That’s this Sunday coming up. All right. We’re going to begin today by saying a few words about repent. I’m amazed at how often this particular word is misused. You know, the Greek word translated repent does not mean the same thing as the English word in your English dictionary is trans that is the word repent. The Greek word is metanoia. Metamines change, noia means mind and it means simply a change of mind. And the English word was not a good word to translate into because it didn’t mean the same thing at all.
It means turn from sin or sorrow for sin. So many preachers therefore define repent as turn from sin and guess what? But that just violates what the Bible teaches altogether because you don’t turn from sin to be saved. You trust Christ as Savior to be saved. And yes, I do believe in repentance, but it’s a change of mind, most often, about how sin is paid for and who Jesus Christ is and that salvation is not by works. In the book of Acts, almost every time when you see the word repent used, it is a change of mind about who is Christ.
rejected him because they thought he was an imposter, a fraud, a counterfeit. And therefore, when they were convicted with the fact that he had come back from the dead and that he was alive, they asked what should they do and they were told to change their mind. Realized that they had made a big mistake. They had crucified the Lord of glory and that he was alive and that he was the Savior. And unless they changed their mind and trusted him as their Savior, they would not enter heaven.
Did you know that 86% of the time the word repent is used in the Old Testament, it is God who repents, not man, 86% of the time. In other words, there are 43 times that the English word repent is occurring in the Old Testament and 37 out of the 43 times it is God who repents. Now if it means to turn from sin, you have a holy God who’s not capable of sinning, sinning. Isn’t that amazing? That can’t be.
And so certainly it can’t mean turn from sin or you’ve got God turning from sin. Eighty-six percent of the time when the word is used. That doesn’t mean that at all. And most people get it wrong. Did you know the phrase repent of sin does not even occur in the Bible? Repent occurs in the Bible. Repentance occurs in the Bible. But the phrase repent of sin doesn’t even occur. If you know the correct meaning from the Greek word metanoia, meta-M-E-T-A meaning change, no-I-N-O-I-A meaning mind, a change of mind, the one word, and that is what is translated into the English word repent, bad translation.
But if you know the meaning of the word, it would mean you’d change your mind about sin. Repent of sin would mean to change your mind about sin. I don’t know about you, but I was always taught sin was wrong. Would I, if I repented of my sin, all of a sudden say, wow, what did I miss? Oh my goodness, sin is wonderful. No, no, no, no, no, does it make any sense either? And so does it make any sense?
Well, we’re hearing from the pulpit sometimes. Repent of sin would mean if you know the literal meaning of the Greek word metanoia, change your mind about sin. If you were as I was, taught sin was wrong, would you think all of a sudden sin was okay? Sin was wonderful. Sin was something that we ought to participate in? Of course not. You can see the confusion that reigns in Satan must be jumping up and down for joy Why? Because of this problem that happened in 1611 when the King James translation was made, because the Greek word metanoia was not correctly translated into the English language.
There was no equivalent word, and so if you look up the English word repent in the dictionary, you’ll get the wrong definition. Well, you get the right definition for repent, but the Greek word should have never been translated into that English word. They should have just brought the Greek word into the English language. They did that with the Greek word Babtizo, there was no equivalent word that meant the same thing in the English language. So they took the Greek word Babtizo, dropped the O, put an E in its place, that’s called a transliteration.
They brought the Greek word right into the English language. And so that’s where the word baptize comes from. It is a Greek word that’s been slicked up and made an English word, and we know the meaning anyway, I hope. But you know in the case of Metanoia, it was poorly translated into a word that did not mean the same thing. And as a result, Satan has gotten a victory because works are added to salvation. Isn’t that amazing? How the devil is so clever and how a word can change the meaning.
But Metanoia means a change of mind. And yet have you thought about what happens? I’ve been to many, many churches over the years in crusades and evangelistic events and They would have the preacher preach, and he would say, repent of sin, and then he’d define that you have to turn from your sin to be saved. And then guess what? The choir would stand up and sing, just as I am, I come. Without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me.
Does anybody think in here? The preacher’s saying, turn from your sin to be saved. The choir stands up and says, no, don’t believe him. Just as I am, I come without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, you don’t have to turn from your sin. The preacher apparently comes right around and contradicts the choir again and says, don’t listen to the choir. You have to turn from your sin. Repent of sin. And then the choir stands up again and sings just as I am I come.
They’re not singing the same message. You know, if you did have to turn from sin, and I used to hear that as a kid, turn or burn, toil or boil, forsake or bake. You stay here or maul. And you know, none of that’s true. None of that’s true. The Bible says we just come as we are, just like the hymn writer wrote, just as I am I come without one plea but that Thy blood was shed for me. Isn’t that wonderful?
I love the hymn. God received its sinful men. That’s the only kind there are. Christ said he didn’t come to heal the righteous but to save the sinners. Here we are, all of us in the human race, sinned, have sinned and have come short of the glory of God, we need a Savior, Jesus is that Savior, all we need to do is come and trust Him and we’ll be saved. Then here we go, here we go, then we receive the Holy Spirit in dwelling us, then we receive the power to be able to have victory over sin.
