Bibleline Radio Show – 2006-09-06 – An Accursed Message

Most Christians are not aware of how serious it is to add to what Jesus Christ has finished! It is the difference between whether or not a person is saved. It is the difference between heaven and hell.

Welcome to Bibleline with Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Coming to you from Calvary Community Church in Tampa, Florida, declaring God’s love through radio and television, providing real answers to an ever-searching world. Got a question? Dial toll free at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here’s the host of Bibleline, Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Good morning and welcome to Bibleline. Great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning in. We are coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor.

We look forward to meeting with you every day on the radio and we hope that you will take advantage of being able to come by and visit our resource center during the week. If you are not in the Tampa Bay area, you can visit that resource center online by going to my website, BibleLineMinistries.org, and there on the online bookstore you’ll see pictures and descriptions of all of the things that we have in our resource center. We believe we can save you a lot of time and effort because I have bought thousands and thousands of books, but our resource center has condensed all of that down to about a hundred books that we feel are the most valuable, the best bargain for the money, the most valuable information you can have that are doctrinally sound and you might want to take a look.

And of course you can also call in and ask for a resource sheet to be sent to you. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida and our studios are located here in the Calvary Community Church, which I pastor and we’re just a blocked west of Tampa’s International Airport. So if you can find Tampa’s International Airport, you can find Bibleline. We’re just a block west, in fact, about a block due west of the control tower, and a block west of the perimeter road, which is Eisenhower Boulevard.

The next road over, running north and south, is George Road. There we are, nestled in at 4811 George Road between Memorial and Hillsborough avenues. You’re welcome to come by. The third Sunday of the month, we have a lunch right after the morning service, a wonderful covered dish affair where everybody brings their best home cooking and you can come and be my guest. Just come at 1030 for the morning worship, bring your family, your appetite, your Bible and then join us for the lunch dinner that will happen right after the worship service.

And this third Sunday we’re having a baptism. If you have not been water baptized since you have been saved, then you ought to be baptized by immersion in obedience to Christ’s command. This is a testimony of how you are cleansed of your sin by the blood of Jesus Christ. That’s right, nothing can wash away your sin, but the blood, water won’t take away your sin. If you’re depending upon water baptism to get you to heaven, my friend, you’re in trouble.

We could anchor you out in the Atlantic for years and it wouldn’t take away a single sin. The Bible says in Jeremiah chapter 2 that even if you take strong soap, yet your iniquity is marked before me, say of the Lord. We could scrub you down, soak you for years. It would not take away your sin. Only the blood of Christ could wash away your sin. If you were baptized as an infant, it doesn’t count. There’s no such thing in the Bible as infant baptism.

If you were baptized before your salvation experience, it doesn’t count. Because what were you giving testimony to? The fact that you were unsaved? Oh, it doesn’t make sense. Believer’s baptism is done by somebody after they’ve been saved as a testimony of the the fact that they have been cleansed of their sin by the blood of Jesus. We invite you to participate in ours if you’d like. I’d be very honored and humbled to be able to be the one to baptize you.

Call our church office or the Bibleline 800 number and you can get your name on the list and find out what is required. Actually, we just need to know that you’re saved and we’ll be glad to baptize you. We’ll be baptizing in quite a number of people, young and old. And so there’s no age limit on this, at least at the upper end. We generally don’t baptize young children unless their mom and dad are really convinced that they know what they’re doing and they’ve received Christ as their Savior.

We’re excited about streaming and we are streaming, if that means anything to you. Our radio and television programs to the internet so you can watch us 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Just going to call yesterday from friends up in Pennsylvania and they listen to us there on the internet. And we have that kind of feedback coming all the time from people all over the world. In fact, we have 143 countries now that have logged on to the website.

In July, we’re waiting for the August information, but in July, we had 13,045 listeners to Bible line on the Internet. Isn’t that exciting? Now, our television programs are there as well. By the way, tomorrow is our television day. We have Bible on TV on tomorrow morning at 7am on the Dish Network nationwide on Angel on Sky Angel. At 8 o’clock in the Tampa Bay area, we’re on more television channel 32. That’s at 8 o’clock in the morning in the west coast of Florida.

