We’re going to be going to the Bible for a few minutes and then we’ll be taking your questions and you’re welcome to call in. We have a number of off-air questions. We are going to talk about the Bible.
You know, one of the most exciting things is this event called a Rapture. No doubt about it unless your head is in the sand and you’re reading the Bible. You can recognize the signs of the times are everywhere. And it tells us that in 1 Thessalonians 5 that of the times and seasons you have no need that I write unto you. There are so many verses in the Bible that talk about the return of Christ and what we are to look for.
And you know there are signs for the conclusion of the church age and the rapture and then Then there are signs for the second coming things that will occur in the tribulation period after the rapture. So we are seeing now a host of signs, many of which are second coming signs and also we are seeing many of the signs of the conclusion of this age. I was always told and I was always taught and most of the books I have always read have said that there are no signs for the rapture and I have come to conclude that that is wrong teaching.
I have had so much wrong teaching and I think most of them have during our lives. But if you read 2 Timothy chapter 3, it gives us a whole chapter of what we would expect in the last times for the church age. It says this note also, chapter 3 verse 1 of 2 Timothy, that in the last days perilous times shall come. And we are living, I think, in those perilous times wherever we look, it seems, in the news we’re getting really on edge about whatever might happen.
And we’re on edge because we know the reality of the perilous times that shall come. And you read down there, it tells us basically what you see in the headlines every day in those descriptions. we really are seeing, I think, the signs of the End Times. And then it talks about Christianity. How, for the most part, they would be having a form of godliness, verse 5 of 2 Timothy 3, but they would deny the power thereof. Now the power, I take it, is the same as in Romans 1 and 16.
The gospel. You know, it says there, I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation. And the power of the gospel is being denied or ignored today. It’s amazing to me. I was talking to a young lady yesterday and I gave her the track that I’ve written called Am I Going to Heaven with the contemporary terms in it? And I asked her if she would look that over and as she looked it over she was reading down and I said to her, all of these are wrong answers.
Now, one of the answers in her mind, she hadn’t told me as of yet that she had mentally noted that one, she said, is it wrong to follow Christ? That was one of the options there for what must I do to be saved. And I said, no, it’s not wrong to follow Christ, but you’re not saved by following Christ. You’re saved by trusting Christ. He has death and shed blood. And she really got the gospel clear and left with assurance.
But most people think you have to follow Christ or you have to give your heart to Christ or you have to invite Christ into your heart or you have to put Christ on the throne of your life or you have twenty of these contemporary terms, none of which can save anybody. not saved by any of those actions we are saved when we TRUST that Jesus died, shed his blood, was buried in Rosalith and dead. That’s the gospel. And you know, it says in 2 Timothy 3.5 that in the last days that they would have a form of godliness, yes, they would maybe profess to be Christian, but yet deny the power, the means by which they are saved to become Christians, which is the gospel message, the death, the barrel, the resurrection of Christ.
And it’s incredible. I see it every day and most people will bite into the typical contemporary terms that are used today that are not the gospel and in reality think that they’re a Christian, but not really be a born-again believer. You have to trust Christ in order to be saved. And it seems like very few preachers are saying that anymore. from turning from your sin to walking the aisle, uniting with the church, doing penance, saying prayers, going to mass, church membership, and on and on the list goes of things that people are told that they must do in order to be saved.
I was up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and I asked this young lady, what do you think you have to do to be saved and she said you have to tithe. I said what? I’d never really seen anybody commit to that one thing and she said yeah. I said where did you learn that? He said from my preacher. He says unless you tithe you’ll go to hell. I said that’s incredibly wrong. Tithing has nothing to do with going to heaven or hell.
You know, tithing or giving to Christ is the way as a believer afterwards say we can make an investment in eternity. We can be laying up treasures in heaven and having rewards. Anyway, she wound up trusting the Lord. She says, can you wait another minute? Can you, you got a little bit more time? I said, yes. She said, I want to get my husband. She grabbed him. He was just about 25 feet away and brought him over and says, explain that to him.
Will you explain that to my husband? And so I was, they would explain it to her husband as well. You know, both of them were in a church where they were taught unless they tithe, they would go to hell in that tragic. It’s just awful. And we have so much bad teaching today. In any case, it says in verse 7 of 2 Timothy chapter 3 that there would be ever learning, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Isn’t that amazing? That they could be studying and learning, reading books and going to church and yet never discovering the truth. We have a gentleman in our church here that I passed her. And from five years old until he was 76 years old, he was active in quite a number of different churches. What a story he has to tell. But it wasn’t until he discovered us that he got saved. So can Can you imagine? For 71 years of his life, between 5 years old and 76, he was actively involved in churches, but never saved.
