Lindstrom’s teaching for today. Verse 28, all this came upon King Nebuchadnezzar. to remember, Nebuchadnezzar is giving his testimony, he’s telling you, here’s what happened. He says, I was in my house at rest verse 4, and I was flourishing in my palace. And then I had this dream, and it really shook me up. And he wanted to know what the answer was. Well, in verse 29, at the end of 12 months, he says, here I was walking in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

Apparently, he had forgotten what he had heard 12 months earlier. He should have learned from Daniel, and maybe he had more years of tranquility. But the king’s vacant. Look at what he says. He is not this great Babylon that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power and for the honor of my majesty. Well, He’s just going on full of pride, isn’t he? Bragging about how this Babylon was his creation and that he was the one that made it all happen, forgetting that God is the one that rules in the kingdom of men.

And God is the one that allowed and every can measure to prosper and become wealthy and to be greatly used. And notice what happens. Verse 31, catch this. While the word was in the king’s mouth, While the word was in the Kings mouth, while he’s speaking those most full words, what happens? Well, it says there, a voice from heaven said, oh, King Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it has spoken, the kingdom is departed from thee. Whoa, just that quick. God says, it’s over.

It’s over. They shall drive thee from men. Thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make thee eat like grass as the oxen. seven times he’ll pass over to the most high rule of the kingdom of men and give it to whom soever he will. So the same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven from men and did he grasp as oxen. He had a form of insanity which is rare but is known.

You can read about this where he becomes like an animal. And he just loses his mind and he just lives out in the field. And eats grass and says his body was wet with a dew of heaven. Tell his hairs were grown like eagles feathers and his nails like birds claws. So his nails became long, his hair became long. He was unkept and unclean and living out in the grass like a beast and eating grass from the field. And Nebuchadnezzar lost his mind.

He became insane and lost his kingdom as well. Verse 34, the seven times we believe was seven years that he remained in that insane state. And then in verse 34, at the end of the days, I, Nebuchadnezzar lifted up my eyes unto heaven, and my understanding returned to me. Once he looked heavenward again after seven years, God then restored unto him his understanding. And I blessed the most high, and I praised and honored him that liveth forever, whose His dominion is an everlasting dominion and his kingdom is from generation to generation.

Wow, now he’s talking like a believer isn’t he? Because Nebuchadnezzar gets saved and in this chapter he gives his testimony. It really took this great humbling before he came to the place where he submitted himself to the living God and apparently put his trust in him and then God restored his mind to him and his kingdom. Verse 35 says about the living God as Nebuchadnezzar praises him and says, all the inhabitants of the earth have reputed his nothing. I think he learned that lesson.

And he do it. God does, according to his will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. God is in charge. What a great thing to know, isn’t it? And none can stay his hand or say unto him what doest thou? Nobody can dictate to God and tell him what to do. I think some of the prosperity preachers ought to read this, where they tell us that we can command God and that God can do nothing except we command Him to do it.

Wow. And they say, think it and claim it and demand it. Scary stuff, isn’t it? Well, they’re going to give an account for that, I’m sure. But obviously that’s not what the Bible teaches is that we can’t say, what are you doing, God? And what is your purpose in all of this? is going to do his will and none can stay his hand. Verse 36, at the same time, my reason returned unto me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my honor and brightness returned unto me, and my counselers and my Lord sawed unto me, and has established in my kingdom.

And excellent majesty was added unto me. Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extoll and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, his ways, judgment, and those who walk in pride, he is able to, what, a base. Wow. I believe what we just read is the testimony of a man who came to know Christ as his Savior. He came to know the one that was in that burning fire of furnace with Chadrak, Meshach, and of Indigo in the previous chapter that we studied.

And now he comes to know the Son of God and he becomes saved. And his language, if you just compare it to the New Testament, if you take time to do that, it’s almost like reading the Apostle Paul or someone else in the New Testament who’s saved and writes, piece be multiplied unto you. He extols the God of heaven, the true and living God, who liveeth forever and whose dominion is everlasting, the one who rules in this world. So when you read the headlines in the morning and they are so discouraging sometimes, don’t blame the God of heaven, blame the God of this world Satan.