And at 6.30 pm eastern standard time, we’re on DirecTV, nationwide, World Harvest Television Channel 321. We get calls from as far away as Alaska, all across the western part of the United States, from California to Washington and then everything in between all the way over to Massachusetts and Maine all the way down to Florida and everything in between you are welcome to tune those in plus We have the seven o’clock p.m. Presentation in the west coast of Florida on the Christian television Network so Thursdays are television day.

I hope you’ll take advantage and watch at least once But by the way if you go to the internet you can actually watch this week’s program before you actually see it on television. That’s right because we are showing the program for the week beginning at Sunday morning 12.01 a.m. every week. That’s when it rolls over as far as the internet and our television program. And guess what? We’re ready to almost ready atrust to stream our church service. You’ll be able to see the church service with me preaching the word of God from Calvary Community Church Bible and Headquarters on the Internet.

Keep looking and waiting for that announcement and shortly you’ll find that on the website BibleLineMinistries.org.com. The Bible teaches that there is a real hell and certainly it ought to be motivational to us to win people to Christ in these last days. You know Jesus spoke more about hell than He did about heaven. That’s because He didn’t want anyone to go there. Christ died so that no one would have to go to hell. Does anyone have to go to hell?

Well, really not really because Christ died to pay for the sins of every man, woman, and child that would ever live. And all that would put their trust in Him would not perish but have everlasting life. But my friend, sadly, too many people die, having not trusted Christ as their Savior, and yes, they will spend eternity in a lake of fire. You know, in Matthew 2541 is described as everlasting fire. In 2 Thessalonians 1, 8, it’s described as everlasting destruction.

That’s in verse 9 of 2 Thessalonians 1. It’s called a place of torment in Revelation 1411. It’s called the lake of fire in Revelation 19, 20. It’s called the second death in Revelation 20 verse 14. It’s called a place of eternal damnation in Mark 329. It’s called a place of unquenchable fire in Matthew 3, 12. It’s called a furnace of fire in Matthew 1342. It’s called the place that’s prepared for the devil and his angels in Matthew 2541. It’s called the blackness of darkness forever in Jude 13.

It’s called the place of everlasting punishment in Matthew 2546. It’s called the place of everlasting damnation in Daniel chapter 12 verse 2. It’s called the place of everlasting contempt in Daniel 12 2. and so on and so on and so on. And by the way, if hell is not everlasting, then God is not everlasting. In other words, everlasting that is attached to these descriptions of hell is the same word everlasting that refers to everlasting life, the everlasting spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, the everlasting God, the God of the Bible, the God of creation.

And so if hell hell is not everlasting, then nothing is everlasting, and we’re all just wasting our time. But hell is real. You know, a few years ago, the Church of England… He was about three or four years ago. They declared that there was no hell. Isn’t that amazing. Apparently, they got together in a boardroom and their chief executives of the Church of England decided there is no hell. Made headlines all around the world. I remember somebody sending me the headlines from the Chicago newspaper, Church of England declares there is no hell.

They said it was actually psychologically damaging to tell somebody there was a place of everlasting torment. Amazing. Well, not too far behind the Anglican Church followed suit and numerous other churches, including the Episcopal Church, declared there was no hell. Guess what? Are they going to be in for a surprise? Just because you declare there is no hell doesn’t do away with hell. Declaring there is no hell does not put out the flames. I’m a goodness, how can people be so foolish?

You know, you can declare that you have done away with gravity, but go ahead and try and jump off a tall building and let’s see what happens. Your declaration that gravity is no longer in effect will not change the fact that when you leap off that tall building, you’re going to have a sudden stop that’s going to ruin your day when you hit the bottom. You know they say it’s not the fall that kills you, it’s that sudden stop at the bottom.

Well don’t let yourself wind up in hell because if you die without Jesus Christ my friend you will go to hell. A lot of people say well I believe in God doesn’t that do it for me? My friend you have to believe more than in God. You have to believe that God sent his son to die for you and it’s the gospel message just the message of the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Christ that brings about salvation.

