Give us a call. We’ll be glad to take your call here at Bibleline. We’ve finished teaching now 2nd Peter and that’s available now in CD and DVD. We have also finished 1st Peter and that also is 10 hours available on CD and DVD.
And we have one of the latest series is the Gospel of John, 20 hours of teaching, covering the entire book, verse by verse, I think you will enjoy taking a look at the John series. So all of those things, plus the Scofield Bible, we have that by the way now in Spanish. If you want to get, we have a beautiful one that is both languages. On the left side you’ll have English, the King James and Scofield Notes on the right side you’ll have the Spanish text and the Scofield Notes in Spanish.
We also have the Spanish… The word of God is an incredible book. Not only does it claim to be the word of God, but indeed it is the word of God from cover to cover. where we believe all of the Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction, and righteousness that the man of God might be completely furnished, through the furnace and to all good works. So if you are a believer, you need to get into your Bible and you need to see what it has to say.
There is one unpardonable sin and most people have committed that sin that is the sin of unbelief. In John 3 18 it says, He that believeth on Christ is not condemned. He that believeth not is condemned already. And then it says because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God. That is so amazing, is that the unpardonable sin is unbelief, it’s rejection of Christ. Jesus paid for every imaginable sin that you had ever committed in your lifetime.
He paid for all your passage, your presence and your future sins. They’re all paid for. And when you trust Christ as your Savior, the Bible says at the moment you trust Him, you are not condemned, nor will you be condemned anytime in the future. You’ll never come into condemnation if you are a believer. 1,318. Take a look. But if you’re not a believer, then you are condemned already. So the unbeliever is already living in a condemned state. You don’t have to wait till you die to find out you’re condemned.
The Bible says the one who does not believe on Christ is condemned already because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God. The only two groups in this world and they are our only believers and unbelievers. So the whole world splits into these two groups. I tell people there’s two kinds of Catholics. There are those who have trusted Christ as their only hope of heaven and are saved in going to heaven and there are those who have not trusted Christ as their Savior and as the only means of their salvation and they’re going to help.
There are two kinds of Methodists. Those that have simply trusted Christ as their only hope of heaven and are saved in going to heaven and there are those who are Methodists who have not trusted Christ as the only means of their salvation and are lost are going to hell. We can go down through every denomination. It’s not what denomination you belong to. It’s not what church you attend. It is whether or not you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior or not and all those that believe on Christ, that is trust on Him as Savior, they are not condemned, but the ones who are unbelievers are condemned already.
So which group are you in? Are you a believer? Have you trusted in Jesus Christ? The word believe comes from the Greek word postuo. It means to trust, to rely upon, to put your confidence in, to rest your weight upon. Once you trust Christ, according to the Bible, you possess everlasting life. Not only does itCompat say that you’re not condemned in John 3 18 which is in a Greek tense that says you’re not condemned at the moment you believe but also you’re forever thereafter not condemned.
But in John 3 16 it says, whosoever believeth or trusteth in Christ should not perish but have as a present tense verb that you would have at the moment you believe you would possess presently everlasting life from the moment you believe. Let me give you a quiz. If you have everlasting life, according to the Bible, once you trust Christ as the only means of your salvation, you possess it presently from that moment on, what kind of life would you have tomorrow?
Well, the answer would be everlasting life. Very good. If you have everlasting life today, what kind of life would you have next week? Well, it would still be everlasting life, wouldn’t If you have everlasting life today, what kind of life would you have one year from now? Well, it would still be everlasting life. If you have everlasting life today, what kind of life would you have a hundred years of now? Well, it would still be everlasting life. And if you have everlasting life right now, what kind of life would you have a million years of now?
Well, obviously, it’s forever and ever and ever and ever. And according to the Bible, it is a present possession received at the moment of belief so many people think that they have to wait until after they die to find out what are going to happen why He’s lawyers, God, and I said you’re not, but you’re an attorney. I was told you help, and you’re not Your needs. A lawyer does not notice. He’s determined whether you make out or not.
