Bibleline Radio Show – 2006-09-15 – Repentance

Repent of Sin. This often-quoted phrase “repent of sin” does not even occur in the Bible. Most people are quite shocked to find that it does not appear in the Scripture. Nowhere does the Scripture use the phrase, “repent of sin” to be saved.

But we’re excited now about the capacity to stream and we’ll also be web testing our morning worship service and that of course there’ll be no charge for that. We have a caller from near Cleveland, Ohio in Parma, Ohio and has a question. So We’ll go right now to Robin in Parma, Ohio.

Robin, welcome, you’re on the air. Thank you, Dr. Lindstrom, how are you? Good. I have a question for you. Okay. I would like to know what role repentance plays in salvation if you believe that man is saved by undeserving mercy through faith. Well, the answer is the repentance is that change of mind that occurs when a person places their trust in Christ. The word repent comes from the Greek meta, noya. Meta means change, noya means mind. nil The word The new testament andedom and it means a change of mind.

Let me just put it this way. You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. What did I just say? You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. In other words, you can repent, you can change your mind about Christ, about how you are saved, and any number of things, and yet not believe, not trust Christ as your Savior. But you cannot possibly believe or trust Christ without repenting, without having changed your mind. So we find that the change of mind goes hand in hand with when you put your trust in Christ.

Whenever you trust Christ, you have in the process changed your mind from whatever you were previously trusting in to now placing your trust in Jesus Christ. Dr. Schofield back in 1909 in the Schofield Bible that I use has a note on repentance and he says in his final sentence, saving faith includes and implies that change of mind which is called repentance. So repentance is included in saving faith. When you place your faith in Christ, You do change your mind and that’s the role that it plays.

I didn’t know a thing about the doctrine of repentance tonight that I got to say, but later as I began to become knowledgeable about the Bible, I learned what repentance was, and as I reflected back, I realized I changed my mind about who Christ is. I never knew from my church that Jesus was God. And so that night I saw it in Scripture and I changed my mind and recognized he was more than a teacher, more than a prophet.

He was God in flesh. And then I always was taught in my church that works would get me to heaven. And so I changed my mind about that and realized that salvation was not a works. It was the gift of God. And so Robin, I changed my mind about several things and I trusted Christ as my Savior. And that was when I was 18 and that was a wonderful day in my life for sure. Hope that helps Robin. Thank you so much.

All right. You’re welcome. That’s Robin up in Parma, Ohio near Cleveland. And we’re getting more and more listeners from all over the country that are tuning into Bibleline either by live broadcast or by internet. And we’re hoping to get some figures out here for you for the month of August. We know in July we had 13,045 radio listeners on the internet. We have Jeff down in Venice, Florida and Jeff, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Thank you. somebody yesterday.

When did sin first enter the world and Adam is associated with the one bringing sin into the world. But is it fair to say that since Satan was here first, sin was originally brought out of the world through Satan, and it was not a condemning sin for mankind, but it was originally… originally here on earth so sin would have been here. He was originally…

Well, you’re absolutely right. But there’s a great verse in Romans 4, chapter 5, verse 12. I don’t know if you’ve seen that one yet. But as far as the human race, Adam is the one that brought it into the world. It says, therefore, as by one man, sin entered into the world and death by sin, talking about Adam. And so that’s a great passage, Romans, chapter 5, beginning at verse 12. There is an interesting scenario there where it goes back several times here and points back to Adam as being the culprit.

Although Eve was the first one to take of the fruit, being the head of the human race in the sense that the whole human race was contained in his loins as he is the one that would be the father of the human race passed his sin nature once he sinned upon the whole human race. by one man sin entered into the world according to Romans 5 12 hope that helps thank you very much all right that was Jeff done in Venice Florida good question and we have Linda in Clearwater and Linda welcome to Bibleline you’re on the right hi Linda hi I am really excited last night on the O’Reilly show I was listening to Dick you know the advisor to Clinton and sometimes advisor to Bush.

oultry. Yes. Was talking about Putin, the Russian king. President? Uh huh. Uh huh. rophe. Yeah. I mean President and how he is trying to control Europe to his gas lines and the way he’s doing it is he’s buying up all the gas lines. He’s laying them under the oceans, over to Germany, and he’s going to be, his aim is to control the gas so that the people of Europe have to go through him to getShar. Wow, I was unaware of that.