It says in 1 John 2, 23, whosesoever denyeth the Son, the same has not the Father. So if you don’t have Christ, you don’t have the Father. Whoa! Goodness sakes, should we tell the Jehovah’s Witnesses? Can you imagine? They don’t have Jehovah. They don’t have Yahweh because they deny the Son. Second John, verse 9, also a great one, says if you don’t abide in the doctrine of Christ, you don’t have God! Can you imagine? Should we tell the Joes witnesses?

They don’t even have God. They’re godless. That’s right. If you don’t have the Son, you don’t have the Father. If you don’t have the Son, you don’t have God. If you don’t embrace Jesus Christ as being God, if you couldn’t took on human flesh and went to the cross and shed his blood to pay for your sin, you’re not saved. You’re not going to heaven. But you know God so loved the world that you had made that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever any of us that would believe in Christ, that is the trust in Christ and his shed blood at the cross would not perish but have everlasting life.

And you say, well, what about people in other countries? What about them? people and other cultures. What about them? The Bible says in Peter, Peter 4, 12 says, neither is their salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven. Give it among men, whereby we must be saved. Doesn’t matter if it’s any place under heaven. You’ve got to be saved through the name of Jesus, or you’re not going to heaven. You could do it right now.

You could whisper prayer. You could tell the living God. God, I believe Jesus died for me. I trust him right now as my Savior. I believe he died and shed his blood at the cross for my sins was buried in rose again from the dead. I trust Jesus Christ right now to save me, to give me the gift of everlasting life. The moment you do, God save you. And then by the way, you need to make a second choice to trust Christ.

After you trust Christ, The second choice is to live for him and that brings about rewards and blessings. The first choice is to trust Christ. The second choice is to live for him. The second choice has no bearing on your salvation but it has everything to do with rewards and blessings and your effectiveness, your testimony and your walk and you’re discovering God’s will and you’re seeing God working through and in you as a believer but salvation is a free gift.

the strings attached, you simply trust Christ and my friend you are saved forever. I am Dr. Inchtinsen, this is Bible and we are going to go to the phone and take our callers. You are welcome to call us at 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. We have Garland in Zephyrhills, Florida, calling in, asking if I would explain Hebrews 6, 4-6. Stalking there about believers. It gives us five marks at their believers. They’ve tasted the word of God, they’ve received the heavenly gift and so on and so on.

So clearly I believe these are saved people. It says it’s impossible if they fall away. The Father is saved. If they fall away, the following way is not from salvation. That’s impossible They’re very clear verses. You know whenever you have a difficult verse like Hebrews 6 4 through 6 apparently It must be so many people struggle over it. You always interpret it in the light of a clear one and The Bible says nothing about falling from salvation in fact you’re safe forever and cannot be lost because Christ keeps you saved.

Jude chapter 1 tells us that he is able to keep you from falling. From salvation, you cannot fall. God is the one that keeps you saved and keeps you from falling. But in any case, it’s talking about getting away from the Lord, no longer serving the Lord, and maybe falling from your steadfastness, falling from your confidence, falling from that assurance that the believer ought to have and can have by believing God’s word. Well, it says it’s impossible for you to be renewed under repentance.

What it’s saying here is it’s impossible, Garland, for you to become saved again. What you need to do is start serving again. So if you fall away from your confidence, you need to get your confidence back by believing the promises of God. If you fall away from serving, you need to get serving again. But you don’t go back and try to become saved again because if you do that, it says you crucify to yourself, to yourself. The Son of God of Fresh and put him to an open shame.

