By the way, we just got back from Israel a couple of weeks ago and we had a wonderful trip. Everything was great. The food was great. The hotels were great. The weather was great. It was a safe time and we just saw so much and had so many wonderful experiences, especially seeing the Tomb of Christ and the Hill of Calvary and to be able to actually be there where all these things took place that the Bible records for us.
We’re going to go again. We’d like to have you called and get on our list of those that might be interested in going. It doesn’t commit you, but at least we’ll keep in touch with you and you’ll be able to know what we’re doing and we want your input. If you could tell us when you’d like to go, what would be best for you? And we might add another country. Besides Israel to the trip, maybe Egypt, maybe Jordan, maybe Greece.
So please let us know what your preferences are. and we’ll certainly listen to what you have to say. We’re gonna get into the Bible, and then we’ll be taking our callers. By the way, we are gonna be teaching second Peter here, beginning April 1st for five Tuesday nights, from seven to nine, and if you’re in driving distance, we invite you to come and sit in on those classes. That’s second Peter, we just finished first Peter, 10 hours of teaching before we left for Israel, But now we’re going to do second Peter and complete the series on first and second Peter.
Ten hours of teaching, it’ll be a lot of fun. We invite you to be a student here. It’ll be for a charge of $50, which is just $5 per class. And that’ll help buy a blind and also it’ll take care of expenses. But we’d love to have you come. That’ll be second Peter. And if not, you can order them on CV and DVD when we complete the classes. By the way, we just finished the class before this. Before 1 Peter was John’s Gospel, 20 Hours of Teaching.
We’ve also done many other books of the Bible. About 40 different presentations are available. You can call and ask for those. Many of them are on CD and DVD. Popular one is the book of Revelation. That is really an exciting study. We hope that you’ll take advantage and call and maybe order that. calling our 800 number, 1-800-576-3771. You’re always welcome to come by and visit us. We have visitors coming by here all the time from all over, and our resource centers open every day till about 430 Eastern Standard Time.
But if you can’t get by because you live in another city, another state, you can go to the website BibleLineMinistries.org, and there you can visit our resource center. You can also listen to our radio programs like clicking on the spinning globe. You can watch our television programs by clicking on the TV camera and you can also catch our worship services. And there’s a whole years where the sermon’s sitting there. Just go and click on the camera. And if you do that at 11 o’clock Sunday morning, you’ll catch the worship service live.
But any other time of day of the week, you can catch it in archive and there’s all the last years where the sermon’s there waiting for you. Sure, you’re going to be with you and we’re about ready to get into the Bible right now, so if you have your Bible handy, you might want to get it out. What is amazing is I hear so many people use phrases that they don’t even think about. They’ve heard them so many times that they flow just out of their mouth without even thinking and yet they’re terribly wrong.
He said, I believe we need to be careful what we say if we are not examining what we say. We might say things that are not correct. For example, I hear all the time people say that Joe gave his life to Christ and is saved. Or Susie gave her heart to Christ. All that sounds good, but guess what? You’re not saved by giving your life to Christ. You’re not saved by giving your heart to Christ. You’re not saved by giving your life to Christ.
You’re not saved by giving your life to Christ. You’re not saved by giving your life to Christ. Christ, that is exactly the opposite of what the Bible teaches. The Bible teaches that God is the giver and we’re the receivers. And when you trust Christ, trust that He died and shed His blood to pay for your sin, you receive the gift of eternal life. Let me give you a great verse, John 1, 12. It says to as many as received Him to them God gave authority for you to become the sons of God to those that believe on His name.
So you’ll notice that one of a verse that God is the giver. We’re the receivers, but whenever you tell someone that they have to give their life to Christ to be saved, it makes you the giver or that person the giver and God the receiver, can you see that it’s 180 degrees out of phase? It is the exact opposite of what the Bible teaches. No word is the Bible say that we give anything to God to be saved. Nothing we do can save us.
The only way we can be saved is to receive the wonderful gift of God. God again is the giver where the receivers, for example, Romans 623 says the gift of God. The gift of God, the gift of God, is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians 2 8 says by grace, by mercy, on merit and favor, and you save through faith in Jesus Christ and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God. In John chapter 5, 1 John 5, 11, it says this is the record that God has given to us eternal life and this life is in his Son.
So eternal life is the gift of God and we simply receive it by trusting Christ as our Savior. And to try to say that you must give God something to be saved is the exact opposite. And obviously that’s a work of self and is absolutely contrary and foreign to the scriptures. So guess what? This is a matter of life and death. If a physician malpractices what happens the patient dies. That’s probably the worst scenario of malpractice for a medical doctor.
