By the way, we have lots of wonderful tools for the holidays to win your friends to Christ and we have the Am I going to Heaven track which is a absolutely incredible gospel track, none better in the world. And this one almost does the job for you. In fact, sometimes it does.
We’ve had many people get saved just by reading the track, just hand it to them and let it go. But sometimes it is a great guide to lead a person to Christ going through the answers there in the track. There’s a quiz and the answers are wrong and then inside there are explanations and scripture why they’re wrong and then you can guide them to the correct answer which is Jesus Christ is the Savior. When you trust in His death and shed blood and the fact that He was buried in rose again from it and God saves those that believe that gospel message.
We have a second, am I going to heaven that I just recently wrote? This one has a different set of questions, more contemporary terms that are used throughout Christianity and it is a great, not only. to get people saved, but also to help clarify them on terms that they should not use when they’re evangelizing because they’re adding works. to salvation or using a false invitation to the gospel. So those tracks are available in bundles of 100. We also have a free ticket track in bundles of 500.
They’re available also. And these are great tools to put in your Christmas cards. A lot of people are using our CD, How Permanent is Your Salvation. And this one has led thousands to Christ. And a lot of people are putting it in cards or gifts. He said, I want to say that you might get some of these to try to win some of your friends of Christ by getting that CD in their hands. We hear almost daily of people getting saved through the CD we call how permanent is your salvation.
You might want to get some of those for the holidays to send out with your gifts or your cards and evangelize your family and friends and lead them to Christ. How great that would be for them to receive at Christmas the gift of God which of course is eternal life. We also have a lot of teachings that are a great gift as well. On CD we have the book of Revelation, the book of Daniel, Hoddle leads souls to Christ, the rapture, the Holy Spirit and about forty different topics and You’ll find them very powerful.
The book of Jude, the book of Romans, the book of Hebrews, all on CD. And now the latest two classes we’ve just done of 10 hours of teaching are now available not only on CD but available on DVD. And they can be obtained and you can watch as well as hear the message delivered. We’re going to talk about the Bible for a little bit and then we’re going to go to the the phone lines, you can dial us up at 1-800-576-3771.
That’s 1-800-576-3771. When I was a little boy, I was invited in our church to invite Jesus into my heart. You know, that expression is used, is more popular, perhaps, than any other so-called gospel imitation. But did you know that it’s totally wrong? That’s right, you heard me, that to tell someone to invite Christ into their heart is wrong. It is not in the Bible. Some of you might get defensive, I can see some of you lifting up your arms and clenching your fist.
Well, in any case, I heard it all my younger years. Every Sunday morning in our church, we would sing a chorus during the morning service, And it would go like this, into my heart, into my heart, come into my heart, Lord Jesus, come into day, come into stay, come into my heart, Lord Jesus. Well, that was ingrained in me. We did that every Sunday. And our church offered a moment of silence where everybody was told to invite Jesus into their heart.
I did that sincerely every Sunday for at least from the time I was six until I was eighteen, and yet I was never saved. My prayers were all based upon that chorus, which is terribly unscriptural. I would pray something like, Lord, please come into my heart, and please would you stay. Lord, if you came into my heart in the past and you left, would you come back into my heart and this time would you stay? And I had a whole series of little prayers, trying to cover all the bases based upon this chorus, which is totally wrong because Christ doesn’t leave once you become saved.
And in any case, it wasn’t until I was 18 that I learned that you’re not saved by inviting Christ into your heart. You have to trust T-R-U-S-T, the gospel message. You have to trust that Jesus died and shed his blood was buried and rose again from the dead in order to be saved. And to invite Christ into your heart or ask Christ to come into your heart is not the means of salvation. It’s clearly absolutely wrong. There is no verse in Scripture where you’re told to invite Christ into your heart.
That’s right. It’s not there. And amazingly, you can ask God to be saved. And not be saved. I was reading the story in Luke 23 of the crucifixion and I noticed as I read carefully that both thieves asked to be saved. Did you know that? Both thieves asked to be saved, but only one thief was saved. Which one? The one that trusted Christ as Savior. In other words, the only answer to salvation is to trust that Christ died and shed his blood to pay your sin debt to the Lord.
and full was buried and rose again from the dead. You can ask God to come into your heart. You can weep and gnash and pull your hair and plead with God to come into your heart. But guess what? Unless you trust that he died and shed his blood at the cross, you will not be saved. It’s interesting that how many people have been caught up with this, and usually they say, oh, there is a verse. And it’s Revelation 3, 20.