You are really saying that Christ, one time death at Calvary, was not sufficient to save you eternally. That is really a blasphemy against Christ, to say that his one time death was not enough, not sufficient to save you. as the Bible tells us his one-time death was completely sufficient to save you eternally once you trust Christ as your Savior. So that’s what the answer is all about is really telling the listeners or the readers of the book of Hebrews which were primarily Jewish believers that if they got away from the Lord they needed to not go back and try to become Savior again which is impossible because you save once and for ever once you trust christ but you need to get back and start serving again if you have internet access garland go to my website my blind ministries dot o r g click on the doctor linsham’s articles

and look for hebrew six four through six and there’s an article where i go into great detail on that passage and i think you’ll find that very very helpful paula in uh… st pete isberg calls in and she says in first Samuel, please talk about the Spirit that was taken away and how he was given an evil Spirit. Well Saul disobeyed the Lord and in the Old Testament the Holy Spirit would come and go as the Holy Spirit would empower somebody for service and Saul was a believer and Saul was saved, and Saul did not lose his salvation, but he lost his kingdom, his sons and his own life in the battle against the Philistines, and his blessings, his joy, and got allowed this is the key word, Satan to send an evil spirit to plague him.

By the way, we can be demon influenced as believers, but not demon in dwell. The Bible tells us in 1 John 4, 4, greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. That’s greater is he the Holy Spirit that’s in the believer than he that is Satan that is in the world. So no demon wants to dwell in the same body where the Holy Spirit indwells. But in the Old Testament the Holy Spirit can come and go.

David even prayed after his sin with Bathsheba and Psalm 51, Lord, take not thy Holy Spirit from me. So the Holy Spirit would come and go, but in this age, beginning at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit comes to indwell us permanently, forever. And obviously the Holy Spirit will not leave us. But sometimes when we sin, God can actually allow Satan. The Lord told me to bring about a judgment upon you which is God’s chastisement upon the delinquent believer. Saul was delinquent and he lost everything but his salvation.

We know that when he talked to Samuel at the witch of Indoor, Samuel said that he would Saul join him the next day when he was going to be killed in battle. We know Samuel was saved, so Saul went to be with Samuel. Obviously Saul was a saved man. Bert in Windgate calls in and Bert says did Constantine start Catholicism in 321 AD know the church at that time was not divided but there was a division that came as there was a bishop in Rome and a bishop there in Constantinople, which is now Istanbul.

And as time went along, about the sixth century is when Roman Catholicism became what it is today, and the other Catholicism is the Greek Catholic Church. And that was the Eastern Catholic Church. Those kind of came up along together both buying to be the one world church but Roman Catholicism There were believers in Rome obviously from the get-go and there were believers also in the Eastern Hemisphere But the Catholic Church as we know it didn’t begin till about the 6th century AD Thank you for that question Bert.

We have Carter in Saint Petersburg on the line Carter welcome to my one year load of the last yes Yes, this is Carter Bryan. I was listening to your broadcast day before yesterday, I believe. I don’t know. A gentleman called in and he was having a hard time accepting the fact that, you know… You know, you’re not following and you’re messing up, but you’re not doing what you were implying, or you said that the Lord will take you out if you’re not going to turn to and do as you’re supposed to.

Yes. And he seemed to have a problem with that. The reason I’m calling was I wanted to exemplify the fact that you were right in that I have the experience of my… myself hope the gentleman is listening in today I can emphatically verify that that almost happened to me and it was certainly more than just a wake-up call. At first I couldn’t figure it out. I dropped into a coma. and I lost fifty seven pounds in ten days. Wow.

Yeah, it was… Went in with sight. Some of them were cellulitis because my thumb got punctured and they wanted to admit that I was just giving some pain pills and antibiotics. I get to rid of this myself. Two hours later I was beating on the door letting me in. My whole arm is slowing up. It just got three months later, three nursing homes and three hospitals. I finally came back out. But in the end… But in the entry and while I was in there, I went into this coma because of the cellulitis and septicemia.

When I came out of the coma, my daughter had flown in, she’s a nurse, she’d flown in from California to say goodbye. And I heard this, it sounded like a jackhammer going off in my head. I mean, the sound was just excruciating. And I opened my eyes and there was my daughter standing at the end of the bed. And all she had done was whisper my name. And she stood aside and there was her mother, whom I hadn’t seen for some 40 years.

