Great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning in to the broadcast. We look forward to being with you each and every day, Monday through Friday as we come to you live from our studios right here in Tampa, Florida at the Calvary Community Church and we welcome you to the Bibleline program. By the way, you’re welcome to come by and visit us if you’re ever in the area. If you come in from out of state, we’re right next to the Tampa International Airport.
In fact, we’re just the block west of the airport. If you get more than a block away from the Tampa International Airport, then you’re probably not going to find this. So, how the airport will ride on the west side. We’d love to have you coming by. Our Resource Center has opened every day till about 4.30 in afternoon. Also, you can catch that Resource Center online by going to our website, BibleLineMinistries.org. BibleLineMinistries.org. And there you can get our radio programs.
You can get our television programs, you can get our worship services, all of us right there available for you right on the internet. BibleLineMinistries.org Check that out. By the way, we’ve got some wonderful books in our resource center. You might want to get a Scofield Bible. That Bible has the greatest notes. You know, most Bibles have biographical, geographical, historical type notes. Great for Bibleline or rather for Bible trivia games. But if you really want to know the real answers to doctrine, what about heaven, what about hell, what about angels, what about demons, what about Christ, what about the Godhead, what about inspiration, what about redemption, what about salvation, what about predestination, those are answered in the notes in the scofial Bible.
It’s invaluable. I don’t know Bible like it. It came out first in 1909 and then there was a 1917 edition. Those are the ones we recommend. The newer ones have changed the notes, added new notes that are not by Dr. Schofield. You don’t want to get one of those. That’s what your Christian bookstore will sell you. It’s very, very rare that anybody’s carrying the old Schofield and we work at doing that so we can give you the best. That’s the old Schofield Bible preferred over the new.
We also have that strong concordance which allows you to look up and research every word in the Bible. The every dowry every and every but every shelf is in there and by a simple number code system you can make reference to the original word what it meant and how it’s translated throughout the Bible It is incredible and it’s not that much money. I think it’s about thirty five Dollars and you can have one of those and then we’ll ship it out to you by the way also We have a lot of my teachings.
I’ve just finished first and second Peter 10 hours on each of those wonderful books and they’re available if you want to get them and we also have 20 hours of teaching on the Gospel of John available you might want to get those sets and they’re great for driving in your car for sitting at home for personal study also to facilitate a Bible study a home Bible study a study school class a lot of people are using them in that way you might want to get some of those series and we have about 40 different ones if there’s a particular book that But you’re interested in your study.
A lot of people get hung up in the book of Hebrews. We have a wonderful series, 10 hours of teaching on Hebrews. A lot of people don’t realize that parables are written to conceal truth, not reveal truth. I have a whole 10 hours on parables, how to interpret them. And we go through some of the most difficult ones so you get the idea and you can really learn how to glean the truths out of parables. But otherwise, most commonteries get them wrong.
Why? They come with the wrong idea. Jesus said, I spoke in parables that seeing they would not see and hearing they would not hear and that they would not understand, lest at any time they should be converted and their sins should be forgiven them. The Bible is very clear. He didn’t give parables to reveal truth but to conceal truth. So you might want to get that series on parables and we’ve got some wonderful books It’ll help you evangelize to learn your Bible and so on.
We’ve got several Bible dictionaries. I love them all. But one is my favorite. That’s the Unger. It’s high quality paper, lots of pictures, and Merle Unger was a great author, and that’s my favorite of all those. But we got four or five Bible Dixters. They’re all somewhat equal as far as content. But I like the Ungers. I think it stands out above the others. We’ve got great commentaries. We’ve got the Jay Verde and McGee commentary, five volumes. It sells in the store for $200.
We have it for a gift of a hundred to Bibleline. We hope that you’ll Put that on your library shelf. Also my favorite commentary, the Jameson Faucet Brown 3 Volume commentary. It retails for about 150. We have it for a gift of 100. You can call in order these things over the phone, and we’ll ship them right out to you. We have this Sunday, if you’re coming by, and you want to visit on a worship day, we’re having a dinner.
It’s our third Sunday. A lot of people come from a distance. We’ve had people coming from Daytona Beach, from Fort Lauderdale, Miami area, and way down south here on the west coast of Florida and others that are in Florida for vacation coming by and especially they try to make it on our third Sunday because you can come at 1030 join the service stay for the dinner be my guest just bring your family you’re apt to tight your Bible and join us for a great day and we hope that you’ll take advantage of this Sunday which will be our third Sunday dinner.
By the way, we have camp coming up for teens. We still have a couple openings left for teenagers. If you want to send them to our camp in the middle of the state, they’re going to get some great Bible teaching. And if they’re not saved, good chance they’re going to get saved. And if they’re saved, good chance that they might dedicate their life to serve the Lord and live for Him. And I believe that that’s what we need in these days, is teenagers that are headed in the direction -’cause we’ll give you the information about camp, about all the different things that are going on, and you’re welcome to call us.
