Here’s a small gift I give with all my heart. Well, it’s a small gift. She says she lives on a small social security check. Thank you for your ministry. God bless those who are giving, helping Bibleline. Some of these gifts are small in amount, but I believe God is going to bless them in a mighty way, just like the widows might that you read about in the New Testament.
Thank you for sending that nice note and that gift. It means a great deal to us here at Bibleline. to know that you are concerned and are trying to help the best you can. If you haven’t given the Bibleline this month, as we are about to close the month out, we’ll be back on Monday for the last day of June, and you could really help us at this time. And if you would, that would be great. You could call and give a gift by credit card over the phone, or you could call and ask for an envelope to be sent and mail your gift into Bibleline.
And by the way, we are list or supported. We have no other means of support. We don’t pay any salaries so this money really gets effectively. effectively used to reach out to a lot of folks and praise the Lord for all of you who do pray and do give and I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and your gifts to Bibleline and you can call that 800 number anytime today or over the weekend and you can give you a gift to Bibleline.
We have a lot of our fair questions ready to go here. We’ll try to catch some of those today and get them caught up and we’ll also try to take our live callers in just a minute. So if you have a question that’s already been left off here, I will hope to get it to it today. And if you call in, we’ll try to get you up live. We put obviously the live callers first, but we will go to the affairs.
If you have a question, you’re welcome to call in and leave that question with us or talk to us on the air and we’ll try to answer it. We’re getting to 1 John and our Bibles. That’s way back by the book of Revelation. 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, all right there at the end of your New Testament. Turn if you will to 1 John. Chapter 5 in verse 13 we have a verse that I call the written guarantee.
God says here, and I’m going to quote the verse, 1 John, chapter 5 verse 13, these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. So you can know, not hope, not guess, not perhaps not maybe, but you can KNOW. You can actually know that you HAVE, that’s present tense, that’s me right now. You actually possess eternal life at the moment you believe in forever thereafter.
And it says here I’ve written this unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know that you, H-A-V-E, have eternal life. What a great verse this is. And I saw it the very night that I got saved. What a great verse that was for me. I’ve called it ever since the written guarantee. I said, wow, God has put it in writing. And every time I have doubts I can go right to this verse and read it and see that God has said, look, I’ve written this to you.
Because you believe on Jesus Christ and I’ve written this to you so that you may know that you have eternal life Stories told about a man who had a lot of problems with his assurance of salvation had many doubts and so on and so he would turn to this verse of scripture and he knew that Satan was the one that was probably bringing a a lot of this confusion and doubts to his mind. And so because he read in the Bible, that Satan is the one who has the ruler over and has the power over darkness, he all of a sudden took his Bible with the passage open.
He had his fingers in his Bible so that it was spread open to 1 John 513. And he took his Bible and held it over the edge of the bed and was running the Bible up and down underneath the edge of the bed there. His wife came in unexpectedly and all of a sudden he grabs the Bible back up in his lap and she says, what in the world were you doing? He says nothing. And she says, oh, I saw you.
You were running your Bible up and down underneath the bed there. What is going on? And he said, OK, well, I’ll confess. He said, you know, I had aBILITIES here and I know that Satan is the one that’s probably doing it. He is the prince of the darkness. I figured I would show Satan this verse. So he was running the verse of an Amnae bottom of the bed so that Satan would take a look at it. Well, obviously you might as well just keep looking at this verse and drinking it in because it’s a promise and God says these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.
You know, his name is Jesus, which comes from the Hebrew Yeshua, which is a contraction of two Hebrew words. God’s personal name, which is four consonants, YH, WH, oftentimes pronounced today as YHWH. And a second Hebrew word that means salvation, YAH-Shah, Y-A-S-H-A, the two words together are Yeshua, which really means God would save you. And in English it’s pronounced Jesus. Jesus is God. He’s the one who took on human flesh who would come and save you. It says here in verse 13 of 1 John 5, these things have I written unto you that believe or trust on the name of the Son of God that is Yeshua or Jesus in English.
