It’s Thursday and it’s Valentine’s Day and Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you. If you get a chance to come by any time we’d love to have you come by and visit our resource Center open until 430 every day. If you’re in another state or another city, another country, you’re able to view that on the internet by going to our website, BibleLineMinistries.org. And click on the online bookstore and you’ll see all of our resources there. And we have some wonderful, wonderful items there that I think will be really a help to you.
We have a couple books on theology that are great. We have one called Basic Theology by Charles wryry, an excellent, excellent volume. We also have the Moody Hen book on theology by Enz, and that is also excellent and wonderful to have in your library. We have all those, and others, and we have Shafer’s Systematic Theology of the Bible. It’s a volume, four volume set, used to be eight volumes now printed in four, beautifully bound, and it’s $180 retail. We have it for a gift of 100 to buy a line.
You might want to get something like that. Plus commentaries, we have the Jay Vernon McGee 5 volume commentary that sells for about 200 in the bookstore. We have it for a gift of 100 to buy a line. That’s the Jay Vernon McGee 5 volume series. We have lots of things. We just finished teaching first Peter, 10 hours of teaching available on CD and DVD. First by verse I think you’ll really enjoy this series. It turned out to be wonderful and you can order those by calling in today and our operators can help you.
A lot of people are enjoying the DVD series because you can put it in your DVD player and if you have a big TV set or Jumbotan, everybody in the family will be able to see it and you can play it even for a class or use it for a Bible study. We will go to Israel shortly here in another week and then we’ll come back into second Peter. So you might want to get the complete set of first Peter and second Peter, 10 hours of teaching on first Peter, 10 hours of teaching on second Peter.
Our last series was the Gospel of John. That’s really popular. That’s a great series. First by verse the Gospel of John, 20 hours of teaching. We did it in 18 hours, but each class was about an hour and five minutes long. And so when you do the math, that’s 20 hours of teaching is available on these sets and that’s available on CD and DVD as well. So give us a call and we’ll be glad to help you out at the phone number.
Here’s 1-800-576-3771. You’re invited to call and not only talk to our resource center and the folks there but also you’re welcome to call and get up on the air with us and ask your question and If you want, you can leave an offer question. We have those stacking up. We’ve had so many calls lately. We haven’t been able to get to the offers, but we certainly are going to give that a good try. If you have your Bible there, get it out.
You can follow along with me, and then we’ll talk about the Bible for a little bit, and then go to our calls. One of the interesting, I think, tricks of the double today is changing words and methods of presenting Christ and moving away from the Bible. Have you heard the phrase, a relationship with Jesus Christ? Well, today in Christianity, a Madison-Adivinu approach is being used by many to market Jesus Christ to be unsaved world. favorite expression or approach is to say that you need a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Well the philosophy is that we are now dealing with the baby boomers. The baby boomers have experienced broken relationships during their lives so they say the baby boomers are looking for a relationship. It is true that a person needs a relationship with Jesus Christ but this is a consequence Listen now, this is a consequence of being saved. It is like saying a person needs to go to heaven. That’s a great approach, isn’t it? A person needs to go to heaven.
Also, we could say a person needs not go to hell. A person needs not to go to hell. But going to heaven is a consequence of being saved and not going to hell is a consequence of being saved. And we can start listing consequences left and right. Therefore, to tell the lost that he needs a relationship, or needs to go to heaven, or needs not to go to hell, when he dies does not solve the problem. These are only consequences.
And they only come through trusting Christ as Savior. A person must trust Jesus Christ as the one who died for their sins and shed his blood at the cross of Calvary with buried in Rose again from the dead. The Bible tells us in Acts 1631, believe. The word believe there means to trust. rely upon, put your confidence in rest your weight upon, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. Upon believing, or the Greek word is really to trust, upon trusting Christ as Savior, a person is born again and does have a relationship with Christ as a result of being born again as a result of the new birth.