Which was a pleasant surprise, but it was a very good surprise. You know, what was… what was the coma and going through? Well, I couldn’t act too surprised because I couldn’t do anything. But what I’m getting at is… The pontificate over what had happened. And at first I was a little disgruntled to say the least. Didn’t allow me to talk to you in a couple of years now. It allowed me to stay here and simply be one reason being the law.

And I really didn’t think it was that precious to him because there’s plenty of Christian. Christians running around right now that certainly are more equipped and better equipped than I am, at least in my own estimation. But I did find out that he won’t put up with any nonsense. I got a bag full of bad habits and I’ve had to work on those and I can be a blessing to His Kingdom. Amen. But if I’m not going to be a blessing to his kingdom and I’m going to bear a choice what he has.

I know. I got to go to break down. But thank you Carter for sharing that personal testimony by how God chases the delinquent believer and in love. He does that to bring you closer to him and to allow you to be a great testimony. We’re going to go to break. So please don’t go away. I’ll be right back after this short intermission. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771.

So give our operators a call and get your name on the list and plan to get baptized September 17th, the third Sunday of the month. Come in the morning, join our worship service, stay for lunch, wonderful, wonderful time of fellowship and eating. And then at three in the afternoon we’ll have the baptism and we’d love to have you be there participating with us.

Again, pray for Bible and we are totally dependent upon our listeners for the support that it takes to keep this program going. I don’t get paid, our staff doesn’t get paid. We really try to use every penny to get this program out to the world. And we’re about ready to stream our webcast, our worship service, so that that will be available to you as well. So lots of things are happening. Everything seems to cost money, and we wouldn’t appeal to you except that we need your help.

Without the partnership with our listeners, we’d be off the air tomorrow. But every week it’s a miracle as we see God supply through people just like you who say, I like this program and I believe it needs to continue and I’d like to be a part and I’m going to invest in eternity by giving a gift to Bible and hopefully on a regular basis that would help us to have a consistent income to be able to take care of the expenses of Bible and we’ve been talking to Carter and St.

Petersburg who is telling his own personal experience as a believer of God interfering in his life and bringing him back to the Lord. And so we’re going to go back and continue with Carter here and then take your call. Carter, are you still there? Yeah. Okay. We had a good break. Yeah, that’s cool. I’m just laying by. So apparently you really got more than a wake up call. Oh, yeah. Yeah. we consider a definite workout call. It’s not that every month we’ll be certain.

But the Lord does that. It says in Hebrews 12, 6, for whom the Lord loves the chases or disciplines and scourges every son whom he receives, but he does it because he loves He loves you. Oh indeed. I know that. Mind’s gonna. He has to love me. Pull up with me. Well, I’m glad you shared this with our listeners. I think that is very powerful to have somebody tell the first-hand experience of their the Lord working in their life and I’m sure you’re a happier person now.

Oh my God. I can’t tell you. I mean it’s just, you know, after this situation and I finally got a grip on it, it was to the point where I couldn’t understand it at first, but after I finally got a grip on it I was just, I’ve been blessed so much by it. Because I’ve, you know, I just have been given wisdom. Amen. And it’s, man, once you get a little bit of wisdom, that’s what I pray for all the time.

Amen. And from what I’ve been able to, God really does love me and He has for me to perform before I check out of here. And I’m getting real close to finding out exactly what it is. That’s exciting. I appreciate your calling. I got a little calls waiting. I was waiting, but I’m glad that you shared that with us, and I think our listeners have been blessed to hear your testimony today. Thank you, Carter. Yeah, listen, you reckon he’ll have that on a little later.

So later I’ve got a gal here that’s going to some horrible circumstances and I thought it would bless her if she could just hear. Sure. This is on the internet, and we repeat it for the next month, of course, and we hope that you’ll be able to take advantage of that. Thank you so much and that was Carter giving testimony of the Lord’s interfering in his life as a believer bringing him back to the Lord. We have Jason in Williamsburg, Virginia.

He’s been waiting for quite a while. Thank you for your patience. And Jason, you’re on the air. Yes, sir. Thank you, Dr. Hank. The reason how calling was ever If you’re starting through it and Dr. McKee said it was a pretty fit, you would be to you or have you exit G mark 949 and 50 most specifically first 49 and is that referencing back to the sacrifice that they’re in the book to a fit of kiss and I appreciate it now just listen all right I’m gonna turn there right now it’s chapter nine of mark verse 49 and 50 yes all right we’ll do that right now for you.

