So we are excited about that trip and love to have you go with us. By the way in our Resource Center we have lots of good things that will help you. We got lots of teachings. We got the Book of Revelation on CD, the Book of Daniel, the Book of Acts, the Book of Romans, the Book of Hebrews. Some of those are tough books and we tackle all the tough verses and we go through it burst by burst and we’re going to start another class that’s coming.
coming Tuesday, which will be on 1st Peter. We’ll do 10 hours over five weeks. And if you’re in driving this, as we’d like to have you sign up and come and be a student in the classroom. And if you are not able to, we will be making that available on CD when we finish 1st Peter. But we right now have about 40 different classes. Some people use them to facilitate a Bible study or Sunday school class, and different home Bible studies and things, or they play a part, or all of them CD, and have group discussion, and then have refreshments, and it works well for them.
And so you might want to consider this. Plus, we have the skill field Bibles, and so many other things available. We’d love to have you take advantage. So don’t forget we do have a brand new class beginning this coming Tuesday, January 15. That’s at seven. Actually, we usually start about 10 after seven, and we’ll run for two hours till about 10 after nine. You’re welcome to be here and be a student. There’s a cost of $50, which is a donation to Bible, and they help us keep on the air.
I want to say just a word about repent today. There’s so much confusion over this word. And the reason why is because it is poorly translated from the Greek end of the English. The Greek word is meta noia. Meta means change, noia means mind, the two words together mean a change of mind. The Greek word wasn’t translated properly into English, the English word repent does not mean the same thing. If you go to your English dictionary and look up repent, it means sorrow for sin or turning from sin, but that’s not what the Greek word meant.
And so what has happened here, Satan has gotten a victory and he’s able to add works to salvation by a poor translation of the Greek word. Many evangelist preachers and lay people alike think that repent means the term from sin. Well, if you had to do that to be saved, then salvation would be of yourself and you would be the Savior not Christ. And you know the Bible very clearly tells us that God receives us as we are, as sinners.
And when we trust Him, we become saved at the moment we trust Him and we receive the Holy Spirit who then gives us the power to have victory over sin. But to ask a lost person to change their life or to stop sinning to be saved is not only a false message. It’s impossible. They don’t have the power that victory ever sinned and it just is not in sync with the Bible. Salvation is not of yourself, Ephesians 2-8. It is the gift of God.
It’s not of works, but as Danny Mann should boast. The numerator got it right when he wrote, Just as I Am I Come, Without One Play, But That Thy Blood Was Shed For Me. Another amazing thing is that preachers say, repent of sin. That phrase, quote unquote, repent of sin does not even occur in the Bible once. Are you hearing me? Not even once! You would think it was on every page of the Bible. It’s so frequently used, repent of sin.
It’s not even there. And if you know the correct meaning of repent from the Greek word metanoia, it means a change of mind. And what would that mean? You would change your mind about sin. I don’t know about you, but I was always raised to believe that sin was wrong. And so far to change my mind about sin, what all of a sudden say, wow, sin I guess is wonderful. Woohoo! What have I been missing out on? Well obviously that’s craziness.
I’m afraid we can’t listen. That’s not even a current in the Bible. If you’ll notice, for example, in the book of Acts, whenever the word repent is used, it’s generally a change of mind about who Jesus Christ is. Peter preaches on Pentecost, Acts chapter 2. The whole message is about the fact that they crucified the real Messiah. They had thought he was an imposter, a fraud, a counterfeit, and killed him, crucified him because they rejected him as being the true the Messiah of Israel.
Peter says he’s back, he’s come back from the dead, he’s alive, he is the genuine Messiah. And so when they heard his message they said, what should we do? They were pricked in their hearts. And Peter says in verse 38 of Acts 2, repent, which the Greek word means change your mind. In other words, you need to change your mind. You thought he was an imposter, a blasphemer, deceiver, fraud, a counterfeit, and you need to change your mind and recognize he is a Messiah.
And you roll through the book of Acts and that’s the way it is almost all the way through. It says in Acts 20, 21, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. They change your mind about God and how he saves people. He saves us based upon what Christ did. He shed blood at the cross and not based upon our works. What is even more interesting is that the word repent in the Old Testament occurs 43 times and 37 of the 43 times it’s God who repents not men.