I believe that this approach is not good, is not good, as an approach to witnessing to the lost, because of the fact that people think of relationships in terms of human relationships. This means relationships can be broken and effort must be put forth to prevent broken relationships. Applying this concept to a relationship with Jesus Christ would make salvation by works, works and present a salvation that could be lost. Also, using this approach causes confusion because the phrase relationship with Jesus Christ is misused to inquire about the Christian life of the believer.
Have you ever been asked how is your relationship with Jesus Christ? Well, that really probably is not the question you’re asking. But when I’m asked that question, how is your relationship with Jesus Christ, my answer as a believer is it’s eternal, it’s permanent, it’s unchangeable, it couldn’t get better, couldn’t get any worse, it’s unalterable and on and on and on I could go. Because you see that question is probably being asked to find out the condition of your Christian walk and are you in fellowship with the Lord.
But your walk, you see, your fellowship, your intimacy with the Lord is changeable. But not your relationship. Your relationship is eternal. It’s permanent. It’s unchangeable. It couldn’t get better. It couldn’t get worse. It’s unalterable. It’s never going to be changed. It’s forever. Once you trust the Lord, you’re stuck. You have to go to heaven. Why do you like it or not? Paul said in the book of Romans chapter 1 verse 16, for I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for if the gospel is the power of God and the salvation to everyone that believe it, we need to present the gospel when witnessing to the lost because the gospel is the power of God and the salvation.
We need to present the death of Christ and his shed blood as the payment for sin, then his burial, his resurrection, and the fact that when we trust that he died and paid are sin-dent and full that he would save us. And save us eternally. And it could never be reversed. It cannot be undone. It’s something that happens at the moment of trusting Christ. You see, the new birth is as real as the first birth. You see, the Lord Jesus Christ said the bicademas, not which is born of the flesh is flesh, not which is born of the Spirit is the spirit.
It’s just as real and it’s just as final. You know, when you become born into this world physically, there’s nothing much you can do about it. I mean, you are a member of the human race. Now you are the child of your father and your mother. There’s nothing you can do to change that. When you become born into God’s family by the new birth, by trusting Christ, the same is true. It can’t be changed. You become a child of God, our Heavenly Father, you become His Son or daughter, and nothing can undo that.
There is no way that anybody can become unborn physically or spiritually when you are born you are launched forever as that person physically and also spiritually. That which is born in the flesh, the flesh that was born in the spirit, the spirit John Jesus made that very clear. The water birth in John 3 though is not water baptism. As some have tried to twist and get water baptism into John 3, Jesus spoke about a water birth but it’s the birth of the flesh.
And when he talks about being born of the flesh, he’s talking about the water birth. But when he talks about the second birth, the new birth, he’s talking about the birth of the Spirit. When you trust Jesus as your Savior, Calvinists really want to twist this baby around and they try to say that no, you become saved first and then you believe as a consequence. Absolutely, backward from the Bible, you know, don’t they realize that they are inventing something that’s not even there?
Can’t be supported by Scripture. Isn’t supported by Scripture? The Bible is very clear. This is the new birth in the Bible, it’s the birth of the Spirit. It is to be born not of blood, nor the will of flesh, nor the will of man, but of God. And Peter said being born again, not of corrupt, we’ll say, but of incorruptible how, by the Word of God, which liveeth in a by the forever. When you is a lost person, hear the gospel message.
It can bring life to you as you respond to it and believe or trust Jesus as your Savior. Again, believe on my Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved at 1631. And once that happens, dozens and dozens of things happen that are consequences, none of which save you, but are simply consequences. I’ve written an article called Born Again, What Happened, you can get it and download it off my website. You can also call now us for a copy.
We’ll send it to you free. But it’s this thirty-nine things that happen at the moment of belief that are all irreversible, that are all consequences of the new birth. The relationship that you have with Christ begins with the new birth. You become related to God by a birth where as you’re related to your parents by a flesh birth, you’re by a spirit birth, it occurs at the moment you trust Christ. And then the consequences come. Yes, you will go to heaven.