To ask the lost person to do something he has no power to do, to ask the lost person to do something that he’s not required to do, to be saved, craziness. But after a person gets saved, then the Holy Spirit indwells the believer. The Holy Spirit convicts that believer of their sin. The Holy Spirit gives them power to have victory over sin. I’ll never forget a lady coming to me and she said, I’m going to go to hell. I said, why?
She said, I was totally pen of my sin. I said, And she said, I was told that I had to stop smoking or I’d go to hell. And she said, I’ve tried for years and years. I haven’t been able to stop. And I told her, you know, smoking will not send you to hell. Now people in hell will smoke, but smoking doesn’t send you to hell. I told her, you know, repent means a change of mind. Anyway, she understood that she simply needed to trust Christ.
And the cigarette was not the problem. She needed to be saved. She trusted Christ three weeks later. She comes back to me and she says, guess what? I said what? She said, I don’t smoke anymore. She said, the Lord just took it away from me. I don’t desire to smoke and it’s gone. I just don’t smoke anymore. Isn’t that wonderful? Isn’t that wonderful? You know, people get things backwards. And you don’t ask the lost person to do something that’s not required.
Nor do you ask the lost person to do something that doesn’t have the power power to have victory over, but you get the person saved by simply having them trust Jesus Christ and then the Holy Spirit comes into their life and they can have the power to have victory over the sins that grip their lives. Repent means to change your mind. If you have any kind of concordance, you can look up the Greek word for yourself, but it is metanoia in the New Testament.
Metamining changed, noi amining mine. And yes, you have to repent to be saved, but it’s a change of mine. Let me give you this phrase. If you understand this, you understand repentance. You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. Let me say that again. You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. What does that mean? You can repent, you can change your mind about Christ, about salvation, about the whole thing, and not believe, not trust Christ.
Still be lost. But you cannot believe, you cannot trust Christ without having repented, without having changed your mind. It’s impossible to believe, to trust Christ, without changing your mind from whatever you’re previously trusting in. So saving faith includes and implies that change of mind, which is called repentance, which is a change of mind. If you trust Christ, you do in the process change your mind, you do repent. I didn’t realize until years later after I got saved that I had repented.
I didn’t know the meaning of the word at all. But as I began to study God’s word, I learned that while the night that I got saved, I changed my mind about a lot of things. I thought salvation was my works. I changed my mind and realized it wasn’t out of works. I thought Jesus was just a great teacher, a good man. I learned that he was God. I changed my mind about the person of Christ. There was a bunch of things I changed my mind about as I understood what the Scriptures were saying to me.
And I trusted Christ as my Savior and I received the gift of eternal life. And as I look back, I repented. I changed my mind about the deity of Christ. I changed my mind about salvation being by faith and not by works. I changed my mind about a number of things. What about you? If you have trusted Christ, is your only hope of heaven, then you have in the process changed your mind from whatever you previously thought or believed prior to.
We’re going to go to those phone lines. Alright, we have Fred waiting on the line. Fred is calling from Bradenton, Florida welcome to by one yes how you doing good you have a good young sure have okay I’m glad he is a commentary you know a new king James version well okay well what he did here I’m didn’t realize it have seven of revelation take is when it said that then he came and took the scroll out of the right hand of him who sat on well he is well he is Christ and right and and Christ the lamb took the book out of the right hand there’s a god the father and there is a price who here is the lamb the man Jesus becomes the one that’s been exalted to the right hand of god the father and here he is the one who takes notice
scroll from the father okay so he’s literally sitting I mean, we’ll be sitting on the right end of the Father. Yes. Okay. That’s the way I take it. There’s three there Yeah, but the Holy Spirit will be right there in the front You know in this book a revelation begins it is addressed to us from all three members of the Godhead from God the Father from Jesus Christ the Son and from the Holy Spirit and that’s in chapter one versus four through six so this letter is addressed to us by the whole Godhead Let’s try it.
That’s the way I take it. I’d go along with that. Okay, I just wanted to see if we were on the same page. I don’t know why they can get these verses like that sometime. You know, as a young believer, I found that with commentaries and books that I bought. The only book you can trust is the Bible. And you always have to be careful when you’re reading any book or commentary. Yeah, it’s been very good. It’s been helpful.
I mean, it just take it. It’s what God says. You know, when I’m reading. Well, a friend, we’re glad you called today. I appreciate it. You’re welcome. That was Fred down in Bradenton and talking about Revelation 5, 7. We believe that happens right after the Rapture that Jesus takes the title deed to the planet earth from God the Father and then as he opens the seals of the book, the title deed to the earth, the way is prepared in heaven and on earth for Jesus to come back and take away this earth from Satan who is presently the God of this world and rule over this earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
One thing that’s interesting that we covered as we began our study here in the book of Revelation, by the way, those are all on CD. You can order the entire course on CD from us. You can call our numbers and our operators will tell you how to do that. But you know the book of Revelation, the title at the top of your page is wrong on two counts. Isn’t that amazing? The title is not inspired, but it says the revelation of St.
