The New Testament distinguishes between having the Spirit, which is true of all believers, and being filled with the Spirit, which is the believer’s privilege and duty. The Word of God is truth and we must check all experience against the Word. Are you saved? Put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. God will forgive you and give you his Spirit. Do it today!

We hope that you are taking advantage of the CDs and the DVDs and all the other materials we have to help you grow as a believer and take advantage of that drive time in your car. Just stick that CD in and listen as you go to and fro work and from the grocery store wherever you go. We’re going to open the Bible up for a moment and we’ll take a look at some scriptures.
One of the neat things that I want to do is to make sure that you’re able to get the information out of the Bible and you’re able to get the information out of the Bible. doctrines of the Bible is what is called a ceiling S-E-A-L-I-N-G. That’s a hard word to hear. Ceiling S-E-A-L-I-N-G, ceiling of the Holy Spirit. At the moment you trust Christ, at the moment you trust Christ, you are sealed with the Holy Spirit. My friend, that is a guarantee that you can never be lost.
Let me read it to you. Ephesians 1.13 says, in whom you also trusted, After that you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also after that you believed you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise. Now what is interesting here is this, the tense is not real clear in the King James. This really should read, and if you have a Scofield, it’ll point that out in a margin. That’s why I like the Scofield so much.
It helps you with some of these things that really didn’t come across well in the translation in the King James, but it should read, having believed you were sealed. Having believed you were sealed. In other words, simultaneous with belief, simultaneous with trusting Christ. It says here, you heard the word of truth, the gospel. When having believed that gospel, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. Well guess what? That means you are God’s possession. The word seal is used in the New Testament and in the Old Testament in the Bible in the symbolism of Scripture.
First of all, a seal signifies a finished transaction. If you ever buy a home or whatever, you know they put these document seals on your contract and that means it’s done, it’s settled and it’s obviously a done deal when you trust Christ as your Savior. Also it implies ownership. A seal shows that you are the owner or possessor of eternal life from the moment you believe and also it implies security. You would have to be stronger than God the Holy Spirit to cause somebody to be lost once to become saved because the Holy Spirit Himself is the seal and you are sealed with the Holy Spirit at the moment you believe.
But if that wasn’t enough, look at Ephesians 1-14, the very next verse which says, which is the earnest. Now the word earnest is an old English word, we don’t use too much anymore, means down payment. If you are buying something and you put a down payment down, it is called Earnest Money. It is money that you put down saying that you are not fooling around. You mean business, you are going to complete the sale. And guess what? If you do not complete the sale, what happens to your down payment, your Earnest Money?
You forfeit it. Now think about this. The Holy Spirit is given to you and me at the moment of belief as an Earnest Payment, A down payment on our salvation, if God doesn’t complete that salvation, then God has to forfeit the Holy Spirit to you. That would mean if you went to hell, the Holy Spirit would go to hell. That’s not going to happen. Think about it. Connect the dots here. The Bible says, having believed you were sealed with the Holy Spirit.
At the moment you believe. That means that you are a believer and therefore a transaction has been completed and the The Holy Spirit has been transferred now into your body and he seals you as God’s possession. It implies ownership, it implies security. You are safe forever to break that seal. You’d have to be more powerful than God himself. God the Holy Spirit is himself the seal for the believer. But then we find it also goes on to say he also is the earnest or the down payment of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession under the praise of his glory.
What it’s saying there is that we get a down payment guaranteeing that you’re going to wind up in heaven one day. I can’t understand people who believe that they can lose their salvation. They obviously haven’t understood what the Bible teaches. God doesn’t offer a a trial period or probation you offer salvation. If it isn’t everlasting life he gives, then he’s certainly called it by the wrong name, but the Bible teaches at the moment at the instant of belief you receive everlasting life.
And if it’s everlasting life today, it’s going to be everlasting life tomorrow, it’s going to be everlasting life next week, it’s going to be everlasting life next year, it’s going to be everlasting life next 100 years or a billion years or trillion years, it’s forever. And so once you trust Christ, my friend, you’re stuck. You have to go to heaven, whether you like it or not. Ephesians 1, 13 says the Holy Spirit seals you, and you become his. At the moment you trust the Lord.
