We pray that Bibleline will be glorifying to God as well as educational for you through its combination of teachings from the Word of God and real-life questions with answers taken straight from the Bible as we continue Dr. Lindstrom’s ministry of spreading the the good news of salvation through simply trusting Jesus Christ alone as your Savior. Please plan on opening your Bible and joining us for this first by verse study of the Book of Matthew as we explore topics such as the conception and birth of Jesus, the visit of the Magi, the ministry of John the Baptist, and more.
Now join us as we begin Dr. Lindstrom’s teaching series and turn to the Book of Matthew, Chapter 1. Alright, here we go. Matthew chapter 1. There are four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. And the four Gospels each present a different picture of Christ or a different Poitreat of Christ. Matthew presents Christ as a king. And you’ll see that right up front as we begin tonight. Mark presents him as a servant. Luke presents Christ as a man. And John’s Gospel presents Christ as God.
And so each of those four portraits give us a complete picture of Christ. In Matthew chapter 1 we begin with a book that presents him as a king. It says in verse 1 the book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. So here we have the genealogy of Christ and if he’s to be king he has to come from a particular nation. And so we have Abraham mentioned that he’s the direct descendancy of Abraham.
Abraham was of course the beginner of the nation of Israel. Abraham and then Isaac and then Jacob, and Jacob’s name was changed to Israel. His twelve sons became the twelve tribes of Israel. Christ is directly related as to the flesh back to Abraham. Then notice it says here, the son of David. To be king, you would have had to be related to David. David was told by God that of his seed one day the Messiah would sit upon the throne of David ruling over Israel.
So the Messiah had to be related back to David and we find in this genealogy that Christ was related back to David. So David and Abraham are two important persons here. Abraham the beginning of the nation of Israel and David the king that God promised that of his seed one day the Messiah would sit upon the throne of David. Now in verse 2 we begin with Abraham. Abraham began Isaac and Isaac to beget Jacob. Jacob is the one who had his name changed to Israel.
Israel means child of God. And so Abraham, Jacob brother became saved and his name was changed from Jacob to child of God or Israel. Jacob began Judah and his brothers. Judah was one of the twelve sons and there were eleven of the brothers. So there were twelve sons of Jacob, they became the twelve tribes of Israel. And Judah is the one that’s significant because Christ came out of the tribe of Judah. In Revelation chapter 5 it says Christ is the lion of the tribe of Judah.
He’s the king. We come out of the tribe of Judah. And it says in verse 3, and Judah or Judas begat Pharezz, of and Zara of of Tamar. Now that was an illegitimate relationship. And so Pharez was an illegitimate child. And this put, like you might say, a blot on the lineage of Christ. Let’s look at Deuteronomy 23 for just a moment. And in Deuteronomy 23, we find that an illegitimate child could not enter into the congregation of the Lord for ten generations.
Deuteronomy 23 page 241. Look if you will at verse 2. A bastard, an illegitimate child, Deuteronomy 23.2, a bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord even to his tenth generation. Shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord? So there are ten generations that have, in a sense, a black mark on them. And it seems like God’s discussion of the line of Christ goes silent for ten years. There’s not really much or any mention at all.
Then let’s go over to the little book of Ruth. And we find that all of a sudden now the discussion re-emerges. I’ll give you the page number as soon as I get there. In the book of Ruth, page 318, you might remember the story of Ruth, a beautiful story of love between Ruth and Boaz. And we find here that it’s at this point that God is going to start talking about this line of the Messiah once again. We’re going to jump all the way to chapter 4 to verse 18 and notice it picks up from Genesis when Judas Had a son named for us and are you ready now?
We’re going to count ten generations get your pen and mark with me verse 18. These are the generations of for us He was generation number one. He was the illegitimate child He was the one that was the beginning of a ten generation curse upon the line For as we get hens run that’s generation number two if you’re marking in your Bible number two Verse 19, Hezron begat ram. That’s generation number three. Put a little three next to ram. Ram begat aminadab.
That’s generation number four. Aminadab verse 20 begat nation. That’s generation number five. Put a little five next to nation. nation begat salomon. That’s generation number six. Put a little six next to salomon. And then verse 21, and salomon begat boas. He’s generation number seven. Boas is the one who married Ruth and then it says Boaz begat Obed. He’s generation number eight, put a little eight next to Obed. Verse 22 and Obed begat Jesse, put a little nine next to Jesse and then Jesse begat David.
He’s number one, ten. And what happens? All of a sudden David comes along, God says to David of your seed, the Messiah will come and sit on your throne one day and all of a sudden we have God talking a lot about the coming Messiah again. So for ten generations God was somewhat silent as there was a curse on the line because Pharese was an illegitimate child. You can go back in Genesis and read the story about Judas and what he did there.