John the Divine. Well first of all, that’s totally wrong. The book was written to reveal Jesus Christ, not John. And the true title is in verse 1 where it says the revelation of Jesus Christ. But look at what men have done. They call it the revelation of Saint John the Divine. Secondly, John was not divine. He’s not deity. And so it’s wrong on a second count. It’s amazing, isn’t it? I believe the word of God to be true. But look at how you can have your Bible in your hand and you look at the human title added here to the top of the page of your Bible and it’s wrong on two counts.
How can that happen? How can that happen? How can that happen? I mean, it’s amazing. So be careful whatever you read. Stick with the Bible and you’ll come out okay. We’re going to go to Nila and she’s in Lake Mary Florida and Nila, welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Good morning, Dr. Lindstrom. Yes. Yes, I’m calling with a question about health, the postal click. In our church yesterday, we were asked to recite the postal click. And when I came to the part where it says that he descended into hell, I did not say the phrase because I have heard from you that this has been going to hell.
And I really respect by now what you teach us through the station. I’ve listened to you for about two years. Good for you, isn’t it? So I would like to see to hear from you about this matter of peace of defending to hell. And where did he go? I know that you said that he went through the center of the earth or the heart of the earth where paradise and Hades are. but I’m not, I don’t have any verses to confirm that.
Well, I hope you have your pencil ready and I’ll give it to you. Yes, I’m going to hang up and listen so like that I can write the verses. Good. Okay. Thank you very much and have a nice day. Same to you, Nila. Bye bye. Nila, it’s, Satan would love to have you a blue-priced one to help. And there’s a lot of people that teach that, but that is not true. And the Apostles Creed is wrong saying he descended in the help.
Right down Matthew 1240, Jesus said, as Jonah was three days and three nights in the Fishes Valley, social as Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, right in the center of the earth. That’s Matthew 1240. Then in Luke 2343, Jesus told the dying thief on the cross that believed, today thou shalt be with me in paradise. So we know, therefore, paradise was in the heart of the earth and that’s where Jesus went.
And we know also that when Christ ascended from in the heart of the earth, He led a group of people captive that were all of the Old Testament saints that have been waiting there in paradise for their sins to be paid for. In Ephesians chapter 4, Ephesians chapter 4 verses 8 through 10. It says that Christ descended first into the lower parts of the earth. And then it says when he ascended, he led a group captive up to heaven itself.
And so we know that Jesus went down into the heart of the earth. And there the dying thief was there and all of the believers in the Old Testament were there. On the third day Christ emptied the place out and led these people up to heaven itself. That’s Ephesians 4, 8 through 10. So the three verses I just gave you are Matthew 12, 40, Luke 23, 43, and Ephesians 4, 8 through 10. I hope you got all of those and that should help you a great deal.
Christ never went to hell. And what is so amazing is that hell is empty. There’s nobody in hell yet. It was created for Satan as angels. Matthew 2541, Christ says to the lost that they are to be cast into the lake of fire prepared for the devil and as angels. But the devil and as angels are first in and they’re not cast in until after Christ is ruled and reigned on this earth for a thousand years. Thank you, Nila.
Nice talking to you today and you have a great day. We’re going to go to Thelma in Lithium and Thelma. Welcome to Bibleline. There we go. Your radio is feeding back a little bit. Okay. I was… Can you turn your radio down? I was telling you about the doctor William May Cruz. He was saying that chapter one and two were talking about the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and are gathering together into Him that we be not soon shaken in minor, in mind, or be troubled, need a Bible spirit, nor a Bible word, nor a Bible letter, as from us said, that today of Christ is at hand.
He said that was the rapture. here. Well, yeah, what happened there was that somebody wrote a letter apparently it seems that and sign Paul’s name to it and the four people at Tesla, like, are were told apparently the rapture happened and they were left behind. Yeah. And Paul was saying go anybody you deceive you by means because that isn’t true. And he says that the Holy Spirit has to be taken out before the tribulation period will be underway and the antichrist will be revealed.
It talks about a departure here in verse 3. It’s translated into King James a following away, but the Greek is really a departure and in verse 7 it tells us that the departures of the one who is hindering iniquity in this world today, the Holy Spirit, and when He’s taken out, we’re taken out. And so when we go, that’s the departure that will take place, and then the Antichrist will be revealed and the Tribulation period will be in their way.
Yes, he was called the waking hour and he said there wasn’t no gathering in the sky. He said that was the gathering. Well, there is a gathering in the sky and that is the Rapture and it’s very clear in chapter four and verse 17 that we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Yes. So there’s going to be a meeting in the I’m going to be there.
That’s what I was thinking too, you know. Absolutely. So be careful, just stick with your Bible and you’re going to be just fine, Tom. That’s what I’m sticking with and I don’t believe what he was saying. I believe what he did. That’s the way I always believe. Cause some people used to tell me you have to do work. Oh my. I told them when the man asked what kind of work he should do to be saved. And he said, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, that was the work of God.
