Where is Heaven? Have you ever thought about it? Does the Bible have any clues? It appears from a study of the Scriptures that Heaven is located in the North in our universe. When they would offer the sacrifices in the Old Testament they would offer them Northward toward the Lord.

Take a look at what we have here and we’ll get a chance to meet you and you’ll get a chance to meet us.
We have people coming by every day and we look forward to meeting our audience and you’re certainly welcome to come by. If you’re in the state of Florida for whatever reason, for vacation or for business, please take that extra minute and come by and say hi here to us here at the Bible and Headquarters. We’re located in the Calvary Community Church facilities which I’m the pastor of and of course you can always come by on a worship day. We would love to have you come by on a Sunday morning or Sunday evening or Wednesday night.
This coming Sunday is the first Sunday in September and we will be observing the Lord Supper. If you would like to observe the Lord Supper with us, it will be at 9.45 over 10.15 and then our worship service begins at 10.30. That would be a nice day to come. A lot of churches are not observing the Lord Supper yet. The Lord tells us this due in remembrance of me. And it is clear that we are to do this till He comes.
It says in 1 Corinthians 11 that we give testimony to what Christ did for us as it looks back to the cross till He comes again. And so certainly believers in this age are to observe the Lord’s Supper. By the way we have lots of CDs and DVDs available for you. If you want to get some of our teachings, I just finished teaching 1st and 2nd Thessalonians. Those 10 hours of teaching are available on 10 CDs. You can order that set.
Also we have just finished the book of Jude, the book of Romans, the book of Hebrews. Those are exciting books. The book of Jude is book number 65 in your Bible. It makes a connection between the previous 64 books of the Bible and introduces the last and final book of the Bible, the book of Revelation. Wow, what a pivotal book that is. The book of Jude, 10 hours of teaching on that incredible book, you’ll want to get that series.
That was one of our best. And then we have the book of Romans. And Romans obviously is the book that is really the definition of the gospel in 16 chapters where Paul says in verse 16 of chapter 1, I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For it, the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth to the Jew first and also to the Greek. This is the incredible book that Martin Luther the Reformer when asked to teach at the University of Wittenberg in Germany the book of Romans, he was a Roman Catholic priest by the way, as he began to study the book of Romans so he could teach it, he gets to chapter 1 verses 16 and 17 and he gets what happens.
Luther gets saved. He says, this is not what I’ve been told all my life. And he discovered that it was the gospel message of faith in Christ and what he did at the cross is death barely in resurrection, his shed blood. As the means of forgiveness, Martin Luther got saved. That sparked the Reformation. Wow. Thank God that the Book of Romans, so powerful, He didn’t have to read sixteen chapters. He got saved in chapter one. You’ll love our ten hours of teaching on the Book of Romans verse by verse.
Also the book A Hebrews, one of the books that people stumble over trip over, not too many commentaries written on Hebrews. Why? Because I think most people don’t understand the book A Hebrews. Most commentators didn’t want to venture into the muddy waters it seems of the book Hebrews but guess what? We did a wonderful series that people really have said has enlightened them. The difficult passages melt away. And you can have that 10 CD series by calling our operators and placing it order.
We’ll ship it right out. These are great. And also we have DVDs. That’s video. 65 minute videos of different teachings, different doctrines on the Bible. and you might want to call and ask about those as well as the skill field Bible that I recommend so much and so many other things that Will help you in your growth in any case welcome to Bibleline. Thanks for tuning in we’re streaming to the internet We had 13,000 45 listeners last month 142 countries around the world have logged on and in addition to that of course we have our broadcast we’re broadcasting not only in many cities across America, but also in Honduras, Central America.

We stream those as well as our radio program. So radio and television can be seen on the internet now 24 hours a day, seven days a week from anywhere on the globe.
Tell your friends in other countries, would you? We’re going to get into the Bible here and we’re looking forward to taking your questions. You can call us at 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. We are going to take a look at the Bible real quickly and then we’ll get into the questions so get ready to make your call. Some people are already waiting online and we’ll get to them as quickly as we can. Where is heaven? Have you ever thought about it? Does the Bible have any clues?
Well, when you were a child or if you ask a child, where is heaven? They’ll usually point straight up, but you know 12 hours later if they’re still pointing upward, they’d be pointing totally in an opposite direction. They’d be pointing down, wouldn’t they? Because the earth is turning on its axis continually, the direction when you point up is constantly changing. So then where is heaven? Does the Bible give us any better clues? Well, it appears from the study of scriptures that heaven is located in the north in our universe.