And it says here that you may know KNOW. Not hope, not guess, not perhaps, not maybe. But you could know you have eternal life. A lot of times when I ask somebody, if you were to die would you go to heaven? and they’ll say, I guess, I guess so. And sometimes they’ll say, well, I hope so. And sometimes they’ll say, I think so. And sometimes they’ll say, I’m working at it. And you get all the different kinds of answers.
But you know, the genuine believer ought to be able to say, I know I have eternal life. I know I’ve been forgiven of my sin. I know I have you turn off. I know I’m going to have him the truthfully for ought to be able to say I know throughout the scriptures you have the heroes of the Bible being able to proclaim that they actually knew that they had eternal life. Job said it. Chapter 19 verse 25 Job says I know not I hope I know that my Redeemer live he’s talking about Jesus way back there in the book of Job and he He talks about how should he die, the worms would eat up the body that he was living in now presently, but he said yet in his new body he would see God face to face one day.
Wow! Job knew that there would be a resurrection. Job knew that he’d have a new body. Job knew that he had eternal life. He knew about Jesus and he says that his Redeemer, which is Christ, would one day stand upon the earth and that’s talking about the Millennial Kingdom. amazing you find it throughout the Bible. David said it in the 23rd Psalm in verse 23 verse 6, he says, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
He says, I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. He didn’t say I might, or I think so, or I hope so, or I’d like to, but he says I I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Isn’t that great? So it’s everywhere. And wherever you look in the Bible, you have this wonderful assurance. And we find here in 1 John 5, 13, these things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God that you may KNOW know that you have eternal life.
You can actually know that you haven’t. Well, let’s look earlier in this chapter, 1 John, chapter 5 where we are. It says in verse 10, this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life and this life is in his Son. That’s 1 John 511. Look at that wonderful verse. There are three things here They are quite important. It says here, this is the record. This is what God is saying. God is setting the record straight, he might say.
And so here is what God says. This is the record that God has number one given. Eternal life is a gift. Most people are taught wrong and are trying to earn it, to try to gain it by their efforts and by their works and by their continuance in those works. And that’s a false plan of salvation. Nowhere does the Bible say that salvation is based upon works, it’s always based upon the work of Christ that he accomplished 2000 years ago.
Wow! So here it says, this is the record that God has given, wherever you look in the Bible, eternal life is the gift of God. Ephesians 2-8, it is the gift of God. Romans 6-23, the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. through Jesus Christ our Lord. Secondly, it says He gives to us eternal life. I’m amazed that people don’t pick up on what that means, but it’s eternal life. It’s not life until you sin again.
It’s not life until you break a commandment. It’s not life until you whatever you might do. It’s not temporary life. It’s not trial life. It’s not probation. It’s salvation. Look at that wonderful verse. What a great verse. 1 John 5, 11. This is the record that God has given its gift to us eternal life. It’s eternal. It’s forever. You cannot lose it. It’s forever and ever. And you receive it at the moment you believe. And then lastly, it says thirdly that this life is in his son.
Eternal life is not in anything that we do. is not in us, it is in Christ. And therefore if you have trusted Christ, you have Christ, and if you have Christ, you have life. Look at the next verse here, 1 John 5, 12. It says here, he that has the son has life and he that has not the son of God has not life. So it’s either you have Christ or you don’t have Christ. And if you have Christ, you have life.
And if you don’t have Christ, you don’t have life. So those that have Christ are going to Heaven. Those that don’t have Christ are going to Hell. There’s only two groups in this world according to the Bible. Those that believe on Christ are going to Heaven. And those that do not believe on Christ as Savior and they are going to hell. There is no other group. There is no third group or fourth group or fifth group. And this is plainly what the Bible teaches wherever you look.
That only through Christ can you go to heaven. Jesus said, I am the way. I am the truth. I am the life. And no man cometh unto the Father but by me. To be saved you must trust Christ. And so here it tells us, this is the record that God gave. He has given it’s a gift to us eternal life. It’s forever. It’s not probation, but it’s salvation. It’s not a trial period. It’s not a 10-day trial or a two-year trial.