That’s called, to me, malpractice. For sure. You know, if you go to the doctor and he malpractices, well, you die physically. But if a church malpractice is, you go to hell. Don’t you see that that’s far worse? How many churches should be sued for malpractice because they let you go 71 years without ever telling you how to be saved. Now that is a tragic, tragic thing. It’s one thing to die physically. If the medical doctor malpractice is obviously you go to court, usually it seems today, but the patient dies and everybody is really upset.
you imagine? Shouldn’t we get upset when somebody goes through church all their life and never finds out how to be saved? I went through 18 years of my life in church. I was confirmed and baptized, homogenized, pasteurized, capsized, and the whole nine years, but I never was saved. Thank God my sister was concerned enough about me to pester me till I finally went to the Bible study she was attending and there I got saved. I only needed to hear here at one time.
When I heard that it was a gift, when I heard it was not of myself, when I heard it was not of works, when I heard it was all paid for, when I heard that I had this simply trust Christ, that John 3 16, which I already knew, but I didn’t understand that whosoever believeth in Christ should not perish, but have everlasting life. Wow, it was like the light turned on and I said, this is incredible. This is the best news I’ve ever heard.
You mean to say I can go to heaven? I could go to heaven? I thought I was going hell. You mean I can actually be saved? Yes indeed the Bible said, Who’s so ever? Anyone that would believe on Christ would not perish but have everlasting life. I hope you’ve trusted Christ as your Savior. I’m praying that you will if you haven’t. You could do it right now. You can say, Lord, I’m the sinner. I don’t understand much about the Bible but I believe Jesus died for me and paid my sin debt and full by His death and shed blood and I believe He was buried.
I believe He rose again from the dead and I trust him right now to save me. Would you do that? Oh, my friend, that’s the most important decision you’ll ever make. And we hear from so many who tell us they’ve done that by listening to this program. Point is that thrilled me. And I hope it thrills you as well to know that people are hearing the gospel. So many Christian programs, but very few ever address the issue of salvation.
And if they do, they don’t address it in a real clear way. You’re still left confused with contemporary terminology that’s not really even the gospel. The gospel is to believe or trust. As the gospel is the power of God, the Bible says in Romans 1 and 16, unto all of them that believe or trust. When you trust Christ, you’ve got it. I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline. Great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning in. Love to hear from all of you.
Give us a call. number is here at Bible and 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. We’re gonna go to Michael in Brandon, Florida, and Michael, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Oh, thank you very much. Hello? I’m right here, turn the radio down. If you listen to the radio, it’s 20 second delay, and so you’ll just absolutely probably go insane. Okay. Hello? I’m talking to you on the phone to forget the radio. Okay. Hey, sir. I believe I’m saved, but I really don’t know.
But this is my question. My question is that if I am saved, if I am born again and I want to go to heaven, and I know that God says that I’m not alive. And if I lie up to when I die or to when Jesus Christ comes, will I see God of heaven? If you’ve trusted Christ as your only means of going to heaven, then yes the answer is yes, because you see when Christ died, He paid for all of your sins past, present and future.
So He’s paid for every sin you’d ever commit. You say, well I haven’t even done those. But think about it, when Christ died 2000 years ago you weren’t even born. God saw into the future, He saw when you would be born, Michael. He saw your whole lifetime transpire. He saw every sin you’d commit yet future in your life. And He paid for all of your sins, past, present and future. That’s why He can give you eternal life at the moment you believe.
So eternal life is not something He gives you after you die. He gives it to you now because He’s already paid for it. He’s already paid for all of your sins. That doesn’t mean that we should lie. It doesn’t mean you can get away with lying. In other words, the Lord will discipline you. Thank you, you might say. Might even take you home to heaven early, but he’ll never kick you out. He’ll never lose you. You are saved and kept saved from the moment you believe by Jesus himself.
Jesus says in John 639, all that the Father hath given me, he says, I should lose none in a way, but raise them up again to the last day. So when you trust Christ, if you’ve come to him, he will not lose even one person. So you’re stuck. You have to go to heaven. heaven if you’ve trusted Christ as your only means of heaven. But if you’re trusting in your works and you’re trusting on how you live your life, then you’re not saved.