But guess what? As Christians, when we malpractice, the person goes to hell. That’s far worse than physical death. It is the eternal death, the separation of a person from God and Hell, and Christians are malpracticing all over the place. Preachers are malpracticing. It’s amazing. Think about it. Christian preachers malpracticing because they are saying that you have to give something to God to be saved when God is the one who is the giver, we’re the receivers. But when you say you must give your life to Christ, you’re making God the receiver and we’re the givers and that is exactly the opposite.
Can you see that? It’s the opposite of what the Bible teaches. The Bible teaches that there’s nothing that we can do to earn our way to serve heaven or to buy salvation. But in every case, it is God who does the reconciling, it is God who does the giving, it is God who provides salvation, and it’s not based upon what we have done, but it’s based upon what he has done for us. Romans 4-5 says it so clearly, it says, but to him that works if not.
In other words, the one who does not work but would believe on Christ who justifies in Godly his faith in Christ is counted for righteousness. So it’s only through faith in Christ that a believer can become saved. When you trust him as the one who died for you, God saves you. If you’d like to call us here at Bible and the numbers 1-800-576-3771, we’d love to hear from you. We have lots of all fair questions. We’re going to try to catch as many of those as we possibly can today to try to catch up a little bit, but you’re welcome to call us at 1-800-576-3771.
I’m Dr. Engvens from Mrs. Byblind. It’s great to be with you today. We’re going to go to LaSette in Pembroke, Pines, Florida, and LaSette says, why does God allows bad things to happen to people like cancer, the death of a child, tragic accidents, etc. and what do you say to somebody who is going through it and doubting God’s existence? Well, you have to blame it all, not on the God of the universe, the sovereign God who created the universe at us, but you have to blame it on Satan.
Did you know that Satan is called the God of this world? Under God’s sovereignty, God has allowed Satan to become the God of this world. He was here before Adam and Eve. He was here on the earth and given the title of the God of this world way back there before the seven days of the recreative week. We believe when the earth was originally created, it was created perfect and inhabited, plants, animals, dinosaurs and all of God’s angels. How do we know that?
Well, Isaiah 45, 18 says that God, when He created the earth, created it perfect, He created it inhabited, and guess what? It says He did not create it vain. The word vain in the Hebrew is the same word translated void in Genesis 1, 2. So God did not create the earth void and without form as you find the earth in Genesis 1, 2. That was the result of Satan’s fall when Satan attempted to overthrow heaven and take a third of the angels that were under his control here on the earth and lead an invasion from the earth to heaven.
And God cast them back down and judge the earth and judge Satan in his angels. But yet to this very day, Satan still retains that title in 2 Corinthians 4-4, he’s called the God of this world. And so he still has that title. So when you see things you don’t like in this world, you have to blame the God of this world, which is Satan. There’s a word verse over in 1 John that really got my attention. I used to hear that song.
He’s got the whole world in his hands. He’s got the whole world in his hands. He’s got the whole world in his hands. Well, I used to like to sing that years ago. I read 1 John 5 19 and the Bible says the whole world life in the hands of the wicked one. That’s Satan. I stopped singing that song. I really, really had a wake up call there because this present world that you don’t like, that the headlines are so horrifying is really under the control of Satan.
And not until the second coming of Jesus Christ will Satan be taken and bound up and the earth will finally be delivered from the curse and the earth will be at peace. And that’s probably not too far away. If the rapture happened today, seven years later, Christ would come in all of His power, all of His glory, Satan would be taken and bound up and the earth would finally be at peace. But we have to blame Satan because he’s the one who’s the God of this world.
So if you don’t like the headlines, don’t blame the God of creation, the God of the universe. Blame the God who is now presently in charge of this world system and that is none other than the devil. We’re going to go to James now, excuse me, Jason in Ruskin, Florida. He leaves this off her question. At what point after the unsafe person dies, do they learn why they’re in heaven or why they’re going to help? They know instantly, instantly.
Second Corinthians 5, 8, for the believer, it says, absent from the body, present with the Lord. So you’re immediately present with the Lord upon death. The same thing is true for the unsafe person. from the body present in Hades in Flame and Fire. If you look at Luke 16, beginning in verse 19, you see there are rich men who dies. Immediately he’s in Flame and Torment and he is conscious, he’s aware of his past, he’s aware of his presence, he’s aware of his present state in Flame and Torment, he has no second chance, he’ll eventually want him been held forever, but they know immediately upon death.
I tell people that don’t believe in God or don’t believe in the Bible, just don’t stop breathing. The instant that a person dies if they’re an unbeliever becomes a believer, they believe in hell, they believe in heaven, they believe the Bible is the Word of God, they believe Jesus Christ is the Savior. But immediately upon death they discover how wrong they were. We have another offer question here done in Las Vegas, Nevada, writes in and he says, Jesus said, the Father and I are one.