He’s still in charge of this world system and he is in charge of a host of fallen angels which are under his control and he is the one that has brought ruin and destruction upon this earth and he’s the one that has fallen one that has been fighting against the living God and trying to take as many to hell with him as he can. We’re now going to move to chapter 5 and we’ll see what we can get done tonight.

Bill Chazar, the king, made a great feast. Now this apparently is the grandson of Nebuchadnezzar. We’re not going to go into the whole history here, but you’ll notice Scofiel says in the margin that I’ll just point that out to you under the little letter C. Nebuchadnezzar was father of Belchazar in the biblical sense that David is called the father of Jesus. He was probably a grandson. We believe that… We’ve skipped a generation and now we have our grandson of Nebuchadnezzar ruling over Babylon and this guy makes a great feast to a thousand of his lords and drank wine before the thousand.

So that’s a pretty sizable banquet. A thousand of his key people are coming together for celebration and they’re drinking wine. belt chaser, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels, which his father, his grandfather, Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple, which was in Jerusalem, that the king and his princes, his wives, his concubines might drink therein. Big mistake. Now he is going to obviously defame the holy vessels that were taken from the temple, where where God would have his present God’s house, the first temple, Solomon’s temple in Jerusalem.

Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God, which was at Jerusalem, and the king, and his princes, and his wives, and his concubands drank in them. They drank wine and praised what? Nebuchadnezzar had gotten the saved and recognized the true and living God, the God of Daniel. But they’d say, drank and praised the gods of gold and of silver and of brass and of iron and of wood and of stone.

It’s this similar to what happened in Nebuchadnezzar in that same hour. In that same hour came forth the fingers of a man’s hand and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace. And the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Can you imagine? There’s a thousand people, key people in the kingdom of Babylon. They’re getting drunk and drinking and worshiping false gods and drinking and praising them. And all of a sudden they look over and they see just a hand inscribing some things in the wall of the banquet hall.

I’m sure they all began to think we’ve had too much to drink. But it was more than the alcohol here. This was the hand of God. And it says in verse 6, then was the king’s countenance changed. His thoughts troubled him. So the joints of his loins were loosed and his knees smote against one another. His knees were knocking and he was scared and he was shook up and here God was writing a message on the wall of that banquet hall.

We’re nowiban to anonymous in fort brag north carolina nobody knows who this guy is but we’re going to talk to him in fort brag north carolina go ahead anonymous.

Yeah objectionable SolidGoldMagikarp I had a Agribus and I guess some of the new Testament prophets and I just was trying to figure out where they true prophets and what they accurate in the things that they prophesied. Well of course they were New Testament prophets but the these they were people who spoke in tongues as well there were people that did healings and all those things ceased at the end of the first century. So you have to recognize that today we don’t have any prophets.

They’re gone. And today we have God healing when it’s his will to do so. But there are no divine healers. I believe in divine healing, but I don’t believe in divine healers. Those people that can raise the dead and these kind of things don’t today. We have a lot of people claiming to be prophets, claiming to be divine, and divine healers. When you take a look at the real facts, they really can’t. If you had divine healers today, they ought to be able to go to the hospital and go bed by bed and floor by floor and empty the whole hospital up.

Wouldn’t that be something? and also go to the graveyard and start The Bible is not happening, but yet the biblical gift was real back there two thousand years ago and ceased when the New Testament record was completed. So this is what’s going on today. So yes, those were true prophets. And again, the modern counterfeit is that they prophesy about you. They’ll come up and say, you know, I know you’re going to come into some money or you’re going to find the love of your life and get married and or you’re going to want to go to the Bible.

This and the other and they make a short-term prophecy. That’s fortune telling that’s forbidden in the Bible Isaiah 47 13 says we’re to stay away for all of that kind of stuff and amazingly Fortune telling and other occult practices are entering the church today And at an alarming rate and people are buying into that and it’s being renamed as the gift of prophecy This is craziness and this is wrong The biblical gift would have been that they would tell you the events of God’s overall program.