Yes, you have a relationship with Christ. Yes, you will not go to hell. And on and on and on, there are dozens and dozens. I listed 39. It was a good number to stop at. It was a good number to end with. That’s when Jack Benny said that he stopped counting birthdays, remember? He’s 39 forever, it seems. Well, in any case, I’m not paying attention. This is Bible. I hope you’ve understood what we’ve said today. I really feel that this is really a scary twisting of the presentation of the gospel and the Bible to invite a person to have a consequence without telling them how.
You trust Christ to become born again, trust Him as your Savior, then you become a child of God. You have a relationship as a result. But look at what so many people do. and of course Rick Warren are tight together and on the Jack Hiles website he says that if you are pleased to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ and continue that relationship until you die, then God is pleased to continue that relationship with you into eternity. But if you begin a relationship with Jesus Christ and you’re not pleased to continue that relationship until you die, then God will not be pleased to continue that relationship into eternity.
In other words, you have to continue on. It’s a continuous process to be saved. And that is false. That is heresy. That is contrary to the Bible. But yet most everybody I talk to that is using the approach of you must have a relationship with Christ. Toss about nurturing, keeping that going, fanning it, continue it until you die or you won’t be saved. That’s works, my friend. And that’s a false gospel. It’s contrary to the scripture and the devil is really getting a big advantage today by using this terminology in a wrong way.
I’m Dr. Ingle & Srimps. This is by my mind. We’re going to hear the phone lines. People are already calling in, getting lined up to go. And again, the phone number here if you want to call in is 1-800-576-3771. We have a call from Margot Florida. We’re going to go to Bella. Bella in Largo Florida. Welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Are you there? Hello. Hi there, you are on the air. Oh, ran into a beautiful lady a couple of weeks ago.
He came to clean the house. My daughter hired her. And he was telling me he was a widow. And he was very lonely. And I said, well, why don’t you make Jesus Christ your husband? And she says, oh, you know, she says, I’m a Jehovah, Jehovah witness. And she says, oh, God must have sent me here because I’d like to come and teach you the Bible. I said, I’ve only got one teacher, the Holy Spirit. And I would, and then she’s talking about an angel, Mike, that that was, that was the Lord.
And I says, oh, boy, this woman is a man. very fast-fetched and she wanted to bring me some pamphlets and stuff. I says, you can bring them, Isis, but I won’t read them. Isis, because I read the Bible. And Isis, tell me something. Are you one of the hundred and forty-four thousand? And she says, oh no, He says, well, what’s going to happen to the rest of the Jehovah’s? Oh, we go to a certain place and wait at turn.
And I says, this woman doesn’t know the Bible. And I says, and he walks to teach me. And so that’s the whole story. Well, you’re right on. And certainly the witnesses are confused. And often they’re doctrine. I believe that Jesus is Michael the Archangel. And you know, you can’t have it two ways. Christ is called the Son of God. And Jesus said, rather God said in Hebrews 1 5 that he never called an angel his son. So you can’t be Michael the Archangel and the Son of God at the same time.
And of course, Jesus Christ is guided to come flesh. And you’re right. The Bible is the authority not to watch Tower of literature. And this woman obviously is insane. I will pray for her. I trust that she will trust the Lord and thank you for being a good witness and presenting the case for Christ. But tell me something. Is there a part in the Bible that says that God didn’t make an angel his son? Yeah, Hebrews 1-5. Hebrews 1-5.
You got it. And so, and then she came the following week and then she didn’t even talk about the Jehovah’s. and she could give she was wasting her dying and she’s a sweet lady that lost her husband lonely you know and uh… when he comes i’d put some coffee flour and she says oh yeah that’s all good to me you know and i said well i’m going to win this woman over with love i hope you do we’ll be praying for you bell thank you for sharing that story uh-huh okay thank you so much for Alright, Bella in Largo, Florida and talking to a witness.
When you know the Bible, you’re going to be able to answer all of these things, which are really darts or arrows coming from the devil because he wants to challenge us all the time. And of course, the Bible talks about having us as Christians using the shield of faith. The shield of faith means that you know the word of God, the faith, the body of truth containing God’s word, and you’re able to deflect these false teachings by knowing what God’s word says and your shield is up if you’re in the Bible and know what it has to say.
