If you have a Bible, you might want to get it out as we take a look at a couple of scriptures and we’re going to turn to the book of Romans today and we’re going to take a look at Romans chapter 11 verse 6 this one sounds like a tongue twister the first time you hear it but it’s really quite a remarkable verse in Romans 11 6 it says and if by grace then there is no more of works otherwise grace is no more grace but if it be of works that it is no more grace otherwise work is no more work he said what he said it sounds a little uh…
confusing that let’s go slow it’s really saying here that grace is the exact opposite of works and works are the exact opposite of grace and you can’t mix the two If you were to graph them, you’d have grace and infinity on one side, and separated by infinity, you’d have works on the other side. They would never meet. Never meet at all. They’re opposites, and you can’t mix them. If you add works to grace, you no longer have grace. You have works.
And vice versa. It is obviously an amazing verse which really defines grace for us as the absence of anything. any human merit. And whenever we look in the Bible, where grace is presented, usually you’ll find that the Bible negates any works at the same time. For example, Ephesians 2.8 says, 4 by grace, mercy and merit favor, are you saved through faith? The next phrase says, and that not of yourselves. In other words, grace is in the absence of any human contribution.
So it says here, it’s not of yourself. Then it says again, it is the gift of God that speaks in God’s grace, is mercy where He gives salvation. And then the next phrase again takes away the works. It says not of works, lest any man should boast. So you have grace and then it tells you not of yourself. You have grace and then it says it’s not of works. So wherever you find grace, the Bible makes it very clear that grace own operates in an environment of no works.
And if you’re trusting in your works, you will not be saved. Let me say it this way. It’s daytime, and since it’s daytime, it can’t be nighttime, otherwise daytime wouldn’t be daytime. But if it were nighttime, then it couldn’t be daytime, otherwise nighttime wouldn’t be nighttime. What we’re saying here is it can’t be daytime and nighttime at the same time. I hope that helped a little bit. In other words, if you’re saved by grace, it says in Romans 11, 6, then it is no more of works.
Otherwise, grace is not grace. Grace by definition excludes all human works. The next phrase is kind of scary. But if it be of works, then it is no more of grace. Otherwise, work is not work. If you add any works to salvation, you will not be saved. And this is so important for a person to understand. Let me just illustrate. If I were to give you a glass of pure water, you would not hesitate to drink it. But let’s just say I took a little eyedropper and dropped a couple of drops of poison into that water.
And I kind of switched it around and gave it to you. Would you want to drink it? No. Well, you say, well, you only put a couple of drops in there. But you know, there’s a couple of drops would contaminate the whole glass of water. And now you have a glass of poison. And if you drank it, you would die. you wouldn’t want to do that at all. Let’s see you had a glass full of the grace of God.
And you just squeeze off a work, a human work, into that glass of grace. Guess what? It would be poisoned. You would no longer have grace. The Bible says you would no more be of grace once you squeezed off one work. What I’m saying here is if you’re trusting in just one work, One work only, you pick out whatever work that might be. In addition to faith in Christ, it gives you to heaven, my friend, you will not be saved.
I’m not splitting hairs. This is just the facts of life. I’ll never forget a number of years ago. I talked to a young man who believed you had to be water-baptized to be saved. I said you’re not going to heaven, you’re going to go to hell. And he said, why? because you’re trusting in works plus grace and you’ll not be saved. He said, no, I’m not. I said, yes, you are. He said, no, I’m not. I said, yes, you are.
He said, no, I’m not. I said, yes, you are. And I said, look, if you are trusting in water baptism, you are adding a human work to the planet’s salvation. And therefore, you’ll not have grace and you’ll not be saved. after some lengthy discussions, he finally trusted Jesus alone, recognizing that water baptism doesn’t save, but it’s a testimony of a believer after they’re saved as to how they’ve been friends of their sin by the blood of Jesus Christ. Well you know, as we talked later he said, you know, you’re the first person.
You are the first person who ever warned me, who ever warned me that I was in danger of going to hell because I was adding to what Christ did. He said, thank you so very much. He had me talk to a number of his friends and lead them to Christ as well. Who also believed they had to be water baptized to be saved. I said, as long as you’re trusting in water baptism, church membership, prayer, mass, penance, confirmation, whatever it might be, In addition to faith in Christ, you will not be saved.