For example, they could accurately tell you before the New Testament record was written and you could read it for yourself that the rapture was the next event, then the tribulation period, then the rise of the Antichrist, then the second coming of Christ, then the millennium, and then the destruction of this earth, the creation of the new heavens and new earth, and so on and so on. But those kind of things are not being done by the so-called modern prophets today, but this guy agabus probably could tell you those kind of things before the new test written i was written to tell you the future of god’s plans on the planet they might they don’t read them well i believe because there were two comings prophesied and in the new testament you find that seems to be the issue that all the apostles dealt with that christ

would come first to suffer and then he would come a second time in all of his glory uh… when paul witnessed he would bring that up he would say He would point out the scriptures that said that he would suffer first Peter did the same thing you read about Peter saying that He would first come and suffer and die and then he’d come in his glory Jesus himself after the resurrection in Luke 24 talks about old fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken in verse 26 he goes on to say ought not Christ has suffered first and and then come in his glory intrigues.

They were looking for a king and for a Messiah that would come in his glory. But when he came as he did meek and lowly, bringing salvation and went to the cross and died, they just couldn’t buy that and they rejected him. Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Anonymous. Maybe one day we’ll discover who you are. Alright. And now we’re going to go to Martha. and Martha is in the land floor. And over on the east coast of Florida, Martha, welcome to Bibleline.

Thank you. Yes, you just got through saying that no one raises the dead. What about the book of Smith’s Wiggle Wars, raising the dead and healing the sick? And also another question is, my grandchildren, they grew up going to Christian school most of their lives. now they’re in their twenty but they are not living the way they should but they say grandma say one thing always say now if they’re doing things of the world are they still going to go to heaven i will uh…

hang up and listen to you think you okay martha thank you so much for the call i do not believe that’s uh… wiggleworth uh… raised anybody from the debt we have a lot of charlatans out there and i believe that that’s Just one of those and of course, Ugalworth knows the truth today. He’s dead. But once you trust Christ as your Savior, you are saved forever. And it has nothing to do with how we behave. But how we behave will determine whether we are rewarded or not here and in eternity.

And so once you trust Christ, let me give you the verses to to write down. John 637 Christ promises he would not cast you out if you trust him. As your Savior, verse 39, Jesus says he would not lose you. So not one person, he said, would ever be lost who would come to him and that was the Father’s will, John 639. But the Bible does promise that if you trust the Lord as your Savior, that he will spank you if you’re delinquent.

So if your children are getting away with living as they please, it would only prove that they were not saved because a genuine believer cannot have that experience. Let me quote now and you ought to write these down. Hebrews 12, 6-11 in particular, it says for whom the Lord loves, he chasons or disciplines and scourges every son whom he receives. So if you are received in the GANS family by the new birth as a son or daughter, God is going to discipline you.

Verse 8 says in Hebrews chapter 12, If you be without discipline or chastisement, where of all, A-L-L, all, are partakers, then it says your, and King James is pretty strong. It says you’re a bastard and not a son. In other words, you’re illegitimately claiming to be a Christian. If you could live as you please and God did not interfere. God will spank you. He’ll get your attention. I remember trusting the Lord as my Savior, going off to the University of Florida where I later graduated in electrical engineering.

And I had told God I would take him up on his free gift, but I would never serve him. Well little did I realize that God was going to work on me, nobody else at the University of Florida knew I was a Christian because I didn’t tell anybody that I had become saved. But I knew I was and I knew God could not break his word and I knew I was going to heaven. But you know over that next year God brought me to my knees wherein my dorm all alone.

Nobody else knew about it. I dedicated my life to serve the Lord and to tell people about Jesus Christ till the day I died. So obviously if you genuinely believe her God can get your attention and he got mine and he brought me to the place where I dedicated my life to him and no human was involved. I just knew that God was working on me as a believer. So your children, yes, if they misbehave, they’ll still go to heaven if they are truly saved, if they’ve trusted Christ without works as the only means of their salvation are saved forever.

But God will not allow them to live as they please. And if they are saved, he will chase them. And it says in verse 11 of Hebrews, chapter 12, no chasting for the present seemeth to be joyous. It’s not a wonderful occasion, something we rejoice over or are excited about. it says it’s grievous but nevertheless afterward afterward after God is disciplined a believer it yields the peaceful fruit of righteous living so God’s plan is that you’re saved no matter what you do but as a parent disciplines of delinquent child God will discipline the delinquent believer and you might wind up going to heaven early but if you’re going to be that rebellious, but if you know what happens if you’re a parent, you discipline your children, they become peaceable and submissive when they’re disciplined, don’t they?

