, which is murder and strife and envyings and revelings and drunkenness and all those kind of things.
But if you yield your life to obey the Spirit, then the Spirit will manifest His fruit in your life, which is love and joy and peace and long suffering and gentleness and so on. So it’s not saying that you can get away with living with you, please. But it does say that you can go to the Spirit and live with Him. either way as a Christian and if you read the Corinthians letters, many of those were going in the wrong direction.
But they were still saved. Now I advocate everybody live for the Lord. So obviously I encourage people to live for Christ and that’s where the blessings are and that’s where the fruit is. But if you don’t, you’re still saved. But you might wind up in heaven soon and you’re playing on going. I’ve buried a lot of people that were christian but we’re not living for the lord and i believe the lord took them out uh… the i’m from a christian’s in their twenties that that should have uh…
died at all but if i’ve turned to god wouldn’t that mean that i’ve turned no not uh… from the well whatever you’re previously trusting him but not turned to him from uh… from anything else they the turning is uh… the way we can’t use the change in mind i’m out of time and i wish i had more time to talk with you about this But we’ll be back again tomorrow.
