By the way, this is the last day of June and if you could help us, financially, it would be wonderful. We are Lister supported. We have no other means of support.

We’re really not trying to get your money. We don’t pay any salaries. We use all this money to get out as far as we can and this reaches many people with the Gospels we can. We believe we’re running against the clock. I believe Jesus is coming. Are you reading the headlines? Are you watching the signs right now? It appears that there is war that will take place between Israel and Iran. And these are in time events and Jesus is coming I’m not a date setter, but I’ll tell you.

This is a time when you need to do something for God while you can do it. And one of the ways you can effectively reach out with the Gospel of Christ is to be the partners with us here at ByBlind, and will be your voice. We’ll give out the Gospel, and if you can keep us on the air, we’ll be able to team up and try to win as many people to Christ as we possibly can before Jesus returns.

I certainly hope you’ll participate and help us. You can call that 800 number and offer to give a gift by credit card over the phone or you can ask for envelopes to be sent with our address on it and you can mail your gift back in to Bible and. But truly we need your help. We are listeners supported only. We have no other means and we are really trusting God day by day to supply the needs that we have to be able to carry this program out to you and to the world.

We have two new countries added to our website list, Kestra Data, vlogged on this past week. And one is a country north of China, and it’s one of those names I have difficulty pronouncing. I’ll maybe do it during the second half of the show. But also we have a group of Pacific islands out there in the South Pacific that have logged So 158 different countries or island groups now have logged on from all over the world, six continents represented, everything except for Antarctica.

Well, let’s get into our Bibles. If you’re ready, this would be a good time to open your Bible as well. We’re going to turn now to 2 Corinthians, and this will be in chapter 5, where the Bible gives us this wonderful promise in verse 8 where it says, absent from the body, present with the Lord. What a great thing that is to know. When you die as a believer, 2 Corinthians 5a, you’ll be absent from the body, you’ll be present with the Lord.

Not wonderful to know. There’s no waiting place. There’s no holding place. There is no purgatory. ThatZ That’s right, purgatory is a man-avated doctor and it’s not in anybody’s Bible. If somebody says there’s purgatory, say show me in the Bible, they cannot show you a verse, there is no verse. In fact, it’s contrary to the doctrines of the Bible because the only place sin could be cleansed or taken away or washed or purged is at the cross of Calvary. That’s right.

So you could work and pay and sweat and whatever. And it would never take away your sin. There’s only one thing that could take away your sin that’s the blood of Christ. The hymn writer got it right when he said, what can wash away my sin? And the answer is the blood of Christ. Nothing but the blood. Nothing but the blood. Let me get sidetracked for just a minute and give you a great verse. Hebrews chapter 1. If there is a purgatory, here’s how the Bible describes that purgatory.

It’s Hebrews chapter 1 verse 3. It talks about Jesus Christ here. It says, who being the brightness of his glory. You know, Jesus is God. And he’s got to took on human flesh and he is the brightness of God’s glory. And then it says, the expressed image of his person. So here we have the exact image of God’s first and God revealed himself in human flesh in the person of Christ. So he’s the brightness of God’s glory. He’s the express image of God’s person.

Hebrews 1, 3. In upholding all things by the word of his power, Christ holds all things up and together. And it says here, when he had by himself purged our sins. There’s that word purged our sins. Our sins were purged by Christ and that happened at Calvary. There is no separate place called purgatory where your sins can be cleansed. Purgatory really means by definition a place of purgatory, a place of cleansing, and the The only place that your sins can be cleansed isn’t the cross.

It’s only through that blood that Christ shed at the cross that your sins could be purged. What an interesting verse this is Hebrews 1, 3 says, who when by himself, when he had by himself purged our sins. Interesting, we don’t get any part of it because we couldn’t purge our sins. There’s nothing we could do to take away one sin that we’ve ever committed. And so Jesus by himself purged our sins by his death this one you see he’s not any Just any person that came along here according to Hebrews 1 3.

He is God And it says here in verse 3 that he’s the brightness of God’s glory He’s the express image of God’s person that he upholds all things by his power and then it says when he had by himself itself purged our sins. Jesus took every sin that you would ever commit, past, present, and future, every sin that anyone in the human race would commit. And he laid all of them upon himself on the cross, and Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty for the sin that you and I have committed.