Look at the verse again. Romans 11, 6 says, If by grace. Then is it no more of works? Otherwise grace is no more grace, but if it be of works, then it is no more grace. Otherwise work is no more work. I’m telling you it’s scary for those who are adding to salvation. I was raised in the church where it was all works. You had to work work work work work work. You’re way to heaven that basically salvation was based on a scale that would be pulled out out out of the church.
After you’d died and God would put weights on the scale representing your good works versus your bad works and you’d watch the scale and you would hope that the scale would tip in your favor, there’s nothing like that in the Bible. The Bible says Ephesians 2, 8, and 9 that salvation is not of yourself, verse 9 says it’s not of works. The study mentioned Bostor Bragg. In other words, you can’t boast or brag and say, look at what I did or how I contributed, no matter how small or insignificant.
It’s like the elephant that was crossing on a rope bridge across a chasm and the bridge walked and shook as the elephant crossed the chasm. little flea in the ear of the elephant said to the elephant, wow, we sure did shake that thing, didn’t we? Well, the flea’s contribution was about zero, but the flea took credit, and he boasted about it. The Bible tells us you cannot boast about your salvation because you have nothing to do with it except to receive it.
And so Jesus paid it all, all After Him we owe, sin had left a crimson stain, but He washed it as wide as snow. I am pleading with you for your soul. I am going to heaven. I have eternal life. I have received Christ as my Savior. There is nothing that can undo the salvation that occurred when I trusted Christ as my Savior. But I am concerned about whether you will make heaven or not because if you are trusting in Jesus plus anything.
The result will be zero, no salvation, you will not enter heaven. Scary, isn’t it? And Paul knew that and he said it in a number of places. He said in 1 Corinthians 1 17 where he said that Christ sent him to preach the gospel. He said not with wisdom of words, 1 Corinthians 1 17, not with wisdom of words lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. Paul knew that if he tried to spice up the gospel by using wisdom of words, he might likely make it avoid message by adding some type of human work to what Christ did.
He was very plain to say he preached Christ only and the cross of Christ only as the means of entrance into heaven. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life and no man comeeth unto the Father, but by me. The only way to heaven is to trust Jesus Christ as your Savior. My friend I pray that you have done that. You could do it right now. You could tell the Lord, Lord, I am a sinner. I don’t understand much about the Bible, but I believe Jesus Christ paid my full sin debt.
It was buried in rose again from the dead. He paid for that sin debt by his death and shed blood. I trust him right now Now, as my only means of reaching heaven and God will, now that might seem that you would go out and just live as you please. That’s not really the case. I’ve led many people to Christ and I have hundreds really that are out there serving the Lord on at least five continents that understand that you do zero to be saved.
But now because they’re so grateful they are spending their life for Christ. You know, that’s what dedication is all about. That’s what servanthood is all about. It’s an understanding according to Romans 12.1, I beseech you, I plead with you. Paul says there to the Romans that in view of the mercy that God has had upon you, that you would now present your body a living sacrifice. And it says it’s your reasonable service. We don’t do it to become saved, but it’s only reasonable that we recognize that we owe our lives to the Lord because He died for us.
So absolutely we have to live for Christ and serve Christ, but not to be saved. And if you’re trusting in anything, even just one work, you will contaminate grace. It’ll be poisoned. And if it be of works, it’ll no more be of grace. And if you stood before grace, before God rather, and have had no grace, you would not make heaven. I’m Dr. Incomps from this is Bible and we’d love to have you cause the numbers 1-800-576-3771. We’re going to go to David right now in St.
Petersburg and David, welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Yes, I. I said, how do you feel today with my personal? They can’t. And you know what they do is they say it’s by grace but you have to earn grace which is absolutely contradiction to the term and they say the way you earn grace is by keeping the succaments and that way you earn grace. Grace cannot be earned by definition it is unmerited, it is undeserved, it is not based upon anything that we have done.