But then when asked when he would return, he said, neither he nor the angels know, but only the Father. How do you explain that? Very easily. It’s very interesting and I discovered this by reading in the Amplified Bible and the amplified Bible and we have it in stock at our Resource Center here has the Greek and Hebrew words looked up and put right in the text for you so you don’t have to do all that homework. I happened to be reading it years ago and I discovered something that I would not have discovered probably because who looks up the word but, B-U-T, in your concordance to look up the original Greek word and see how it should be rendered.
But I’m going to read the verse here in Mark’s Gospel, chapter 13 verse 32, where Jesus says of that day and that hour, no man, no not the angels which are in heaven, Neither the Son but the Father. Well, guess what? I discovered reading the Amplified Bible. All of a sudden the word but I saw that it could be rendered and should be rendered if not. If not. If not. Now let me read it, putting that meaning there and it says here of that day and that hour, no, if no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, if not the Father.
And I think that’s the answer. Obviously Jesus Christ is God and being God, He’s omniscient. And if He’s omniscient, He knows all things. And therefore, how can He be ignorant about when He’s coming back? And only the Father knows but not the Son. Obviously, in John’s Gospel chapter 5, Jesus says, He knows all things that the Father knows and vice versa. So they are both members of the Godhead, eternally existing members of the triune Godhead. I hope that answers it for you, Don, out in Las Vegas, Nevada.
That is in the word, but there should be translated, if not. That’s Mark 13, verse 32. If you want to look it up and if you have the amplified Bible, it will point that out to you. Mr. Anonymous calls in and he leaves an offer a question, can the devil enter Christians? And the answer is no. That’s always been true. And by the way, Judas had Satan interned to him. Why? Judas was not a believer. Judas was not a believer.
Judas was not a believer. Judas went to hell because he never trusted Christ as his Savior. And we find that if you look at John 664, it tells us that Jesus said he knew from the beginning who they were that believed not and who should betray him. And he talks about Judas there being an unbeliever. And as an unbeliever, we find that Satan could enter in. We find as far as us being believers, God the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in our bodies at the moment we believe.
I will tell you, Satan, nor do the demons, would have dwelled in the same body with God the Holy Spirit. And we have a wonderful verse in 1 John chapter 4 verse 4, where it says, Greater is He that is in you than He, Satan, that’s in the world. Christ or the Holy Spirit is greater than Satan and he is the one who dwells in us and therefore a believer cannot be in dwelt. We are in dwelt with the Holy Spirit, no demon wants to be in the same body.
We have got the Holy Spirit, I guarantee you. So thanks for that question anonymous, but the devil cannot in dwelt. Now the devil can influence, the devil can oppress, the devil can do a number of things, but he cannot possess or indwell a believer. We have Kathy in parish Florida. She calls in and leaves this off her question. She says, I heard you say that Jesus made a bona fide offer to the Jews for the kingdom. If Jesus had not been rejected and therefore crucified, how would sin have been paid for?
Well it would not have been paid for and obviously God in his foreknowledge knew what was going to take place. So we’re just speculating here but we do know that he did offer to them. They turned it down. They rejected him. He went to the cross and obviously God knew what was going to take place and that’s why he He planned it the way he did, and he’s now turned to us Gentiles during this past 2000 years. But had Christ been received, this past 2000 years would not have occurred, we would never have been born, history would have been totally different.
Thank you, Kathy. But God Ford knew that man would fall, and also that the Jews would reject Christ as their Savior, the first go round. We have Luan in Branford, Florida, calling in and she leaves this off her question. She says the Bible says it’s appointed a woman once to die. There is also references to belonging and shortening life. Some say this is a biblical contradiction. Please explain. Well, obviously, we all… We know that Hezekiah because of sin, God was going to take his life early.
We know if you read the Old Testament. Hezekiah got his life corrected and straightened out and guess what? God added back the 15 years He was going to take away and Hezekiah lived 15 more years. Many in the New Testament, the Bible describes had their lives straight from the world. had their lives shortened where God took them out before their time. So if you are a believer, you cannot lose your salvation, but you can lose your life. The Word might take you home to heaven soon as you have planned on going.
And there are numerous examples. In 1 Corinthians chapter 5 in verse 1 it talks about a man who is living in adultery with his mother, probably his stepmother, and he is proud and puffed up and is not willing to stop. And So it says there in verse 5 of 1 Corinthians 5 to deliver such a one on the Satan for the destruction of the flesh that the Spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. So the man would be saved when Christ returns, but he would obviously have gone to heaven early.