And he purged our sins by his death and shed blood and was buried and then rose again for the dead and he’s alive forevermore. So if there’s a purgatory, Calvary, there is no place where YOU can purge your sins. Jesus by himself purges sins on the cross, and when you trust in his finished work you become safe. Well anyway, 2 Corinthians 5-8, where we began, tells us when we as believers die, we are absent from the body and we are present with the Lord.

That’s right, it is instantaneous. So you don’t go to some holding place. There is no purgatory. There is no limbo. These are all men and men and doctrines. That’s right. You cannot possibly go to purgatory. And what is sad is that people are being extorted over the doctrine of purgatory. They’re told that they can pay money and have masses set and candles lighted. And it will help get their loved ones out of purgatory sooner If you would just keep giving that money, that have percet and masses performed in the name of your loved one, there is no purgatory.

This is magic land. This is a fiction land. This is totally not supported by anything in the Bible. And it goes contrary to the Bible because the only way sin could be paid for is by death. And it was Christ’s death that shed blood that paid our sin debt. And there is no place where you can go and work off your sins, which is what is taught about purgatory, where you work off your sins. And by the way, the Roman Catholic Church estimates that every person that dies, that Roman Catholic will spend a hundred thousand years minimum in purgatory paying for their last sins that they didn’t get paid for here.

A hundred thousand years, that’s a long time. But guess what? I have good news. There is no purgatory. We have good news, 2 Corinthians 5, 8, when we die we are present with the Lord. That’s good news. Verse 1 here, by the way, in 2 Corinthians 5, tells us that we have a new body waiting for us in heaven. I love what it says in verse 1, it says we know that we have. We know K-N-O-W, not perhaps not maybe, not that we guess or we think so, or this is a hunch that we have.

It says we know. Why? Because God told us so. So we know that we have, it says a new house, a new building for our soul, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. We have a brand new body waiting for us in heaven. I can’t wait. And by the way, we’re all going to be in the prime of life in our new bodies. If you’re older, you’re going to be younger. If you’re younger, you’re going to be older.

I think will be about 33 years of age in appearance. Christ when he died was about 33 years of age and the Bible says we’re going to get a resurrection body like His resurrection body. In fact back in the Old Testament in the book of Job it says that our flesh will be fresher than our babies. There’s nothing like a brand new baby and baby skin and their complexion is so wonderful and their skin is so soft, you know, we’re going to have wonderful skin, wonderful bodies, youthful bodies, and we’ll be able to live and enjoy those bodies forever and ever and ever.

But at the moment of death as we lose this body, which we can only have maybe 70, 80, maybe 100 years, we’ll die and the Bible says we’ll be absent from the body, present with the Lord. And then in verse 1 it says we know that when we get there we have a new body waiting for us. A new body eternal in the heavens it says. It doesn’t say we hope so or guess so. It says we know so.

Verse 1 says we know that we have this new house for our soul waiting for us in heaven. Aren’t you excited? I certainly am. By the way, the way things look in this world, I wouldn’t doubt that the Lord is going to come real soon. You might just be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and never, ever experience physical death. Did you know the Bible talks about a group that will never die? That’s right. Jesus said it, and by the way he’s talking about the Rapture, and it’s not in the normal passage where you normally look for it, in John 11 when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.

He tells Martha, I am the resurrection and the life. He the believeth in me, though he were dead yet shall he live.” That’s John 11.25. And then in verse 26 he talks about the rapture, and he says, and whosoever liveth, and believeth it in me shall never die. He’s referring to a separate group at the end of the age, and I think we’re there right now at the end of this age. And if you’re living in you’re a believer when Christ returns at the end of the age, you’ll be a part of a group that will never die.

That’s right, you’ll never die. You’ll never die. You’ll be caught up alive in the air, to meet the Lord in the air, and be given your brand new body on the way up. That is really exciting. I’m Dr. Englund from Mrs. Byblind. Great to be with you. We have our phone lines are starting to light up. We’d love to have you call us at 1-800-576-3771. And just give us a call and we’ll try to answer your question if we possibly can.

That’s 1-800-5763771. So give us a call and we’ll try to answer your question. You can leave it off there if you would like to. We’re now going to go to Denver, Colorado and take our first caller, Adam. Welcome to Bibleline from Denver, Colorado. Okay, thank you, Pastor. Will you give me the word brethren in the Bible? Well it means brother. As a believer, we are all members of God’s family and brothers and sisters to one another. So when you trust Christ, you become a brother or a sister in the family of God.