Amen. The work that God did for us at Calvary through Jesus is the work that we believe on. And that work was finished. As Christ said, it is finished. And when we trust him, we’re saved. That’s right. So that’s what I know. And when I heard you teaching that, I said, that’s the right teacher there. the one I want to follow. Well, it fell to the Lord, but I’m glad that I’m pointing out things from the Bible that a lot of people are not pointing out today.
Yeah, I’m mean you’re teaching, you know. Yeah, right. I understand. I’m teasing with you. Okay. Well, God bless you and thank you for calling in. God bless you too Hank. God bless you too, Hank. God bless you too, you live until you everyday. That’s wonderful. Okay. And you tell your friends about it too. Okay. All right. Bye-bye now. Bye. All right. That was Selma and Lithia. Lydia, Lydia Springs, I’ve been out there before, and when I was working with young people we often take a huge.
A little bit or two out there to swim and enjoy. And beautiful springs out there. Well, here we are Bibleline. We’re coming to you from our studios at Calvary Community Church. Alright, we have Howard in Sarasota, Florida. And Howard, welcome to Bibleline. Are you there? Hello. Hey Howard. How are you? Good. You have a special grandparent called and enjoyed it. Wonderful. I heard you speaking the other day, you were talking about the gap theory. And I don’t believe it’s a theory, I think it’s the truth.
I call it the gap fact, but that’s all right if people don’t agree. Yeah. And I had a question about it because when I was speaking about it one time, somebody Somebody said, why does that gatzeri is true? Then why is it that we can see the millions of white years away from the time we’re creation tomorrow may not have even reached our planet yet we can still see them? What’s a good answer for that? You know, they don’t have a good answer for that.
And it’s almost like to me if that were true it would be like a deception that God plans on the way of tricking us all if he created it just six thousand years ago and then we have this deception with tree rings and light coming to us from millions of Light years away Well, we have to come up on break here But we’ll finish this after the break time on Dr. Uncle Instruments is Bible and and and we’ll be right back So don’t change that dial stay tuned right here to Bible and I’ll be right back and answer your question To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771.
That’s 1-800-576-3771. Hi, I’m Dr. Englund Sermann. It’s great to be with you. We certainly enjoy being with you each and every day. We had a wonderful time over the past couple of weeks going to Israel. We have lots of people talking to us about going again. And if you’d like to get on that list, please call. 800 number 1-800-576-3771 and let us know if you’re interested. It doesn’t mean you’re signing up today because we’re not even ready to sign anybody up.
But we would like to know if you’re interested and we’ll get you on a list and we’ll like your input. We have people telling us they would like to maybe go to another country, so we’re talking about Greece, we’re talking about Petra and Jordan, we’re talking about Egypt, but we can’t do them all. So we need to get your input. When’s the best time for you to go? We’re ready to go. And it’ll be a lot of fun. We had a marvellous trip, good hotels, good meals.
We felt absolutely safe. We never even heard a car back fire. It was a wonderful time. And we got to baptize people in the Jordan. We got to float around in the Dead, Dead Sea. We got to visit the Tomb of Christ. We got to visit the Hill of Calvary. It was a spectacular time. Let us know. We’d love to have you go on our next trip to Israel. By the way, also I hope you’ll get a resource sheet from us and also look on our online book store.
We have done a lot of series where I’ve taught the Bible verse by verse. We just finished first Peter. We’re about to do second Peter. We also have done the Gospel of John. That was a wonderful, wonderful study. We have approximately 20 hours of teaching on the Gospel of John that are available and we’ve broken into two halves so you can get it part one and part two, about 10 hours of teaching each in those series, and 20 hours total, verse by verse, on the Gospel of John.
We also did the Book of Jude, the Book of Romans. We’ve done the Book of Hebrews which is considered a difficult book. And a lot of, if you go out there searching for a common tenor on Hebrews, they’re scarce. Those writers don’t even dare tackle the book, but we tackled all the hard questions, all the hard problems, and dealt with them. And I think Hebrews will come alive to you if you don’t have that set. We also have some wonderful commentaries here that Jameson Fossek Brown is my favorite for gift of $100.
We have that three volume set that gives you something on every verse in the Bible. Powerful, powerful stuff. In any case, I hope you’ll call us and get a resource sheet or go online, look at our online bookstore and take advantage of all the things that we have available for you. We’re going to join the stations that have been on break into the second half hour by blind. So keep your radio tuned right where it is and here we go.
We’re getting ready now to join those other stations and we’ll do. The second half hour of Bibleline right now. You’d like to help Bibleline continue in your area? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back for now break and we were just talking to Howard about the gap. We believe that exists between Genesis 1-1 and Genesis 1-2, that the earth in verse 1 was originally created, perfect and inhabited.