So think about this, if you define repentance as turning from sin, you’ve got a big theological problem. You’ve got a holy, sinless God, not capable of committing a single act of sin, turning from his sin left and right. Guess What? 37 of the 43 times it is God who repents. Only six times does it refer to man repenting. So if it means turn from sin, you’ve got God repenting, God turning from his sin. If you do the math, 37 divided by 43, that’s 86% of the time it is God who does the repenting.
It cannot mean, it cannot mean, turn from sin, because God doesn’t need to turn from sin. He’s a holy God who cannot sin. And so to try to say that God turns from a sin is ridiculous. And obviously that’s the whole point here, is that repent doesn’t mean turn from sin. It means to change your mind. I didn’t know very much about repentance, and that I got saved. I was 18 and the word never even came up that night.
But as I look back and reflect, I realize I changed my mind about quite a number of things that I got saved. By the way, when you trust Christ, just the very fact that you trust Him, you have changed your mind from whatever you were previously trusting in to trusting in Christ. So when you believe you do repent, let me just give you this phrase and if you understand is you’ll understand the doctrine of repentance. You can repent without believing but you cannot believe without repenting.
Let me do that again. You can repent without believing but you cannot believe without repenting. What does that mean? Well, you can change your mind about God, about salvation, about works, about whatever and yet not believe. But you cannot believe without repenting or changing your mind. In other words, when you believe If you do change your mind from whatever you were previously trusting in, as the word believe really means to trust, when you trust Christ you obviously stop trusting in what you were trusting in, and now you’re trusting in Christ and you’ve changed your mind, and that is biblical repentance.
So when you believe you do repent, it’s a part of the package. You can’t possibly believe without repenting. Let me say it one more time. You can repent without believing. You can change your mind about Christ, about God, about salvation, about everything and not believe. But you cannot believe without having changed your mind. You cannot believe without repenting. If you understand that you’ve got the doctrine down and it’s sad that a lot of preachers will say you have to turn from sin, then you get into the problem of how much sin and for how long.
and do you turn at the minute of salvation from sin and then later go back and sin? It really becomes very confusing and people therefore robbed of their assurance or they’re not saved at all because they’re trusting in changing their life to be saved rather than trusting in the life of Christ that was given to cross and his death and shed blood. I’m Dr. Ankern Kinsztren. This is a Bibleline. We’ve got lots of colors waiting. We’re going to try to get to them as quickly as we can.
You’re welcome to Dallas not that 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. We’re going to go to Jeff down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. And Jeff, we welcome you to Bibleline. It’s great to have you on the air. Thanks for taking my call, Pastor. You’re welcome. And I have a 2-4-1 as the safety of Biden, him. And if we believe that’s right, what he has done for leave that’s brought to us as he walks. But it’s just like you said, it starts in the mind.
And now the question is this. One, he says, what shall we teach you, brethren, by this world, of the each and far by the renewing of your mind that it’s wrong to steal, it’s wrong to kill, it’s wrong to covet, it’s wrong to break the Sabbath day, it’s wrong, if we have that belief in God to give us the power. Do what is right, promise of Well, Jeff, you’re absolutely right, and it’s a separate decision altogether. I got saved when I trusted Christ, and it was really not until a year later that I I chose to be a disciple of Christ and my life really changed as I dedicated my life to serve Him and live for Him.
Obviously, we’re not saved by our works, but we are saved to serve. And once we get saved, then we can have that power in our life because the Holy Spirit comes in at the moment you believe. And little did I realize that I got saved. That God the Holy Spirit would follow me up. I went off to a secondary university, the University of Florida, where I later graduated in electrical engineering. Nobody knew I was a believer, I was a secret believer, but God did, and the Holy Spirit brought me over the coming year to my knees where I dedicated my life to Christ.
Nobody even knew I was a believer. Nobody followed me up, but God the Holy Spirit followed me up, and I chose to make my second decision of becoming a disciple by choosing to live for Christ and that happened about a year after I got saved. So everybody brought to serve the Lord and I agree with you and that’s what we certainly all ought to do. Thank you, Jeff, for that question. We now have Shelby in Atlanta, Georgia and Shelby.