And when the New Testament letters address believers as brethren, it’s talking about those that are not physically or biologically related as brothers and sisters, but those that are spiritually born again into the family of God and become brothers and sisters in Christ. Okay, because I noticed that, especially in James, because that’s very important because you know how it says my brethren, my brethren, but then it talks about faith and work and all that stuff. I just want to make sure when I’m explaining it to people that brethren means faith, right?

The people who are… So much. Yeah, I saw him at the Save there and as he talks about this brethren, if you notice James 118, he talks about how we’re born again, we’re begotten of God into the family of God and that’s how we become brethren. And he’s warning us as brethren that although we’re saved, we’re not exempted from the consequences of not doing works. It doesn’t mean that we’ll go to hell or that we’ll be lost or not be saved, but it means that we’ll suffer the loss of reward.

And as James says in 2 14, you won’t have any profit. There will be no gain, nothing to show for your life from the point you trust Christ on if you don’t have work. So as a believer, we certainly ought to work, but we don’t work to become saved. We work because we are saved and God is going to richly reward us for doing so. And that’s right and that’s the key word right is a brethren. That’s correct Okay, thank you very much.

You’re welcome Adam. Thank you for calling in from Denver, Colorado We have Derek down in Miami, Florida Derek. Welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air Yes, sir. You’re on the air go ahead Yes, sir. My question is in reference to point first of all my question is in reference to a KFC What chapter is that? Second chapter verse 26, the very last sentence on that verse, it contradicts what the verse says and I’m confused about it. Turning to right now it says, for God give it to a man that is good in his sight, wisdom and knowledge and joy.

But to the sinner, he gives a travail to gather and to heap up that he may give to him that is good before God. Basically, it’s talking here about two different groups. Those that are good in the Bible are those that are saved. It says in Ecclesiastes in chapter 7, there’s none that doeth good, no not one. There’s not a just man on the earth before God. But when you trust Christ, you are given God’s righteousness and are considered good or righteous.

And when it talks about the sinner, there is talking about a person who is lost. So for the believer, God is going to give you wisdom and knowledge. You know, the word of God is not really understood by the lost person because it is spiritually discerned. In 1 Corinthians 2, 14 it says the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God there foolishness to him. He’s the first to him. Neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.

So God gives knowledge through His Word to the believer. He opens up the understanding to the scriptures, whereas the lost person is going to obviously be brought to travail not only in this world, but ultimately in hell forever and ever. Okay, and one last thing. So what does it end the verse with this too? Identity and striving after the wind. That’s like a lost battle, right? So it’s saying that if you’re attempting to gain it of yourself, you’re just going to be just wasting your time because you can’t do it.

You really need to have God to open up your understanding of the scripture. And if you become saved, then God is going to open up your understanding, give you wisdom and knowledge. But if you’re lost, you’re going to be blinded and not see what’s happening until you are in hell that is too late. Okay, okay. Thank you, Derek. Thank you very much. Glad you’re listening in down in Miami. We now are going to go to Bell Glades, Florida. We have Nathaniel.

I’ve read about you in the New Testament in John 1. Welcome to Bible talking she called a quick question uh… i know what i have no seen in the bar but she said down radio said that i don’t like to get off get off moseleyl to why well i don’t know about the second one he had one and uh… she was not a very spiritual lady and uh… she almost got moses killed because she refused to uh… circumcised uh…

the sons of moses and uh… as a result, God just about killed Moses. But when she saw that the angel of the Lord was going to kill Moses, she knew what was going on and she took a sharp stone and circumcised her sons and she was, did it but she was disgusted over it. She said, you’re a bloody husband to me and she never really is given much ink in the Bible because she was never a spiritual woman. She went back to be with her father and we don’t see her really with Moses.

The rest of his ministry is he leads the children of Israel. So he didn’t have any Egyptian wives here. I mean, he’s both your wives. Never. No. Oh, okay. Her name was Zapora and that was the only wife that I know that Moses had. Oh, okay. Well, thank you, Nathaniel, and Nathaniel’s listening down there in Bell-Glades, Florida. You’re welcome to call us, and we’re excited about Miami being on for the full hour now. And you can be heard, I think we can be heard from Marathon Key all the way up to West Palm Beach, and I hope you’ll pass that word along to your friends.

