Bibleline Radio Show – 2006-07-11 – Affirmation of Belief

The sole condition for receiving eternal salvation from hell is faith (trust) in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died a substitutionary death on the cross for man’s sin and rose from the dead. No act of obedience, preceding or following faith in the Lord Jesus Christ may be added to, or considered as a part of, faith as a condition for receiving eternal salvation.

We have a number of people that are waiting to get on the air and we would hope that you’ll call.

If you have a question or a comment, we’ll try to take your question here on the air. I think I’m going to go first though right to Rick right now. He’s in Orlando listening right now. We’ll go ahead and go to Rick first. Rick, welcome to Bibleline. Thank you very much. I love your show. I listen to it every day. Are you listening on one station? 1310 a.m. Is that out of the land, Florida? Yes, sir. Okay. Wonderful. I’m glad you’re able to hear it over there in Orlando.

Well, thank you for taking my call. Dr. I’m a Catholic and practicing Catholic. And I’ve always had a, I guess my question is concerning the, what we can say, We call the sacrament of reconciliation. Question is, I believe I read in the Bible where old will be held against them and forgive me for not knowing the exact words on that. Right. He’s ever since you remit, they remitted unto them and he’s ever since you retain their retain. That’s in John’s Gospel, Chapter 20, right after the resurrection.

But I believe that that is in the power of the message of the gospel that we have and that every believer has that power as we bring the message. It says in Romans 1 16, I am not ashamed the Bible says of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it the gospel is the power of God and the salvation to everyone who believe it. So as we bring the gospel message and a person believes that message of the death of the bear old resurrection of Christ, God saves them and their sins are forgiven.

But if they reject that message then their messages rather their sins are not forgiven. That’s what Peter certainly taught in the book of Acts. You can see Peter telling us in Acts 1043 that through Jesus, whosoever believeth in him shall receive the remission of their sins. When you trust in Christ, your sins are forgiven. It’s not where we have some special power or that Peter did or the apostles or ministers are priests to have that power, but every believer has it in the gospel message, and as many as would believe it, or would trust in Christ, would be saved, and those that would not believe would not be.

Okay, I understand. So it’s not exactly in the power room, like you said, of Peter being, in other words, our Lord giving him the power to forgive sin. Exactly, because you read 1st and 2nd Peter, and Peter there again plainly tells us that It’s only through the precious blood of Christ and only by trusting Him that we become born again and are saved and receive the forgiveness of our sin. So obviously that passage has been misunderstood, which you can see how that can happen.

But no doubt, when you tie the whole Bible together, it’s clear what Peter said later and in the book of Acts, as you see Peter preaching throughout the book of Acts, he He always pointed people to Christ and told them, whosoever believeth in Christ shall receive the remission of their sins. Thank you very much. Well you’re very welcome and keep listening over there in Orlando. We’ll do. Alright. That was from Orlando Florida, listing out of the land Florida. We’re so delighted that the station is carrying all the way down there as it reaches from from St.

Augustine down to Titus film back across the state over to Orlando. Well, I’m just going to go ahead and go to William. We have William in Tampa, Florida, waiting on the line here. William, welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yes, Dr. Linson. I’ve been listening to you for quite some time and have been down to your studio and watched you work. Wonderful. I have a question. If Ash was from the body, his present with the Lord, What happened with Lazarus?

Well, are you talking about the Richmond and the beggar that died with us? The Lazarus that was raised from the dead. Okay. Well, we really don’t know what happened, whether God just let him die another natural death or whether he just took him home to heaven. The Bible doesn’t say so we just have to speculate or just be, keep our miles shut and wait until we get to heaven to find out. It just doesn’t tell us, but no doubt he was raised from the dead and this was the miracle that really did force the religious leadership to make a choice here.

They said if we don’t stop this man the whole world will believe on him. And of course they were worried about losing their power and their authority and they were concerned that everybody would follow Christ and they would be out of a job. But in any case it doesn’t tell us so we just have to wait and see. Thank you so very, very much. You’re welcome. I always like to tell people if we don’t know the answer, that we just have to wait.