But this was an illegitimate child that he had. But yeah, used of God in the line and Tamar, the mother of that child, was also in the lineage and mentioned here in the book of Matthew. Notice how God in His grace uses sinners to accomplish his purpose. And let’s go to Matthew chapter 1 and we’ll take a look here as we can do the same count over here. Are you ready with your pen if you’re marking your Bible? We have in verse 3 Judas Begett Pharez.
Mark a little 1 next to Pharez, Matthew 1 3. Then Pharez begat Esran. That’s number 2. Put a little 2 next to Ezra. Ezra may get a ram in verse three and he’s generation number three, put a little three next to a ram. And in a ram, we get a minute ab. He’s number four, put a little four next to a minute ab in verse four. A minute ab, we get naysan, number five, and a little five next to him.
Naysan begets Solomon. There is again, put a little six next to Solomon. In Solomon, beget boas. He’s number seven, put a seven next to boas of Rahab. And then it says, and Boaz begat Obed. He’s number eight, put an eight next to Obed. And Obed begat Jesse, he’s number nine. And look at verse six. And Jesse begat David, he’s number ten. So you can mark the same count. Here as we found back in Ruth, and you could follow it through the book of Genesis also.
So it says in verse six, and Jesse begat David the king, and David the king begat Solomon. So here we have the Kingly line. The king before David was Saul. Saul was of the tribe of Benjamin, and Saul became a king that turned away from God, was disobedient. And so God turned to little David, who became the shepherd king, and he was of the tribe of Judah. Wasn’t that the promise? The Messiah would come through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, Pharese, down through David.
The King of the Lion now, through Solomon, and Solomon was born and had been the wife of what? Euryais. Or this was Bathsheba. So Bathsheba is in the listing here. And so… Her son Solomon was king and then we have in verse seven Solomon to get Robom and his son was rebellious and split the kingdom into 10 tribes in the north Israel to tribes in the south Judah and then it says here and Robom begat Abia and Abia begat Asa and Asa begat Jehoshaphat or Jehoshaphat and Joseph had begat Jorim and Jorim begat Oziah and then Oziah’s begat Joyphim.
and Joseph and begat Echas and Echas begat Ezekiel’s and Echas begat Manassus and Manassus begat Ammon and Ammon begat Josiah and verse 11 and Josiah’s begat Jacoboniah. Now here’s one you want to mark again and Jacoboniah was a very wicked king and he’s also known as Konaiah, C-O-N-I-A-H and he’s Konaiah or Jacoboniah and he was King along with his brothers about the time they were carried away to Babylon. So here we come down to the Babylonian captivity when Nebuchadnezzar came against Babylon, conquered Jerusalem and destroyed the temple, carried away the captives over into Babylon.
Among them was Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And we find that it was about that time that Jeck and I was around. Now let’s go back to Jeremiah 22 and take a look at this wicked king, Konaiah, or Jekoniah. You’re listening to Bible Eye, a teaching ministry that’s dedicated to delivering the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are many items available from our resource center, such as Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s DVD Teachings on the topics of Lost People Seeking God.
Are we in the latter days? And scientific facts, in addition to many others when you call 1-800-576-3771. Now we’re going to take a break from our teaching to listen to Dr. Lindstrom answering questions from callers and then we’ll rejoin today’s teaching. We have Neil in the land, Florida and Neil, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Okay, dr. Hank I have two questions if I can ask him go ahead the first one is Who or what is the source of the tribulation?
Didn’t it coming up to relation period? Yes, the source of that Well, it’s part of God’s plan for the ages, you know He told us that long ago that there would be this seven-year period Which would be the conclusion of the Old Testament Daniel chapter 9 is a very very very foundational passage passage, and it talks about a prophecy of 70 weeks of years or 490 years. 483 years would take us to the death of Christ, Daniel 926, where he’d be crucified to pay for our sins.
And then there would be a big gap or interval where God would slip in this present church age which began at Pentecostal into the Rapture. And once the Rapture happens, the last seven years will tick off the clock and is called in Jeremiah chapter 30, the time of Jacob’s trouble. Jacob, remember his name was changed to Israel, his twelve sons became the twelve tribes of Israel. And so it’s a time when God is going to go back to his plan for Israel, an earthly kingdom that he will establish will occur at the end of those seven years.
And the seven years are really a time of coming to a conclusion to the Old Testament Age of Law and bringing about this wonderful kingdom of peace on earth, Gidwil toward men, where Christ will come back out of the heavens with all of His power, all of His glory, defeat the armies of this world at Armageddon and establish a kingdom of peace on earth for a thousand years. who in this seven years who is the major source of that tribulation?