And also, tell them about the internet because that allows you to go back and catch the full program if you only get bits and pieces uh… where you’re out about while you’re working anyway by me good to have you on board with us again uh… we thank god for the opportunity we have to go on there but again we need your help this is the thirtieth of june and we could use your help in specially south for the week uh…

take it on the second half hour but we didn’t have the funds to do that we’re just trusting that god will raise it up uh… as you people would appreciate having a flower in that you would help us be able to take care of those bills. In any case, gonna be with you today. We are into July tomorrow, the second half of this year. Could be the one who come this year, would he come? I don’t know for sure, but definitely we ought to be watching.

And if he comes, I believe it’ll be on the Feast of Trumpets, which this year will be September 30th. That means beginning tomorrow, we’ve only got three months more on the Earth as Christians, if… The Lord would come this year. I didn’t set a date, so please don’t get panic. I’m not a date setter, but you know, I think it’s exciting to live. Expecting that Christ could come at any time. And whatever year he comes, I believe he’s going to come on the Feast of Trumpets.

You know, this present church age began on the Feast of Pentecost. The next feast in order is the Feast of Trumpets, which happens in the fall. That’s probably the feast that will end this present age and we the church will be caught up to meet the Lord in the year and We’ll get that brand new body and if you die before that if it is a believer You’ll be absent from the body present with the Lord as we already said good to be with you today We want to again welcome a station there in West Virginia.

We’re now on W E M M M 1470 and FM 107.9 and the Charleston Huntington West Virginia area. We’re excited about that. And also WVHI AM 1330 in Evansville, Indiana. And we are glad to have you listening to Bible. And this might be your first day listening. And we hope that you’re enjoying the program. We got another half hour to go. So we’re going to take a short break. We’ll come right back. And so don’t go away. Keep your radio tuned right where it is.

And we’ll be right back for a second half hour of Bible and I’m Dr. Anglins from stay tuned. I’ll be right back. Don’t go away Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well I’m Dr. Anglins from it’s great to be with you today. Thanks again for tuning in to the broadcast. We’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida from our studios here at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor and we look forward to meeting you sometime.

If you can ever come to Florida please come by and knock on our door and say hello we would love to have you do that and we meet here during the week we have our resource center open about 430 every day you can come by on a worship day on a Wednesday or Sunday you’re welcome to join us for that this coming Sunday we’re having a July 6th will be celebrating July 4th with a great picnic and it’ll be We hope that you come on our third Sunday and that’s a great time to not only come to the service but stay then for a dinner time of getting to sit down and eat and enjoy meeting one another and so on.

Well, it’s Monday and tomorrow will be the 1st of July and will be into the second half of the year 2008 and may be counting down for the Lord to return. I don’t know a date for the Lord’s return, but I do know that he’s coming and wouldn’t it be something if he came this year? We’d be absent from a body present with the Lord. Let me tell you about Bible and music for children. That is an exciting new development with Bible and we have six CDs that are available with children’s music on it that’s really great and catches the imagination of the child.

You can actually have your child’s name inserted in each of those songs in those albums and it really does catch their attention. My granddaughter just stops in her tracks whenever I play that CD. It begins by telling how she’s special. That God made her special. That God loves her and that Christ died for her. And your child’s name, if you go to our website, you can click on Bible Eye Music for Children on the online bookstore, for example, on the right side of every page, there’s a vertical banner.

Click on that. You’ll be able to type in the name of your child, your grandchild, your nephew or niece, and you’ll be able to actually sample on the internet what it would sound like to hear these songs with your child or grandchild’s name on the album. And then you can order it when you get it, your child will hear their name about 45 times. It’s just powerful. It opens the door. Really opens the door for communication about Jesus. And that’s an important thing right now.

As the Lord is coming back, you want to make sure your children and your family, your parents, your grandparents, everybody is saved, so that we all go out together at the Rapture. We’re going to rejoin the stations that have been on break into a second half hour of IBLINE, so I want you to keep your radio tuned right where it is. We’re going to do that right now, so don’t go away. Keep you ready to do it right where it is.

Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can. Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Well we’re back for a break and this is Bibleline. I’m grateful that we can be with you. And we thank God for all of you that pray for us every day. We get wonderful notes from people that say we pray for you daily there at Bibleline. And we certainly need those prayers and we appreciate every one of you for being a part of the Bibleline program by your prayers and also your generous gifts that keep us on the air.