And that’s really what God does to the believer. So Martha, yes, they’re saved. No, I don’t believe in anybody raising the dead today. I do not accept the teachings of Wiggleworth as being real genuine healings or raising from the dead and I think that we have a counterfeit movement out there of signs and wonders that is false. In fact, the Bible says in Matthew 24 when Jesus was asked about signs of the end times, he said false Christ would come along and false preachers would come along and they would show signs and wonders.

In so much of it were possible they would to see genuine believers and I believe that God is telling us that people doing signs and wonders today should be suspect because it would not be genuine believers doing these things but it would be false preachers that would be doing the signs and wonders in the last days. It’s a part of Satan’s deception as we approach his return at the Rapture here. Martha, I hope that helps and thank you for listening over there into land Florida.

That’s 1-800-576-3771. Somebody brought up the topic this week on the Radio Easy Believism and what is easy Believism? Usually the phrase easy-believism is a slam against those who teach the salvation is not by human works but by faithful own in Jesus Christ. It is clear that the Scriptures teach that salvation is received by faith only. It is the finished work of Christ that there is no human involvement but to receive it and And it says in Ephesians, by grace, by mercy, are you saved through faith in Jesus Christ and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Not of works, lest any man should boast or brag. That’s Ephesians 2, 8, and 9. And so salvation definitely is a gift and it is not of works and it is not of yourself. And it is by mercy that you receive through faith in trusting Jesus Christ as your Savior. Easy-believism is a way of saying that salvation by faith in Jesus Christ alone is just too easy. It’s too simple, they say. Those who use this phrase easy-believism are usually saying that there must be more to salvation than just faith in Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us that Satan would use this fact that the gospel message is a very simple message to deceive people. It says in 2 Corinthians 11-3, But I fear, less by any means as the serpent, Satan, begalive that was Adam’s wife, through his subtlety, so your mind should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. So, one of the most common objections to the true gospel is it’s too simple, and Satan uses the fact that it’s simple to cause you not to believe.

Isn’t it amazing Satan is a clever devil. Satan changes the true gospel into a counterfeit message by addition or subtraction. In other words, Satan adds human works and human effort to the planet’s salvation in order to make the message of none effect. First Corinthians 1, 17 Paul makes this remarkable statement. He says that he doesn’t flower up the message, he doesn’t embellish it with fancy human words lest the cross of Christ be made of none effect. So obviously Paul was very conscious of his wording, of his terminology, lest he would add to or subtract from this wonderful message and make it of none effect.

That means zero effect. If you change the message, it becomes a message that is a curse. It becomes a message that will not save. And that’s what I heard for the first 18 years of my life in my church. I heard a message that was not capable of saving me, and although I wanted to be saved, I was told a false method of being saved. And it wasn’t until I was 18 that I learned that Jesus paid it all, and all I needed to do was trust in the finished work that Christ performed for me at the cross to not believe the record that God gave in the Scriptures makes it null and void.

Let me quote to you, 1 John 5, 10, it says, he that believeth on the Son of God hath the the witness himself, he, the belief that not God, has made him a liar, and then it says because because because because he believed it’s not the record that God gave of his son. So I John 5, 10, great verse. If you don’t believe the record that God gave in the scriptures concerning Jesus Christ, then you’re calling God a liar.

Why? It says because you believe not the record that God gave of his son, to adjust one human work to the planet’s salvation. plays a person before God without any mercy, without any grace, with no salvation, they would not be saved. It says in Romans 11, 6, if my grace, which means unmerited favorite, means mercy, if by grace, then it is no more of works, otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more of grace, otherwise work is no more work.

You might say, what in the world did you just say? Well, it sounds a little confusing, but it’s saying that grace and works are opposite and you can’t mix them. Just like because it’s daytime right now, it can’t be nighttime. Otherwise daytime wouldn’t be daytime. But if it were nighttime, then it couldn’t be daytime or nighttime wouldn’t be nighttime. What we’re saying here is it can’t be daytime and nighttime at the same time. Can you follow that? Well, the Bible says if it’s by grace, then it can’t be by works, otherwise grace isn’t grace.

but if it be by works that is not by grace otherwise work is not work you can’t mix the two they are opposite and so if you attempt to be saved by any works you’re not going to have any grace and that means you’re not going to enter heaven You’ll not be saved. The Bible tells us by grace are we saved through faith and whenever that’s presented in the Bible, guess what? The Bible is very clear to exclude works.

