Bibleline Radio Show – 2006-06-08 – Repentance

Repent of Sin. This often-quoted phrase “repent of sin” does not even occur in the Bible. Most people are quite shocked to find that it does not appear in the Scripture. Nowhere does the Scripture use the phrase, “repent of sin” to be saved. Scripture does say in Acts 20:21, “repentance toward God” (change of mind), and “faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Our resource center opened from about 8.30 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon, Eastern time, and of course our worship services on Sunday at 10.30 in the morning, 6.00 p.m. in the evening with Adult Education and Sunday School at 9.15. Our internet is right now carrying today’s program. You can go to Bibleline The line ministry is not ORG or not-com and click on the spinning globe in the upper right-hand corner and you’ll be connected to two red buttons.

The one red button will take you to today’s show. The other will take you to the archives. Today’s our television day. That’s right. We’re on TV today. This morning on the dish at 7 AM, that’s already passed. That was nationwide at 8 o’clock on WMR TV in Tampa, Channel 32. And at 6.30 tonight, nationwide on Direct TV, channel 321 World Harvest Television, and then tonight at 7 on the West Coast of Florida, we are on the channel 22 CTN, which carries all the way to Fort Lauderdale, rather Fort Myers, and all the way up to Crystal River over to the middle of the state.

We had a call just a few days ago from Sebring. My aunt in Avon Park watches us and so we’re seeing all over the West Coast including a lot of Central Florida. Check that out, that’s our television program, Bibleline, and also our TV program Bible Line is now airing in Mongolia. That’s right. I’m just as shocked as you are as I met the manager of that station out in Dallas a couple of months ago and we hit it off and he is running our programs are going to be translating shortly into Mongolian so that people actually see our Bible and program but hear the voice in Mongolian.

That ought to be special to watch. I think I ought to fly over there and get my own TV set and watch the program but I’m not going to be able to do that. But anyway, it sounds like a fun thing to do. We’re going to be talking about the Bible, then we’re going to be taking our callers and some are already calling in, some have left off-air questions and we’ll try to get to as much as we can today and hopefully you’re there enjoying the program.

Call somebody. Tell them, hey, tune in. Bible on is on the air right now. Can you think of somebody? Give them a quick call, get your cell phone out or your hardline and dial somebody up and say, hey, turn Bible on. It’s run on right now and the station and the frequency and get them to tune in. Gotta say what about repentance? It seems like a doctrine that is so wrong, most people get it wrong. In fact, the phrase repent of sin, quote, unquote, this often phrase repent of sin does not even occur in the Bible.

Isn’t that incredible? I heard that so often, so many years by so many preachers, I thought it was on every page of the Bible. It does not occur once. Zero. Zero times. Z-E-R-O is how many times the phrase repent of sin occurs in the Bible. Now, I need to say this and make it clear because I said this before and people call up and say, He said that repentance is not in the Bible. I never said that. Repentance is in the Bible.

We’re going to define it. But the phrase quote unquote repent of sin is not found in your Bible. Most people are quite shocked to find this out, that it doesn’t appear in the Bible at all. Nowhere in the scripture does the phrase, repent of sin ever occurred, nor is it ever used of a requirement for salvation. Yet how many evangelists tell us, Repent of sin in order for you to be saved? Well, what the scripture does say is in Acts 20, 21, repentance toward God, and that’s a change of mind toward God, is what the Greek word means and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

That’s Acts 20, 21. Repentance is a translation of the Greek word metanoia. The literal meaning of metanoia is a change of mind. Metamines change. Noia means mind. My Schofield Bible, first edition came out a 1909 has a footnote on page 1174 in Acts 17 and it has repentance right a hundred years ago. This is not something brand new, not something I discovered, but good Bible scholars all recognize this was a bad translation. Meta means change, noia means mine, so therefore metanoia the two Greek words together mean a change of mine.

Before learning about metanoia I’m sure that you’re already familiar with the prefix meta. There’s a word that we often hear metamorphosis. Metamorphosis means form or structure. The word metamorphosis is used to describe the change a caterpillar goes through to become a beautiful butterfly. I’m sure you’ve studied about this change of form. therefore is metanoia, men of change, noia mind a change of mind. The misuse of the word repentance has caused untold confusion among believers and unbelievers alike. Also, it has been a way Satan has been able to add works to the final salvation because if you have to turn away from sin or change your conduct, either toward God or man is that add an element of human works or human effort to salvation.