Well, Satan is definitely very active. He will try to control the world. His man, the antichrist that he will indwell, will be the false Christ. He will attempt to conquer and control the whole world and rule the earth from Jerusalem. You read in Daniel 11 that the inner Christ will establish his palace in Jerusalem and he will rule the western world from Jerusalem and he will be the false Christ. So Satan empowers him and Satan obviously is attempting to defeat God’s plan and he will attempt to set up his kingdom which of course will not happen.
Here is my second question. These seven years are the same as the tribulation period, the seven years of Israel. Yes, absolutely. Alright, Neil, thank you for listening there in to Land Florida and we’re now going to go to Bob in Oldsmar, Florida. Bob will come to Bible and you’re on the air. Good morning Pastor Mr. Smith, good to hear from you. Thank you. I’ve just got a few things I’d like you to comment on. I’ve been listening to you talking about Bible versions and I got worried about mine.
So I got on your website and downloaded, be aware of scribes. And it took me four or five hours and I went through all 65 lines. And I only had to change two words and I left three alone. So I have every confidence now in my new King James open Bible. Good. And I thought maybe you could comment on that. And then on that same website there’s… online books, the screen that comes up has articles by, books by Stanford’s Goldfield and Iron Side.
And I would encourage your listeners to click on to them because there’s a tremendous amount of great information on there. And Dr. Stanford’s got an article on predestination. It’s the very best article I’ve ever seen or heard on predestination. and I’m in the process of memorizing that, so I can answer questions on it. And I wouldn’t mind seeing two or three more of these type of scholars put on that screen. And then the third thing is the state of Christian broadcasting, and I’m very, very discouraged because I get seven-rate channels.
And only about a quarter of what I hear could you call it, rightly dividing the word of God. And people are trying to put us back under the law again, And I don’t see how you can read the Pauline epistles and come to that conclusion, especially if you read Romans 7 and 8 where the law is nailed to the cross. So I don’t understand that. And then the last thing is the churches. I’ve attended a lot of churches here many, many times.
And I’ve yet to hear sermon on the Pauline epistles, which the information was given from God from the ascended Christ himself to Paul who related to us it’s for our time and for our age and yet we don’t hear anything about it now hang up and just listen to your comments thank you very much thank you Bob you got a lot in there real quickly obviously the translations today are faulty and including the new King James there are a number of things that they do there that are kind of subtle and we have a sheet that we send out for those who are questioning where it changes things.
But it does affect the doctrine of salvation and many of the doctrines and so it’s not just changing of the archaic words and bringing them up to speed. But that book that you mentioned is on our website, it’s called New Age Bible Versions and a very powerful treatment, about 800 pages that will expose about 20 of the new translations end of their problems. On our website we do have a lot of things for you and you mentioned the online books that we have and we have three there right now and we need to add some more but they are wonderful and of course that first one is the book, head book on personal evangelism and Dr.
Stanford does have a wonderful simplification of predestination in that particular book and You can really download the whole book for free if you want. There if you’ve got enough paper in your paper drawer of your printer. And just go there and bring it up and download as much or as little as you like. And also the other books there by Dr. Stanford, excuse me, Dr. Schofield. And then we have my Harry Ironside, a wonderful book there on wrongly dividing the word of truth as we have the one by a C.I.
Schofield on rightly dividing the word. Well you’re right though, churches today are not teaching the word and that’s the problem. And if they only did some kind of a systematic study of the word of God, we would get the full counsel of God. But I’m afraid that churches today are just giving us snippets and oftentimes they are out of context and are not properly presented. Bob, thank you for your call and we’re now going to go to Troy in Newport, Ritchie and Troy.
Welcome to my blind. you are on the air. Good morning. My question is, how concerned is God with the words that proceed out of our mouth? And how concerned is he with the accuracy of our speech? And if you can give me scriptures to research and reference for this, I would greatly appreciate it. Oh, you sure. Sure. You know, God is concerned. And obviously, what we say is very significant. And in John’s gospel, Jesus has a couple of places, I believe, where he says that Their own words would…
I think it’s a great idea to condemn them because obviously one day I think God will play back what we have said and what we have spoken. And if we have not believed on Christ and our rejection of Christ there will be, I think, played back in our ears and the fact that we’ve had opportunities to hear the gospel I think will be shown to us and that would be foolish. Anyway, it says here in Luke chapter 12 you might want to look this up.
It says, there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, verse 2 of Luke 12. Neither hid that shall not be known. Therefore, whatsoever you have spoken, and here you have it, Troy, therefore whatsoever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light. And that which you have spoken in the ear, in closets, shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. So you need to be careful what you say. That’s a good passage. And Troy, I hope that helps you.