We’re going to go to Jean now and she’s in St. Petersburg and Jean welcome to Bible and you’re on there. Hi, Dr. West. I thought a couple of your books. I have a looser one minute after you die early. And I have a few questions I just asked too. One was he was saying how I wanted to know like, you know, have any spiritually debt anyway. I wanted to know would they have lived there for ever had they never sent in?
Well that’s a speculation. We don’t really know the complete answer, but that’s what people like to speculate about. But God of course foreknew I believe that they would fail and planned before their creation, even a plan of redemption to Christ. But the aid of the tree of anology good and evil, now they were cast out of the garden, lest they would eat of the other tree, the tree of life, because it speculated that they would remain alive forever in a sinful body had they been able to stay there and eat of the tree of life.
So they were banned from the garden, not to be able to eat of that tree. That tree is still preserved by the way and in heaven it says in Revelation 21 and 22 The tree of life is there and it has 12 different manner of fruit And you and I are going to get to enjoy that in heaven apparently we’re going to eat With none of the answer effects. We don’t have to worry about We’ll get to each of that fruit forever and ever.
But we don’t know the answer to this thing that we have to speculate about. Why do we have to have an ask on it? I asked you one more question. Sure. Okay. This is another part. He was saying how, well, he quoted 2nd Tamino 1223 and it was about like, you know, like, if you’re not going to 12, 23, and it was about like, you know, like if a baby, well, you know how some babies will die before they grow up to the age of accountability.
I want to know when children die and they… When they go to heaven are they really resurrected as babies and will they later on have to choose God as the Savior? I understand that part. The children under the age of accountability go to heaven. They’re covered by the blood of Christ. But in heaven, they won’t be running around as babies. They’ll have mature adult bodies. We all get resurrection bodies. They’ll be like Christ’s body. And we know about that.
It was Christ when he was crucified. It was about 33 years of age. And so when he came back from the dead, he came back in that same body. and it was glorified and it will be an appearance about 33 years of age. So I think if you’re young you’ll appear older, you’ll appear to be mature in adult as 33, and if you’re older you’ll become younger in your new body, and you’ll appear to be about 33 years of age.
Thank you. You’re so welcome. Thank you Jean for calling in from St. Petersburg. We now have Stephen in Seminole and Stephen welcome to Bibleline your on the end. You’re welcome Stephen. What’s your Okay. Steve, are you there? Yes, I’m here. You’re on the air. Yeah, yeah, I had a good. My common question is in regards to and I can’t hear you. Well, I’m not talking about that. If you’ve tried listening to me, you’re not going to get it. You’re going to listen on the phone.
There we go. Okay. Okay. The question is, is there room in the statement that you’re saying about them having a works-driven The message that what they’re really talking about there is that if we don’t continue, Dr. Hank Lindstrom, I think it’s a great question. I think the question is, if a person has truly accepted Christ, then as it does say in Scripture, that if we love Christ we’re going to follow His commandments. Holy Spirit is going to wish you is there a room in there for your statement?
First of all, if you love Christ, you’ll keep His commandments, but you don’t have to love Christ to be saved. You trust Christ to be saved. Then there are those who don’t love the Lord, obviously, and it’s evidence by the fact that they don’t live for Christ. And the Bible certainly makes it clear that even if you did zero works after you became saved, you still saved. If you read the story, there are the passage on the Judgement of the Seed of Christ in 1 Corinthians 3.
It talks about our works being evaluated by fire. And it says, if any man’s work abide which have built their financial receiver reward, 1 Corinthians 3.14. But verse 15 says, if any man’s work It shall be burned, anticipating somebody who has everything that they did in their whole life burn up nothing of any value for reward. He shall suffer loss, it says, loss of reward, but he himself shall be saved, it says, yet says by fire. So even if he did zero, he’d still be saved.
That has nothing to do with our works at all. And maybe you would say, well, I don’t think that’s a Christian. I think we’re going to be a lot of surprises. I hear it all the time. I say, well, you know, Joe, he’s not a Christian because look at that. Why he doesn’t go to church. He doesn’t read his Bible. And in his dance, Sally, boy, she’s got to be a Christian. She’s in church every Sunday and reads her Bible.