I know, so with O’Reilly, and he said,Servant Dick Morris said that the president doesn’t even realize. Wow. Yeah, and when I heard this because I know that Daniel and Revelation talked about the king of the north. Absolutely, and that has to be… He’s the one that will oppose the Antichrist, and he is obviously the head of Russia, and if we’re close, maybe Putin is the man. He might be that king of the North, the Bible talks about. Yeah, he said actually more than I of course knows this, but more said that he is more of a power hungry, wanting to control, I suppose, the world, I imagine, but wanting to be in charge of everything.

is more than anybody realizes that and you know he plans on using this course don’t get to do that and that’s fascinating and certainly fits in the prophecy doesn’t lend a yeah it’s a quote well thank you linda for calling in and sharing that with us okay that’s interesting you know the bible talks about the king of the north–>the head of russia actually initiating the battle of armageddon when he comes into the the Middle East against the Western dictator, the Antichrist, who I believe will come out of the United States of America.

And then we also have China, a major player, and then of course the Muslims being the fourth major power. And we can see it all just coming up on the playing table right now as we see. These are emerging as the powers, the power from the East, China, the power from the North Russia, the power from the West being Europe and America together under the Antichrist control and that fourth power will be the Muslim Islam which obviously has said itself against everybody that is not of the Islamic faith.

You’re welcome to call us. The number is 1-800-576-3771 and again let me just say that this coming Tuesday the 19th We will begin these classes. We had a wonderful class over the summer, five weeks, two hours per Tuesday, just like we’re going to do this coming Tuesday. And we taught first and second Thessalonians. That series, by the way, is available. And you might want to avail yourself of that. My past several weeks of Sunday messages have been on prophecy.

In this past Sunday was on Jerusalem. You will find that a very fast message about God’s purpose for mankind has beentncworced out through Jerusalem. You see that in the prophecies that I cover in this past Sunday morning’ssequences. :: the first coming of Christ. He was connected to Jerusalem and how Christ died at Jerusalem to redeem the whole human human. And that happened at Jerusalem. And then the second coming Christ will come back and rule the from Jerusalem. And you’ll findjoy a very fascinating history lesson as well as a prophetic lesson and how we’re connected to that wonderful city of Jerusalem.

By the way, we’re thinking about a trip leaving in March. March 12, we’ll leave for Israel on L.L., the probably the safest airlines out there, and then we’ll return on March 23 and be 12 days seeing Israel from the Stemdastern. I’ve led 13 tours, and if the Lord hasn’t come back in the meantime, or if there’s nothing threatening over there, we’re going to go. We’re going to have a wonderful time. We’ll just be together as a gang of people interested in the word.

We’ll study the Bible from morning to night at each of the very sites where biblical events have taken place. So if you’re interested, you can call the 800 number and get yourself on the list list and we’ll send you a brochure as soon as we have them in our hands and you’ll get the prices in the itinerary. But March 12th looks like we’ll leave for Israel and we’ll come back on the 23rd. We’ll miss one Sunday and we’ll be over there.

Maybe we’ll get to do some live radio from Israel. You know, there’s seven hours later in the day. So at 10 o’clock AM here, it’ll be 5 in the afternoon over there in Israel, maybe we can get near a hard-line phone and actually bring some of the experiences of our trip to our audience back here in America and those that are listening around the world on the internet by way of the modern technology today. And get that, it’ll be fun.

We’ll all be able to enjoy that together. be a lot of fun. We have now Katrina and she’s over in St. Petersburg and Katrina Katrina, welcome to Bibleline. Katrina, are you there? You’re on the line. Katrina Katrina. Yes, I… I don’t like to know where in the Bible that I can find about the different crowns that you can receive when you get to heaven. Well, I’ll be glad to give you a quick review of that. There are five crowns, Katrina, that the believer can earn.

The first is what I call the Soul Winners Crown. Got your pencil ready? First Thessalonians 2, 19 and 20, give us the crown of rejoicing, which is the Soul Winners Crown. First Thessalonians 2, 19 and 20. Then there is the Teacher’s Crown, 1 Peter, chapter 5, verse 4, called the Crown of Glory, which is given to those that will teach. If you teach your family or your Teacher’s Sunday School class or in any way you are teaching the Bible to others, I believe you can qualify to get the Crown of Glory, a Teacher’s Crown.