But according to the Bible, it’s not by works. It’s God’s gift that Jesus purchased it by His death at the… at the cross by his shed blood. And so at the moment you believe, you receive everlasting life, and it’s a present possession. And so I have eternal life right now. I received it when I was 18, and I trusted Jesus Christ as my only means of reaching heaven. I still possess it, and will, next week, next year, 10 years from now, 100 years from now, a million years from now, a billion years from now, I’ll still have everlasting life because it’s eternal life.
I don’t know why some people don’t really say what they’re really believing, but a lot of people believe that Christ gives temporary life. If you go to some churches, they offer a trial period. If you go to some churches, they offer probation, not salvation. You see, according to the Bible, it’s eternal life, or God chose the wrong words to describe throughout the Bible it’s called eternal life or everlasting life and it’s forever and ever and ever and ever and begins at the moment of belief when you receive everlasting life as a present possession and If you believe on Christ as your Savior the word from the Greek means to trust that Christ died and shed his blood and paid your sin that in full was buried and rose again from the dead when you trust him You receive it and then you’ll possess it from that moment on forever
213. I received eternal life at eighteen when I trusted Jesus as my Savior and I still possess it in will forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever. How about you? If you believe you can lose it, then you’re teaching that Christ only gives temporary life. If you’re teaching that you can lose it, then you’re saying that Christ gives you probation, that You are on trial. You are waiting for the results to come in. And that’s not what the Bible teaches at all.
The results are already in Jesus 2000 years ago, said it is finished. And that means paid in full satisfaction received for the sin debt. I love that old hymn. Jesus paid it all all to Him. O sin had left a crimson stain, but he washed it as white as snow. Many churches would have to change the words of that hymn and sing, Jesus paid only part. I’ll pay part myself. Oh, I’d hate to be in that boat because if you paid for part, let me just tell you what that would mean.
The Bible says in Romans 623, the wages of sin singular is death. If you paid for just one sin, just one, just one sin, you’d go to hell. The wages of sin singular is that you don’t want to pay for one sin. Jesus paid for every sin that you would ever commit in your whole lifetime and is one sin only that’s unpardonable. That’s to reject the provision that God has made for your sin in Christ, that He paid the pull and complete payment for your sin and if you reject him then there’s no hope because you’ll stand before God without a Savior, without a provision for your sin.
You’ll stand before God in your own good works which are filthy rags in God’s sight and you’ll never be admitted to heaven. Jesus said it very clearly in John 14, 6, I am the way He said, The truth and the life and no man, no man, comeeth unto the Father, but by me. How are you going to get to heaven? Unless it’s through Christ alone, and His death at the cross of Calvary, and His shed blood, and the fact that He was buried, and that He rose again from the dead, you will not make heaven.
It’s that simple. Why not take out of this word and trust Him as your Savior right now? tell the Lord in a silent prayer, Lord, I am a sinner. We all are. But I trust Jesus Christ right now as the one who died for me. And He paid for my sin debt and fooled by His death and said, Blood was buried and rose again from the dead. I trust Him to save me and forgive me right now. The moment you do that, God have been having .
. . . . . I’m Dr. Hank Lindstrom. This is Bibleline. We’re going to go to the phone lines. You’re welcome to call us at 1-800-576-3771. Give us a call. We have Lavita. And she is in Lake Worth, Florida. And Lavita, we welcome you to the Bibleline program. You’re on the air. Thank you very much, Dr. Hank. You’re welcome. Yeah, I had a question. If God foreknows everything, why does the Bible speak of God testing? Why would he test if he knows the outcome?
Well, that’s a very good question. The whole object there is for us to learn. If you went through school and were not giving any tests, then you’d have no idea where you were in your progress. And obviously you would not be challenged to go a level higher. So God puts us through tests and trials all the time. And the purpose of course is not for us to fail, but for us to pass. And so every day we go through different tests.
What are you going to do today for Christ? That is a good question for every one of us. And when we get up in the morning, we have opportunities, but many times we’re blinded to them, we’re not alert to them, we’re not watching for them. And so we failed to take advantage of the opportunities that come our way, to live for him, to serve him, to witness for him, to be a good testimony. And so these are all for our learning and not for our to fail.