And there are many more. And I think if you had a concordance, you’d be able to easily find those and get a list of them. I’m going to go now to Melissa in Lakeland, Florida. Melissa, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hi, Dr. Hake. My question is regarding, again, the difference between baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus and baptism by the Holy Spirit. In Acts 8, where it speaks about the people of Samaria believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God and it says they were baptized but then it says later on I guess that they had not received the Holy Spirit and they had to have the apostles lay their hands on them in order to receive the Holy Spirit.
So how do you know whether or not you’re really going to receive the Holy Spirit or not? Okay well the Holy Spirit is received at the moment of belief. Every believer receives the Holy Spirit. In John 7 verse 39 Jesus said the Holy Spirit would be received upon belief or trust in Christ as Savior. You will have the same thing there that these that are in Acts 8 were water baptized but they had not received the Holy Spirit. That tells us they were not saved.
In Romans 8 and 9 it says if any man have not the Spirit of Christ he is none of his. So the apostles having discernment came and followed up on these that Philip had preached to and discovered they were not saved because they did not have the Holy Spirit. And then upon their understanding of the gospel as they more fully went over it, they believed and received the Holy Spirit on the site. So the baptism of the Holy Spirit occurs at the moment of belief and then water baptism follows.
Well Melissa, I hope that helps a little bit. That’s basically what’s going on there. You can be baptized with water but never be saved. And this is what happened there in Acts 8. They were not saved even though they had been water baptized. But the most important baptism is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 12, 13, it says every believer has that. It says, by one Spirit are we all, A-L-L, baptized into one body. Whether we be Jew or Greek or Bond or free, we’ve all been made to drink into one Spirit.
And it’s really the placing of the believer into the very body of Christ. in verse 27 tells us the consequence that now you are the body of Christ and members of particular and that occurs at the moment of belief. You become a member of Christ’s body and you become saved at that moment and then water baptism should follow which is a ceremony that basically illustrates the washing of our sin by the blood of Christ but the water doesn’t take away the sin.
Is there any significance in the fact that they, the apostles laid their hands on them in order for them to receive the Holy Spirit? No, I don’t think so. I think really what they were doing is that they probably had their arms around these guys and were explaining and prayed for them and as they understood it they believed the laying on of hands had nothing to do with it. Okay, thank you very much. You’re very welcome Melissa. We hope that you’re learning with us as you listen to this question and answer segment featuring Dr.

To pledge your support for Bibleline, give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. We’re living in a time when we’re experiencing a lack of Bible. It seems like churches have kind of turned the spicket off where the Bible is not really being taught anymore. And I know that that’s kind of a scary thing as we find that the Word of God is becoming more and more scarce. Let’s take a look at the Bible and we find in the prophet Amos in the Old Testament.
says in verse 11, Behold the days come, sayeth the Lord God, that I will send a famine in land. Not a famine of bread, nor a famine for thirst of water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. I think we’re entering into that famine, and I think it’s only gonna get worse. And in the tribulation period, it’ll be very difficult to hear the word of God. Let me quote that again, Amos 811, and the speaking of the last days here on the planet.
and it says, behold, the days come, sayeth the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. Wow. So we find here that it’ll be more difficult. And I think it’s happening, and it’s amazing to me that preachers have failed to follow the charge that God has given to them. Let me just review that charge with you If you might, and you might want to look at it with me in 2 Timothy 4, we find here is the charge given to every pastor, every preacher.
It says in verse 1 of 2 Timothy 4, I charge the therefore, before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom? Well Christ is the judge, and he will come back and judge when he comes back, and it It says here he’ll judge the quick and the dead. What’s that talking about? Well quick is an old English word. It means those that are living. So it’s talking about he’ll judge the living and those that have died at his appearing.
This is talking about the rapture. This is talking about the Judge of the City of Christ. This is talking about Christ evaluating believers. We’re going to have to give an account. This is written in the charges here to believers. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is going to judge the living, that is those that are caught up at the rapture to meet the Lord in the air, and those that have already died who are believers that will be given their resurrection bodies at that point in time when Christ returns.
And it says, notice it’s at his appearing. So we find here that Jesus is the judge and he’s going to have us accountable. Verse two, what are we going to be judged concerning? Well, number one here, preach the word. Amazingly, the word of God is like a scarce thing to find anymore. The famine is here. And it says, preach the word. This is the charge to every believer. Be instant into season, out of season. In other words, there is no special season for the preaching of the word of God.
It should be in season, out of season, even when people don’t wanna hear it. God says it needs to be preached. reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. And it says why? Verse 3. And here we have it, and this is what we’re living now, seeing, for the time will come. I believe it has come. This is 2 Timothy 4-3. For the time will come, I believe it has come, when they will not endure sound doctrine. They will not endure it.