Mark 949 says, everyone shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. Salt is good, but if the salt has lost his saltiness, wherewith will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another. Well obviously, is a beautiful illustration of what were to be. Christ says in Matthew in the Sermon on the Mount that we are the salt of the earth. And a similar type of thing here that if we obviously aren’t impacting other people, you know, food without salt, it tastes pretty bland.

You had a little salt on there and it just perched it right up. And we are to influence people around us for Christ. And so therefore we are the salt of the earth. And we know that the unbeliever is going to be cast into hell and separated from God forever. And we that are believers are to be an influence upon unbelievers that they might come to know, Christ is their Savior, while they’re still living so that they don’t wind up in the eternal hell.

You know, just prior to this, Christ is speaking about a place where the soul will not die and the fire will never be quenched in verse 44 verse 46 and chapter 9 verse 48. And we find here that the unbeliever is going to be cast into hell, but the believer is left here to have an influence on the world about us so that we can lead people to Christ. Thank you Jason for being so patient and for calling in today.

And we’re now going to go to William or Wilburn rather in Richmond, Virginia and Wilburn, good to have you on the air. Good morning, God bless. Apparently our signal in Richmond is going good again. Yes, it’s going strong today so I’m happy about that. I tried to listen in on Labor Day and down here I believe they were running a rerun program from Friday and then when I checked on the internet I was surprised to find that you did work on Labor Day.

Yeah, we were live. So that was a surprise. But anyway, just whatever the office is. Let’s see. Well, I was calling because I had a question about salvation. It seems like some of them were, or if any of the pop disciples were all saved at the beginning of the ministry of Christ except for Judas was never saved. But Andrew led Peter to Christ and and you see Christ inviting these men to become his disciples after their salvation experience as a second decision.

But Judas and John 644 we learned that he was never a believer. But no, I believe we were all saved. But Peter didn’t get converted until after the resurrection which has to do with the Christian life. So I don’t like to use the term conversion with the lost. It can be used in Matthew 18 it used, but there is clearly defined as a conversion to become childlike in faith, interesting Christ to be saved. And it doesn’t refer to a change of life to be saved as so many churches teach.

We don’t change our lives to be saved. We trust in the death of Christ at Calvary and then of course we can have the power that victory ever sent in our life and to be able to redirect our lives into a life that is going to be pleasing to the Lord and bring glory to Him. So salvation is a gift and again rewards are earned by discipleship or servitude and as believers who ought to be living for Christ. Hope that helps.

I was also wondering when you say trust, certain trust doesn’t trust have the components of of of of of of of of of of of of things believing that Jesus was the Son of God believing that Jesus is believing in his life. Which would be his his ministry is death. Is barrel his resurrection. Aren’t those the components of trust? Well, that’s who we’re trusting in. If you’re distrusting in a palm tree to be saved, you’re not going to be saved.

But we trust in the person of Jesus, God who took on human flesh, sinless, perfect, who went as a full grown man to the cross and gave his life, shed his blood, paid for our sins, was buried and rose again from the dead. Absolutely. That is all a part of it. All right. Okay. All right. Thank you. Thank you. That was Wilburn in Richmond, Virginia. We have Alan in Tampa. Alan, welcome to Bibleline. Good, Alan. Great. I’m afraid of mine and myself.

We’re talking about some verses in the Bible. And would you look up Mark 1616? Sure. And I… Sure. And by the way, I’m not a church of class. I know you do not have to be water baptized. But of all the verses in the Bible, this one says that heat that believes and is baptized shall be saved, but heat that believes not shall be damned. To me, that’s gotta mean, can’t mean water baptized. No, I believe that’s what I believe.