When God allowed Job to be tested by Satan, it was not to the intent that Job would fail, but God knew Job’s character and had full confidence that he would pass those tests. And look at what an example he’s been to all of us ever since about patience and about endurance, about trusting God through the trials of life. And every one of us have found comfort in this man, Job, as he went through some very serious trials, and yet he never cursed God.
His faith remained strong in the one who created him, and he trusted that when he would come out of this, he would come out as gold, he would come out refined and purified it much better than he was when he entered it. So that’s the reason why we go through tests. Well, I guess I was just sort of confused because I was thinking, I sort of thought of that myself, but then I was thinking, well why didn’t they say teach instead of testing?
You know? Yes. Well, we learn through our failure sometimes, but obviously we go through trials. If everything went smooth every day, you probably would not be challenged to go forward in your Christian life. Sometimes pain in life will cause us to go to God’s Word and search it out or follow our own needs in prayer. They ask God for help. And obviously, these are all learning experiences. And if you have children, you know that they learn through their experiences.
They learn that it’s not fun to fall down, so they try to be careful not to fall down. They learn if they touch the hot stove, they’re going to get burnt, or if they play with samsper, they’re going to have that awful sting of that samsper getting stuck in their skin and so on. So we all learn, and we learn through the experiences of life, and we grow as a result, and we are able to better function and be used of God in reaching others for Him and being a testimony before others.
Okay. I really appreciate it, Dr. Hank. Thank you very much. You’re welcome. Thank you for listening over there in Lake Worth, Florida. That was Levita. We have Tyrone in Miami, Florida. Tyrone, welcome to Bibleline You’re on there. How you doing? Dr. Hank, I have a question on John 3-8. you said that it is supposed to say he didn’t believe it’s on Christ it says he to believe it on him Christ is referring to himself there and uh… if you read the context in verse sixteen for god’s law of the world he gave his only begotten son that’s the one that is the hymn in that verse he to believe it on him god’s only begotten son that’s the one who will not perish the one that will have everlasting life the one is that is not condemned and then clearly inverse uh…
eighteen at the last phrase he is condemned who does not believe because he has not believed in the name of the only the gotten son of god’s talk about Christ okay so it’s the bible that became a virgin bible that i have a woman’s name he had to leave it on Christ because i heard the other day when you were talking about some of the other bible that leave out on Christ and leave out some of the verses to be able to obtain that information Well, certainly you can and we have some cheap articles that are written that you can have for free.
But we also have a wonderful book called New Age Bible Versions that goes through about 20 of the most popular versions today and shows you what has been done, what has been deleted and how you need to be alert. So you could call and order those things. The articles will be free, but the book is I think about $20 per shipping. That’s about an 800 book that is really a valuable tool to and it’s a Bible study in itself because it covers the major doctrines of the Bible that God had the deity of Christ salvation by faith, heaven, hell and many more doctrines and shows you how they are affected by these new translations and why it’s important to have a good translation in your hand.
Okay. Okay. So the same number when you get off the air, I can call this same number back and get that information. Okay, then thank you very much. Thank you, Tyrone. I was Tyrone down in Miami, Florida. We now have Carmen in Tampa, Florida. Carmen, welcome to Bibleline you’re on there. Carmen, are you there? Oh, yes. Yes. Yes, Dr. Lindstrom. I want to ask you a question. Where in the Bible does it say there shall never be peace in Israel until the Lord comes?
Well the Bible says that Christ is the one who will bring peace. He is the Prince of Peace. And until he does return there will be no peace. He is the one who will bring peace. If you read Isaiah 9 verse 6 and 7 it says that a child is born, a son is given and it says the government shall be upon his shoulder. And that refers to the governments of this world when he brings peace. And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.
And then it says of his government and of his kingdom, there shall be no end. And obviously it is the kingdom of peace on earth, good world toward men. What the angels announced at the first coming was postponed because he was rejected. But when he comes at the second coming, he will bring peace on the whole earth. But in his hierarchy, it doesn’t say like in the Bible. Well, I’m a little confused because I mean, I read the Bible every day and I don’t see exactly where you’re saying that it’s from a share, nine, verse six and seven is a prophecy about the coming of Christ and how Christ is the one that will bring peace on the earth.