What it means is they will not want to hear sound doctrine. They won’t endure it. And we’ll put up with it. But after their own lusts, they’ll heap to themselves teachers having itching ears. They want to have their ears tickled. They want to hear what they want to hear and not what the Bible has to say. And so in verse 4, they’ll turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned unto fables. That’s right. Amazing, isn’t it?
It says the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine. We’re living now in that particular time in history. And we find more than ever people are wanting to be entertained. They really aren’t concerned about what kind of message is being given. They just want to be entertained. And look at how entertainment has taken over in the worship services today. You don’t read anything in the book of Acts in the early church of praise and worship. Nothing.
It doesn’t say that they came together for praise and worship. It says they came together in Acts chapter 2 after the preaching of Peter at Pentecost. It says for the apostles doctrine, they came to learn the word of God. What has happened today? We’re going to rejoin stations that have been on breaking to the second half hour by one. We hope that you’re learning with us as you listen to Bibleline and hear real-life questions with scriptural answers from Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Please make plans to join us and open your Bible as we also present in-depth studies covering a variety of biblical topics Now let’s return to our question and answer segment and then you’ll hear more Bible teaching from Dr. Hank Lindstrom We’re now going to go to James in Seminole, Florida and James welcome to Bibleline you are on the air Good morning, sir.
Good morning I’m referring today to First Thessalonians 416. I have a quote from Jack Consella of the Omega Report and that quote is, if that event is to take place at some point after all the Christians are massacred by the Antichrist, post-next words make very little sense, wherefore comfort one another with these words. Now the question is, if there is no rapture as per the Proteress and the post-Tribbers that say, after the trip, why is this verse and then in the Bible.
Well the whole point is that we don’t go through the Tribulation period at all. Obviously the next event in God’s program is the Rapture. As 1st Thessalonians 1-10 leads us to believe it says we’re to wait not for the Tribulation, we’re to wait for his son from heaven which has delivered us from the wrath which is to come. So we go out and then the Tribulation takes place and that’s when of course so many will be martyred for the faith but we’re going, I’m leaving.
And I believe that it could be as soon as this year or today we’re about ready to be snatched out of here. And then the darkest hours of human history will play out on the earth. And that’s a time when God is going to be going back to his plan for Israel and the earthly kingdom that he’s promised to them, a thousand years of kingdom, a peace on earth good will toward men, the kingdom that he promised from the very beginnings of the earth.
And so Israel is going to be benefited and they will go through a difficult time but they’re going to survive and many millions of Jews will become saved and recognize Christ as their king and welcome him back to the earth. So that’s the plan. I agree with that. By the way, one other quick point. About two or three weeks ago I saw on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric website 162 What way about the ocean? One of the Bible I forget might have been Luke or says that those sea in the wave will be roaring in the end days.
I think that is a very significant. All these things are happening. I saw this morning a big volcano is erupted in Mexico. We know one last week erupted down in Chile, one had been dormant for 10,000 years, all of a sudden spewing up volcanic ash and lava. earthquakes and diverse places. We just seen so many get killed there in China and they’ve had a second earthquake. And now also there’s a second storm coming toward Burma where over a hundred thousand people were killed.
And while so many things happening all over the world that really leads to believe that the signs are everywhere, a binajab just said, I think yesterday that Israel is doomed, that they’re going to be destroyed. And a binajab of Iran wants to be the guy to do that. We’re living in a very interesting time when I think in-time prophecies are coming to light and such an accelerated rate of these things. More and more every day you can keep track of all the things in the paper every day that relate to prophecy that I think we’re very close.
Very close. He’s coming to film. Amen. Thank you. We thank you James for calling in and we’re now going to go to, let’s see here, we have Linda in Dunedin and Linda, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Hank, how are you? Good. I have a comment because you just mentioned Luke 122, where it says, for there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, neither hid that shall not be known. the comment on that yesterday I listened to an interview by the professor of physics at MIT and his comment was it’s not what you cover, it’s what you uncover.
I thought that was quite interesting. But getting back to the callerveland’s question before the gentleman’s where they were asking for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. That is something that we ask the Father. ยท Jesus is the baptizer through the Holy Spirit. So when we ask for that prayer language that is going beyond all understanding on Satan’s part because he cannot understand that prayer language. Let me just stop you. First of all, we don’t ask for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
It’s something that occurs naturally for every believer at the moment of belief. And then there’s nothing in the Bible about any secret prayer language. That is absolutely nonsense and is made up by people who are trying to find a reason for the gibberish that they find themselves with, which I believe is a cuddle counterfeit of the gift of tongues in the Bible. You know when people try to tell me about a prayer language, God understands English, and it’s not to try to hide the message from Satan either.