But if you read that verse carefully, It’s not talking about inviting Christ in your heart. It says, Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If you read the context, Jesus is speaking to the church at Laodicea, and He’s inviting those believers who were saved to allow Him to come into their church and into their fellowship and fellowship with them. He says, Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear my voice and will open the door, I will come into him and will supple with him.
Supp means having supper. It has to do with fellowship. It has to do with communion. It has to do with the Christian life. Has nothing to do with salvation. And so Christ was standing outside of the church, knocking on the church door, hoping that somebody would ask him to come in and fellowship with them. And that is of course true to this very day. Many churches leave Christ out of their activities. Many Christians leave Christ out of their life and he wants to fellowship with you.
But it has nothing to do with salvation. The people that they did see were already saved and yet they excluded Christ from their fellowship. And he says, I will come in and sup with you. has to do with having a meal, having conversation, having fellowship, and having communion with Christ in not a salvation verse at all. Revelation 3.20 is not a salvation verse. You are not saved when you invite Christ in your life. Now, if you go from in my own personal experience, from the time I was 6 to 18, that’s 12 years, and I was in church every Sunday unless I I was deathly ill.
So let’s say I was in Church 50 Sundays a year. For 12 years I invited Christ into my heart. You multiply that out and that’s 15 times 12 or 600 times I invited Christ into my life. Wow. And yet he never came in because I never understood the gospel that I had to trust that he died died for me and shed his blood and paid my sin debt and full and was buried and rose again from the dead. So I invited Christ into my heart numerous times, but yet I was never, ever saved.
So hundreds and hundreds of times I did it, and I did it every way I knew how, but yet I was not saved. and get saved until I was 18, and I finally heard the gospel message that I had to trust that Jesus died for me. You know, with this other, this invitation that is being used by many churches today, you can bypass the cross, you can bypass the blood of Christ, you can bypass the grave and the resurrection.
All you have to do is invite Jesus into your heart. My friend, it is a false gospel. It is wrong, and you should not use it. If you’ve been using it, I would hope you would say, I will no longer use it. I will purge this from my speech. The Bible says in Acts 1631, believe, or the best English word to describe that is trust on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. How do we become saved by trusting that Christ died for our sins?
Well, in any case, I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom and this is Bibleline. I’m pleading for the souls of men and women. Maybe you have been out there and you’ve been inviting Christ into your heart like I did for hundreds of times over a dozen years and yet I was never saved. Thank God. I finally heard what I had to do. That was to believe or trust on the Lord Jesus Christ and I would be saved. I hope you’re saved and I hope you’re sure of going to heaven.
I’m Dr. Engvenstern, this is By Blind, we’re going to go to the phone lines and we have in Bay City, Florida a Reverend Jones on the line and Reverend Jones welcome to By Blind Year on the air. How you doing Dr. Helm? Good. Or years. You still friend with what you’ve been saying and I’m still friend with what I’ve been saying. Okay, now I prayed about this and this is the conclusion that I’ve been hearing. that come up with, that I have reason to believe that you have an unforgiven spirit in you from childhood when you was tormented in a church that it seemed like.
And you need to forgive those people who did this to you because it’s not here from you at all. You know, now this way you were talking about the heart, they were singing a song, that was a song. It was all a song, it was only a song. But that’s all the doctrine we got in our church was that song. We never were taught the Bible and the only theology I had was come into my heart, come into my heart, Lord Jesus, come in today, come in to stay.
The song implied that he could come and leave and I took that song to heart as biblical theology because that’s all we got in our church. We got very little. In fact, the pastor was not saved and I don’t believe anybody in our church was saved. And I believe there are many churches just like that where people are not saved. I thank God that I did hear the gospel, but it was not in my church. And if I had never heard it outside of my church, I probably would have still been unsaved to this very day.
And I plead for the souls of those that are in churches just like that that have been misled and have been mistaught and it’s clear that the Bible teaches that we have to believe or trust Christ as Savior in order to be saved. Inviting Christ in your life we can try to apologize for these people, but it was clearly wrong. Now I understand that they didn’t know any better because they weren’t saved themselves, But it’s interesting that when I did get saved, and I tried to present that to them, a lot of controversy came up.
