Let’s read just the first three verses of chapter six. It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom, 120 princes which should be over the whole kingdom.
And over these three presidents of whom Daniel was what? First, Sir Daniel survives three rulers of the Babylonian Empire and the grandson, D’Alchazar, was slain that night. And now he’s set up as one of the three top leaders under the kingdom of Darius of the Medes and the Persians. And over these three presidents, verse two of whom Daniel was first, that the princes might give accounts to them, and the kings should have no damage. Verse three, then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes because an excellent spirit was in him and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
So Daniel, who was really a prisoner of war, taken by Nebuchadnezzar, carried away into captivity, into Babylon, and there they were trying to mold him into one of their leaders and cause him to depart from his faith in the living God. But remember Daniel 1 8, Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself. And so Daniel had made a decision that he was not going to go astray, he was not going to depart from the God of the Bible, and he was going to say true to the Bible and to his word.
And Daniel, God raised up to be a great leader through all these kings and now into the next kingdom where Darius now sets him up as head. And guess what? People become jealous. And this is one of the most exciting chapters in Daniel about how Daniel faces adversity and actually strong pressure for him to compromise again in his life. And Daniel stands tall, Daniel stands for the truth. Daniel does not bow his knee to any other God, but he stays true to God’s Word and God blesses Daniel again.
We’ll see that when we come back to this class. Alright, we’re going to now get into the book of Daniel. This is class number five and we’re glad you’re here. Chapter six of Daniel. We have Daniel now. During the Second World Power, the Medo-Persian Empire, page 908, it says, it please Darius to set over the kingdom 120 princes which should be over the whole kingdom. And over these three presidents of whom Daniel was first, that the princes might give a count unto them, and the king should have no damage.
Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes because an excellent spirit was in him, and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. Well, obviously this was obviously a thing that caused jealousy among the other persons who were ruling in the kingdom. Verse 4, then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom, but they could not find such occasion or fault for as much as he was faithful. Isn’t that great?
So we find here that they looked over him with a microscope, trying to find some flaws, and they had trouble. They couldn’t find any because he was a faithful man. So it’s wonderful if we can be faithful so that we don’t really become a reproach to the Lord, but we are a blessing and that people just cannot find chinks in our armor. But we’re all sinners and we know that none of us are truly without fault. Daniel was a spectacular Christian man who really couldn’t find anything wrong with him, which was wonderful.
And so they said to themselves, as they schemed against him in verse 5, then said these men, we shall not find any occasion against this Daniel. They pretty much gave up realizing that they’re not going to find this guy doing anything wrong. He was above board, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God. So they knew that he was very devoted to the God of the Bible, the God of Isaac, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of the of creation.
And so they said, this is the only way we’re going to trap him. Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king and sent him to King Darius live forever. Of course, you know, that’s a lie. They didn’t want him to live forever or care that he did. But it was a way of flattering the king. We just would love to have you around forever and ever. In all the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, the princes, the captains, the captains have consulted together to establish a royal statute.
To make it a firm decree that whosoever shall ask any petition of any god or man for 30 days, save of the O King, he shall be cast into the den of lions. Obviously, the king was very flattered by this. He said, wow, they really think highly of me. They didn’t realize that underneath the surface, this was a plot to get Daniel. So they were making this law, not because they loved the king and wanted him to live forever, but because they wanted to get Daniel.
And so they said, the king, boy, we just want to make a law to honor you. And if anybody praised any of the God, save thee for 30 days, he’ll be cast into the delavions. Now King established a decree and signed the writing that it may not change according to the law of amids and the Persians, which altereth not. Wherefore King Darius fell for this flattery, and he signed the writing and the decree. Verse 10, Now when Daniel knew, notice Daniel was not ignorant about this law that it didn’t come past.
But when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house and his windows being opened in his chamber towards Jerusalem, why would they be open towards Jerusalem? In the Old Testament times, God’s presence would be made known in the temple at Jerusalem. And so they would always pray toward Jerusalem and Jewish people to this day in America when they’re buried have their heads buried facing Jerusalem because that’s the place where the Messiah will come from and the place where God would make His presence known.
So here he noticed would have his windows open toward Jerusalem. He kneeled down upon his knees three times a day. So apparently he prayed three times upon his knees and he prayed and he gave thanks before his God as he did a four time. He didn’t change his habits and these men knew that he would probably continue as he had and that’s exactly where they were going to trap him. In verse 11, then he’s been assembled and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.
knew he would, and then they came near and spake into the king concerning the king’s decree and said, have you not signed the decree that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within 30 days save the O king shall be cast into the den of lions? And the king answered and said the thing is true according to the law of the needs and the Persians which altereth not. And then verse 13 they answered and said before the king that Daniel.