Well, you know, you might be totally fooled. And it might be that the one is trying to work their way to heaven by being religious and reading their Bible. And the other one that genuinely saved and is doing nothing but get their saved because of the blood of Christ. So I think we’re going to really be surprised at who is and who isn’t. And that’s going to be a shocker one day. But our works have nothing to do with it.
Now I encourage every believer to serve the Lord because that’s where the rewards are. That’s where the joy is. That’s where the excitement is. That’s what’s driving my life. And obviously, I take the record, the term purpose drivenly, as believers have a purpose. We are sent here to give out the gospel, the great commission. And so as a believer, we need to proclaim that message to the world. I don’t want to make it too much in the comic because I do understand here that the question oriented show is that I really think that that is the case.
They’re not, I mean all the God like you’re saying can judge whether or not the person truly say or you know at that moment and accept a God free gift. But I don’t think they’re saying that. Like Rick Warren I have a lot of his quotes and he says, what you do here on earth determines where you will spend What you do here on Earth, and I don’t think you saw what you do in the sense that you trust Christ and you’re saved.
I think it’s much more than that. We’re at break time, and so thank you for that call. We’re going to have to take a break time back into a second half hour by blind. Again, we are listeners supported. If you could help us, it would really be great. And you could give a gift by sending it by mail or give it by credit card over the phone. Give us a call. And if you want an envelope to be sent with our address, you can do that and we’ll mail out and you can merely gift a Bible or help us.
Would you give us a call and we’d love to hear from you. We’re going to take a break now. We’re going to come back into a second half hour Bibleline. Don’t go away. I’ll be right back in just a moment. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Alright, I’m Dr. Englinson. We have one lady who faithfully, she chose about a year ago to give $1 a day and every month she hand delivers that check. He says, here’s my $1 a day for my blood. And I thought, how sweet that is. And you know, if everybody did that, we would be all over the world. Really, we would. Five of our listeners did that. But thank God for all of you who do give, for those that do pray, because you are the ones who make it possible for us to be on the air and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
And we thank you so much for your gift in advance. And I want to say thank you. Thank you. Thank you. and we appreciate your giving. Somebody yesterday suggested maybe as a Valentine’s gift to really the one that we ought to love above all is Christ and maybe you’d like to give a gift for Valentine’s Day. Would you call in today and say I’d like to give a Valentine’s gift to Jesus by giving a gift to my mind to keep my mind on the air?
Wouldn’t that be great? That would be a certainly a wonderful expression of your love to Christ here on Valentine’s Day. Give a gift to Jesus to Bible and here to keep us on the air. We’re going to go back to our phone lines now and the phone number is 1-800-576-3771. We invite you to call. We also know, once you know, that we just finished teaching 1 Peter, 10 hours of teaching that set is available now on DVD, Video and Audio, and also just CD.
And you’ll find that a very powerful, powerful study in the book of 1 Peter, verse by verse, and you can get the CDs or DVD. We have Dalton, and he is in Lakeland, Florida, and Dalton, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. You’re on the air. Do you have a question? We live our entire life. Yeah. Yes. Yes, well it’s really not a question. It’s kind of a comment. People seem to be confused between salvation and blessing and the way I see it is that our salvation is based on our position in Christ and some and others are blessed upon our condition in other words we’re saying based on our position in Christ we were blessed and sanctified according to our condition position meeting our position in Christ before God and our condition based upon you know the way we live our Yeah.
Yeah. Well, you have to absolutely right. People aren’t dividing, they’re not separating. Salvation is what God did for us through Christ and our living the Christian life is all response out of love and gratitude. And as we serve Him, God will reward us. And blessings come as a result of our faithful service. But nothing that we do for God will save us. That’s why Christ died in the first place. If He could have been saved by our works and Christ could have stayed and never had to die.