And basically, we were excluded from that church, and our family wound up leaving because they obviously did not agree that you had to simply trust Christ to be saved. They stuck to their guns and said that you had to work your way to heaven and you had to invite Christ in your heart to be saved. And that was unfortunate. I would have probably stayed with that church and become a very active leader in that church had I stayed. But they excluded me and our family because we believed they said differently than they because we finally came to know the truth.
And of course, what I said to them was coming from the Bible. What they were saying to me came from other sources. Too often we learn from choruses and hymns and hymns are not inspired. Many times hymns are wrong. Many times in my church I will rewrite verses on the hymn to make sure that they are biblically in line with Scripture. sometimes we are singing words that are incorrect and if we’re not careful we might accept doctrines that are false because they come to us in another way.
And that is through songs or hymns or poems or dramas or television presentations and so on. And we need to be very careful that we don’t do that. So thank you very much for your call and obviously the fact that I was upset that I didn’t get saved there turned to compassion and I tried to lead as many of those people as I could to Christ. It didn’t He said, I believe we answered that question yesterday, so I’m going to pass on that.
It’s about predestination. that basically we needed to move on. And so our family did, and we found a great Bible-believing teaching church, and we’re excited about that. Off-air Carl calls in from Sarasota, Florida, and he says, and I believe we answered that question yesterday, so I’m going to pass on that. It’s about predestination and… and election, and that doctrine is pretty plain in the Bible. It says that whosoever would believe on Christ would be saved and whosoever would not believe on Christ would be lost.
And so God elected before the foundations of the earth to save all that would believe and not to save those that would not believe. So if you believe you’re chosen, if you don’t believe you’re not chosen, deal Moody said it like this, the Whosoever wills are the elect and the Whosoever wants are the non-elect. We’re gonna go now to Jim in St. Petersburg gym. Welcome to Bible Eye and you’re on the air. Thank you very much and good morning Dr.
Hank, how are ya? Good. Okay, I was just listening to the gentleman that called before, I guess your last one because that term will let you off. And I don’t wish to have a critical spirit, however, because of what you were saying about some of the hems and such. I’ve often wondered why your theme song is, I will cling to the old rugged cross. Well, I think in a Christian life, the cross is, of course, the center of our focus.
You know, when Paul, we’re not saved by clinging to the cross, were saved by trusting what happened on the cross. But you’ll notice, for example, even the Apostle Paul, after he was saved, talking about the Christian life, he says in verse 14 of Galatians 6, God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. So Paul didn’t say I’m gonna cling to my denomination or I’m gonna cling to my spiritual heritage or I’m gonna cling to my pastor But he says, I’m going to, God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ by whom the world is crucified unto me and I unto the world.
So the cross is central, and I think that that’s what the hymn writer had intended is that we’re not saved by clinging to the cross, but as a believer, that is where we need to focus. I’m glad I chose the name Calvary for my church because it’s a Calvary that Christ died. And that’s not only the focus of how to be saved, But it’s the focus of our Christian life afterwards, say, that it really all springs forth from what happened at the cross.
That’s what I understand. I understand that it’s the I will clean part that I didn’t understand because you know, you’re always talking about works as opposed to grace and so forth. And I would really like to hear you change it through amazing grace. There’s no greater song, no greater Christian song in the world. Well, that’s an amazing grace. It’s a great suggestion and you might find that I might do that. But thank you. Okay. Thank you for that opinion.
that’s what it does say. Maybe that is misleading. When people sing the Orgid Cross, since most people don’t have much theological teaching, they can’t seem to separate between salvation, which is what Christ finished at the cross. When he on the cross said it is finished, he meant our salvation was carefully accomplished. The sin that was paid in full by his death put the cross. But then afterwards saved, we’re noticed we’re told to take up his cross. We’re to proclaim the cross.
And as Paul said, that he wouldn’t glory in anything but the cross. In other words, that would be his focus of his Christian life. And as a Christian, one day we’ll stand before the Lord and be receiving rewards based upon our proclaiming Christ and focusing on the cross the rest of our Christian life. We’re saved by grace, but then our Christian life is that of proclaiming the cross of Jesus Christ. We have Tony in Richmond, Virginia, who calls in.