That’s 1 Corinthians 5 1 through 5. Luanna, I hope that helps. Thank you for calling in. phone number here by the by the way is 1-800-576-3771. Chuck in Tampa, Florida calls in and leaves this offer a question. Were any other writings found within NC Scrolls that were not scripture? And the answer is yes. Absolutely. But again, the 66 books that we have in the Bible, 39 in the Old Testament, 27 in the New Testament were written by authentic spokespersons for God and Peter tells us in one wonderful verse that were to believe all of the scriptures Old in New Testament and he tells us one of the ingredients there and that is that they’re written by Authenticatous bookspersons for God.
He says here in verse 2 of chapter 3 of 2 Peter that you should be mindful I should be mindful. All of us should believe we should be mindful of the words W-O-R-D-S, of the words which were spoken to you before by the Holy Prophets. That’s the Old Testament. And of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, that’s the New Testament. So in order to qualify a scripture, a book has to be written by an authentic spokesperson for God, a profit in the Old Testament or an apostle in the New Testament and I hope that helps.
We’re going to go quickly now to Matthew in Spring Hill, Florida and Matthew, welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. Good morning, Doc Hank. Good morning. Hey, I have a question. Um, the parable or Luke 813. Is that person saved or not? Is that… Is that one by the waysider by the study ground or? The one on the rock and they receive the word. They’re saying. They’re all saved except for the wayside. And what happens is that they are not fruit bearing.
It says here in verse 13, they on the rocker, they which when they hear receive the word with joy and they have no root which for a while believe in a time of temptation fall away. And obviously they don’t bear any fruit. And of course the last category is in verse 15 where it falls on hearing ears, those that are receptive and hungry and they receive the word of God of bear fruit. So I believe it’s a believer, but he doesn’t produce any fruit.
Okay, so what does it mean when it says that? Well, the root being that they don’t get the substance that they need to grow and to be nourished, which is from Christ. The Word of God is, if you don’t take that in, you kind of shrivel up. And it’s talking about the Christian life and not about salvation. I want to say goodbye to Miami real quickly here, Matthew. And Miami, thank you for tuning in. We know you sign off early, but keep listening and God bless you, and we hope that you’ll tune in every day and of course catches on the internet as well.
Sorry about that, man. He had to kind of tell Miami goodbye for a second. So the no-root there is having to do with the fact that they’re not taking in. And obviously the New Testament tells us that in John 15 that we’re branches in the vine and that Christ is without me, you can do nothing. And so So as far as fruit bearing, you need a nutrient that comes from Christ as we feed off of him and his written word.
And as a believer, if we abide in him and he abides it, then we’ll bear much fruit. It says they’re in John 15. And obviously everybody ought to be in that category. I also like to understand I read your article, Faith of that Works with James and it’s pretty clear. For the first 19 he addresses the letter. So I guess that would be talking to people at us. What a stay. If you were getting a change back around and it would prevent him from the Lord taking his life and it would prevent him from dying physically as the Lord might chase and take him home.
Yes. That word solar means life. So I say there’s no life from death and they will not be. Earlier talks about people that are sick because of sin and they sin against other believers. I may be confess that and get it right. My Lord will heal them. And it’s all my physical consequences here to believers all the way right through verse 20. Thank you, Matthew, and I hope that helps. And we are gonna come up on our break here in about two seconds and we’ll come back and do a second half hour of Bibleline.
I hope you’ll stay tuned. And I hope you’ll maybe call a friend and tell him to tune in because we’ll be back for another half hour. And of course, if you have the internet, you can get the entire program not only right now, but any time of day don’t go away by the line will be back to go to call it one eight hundred seven six three seven seven one that’s one eight hundred five seven six thirty seven seventy seven well i’m dr angler’s instrument is great to be with you we sure are enjoying being with you today here on by the line and uh…
thank you for tuning in and being a part of the program and uh… hope that you’ll tell your friends about the program and If you know people in other parts of the country or in other countries of the world, let them know because they can get us on the Internet. The latest country that just logged on is Bhutan, B-H-U-T-A-N, and that country is number 156 that have now logged on to the Bible and website. It’s absolutely amazing to me as we have people in every part of the world, the only continent that we don’t have anybody logged on from is Antarctica.
And maybe there’s some, I guess, penguins or something else that might live there that maybe, if they get in and that would log on, but I don’t think many people live on the continent of Antarctica, so we’re not really concerned. But people all over the world on the other continents have all logged on to Bible. And almost every country has, at least the major, larger ones all have, and that’s exciting. So pray for us as we reach out. We’re hoping to reach the world if we can.