You need to simply trust Christ alone and then you’re saved forever, Michael. So, what you saying that no matter what I do, no matter what’s in a commit to death, or I’m saying, I’m tired. Exactly. I’m saying that no matter what you do, once you become saved, you are going to go to heaven. But as you read in 1 Corinthians chapter There’s a man there who was living in fornication with his mother and he was proud and not ashamed.
And the Bible says in verse 5 of 1 Corinthians 5, to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that’s the body that the Spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. So here’s a man that God allows Satan to kill him, but yet he’s still saved when he stands before God. But he’s not going to leave you here on the earth to be delinquent. So if you’re saved, I would caution you not to try to live in willful sin because God is going to spank you and he might just jerk you right on up to heaven early.
You’re not going to get away with it. Thank you, Michael, for that call. And I would read Hebrews, chapter 12, and especially verses 6 through 11, where the Lord says he chases every son that he receives into his family. We’re going to go to Wayne in Lakeland, Florida, and Wayne. welcome to the Bible and you’re on the air. Good morning. Good morning. I have a question. Recently, I’ve been around a bunch of people, some Catholics, and I’d like to just tell your perspective on this.
Obviously, we as even, local, fundamentalist, conservative, however you want to characterize this, point back to the Reformation. How would you go about sort of explaining the Lord’s role when it comes to the first maybe 1600 years of the church. I think to some extent we can agree that the Lord has used the Catholic Church. We can also probably agree maybe not a Catholic, but that over those centuries more and more bad doctrine and dogma, the Church up in a totally reforation.
It is a good question. There was 1,500 years of Christianity where the Catholic Church was sort of the center of that. And I just wondered if you were to sort of explain what your feeling is about what the Lord did with the Church for the first 1,500 years of Christianity, how that relates to the reformation. I mean, because the reason why I’m asking it, they did make an interesting point was, but you don’t not believe that there were Christians until the Reformation, and of course our answer is, my answer is no, they’re obviously, they’re obviously were, so if you would all hang up just expand the level.
Absolutely, there’ve always been believers and history doesn’t really hit you in the face with all the different groups that believe simply in Christ as Savior, all down through that time. You not only have the Western church, but you have the Eastern church, and many split-offs and branches throughout all of that time. But the Roman Catholic Church became very powerful because it was also a political entity. And what happened is that they also controlled the governments of Europe. And when people left Europe to come to America when they said they were looking for religious freedom, they were trying to escape the tyranny of the Roman Catholic Church and the Inquisition and the hundreds of thousands of believers that were tortured and killed for saying that I believe I don’t need the church to be saved.
I can be saved by simply trusting Christ. At the Council of Trent in 1554, there were nearly a hundred enanthemas which have never been rescinded by the Catholic Church that said that you would be punished by death if you said that you could be saved apart from the Roman Catholic Church. That was a terrible travesty. And so people in Europe were like rats jumping off a sinking ship, trying to get offshore and find a new land to live in.
And if you read the preambles to the constitutions of the original 13 colonies, all of them. He said that they found themselves so they could preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in freedom without religious persecution. And that’s why they wanted a separation of church and state so that the state would never become the church again. And the political power that Rome was in Europe, where the person had no chance because the government was siding with the Roman Catholic Church and persecuted the genuine believer.
You certainly, you know, it was a dark hour, but God, of course, always had the truth out there and there were men then that brought, of course, the truth to light and that was the Reformation which obviously was a wonderful exposure of the gospel to the people and the translation then of the Bible and the language of the peoples by men like Wycliffe and others that followed even Martin Luther translating the whole Bible into the German language so the Germans could read the Bible in their own language.
It was an exciting time as far as God opening up the light of the gospel to people. But it was a bad time and Roman Catholicism suppressed the truth during all that time and that’s why we call those Middle Ages the dark ages because they were spiritually dark ages where the truth of the gospel was suppressed. And I’m glad that we are able to get into our Bible for ourselves today and read them and proclaim this wonderful message in freedom.
Hallelujah for that. But many people in many countries, there are other religions today that suppress the gospel and they don’t want it to get out. And they keep people captive. You know, it talks over in Timothy about the devil snaring people and getting them in a snare where they are captive at his will. And it says there that we need to pray that they could discover the truth and have that change of mind which brings about salvation. Thank you so much for calling in.
