I think you will find that there are a lot of resources there for you. We are excited about it being Friday and we are back here in Tampa, Florida and we will have a great weekend.
I hope you will come by this Sunday if you are in driving distance. You would like to visit us. We will be having this Sunday is also Palm Sunday, a very special Sunday and all of our group on this past trip to Israel walked down the very road that Christ walked down on Palm Sunday. and he was hailed to be the Messiah by the people and then rejected by the religious leaders. And he was then on a collision course with the Cross of Talbury.
And we believe that Christ died on Wednesday of the Crucifixion Week. We’ll talk a little bit about that today. Hope you have your pencil. I hope you have your Bible. And I hope that if you have a question that you will go ahead and give us a call. And we’ll try to answer that on the year. Jesus said in Matthew 1240 as Jonah was three days and three nights in the Phishis Valley. Socialists on a man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Now we know that that means a 72-hour period. Have you ever wondered how people would get three days and three nights between Friday and Sunday? Well it’s impossible. I mean it’s impossible. But if Christ, if we You know the first day of the week was when he came back from the dead and you can count backward three days and three nights. You know it can’t be Friday. If you go back one day that Saturday two days it’d be Friday three days it’d be Thursday and Christ was crucified on the preparation of the Passover which was Thursday of the Crucifixion Week and so Christ actually died on Wednesday.
Isn’t that amazing? A lot of people have never really thought it through and we’re going to talk about how the confusion actually came about. The Bible tells us in Matthew 1240, and you might want to write this one down, that as Jonah was, three days and three nights in the Fishes Valley, social and Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. And you know, that is 72 hours. Jesus said in John chapter 11 that, are there not 12 hours in the day.
That’s the day period, which is 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the night period is 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and this way of counting time began right back there in Genesis chapter 1. In Genesis chapter 1 you find that God said the end, the evening and the morning were the first day. That says in the evening in the morning we’re the second day. And then it says in the evening in the morning we’re the third day and so on.
So each of these days in Genesis there are really 24-hour days. They are constituted by one period of darkness and one period of light, a total of 24 hours, and that clearly lets us know how long those days were. And when Jesus says three days and three nights, he means three night periods and three day periods, and that’s a total of 24 hours. of 72 hours. And think about this, we know that Christ was placed in the grave at Sundown.
And if he goes in the grave at Sundown and he stays in the grave 72 hours, he has to come out of the grave at Sundown. Remember Jewish people count their day from Sundown to Sundown, so Christ actually went in the grave at Sundown as the Passover was beginning Wednesday evening, really began Thursday night. I know this sounds confusing, but I remember as a little boy I was in Miami and I had a paper route and I had many of my customers were Jewish.
I found that if I went to collect the money for the route each week from my Jewish customers on Friday after sundown, they wouldn’t pay me. I didn’t understand that, but one of them really kindly explained that they couldn’t do any monetary transactions on the Sabbath and it began at sundown. They told me if you can get here before sundown, we’ll pay you because we can’t make any monetary transactions on the Sabbath. Or we can catch you Saturday when the Sabbath has ended at sundown.
So if I were to get there right after sundown on Saturday, well obviously I began to learn who my Jewish customers were and I would accommodate and make sure I was there on Friday before sundown because I didn’t want to have to take my Saturday night collecting the money for the route. So in any case I learned real early that the Sabbath began at sundown Friday night, ended at Saturday night sundown and obviously that was a real lesson for me.
And so the Passover on the week of the crucifixion began on Wednesday night at sundown. That really was Thursday night because they count their night first. Even in Genesis it says the evening and the morning were the first day. So the night period was counted first, the light period was counted second and you go from sundown to sundown. So on the crucifixion week Christ was crucified on Wednesday, he died at three o’clock in the afternoon and then there was a very hurried burial and Christ was placed in the grave by sundown and Then if you count 72 hours, Christ came out of the grave, 72 hours later, at sundown on Saturday when the Sabbath ended, and when Sunday began.
You see, Sunday night began Saturday at 6 p.m. and so he rose right at the beginning of the first day of the week. And when the women came early in the morning of Sunday, they discovered the empty tomb. He was already risen by 12 hours. By the way, we’re going to have a sundown service on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. before Resurrection Sunday. This Sunday will be Palm Sunday, next Sunday will be Resurrection Sunday. But on Saturday night, if you’d like to join us, it’ll be a wonderful evening.