God doesn’t give grace based upon something that we do in the way of our obedience. It’s based purely upon his love for us. And that’s the marble about this wonderful gospel message that God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believe it in him should not perish but have eternal life. So unfortunately they’re going to not make heaven if they’re trusting in any work in addition to God’s grace. Yeah, by the very fact you’re absolutely right.
It’s just… I mean the answer right there, and it’s like, to me it makes sense that you realize we’re in a minute now. Okay, great. Okay, if grace means something, earn means something, they both make sense, but we put them together, they don’t make sense. They’re not the same sentence. You’re absolutely right. And a lot of churches do this, not only the Roman Catholic Church, but they say one thing that you say by grace, but in the next phrase they add it back in, they add works back in.
And the Bible, of course, excludes it. It says, like we said in Ephesians 2, 8, by grace are you saved through faith. The next phrase says, and that not of yourself very clearly qualifying that grace is the absence of works. Then it says it’s the gift of God. Again says not of works less than you answered both so works are totally excluded when you have grace You know I told them that I said eat a Peter when you get to that it’s like They get to that and then they go directly to their Catholic talk before.
I mean I was a Catholic until I was 14. I went to it all two weeks, kind of younger than time. But I don’t get how you can have two words to mean the same thing. If I just came over to his house and said, hey you mind if I fool around with your wife? But I don’t want to actually fool around with your wife. What do you mean you’re on top of her? How do you have not fool around with your wife and not fool around your wife?
How does one not be? No, absolutely I’m not full round means not full round We need to pray for these people that they would have their eyes open to see the truth and Because this is the difference between heaven and hell David. Thank you so much. All right That was David in St. Petersburg and this is not splitting a hair, this is the gospel, what it is and isn’t. We have Harold in Tampa, Florida and Harold, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Good. Good. All right, thank you Harold and suicide is not the unpardonable sin. There is only one unpardonable sin and that is rejection of Christ. In John 3 18 you have it, it says, and Jesus is the one who is speaking, he that believe eth on Christ is not condemned. And the tense in the Greek means you are not condemned at the moment you believe, nor from that point on forever thereafter you are not condemned at all because of trusting Christ.
The next phrase says, but he doesn’t believe it’s not. He says, because because because because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. So the one who dies in unbelief, not having trusted Christ’s Savior, is forever lost. Once you trust Christ, you’ll never be condemned. The Bible tells us in John 524, if you believe it says you have eternal life and you’ll not come in the condemnation, but you’re passed from death in the life.
And then in John 6, 37, Jesus said, Him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. It doesn’t say except for suicide. It says, Him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out. So obviously there’s no verse that says that suicide is the unpardonable sin. It says unbelief is the unpardonable sin. To die without Christ would mean you’d go to hell. When Christ died, He paid for every sin that you would ever commit your whole lifetime, past, present, and future.
And so if you are a believer, every sin that you would ever commit, including suicide, would be included that Christ paid it all. And when you trust Him, you become saved eternally. I hope that helps. But a lot of folks are taught wrong that suicide is the unpardonable sin. It is not the unpardonable sin. We now have Adam in Tampa, Florida, and Adam, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. You more in pastor. You talk a little bit about saying that patient, what happens after you become saved and how much really human effort does it entail.
I believe that the very supernatural birth is spiritual and I believe that the sacrificial process is also very spiritual. I mean, they’ve got a lot of control. I just want to know your opinion. Are you talking about sanctification? Yes, sanctification. Okay. You’ll know that a sanctification is a once and for all act as far as salvation is concerned in your position in Christ. Hebrews 10-10 says, by the Witchwill, by the will of God, we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once rolled.
So it is by the one time death of Jesus that we are sanctified in God’s sight. Then it says in verse 14 of Hebrews 10 that by one offering we have been perfected forever. So by that one offering we have been sanctified. The word in the Greek means to make pure and holy. We’re made pure and holy in God’s sight based upon that one time sacrifice of Jesus Christ at the cross of Calvary. And it says in Hebrews 10, 14, by one offering we have been perfected forever.