Notice how they get almost feel or hatred toward him. That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, he’s a Jew, hard if not the O King, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but he makes his petition three times a day. Then the king, when he heard these words, was sword displeased with himself. He liked Daniel, and he realized now he was trapped, And he had made a decree that he never would have intended to hurt his friend Daniel.
And so it says here, he was displeased with himself verse 14. He set his heart on Daniel to deliver him, and he labored till the going down of the sun to deliver him. Then these men assembled into the king and said unto the king, no, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, that no decree nor statute which the king established may be changed. King, this law cannot be changed. Then the king commanded and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions.
Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, thy God, whom thou serviced continually, he will deliver thee. And as stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet with the purpose of his lords, and the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel. Here we also find in many times in Old Testament a type of Daniel being a type of Christ. And here notice he was sealed to death and sealed in a tomb.
And when they would roll away the tomb, the stone from the tomb, he would come forth alive. And of course a picture of the death, the barrel, the resurrection of Christ. And Daniel was a picture of Christ in this. And it says in verse 18, then the king went into his palace and passed the night fasting. the instruments of music brought before him and his sleep went from him. And then the king rose very early in the morning and went in haste under the den of lions.
And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice under Daniel and the king spake and said to Daniel, oh Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God whom thou serviced continually able to deliver thee from the lions. Notice to his joy, he hears Daniel’s voice coming out of the cave and Daniel said into the king, oh, King live forever. My God has sent his angel and has shut the lion’s mouths and they have not hurt me.
For as much as before him, innocency was found in me and also before the, oh, King have I done no hurt. Then was the king exceeding glad for him and commanded that they should take up Daniel out of the den and so Daniel was taken up out of the den and no manner of hurt was found upon him. Not one scratch, not one bite upon his body because he believed in his God. But I want you to notice some critics have said, well the lions weren’t hungry.
That’s why they didn’t eat Daniel or they didn’t have a one-sauce or something else. Thank you for joining us. We hope that you’re enjoying today’s teaching on the book of Daniel. Lindstrom answering questions from callers. Okay we’re going to Sean in Lansing, Michigan and Sean welcome to my one year on the year. How you doing Doug? Good. I had a couple of questions for you. It should be quick. I was talking to a person that is part of a religion that claims to be the truth and they talked about that they had that you have to go to meeting your faithful to God. now they use the reference of Hebrew 1025 and then they also refer to the scripture and Ephesians that talked about faith without works is dead and they were making sure that that was the key note speaking of what they were talking about and I just wanted to hear your Well, they wanted to show this too.
Now if they’re wanting to show it to men and let people think you’re faithful, then:”that’s true.” But God doesn’t need to see your works or your deeds. And in fact, the Bible says in the Old Testament in 2 Samuel that the Lord looks on the heart and not on the outward appearance, but man looks on the outward appearance and he doesn’t know what’s in your heart. But all he can see is your works. And obviously works have nothing to do with.
salvation and this is a total misunderstanding of the phrase in James that Faith Without Works is dead. It really means it doesn’t produce any fruit or any rewards and James is talking about profit or rewards. He’s not talking about how to be saved. He’s talking to people who are already saved. If you read the book of James, he says throughout my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, my brethren, he’s talking to believers throughout the whole book and he’s not telling them how to be saved.
He already tells them that they’re born again in chapter 1, verse 18 of James, and then he tells them that they need to move forward and live for Christ and serve and do works, or their faith alone without works will not produce any rewards or things that God will reward in heaven and they’ll suffer the loss of reward in heaven forever. So Hebrews 10.25 is a great verse, but he’s talking to believers here not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of Psalm is, but exhorting one another, encouraging one another.
And so much the more you see the day approaching. I think as we approach the Lord’s return, which is now more and more, we need to come together with other believers to learn His Word, which is not really what’s happening today. And most churches today, it’s becoming more of an aerobic service where you jump around and clap your hands and listen to music. If you read the book of Acts, the early church, you read nothing about music, nothing about praise and worship, it says they came together in Acts chapter 2 to study the apostles doctrine.