We have a couple of affairs here. We have Steve in Largo, Florida. As explained, Matthew 7, 13, and 14, Jesus is talking here about false teachers, and He tells us that narrow is the way that leads unto life, and broad is the way that leads to destruction. And He tells us that few find the narrow way, but many try to enter through the broad way, and will actually go to hell. What he’s saying in there is that Jesus is exclusively the only way to heaven.
Narrow means there’s only one way and you have to go through that one way which is Jesus to go to heaven and there are many ways to go to hell. Now O for Winfrey right now is teaching that there are many ways to go to heaven. That is the broad way, the popular way and most people are going to try those many different ways, and guess what? They’re not going to be able to enter heaven. Christ said in John 14, 6, I am the way, the truth and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father but by me.
Now what is so sad is that the NIV translation, the new King James translation, and numerous other ones, changed the word narrow and translated hard. That’s a totally different concept. And it’s not hard, it’s narrow. Narrow means that there’s only one way. Christ is exclusively the way to heaven. I’ve had people over the years tell me, boy, you’re narrow minded. You mean that only those who trust Christ will go to heaven and all those in the world that don’t trust Christ, that believe in some other way, are going to go to hell?
Yeah, that’s what the Bible says. And if you want to call me narrow minded, then go ahead. I didn’t write the Bible. I’m just telling you what the Bible says. And so it is narrow, but it isn’t hard because Jesus made it easy. Jesus paid the penalty for your sin, and if you’d only trust him, you would be saved. But unfortunately, most people are trying another way to have an other than Christ alone, and they will not be saved.
Well I hope that answers the question for you. That was Steve in Largo, Florida. We have Ryan in Tampa, Florida. He calls in Job, where does it say that God will keep you alive through sickness and disease in order for you to hear the gospel? That’s in Job chapter 33, and there God tells us that a person who is seeking, God will keep them alive until they hear the gospel. And God will bring a messenger to them that will tell them about how they can be saved.
And so if you’re a seeking person, God guarantees that you’ll find him. I love Jeremiah. Chapter 29 verse 13 where it says, and you shall seek me and find me when you shall search for me with all your heart. So obviously we ought to recognize we have to seek the Lord, and if we do, God will see that the message will get to us. Either we will bump into a witness in Christian or a witness in Christian will bump into us.
But God will arrange a meeting with somebody who will share the Gospel with you. We have Betty in Tampa, Florida, and Betty, welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Good morning, Pastor Hank. Good morning. What you’re talking about about the people being chased out of Europe to come here, part of those people were French Protestants that were chased out into Germany, and they were called the Hüvannats. There you go. very seldom here about them but they did come here to Florida and they were up in St.
Augustine or Jacksonville actually and St. Augustine at General vicinity and then down further south of us that the Huguenot came to from Europe. Amen and you know this was some of the first settlers that St. Augustine is the oldest city in America and those were the places where the first settlers came to this country absolutely well thank you for sharing that it would be a bit of a rate you know a lot of people study history anymore and i have been to be married to a uh…
who cannot family that’s how i found out about that that’s a i have a question for you please and it has nothing to do with what we’re talking about right now that’s quick i might have to answer after break is i’m coming up so tight on the break here what is the he blew meaning for the name check them that that that’s the refuge city Okay, we’ll have to catch that after we get back from this break. Thank you so much for calling in and here we go Do our break stay tuned.
We’re gonna be back for a second half hour Don’t go away bible line will be back in a moment to pledge your support for bible line Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771 that’s 1-800-576-3771 Well, it’s so great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning in to bible and we appreciate you so much and appreciate all of you that pray for and support Bible and we are listeners supported. If you haven’t given a gift to Bible and would you give one please?
We can certainly use your help. Here we are in the month of February now and maybe you could give a gift this month to Bible and you can do it by credit card over the phone. You can also do it by mail and I hate to ask for money. I really do if I didn’t need it to be able to keep my mind going I would never say a word But you know it’s really God’s plan because when we partner you’re gonna share equally with us in the rewards That has got to be an offer you can’t turn down.
You know the Bible tells us that when you Give to the things of the Lord that he gives a 10,000% return Matthew 19 talks about that 10,000 percent. Now tell me where can you make an investment where you get a 10,000 percent return? I don’t know of any but the Lord. The Lord says you get a 10,000 percent return. So a wise investor will lay up treasures in heaven where they’re going to be around forever and ever but also to have the 10,000 percent return.
That attracted me a long time ago. I said I need to start investing in heaven. And if you give to a ministry that is proclaiming God’s word and people are getting saved and challenged and going on into Christian work, which Bible line is doing all of that, and reaching out to a world that needs to hear this wonderful message and we have people getting saved as a result. I believe you’re going to be a wise investor if you give to the Lord through Bibleline.