Now please join us as we return to our question and answer segment and then we’ll return to more Bibleline teaching from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We now have Gail in Bradenton, Florida, and Gail. Welcome to Bibleline. Hi, Dr. Hank. My name is Gail, and I’ve got a question. I’ve listened to you so many times, so many days, and learned a great deal. I have the question, though, that I learned when I thought I’d live my life as a Christian and then realize, no, that’s not what the Bible says.

And I had to, that made some changes. I accepted him. I love him with all my heart. in second Peter and that would be a great, I would love to come and listen to your class, but this is the one thing in second Peter too. When it talks about once knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior and then turning your back on Jesus, it’s better, I don’t have my glasses on, it’s better to have not accepted Christ and turn your back on Him than to it is better not to have.

What do you… Well if you read that chapter carefully the whole chapter is talking about false teachers, false preachers and it says all the way throughout it says in verse 17, these are wells without water. They don’t have the truth. It says these are the ones verse 17 to whom the mist of darkness is reserved forever. And it talks here about verse 20, if they have escaped the pollutions of the world, That means maybe in the moral realm, and some of the cults are really the Mormons, for example, usually have a list of a lot of moral standards which are pretty great and the witnesses as well.

And they escape all that, but yet they haven’t really accepted Christ as their Savior. They have a knowledge about Christ and the witnesses carry their Bibles around and the Mormons carry the Bibles around, but they’re not saved. It says here that ultimately it is shown to be what they really are. It had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, which is Christ. And after they had known it to turn from the commandment delivered unto them, that commandment I believe is to trust Christ as their Savior, which they don’t.

In 1 John 3, 23 it says this is his commandment that we should believe on his Son. But they have a knowledge of Christ, but they don’t really know the Lord. They have escaped some of the moral pollutions of our world because they have lived in that so-called cult-like environment or that religious environment, but yet they don’t ever trust in the Lord as they’re saving. They turn from that commandment. It says here, it has happened according to the true proverb, that the dog has turned again to his own vomit.

What it’s saying is that they never were born again. They need to be a sheep to be saved and the dog is exposed to be a dog because he goes back and eats his vomit. The sow that you can clean up a pig and put perfume on them and put a few ribbons on them and make them look nice, bring them into your home. But you let that pig loose and it’s eventually going to go back out in the mud because that’s its nature.

And so these people never become born again. They go back to really eventually exposing themselves as not being Christians by what happens as their life goes on but they are not to become a sheep here the dog has to become born again to become a sheep the pig has to be born again and these all the way throughout here are lost people who have a religious facade. And claim to be Christian when they’re not and it begins right in the beginning of that chapter to talk about these as being false preachers.

So they’re not saved in laws. These are people that were never saved. And yet they’ve masqueraded as Christians and unless you are studied in your Bible and asked the right questions, you would probably work. Okay, that’s what I think this world is so full of is that people, many people don’t think, well, I’m not good enough for God to accept me. I think that’s many. Many people think, well, I’m okay. I’ve never murdered anyone. I don’t lie. I don’t cheat all the time.

That’s the difficult thing with hearing that once you’re saved, you’re always saved. But just knowing that the life is better, and I appreciate how you say that in the crowns and the way God blesses those who love him and follow him. Amen. But yes, it’s hard to be able to have somebody think, well, once saved, always saved, just like her grandchildren. And so sometimes it’s better to say, follow God and love him with all your heart. And that is the only way.

When you trust, yeah, that’s what they try to do. But when you trust Christ, you become saved, Gail. And then after we choose them to live for them. And that’s when God blesses. Thank you, Gail. Okay, we now have Adam in Denver, Colorado. He says, I’ve heard you mentioned the army of 200 million in China. And that is something that has been now mentioned now for years that China has a population of 1.2 billion people, but they boast that they can field an army of 200 million.