That’s the word of God, prior to the New Testament record being written. The number one reason why they gathered together on the first day of the week was to study the word of God, not for praise and worship. Today, we have certainly gotten the side-track. And I believe the first praise and worship leader was Guess Who? Aaron, the brother of Moses, and what did he do with his praise and worship? Well, they got together with the old calf, he misled him doctrinally.
not only that they went off and and we’re dancing naked and god came down to store a whole bunch of me got real upset with those people so that’s uh… the praise and worship origin of i will desire to see it and i think we have shifted away from what god’s purpose has been hope that helps that that the final question is there a process to be in that path to do are you i mean do you want to believe can you be better or do you have a good process in order to to start working towards.
No, not at all. You know, you see the example next chapter eight, you have the African Ethiopian eunuch and he gets saved and within minutes, apparently they’ve baptized him. Well, Sean, you can be baptized as soon as you believe. It’s a testimonial of how you were washed of your sin by the blood of Christ when you trusted him. And now publicly you’re coming out to say, I’ve been cleansed, I’ve been washed. The water is merely symbolic. It’s a picture of what Christ did for you at the cross.
All right. Thank you, Sean. That was Sean up in Lansing, Michigan. We’re online now to go to Gary in Largo and Gary welcome to my blind, Gary. You’re on the island. Hi, hey. Hi, Gary. Good morning. My question, I have a couple of questions. A couple of weeks ago, we were studying about Zachariah 14, about the day of the Lord, and how he’ll gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle. but in verse three it says, then shall the Lord go forth and fight against those nations as when he fought in the day of battle.
What is that as when he fought in the day of battle? When is that? I believe that is talking about when God destroyed the Egyptian army. And Egypt was a picture of the world. The Pharaoh was a picture of the Antichrist. And what happened then was a small picture of what would happen in the end days when God would come back and this time destroy, not just Egypt, but all the nations of the earth that come against Jerusalem. and Christ would set up his kingdom, and the Antichrist will Aadhaar defeated and take him out of the way.
Just continuing in Zechariah 14, as we read down verse five talks about Jesus and he comes back with his saint, but my question is in verse six and seven, and it says, and it shall come to pass in that day that the light shall not be clear nor dark, but it shall be one day which shall be known to the Lord, not day nor night, but it shall come to pass that at evening. How much time Manafort has ever seen?
Apparently, we’re going to have a lot more light on the planet at that time, and even if it’s going to be somewhat lighted, I guess. I think nobody really knows for sure what that means, but I think it basically means that that Christ will be here and He is the light of the world spiritually, but also I think that there will be more physical light around the world and the day and in the night, and it’s And it’s gonna be a beautiful time and the whole earth will be blossoming according to Isaiah and other prophets like a rose the deserts will blossom and there’ll be water and streams in the desert and Apparently it’s gonna be a wonderful time of peace on earth good will toward men No wars and Christ will rule over the whole earth as king as it says in verse 9 there and it’s gonna be great
Number seven it says it shall be known it shall be one day which shall be known to the Lord not day nor night Well, this day was made for him. You know, even as the seventh day back in the recreative week was the day of rest, it was the day the Lord rested, this is going to be a day for the Lord himself. And so it’s his day and it’s called the day of the Lord and it’s a thousand year day.
So I believe that that’s really what it’s talking about. This is his day and he’s been waiting for this day and he’s been looking forward to coming back just as much as we look forward to him coming. And this is going to be a grand day and the whole earth will rejoice at at his presence in the earth of blossom and bud and the earth will be delivered from the curse and The dead will have been given the resurrection bodies and it’s it’s a special time No doubt that God has planned and we’re finally approaching that right now Okay, great.
I’m just still a little confused about it. It should not be clear. I Haven’t looked up that word. We’ll have to look it up and see what it means by that but Apparently there is no real distinction between day and night like it’s kind of a as i imagine a very gradual thing where it doesn’t even get really that dark at night might have something to do maybe with um… the unsafe that are going to be in the in the millennium uh…
that they don’t still don’t see christ um… no i don’t think i don’t think it’s going to be that but all have to take a look up the hebrew words there and and there’s probably gonna be some insight there by looking at that gary i’ll do the same right thanks a lot about we don’t have gary this time gary is in a brain to florida and the gary welcome the bible morning after lunchtime good morning in matthew twenty five verses twenty five to thirty uh…
parable of the talent that there’s nothing with this town and confused about what he gets going into other darkness there it’s a good question and the answer is the third guy’s not saved at all first of all you would know this by just interpreting a difficult versus a lot of a clear one That’s a good rule of interpretation. And in John 637, Jesus says, him that cometh to me, I will have no catch wise cast out. So since Christ makes a promise, which he cannot break obviously, because God can’t lie and God cannot break his word, Christ will never cast out a believer.