There is also the sufferers crown. If you suffer and yet you still praise the Lord and you are not a murmur and a complainer, but you are obviously looking for God’s purpose in your suffering and you endure those sufferings and are not wavering in your faith or in your love for the Lord. James chapter 1 verse 12 talks about you getting the crown of life which is the martyrs crown or the Supper’s Crown. In Revelation those that are killed for their faith are also given that wonderful crown.

There is also a crown for keeping your life pure. In 1 Corinthians chapter 9 verse 27 it is called the Crown Uncorruptible or incorruptible and that is a crown for being disciplined like in Olympic Athlete Wood in every day keeping focused on your purpose in the Christian life and living faithfully for the Lord, keeping yourself disciplined and pure. And that is called the incorruptible crown. And you can earn that 1 Corinthians 9, 27. Then the last crown is 2 Timothy 4, 8.

2 Timothy 4, 8, which is the crown of righteousness, which is given to those that look for and love the fact that Christ is soon coming. I believe that’s a piece of cake. Anybody that is looking forward to Christ’s return and is living their life in that expectancy can get that crown. That’s 2 Timothy 4.8 and Katrina. I hope you were able to write all those down. You’re most welcome. Katrina in St. Petersburg, Florida calling in with a question about the crowns the believer can earn.

We’re very excited that people now around the country can take the class that I’m going to teach beginning next Tuesday the 19th on meeting the challenge. We have Karl in Sarasota, Florida. Karl, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hey, Dr. it’s great to talk to you. I listen to you all the time and you’re talking about heaven and you got me curious to what your opinion is on what we would be doing. I mean, Our bodies will be whole and no more tears. I understand and will But do you think it’s going to be like it is now? It’s just perfected. Well, it’s… Absolutely no sin and you know the work is not a curse Adam and Eve were given a job in the garden before they fell, but under the curse they had to perspire and really work to To to get the earth to bring forth the same amount of results But let me give you a great verse and just let it lay here.

It says in Revelation chapter 7 in verse 15 Therefore are they before the00000000 of God sovere him day and night in his temple and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them and they shall hunger no more neither thirst anymore neither shall the sun light on them nor any heat for the lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them And she certs to the mountains of living waters. And God shall wipe away all tears from neurons.

Beautiful passage here. Revelation 7 beginning in verse 15. They’ll serve Him day and night. And so what those particular jobs are I don’t know. But I But I’m sure they’ll be very satisfying and will gain great pleasure to the Creator that we’re serving so it’s going to be wonderful and hope that helps a little bit but if it’s going to be in the new Jerusalem, it’s going to be like a perfected earth. Absolutely and we will not have any sin and nor will we have the capacity to sin.

It’s going to be wonderful. All right. Thank you called down in Sarasota, Florida and we look forward to being with you each For those of you in Pittsburgh, we may be able to bring this program to you live. It looks like a spot is opening up and we know that our program is played in the day and is not actually live for you. You hear it the same day but later in the day. But we’re excited about the potential.

We were told that the manager has informed us that Bibleline could go live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. big station 50,000 Watts and we’ll let you know if that door opens wide enough that we can might walk through it. So pray for that. Those of you in Pittsburgh and those in the surrounding areas, we get calls from either even surrounding states from that particular station because it’s so powerful a 50,000 watt AM station. That’s as powerful as they get and that’s out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

So we’re excited about several things here and of course very CVE will be web streaming our morning worship service. But next Tuesday for sure you’ll be able to sign up and get the classes that I’ll be teaching on Tuesday nights, two hours per Tuesday for five weeks, tenFirstly for seven to nine the classes called meeting the challenge. And we’re going to present what the challenge is and what if you do respond to it or what But if you don’t and will cover so many wonderful verses of Scripture…

The Bible will help you to bring you to the next level and not you up as a Christian and make you much more effective. It’s going to be great. I’m looking forward to it. I hope you’ll be in the classroom whether by internet or by actually being here in the classroom in the Tampa Bay area. But by internet if you’ll register and give them the contributory gift which will go to Bibleline and keep us on the air, you’ll be given a password that will allow you to watch the Bible.

You’ll get a password. to watch the classes live on your computer from anywhere in the world. Well, this program is coming up on break here. If you’ve never trusted Jesus as your Savior, why not just say, Lord, I am a sinner. I don’t understand much about the Bible. Just be honest. But then, telling Lord, I believe Jesus died and paid for my sins in full full by his death and shed blood at the cross was buried and rose again from the dead.