And you’re going to be a partner with us and that’s a real partnership where you’re going to share whatever I will receive and whatever our workers that will receive as a result of what we do here in getting this cosmonet, you will share equally with us. That’s got to be exciting. I wish I were around in the days of the Apostle Paul. I would have invested everything in his ministry. I would love to have the fruit the pole had accruing to me.
Well in Philippians 4 17 that’s what it says. Paul says to the Philippian believers, not that I desire a gift, but I desire fruit that may bound to your account. So as they gave Paul was saying that whatever fruit was accrued, that it was going to count for them in heaven. Wow! I would have loved invested in his ministry in hindsight. That would have been, wow, one of the best ministries in all of, I guess, the past 2000 years to invest in.
Look at the fruit that Paul had. Got to run. We’re going to go back now and do the second half of Bibleline. So keep you ready to tune where it is or go to the Internet. Catch the full program. Here we go. Bibleline in the second half hour. The line continue in your area. You can just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. All right, we’re back for that break and we were asked just before the break about the word the word shechem.
This was a city of refuge. It means back or shoulder, back or shoulder. And perhaps you can find meaning in that. But all the Hebrew words seem to have special meaning. And that was of course the city mentioned back there in the book of Genesis. We’re now going to get to our callers and all fair questions. We have a lot of them. You’re welcome to call in to my line today. We’re coming to you out of Tampa, Florida, from our studios right here at the Calvary Community Church, where I’ve passed her.
I hope you’ll watch our TV programs. By the way, you can watch them on the internet as often as you like. You can even download them in the MP3 format for your video iPod, or if you have the audio iPod, you can download our programs and carry them around with you and your audio iPod. Why not consider doing that and joining the Bible and program at your leisure whenever you want to listen to it. But we come out of here every day.
Welcome to new listeners in different parts of the country. And we’d love to hear from you if you’re listening out of Chattanooga. I’d love to hear from you. We should be reaching you folks in Alabama, in Georgia, and in Tennessee that hear the signal. I think it’s on 1490 out of Chattanooga. If you’re listening to that, give us a call. Just let us know you’re hearing the program. We hope that you’ll listen regularly and enjoy the program, but we would still love to hear from you.
We’re going to, of course, go to the phone lines right now. We still have Jerry here holding forever that has a question. Let’s go to Jerry now in Pleasant Grove, Florida. And Jerry, welcome to Bibleline You’re On The Year. Yes, sir. In the book of Revelations, it speaks specifically about the city of Babylon becoming an economic empire. I was just wondering from the point in time we are right now, to that time, I do this during the tribulation days, what do you see perfectly happening for us to get to that point in Iraq, because that’s where Babylon is, for that place to become an economic empire?
Thank you, sir. Alrighty. Well, I think that we have missed the point there. Babylon was a system, it was a city, but that system has permeated down through history. In Daniel 2 you have the image that Nebuchadnezzar dreamed and it talked about the successive empires that would come out of ancient Babylon. The Babylonian Empire, then the Medo-Persian Empire, which controlled Babylon and expanded the territory, then the Grecian Empire, which controlled all of what was Babylon and the Mediperson Empire, expanded it into the Empire of the Greeks, and then the Roman Empire following that.
And then in the End Times, you would have Europe coming back together and America controlling Europe and that whole Western political group would be called Babylon. So I believe the US of A is Babylon and Europe is Babylon and all those countries that were part of ancient Babylon and the media Persian and part of the Greek and the Empire are part of what is called Babylon. And obviously this is the parts of the world that merchandise. If you read Revelation chapter 18 and talks about Babylon, it talks about the commerce and the merchandising.
We are the west is the manufacturing, commerceing parts of the world and we are it, not the ancient city. Actually if you read carefully, it tells us Jerry in Isaiah chapter 13, the ancient city of Babylon would never be rebuilt. So if you’re looking for a bad one, it’s not going to be rebuilt. Not too far from Baghdad, but it’s there in Iraq and you have the ancient ruins, but it’s never going to be rebuilt according to the Bible, read Isaiah 13.
But the system that came out of ancient Babylon is here and it’s seen in all the western countries. The Bible says when this image pictured to us in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream would get down to the final end times and becomes complete. And so this is really an image of a system that would develop over 2500 years and we’re now at the completion of it, then it says the image would stand up and it would be placed back on its base.