Satan, of course, is the author of confusion, and he must be delighted in how this mistranslation occurred. All defines in terms here, penance is a payment for sin, penance is sorrow for sin, works in something of self is turning from sin, but repentance, the Greek word betadoya, means a change of mind. Repentance and salvation means a change of mind from any idea of religion that man might have and accepting God’s way of salvation. Man’s great need is to understand God’s way of salvation and accept his sacrifice for God’s soul of the world that he gave is only begotten son, the whosoever believed within him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Why do we have a problem? Well, the problem has come about because metanoia should have never been translated into the English word repent. If you go to your English dictionary, repent the English word does not mean the same thing as the Greek word metanoia. Perhaps the translator should have done what is called a transliteration of the Greek word. For example, the translators of the King James Bible took the Greek word Babtizo, dropped the O, replaced it with an E, they brought the new word baptized into the English language.

This is called a transliteration. They should have done this with Metanoia, and the problem would have been eliminated. Can you imagine preachers howering to their congregations, Metanoia! Well, at least we look up the Greek word and find out the correct meaning. Unfortunately, preachers are going to their English dictionary and are giving us the definition of the word repent, which is the word that is equivalent to the Greek word metanoia. If you understand this next phrase I’m going to give, you’ll understand the doctrine of repentance.

A person may repent without believing, but a person cannot believe without repenting. What does that mean? You can repent without believing. You can change your mind about Christ, about salvation, about works for salvation, or whatever it might be, and not believe or not trust Christ as Savior. But you cannot believe or trust Christ as Savior without having changed your mind in the process. So you cannot believe without repenting, but you can repent without believing. Did you get it? Let me say it again.

You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. If you understand that, you’ve got it down. You can repent, you can change your mind and not believe on Christ. But you cannot believe on Christ without having changed your mind from whatever you’re previously trusting in, to trusting in Jesus. Satan has been successful. You know, it’s amazing to me. Preachers don’t think, I don’t think sometimes. I’ve been to Crusades where the preacher will say, repent! Repent of sin and they’ll define it as turn from sin.

And then the choir at the crusade will sing, just as I am I come without one plea. But that Thy blood was shed for me. In this case the song is right. The hymn writer is right. The preacher is wrong. But you know it doesn’t make any sense does it? The preacher’s saying to the audience turn from your sin and the choir is almost saying, don’t listen to him. We’re telling you the truth. Come, just as you are, without one plea, but that Christ blood was shed for you.

And then it’s almost like the preacher says, don’t listen to the choir, listen to me. You have to turn from your sin to be saved. And he quotes Repent of Sin, which doesn’t even occur in the Bible. Isn’t that amazing? I mean, if you had to turn from sin to be saved, then certainly they ought to have a choir singing a song that would hint at the same thing. Maybe I could write it. turn, turn, turn right now, turn or burn, turn from your sin.

I don’t know. I could come up with some kind of a jingle the choir could sing, but at least it would be consistent with the message. Does anybody think, does anybody connect the dots, does anybody realize that at an invitation time the preacher says one thing and the choir sings the exact opposite and the preacher is standing there watching it happen? Is his brain turned on? Is he thinking at all? What is going on in Christianity. I have found, and I’m a scientist, I graduated in electrical engineering, that in science 2 plus 2 is 4, no matter where you might be, whether it be in Europe or Asia or Africa or in outer space.

But in Christianity, in religion, it seems like you don’t have to have any connection to truth at all. In In one church they might say 2 plus 2 is 4 and they might say Amen Hallelujah. But the church across the street might say 2 plus 2 is 5 and they’ll say Amen Hallelujah preach it. And then the church down the street might say 2 plus 2 is 7 and they’ll say Amen Hallelujah praise the Lord. I’m amazed at what is said from pulpits that isn’t connected to any truth, is absolutely wrong is absolutely an error and people will amen it.

I preached a funeral and I didn’t discover till I got there there were three other preachers preaching in that funeral as well. I was last up to bat. The first preacher got up and said things that were so unreal, unscriptural, wrong, absolutely wrong. that bothered me. But what bothered me more is he would say something that was totally off the wall, totally unscriptural, and then he would ask his audience for affirmation and said, can I get an amen on that?