And also, of course, most of everything is answered on our website, BibleLineMinistries.org. Well, we were talking yesterday and on Friday about water baptism and how that we are not required to be water baptized to be saved. required to be water baptized to be saved. But as a believer, there are two ordinances, water baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and as believers we ought to observe both. Water baptism once, as a symbol, a picture, a ceremony that talks about how we were cleansed of our sin by the blood of Christ, and then the Lord’s Supper, which has to do with our daily walk, And that ought to be done often.
And the Bible says, as often as you do this, or as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you do show over claim or preach or teach the Lord’s death until He comes. So in the interim between the two comings of Christ, between His first coming in the rapture to take us out, we’re to observe the Lord suffer. I’m going to turn to Acts 2.38 because we got several callers saying, what about Acts Well, what about Acts 2, 38?
Acts 2, 38 is when Peter was preaching at Pentecost, and here he had a hostile audience, one that had just crucified Christ. It’s the leadership of Israel. He says in verse 22, You men of Israel, hear these words, Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved are authenticated to God among you by signs or miracles and wonders and signs, which, as you yourselves know, him being delivered by the Determinate Council of Four Knowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked ends of crucified and slain him, whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that he should be holding on it.
Christ crucified because they thought he was an imposter, a fraud, a counterfeit. He comes back from the dead and Peter says, you need to think about what you’ve done here and realize that you made a big mistake. And here’s the conclusion of his message in Acts 2.36. He says, therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus. Which one? He tells us here, the one whom you have crucified both Lord that means he is God, he is Deity, and he is Christ, he is the Messiah.
So you all made a big mistake. The Messiah came and you crucified him. God and flesh came. The Lord Jesus Christ, who is the God man. You have taken him by wicked hands have crucified him. And they were convicted in their hearts in verse 37, and they said to Peter and the apostles, been in brethren, what should we do? And Peter says repent. Well, the word repent means to change your mind. The Greek word is meta-noia. Write it down.
Meta-M-E-T-A means change. Noia means mind. The two words together, meta-noia, mean a change of mind. That’s all it’s talking about here. It’s talking about they needed to change their mind and realize they had made a serious mistake in rejecting them as I am. They needed a trusting Messiah. By the way, repent does not mean turn from sin or sorrow for sin. That problem is not a sin. came about because the English word repent does not mean the same thing as the Greek word metanoia.
It was a bad translation of the Greek to English. What they should have done is what we call a transliteration. The word in the Greek for baptize or is baptizo and they didn’t have an equivalent word in the English language. So what they did is they took the O on the The word baptizo dropped it and replaced it with an E, made it an English word and brought it into the English language. So the word baptize is really a Greek word that has been brought into the English language.
There was no equivalent word to translate it into. Wouldn’t that be something if they had done that with metanoia? Preachers everywhere would be saying, instead of repent, they would be saying, Metanoia! Metanoia! Metanoia! Well, some of those strange today, but at least people go look up the correct word and find out what it means. It does not mean turn from sin. It does not mean sorrow for sin. It means to change your mind. And here Peter was preaching to a crowd that needed to change their mind, and then he says, be baptized.
Now, the problem here is that most people, when they see the word baptized, their minds lock up and you know they think water water water water water water water and you know it’s uh… interesting but there are ten different baptisms and uh… and uh… there are ten different baptisms and most of them are dry and uh… they don’t involve any liquid whatsoever and there’s a baptism of the Holy Spirit there’s a baptism of fire there’s a baptism of death none of us and we can list them off and I have a CD that you You can order the cover all 10 of those baptisms and some articles that you can look up on my website and download the cover of the book.
Why not take a look at the context and ask yourself what baptism is being taught here? Well here it says, be baptized every one of you and does it say in water? No. Look at Acts 2.38. It says, be baptized every one of you in the name, in the name, in the name, in the name. Well, you see the word baptize, which is from the Greek word baptizo, really means to wash or cleanse. It is translated that way in other places.
So how are you washed or cleanse? It says here in the name. In other words, this is a cleansing that occurs when you trust Jesus as your Savior and in authority of Jesus Christ, who is God, who came and died in the form of a man for your sins, he authorizes your sins to be forgiven upon your trusting Him as Savior. So he says, be baptized every one of you in the name of the Lord Jesus. This is not water.
It’s not water. There is no water in verse 38. Just like a call the other day was asking about John There’s no water. It talked about a birth of water with Nicodemus and then a birth of the Spirit. But there’s a tremendous difference between being born and being baptized. A tremendous difference. You don’t want to obviously take your wife to the church if she’s going to deliver a child, you take her to the hospital. You don’t know the difference between a birth of the baptism.
You’ve got serious problems. Well, let me just have you hold your place just a minute here, but if you turn to 1 Corinthians 6, unless you think I’ve lost my mind, it talks here about those that were lost at Corinth, and here the apostle Paul says to them, and such were some of you. This is 1 Corinthians 6, 11. Such were some of you, but you are washed. That’s baptized. You are washed, and then it says how? In the name of the Lord Jesus, by the Spirit of our God.