He leaves an off-air question and he’s asking about Matthew chapter 24, and he’s asking about verse 29 through 31. And so Tony, we’re going to turn to her right Now I’m looking to this. And verse 29 says, immediately after the tribulation period of those days, shall the sun be darkened. The moon shall not give her light, the stars shall fall from heaven, the powers of the heaven shall be shaken. We’re talking about when the rapture happens, there will be seven years of tribulation that will follow.
And immediately after the tribulation period, then the battle of Armageddon will occur, and the sun will be darkened, the moon shall not give her light, and the stars will fall from heaven, the powers of the heaven shall be shaken. Then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. That’s when Christ makes his appearance. He comes back in all of his power in all of his glory. You’ll notice it says in the last phrase, they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
So Christ will come back and rule and reign on the earth. Then it says he sends out his angels and they will gather the believers from one end of the earth to the other and gather them up, and they will be invited to enter into the thousand year reign of Christ here on the earth. We also find in chapter 13 of Matthew that the angels will round up the unbelievers. They’ll all be cast into the winepress of the wrath of God Almighty, and he will kill, slay every unbeliever on the earth, and only those that are believers will enter into the thousand year kingdom of Christ.
We have Kyle in Sarasota and Kyle, we have just a little bit before break. What is your question? The question is that the difference between trusting Christ and accepting Him in your heart. Can you explain a little deeper what the difference is? When you trust Christ, you’re trusting what He did for you at the cross, His death and shed blood. Accepting Christ into your heart, there’s no such thing in the Bible as accepting Christ into your heart. That’s just totally a man-made teaching.
And the thing is that when you trust Christ, he does come and dwell in your body. That is a consequence of salvation. Just like going to heaven is a consequence of salvation, but you’re not saved by asking for a consequence. I can say, God, take me to heaven and still wind up in hell. I must trust Christ to go to heaven. And I must trust Christ for him to come into my heart or life. But I’m not saved by asking him to come into my life or into my heart.
I’ll try to say more about that after the break, but we’re here on break. And thank you, Kyle, for that question. And we’ll try to pick up on it in a few minutes when we come back from break. We are simply trusting God every day and we trust that God will use you to help Bible line continue to be on the air and to expand and to take care of all of the bills of 2006 and end up going into 2007 with nothing left outstanding. Pray for Bibleline and also consider being a giver and helper of Bibleline as you partner with us to get the gospel message out. Just before the break, we had the question about the difference between trusting Christ and accepting Christ in your heart.
The second is of course just bad theology. Our heart is a pumping organ and we don’t accept Christ in our heart or our life or our acceptance or approval for Christ to come in doesn’t mean he comes in. There are, I have written a sheet called Born Again What Happened. You can pull it down off my internet site under Dr. Lynchham’s articles or you can call us and we’ll send you a copy. But I listed 39 things that happened and I stopped at 39 because it was a good number to stop at.
There are more than 39 things that happen that are all consequences of getting saved. You get saved when you trust Christ. You must trust in the substitutionary death of Christ. The gospel message is defined as Christ’s death, barrel, and resurrection. The Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15, 3, for I delivered unto you that which I also received how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and was buried and rose again according to the Scriptures. He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and Paul defines the gospel.
In that wonderful passage in 1 Corinthians 15, as the death, the barrel, the resurrection. The Bible says the gospel is the power of God and desalvation. In Romans 1 16 it says, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For it the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. So to be saved you must believe the gospel. And Romans 1 16 goes on to say to everyone that believeth. So when you believe the gospel, when you trust, as the better English word, that Christ died for your sins was buried in Rosogen from the dead, God saves you.
Then what happens? Christ does come in your body. Then are delivered from hell and will go to heaven. The Holy Spirit takes up residence in your body which becomes the temple of God. And there are dozens and dozens of things that become true that were not true prior to your trusting Christ as Savior. But today the devil is so clever he gets people to focus on a consequence of salvation. For example, obviously one of the consequences of going or trusting Christ is you will not go to hell.
But you can ask for the consequence and say, God, I don’t want to go to hell. I don’t want to go to hell. Oh, God, don’t let me go to hell. Oh, God, deliver me from going to hell. Oh, God, I want to go to heaven. And guess what? You could do that all your life is still going to hell. Unless you trust Christ, you will not have the consequence, which is that you would not go to hell. You might want to go to heaven and you might every day say, God, when I die, I want I want to go to heaven.