You can read about that Revelation 9, and by the way, the Bible tells us before the Chinese army marches into the Middle East, the river Euphrates will dry up. Now that’s interesting, because the river Euphrates begins up in Turkey, flows down through Syria, And then finally about 600 miles down through Iraq out into the Persian Gulf. That river has been flowing for thousands of years. That’s one of the rivers mentioned all the way back in the early pages of Genesis.

It’s been around for a long, long time and it’s right there in Iraq. And guess what? That river will dry up, the Bible says, and then the Chinese army will come marching through. Well, you know, guess what? It’s possible today for man to shut that river off. Turkey is built a dam project in Turkey where the source of the river is, similar to the Azwan Project in Egypt. And when they first wanted to fill up the reservoirs behind the dam, they did shut off the water temporarily.

They have, like I guess, the analogy would be like a big plug in your bathtub. They electronically pushed the button in this big concrete plug, shut off the water from flowing down through the Euphrates River down to the Persian Gulf and the rivers did go way dry for a short period of time and it caused a great problem in the Middle East. But they could do it at any time as a political decision and decided to shut off the water to Syria and to Iraq and the river would be shut off and that’s when the Chinese army would come.

Isn’t that amazing that everything is falling into place because at the Battle of Armageddon the Chinese will march their armies into the Middle East and if you put your finger on China you might want to try this if you have a globe. Run your finger from China to Israel and guess what? If you don’t lift your finger when you come to Iraq your finger is going to go right through the Euphrates River and get all wet except right at the end times that river will dry up and they’ll be able to march across on dry land.

We have now Chris and Chris is in Tampa Florida. Chris, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. How are you doing, Dr. I have a two part question for you. I have to deal with the signs of Jesus the Messiah’s Richardson. What’s the main reason that lets you think that this is the war in the last days? Our good question actually, uh, Jose, chapter three, verse five defines the latter times over the latter days as when the Jewish people would go back to their land and be established back in the land after a two thousand year dispersion and that’s right now in fact this year Israel is celebrating their 60th anniversary they became a nation in 1948 here we are the years of 2008 so they’re back and they’ve been there now this year 60 years and we find that when the Jewish people go back to the land as we see right now happening that is the last days

That’s the major sign. Yes sir, thank you so much. My mother, quick question, I’m going to hang up after that, someone got forgot to die. Well what happens there Chris, is that a believer at the moment of death is absent from the body present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5, 8 they are immediately present with the Lord. But at the time of the rapture when Christ comes back, he will judge those that have already died and those that are living.

That judgment is to determine the degree of reward for the believer. The believer goes to heaven because he’s a believer at the moment of death. He’s absent from the body, present with the Lord. Or if he’s alive at the event of the rapture, he’ll be caught up alive in the air and his body will be transformed on the way up to meet the Lord in the clouds and forever will be with the Lord. But that’s the time also when he will reward believers based upon what they have done.

So that’s really what is talking about. The unsaved also will wind up in hell because they’re unbelievers, but their works also will be judged in a separate judgment after the Millennial Kingdom of Christ, and they’ll be assigned a degree of punishment and hell based upon their works. Thank you, Chris. This wraps up today’s question and answer segment about the Bible featuring Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We hope that you have enjoyed it and that you are growing in your knowledge about the Word of God.

And it says in verse 6, then was the king’s countenance changed, his thoughts troubled him so that the joints of his loins were loosed and his knees smote against one another. Wow, his knees were knocking and he was scared and he was shook up.

And here God was writing a message on the wall of that banquet hall. The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers that Chaldeans the cisseers. I wish they would get rid of those guys, once and for all. I’m tired of reading about them. But the king spake and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing and show me the interpretation thereof shall be clothed with scarlet and have a chain of gold about his neck.

And shall be a third ruler in the kingdom. So we find here, then came in all the king’s wise men, but they could not, and I have marked that in my Bible, they could not read the writing. They were made known to the king, the interpretation thereof. Then was the king built Chazar, greatly troubled. His countenance was changed in him, and his lords were Astani. Verse 10, Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house and the queen spake and said, oh King, live forever.