That really means not somebody being water baptized and they say, I baptized you in the name of Jesus. It’s really talking about somebody being washed of their sin in the authority that Christ gave. Somebody wants to go to heaven is like this that God has given a check. It’s drawn on the bank of heaven in the amount of eternal life made out to whosoever believeth. In other words, you could catch that check if you would put your name in that pay to line.
It’s to pay to whosoever believeth. It’s a check for eternal life. It’s drawn on the bank of heaven and it’s signed by Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ, His authority grants that check power. When you put your name in there in your believer, you can cash it in and receive everlasting life. That’s what Peter is saying. You change your mind, repent, and be cleansed or washed every one of you in the name or in the authority of Jesus Christ.
Two things will happen. You’ll receive the remission of your sins and you’ll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Some people really get hung up on this verse and they say you can’t receive the Holy Spirit and you can’t receive the remission of your sins until your water baptized. You know what I tell them, if I could show you a verse where people received the Holy Spirit before they were water baptized, would you change your mind? Oh yeah, right now on the spot.
And, you know, I take him to Acts 10. Here you have Peter preaching same thing. He tells them if they would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, they would receive the mission of their sin and they would receive the Holy Spirit. In verse 44, they receive the Holy Spirit while Peter is preaching, they believed. Then we find here that Peter says in verse 47, This is Acts 10. This is really good. Acts 10, 47, it says, can any man Peter says, forbid water that these should not be baptized with water which have received the Holy Spirit as well as we notice they already had the Holy Spirit.
Now, if you believe Acts 2,38 is talking about water, then you would not be able to receive the Holy Spirit nor the forgiveness of your sin until your water baptized. But this proves that that interpretation is wrong because here in Acts 10 these people believed and received the remission of their sins and they received the Holy Spirit and they were not yet water baptized. And so it says here, can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized which have received, have received, have received the Holy Spirit as well as we.
They got the same Holy Spirit we got, Peter said. Can we forbid them enough to permit water baptized? Answer is no. Well, I hope that helps a little bit on explaining X238. And you can listen to this program again and again on the Internet. You can also order some of my CDs on baptism and other topics. I think that will be helpful. We’re going to go to the phone lines and we want to welcome Tom in Richmond, Virginia. And Tom, welcome to my blind.
You’re on the air. Good morning, Pastor. Mr. Howery. Good. Hey, I’ve got a question for you. I’m hoping that you can help me clear up with some scriptural evidence. In a Bible study that I’m having, one of my friends and I have a sharp disagreement over, I made a statement that people in the Old Testament were saved born again. And he had a sharp disagreement. He said nobody was saved until they had Pentecost. And so I do disagree with it.
I’m looking for the scriptural evidence that I can present to this, and that people in the Old Testament were born again. I guess just like Nicodemus was told in John 3 through the water and the spirit the same way as it’s blevered out. I hope I’m right on this. Oh you are. Absolutely right. And their numerous verses, you know Saul got saved and they noticed the difference. In fact the Holy Spirit came into him and he prophesied and they said, is Saul not to be counted among the prophets.
Very definitely Saul, as I think for Samuel chapter 15, you might read that story. But quite a remarkable story about the change of heart that occur, which is, I think, talking about the new birth. It’s the change of mind that occurs when a person becomes saved. It’s the same as in the New Testament. You’ll find that in Isaiah 45 God offers salvation and asked and actually uses that word there, saved to everybody on the planet. It says, for example, in, let’s see what verse this is, it’s Isaiah chapter 45 verse 22.
It says, look unto me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God and there is none else. So he’s I think I think the angle he’s coming from at Hank is that basically since the Holy Spirit was not given until Pentecost that nobody was truly born again. I don’t know what teaching he’s coming from. I’m very, very confused as to where. Right. Well, the whole point is that the Holy Spirit did not permanently involve people until Pentecost, but the Holy Spirit was present and the Holy Spirit brought about the new birth and obviously they were born again in the Old Testament.
The thing that’s unique to this age is the permanent individual. dwelling of the Holy Spirit and the fact that the Holy Spirit places us into Christ’s body. The baptism of the Holy Spirit never occurred in the Old Testament, but salvation was certainly there. The Bible talks about how that he would write his laws in our hearts and in our minds, and that all has to do with the new birth. We’re not following the written law that was given among Sinai to be saying, but he brings about a new birth where we desire from the inside because we’ve been born again to serve him and live for him not because we’re under the Old Testament law.
So it’s once you have that change of mind, that repentance, whether Old Testament or new, he creates in you a new heart, even though you don’t have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, he still creates in you a new spirit. I get the spirit of God that’s rebuilding you. And then Peter makes it so clear, my favorite verse is Acts 1043 where Peter says to Yeshua or Jesus give all the prophets witness. That’s every one of the Old Testament writers that through his name, who so ever believe within him, that’s Jesus, should receive the remission of their sins.