We believe the great commission is real, that we’re to go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature, and we have a responsibility to reach out to everybody that we possibly can. And we’re so excited that Bibleline is able to do that. And we meet people all the time that get saved through Bibleline. It’s amazing. I went out early this morning, I went to breakfast, and there was a gentleman there that say listen to the Bible, I know I was out in a restaurant last week with my granddaughter and as I left the people at the table who said we sure enjoy listening to you on Bible line and we had a technical problem yesterday with our internet.
We talked to somebody up in Georgia and he said Dr. Lindstrom I know him and he listens to Bibleline in Augusta, Georgia on the internet. So we’re just amazed that we hear these reports just constantly and we’re thrilled that God is using Bibleline to reach out to the world with the gospel. Pay for us. And maybe you’d like to help us. We’re listeners supported. You could call in right now and give a gift by credit card over the phone.
Or you can call in as for a mambop to be sent and manually gift a Bibleline, but your gifts are really necessary and an indispensable part of reaching people here on Bible on it. And we sure do thank you for ordering also from our Resource Center and some people calling from time and time and saying, I can get that particular item a little cheaper somewhere else. And we say, that’s fine. But you see, it’s a means of helping keep Bible on on the years.
So you might want to think of it as a donation. Here we go with part two now. Hold on. Would you like to call by the line and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. We are back from that break and this is Bibleline and it is exciting to be able to be with you. We have so many offer questions we have decided to take a bunch of them the first half hour.
If you want to call in now, this is a good time to call 1-800-576-3771. We are going back to Israel and we want to include you. I hope you will call in and get your name on the list of those that are interested in going and we’ll try to keep you updated as we make our plans to visit again Israel in the Middle East. What an exciting thing. We were just experimenting here and we did an experiment just to kind of get across how small Israel is.
We took the state of Florida and we went on the internet and figured out how many square miles are in Florida. Then we looked up and figured out how many square miles were in the state of Israel and we divided. And guess what? We found that you could take eight of the state of Israel and fit them in to the state of Florida. Isn’t that incredible? In other words, Florida is eight times larger than Israel, or you could say it the other way around.
Israel is eight times smaller than the state of Florida. It’s a teeny teeny little country. We could put eight Israels in the state of Florida and it isn’t that amazing. And yet the whole world is focused on that country. And the Bible tells us that the whole world will come to war over Jerusalem. Amazing. Isn’t that incredible? I think that we are seeing a Bible that really is indeed the word of God because who would have ever prophesied something like that when Israel is so teeny and yet today Today we are not laughing.
We know that truly we are in the days when the world is focused in the Middle East and on Jerusalem and truly we can see how the armies of the world could come against Jerusalem as the Bible says. Wow, not about you but against me excited. I think we are in the last days as we are living in a time that Christ spoke about in in 1924 that Israel had become hated above all nations. And we are seeing that anti-Semitism, that hatred all over the place.
And just look at a vintage job of Iran wanting to annihilate Israel. Can you imagine a head of state announcing that they want to nuke and destroy the whole state of Israel, get rid of all the Jews there in the Middle East? It’s amazing, but we’re living in those kinds of times. well we’re going to go ahead and go to the phone lines here where this is a bible line and we’re going to go to ferrell and my amby and ferrell welcome to bible and thank you for holding over the break yes how are you good talking about the the death leading up to the death the timing of the I was fortunate enough to fellowship with the Jewish Christian Communist Assembly and they appointed this out and it’s funny that here’s confirmation.
My question is concerning women pastor. I’m a… i’m assuming that know, they were Christians and felt God called them. If, I guess it’s sort of dynamic. I mean, if we’ve come to a knowledge concerning women pastors, after maybe you’re under women pastor, are we… always leave I believe that this is a set out salvation. I’m well, should I mention that issue, but I feel that it teaches the Bible, but at the same time, it seems to accept in accordance with the word of God.
So I guess the question is, what happens if you’re a signal and a woman pastor? Well, I mean, obviously you can choose to do that, You but they are the ones that are in the wrong to be, there are no women elders or women deacons or women pastors in the Bible. God actually intended for men to be those, but the problem is, is that generally they have a tendency to go doctrinally astray, because women think more with their emotions than they do with their mind and then the opposite.
and uh… and so there’s a tendency in the bible tells us that because it says that eve was uh… the c but adam was not deceived back there in the transcription that’s the first time in the chapter two or talks about why god doesn’t want women in the pulpit and and and uh… k arthor bligal user salvation uh… and all the other i’d always myers bligal user salvation That’s terribly wrong. That’s a terribly major dynamical error. And I can’t find any good Bible teachers that are women.