Let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countness be changed. There is a man, verse 11. Notice at this point, they forgot Daniel. But God hadn’t forgotten Daniel, and it says, there is a man in thy kingdom in whom is the spirit of the Holy Gods. And in the days of your grandfather, and understanding in wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods was found in him, whom the king Nebuchadnezzar, thy father, the king, I say thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, caldians, and soussayers, for as much as an excellent spirit and knowledge and understanding and interpreting of dreams and showing of hard sentences and dissolving of doubts were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belchazar.

Now let Daniel be called and he will show the interpretation. Interesting. God never forgets us. Although Daniel had somehow gotten forgotten as an evil grandson now is now ruling over the kingdom. But God hadn’t forgotten Daniel and uses this occasion to bring Daniel back up to the top. Verse 13, then was Daniel brought in before the king and the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that, Daniel? Are you the one which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, which the king, my father, brought out of the Jews, the Jewry?

I have heard of thee. Yeah, I heard about you. That the Spirit of the G-d’s is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee. And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me that they should read this writing and make known to me the interpretation of the thing. And I’ve heard of the that thou canst make interpretations dissolved out. Now if thou canst read the writing and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shall be clothed with scarlet.

Have a chain of gold about thy neck, and thou shall be third ruler in the kingdom.” Verse 17, then Daniel answered and said before the king, let your gifts be to yourself. Give your rewards to another. Yet I will read the writing to the king and make known to him the interpretation. He said, I’m not interested in your money and your rewards, but I’ll let you know what it says. Verse 18, O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory and honor.

And for the majesty that he gave him all people, nations, languages trembled and feared before him, whom he would he slew, whom he would keep alive, he would keep alive, and whom he would set up, and whom he would put down. He was absolutely in charge. But when his heart was lifted up and his mind hardened and pried. He was deposed from his kingly throne, and he took his glory from him. He was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beast.

And his dwelling was with the wild asses. And they fed him with grass like the oxen in his body. was what with the due of heaven, till he knew, till he knew that the Most High God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointed over it, whom so ever he will. And thou, his son, his grandson, O belchazar, has not humbled nine heart. Though thou newest all this, you knew it, you knew better, and you have not hobbled your heart, and you are lifting up your voice and your actions against the Lord of Heaven.

You’re in trouble. Verse 23, You’ve lifted up yourself against the Lord of Heaven, and you have brought the vessels of His house before thee, and thou and thy lords and thy wives and thy concubines have drunk wine in them. And you have praised the gods of silver and of gold and of brass and iron and wood and stone which see not nor hear nor know, and the God in whose hand thy what? Thy breath. God, you know, can take away your life in a moment, in an instant.

And the God in whose hand your breath is, And whose are all thy ways? You have not glorified. You have taken all the credit for yourself. And you have spoken against the God of gods and have defiled his vessels from the temple in Jerusalem. Verse 24, then was the part of the hand sent from him. God sent that hand and this writing was written. And this is the writing that was written. Minimini, Teckel, you farsen. And it says in verse 26, this is the interpretation of the thing.

Mini, God hath numbered thy kingdom and finished it. Teckel means thou art weighed in the balances and you’ve come short, Belchasar. It says here, you have been found wanting. Verse 28, Paris, which is the singular of the last word, thy kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and the Persians. So basically the writing said that your kingdom has been numbered, numbered. It’s been weighed in the balances and you’ve fallen short of God’s expectations for you in this kingdom and therefore it is now going to be judged and divided.

And then it says verse 29, then commanded Bill Chasar and they brought Daniel. They clothed Daniel rather with Scarlet. They put a chain of gold about his neck, made a proclamation concerning him that he should be third ruler in the kingdom. But notice verse 30, in that night, in that night, in that night was Bill Chasar the king of the Chaldeans slain. And Darius the Mede, or Median, took the kingdom, being about three score and two years older, 62 years of age.

That night, Belchaser died. That night, God took His kingdom away. And now the Mede and Mede of Persian Empire takes over, and they now take over this kingdom, and Babylon is finished. And now a second world power is in place. the dream of Daniel chapter 2, the head was a gold. That’s book of the Babylonian Empire. The shoulders and the arms were of silver and that represented the Medo-Persian Empire. And now we’re to the second kingdom of that dream.