If you look over in Micah 2, which is also a prophecy of Christ and how he would come and be born in Bethlehem, and it talks about Jesus being the one that would bring peace on the earth. And it says here that this man in verse 5 of Micah chapter 5 shall be the peace. He is going to be the one that will bring peace and he is the one that is from everlasting, that would be born or taken on flesh in the city of Bethlehem.
But all the prophets talk about peace coming as a result of the Savior of the Lord Jesus Christ coming and of course this peace will come at his second coming. It also tells us in Zachariah that his first coming he would come as a suffering savior and die to pay for our sins and he would come lowly in me, Zachariah 9-9, and he would be just in having salvation lowly in writing upon and ask, the Colt of an Ass.
But then it says in verse 10 that at his second coming it says he shall speak peace under the nations and his dominion shall be from sea to sea even from the river to the ends of the earth. So clearly he’s the one that will bring peace on the earth and his second coming. Oh, I mean the phrase, you know, they shall never be peace and Israel until the Lord comes that you understand what I’m trying to say. Exactly.
And it says there, for example, in the Psalms, pray for the peace of Jerusalem. But it says that when Jesus comes, He’ll bring peace to Jerusalem. And then peace will flow, Isaiah says, like a river to the ends of the earth. And so peace will begin at Jerusalem when Christ comes back to ruling reign over the city of Jerusalem. In Zechariah chapter 2 it talks about how that Christ when he comes back will actually bring peace first to Jerusalem which is where he comes back to and then it will flow out to the ends of the earth.
That the whole earth will one day be at peace as a result of the Lord Jesus Christ returning. Read Zachariah chapter 2, it’s a whole chapter about this and it tells us here that he will bring peace to the whole earth when he comes back. That’s when I did kind of look into this and thank you so much, that’s a little bit of the challenge. You’re welcome, Carmen. You are so glad. God bless you, Carmen, thank you. And we have, let’s see here, we have Debbie in Land of Lakes and Debbie, we just have a few seconds, so you have a question.
Debbie? Yes, uh-huh. What is your question? Oh, just Dr. Hank. Yeah. Oh, hi, Dr. Hank. My question is about prayer. Will God not answer your prayers if you are not abiding in him, if you are living in sin? That’s a good question. And I’m going to hold you over because we’re right up on our break time here. This is Bible and Dr. Inchins, and we’ll be back after this short break. Again, if you’re able to pray for Bibleline and perhaps help us out with a gift to keep Bibleline going in your area.
We’ve got to take a break. We’ll be right back into a second half hour. So don’t go away. I’ll be right back and we’ll talk to them the further. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well I’m Dr. England. That’s great to be with you and thank you for tuning in today, which is Thursday and we hope that you are enjoying. Your gift is an indispensable part of keeping Bible and on the air. We could not be on the air without the help of our listeners. You can call in and give a gift by credit card over the phone or you can also call and ask for an envelope to be sent and mail your gift into Bible and we hope that you will pray about that and do that because we certainly could use your help.
This is a critical time because of the days in which we’re living. People need to hear the gospel and we want to be out there giving it and sharing it and we can use your help in accomplishing that and your gifts will keep us on the air and I’m sure that you’ll be heard in the area where you’re listening to this program. Thank you for tuning in today. And we’re going to, of course, go back to our stations that have been on break and do a second half hour.
Don’t forget you can call it an S for a resource sheet, but you can also shop correctly on our online bookstore, on our website BibleLineMinistries.org. We’re about ready to do that second half hour. And we hope that you’ll stay with us for this next half hour.
Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re back from that break and this is Bible and I’m Dr. Angstrom. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church in Tampa, where I’m the pastor and you’re always welcome to come by and say hi. This is our Resource Center during the week.
It opened about 4.30 every day, Eastern Standard Time. You can come out on Wednesday on a Sunday to worship with us. You’d be welcome. And we hope you will. People come in from out of states, out of Florida and into Florida. And come by and visit. We’d love to meet you. We’ve had people here in the past few weeks from all over the country, from California and everywhere in between. Also, we’ve had visitors from Ghana, Africa, and other places outside the country.