So we know that from John 637. So this guy has cast into outer darkness, which I believe is hell. And so therefore he can’t be a believer. But now let’s look more carefully at the text. And we’ll see also that he’s an unbeliever. It says in verse 21 and 23, about the first two fellows, they are called good and faithful. Two things are in mind there. They’re good. That means they’re a believer because the Bible says in Romans 3, 12, there’s nothing to do with good, no not one.
So how then can anybody be called good when the Bible says that no one does any good? Well, the answer is when you trust Christ, the goodness or righteousness of God is credited to the believer’s account. So you’re considered good. And then he’s faithful. Now if you read carefully the verse he enters into heaven because he’s good, but he then is rewarded with ruling power because he’s faithful. The last guy is called wicked, which means he’s not a believer.
He stands before God in his own righteousness, which is wickedness. And not only that, he’s slothful. So he’s lost because he’s an unbeliever. He’s wicked. And he’s also a side of degree of punishment and hell because of his slothfulness. Gary, I hope that helps a little bit. Okay, thank you, sir. Okay, thank you for calling in. Bibleline will be back in a moment. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. Jesus Christ, when he was crucified, was then buried for 72 hours and then he rose again from the dead. And then the Bible tells us that he showed himself alive for 40 days, for 40 days, and people saw him.
They touched him, they handled him. They knew that he had risen from the dead. And this obviously is what transformed the apostles into the dynamic witnesses that he became as they took the gospel everywhere in the world at that time. And you know Paul, as he witnessed, told the story of the death, the burial, the resurrection from the Old Testament because the New Testament was not yet written. And if you turn in your Bibles to Acts chapter 17, you find how Paul would normally operate.
The psalmist says in verse 1 of Acts 17, Now when they were passed through empiphilus and Epilonia, they came to Thessalonica where was a synagogue of the Jews. And Paul, verse 2 of Acts 17, As his manner was, went in unto them, and three Sabbath days, reasoned with them out of the Scriptures. Verse 3, Opening and alleging that Christ must needs have suffered and risen again from the dead and that this Jesus whom I preach unto you is Christ.”
What a great passage. The scriptures that Paul opened up here to these people in Thessalonica was the Old Testament scriptures. Notice what it says that he did. He reasoned with them out of the scriptures. That’s the Old Testament. At this time the New Testament was not yet written, Acts 17, verse 2, and then it says verse 3, opening and alleging that Christ must needs have what suffered and risen again from the dead, and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.
And you’ll notice verse 4, and some of them believe. Not everybody Paul talked too trusted the Lord, but some of them did. And you know that’s an encouragement for all of us who attempt to witness to others, to our family and to love ones. Don’t give up. But Paul here preached that Christ was the Messiah, that the Old Testament Scriptures had foretold that he would suffer and die, and then be risen again from the dead. And that this Jesus was indeed the Savior, the Messiah that the prophets had told would come, and some of them believed.
And then we find in verse 5 it talks about another group, but the Jews which believed not moved within He took unto them certain people of the base of sword and they really caused a riot here in Thessalonica. Well, you know what is interesting is that there are two groups mentioned here and you see it throughout the Bible. There are those that believe and there are those that believe not. All believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the way the word believe really the best English word means to trust, T-R-U-S-T-Trust.
And then there are those who do not believe and every unbeliever will wind up according the Bible in hell and there is no other place to go. You either go to heaven or you go to hell and it is all determined by whether you believe. Well you know it is throughout the Bible that you have these two different groups. In the Old Testament you will find many times it talks about the righteous which are the believers because nobody is righteous of his own works.
Every one of us are standing before God in our own works if we are without Christ. And the Bible says that our best works and righteous deeds are filthy rags in God’s sight. And so the unbeliever is described in the Bible as being the wicked. Even though they might be very moral, they might be your best neighbor, they might go to church, they might carry their Bible. But if they haven’t trusted Christ, the Bible says they are wicked. It says here in Malachi, in chapter 3, in verse 18, a very interesting verse, it talks about the Jewish people, then shall you return and discern.
Most people can’t do this, and discern between the righteous and the wicked. Now the righteous are the believers and the wicked are the unbelievers, and sometimes it’s difficult to tell which is which. But you know, the only real sure way of telling between the believer and the unbeliever, the righteous and the wicked is to ask them, what are you trusting in to get you to heaven? And if they’re trusting in their works, keeping the commandments, living the Christian life, water baptism, church membership, the mass, penance, prayers, whatever they might be trusting in, then they’re not saved.