Welcome to Bibleline your on the air. Can I have a question? Hello? Yeah, you’re on the air. Yes. You’re half-way taking my poem. My question is, I want to piggyback a bit off what my book is just spoke about. Can you please explain to the listener in public what the Bible is thinking about in the first John 2, verse 3 and 4, as it pertains to our we are saved by grace through faith. Can you please it? Absolutely. In 1 John chapter 2 and verse 3 and 4, it says here and here by, we do know that we We know him if we keep this commandments.
So here’s talks about an intimacy as a believer that we have personal points here that let us know that we’ve really been born again that we’re really safe. Verse 4 says, He that says, I know him and that’s talking about an intimacy. The fact that you have trusted Christ and are saved, but that you know him in a close way that you are walking in the light as he is in the light and you are walking with the Lord and serving him.
But it says he didn’t say that I know him and keep it not as commandments is a liar and the truth is not him. So here it talks about inconsistencies here in a Christian’s life. It doesn’t say he is not saved, it simply says he is a liar. If you were to say that you are really tight with the Lord that you are walking closely with the Lord, you are in fellowship of the Lord and you’re breaking the commandments, you’re a liar.
You’re a liar. That means you’re not saved, but it means you’re a liar. And so these are our little points here that John brings up to bring us to reality to say, look, if we are going to claim that we’re walking with the Lord, that we’re intimate with award then we need to. He says, in verse 8 of chapter 1, it says, If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves. And it doesn’t mean you’re not saved, but you’re deceiving yourself.
First on 1-8, if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves. You know that Joyce Myers claims that she has not sinned for 10 years. I think this was a surprise. First John 1-8. Thank you Shelby for your call. I hope that helped a little bit and he’s already hung up and we’re now going to go to Cindy in Clearwater and Cindy, welcome to Bibleline You’re On The Air. Hi Dr. Lindstrom. I heard you earlier talking about repenting without believing versus belief without repenting.
My question has to do with the understanding of sin itself. When a person is presented with a gospel, and they know they believe that Christ is the son of God and why he came to earth, that he died, was buried and rose again. And they understand all that. And they want to go to heaven and they believe in Christ, but they don’t quite get the sin thing. Maybe that hasn’t been presented or they don’t feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit of their sin condition.
Do you think that they would still be saved if they believe in Christ without that understanding of sin yet, or would that not occur until the person really is convicted of their sin condition? I don’t think that that is necessarily important. If you realize that you need salvation, which is true of everybody in human race because we are all sinners, and you simply trust Christ as the means by which your sins are forgiven, seeking in their heaven, he saved you.
But like for myself, and I usually don’t tell it too often, but then I got saved. I had been so turned off by my church, I went to the Bible study my sister and invited me to, and I remember hearing and understanding the gospel, and I remember that it was not of works that had nothing to do with what I would do but what Christ did for me. And I told God, I said, God, I’ll never serve you, but I’ll take you up on your free gift of eternal life.
And I realized that if God didn’t deliver on that, that he was a liar because he made a promise that whosoever, believe it, not whosoever, turneth from sin, but whosoever, believe it in him should not perish but have everlasting life. And I knew that night that I was saved and I was saved eternally and nothing could ever undo that. But then God the Holy Spirit began to work in my life and I realized that I was heading in the wrong direction.
And I then made a second choice to become a disciple of Christ about a year later. I was in my dorm room all alone and the Holy Spirit brought me to a place where I!. I said, Lord, I’m from now on. I’ll live for you. And I’ll begin to tell people about Christ. And I did. And I have been doing it ever since. And so the Lord follows you up. I believe it works on you. But nowhere did I ever think that how I behaved or what I did would affect my salvation.
That was purely a gift and what did not require anything. There was no strings attached that whosoever believed in Christ would not perish but have eternal life. And so as we grow the Lord reveals more things in our lives that we need to change and we to get right. And just like a child growing up, you know, when a child spills their milk, you don’t spank them for that. That’s just something that they’re going to do. But when they have willful disobedience, then maybe you need to give them a spanking.
But the new believer is going to have struggles and we’ve got to give them some time to grow and the The Lord will definitely interfere in their life and chase in the method delinquent and they willfully sin and that’s true for all believers. I hope that helps a little bit. Thank you. And you’re most welcome. And I want to say goodbye to our Miami listeners. They’re right now going off the air and we’ll be back again for Miami tomorrow.