It’s simply what is being done today is people have this gibberish which is done by all the world religions which is not from God, which is from Satan to begin with, and it doesn’t communicate to anybody. The first verse that they tried to use to support that is in the book of Romans in chapter 8, where it says likewise the spirit also help with our infirmities, for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the spirit himself make a thinner session for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And I’ve been in meetings where people are groaning and whatever, and they’re trying to tell me this is the heavenly language that they have. But I tell them this can’t be. Why? Because at the end of chapter 8 of Romans verse 26 it says these are groanings of the Holy Spirit which cannot be uttered. If any peep, if any noise, it’s audible, comes out of your mouth, then it’s not from God. So these are inaudible utterings of the Holy Spirit as He intercedes on our behalf and praise for us.
And then of course they also say that these are the tongues of angels. If you look over in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 and 13, it says here, and though I speak with the tongues of Ben and angels, well, they try to say that what they’re saying is in a tongue of an angel, so that’s why nobody can understand it. And again, they haven’t read their Bible because if you read through your Bible, angels are eloquent in their speech. And they’re always understood by their hearers.
You cannot show me an example in the Bible where an angel ever spoken was not understood by the hearer. You know when the angel Gabriel came to marry at Nazareth and told her that she was pregnant with the Holy, the child of the Holy Spirit, and that her child would be this one who would be great and called the son of the highest. And this would be Jesus. The angel didn’t speak in some gibberish. She didn’t say, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
And Mary said, my God, what is he saying? He’s very plain Mary. Fear not. You’re highly favored about women. And he explains and has a conversation with her and she dialogues with the angel. So angels speak very plain in whatever language they’re speaking in. And so we’re living in a day of very much of confusion. And there is no secret prayer languages. That reminds me when I was a kid and we had to get the cereal box to get the secret decoder ring to be able to understand our friends when they wanted to communicate secret messages back and forth.
And that God doesn’t do that. There’s no need to do that. And obviously that’s not true. We’re now going to go to Gary in Deltona, Florida. Gary, welcome to By Blind. You’re on the air. Good morning, pastor. I’ve been to your church. I’m Gary from Deltona. Wonderful. And I was just reading in Romans about Romans 10, 13, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. I believe that’s talking about a saved person How can you call upon the Lord without being saved?
And I was reading in 2nd Timothy Where it talks about that we call upon the Lord with a pure heart? I’m gonna hang up right now pastor. I enjoy your show. Could you comment on this? Well the one in Romans is talking about a salvation experience because whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. The Lord there is Yeshua and Yeshua in English is Jesus and Jesus is God who would come and take on human flesh and die to pay for our sins.
calling upon the Lord really is prayer. And we find throughout the Bible It says back in Genesis chapter 4 that men began to call upon the name of the Lord. So, we find that wherever you read that expression it’s really praying or calling upon God. And when you call upon the name of Jesus, as the only means of your salvation, then God saves you. But obviously after you’re saved as well, we still call upon Him for our needs as a believer.
But to be saved, that’s the way we become saved. We connect with God when we call upon Him to be our Savior. And Jesus is the Savior. We’re talking about that. Gary, I hope that helps a little bit. And we’re now going to move on to SIBO or CBO in Riverview, Florida. And welcome to Bibleline You’re On The Air. Yes. Wow. I had a question about when Nick had been visited Jesus. And this is on the water baptism When he asked him and here in scripture and let me see John three five Yes, how can a man be born when he is old and Nicodemus asked surely?
He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and Jesus answered I tell you the truth no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the spirit and He’s talking not about baptism at all. There’s the word B. A. P. T. I Z. E. D. It’s not in the verse at all It’s B-O-R-N. There’s a tremendous difference. If I were to send somebody to go water baptized, I would probably direct them to a church.
But if there’s a mother expecting a baby, I would send her to the hospital. There’s a tremendous difference between being born and being baptized. They’re not the same at all. And Christ is talking here about a birth and the birth of water there in John On 3-5 is the natural birth where you’re enclosed in a sack of water in your mother’s womb. And then when that water cycle breaks, you’re out, you come and you’re born naturally. Then it says there’s a birth of the spirit and that is the one you need to have to be saved.
Verse 6, Jesus says that which is born of the flesh is flesh, that’s the water birth, the natural birth and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Totally separate and different. And in verse 7 says, Marvel not that I said unto you, you must be born again. Everybody already has the water birth. When we come into this world after our mother’s water sac breaks, we come out and are born. Then we get the second birth, the birth of the Spirit.
That’s the one that’s essential to salvation. That happens at the moment of belief. There is no water baptism in John 3. There’s a birth of water. Okay. So we understand. Thank you very much for clarifying that. You’re very welcome and thank you. Many people take John 3 and make baptism out of it, and there’s not even anything close to baptism in that chapter.