This is the last day of June. And we do need your help to be able to clear out the month of June on top. We need your financial help. We are listeners supported. We don’t have any other means of support and we trust God every day to take care of our needs. And you know, miraculously, he’s done that. We just started off with a 15-minute program that we couldn’t afford. Went to a half hour program, which we couldn’t afford.

Went to an hour program that we couldn’t afford. And then we branched out to other cities, which we couldn’t afford. And God has kept us going. And here we are, years later, reaching out even further, because of you and your faithfulness to Bible and God bless you. And if you could give a gift today, would you call in and give that my credit card over the phone? That number is 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Give us a call and we’ll take your call and if you want to leave a question off here you can do that as well.

Don’t forget that this is July coming up and this coming Sunday if you’re in the area We’re gonna have a July 4th picnic At the back of our property we have a wonderful area with picnic tables and Oak trees and shade and we’ll be barbecuing hot dogs and we’ll have hot dogs that apple tie And of course we’ll have hamburgers and potatoes solid big beans and chips and all the things go on with the picnic And if it’s too warm for you, we’ll let you go into our conditioned educational building and eat inside.

But it’s a great family event to celebrate the birthday of our country and during our worship service, we’ll also be celebrating that. That’s this Sunday coming up July 6th. We’ll celebrate July 4th. We’re going to Miami. We’re going to talk to Bert and Bert. Welcome to Bibleline. You are on the air. Good morning, Pastor Hank. Good morning, Bert. I was reading through the book of Acts, and I come across Acts 8, 14, or 17, which is still troubling to me.

Every time I get to that section, it still bothers me. I had picked up the book from your resources, The Holy Spirit by Charles Wirey, which is an excellent book. I recommend it to everyone. I read that on page one of one of his books that he seems to think, as his opinion, that there was definitely a delay in this one particular instance of the given of the spirit to the Samaritans. And he states that they genuinely believe that the Holy Spirit wasn’t given to them immediately.

And I believe that the Holy Spirit is given to all believers. And I believe that the reason why the way are in giving the spirit, the state nearly church from having two mother churches, one in Jerusalem, one in summary. And I preserve the unity of the church in this early stage and my question is, I had asked you this, I believe last year and your opinion was that they really genuinely did not believe. And that’s why they didn’t receive the Holy Spirit.

Do you disagree with Charles Larger? I respect him a lot. I like… I like Dr. Charles Riley. He’s one of my favorite authors. But I believe that in a careful reading here, these people were not saved. Romans 8 and 9 says if you don’t have the Holy Spirit you’re not saved and if you read carefully what it says in verse 12 They believed Philip they didn’t Believe on Christ as their Savior. There’s a difference what happened here is that they had a man there named Simon Who was a sorcerer and he could do all kinds of miraculous things Paul rather?

We have here Philip coming along and he is able to do greater miracles than Simon the sorcerer and so now all of a sudden they turn away from Simon and they are followers of Philip But it doesn’t say that they trusted Christ They believed Philip and I think that’s the mistake when Peter and John got there They discerned that they hadn’t received the Holy Spirit where they were not saved I believe they lead him to Christ and then they received the Holy Spirit when they get saved finally here in this passage.

Then the other thing is that, and it was a big mistake for Philip the Baptist, and of course, so, because they weren’t genuinely believers. That is great. And the other thing is, I see the term, lend hands on, in the Bible a lot, and it’s used in this particular section of the book and John laid hands, and then they received the Holy Spirit. and also really because the one there. Apprehended. Some of the disciples were apprehended. They also used the term laying hands.

What is this? Have you done any research on the term laying hands? It just happens to be. You know, in the Middle East, they are much more, you know, comfortable to come up and just, you know, kind of wrap their arms around you. And then we are here. But I think that’s what was going on here. They gather the script together. They probably put their hands on the ground. their shoulders and they explained the gospel and as they explained it these people believed it and they got saved and it’s saved on the hands were on them.

What is being pointed out here is that Simon looked at that and he saw it and took it that the laying on of hands was the means by which imparting the gift and he wanted to buy that power. He was a magician and he thought that this was some kind of a special power designated by the laying on of hands. I don’t think the laying on hands had nothing to do with it at all. It just happened to be something that was occurring at the same time.

I’d liken it to if somebody came that was unsaved into my worship service and somebody on the third row in my church on a Sunday morning got saved, they might have assumed wrongly that people on the third row get saved. So if you want to get saved, sit on the third row and then maybe you better sit near the aisle And maybe you better be sitting up straight and you could imagine and read all kinds of things into it.