There are some things that don’t get answered and we just can speculate about it, but we don’t know whether our speculation is going to be correct or not. We have Frank in Tampa 40 he calls in and says, Balaam was an apostate or a heretic, but the Spirit of God came upon him. Please explain. Well obviously, He was a pro. the prophet of God and he was being tempted as the day like the one who wanted him to preach against Israel, to curse Israel and willing to pay my hands some to do that.

He was tempted to take that money and do that but of course God wouldn’t let him do that. God threatened to take his life if he did and it’s amazing how God used him in spite of is lack of faithfulness there, but Balaam finally gave an incredible prophecy to Berrien, which takes us all the way down to the first and second companies of Christ. It’s quite a remarkable story. But God spoke through him, and God several times had to give Balaam’s attention.

But that again shows the human element of God’s prophets. David was a prophet and yet he sinned and the Bible doesn’t hide his sin of murder and killing Uriah the husband of Bathsheba and his adult-earth relationship with Bathsheba and so on and so on. We see that throughout the Bible so there is a human element. I believe that Peter, one of the greatest of the apostles I believe, but several times was out of order. In fact in the book of Galatians chapter 2 Paul addresses Peter to his face and says that he was being a hypocrite because he acted one way with a Jewish audience and in another way with a Gentile audience because he just wanted to please people.

And Paul says that he had to withstand Peter to his face and call him on the carpet for that. We find even the apostles weren’t flawless, but they also were human and had a human nature just like us. And that’s admitted all the way through the book of Acts when you see in some instances when they did a miracle that people wanted to worship them and they denied worship and they said, hey, we’re men of like passages just like you.

And of course the Bible doesn’t hide their failures but shows the humaneness of these apostles. So hopefully that helps Frank. Baelem certainly was tempted by money. And the Bible warns about that over in the book of Jude that we don’t fall into that trap as preachers of the gospel that we don’t follow the money trail but we follow the gospel trail and the Word of God and are true to God’s Word and God will take care of the money.

Alright, we’re going to go down to John in Seminole Florida and John welcome to Bible and you’re on the air. Good morning, Dr. Winston. This is a relation series and do you think that Martin Luther’s nailing of his thesis on the church in Woodenburg on October 31st has any significance with Jesus being nailed to the cross but more than likely October 31st? well i don’t think crisis the older the cross on October thirty first he was uh… he was crucified at the time of the pass over which is always in the spring of the year so that would be some time in the art and on on October thirty first all okay as you to mean yeah but uh…

uh… i don’t but i i don’t think there’s a connection might be interesting uh… history but uh… i would make any big jump there but that’s interesting that you bring it up but yeah i think that’s probably was born in october maybe on october thirty first which would be halloween and some people say oh my goodness why halloween well it seems like if it were the birthday of crisis they would want to take it for himself any truly is a good job of taking that making it his day but uh…

i don’t know what to say on that we just i think we’ve got one loan too is a area speculation job i was just thinking about that when i was going through all the things i’ve I’m going to second time and I get to keep picking up things on the second time around through now. That’s me. A lot of people tell me that they listen to these CD series and they learn more each time they go through it. And that’s wonderful.

I’m so glad that you’re being blessed by that. A truly truly am. Trust me. Thank you. Thank you John. That’s a book on a revelation. We did 12 CDs which are available and we have more Bible studies being conducted on revelation where they use the CDs and more people rave about how they’re learning and that they listen to them numerous times and each time they say they learn more and more as they pick up more information. They’re just loaded with information.

So you can give operators a call and you can order any other of those CD series. Plus we have the DVD now, the television series. And we have now one thick one called Volume 1, which has 10 DVDs in it. And that’s over 10 hours of teaching, whether you can actually see my Bible and we cover a particular doctrine. And you might call and ask about what titles are involved in that, but it’s really a a good survey of basic Bible doctrines and my teaching on those on video.