We’re excited about how God is blessing and using people to spread the word about the Bible and program to others. We are on the Internet 24-7. That’s a wonderful place to catch Bible and many are finding it in other countries and getting emails from Kampala, Uganda from Kenya from Ghana from India from all over Europe and many other countries and some of them Arab Muslim states. We’re excited about what God is doing and hope that you will pray for Bible.
I know we can continue to reach out. Our website has so far had 156 countries log in and we’re excited about how we have a quiz at the beginning of our website where an average of 30 to 50 a day picked that quiz and then come back around and pass it and apparently are understanding the Gospel and maybe that many are getting saved just through the quiz on our website. thousands watched that seven-minute video rather than beginning that tells you how to be saved by the way a little To the right of that you can notice there’s a place where you can link that to your website and For free.
We would love to have you use that and there’s a lot of churches and a lot of individuals That have taken that seven-minute video of the gospel and have connected it to their website Which will help you do if you’d like to have a gospel presentation link on your website. We can fix that up for you and it gives instructions right there if you click to the right of the seven minute video when you go to our website Bibleline Ministries.org.
So in any case we’re excited about how God is using Bibleline and we are listeners supported. We have no other means of support. So your gifts and your prayers are obviously an indispensable part part of Bible I being on the air. Would you help us? We really could use your help at this time. It seems like in our country there’s been a decline in giving because of the economy, because of the high price of gas at the pump and because the prices of everything else are rising accordingly.
It seems like some things are being cut back in people’s budgets and one of those I think is Christian ministry and Bible I just don’t accept it. If you You can help us. A generous gift right now would help Bible and a lot. We don’t pay any salary, so we are really lean as far as how the money is spent so that it goes right back into getting us out on the airwaves, getting us out there across the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
If you’re being blessed by this program and you’d like to be a part, we would welcome your prayers and your gifts. You could call right today or right now and talk to our operators and you could offer to give a gift by credit card or you could ask for an envelope or an envelope to be sent with our address on a mail you’re gifted, but we could definitely use your help here at Bible line to get the gospel out and we would thank you in advance.
God bless you and thank you all of you. Debbie called in just before the break and she was asking about God answering prayer. Of course, God hears the prayers of everyone, saved or lost, no matter what’s going on. You find examples of that in the Bible. But if you are a… He said, I want him to get God to say yes to a specific need in your life. Then it’s obviously related oftentimes to whether you’re living for the Lord or not, or whether you’re praying for your own lust to be satisfied, or whether you’re praying to get God’s purpose accomplished in your life.
So the real key for ancient prayer. But God does hear a prayer, and God doesn’t always answer whether yes. But you can definitely pray and know that God is going to answer you that prayer. Even the prayer of an unsafe person will be answered. And sometimes what God will do in the case of an unsafe person is bring you through circumstances that will bring you to find them so that you can become saved. And we have examples of that in the Bible where people are lost and they’re praying and God brings about circumstances in their life where they hear the gospel and they become saved.
If you’re a believer, then you certainly ought to pray within God’s will. And obviously, the children of Israel were disobedient in the wilderness. And they prayed not a correct prayer, even they prayed for their lusts to be satisfied. And that is that they were not happy with the manna that God had provided, and they prayed for flesh to eat. They just lusted after flesh. They wanted to eat some meat. So the Bible tells us that God answered their prayer.
Now if you’ve read that story, it’s almost humorous because God had these quail blown in by a strong wind and it turns out that the children of Israel were buried in quail. They were three foot deep in quail. They couldn’t lay down. They couldn’t go to sleep. They couldn’t walk. You couldn’t go anywhere. I mean, can you imagine being three foot deep in birds? standing up and you what are you going to do you can’t lay down you can’t walk you can’t go anywhere and the Bible says that they got sick and tired of these birds and loathed meat but God gave them a request.
