Now join us for Dr. Lindstrom’s teaching for today as we turn to the Book of Matthew chapter 1. Verse 21, and she brought, she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins. So here notice God tells Joseph that she’s going to have a male child.

You know that was before today with the sonograms. You know it’s only been rather recent that parents know in advance what sex they’re going to have. They would always get ready for either sex saying we don’t know what we’re going to have and so we had a contingency plan whether it would be a boy or a girl. And now parents know before the child is born and they usually announce we’re going to have a boy or we’re going to have a girl and we already know.

because they now let the secret out early. But here, notice God knew it way before. Notice it talks here about a prophecy that now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled, which is spoken of the Lord by the prophet, behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son. That was 700 years before the birth of Christ. And God knew it would be a male child that Mary would bring forth. Isn’t that interesting? So talk about the sonogram.

Okay, that’s right now. You know what sex this child will be when it’s born, but God foreknew way before and told it by Isaiah and we can go back even further that God talked about a male child that would be born of a virgin that would be the Messiah and God told the sex before the birth of that child. He knows what’s going on, doesn’t he? Let’s go back to verse 21 She shall bring forth a son and thou shall call his name Jesus.

The word that the angel gave to Joseph was Yeshua. If you go by the modern pronunciation of God’s name, the YHWH is today pronounced Yahweh. And when connected with Yasha, which means salvation, the contraction is Yeshua. And that’s the name that he was given. And The English form is Jesus. Now that name, and we covered this past Sunday in church, the name Yeshua occurs in the Old Testament about 130 times. And so amazingly, the name of Jesus is there, but it’s not the English form Jesus, but it’s the Hebrew form Yeshua.

So if somebody says, can you show me the name Jesus in the Old Testament? not the English form, but over 130 times the name Yeshua is there. Look to your right at Acts 10, 43. Look at what Peter says. And you’ll find this throughout the Old and New Testament now. And it says in Acts chapter 10 and verse 43, where Peter sums up the whole testament for us in one verse. I love this passage. In Acts 10 verse 43, Peter the apostle says, verse 43, page 1163, to him, Christ, Jesus.

Give all the prophets. That’s the writers of the Old Testament witness that through his name, please notice, through his name, whosoever believe within him. Shall receive what? Remission of sins. So salvation has always been in the name of Jesus. In the Old Testament, it is Yeshua. The English form is Jesus. And you find it through the whole Old Testament. Isn’t that amazing? And so the Old Testament taught about Christ. And his name was Yeshua. And they believed on Yeshua to be saved.

Let’s go back to Genesis 49 and we find their Jacob. Jacob. was, of course, the one who wrestled with the angel of the Lord, which we believe is Christ, and had his name changed that night when he got saved, the child of God to Israel. In theestyle couple of chapters of Genesis, he gets all of his 12 sons together, and he gives a prophecy that would take us all the way down to the Second Coming of Christ. In Genesis 49.1, in verse 1 of Genesis 49 on page 68, it says, Jacob called unto his sons and said, gather yourselves together that I may tell you what shall befall you in the last days.

Not the last days of his life nor the last days of their life, but the last days for us. In other words, this was a prophecy that would take us all the way down to now and to what would happen when Jesus would come the second time. In here he tells that Jesus would come out of the tribe of Judah. We saw that in the genealogy. learn the antichrist will probably come out of the tribe of Dan. But look at what Jacob says in verse 18, I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord.

You look up that word salvation in your strongs in accordance and it is Yeshua. The very name that the angel gave to Joseph in Matthew 1 as the name of the baby that Mary would bear. And so Jacob said he was looking forward to. He says, I have waited for thy Jesus. We could put Jesus in there or Yeshua, O Lord. Isn’t that amazing? Jacob says he was waiting for the Messiah. They all knew about the Messiah coming. The first promise was in Genesis 3.15.

The seat of the woman would one day defeat Satan. and here Jacob, three generations down, says, I have waited for thy Jesus or thy Yeshua, O Lord. And that’s just the beginning of about 130 times the word Yeshua occurs. You can look it up in your concordance. You can count them out for yourself and you can look at them, but they’re wonderfully placed throughout the Bible. And those that would put their trust in Him would receive, of course, everlasting life.

And throughout the Old Testament you have that phrase used again and again and again. Look if you will, it’sgnu. Page 644, if you have the right kind of Bible. That’s the Old Scofield. I’m going to get you to get one if you don’t have one. And think again, Tony, do you have that Spanish one with you? Hold it up. This is something we have on the table here, too. It’s leather-bound. And on the left side, it’s English and the Scofield notes.

On the right side it’s Spanish and the Scofield notes in Spanish. You get two complete Bibles in one. It’s just a beautiful thing. And if you know both languages, that’s got to be really a special treat. Look if you will, in Psalm 91, page 644, in verse 14, because he hath said his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him, I will set him on high because he hath known my name. Notice, almost like John 3 16, he said his love upon me.