I trust him as my Savior right now. I trust him as my only hope of heaven. I trust him to be my Savior. The moment you do, God save you. Then there is a second choice that follows that has to do with rewards and the crowns that we mentioned earlier. Thatiliation comes when you choose to serve the Lord. We don’t serve the Lord to be saved. be served because we are saved by grace without works. Well we have great coming up here.

Stay tuned right where you are. I’m Dr. Englund’s Truman and this is Bibleline. We’ll be right back for the second half of Bibleline in just a moment. Don’t go away. We need that financial help to be able to pay those bills to do that. Maybe you’d like to also then be a financial partner and partner with us and give a regular gift to Bible. No gift is too small.

If you gave a dollar for every day you listened, that would be a tremendous help. Some are doing that. They’ve made a pledge to give. Although we don’t record any pledges here, people have made a deal with themselves in God and say, I’ll support Bibleite. I’ll be a part of that. I’ll help that program continue on the air in my area and I’ll help it expand outward to bring the gospel to the world. the world. Well you can call our operators and give a gift by credit card over the phone.

You can also call and ask for an envelope to be sent with our address on it and mail a check to Bible and you can also get our operators’ recited address and you can fill out your own envelope. And this is where we do the broadcast and we go with our digital phone lines from here directly to Detroit. And in Detroit they put us up on the satellite and that satellite is orbiting the planet Earth above the equator at 22,000 miles up. And then it obviously takes our signal down to the radio stations across America that are linked to that satellite and pull the signal down. And then they broadcast it over their stations. And our internet program is also the same way, coming directly off of the satellite.

We’re excited about that. And so pray as we stand out and we’re looking forward now to classes next Tuesday to mark that down your calendar September 19th. We’re having the new class called meeting the challengeAlready. about the Christian life is about bringing you to the next level, lifting you, you’re and I’m going to do greater and better for the Lord and it’s going to be teaching two hours per Tuesday night, seven till nine o’clock beginning this coming Tuesday. You’re going to charge, but the gift will go directly to supporting by blind.

If you can’t affordhtakingachine, just whisper to my ear and we’ll give you a scholarshipTemplate. We certainly don’t want anyone to not come because you can’t afford it. But now guess what? Anywhere in the country you can take the classes live by satellite through the internet. going to be streaming that program. You can call here the Bible and headquarters, register, and if you’ll give us that $50 donation to Bible and we’ll give you a code number so you’ll be able to look and view the classes as they are given live and be in the class.

If not, you can always get to see these later and we already have in house here, first and second plus saloons which we did over the summer and prior to that we did the book of Jude, the book of Romans, the book of Hebrews, all those were great. We have the book of Revelation, the book of Daniel and so many others about 40 plus DVDs of our teachings so that it’ll be helpful to you. We are now going to go to the phone lines.

We have William in Tampa and he says that he’s confused about about repentance. Well, let’s un-confuse you, William. What’s the question? You are regarding it was a statement that you can believe without, you can repent without believing. Right. You can change your mind about whatever and not believe, not trust. But you can’t trust Christ without having repented or changed your mind. It’s impossible to put your trust in Christ without having changed your mind from whatever you were previously trusting it.

you understand that you’ll understand the doctrine of repentance and it means a change of mind. What is interesting is if you define it as turning from sin in the Old Testament it is God who does the repenting 86% of the time. There’s only six references to man repenting in the Old Testament. Otherwise it’s God who repents. So if you are under the teaching that repentance is turning from sin, you’ve got a problem. You’ve got a holy God that is not capable of committing an act of sin turning from his sin left and right throughout the Old Testament.

It’s impossible. It’s impossible. So obviously somebody’s got some done some bad homework here and the word repent does not mean turn from sin or we’ve got God turning from sin in the Old Testament at least 86% of the time. That’s incredibly wrong. And of course, the real meaning is it’s a change of mind. And in the book of Acts, for example, when Peter preached on Pentecyahoo, he spoke to the very ones that had crucified Christ and they crucified him because they thought Christ was an imposter, a fraud, a counterfeit.

He was not the Messiah. And they were pricked by his message in their hearts and they said, what should we do? And Peter said, repent, change your mind. Okay. I have another question. Okay. When you die and your soul returns to the Father, of course, and you place them on one side of the other of the Gulf. Will those people on either side of the Gulf know whether they’re saved or whether they’re not? Let me just stop you for a second.