And he also is the down payment, which means if God did not complete, he’s an earnest about your salvation. He’s going to complete it. The Bible says in Philippians 1, 6, he’s going to complete that, which he began to do at the moment you trusted Christ. and he doesn’t complete it, then he forfeits the Holy Spirit to you. If you wind up and held, the Holy Spirit has to go to hell with you. Never going to happen. Never going to happen.
You can’t be lost once you become saved. I’m Dr. Engman’s from the survival line. I’m so glad that I’m saved. I’m so glad I heard this message. I was 18 when I trusted Christ. I received eternal life at that very moment. I still possess it and will forever. I was raised in church. Never heard this in my church. I was confirmed and baptized, demonetized, pasteurized, capsized, and colonized. You name it, I went through it, but I wasn’t saved until I understood the gospel message.
When I heard that message and believed it, having believed, I was sealed. Ephesians 1 and 13, with the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit also is the down payment on my salvation. If I should ever lose it, God would have to forfeit the Holy Spirit to me. That’s just not going to happen. God has given us God Himself, the Holy Spirit, as the down payment. To guarantee this salvation is going to be completed, there is no doubt that I am going to be in heaven.
And my future is absolutely secure. How about yours? I love that hymn, Blessed Assurance. Blessed Assurance. This is my story. This is my song. What a song that is. to be able to have assurance and know that you’re saved and know you’re saved forever. Well, in any case, we have a lot of callers waiting to get on the line here. This is Bible and I’m Dr. Engfins from the phone numbers 1-800-576-3771-1800-576-3771. We’re going to go to Steve in St.
Petersburg and Steve, welcome to Bibleline Year on the Air. Oh, Dr. Hank. Yeah. This is Steve, or in St. Pete, I really don’t have a question. There’s just some things I’d like to tell your listeners about Bibleline if I might take a minute. Fire away. Okay. I’d just like to let them all know that when you say you’re working out of a small humble church, it’s the truth. The first time I went there I didn’t know what to look for, but I drove past it.
It’s so small that you work out of an office that’s the size of most of our bedrooms, that his equipment is we have better media equipment in most of our homes than he has. And that all the people that times don’t get through, they get angry, they shouldn’t. The only upgrades I’ve ever seen there, I had the honor of working in it. The equipment wouldn’t work if God wasn’t sitting right in the room with him. He drives an old Ford van that’s outdated.
He doesn’t have an entourage or a limousine. He takes all callers. He listens to every question. matter what it may be and he’s just as kind off the air as he is on and I’ve never seen anything but every penny that comes in and a donation or a gift goes right back to air time, a large chapel that we’re used to looking at on Sunday mornings, work you guys do over God bless you and God bless the show. Well thank you Steve, God bless you.
We are what you see, what you hear, we’re for real. You really realize that when you say your staff it’s usually two, maybe three volunteers. They have this idea in their head like I did. There’s 40 people running around doing all this work. It’s not true. No, it isn’t. I’m sitting here with my Bible in my lap and I have two guys across the desk here answering phones and making things happen here. But otherwise it’s just three people here and we’re going out all over the world.
The Lord is really good to bless us to be able to accomplish that. And you like to say, we need equipment upgrades and things like that to make it better. But we try to make sure that we get this message out. First, that’s our first priority. Exactly. I want to make clear to your listeners that, you know, if they’re like me, they’re thinking you’re in this huge chapel and you have this big media room and it’s just not so most of our bedrooms are bigger than your office.
So, and our home media equipment is probably better than what you have in there. So, they need to know that when they donate their money is truly going to get the gospel of Jesus Christ out to everyone. Well, thank you Steve for sharing that with our listeners because, uh, We really have a lot of people come and they, is their mouths dropped and they’re shocked that we’re able to accomplish what we do because we really just focus all of our attention on getting this message out as far as we can.
And we’re thrilled that we’re reaching all over the world now, which is really an amazing miracle of God. Yeah, I’m looking forward to when your church goes on the streamer so I can watch on Sundays. Yeah, that’s coming up. We’re going to be webcasting our morning worship service and that should be happening probably within the next four weeks or so. So we’ll be announcing that on the radio loud and clear and hopefully that’ll be a blessing to you. Yes, sure will.