For God so loved the world Therefore I will deliver him Christ would come and send The Lord Jesus Christ God and flesh to be the deliver the Savior. I will set him on high That means he’d take us to heaven to live with him forever Why because he has known my what my name? What is his name? Yeshua in English? It’s Jesus Verse 15 he’ll call upon me. What does the Bible say? Whosoever whose whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

What is his name Jesus? What is his name in the Hebrew Yeshua? He shall call upon me and I will answer him and I’ll be with him in trouble I’ll deliver him and honor him for 16 with long life. I believe it’s everlasting life Well, I satisfy him and show him my what that word salvation is Yeshua And I’ll show him my Jesus or I’ll show him my Yeshua So the one who believes on Christ will one day see Him.

The Bible says face to face. Job said that. He said, though I die and though the worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh, well I see God. He knew he would see the Savior. He knew he would see the Redeemer. And here it says with long life, eternal life, will I satisfy Him and show Him by Jesus. so many references. And you can get Sunday’s message and get a lot of the ones that we went through on Sunday.

But it’s fascinating here in Matthew when the angel talks to Joseph and says his name should be called Yeshua. It’s the very name that was used throughout all the Old Testament. Here was the salvation that Jacob had waited for. Here’s the one that if they knew his name and called upon it, they would be saved. And what did Peter say? to Christ give all the prophets witness that through his name Whosoever believeth in him should receive the remission of their sins Really quite amazing and it really ties the Bible together doesn’t it from one end of the other as one complete Revelation about this Savior Yeshua or Jesus God who would save you now back to Matthew chapter 21 And it says here in verse 21 Then he shall bring forth a son.

We know that the sex of the child was predicted. Thou shall call his name Yeshua, which was the name of the Old Testament Savior, which was God who would save you. God who would come and the person of the Messiah. And it says, 4, in verse 21 and 4, could be translated because, because because because because because because what? He shall save. He shall save. He shall save his people from their sins. What does name mean? Yeshua or Jesus means God who saves.

And so he would be named that because that’s the mission he came to accomplish. Throughout the Bible in the Old Testament especially, the Jewish people named people with a name that had to do with their purpose and so on. Moses was called Moses it means drawn out. You’re listening to Bible Eye, a teaching ministry that’s dedicated to delivering the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are many items available from our resource center, such as Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s DVD teachings on the topics of Repentance, Faith Without Works, and the Rapture, in addition to many others when you call 1-800-576-3771.

Now we’re going to take a break from our teaching to listen to Dr. Lindstrom answering questions from callers and then we’ll rejoin today’s teaching. We’re now going to go to Becky in Richmond, Virginia. Becky, welcome to Bible Life. Yes, sir. This pertains to the rapture. I know that in the Bible Jesus says, commands us to watch and look for Him. And I wanted to know as believers that some believers are not watching, they kind of fall away for different.

Wanted to know do all believers, are all believers taken up in the Rapture, even the ones who aren’t watching as well. Absolutely. Okay. And if you go to 1st of Solomon’s chapter 5, it tells us that we ought to be vigilant, ought to be awake, we ought to be serving and living for Christ as we watch and look for the return of Christ at the Rapture. But what a wonderful verse we have there that tells us that whether we are asleep to the switch or whether we’re awake, we’re going to be raptured up.

Let me get this verse here. It’s 1st Thessalonians chapter 5 verse 10 says, who died for us that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. And this is in the context of that chapter on the Rapture. So whether you’re awake as a Christian or whether you’re asleep as a Christian, you’re going to be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and you’ll be with him. Okay, well that’s great. Thank you. You know the other position is what is called the partial Rapture where there are those who teach based upon your works and your obedience and whether you’re watching or not watching only those that are really serving are going to be raptured and then there will be other believers will be left behind.

That’s not true. Every believer will be snatched up. And the key is verse 14 of chapter 4. If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we’re going to be with Him. That’s the gospel answer message. If you believe the gospel message of the death, the burial of the resurrection of Christ is the only means of your salvation. My friend, you will be raptured. Becky, you will be raptured. And don’t let anybody sell you short on that, every believer is going to be raptured and the unbelievers will be left behind and no believer will be left behind at the event of the rapture.

We now have an anonymous caller from Jacksonville, Florida and we’re going to go to Jacksonville Florida and we have anonymous. Welcome to Bibleline. Hi. Yes. Good morning, Dr. Lestrom. Just something came to my mind as you were talking about the name Yeshua. I haven’t studied languages that much, but how did it get translated from Yeshua with a Y into J being Jesus? I mean, where did they get the Jesus word from to begin with in English years ago when I did translate and let me hang up so I can hear you better.

