And we look forward every day to being able to chat with you over the airwaves and bring to you the Bibleline program.
In any case we’re going to get into the Bible for a few minutes. And of course, thanks again for tuning in to Bibleline. We’re going to turn to a passage here. We had Catherine in Yiddickah, New York, calling with this question and I’m just going to talk about it now early on. She says, please explain Matthew 8, 11 through 12, sons of the kingdom will be cast out. Who are they? Can someone just say they are saved but really are not?
Well, this is an interesting passage and of course here in Matthew we’re talking about the kingdom that Christ will establish a thousand year rule of peace on earth, good will toward men, when Jesus writes we’ll come back and rule and reign on this earth and bring peace on earth, good will toward men. So during the tribulation period that precedes it, the ones who should be able to enter into that thousand year reign, many of them will not and yet there are Gentiles who really aren’t the ones for whom it was planned will be able to enter in because they have trusted Christ as their Savior.
Let me just read the passage and we will talk about it. And it says here in verse 11, I say unto you that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. Now the kingdom of heaven is literally the kingdom of the heavens where the heavens will rule over the earth during the millennium. And when Christ comes, He’ll establish peace on earth and we find those that are entering in are all saved.
You know when Christ comes back, it says in 2 Thessalonians 1 8 9, that He comes back in flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that no, not gone, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. And so that those that have not obeyed the gospel by trusting Christ as Savior are going to be killed, no unbelievers will enter into the kingdom. Now the ones who the kingdom was offered is the nation of Israel. And here we have the story of a Roman soldier, a man under authority, and he says about having his servant healed, he says, Lord my servant, life at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented, and Jesus said, I will come and heal him, and the centurion said I’m not worthy.
That thou should have come under my roof, but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I’m a man under authority, having soldiers under me, and I say to this man, go and he goeth and to another come and he cometh and to my servant do this and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marveled and said to them that followed, barely I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no not in Israel.
So here he’s talking about a Gentile who had great faith. And so then he talks about what will happen during the tribulation period that many Gentiles will come from the east and from the west and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in this thousand year reign of Christ. but the children of the kingdom, referring to those that are of Jewish ancestry, which have not trusted Christ as Savior during the tribulation period, will not enter into the kingdom. And so he says the children of the kingdom shall be cast into outer darkness and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Obviously they’re lost, but it says here that the ones who ought to really enter in, many of them will not, but those who really it wasn’t planned for but are invited to come because of faith will indeed come. You know, there’s a simple rule. You always interpret a difficult passage in the life of a clear one and you’ll find that in John 637, Jesus says, barely, barely, I say unto you, that if you come to Him, He says, I will in no wise cast out anyone that has come to me.
So for no reason or under no circumstances would Christ ever cast out a believer. So these are not believers. These are Jewish people who should by all rights enter the kingdom, but unless they receive the king or trust Christ, they will not and that’s why they’re cast out. So hopefully that answers your question. We’re not talking about saved people being lost once they become saved. And obviously in regard to the question, can a person save their Christian and not be one?
Of course that’s true. And many, many I think are in that category. I was raised in a church and everybody there would have said they were a Christian, including myself. And yet I discovered I wasn’t and I hadn’t understood or heard the gospel until I was 18. And that’s when I got saved. When I realized that salvation was not by works, and that’s a key issue. It’s not by works. It is the gift of God and is by trusting in Christ alone as the only means of your salvation.
The Bible says in Romans 4-5 to the one who does not work, but believeeth on Christ who justifies him godly. His faith in Christ is counted for righteousness. So Catherine and Newtica in New York, I hope that helps the passages talking about the kingdom that Christ will establish at his second coming, only believers will enter in. There are children of the kingdom, in other words the Jewish people, many of which will not have trusted Christ, they will be cast out and not allowed to enter in, but any one, whether they are Jewish or Gentile, if they do receive the gospel message, they will be invited to enter into the kingdom.
And so it’s basically only for saved and the children of the kingdom there are not saved people. They are simply the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And you’ll notice that Christ says that these Gentiles will sit down with Abraham and with Isaac and with Jacob. That’s the people from whom the nation of Israel sprang. Abraham and then his son, Isaac, and his grandson, Jacob are the lineage of the people that we call Israel. the children of those were the ones for whom this kingdom was planned and they’re invited first but we find that many of those children because they’ve not trusted Christ will not enter in.