Thanks a lot. Thank you, Steve. That was Steve in St. Petersburg and I remember when he came over here and volunteered for some time when I had things on vacation or something and that was wonderful. We have Randy in Tampa, Florida. Randy, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning. Good morning. Just wanted to, something you had said and commandments. You had said something second commandment out of the Ten Commandments, and you thought it was brave in images, and not to bow down and worship the graven images.
How are the Ten Commandments? and it’s the ten kinema men that is you show them in in actuality it was calvin in the reformers that added the graven image uh… command that has the second commandment because they wanted point out that the catholics were worshiping statues and taking great man images uh… i don’t know very very far from the truth catholics do not worship statues uh… a statues nothing more than like a uh… if you see a war statue like us It helps you admire what they had done and that’s nothing.
That’s exactly what a statue is to a Catholic. We have, we take a look at the Lord. You know, I’ve been to St. Peter’s and there’s this huge bronze statue of Peter and they come up and kiss his toe. That statue is so large that the big toe, apparently one time you can tell from the other foot was about four inches long, it’s down to a little nub Now can you imagine three and a half inches of brass being worn away by I don’t know tens of thousands of maybe hundreds of thousands of people kissing it and rubbing it and They’ve worn it out.
I just couldn’t imagine I certainly would on a candle I saw if I got lying there, but everybody’s kissing with their mouth and they’ve gone How many germs are spread but no doubt about it? They are idol worshipers, and if you go to the book of Exes, the Old Testament has been around. The then-seascals confirm what we have is accurate today, being written a couple of hundred years before Christ. At least the copies that they found in the then-seascals.
And the 10 commandments are intact, including that we’re not to make any graven images. You need to go back to Exodus chapter 20, and you’ll find that in the commandments, as given in the Old Testament, which predate Calvin and everybody else there. It says here, Thou shalt make, verse 4 of Exodus 20, Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, or that is in the water unto the earth.
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them. I am the word thy God and I am a jealous God visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children under the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. And if you go to the catechism of the Catholic Church, that commandment is gone, but they take the tenth commandment, which is also not Deluxe, and make two separate commandmentsarentablishment of–>that and give you ten commandments. But it’s definitely a slight of handachusetts and a deliberate deception, I believe on the part of the Catholic Church to do that.
Thank you Randy for calling. We have Mr. Anonymous now down in Sarasota, Florida and welcome to Bible Young. Hey, Dr. Hank. Yeah. Hey, I got a question about, I’ve just been recently married to my wife for two years and her mother has been divorced and has gotten into a lesbian relationship. Well, they’ve been in a lesbian relationship for like 20 years or something. And a lot of times we get into these battles over like the same. They believe that they can and I’m always arguing.
they get that i’m a uh… only use a little bit frequent when i want to come up with the type of situations i think that i think number one is you gotta lead them to christ because uh… the unsafe person really doesn’t have much spiritual insight at all and uh… that top of me and i bet that not a thing they’ve said that they love price is much or more than i do i mean they’ve they’ve said it they’ve born again and and just as uh…
I hope that they are and if they are then you have to read the scriptures to them. Let me read to you Leviticus chapter 18 where it says, Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind. It is abomination and it talks about women with women or men with men that this was a crime punishable by death and was an abomination in the sight of God. God. So certainly if they love God, Christ said you’ll keep my commandments and obviously they are not keeping his commandments in the Word.
God says this is totally an abomination and is not to be practiced. So they’re violating, they’re talking out of two sides of their mouth. It’s like a fork and tongue. They’re saying in one breath they love God but then they don’t keep his commandments. First, God says if you say you’re keeping his commandments, If you love him and you don’t keep his commandments, it says you’re a liar. So they’re really lying to you. They’re not being straight up. If you really love the Lord, then you’re going to keep what the Bible says and follow it.
If they feel like they have that they’re treated this way, which I don’t believe, they at least need to practice abstinence that they can’t have a lesbian relationship because that’s forbidden in the Bible. I think the thing is that the Bible says that it’s wrong and that they’re not to practice that and they just, if they love the Lord, they’re going to obey that. It’s not like I don’t confront them so much because they don’t want to really deal with me.
It’s me trying to explain to the children that they think she’s fine and there’s nothing wrong with it. I tried to road, you know, but it’s like a spiritual battle obviously. Oh yeah, well we’ll just pray for you. I know it’s a difficult one. You just need to obviously realize that God loves them. And if they truly do trust the Lord of Savior, they’re saved. But I would question that certainly and make sure you ask all the right questions to make sure they really have understood the gospel and truly are saved.