If you read the context of Mark’s Gospel, Alan, in verse 8 of chapter 1, it says, and John the Baptist there is speaking, he said, I indeed a baptizer with water, but he that cometh after me shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit. So that’s the last mention of baptism in the book. When you get over to chapter 16, Christ is already back from the dead. He is the one speaking here in verse 16 of Mark 16, and he is saying here, he to believe if then is baptized obviously with the baptism that he baptizes with, which is the Holy Spirit will be saved, but he to believe it not shall be damned.

Now obviously, water doesn’t save, and numerous verses would bear that out. Mark, rather than Matthew 315, Jesus describes water baptism as a work, that he was going to do to fulfill all righteousness. And Titus 3.5 says we’re not saved by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us. Titus 3.5, so if water baptism is a work which it is, then we can’t be saved by water baptism because we are not saved by works of righteousness that we have done.

And Christ describes his own water baptism as a work of righteousness. Well, yeah, absolutely. Most people, their minds lock up. When they see the word baptism, they think, water, water, water, water, water, water. I have a sheet that I’ve written several in fact that described ten different baptisms in the New Testament, and most of them don’t involve the liquid at all. There’s the baptism of fire. There’s the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and so on and so on. There’s the baptism of death, but none of those involve any liquid.

So obviously you have to read the context and in the context of the Gospel of Mark it must be the baptism of the Holy Spirit that Christ is speaking about. I agree with you. You know what I did though. I looked up in my strong concordance. And if you look up in your strong concordance, the word in that mark 1616, it’s something about water. I mean, both of those is not, but I think they translated that wrong or something.

Well I… Well I’ll have to look it up and I think the word is probably the same standard word. It means to be washed, to be cleansed, to be fully wellmed, but not necessarily with water. You have to read the context and of course the one that is the baptism that saves is the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which is the placing of the believer into the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12, 13 says, by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be bond or free, whether we be Jew or Gentile.

We’ve all been made to drink into one Spirit. So it is the placing of the believer in Christ, into the body of Christ. On that basis, we are eligible in their heaven because God sees us in Christ and therefore whatever happened to Christ happened to us as far as God is concerned we were crucified with him. We were buried with him. We are seen in his body. When we rose and when he ascended to heaven, we ascended and the Bible says in Ephesians 2, 6, we are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

So God sees us in Christ and it is that that makes our salvation secure. Well, if someone, and I agree with everything you said, if there’s any man being classed, he’s a new creation, the whole thing to pass away the photo, things to come new. That’s awesome, totally awesome about the part where the Holy Spirit comes in, and I think you have to have a word, into the word, I can’t hear him by the word. Then if you’re open, the Holy Spirit comes in and that passes you, you’re born again.

But then it says that there ain’t man being classed here, and I don’t believe you shall but how do you explain these to the people that you beat in the street that if they may be in class season in creation and you see somebody said i was saying i was born again and you never saw never saw any change i know you can have the change uh… do you think your person can be born again and never show any change well the bible says that you will show a change Well, no, it doesn’t really say that at all.

It’s… They may be a tragedy, the norvee, should they hold all things become this. Yeah. Well, if you read the context, it’s not talking about your lifestyle or your behavior. It’s talking about the conditions that existed prior to your salvation are now cancelled, and now new conditions are all existing, which are brand new. For example, I was lost, but now I’m saved. I was headed for hell. I’m now headed to heaven. I was a child of Satan, but now I’m a child of God.

I wasn’t under the law, but now I’m under grace. I wasn’t annime of God, now I’m a child of God. And there are dozens and dozens of these things where the old condition is cancelled out. And now I’m under brand new conditions as a believer. I’ve listed 39 of those in one of my sheets called Born Again What Happened, which you can download off the internet. But I’m under new conditions now. I’m under new management. I’ve been saved. And so it’s not talking about the fact that I used to chew gum and I don’t chew gum anymore.

And that’s obviously not the way most people use it. I used to drink and smoke and I don’t. That has nothing to do with what second cream is for. We just brought you to the at at at at at at at at at at at five. We got some boundaries like that, and we haven’t been in the disengaged and they’ve got a community, so we’re having to do that. And we’ve got other group of neighbors in the kitchen. We have to have to do that.