You tie that with Isaiah 45-18, it tells us that God did not create the earth void. Verse 2, it says, and the earth was without form and void. Well, the very same Hebrew word is used in Isaiah 4518 and says that when God created the earth, He did not create it void. So you got a problem with that, that has to be dealt with. And so we believe that it was created as it says in Isaiah 4518, perfect and habitated with plants, animals, dinosaurs, and that all of God’s angels lived on the original earth and lived there probably for millions, even billions of years.
Happily until Lucifer decided to overthrow heaven. And so all the angels lived on the earth, they never lived in heaven. When Lucifer planned his rebuy and he took a third of the angels, or God’s angels here on the earth, and according to the book of Jude, they left their first estate. That means their first piece of real estate. It says they left the habitation that God had given to them, which was the planet earth. And then God judged the angels and he also judged the earth and all life on the earth was extinguished.
The earth was totally flooded in verse 2. Darkness was upon the face of the oceans. The earth became frozen. just six thousand years ago the Holy Spirit moved upon the face of the waters. That word moved means to brood upon, to incubate. He warmed up the earth, thought it out, made it ready for life again. And in seven days there was a reappointment of the earth for a new purpose and he creates animals that breathe there. And on the sixth day he created man apart from all the animals.
And on the seventh day God rested and here we are. And Peter, interestingly, about in 2 Peter chapter 3 that there was an earth that was prior to Genesis 1-1 and then Peter implies an earth that is now from the recreative week of seven days that will take us all the way down until the judgment of unsaved men in 2 Peter 3-8 when this earth will be renovated by fire. And then he speaks about in verse 13 of 2 Peter 3, a new heavens in a new earth.
And so there was a past earth, a present earth, and a future earth. Most people don’t preach on that. But Peter talks about an earth that was, an earth that now is, and an earth that shall be, a new heavens and new earth. We’re on the earth that now is. And we’re in the interval between the re-creative week. I call it the re-creative week until The thousand year rule of Christ is over, and then God will judge the unsaved of mankind, and then we see a new heavens and new earth.
So I hope that helps a little bit, but I think there are many gaps in the Bible. Daniel 9 talks about a prophecy of 490 years or 70 weeks of years that would conclude all of prophecy. And there are 69 weeks that occur and bring us right up to the death of Christ. By the way, that was fulfilled to the very day. Daniel 926 tells us that after the 69 weeks, the Messiah would be cut off. I believe, as Isaiah says, out of the land of the living that He’d be slain.
Not for Himself but for our sins. And then it talks about Jerusalem and the temple being destroyed by the Romans, predicting that 500 years in advance of it happening. And then there’s a gap between verse 26 and 27 of 2000 years, and the 70th week of Daniel is still unfulfilled, which is the tribulation period. It talks about in that wonderful verse that the Antichrist will guarantee Israel’s peace, allow the Jews to rebuild their temple and start animal sacrifices again, then he’ll break that peace that he promises them, and he’ll stop the sacrifices.
And we learn from other passages that amplify what he said there that the Antichrist will go into the temple and proclaim that he’s got a demand to be worshipped. And that’ll bring on the second half of the seven-year tribulation period, which will be the most intense and it’ll be a time of trouble. The Bible says such as not been since the beginning of the world. We’re going to go to Palm Harbor and we’re going to talk to, in my pronouncing a L.
O. L. It looks like an eye. Thank you. Al, welcome to the Bibleline. Thank you. Thank you for all that you’ve done. I hope you’ve had a great weekend. I have a this morning. I try to get my information through various sources. And this morning, I don’t know how many people actually got up early. There was a program called the Awakening Hour with Dr. William Cruz. I don’t know if you know anything about that stuff. No, I don’t. Okay.
It’s pretty interesting. Every time I listen to this guy’s program, he really gets fired up. You know what I mean? But anyway, he was dwelling on some scriptures this morning in 2nd Thessalonians. Okay. One, he went one through eight, but really, you can deal with that a little bit later. But I’m talking about various scriptures, one through three. And in this, He is a, you know, like some of us, some people say that, you know, the, those that are saying will go through the tribulation and some of us say that Jesus will come back and snatch this church up before the tribulation, he claims that these scriptures second person and one through three all the way to eight, really says that in actuality, we will be here for the tribulation.
And that instead of having two second comings, to like Jesus come back and that’s the church up, you know, we’ll be raptured. And then, you know, after a certain period of time, he comes back, you know, for those that didn’t just say the first time, he seems to think that there’s just going all of this is going to happen at one time. And if you’ll read one through three, maybe you can help us clear that up a little bit.
Okay. You know, I believe he’s terribly mistaken and terribly wrong. You know, we go through tribulations, but we’re not going to go through the tribulation. And here it’s talking about that that church was persecuted for their faith, and obviously we’re experiencing persecutions and tribulations that they endured, verse 4. And so obviously every one of us is believers, if we’re going to live for the Lord, experience trials and tribulations in our life. But there is a seven-year period coming up that is the tribulation period that cannot happen until the Holy Spirit is taken out.