That concludes today’s question and answer segment. There’s no other topic that is more important to us than the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and it was Dr. Hank Lindstrom’s mission to spread the Gospel. Through your support for Bibleline, you too can help to spread the Gospel of Christ throughout the world and to reach others with the message of salvation through Jesus. Now join us as we return to today’s teaching series. Now let’s go back to Jeremiah 22 and take a look at this wicked king, Konaiah or Jekoniah. God got really irritated with this guy. Not only was he against God in his word, but he took a copy of God’s word with his penknife and cut it up in little pieces. Now you want to make God mad mess with his word. And God got very mad with Konaiah. So mad, he makes an announcement which is for the whole earth to hear.
Jeremiah 22.29 says on page 7.95, page 7.95, look at verse 29, oh earth, earth, earth, here the Lord of the Lord. He wanted everybody on the earth to hear it. Verse 30, thus say of the Lord, write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days, for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting on the throne of David and ruling anymore in Judah. So what do we learn here? That God now places a curse on the line from Konaiah or Jecconiah on down and anybody that was physically descendant from Konaiah could not sit upon the throne of David.
It looked like how could the promise of God be fulfilled? The Messiah had to sit upon the throne of David. Here’s the man directly in line, Konaiah or Jechoniah, and now God says, write this man childless and nobody related to him can ever sit upon the throne of David. Wow, and when you go back to Matthew, we go through the genealogy, they’re all related to Jechoniah, including Joseph, who was the husband of Mary of whom was born Jesus. So what is going to take place?
Well, the answer, of course, is the fact that Joseph was not the real Father of Christ. Had Joseph been the Father of Jesus, then the curse of Konaia would have been upon Jesus, and he could not have been the Messiah. Isn’t that interesting? And so the virgin birth and the fact that God was the Father of the flesh that Mary bore, the flesh that God would take upon Himself, circumvented this curse that was on all the sense of Kani’a on down.
What is interesting though is that Mary and Joseph had other children after Jesus was born. They had at least six children, minimum. They had four boys that are named by name and sisters, so that means a minimum of two. So that means four plus two of six kids after Jesus is born. And if there were three girls, it would have been seven children. If there were four girls that would have been eight children, if there were five girls that would have been nine children, we don’t know the total number because it doesn’t tell us how many girls.
But it does name four boys were born to Mary and Joseph. Now the Roman Catholics of course deny that. They tell us that Mary was perpetually a virgin, that she never had sex with Joseph and that’s not true. She had children by Joseph, at least six children that were their natural children. And the Roman Catholics, of course, teach the doctrine, call the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception. A lot of people think that they’re talking about the virgin birth of Christ.
The Immaculate Conception is not about the virgin birth of Christ. The Immaculate Conception is a doctrine that says that Mary was conceived without sin. And that’s the way they explain that Christ was sinless. They said he had a sinless mother. And so Mary was born without sin. Not true. Look over in the New Testament, look at a couple of verses real quick. Luke 1, 47. What does Mary say? In Luke chapter 1 verse 47 we have Mary telling us that she needed a Savior.
Why? Because she was a sinner also. She was a godly woman, certainly a wonderful example of a believer who in simple faith trusted God through this momentous event that she was about to be the major player in, but she also had the trust in Christ as her Savior. Luke 1, 47, page 1072, Mary says in verse 46, my soul death magnified the Lord. Verse 47, my Spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. Why did Mary need a Savior if she was without sin?
She needed a Savior, didn’t she? So she was a sinner like all the rest of us. But the reason why Christ was without sin is because of the virgin birth. And sin apparently is passed on through the man and Jesus did not have a father, a human father, but God was the father of that child. So let’s go back to Matthew and we’ll read on here as we follow the genealogy and this is in afterwards verse 12 after the Babylonian captivity, they were brought to Babylon and And Jacob and I, as we get Salathiel, and Salathiel beguat Zora Babel, and Zora Babel beguat Abajad, or Abba, I got it, my Bible, Markah, I can’t even read the word there.
But Abba, Abba, beguat, Elachim, and Elachim beguat, Azor, and Azor beguat, Sadak, and Sadak beguat, Akim, and the Kim beguat, Eliod, and Eliod beguat, Eliezer, and Eliezer beguat Nathan and Nathan begat Jacob and then over 16 and Jacob begat Joseph and if you just follow the way this rhythm is going it most likely would have read in Joseph begat Jesus but it doesn’t say that. Look at verse 16 and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.
Notice the Bible clearly teaches the verge of birth and that Joseph was not the father. Joseph did not begat Jesus. Joseph was the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus. And Mary was, of course, impregnated by God himself. And so the father was not a human father. Verse 17 says, and so all the generations from Abraham to David are 14 generations. There are three groups here. And then from David until the carrying away in the Babylon are 14 generations.