So in other words, all of the West would have its feet firmly planted in Iraq, which is where Babylon began. So we’re there, we’ve already planted our feet there and you can see how the story unfolds. You ought to order my series on Daniel or my series on Revelation and we go into all of that and we’re seeing it happen before our very eyes right now. We’re there and we’re there with our feet planted in Iraq, which is the final stage before Jesus comes back and defeats the armies of the world as they come together in conflict over the oil and the wealth of the Middle East.
Thank you for your call, Jerry, and I hope that helps explain. We’re now going to go to Judy down in Venice, Florida, and Judy, welcome to Bibleline your own there. Thank you. I have a question. I was speaking to my daughter yesterday. She is a school teacher. She is 28 years old and she lives in Columbus, Ohio. Now, she is saved and, you know, she grew up Baptist. But she called me yesterday and she said that she is dating a young man and she said that he’s saved.
Now she’s starting to go to his church with him. And it is called the Church of the Nazarene. Is that a true Bible believing church? Do they have? And also, I know there are other parents out there. There are a lot of churches, and I have found this myself. They all say they go by the Bible. And yet, like I have a friend that goes to a Lutheran church, and she swears they go by the Bible, but yet they don’t believe in the rapture or Bible prophecy or any of those things.
How do you point out to people that they’re really not going by the Bible? That’s a great question. And the Nazarenes believe that you can lose your salvation, which is a major, major, Dr. Lara. That means that they’re teaching works for salvation because if you believe you can lose it, that means something that you’re gonna do or not gonna do in your future will determine whether you make it or not, that makes you the savior and your salvation is based on how you behave between now and your death.
I have this wonderful CD that you might wanna get if you call I’ll send it to you free and have her listen to that, it’ll help her. But the big question you always need to ask is does your church teach that you could lose your salvation? okay that’s a excellent that is i didn’t realize that and that get that just gives me the perfect thing to put to her that’s because she is now saying all yes i want to church with him and everybody date date they sing the same songs we do and i i i just had an uneasy feeling about it and you know i said to her well i don’t really know anything about you know they’re teaching but i said you really want to look into it before you know if she would get serious and they would get married and have children
you know of course i i’m praying that she finds a godly mate and these will be my grandchildren and i want them in heaven when i get there they may have a little bit and it’s it’s amazing even uh… for example seven and as which i consider to be a cult seeing the very same hymns in their services that you and i think and yet uh… they don’t believe the same thing at all they they had they have serious nocturnal problems they reject the fact that there’s a hell that’s completely uh…
obviously the opposite of the bible and they they believe in soul sleep that’s completely crazy the bible is very clear that when the dead died they’re very conscious of where they are yeah the rich man uh… woke up upon death in the heart of the earth in Hades and Flamin’ Torment. He certainly knew he was burning and wanted help and so on. So it’s just so many crazy doctors are taught by different groups. And you have to be able to, that fundamental question of.
The Seventh-day Adventist would say you can lose your salvation. The Nazarene would say you can lose your salvation. The Roman Catholic says you can lose your salvation. Just ask that question and you can then nail them right there on the ministry. You have been so helpful. Thank you. You’re so welcome. Stay on and I’ll get my operators to get your address and we’ll send that out to you. Thank you very much. Okay, Judy, thank you for calling. We have some off-ears.
Let me go ahead and take some of those and… Pat in Tampa calls ORIGINS andtaining -when you disagree with other teachers of the Bible, how do you know what to believe and how do you know which one isdescription? Here’s the easy way to look at that. strutConnector Sovs the Bible teachers. What does the Bible say? So, I don’t care who the Bible teacher is, whether it’s myself or someone else, if what they are teaching disagrees with the Bible, they are wrong.
If they agree with the Bible and are teaching with the Bible teaches, then they’re telling the truth. You have to look at the Bible verses very carefully and see if they’re presenting exactly what the Bible teaches. Isaiah 820 says, If they speak not according to this word, that is the word of God, it is because there is no light in them. Wow. So obviously the major area to detect whether a teacher is on line or not is can they lose their salvation.
And you would be surprised. Most of Christianity or what is called Christianity believes falsely and they believe If you can lose your salvation, believe in works or salvation, clearly the very fundamental basis of our salvation is established on the fact that salvation is not of yourself, Ephesians 2 8. It’s the gift of God, Ephesians 2 8. It is not of yourself. It is not of works, Ephesians 2 9, as Daddy Man should boast your brag. It’s all of God and received when you simply trust Christ.