You won’t be on either side of the gulf This side of the cross you know Christ emptied out the paradise side of Hades and all the believers in the heart of the earth that were waiting for Christ death at Calvary Have been now taken up to heaven When and so what now second Corinthians 5 8 is in effect It says in second Corinthians 5 8 absent from the body present with a word Now you’re not going to go be looking across a gulf at the unsaved on the other side.

But the Old Testament saints did. In Luke 16 you have that description of what it was like prior to Christ’s death-feral resurrection. And the rich man in Luke 16 and the believer, Lazarus the beggar, died and one was on the poor men’s side and the other was on the comfort side of paradise and they could see see a cross and have conversation but they couldn’t pass across. But thank God we’re not going to go down to the heart of the earth anymore as a believer.

We go straight to be with Jesus in heaven. Well, thank you very much. That clears up everything for me and I appreciate your time. All right. Thank you, William, in Tampa, Florida listening in here from Tampa. We invite you to call. The number is 1-800-576-3771. The 2800, 576, 3771. Don’t forget this Sunday is the third Sunday in the month. If you want to visit and you’re in driving distance, this would be the Sunday to come because we have a lunch dinner.

You can be my guest and eat with us. At 9.15, I teach an adult class along with other classes for children and adults. We also have the 10.30 morning worship service. And then if you come, you can be my guest and stay for our lunch. All kinds of wonderful home cooked food. And then this Sunday is also the baptism that we’re going to have at three in the afternoon. And if you call and get on the list and get instructions, you’re welcome to be a part of that baptism, which will be outdoors, beautiful setting on the shore of a lake.

grassy right down to the water’s edge and we’ll go into the lake and we’ll baptize you and I’d be honored to be the one to do your baptism. That’ll be this Sunday the 17th of September at 3 p.m. So if you wait later this year the water’s gonna get colder so I would recommend you try to get in on this one if you can’t invite all your family and friends and people to bring their cameras and record this wonderful event and it’s a testimony of how you’ve been cleansed of your sin by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Water obviously can never wash away your sin only the blood of Christ but this water baptism is a testimonial of how you’ve been cleansed by Christ blood and the water is simply ceremonial. Please let us know and call our 800 number and I get on the list but certainly if you’re and driving this and you want to come visit us, this would be a good Sunday to visit Calvary and make it a day and join with us. We are excited about several of our stations that we’re on here as of late and Memphis, Tennessee.

We’re on AM1380 WLRM. I want to hear from you folks. Give us a call. I know we’re on live with you right now. And if you just give us a call and say, hey, I’m hearing it loud and clear. Hey, I enjoy it. Or if you don’t like the program, just say, hey, I hate the program. We want to hear from you in any case, no matter what. We’ve got a super book in our Resource Center called Handbook of Personal Evangelism.

This book will tell you how to lead someone to Christ. And it is the best book in the world on the one-on-one witnessing situation. Also, we have incredible tracks that will aid you in your witnessing that through all the work for you. You can sit back and be relaxed instead of having sweat on your forehead and your hands get full of perspiration. You can sit back and relax because this track will guide you right through to completion leading a soul to Christ.

leading a soul to Christ. That somebody just told me this week, that track really works. And he was so excited about how that he really didn’t do much but turned the pages and the person that was being led through the track, trusted Jesus Christ as Savior. We also have a CD teaching, 10 hours of my teaching on Haudelied Soul to Christ, which which was a very powerful, powerful 10 hours of teaching. In the last class, I got a standing ovation from all those that were here taking that class and you can get that 10 hours of teaching on CD.

We hope that you’ll take advantage of the CD teachings on how to lead a soul through Christ. We now have Robert down in Bradenton, Florida. Robert, welcome to Bimalan. i had a doctor went from how are you good i think you listen to your program and also the hang to be right on a little minor uh… differences in change i have a question for you just with the last call as you said absence with the body present the world that’s true but also don’t don’t go by the still stay in the ground because of the judgment when we will all we will all come out of the graves that the the righteous and and the unbelievers will you absolutely right the uh…

absent of the body we leave our body behind and we go to be with the Lord and at the event of the rapture the believers will get their brand new bodies and their souls will come back with Christ according to 1 Thessalonians 414 and their bodies will rise up from the earth according to 1 Thessalonians 416 and they will be soul and body reunited then we which are alive are 17 of that chapter says we will meet them in the air so we are going to be gathered together with all the believers and get our new bodies, but the unsaved don’t get their resurrection bodies until after the thousand year reign of Christ.