The offering of Christ at the cross perfects someone forever. Now if you were perfected forever, could you be certain of going to heaven? And the answer is yes. Absolutely. It would be a yes answer. Alright, well thank you Adam and I hope that helps and thank you for calling in. We now have Chris in Seminole Florida. Chris, welcome to Bibleline your own there. Oh, hey, Pastor, God bless you. Thanks for your service that you do. I just want to get into a, I’ll give you, I guess, is what I need.
In regards to what about the Catholic who is saved at a fairly young age, then he’s called Paul Stocker’s, where he actually becomes a believer in works. Now, can you give me a clarification on his state? Yeah, once you’re saved, you’re saved forever. And if that is the case, then he would be never lost. He’d be saved forever. But he’d lose out on the, you know, there’s a freedom that comes by understanding you’re safe forever. And when you get into the bad teaching, then you’re brought into bondage and you’re always fearful about if I do this, I’ll go to hell if I do get that all good at hell or I can lose my salvation if I’m not careful here and I need to do this and I’m new.
And you know the Catholic Church of particular has all these sacraments in. They keep their parking lot full because you’ll go to hell if you don’t participate in the Mass and all these other things which by the way the Mass is unbiblical. Not the fact that Christ died but the fact that you could offer him up again as a means of forgiveness of sin every time the Mass is offered is totally a false sacrificial system. The Bible as we just quoted in Hebrews 10 says by one offering, he has perfected us forever.
The Catholic Church has it as a repeated offering, which is totally blasphemy and is absolutely false. Hope that helps a little bit there, and thank you so much for your time. This is Bibleline and we’re coming to you live and we want to say that we’re glad to have you with us each and every day. Thank you for tuning in to the Bibleline program. Actually, he’s the editor that compiled the Bible, but he has some wonderful contributors about a hundred years ago in 1909. They came out with the first edition of the Schofield Bible. That’s incredible. If you go to your Christian bookstore, they’re not going to say that.
They’re going to say a watered down hybrid. I think it’s called a skill field number three. You don’t want that. It’s watered down and not the notes are kind of watered down to the point. We have found that if you get somebody to listen to that CD, how permanent is your salvation, the chances are great that they’ll trust the Lord. We’ve just seen that happen time and time again. So you might want to get in on some of that. We want you to know that we’re headed for Israel on February 25 of 2008. That’s a Monday. We’ll come back on March 7th. I’ve laid back and put an eight or ten pound rock on my stomach and still have my arms and legs out of the water.
It’s quite a remarkable experience and you’ll definitely want to try that. And so I hope you’ll make plans. Get us a call. We’ll tell you exactly how to get that brochure right this minute on the internet. And also we can nail it to you, but we want you to get thinking about this right away so you can make your plans to join us down. We are listeners supported. Your prayers and your gifts to Bible and are so appreciated. We don’t have any other means of support. And so if our listeners stop giving, we would have to go off the air. That’s just the fact of life. And so we trust that you will give a gift of Bible and today.
Thank you so much for tuning in. In any case, we are going to go to the phone lines here. We’ve got a number of people ready to go. We have one that’s on a cell phone and in Richmond, Virginia. And welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Yes, and I wanted to ask you about something that has been, and that is that Grace is given by God for salvation, but only to a few. And I try to combat that with, you know, he says, well, who so ever will, and they will say, well, nobody would unless he chose them and they go back to.
Well that’s really wrong teaching because the Usoever will is really correct that anyone and everyone is invited to trust Christ as Savior. And the chosen part is that God chooses to save those who believe. You have it in John 3 16 that who’s whoever believed in Christ should not perish but God shows before the foundation of the world that But the negative is also true that if you don’t believe, God has chosen that you will not be given eternal life, but you will perish.
And so as the Almighty said it years ago, The Whosoever will not be elect. The chosen and the whosoever wants are the non-elect or the non-chosen and so There’s no verse that says anything different in Romans 8 there talks about He predestinated those whom he foreknew he got in the in his ability to know the future knew that there would be many that would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and Those that he foreknew would believe he predestined for them that they would not only go to heaven but they would be given a body like Christ’s body and they would be eventually in heaven conformed to the very image of Christ himself.