That’s right. When they would offer sacrifices in the Old Testament, they would offer them northward before the Lord. Moses tells us, God tells us, in Leviticus 1 and He shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the Lord. Isn’t that amazing? Northward before the Lord is what God’s Word says, so the implication is clear that the Lord is in the north. Northward before the Lord. North is also, by the way, always the same direction from the planet no matter what time of day.
If you were to point to the north in the morning, twelve hours later you would still be pointing in the same direction. No matter where the earth is in its orbit about the sun, north is always the same direction in relationship to the earth. So no matter what time of day or what time of year, north is always the same. The Bible also implies salvation comes from the north. In Psalm 75, 6, we read that salvation comes neither from the east nor the west nor the south.
Only one direction left, therefore, we must conclude that salvation comes from the north since it’s the only choice left us. God and heaven must be located in the north in our universe. Thirty-five hundred years ago in the book of Job in the Old Testament, God gave us two amazing scientific facts in one great verse. Job 26-7 says, God stretches out the North over the empty place and hangeth the earth upon nothing. One scientific fact is that the fact that the earth is hung in space upon nothing.
History tells us that man did not know this. What man did believe was scientifically in error. The Egyptians, for example, believed that the earth was a saucer held up by four pillars with a ring of mountains around the edge of the saucer to keep the water from running off. The Greeks believed the earth was resting on the back of Atlas, and then because this theory was so popular and so widespread because of the Greek culture, we see its effects today.
For example, if you go to the library and you get a book of maps that’s called an Atlas, The Hindus believe that the earth was carried on an elephant’s back and that the elephant was standing on a turtle that was swimming in a cosmic sea. Do you see any of that in the Bible? No. The Bible is amazingly accurate and amazingly silent about scientific inaccuracies. The Bible doesn’t say any of that nonsense. Amazingly, the Bible does not include any of these myths and fairy tales, but simply stated the earth was hung upon nothing.
Science cannot give us a better description than this. If you ask a scientist what holds the earth in place, he’ll say gravity. You ask him what gravity is. gravity is? He’ll say that’s what holds the earth in place. They just go around in a circle, don’t they? They can’t give us a better answer than God gave us in the Bible that He hangs the earth upon nothing. But you know, Job 26.7, this verse that we’re talking about that was written 3500 years ago, also tells us He stretches out the north over the empty place.
Here’s another amazing scientific fact that there’s an empty place or void in the north in our universe. By the way it was first discovered by the 200-inch telescope in Mount Palomar, California. It is now being studied by three separate observatories in this country. This empty place has been found to be so large that it could contain 2000 Milky Way’s. No Hershey bars. No, I’m talking about the Milky Way galaxy of course. And the Milky Way galaxy is 100,000 light years across.
That means light traveling at 186,000 miles per second would take 100,000 years to reach from one end of the Milky Way galaxy to the other. The void in the north is so large that it could hold 2,000 Milky Way galaxies. Wow, pretty big hole in the north, isn’t it? You know, Lucifer, Satan, when he tried to overthrow God, tells us that he wanted to go to the North, apparently telling us where heaven is. He says in the five I wills of Isaiah 14 that I will ascend into heaven, Satan said, and then he said I will sit also upon the Mount of the congregation in the sides of the North.
to imply a corridor with sides, an empty hole in the north where heaven is. What is interesting is there was an interesting article in the New York Times, and I have a copy of it in front of me right now, and it says here, oddity in space confounds astronomers. Astronomers have found an unyielding mystery that they have on their hands, something that they’ve observed and pondered for three years, a point of light deep in the northern sky. When I saw that northern sky, I got my attention.
Well it turns out that they cannot determine from the spectra what they’re looking at. The head of the California Institute of Technology and Leader of the Sky Survey that detected this mystery light says I’ve never seen any spectrum like this and I take spectrum for for a living. He says the light doesn’t vary, doesn’t move, it doesn’t erupt. Well interestingly, I read that and I thought to myself in James, the Bible says that God is the Father of Light.
And with Him there is no variableness. Could it be that the light source is God Himself? Could it be that the light that they’re seeing is coming from the New Jerusalem, the heavenly city where God resides and that this light is like no other light in the universe, that this light is actually generated by God himself. They can’t take the spectra on it. The light doesn’t vary, it says. It doesn’t move. It doesn’t erupt. Read James chapter 1 where it says God is the Father of Light and with Him there is no variableness.