And they would say amen. Can I get a hallelujah on that? And they would say hallelujah. Can I get a praise the Lord on that? And they would say praise the Lord. And I’m saying, what is going on? Not only is this preacher saying things that are totally wrong, he’s asking the audience to affirm his wrongness by giving him an amen or a hallelujah or praise the Lord. What is going on? Does anybody use their brain? Is anybody thinking?

Are everybody in the audience, are they robots responding to whatever they’re told to do? It’s almost like, what he feeds me, I will swallow. I don’t know if you can live with that. I can’t. If the Bible says it, I have to believe what God says. If God says it, I believe it, that settles it. And we need to really be alert as to what the Bible says. Yes, you need to repent to be saved. It means change your mind.

Perhaps about how to be saved. It’s not my works. It’s by faith or by grace. Maybe it’s about the person of Christ. the person of Christ, he’s God, maybe you thought he was just a man, Jesus Christ is God and so on. Numerous things you can change your mind about, but the Greek word for repent means a change of mind. You can repent without believing, but you can’t believe without repenting. Biblical repentance is included in biblical faith. When you trust Christ, you do repent.

I’m Dr. Inclinstrum, this is Bibleline, and we’re going to go to the phone lines. We’ve We’ve had Fritz in Sarasota, so patient waiting now for the whole first part of the program. Fritz, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Well, thank you, Dr. Lynch, for my appreciation of taking my call. My comments were based on a problem last week that you had, or there were actually a couple of references to this particular subject. My remarks are directed toward that.

There’s a grouping of three chapters in 1st, Corinthians 12. 14. Okay. 14. 14. Yes. And as I’m sure that you’re aware, the first verse of chapter 12 is builds the spiritual pneumaticos, spiritual matters. Yes. It would seem to need to be most biblically logical that if you approach anything that’s spiritual, that one should err on the side of spiritual greatness, the one should dare to do the great spiritual things, then to simply step back and not attempt at all.

I believe that, and I think it’s quite clear in Corinthians, that there are nine manifestations, and that there is instruction both to the use. And to the abuse of the V It’s interesting that he brings this up because apparently there are many things that are dealt with in the area of correction and first Corinthians. I first and second Corinthians that people that are beginning to practice a little fault to be in their doctrine and belief, and it’s a time to correct.

The subject of speaking in terms is, it goes through very specifically, it discusses that And in 13 it says that though I speak with the tongues of men of angels and have not shared it, I am become the sounding brass or a tinkling symbol. The individual speaking in tongues is abusive of that. They themselves have been become that, not the speaking in tongues. I found in my life that the Lord Jesus Christ is constantly there to energize me when I need him, help, when I need him.

He’s constantly there to help and to strengthen. And I believe it’s just by far more spiritually wise to err on the side of spiritual greatness of daring to do great things. I’ve never been disappointed. I’ve had great things happen in my life. By feeling free to speak, I have the things that happen such as both the speaking, declaring the stopping of the miscarriage of what became my first child. And I know that you had spoken about speaking in tongues regarding as a technique to educate the unlearned and perhaps other cultures.

I actually, I think if you’ll look at that, that’s actually inspired utterance. That’s not speaking in tongues. The easiest way probably to understand inspired utterance is to actually understand inspired actions. Inspired actions are very similar to emotionally inspired actions, such a time if someone comes with an officer working on an ounce of a person’s husband or wife’s dad, you may feel emotionally compelled to put your arm around them very much the same spiritually spiritual situation you may feel spiritually compelled to do something sometimes it’s rather hard to distinguish because it comes from within.

What is your question of where we going with this? I’m sorry? What is your question? Where are we going here? I was just addressing some of the remarks that were made, that was made. And I know that I myself have spoken to tongues for 35 years. There are major ministries, well-known ministries, that speak in tongues. I can understand how someone might be a little concerned if they don’t understand the correct usages. And I guess to kind of finalize this whole thing, since 1 Corinthians 12, 13, and 14 are basically one context, it comes down to a concluding statement.

Well these last three, actually, three or four verses of 14, which says, if any man think himself to be a prophet or spiritual, meaning spiritually minded, let him acknowledge that the things that I write until you are the commandments of the Lord, say, let him be ignorant. for breaded, cupboard, or desire that is to prophesy, forbid not to speak with tongues, but all things be done decently in no order. And I think that pretty much in a nutshell really is a conclusion for that whole three chapters of First Corinthians.