It’s eternal life and it gives it the moment you believe. And this life is in the person of Jesus. When you receive Christ by faith, trusting that He died for you, shed His blood and paid your sin dead and full was buried and rose again from the dead, the Bible says that He gives you everlasting life. It says in verse 12, if you have the Son, that’s Jesus, you have life. If you don’t have Christ, then you don’t have life.
And then it says in verse 13, these things, if I’ve written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have HIV eternal life. Isn’t that great? It really is. I’m Dr. Ankeren Klimsterman. We’re going to go to the phone lines in just a minute. If you’d like to call in, that number is 1-800-576-3771, 1-800-576-3771. Isn’t that great? Well, we have here some off-air questions. I’ll be able to take a couple of those real quick.
And we find that in Revelation, let’s see here. Jackie says, she calls in from Tampa, Florida, leaves a software question, where in scripture does God tell us that man is three score and 10? Three score and 10. Well, it tells us that in Psalm 90. It says that the appointment time for man to live is approximately three score and 10. That’s 70 years. So if you’re getting up near 70, you’re probably at the end of your life. It says then by reason of strength you might live maybe 80 years.
And today we have some people that are living a lot longer. I just visited with an aunt on my mother’s side. She’s in, she’s 84 and she’s in great shape and drives and travels and, and does everything normally. My mother lived to be 92. My dad’s sister is still living at 104. But that’s about all you’re going to get. I don’t expect by aunt that’s 104 to live too much longer, but she has a great clear mind. She knows everything.
You can talk to her about when you call her up, she knows who you are and knows what’s going on and his alert. It’s wonderful, especially to have a good clear mind and 104. What a blessing that is. Well we thank you for that question Jackie as she calls in from Tampa and we hope that answer your question. That Psalm 90 verse 10 is where you’ll find that. Here’s a question from Richmond, Virginia. Albert calls in and he says, where in the Bible does it say that Samuel told Saul that he would see him in heaven?
Well, that’s in 1 Samuel chapter 28 when Saul goes to inquire of the witch of Indoor and Samuel comes up from out of heart of the earth where the believers were where paradise used to be prior to the death barrel and resurrection of Christ. And he said when Saul inquired about the battle with the Philistines the next day, he was told that he would lose the battle and that he and his sons would join Samuel. Obviously, Samuel was saved, the prophet of God.
And so Saul was going to be with Samuel and sure enough the next day Saul was terribly wounded soul commit suicide because he doesn’t want to be taken alive and he obviously went to paradise it is now in heaven today great question we have Annie in my Annie Florida and Annie welcome to Bibleline you are on the air Anthony, and are you there? If I don’t have anybody there, let’s see who I have on this one. Welcome to Bibleline.
Who’s this Scott? Yes. Okay. I would lost any, but I’ll try to get her back. Scott, welcome to Bibleline. Hey, how you doing? Good. Got a quick question for you. And then I’ll hang up to listen to your answer. There’s a, I’ll tell you about this multi-site option on church planning. And I was looking up some responses from opponents to it and then also the information that’s given on it by the proponents of it. And I’m just wondering, do you have a view either negative or positive on the multi-site approach to church planning?
You know, I’m not even really familiar with it. I have to say that I really not up on that. I’ll have to have you email me that information. I’ll look it up on the website and check it out and give you an opinion. But today, unfortunately, the churches are being formed really for the wrong reason. I think the real purpose of the church is the Great Commission. I don’t see that happening very often anyplace where Jesus said, go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
And most of that has to do about buildings and property and all those kind of things. And really the church is the people and it’s the believers. And we’re two or three, we’re gathered together in my name. That’s really constitutes the most elemental form of the church. And obviously as the church body grows of the local church, they probably need a place to meet. In the early church they met in homes. They’ve been a place to meet and obviously a place where they can call their church home.