Could it be that perhaps with our modern telescopes we’re now seeing light that is coming to us from heaven itself. Could be, I’m Dr. Engvenstrom. This is Bibleline. We’re going to take your questions right now. The phone number is 1-800-576-3771. Welcome to Bibleline, and we’re so glad that you’ve tuned in today. We’re going to go to our first caller, Randy, down in Sarasota, Florida. You’re on the air. Hey, the Bible. Am I correct?
The Bible is our soul in any peaching outside of the explicit word to be believed. Well, yeah, it is, you know, the word of God will help us in every area of life as we examine what God says. And that is a way we can’t study science and math and other things. And obviously, you know, study in college and learn for our careers. But the Bible is especially the spiritual guide for everything. It says in Second Timothy. Timothy 3, 16, all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction and righteousness that the man of God may be throughly furnished.
It means completely furnished unto all good works. So this is the book that equips us as believers to go through this world, know how to handle the problems that come our way, and to be able to discern God’s will and to know what God expects of us that it is pleasing in his sight as a believer and how that salvation is my faith alone in the finished work of Christ at the cross of Calvary. Right. Now I understand that, but is it if so, if any teaching is outside of teaching?
Well, I believe so. For example, evolution in the Bible are in conflict because the Bible says that God specifically created each species after their own kind or they reproduce after their own kind. in science really contradicts that. Yet the evolutionists persist that we all came from one single cell at one point and every bit of life is just sprung forth through some evolutionary process. But the Bible is clear to say that God created man completely separate from all of the animals and he took dust of the ground, fashioned man, breathed in his nostrils the breath of life, Genesis 2-7, and man became a living soul.
And obviously that’s in conflict with that many people believe when they are taught evolution, which we believe is a lie. And certainly I think there is no real evidence to support evolution. There is no transitional forms, although they talk about how we have come forth from different life forms. There is no evidence in the fossil record. There is no evidence in the microscopic world that you never see in Amoeba after years of being examined on the microscope getting unhappy and saying i’m dissatisfied with being an immediate me but i think i’d like to be a paramecium now and then switch over to something else it just doesn’t happen right uh…
i i i searched i couldn’t find anywhere in the bible that states that the bible is defined in the bible several places where jesus did say go out and and uh… and preach in uh… and uh… and thymethia talks about hold fast to the sacred traditions uh… but why reiterate i did not find anywhere in the bible that says the bible is my soul authority and if you believe that the bible is the soul authority then your doctor and that will is my soul authority well it’s not that it’s not in the bible so your own doctrine is not there how do how do you reconcile that well what do you know what do you think about the verses i just quoted from second tennedy that the scriptures are inspired and are what god is given to us to completely it says equipped the believer
uh… and obviously uh… it is uh… all we need we don’t need anything else to quit thisaepernick to be uh… a believer who can live the christian life in such a way that’s pleasing to god not that’s not what did not exist for three hundred and twenty five years three hundred and twenty five years the bible did not exist it was put together at the ecumenical council in the year three twenty five and the person who or inspired by the holy spirit was what is that authority so the bible you follow actually you are following that uh…
authority of of the catholic church because the bible you read today was the bible that the pope had the authority to put together in the year three twenty five but it didn’t exist that’s not true twenty five years ago that it exists no you did the catholic church roman had a church didn’t exist till the sixth century as we know what they are not true yes it is the constant team declared the world to become christian and then later the church split into the eastern church in the western church the eastern church is the greek The Bible was existed long before that.
The Bible was existent in the life of the Apostles. As Peter tells us that Paul’s writings were scripture in 2 Peter chapter 3. And we find that Paul himself tells us that his letter to the Thessalonians believers was accepted as Scripture, as the word of God, as it was indeed in truth. And each of these books, as they were written, were accepted as the inspired word of God, there’s no group, no counsel that ever decided what books would or would not be in the Bible.
What happened in 325 was a consensus that the books that had been accepted were indeed the word of god without dispute uh… they would though they were put together in three twenty five the bible did exist from the very get-go uh… there were there were writing out there in the world teaching and and timothy it says hold fast to sacred tradition uh… i i i don’t see how the bible could be your soul well in that uh… obviously that the the twenty seven books we have were accepted from the get-go and the thirty nine books of the old testament were solidified about 500 years before Christ ever came.
The Old Testament was completed as the prophets were withdrawn and God didn’t speak anymore. We have what we call 500 silent years between the Old Testament and when Christ came. And then shortly after Christ left, the apostles gave us the New Testament. Those books were accepted immediately as were the Old Testament books as being written by by authentic books, verses for God, and accepted as scripture as they were written, and were added to the collection of what we call the Bible or the scriptures that met the standard of people accepted.