And if they are, then the Lord will chase them for their delinquent behavior and they’re certainly going to be held accountable and suffer loss of reward when they stand before the Lord for having violated the Scriptures. So I certainly wouldn’t want to stand too close to them if they’re going to continue to just openly in God’s face disobey what He tells us to do. So thank you for that call. We appreciate it. And there’s a lot of that today.
It’s amazing how Jesus nailed it when He predicted that the end times would be characterized by being as they were in the days of Lot. And when you read in Genesis chapter 19 about Sodom, obviously the people there were very depraved. It was obviously the word Sodomy comes from that town’s name Sodom and God thoroughly destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and the other cities there because they were all corrupted with this crime. By the way, also, it seems like God brings fire and brimstone down upon that particular type of a sin because it’s happened many other times.
You don’t mount Vesuvius when Pompey was destroyed. That place was a haven of homosexuality. And generally, every society before it completely falls and goes off the scene has a homosexuality rising the Roman Empire before it fell was filled with homosexuality and Pompeii was an example of that in 8070 when Pompeii was overrun by the gases from Mount Vesuvius when it erupted. Also we know that Greece. He was filled with homosexuality and when it fell and so on down through time, that’s always been a sign, a symptom of a society that’s departed far from God.
And I think we see that in America today. We have lots of all fear questions here. We’re going to try to get to all of those that we possibly can. And Melanie near Utica, New York calls in and says, in the qualifications for elders, must the man be the husband of only one wife, meaning not divorced. I believe it is that meaning. Some try to say one at a time, but I can’t buy that. I think it’s one wife means exactly that.
When Adam and Eve were married, he intended that to be a lifetime relationship and never intended for divorce. The Bible says in Malachi that God hates divorce. And so it’s quite clear, although God allowed it because of the sinfulness a man’s heart. God never intended for divorce and for elders and deacons. They are to be the husbands of one wife. We’re going to go to break and come back and do Bible on part too. I hope you’ll keep on listening and if your station doesn’t carry the second half, then I hope you’ll go to the internet and you’ll be able to catch the full hour program here of Bible on.
We’re going to take a short break. We’ll be right back. Keep your radio out tuned right where it is. I’m Dr. Englunds from Mrs. Bibleline. We’ll be back in just one moment. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. I’m Dr. Englunds from I hope you’re enjoying Bibleline. We’re enjoying bringing it to you. This is Wednesday and our television day is tomorrow and you can watch us on the dish at 7 a.m.
Eastern Standard Time nationwide on Angel 1 on Sky Angel. If you’re in the Tampa Bay Area on Channel 32 at 8 o’clock in the morning, at 6.30 in the afternoon, Eastern Time, we’re on DirecTV, Channel 321 World Harvest Television, and we’re on every Thursday at 6.30 nationwide on DirecTV. Also at 7 on the West Coast of Florida, we’re on threat all the West Coast of Florida on cable and we can be seen everywhere. Plus now we’re streaming our television programs as well as our radio programs on the internet.
So you might want to check that out Bible on Ministries dot org and you’ll find that last month we had 13,045 listeners through radio on the internet. Isn’t that exciting? And also now our television audience is growing on the internet which the quality and and the sound audio is excellent. You’ll have to check it out for yourself. Go to the website BibleLineMinistries.org and click on that TV set in the upper right hand corner and you’ll be connected directly to a page that will have TV on the left, radio on the right and the archives and everything.
You can just watch and listen to your hardest content. Bible Mind is listeners supported we really are lean and mean here we just don’t spend money on things that are non-essential and we spend almost a hundred percent of what we get just right back out into getting airtime and paying for the equipment cost and phone bills and all the things that we have to pay for to make this program work but we hope that you will maybe consider praying for us and being a financial I believe you are going to share equally with us here at Bible on as you pray for and give to this ministry.
That is really the principle taught in the Bible. You will share with us. Isn’t that exciting? I really think it is. As we give our monies wisely, God is going to bless you. If you give to organizations where the gospel is wrong, that is a negative. You are going to lose reward in heaven. The Bible says you’ll be held accountable for giving it where you shouldn’t have been giving it. Isn’t that interesting? Well, Second John 11 tells us that don’t bid Godspeed those who teach falsely or you’ll be a partaker of the evil deeds and you’ll suffer negative consequences as a result.