But he’s not saying that he’s making the choice for them, but all those who make the choice, he has chosen them to go to heaven. So once you trust Christ, you are then one with a chosen. And if you die without Christ, then you were never chosen because he only chooses to save those that believe. Well, I thank you and that is truly what I believe, but it’s been presented with the oversight. But I thank you so much for your response.
Well, thank you. And obviously, there are those who are Calvinists that teach that God has already made the choice for you. And that’s not true. God does not make your choice for you. In fact, you know, if it were up to God and he didn’t choose based upon belief, then everybody would go to heaven because it says in 2 Peter chapter 3 verse 9 that it’s not God’s will that any should perish, but that all should come to the change of mind, call repentance, and that all would be saved.
So it’s God’s love the world. He wants everybody to be saved. So Christ died for everyone, but He only chooses to save those that put their trust in Christ as their Savior. We’re now going to go to Matthew. He’s in Berkshire County in Massachusetts. And so welcome from Massachusetts to the Bible and program, Matthew, you’re on the air. Okay. Hi. Dr. Lynch, I’m… Yes. I thank you. I enjoy your show. Thank you. I have not come across this channel that’s, I think it’s EWTN, and they had a Catholic apologist that said that Ebers 12, I think, versus 22 to 23, for to give them the substantiated give you a train to the spirits, to the saints, and you can get the reference in the book revelations as well.
as well. But they mentioned something about incense. It might get that sent. No, not at all. There’s… That’s really a far stretch and that’s usually what they have to do. I would recommend 1 Timothy 2 5 where it says there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, and we are to simply go directly to the Father through Christ, not through a saint, not through Mary, not through any other mediator, a priest or anyone else.
We can go directly to the throne of God through Jesus Christ as Savior, and we are forbidden to pray to the dead, which are the saints that have died. We are forbidden to do that. Isaiah 819 says absolutely no, no, no, no, no. We are not to pray to the dead or to angels. And in verse 20 of Isaiah 8, the next verse, it says, if they don’t speak according to this word, the word of God, concerning that, it says it’s because there is no light in So here’s a very damaging verse that says those who teach you can pray to the saints and encourage it are to have no light in them.
These people are absolutely violating the word of God. Alright, Hank. They said that if your church wasn’t teaching you this, that you weren’t in the Bible preaching church. Well isn’t that interesting? The Bible? The Bible says there’s no light in them because that’s forbidden. We are only to pray to God and through Jesus Christ who is the one Mediator. And yet they believe that the saints are all Mediators and all can intercept and answer first. You know, this all came out of paganism.
The Roman religion of paganism had about 5,000 gods. And each God was assigned a particular role in order to help you. They got to travel, they got to health, they got to dentistry, they got medicine, they got to whatever. And then they decided to include paganism into Christianity. And so these became now saints. So they were renamed, but they’re still out there. I have a Catholic Encyclopedia right near me here and it lists hundreds of different saints that have those roles.
Everything from Saint Christopher on down. And by the way, they’d be saying Saint Christopher, so he’s no longer able to help you anymore because he’s just playing Christopher. So it’s a crazy system where they can remove them as saints and Adam as saints and then they have You know if you got a two-think you pray to a particular saint and there’s the same for For every need you have to pray to and we’re forbidden to do that Well absolutely that they would know all about your circumstances and only Christ knows that You’re absolutely right and Matthew.
Thank you for calling. Thank you Matthew in in the berry florida and uh… that’s over the side of florida Gene, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Hey Pastor Links, from Salvation by Faith is such a simple thing. And I can almost sometimes understand what people get confused because they see different scriptures that almost look like they’re contradicting themselves, but they’re really not if they would slow down and take those passages apart. I’m a tire law enforcement and when I first started we had a little thing that kind of taught us the basic, what we call the KISS method.
AISF. Keep it simple, stupid. Look at what you’re reading, or look at what you’re seeing, you’re observing, and take it one step at a time. And I believe this, the instant we believe, we are immediately justified. God doesn’t wait for our good works before He declares us just. We are all sinners when this declaration comes. And true faith always produces real conformity to Christ. justification happens to us and justification will surely follow. And part of this, I know I get from different places, but Martin Luther said justification is by faith alone, but not by a faith that is alone.