But the church is not the building. The church is the people who attend in that building. And I think sometimes we get things backwards today. And I would have to take a look at it to see what they’re, I think, attempting to accomplish. But a lot of what I’ve been reading lately is that it’s all about getting somebody in the pew that can pay the bills to pay for the property in the building. There’s nothing about reaching the world with the Gospel of Christ because the world is going to hell.
Somebody once said that it really impacted me many years ago that God did not leave us here to make this world a better place to go to hell from. I’ll say that again because it really impacted me. God did not leave us here on the earth to make this world a better place to go to hell from. I think the purpose has never changed Christ, has commissioned us to preach the gospel to the lost, this world is headed for health.
It’s a perishing planet, it’s going to be destroyed one day, and everybody honored his perishing without Christ, and God still loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that who’s ever believed in him should not perish butNar everlasting life. I think somehow we missed the reason why we’re left here as believers and why we should assemble as a church body. Okay, and then one more question, we’ll hang up and listen to your answer. That in second makes reference to this falling away, this apostasy that will take place.
Do you think that the emergent church is perhaps a major indication that that’s beginning to happen, or do you look at that as something that’s been happening for years and years and generations and generations? And if you could just answer that, I’ll hang up and listen. Okay, yeah, I think so. It’s a part of the church going further and further away from God’s work. And by the way, I really don’t think that’s apostasy there. If you look up the Greek word in verse 3 of 2 Thessalonians 2, it talks about a departure.
And that departure is, I believe, the departure of the Holy Spirit. You read a couple verses down and you talk, it talks about the one who’s hindering iniquity in this world will be taken away. And that’s the Holy Spirit in us. When he goes we go, and I think it’s the rapture being talked about in verse 3, and when the rapture happens then the antichrist will be revealed, the tribulation period will be underway, and so it’s not really talking about an apostasy.
If it’s a departure from doctrine it would be apostasy. That’s why a lot of people have gone with the interpretation, but if you read carefully just a couple of verses later, the mystery of aniquity of all ready work and only he that now hinders iniquity will continue to hinder iniquity till he be taken out of the way. Then it says that man of sin the antichrist will be revealed. So it’s the rapture. It’s the departure of the Holy Spirit who takes the bride up to meet Christ in the air, the bridegroom, and that marks the beginning of the tree relation period.
Thank you for that question. And thank you for calling in. We’ve got every line lighted up. But we’re coming up on our break. So we’re going to say. . . . . . . . . We’ll catch all of you guys after the break if you just faithfully would hold on. Again, Bibleline needs help. We’re closing out the month of June and we need help to finish out on top. So if you could give a gift, maybe some could give a generous gift to help us out to make sure that we are current with everything, please help us and call in and give a gift by credit card over the phone or call in and get an envelope mailed to you with our address and mail your gift in to Bibleline.

He was a man saved and he was visiting us from Macedonia. Isn’t that amazing? Some of these biblical cities and places and provinces are coming up today more and more as we are living, I think, in the end times. We are going to return to the stations that have been on break and do a second half hour of Bibleline, so we certainly want you to hold your radio right where it is. Don’t change that now. Also again, if you can give the Bibleline and help us out, the month of June will be finished on Monday night, and we would love to have your help to come out of June okay.

Would you like to call Bible on and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. All right, we’re back for night break and this is Bible and it’s wonderful to be with you.
Thanks again for tuning in to the broadcast and we appreciate Each and every one of you that are listening and those of you that call in and those of you that tell us you pray for us and those of you that are giving to help Bibleline stay on the air. And we have a real partnership. You know in the Bible, when Israel went to war, for example, there were those who had to stay home and watch over the flocks and watch over the children and watch over the things that were happening at home.
The soldiers came back if they won the victory. Everybody shared equally the bounties or the victories of the war. Those that stayed home equally with those that went to the battlefront. I believe it’s the same way when you give to help and ministry that is engaging the enemy in battle and getting the gospel out, reaching lost with the gospel, getting people saved, challenging them. People are going forward. We hear it all the time in their Christian life, reading their Bibles and becoming active and some are going into Christian ministry full time as a result of Bible.