God, I want to go to heaven when I die. God, I don’t want to miss heaven. I want to go to heaven when I die. You could do that every day of your life and die and go to hell. Because unless you trust Christ, the consequence of trusting Christ that you would go to heaven and not go to hell would not be true for you. You could say, God, come into my life. I want to accept you into my life.
I want to accept you into my heart. You could do that morning, noon and night. You could do it with enthusiasm. You could do it with religious fever. You could do it with passion. You could pull on your hair and you could grit your teeth and you could clench your fist as you do it with great emotion and do it every day of your life and still good at how. Because you’re not saved by accepting Christ in your heart or life or inviting him in your heart or life.
life, you’re saved by trusting that Jesus died and shed his blood at the cross was buried He’s buried in Rosicam from the dead. When you do that, dozens and dozens of consequences become a reality for you. So hopefully that helps answer the question. Is it sometimes the devil gets us focused on consequences we want of salvation but… But the mechanism for salvation is to believe the gospel. Romans 1 16 says that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation.
And it is the power of salvation to everyone that believes. Well, we’re coming to you live today. This is Tuesday and it’s November 28th and we’re coming to and we invite you to join us and every day and pass that word along to your friends and Thank you to join us and every day and pass that word along to your friends and we are… we are coming to you live right now. And we’re able to come to you live because of our listeners who pray for and give to Bibleline.
Maybe you’ve never given a gift to Bibleline, but would you consider during this month of December coming up that we might finish out this year with everything paid for and we could use your help to clean up all of those outstanding bills and make sure the Bible line enters the new year debt free. I hope you’ll pray for us and if you could give a gift it would be greatly appreciated. Think about it. What are you going to give to Christ at Christmas as everybody makes up their shopping list?
Jesus is not on the list. What are you going to give to Him? And perhaps you could give a gift to Him by giving the Bible to get this gospel message of Christ out to a world that so desperately needs to hear it. Alright. In John, by the way, we have John in Richmond, Virginia. Offair says he has believed and accepted Christ, can he go to heaven? You said he would, where in the Bible does it say that? Well, let me give you what I call the written guarantee, verse John, 1 John 513.
Since you have the name John, you ought to really light up with this one. 1 John 5 verse 13, God says, these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God. Since John, you have believed on Christ according to what you’ve told me, you are therefore the one that he is writing to. I have written this to you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know K-N-O-W, not hope, not guess, not perhaps, not maybe.
But you may know that you, H-A-V-E, have. That’s a present tense verb, eternal life. So the Bible says you can actually know that you have, you can know that you have, you can know that you have eternal life. And God put that in writing. So would you look at verse up John 1 John 513, the written guarantee where God says I put it in writing so you can know that you have eternal life. I have Ray in deltona Florida on the line and Ray, welcome to vinyl line.
You’re welcome. I’m calling to ask you a question. I’m a true believer in Christ and what he did on the cross. And I do have some logic that God has blessed me with, although I’m not a genius or a scholar. But my question to you this morning is, do you believe in the cessation? Station of the gift. I’m a believer in Reformed theology and I’ve been struggling because we’re looking for a church here in my hometown. We’ve moved up here about a year and a half ago.
And we can’t seem to find a church that’s teaching truth. It’s very difficult nowadays it seems. I believe yes, some of the gifts, there were 19 gifts given, and many of the spectacular ones are gone. The gift of tongues, the gift of prophecy, the gift of knowledge, it says in 1 Corinthians 13 8 that they would all cease when the Scriptures, the New Testament record was complete. And then some of the other spectacular gifts, the gift of healing, I believe God still heals, I believe in divine healing, but I don’t believe in divine healers.
That gift is ceased. If they were still around, they ought to be able to raise the dead. I don’t see anybody doing that. And I don’t see really any of them doing any of the things that you see in the New Testament as the kind of healings that they did back in the time of Christ. So I think those are all ceased and we’re not even looked for those. But there are several gifts that are still around. And of course the gift of administrations, the gift of helps, the gift of giving, the gift of evangelism, and the gift of being a pastor, teacher.
And so there’s a whole bunch of them that are still around. but if the spectacular ones are gone. Absolutely, and I totally agree with you. I’m not like I said, I’m not a scholar or anything of the sword, but God had blessed me with logic, and I was taught by my great pastor, Mentor. I don’t know if you know him. His name is Jack Lanham from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I’ve heard that name, but I’ve never met him, no. Yes, he’s a wonderful pastor teacher and he preaches truth.