And Daniel, of course, is still used of God and has favor in the sight of Darius, who is the head of this new kingdom. Let’s read just the first three verses of chapter 6. It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom, 120 princes which should be over the whole kingdom. And over these three presidents of whom Daniel was what? First, so Daniel survives three rulers of the Babylonian Empire and the grandson Belchasar was slain that night. And now he’s set up as one of the three top leaders under the kingdom of Darius, of the Medes and the Persians.

And over these three Presidents, verse two of O’Daniel’s first, that the princes might give accounts to them, and the kings should have no damage. Verse three, then this Daniel was preferred above the Presidents and princes because an excellent spirit was in him, and the King thought to set him over the whole realm. The Bible tells us by grace are we saved through faith and whenever that’s presented in the Bible, guess what? The Bible is very clear to exclude works. Let’s go to Ephesians 2 8 that I just quoted a moment ago and you’ll see that.

It says, 4 by grace are you saved through faith in Jesus Christ. The next phrase says, no works and that not of yourselves and that not of yourselves. You see, whenever there’s grace, there’s no works. And so God says we’re saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and then it says, and not. of yourself because that is works and you can’t have grace and works at the same time. Then it says, it is the gift of God in Ephesians 2.8, and then immediately following the Bible excludes works again and it says not of works, not of works, not of works, lest any man should boast or brag.

So whenever you have grace, the Bible excludes works. Isn’t that amazing? And yet it’s amazing to me that how many people just don’t get it. They don’t see it in the Bible. And they slam the gospel of Jesus Christ by saying that’s easy believe in them. And they’re really trying to slam the gospel and try to slip in the fact that you have to add more to trusting Christ than just trusting Christ. And therefore they had works in the plantain salvation.

And guess what? They make the plantain salvation void. And if you add any works, you won’t have any grace. That means you’ll go to hell. So when we talk about believing, we’re not talking about mental ascent either. We’re not talking about mental assent to a historical fact. When we talk about saving faith or belief, we’re talking about a personal trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as the one who gave his life on the cross of Calvary was buried in and rose again from the dead.

The word belief comes from the Greek word bestuo and it means to trust, to rely upon, to put your confidence in the rest your ones, wait upon. When a person puts his trust in Jesus Christ, he is saved. Let me give you my little illustration. Let’s say if you walk out on a dock and you find there’s a little small boat tied to the dock and you step over from the dock with one foot and put one foot on the little boat, are you trusting the boat to hold you up?

No, you’re not. You still have one foot on the dock. Let’s say that you put both feet on the little boat, but you still are holding on to the piling that supports the dock. Are you trusting the little boat? No, you’re not. You’re still holding on to the dock. Let’s say that you take both feet and put them on the boat and you take one hand and cut it loose from the dock, but you’re still holding on to the piling with one hand.

Are you trusting the little boat? The answer is no. Let’s say you take both feet and both hands off of the dock, but you still have your hands on a rope tied to the dock. Are you trusting the little boat? No. Not until you cut all the lines, until you cut all support to the dock. Tell you fully and completely put your trust on the little boat. You’re not trusting the boat. And unless you cut all ties, the all works and all effort that you might put forth and simply trust Jesus Christ alone, you’ve never really understood what it is to be saved.

To be saved you have to cut all ties, totally, completely, put your trust or rest your weight upon Jesus Christ as the complete payment for your sin. And when you do, God saves you. And it might sound like easy believerism, but guess what? That’s the only way you can be saved. hard on God’s part, he made the provision Christ had to die and shed his blood. Our part is easy. We simply receive what Christ did, just like the dying thief on the cross.

He simply believed on Christ in the last seconds of his life, and Jesus said, today, thou shalt be with me in paradise. He didn’t say, I’m sorry, you know you need to unite with a church. And doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. I’m sorry, but you need to be water baptized, and doesn’t look like we’re going to be able to pull that one off. I’m sorry dying thief. Looks like you can’t make restitution for evil deeds and you can’t live a changed life.

You’re dying and looks like you’re headed for hell. No, no, no, no, no. The dying thief was saved because of what Christ did for him, not because of what the dying thief would do for Christ. And there’s nobody saved any differently than that dying thief. When you place your trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ, God saves you and saves you eternally. God bless, keep looking up. Jesus is coming, and we believe He’s coming soon.