They just generally all go off. Many cults have been started by women. You’re putting yourself at risk under false teaching. It warns in the Bible about that. Wherever you see and Scofia points is not very well in one of his notes, that whenever you see a woman in the religious arena in the Bible, it’s always a symbol of false doctrine or evil. The last day church in the book Revelation is known as the woman. woman the woman the woman the woman in revolution 17 and I think that’s a that’s a tip off as well so i think that women are smart side women are are wonderful but they’re just not to be pastors about the elders are deacons and church leaders but what do you say that because i know that the men do struggle that is like easier to i don’t make that golden with trying to prove itself
constant conflict salvation i mean when dot is your turn on the field then that can answer the question there and we’ve got to be at the company come back to keep doing it so i agree with you want to say in the book i appreciate your answer i’ve got that sure okay thank you very much thank you for all of the spiro then in my ami we’re not going to build a panelist park for and the bill welcome to buy one year on the air paid out that i don’t get good We’ve got a couple of questions for you here.
I was reading in 1st Corinthians chapter 10 of our say we’re talking about 23,000 fell. Yes. one day And it costs references numbers 25, 1, 2, 9. And in that 25, this 9, it says that 24,000 fell and I was wondering why there’s a difference. Well, let me again tell you why I like the Schofield Bible. At the bottom of my page here in 1 Corinthians 10, Dr. Schofield has a note that says, numbers 25 verse 9, a discrepancy has been imagined.
1 Corinthians 10, 8, gives the number of s in one day. But numbers 25, 9, the total number of s in the plague total. That’s the answer. And that’s why I like the Schofield. has all these problems or imagined problems are often times resolved real quickly boom boom boom and the scofial Bible denotes your a geared to doctrine and boom I just open the page and tells me the answer right here at the bottom Well, okay. I was just wondering, I make sense there.
I have a question. I thought you talked before about Paul being the 12th apostle. And I was in a lot of Catholic friends. And I was in a church one time and on the windows they list the names of the apostles. And they had that Messiah’s voice. Yeah. And I was talking to him and I said that I felt that that was all. I’m like you, I believe, of all the proper possible. And he was saying that because in Acts where Peter said, you know, we have to get the proper possible, and he says because they prayed to God to show them who the apostle would be, uh…
that that is why my fire is that proper possible and he also uses them in that you sixteen nineteen where jesus is what you’re buying on earth will be down or what you’re buying in heaven will be down on earth and what you lose in heaven will be loose on earth saying that that with that what peter basically says goes right well the catheters of the peter’s infallible as they believe the believe the Pope’s are which is totally not true Peter was wrong when a number In here he was out of order.
If you read Acts 1, 5, Jesus said that they were to wait between that period when Christ would ascend there after 40 days of showing himself alive after the resurrection and the 50th day when Pentecost would come and the Holy Spirit would come and enroll the believers. He was not told to conduct business. He was not told to elect an apostle. between that forty-day the ascension of Christ and the fiftieth day the ascension of the Holy Spirit. Peter decided to act on himself on his own to elect this man and he must have been a nice guy.
But obviously Paul the rest of his ministry had to defend his apostleship because of what Peter did there in error. For example if you read Galatians 1, just one example read all the epistles of notice Paul. He starts out every epistle almost with a defense. He says Paul Galatians 1-1 in apostle and then he says not of men and neither by man but by Jesus Christ and God the Father. So here we find, he says I wasn’t elected by any group of men.
I wasn’t appointed by some committee that Peter organized. I was elected by Jesus Christ and God the Father to be an apostle. I think that tells us pretty plainly, and plus you read nothing more in the Bible about Matthias, except in that passage here in Acts 1 where Peter elects him, and he must have been a small guy, but he wasn’t the right man. And I said that to him there about that that he was chosen by men and not by God.
And that’s when he threw that one verse at me about what you bind on earth will be bound in heaven. So I thought, I’m going to find out about that and just say because I just believe you have the right answer on that. that. Thank you very much, and the Catholic Church does a lot of that. For example, I just came back from Israel, and if you go to Jerusalem, they have two different churches where they swear Mary was buried.
There’s a church that I visited in Ephesus, Turkey where they have a church, a Roman Catholic church where they say Mary is buried. That’s probably the likely one. Then the Catholic church also teaches that Mary never died and was ascended to heaven like Christ. Then when you try to ask them what’s true, they say all are true. I mean, it’s craziness. I mean, something’s got to be wrong there. They can’t all be true. But that’s the kind of nonsense we get sometimes.
And they got themselves into a bind by saying that their decisions are infallible and then they wind up contradicting themselves and then they just say it’s every bit of it’s true nothing is false and obviously you know something’s got to be wrong here. So anyway Peter was wrong and Peter did not follow instructions and the Bible is always good about letting us see the flaws of our heroes in the Bible that Peter made mistakes. That was one of the big mistakes that he made.