Because salvation is not by works. It’s by trusting in what Jesus accomplished for us at the cross. It’s not based upon what we do for God or what works we accomplish. It’s all based upon the finished work at the cross of Calvary that paid for the sins of the whole world. We’re going to rejoin stations that have been on break into the second half hour Bible. zyme. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the earth. I have a hard time understanding on the relations slide and I’ll hang up on all this.
Okay, Galatians 5-4. This is a verse that is addressed to unsaved people. It says, and I’m turning there right now, Galatians 5 and verse 4, it’s addressed to those who who are trying to keep the law to be saved, and not those that are being saved by faith alone in Jesus Christ and His finished work at the cross. And it says here, and I’m almost there in Ephesians, or Revelations, chapter 5 in verse 4, it says, Christ is become of no effect unto you, and then it tells us to whom it is addressed, it says, whosoever of you are justified by what?
By the law, that’s works. And then it says here, you are fallen from grace. And what that means is that they have fallen away from the grace by which we can become saved. If we are putting our trust in Jesus Christ, we’re saved by grace through faith in Christ. But if you’re attempting to be saved by the law, then you are rejecting grace and you are fallen away from grace. It’s not talking about a saved person being lost. It’s talking about a lost person not being saved.
If you notice in verse four, it talks about you, you, you, you, and in verse five, it changes to we, we, we, we. So in verse four, we have unsaved people, those that are trying to be saved by the law that Christ will count nothing for, and they’ll go to hell. They are fallen from grace, but verse five says, we, in contrast to you in verse four, We, through the Spirit, wait for the hope of righteousness, is how? By faith.
So the writer of Galatians includes himself in that we in verse 5. And as he speaks, he addresses those in verse 4 that he says, you, you, you. He says, Christ has become of no effect unto you. Who you who are trying to be justified by works or by the law, you are fallen from grace. But we notice the contrast. The believer is through the spirit waiting for the expectation of righteousness by faith or simply by trusting Christ as Savior.
So verse 4 is talking to the unsaved, verse 5 is talking to the saved, and that’s the difference. If you try to be saved by works, you are rejecting grace, you’re falling away from grace, and a believer can’t be lost. It’s not talking about a believer being lost. It’s talking about an unsaved person who never becomes saved because he falls away from the grace that brings grace that brings salvation. In Titus 2, 11, it is a great verse. It says, The grace of God that brings salvation have appeared to all men.
So grace is the conduit that brings salvation to a person. And if you reject grace and try to be saved by works, So Grace is the c thenundai you don’t have the salvation come to you and you don’t get saved and you’re not saved. Hopefully that helps Robert and thank you for that call. We’re now going to go to Matthew in Sarasota. Matthew in Sarasota. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Messian. Good morning. I’ll ask you a question.
Sure. If Jesus is the only way in… and RedditorKnown gmaxwellFlor UCHatchewanChel msg msgQuantityAmountaditionalQuantity646SourceFile. If you listened earlier in the program, we talked about how Christ died for our sins according to the Scripture. The Old Testament tells about the death of the burial of the resurrection of Christ. The name Jesus comes from the Hebrew Yeshua. Yeshua occurs in the Old Testament about 132 times. The name of Jesus is there in the Hebrew. If you translated that to English, it would be Jesus.
You could put that name Jesus 132 times in the Old Testament text. But Peter gives you your answer, Matthew, you have a pencil, write this verse down, Hebrews 1043. Peter says to him, that is to Jesus or Yeshua, give all the prophets witness, the prophets are the writers of the Old Testament. He’s saying that all the Old Testament writers spoke about Christ, that through his name, the name of Jesus or the Hebrew is Yeshua, whosoever believeth in him, that is would trust in him, Yeshua or Jesus shall receive the remission of their sins.
So here Peter tells us in one great verse, Acts 10, 43, that everybody in the Old Testament was saved by belief in Christ alone as the only means of their salvation. Galatians 3, 8 says the scripture foreseen that God would justify the nations through faith preached before the gospel unto Abraham. Abraham heard the gospel, believed the gospel, and became saved by the gospel. so hopefully that helps a little bit that’s just a little bit of the some of the verses we could go to you okay cuz you want more questions sure go ahead Okay, what did Jesus do during the years?