And when He goes, we go. And in chapter 2 it makes that clear. It says, He that now is letting. The word let has changed meaning since 1611. And now means to hinder. And so the one who is hindering iniquity in this world will be taken out. And then obviously when he goes we go because he involves us permanently. In verse three it talks about this departure of the Holy Spirit. And when that happens then the day of the Lord will start.
And that day of the Lord includes the seven year tribulation period and a thousand year rule of Christ. And so we’re not going to be here for one second. And the Bible in first Thessalonians makes it clear we’re not to wait for the blessed tribulation period, which wouldn’t be blessed, of course, but we’re to wait for his son from heaven. So the next event of God’s program is Christ coming for us and There’s a difference made clear in the Bible that Christ comes for us at the rapture and Seven years later comes with us so we come back with him at the end of the seven years But he comes for us at the event of the rapture and generally This error comes because they don’t recognize that the church age is a unique age all to itself that has been slipped in between the two comings of
Christ. And if you don’t recognize a difference between the church and the Gentile and the Jew and God’s program for all three, then you totally will be confused. And that’s why it says in Second Timothy 2.15 study to show yourself approved under God a workman that needs not to be ashamed. Al, I’d love to invite you over to my classes that we will straighten all this out. And you’ll be able to see it very clearly, clearly, especially in our class on the Rapture, where we spend a lot of time on the chronology and when things will happen and why they happen when they happen.
And when you get all done with that class, I think you’ll have it very, very clear. But I go through persecution. I have, not everybody likes me. And as believers, we don’t experience some of the persecution like they did back then in this country at least. But in other parts of the world, Christians are being martyred today at a rate greater than perhaps any other time in history just for believing in Jesus as Savior. And if you read the paper, you can follow this and there’s been a silent holocaust in the North Africa where millions have been killed by Muslims for the mere fact that they are believers in Jesus Christ.
We’re going to go to Clearwater. We’re going to talk to Sheila. Welcome to Bibleline. Hi, thank you. I had a friend and I were talking yesterday about revelation and there’s something I don’t quite understand. I’m hoping to. I’m hoping you can talk about the new heaven, the old heaven and earth disappearing and the and nobody’s shocked. You know, the gate will always be open and there is God. There shall by no means enter it anything that took out the club from the denomination.
Or even makes a lie. Or even makes a lie. One right. But what is that talking about coming from the earth into heaven? No, what’s happening is that heaven, which we believe according to the Bible is in the north of our universe, that there is a heavenly city called the City of the Living God and that city will come down and I believe orbit the new earth after the thousand year reign of Christ and that’s where we’re going to live and the Lamb Christ will live in that city with us and there will enjoy the Lord forever and the gates of that city be open so we can go down and enjoy the new earth and perhaps explore the rest of space if we want.
I believe we’ll have a lot of exciting things ahead for us. But once the thousand year rule of Christ is over and Satan is cast into the everlasting lake of fire, along with his angels, then the lost of mankind will also be cast into hell. And it says at that time when God sets up that judgment to throw the angels and all the lost of mankind into hell that the earth is destroyed and infleeced from his presence in Revelation 20 verse 11.
Then in chapter 21, in verse one, talks about how that I saw new heavens in the north for the first heavens and first earth were passed away and then it’s up and he sees this new Jerusalem coming down from heaven and it’s a huge it’s larger in dimensions than the moon and it will orbit the earth and it’ll sparkle like a diamond that’s where I’m gonna live that’s where your mansions will be going like we can you can go in and out of heaven to the new earth yeah I believe we’re gonna get to enjoy the new earth when you ask them to come down to stroll on some beautiful pristine beach in okay what it was a part about when uh…
i can’t remember where it was in the bible that when people are judged that aren’t going into heaven that there will be degrees of judgment absolutely they’re numerous verses that teach that and then revelation for the time to go down right those that are going to hell uh… revelation twenty verses eleven fifteen says that they’ll be judged according to their works and that is to assign them a degree of punishment and hell and then we cast into the lake of fire everybody in that judgment is lost everybody in that judgment will go to hell everybody in that judgment will receive a resurrection body that will stand hell and everybody in that resurrection judgment will receive a degree of punishment and how based upon their works so everybody is going to be into close to hell with and would be punished exactly the same money will not
uh… uh… jesus book about the religious leaders of his time getting a greater degree of punishment because they misled people. He says, whoa, and he ascribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites over there in Matthew 23. And he says, you’re going to receive a greater degree of amnation than others because you have misled people. I appreciate that. Now, could you just tell me one more thing you were talking about the when Jesus comes back for us. What chapter was that in?
First Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 13 through 18 first Thessalonians 4 and chapter 4 verse 13 through 18 and that speaks about those that are living when Jesus returns will be caught up to meet him in the clouds in the air and from that point on it says will ever be with the Lord. Yeah that part I believe I just couldn’t understand it knew having a new worth and you know a because it says nobody with sin would come in, well, who would be there to come in?