Okay. Well, I thank you for sharing those comments with us. You know, the forbidding not to speak of tongues there is when the gift was still operative, as in chapter 13, it tells them that it would not be around very long because the gift of prophecy, the gift of knowledge and the gift of puns would cease when that which was perfect was come, which we believe was the completed New Testament. as I… He pointed out on past programs if you go just a little bit further along to the book of Ephesians when it lists the gifts, tongues is off the list that’s gone.

When you get to Romans, chapter 12, written even later, tongues is not there. Some of the spectacular gifts were temporary in nature. In Mark 16 we see it says that these spectacular gifts were given to confirm the spoken word in those early days before the Testament was written, but then once the New Testament was written, it was no longer necessary to have us be tacked in our gifts. The gift of prophecy, for example, was rendered entirely unnecessary. That’s what the Greeks says in verse 8 of chapter 13, that it would be rendered entirely unnecessary when we got the New Testament record, because we can turn to the Scriptures and see that God’s next event is the Rapture.

Then the Tribulation period will follow the rise of the Antichrist and the different judgments that will occur on the earth and the return of Christ at the Second Coming, the thousand year reign of Christ and so on and so on. So we don’t need to gift a prophecy anymore because the Scriptures lay out God’s plan for the future and we don’t have to have the gift anymore. And the gift of tongues was not necessary anymore because if you read verse 21, God had predicted that during this church age that God would win Jewish people to Christ in Gentile languages.

Since all the first Christians were in Jerusalem and were Jewish, they had to be given a miraculous gift of Gentile languages so that the transition could begin immediately on day one on Pentecost, but this would be an age of Gentile evangelism and that the Jewish people would be evangelized in Gentile languages. Obviously, as the gospel spread out rather quickly, the gift was no longer necessary because Gentiles were getting saved and leading Jewish people to Christ in their Gentile language.

I have led lots and lots of Jewish people to Christ in Israel, in other countries, and here in America. I have quite a number of Jewish believers in my congregation, but I have led all of them to Christ in English, not in Hebrew. I am fulfilling what this was all about there at Pentecost, and that is I am using a Gentile language to win Jews to Christ, but at the beginning the gift had to be given so that those early Hebrew believers, the apostles, could speak to those Jews at Pentecost in a Gentile language.

So I believe the gift totally ceased before the first century ended and what is being done today is not only being done by a number of denominations but it’s also done by Buddhists, by Islam, by all the world religions, by the Mormons which are not even Christian, by the leader in the Satanic seance, they break into the same gibberish and untelgible speech, you go to the Encyclopedia and show that the gibberish has always been around. And in Isaiah chapter 8, it talks about this gibberish as having a demonic connection.

So I think we have to be careful in the area of what is being called tongues today, that we should forbid that because it is wrong. But the real gift ceased, but when it was still operative, as it was still in operation when Paul wrote this corrective letter in 1 Corinthians, he said, don’t forbid it because there were people living that still had the gift at that time and I think the gift ceased when they died and it ceased to be given out anymore once the New Testament record was complete.

Sure to thank you for that call. We have a number of all fair questions. Let me take one real quick here. Jim and Tampa calls in and he says, can Satan be in more than one place at a time? I think the answer is no. He is not omnipresent. He is limited to one place. Where do you think he is now? Well, I really don’t know, but it seems that down through time that he seems to headquarter in certain cities.

And apparently he headported himself in the city of Tyre at one time if you read Ezekiel 38 and Ezekiel some earlier chapters that talk about Satan. But apparently in the end times he will be head-quattering himself in maybe in Rome. But we know in Revelation it seemed like… As Christ sent those seven messages out to the seven churches, he had poured himself in pergamous for a while. And there he had his throne or his headquarters. So Satan is limited, and I don’t know exactly where he’s at right now, but he has so many angels at his disposal that he’s fully aware of what’s going on around the world.

And he gets that information sent back to him from his intelligence angels who are gathering information at all times. The Satan can only believe I believe being one place at one time and yes he is some place on this planet right now as he’s working hard I think to prepare the world for his man the Antichrist to come on the world scene. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, this is Bible Ann, I’m not going to England’s Truman, we’re coming to you live.