Well, that’s exactly what I…yeah, that’s the reason I call it. It was a thing like people confused. Like we have to live a certain way in order to be saved and that’s putting the cart before the horse. We’re saved based on our position, which is in Christ. And we’re saying to find and bless according to our condition, which is the way we live our Christian life. Absolutely right and a good comment. Thank you, Dalton. It was Dalton in Lakeland, Florida and a lot of folks don’t make that separation.
And it’s true with what we were talking earlier about the word relationship. That’s a consequence of salvation. You become saved by trusting Christ’s death and shed blood at the cross. One of the faults of this relationship thing is that they just say, you know, start a relationship with Christ. Well, unless you trust His death and shed blood, you do not become bored again and you are not related to Christ. No matter how much you try, you say, well, I’m going to all have conversation with Christ and I’ll try to walk the direction Christ wants me to go, that’s works.
You’re not going to be saved unless you become born again, which is a consequence of trusting Christ. talking about here, and there’s just so much confusion because people don’t separate between salvation, which is what God has done for us, and the Christian life is what we do in response out of gratitude and thankfulness for what He’s done for us. We now have Tony, and Tony is in Paul Meadowford. Tony, welcome to Bibleline. Yes, good morning, God bless you. I just have a question about two scriptures.
The scripture is in Job 1, 6, and 2, 1. And here in my Bible it says, one day the sons of God can present themselves before the Lord. And then in 2-1 it says, another day the sons of God came to be themselves before the Lord. My question is, could you explain what the scripture is regarding the sons of God and I’ll go ahead and hang up the list. Absolutely, thank you for that call, Tony. talking here about believers and in particular the children of Job and God never called an angel his son.
The scene is not in heaven. Some of them imagine this is in heaven and the sons of God are coming the approach to the throne in heaven. This is on the earth, you know, especially in the Old Testament times. It was always an appointed place where men would come to meet to worship the Lord. When Cain and Abel, for example, they brought their sacrifice, it says to the Lord. So obviously there was a place appointed by God where they would bring their sacrifice where God would receive it.
Later in the tabernacle in the wilderness God showed His presence in the tabernacle in the day by a cloud in the night by a pillar of fire. And when that pillar of fire moved at night or the cloud moved in the day, they picked up the tent and moved with it. Later at the temple in Jerusalem, but now since Christ has paid for all of our sins and the Holy Spirit now has been able to come and enroll in each and every one of us, our bodies become this temple and we can worship the Lord wherever we might be.
But John 1, 12 tells us to as many as received Christ to them God gave power or authority for them to become the sons of God to those it believe on his name. So when you trust Christ, you become a son of God, you become born again, and the sons of God are believers. Now, angels are never called sons, and Hebrews one five makes that clear. So this is not talking about angels. And in fact, as a believer, becoming a son of God, you become higher than the angels, because the title son of God is higher than an angel’s title.
Angels never become men, and men never become angels, and certainly God never called an angel at any time, his son. And we talked about that earlier with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. They try to claim that Jesus is Michael, the Archangel, and that is really, really, really messed up because Jesus is not an angel. He’s God who came and took our Newman flesh. And because they reject his deity, the Jehovah’s Witnesses are lost. We now have Roy and Mount Morris, Michigan.
And so welcome to Bibleline your own ear. . Yes, this is Roy Coleman from my most Michigan. Yes, sir. And I listened to you on WSNL, 600 AM and Saginaw and Flint. Wonderful. And I just wanted to make a comment and then a question. You have been a blessing to me in the sense that the plan of salvation that you present to me is absolutely right. That it’s faith. And I had to learn that myself. I was a I was once a member of a missionary Baptist Church.
And those people mingled law with grace, Doctor. Wow. They absolutely mingled law with grace so bad. And I asked the pastor time and again to please teach them in the book. the book of Romans. Go in the church there. It was a great, great your tea duty. And I’ve been out and I’ve done a lot of Bible reading and there was a gentleman on the last night because I listened to you at 9pm at night and there was a gentleman on last night that mentioned the companion Bible.