Well, you know, as a believer, you’re declared righteous before God because Christ traded places with you. You know, He took your sin and paid for it. And so every believer has been credited with the righteousness of Christ. So if you were to stand before God in your own righteousness, you’d be cast into hell, too. But if you trust Christ, God sees you as a believer as righteous. But I just wondered why they even put that in that no means enter.
shall be by no means enter into it that the foul that if everybody’s in now there wouldn’t be anybody wrong to go in and i’m not going to go down with it well it’s a reference of the fact that those who have not uh… received the payment that christ made for their sins will stand before god in their sins and those in will be allowed into the new Jerusalem or into the new earth and so those that have died without christ will obviously be uh…
cast into the everlasting like a fire Okay, but you don’t have to worry second Corinthians 5. I’m not worried about it. I just make it curious. I know where I’m going good Well second Corinthians 5 21. I love this verse Sheila it says that God made Christ to be sin for us Christ who knew no sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in him No, wonderful verse it tells us really that our sins relate upon Christ Christ substituted himself in our place when we trust that he He made that full payment for our sins that he credits our account with his righteousness so that when God looks down upon the believer, he sees us even though we’re sinners, he sees us righteous because he’s paid our sin debt and has credited our account with his righteousness.
That’s got to be the best news anybody’s ever. I’m looking forward to the day. This isn’t my home. I feel like I don’t even belong here. I agree with Sheila. I’ll meet you in the air. Yeah, Bryce, go on. Thank you very much. All right. Sheila in Clearwater, I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline and it’s fun to be with you here. I’m able to talk about the scriptures. Isn’t that great that we can do that? And the marvel of our modern world that we can communicate to you whether you’re in your heart.
home. You know, we have a number of people in the jails that are listening. I want to welcome all of those to the Bible and show. And sometimes we forget to mention them, but we hear from different ones that are listening to the Bible and listening to this program in the different jails and the different counties around in this listening area. We’re excited about Bible and I hope you’ll pray for us. We need your help every week to keep this program going.
It requires a lot of money to pay for the program. I don’t That’s a good thing. YouUSER. The G.E. And we have to pay every week the bill to be on the air. And so if you’d like to partner with us and say, I’d like to keep that program going. I’d like to vote to keep Bibleline on the air. I’d like to be a part of that. Well, you can send a gift to Bibleline at 4811 George Road in Tampa, Florida.
And the zip code is 33634. And by the way, you can also call the number after the program403 about 3 o’clock in the afternoon. order resources from us. Abedin And Bei, it’s because of your support and your backing as listeners. We’re on the air. God bless every one of youossibility. We love you and we really appreciate your weekly and monthly regular help. And now we’re going to go to St. Petersburg and talk to Armando. Welcome to the Bible. Good morning, Dr. Lister. Good morning. Can you hear me? I hear you. Okay. We got to your first caller. He said that he actually about the but take the book from the hand of the shadow.
Yes. Okay. How can a lamb take a book? Is that I think that symbolic? Well, it’s symbolic of the of the first coming. You notice in that passage in Revelation 5 Christ is pictured as a lion and he’s the lion of the tribe of Judah. We know that Christ came out of the tribe of Judah and he’ll rule as a king. The lion is a picture of his future coming when he comes as a lion as a king to rule over the earth.
And in his first coming, He came as a lamb and was sacrificed to pay for our sins. He’s one and the same. The lion and the lamb are the same person. But in order to come back as king, he had to first come as a lamb. So we have to get our order straight. Christ could not reign as king on this earth unless he first came as a lamb and defeated Satan so that he can take away this planet from Satan’s power.
And what’s happening in Revelation chapter 5 is that the title deed to the earth is in the hand of the Father and Jesus because he came as a lamb and defeated Satan. Satan now can take the title deed and come back a second time as the lion of the tribe of Judah and rule over the earth and bring peace on earth Good will toward men I have another follow-up question. I have read the blog Bible and I haven’t found one verse that speak about three trons in heaven even in I sayFlags the vision that I say had he said that he saw the Lord and I believe it’s in John John says that that you know about trees in heaven I know three thrones thrones like one of the thrones I’m sorry I thought you I miss understood you yeah well there are twenty four thrones in revelation chapter one in
revelation chapter four there are twenty four thrones around the throne of God Yeah, but what I’m talking about that one from the father one from the son of one for the holy one No, there’s one throne, but all three Think about one throne and even Jesus. I always did with my father in his throne. Oh, yeah, absolutely There’s only one throne, but God manifests himself as three eternal separate persons and all three around that throne That’s what I’m trying to explain because the way you call the man is in giving application that there’s one strong in the right hand and there’sillery on the left and that is free because the virus is free and the law is free.