And from the carrying away in the Babylon and to Christ are 14 generations. Interestingly, how it breaks into three blocks of 14. 14 generations from Abraham to David, then from David to the Babylonian captivity, 14 generations, and from the Babylonian captivity up until Christ, or 14 generations, or a total of three groups of 14 generations, take us from Abraham to Christ. Now look at verse 18. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise. When, as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, look at the next phrase, before they came together, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.
So here they had not had a sexual relationship, but it became known that Mary was pregnant. Word got out. Apparently it was evident that she was carrying a child. And Joseph, poor guy, he was facing a real dilemma here. Look at what his thoughts were all about here. Joseph, her husband, being a just man, not willing to make her a public example. He could have had her stone to death, publicly stone by the people, but he didn’t want to do that.
He didn’t want that to happen to Mary. Then the second choice, he was minded to put her away privately, to put away means to divorce. He could have divorced her if she had a child by adultery. And so he was thinking about, I’m just going to privately write a writing of divorcement and get rid a Mary. End of Mary. End of story. Anyway, he was troubled and he was thinking through these options, which these were the two options he had was to make her a public example or to divorce her privately.
Verse 20, while he thought on these things, you can imagine Joseph was really doing some heavy thinking here. He was very disturbed. She’s pregnant. He’s not the Father. He knows it. And while he thought on these things, behold, the angel the Lord appeared into him in a dream saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee, Mary thy wife. Let me tell you how she became pregnant. It says for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
Wow. Joseph wipes the sweat off his brow and says, in my relief, God has a plan here. Verse 21, and she brought she shall bring forth a son and thou shall call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.” So here notice God tells Joseph that she’s going to have a male child. You know, that was before today with the sonograms. You know, it’s only been rather recent that parents know and advance what sex they’re going to have.
They would always get ready for either sex. Thanks for listening to Bibleline with Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We would like to continue with Dr. Lindstrom’s teaching, but we are out of time for today. Be sure to tune in to another edition of Bibleline from Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida. They came to learn the Word of God what has happened today because obviously this is not what is happening today. And we are living in a time when they are not enduring the teaching of sound doctrine, that they are actually heaping to themselves teachers when their ears to be tickled and they’re turning away their ears from the truth and are being turned unto fables.
Well this is something that’s not new. The Word of God has warned about this time and how that we are experiencing it right now. I was raised in church. I went through every process my church had to offer, but yet I was never, never saved. And that’s sad. And when I finally got saved at age 18, I wondered, how could this happen? How could I go through 18 years of church and never hear the truth about how to be saved?
Well, obviously that is typical of this time in which we’re living in. And we are more and more seeing that today as we find the Word of God is not being preached. Old Testament foretold also this time of spiritual famine, and we just read about it from Amos 8 verse 11. A famine would come, and it would not be for bread nor for thirst for water, but for the hearing of the Word of God. That’s the kind of time we’re living in now.
And you know, maybe you’re hearing today the Word of God, and if you have been searching, My friend, God will make sure that you hear the gospel message before you die. And maybe you’re hearing it today for the first time. It’s the message of the death, the barrel, the resurrection of Christ. And when you trust that Jesus died for your sins and paid for them in full by His death and shed blood was buried and then rose again from the dead, God says that He saves you.
It’s a wonderful gift. And there’s nothing that we can do. He did it all. He paid it all. And obviously, the moment you trust Christ, according to the Bible, you receive this wonderful gift of eternal life. Most people think that you have to wait until after you die to find out whether you have eternal life or not. And that, of course, is because they have heard a false message all their life, and they’re counting on their works. And because their works haven’t all been completed and done, and they have to wait until those Those works are weighed in some great big scale one day.
They have to wait until after they die until all the works are in and they can weigh them all and calculate whether you deserve to make heaven or not. That’s not what the Bible teaches. The Bible teaches our sins were paid for 2,000 years ago at the cross in full. Because they’re fully paid for, you can receive at the moment you believe everlasting life because it’s already paid for. Your salvation has been purchased. God is offering it to you as a gift.
And if you simply receive it by faith, by trusting that Jesus Christ died for you, God saves you. Somebody once said that faith is the hand that reaches out and takes the gift from God’s hand. God is offering eternal life for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Now you could have everlasting life if you would only place your trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior Would you do that right now?
Just whisper the prayer Lord. I’m a sinner. I don’t understand much But right now I trust Jesus Christ as the one who died and paid for my sins at the cross of Calvary and I receive right now that wonderful gift by trusting that Jesus Christ died to pay for my sins and and wishes to offer me eternal life by simply trusting him. I hope you’ve done it. It’s the most important decision you’ll ever make in your life. In any case, we’ve got to run, but we’ll be back tomorrow.
So keep looking up. Jesus is coming. We’ll move soon. God bless and have a great day. We’ll see you tomorrow at your own Bibleline.