From Tampa, Florida, from our studios at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor and we look forward to being with you each and every day. We have Tony in Richmond, Virginia who’s been waiting patiently. Tony, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Lindstrom. Good morning. I just had a question almost chapter 13 verse 10. Okay. The same issue as far as tongues because Nina in a brother of mine were having a discussion. about it and I believe that the gift is passed away and we were discussing that in chapter Chapter 13 verse 10 where it says, which is perfect is to come.

But my brother was telling me that he was saying the perfect is Christ. And I wasn’t sure about that. Well the answer sounds good but in the Greek all of this is neuter in verses 8, 9 and 10 and in the Greek you have gender endings on the verbs, adverbs, nouns, pronouns and that’s And that’s the way you connect the sentences. They don’t have periods and commas and all the type of punctuation we have in the English language. And therefore it has to refer to a neuter subject here.

And Christ in the Greek is masculine. It’s Christos. The OS ending is masculine. SetFontSize So it cannot refer to Christ. And even if you were God, it’s a theos, which is OS ending is masculine. The whole word for God are masculine and it cannot refer to Christ for God. And so that is obviously a wrong answer. Some say, well it’s love. This is the love chapter they say. And when everybody loves one another, which is when Christ comes back, then it’ll happen.

But interestingly, this is interesting. Love in the Greek is feminine. It cannot refer to love. It cannot refer to Christ. But if you go back to the Old Testament to the Psalms, it says the law of the Lord is perfect. Converting the soul and making wise the simple, I think it’s Psalm 17 5. Also, the book of James written before Corinthians calls the word of God that which is perfect. So it appears that perfect is neuter in the Greek and that which is perfect must refer therefore to the word of God.

The phrase perfect is used of God’s word in Psalm 75 and also in James 125 and other verses so it can’t refer to Christ, it cannot refer to love. You have to pick a neuter, and I think it’s pretty much nailed down. Okay, I also had another statement actually dealing with Repentant. First, you know, to combat against people that believe that it means Saul for sin and you know, the wrong meaning of the word. And that’s in Genesis. You know a repented God that he made man.

Yeah, and God cannot sin. Exactly. That pretty much, you know, opens people’s eyes to think, you know, wow, what really does the word mean? So, you’re absolutely right. You know, in the Old Testament, the English word repent occurs 43 times and 37 of those times it’s God who repents. And that causes a big problem for those people who believe it means the term from sin because you’ve got a holy god who’s not capable of sending turning from his sin left and right right actually you do the math on that thirty seven divided by forty three it’s eighty six percent of the time it’s got to repents wow wow that is a problem for my notice that their mouths get shut and they say i don’t know how to explain that but obviously we’ve been taught wrong and and it’s hard for people to change their mind repent

when you’ve been told all our life they want to stay with what they’ve been taught in and they fight and argue and kick but but the truth is that repent does not mean turn from center so far from sin yeah well i i just know the word of god changes people’s mind i just have to show my kitty of color all the time always have to point it out but when you do not get good job it sounds like keeping up thank you pastor all right i have a good afternoon you to know that it was tonyan uh…

richmond uh… virginia we have a brad in richmond virginia the switchman day right now looks like brad welcome to buy one on the air hi doctor Well, I think there’s a liberalism and fundamentalism, if you believe the Bible to be literal, then you have to say it is a literal account. I believe that the Genesis record is a literal account. And obviously Jesus endorses it. Obviously, He seems to take the most difficult stories of the Old Testament and puts his approval on them.

And He says, for example, about Adam and Eve, He says, did you never read in Matthew 19 that God created them male and female? and so on. And he goes, Jesus always until the end of his ministry speaks allegorically and metaphorically. So I believe he’s speaking about an allegorical account of creation and also many times when Jesus speaks first, we quote the Old Testament. We have to be real about this. He often he quotes the Greek mistranslation of the Old Testament even when he’s speaking to Orthodox Jewish Pharisees.

right there we got a clue there that all the words of Jesus and not all the words of Jesus well Well, I have put words in Jesus’s mouth in the New Testament. I thoroughly disagree with you, Brad. I believe that you are not going to be able to I believe that Jesus took the Old Testament to be literal. If you read Matthew 7, chapter 5 or 17 and 18, he says that not one letter or even the smallest marking of a letter would in any wise past.

until all of it was literally fulfilled. And as you read the book of Matthew, it starts off using the word fulfilled again and again that Christ came and was the fulfillment of old peasant passages that were to be taken literally. And he puts his own credibility up against some of the most difficult stories. He says, as Jonah was, three days and three nights in Ephesus’ belly, so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

If John is a myth, then Christ is a myth. He also endorses other stories that seem to be difficult in the Old Testament and puts his approval on the Genesis flood. He says it was in the days of Noah. So shall it be again in the days of the coming of the Son of Man. So if the story of Noah is not true, then Christ’s second coming is not going to be true. The Bible stands and falls together and that he is talking about literal things.