I think you’ll enjoy the program and we’ll celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ again from the dead exactly at the time when we believe He came back from the dead. that sundown Saturday. So instead of a sunrise service, we’re going to have a sundown service and we invite you to come. I’m probably the only church in America that has a sundown service. But you know, if you want to be accurate according to the Bible, that’s really when it took place.
It took place at sundown. If you leave Christ in the grave till Sunday morning, guess what? You violate the scripture big time because you leave him in the grave three days and four nights. That’s right. An extra night period is included if you leave him in the grave till Sunday morning. He was in the grave for three days and three nights according to his own word. Jesus Christ has come back from the dead. Sunday morning they discovered the tomb empty and he made many appearances on that day and they saw him and They were obviously rejoicing to see that Jesus had come back again from the dead and is alive forevermore.
But the wonderful verse that we might begin with here is Matthew 1240. As Jonah was three days and three nights in the Fish’s Valley, social as Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. So there you have it. It’s as plain as that. And by the way, Jonah died in the Fish’s Valley. If you read the book of Jonah, you see that he died and God raised him back again from the dead.
And so he was a perfect picture of the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Christ. Isn’t that incredible? It really is. And we’re excited about the fact that this is probably the most special time of the year for Christians. As we celebrate beginning this Sunday, the beginning of the crucifixion week, week when he comes down the slopes of the Mount of Olives on Palm Sunday that marked him being the lamb that would be slain. It was that day that the religious leaders decided to take his life and later that week on Wednesday the preparation of Passover he was crucified and at three o’clock in the afternoon he dies.
He’s placed in the grave just as the Passover begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday. is in the grave 72 hours and comes back from the dead Saturday at sundown when the Sabbath ended and when the first day of the week began and we find that Sunday morning they discovered the empty tomb. I have a chart that I developed called the Crucifixion Week Chart and I have the scriptures and what happened on each day from Palm Sunday to Resurrection Sunday. You might want to get that and just call us and we’ll mail it out free to you but it’s call the crucifixion chart.
Just call and ask for that at 1-800-576-3771. And we’ll be glad to mail that out to you. And you’ll be able to track each day what happens this coming week as we celebrate the death burial and the resurrection of Christ. Of course, we know this is the heart of the Bible. This is the gospel message. The message of the death of the burial and resurrection of Christ is the gospel. And when you believe that message that Jesus Christ died for you and paid for your sins by his death on the cross was buried in rose again from the dead, God saves you.
And you’re saved eternally from that very moment that you put your trust in Jesus as your Savior. I hope you’ve trusted him. I did that when I was 18. received the free gift of eternal life and I still possess it at will forever because eternal life is eternal. You cannot lose it. Christ will never cast you out. John 6 37, him that cometh to me, I will in no one is cast out. And it says even better in verse 39 of John 6 that Christ promised that he would not lose one person of all that have come to him.
Everyone that puts their trust in Christ’s Savior is he currently saved is he turnily secure? He promises he’ll not catch you out Promises that he’ll not lose you and that is obviously the best news you’re ever going to hear on this planet Well anyway, we’re going to turn to the phone lines here We have people calling in from all over and we’re going to go to our first caller His name is Howard and Howard is calling in from Tampa, Florida.
Howard. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Oh, yes You’re right on the air Howard. Uh, Dr. Lancer, Mom. I was wondering about, I have a friend of mine, Joe, the witness, and he said that Christ was crucified on a stake, not the cross. Can you clarify the object for me? Well, you know the witnesses do all kinds of crazy things, and I happen to have some very old Joe’s witnesses books, and they have pictures of Christ being crucified on a cross.
This is a recent development in the theology and they like to just kind of give little points to a debate with and argue over that really don’t make a bit of difference. The Bible tells us that he was crucified on a tree in several places but obviously the cross was made of a tree and there were two pieces. Christ carried the crossmember. There was an upright piece and the crossmember was laid over the top of it and that really made like a tea.
And then Pilate, of course, erected a sign above that which stated the crime for which Christ was crucified, and that made it actually a cross. Because when you add the sign above the crossbeam, and you have the horizontal line of the crossbeam, and then the vertical line of the actual supporting beam and the sign up on top, it makes a cross. So it’s not a thing to argue over obviously because it doesn’t matter. The fact was that he was crucified.