And that means from Adam on, everybody that believed on Jesus became saved. And that was the new birth and Acts 1043, I think is the best verse around. Have you ever heard somebody use that you might think of making that save until Pentecost? Now that’s really strange obviously and Hebrews 11 is the God’s Hall of Fame. Look at all those people that are saved. What is he trying to say? They were kind of like on hold and then got saved because I mean there you have all everybody from Abel on down throughout the Old and Charles Testament.
You’ve got this listing of Hebrews by faith, by faith, by faith, by faith, by faith, by faith, and you’ve got them all listed there. It’s quite clear that these were all say people. All right. I’m going to check those scriptures out and see if I can come up with a found argument here for the guy. Well, good. Go for it, Tom. We now have Jay in Fort Lauderdale. Jay, welcome to my one year on the year. Yes, how are you doing?
Good. I’ve got a question. Who was the first Jewtoc and how did it become the first Jew? Well good question. Actually to use the technical term Abraham Baguette Isaac, Isaac Baguette Jacob, Jacob had his name changed the night he got saved and he became Israel which means child of God. He had twelve sons, one of his twelve sons was Judah and officially he was the first Jew. what happened in the Babylonian captivity is they didn’t say Judea but they got sloppy or lazy and they called everybody a Jew rather say Judah so Judah was the first Jew technically and that’s back in Genesis well well I’m not okay I understand that but how did he become the first Jew is he had he had 11 brothers 11 brothers Well the whole point is during, is there was Judah, but when the Jews were in the
Babylonian captivity because Judah was the largest tribe, they referred to everybody from all the tribes as like the tribe of Judah. The Gentiles, the Babylonians didn’t know any difference and they just said, you’re all Jews. They didn’t say Judah, they just said Jews. So, it got hung on the whole nation. So, anybody today from any of the tribes has called a Jew. But technically, it comes from Judah. He’s the first one with the name. So, it’s both. No, it’s both.
It’s both. Yeah, and I don’t have time right now. I’ll try to cover that a little bit more after the break. I’m Dr. Ankerine Klimstin. This is probably the one I want to welcome again Miami to the broadcast. Next Monday, we’ll begin the full hour. God bless you folks for praying for us that our door would open but now we need your financial help to be able to pay for that. I decided we’d go ahead and we don’t have the money.
We’re trusting that God will supply so that we could pay for that second half hour. So pray for that. And also allEngineers that are in other areas we certainly can use your help as we go through the summer months. And these are more lean using Christian giving and certainly with our economic crisis we need your help. Give us a call and you can give a gift by credit card over the phone and you can also ask for an envelope to be sent and mail I gift into By-blind so would you?
Consider doing that and God bless you all. Thank you in advance right now. Thank you for praying for and giving to the Bibleline ministry. We want to welcome also every evidenceville, Indiana. We’re on the air there with you today, I believe. And we thank God for that opportunity to be able to bring the broadcast to you in Indiana. We’re now going to go to Linda in Spring Hill and Linda. Welcome to my line. You’re on the air. Linda, are you there?
I don’t hear Linda, so let’s try again. Linda? Good morning, Dr. Hank. I wanted to see if I’m understanding this correct, this previous caller associate that’s in the Bible study with them. And he doesn’t think that Old Testament people were saved if they’re looking forward to their Messiah. Because it wasn’t Abraham called out and by faith he received By faith he was saved and he was what he didn’t get the seed Jesus and of course and and Abraham in Genesis 15 six says Abraham believed the Lord concerning the promise of Christ and the Lord counted it to him for righteousness and that verse is quoted in three books in the New Testament about have Abraham’s salvation by faith and faith alone in the book of Romans, in the book of Galatians, and in the book of James.
And all three talk about his salvation experience. And that’s a great point. And I have got to go to break. If you’re listening, stay tuned for another half hour of Bibleline as we’re going to take a short break and we’ll come right back. And thank you, Linda, and thank you, Jay, and thank you, Tom. We are appreciative of all of you that called in. And we’re now going to go to break and we’ll come right back and do a second half hour.
of Bible and don’t go away Bibleline will be back in a moment give us a call at 1-800-576-3771 that’s 1-800-576-3771. Well I’m Dr. Englund for minutes wonderful to be able to be with you and we are so glad that you’re tuned in today and we should be here at Lord Willy all week long and that’s right on through Friday and if you’re in the Tampa Bay area, you can hear us seven days a week as we’re on all these different stations.
You know, it’s exciting the fact that we can communicate like this. You can be somewhere listening to your radio and hearing Bible and I can be here at our headquarters and just be able to talk to you about the Bible. How wonderful. But you know, the internet has leaked us out to the world. We have 156 countries that have logged on. We get correspondence from all over the world as people are listening to Bible and it’s very, very exciting to see that happen.