And then if you go to James 2 26, he goes, faith without deeds is dead. So just take the faith as your salvation, that’s all you need, and surely if you’re truly you know conform to christ the rest fall in line i mean that’s simple i don’t see where they met in the boat and there’s so many people to see that there i hear it everyday and uh… jane that you’re right right thanks for your call thank you so much what you trust christ and we certainly ought to live for christ i think that’s what gene is saying but we don’t do it in order to become saved It says in Ephesians 2 and 8 and 9 that we’re saved by faith without works.
But verse 10 says, we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus. That’s the new birth. I’m too good works, which God says that we ought to worship, should walk in them. This is something we ought to do. It’s not a part of our salvation. But is the opportunity for a believer to earn rewards in heaven as a result. We have now Pastor John calling in, and he’s calling in from Orlando, Florida. and the pastor john welcome to buy one you are on the air turn your right radio down we hear that the background i’d rate is still too loud i hear it in the background georgia out your teaching but i had a cut i have a problem with our our perspective what i’ve seen in the gathering is that if we teach if we teach a role of ten and nine if i will confess about my floor jesus
and believe in our heart that got away from the dead only believe and trust and that’s it. And I believe in my opinions of the law is there must be more to coming on that please. Okay. There is no obedience on our part to be saved except to the command to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. What is interesting when you look up that word, disobedient in the Bible, it’s always referring to those that are disobedient to the gospel that refused to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and those will be lost because they disobeyed the gospel message to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and those will be saved.
The obedient are those who have been obedient to that command and trust Christ is Savior. For example, 2 Thessalonians 1 says that Christ will come back at his second coming in flaming fire, taking vengeance on all of them that no not God, and that obey not, obey not, obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. So those that do not obey the gospel. The one that will be lost and we obey the gospel by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ or trusting him.
And we disobey the gospel by not believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. And that’s exactly in line with what we said earlier that the unpardonable sin is unbelief. And that the way that you become saved is to believe John 3.18. He that believeth on Christ is not condemned. But he to believeth not is condemned already. If I never serve the Lord a day, I would still be saved. Service comes from wanting to show God that we are grateful and thankful and want to please Him because of what He has done for us.
But if you are serving for any other reason, like trying to get yourself into heaven, you will not be saved at all because you are really not trusting Christ as your Savior. You are not obedient to the gospel. The Gospel message is one of faith in Christ alone apart from works. And if you don’t obey that message to be saved, you’ll not be saved at all. But after we’re saved, I believe certainly we should be living for Christ. And I challenge people to do that.
And we are praying that every believer will become a servant of Christ, but not to be saved. How do we put an equation if the soul the soul that finished shall die? If I go back into some of my old habits based on my understanding of the scripture, I’m type of sin. Well, that’s right. And what will happen to you is you’ll die. It’s talking about physical death. A lot of Christians die too early. They don’t have to. Hezekiah almost died because his life was in that kind of disarray and the Lord warned He’s straightened his life up and the Lord gave him 15 more years.
But you’ll definitely die physically. I’ve buried people too young because of their sin. I know one Christian man who was just 30 and died of alcohol. Handsome, white, but just hooked on his alcohol. And I’ve buried quite a number of people with drug habits that died in their 20s. shouldn’t have died but their sin took their life but they’re still saved. So you say it’s not a spiritual death, is a physical death? That’s what he’s talking about. Yeah, it’s a physical death that will occur to you.
If you look at 1 Corinthians 5, it talks there about a man who’s saved. He’s living in fornication with his mother, probably his stepmother. He’s proud. He’s puffed up. He’s not willing to quit. It says in verse 5 to deliver such a one in the Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the Spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. So here Satan is going to be allowed to kill that man to take his life, but yet his Spirit will still be saved in the day when Christ returns at the event of the Rapture.
So here’s a man that the Lord took home to heaven early. First Corinthians 1130 says that many Corinthian believers, because they were living in sin, this cause many of you are weak, many of you are sickly and many of you are dead. So the Lord took many believers home to heaven early and it says in the verses following that if we would only get our lives in order that we would not be judged but when we as Christians are judged we are chastened of the Lord that we should not be condemned with the world.