We’re now going to go to an off-air question. We have Rick in North Adams, Maine, who listens in on the station we’re on up in Utica in Albany, New York. He says is an unleavened bread mandatory for the Last Supper and why. I believe if you are going to do it scripturally it would have to be unleavened bread because leaven is a symbol of evil or sin. If you use leavened bread then it destroys the picture or the type.

The bread represents the body of Christ and his body was without sin. He is the sinless Lamb of God who died to pay for the sins of the world. So to use leavened bread would destroy that beautiful picture. Also I think the same thing is true is that we are not to use wine. There is no reference when talking of the Lord’s Supper where wine is used. In every instance it talks about the fresh fruit of the vine which is the grape juice which has not gone through the fermentation process.

And again, that pictures the uncorrupted blood of Christ that his blood was incorruptible, the Bible tells us, that he was sinless not only his body was sinless, but his blood was not corrupted. And if you use wine, you destroy the picture for great choose to become wine. You have to go through the fermentation process, which is a corruptive process, and Christ’s blood was not corrupted. It was sinless, and so I believe if you are going to carry the picture that God wanted us to have in observing the Lord’s Supper, that we would use unleavened bread to speak of the sinless body of Christ, and we would use just the fresh grape juice, which is a picture of the uncoruptible blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

That’s the answer why, and thank you, Rick, for listening up there in Massachusetts. We have Vinny off air calls in from Hudson Florida and he says that God loved the angels before he created men. Obviously he created angels when he created the universe. He brought the universe into being created the angels in numerable. Number of angels but the number of angels has not changed. Not by one. Angels don’t have sex. Angels don’t have children. By the way, angels don’t have wings, and angels are always male in appearance, and there are no female angels, or no baby angels, and we have a lot of misconceptions about angels.

But a third of them followed Satan and are the fallen angels, and they’re the demons that the Bible talks about. And so, but obviously angels were about before he ever created man. So man came along later. Okay, we’re going to go to Ron down in Boca Raton, Florida and Ron will come to Bible in your own the earth. After Hank, good. Just so you know how are you? Good. It’s wonderful the way God is using you and your ministry.

Then as I just know everyone is getting more in depth. Well, thank you, Ron. Question, and I’m going to hang up, have been taught in my life that I’m in remembrance of me, not that any miracle is performed to burn to blood and the that has turned to his body. If you could just give me some scriptural references that are as far as regularity of that and what have you, I appreciate it and God bless you and your minister.

Okay, Ron. The best passage, Ron, is in 1 Corinthians chapter 11 where we have the best detailed presentation where Paul says in verse 23, I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto where we’re, you that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he betrayed took bread. So it was the night of the betrayal and Jesus took bread and when he had given thanks he break it and said take it, this is my body which is broken for you.

This do in remembrance of me. So it’s a memorial service and it’s a command for believers to do this. It doesn’t tell us how often to do it. It says later in verse 26 as often as you do it, which leaves it open as to how many times we do it a year, but the early church apparently did it every week. But you’ll notice when he talks about these elements that on verse 26 he goes on to say it’s for as often as you eat this bread.

So the bread never becomes anything but bread, and the grape juice never becomes anything but grape juice. that the bread represents his body and the grape juice represents his blood that was shed and so it’s symbolic and when we observed the Lord’s Supper were being reminded of, as I said for the earlier caller, of his sinless body that was broken as the soldiers took the spikes and drove them through his hands and through his feet and as they did so blood poured out of those five deadly wounds and of course the last one, the wound of the Spirit into his chest, all the body foods poured out upon the ground and he shed his sinless blood which the grape juice reminds us of and it’s a beautiful reminder.

And the communion part is that we fellowship with the Lord just like that night that disciples were all gathered around Christ and they were lots of conversation as Christ shared with them what would happen on the cross the next day and as they ask questions and as they interact and we can just interact with the Lord and thank him for what he did and be reminded of the greatness of his love and of the greatness of the sacrifice that he offered.