And we believe that you’ll share equally with us who are here at Bible and headquarters as you invest in this ministry. I think that’s exactly the way it works throughout the Bible. And Paul, he seemed to hint at that in Philippians 4 17 where he said to the Philippians about giving. He said, not that I desire a gift. He’s essentially saying, I’m not trying to get your money, but I desire fruit that may have bound to your account. So as they gave to Paul’s ministry, the fruit that Paul won to Christ would accrue to their account also in heaven.
Can you imagine what a good deal that was? If I were back in those days, I’d like to work full time just to support Paul and to get the fruit that Paul had accrued, counting on my account when I got to heaven and say, Whoa, I’d have as much as Paul had in the way of rewards. I believe that’s the way it works. I really do. And so we encourage you to give to Bible and I really believe that when we don’t give, we’re the losers because we are the ones who get cheated out of the reward we could have had when God is saying, here’s an opportunity for you.
earn treasure in heaven. And when we give to a ministry that is actually accomplishing something and is impacting the lost, and today it seems like so many ministries are just catering to Christians and they’re not even coming out directly and telling them what really is the facts of life from the Bible. And I think, unfortunately, there’s very few ministries that are really trying to reach the lost. They’re just dealing with and catering to and preaching to the choir or to the congregation or to those that are saved.
Pray for Bible Highness. We try to reach out and break new ground and get people saved and get them moving forward and get them in turn, sharing the gospel with others. If you could call today and give a gift to Bible, it would be greatly appreciated. Your gifts are what carry this program in your area. And we would hate to not be able to continue a program. That would be a shame. But we trust the Godless supply. And if he doesn’t in some areas, we might have to let those areas go.
But we trust the Godless supply. We are down in Miami now for the full hour. And we leap down in faith, not having the money to pay for that. God will raise up some of our audience in Miami to help us take care of that expense for the second half hour and pray that we might be able to see the Lord wonderfully take care of that. We’re now going to go to Annie in Miami, Florida. I believe we were trying to get here before.
Annie, welcome to Bibleline. Yes. Okay, Pastor. How are you this morning? Fine. Thank you. I had listened to this radio station. I tried to every morning and I look forward to by the line. Wonderful. But thank you. As I have been listening to questions, I hear people say, I’ve heard questions and answers that as it relates to believers and unbelievers, those of us who trust in Christ and those who don’t, that we will go to heaven when Christ comes back.
who don’t believe will be cast into the lake of fire or if it will go to hell. Is there literally in the Bible, is it literally an eternal hell? Because Jehovah Witness came by, never turn them away, I listened to what they say, yet he was saying that there is not an eternal hell. and unbelievers of those who don’t trust when Christ cast away. They will be going into an external existence as they’ve never been born. Well, the Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t get much right, and that’s one more thing.
And I think you should not listen to them because you’ll get mixed up. The Bible is very clear. Christ spoke more about hell than he did about heaven. And if you read what he says in Mark’s Gospel, chapter 9, verse 42, 44, 46, He says three times that those who die without Christ, their soul will never die and the fire will never be quenched. He says it again in verse 44, and the soul will never die and the fire will never be quenched.
In the next verse it says in verse 46, the soul will never die and the fire will never be quenched. He talks about in Matthew 2541 that those that are lost will be cast into the eternal lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false where where Satan is angels will eventually go later in Revelation it talks about the antichrist and the false prophet being there and they’ll be tormented day and night forever and ever. So if hell is not literal then heaven is not literal and nothing is literal in the Bible because the Bible doesn’t say well this is not real I’m just trying to scare you.
The Bible is talking about a real hell and you see it in the Old Testament. Again the same thing that the soul would never die, the fire would never be quenched in Isaiah 66. And Daniel 12 2 says that some will be awakened to everlasting contempt of God and everlasting punishment while others will be awakened to everlasting life. Daniel 12 2 and many many more verses we can cite. So clearly they don’t believe the Bible. And that’s the problem is that they believe the Watchtower Society, and that’s what they’re preaching to you because they don’t get it right.