And obviously many books were rejected. And those books, some of them that came along later, the Gnostic books and others, that we have people trying to push on us today, the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Jews, and all these others are clearly books that were rejected soundly by the early believers in the first and second centuries. Only the twenty-seven that we now have are the inspired Word of God we believe and they have a tradition of it all the way back down to the first century.
The early church fathers so prolifically quoted the scriptures that you could go back and reconstruct the entire New Testament, the 27 books except for 11 verses, if you had no manuscripts at all just by reading the quotes from the early church fathers. The Bible indeed is the Word of God and is inspired of God and we can trust it as our soul authority. We have Stacy in Clearwater. Stacy, welcome to Bibleline. Hi, Dr. Hank. I just have a quick question and then I’m going to hang up and listen to you.
Romans 12 verse 20. Could you decipher that verse for me? Romans 4 20. All right, I’m kidding. So 12 20. Oh, 12 20. I’m sorry. I’m on my way. Romans. All right, I’m almost there. Romans. And I just wonder if that’s the, you know, you hear so often kill them with kindness. Is that where that came from? let me see your Romans 1220 says, therefore if your enemy hunger feed him, if he thirst, give him a drink, for in so doing thou shalt he tolls the fire on his head.
I think you’re right, kill him with kindness is a good expression. Verse 21 goes on to say be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good. So we’re to do the right thing. What is the one who will take vengeance? It says a little bit earlier here in the same chapter in verse 19. And so we need to distrust the Lord and to do the right thing and God will take care of the ones that are evil. Obviously, as we do good, obviously God’s punishment upon them will become greater because they will obviously be much more accountable because they have been treated correctly by us.
Is that where the heat burning colds come in? Yeah, I think so. That when God judges them, because they have rejected a clear and kind witness on our part, they’re going to be more greatly judged than, and definitely God will compensate them for what they’ve done in the way of… He is the one who is hurting or persecuting Christians. There are many other verses that state the same thing that God will recompense them according to their deeds and the unbeliever goes to hell because he’s an unbeliever but he will be assigned a degree of punishment based upon his deeds.
So works will come into play for the unbeliever but not determining his destination but determining the degree of punishment when he reaches it. For believers as well we go to heaven because we’re trusting Christ as Savior, but there are degrees of reward in heaven based upon our deeds as well. Thanks a lot Stacey and that was Stacey in Clearwater Florida. We have lots of people calling the lines are lighting up. We have lots of all fair questions we hope to get to today, but we’re gonna be coming up here on this break.
So let me just say if you’ve never trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior, then you need to do that. Just whisper that prayer, Lord I’m a sinner and And we all are but I trust Jesus Christ right now is my only hope of reaching heaven I trust that by his death and shed blood he paid my sin debt and full was buried and rose again from the dead I trust Jesus right now to forgive my sin and give me the gift of everlasting life So glad to be with you today, and I hope down in South Florida You’ll catch our television program tonight at 8 30 on cable throughout all of South Florida.
I am going to Now go to break and we’ll come right back in a minute and do Bible in part 2. So stay tuned and don’t go away. We’ll be right back in just a moment. Don’t go away. Thanks for tuning into the broadcast We hope that you’ll take advantage of some of the resources we have we have some wonderful haha books and One of the books that we have is on the Holy Spirit by Charles Riring. That is an excellent book and It really does cover the things that are so misconstrued by many today in the teachings on the Holy Spirit, the baptism of the Holy Spirit. When does it take place? What about tongues? And all these things are clearly answered.
We also have a book by Merle Unger called the New Testament Teaching on Tons. And this one is unbelievable and just shows that the gift of tongues ceased 2,000 years ago that it was a temporary gift and the gibberish being done today is not the biblical gift at all. We also have numerous other books by Charles Ryrie. We have his book on 1st and 2nd Tusslolians, his book on the book of Revelation. We have his book called Basic Theology, which is a wonderful reference book to have on your shelf to deal with the different doctrines that will come up from time to time and give you really a clear and concise answer on those.
And plus numerous other books, but I just happen to be picking on Charles Ryrie today. And I know that you’ll be glad to get some of these in your library. Whenever you order, you will be helping Bibleline and you’ll be helping yourself. The books that we recommend here in our bookstore are books that I recommend personally, as I’ve bought a lot of books and I’ve wasted a lot of money over the years because many of the books did not live up to the expectation I had for them.
And so you might want to check our resources call and our operators will send you a resource list of all of our things that we have in our resource center. You can also go to the website bybellineministries.org or .com and click on the online book store. pictures and descriptions of all the things that we have and you can order by phone or over the internet. In any case, we’re about ready to do by one part two. If your station doesn’t care in the second half, go to the internet and you’ll catch the full program and we hope that you’ll go to the internet anyway and catch our program again and again as often as you like.