In the God minute when he said it and we’re to take it for what it’s worth. Now there are some places where it’s clearly metaphorical and it lets us know that. But I believe hell is real, heaven is real, that Jesus is real and that if a person dies without Christ they’re going to hell. If they trust Christ, they’ll go to heaven and it’s basically that simple. I’ve been in some of those kind of classes that you’re talking about.

I went through a five-year engineering program at the University of Florida and I was supposedly enlightened in the humanities and heard the Bible bashed by liberal professors. But again, you have to realize that a person who is not saved doesn’t make much sense out of the Bible, no matter how bright they are. 1 Corinthians 2, 14 says the natural man receive not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him. Neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.

So Brad, the unsaid person can read the Bible until he is blue in the face and really not make a whole lot of sense. And when a person tells me that the Bible doesn’t make sense to him and it’s foolishness to them, that’s like a red flag that goes off for me that they’re probably not saved because the Bible isn’t making sense because once you get saved then the Holy Spirit illuminates our understanding of the Bible. It didn’t make a better sense to me until I got saved and then once I got saved the Bible made a lot of sense.

Thank you for that call Brad from Richmond, Virginia. We now have Joe visiting from Miami, sitting right here in our studio smiling big and just took my picture and I hope it turns out good. I don’t know if I slicked up real good for radio today but good to have you in the studio Joe from Miami Florida one of our listeners who dropped in on us. We are now going to Levita in Lakeworth Florida and Levita welcome to Bible on your on the air.

Thank you Dr. Hank. I just wanted to call and say thank you because my husband and I have and Christians for over 25 years. We have been evangelizing salvation through faith in Jesus Christ all the time. We have met criticism after criticism. In fact, here in Florida, we just… We were located at a facility where there were other Christians and we were constantly criticized and finally evicted because of our belief in salvation through faith. The other Christians there, you have to have work.

You have to have work. You have to do this. You have to do that. And we kept telling people, no, you really don’t. And you know, we just want to thank you because it helps every once in a while for the encouragement and the validation from someone else who has the same doctrine that you do. Well, thank you so much. I know what you’re talking about and definitely it’s a spiritual battle. And people, you know the message of grace and the message that Christ paid it all actually brings about persecution.

And it says in Timothy, yay all that will live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution and it happens. And you don’t even have to try. All you have to do is tell them that Jesus paid it all and they just get all read into faith and want to try to tell you that they have to work their way to heaven and they don’t realize that they’re blinded by religion and by a false message. The wonderful gospel is that Jesus paid it all.

Well, it is so simple and most people try to make it so difficult. I mean, he tried to break it down and make it as simple as love one another as I have loved you and that’s about all it takes. Yeah. And trust in the Lord. Trust in the Lord and you’re saved the moment you do. Amen. Love you to keep listening down there and I’m glad our program is a blessing to you. Oh, it is. Every day. Thank you, Dr.

Hank. You are welcome. Bye-bye. And that was Levita down in Lake Worth, Florida. We don’t have Debra in Richmond, Virginia. Debra, welcome to my one. Yes. I’m just calling because, remember you was talking about speaking in tongues and stuff. And I just received speaking in tongues. I had some kind of religion spirit. I have been a thunder, demonic attack, generation cross, whatever you want to call it. call it. I still have something like that was hovering around me. I’ve had the fear of telling me since 16 to 29 when I turned 36 years old.

I was free. They got back in me. I went to a church about two Sundays ago and now the doubles fight me all my life and I speak in tongues and God gave me that protection because of that and I can be downstairs like two three o’clock in the morning and it’s like somebody like on top of me trying to touch me and yeah Deborah what are you what are you trusting in to get you to heaven I’m trusting God the what did God do for you that you’re trusting okay now can you lose your salvation what do you mean in other words can you do something that would cause you to go to hell can you ever be lost God let me know that all All this stuff came in my life at an early age, you know, young age and I was innocent.