They don’t believe in the Trinity. They don’t believe in the deity of Christ. They don’t believe in salvation by faith. They don’t believe in hell. They don’t believe in blood transfusions. They don’t believe in fighting for your country. They don’t believe in sleazy in the flag. They don’t believe in observing birthdays. And I could go on and tell you more about what they don’t believe than what they do believe. I think you ought to stay away from them. Okay, Pastor, very quickly that was Daniel chapters of two and Mark.
Mark chapter 9 verse 42, 44, 46, 66. As a 66. The last chapter. Okay, and one more question and I’m off the line. What does it mean to pray in the spirit? told that the way you pray in the Spirit is by speaking in tongues. And so if I don’t have the gift, I mean, I don’t know. But I was told, well, you don’t have to know the Holy Spirit will make intercession, especially when you’re going through some real deep problems.
You need to pray. And I would like to know your answer on that. Thank you. I’m going to hang up as you answer the question. Thanks. That cannot be further from the truth as well. Praying in the Spirit means praying in line with scripture, which the scriptures are authored by god the holy spirit the holy spirit is the author of scripture god spoke through prophets and apostles to give us the bible and the one who superintendent and guided directed the writing of the bible was the author of scripture which is god and god the holy spirit according to the peters up pistol is the author of uh…
scripture and when you talk about and that the praying in the spirit is tons There is no tongues today. The gift of tongues was temporary in nature and ceased. But the verse that they often refer to that you just, I think we’re alluding to, that the Holy Spirit would intercede. Let me read that verse in Romans 826, where it says likewise, the Spirit also himself helpeth our infirmities, for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself make a intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
So here they say this is the Holy Spirit and the groanings are the gibberish that they do and it’s supposedly a prayer language. But guess what? I ask them a question. Can anybody hear this when you do it? Can you hear it? They say yes, of course. Well then you don’t have the Holy Spirit’s interceding on your behalf here because notice It says here, the Holy Spirit himself make a thinner session for us with groanings. Mark the last four words here, which cannot be uttered, which cannot be uttered, which cannot be uttered.
If one little peep comes out of your mouth, one little groan comes out of your mouth that’s audible, then this is not God the Holy Spirit doing it. Notice the Holy Spirit does it silently as he intercedes on your behalf, but he does not do it with groanings which can be uttered. These are sounds that people are making that are counterfeit. And not the Holy Spirit at all. I’ve been in meetings where people would grow and moan and jibber.
And to me it’s so distracting because I can’t concentrate on what I’m trying to pray about. And not only is it not the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit does not make any audible sounds. Read the verse carefully and most people don’t study the Bible carefully and read it carefully, but this is certainly not a proof text for a gibberish and a special prayer language to God. language to God. It just does not exist. Thank you, Annie, for calling in.
We now have Ken down in South Florida in Miami, and Ken, welcome, Bible, and you’re on the air. I just had, you know, yesterday I called in, and usually when I call in, I feel kind of rush, but I wanted to communicate. I had mentioned to you that greeting of Christ and made greets the Christ in you. And you had said, oh, that sounds kind of new age. I didn’t, God forbid, that that would be the case. You know, as a child of God, the Christ in you, which of God, have received His fullness, you agree with that?
Yeah, I do. But you know, it’s interesting. I had a lot of callers call in, off there and tell me that sounded like new age because actually I would imagine you’re going to be greeting me and I’m going to greeting you back and I don’t know that you are aware of or I am aware of consciously that Christ is actually making a communication when we lock up between the two of us and truly if we’re genuine believers we both have Christ in dwelling us but I don’t know that that’s of scriptural phrase, I don’t see it anywhere in the New Testament where Paul says to any of his readers when he writes to any of the different cities, hey the Christ in me is now greeting you.