Hopefully that makes it clear. I’m Dr. Englundstrom. This is Bibleline. Great to be with you today. We look forward to being with you each and every day. Well, we’re going to go first to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and we have Tony there from From Pittsburgh and Tony, welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Okay, how are you going, Hank? Good, Tony. I was after I had called before in that year, but I was with a good friend of mine and I was talking about, we were talking about Jesus only.
And I was telling him, I said, Jesus only, they believe you’ve got to go in the water to be safe and that day. I said, well that would be by work. And I did, and the church like I attend, and I try to hang in it with them, but they always, they say to them, they say, you have salvation, but you have to keep it. And I said, how can a man keep it? And they sing songs like, if you live right.
You make it and I went to some crypts and I went to Romans 9, 30 and 31 and that didn’t I said to myself I said I don’t know I said let me call Hank and say it’s no way they can have salvation if they believe they can work but like pieces like you I have a buddy man to listen to you, to pass and say don’t listen to guys like that there because they’re here go straight to hell and not there.
So I’ve got to be Jesus alone, right? Jesus alone for salvation. Our works have nothing to do with it. In fact, they’re filthy rags according to Isaiah 64, 6. And the Bible says that there is no man who can redeem himself. That’s why we needed a Savior who would redeem us. And Christ is the one who paid the purchase price. And the Bible tells us that once we become saved, nothing can undo what God has Romans 8, 38, and 39 are a couple of favorites of mine.
Paul says, I’m persuaded, that means they’re the convinced that neither death or life nor angels or principalities or things present or things to come nor height nor death nor any other creation. She’ll be able to separate me from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus. There’s nothing that can undo the salvation that you receive at the moment you believe it’s forever. And Jesus says in Hebrews 13 and five, I’ll never leave you. That means never. So if you ever did go to hell, Christ would have to go to hell with you because he said he’d never leave you.
I believe that 100% of me but I always say they get up and give great testimony. The only testimony I can give them say bad. I mean, I want to look for something going by the grace in his mercy and it looks like he said grace in mercy looks like they get mad. I know well you just have to keep chipping away and say that if you’re trying to be saved by your works you will not be saved and unfortunately a lot of people are going I mean that category because the crisis is not their savior if they’re saving themselves by their works and by their being baptized and all those other things that they do.
Tony I’ll be praying for you. God bless you. Thank you. You’re hanging there. We have Diane in Palm Harbor Florida and she asks a question off air and she says where in the Bible during these times Jesus will come referring to the generation now living sense Israel is again a nation. Well that’s in Matthew 24 and you’ll find there the parable of the fig tree and in Matthew 24 Jesus talks about learn about this fig tree which is representative of Israel which Christ cursed as he was rejected just before he goes to the cross saying let no fruit grow on me for an age and then he talks here in chapter 24 of Matthew that when that fig tree begins to blossom and put forth leaves, that it’s time for Christ to return.
And then we believe that Israel now back in their land and now functioning as a nation again. And as they begin to establish themselves and grow and put forth leaves, that that’s when Jesus Christ will come back. And then he says in verse 34, this generation, and fairly I say unto you, this generation shall not pass till all these things be fulfilled. I think he’s talking here about the generation living when Israel would become a nation and perhaps particularly when they would get Jerusalem back, which is of course what happened in the Six-Day War in 1967, that that generation living then would still be living when Christ would return.
So I think we’re living close and I think this is a great passage to take a look at. So Diana, I hope that helps. Diana calling in from Palm Harbor, Florida, leaving that offer question. We have another offer here. James in Tampa, Florida says your opening comments yesterday were awesome with Galatians 5-17. Could it be that people are having so much difficulty with their flesh because they’re not spending any time with the Lord in prayer reading the Word and assembling with true believers and not growing up spiritually?
expound and you’re absolutely right. Your spiritual health is dependent upon you’re doing those things which God says we ought to do which are the foundations of our Christian life and we sometimes call them the four talks or they’re expressed sometimes as the four walks. The four talks are God talks to us through the Bible so we need to read the Bible to allow God to talk to us. If If your Bible is zipped up and on the shelf… You’re not allowing God to speak to you.