That Bible was a note to them and they was by E.W. He was a contemporary of Dr. Schofill, Dr. Robert Aniston. They all knew each other. And he’s also got a book, got a very excellent book on writing, dividing the word of truth according to 2 Timothy 25. He was a brilliant scholar in the sense that he could talk to Rabbi Ginsburg, who was one of the rabbis on that time. Bointer was only gentle, he was allowed to interpret his works from the Hebrew.
So, I mean, that’s one of the people that I learned to rightly divide the word from. And I have read read Doctor Scofill too, you know, and I was thinking about getting one of his works on how to rightly divide the word. You enjoyed it. I believe Bollinger, though, was a hyper-dispensationalist and then taught that salvation was different in other ages, whereas the Bible is very clear that people have been saved the same way in every age they’ve always been saved by faith in Christ and not my works.
And Harry Ironside said, we have it on our website, a book called wrongly, wrongly divided into word of truth. And he mentions bonjour as a hyper dispensations. Right, he goes like that. So therefore I believe bonjour is wrong and I would reject his teaching. Boy, I think if you’re calling in today, I would appreciate all that. Alright, that’s your thing. Okay, Bonjour and the companion Bible I would reject. All that Bonjour was a hyper-dispensationalist. He taught that Peter taught salvation by works, water baptism, and then Paul came along, changed the gospel to just grace alone, and people in the Old Testament were saved by keeping the law and offering sacrifices and so on.
So he’s the writer of the companion Bible, which was asked about yesterday. So we would reject Bollinger as being one of those who wrongly divide the Bible. Read on our website on the left side of our homepage. It has three online books that we have available for you just to read and turn out right off the website. The third one there is, wrongly dividing the word by Harry Ironsign. He passed the Moody Memorial Church in Chicago for 18 years.
and a great Bible teacher and he exposes a Bolingerism. We now have Tony in Plant City and Tony you’re on the air. Tony? Good morning. You’re on the air. How are you? Oh, I’m pretty good. I’m just a little bit confused this morning though. Okay. Well, you know, you’ve taught me that we’re supposed to forsake the traditions of men and things like that. And Easter is wrong. You won’t even say the word. Christmas is, you know, also a Catholic tradition.
But it isn’t. isn’t Valentine’s Day 2 and I heard you say before the birth? Well, you know, Valentine’s was supposed to be a Christian and he was incarcerated because of his preaching the gospel of Christ. And he would send messages to his girlfriend by way of carrier pigeon from the prison wall and the whole tradition of sending a message to somebody you loved began with him, sending his obviously not by a hallmark card but by a carrier pigeon to pass that message along.
And obviously we’re talking about an expression of love to somebody else that you care about, your wife, your family, your children, your husband. The greatest lover is Christ. He loved us. Of course the Catholic Church made him a saint, but if he was a true believer, then obviously he was expressing his love to his friend and obviously pass along that way. So we’re not worshiping a false God or we’re talking about love. When God is love and we thank you for that point.
Thank you so much, Doug. you’re confused but God is love and he wants you to express your love dollars so I don’t see a thing wrong with that. We now have Mary Ann in Orange City. Mary Ann, welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. I have a question for you. I’ve been a couple of minutes and I’m about to pagan but she doesn’t elaborate on it. Did you tell me what a pagan is in this day and age?
Well, a pagan is somebody who just does whatever they feel like doing and has no God that they’re accountable to. So, paganism is usually also a sign kind of signals, a sinful life, a life that has no bounds as to what rules it should follow. So obviously pagans don’t worship God and basically they’re in the category of atheists or agnostics and just live their life out as they will however they feel. Whatever makes them feel good is what they do.
So I would say that that’s not going to be a good friend for you. As a Bible in Psalms 1 it says, be careful who you keep your company with. It says, happy is the person who does not walk in the council of the ungodly, nor sits in the seat of the scornful, does it scorn and mock the Bible, but the person who is delighted is in God’s word and immeditates in God’s word day and night. So you need to get that person saved or get a new friend.