Thank you. Have a good day. Okay. It’s an English thing. It’s an English thing. The word is really Yahweh. The other word is Yasha, which means salvation. Yahweh is God’s personal name. The contraction of it is Yeshua. Back in the 16-11 time when they translated it Jehovah, it was really Yahovah. But we don’t have that sound in English, So they translated Jehovah. And of course in English we just say Jesus. Which again, I think God will allow for that because nobody really knows how to pronounce his name exactly correct.

But if you believe in this one who is the creator of the universe, the one who is the author of the scriptures that we have, the one who revealed himself in human flesh in the person of Jesus. When you trust on him, he saves you. We’re going to Yvonne in Tampa, Florida. Yvonne, welcome to Bibleline, and you’re on the air. Hi. I was listening to your early comments on speaking in tongue that’s unknown to the speaker. Yeah. And in regard to that in 1 Corinthians chapter 14 verse 2, this is the amplified New Testament.

It says, for one who speaks in an unknown tongue, speaks not to man, but to God. For no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the Holy Spirit, he utters secret truths and hidden things, not obvious to the understanding. Okay, what’s happening in 1 Corinthians 14, 2, is the misuse of the genuine gift. The Corinthian believer was speaking to people in the Corinthian church that understood Greek, but they didn’t understand the foreign language gift that they had. And so that’s why the word unknown is in italics throughout the chapter.

It’s added by the translators. They were trying to let us know that this was a known language, but it was unknown to the hearer. And so basically, if somebody spoke in Russian in the Greek church, then nobody in the church would understand him. He got under would understand Russian, but nobody in the Greek church would. And so he said, as far as the person in the congregation would be concerned, it would be a mystery, what was being said. They wouldn’t understand it.

And it’s quite clear in the chapter that is talking here about speaking words that would communicate. It says in verse 9, so likewise, ye, except ye uttered by the tongue, words easy to be understood. How shall it be known when it’s spoken? You just speak into the air. So the same thing as verse 2, if you are speaking in a language that’s not understood by the hearer, then you’re wasting everybody’s time. And that thought carries throughout the whole chapter here.

It says here in verse 15, what is it then? I’ll pray with the Spirit. I’ll pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the Spirit. I’ll sing with the understanding also. What it’s saying there is that you would sing or pray in a language that the person would understand so that they would know what you’re saying. Verse 26 really clarifies that by saying then, else when thou shalt bless with the Spirit, how shall he that occupy of the room of the unlearned, say amen, at thy giving of thanks, seeing he does not understand what you’re saying.

He will not understand if you’re not using his language. And this was the misuse. So it’s not a secret prayer language. not speaking to God in a special language, it’s really saying that if you don’t speak in the language that the hearer can understand, then you’re only really speaking to God because you’ve excluded everyone else. The purpose of the gift of tongues was to speak to the lost in their language and they would understand it and they would become saved.

This is not a proof text and certainly the thought there is to be able to communicate in the language of the people and the Corinthians were acting like babies and they were showing off their gift rather than using it as it should be. If you have children, you know what they’ll do. If you have guests over, they come coming out of the bedroom and they’ll drag some noisy toy and they’ll walk right in the middle of your guest and they want to show off.

And Paul is saying that they needed to grow up and realize that tongues was for communication. Verse 20 later in the chapter says, brethren, be not children in understanding. How be it in malice be like children, but in understanding be like men. And then he explains that God’s purpose for this age was to evangelize the Jewish people in Gentile languages. And that’s why he gave the gift of these Gentile languages at Pentecost. And there were 16 countries that are named there by name in Acts 2.

And those people from all of those countries where they had been born and raised in a Gentile language heard the Gospel in the very dialect of that language. And that’s why 3,000 people got saved. They were communicating the Gospel to these unsaved Jews from all over the world in the very language that they were born and raised in. And they said, how is it that we hear in the language the dialect that we were born and raised with? These were uneducated Jewish men, the apostles that were speaking these languages and they understood.

So it was clearly not a secret prayer language. And 1 Corinthians 14, too, is not speaking of something that is secret either. It’s talking about the misuse. And if I were to speak, for example, nobody in my church, I don’t think would understand Russian. If I gave a sermon in Russian, I would be speaking to God only. be the only one in my audience because nobody else in my church would understand Russian. So I deliver my messages in English, because this radio program is in English so that you can understand what I’m saying and that’s what was happening in Corinth.

But if I switched a language up here where you didn’t understand that language then I’d be wasting your time and mine and God would listen to me but he’d be the only one hearing me. I hope that helps. And I think that person is gone. Thank you so much for calling in. This is Bibleline and again I hope everybody is listening and is careful to take a look at the Bible afresh and in 1 Corinthians 14 we find the whole chapter is talking about the misuse of the genuine gift.

And by the way if you follow the rules about the real gift and they applied even to this false gift today it would cease overnight because it says in verse 34 let your women keep silence and the churches. 95% of the people that speak in the gibberish today are women and if they were not allowed to say a word in their church in gibberish, I think the movement would die overnight. And they don’t follow the rules, obviously. People are speaking in the gibberish in church when women are not to say a peep in tongues in church and 1 Corinthians 14, 1934 is not enforced anywhere.