Let’s have this technology that we have to have to go into that. and jump into having to be able to do that. We’ve got to be able to get out and do that. And we’ve got a community, it’s not to be able to be able to all right. We do not want to have to do that. It’s going to make us want to have to go into that situation. We will be able to do that, though.

Well, you know, it is wonderful to find out that you’re saved once and for all about what Christ did for you. But a Christian can go in a negative direction as did Lot and so many others that are examples in the Bible. So, but I mean, every believer, honest or lord, and certainly we try to encourage every believer to make that second choice. That’s where the joy comes in. That’s where the excitement comes in. That’s where You know your your day is brightened every day as you live for him, but the salvation is a gift Thank you for calling And I have a CD where I cover all ten baptisms and You can call in and order that we could ship it out to you and I also have a Number of sheets that I’ve written on papers on baptism that are on the website, you can go and just download those off of my

website. We’re going to go to Adam in Tampa. Adam, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes sir, I just had a question you were talking about how about. In Christ’s case, the actual act of placing people out of the water is a work. And Christ said it was a work of righteousness. Christ was fulfilling the Old Testament type where a priest, when consecrated for his priesthood, at thirty years of age, would be totally immersed. Christ was exactly thirty when he was baptized by John the Baptist, and he was totally immersed, and it was the beginning of his ministry, and he was consecrated now for his priesthood, as Christ is our high priest, the Bible tells us.

So he said to John, suffered to be so now so that we might fulfill all righteousness. So he was fulfilling an Old Testament type and he was being baptized or consecrated for his ministry. Christ did no healings, no miracles, no ministry really prior to that baptism, that marked the beginning of his ministry. And in a picture of that, we, when we get baptized, it ought to be a public declaration that we’ve been cleansed by the blood of Christ and it’s like we’re now going public and we’re going to live for Christ and speak out for Christ with this brand new lease on life that we’re given once we trust Christ.

Okay and when you do the active righteousness and you do it before congregation in Matthew 6 it says be careful. Well I agree with you too it shouldn’t be done just to please an audience it should be done from the heart as a true expression. But Christ has this to do baptism as a public declaration that you’re saved by the blood of Christ. And no problem with that one. Thanks a lot Adam. And that was Adam in Tampa, Florida.

We have, uh, offer Randy and Dunedin. Uh, he’s asking about Romans eight. What is the foreknowledge of God predestination, uh, and election and Well, God’s foreknowledge is his natural ability to know the future. God doesn’t know the future because he planned the future out, but he naturally knows the future because he lives in the future. God is not bound by time. Time is one of the dimensions that God created that we are bound by, but God lives in the past and lives in the future and lives in the present all at the same time.

time. So God knows what will happen, but He hasn’t made your choice for you. So the ones that are elect, are elect according to the foreknowledge of God, but it is not a choice that He made for us, but rather because He simply knows the future, He knows who those are that would make the choice to trust Christ. But the choice is yours. When you trust Christ, become saved. And hopefully Randy that will help a little bit. The Whosoever wills are the elect.

The Whosoever won’ts are the non-elect. And we find that God before the foundation of the world knew who would believe and He chose to save everyone that would believe but He didn’t make your choice for you. That is truly your choice. We have Ray in Lakeland, Florida, and he calls in and says, what is the difference between hell and Hades? Well, hell, the Greek word is Gehenna and is the eternal lake of fire where the devil and his angels will be cast and where everybody in the human race that has died without Christ will be cast one day.

I would give you Matthew 2541. Hades is a place in the heart of the earth of the departed dead. In Luke 16, beginning in verse 19, you have that place described where both a rich man and a safe man named Lazarus the beggar went there but there was two compartments and the believers went to a place of comfort. Lazarus went there and the rich man was in flame and there was a golf that was impassable separating the two parts.

But once Christ died at Calvary, He emptied out the comfort part or paradise and now believers when they died, they’re absent from the body, present with the Lord. Well, the day has flown and we have got to run. Let me remind you that tomorrow is our television date on the dish at 7 a.m. nationwide. On Direct TV, 6.30 tomorrow, it’s nationwide.