I just don’t see it. I’ve never really had heard it before you. You were the first one to bring that up. Well, let me explain it if I can’t just a minute. I realize you have other callers. But I think that because the reason I brought it up is because I’ve failed to discipleship. Through discipleship is simply witnessing to the fact of the indwelling fullness of Christ that indwells every believer, not just some. And from that basis is how we grow all made a clear and colossians that it was the mystery that was hidden, that mystery and the riches of God.
And so that is Christ in you the hope of glory. So when I say the Christ in me greets the Christ in you, it’s simply the blessings that God has given to me. You as well, because all of His fullness is there with you, as well, we have all received of His fullness. Now when it comes to discipleship, that’s where I believe we’ve lost it when we use the terms to serve God. And just let me explain myself, and that comes to the fact that God, my relationship with him is not based on like all the other pagan gods like the Muslim God or the Catholic God where we like God is some unattainable.
He’s become my father. Absolutely. And I believe that we ought to become living sacrifices as it says in Romans 12 that we are besieged or pleaded with or urged. Paul says I plead with you that you would present your bodies a living sacrifice and we might you know serve him and it says it’s only this is only reasonable it’s our reasonable service so as believers we ought to be serving but we don’t serve to become saved and we’re not doing this because of the fact that we’re in danger of not going to heaven we do it as a natural thing we want to do I I know when I became saved, I wanted to tell other people about the Lord.
I wanted to read my Bible. I wanted to become a round of believers. And it was a natural thing that happened. But I didn’t do it to be saved. But definitely we’re saved to serve. And I think there are numerous verses that would say that, that we have been created for that purpose to serve him and to do good work. So I think if that’s the case, we’re in agreement. We now have Steve in Tampa, Florida. Steve, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air.
Well, good morning, Dr. Hank. I just wanted to call in and speak to you for a moment because last night my brother and I were looking at scripture and I get a lot of people who come to my website which you’re familiar with and they ask for help and guidance. Some people who are perhaps married to a spouse who’s Catholic who wants some support from the scripture to help them to point out where Catholicism diverges from the Bible. And it truly was a really tremendous scripture that we looked at last night which is Hebrew 6.
I come to realize now that when I was a Catholic, I was doing exactly what Hebrew 6 says, and that is I was attempting to crucify Christ over and over and over again unto myself, which according to the scripture says I’m putting Christ to open shame by doing that. And I feel such regret for that’s the way that I lived my life before as I was a Catholic. I wonder to myself and I thought maybe you could comment, why is it now that this semester simple truth of scripture is so obvious to me when I was a Catholic it was obscured.
That’s something that you believe that other religions that are not Christian like let’s I would like to say Catholicism is that something that they are obscuring from their membership on purpose or is it ignorance or what do you think is the root of that? That now when I try to converse with someone and show them scripture and point out to them how incredibly simple and clear the message is that they are not. the message? Well I think 1 Corinthians 2, 14 has the answer and that is that the natural man, the unsaved man, the person that’s not born again does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, they are fool-a-cis of Him, neither can He know them.
So before you get saved, obviously you’re just blinded to spiritual truth. And of course, in the Roman Catholic Church, these people generally are not reading their Bible and they’re not aware of what Scripture is saying at all. Plus, if they read it, they probably wouldn’t pick up on what it’s saying because as an unbeliever, it doesn’t make any sense. And you hear that all the time when you talk to people who say the Bible doesn’t make any sense to me, it seems like foolishness.
Well, that’s exactly what 1 Corinthians 2, 14 says, will be the response of an unsafe person. So, once you become saved, the Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit illuminates our understanding, and that is He sheds light on His Word. And I know David prayed in the 119th Psalm, opened my eyes that I may catch these glimpses of truth out of your word. And as we ask the Lord’s help, he unfolds the meanings. But you’re right, in the Roman Catholic Church, the Mass is the sacrifice of Christ again to pay for sin.