Interesting verse back here in the Old Testament it says in verse 14 of Psalm 106 Debbie it says here that they soon forgot his works and they didn’t wait for God’s counsel but They lusted exceedingly into wilderness and tempted God in the desert and he gave them their request but sent leanness unto their soul. Wow! So sometimes you get what you prayed for and you need to be careful when you do that. It’s best to pray and say, Lord, I want your will to be done in my life, not mine.
Your will not mine. And because God knows better what we really need. But definitely don’t give up in prayer. As you seek in prayer, God understands that he will answer your prayer. Maybe not the way you thought it should be answered. But definitely he will hear and he will answer your prayer. Work encouraged all the way through. I love Jeremiah 30 verse 3. Call into me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, which I’ll know it’s not.
One of my favorite verses, Jeremiah 30 verse 3. that one down Debbie and look it up call it to me and I will answer so he will answer prayer and you need to call upon him. All right we’re now going to go to Lewis in Richmond Virginia and Lewis welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, yes. Turn your right hand down. Okay, good. Okay. Okay. Go. Yeah, you’re on the air. I got one question and divorce and remarred.
They’ve never been married. They’ve still been with their first at divorce. I don’t think I’m starting to hear your answer. Okay. Obviously, I think you sin if you remarry uh… uh… not according to scripture you know the bible tells us that first of all believers only to marry another believer if you’ve been divorced and it is because of the infativeness of the other partner then you have a legitimate right to re-marry and uh… but if you don’t then obviously then you send but i don’t think it’s a continuous in every day that you’re with that person but uh…
unfortunately today We have marriages failing at an alarming rate. The rate of failure is greater than 50% nowadays. When a person gets married is a good chance that marriage is gonna fail because over 50% of the marriages are failing in this country and second marriages fail at a rate of 75% and third time marriages fail at a rate of 95%. Wow. So they, not a lot of hope if you’ve been bouncing around, you’re really going to probably have more failure.
And that’s because a lot of issues are not being dealt with, it should be dealt with. According to the Bible, you as a believer need to find another believer, but not only that. I believe you need to find somebody who’s dedicated to the Lord because obviously two people who are in harmony and are dedicated to the same purpose are going to be able to focus on those things that God would want them to do and be able to resolve their differences to accomplish that.
And that’s very, very important. But the Bible does definitely teach that there is divorce and remarriage. If you read Deuteronomy chapter 23 and 24, it talks about divorce and remarriage. And one of the best books I’ve seen that covers and treats the subject is by Chexford Nol. We have it here in our resource center. You can order it. It’s called Strike the Original Match. And it has the fairest treatment about divorce and remarriage that I’ve ever seen and covers different scenarios.
And Chuck is very good about saying don’t read this book to find a way out of a relationship that you don’t want to be in. But the idea is to restore a relationship that you already have. If you become a victim, and obviously there are two people involved in a divorce and somebody is going to be sometimes a victim, an innocent victim sometimes, and I will talk about how that there can be remarried. But Chexman does a good job of showing those different snares and supporting it with scripture.
I hope that helps and we thank you very much for your call. We’re now going to Adam and Tampa. Adam, welcome to Bibleline You’re On The Air. Yeah, could you explain? explain in in X chapter 19 versus six through eight X chapter 19 Excuse me here X 19 six through eight okay in In verse 6 it says, when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they spaked with tongues and prophesied. And is that the verse?
Yeah. But this, here we have some disciples here, John the Baptist, and they were not saved. And we find here that Paul, being in an apostle, asked the right questions and discerns that rather quickly. He says in verse 2, Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believe? Now that is not translated correctly in your King James Bible. If you have a Scofield, it points out clearly how this should read, Have you received the the Holy Spirit when you believe.
And it’s at the moment of belief that you receive the Holy Spirit and because they hadn’t even heard so much about the Holy Spirit and obviously had not received the Holy Spirit they were not saved. In Romans 8 verse 9 it says, If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. So here are a group of people that are unsaved. Then he says under what were you baptized? He explains here one of the greatest passages that explains the baptism of God to Baptist that it was a baptism that they would believe on Christ when he would appear as John was the one who would prepare the way and introduce that Messiah.