We now have a little bit more time with our other listeners and thank you, Cindy, for that call from Clearwater. We now have Jerry and Turkey Creek, Florida. Jerry, welcome to Bible Ed. Yes, sir. The Obama and the desolation. And is that something that could possibly take place? The party rapture or is that something that has to…
I’ll hang out and listen to you answer. Okay, what you’re talking about is described in the book of Daniel, also Matthew 24 15, the Antichrist will place an image of himself in a third temple. So it won’t happen, I think, until after the Rapture because I think the third temple, although it’s ready to be built. I was there those past marks and the stones are cut and we saw the beautiful menorah that they have ready to go and the other implements for sacrifice and worship in a new temple.
And the Antichrist halfway through the tribulation will come into that temple and desecrate it and put his image there and proclaim that he’s got a demand to be worshipped and that will happen three and a half years after we’re rashing out. Thank you for tuning in today and again Bibleline is listed as a report if you want to help us. You can by giving a gift you can call and give it by credit card or ask for an envelope to be sent and you can mail that gift in.
Also, we want you to go to Israel. So call about the Israel trip. We’ll send you the brochure. We’ll leave February 25th, and we can still get you in. It’ll be trip number 15 for me. I think you’ll have a great time. If you’re in the Tampa Bay area, we’ll either sign up next Tuesday night for the class on first Peter. And we’ll do those five wonderful chapters over 10 hours of teaching, and it’ll be great. We’re gonna take a break now and come back into a second half hour of Bible.
And so keep your radio down to and write where it is. and we’ll come back in just a few minutes and do the second half hour of bible and safety will be right don’t go away bible and we’ll be back in a moment give us a call at one eight hundred five seven six three seven seven one that’s one eight hundred five seven six thirty seven seventy one well i’m not going to the- with you we really have a great time uh…
bringing this program to you and appreciate all of you who are listening and hopefully everybody is learning and growing. What is interesting is that people struggle with the fact that oftentimes the Bible is different and that what you’ve heard all your life is not always what the Bible teaches. I have people all the time defending beliefs that are not difficult. You really have to go back to the Bible and say, I need to readjust my thinking to agree with the Bible.
And that is, of course, where we grow and we become effective for Christ as we tell exactly what the Scriptures taught. I found that as a brand new believer, numerous things that I had been raised to believe were absolutely wrong. The Bible didn’t teach it, and it was just the opposite of what I had taught and what I had been taught. And so, the Bible, and hopefully, will help straighten some of these things out, and you’ll get a better grasp on the Bible and how you can use it to win other people to Christ.
And that’s what we’re all about. If you’d like to see this program continue in your area and if you’d like to be a part of the Bibleline program by being a partner with us, you can give a gift. It will keep us on the air. You can call our 800 number and you can give that gift by credit card and or you can call an astronomical visa with our address and mail that gift into Bibleline. We’ve already done about forty teachings like this on numerous books of the Bible, the Book of Jude, the Book of Romans, the Book of Hebrews, the Book of Acts, the Book of Revelation, book of Daniel and so on. It is very, very helpful to you in your studies.
So you might want to get one. Call us for a resource sheet. We can send that out to you. Also you can go online and look at our online bookstore by clicking on the bottom of the home page and it’ll take you right to our online bookstore. We are going to answer a question here. We have anonymous caller from Kaleen, Texas, and he says, please explain the wedding feast in Matthew 24, 1 through 14, especially verse 11. Verse 11 says here, when the king came in and seized the guest, he seized there a man which had not on wedding garment and he said friend How canst or how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment?
And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servant, bind him, hand and foot, and take him away. Cast him in the outer darkness, and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. This is talking about a man who is lost. He will not be admitted to this wedding feast, which is a celebration that will last a thousand years. The millennium is what it is referring to. Christ is the king When he comes back and establishes that thousand-year kingdom, all unbelievers will be slaughtered.
Every one of them will be cast in the outer darkness. That’s how weeping and gnashing of teeth and only the believers will be invited in. The wedding garment is symbolic of the righteousness of Christ which is imputed to the believer’s account. So when you trust Christ, you are seen as righteous. And those who get saved during the tribulation period will be seen with the wedding garment with the righteousness of Christ. Excuse me, they’ll be invited to enter into that thousand-year kingdom and be the subjects during that kingdom when Christ’s rule is king.