Alright, what if you go back and do it now? Would you go to hell if you died? Back to what I can do, whatever you were doing, but when you were at a young age? No, other people got to stuff and come all life within my life. The point is, the point is what if you just quit on God altogether and died? Would you go to heaven or hell? I don’t know. I can’t answer that. I don’t know. The whole point is that eternal life is eternal life and you become saved the moment you trust the Lord.

There is nobody on the planet earth today that has the gift of tongues. What you’re doing that people are calling tongues is a gibberish that’s done by all the world religions and is not tongues. If you have the real gift of tongues and you need to head out to whatever country that speaks that language and lead those people to Christ, the real gift is German, French, Chinese, Swahili, or whatever. and is not what you’re calling tongues. There’s nobody on the planet today.

The real gift is ceased and God is not giving it out anymore. So whatever you’re doing is not the biblical gift. You need to take a real fresh look at everything all over again. And of course, especially your salvation, once you trust Christ, you are saved forever. And the Holy Spirit comes into you and seals you He says, when you believe the gospel, that you are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest or the down payment of your inheritance until the redemption of the purchase possession.

So the moment you trust the Lord that God the Holy Spirit himself seals you as his child, and in order to be lost, someone would have to be more powerful than God the Holy Spirit to break you free from his seal. And you’re his, and he has given you the Holy Spirit as a down payment to show that God is in earnest about carrying forth your salvation and making sure that your feet are planted safely on heaven shore and you can never become lost once you become saved.

Jesus says in Hebrews 13-5, I will never leave you and I’ll never forsake you. So I think you’re listening again to bad information and I think these are still to my experience that are dealing with you. I think you need to come free from that. You are not speaking in tongues. You’re doing a gibberish which is I’m sure you admit you don’t know what nor you’re saying. What does anybody else when you do what you claim to be tongues?

The real gift is ceased and the real gift were words easily understood by people that would hear it. In 1 Corinthians 14, 9 it says, except you speak with a tongue, words easy to be understood. How shall it be known what is spoken? That’s how you can tell whether you’ve got the real gift or not. You need to be understood by the hearer that hears you speaking that tongue and it needs to be a real foreign language and you should use it to evangelize and believe that person to Christ.

I think you need a fresh look at everything. If you don’t mind, if you’ll give your operator or operators your address, we’ll send you a CD I think that you’ll find very helpful to help you sort things out. Okay, I want to ask you another question. Okay. It’s like I’ve said to you. Again, you’re going in the wrong direction. This is really the direction the Satan would have to go in. It is not biblical today. You need to watch out for that.

My offer is going to pick up this phone line now and we’re going to send you something that will help you. Okay. We’ll be praying for you, Deborah. That is Deborah in Richmond, Virginia. A lot of people are seeking something that God has not offered. The gift of tongues has been withdrawn. The same thing is true of the gift of drinking any deadly poison. If you read Mark 1617, I don’t see too many people claiming, boy, I’ve got the gift of drinking deadly poison and wake up in the morning and mix up an arsenic cocktail and drink it down or take some strict nine before breakfast.

You’re going to die if you do that. But there was a time when that gift was real. It was also the gift where you could be bit by a deadly snake, a cobra, a rattle snake, or cobra, or coral snake, or whatever, and you would not die. That isn’t true today. I don’t see people running around, there are some, I guess, in the hills of parts of our country where they do, but you read in the paper they die all the time when they get bit.

I don’t see people today being bitten by deadly snakes and surviving because they have the gift that they won’t be hurt. Now it was real at one time Paul on the shipwreck when he’s gathering wood for the fire. A deadly viper comes out of the fire and bites him on the arm and they expected him to drop dead in moments. And he shook the fire, the snake off into the fire and he lived and they thought he was a god then because he survived it.

But that was one of those miraculous gifts that is gone today. Why do people pick and choose? I want tongues but I don’t want the gift of drinking deadly poison. tongues, but I don’t want the gift of handling deadly snakes and being bitten and not dying. It doesn’t make any sense. The spectacular gifts are gone and tongues is gone and the drinking of any deadly drink in Mark 1617 is gone, the handling of deadly snakes is gone and if you don’t believe it, try one of those and see what happens.