They’re making a big point out of nothing. And it’s not as they say. But they change their)), that’s why it’s so amazing here. I’ve got several witness books right nearby me here in my library. And they have pictures of Christ on a cross. So they change their theology as they go along. Well thank you very much. I’m K Howard, you’re very welcome. And we’re going to go to Larry now in Mason, Michigan, and Larry. Welcome to Bibleline, you are on the air.
Yes, sir. This year, Easter is in March, well, a week from the day I gather, or from Sunday. And Passover is in April, a month later. When did it come untoupled from Passover? Well, that’s just… That’s just the way our politicians have been to kind of get the same time of the year of a year for us. But the Bible of course goes by the lunar month. And if you go by the lunar month you will celebrate it later in April.
But we’re kind of stuck. They do the same thing with Thanksgiving. They always have it on the last Thursday of the month of November and they try to set up these holidays so it works well with business and the commercialism that’s out there associated with this holiday. But the true date is with the lunar moon and that’s in April. Maybe we had to celebrate twice. And maybe the… No, the password’s not wrong. simply that’s the correct time of Passover because it’s linked to the lunar moon shifts back and forth every year.
So that’s correct. But the way that Easter, and I understand that Easter was in the time that the Jerusalem Church was there, it was more of a pagan holiday. Well you have to separate here between the resurrection of Christ and the pagan celebration of the resurrection of Baal and his mother celebrating that whose name was Easter. The of the day.
Easter is actually the name of the mother of Baal and her name in the Old Testament is and when you drop the last three letters, it’s a-star in the English form is Easter. So that’s always been pagan. But Satan planned a counterfeit. And obviously he’s a great Bible scholar. He’s been around thousands of years and has studied the Bible and knows exactly when God had predicted that Christ would come and die to pay for our sins because it’s all there in the Old Testament, in pictures and types.
And so he had it down and he had his counterfeit. And so bail is the counterfeit of Christ. And Easter is the name of bail’s mother. And that celebration is ever around. But it coincides obviously with the time of the Passover. And so technically Easter or the pagan observance also should have been the same week as the Passover. But that’s not going to happen this year. Because again, we have our politicians getting involved in setting a consistent date every year as to when What was the reason when the resurrection of the sun would occur?
Well, one last time, on the cross, King of the Jews was written in Greek, Hebrew and Latin. I understand that when you were in Israel, you mentioned Jerome translated the Vulcate in Latin. That’s great. He took the New Testament and… translated the Greek into Latin. It was at Bethlehem that translation took place. He spent a great part of his life living in Bethlehem and made the translation there. I thought I understood. Thank you so much. We were glad that we were able to broadcast from Israel and share our trip each day and just a portion of it obviously because as I said I think on the radio we’d have to just be live all 10 hours a day while we were walking around and cheering but we gave you a little bit of a view of what we were doing.
Thank you Larry and that was Larry up in Manson, Michigan we have now Angel in Tampa, Florida Angel welcome to Viva and you’re on the air. Yeah, I’m… I just want to ask you something, Pastor, if you reach your audience across the world, from that’s not Louis Daniel, he is going to grab bad pain, his wife betrayed him. He’s in the mode of hatred and thinking about killing and I talk to him and he feels shameful. So you don’t have to feel ashamed.
He doesn’t know the Bible so I cannot go and talk to him about David and all the things of sexual morality back in the Bible and all that. So he doesn’t know I’m glad that you believe what I believe. I don’t have to ask this question. I’ve tried the Bible, man. I’ve been telling people about the restoration of the Edile and went in agro-people who were by tradition. This tradition is killing a lot of people, man. Well, I think it’s interesting to know the truth, Angel, is to what really did happen.
It’s clear that he died on the preparation of the Passover. and that week the Passover was on Thursday and so the preparation day was Wednesday and so Christ was really nailed in the cross at 9 o’clock on Wednesday morning and at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday he died. He was placed in the grave at 6 p.m. And obviously if Christ is giving his nakers a chance to get a chance to get a chance to get a chance statement of three days and three nights 72 hours that works exactly the way it should be but if you try to get 72 hours between Friday and Sunday you just can’t Can’t do it.
People don’t want to believe in it. I think we’re at the end days. The church is there. I’m here. You know, I don’t have a congregation. You are my congregation. I also love you. Pray for you. I listen to you for a listen to WTVN and moody. Read my Bible every day. And I told my son, look, God is the sanctuary. You don’t need nothing else. You need Jesus getting in Him in that sanctuary and get on your knees and pray.