You can download it in the MP3 format for free. We also have podcasting where you can sign up for free and have it just automatically sent to your computer for your iPod and you can care these programs with you wherever you go. We’re going to go back to our stations that have been on break and do the second half of Bible ends so don’t go away. Keep your dial tuned right where it is as we’re right now ready to join the other stations.
Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back from the break and this is my line and I’m Dr. England Sherman. We are so excited to be able to be with you every day and the reason we’re able to do that is because we have listeners like you who pray for and give the Bibleline to allow us the opportunity to be on the air.
It’s very expensive. One of our stations cost us in the six figures just to be on the air. Amazing. lot of money and most people don’t realize that. A lot of people say, well, what do you get paid to be on the radio? And the answer is zero. I don’t get paid to be on the radio or television. We are so concerned that the gospel will get out, that our staff that are right now here working with this program at this moment volunteer their time.
I volunteer my time and we take all of our funds and put them into getting the message out. It’s very, very expensive. I just don’t know how to be able to say that, but it is a very, very big venture. It’s much bigger than my church. Some people say, well, does your church take care of the program? Well, if our entire church budget were given to the program, we’d still have to cut back by 75% of what we’re doing.
It’s much bigger than my church. So maybe that helps answer the question. We do need your help and we could really use your help at this time. If you’d like to be a prayer partner, we’d love that because we know God hears and answers prayer. But we also need financial partners that will give a regular monthly gift and help us to keep this program going. And thank you, thank you, thank you in advance because you the listeners are the ones that make this whole program possible.
If you all stopped giving today, we’d be off here tomorrow. It’s just that vital. And I wanted to let you know that and hope that you would consider being a Bible and partner. If you give just a little bit, it would help. If every believer listening to the program that enjoys it would help a little bit, that would be great and assure that the program stays on the air in your area and also assures that we can continue to expand and take this message to the world.
I’m Dr. England Strimb. This is Bible Eye and the phone number is 1-800-576-3771. We have david incinci p and david welcome to bible and you’re on the air i like to respond to the guy a couple of calls ago i can’t do dvd uh… and i didn’t get the promise and dvd i just got a dvd sick old christianity the first two thousand years ago that uh… bonds and old was a clear water okay it’s on tv all the time the first thousand years but i got the whole thing and it’s it’s that the only reason that the so-called catholic and they were called catholic according to dvd the Christians were gathered together because Constantine ordered them because he wanted the established books of the Bible put together in the one book and he wanted the editing process, what sin and what’s out.
And they were forced to do this. They were reluctant to do this on their own. Constantine wanted to, you know, because they were afraid of Constantine. They weren’t sure. By the way, Constantine was worshiped and anything and everything. And that’s no reason to get together. And if they’re such good stewards of the Bible, how come it took Luther for the rest of the statement get the read the bible for ourselves and then since then they got this code book called the catholic ism which you gotta be a lawyer on steroids even get that i was brought up a kind of all about it and it sounds like a passion of the state just check out just to just go to the catholic website go to go to protest arrest like this look at the general discovery channel learning channel history channel just look at the documentaries on their own and try and have it open mind
i think you got to get a grain of salt with every kind of you know source of stuff. You got to check it out for yourself in the Bible. But I also learned, and they may sound like Catholic fashion, but I wouldn’t trust anybody who was a steward for the Bible who tried to keep the word from me for 1600 years. And at the same time owned and operated during this time, some of the Catholic churches owned and operated brothels.
And there’s a lot of other things I can bring up, but then I would just sound like I’m making this stuff home, but I’m bashing them. But I went to independent sites. I didn’t get this first Christianity thousands of right here back pre-Catholic it doesn’t barely mention catholic suggest it puts it in context of everything and they may be slanted and biased but i didn’t go looking for trouble or look for dirt The first pope, if you want to …
not much than he was, but if you wanted to make an argument for Peter, James is a better argument. You know what I’m saying? You know what I’m saying? You know what I’m saying? You know what I’m saying? He’s making an argument for him either. He presided over the first … I counseled her in Jerusalem and I … In the next chapter 15, it wasn’t Peter, but it was James that was the one that presided. You’re absolutely right.
When I say Peter was thepend, and they also say, what’s this thing, you’re posting a confession sentence to this and that, it’s just like they take these things and they only look at it for what the Catholic priest tells and what it means and any other scripture that helps support that and then they’re like horses with blinders on it. Look, I’ve been on that road. I was confirmed to Catholic. There’s a lot of great people that are Catholics. Matter of fact, the best education I ever got of the spiritual was that a Catholic church.