Has nothing to do with the person sitting on the third row. It has to do with their hearing and understanding the gospel and trusting Christ and Savior. So the fact that they have the hands and they laid hands on them doesn’t have a thing to do with it. Later when they ordained elders and deacons they laid hands on those individuals to designate by the hand the one they were talking about. And so they were saying this is the one that we are ordaining as an elder or deacon.

But it didn’t impart any powers. D.L. Moody always had a way of making things simple. He said the laying on of hands is simply empty hands laid on empty heads. And I’ve enjoyed reading that from my… Yeah, you know, it’s funny you should mention D.L. Moody because I was reading a little pamphlet they gave me and uh… he also believe that uh… uh… in reading some of his stuff that empowerment of the holy spirit and the gift in the empowerment is a subsequent thing uh…

i don’t know if you’ve read that about the old movie too of course and you disagree with that right you you receive the whole spirit the moment of belief yeah that’s it that’s uh… it’s actually a lot of people and they don’t have to lay hands on you to empower you or or receive search of his not believe that uh… deal moody along with our authority and believe that that was a subsequent thing to you with receiving uh… the holy spirit that later on if people would lay hands on you and play over you you it would come upon you and would empower you and which i don’t i don’t see that in the bible no i don’t either but it’s been good to talk to you thank you but it’s a good question All right.

That was in Miami and the people next chapter eight in Samaria were saved after Peter John got there and I think actually led them to Christ. We’re gonna go down to Tom in Tampa and Tom welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, you are. We’re gonna go down to Tom in Tampa. Well, I’d like to appreciate if you would come in briefly on that incident where I’m Miriam and Aaron got into trouble about criticizing Moses about a marriage.

It seemed to be someone called early about Moses having another wife or something. I may be mistaken, but can you come in on that problem they ran in, too? Well, you know, Aaron and Miriam didn’t always do things by the book. by the book and we know Aaron of course is the one that made the golden calf. He’s the one that misled the whole nation there while Moses went up into the Mount to get the Ten Commandments. So obviously they needed to be rebuked for their misdirecting everybody.

They took the place of leadership upon themselves and they misdirected the people rather than leading them correctly. So you really have to stay on top of everything is a believer you have to be in line with the Bible or you could fall into the same error that Aaron did and I I really feel that today a lot of our The first phrase in worship is of that nature. When we look at the Bible, there is no place anywhere in the Bible for the office of a present worship leader.

But apparently Aaron was the first present worship leader. When Moses went up in the mountain, they were singing, they were dancing. And he also then misled them in spiritual worship into worshiping and idle. I think that’s what happens with the present worship today. leads people away from the Bible. Show me praise and worship in the book of Acts in the early church. I don’t see it at all. It says they, the believers of that day in Acts 2.42, continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine.

They were into the Word of God and that’s why they were strong. That’s why they were effective. And I think that’s what’s happening there with Aaron and Miriam. They were oftentimes acting on their own apart from God. We’re now going to go to Maggie and she is in Braden, Florida and Maggie, welcome to the Bible on your own ear. Hello. Hi Maggie. Yes, a group of widowed ladies would like to know if a Christian would kill someone in a self-defense.

What would Jesus do beyond this? Would it be a sin? Well, you know, if you kill someone in the self-defense, that in the Bible is described as justifiable homicide. There is no penalty against you at all. It’s justifiable. You’re allowed to defend yourself. And in the Old Testament it talks about it, intruder may be coming into your house. And in the ensuing struggle to protect your family or yourself or your own life, the intruder is killed. It says there is no penalty at all.

And that’s still true today. And our judicial laws, many of them came right out of the Bible. And so if someone were to come into your house and in the pursuit of Protecting your family and yourself that intruder is killed you’re not going to go to jail for that That we live alone, you know, yeah, well you can protect yourself Maggie and of course Trust that God is watching over you and and ask for his protecting hand to be upon you Well, I do that all the time and so far I’ve been okay that I was broken into one time.

So we should ask. Amen. That’s a scary thing because when you finalize someone’s life it’s an awful thing. It is and certainly we shouldn’t seek to do that but in some cases you might have to defend yourself and it could happen. Okay. Thank you very much. Thank you Maggie. And that was Maggie and a number of older widowed women that are living alone and are concerned about their safety. We now are going to Joan and she’s in Seminole, Florida.