You know, asking to forgive. You know, to say, that’s all I can do. Ask you to pray for Him. in the moon. And God bless you man. I don’t know. Maybe I come to you congregation of resurrection. I would be wonderful. I’d love to have you. And of course… course on our service, we have a sundown service on Saturday before resurrection Sunday morning. You know, I like to tell people let’s use the R word, not the E word because the R word is the good word resurrection.
And I don’t like to use the word Easter at all if I can avoid it because it really is the name of the mother of Baal. And I certainly don’t celebrate her. I celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ again from the dead. That’s exciting. And we’re so glad to be able to be with you. We had a wonderful trip and if you called in yesterday and they told you I was I think I ate a bad lunch and got some food poisoning, but I don’t have any flu or virus.
I’ve been in really good health and enjoyed the trip and all these things that have been going on. But I did eat a bad meal that put me down for about 12 hours anyway. So thank you for your calls and thank you for your prayers and we hope that you’re excited about this Sunday in the following week. This is the special week of the year when we celebrate the resurrection of Christ. His crucifixion week really began with Palm Sunday when he is proclaimed to be the Messiah.
The people cried out, Hosanna, to the son of David, a Messianic title. And he goes into the temple and there the religious leaders reject him and he’s on a collision course with Calvary. Anyway, I want to say hi to Miami. We’re so glad that you folks down there are listening and enjoying. I hope you are. And we’re getting more and more calls from Miami. hope that we can get the one hour someday. But we need your help, please pray for us, and if you can help us financially, we need to be able to pay for that second half hour if we can get it, and we need your help to do that.
God bless you, and have a great weekend, and celebrate Palm Sunday this Sunday with a lot of excitement. Anyway, we’re going to go back to the illustrations that have not yet gone on break, and we’ve got a little bit of time left here before we go on the break, and we’ll come back and do a second half hour. But let me say we have a lot of wonderful resources. We have some very inexpensive things in our books. We have a booklet by Dr.
Erwin Lutzer that is so powerful as a witnessing tool, especially if somebody is anticipating a death or has just experienced a death in their family. It’s called One Minute After You Die and we have a small size of that book for a gift of $7 and we have a larger size for people that can’t read as well. This is a larger print for I think $14, but that’s a powerful, powerful witnessing tool and many people have gotten saved by getting one minute after you die by Erwin Litzer.
We have it in the small size for the price of $7 and a larger print size. The reason for the price of 14 is really worth it to invest in somebody to give them peace and comfort about what happens at death and tells them how they too can receive the gift of eternal life and be certain of going to heaven when they die. That is truly exciting. And I hope that you’ll maybe take advantage of this and many other things.
If you want a resource sheet, you can call and our operators will be glad to send you one free of charge in the mail. Also you can call and get that crucifixion check. and call it as as for the Crucifixion Week Chart, and we’ll send that out free of charge, I’m sorry. and we hope that you’ll take advantage of all the things we have here in our Bibleline Resource Center. We’re excited about bringing this program to you, and I hope that you will be listening on the Internet over the weekend, because you can hear our programs as many times as you want.
Plus, you can catch our Sunday Worship Service this Sunday from wherever you might be, and I hope you’ll take advantage of that as well. as well. We’re excited about being with you and I hope that you’ll tell your friends about Bible Island help us grow our lives. We’re going to go to break now and we’ll come back and do a second half hour so stay tuned as Bible Islanders pay for it. Don’t go away Bibleline will be back in a moment.

You know, just last month, that seven minute video I have at the beginning of my website that you can skip and bypass if you want, but we had last month 14,500 people that watched just that seven minute video. And we’re amazed at how many people are finding our site from all over the world. So far, 155 countries have logged on to the Bibleline website. Isn’t that incredible? I am just amazed.

When we were up in National and National Religious Broadcasters Convention, we met a gentleman who is now going to take our television programs, translate them into Turkish and broadcast them via satellite into Turkey. Turkey is a nation that is full of television sets and that’s exciting to see what God is doing there in Turkey and in any case we’re excited about what God is doing. We’re gonna go ahead and do a second half hour here of Bible and so stay tuned.
When you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lynch from a question you can just Pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We are looking forward to being with you all of next week, which is the special special special week of the year when we celebrate the crucifixion week.