We’re going to now join our other stations that have been on break and do the second half of the Bibleline. So keep your radio tunes right where it is and we’re going to be doing the second half of the Bibleline. right now so stay tuned. Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, I’m back from the break and this is Bibleline and I’m coming to you live from our studios in Tampa Fort at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor.
Would love to have you drop mine. See our headquarters were located just a block west of Tampa’s international airport. So if you can find the airport in Tampa, which is a major obviously target to aim for to look for, we’re right on the West side. Combine CS. Our resource centers open every day till about 4.30 in the afternoon. We have folks come by and we just have a great time getting to meet them and they get a chance to meet us and we get a chance to of course show off Bibleline and to acquaint them with our resource center.
We have lots of great stuff in our resource center we’re ever adding to it and we got some great stuff that will be really dynamite in your library as you grow your resources to be ready to give an answer to those that you talk to about the Lord. So I hope you will take advantage and come by. If you’re ever in Tampa for business or pleasure, take that extra minute to drop by and say, hi. And by the way, you can come by on a worship day and we worship on Sundays at 10-30 in morning, 6 p.m.
in the evening with Adult Education and Sensicle at 9.15. This Sunday, this first Sunday of the month, we observe the Lord’s Supper. If you’re in driving distance and you want to observe the Lord’s Supper with us, that will be at 9.45 and be over at 10.15. Our worship service then is at 10.30. And so there’s a 15 minute break between the Lord’s Supper and the morning worship service. We just had a great baptism this past week. We have 44 people baptized by immersion in the late just north of our church here and we are looking forward to another large group being baptized on the third Sunday in September.
If you have not been baptized since your salvation experience, you might want to call and get your name on the list for the up and coming baptism here in September coming up. 17th of September, the third Sunday in September. We’ll be having another baptism at 3 in the afternoon. You’re welcome to participate with us. We have lots of things going on here. We’re going to be streaming our morning worship service in the next month here sometime. That again is going to cost some equipment and other costs, but we’ve had so many calls for people that say, You just can’t find a good sound Bible shaped believing teaching church.
And while you’re on the search and while you’re looking for one, we hope and pray that you find one to fellowship with. But until then, you will be able to watch our worship services live from Calvert Community Church and the messages that I bring here where we have Bible and Headquarters and that’ll be every week you’ll be able to see those right on your internet live as they happen. It’s exciting. So these things are obviously very, very important. We have callers waiting and so we’re going to go to Mary in Dunedin and Mary.
Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hello. Hi there. Hi, my name is Mary. I have a question. Go for it Mary. I’m sorry. We talked about the pathway. I take a move and a raise in reaction. I think we’re moving a little action. Father, this is going to have Jesus hanging from the cross around and laying through the land. Well, I agree with you. I think Christ being kept on the cross is symbolic of the fact that they crucify again every time they offer up the Mass, which is a blast from me against Christ.
Jesus Christ was crucified, but then he came down off the cross, was buried, and after three days rose again, and he’s alive forevermore. I have a cross behind our pulpit and sanctuary here where we have Bible on and it’s an empty cross. It’s a plain cross just symbolizing the means by which Christ was crucified and died to pay for our sins. But certainly we don’t keep him on the cross because he’s… I can’t remember what Christ thinks to go ahead Jesus on it.
Well it shouldn’t be. I think they ought to take Christ off the cross. The Catholics keep him on earth. So Mary, thank you for that call. I appreciate that. And I agree with you. Jesus came back from the dead. We have Jose down in Riverview, Florida. And Jose, welcome to Bible Eye. Hello Jose. Oh good morning Dr. Hank, how are you? Good. Good. I just want to ask you to get a prior call and I said that you have a very small church.
I have been to the church and I was surprised to see that it was a small church. I was expected to see a large building. Oh, Megaturge, we’re not a regular church. Right. Right. And the thing is that I used to be a Catholic. I was born in Spain and then I can testify to the fact that the worship that today they Today they’re pretty much falling away from Catholicism. They pretty much believe in nothing they become an atheist.