And it’s truly the World Wide Web. I’m telling you this because maybe you have relatives, maybe you have men or women in the armed services, maybe you have missionaries in foreign countries. Would you tell them about Bible and would you tell them? Because they can listen. I was so surprised a year ago I was in Israel and we met a wonderful group of Nigerian Christians and I invited them to my Bible study at the hotel in the evening and about 40 of them came and one of them stood up and he said that he listened to the Bibleline in Nigeria.
I thought, oh my goodness, isn’t that amazing. Here we both travel from two different parts of the world and meet in Israel and there he He tells us how he listened. We really enjoyed fellow shipping with him. We met others from another part of Nigeria, Northern Nigeria, that also watched our TV and our list on our radio on the internet. We know that this is really happening. We met real live people in Israel that were listeners to the Bibleline program.
Pray for us. If you could help us, that would be great. We really could use your help. We thank God for every one of you who pray for and give the Bible on because you’re the ones who make it possible. Without you, we could not be on the air. And that’s the truth that really is. And we could use your help right now during this month of June 2008. So call and give a gift by credit card or call and ask for an envelope to be sent.
And we’ll send one with our address on it. You can mail your gift in. And you can also give on the internet on our BibleLineMinistries.org website, Goodity Online Bookstore. There’s a place there to be able to give. I hope you will. And I hope you will take advantage. We’re going to be joining the stations at the Bible on break. We’re going to do the second half hour Bibleline. We want you to stay right where you are. Don’t change that dial.
Keep that radio on. We’re going to now join the stations that have been on break and do the second half hour of Bibleline. If you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question, you can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright,]), we’re back from not breaking this Bible. I don’t know if you’re excited but I am. We’re living in the last day. days Jesus Christ is coming back.
We believe this is a time of harvest as people are questioning what’s going on here with the price of gas and with the price of food and with the rivers and rivers of wars and the craziness in government and the corruption and the fact that they’re uncertain about their leadership coming up as we come to a national election. This isn’t time. When people are open to be witness to, why not begin to tell people about Jesus? I’m finding people trusting the Lord all the time.
And they’re just hungry for the truth. And you and I have this great opportunity to be able to share with them. We have the tools. We have the book on how to lead a soul to Christ called Handbook of Personal Evangelism. We have it in Spanish. We have it in English. And we can get it in other languages. It’s available in six different languages, but let us know. And we also have Gospel tracks in English and Spanish that really work that actually lead people to Christ.
Even if you only just give it to them, it has everything there that will bring them to a clear decision about how to be saved based upon the finished work of Christ and that man’s works are filthy rags and will not save them. Would you You give us a call and we’ll be glad to tell you what we have. We’ll send you a resource sheet or you can go to our online bookstore and see these things and it’s very, very powerful.
And also of course we have the CDs of my teachings on different books of the Bible and different topics including the spirit world which is an area today where the demons are are really penetrating the churches because of weak doctrine, they are being allowed in in a subtle way and people don’t even realize it that we are living in a time when there are doctrines the Bible says of demons. And the Holy Spirit warns in 1 Timothy chapter 4 verse 1, the Holy Spirit speaks expressly about the last days that people would depart from the faith, giving heed the seducing spirits and doctrines of demons.
What’s happening right now? Do you know whether or not you’re hearing a doctrine from a demon or being seduced by Satan’s fallen angels? Well, it’s happening through people right now in churches and people don’t even know because, you know, when you’re deceived, you don’t know you’re deceived or you wouldn’t be deceived. I believe if you get into the Word of God, you’re going to be He was able to shine the light on how the devil works and he’ll be exposed and you’ll see it.
What a thrill it is to be able to say, whoa! I would have been deceived by that if I hadn’t been into my Bible and we want to facilitate helping you learn the scriptures and be on guard and ready to go. Anyway, we’re excited to be with you today live and we will be back with you again tomorrow. We are welcome. Miami this coming week to be on for the full hour and we welcome Evansville in Indiana today to be on the air with us and we are glad to be able to be there with you.
We will be right now to the phone lines we have John and Hickory, North Carolina. John, welcome to the Bible and you are on the air. Hello, Hank. Hey, John, how are you? Okay, I have a question on the Rapture. All right. It says no man knows the day of time, but that one noticed things in him.
Could you speak on that a little bit? Absolutely. You’re talking about John in 1 Thessalonians chapter four. I mean, excuse me, chapter five, where it talks about when the Lord would come back that we could know the times and the seasons. It then goes on to talk about how the Lord will come as a thief in the night, but what is interesting, and most people don’t read very carefully, it tells us he would come as a thief in the night for the unsaved.
In other words, he’d catch them by surprise. The thief doesn’t call your house and say, look, I’ll be over about 11 o’clock tonight. Get ready. Obviously, he doesn’t want to know when he’s coming. So he comes and surprises you. But the rapture will not be that way. Notice what it says in verse 4. First thessalonians chapter 5. where it says you brethren, you brethren, you believers are not in darkness, but that day should overtake you as a thief. So notice we’re not in darkness so that we would be surprised when the Lord comes back.