And if possible, I’d like to speak to someone after I get off the phone with you because I need some information as to maybe finding a church in my area that teaches truth. Sure. Yes. Sure. And we have a sheet that we use as a guide when you go on a phone and interview, churches as to someone the basic doctrines they ought to embrace to be a good solid church to teach as the Word of God. So I’m going to turn you over to my operators and Ray, thank you for calling in today from Deltona, Florida.
Thank you very much, God bless you. We’ll be praying that he’ll be able to find a good solid Bible church. They are somewhat difficult. Maybe somebody from Deltona who might have a good church might also call us and give us a recommendation for Ray and we’ll pass that word along to him. We have Katherine in Kansas City, Missouri. In the book of Ruth, Naomi said, lay at his feet, uncover them, and he will tell you what to do. Please explain.
Does that mean that they had sex? Well, it almost implies that there. And of course we know that Boas, as the kinsman redeemer, went ahead and took her to be his wife. But in any case, It’s not real clear in the King James, but when generally it talks about uncovering their nakedness, it does talk about a sexual relationship. And it doesn’t exactly say that in Ruth, and so I think we’re going to maybe have to wait and find out one day.
But in any case, he already had spotted her, and I think that the Lord was working, and The Ruth got added to the lineage of Christ and got to be one of those that were in the line of Jesus who later came through of course David and then through the descendants of David and Joseph and Mary were directly related, both of them back to King David. Anonymous in Utica, New York calls in and says husband and wife are both Christians husband not acting responsible Not helping with the kids not going to church.
What should she do? Well, my advice is First Peter chapter three seems to be the great passage where the woman who Can actually win her husband? through her testimony and through her it says conversation but it means her behavior. And so I would say that you should pray and ask God to open his eyes and then obviously follow the instructions of 1 Peter chapter 3 and see what God might do in bringing him online. Sometimes women and want to take the leadership in the home, and when the woman takes the other role and lays the responsibility on the husband, the husband sometimes then will step up to the plate and become the leader that he should be.
But as long as the woman aggressively continues to take the leadership, then the husband is likely to let that continue to happen. And I have seen many wives who have been successful when they said, you are responsible. I am counting on you to be the spiritual leader of this home. I am counting on you to guide our family and to discover what God’s will is for our family and to be the leader with our children and so on and so on.
And look to him for that leadership, even though he may not have a clue at this time, it might be the spark that will cause him to step up to the plate. And it appears that that advice is what you have in 1 Peter chapter 3, where the woman who does that will find that God will work wonders in your life. We have John in Charlotte, Minnesota, calling in just now, leaving a question, and we’re excited about having people up there in Minnesota, listening to my line.
He says in Hebrews 6, 4 through 6, Dr. Missler says, if the Jews are posticized, being saved and returned to Judaism, there was loss of salvation. And it was a rejection of the Trinity, thus the impartable sin. Do you agree? And the answer is, I do not agree with it at all. It’s not talking about that. It’s talking about moving forward. If you read the first couple of verses of Hebrew 6, it’s talking about not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works.
These people were saved. But now that they’ve gotten away from the Lord in service, He tells them in verses 4 through 6 they can’t go back and become saved again because that’s impossible because once you’re saved, you’re saved forever. If you attempt to be saved again, you crucify Christ afresh to yourself and you put Him to open shame. In other words, that is blasphemous to say that He doesn’t save you eternally from the moment you trust Christ. And those in Hebrews 6, notice of the taste of the heaven, the gift, which I believe is salvation.
And they were partakers of the Holy Spirit. You could only be saved to get the Holy Spirit. It says in Romans 8 and 9, if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And so these were truly saved. But he’s not saying that you can go back and become saved again. He’s saying that’s impossible. But then the following verses 7, 8, 9, 10, talk about laboring for Christ and getting in on the rewards that come by being a faithful servant.
So they need to become servants again. And he says in verse 10 that God is not unrighteous to forget your labor of love. He will reward you for whatever you do for Him. And he’s telling those believers, don’t try to become saved again. You’re already saved for eternity. It’s impossible to go back and be renewed under that repentance that brought about your salvation. That would mean really a crucifixion of Christ all over again to yourself, of course, because Christ will never die again and you’ll put him to an open chain.