Well, when they heard this verse 5, they obviously, I think, got saved and I think that’s what’s taking place here, that they were baptized not with water here, but I think baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, which is in the authority of Christ’s name. There were cleansse of verse 7, they got saved right there upon hearing and understanding the gospel. And at the same time simultaneously, I think the when verse 5 is the same moment in time as the when in verse 6.
And when Paul laid his hands on them, which was at the same point, the Holy Spirit came on them when they obviously believed. So here they were lost he discerns that they’re lost ask the right question and knows that because they don’t have the Holy Spirit they’re not saved and Then explains what John the Baptist had taught to be began where they were and let them to the truth of the gospel They heard it. It says in verse 5 and when they heard it they were cleansed by the Authority of the Lord Jesus Christ The word baptizer means to wash or to cleanse their skin up this is not about water baptism and then verse six at the same point in time the win-win wins if you time all together uh…
he had his hands on them as he was explaining and praying and the holy spirit came on them and then he spake the tongues of prophesied so that wasn’t necessary for him to play his hands on him for that i don’t think i don’t think so i think you know uh… and in the middle east uh… people are more uh… and tendency to embrace and and i believe that the gathered them around probably had his hands on maybe the outer two of the i can imagine like a circle He’s explaining it, they understand it, they believe it, and while his hands were on him, the Holy Spirit comes.
They had nothing to do with his laying on the hands. They didn’t get the Holy Spirit because he laid hands on him. They got the Holy Spirit because they believed. Okay, can I have some more questions? Sure. It’s in verse 8 right there and it says that he spoke boldly and he reasoned with him. Can you explain? The Kingdom of God is an all-encompassing term referring to everything that is under God’s sovereignty. The Kingdom of Heaven is a limited phrase, referring to the Millennium, and the time when the heavens rule over the earth when Christ will be king on the earth here during that thousand-year period that’s coming up that the Bible talks about.
So he’s basically talking about all the things that are, and obviously I’m sure he couldn’t cover it here in one little lecture, but he’s covering the, I think, some of the main things about God’s Kingdom. You know, God is the one who is the creator and everything in his universe is under his sovereignty and that he’s the one who provided redemption for those that are lost and tells us the believers know what our purpose is and what we should do as a believer now that we are saved and I think he was probably instructing them in a lot of these things.
So, right now, right? Well, Christ does live in our heart, whether he rules there or not, is dependent upon our yieldedness to him. So hopefully you as a believer are yielded to obey the Lord as a Christian. That’s where you are an effective Christian, a fruitful Christian, a blessed Christian, one that is being used of God. But you as a believer can say no to the Lord and quench the Holy Spirit’s promptings to get you to live for him every day and suffer the loss of reward and be ashamed one day as you stand before the judgment of Christ where your works and deeds will be examined for a degree of reward in heaven.
So it’s not necessary? It’s not a statement. No it isn’t because the kingdom can’t be expanded anymore than what it already includes. It includes everything in the universe. Okay. Thank you very much. Thank you and that was Adam in Tampa, Florida. We now are going to Linda in Dunedin and Linda, welcome to Bibleline You’re On The Earth. Hi, Dr. Hank, it’s Linda. Good morning. How are you? Good. I have a question. I have three different points, but John 1028, about plucking out of my hand.
If one committed his life and then after years not walking with the Lord, is that he never had salvation because he has now become the God of his own universe and has… First of all, committed his life is a bad term. That is not bringing about salvation. That’s a work-sylvation-based term. You have to trust in the finished work of Jesus in order to become saved. And yet a lot of Christians use that term, so and so committed their life to Christ.
And committing your life to Christ is a promise to live your life in a certain way in order that you might be saved. And that’s how much of my work should know you wouldn’t be safe in the get-go if you’re trusting in committing your life to Christ to be saved. And so many are in that boat. And they are making a promise that Lord I am going to live my life in such and such a way and do such and such a thing and be faithful until I die.