We’re now going to Earl in D’Lan, Florida Earl welcome to by one. You’re on the year It’s explaining you’re teaching early about James and you kept saying a brother my brother. Yeah, I want to be good explain Our chapter one verse one it was there’s a two to twelve tribes scattered I’ll hang up and listen. Thank you. Sure James is writing to Jewish believers that were scattered. And what’s interesting is that you have some false teaching out there today that says that some of the tribes are missing or lost.

They certainly weren’t lost in James’s time because he’s writing to 12 tribes and that’s all the tribes are word. 12 sons of Jacob became the 12 tribes of Israel. His name was changed from Jacob to Israel. And so he’s writing to these Jewish believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, who calls him my brother and my brother and my brother. So he’s writing to Jewish believers and he’s writing in particular to the Jews that were scattered in different parts of the world that were now getting saved wherever they might be living.

They weren’t living in Israel, but the letter was addressed to those Jews that had become saved and now were brethren and members of the body of Christ that he was writing to tell them that they needed to serve the Lord. It’s pretty much a book about if you’re going to have blessings from God, you’re going to have to serve. And thank you for that, Paul. We hope that you’re learning with us. To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. If you have your Bible there, get it out. I’m going to turn to Ephesians chapter 2 in verse 8 and 9. It says here, 4 by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast or brag. This is a great verse. What a grand verse. I have been to Ephesus, Turkey, and I have stood there in the great big epathieter where, The Bible tells us in the book of Acts that the people of Ephesus cried out there for two hours solid, great is Diana, the goddess of the Ephesians.

Great is Diana, the goddess of the Ephesians. Great is, well, Paul had a great impact there at that city. He stayed there for 18 months and he led many to Christ and he writes the wonderful letter to the believers at Ephesus, the book of Ephesians. And I just thought of that as I stood there in Ephesus in that great big arena And here I thought of those words as Paul wrote back to them and said, For by grace mercy, unmerited favor, you have been saved through faith in Christ Jesus.

Wow, Diana couldn’t save them. The great goddess of the Ephesians of the city of Ephesus, but Jesus could. And he reminds them of their salvation experience when he was there and led them to Christ. and he says, for by grace, by mercy, by unmerited favor, are you saved or you have been saved through faith in Christ Jesus? Here he tells them of the salvation that they had experienced when they trusted Christ as Savior and notice it is a past event because for the believer at the moment you believe, that’s when you become saved, it’s at the moment you believe that that’s the moment when you receive everlasting life.

is from that moment on that you are saved that is delivered from hell and the penalty of sin and death and that occurs at the moment you trust Christ as your Savior. Wow, that’s got to be the best news you’ll ever hear and hear the Ephesians were reminded of that in this beautiful letter. For by grace you have been saved through faith in Christ Jesus and this salvation is not of yourself, it is the gift of God, and in verse 9 of Ephesians 2, it says, not of works, lest any man should boast.

I was raised in church, but I never knew Ephesians 2, 8, and 9 existed in my Bible, and then the night I got saved. Going to a Bible study for teens, that my sister had invited me to, I didn’t want to go, but I was there to just get my sister off my back, and I sat and listened, and I heard Ephesians 2 8 and 9 for the first time in my life. A couple of things caught my attention.

Number one, it says 4 by grace. I’m so glad they didn’t think that I knew anything about the Bible when I came that night because that confused me. My mother’s name was Grace. And so I thought in my mind, who is she? 4 by Grace. That’s how ignorant of the Bible I was right after graduating out of high school. I was raised in church, you see, but I didn’t know any of these terms. And so was explained that grace was mercy and merit and favor and mercy that I did not deserve or merit that it was not based upon my needs.

And the next phrase that really caught my attention was, it was the gift of God. And I said, wow, if it’s a gift, then I could receive it. I’d never heard that before. I never knew that eternal life was the gift of God. I love Romans 623 where it says, the gift of God is eternal life. The gift of God is eternal life. The gift of God is eternal life. The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Well, wow. So the Bible throughout tells us that salvation is the gift of God. It’s the gift of God. And then it says, and that none of yourselves, it’s the gift of God and in verse nine says, It says in verse 9, not of works lest any man should boast or brag. And that one really got my attention because my church had taught works were necessary to go to heaven, that I had to have more good works than bad works one day.

You know I had this picture that came from my church of a scale. And one day after you died, God would bring out all these books and everybody would be lined up. Your name would be called out. They’d read out of the books whatever good works you had done, whatever bad works you had done and then they would apply works on this great big scale. Angels would be busy as bees loading weights up and you’d watch a weight being weighed or put on the scale for your good works and then more weights being placed there for your bad works and you’d watch the scale and fear and trembling and hope hope that you had more good works than bad works.