And the lost who do not have on the wedding garment will be cast out into hell. So they don’t lose their salvation, they never had it, and they’ll not be invited in this fellow that was cast out his representative of the lost who will not be able to enter in we’re now going to go to uh… tommy in the Brunswick georgia and uh… tommy welcome the bible and you are on the air Hey, how you doing this morning? Good.
Yeah, if I have a quick question, I’m gonna get up here. I heard a gentleman called in last week and he was asking a question about tithing and offering. Okay. okay you know believe a curse being a new criminal believer if they don’t have because where I understand according to Galatians we are redeemed from the curse first of all I’m saying we supposed to give according the first Corinthians chapter 9 is I think a proper policy is encouraging people to give it as you purpose in your heart.
not grudging or not as an assistant now i’d just like to know your brief amount of water Thank you and same to you, Tommy. The answer is that under the Old Testament law, which we’re no longer under, you gave because of obligation, because the law demanded that you give. Under New Testament giving, we give from the heart as a loving expression of our gratitude and thankfulness for what Christ has done. So we are not under the law. We’re not required to give by the law demanding it.
But in the New Testament we give because we’re grateful, we’re thankful, and we give from the heart. And when we do, we’re the winners because we’re laying up treasures in heaven. You know, in Matthew 6 and verse 19 and 20, Christ says, lay up not for yourselves treasures here upon the earth where thieves break through and steal and rust, corrupts it, and mauls eat it up and so on. But verse 20 says, He says, lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.
How do we do that? Well, we can’t take it with us, but we can send it on the head as we serve the Lord. We give of our time and our talents and our treasures. We’re laying up treasures in heaven. One day when we get there, our treasures will be there. Jesus said, where your treasures are, there your heart will be also. God wants us to be heavenly, minded and to be looking heavenward. Because we put our treasures in heaven, that’s where our mind is going to be.
And that’s what he wants out of us. He wants us to do it from the heart. So that’s really the difference. Under the New Testament, we basically keep the commandments, but we don’t do it out of obligation. We do it because of love. If you love your neighbor, you’re not going to kill him. If you love your neighbor, you’re not going to lie to him. If you love your neighbor, you’re not going to steal from him. And so when is so when is so when?
So basically it’s all from the heart. And that’s what Christ of course taught me. Now we would do it from the heart as an expression of our love, but not under the law, and the obligation that comes with that. Hope that helps. Thank you, Tommy. We now have done in Lansing, Michigan. And done, we welcome you to the Bible and program. And thank you for calling in today. Don, welcome. You’re on. Yeah, thank you.
And what he believed to the smartest and that Christ? Yes. What, the Federalist and Reform theology, Replacement theology, definitely R.C. Spole believes that the Tribulation period already occurred between 64 AD and 70 AD. that Nero was the Antichrist and that Christ returned when the Roman armies came in to Jerusalem in 8070 and that the second coming has already occurred and that the book of Revelation really has no future application that’s already been fulfilled. And that’s the same position as Hank Hinnigraff and many churches, the Catholic Church holds this view, that the book of Revelation is historic, all fulfilled back in that time between 64 and 70 AD, and that they don’t see themselves in prophecy there in Revelation because they believe it’s already passed, fulfilled, and most of the Reformation churches carried that bad doctrine into this very current time.
The Presbyterians, the Lutherans, the All of them, the Reformed churches, Presbyterian churches all believe that replacement theology that got us through with Israel and that Israel has been replaced by the church which is completely false. Numerous passages tell us that God is not through with Israel. In Jeremiah 31 in particular it says, as long as the sun still shines and the moon is seen at night and the stars are seen, then God is not through with Israel. And we believe right now what’s happening right now in the Middle East today is the fulfillment of biblical prophecies God prepares the way for the Messiah to come the second time.
And this time after the Rapture, many Jews will come to know Christ is Savior and say blessed is he to come with the name of the Lord and Christ will return and set up this thousand year kingdom which we believe is literal that will take place at his second Do you have a second company? Okay. Now consider this. John the revelator was not banned by Nero on to Patness, where he wrote the book of Revelation. Nero was already dead.