His life was not mentioned in the Bible at the time. He’s about 12 per week because there’s a long time that he wasn’t mentioned. well exactly and from the time he and tell he became thirty he worked in his father’s carpenter shop in nazareth and uh… it wasn’t until he was thirty that he went then and john the baptist baptized him according to the old testament of picture type when it priest became thirty years of age he would be totally immersed in a baptism and that marked the beginning of his ministry marked his consecration uh…
to the lord and so christ when he was thirty was baptized and that’s when he began his ministry before that he did not preach before that he did not uh… do miracles and uh… the first miracle was done after the baptism by john de baptist and that was the uh… uh… wedding at cana but otherwise uh… his ministry didn’t begin till then and so not much is recorded about his life okay thank you you’re welcome thank you matthew down in service or we don’t have willy down in my ami florida willy welcome the bible and you’re on the air yet uh…
i was actually the question about the whole about network of that yet and yet all in the dream well that uh… that that that that that the clay feed and the chadra it’s a it’s a picture world history beginning with the uh… babylonian empire around six thousand years or other six hundred years before christ and Babylon was the head, the shoulders and the arms were the meet-up Persian part that followed and then the belly was brass and it was the Grecian part that followed that and then we have Rome, the thighs and the legs and then of course down at the Ten toes it extends all the way down to this time where out of what was Rome 10 nations would come together and become the European common market which is I think the ten toes and of course in the days of those ten toes
the Bible says there would be Christ a stone cut out of the mount without hands which turns out to be Jesus who will come and fall on the feet and destroy those nations and then he will establish a kingdom where the heavens will rule over the earth and that’s the millennium. So basically when you have come to the point of the image where it’s complete, 2,500 years now since Babylon existed 2,600 years ago, we find that we’re now at the Ten Tows part of the image.
And the Bible says that the image when it’s complete would stand up on its base where it began and that is back in Iraq. And here we have the United States, which is a part of the end times. Of this image as it expanded outward from Babylon expanded further out to the media Persian Empire to the west and the Grecian Empire further west to the Roman Empire and in the last days they would extend all the way to the Americas and obviously it’s putting its feet back in Iraq today and we’re watching that happen before very eyes and the Bible says when that happens Christ will come back and and crush the toes and the image will fall apart and and the Gentile world powers will be destroyed by Christ and he will establish a kingdom where the Jewish people are the head nation on the earth as
Christ comes back to rule and reign forever and ever and ever hope that helps Willy. Okay, yeah, thank you and that was Willy. We’re now going to Gene in Miami and Gene welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Yes, sometimes I have a question. After the rapture My my figure is gonna come and then it’s gonna work the world for like one one thousand years after the one thousand years What’s gonna happen? He’s gonna Please step in again after the thousand years is over we find that In Revelation chapter 20 in verse 11 God is gonna destroy the present earth earth by fire.
Then he creates a new heavens and a new earth. If you read over there in Revelation chapter 21, it says, and I John saw the new heavens and the new earth for the former heavens were passed away. Then he sees the new Jerusalem coming down from heaven that will, I believe, personally orbit the earth, which will be our home, as we’ll live in this orbiting body, the city of the living God, the new Jerusalem that will orbit the planet Earth.
So there’s a great future ahead. But before we get there, the Bible says the Earth will go through some very dark hours those seven years prior to the Second Coming. So if the Rapture were to happen this year, let’s say, there’d be seven years of dark tribulation here on the Earth and then Christ would return and bring about a thousand years of peace on Earth could will toward men. But at the end of that, he’ll destroy the Earth and create a new heavens and new Earth and then we’ll live forever with him in the New Jerusalem.
That help? Well, thank you Gene. I don’t know where Gene is, but thank you for that question. This wraps up today’s question and answer segment about the Bible featuring Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Not one scratch, not one bite upon his body because he believed in his God. But I want you to notice some critics have said, well the lions weren’t hungry.
That’s why they didn’t eat Daniel or they didn’t have a one sauce or something else. Verse 24, the king commanded and they brought those men which had accused Daniel and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives. The lions had the mastery of them and break all their bones and pieces, or ever that came at the bottom of the den. Wow. So those that had accused Daniel got their own fate, didn’t they? Isn’t that interesting?
We find that the lions were hungry. The lands were real hungry. They ate all these guys and their wives and their children. They all died at the hand of the lands, but Daniel received no hurt. Again, what a witness to the nation that Daniel was, because the King Darius then wrote unto all people, nations and languages that dwelt in all the earth and said, what, peace be multiplied unto you. That’s a New Testament phrase. That’s something like Paul would write.