And, uh, and that, uh, you’d make it into heaven. I’m gonna go back and now join the stations that have been on break. And due to the second half hour Bibleline, here we go. Would you like to help Bibleline continue in your area? You can! Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. And now back to Bibleline. Welcome back from the break. Please make plans to join us and open your Bible as we also present in-depth studies covering a variety of biblical topics. Now let’s return to our question and answer segment and then you’ll hear more Bible teaching from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Now we have Steve in Jackson, Michigan calling in and Steve, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Lindstrom. Good morning. I’ve got a question concerning people hearing the gospel message.

Well, what is it I guess if anything that determines whether or not a person will ever hear a clear and understandable gospel message in their lifetime? Well the answer is that if they seek they’ll get it. So Jeremiah 29-13 says, you shall seek me and bind me when you shall search me with all your heart. So the Bible promises to the seeking person that before they die, God will get the message to them by bringing another Christian across their path or bringing them across a Christian’s path.

And I’ve experienced this throughout my life. If you’re willing to witness, you’ll be surprised at how people will come across your path. And I’ve led people just where I used to live. I had a lot of people that would come across my path. I’ve led people to Christ that came across my path from Ethiopia, from Somalia, from Peru, from Bolivia, from Russia, from Europe. I mean, I could start naming the countries, but I didn’t have to go very far outside of my door.

The Lord brought people to me. And I have gone to other countries and led people to Christ, and it’s amazing how God will match you up if you’re seeking. So Jeremiah 29 and 13 is a verse that is a wonderful promise. And in the book of Job in chapter 33, it talks about how God would keep you alive through disease, war, battle until a messenger can get to you with the gospel. So he’s not even going to let you die.

You can get sick and you can be in war and be in battle and you’ll survive somehow until that messenger gets to you that somebody will bring the gospel to you. It’s an incredible promise in God’s Word. So that’s the answer. Well, I guess if a person is speaking then that God then, because I was noticing one of your answers, says your God promises to give him the truth and I’m assuming that’s the correct truth. That is correct. So like, well, God then protect them from what, like you call male practicing pastors.

made the comment that there’s no practicing pastors out there in churches. And so will God make sure that these people are protected from those particular messages and make sure they get the clear gospel? I believe they will get it. They may not get it perfectly, but they’ll get it sufficiently that they’ll understand the gospel and become saved. And I believe even after you get saved, I believe, for example, there are Jehovah’s Witnesses that are clearly in the wrong environment.

And yet if they are seeking, they’ll find the truth. We had a fellow that was a sixth generation, Jehoshua, and this high up in the echelon of leadership, traveled and spoke for the witnesses in 80 countries around the world. He came to me and said, you know Hank, he said, I committed the unpardonable sin. I said, what’s that? He said, I listened to Bible and radio. And he got saved. And he and his wife have left the witness movement and they are living for Christ now knowing that he is the Savior.

And he was seeking. And you know the Lord mentioned him up with us. And I believe that God is using Bible on it as one of those tools. And there are many other means by which God gets the gospel to a seeking person. But there are some great stories of people really in great darkness as if you’re in the witness movement, you’re in great darkness that cut saved and come out of it by seeking the world sent to the right people well-speaking of the call i mean i drive by a mormon word here our town every morning and see the part about full of people you know i’m wondering you know what is the breakdown and what where’s the fault there that these people are seeking or that we have christians just haven’t got up and got the message to them but i don’t think we’ve ever talked to them

they have a completely wrong message and some of them were just never given the message So is it that they’re not seeking or we haven’t just got off our stuff and done something to get them the message? Well, obviously there’s two parts of the story here. You were to be faithful witnesses, but on their part ultimately they’ll have no excuse because apparently they’re not seeking. In Romans 1, I love that passage in Romans 1 18, 19, and 20. And it says that God himself plants a knowledge of the fact that exists in every person.

And then it goes on to say that they are therefore without excuse. They will not be able to say, hey, I didn’t hear the message and God is going to say you don’t have an excuse because if you seek, you will find, and Romans chapter 2 goes on to say that those who seek are going to find the same thing I just quoted from Jeremiah 2913. So the seeking person will find the truth no matter what environment they are raised in, whether it be in a foreign country or wherever it might be.

And that is just the way that God works. Well, I was told there are places in the world where there isn’t any written or spoken gospel. And I guess are we to assume that nobody in those areas are seeking or God is using some other method for those particular people? Well, you know, I have, for example, I had a secretary that I led the Christ and worked for me and she met a young man that was a similar interest in reaching people in the foreign field and they both had some medical training.

And so they’ve lived out their lives now in Bolivia, down in South America, living with a tribe that is only about 125 members and they’ve born and have had born four and raised four children in the jungle. And they’ve led many of these people to Christ. And so apparently some in that tribe must have been seeking because why in the world would God send them to that particular tribe where they’ve translated the word into their language and are preaching the gospel to this tribe.