But those that do believe, they do worship idols. They go to churches, they kiss the statues, they have professionals in the summertime and the holy… the Holy Week. They they they imitate the suffering of Christ worship Mary Mary Mary I dollar tree I believe it’s called and so forth. I told you pretty much tell you that. I know they do and I’ve been to Spain and I’ve been to Toledo and I have seen what you’re talking about and it happens around the world.
And some counties are just in denial. They don’t want to admit that they do it but they do. And they certainly worship and pray to Mary and certainly all that is forbidden in scripture. And that second commandment has been there since Mount Sinai was carved into those two stone tablets and it didn’t get changed by John Calvin, that’s for sure. And furthermore, if I have yet to, or my family is Catholic and I tend to witness about Christ where he’s done, who he is, what he represents, that his life is in life.
He lives through us that the purpose for living is to glorify him and so on and so forth. they have gotten it and it’s true that is super natural life and let’s get to you you don’t have it it cannot be humanly obtained it is the binary maybe you have to be alive and got this the one that keeps you alive and then you can do you can have understanding but in that moment they can’t be such in such a darkness and that there is a white person in europe and at large they pretty much embrace about everything the new age movement is making tremendous I believe that.
I believe that. Well, thank you very much. Thank you. We are little, but we have a large voice. I can call our church the little church with a big bark. But we run the 2,200 and 300 here in our worship services, but we’re not a large mega church. We have John in Seminole, Florida. John, welcome to Bibleline You’re On The Air. Hello. My name is John, Dr. Hank. I left a church in Seminole after confirming it with a couple of other Christian friends.
And including you I called and had to leave the church just because they were one of these churches that preached that you had to in order to be saved. And if you’re not baptized, you’re not going to be saved in the church. And I said, I know it’s a test that’s actually done for you, but I just don’t buy into the fact that unless you are baptized, you’re saved. So I left. I went to another church, she’s going on.
I actually went to your church and felt great. I mean you had a real good sermon and you’re a little over an hour away which is I guess okay. I guess I’m just going to have to continue doing that until you get your internet thing up. I mean how do you feel? You feel about, I mean if I can’t find a church that’s offering some of the right teaching. I know definitely that you’re not to go to a church with bad doctors.
So obviously it puts the people in a bind when if you go where there’s wrong doctors the Bible says come out and be separate or you’ll be a partaker of their sins and of the punishment that God will hold on new for that. It says in Ephesians 5-11 it says have no fellowship with the Unfruitful Works of Darkness. But rather reprove them and Romans 16 verse 17 it says mark those which have doctrine, and contrary to what you’ve learned from the Bible and avoid them.
So obviously we’re put in a box there. But there’s got to be someplace, you know, you just have to, on your search, we pray you’ll find one. But in the meantime we’re going to make our church service available for people that cannot find a good church and and they are far away enough that they really is not convenient to drive here but that we’re just gonna we’re gonna be that we’ve just had to keep searching you say keep searching but uh…
hopefully our worship service on the internet will help in the meantime okay thank you john all right that was john and seminal uh… that is a problem today you know it’s a good timothy chapter four says that the time would come and it has come when they would not endure sound doctrine. But after their own lust, they would heap themselves teachers having itching ears. And they would turn away their ears from the truth and be turned on to fables.
We see that happening today. And it’s very, very difficult to find a Bible-believing teaching church anymore sound in doctrine. And it’s a part of the in-time prophecies where there would be a departure from the the body of truth as containing God’s word. First Timothy chapter 4 verse 1 says the Holy Spirit speaks expressly, then the latter days. There would be those who would depart from the faith. That is the body of truth as containing God’s word and we are seeing it happen.
Mark in Bradenton calls in and says, did you know or did God know that Adam would fall? He was talking to a Jehovah’s Witness and said that God did not know. Well, That is incorrect. God is omniscient. He knew that Adam would fall. And if you read the New Testament, it tells us that God before the foundations of the earth, before Adam and Eve were even created, he planned the redemption plan of Christ coming and dying to pay for our sins.
So God knew that Adam would fall, but he also in his love made provision for our sins through Christ. And he did that before he ever created Adam. So obviously he knew and the witnesses again strike out. Another strike out for the Jehovah’s Witnesses. They are wrong and certainly don’t attend Bible studies taught by them or you’re asking for trouble. We have Charles up in Richmond, Virginia and Charles, welcome to Bibleline. Welcome. I understand you’ve been having radio problems up there.