And so you need to open that book regularly. Jesus says in Matthew 4-4, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. The second talk is prayer. That’s when we talk to God. And obviously prayer, conversation with the Lord, is something that is encouraged in the Bible. We’re told to pray without ceasing. I believe that means we kind of keep the line open and we can just resume our conversation at any moment as we go out.
we go out and go throughout the day. And certainly I don’t have to re-dial up the Lord as a believer. I just kind of keep him on the line and we talk throughout the day. And prayer is essential. So the first talk is where God talks to us and that’s through His Word. The second talk is where we talk to Him through prayer. The third talk is when we fellowship with other believers. And that’s a very essential thing. In Hebrews 10.25 It says we should not forsake the assembly of ourselves together as the manner of some is, but even so much the more we should encourage one another to fellowship or come together as a body of believers to worship and study his word in order that we might be strengthened and encouraged.
And it says so much the more as you see the day approaching. So as we see Christ coming, getting closer, more and more we ought to be attending church where believers are gathered and be strengthened by the fellowship and so on and so on. Just had a couple tell me just the other day that they get all pumped up on Sunday and Monday they’re still pumped up and Tuesday begins to wane and by the middle of the week they kind of slack off.
And of course that’s why I have a midweek service to try to bump us back up again as believers when we come together really receive great encouragement from one another and The singing of the hymns and the getting together in fellowship with other believers and studying his word has a powerful impact upon the Christian. And we really need to do that regularly. So that’s important. The fourth one of course is the fourth talk which is witnessing to the lost.
That’s telling the lost how they can be saved. So the first talk is God speaking to us through the Bible. As we read the Bible, he talks to us. Talk number two, we talk to him through prayer. The third talk is fellowship where we talk to other believers and gain strength by the mutual faith of each other. And then the fourth talk is talking to the lost where we share the gospel with the unsaved. And you know, I think that’s one of the most important because if you do number four, you’ll be actually driven to do the other three.
I find that if you’re witnessing the people, you’ll have to study the Bible to be able to answer their questions. So you’ll do the first talk. I find that if you are witnessing that you will also be driven to prayer, you’ll have to say, Lord, I need help in leading this person to Christ. And so absolutely all of that is necessary. And then of course when you lead people to Christ you’ll wind up fellowshipping with them and that’s also very, very important.
And so I think when you do the last one all of them come together. indicates I hope that answers your question and certainly Galatians 5 17 says our flesh lust against the Spirit and if we are going to be successful as a Christian we have to walk in the Spirit Galatians 5 16 and will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. So the flesh will always be there but we need to be catering to our spirit nature and walking in the direction led to us by the Spirit of God.
Our phone number here by the line if you’d like to call in is 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. So give us a call and we’d love to get you up on the air. Wyatt in Lakeland, Florida calls in and says, when you die, how soon is the soul being, I’m not too sure. was clinically dead from a heart attack of three and a half minutes. Well, you’re not dead yet. Obviously, clinically dead is not the biblical definition of death. The biblical definition is that when you die, that your soul is separated from your body.
And when that happens, then you’re dead and the soul doesn’t come back. And so you obviously are not spiritually dead. The Bible describes it until your soul leaves your body. When that happens, you are then dead and it doesn’t come back. You really weren’t dead yet. Technically according to the Bible, although your heart stopped beating, you were not really dead at all. You have to have to actually have your soul leave your body and then the body begins to be composed.
unless God miraculously intervenes and there’s a resurrection, you’re not coming back. So hopefully that will help you answer that question. And so we thank you for that call and I hope that explained it and we invite you to call anytime you want. Again, 1-800-576-3771 and you’re invited to call us here at Bibleline. We have Tom in Lutz, Florida, and he says, I heard John Hege say the two witnesses would be Elijah and Enoch. But I’ve heard you say Elijah and Moses.
Please explain. Well if you look at the Scriptures and in Revelation 11 where it describes the two witnesses that will come back and preach during the tribulation period, we find that the two witnesses there clearly are Moses and Elijah. It says that they will one of them pray and it will not rain. And the one who did that in the Old Testament was Elijah. He prayed during the wicked days of King Ahab and sure enough it did not rain.