Well I agree. I agree and that’s why all these things in Revelation are still future because obviously those who have this position like R.C. Sproul and Hank Hennigraff all point to an early date for the writing of the book of Revelation. But that is certainly not true and the book called In Time Controversy by Thomas Ice really nails the stake in the coffin and shows that as you’re saying Revelation was written later that John was not exiled by Nero, but put on the Alma Pappas where he received that revelation and wrote the book, we believe right up at the very end of the first century, around 1896.
Well, in two, the language used in the book of Revelation’s future tense, things that are going to happen. Yes. And I can guarantee you, a lot of people don’t understand this, is that this man who is going to rise is the Antichrist, who’s going to make Stalin, Hitler, and all the bad people that have existed. existed. It looks like a schoolboy. I agree with him. The fiercest worst person that’s ever walked the earth is about to emerge and be empowered and indwelt by Satan and to man to be worshiped and will be a cruel dictator, making Hitler looks like a nice guy.
Okay, thank you, Don, Don, in Lansing, Michigan. We’re going to go now to Anonymous in Jacksonville, Florida, and Anonymous, welcome to Bible Life. Thank you. How are you? Good. I just have a question concerning your teaching on the new I’ve heard you say that to be born again does not require repentance. No, I didn’t say that, but repentance does not mean turn from sin. You have to repent and when you change your mind about who Christ is and how you are saved, not by works but by grace through faith, and trust Jesus as your only hope of heaven, you We do repent in the process of trusting him and it’s absolutely required, but to turn from sin to be saved is not what we have to do.
It’s after we get saved that then God the Holy Spirit will convict us of our sin, gives the power to have victory over it. Okay, I agree with that. But to repent, as you said, first the work begins on the inside. And then because of the work begin, and because the Holy Spirit deals with your heart even before you personally go to God and ask Him to save you, right? Ask to put salvation through the blood of Jesus. So the work has already begun, even before you, because your heart has already been changed.
Your heart has been changed even before you go to God in verbally. verbally confess your sins, your sins. But to say that you don’t have to change or do anything, nothing takes place, nothing has to take place for you to be born again. When if you’ve truly been born again, according to the Book of Acts, every time somebody was born again, their life changed. And it wasn’t something that I’m not saying changed and just going to church or anything like that.
definite change that took place at the point of the new birth. And their actions change because of the work that took place at the point of the new birth. And to say that even if a person, the question is if a person truly gets saved. Because if you truly, if you truly get saved, the work has been done. The seed is planted in you. The seed of the whole… that the Holy Spirit. So to say that someone can go to heaven, even if they don’t really want to go, that God is just going to make you, even if you’ve got the whole time you get you there, you’re going to go to heaven whether you want to or not.
How can that possibly be true? you actually saying that there would be people in eternity, spinning eternity with God that really does not want it to be there? No, they’ll want to be there. But what we’re saying here is that once you get saved, you cannot become lost. Christ promises that he would not cast out anyone that comes to him, John 637, and even stronger in John 639, he said he would not lose one that had become saved. So once you become saved, God keeps you saved.
If we were keeping our salvation, we could lose it. But once you become saved, you cannot become lost. Now, you can lose your joy. You can lose your effectiveness. You can lose your testimony. You can lose your rewards. You can even lose your life. The Lord might take you home to have an early, but you cannot lose your salvation. And the Bible gives us numerous examples of people that went in a negative direction after they got saved. Lot is a classic example.
Lot was saved. But he chose to go down, down, down, down, down, and chose to live in Sodom. He had no testimony. All of his works were geared to this life and not eternity. And when Sodom was destroyed, he lost all of his treasures. I don’t think Lot’s going to have any treasure in heaven. But the believer who chooses the live for Christ will have treasures in heaven that we talked about earlier. But Lot’s treasures were earthly. So his house was burned up, his car, his boat, his savings account, and the first national bank of Sodom was burned up, his life savings.
He got out by the, with just the shirt on his back, and his two daughters, his wife got killed on the way out. So his wife really, his life really wound up in tragedy, but yet he was still saved. Lot was declared righteous by Peter in the New Testament, and we’ll see Lot in heaven. but he wasn’t the example of a good Christian as he should have been, but he wasn’t. And I don’t see too many parents naming their little kid a lot because he wasn’t a good example.