Alright we were in agreement. Okay that’s what I wanted. I just wanted to clarify that. Well thank you Armando appreciate that. Alright we have one God. He eternally existed as three separate persons got the Father got the Son got the Holy Spirit, and we’re on same page there. All right, the Here Bible in 1-800-576-3771. Again, I want to thank all of you as listeners, and we have that new book now, Understanding Roman Catholicism, where the author, 220 pages, takes this catechism, which I see in front of me here, a monstrous thing, very boring reading, over a thousand pages and pulls out 37 different Catholic doctrines from the catechism and quotes the catechism.
and then it takes scriptures so you can compare the teachings of Rome with the teachings of the Bible. You’ll find this one very, very, very helpful. It’s like a, wow, somebody’s done a lot of homework for you. Looked up the Bible verses, looked up the catechism quotes, and you can compare for yourself and make up your mind for a gift of $12. We can send that out to you, you can come by and pick it up. But that’s really exciting.
We also have that book on evangelism called the Handbook of Personal Evangelism. You can’t get it anywhere else except through us. That book tells you how to open the conversation, what to say when the conversation is going and how to close it and leave that person to Christ. Talks about different cults, about how to talk to an atheist, an agnostic, an evolutionist, and so on and so on. And just your neighbor or your family member. It tells you basically how to do it, how to open that conversation up, what to say when your mouth is going and then what to do to close it down and wind it up and leave the person to Christ.
Which is probably the hardest thing that people have problems with is they might get it going but they don’t know how to wind it up and actually leave the person to Christ. We’re going to Janet in Sarasota and Janet welcome to Babylon. Good morning Dr. Hanlon. Welcome to In A While. I have two questions. The first one I’ve been reading a book called Jewish Women’s Philosophy by Randall Christ. He speaks about Gershin Solomon and I was just wondering have we heard anything from Mr.
Solomon recently? Well we have and we have him coming in June I haven’t announced it yet do the first one to hear that but we have him scheduled to come this June to Calvert Community Church. Oh so he can never take the end of that. He’s unsafe, he’s an Orthodox Jew, but he is probably the man maybe that will rebuild the temple after we go out at the rapture and so we might actually be looking at shaking hands with and talking to the guy who after we’re gone will build the third temple that Christ will come back and actually enter in cleanse and so quite exciting and he’s excited.
I’ve told him, you’re not saved, you’re going to be left behind, and he smiles. And he believes that we’re not correct, but I told him when we all disappear, as you’re praying that you’ll trust the Lord after we’re gone, because he’s such a nice fellow, we’d hate to have him not be saved. But I think somebody has to do it, and he’s had this vision since the 67 War to rebuild owns and prepare everything. Cooldown and my second question isZip, do you have any opinion on it?
As to what happens to preachersriend instr but have various opinions, you know, post-millennial, on-millennialism and replacement theology, you know, because they’re really deceiving their congregations, even though they’re preaching the gospel, are they saved or not? Well, you can be saved and be missing. the teacher of God’s word. I have a standard and a J. J says they are ruping them against the ground. So I want to show you their obligations to my people who may have been 2010. And I will do it that I I would rather do anything else in life.
I graduated in Electroengineering and I said, I’m not gonna, Patty Cake it. I’m not gonna change the answers to make people happy. And so I’ve been trying to be a straight shooter all these years to tell the truth from the Bible whether people liked it or not. And I believe a lot of people appreciate that. I think I’m a fresh breath of air for some to say, thank God somebody’s out there saying it like it is. That’s what we’re trying to do here.
And I just don’t understand, you know, you can read the Bible and get the truth out of it and they’re reading the same thing and just absolutely just sort everything. Well what happens is they go to some of these cemeteries, I mean cemeteries, I hate to say that, but you know a lot of cemeteries program these people and they don’t know much about the Bible and then they are given their belief system that they try to make the Bible fit and it’s like trying to put square pegs in their own holes and it never works their whole life.
They never get it right because the cemetery, I mean the seminary is a mess them up. I appreciate it. Thank you so much. Alright we really need to go back to the Bible and sometimes people come to the Bible with their beliefs already established. I’ve talked to people like that and they say, don’t mix me up with the facts. I already know what I believe and those facts that you’re giving me are confusing me. Those quotes from the Bible are really mixing me up and I don’t want to hear you anymore because you’re mixing me up.
I usually tell them, no, I’m getting you unmixed up. I’m getting you clarified, whereas you have to mix up all your life. Basically, we have to really be careful what we read. I have tons of books, but let me tell you. I am very cautious to recognize that these books contain error. The only book that is without error that is the infallible word of God is the Bible I have in front of me here and the Bible that you have in front of you.
And that’s the book we have to trust and everything else should be evaluated in line of it. We’re running out of time. Phones are still ringing. We’ve got people that want to get on the air. But we’ll be back tomorrow morning at 10. I hope you’ll join us. And also jot down the number and call us after the program up until 3. Maybe about our resources. Maybe you’d like to give a gift to Bible and keep us on the air.
We really do. That’s a real need. We really need your help. And I wouldn’t say it if we didn’t. And we want to thank all of you in advance that we’ll give. Dr. Englunds from Gotta Run, we’ll be back tomorrow. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming and real soon. I believe. There’s only one savior, only one who came back from the dead, only one who can make good on his promises, that is the Lord Jesus Christ, isn’t that exciting?