We also find that the other prophet will pray and he will work the plagues and turn the waters to blood as often as he will and that obviously was Moses. So the two prophets I believe are without a doubt Moses and Elijah. Also in the Mount of Transfiguration in Matthew 17 when Christ is seen as he will be in all his power and all his glory at his return we find that Moses and Elijah appear there with Christ at his second coming.
So I I think there’s not much debate about it, and of course it seems like Enoch might be a candidate because he never died like Elijah. But God has preserved Moses’ body for this event, and you read about that in Jude 1.9 where Michael the Archangel had a dispute with Satan who called foul play when he calls out about how Moses’ body was preserved for this future event. And Michael simply says the Lord reviewed me and didn’t really try to get into a fight with him.
So anyway, that’s what’s going on there. And now we’re gonna go to some of the live colors. We have Madeleine in Bradenton, Florida, and Madeleine, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Madeleine, welcome to Bibleline. Thank you. One is kind of strange, it’s kind of historical. Did the Mayan civilization Did they come from the biblical population originally? The land separated? Well, I think everybody did. We all were one race and they either got on their little raft or their canoe and got over there or they were part of a split in the land and drifted over there.
But in any case, there’s evidence that probably the Egyptians got a lot of their gold from the Americas perhaps, some of the speculation goes, and that there was a travel and commerce back and forth in ancient days that long before Columbus ever came along. And of course these civilizations were civilizations that apparently rejected truth and then went away from the truth. That’s the order that seems to give in the Bible. And you see that where civilizations kind of go astray when they reject the revelation of God.
And of course we see the the Grecian Empire, the Roman Empire, all of them. Oh, pal. Yeah. Truth has been there, but then they rejected, including the Egyptians, and so on, they rejected the truth and they got themselves in trouble and they became a paganer or away from the truth of God. Mm-hmm. Wow. So that’s my view. Yes, it sounds, makes sense. This is another question. I think you may have answered for another choleraan. to do with several counties.
Ask you here. The sum you’ve done it for me. That’s in Matthew 25 at the judgment of the nations. We find that Christ will talk to those that were saved and commend them. He was a very good pastor for what they did in treating the 144,000 who had brought the gospel to people during the tribulation period. And then we find that he berates those that are the lost, the goats for not having done that. But of course they had no compassion at all upon the ones that were bringing the gospel to the tribulation period, which he calls my brethren several times in that passage.
And it has nothing to do with whether they were saved or not. But it simply was that the save had compassion upon those. Unsafe. The church did not and they were saved by birth. The sheep became sheep by trusting Christ, and the goats were unsaved and remained goats and did not receive the new birth, and that’s why they were lost. Does it also apply to us today, saved people? Well, I think that believers are more likely to be compassionate upon others than unbelievers are, but not always so.
But in this case, it was to be compassionate upon the ones that were bringing the gospel in those days. In the tribulation period which are the 144,000 Jews. Is it anything to do with rewards nowadays for a better save than if we do it for the least of them? Exactly. So whenever we do something in kindness toward others, we very definitely are doing exactly what the Bible says there. And there’s another one more if you have the time. It says I will go away and come again and you will rejoice if I go away.
I’m trying to find it on the paper here. Well John 14 he says a lot about how he’s going to leave and how he’s going to send another comforter, which is the Holy Spirit who will indwell us. But if he were here in a physical body he would be limited to one place on the earth at a time, whereas in the person of the Holy Spirit, he could be in dwelling every one of us. And obviously we could all enjoy his fellowship and his presence in our bodies.
So this is Jesus as the Holy Spirit. Yeah, well we have to go to break and I haven’t been in my bed music up here so we’re going to have to just talk our way through this and tell you that we are going to come right back in just a moment after this short break and we’ll do Bibleline in the second half. We just had a person who gave a gift to Bob Line from Richmond, Virginia and he says this gift is just a drop in the bucket compared to the benefits I get from Bible and thank you for that sweet comment and we appreciate all of you who give and this one giving from the heart saying it’s just a drop at a bucket because of the value of Bible and that family’s life that listen up there in Richmond, Virginia and you are of course very special to us all of our listeners are and without your participation in your help we couldn’t do it.