And God gave them a desire. So on our part we need to be willing to go. And on the part of the loss they need to be willing or seek. And then God matches up the seeking person with the witnessing person and we get the joy of being able to be the ambassador, the representative, the voice, the messenger that brings the gospel to him i have one other question i have to go ahead in listening to you and listening to other messages around the internet i mean there’s lots of them out there you go listen to you seem to be in the minority uh…

as far as specially repentance teaching and lordship uh… to the other teachers obviously to repent of your sins and things and lordship that you know continue doing are you know of other speakers out there that teach the same thing that that you do i know if there’s a dentists rock right up in delude but i don’t find very many i’m not picture on i i i i i like that straight but like i don’t know if you’ve noticed that there aren’t that many out there i have i have noticed that in fact when i uh…

began many years ago i had people say you’re the only one teaching this and order to show that i wasn’t i i wrote a and if you have my uh… if you have internet you can go to my articles Dr. Linson articles on the bottom right hand of the home page of my website Bible administries.org And I wrote one called the incompatibility of the teaching or the false teaching on repentance And I quoted about eight or ten very good authors that say the same thing Dwight Pentecost Charles Rirey Hal Lindsey and a whole list of really good ones and And it really was helpful for people to say, hey, there are other people out there.

And there are many who have it right. But it seems like the majority have really got it wrong on repentance and had works to salvation by saying you have to turn from your sin. But also on this worship thing, I wrote another one and I quoted a whole host of people that have it right. But I know that the truth is in in the minority oftentimes, and we just have to keep on keeping on and try to proclaim this as loud as we can.

And hopefully we can, in fact, those that are preaching to clarify their message, because I know that a lot of messages that people give are just unclear. They’re sloppy. They’re not careful in presenting the gospel. They don’t think it’s important, apparently, to make sure that you’re clear. But I hope that helps, Steve, a little bit. i think i just want to know more people out there making the messages available is just very very limited i don’t know it and sometimes uh…

were likely like uh… john about to set a you know voice crying in the wilderness and uh… oftentimes uh… that is true each one of us as a christian ought to be that voice We are now going to go to Matthew and Matthew is in Spring Hill Florida. Matthew, welcome to Bibleline. You are on the air. We work with the share of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s great. It’s great. It’s great. We spent a lot of time with Steve.

We’re now going to go to Matthew and Matthew is in Spring Hill, Florida. Matthew. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on theOSP. Good morning, pastor. I just wanted to add a comment to the gentleman that called about the visitation and what you said about concerning the gentleman. uh… or still uh… thought that we use who’s leading the revival in lakeland i watch a video uh… of an interview with him and he claimed that uh… heaven opened up in jesus walked out and came down to him as he was when he was on the earth and he had long hair and what’s interesting is that he said that he spoke with him face to face and a life-changing experience uh…

what is interesting to me was previously in a week i was led to a site uh… uh… a muzzlem website and uh… website is jesus dash one zero one dot com anyone’s interested and the experience i speak about is right on key with what this was a site was saying about uh… what their interpretation of jesus was that if you want me to face to face and see them as his disciples on all you have to do is pray to him and close your eyes and just pray that you’ll see him and you’ll see him and uh…

mister betley also claims that he visited heaven and saw paul in a log cabin and spoke of him and he said how paul told him that neighbor and helped him write hebrews and that’s why they’re the authorship of hebrews is uncertain so on and also if you watch the videos mister betley seems to be one of these great healers and worker of miracles so uh… i just want to warn everyone you know it’s real and uh… he’s a truly the last day well obviously he didn’t see jesus because jesus doesn’t have long hair and i think that’s very clear in the bible we pointed out many times he would not violate scripture uh…

which we just quoted a moment ago from first grade eleven fourteen is a shame for man have long hair Christ would therefore not have long hair. But also, we know that the hairstyle of the time of Christ was short hair and also that Judas had to be paid to betray Christ when if he had long hair and everybody else had short hair, it would have been easy to just say go out and find the first guy with long hair and you’ve got him.

But obviously Jesus looked just like everybody else had the same hairstyle and Judas had to actually walk on over and embrace Jesus and kiss him on the cheek to identify him from anybody else there. Of course, the other disciples were there. They all had short hair. And Jesus obviously also had short hair. So whoever he saw was not Jesus. So now watch out. Thank you, Matthew, for that. That concludes today’s question and answer segment. There’s no other topic that is more important to us than the gospel of Jesus Christ.

And it was Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s mission to spread the gospel. Through your support for Bibleline, you too can help to spread the gospel of Christ throughout the world and to reach others with the message of salvation through Jesus. Visit our website at BibleLineMinistries.org for copies of any of our resources such as Dr. Lindstrom’s audio CDs on the books of John or Hebrews plus many others. Now join us as we return to today’s teaching series. Throughout the Bible, in the Old Testament especially, the Jewish people named people with a name that had to do with their purpose and so on.