We believe Christ was cruc said that he would be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. And if you count those three days and three nights from the time his body was placed in the grave at sundown, then Christ had to rise from the dead at sundown as well. Maybe this has caused some questions for you. Maybe you’d like to call and ask those questions here on the air. And we hope that you’ll call us and ask your question on the air.
The phone number is, if you’d like it, is 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771, and we hope that you will give us a call, and we’ll be glad to answer your question here on Bible Land. That’s 1-800-576-3771. 1-800-576-3771. And we hope that you’ll 1-800-576-3771. And we hope that you’ll give us a call and we will try to answer your question. Again, that’s a question. Again, at numbers 1-800-576-3771, we had a wonderful trip to Israel and we just returned from two weeks over there.
If you would like to go on the next trip with us, we would encourage you to call us and give us your name and information. We’ll try to stay in tune with you. We would like to know from you when would be the best time for you to go. 952 We would like to know from you what additional country would you might possibly like to visit in addition to Israel, maybe Egypt, maybe Petra in southern Jordan, maybe Greece. We are looking at what you might like to do and we want to include your thoughts as we plan this trip so the next trip will be the dream trip of your life.
We had such a marvelous time on this past trip. We got to see so many things throughout Israel. And we had a spectacular time. And we wish that you had been with us, but you can maybe plan to get in on the next one. I know a number of people that went this past time want to go again. And people who went on the previous trip want to go. So we ought to have a wonderful group and we’ll have a great time.
And I’d love to have you on board. Don’t forget that this weekend is the third Sunday, and we’re going to have a dinner Sunday, But it’s also Palm Sunday, a very, very special Sunday, marking the beginning of the Crucifixion Week. If you are in driving business, we invite you to come by. If not, if you want to catch our worship service, you can catch it live on the Internet. All you have to do is go to BibleLineMinistries.org. And if you do that at 11 o’clock Sunday morning, you’ll catch the worship service live as we come on the air.
And if you want to go back and catch it again and again and again and again, you can go into the archives. We have one year’s worth of sermons sitting there in archive that you can watch at your pleasure. I hope you’ll do that and take advantage of the Bibleline program on the air, on the Internet, 24-7. Plus our radio programs. Click on the spinning globe, you’ll get the radio programs. Click on the TV set, you’ll get our television programs, and click on the camera and you’ll get our worship services.
There’s much much more, but I hope that you’ll take advantage of all that. If you saw one of our television broadcasts, the last night was our television program we’re on Direct TV, channel 367, every Thursday night at 630 nationwide. So if you have Direct TV, you can catch us on World Harvest Television every Thursday night at 630 on channel 367 on World Harvest Television. We’re excited about being able to bring the program to the nation and we had a lot of phone calls coming in last night from the program of those who were listening across America to the television program.
But our radio programs go out every day and if you miss a program guess what? You can go back and catch it as often as you want and I hope you will because you can catch them on the internet on our website. website as you go to Bible admins. and You can fast forward, you can back it up, you can pause it, and you can just really take your time with the program and listen to portions that you want to hear again over and over and over again.
That’s nice. And with our television programs the same way. If you click on the TV camera and you get our programs up, you can fast forward, you can go back, and that’s really nice. You can pause it, and you can’t do that with the live radio. So there’s an advantage to being able to do that. We’re going to go to an anonymous caller here in Tampa, Florida, and anonymous. Let us know. You’re welcome to Bibleline you’re on the earth.
Hi. Yes. I’m talking about resurrection, you know, proof was at very evening. You can even found a little bit more in it. I’ll be happy to hear the fact that as the Christ died and said in Matthew 1240 he would be in the in the grave 72 hours. He said it would be three days and three nights. In the Bible the day period is 12 hours and the night period is 12 hours. If you read John’s Gospel chapter 11 verse 9 Jesus said ours are not 12 hours in the day period and there are 12 hours also in the night period.
And so 12 and 12 is 24 hours. That’s one day a period of darkness, a period of light and he said he’d be three days and three nights and that’s 72 hours. So we know and I’m sure you are aware of the fact that Christ was buried in the afternoon and was placed in the grave by sundown as the Passover was going to begin at sundown. The Jewish people count their days from sundown to sundown. So at sundown Christ was buried.