We have lots of resources in our resource center. You might want to call in and get a resource sheet sent to you or you can actually dial in and actually talk to a live operator who will maybe point you in the direction maybe you want to go. But we have the through the Bible commentary a five volume beautifully bound set by Vernon McGee.
It retails for 200. We have it for a gift of 100 to Bible on. We have also the Zondervan pictorial Bible dictionary. I love it because I love the pictures and that is for a gift of $25. That’s a real bargain. It’s a big thick dictionary and filled with pictures that are just beautiful. We also have the Zondervan pictorial encyclopedia. And that’s a beautiful five volume bound set with gorgeous pictures and information that will just be a wonderful addition to your library.
And then we all have the Jamison Faucet Brown commentary, a three volume unabridged cells for about 140, we have it for a gift of 90 that gives you a comment on every verse of the Bible. That’s really my favorite of all of the ones that we have. In any case, give us a call or look on the internet. At our online bookstore and you’ll find that you have pictures and descriptions there and you can order right off of the internet.
I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline. Our phone number is 1-800-576-3771 and we have Ortha in Port Charlotte, Florida and welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Ortha? Good morning. Yes. Hi, you’re on the air. Thank you so much. I’m good. Thank you. What is your question today? My question. We know about Adam and Eve and we know the creation, but where did Cain get his wife? Is there a little creation going on in the character? Well the answer is, and most people get this wrong because they don they really imagine, as I did, that Cain and Abel were just two kids playing the sandbox out back in the backyard of Adam and Eve’s home, and that’s not the case.
They were over a hundred years of age when the murder took place, and it tells us when Cain killed Abel that God replaced Abel with another seed 125 years after Adam and Eve had been around. So they had had a lot of kids over that period of time. And some estimate because many of those births were multiple births, as God said he would as a part of the curse multiply their conception, We find that even Cain and Abel were twins.
And so somebody did the work on how many could be born over a period of 125 years. And the population of the world might have been about 100,000 is speculated by the time the murder was committed. Then of course when he’s banished to the land of Nod, it says he knew his wife. That means he had a sexual relationship with her and she becomes pregnant. You’ll notice immediately following the phrase says and she conceived and so basically he had babies over there in the land of Nod He took his wife with him and obviously she had to be one of his sisters But you know man when he was created at the beginning was created perfect and I believe because of sin We’ve gone downhill and it wasn’t till later at Mount Sinai that God warned about marrying your brothers and sisters and even cousins.
And I think because of the birth defects that would come by this ancestral relationship, it was no problem apparently at the beginning, but later it became a problem. I hope that helps. Oh, yes. Thank you so much. Well, thank you, Ortha, in Port Charlotte, Florida. And now we’re going to go to Darnell in St. Petersburg in Darnell. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the Earth. I just want to know, would it be scripturally sound to say that upon death, I heard the guy talking about death, that the Bible says that will be changed in the Twinkle Another Eye.
And that’s the reason why there’s a strong difference between clinical death and biblical death because when actual death takes place, it has to so quick or that scripture just solely dealing with the rapture. Now, let’s talk about the rapture that will be caught up and changed in the Twinkle If you die physically, your body will obviously be taken to the grave or cremated or whatever, but your soul is instantly in the presence of the Lord and it’s not coming back if you’re a believer.
If you’re an unbeliever, your soul goes immediately to the heart of the earth to Hades and it’s not coming back. You’ll be there until after the thousand year reign of Christ, then brought up out of Hades, and given a degree of punishment and cast into hell the everlasting lake of fire. So death when it does happen is irreversible but many of these clinical type things were the heart stops. They might define that as death when your heart is stopped beating but you really haven’t died until your soul leaves your body.
Okay, thanks a lot, Dr. Hank. Oh, can I thank you, Darnell, in St. Pete. We have Evelyn in Largo, Florida, and Evelyn, welcome to my line. Hello. Hi, Evelyn. I have a question that’s troubled me many years when I think of it. But basically, I try to not think of it. In the beginning, when God made Adam and Eve and put them in the garden and told them not to take of the fruit that they told not to take.