Moses was, called Moses, it means drawn out in the Princess. When she heard the baby cry and they took the little basket and the baby was in the Nile River, she called him Moses because she says I’ve drawn him out of the river. Moses means drawn out. And so many of the Old Testament saints had names that were significant. And of course the Savior the same way. So he was named Jesus because that’s what his name means. He shall save his people from their sins.

Now look at verse 22. Now all this was done that it might be what? Fulfilled. Fulfilled. Fulfilled. And now it’s going to quote the Old Testament. You know Christianity didn’t begin 2,000 years ago. He began through the pages of the Old Testament and even before that the Bible says before the foundations of the earth God planned that Christ would be slain for your sin and mine. So it was not some afterthought, not something that came along later. One night a number of years ago I had nothing to do and I just grabbed a world-book and cyclopedia off the shelf.

And I looked up Christianity. The first sentence said, the religion that was founded by Jesus Christ. I said, man, wrong on two counts. First of all, Christianity is not a religion. Religion is a word that means to deliver yourself by works. And the Bible is the opposite of religion. And then I said to myself, it wasn’t founded 2000 years ago, which is what the implication was that it was founded by Christ. It was founded by God in heaven before the foundations of the earth.

And so they missed it on two counts. Whoever wrote the article for world book in psychopedia didn’t have it together. So you can’t always trust your encyclopedia or what you read, but you can trust the Bible. The Bible has it right. And that’s what we’re reading from here. Now, all this was done and it might be fulfilled, which is spoken of the Lord by the prophet. And this is Isaiah. And it says, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son.

And they shall call his name Emmanuel. And Matthew helps us here because Immanuel is an untranslated Hebrew word and it means, look at what Matthew tells us, which being interpreted is God with us. So his very name Immanuel tells us something else, that he is God and he’s God who is with us now in a human form in the person of Jesus Christ. Some of the modern translations have tried to take away the word virgin because they just don’t believe in any of the miraculous at all.

The Good News Bible did that for a while until they got so much criticism for it that they put virgin back in, because there was an outcry that they took it away. But the Hebrew word translated virgin in Isaiah 714 is the Hebrew word Alma, A-L-M-A-H, A-L-M-A-H, Alma. And it is a word that means young maiden or young girl, and that’s the way the Good News Bible translated, a young girl shall conceive. But obviously that’s not a sign, is it?

The verse that a sign is what God would give. A young girl conceiving is not a sign that happens every day. But a virgin conceiving is a sign. And what is interesting, when you look up the word ALMA, every time it occurs in the Bible in the Old Testament, it is always of a young damsel or a young girl that was a virgin. But there is no room for error in the New Testament. God uses a word for virgin in the Greek language because they had a word that clearly meant virgin, and that’s the word that’s used here.

So in the Holy Spirit takes and quotes Isaiah 714 in the book of Matthew, quoting from Isaiah, the Greek word is used that means virgin. And so it says in verse 23 here, Behold a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth the son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which being interpreted as God with us. The virgin birth is important because it solves two problems. If Joseph was the real father of Jesus, the curse of Konaia would have been upon him, he could not have sat upon the throne of David.

He could not have been the Messiah. Also, if Joseph had been the real father of Jesus, then the sin nature passed on through the man would have been passed to Jesus. He would have been a sinner. Then he would have had to pay for his own sin. We needed an innocent Redeemer, one who could die to pay for the sins of another. And so Jesus Christ was without sin. And had he had Joseph as a father, he would have had the curse of Konaiah, plus he would have had the sin nature and could not have been our Savior.

Also, what is interesting, Mary and Joseph have four boys. Why couldn’t they have been the Messiah? And that’s answered by the same truth here. Because the curse of Konaiah was upon those four boys because Joseph was their father. So they could never sit upon the throne of David. So those four boys could not have been. They were disqualified right from the get-go because Joseph was their father. They had the curse of Kudayah. They could not sit upon the throne of David, but also they could not have been the Savior because they had the sin nature of Joseph and they were sinners.

And hence they were eliminated. The Savior had to be without sin. He had to be, as the Old Testament prophets called him, the Holy One, the only one in the human body that ever walk the earth that never committed a single act of sin. That was Jesus. And so here we have the story told. Verse 24, then Joseph being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had bitten him and took unto him his wife. Verse 25, and knew her not, that speaks about a sexual relationship, knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son, and He called His name Yeshua, or Jesus.

He did as He was instructed. He named this baby, not Matthew II, or Matthew Jr. Or some other name that might have been appropriate. He called him like the angel said he would be, he’d be Jesus. He’s Yeshua. But notice it talks about that Joseph didn’t know his wife sexually until after Jesus had been born. But then he did. And let’s look over and read about the children that Mary and Joseph had that were the natural children born after Jesus had been born.

So until Jesus was born, Joseph never had sex with Mary. But now let’s go over to Mark’s Gospel and let’s read about the children of Mary and Joseph. It says in Mark 6, page 1052, it says in verse 3, it’s not this the carpenter who are referring here to Jesus, in Mark 6, 3, it’s not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, The brother of, and now we have four brothers. Of course they were half brothers, or they were the natural children of Joseph and Mary.