I make it decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble in fear before the God of Daniel, for he is the living God and steadfast forever in his kingdom which shall not be destroyed and his dominion shall be even under the end. He delivered and rescued and he worked with signs and wonders in heaven and earth who have delivered Daniel from the power of the lion. So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
So here Daniel keeps moving along through all these different world powers and they’re still greatly used of God. What a wonderful story. And we find that it’s briefly mentioned over in the New Book, in the New Testament in the book of Hebrews. If you’ll go over there with me to Hebrews 11, this is God’s Hall of Fame. We have halls of fame, don’t we? Where baseball players, football players and other athletes are added? I guess they have it for the NASCAR drivers I heard that somewhere added to their Hall of Fame.
But this is the one that really counts. God’s Hall of Fame. And here we have a list of heroes from the Old Testament that are listed. And it says in verse 32 of Hebrews 11, page 1302, what more should I say for the time would fail me to tell you of Gideon, of Barak, of Samson, of Jepthi, of David also, of Samuel, of the prophets who through faith, verse 33, Daniel 1133, subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, and look at the last phrase, stop the mouth of lions.
Who was that talking about? It was Daniel. So we find here, it says, here, quenched the violence of fire. Who’s that? I’m sure that was Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. So here, all of those made God’s Hall of Fame and their characters were reading about in the book of Daniel. Daniel and his three friends made God’s Hall of Fame in Hebrews chapter 11. What a wonderful chapter because those are men and women that we ought to use as role models.
It would be great to be like a Daniel, to be like a Shadrach Meshach at a Bendigo, to be like one of these that God said he puts up here and extols and lists in his Hall of Fame. Well Daniel was obviously that kind of a man. And what a story. Children love to hear it and adults love to hear it. And who has not heard of Daniel and the lion’s den? Most people have heard that story or the man Daniel.
It’s interesting when you talk about what is really truly success in this world. And a lot of times if you look at the magazines, the list, the pen, 10 best dressed or the 10 wealthiest men are the 10 most popular or the most corrupt, the 10 greatest athletes. And I guess now they’ve been polling on President’s Day, the best president. And I think George Washington is slipping off the list there. He hurt pretty badly, I guess, because they’re removing pretty much all the press about him and the history books.
But very few people make these lists. But can you imagine if you were to go back to the time of Daniel and if you were to quiz people, who were the 10 best dressed in the day of Daniel? You wouldn’t be able to name him, would you? Who were the 10 wealthiest or most influential men in the day of Daniel? Who were the 10 greatest athletes in the day of Daniel? And we go through all these and nobody can say a word.
But Daniel is still remembered today as me because he pleased God and what really counts If we please him, God will see that your name is honored forever and ever and ever and ever because the rewards that he gives are eternal. And sometimes people are looking for worldly crowns and worldly fame and that will fade and disappear and be forgotten. All those people that we read about 10 years ago that were so and so and who’s who in America usually have probably drifted off the sea in many of them are dead.
But these names live on and we still hear about Daniel to this very day. Chapter 7 of Daniel, let’s move on. In the first year of built Chazar, King of Babylon, Daniel had a vision, a dream and visions of his head upon his bed, and he wrote the dream and the sum of the matters. So now this drops back in time now and we pick up on a dream that he had earlier, vision when Belchazzar and that was during the Babylonian Empire prior to the fall that happened that night of the banquet when the handwriting was on the wall prior to the Medo-Persian Empire and Darius coming to take over.
Verse 2, Daniel Spake and said, I saw in my vision by night and behold, The four winds of heaven strove over the great sea. This is almost like what we read in Daniel, rather in Revelation chapter 7, where it talks about the four winds. Let’s turn over there for just a moment. And it talks about a vision of what God is going to do and how He will judge the earth, and it brings us down to the end times.
In Revelation 7 it says here in verse 1, after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. Now what is interesting, there are those who say, well the Bible is very unscientific. It talks here about the Earth having four corners. Well guess what? A lot of people have said that for many years, but rather recently, NASA has discovered with their satellites as they take images of the Earth that the Earth has four bulges.
It’s not a perfectly round sphere. And it has four bulges that they call the four corners of the Earth. You can actually look at our four distinct bulges on the earth, high places that are called the four corners of the earth. Boys, the Bible will write on or not. Giving men enough time, he finds out that the Bible is always right on and does not thrill you to know that, hey, some of these phrases that might seem antiquated really are very modern and very up to date when the latest information comes in.