God would have known ahead of time what choice they were going to make. What would be the point? I mean, he gave a free choice, but at the same time, God knows what we’re going to do tomorrow. And so, by all… Well, you’re absolutely right. And that’s why it says in the Bible that I’ve got to also plan the redemption of man before the foundation of the world. God planned that Christ would come and be slain to redeem us.
But I think the whole point is that God wanted creatures of choice and he allowed choice. He could have made us all robots and we would approach God and stretch out our arms and say, I love you, God, I love you. But he would find no pleasure in that. So he chose to give us choice. And obviously in doing so he knew that sin and anarchy and ruin would come into his universe But he was willing to pay that price because he truly wanted to give us that choice and have creatures of choice Who choose him and love him from the heart and not?
Because we are programed or designed to do that and I think that’s really the answer lies somewhere in all of that and one day when we get to heaven, we’ll understand it as one hymn writer wrote, better by and by. Well, I think I still have the same question because God knew ahead of time what was going to happen. Well, that’s true, but he didn’t know ahead of time because he planned it that way. He knew it because he naturally is not bound by time.
So God knows the future, But he doesn’t know the future because he made our choices for us and there’s a difference. For example, I might know that I’m going to go to the grocery store at 3 o’clock this afternoon because I’m planning to do that. But God doesn’t know it because he planned it that way because he simply knows the future. So knowing the future, he also made provision in advance for Christ to die. He didn’t make you a choice as far as accepting him or not accepting him.
Now there are many areas in which we don’t have a choice. We sin because we are born with a sin-natured heritage from Adam and there’s no way to escape that. Everybody on the planet has sinned and has come short of the glory of God. And of course God has provided a redeemer Christ who died and paid for our sin. But when we trust Him, that’s when we are saved. And once we die, we’ll of course be freed from our sin nature.
And in heaven we’ll get a brand new body that’ll be perfect and it will be free from the presence of sin and from the persuasion of sin, the power of sin will be delivered totally when we wanted to get to heaven. But God knows the future yes, but He didn’t make your decision for you. Thank you. Evelyn, thank you for calling. And this is Bible and I’m Dr. Englundstrom. We have Bill in Tampa. He leaves this question off here just now.
He says, how can one define a cult? Well cults are usually defined as claiming to be somewhat connected to Christianity, not always. But the main definition is that they deny the basic doctrines of Christianity. The fact that the Bible is alone the infallible guide or directive for the believer that we need to go to the Bible. All the cults have other writings that they appeal to. The Jehovah’s Witnesses have the Watchtower Society. The Mormons have the writings of the Mormons and the Book of Mormon.
You have the Christian scientists who have the key to science and scriptures by Mary Maker, Eddie. You have the seven-dad Minnes to have the writings of L.M.G. White. All cults can be defined in that way. Secondly, they usually deny heaven or hell or both. all the cults don’t believe in hell. The Seventh-End and the Son believe in hell. The Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t believe in hell. The Christian scientists don’t believe in hell and so on and so on. So that’s typical.
Usually also they reject the deity of Christ. Very basic doctrine is taught in the Bible and to reject the deity of Christ is also mark of occult. You need to always ask a cult member, is Jesus Christ God? The Jehovah’s Witnesses will say no and most all the cults will deny the deity of Jesus Christ. And so that’s kind of like the answer. They deny the fundamental truths of Christianity and they have other writings that they consider He says, we have Sandra in Plant City for this, she leaves this all fair question.
She says, where does it say that Cain and Abel were twins? Good question. And obviously you must be listening carefully today. Well if you read Genesis 1-1, it says, Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived. There’s one conception. And then we find two children are born. In the case of Cain when he knew his wife, she had one child and of course there were others. But they were obviously probably over a hundred years of age when the murder took place.
If you look over there in Genesis, after the murder we find that Adam knew his wife again and she had Seth. And Seth is the one that is the one through whom the child would come. We also find that that must have taken place 125 years after Adam and Eve had been born. But also when Cain was banished, he says, everyone that findeth me shall slay me. Now, who is he talking about? There must have been quite a crowd out there, and God put a marker on Cain so that they would not kill him.
So Cain was spared death at that point for killing Abel, but we find that Cain was real worried. So there must have been a whole bunch of people out there. He says, everyone, look at Genesis, they’re chapter 4, verse about fourteen. It says, everyone that findseth me shall slay me. And of course we know Adam and Eve had lots of children. If you look at chapter five it says that they lived I think a long time, 850 years or so, and they’d be got sons and daughters.