It says, whosoever, believeth or trust that in Christ should not perish, but have everlasting life, John 3 16. And there’s nothing in the Bible to contradict that. Wow. So you might want to ask those same questions. What do you look for in determining who is a false teacher? It’s do they agree with the Bible? And if you do your homework, usually if you get a doctrinal statement from one of these teachers and look at it carefully as verses the Bible, you’ll find that many have a false view of the Bible.
Alright, we have Muriel in Tampa, Florida calls in. What do you think of Rick Warren’s teachings, the 40 days of purpose and the 40 days of community? Actually, if you look at what he says in his book, there’s absolutely no 40 days of purpose. All the examples he gives didn’t bring about a purpose as a result of the 40 days. He just simply grabs 40 days throughout the Bible and tries to make something of it. We have a book called the Seabound Purpose, another book who’s driving the purpose-driven church.
And then another book called the Dark Side of Rick Warren. These are all available in our bookstore here. They will greatly help you and expose it. But basically Rick Warren’s teaching on salvation is very confusing. It’s basically one of a continued relationship with Christ. He likens it to like getting on a train. And in order to go to heaven, you have to stay on the train. Tell it parks in heaven. So at any time you could get off the train.
That means you can lose your salvation Which means salvation is by works and his gospel is not very clear at all and There’s some serious other problems related to his teachings and Some of the books we have here will expose those to you if you want to study further Muriel and we’re living in the last days when the Bible tells us that we need to be aware of the fact that the scriptures are not preeminent today. In fact, in most of the purpose-driven churches, you don’t get encouraged to even bring your Bible.
Everything’s up on the jumbo screen. They pick out whatever scriptures they want you to see. And Rick Warren’s favorite Bible is the message Bible, which is the worst thing I’ve ever seen. And I think disrespectful toward God, God when it talks about in the Lord’s Prayer, about giving us three squares every day. I think that’s disrespectful when the prayer really is a prayer that begins with honor. to the Father, our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
How can we take and drag him down to three squares? I just don’t understand it and I don’t like the message Bible. It’s I think demeaning to God and it obviously has scriptural errors in it that I would not want to promote. Thank you, Muriel. We have all fair Jim in Lakeland, Florida. It says, What about John Higgs? John Hoege has a lot of good stuff on prophecies. A great presenter certainly has a way of capturing an audience. But John Hoege believes you can lose your salvation.
You heard me. John Hoege believes you can lose your salvation. If you listen carefully, that’s a major, major, major error. John Hoege believes you can lose your salvation. Thank you Jim for calling in from Lakeland, Florida. Tim in Clearwater, Florida. He is asking a question here in judges. Jeff Thi was to sacrifice the first person. That was actually a dumb vowel on his part. And, you know, God allows tragic things to happen because of people in their sinful nature.
You read about it in the headlines every day. Somebody pulls out a gun and shoots somebody else. That’s dumb. That shouldn’t happen. But the Bible records where people do dumb things, and that was really a dumb thing on his part. And so we’re never, never, by the way, Tim, told that we have to keep a vow that’s out of God’s will. If you vow a vow and the vow is not, you know, if you say, I’m going to go kill somebody and you vow to do it, you’re not obligated to do that.
You can say, that’s wrong. tells me I’m not to commit murder and so you’re not obligated to do that. So you’re not committed to that. You might say I made a vow I’m going to kill myself. Well you’re not obligated to keep that because God doesn’t want you to take your own life either. And so any vow that is unscriptural you’re not obligated to keep. And so poor Jeff just made some bad decisions in his life and the Bible recorded for us.
So I hope you don’t think he was a smart guy and that this was something that God was a party to. He just made some bad, bad decisions. All right. We have Benjamin in Clearwater Florida and Benjamin, welcome to Bibleline your own Thank you, thank you. Good morning. I see in second pit, second pit 2, 21 and 22 talking about forced teachers. They compared, you know, people compared those people like the dog and also the pig. And those are forced teachers.
They are safe. They were never safe. They were never safe. If you read the context. Okay, they are never safe. Okay. Read above. in the 70s, as they’re wells without water. They are clouds carried with a tempest, to whom it’s reserved the mist of darkness forever. It says they’re headed for hell. And it tells us later sometimes they’re exposed, just like a dog will return to its own vomit and eat it. Sounds disgusting, doesn’t it? But dogs will do that.