As believers we should be watching for Him to come back and when He comes we ought to say Lord I’ve been looking for a rapport to this day all my life. And here you are, you’re coming just like you said you would. It says in verse 5, you are all children of the light and children of the day. So we have the light of God’s Word and we are not in darkness that that day the Lord’s coming would overtake us as a thief.
So John we can not know the exact date but we can be, we can always come in soon. And I believe he really is. I don’t know how soon but I believe we’re right on the threshold of Christ coming and snatching us out at the event of the Rapture. Thank you for that call. We now have William in Richmond, Virginia. William, welcome to Bible and You’re on here. Yes, my name is and I’m calling about church path. I heard you spoke one day last week all my All my information that is like we are a love, a love gift.
So can you just explain where is it in the Bible and I appreciate that. Thank you. You’re very welcome. My William, it’s in 2 Corinthians 8 and 9. Our two. Our two wonderful chapters about New Testament giving. Under the law, you were required to give, but under grace, which is what we’re under now, you give from the heart. So it ought to be an expression of your love. And if you read 2 Corinthians 8, it talks about, because Christ’s love does, he gave his life at the cross of Calvary.
One example of giving Christ was for all of us. He gave everything. He gave his life for us at the cross. Let me read that verse. 2 Corinthians 8-9 says, for you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich, yet through your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might be rich. So here it talks about basically what God wants you to give And it really should be from the heart. It says down in verse 12, if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted.
That is your gift according to that a man hath, and not according to that he has not. So you give according to what you have, not according to what you don’t have. And you are to give from the heart as an expression of your love. Then we know in chapter 9 it says, if you give sparingly, then you’re going to have a sparing amount of reward. You’ll reap sparingly, and if you sow bountifully, you’ll reap bountifully. So as you give to that degree, you’ll be rewarded in heaven.
Then verse 7 tells us everybody ought to give. That’s a believer. Every man according has a purpose in his heart. doesn’t say according to the tithe under grace, but as you purpose in your heart, so let him give, not grudgingly, or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. And then verse 8 says, God is able to make grace abound toward you so that when you give that God will still take care of all of your needs as you give to him.
And that really is true. He’ll seem to make it multiply. And as you give God will, I think, make the things you have last longer. Few repairs. You may be having a few hospital or less doctor visits. And a lot of other things God will give you good health and take care of you. Well, thank you, William. I hope that helps. And those are some great scriptures. The whole two chapters ought to be read. And of course then it ends up at the end of that chapter 9, verse 15, with the greatest gift of all has been given to us.
That’s the unspeakable gift of God, the gift of eternal life God gave to us, and it cost a great price as God gave his life in the person of Christ. And he’s the supreme example of giving, to give freely out of love as he loved us and gave his life for us. We’re going to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and we’re going to talk to Tony. Tony, welcome to Bible In. Yes, how are you doing, Hank? I’ll try to listen to your program.
I guess you weren’t knowing yesterday. I had another commitment. I had to play a best job. I know everybody was not happy about that, but I couldn’t do any about it. Yeah, that’s a… I’m going to ask you about in the book of Timothy about a lady being a pastor. Yes. And I wanted to okay up the church when I was going to the pastor her husband had died And she’s now that the head of the pastor She’s just he’s the the pastor now is that wrong because in Timothy it said ladies shouldn’t be over man But you’ve been a little bit about that.
I believe it is wrong if you look at first Timothy 1st Timothy chapter 2, it says in verse 11, let the woman learn in silence with all subjections. So they’re not really to be the leader, the teacher, the instructor. In fact in verse 12 it says, I suffer or I allow not a woman to teach. This word teach here is a different word than in every other reference to women. This is teaching the Word of God. They are not really to be the leadership teaching the Word.
It says, I suffer not a woman to teach nor do you serp authority over the man but to be in silence. Now if you read Titus, it talks about women teaching but you’ll notice it is quite clear that it limits the area of their instruction and to whom they instruct. If you read Titus chapter 2, it says the age of women, it says that they should teach verse 4. Different word in the Greek than the word teach over there in 1st Timothy, that they may teach the young women to be sober, that’s number 1, to love their husbands, number 2, to love their children, that’s number 3, to be discreet, that’s number 4, to be chaste, that’s number 5, to be keepers at home, that’s number 6, to be good, that’s number 7, to be obedient to their own husbands, number eight, and it says that the word of
God be not blasting. So here there are eight things that women are instructed to teach. None of them are actually to be Bible teachers or Bible instructors. And it gives us two reasons why in first Timothy it says first, Adam was created first and then a woman. So God really pointed the men to be the spiritual leaders. He could have chosen, I guess, six women apostles and six male apostles. He didn’t. He chose six men. The first deacons in Acts chapter 6, seven of them, chosen were all men.