The world will go to hell but the believer will not go to hell, the believer will be spanked and maybe even the Lord might take you home to heaven early. Okay, if a woman is not to speak, if I do, or speak to me, she can’t give a testimony. And I guess, again, I’m back to, if I go with just a letter, and don’t put it with the spirit of the law, I think that’s where me and you are on different pages.
I know the matter says- Well, the women should not. And basically, if you read Timothy for further clarification, it says, they’re not to teach, nor do you serve authority over the man. If the male leadership gives permission for her to speak, she can speak, but otherwise no, she’s not to open her mouth at all. Can you give a testimony? Not unless male leadership give her the permission to do so. Okay, that’ll get them then. She’s speaking but Paul says don’t speak.
That’s right. She’s supposed to be subject to her husband and to the leadership of the church. She’s not to speak out on her own. cannot disrupt the service and speak. We had a lady come into our service and all of a sudden stood up and said she had a message for the church and she started speaking. I told her she was out of order and if she didn’t stop we would escort her out. She did sit back down and got quiet.
She doesn’t have the right to just stand up and take over the service. She jumped up right during the sermon and wanted to preach to everybody there. that is not allowed. Well of course, of course, women in particular are told that they did not have the right to do that. Men are placed in leadership. Yes sir. Alright. Thank you sir. Thank you and again the Bible wants order in the church service and it says that really only one person should speak at a time in church.
So when somebody else speaks over someone else that’s out of water whether you’re male or female. We do have Shirley in Lakeland, Florida. Shirley, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Shirley, hi Shirley, you’re on the air. I heard him preach. You cannot stand. That’s correct. I was just wanting him to explain Hebrew. Okay Shirley. In Hebrews chapter 6 it says it is not possible for those who have been and once enlightened. And let’s find things which tell us that these are people that are genuinely saved and are born again.
It says to renew them again under repentance. The repentance area is a change of mind that took place when the person got saved. What it’s saying here, it’s impossible for you to become saved again if you have fallen away from serving the Lord or gotten away from God. You don’t become saved again. You begin to serve again. So what it’s saying there is not that you can lose your salvation. In fact the very opposite is true. It says that it’s impossible for you to become saved again, that if you attempt to become saved again by going back to that decision you made when you trusted Christ, it says you had crucified Jesus Christ again.
Notice what it says to yourself and put Christ in open chain because you’re saying that the The one time death of Jesus Christ was not sufficient to save you eternally. You have to go back and become saved again and again and again. That’s wrong. It’s saying here in that passage in Hebrews 6 and verse 9, we’re talking about things that accompany salvation. In verse 10 it says, God has done righteous to forget your labor of love. God is going to reward you and bless you for your faithful labor for Christ after you’re saved.
away from the Lord and stop serving him, it’s impossible for you to go back and become saved again. I’ll never forget Shirley, I was talking to one lady and she said she had lost her salvation seven times. And I said, and I put on my saddest face I could produce and I said, oh, oh, man. Because she had used this passage to say you could lose your salvation, Hebrews 6, 4, 6. And I said, I feel so badly for you.
My heart goes out to you. She said, why? I said, because you’re going to hell and there’s nothing anybody can do about it. You can’t do anything about it. I can’t do anything about it. Because if this verse means what you’re saying, it says once you have lost it, you can’t ever get it back. And all of a sudden she changed her tune and she said, well, she came close to losing it seven times. really hadn’t lost it. Because you realize the verse was saying that she could never get it back.
If that’s what you think it means, if you lost it, you can’t get it back. But it’s not saying you can’t get it back. It’s saying you can’t go back and become saved again. Because once you’re saved, you’re saved forever. And what you need to do is get serving again. Because you can pick yourself back up and get serving the Lord again and still get in on the rewards and blessings that He wants to still upon you for your faithful service.
I hope that helps a little bit, surely. And I don’t hear surely now, so maybe surely it’s gone. But once you’re saved, you’re saved forever. You cannot be lost. Well, I’m Dr. Ankelin Strooman.