And then the unsaved dead are brought up out of Hades and they’re given resurrection body before they’re cast into hell. Okay, I agree. When I’m upset, except the fact that you had just mentioned that you say absence with the body, present with the Lord, well then you said you’re no longer in to say like a holding place will parrot burn the ground right with the bodies of men and now but the soul is with Christ the souls of Christ absent from the body present with the Lord and in first the salons for 14 is as if we believe that Jesus died in rose again even so those even so shall there was also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him so he brings with him the souls of those that have already died and their bodies will be reunited to those souls at the

the event of the rapture but where are the bodies that’s what the bodies are in the grave or in the grave okay yeah okay i just thought that you mentioned that everything will be it is absent with the body body and so we’ll be with right well the body you won’t if you were to die right now as a believer your soul and spirit would go to be with the lord in heaven but you would not get your new body until the event of the rapture so you’d be without a body up until that point okay one last foot question i give you listen How do we, I mean I know that I still do the same, you know it’s not good for you.

Other things may be lusting after a girl and the man, you continue to do that. Are you the squash? I think that people ask if that’s a hard for me to am I really safe. You know what I’m saying? Well, if you’ve really trusted Christ as your own hope of heaven, you’re still safe. But the thing is you’re not going to make any progress in your Christian life and you obviously aren’t going to be blessed as you could be if you would only set your course to serve the Lord.

basically you need to uh… have purpose in your life in the lord has given us a purpose that will obviously lift us out of those other things which you know that uh… He said, keep this bogged down. I know that when you see what God wants to do with you and how He can use you in a mighty way, then you begin to just start dropping those other things out of your life because they become a hindrance to your witness and your effectiveness for Christ.

I understand the Paul Stuys. Absolutely. I’m Sir Lee Evil’s constantly present with us. We try to. Now there’s a lot of people out there. Now you know how you can do this very well. But what you need to do is God the Holy Spirit can give you victory. You have to make choices all day long. And the best way to be able to be effective at that is to make a one-time, lifetime decision to say yes to God every time you’re confronted with a choice.

And so when you’re confronted with alcohol, you say, I already made a choice, but I’m going to say no and you turn it down. And I was just talking to a man this week, he says, I’m an alcoholic, but I haven’t had a drink in 16 years. So he says no every day, and he knows that if he takes one drink, he’s right back where he used to be. So he’s fully aware of that and he says no, no, no every time.

And just like with young people, we have that slogan, say no to drugs. We just have to be saying no all the time. And if you make that choice for your life, say Lord, I’m going to say yes to you every time, then it makes it easier. Yes, thank you. I really thanks for that and thanks for your ministry. How do I get on the list of maybe I really want to go to Israel? I want to go to how do I do that call back right after the show is over in a few minutes and tell the operator to put your name and Phone them on my list and we’ll get you a brochure as soon as they’re in my hands Thank you very much.

I can thanks for your ministry God bless you and I’ll send a gift into as I call wonderful Thank you Robert in Bradenton, Florida and no doubt about it as long as we’re in this body we are going to have a struggle, but you just have to be saying no to sin and yes to God every day. And that is the key. You get up in the morning and you keep saying yes to the Lord and no two things that are contrary to the things of the Lord all day long.

We have Anonymous in Clearwater Florida and Anonymous is an offer question. He is asking about John 15, 15 through 16. Let’s take a look at the verses and I hope I can figure out what your question is as I look at those verses. John’s Gospel, chapter 15, verses 15 through 16. Let me read them and then we’ll comment. In verse 15 it says, henceforth I call you not servants for the servant, knoweth not what the Lord doeth. But I have called you friends for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit should remain. That whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. Well I don’t know what in particular you have a question about, but in verse 15 we have the Word of God. And so God lets us know what God’s plan is for us and for the world. And so if we were just a servant, we wouldn’t be let in on all those things.

But He calls us friends because He lets us know what is going on. What is God intend to do with us? What does God intend to do with the world? What is His plan? It’s outlined in the Bible for us. And there’s tons of passages that explain that. In verse 16, as a believer, he’s chosen us to serve him. He’s chosen us to be ordained for him and to produce fruit. And I believe that is to reproduce ourselves by leading other people to Christ.

And as we go about doing God’s business, as we pray, God will supply whatever needs we have. And so if you’re praying selfishly, you’re not going to get yes answers. But if you’re going about being a fruit bearing Christian, whatever is necessary for you to be able to accomplish that and lead others to Christ as God has chosen you to do that, he will provide whatever that need might be. Thank you for that question and that was anonymous and clear water.