Rather, you need to start serving, realizing that God is not going to forget one thing you’ve done for him, but he’ll reward you fully. Dr. Misler is wrong. All right. We have Wilburn in Richmond, Virginia. He’s been patiently waiting and Wilburn, welcome to Bibleline You On The Year. Good morning God bless. I just want to say that when you preach and when you teach in your voice I hear the Holy Spirit so you sound great and I’m glad that when you have a cold you don’t let that discourage you.
And I was just wondering if you could say a little bit about how the Holy Spirit helps to give you strength and adversity when you’re doing your show or when you’re doing your duties as a pastor. Alright, very good. In the Holy Spirit, of course, it involves every believer and we simply need to distrust God. You know, I like Proverbs 3, 5, and 6. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not into your own understanding and he shall direct thy paths.
So the Lord promises that He will guide you and direct you as you depend upon Him and you don’t lean to your own understanding. And the Lord, of course, in the power of the Holy Spirit enables us to be effective tools for God. And He has, I think, blessed this program. And I think it’s because we honor His Word and honor the gospel message, which is the means by which people are saved, and it’s God’s desire that this message be preached into all the world.
It’s amazing to me how many churches where the gospel is not given, and they assume everybody there is already a believer, and they don’t expect lost people apparently to walk into their congregation. And for whatever reason, I know I was raised in a church where nobody ever got saved. And I don’t think the reason why was because nobody there was saved and didn’t even know how to lead someone to Christ. But we are to proclaim God’s Word and when we do, God is going to bless.
Thank you for that call and we’re now going to go to Selby in Pensacola, Florida and Selby. Welcome to Vimaline. Yeah, I need to order some more CDs. Wonderful. Well, I’ll have to turn you over to my operators to do that. Did you have a Bible question today? Oh, no. I guess I called a wrong number. Well, that’s all right. We’ll just switch it to my operators right now and they’ll get you so. Thank you so much for calling in and our operators will pick up that call and we’ll take your order from you.
We have Mark in Lakeland, Florida, and Mark, welcome to Bibleline your own ear. How are you doing, Dr. Hank? Good. Good. When you’re having back and problem after problem in a variety of areas, whether it’s medical and financial and just making bad decisions, how can you determine if that’s Satan putting roadblocks in front of you or if that’s maybe God disciplining you for some past sins or for something that’s going on in your life? Well sometimes it’s not easy to discern what’s going on as you go through struggles and I know you have to just search your own soul and ask yourself what is happening here.
But sometimes adversity is a means by which God can get you to change your direction and maybe to search out the scriptures and look to him. And so it can be a positive thing. You know, James writes to his readers in the book of James and he says count it all joy when you fall into diverse testings or temptations. And I’m sure they were surprised by James’s introduction to that letter. Usually people, you know, are grumpy. grumping and complaining and are not happy when they’re going through trials.
But James says, can it all joy? Because he says that this brings about several spiritual consequences for the believer. And as a believer, we ought to ask ourselves, what is God trying to accomplish here? And he says in verse three of James 1, knowing this, that the testing of your faith work of patience. And then it says, let patients have her perfect or maturing work that you may be mature an entire wanting nothing. So in other words, you might be complete.
And then it says, if you’re lacking wisdom, ask. And this is a time to ask when you’re going through adversity. God, give me wisdom as to how to handle these situations and which direction to go. And you might even seek counsel from other wiser older Christians who might lend some good advice to the mix. But basically, this is a good time. As James says, Canada all joined. This is God working in your life and whether Satan is really hammering at you or whether God is actually being trials across your life, it’s for your spiritual benefit.
Should that affect how you pray whether or not it’s an attack, Satan or a… I don’t think I would focus so much on that as to ask God what the solutions are. And so whether there’s a testing coming from God or from Satan, Satan of course will tempt you to do evil. God will never tempt you to do evil. God expects you to survive the test and come through it a winner. And so you need to just look to the Lord and say, Lord, guide me through this trial.
And it’s just like the 23rd Psalm that you will take me through the valley of the shadow of death. and I will fear no evil. So just trust God to take you through the valley and he’ll bring you out safely on the other side. And we’re out of time, Mark. And Bibleline is going to conclude for today.