And if you’re doing that to be saved then that’s works and you won’t be saved at all. So you’re not even a Christian. Okay so if it was just a head knowledge then when you truly thought you were making a commitment but the fruit of your spirit was not the fruit. Well the thing is you don’t make a commitment. Salvation is receiving what Christ has already done so you trust in the finished work of Christ and you become saved There is no commitment now as a believer now choosing to be a disciple That’s when you commit your life and you say Lord now that I am saved and I want to live for you And please you and earn rewards and your blessings here in this world and for eternity I am now committing my life into your hands to direct my life and use me and
I’ll be a faithful servant. That brings about reward but to do that to be saved is obviously a false gospel message as a message of works and many people get these things all mixed up and and if you’re not He was verified on it. You could wind up in hell because you’re trying to earn your way to heaven rather than ever understanding the simple gospel, which is the foundation that Jesus paid it all. And you must trust in His finished work and His trusting Christ that brings about salvation not committing your life.
Okay, so if that was never done, the person deluded himself and deceived himself and others. And to be head of the household, and he did not provide in the spiritual authority that God has placed on him, it is worse than an infidel. And then how does John 1028 come into effect? Well if you ever do trust the Lord as your Savior and you trust Him and receive that wonderful gift of eternal life. He says three things in John 1028.
I give them eternal life. So it’s eternal. So they’re safe forever once they trust Christ. If they have done that, that they’ve trusted Christ and tried Christ alone that his death and shed blood was sufficient to save them for all eternity, that every sin that they would ever commit past, present, and future was paid for at the cross. And by receiving that they’re saved. He says, I give them eternal life, it’s a gift, and it’s eternal life that he gives.
And secondly, he says, you’ll never go to hell. He says, they shall never perish. To perish means to pay for your sin by death, which ultimately is the second death, to be cast into the eternal like a fire. And it says here, they’ll never perish. In other words, you’ll never go to hell once you get saved. Thirdly, you can’t become lost because no one is able to pluck you out of Christ’s hands. So he’s holding you. A lot of people get it backwards and they say, I’m holding on to Jesus, I’m holding on to Christ, I’m holding on to faith, I’m holding on to whatever.
And we don’t get saved by holding on to anything. We get saved by trusting Christ and then He holds us. And nothing no one can ever pluck us out of the hand of Christ because they’d have to be more powerful than God. And Jesus, of course, is God. So no one can be gone lost once it becomes safe because Christ is holding us and keeping us safe. Okay then with all due respect would you please pray for my husband that the Lord will bring him to the end of himself and that he would cry out in repentance and come back?
Well we can certainly do that Linda, we’ll be praying for you and your husband and I pray that he knows the Lord and if not that he would come to know him and that he would then choose to live for him and be the kind of person that he ought to be. I have another question. Okay, go. Can you please tell me more about this Todd Bentley at the Lakeland Revival? Well, you can Google him. He is apparently a convicted child, Melissa, a seven-year-old boy up in Canada, spent 18 years in jail.
His favorite music is all Satanic music. I believe that the signs and wonders are part of the in-time deception of Satan and this is something to stay away from. I think it’s demonic. He obviously is in violation of the scriptures. You’re not to print marks on your body or have cuttings. He has both tons of tattoos. From what I’ve seen on the internet in YouTube pictures of him in 2004, he had tattoos but since and he’s added tons more and Leviticus 19-28 says you’re not to put any markings on your body or any cuttings and apparently so he’s getting worse in that area and obviously doesn’t shield them behind them but he has his arms exposed so that everybody can see all his markings.
I think really this is a man that is a dangerous deceiver and people are being fooled today in the area of that. This is what the implication is that he’s tickling the ears of such a desperate, destitute people that they’re willing to listen and hear anything. Well, I think that’s part of the times in which we’re living in, and the Bible said in Matthew 24, 24, in the last days, it would be false preachers that would do signs and wonders, and they would deceive even genuine believers.
and Jesus said in verse 25 of Matthew 24, I’ve told you before it happens. So he’s given us 2,000 years of dance warning and yet a lot of people are not paying attention to the scriptures of being warned that the sign gifts and the wonder gifts would be given or done or performed by false teachers in the last days and I think that’s exactly what we’re seeing. Thank you so very much, Linda, and we are out of time and we have many other callers here.