And so they had lots of kids. But Cain, Abel, and Seth were mentioned in particular because of the lineage of Christ and the Messiah would come through Abel, but he was murdered, so God replaced him with Seth, and that would be the one through whom the Messiah would come. But otherwise they had lots of kids, and then their kids got married and had lots of kids, and you can find that the population of the world was probably significant at the time of the murder.
So Sandra, I hope that helps. There was one conception, verse 1 of Genesis 4, and two births as a result of that one conception. If you follow that, usually you’ll always find that to be the rule. One conception, two children as twins. That happened with Jacob and Esau. They were twins. One conception, two kids. and able were apparently twins, not apparently identical twins, but they were twins in any case and Cain killed Abel. And Cain was an unbeliever. The Bible says that he was of the wicked one Satan.
So Satan really inspired that murder in order to prevent himself from being destroyed by the promise seat of the woman that had been promised by God in Genesis Thank you, Sander, for that question. I hope that helps. Again, the phone lines here today are 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. In our resource center, which by the way you can call and order a resource sheet to be sent to you, you. We will be glad to do that. We have lots of things that we recommend that will be of great help to you in studying the Bible.
We have a number of commentaries, but we have a couple of books on theology that are exceptional. We have the Moody Handbook of Theology by Paul Imms, that’s for a gift of $35. That’s an excellent resource to have in your library. We also have Basic Theology by Charles Ryrie, another wonderful asset a book to have on theology on your bookshelf. And of course, we have a number of commentaries. I’ve mentioned the two that we love to recommend the Jameson Fossek Brown 3-volume commentary that has a comment on every verse of scripture and we also have the Jay Vernon McGee 5-volume commentary that has a comment on every chapter of the Bible.
So, I hope. All right. So, I hope. So, here’s a little bit of a little bit of a With those two, you get some wonderful coverage. Plus, I have all these teachings that I’ve done on CD and some on DVD now that will help you immensely. We have Ralph in Tampa, Florida. On the line is a Ralph. Welcome to my Bible on your On the Air. Yeah, I say, Dr. Hank, a quick question for you. When it comes to being called to ministry and read it before time or what have you, I know you have a double E degree and how did you go about making that decision to full-time ministry and I’m gonna hang up and kind of listen to your response to that All right.
Thank you Ralph, and you know we have three things that you need to look for you see that with the Macedonian call in the book of Acts with Paul and basically you see a need and And then number two, you have a God-given desire to meet that need. So let’s say you see that there are people that are lost that need to know Christ. And then you have a God-given desire to meet that need and try to reach those people with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
And then thirdly, as you try to carry that out, you find that you have the ability to meet that need. that need. If you have all three, you’re probably called. And I noticed that it was happening in my life. That I saw people lost and needing to know Christ. So I had this vision or I saw a need at the University of Florida in my dormitory. And then secondly, I had a desire to meet that need. So I wanted to win these guys to Christ.
And as I attempted to do that, I found that I had the ability to do that. I was successful at it. And then as I moved to the next step and began to teach, I found out that I was successful at that. I had a Bible study that began with two guys and grew outside of the dorm and to a Saturday night study to professors home where we had almost 50 college guys coming to listen to me teach the Bible on Saturday United Swahls was in college.
I just after a period of time said, maybe Lord you’re trying to tell me to do this full time. I pursued it and graduated in electrical engineering from the University of Florida and then went on to train for ministry. That’s what I’ve done all of my life. I’m so glad I made those choices. But I think if those three things are true, you have a calling from God. There’s a need, there’s a desire from God to meet that need, and then you find as you try it, you have the ability to meet that need.
God has gifted you in order to do that, and then if you have all three, you are called. I hope that helps. Now we have Annie in Lakeland, Florida, and Annie, welcome to Bibleline You’re On The Air. Yes, I was wondering, what does Jesus mean whenever He says, everyone knows. he says Lord Lord will not enter into the kingdom. Well what he is saying is that just because you address him as Lord doesn’t mean you are going to get in.