Joan, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Hello, Brother. Thanks, Jim. My husband and I have been listening to you quite a while. We enjoy you very much. Thank you. And I have a question. In the Bible, is there anywhere that refers to where the older people not keep their jobs and then let the younger ones do the work of the church? I know no place where it says that at all. No, I think I don’t know if a place at all where that would be true.

I’ve heard of churches that do this and I was really wondering. Well, the Rick Warren movement tries to get rid of the older folks. Yeah, I get them out and clean them out and get rid of them. I think they’re an asset. And I know even Rick Warren calls them the pillars, but then he says, you know what pillars are for? The whole thing’s up. So you got to get rid of them. So he puts a who spin on what a pillar is and they want to get rid of the pillars.

Peter James and John were called the pillars of the early Christian church. And if you’d have got rid of those three guys, you would have really done a great deal of damage to the early Christian church. You don’t want to get rid of the pillars. These are people of wisdom and experience. And that’s why elders are often called elders because they’re older, experienced. And the Bible warns about electing leadership that are novices, that are new. The Bible teaches the opposite.

You don’t really want to get some brand new whippersnapper in there that hasn’t had experience or wisdom or walk with the Lord for many years. You want to get somebody who’s been a Christian for quite a few years and that wisdom of experience and time and the Word of God and with God will bring a steadiness to the church and good spiritual direction. Well, this is what I thought, but I’ve heard that churches do do this and I just want to ask you, I enjoy your answer.

Thank you very much. We just had a deacon visit us. He was being demoted and kicked out of his church because they’re trying to get rid of the pillars of the church. It’s all a part of the Rick Warren purpose driven church, which I believe is destroying churches, not building churches. I think it’s not scripture. We have two books that are really powerful. One is called a seat on purpose about the Rick war movement. Another one who’s driving the purpose driven church.

Both of these books are just eye openers about what’s going on with the purpose driven church. movement and Rick Warren I think you probably want to get those books if you’re dealing with those kind of issues in your church or you have friends that are dealing with that. We’re gonna go to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and we have on the line we have Eric and Eric is in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Eric welcome to Bible on your on the air. Hey hello how you doing?

Good. I was calling because I spoke But you’re on Friday or Saturday morning I think it was. Well I got booted out after the whole day I didn’t have enough money to cover the rest. But anyway my question is I’m trying to hear from God. I really am trying to hear his voice for myself. How do I go about doing that? I’ve been reading and praying. Well you have to be patient. God speaks to you through the Bible and it’s not how much Bible you read but you take time to really drink in what it really says.

I recommend when you approach the Bible, just go phrase by phrase and ask yourself, what does that phrase mean? What does it say? Even in John 3 16, for God so loved the world. And who is God? This is the Creator, the God of the universe, the God of created the planet Earth and the heavens and the created man here on the planet. And he so loved the human race that he gave his only begotten son. You just take it phrase by phrase and all of a sudden everything becomes alive to you and God speaks to you through His Word.

So it’s important to just take time and saturate yourself. It doesn’t happen overnight. It usually doesn’t happen in a day or a week sometimes. Be patient and stay in the Word of God and you’ll find that God will direct your path through His Word. And especially if you memorize God can then talk to you at day or night, even in your dreams. God can talk to you through His Word if you put it to memory. And I’m so glad I started a long time ago memorizing Scripture because it’s been such a blessing to me.

And it seemed like hard and something that was work when I first began to do it. But it really has been one of the greatest things I’ve done for myself is to memorize the Word of God. Well, you need to be careful about fasting and there’s nothing magic here. You just don’t want to study your Bible on a full stomach. So, you know, don’t go and just not take any fluids in, especially. You’ve got to take fluids in and some kind of sustenance, but you don’t want to do that because of the medical problems it can follow.

careful. Sometimes if you’re going to do a longer fast, like of three days or something, or longer you need to maybe review that with your doctor, especially depending on what age you are. But I’d be careful. The Bible talks about fasting and generally, well, everybody fast. When you go to bed at night, the first meal you have in the morning is called break fast, breakfast. So we all fast every day whether you realize it or not. Generally before you eat breakfast or anything all the time your mind is clearer Although you may be still waking up But you have a clearer mind when an empty stomach than you do on a full stomach That’s the bottom line.