If he is in the grave 72 hours then he has to come out three days later at sundown. If you leave Christ in the grave till Sunday morning that is an extra night period. And that would be in Christ for being in the grave three days and four nights. Jesus said he would be in the grave three days and three Now who do you believe? I believe Christ told us the straight story. He didn’t say I’ll be in the grave three days and four nights.
He said I’ll be in the grave three days and three nights. That’s Matthew 1240. And so that puts the resurrection at Saturday sundown. But you have to remember at sundown on Saturday the Sabbath ends and Sunday begins. You see the Jewish people have their night first. So today is Friday. And guess what? the Sabbath for the Jewish people will begin tonight at sundown. And that means tonight is Saturday night if you’re Jewish. And if you drive by a synagogue tonight after sundown, you’ll see the parking lot full because the Jewish people start their Sabbath worship tonight and the Sabbath begins at sundown tonight.
And then it ends tomorrow, Saturday, at sundown and actually at 6 p.m. or approximately sundown Saturday, Sunday night begins first and then Sunday follows. So Christ rose, we believe it sundown, 72 hours after His place in the grave. And when they came in the morning, they didn’t see the resurrection. They discovered the empty tomb. They walked into the tomb and Christ was not there. He was already gone. How much earlier did He rise? We believe at least 12 hours earlier Christ had already risen from the dead.
I sure hope that helps a little bit, anonymous. Okay, well thank you so much for your call. That was anonymous from Tampa, Florida. We have Armando from St. Petersburg. Armando, welcome to Bibleline You’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Linksra. Good morning. My question is Matthew 21 verse 7. If you can explain to me, it seems like the Matthew said that there were two donkeys and Jesus wrote them and then that’s my version. Good evening, I can you explain that to me?
All right, I’ll give it a try. In Matthew 21, it’s, I think you said verse 7, it says, and he brought the ass and the and put on them their clothes and they set him there on. So, you know, the mother and the cult couldn’t be separated. You know, that just wouldn’t happen. So obviously he didn’t ride on the baby, but he rode on the mother. And so they were both there, but he only rode on the one. But you can’t separate him.
And you wouldn’t expect that the donkey would cooperate with her baby baby, being left behind. Okay, because the version he said he wrote on them, you know, it’s like a Spanish version. I said. But he only wrote on the one. I know. I tried to figure him, you know, he read and he don’t get at the same time. But the baby donkey obviously went along with him. Okay, thank you very much. You’re so welcome. you Armando for calling in and that was from St.
Petersburg. If you’d like to call in the Thank you very much. The number is 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. And we hope that you’re not going to be able to get the information. We hope you’ll give us a call. You have a question. And again, of course, I’d like to invite you to go to Israel with me. We’re going to be going again. And we want you to be a part of that trip. If you’ll simply give us your name and your number, we’ll be glad to keep you abreast of our plans.
And that will help you also to plan so that you can make sure that you are available to go at the time we’re going to go. And you can actually influence this by telling us what would be the best time of year for you to go. So let us know and we’ll get you on board with us on this next trip to Israel. So give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. We’re going to go to Lakeland, Florida. Now we have Moni and Moni.
Welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Yes, sir, Dr. Hank. I had a question about Matthew chapter 19 and pretty much verse 16 through 26. I was wondering if you can kind of just explain that whole story, especially when it says in verse 21 when Jesus told him, you know, if that would be perfect. and everything. I’m kind of confused. I think sometimes people get this story on you know mixed up and can you just kind of explain how hang up on this.
Alright absolutely and you know what we have going on here is two different things. This is why it’s important to rightly divide the word of God. If you look at 2 Timothy 2 15 it says study to show that I self approved unto God as a workman, a workman, that’s talking about the Christian life. It says here that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. One day, believers will give an account for what they’ve done since they’ve been saved.
And some will be ashamed and some will be not ashamed. And if you’re rightly dividing or sending the truths of God’s word in right order, then you’ll not have to be ashamed. The key thing here in the inverse Verse 21 is, he says, come and follow me. Two things are going on. Let me just have you underscore the word come. That’s how you become saved. A little bit earlier in Matthew 11, in verse 28, Jesus says, come unto me, and I will give you rest.
Come unto me all ye that labored are heavy laden, and I will give. It’s a gift. All you have to do is come to Christ to be saved. When you trust Him as your Savior, God saves you. Then He says, follow me. Now in Matthew 419 Christ said that his disciples follow me and I will make you fishers of men. So two things are going on here. They simply come to Christ to be saved. But then after you’re saved, if you follow him and if you do what Christ would have you to do as a believer after you’re saved, then you’re going to have treasures in heaven.