It says in verse 21 there in Matthew 7 where you are quoting that but only those that do the will of my Father will enter in. And of course the will of the Father for you to be saved is to trust Christ. It says in John 640 that Christ says that the will of the Father is that if you recognize who Christ is and believe on him that you would be saved. So the key is that you have to trust Christ to be saved and just because you say Lord and Lord doesn’t mean you’re going to get into heaven.
You have to accept the gospel message, believe that Christ died, shed his blood, was buried, He throws again from the dead, and when you believe that message, and trust Christ is your Savior, the Bible says the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes that message. So those are the ones that enter heaven. But you can say, Lord, do your blue in the face, and it doesn’t mean you’re saved. You have to trust the gospel message.
You have to trust the substitution death of Christ. You shed blood at the cross. What can wash away my sin? The hymn writer wrote, nothing but the blood. hopefully that helps. The will of God for the believer after you are saved is different than the will of God for the person who is lost in getting saved. We have Clinton in Memphis, Tennessee. Clinton, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. How are you doing? I have a quick question for you.
What in Bible does it say that someone kills himself or herself? About suicide? Yes, sir. Well, if you’re not to commit suicide, Clinton, but if you do, you would still be saved. John 637 says Christ would not cast you out for any reason. There’s no exception clause. He doesn’t say except for suicide. Better than that, verse 39, Christ said it’s the Father’s will that not one person who ever gets saved, whatever he lost. Christ said, I’ll lose none, but raise them all up again at the last day.
So hopefully that answers it for you. John 6, 37, and 39 should clear it up for you. Oh, thank you, Father. Suicide is not the unpartable sin. Some teach that, but it’s not. we have mark in england florida mark welcome to my one year hi dr hank uh… i just had a quick question when you’re when you’re uh… raptured and you’re a believer and you’re raptured and the tribulation seven do you get to come back at that thousand years and live on the earth that is correct that is correct.
Just not the people that are saved during the tribulation? No. Those that enter in from the tribulation period in their mortal bodies will actually be the subjects of that thousand year reign. But we’re going to come back and help and rule and reign with Christ during that time in our glorified bodies. So it’s going to be a mixture of the heavens ruling over the earth here. Christ will be visibly seen ruling from Jerusalem and we’re going to come back and as we read earlier in the program that will sit down with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom.
Physically. Yeah. Okay. Well, thank you very much. That’s exciting. I tell you, it excites me. I hope everybody listening is trusted Christ as their savior. And if you haven’t, why not do it right now? You could just say, Lord, I’m a sinner. I don’t understand a whole lot. And I believe Jesus died for me, paid my sin debt in full, was buried, and rose again from the dead. The moment you do that, God saves you. We’re going to have to run.

All right. I’m Dr. Englund. And again, it’s wonderful to be with you every day. Thank you for being a listener and thank you all of you who pray for us. We thank you for those who give and support Bible and with your faithful gifts. We want to thank you so much. It’s absolutely essential. We need your continued support and we hope that you will, if you have not as yet, become a partner with Bible and send a gift to Bible and either a one-time gift or hopefully a a regular gift to Bible and to assure that we stay on the air in your area and are able to expand this ministry out to a world that needs to know about Jesus Christ.
And we believe time is running out. Jesus is coming back. There won’t be much more time and we’re going to be out of here. And so whatever you’re going to do in this life, in this world, is going to count for eternity needs to be done I think right now. We can’t wait around because soon the Lord might come and then the Bible says that the harvest will be passed and our opportunity will have been lost and you can’t do that.
I don’t know if you know anything about farming. I was raised on a dairy farm but I know that there’s a time when you have to act at the time of harvest and people in the Midwest I know they just everybody goes to work together and share in the labor of the harvest because if you don’t the harvest will spoil and rot and certainly you can’t let that happen. When the fruit on the tree is ready to be picked it has to be picked and this is the time of course as Christians that we need to be getting that fruit.
The law needs to be won to Christ and we can do it through Bibleline. We have led many, many to Christ through this program. How wonderful it is to hear those reports coming in. Anyway, pray for us. Call us and you can give a gift by credit card or order from our resource center that’ll help Bibleline as well. Have a great day. Join us again tomorrow if you would and Lord willing we’ll be back and keep looking up. Jesus is coming.