We now have Vinny in Hudson, Florida and Vinny. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Good morning Hank. The reading 1st Samuel chapter 2 verses 20 and 21, it kind of looks like a virgin birth. I’m wondering if you could maybe explain that a little bit and I’m going to listen. Tell me where that’s found and that’s I’ll turn over there now. What’s our Samuel? Chapter Two?

20 and 21. Alright, I’m heading that direction right now and First Samuel chapter 2 verse 20 verse 20 and 21. Alright in Eli blessed Elkinah and his wife and said the Lord give the seed of this woman for the loan Which is lent of the Lord and they went under their own home and the Lord visited Hannah so that she conceived and bear three sons and two daughters and the child Samuel grew before the Lord. This is not a virgin birth, but apparently the Lord allowed her to conceive.

Obviously, notice Elkhina and the woman both went to the house. Obviously, they sure had a sexual relationship that brought about conception, but the Lord was with her to allow that conception to take place. Apparently, something was happening prior to make her not able to have a child. She was barren and God apparently made it possible for this conception to take place. So that’s all that’s taking place, but certainly not a virgin birth. It doesn’t tell us that God fathered the child, but simply God did merely remove whatever difficulty a problem or obstruction that there was to prevent the conception from taking place prior.

So the husband and wife together produced his children. Thank you, Vinnie, and I hope that helped. But no virgin birth except for one, and that was Jesus. Jesus was the only. Remember what it says in John 3.16? For God’s love of the world that he gave his only begotten son. So the only son begotten of the Father was Jesus. is the key word there. And many times it says that. So God only one time impregnated a woman and that was Mary and Jesus was the child and this was the sinless Son of God.

And Mary was told, and Luke, that this child therefore shall be called the Son of the Highest. And he was called holy from the very birth because the sin nature of Adam was not passed upon him. Justin, off air, in Sarasota calls in. He says, explain 1 John 5, 13. Well, that Justin is one of my favorite verses. It says, these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know.

K-N-O-W, not hope, not guess not perhaps not maybe, but that you may know that you H.A.V.E. present tense have everlasting life. So the Bible says it’s God has written address this to you and me that are believers, letting us know in writing that we have present tense eternal life and that we can know that we have it. I know I’m going to heaven. I know I have eternal life. How do I know first on 513 is one of the many verses that I would appeal to where God says Hank I’ve written this to you because you believe on my son so that you may know that you have eternal life.

We’re going to Tom in St. Petersburg. Tom, welcome to Bible Endure on the Earth. Good morning sir. How are you? Good. Good to go. That asked the question about the virgin birth there in Samuel. Talk to the thought. You know with all the issues in the and current events with sanctity of human life and everything like that. Life is ordained of God and there is no conception except God ordained it. I mean, you know, let’s face it and be realistic.

There are a lot of intimate relationships that take place and there is no conception. But I’d just like to get your thoughts on that, the fact that a child can only come into the world that’s blessing and God’s permission. I’ll hang up and listen on the radio and let you let you respond to that God bless you and Continue serving Lord and although we’re not to the 22nd Lord bless you amen the Lord is coming and We believe coming soon in any case You’re right God is the creator of life and when that Aegans sperm meet together life is formed and And certainly God has created a mechanism for it to take place and God is the one who allows life to come forward.

And according to the Bible in Psalm 139 in particular, God says that he knew about that conception and because he naturally foreknows the future. And so obviously God is fully aware of that and how that he knew everything about us. He’s the old man who has been rehearsed with. He was first He was even before we ever were conceived. and how that he marvelliously and wonderfully made us. It’s a great psalm, I would recommend that our listeners would read that psalm, but God of course watches over our life.

He wants each of us to have eternal life. He knows that the seed of Adam has been corrupted and that we’re born with a sin nature. presence unless we have a new birth and are born a second time. That new birth is offered to everyone in the human race. All those who would put their trust in Christ would be born the second time. But I have to agree with you whether people intend to have a child or do not have a child and that conception takes place behind the scenes God knew all about it and God is ultimately the Creator of life and allows for that soul to come into existence.

God has a purpose for that person and obviously wants for them to enter heaven and live with them forever. We are at the end of the program. We have so many wonderful questions and callers trying to get up on the air right now, but we’ll have to continue this tomorrow because we’re right at the end.