I think we’ll read about you in the obituary column because you’ll die. I hope that helps. Thank you, Deborah, for calling and we’re going to send that material right out to you and keep listening to Bible Land. Okay, we have off the Earth, Donna, in Bradenton, Florida, just called in and she said, where There is Mary. I believe the mother of Jesus buried. If the Catholics believe Mary has risen where her body is supposed to be, we know that Jesus rose and they did not find his body.

Well the Catholics teach that she’s buried in Jerusalem. I’ve been to the church in Jerusalem where they have the tomb of Mary and they swear that her body is inside that tomb. I’ve also been to Ephesus, Turkey and there they have a church and a tomb where they swear that Mary is buried. I believe that that is the real place, by the way, in Ephesus, Turkey where John the Apostle, Pastered and he took care of Mary till she died.

But also the Catholic Church teaches that Mary never died but simply ascended up into heaven. And when you ask Roman Catholics what is true, they say all three are true. I mean it’s craziness. It makes no sense at all. But the true answer is I believe that she’s buried in Ephesus Turkey. That’s where she lived out her life and there she is buried in her tomb, is there to this day. And, but there’s some confusion out there and obviously that’s not from the Lord.

We have a Troy in the land, Florida and Troy, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hi Dr. Hank, I just want to thank you for explaining the way you do and you can not of your own opinion but through the scriptures. And I wanted to just tell Deborah that life and death within the tongue and she needs to stop claiming those demons and probably through that gibberish they live through her and they give her a sense of confusion.

And any time that you’re confused we know that that’s fine of demon. And she is a spirit and that her body, her spirit lives in her body and she doesn’t have to claim those that curse that Adam and Eve gave to all of us really call on the Lord and know that she’s safe and he’s there. He’s there just as he was when the storm hit and Peter walked on the water and they didn’t even recognize that he was there and once they realized that he was there and everything will be okay.

Okay. I’ll throw you right on and thank you for sharing that with her. I believe you’re exactly right. And she’s had apparently a demonic past and it’s still with her, but it’s reappeared in another form. And she thinks that this experience she’s having is now of God when it really isn’t. And it’s not a biblical experience at all. that’s where the devil likes to confuse us that that exactly right he’s the sky itself that has been a guy and he’s not any not and that and and she would have it that she knows god he’ll be there and and to recognize uh…

counterfeit from the real thing because she’s confused and and that’s that that’s the sign that if there’s confusion he’s there uh… michael mola i know in In 2nd Corinthians 11 it tells us Satan appears as an angel of light. Amen. And he disguises himself. Makes himself appear to be beautiful and to be true. And he deceives people by the fact that he can disguise himself and appear to be something he’s not. Oh, thank you, Dr. Hank. And give me back to one of your helpers and I’d like to make a donation.

And I just love your program. And I like to support it. Troy will give you right back to one of our operators and thanks again for calling in today. This is Bible. I hope you’ve trusted Jesus as your Savior. The key word is trust. T-R-U-S-T. People many times say they believe in which is talking primarily, I think, about mental ascent. The Greek word pestuo, P-I-S-T-E-U-O, that’s translated believe in the New Testament really means best expressed in English trust. When you trust that Christ died and by his death and shed blood, paid your sin debt and full was buried and rose again from the dead, God saves you.

And that’s the bottom line. You can know you’re saved and be assured of that because Jesus paid it all. And when you trusted He did that for you, God saves you. We’re now going to go to Michael in Pensacola, Florida, and Michael, welcome to Bibleline your own ear. Good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning. I was reading in the first Corinthians 12, 14, chapter, now you’re a lot people calling it about the tongues. The 13th chapter in Corinth was talked about the wise peak with the tongues of men and of angels.

Okay. Well, I know that you know comes of men are like you know Chinese Russian or Italian but tons of angels. I mean we have no idea what a tongue of an angel is well I think it’s really talking about eloquence When you read in the Bible, whenever an angel spoke, they were clearly understood by the hearer. When the angel appeared to Mary, he didn’t go, oh, wait, wait, wait, wait. Mary didn’t say, oh my God, what does he say?

The angel spoke to her, said, if you’re not Mary, you’re highly favored among women and told her how that she would be pregnant and that she’d carry the Christ out. Gotta run, keep looking up.