Is it clear today? It’s clear today Dr. Hank, I hear you on WGGM. You know you changed stations recently here right the other station went Spanish or something yes, yes, but anyway We hear you pretty loud and clear, but we we had some problems last couple of days I believe was yesterday. You had a some problems, but anyway, I hope they get those problems worked out I do too. I just called to Ask you a question about why do you think we don’t hear much about?
about your apostasy in the days that we live in from? I think that they don’t realize that they’re in apostasy. I think they’re just, it’s a crazy thing. There’s a blindness coming, whereas we approach the Lord’s return and Satan is getting a tighter grip. I think people are blinded to what’s happening. They just don’t see it coming. And the churches don’t even see that they’re missing the mark. The great commission I called the forgotten commission and most churches aren’t even trying to carry out the commission to carry the gospel and all the world today.
And it’s just a sad commentary on what’s happening but it’s which we could remedy it. That’s what we’re trying to do here at Bible. I love people know that, hey, we need to get back to the Bible. We need to get back to evangelism. We need to get back to telling people about Jesus Christ. Yes, and another big piece of this as far as mainline churches go They they say the apostles creed But they don’t want to ever mention the second coming of Christ And if you mentioned the second coming of Christ as a member You’re kind of pointed out as somebody who strange Isn’t that a shame you know it’s one of the major doctrines of the Bible and And it is crazy, isn’t it?
Because obviously, every New Testament book tells us that Jesus is coming again. And the early Christians certainly taught it and looked forward to it as we should be doing right now more than ever. I think that’s the reason the church grew so fast in the early church that they were expecting Christ back. And they were so excited about that that they were telling everybody. Amen. I think it’s a hot one. I’m playing with Dr. Hank and I’ve seen it in a little contribution and I hope to do some more of that in the future.
Well thank you and I’m glad you’re listening up there and I’m glad they get those radio problems sorted out. We love our audience. I’ve been Richmond and we’re glad you’re listening and enjoying the program. Well thanks so much for bringing us the truth. Alright, God bless you. Bye bye. It was Charles up in Richmond, We’ve had lightning struck their equipment and they’ve had a time here for the past couple of weeks here getting that all clarified. Stephen, Tampa calls in.
He said, you said last week that baptism is a work. Where is that in the Bible? Well, in Matthew chapter 3, verse 15, Jesus said to John the Baptist, allow us to allow me now to be baptized that we might fulfill all righteousness. So clearly it is a work of righteousness Christ was fulfilling in being water baptized if you read Matthew 3 15. Then if you go over to Titus chapter 3 verse 5 it says not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to his mercy he saved us.
So baptism is a work of righteousness and Titus 3 5 says we are not saved by works of righteousness. And so some churches teach water baptism is essential for salvation, but salvation is not of works. It’s not by works of righteousness. And baptism is a work of righteousness. Look up Matthew 3.15. All right, we have Kevin in Tampa, Florida. And he calls in and leaves it off for a question. The question is on Hebrews chapter 5. I’m turning there and I’ll be there in just one second here.
I’m almost there. Hebrews 5, here I am, and the question is on verses 4 through 6. It says, and no man, this is chapter 5 verses 4 through 6, and no man take it this honor upon himself, but he is called of God as was Aaron. Talking about the Levitical priesthood that God, of of course chose Aaron, the brother of Moses, that down through his lineage out of the tribe of Levi, these would be the priest. And it says in verse 5, so also Christ glorified not himself but to be made a high priest.
But he that said unto him, Thou art my son, to day have I begotten thee, as he also said in another place, thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek, that God himself decreed Jesus to be the high priest. Just as God also didn’t let any group of men say, hey, I think we’ll be the priest here, but God chose Aaron and it would be through the lineage of Aaron that we would have the priest. Hopefully it helps a little bit, Kevin, that Christ didn’t come on and say, I think I’ll be a high priest.
was decreed by God before Jesus was ever begotten, God in flesh, the begotten is speaking of the fact that Mary became pregnant because God fathered that child and so this was a sinless child, the God the God man, the Lord Jesus Christ, who God had already designated to be a high priest for us before he ever came into this world. We have Karen in Tampa, Florida. She needs help with the verse 2nd John 1 verses 8 through 9. This has come up a lot lately, she says.