Thank you. You’re very welcome, man. So I would be very careful that they’ll pull you down. You need to get him saved or move on and find somebody who will be a good companion, a good friend who will lift you up into things of Christ. We have Felix in Tampa, Florida and Felix, welcome to Bible Eye. Hey, John here. Hi, I got a question. Is it okay to say that the blood of Jesus Christ make us children’s the button.
The blood of Jesus Christ is the means by which we become the children of God. Absolutely. When you trust in the death and shed blood of Christ, you become born again and you become I have become a child of God. Okay. Also, when God, when God handed the big plot to destroy the human race, he did it because they were sinners. Because they… Because they did not come to know him as Savior and because they were committing every simple practice you could possibly imagine.
And everything contrary to God, we would call those all pagans. Alright, well, feeling sure, very welcome. And we have a world today filled with pagans. I’m afraid that we try to get rid of God today. It seems in our schools, our government, in our Pledge of Allegiance and everything else. So it’s unfortunate. We now have Chris and Lakeland for the Chris welcome to my one. You are on the end. Good morning Dr. Hank Chris from Lakeland. Dr. Hank, I’m in a precarious position.
In our workplace we have devotions every morning and our honor and boss, he leans and things like that and I had hired a new man that started with us about two weeks ago. Successfully we have leading to the Lord and from the Pentecostal side, and he’s getting what I consider truth I keep pointing him back to the Bible on the the other miracles and gifts have ceased I’ve told me that that it’s not beliefs. It’s what the Bible says and he went to somewhere in John To explain his part of it He’s a John 14 about how Jesus said that we would do these gifts and I know that that’s not Dr.
Hank, I’ve been saved over the last eight years. You’ve been my pastor and my teacher. Let me just say if you were John 14 verse 12 is probably what he’s referring to where Jesus said, very rarely I say unto you, he to believe it’s on me, the works that I do shall he do also, and greater works than these shall he do because I go to my father. So obviously… They were able to do some of the miracle gifts while Christ was still there and shortly thereafter tell the New Testament record was completed but the greater works I believe are are being able to lead people to Christ and bring about the new birth and ways them from the dead spiritually from being spiritually dead the spiritual of By trusting Christ as Savior and then so they of course Don’t see that they missed that whole thing there that that’s a greater work
You know, if you healed somebody, and let’s say they left you three years longer, but if they didn’t know Christ and went to hell, what good have you done them? The greatest miracle is to bring a person to eternal life by trusting Christ as Savior, and that is the greater works that you and I do as believers were able to bring the gospel and bring the forgiveness of sin, the gift of eternal life to those who trust Christ. The miracle gifts are gone and you know when you look at Matthew 10 for example, they were to raise the dead.
I don’t see anybody doing that today. They were to replace missing flesh. When it talks about healing the lepers, you know, a person with leprosy their body cells would die, portions of their flesh would drop off on the ground and there was an awful stench of rotting flesh on their body while they’re living. And when Christ healed a leper, they actually had missing flesh replaced. I don’t see that happening today, where people are missing flesh and having it replaced.
It just doesn’t happen. And also… I agree. You know, him and I, we have a marketplace ministry. He’s claimed the gospel. And I know I’m called to the marketplace to bring unity amongst the body, the true church. I’m the belief that you have savers and people that have lost in every church denomination. So I’m in a beach one way and I’ll say that’s bringing division and I don’t see it as bringing division. I’m seeking guidance, Dr. Hank. We don’t know where to go anymore on it.
Well, give me a call after the radio. We’ll give you a couple of books I’d recommend. It would help you get you armed up with what the Bible says on these topics so that you can do something with it. You better, yeah, like we’ll join you Sunday for lunch. Thank you Chris. Thank you, have a good day. Okay, and by the way he’s talking about our third Sunday. We always have a dinner. Yeah John. You are on the air. Excuse me. Yes. Oh, okay. My question in the Bible is space party. Yeah, that war hasn’t happened yet. I’m out of time here, but that’s in Revelation chapter 12 and it talks about in the tribulation period, three and a half years in Satan will lose the control of the atmosphere around the Earth as Michael and his angels will fight against Satan and his angels.