And that’s what he’s talking about in verse 21. But to be saved, all you have to do is come to Christ. And of course the disciples even got mixed up on this. So if you feel like you’re the only one, you’re not. When the disciples heard it verse 25, they were exceedingly amazed and said, who then can be saved? And Jesus beheld them and said unto them, with men this is impossible. But with God all things are possible. In other words, he’d earlier said to go to heaven, you’d have to be as righteous as the law demands.
You’d have to keep all the commandments perfectly. And nobody’s ever been able to do that. So that’s impossible with men to keep the commandments. But Jesus, he gives or credits the believer with his righteousness so that you’re seen as righteous as the law demands so you can enter heaven. So when you come to Christ, you find that God gives you his righteousness when you trust him as your Savior. Then if you follow him, he’ll reward you according to your faithful service.
I hope that helps a little bit. I’m now going to go to Scott in the St. Petersburg. Scott, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the end. Good morning, that’s going to come. I called you up in the shooting room before you went to Israel. And I had a question about the tribulation being seven years. And then after you told me to look at Daniel, I started thinking that if the tribulation period, the great tribulation period would be 2012, because there’s all this crosswalk 2012, the mind calendar and the tribulation would The Star probably this year is what I was thinking and now remember and listen you’re listening to you and last year you’re saying something about That the Rapture would you would believe that the Russia would happen on a feast day?
The Feast of Trumpets which will be this September and so we couldn’t watch this year would that be something? Yeah, it’d be great On the way up Okay, great. I’m I’m gonna come out to to your service this Sunday. Wonderful. That was great, Scott. And God bless you. But the tribulation period is that seven-year period, the darkest hours at the world of experience that will follow the rapture. It’s not a time for us who are believers in this age.
We’re members of the Church or the Body of Christ. But it’s a time the Bible describes as a time of Jacob’s trouble. Remember Jacob was the grandson of Abraham and his 12 sons became the 12 tribes of Israel and it says in Jeremiah chapter 30 that this time of trembling and so on would come upon Jacob’s descendants and it says here in verse 7 which is the verse I would like to point out to you in Jeremiah 30 verse 7, alas for that day is great so that there is none like It is even the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.
So here we have the Lord telling us that the tribulation period will actually be a period where the Jewish people will be made ready for their Messiah. And we believe that many, many Jewish people are going to turn to the Lord and receive him as their Savior. And then Christ will come back and rule and reign over this earth and finally bring peace. So there’s a wonderful future ahead. But before that wonderful future, peace on earth can take place.
There will be a seven year tribulation period that will follow the rapture. Alright, we’re now, let’s see here, going to go to our next caller. And that is Grace, and she is calling in from St. Petersburg and Grace. Welcome to Babylon, you’re on the air. Hi there, this is Grace. Thank you for having me on the air. I have a question for you. Okay. And the first one is about the Sabbath. Are we required to keep that anymore? Or is it Sunday?
Because I know that. I hear some people say that when you worship on Sunday, you’re worshiping the sun. But I don’t find that to be true. No, it’s not true at all. We’re worshiping the Esau and not the Suen. Jesus came back from the dead on the first day of the week. And the early Christians began to worship on the first day of the week. You know Pentecost, which was the beginning of this age, was on a Sunday. And so the birthday of the church age or of the church was on a Sunday.
And if you read, let me just give you one example in Acts chapter 20. We have the believers coming together to worship. And you’ll find it says here in verse 7 of Acts 20, upon the first day of the week when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them. So that’s when they got together. If you read 1 Corinthians 16 verses 1, 2, and 3, it talks about how the Corinthian believers got together on the first day of the week to worship.
And so we’re not under the Sabbath. And by the way, Colossians 2 tells us we’re not obligated to keep the Sabbath because that was a part of the law that Christ died and paid for and or satisfied and nailed it to His cross and took it out of the way. So it says in Colossians 2, 16, let no man therefore judge you in need or in respect of and hold a day or of the new moons or of the Sabbath.