They really were no women deacons. Now the word deacon really means servant or table waiter. And we do have in some translations, and I think that’s still accommodate this bad had not done today have taken the word servant and translated it in reference to women as deaconesses. There was no such office as a deacon or a woman elder in the church or bishop, but there were women who served and if you translate the word as some of the translators have it, I believe wrongly in some of these crazy translations, I won’t start naming them because I get all excited here.
But they will say that they were deaconesses. And that’s not an office. They were simply servants. So that’s what that means. And there are no women deacons, elders, preachers, authorized in the scriptures. I hope that helps Tony. And it is a problem today where you see many churches have women pastors today. I want to ask you, have you ever heard of a church called the Rack of Church in Houston, Texas? yeah and i would say we’ve not one to you’d say away from the record yeah that i think the past name you would it be the colonel yeah i know exactly how much uh…
he has some strange ideas in including uh… the blood of christ that not really being uh… important and uh… some other things that are really way out you almost have to have a special victory which by the way he will provide If you don’t understand his terms, you won’t be able to understand his teachings. You have this little glossary of instruction on how to listen to his messages to understand what he’s talking about. So I think it’s a little bit foreign-strained.
He’s about 90 years of age now, I believe. But do we have the salvation rate? Say it by grace? He does teach salvation by grace, but then many other things are a little bit off. especially I don’t like his denial of the blood of Christ. So I wonder if he does have salvation right, if that be the truth. You can go online and Google and there’s a lot of places that we’ll talk about his bad theology. OK. Thank you.
All right. Thank you, Tony. Tony in. We have another Tony coming online here from Richmond, Virginia. It’s Tony Day. Tony is on…I don’t know. I’m going to go to Matthew because I don’t know where Tony is. Thank you, Matthew. You’re on the air. Good morning. Revelation chapter 3 verse 1. Can you talk a little bit about what the Lord meant by the seven spirits of God? Sure. In Revelation talks about the seven spirits of God, which I believe are the one and same Holy Spirit.
And many Bibles, keep colors, believe it, it’s his sevenfold fullness in all of his attributes. I’d like to go to Isaiah 11, where it talks about the Holy Spirit that would come upon Jesus, the Messiah, and anoint him and obviously empower him as being the Messiah as he came on the planet earth. And you’ll notice here it says in verse 2 about Jesus, this is Isaiah 11, 2, and the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him. And if you count here, there are seven, the spirit of wisdom, it’s the spirit of understanding, the spirit of counsel, the spirit of might, the spirit of knowledge, and the spirit of the fear of the Lord.
If If you count them all up, there are seven different things about here, the Holy Spirit, which I think is what is referring to in the book of Revelation a couple of times about the sevenfold Spirit of God. It is the one and only Holy Spirit, the third eternal member of the Godhead. Hopefully that helps. All right, yes. That’s basically that was revealed in Christ and not anywhere in the Old Testament. Yeah. Okay. Well, if I can tell Enoch, how do you feel about Enoch being one of the two prophets and also how do you feel about Enoch dispensationally?
I don’t know. Well, a couple of things about Enoch. Enoch, of course, did not live during the Age of Law. Now the tribulation period, which is what you’re referring to when two prophets will come back and preach after the Rapture and the Age of Law is not over. the last seven years of the Old Testament Age of Law will start ticking off the clock once the Rapture happens. And the two prophets will come back, I think, to come out of the dispensation of law.
So that would rule out Enoch who lived prior to the flood. Many people choose Enoch because he never died. But Elijah is going to come back. He never died. He was caught up in a fire of chariot. But Moses, we believe, is the other one. identified in Revelation chapter 11 as the one who smite the earth with the plagues as often as he will and turn the water to blood. That can only be Moses. But Moses and Elijah both come out of the dispensation of law.
Obviously Moses began the dispensation by receiving the law from Mount Sinai and Elijah was a great prophet during the dispensation of law. But if you read Jude verse 9, it talks about Satan having a real issue and having a little verbal dispute with Michael the Archangel over the body of Moses because apparently God has preserved his body to keep it so that he can come back in the tribulation period as one of the two prophets. And if you read Jude verse 9, I think it adds a lot of clarity to that.
So apparently Satan is saying, hey, that’s foul play, that’s not fair. You’re going to allow Moses to come back. I don’t want to see that guy again. He gave me such a fit and fair was court and I don’t want to see him. So I think it’s Moses and I drew that it out. Amen. Alright, thanks, Hank. Thank you, Matthew, and that was a great call. We would love to have you call at 1-800-576-3771 We hope that you will.
Rich in Sarasota says Catholics ask the Protestants to understand the Catholic development of doctrine. What do they mean by this term? Well, they’re trying to explain how they change their doctrine as they go along. I call them the chameleon church because they adapt themselves to the society and the culture and the countries that they are in. Catholicism in the Philippines is not the same as it is here in the States, nor is it the same in Haiti and Cuba and in Central America and other South American countries.