And so my niece now is just going to become a sister. You know, what can I do? I don’t know. Anyway, you know, some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet are Catholics. Some of the best acting for Christ like people are Catholics. But the thing is, when they distort their own history, and then you know, as a matter of fact, if it wasn’t for Gutenberg, it wasn’t for current technology, will we still have the Bible now? I doubt it.
It wasn’t for Luther and the printing press and common knowledge and technology, will we We all will be talking about the Bible now or we will be talking it through some holyRAFT or a robe and through the catechism. Well, you’re absolutely right. The Catholic Church has been discouraging people from reading the Bible over the years and they tell you which they truly believe that you can’t understand the Bible nor can you interpret it. Only the magisterium that body in Rome can interpret the Bible and so even the priests can’t interpret the Bible.
He has to tell you what the Catholic Church teaches about the Bible. You really get misled. You have to disregard that and go to the Bible for yourself. But obviously for many, many years people did have the copies of the Bible. When that clinician thought he had destroyed the Bible, and Augustine comes along and asks for manuscripts that came out with 50 pristine manuscripts, 1, 2, 3, and there were obviously many, many more. So the Word of God never was destroyed.
and it continued and people were able to read it. But during the Dark Ages, which is called Dark because of spiritual darkness, the Catholic Church really had kept the word from the people. But in the earlier times, it was translated by Jerome in the fourth century in the Latin so that people could read it. And but there was some dark times and the Reformation obviously really sparked things up from about the 1300s on and of course, Lord Luther in the 1500s, then it began to break open and we had a time of real enlightenment again getting back to the Scriptures and what they taught.
Thank you for your call David. We appreciate it. The Bible of course, limits in abiteth forever and ever. I think that God has always made His truth available to those who wanted to find it and He still does today. They have Jim in Clearwater, Florida, and he says the two reporters that were released in Gaza renounced their religion and converted to Islam to get freed. Is this okay? Well, obviously they’re alive as a result. But you know what is interesting in Islam is that you are allowed to lie as long as it furthers the cause of Islam.
So I guess in a sense, they practiced something that is commonly done all the time in Islam and that is to lie to further your cause. And they certainly did that. Obviously the Bible tells us we’re not to lie, but they immediately when they got over here have a brief, again, they have renounced their conversion to Islam which saved their life. We’ll have to see what God says one day about that. Kevin in Tampa, Florida says, explain Hebrews 6, 4 through 6.
It’s talking about believers, Kevin, that it’s impossible once you’re a believer to go back and become saved again. Why? Because you’re already saved forever. Some people teach that this teaches you can lose your salvation. When it says, if they fall away, it’s not talking about from salvation, which is impossible, but it’s talking about from your steadfastness, from your assurance, from your confidence, which Hebrews talks a lot about. And so if you get away from serving the Lord and you are not steadfast as you have been, what you need to do is go back and become a servant again and serve the Lord.
But it’s not talking about going back and being saved. To renew that change of mind, that repentance took place when you got saved, the Bible says it’s impossible. If you attempted to do that, you’d be crucifying Christ again to yourself. Obviously he’ll never be crucified again and you’d put Christ to an open shame. So that would be wrong. So it’s saying that you can’t become saved again. One lady told me that she had lost her salvation seven times. And she took this verse in Hebrew 6 as a proof text that you could lose it.
And when I read the verse out loud to her, I put on my sad face and I said, oh, my heart goes out to you. I am so terribly disturbed for you. I don’t. I just don’t have to. words to say. She said, what do you mean? I said, if this passage means you can lose your salvation and you said that you’ve lost it, and you said you lost your salvation, then this verse says it’s impossible for you to get it back.
So it looks like you’re going to hell and you can’t get your salvation back because it’s impossible. And all of a sudden she switched and said, well, she came close to losing it. She didn’t really lose it. But you know, if you say that it It means you can lose your salvation, then it’s saying that you can never get it back. And certainly that’s not the interpretation. If you read verse 9 of that chapter, it says we’re talking about things that accompany salvation.
Verse 10 says, God is not unrighteous to forget your labor of love. When you live for Christ, He will not forget anything you’ve done, but He’ll reward it. And He’s talking about not going back and becoming saved again, but getting back on track and serving again. I’ve written a paper on it. I’ve called it Hebrews 6, 4 through 6. It’s on my website. You can download it and read it. It’s a thorough study. And I think you’ll get it clear from there.