But also the point is that Lot didn’t have the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. The Holy Spirit was poured out. He was sent here to dwell in the hearts of believers. So to say, to compare a lot with someone that is born again after Pentecost, after Christ ascended into the heavens and sent the Holy Spirit. That could dwell in us. There’s a difference because the seal is the changer. The Holy Spirit is the one who changes me. Again, if you read it.
Reading the book of Acts, every person that was born again, the direction but in living after the will of God. today and this time we’re living in now. So often I hear people say, you know, just quote a sentence. Yeah. Well, you know, it really, when you read Corinthians, Paul there talks to believers who had the Holy Spirit and he’s condemning the actions that they were, they were living negative lives. They were committing all kinds of sins and he says, what don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit?
And he told them that they were, they shouldn’t be living in sin because they were desecrating the very temple that God the Holy Spirit lived in. And if you read that book you found the first Corinthians 5 A man there who is a Christian who hasn’t always feared any of him was living in fornication with his mother. Paul says to let Satan kill that man to take his life, but his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
So the man, well I think went to heaven early. His life was taken from him, but he still saved according to 1 Corinthians 5, 5. Then you look over in chapter 10, talks about 23,000 Christians being taken home in one day because of sin in their lives as bulletproof. So believers can certainly be in that fix. And in 1 Corinthians 1130 it says, many of the Corinthians believers, for this caused many of your weak, and sickly, and many of your dead.
The Lord took a whole bunch of them home, and He chasin’ them severely. But He said that they were saved, and in verse 32 it says that they were chasin, so that they would not be condemned with the world. The world is gonna go to hell, but these were not. And so definitely believers can, but they shouldn’t. Obviously, I’m an advocate of serving the Lord. I’ve got people serving the Lord on five continents and pastors all over the United States that I’ve led the Christ in the disciples.
And I’m certainly an advocate of living for Christ. And I’ve been serving the Lord in the pastor of my church here for almost 42 years. And we certainly teach that, but we don’t have to do it to be saved. And it’s not necessarily going to happen unless you make the choice to yield the Holy Spirit and obey him and serve him. So we sure do thank you for that call and we are going to move on now to David in Spring Hill, Florida.
And David, welcome to Bibleline you’re on You’re on the air. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Listen, are you familiar with John Belizere, the author of Driven by E. Turnethry? No, I’m not. Okay, well, I’ve been reading a theory. He believes that you can lose your salvation, which I do not agree with. But there’s one passage that when I speak with people that believe you can lose your salvation. And I’ve heard you mention many times it’s about having your name blotted out of the book of life.
And I’ve heard you mention that when we’re born on the and then you know so then if we don’t get saved our name is blown it out but where does it say in Scripture that our name is already in the book of life is there some place where it says that well the new Well the numerous verses that hint at that you’ll look at Revelation 3.5. There the promise This is made to the one who becomes a believer. He says, I will not bought out your name out of the book of life.
So once you become a believer, you’re guaranteed that for eternity your name will never come out of the book. But if you die as an unbeliever, then your name is stricken from the book. And so you have up until the day you die and it changed your mind. But I would read Revelation 3.5. God makes the promise to the believer that your name will never come out. Obviously implying it’s already there. and check that out and we’re going to move to our next caller.
We’ll maybe catch you again, call back if you want to bring up another verse. We have now David in or rather Jim in Chattanooga, Tennessee and welcome Jim to the Bible and program. Yes, I had a question. I’ll have Timothy and I had a question. I’d just like to hear what you have to say. I’m not going to read this, but Gerv Plauchins versus 11-20. Yes. It is absolutely gotten my attention. Tied that up with 1 Timothy, verses 9 and 10.
And I would just like to hear it. And what do you say? Tell those verses, I’m sure. Yeah, and I don’t know what point is. And you think it says… Well, I found this just amazing that when I read in Paul’s writings, Paul wrote that now there’s no condemnation to those. to those in Christ Jesus. Right. And when I read in, it’s about God having made peace with everything and I’m paraphrasing, but everything created in heaven and on earth he has made peace and reconciled all these things to himself through the then chapter nine and ten Paul wrote he said this is a faithful sign worthy of all acceptance, labor in the letting God who is the Savior.