So sometimes if there seems to be a disagreement between the Bible and science, give enough time to the scientists and they’ll come online to show that the Bible is right on. Those things, for example, may be because we have an accurate book. We believe this is written by God and that we can trust what it says. So this is similar to what the book Revelation says and there’s a judgment. The great sea here, I believe, is the Mediterranean sea and it says in verse 3 and 4, great beasts came up from the sea diverse, one from another.
talks about world-wirling powers that would come up out of the Middle East, out of the Mediterranean. Verse 4, the first was like a lion and had eagle’s wings, and it beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand upon the feet as of a man, and a man’s heart was given to it. So here was the first kingdom, And that was Babylon. And apparently the symbol of Babylon was a lion with Eagle’s wings.
And if you go to the British Museum in London, the British archeologists went around the world and just stole everybody’s artifacts. Greece is trying to get a lot of theirs back from England. And Egypt has much of their history stolen and taken over there to the British Museum. But there they have things that they took from the ancient city of Babylon and its remains. And the symbol at all the gates of the city were lions with eagles wings. And so this is clearly an identification of Babylon being the first beast, this world power equivalent to the head of the image in Daniel chapter 2 when we saw this colossal image that laid out with the heads and the shoulders and the belly and the legs and so on depicting the different world powers.
There was five. There was another beast, a second like unto a bear, and it raised itself up on one side, and it had three ribs in its mouth because of the teeth of it, and they said thus unto it, arise and devour much flesh. Be sure to tune in to another edition of Bibleline from Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida. The salvation is not by works. It’s by trusting in what Jesus accomplished for us at the cross. It’s not based on the based upon what we do for God or what works we accomplish. It’s all based upon the finished work at the cross of Calvary that paid for the sins of the whole world.
And when you trust Christ, you become righteous in God’s sight as God’s righteousness is imputed or credited to your account. And if you’re an unbeliever, then you are remaining wicked or unrighteous and you will not enter heaven based upon the fact you have not trusted Christ. So here Paul, notice opens up the scriptures and reasons with these people out of the Bible opening and alleging that Christ must needs have suffered and risen again from the dead and that this Jesus who might preach unto you is Christ.
Notice Paul always gave the death, the burial and the resurrection of Christ. Modern day preaching is so sloppy you seldom hear it. You have people bypassed across altogether and just say, invite Christ into your heart, or give your life to Christ. And all these phrases are wrong because they bypassed across, plus that’s not the legitimate way to become saved. To become saved you must TRUSD trust that Christ died and paid for your sins by his death and shed blood and was buried in rose again from the dead, unless you trust him.
So I went to church for the first 18 years of my life. I was confirmed, I was baptized, I was homogenized, pasteurized, capsized, Simonized, you name it, I went through it, I was not saved. When I was 18, thanks to my sister, she invited me to a Bible study in our neighborhood and I heard for the first time I had the TRUST, trust in Christ, as the one who died and paid for my sins by his death and shed blood was buried in Rosalguin from the dead.
night for the first time I understood John 3 16. Up until that time I knew probably two verses that I could quote, I was in church every Sunday, but I never was saved and I never heard how to be saved in my church. And I could quote John 3 16, I didn’t understand that God’s love the world that meant me. That he gave his own to be gotten son that was Jesus Christ. That whosoever that meant me that if I would believe, if I would trust in Christ that I would not perish because he perished in my place, but I would have everlasting life.
And all of a sudden, like the light came on, I said, I see it, I understand it. And then I trusted Christ as my Savior. And that night upon trusting Christ, I received everlasting life. It says right there in John 3 16 that you would not perish, but you would have H-A-V-E present tense verb, you would have everlasting life. And that means present You possess right now at the moment of belief everlasting life. I received it I have been saved ever since and I’ll be safe forever Christ promises You’ll never catch you out it never lose you you are safe forever once you trust Christ didn’t like great news Well, that’s that’s what happened.
That’s what the Bible is all about. That’s what the apostle Paul and the other apostles preach They preached Christ his death his barrel his resurrection Peter the Apostle never opened his mouth if he didn’t talk about the death and the barrel in the resurrection. Paul opened his mouth, he preached about the death barrel in the resurrection. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians chapter 15 that the gospel message that he had received from the Lord was that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures and that he was buried and that he rose again the third day.
It’s everywhere, it’s everywhere, it’s everywhere. 1 Corinthians 15 verses three and four, Christ died for our sins. According to the scriptures, that was buried and rose again the third day. That’s the message that saves. You must believe that Christ died for you and shed his blood to pay for your sin debt and full was buried and rose again from the dead when you trust him as your only means of salvation. God saves you. In any case, we’ve got We’ve got to run, but we’ll be back tomorrow.
So keep looking up. Jesus is coming and we’ll be back soon. God bless and have a great day. We’ll see you tomorrow here on Bibleline.