Vinnie in Hudson calls in off the air and he says, please explain 1 Peter 1 2. And I’m heading to 1 Peter right now. Chapter 1 verse 2 says, elect according to the four knowledge of God. What is interesting here, Vinnie, is that we’re not foreknown according to the election of God, but we’re elected according to the foreknowledge of God. In other words, we are not foreknown because God has already made the choice in advance. I might say that at three o’clock this afternoon I’m going to go to the grocery store and buy groceries.
Like that, I know that because I have made that decision in advance. But that’s not the way God operates. It says, in the lecture, according to the foreknowledge, God already foreknew before any election took place. And so what I’m saying here is that God knows the future. He knows who would believe and who would not, but He did not make you a choice for you. I hope that made it clear, but you have to think about it a little bit.
Sometimes it’s a little bit deep and goes right over most people’s heads. thank you for that call we have now brad waiting on a cell phone and the being patient from clear water uh… brad welcome to bible uh… good morning pastor lunchtime i’ve been listening in on your radio station and i have a couple questions uh… one night the uh… it would be the truth is about the uh… uh… cap of church and the brothel and my second question is um…
if you have um… Is it okay to go to the Lord Jesus Christ and our self control? If you feel you need that attention, I’ll hang out and listen to your response by radio. Well, absolutely. Certainly the Lord is the one who wants to give us victory over sin and over habits. And we need to call upon him and certainly he can do that. The Bible talks about the Holy Spirit being able to give us victory over sin in our life.
and definitely we need to call upon the Lord for help in those areas. About the brothels, the Roman Catholic Church has been guilty of all kinds of heinous crimes down through history. All you have to do is read some of the history and encyclopedias and Fox’s Book of Martyrs. There used to be in the Halley’s Bible Handbook, a very fascinating history of Roman Catholicism, And you’ll find that there were sometimes as many as three or four or five popes all at one time claiming to be Pope.
Some of them were incestuous having practicing incest and rape and everything else. And there were some dark days in the history of Catholicism and the popes themselves committing awful grievous sins. But that’s just history that anybody can read. It’s not anything new. A lot of people that have become The Catholic Church has been educated into Catholic history. We have the pedophilia in the Roman Catholic Church saying that perhaps as much as 40% of the priests are gay. And obviously, look at how many young boys have been molested by Catholic priests.
It’s become a real embarrassment for the Roman Catholic Church today. for the Roman Catholic Church today, but certainly The major issue with I think Catholicism is they teach a works-based salvation That salvation through the church and through the sacraments and not by the one-time death of Christ at Calvary and that obviously Means that they’re consigning all of their people to hell if they believe Roman Catholic theology We have a wonderful book here in our resource center called understanding Roman Catholicism where it covers 37 of the major doctrines from the catechism of the Roman Catholic Church, the most recent one, and shows verses from scripture on each of those doctrines, and you’ll just be shocked at how far a divide there is.
In the catechism, it talks about 10 commandments, and then when it asks what they are, it quotes it, It gives you 10 commandments, but they really have done a deception in the Roman Catholic Catechism. They drop the second commandment and they take the tenth commandment and split it and make two out of it. So they give you 10 commandments, but the one about having graven images and idols, that one has been taken and removed. They have dropped that one totally.
So obviously that’s a deliberate thing because obviously the Catholic Church is full of idols and full of graven images and they didn’t want to obviously have that commandment in the list. And so they eliminated it. They just took it out. You know they had to be deliberate and that’s certainly wrong. Alright, we’re going to go to some more all-fare questions here. We have David in Palm River calling in and he asks about Luke 9 and I’m turning there right now in my Bible, Luke chapter 9 in verse 62.
Luke 9 verse 62 and let me see if I can find that verse here, I’m almost there. It says, Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God. This is talking about discipleship and it’s talking about service and it’s saying that if you are, for example, plowing a field and you take your eye off of where you’re going and you look back, obviously you’re going to have a crooked pharaoh and you’re going to really mess up the planting of the seed and so on.
And basically the same thing is true. If you are a servant of the Lord and then you look back and take your eyes off of the Lord and off of what you ought to be doing, then you are not fit as a servant. But you are saved by faith apart from works. And you are saved forever because of what Christ did for you, not because of what you do for him. But here is talking about servanthood after you are saved and how you are not a fit servant If you can’t stay focused and keep your eye on the Lord and live for him.