I don’t know where in her church or where, but 2nd John. This is only one chapter long, but it is a wonderful book and full of information. We’re going to be there in one second here. I’m almost there in second John Chapter 1 verse 8 that says here and My pages have stuck together. Let me see here second John Verse 8 says look to yourselves that we lose not those things which we have wrought But we that we receive a full reward this talking about believers that we need to be responsible and it’s saying here not look to your neighbor or look to your church or look to your pastor but look to yourself.
You need to be careful that you are living your life in such a way that you can receive the maximum reward that you possibly can and I really truly believe every believer can receive as much reward as anybody else. I think God takes into account our talents, our abilities, the amount of enlightenment we’ve had and so on and if If you do your best job, I think you can receive as much reward as anybody else, but you need to look to yourself so that you don’t lose out on rewards you could have earned.
Then verse 9 says in 2nd John, Whose whoever transgresseth that’s everybody in the human race, that abideeth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. Well, that applies to the Jehovah’s Witnesses. And according to this verse, they don’t have God. Can you imagine Jehovah’s Witnesses without Jehovah? That’s exactly what’s going on here. It says they don’t abide in the doctrine of Christ. They reject Christ. So they don’t even have God. Then the verse goes on to say, he that abided in the doctrine of Christ, he have both the Father and the Son.
Then it says that if somebody doesn’t bring this correct doctrine to you, you’re not even to let them in your house and you’re not to bid them God’s name. So obviously we’re to reject the cults and their teachings because they do not abide in the doctrine of Christ and therefore they’re not saved and they don’t even have God. Thank you, Karen, and I hope that helps a little bit. Off the air we have Lorna in use this Florida. He listens to a radio preacher that says something that bothers her and wants to know the answer.
He says we need to keep the fourth commandment of the Sabbath. And of course, he must be seventh Adventist. The seventh Adventist like to pick and choose, but we’re not saved by keeping the 10 commandments. So that doesn’t mean we’re to break them, but we’re not under the law to keep the 10 commandments. Nobody’s ever been saved by the commandments. Let me give you a great verse. Galatians 2, 16 says, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, for by the works of the law shall know, flesh be justified.
Let me also, Lorna, have you turned to Colossians 2, 14 through 16, and because Christ took the commandments and nailed them to His cross and took them out of the way, Colossians 2, 16 says, let no man therefore judge you in respect of meats or drinks or of the holy days or it says even of the Sabbath. So don’t let anybody judge you concerning whether you observe the Sabbath or not. That was taken and nailed to the cross. Colossians 2, 16.
The other verse was Galatians 2, 16. And then, need another turn out, chapter 2 verse 16, and Galatians, and chapter 2 verse 16 in Colossians. Otheor Shana in Tampa calls in, after you are saved, what should we do to live for Christ? How do we know what we should be doing? Well, obviously you need to read the Bible. I would read the epistles in particular, which pretty much outline things you ought to be doing. If you have my website, you can go to the articles that I’ve written, and I have just From one chapter, first Thessalonians chapter 5, I’ve listed 26 things that that chapter tells us that we ought to be doing.
And isn’t that wonderful? So there’s lots of instruction in the New Testament record. And you can look for the Latter-day checklist for believers, 26 things that believers ought to be doing that come out of just one chapter. First Thessalonians chapter 5 lists 26 things that we ought to be doing. John in Charlotte, Michigan calls in and says, narrow is the way. If salvation is easy, then why did Jesus say it is narrow? Why is it difficult? Well, it’s not difficult, it’s narrow.
What he means by that is that there’s only one way to heaven and I’ve been told many times down through the years, boy, you’re narrow minded. You mean to say the only way to heaven is Christ, that’s right. So if you trust in any other way to get to heaven, Mohammed can’t get you there. Buddha can’t get you there. Confucius can’t get you there. He can choose any religion you want. They’ll all take you to hell. Narrow means there’s only one way to heaven.
There’s nothing difficult about it. It’s easy. Some of the newer translations have translated it difficult or hard. That’s a totally different concept. Narrow is contrasted with the many different false ways it’ll take you to hell. Christ, and you might want to make this cross-reference, John, In John 14 6 Christ said I am the way. So it’s narrow in that it’s exclusively through Jesus Christ. Well, we’ve got through some of the affairs, but we have a lot more and we’ll have to take them tomorrow.