We’re now going to go to Mike in Largo, Florida and Mike, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hello, Mike, are you there? Yes, yes. I’m here. You’re on the air. Question. I listen to you all the time, but sometimes I make the mistake of turning on the radio a little bit before that if you don’t know the exact number of your salvation, you’re not saved. That’s certainly not true. I can tell you what summer. I can tell you one night of the week because I attended the Bible study that I got saved at the Met was Hello particular night of the week.
But I really can’t tell you. And I know what I’m saying. And that’s the important thing is to know that you’ve trusted Christ as your only hope of heaven. to say you have to know the exact day or hour is nonsense. That is not true at all. I know that I got saved on that Bible study, I attended, but I really can’t go back and look at the calendar and tell you exactly what date on the calendar it was.
I know what night of the week it was. I know it was in the summer right after I graduated from high school, but I have to reflect back now. At the time I didn’t record it and I didn’t seem significant for me to know that and I don’t remember. That’s great. Thank you very much. I just, for some odd reason, I try not to listen too much about what everybody else says because they don’t usually back it up like you do.
Just for some odd reason, I kept on my nerves. Am I? Am I? I’m sure I am. Since I started listening to you, I’ve been positive. You know? Yeah. Thanks a lot. You’re welcome. And sometimes I just don’t understand but basically what here is what happens I believe is preachers preach their experience rather than the word of God. I remember clearly as a young believer sitting under one pastor and he said, unless you felt the weight of your sin, unless you felt the burden of your sin, unless you took that load of sin and carried it forward to the altar and laid it at the feet of Jesus, you couldn’t be saved.
I don’t know how you can lay at the feet of Jesus since he’s in heaven, but also how do you… He said, take your sins anywhere. We don’t have the capacity of unloading our sins. Only God could do that. Christ took our sin and laid it upon Himself. He died on the cross and paid for our sins. It’s not our responsibility to take our sins anywhere. God took our sin and laid upon Christ that the cross had paid for.
It was buried and came back from the dead. But apparently, they imagined things, they preached their experience and say, you have to cry, you have to have sorrow, you have to have a heart. You have to do this, you have to do that. And they’re preaching maybe the experience that they had, but that’s not going to be true for everybody. And for me tonight I got saved. It was rather a business deal. I heard the truth. I said, God, that makes good sense.
I’ll take you upon it. I trusted Christ and walked away. But little did I realize God, the Holy Spirit would get ahold of my life and bring me to my knees where I dedicated my life to serving. But the night I trusted Christ, I didn’t have any sorrow and I didn’t have any tears and I wasn’t emotionally disturbed or moved. I simply knew I heard the truth. I believed it. I was saved and later God worked on me to a point where a year later I dedicated my life to Christ.
So I can’t make that everybody’s experience nor can they make it their experience how they came to know the Lord everybody else’s experience. Everybody’s going to be different. And we as long as we trust Jesus as the only hope of going to heaven, we’re saved because salvation’s in what Christ did for us, not in what we do for Him or how we respond. When we trust Christ, we are saved. Well, I’m going to go to Ann in St. Petersburg and she has an unfair question, so I’ll get this one.
1 Corinthians 15, 35-58. What will our bodies be like? Well, there it says they will be uniquely individual. So everybody will be different, one from another. But we also, apparently, will be recognizable because our bodies will be like Christ’s body and we know when he came back from the dead they recognized him and so we’ll be recognizable. We also know that it will be flesh, but not necessarily have blood in our bodies. We know that Christ when He came back from the dead, Luke 24, said that, “‘Touch me and handle me, for a spirit that does not have flesh and bones as you see me have.
But only you would have the expression flesh and blood. But all of Christ’s blood poured out upon the ground as He died and shed that blood to pay for our sins. So he talks about his resurrection body being flesh and bones, but not flesh and blood. So we assume that we won’t need blood in our new resurrection bodies. We’ll have to wait and see. But on and on we know that Christ in his resurrection body could pass right through a locked door or through a closed wall into a room that is secured and Christ appeared in that upper room after the resurrection and he went right through a locked door or through the wall.
And so we’ll be able to do that. We’ll also be able to travel about Christ when to heaven came back several times. I believe they’re right after the resurrection and that will be not an issue either. I think we’ll travel through space. And in fact at the rapture we’re going to go up through space without a rocket or a spaceship and the only way that’s possible is to have our new bodies. And we find that at the resurrection or at the rapture when we get our resurrection bodies will be transformed on the way up and then we’ll wind up meeting Christ in the air and going on to heaven and then coming back and re-entering the earth’s atmosphere as Christ comes back and all of his power and all of his glory re-enters the earth’s atmosphere and comes back and sets up a kingdom here where he’s
King of Kings and Lord of Lords and rules over the whole earth. So Anna tells you a little bit but you will have a recognizable body and it will be in the prime of life, Christ was 33 years of age, so I believe that appearance will all be about 33 years of age. You will not appear old if you’re older or nowhere will you appear younger. If you’re younger, everybody will have a body about 33 years of age in appearance.