Wherever you go the Catholic Church has its own little brand of Catholicism which mixes many times paganism. And even occult practices. We have the Santa Maria here in Tampa, Florida, about 20,000. And this is a form of Catholicism that has come out of the Caribbean Islands. And they actually offer live sacrifices right here in Tampa of chickens and so on. And it’s kind of a scary group. They claim to be Catholic, but really they have this Santa Maria mentality.
and they actually offer sacrifices and have some strange teachings. But it’s a mixture of voodoo and other occult type practices mixed in with Catholicism. And many of them have altars in their front yards, and you can drive through neighborhoods and see them. Obviously, this is kind of a scary type of worship here that is fine in the United States. But we have it. And Catholicism is not the same everywhere. And you’ll find that you need to realize that the Bible doesn’t change.
If you read Jude 1-3, the book of Jude, it says we’re to contend for the faith that is the body of truth contained in the Word of God that was once delivered unto the saints. So we need to go back and see what does the Bible say and where to contend for the faith as delivered to us in the Scriptures. And when new doctrine comes along and changes, you can know it’s not from God. God said that he would not change what he spoke.
In Isaiah 45 he says he spoke in righteousness and that his word would not return. What that means is he would never take his word back. He would never revise his word. But whatever went out of God’s mouth, when he spoke it a couple of thousand years ago that we have in our scriptures, is not ever going to be rescinded or changed or altered. And the Catholics do change their doctrine. Just a few years ago is a mortal sin to eat meat on Friday.
Today it’s not. What about those people who went to hell? Because they eat meat on Friday about 40 years ago. Today if they were living, they wouldn’t have gone to hell. So that’s crazy and so many more things I could talk about, how did they change. The Pope just got rid of the doctrine of limbo. What happened to all the children that went to limbo? Now that there is no more a limbo. Of course, there never was a limbo, but these are all doctrines that are getting invented by the Catholic Church and they constantly are changing as they go along.
Okay, we now have Maggie in Tampa, Florida and Maggie, welcome to Bibleline Your On The Air. Good morning, God bless. I have a question. And the Bible Revelation has talked about, there’s 24 older elders that sit next to Jesus throne. You happen to know who they will be? I believe that they are the 12 patriarchs and the 12 apostles that represent all of the believers of the Old and New Testament. One of the reasons why I believe that the number 24 back in Chronicles is the number of complete representation.
Also if you look in Revelation chapter 21 when it talks about the New Jerusalem or heavenly home, there are twelve gates named after the twelve patriarchs and then there are twelve foundations which are named after the twelve apostles. So there you have the twenty-four. You have the twelve apostles and the twelve patriarchs, the twelve sons of Jacob or Israel and I believe they make up the total of the 24 which gives us complete representation of all of the believers of the Olden New Testaments in that group.
Thank you. That’s wonderful. I was just wondering about that. Well, good. Thank you. Have a nice day. Oh, okay Maggie. That was Maggie in Tampa, Florida. And we are going to now talk to Dennis and Dennis is calling in from Sarasota, Florida. Dennis, welcome to Bible Eye and you’re on the air. Okay, thank you. Hello. Hey Dennis. Good morning. What’s your question? Yeah, I’m a little bit troubled by Dennis. I’m a little bit troubled by this one. Hello? I’m right here listening and I don’t understand your question.
Yeah, I’m saying I’m a bit troubled by this one. Always is theory. It’s the one I call it a theory. Okay, well obviously there’s only one kind of salvation. of salvation is eternal or God chose the wrong word. He said, he should have said, I give you temporary life or I give you probation or I give you something else. But he chose the word eternal life and according to the Bible, then as you receive it at the moment you believe.
Even John 3 16 says, whose whoever believed it in Christ should not perish but have present tense eternal life. So if you become a believer at the moment you believe you receive eternal If it’s eternal, you’re gonna have it tomorrow. Next week, next year, 10 years from now, 100 years from now, and a million years from now, it’s eternal life that you receive. I don’t understand what’s so difficult to understand about that, but even more wonderful. John 637 says he would know why he’s cast out anyone that comes to him.
So he’s not going to cast you out. And then it gets better. Verse 39 of John 6, he said he would not cast out or he would not even lose one that had come to him. I’ve got a run, but thank you Dennis for that call. And God bless all of you who listen to Bibleline. We could use your help as we are in the lean summer months and we could use your support because we have to pay to be on the air and it gets quite expensive.
We don’t pay any salaries, but we certainly are pushing our way out there as far as we can with the gospel and we need your financial help. If you could give a gift call and give one today by credit card or call and ask for an unbooked descent and mail your gift in. But Bibleline is less supported. And thank you in advance. God bless all of you who pray for and give the Bibleline. I hope every listing is trusted Christ and is saved and is secure.
Dennis will be praying for you that you get that call in and I’ll send you a free CD that will talk about that and answer your questions. Keep looking up. Jesus is coming. I’m Dr. E.