And if you’ve ever owned a dog, you’ll probably experience that sometime in a dog’s life where they’ll do that. And a sau or a pig will go back back into the mud. You can clean them up, you can put perfume on them, you can put some ribbons on their head and so on, and bring that pig into your house. But the first opportunity that pig is going to write back into the mud. Why? Because they need a new birth.
And so false prophets are like that. They’re going to expose that their nature is corrupt and they’ve never been born again. And it tells us clearly in verse 20 here, verse 21 rather, that it had been better for them never to know the way of righteousness, which is Christ, than after they had known it to turn from the Holy Commandment delivered unto them. That Holy Commandment was to believe on Christ. In 1 John 3, 23, it says this is his commandment that we believe on his Son Jesus Christ.
So they reject the commandment to believe and are lost. These are false teachers never saved it all they didn’t lose salvation. They never got it and the Bible says that they are condemned to hell well, we have and in Tampa, Florida giving us an off-air question and and is asking about Matthew chapter 10 and I’m turning there right now as we speak and Let’s see if we can answer this question for Anne. This is Matthew chapter 10 that she is inquiring about, and I’m almost there.
Well, she’s asking about verse 7 and 8. Okay, let’s read it. As you go, preach saying the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Let me stop right there, and that message is about the kingdom that Christ will establish. the thousand-year millennium, that is not the message being preached today. By the way, that message was only to be preached to Israel, not to the Gentiles. Look if you will, and at verse 5, these twelve, Jesus sent forth and commanded them saying, go not, go not, into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans, enter ye not.
So this message was not for the Gentiles, and it was not for the Samaritans, but it says in verse 6, but go rather to the law sheep of the house of Israel. So if you’re preaching this message, you ought to be headed for Israel. It says in verse 8, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers. Again, referring to Israel. The modern day healers like to apply this as something that they would do with Gentiles, but they’re totally out of order because this This was a message to take not to the Gentiles.
Notice this says, don’t go into the way of the Gentiles. So all these healers ought to get on their jets and fly to Israel and present it to Israel and preach the Kingdom message, the Kingdom being the thousand year reign of Christ and so on and so on. But obviously this message was rejected, Christ was rejected, he went to the cross, the Kingdom has been postponed and now all of this has come off the scene. There is no more of this divine healing that it refers to in verse 8.
Notice it says, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead. I don’t see anybody raising the dead today. I don’t see anybody doing that. And I hear claims every now and then, but I’m talking about something that can be verified, it never happens. Let’s take your healing evangelist and test him by going out to the near cemetery and let’s just have him cry out your loved one’s name and see if they pop out of the ground. Not going to happen.
Yet Jesus went to the grave of Lazarus and he said, Lazarus come forth and Lazarus comes right up out of the, by the way I’ve climb down into that cave, the traditional site of where Lazarus was. And let me tell you, you not only have to be alive, but physically capable and in pretty good shape to climb in and out. It’s very confining and you go straight down into the ground and I’ve climbed down there and I’ve climbed back out.
And I tell you, if I was even sick or not a very good physical health, I’d probably still in lands with tomb today. So obviously this stuff is not happening today. And then also it says you’re not supposed to ask for any money. And so boy that violates the modern day healer doesn’t big time. And this was a message for Israel not for the Gentiles and God would verify that they had been sent by these miracles that they could do but they’re not doing any of that today, the cleansing of lepers, you know, that’s missing, replacing, replacing missing flesh.
If you were a leper, parts of your body would fall right off as it died and ride it right on you. And so for a leper to be healed, you had to replace flesh that had died and some in cases had fallen off your body. Interesting, isn’t it? Well, if you go to the internet, you can catch our programs anytime of day or night. I hope that you have trusted Christ as your Savior. I was raised in church, but in my church, I never heard how to be saved.
Thank God I heard it because of my sister getting saved in a Bible study in our neighborhood. As a teen, she got me out to a teen Bible study where I heard it, and that changed my life dramatically. And I believe truly that nobody in my church was saved. Can you believe that? There are churches where the pastor is not saved, the music director is not saved, the choir is not saved, the congregation is not saved, you say you don’t mean that.
My friend, I was raised in a church like that. I think a lot of people are attending mausoleums, churches, and yet they don’t produce life. They are all like the Bible says in Matthew 23, dead men, spiritually dead, not able to impart life. The gospel is the means by giving life. The Bible says in the last days of the church that they would not endure sound doctrine, but they would heave to themselves teachers having itching ears. Read 2 Timothy 4 verses 3 and 4.