We have Rich in Sarasota and he leaves this off for a question. Somebody told me the Bible is not to be read literally. or please state how we should read the Bible literally. Well, obviously whoever you are listening to there is incorrect. Jesus believed in a literal Bible. In fact, in many of his presentations, he builds a whole argument on whether a noun is singular or plural or on the tenths of a verb. And I think one interesting passage that I’ll leave with you is in Matthew chapter 5 where Jesus said this about me.
He says, in verse 17 of Matthew 5, think not that I’m coming to destroy the law or the prophets. That’s a phrase that sweeps the endial testament. He says I’m not coming to destroy but to fulfill. So he talks about it being literally fulfilled. Then he says in verse 18 of Matthew 5, for verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle. Let me just stop for a moment. In the Hebrew alphabet there are 22 characters and the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet is called a jot.
And the smallest marking of a letter equivalent to the dot over the I in the English alphabet is the tittle. So what Jesus is saying here, not one letter or even the smallest marking of a letter shall in any wise pass from the Bible till all be fulfilled. So Adinida Christ tells us that every letter, in every marking of a letter, in the original manuscripts was set down exactly as God would have it be set down. Obviously he is talking about a literal Bible and how that he was going to fulfill those passages, not do away.”.
with them, but he would literally fulfill all the prophecies. And yesterday on our program we talked about in John 19 where they didn’t break a bone in his body that the prophecy back in Psalm 35 would be fulfilled. They had the soldier pierce his side with a spear and a prophecy was fulfilled that they would look upon him whom they pierced. And prophecy after prophecy was literally fulfilled. There is no reason to believe that we have to just take the Bible in a way that is not literal.
It is quite claim that all scripture is given by inspiration of God. Rich Hope that helps God in Sarasota. Thank you for that question. The phone number here, Bible, has 1-800-576-3771. Linda in Clearwater calls in with this offer question. She says what exactly does it mean? One will be taken in the other left in the field. Is this before the three and a half year tribulation? This is after the tribulation. in Matthew 24 verse 40 and 41 and we find this talking about the second coming not the rapture and the one that’s taken is taken in judgment and killed and no unbelievers will enter into the millennial kingdom but the ones that are left are left to live into that thousand-year kingdom.
So if you’re an unbeliever you’ll be taken and killed at the end of the tribulation period when Christ returns. But if you are a believer, you’ll be left to enter into the millennium. Hope that helps, Linda. If you notice the verse before that verse 39, it says, the people of that time were busy before the flood, and they were eating and drinking and so on and they knew not until the flood came and took them away. The phrase took them away.
It took the unbelievers away and they drowned. And it says, social becoming of the Son of when Christ comes back, the ones taken are taken in judgment and killed, the ones that are left to live in the millennium. We have now anonymous from Jackson, go for them. Anonymous, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, I’ll ask the question and hang up. I’m trying to give an answer to a nonbeliever. I’m not able to give the proper answer. It was asked to me over the Easter holiday.
Why did Jesus wait for the third day to resurrect? why he didn’t do it the same day or the very next day that if he was really gone why did he leave himself in the grave for three days. I wasn’t able to give anything other than he was in Haiti’s preaching to the people but if you have something different I could tell that the person that would be good and let me hang up and let him thank you sir.
All right well again even today we have people criticise and say well he just fainted and he didn’t really die. When a person is dead three days, it’s quite a miracle for them to come back from the dead. If you attended a funeral earlier this week, and then this week three or four days later, that person comes walking up your walk and knocks on your front door, you’re going to be freaking out because you know that’s a genuine resurrection.
If the body’s stolen the casket rises up and says, well, maybe they made a mistake and Sometimes that’s happened where somebody really didn’t die. They’re still alive and they awaken. But Jesus was fully dead and he proved that he was God in the flesh by bringing that body that had been dead for three days back to life. I hope that helps. But I really believe that just like with Lazarus, he was dead four days when Christ called him out of the grave.
He waited those four days because the people knew that by that time he stunked. his body was corrupting and it would be awful stench and uh… they didn’t want to roll the song away and obviously that was a great miracle he came back to dead from the dead after four full days well this is by the way we have to run the end of the program is coming up but if you Good.