So we’re not under the Sabbath anymore. That’s for the Jew, never given to the Gentile, but we as Gentile believers in this age celebrate the Lord’s Resurrection on the first day of the week. Thank you. I have another question for you now about tithes. Are we required to pay that? I know that if you really love that, you will give them your very best, according to the New Testament, because giving is stressed there. and I was talking with my sister about it, and she said that that’s why I tried because I love God.
So I think that should be between you and the Lord about that. Well, I think you’re exactly right. The time was actually under the Old Testament law, and again, we’re not under the law, but we’re under grace. And somebody once said, which I think makes a lot of sense, since should we give less under grace, then we were obligated to give under the law. And so I think 10% is a good percentage to give, but we’re not under the law God wants us to give from the heart.
I like 2 Corinthians chapter 9 where it says that we’re not to give because of the necessity nor are we to give grudgingly because we’re just forced to do it. But he says God loves a hilarious or one who gives from the heart. Somebody gives freely because he wants to and you have it right on the head. You hit a rattle the head. Thank you very much. Thank you Grace. That was Grace over in St. Petersburg. We have now James and Tampa on the line and James.
Welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Oh, yes. They got saved obviously and that began the church age and then the Jewish people that became saved or were saved the Pentecost carried the gospel out and you see in chapter eight the gospel goes to Samaria through Philip and then the Then chapter 10 goes to the Gentiles through Cornelius and Peter bringing the gospel to his Gentile friends and family. And then the gospel spreads out through the apostle Paul’s ministry to the Gentile nations in this age.
God really has a turn to us Gentiles for the past 2000 years. And in Romans, three chapters in particular described really well God’s purpose for this Age chapters 9, 10, and 11 of Romans deal with the fact that the Jewish people have been set on the side and the blindness has come over them. But God has turned to us Gentiles and God said that part of the plan of that was to provoke Jews to jealousy that we would have the Messiah and Jesus as our Savior and the message of the gospel and that we should be, we as Gentiles now are to proclaim that message back to the Jew.
I agree with what all you’re saying. We skipped over what I was saying. That was a festival for history. Which is one they do every year. Of course. Right, now let me just say a word here because all these festivals, these feast days that God gave, they’re all seven of them in Leviticus 23, were pictures of future prophetic events relating to Christ. The first one was Passover, and Christ died as the Passover Lamb, not just for the Jews, but for the whole world.
The next feast of unleavened bread pictured is burial, his body being placed in the grave. The next one was the feast of first fruits, was a picture of the resurrection and Christ rose on that day, he’s called the first fruits of the resurrection. Then Pentecost pictured the coming of the Holy Spirit in the beginning of this age, and then we believe the feast of trumpets which occurs in the fall will picture the rapture when the Holy Spirit is taken out and the church is caught up to meet with the Lord, then the Feast of Atonement, which is a picture of Israel going through the tribulation and a turning for his sins, and then the last Feast of Tabernacles, picturing Christ, actually tabernacleing into human body, ruling here on the earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords for the thousand year reign of Christ.
So we believe that they are all prophetic pictures and yes they were given to Jews, were given to Israel, but they had a picture of God’s overall plan for the whole world. Ah, that’s your case. I guess. Well, you know, if you look a little bit closer in the video, you’ll find that that was only for all the Israelites, the Hellpenny calls. Well, I agree with you on that, then. I think… And I thank you, James, for bringing that up.
And obviously, it was for the Israelites to realize God’s future plan was to include the Gentiles one day, and that’s what happened. We’re now going to go to Mike in Richmond, Virginia. Mike, welcome to Babylon. You’re on there. Yes, Dr. Lindstrom. I wanted to ask real quick and I won’t expose some time, but about this Les Elvick, I guess, is his name. Well, first of my church has gotten kind of caught up in his teachings and stuff, and I just wanted to get real quick.
Your impression of who he is and what he teaches. Well, for this age, he’s right on. He teaches that people are saved differently in different ages, that people the Old Testament were saved by the law, and people know I was saved by building the ark and so on. This is what is called hyper-dispensationalism. If you go to my website on the left side, there’s online books and we have three. The third one is called, wrongly dividing the word of truth.
I believe that West Velvet is in that category and it’s a very powerful presentation by Harry Ironsides describing exactly that belief system. So I would disagree. I really feel it’s a blast for me. The Bible tells us that everybody has ever been saved by the blood of Christ, those in the Old Testament and in the New Testament were saved by His death at the cross. Absolutely. All right, thanks a lot. You’re sure welcome. And we thank you for listening today.