Alright we have anonymous in Bradenton Florida and says please explain the sin of the woman in Luke 7. Okay, I’m pretty close to that when you see what sin we’re talking about. In Luke 7 in verse 37 it says, Behold a woman in the city which was a sinner which When she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the fairs whose house brought an alabaster box of ointment, well, it doesn’t say here what her sins were. I think in this case many speculate that it might have been prostitution, but we don’t know.
It doesn’t say in that passage, so I cannot explain the sin of the woman because it doesn’t really say in the text exactly what it was. it is speculated that she was perhaps a prostitute. Off the year, Linda in Brandon, Florida, calls in, isn’t ungodly for Christian couples not to have children. Not at all. I think that a couple may not be able to have children. That is a problem that’s happening more and more today when there’s infertility And that’s something that you can go to your doctor for.
Perhaps they can help you with that, but it’s not uncommon. But obviously if you don’t have children that is not a curse, and certainly… You can just have to resign yourself to God’s will. Or you can adopt. And a lot of couples have adopted children that could not have their own. But sometimes Satan prevents childbirth. We know in the case of Abraham and Sarah that Sarah was not able to bear children. We think because Satan closed up her womb so she couldn’t.
So he could block the promise that the Messiah would come through Abraham. him seed. But of course we know that God miraculously intervened and told Abraham that his wife for him. Sarah would become pregnant and Isaac would be born. And they both, well Sarah laughed because she said, you know, how would that be? She was already 90 and passed the age of childbearing. But it’s not ungodly for children couples not to have children. But if you are purpose, preventing it.
Maybe then that would not be right. But the Lord certainly wants us to have the blessing of children. That’s something you can do by adoption if you’re not physically able to have them. To Rome in Oakwell, Virginia calls in and he says, please explain John chapter 5 in verse 8. And so we’re going down to John’s Gospel, chapter 5. And in John 5, in verse 8, I’m almost there. It says here, Jesus said in him, rise, take up thy bed and walk.
Well, I think that’s pretty straightforward. I’m not too sure if that’s the verse you’re talking about here. This particular fellow here, the impotent man, was at this pool which you can see the remnants of to this very day. They’re in Jerusalem and it talks here about putting him in the pool to be healed. That was a tradition, whether it was true or not, whether you’d be healed by stepping into that pool or not. It was not the case, but Jesus, of course, told him to rise and walk in Christ himself, healed this man.
So Christ did the healing. He had been there at this pool hoping for a healing that might have come by being at that pool. I hope that helps Jerome call back if I didn’t get that right. Rick in Richmond, Virginia calls in, says what happens after the thousand year reign of Christ. And the answer is this present earth will be destroyed Revelation 20 verse 11. Then we find in chapter 21 verse 1, a new heavens and new earth are created and the New Jerusalem are city that we’ll live in, we’ll come down from heaven and we’ll live in that city and have access to the universe and to the new heavens and new earth.
And so there’s going to be a wonderful eternity for believers after the thousand year reign of Christ. We now have Mike in St. Petersburg. Mike, welcome to my mind. You’re on the air. Yes, you know, the deceitfulness of our own heart and how can we know for sure that than given that we can be self-deluded and self-deceived, that we have exercised saving faith. And can we just be mistaken even knowing that we can be self-deluded? Well, saving faith is faith in Christ.
And so today we have so many that are into Calvinism and they focus on the fifth point of Calvinism, which is the perseverance of the saints. That’s unscriptural. And they’re saying that you’re eternally secure or eternally saved based upon the fact that you will persevere as a believer. I’m eternally saved because Christ persevere is not me. If our salvation were dependent upon us and our Christian life and our persevering, then we’d probably all lose it. Christ is the one who perseveres and it’s because he lives forever to make good on his promise and because he lives forever and will never break his word, that’s why we’re eternally saved.
So if you’ve placed your trust in Jesus alone and his shed blood as the only means of your salvation, then you can be absolutely assured. 1 John 5, 13 says, these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. So you can know that you have it, and that’s based on what God has said. You can believe His promise and be assured of going to Heaven, Mike.
So saving faith is faith in Christ, and if you’re looking to your works, As a confirmation that you have a saving tape, that is a false view. The perseverance of the saints is not a difficult doctrine. I believe it’s false. And it’s something that people have bought into, and it’s not. And I think we’re out of time here. And so we have a lot of other offer questions. We’ll have to catch them tomorrow. And I wish we could catch them all today.
But we are going to have to depart. I hope everybody listening has trusted in Jesus and he is the Savior and when you place your trust in him and cancel any trust in any other thing or any other person, God saves you and you can know it because God says so and it’s not based upon our works or our future. Salvation is received by an act of faith at a point in time and is not dependent on your continuous.