The brother of James and Joseph and of Judah and Simon. There they are. Four-boy was named by name. And the Roman Catholic Church absolutely says no. She had no children. Never had a relationship with Joseph. How wrong could you be? And then it says, and are not his sisters here with us. Sisters we don’t have them named and we don’t know how many because it simply is plural, but it could have been more than two, two minimum, but six children that Mary and Joseph had in addition to Christ.

And there could have been three sisters, four sisters, five sisters, who knows how many? But they name at least six children here. And they were offended that. So here you have the story that Mary and Joseph did have children. the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception of Christ is not true. And of course the Catholics haven’t solved any problems. They just figured if they made Mary’s sinless, then that would explain why Christ was sinless. But it doesn’t really explain why Mary was sinless, except they just proclaim her to be so, and that she was immaculately conceived.

Her name, her mother’s name was Anne, or Anna. And so Mary, maybe Mary’s mother Anna, was immaculately conceived You’d have to work it all the way back to Adam, I guess, if you were to follow their theology, but they’re clearly wrong. Mary was in need of a savior. We’re living in a strange time when the Catholic Church is elevated, married to a different position than the real Mary of the Bible, where they really say that she was a co-redemptress, that she was involved in the salvation process with Christ is the co-redeemer.

Be sure to tune in to another edition of Bibleline from Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida Your name would be called out they’d read out of the books whatever good works you had done Whatever bad works you had done and then they would apply works on this great big scale angels would be busy as bees Loading weights up and you’d watch a weight being weighed or put on the scale for your good works and then more weights being placed there for your bad works and you’d watch the scale and fear and trembling and hope hope that you had more good works than bad works and that you’d make it into heaven.

Well obviously the Bible doesn’t teach anything like that. The Bible does not teach salvation by works and you know when I saw that phrase in Ephesians 2-9 for the first time after graduating from high school. It said, not of works. I said to myself, somebody’s wrong. Somebody’s wrong. Somebody’s wrong. Either my church is right and the Bible is wrong or the Bible is right and my church is wrong. It was so clear to me that somebody was wrong because the Bible said salvation was not of works.

My church taught it was of works and I chose the Bible. I think you could figure that one out. The Bible has to be right. So God obviously tells us that eternal life, salvation to be delirred from hell, to go to heaven, is a gift that is not of yourself. It is not of works, lest any man should boast its by mercy, not deserved, not merited, not based upon any effort that we put forth, but based upon the finished work of Jesus Christ.

And when we trust Him, God saves us. Wow, that was the best news I ever heard. I trusted Christ that very night. And you know that has changed my life forever. I knew from the moment I walked out of that room that I was going to heaven and if I wasn’t going to heaven then the Bible was a lie, God was a liar and I might as well light a match to my Bible and just forget the whole thing.

But I knew that God could not lie. I knew that if He said it and I believed it, that settled it and I knew I had eternal life when I left that room. And you know, I knew that week after week, month after month, I knew that God could not lie to me and that if I would trust Christ according to the Bible, who so ever believeth in him or would trust in him should not perish but have everlasting life?

Great news, isn’t it? And that was the best news I ever heard. I hope you’ve trusted Christ as your Savior. Many people though, pollute or change or pervert the message and add a little bit of works to it. It’s not Christ plus baptism. It’s not Christ plus confession. It’s not Christ plus walking the aisle. It’s not Christ plus joining the church. It’s not Christ plus keeping the commandments and I could go on and on and on and on. It’s Christ plus nothing.

It’s Jesus alone that is the Savior. And when you trust Him as the one who made the full payment for your sin, that’s when God saved you. And you can know you’re saved and know you’re saved eternally. And obviously Paul tells these people at Ephesus how they had been saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. And then he says over in verse 20, Now then you are no longer strangers or foreigners, but you are citizens of heaven. Did you know that if you’re a believer in Jesus alone, that you’re already a citizen of heaven, right now the Bible says you’re not a stranger to heaven.

You’re not a foreigner. You’re not somebody who’s intruding, somebody who’s out of place, you’re somebody who belongs there, and you are right now a citizen of heaven. Wow, I have a dual citizenship. I’m a citizen of the United States of America. But better than that, I’m a citizen of heaven, and that occurred when I trusted Christ as Savior. And my passport is the Bible. I trusted Christ. And because the Bible guarantees salvation to all the believe, I’ll be able to enter heaven one day because according to the Bible I’m already a citizen.

That occurred at the moment I trusted Christ. Gotta run, keep looking up. Jesus is coming, keep your eyes focused. On the Lord and serve him and share this good, good gospel with your family and friends, and I hope God will bless you richly. And Dr. Hank Lindstrom is saying, a Bible will be back tomorrow.