And that’s according to the catechism. The catechism says, what is the Mass? And the answer is the unbloody sacrifice of Jesus Christ again to pay for sin. The next question in the catechism says, is the Mass the same sacrifice as that of Calvary? And the answer is, yes, the Mass is the same sacrifice as that of Calvary. So every time a Mass is offered up and you’re offered up daily around the world, Jesus is being re-crucified over and over again hundreds of thousands of times and the one sacrifice that he made was sufficient.
We don’t need another sacrifice. Hebrews 10-10 says, by the will of God we are sanctified or made pure Holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And verse 14, by one offering you have perfected forever them that are sanctified. So we don’t need a second or third or fourth or fifth or sixth and so on. And unfortunately Roman Catholics are taught that they have to go back and crucify Christ again at the Mass in order to get their sins paid up to the moment, which again is Rome because Christ paid for all of your sins, past, present and future, when he died of the cross.
And when you receive his finished work at the cross, he saves you at that moment eternally. So you receive eternal life. Steve, I know your website is called Catholic to Christian and not ORG, I believe it is. And that’s really been a good site. Yes, it’s actually dot org or dot com, either one work. I was just really, really moved by Hebrew 6 last night because it’s such a powerful, powerful, clear message of everlasting salvation, of eternal salvation. It’s just tremendous.
Thanks again, Dr. H. You’re very welcome. Most people think it teaches you to lose your salvation. The opposite is true. It teaches you can’t go back and become saved again because you’re already saved forever by the one-time sacrifice of Christ. to try to go back and have Christ crucified again, you would only do it to yourself because you will not be ever crucified again, period. And if you do that, you’re putting Christ in an open shame. It’s really a blasphemy against Christ to say that he needs to be crucified.
He died on the cross. Thank you, Steve, for calling in. We now have Benjamin in clear water. Benjamin, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Hank. Long time, not up to you. Yeah. I was in Dominican Republic doing some missionary work. Good for you. I happened, Daniel, chapter four, verse 33, the name of the person I can not pronounce that, Nabokuronoso. And he said that he ate grass with the animal and the fingernail also grow up and, or whatever, I would like to know if that guy there he has some kind of disease and that’s why he saw that in his mind of what happened.
Can you explain that to me? Yeah, Nebuchadnezzar because of his sin against the Lord, the Lord afflicted him with this mental disorder. And Premiership, he ran around like a cow out in the field and ate grass and so on. And he didn’t cut his hair or his nails. and it says here that his hairs were grown like eagles feathers and his nails like birds claws. But at the end of those days God restored his right mind to him and he winds up becoming saved.
And how wonderful. You can read his testimony at the beginning of chapter 4 where it almost sounds like New Testament epistles where he says, I thought it good to show the signs and wonders that the high God had walked toward me. How great are his sons, how mighty are his wonders, his kingdom is everlasting kingdom, his dominion is from generation to generation. Nebuchadnezzar got saved and it was a result of this seven year ordeal that he went through. He was brought to his knees prior to that.
You see him boasting that he had built the kingdom and that he was apparently as great as God or was like God and God says, oh no, you’re not and he brought him to his knees and then he realized that he needed a trust in the living God of the Bible to be saved. And then he not he not paid grass with the animal? Yeah, he did for seven years. He sure did. And after that no he didn’t anymore.
No, he was restored. And then that that that was true what happened to him. Yeah, and he and God restored his kingdom to him and everything. He’s he came back to his right mind and he got his his his his throne back and and was was apparently a Christian leader ruler and he made a decree that everybody was to follow the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Look at verse 29 and 30 of chapter 3. Therefore I make a decree that every people and nation and language speak anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego shall be cut in pieces.
That is the God of the Bible, that is the God that appeared with him in the burning fiery furnace. One was like into the Son of God, Nebuchadnezzar said, and I think it’s right along in there somewhere he got saved. And so praise the Lord. Okay, thank you, Adam, all right. You’re very welcome. Good to hear the voice again, Benjamin, and glad you’re doing missionary work. We’ve come right up here on the end of the program, and so I’m going to probably not take any more callers.