Thank you Rick, and we’ll be praying for you We’re now going to go to Christine and she’s in Denver, Colorado and Christine welcome to by one you are on the air Yes, I have a question What is your opinion of Mars, the Rillow? I have a grandfather who is really into him and when I’ve done my own research he’s kind of scared me. Well he scares me too. I would stay away from that whole movement and if I’m not mistaken I believe he believes you can lose your salvation.

All those that believe that are false teachers because that’s works for salvation. anytime you believe you can lose it it means you have to work to get it or keep it and uh… that’s totally foreign to the scripture i would uh… i would agree with you okay and how did i talk to my grandfather about carrying him away from more well i think you have to maybe uh… get a couple quotes from him best thing you do if you have internet is to go to google And type in his name and say, and type in with a false doctrine or false teachings.

And usually it’ll bring up lots of false teachings about anybody that is a false teacher. There’s a usually a site. So we’ll expose a lot of these things. So that’s what I’d recommend and get some of those quotes and just share them with your dad. Okay. Okay. You’re welcome. All right, that’s Christine in Denver, Colorado. We have Tony in Richmond, Virginia, and Tony. Welcome to Bibleline, and you’re on the air. Dr. Lynch, from I had two questions, and come to the caller in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I now have three.

Ready, let’s go. Number one, if I never read my Bible, I’m inferring that if I didn’t read my Bible and didn’t memorize scripture that, I’m probably not going to be hearing from God. Is that correct? Yes? Yes, no? You’ve got a pretty good, you’re not going to get much anyway. people who keep the bible on the shelf or zippered up are really letting God talk to them we talk to God through prayer he speaks to us through his words so few keep your bible uh…

on the shelf you’re not allowing god to talk to you okay understand number two does god still operate or not operate or as far as the whole testament new testament am i correct in the understanding that he does not operate like he did in the old testament anymore And my second question, and I’ll hang up and listen to it, is, the Lord created as far as creation is concerned, in the beginning, creates a life. And I wasn’t created like in my mother’s womb, I was put in the seed, which, and so it’s like a continuation of itself is just procreating because the seed of things are in themselves, type of the thing.

Can you explain that to me and the lowest operate the same? Alright, those are interesting questions. You know, God always is the same. He doesn’t change, but he has different ages in the Bible, or what we call dispensations, which during that time, God is testing men in regard to certain things that he has revealed. We are right now in an age which is the church age, which is primarily a Gentile age when God is using us as his witnesses.

So he is not using the nation of Israel today, but he will and I think we are very close to when he will go back and use Israel as his witnessing nation to the world. And that will be right after the rapture. But otherwise salvation has always been the same. God’s Holy Spirit has always convicted the loss of a need of a Savior. He saves everybody by grace without works. Most of those things are absolutely the same. They don’t change at all.

Tony, you can rest assured that you can go to the Old Testament and find many wonderful truths that are still true for us today. The fact that you’re saved by faith, the fact that you’ll never be lost, the fact that God wants to guide your footsteps through the Bible that the Bible is the means by which God speaks to us even to this very day and the Psalms and Proverbs are great books of wisdom and advice for us even to this power are you still there?

He’s already gone and we’re going to now move to Floyd in Dave City Floyd welcome to Bibleline How you doing? Good. I did work in Shirdis now, Haina. Now, most of the wives, she was black and it was in the Bible that she was a black woman and that’s the number the 12th chapter, the first verse. And the real argument was that when you were near them, the area was complaining about it. And that went, God, when it happened to me, and then you were using it.

You’re playing out yet next to 70 years and they don’t, they’re craving, then she got real again. I’ve got to go God bless you. with Shirdis. Okay. And Numbers 12.1 says she was an Ethiopian woman, which possibly could mean black, it doesn’t say black in the scripture, but that’s very possible. But she was not a spiritual woman and we find that she was obviously working against Moses and against God. As you see the book of Exodus opened up. We have got to run.

By the way, we pray that if you haven’t trusted Christ as your Savior, that you would just say, Lord, I am a sinner.

I don’t understand much about the Bible. But I trust Jesus Christ right now as the one who died and shed his blood to pay for my sins in full was buried and rose again from the dead. I trust him right now to save me. The moment you do, God, I’m going to have it save you. And then once you’ve done that, you’re saved forever. And whenever you die, you’ll be absent from the body, present with the Lord. And if you’re alive, when Christ returns, you’ll be raptured up to meet Him in the air.