But I would recommend you read 1 Corinthians 11 which is probably the best passage to in one place to get a pretty good picture of what’s going on. And you’ll notice in verse 28 it says, Let a man examine himself and then so let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup. So again, the bread is bread and the juice in the cup is a juice. It doesn’t become anything else. And so that is not true. The transformation of the bread to flesh is certainly not what the Bible teaches at all.

But it still remains bread and the juice remains juice. Thank you for calling out Ron. We now have Alan and allen is calling in from campa allen welcome to bible near Hey, brother, Hank. Really love your program and share it with a lot of people. I’ve got a question. I think I wrote it down correctly about is it true that everyone that’s born into this earth, their name is written into the book of life? I believe. i believe so everybody uh…

in the human race is in the book of life if they die without christ and their name is stricken at death from the book but if what it’s or is it what i would have to ask what about but if you become a believer uh… then it says in revelation three five that god will not bought out your name so we have a Promise from the moment we believe that we’ll never have our name come out of the book.

So for believer you’ll never go to hell It’s really a wonderful eternal security point because once you become a believer your name will never come out of the book of life I love that and I shared that with people, but I’ve got to, and I don’t go around looking for verses to counter dig this, but I was in, I think it was for sermon or passagave Sunday, and if you would, look at Revelations chapter 17 verse 8. It’s got me a little perplexed.

In Revelation 17, it says, the beast. That thou saw us and is not and shall ascend out of the bonless pit and go into into perdition. Here it is. And they that dwell on the earth shall wonder whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world. But the key word here is when. And notice it’s the book that is from the foundation of the world. When they behold the beast that’s here cast into predition, which is at the end of the millennium, at that point their names are not in the book.

So the book is from the foundation of the world, but when they are standing at the great white throne judgment at the end of the millennial kingdom in Revelation 20, and they’re observing the beast cast in the hell. So the time word is so important, I’ve got the word when in verse 8 circled because it’s when they behold him as he’s cast into the eternal like a fire. At that point, these are people that have lived their lives and have died without Christ and their names are stricken.

And so their names are not in this book, which the book was prepared before the foundation of the world. But their names have been erased already. They’ve been blotted out because they were unbelievers. and their names are not found there at that particular point. So the key is a time word. Isn’t that exciting? I mean the Bible is really amazing book because these verses all resolve themselves when you look at them very carefully and I’m always looking for time words because all the nuns that’s the key to the interpretation.

Yeah only you could answer that because I was thinking this you know what would be the answer to this. That’s why I tell people I’m not time stroke and not going to you know try to get you to send any money up but I tell people to listen to this guy he’s the best bio teacher I’ve ever heard and that’s the reason right there because I was thinking okay says here whose names were not written in the book that makes sense make sense.

Thank you. We got a good break. Thank you Alan and we’ll be right back after this short break. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well, I’m Dr. Englund. This is Sherman. It’s great to be with you. And we’re excited about what’s happening here. We’re having some classes begin tonight on Tuesday nights for five weeks from 7 till 9 o’clock beginning tonight, July 11. And we’re going to teach first and second Thessalonians.

Now, if you’re driving distance, we certainly want you to attend the class. If you’re not in driving distance, then you might want to order this series. This is such a wonderful two books in the New Testament to cover not only salvation but the Christian life, our responsibilities in the Christian life, covers the doctrines of election, predestination, the rapture, the tribulation period, the return of Christ at the rapture, then the second coming, the rise of the Antichrist, the building of the third temple, and just absolutely amazing couple of books.

But we’re going to be covering those in ten hours of teaching. They will be available for you on CD and also along with the many other sets that we’ve got available. We have the book of Jude, the book of Romans, the book of Hebrews, the book of Revelation that a previous caller had mentioned and Daniel and that’s really, really dynamite stuff. Okay, we’re just excited about that and hope you’ll be a part of it. By the way, if you’re in South Florida, you can watch our TV program out of West Palm tonight at 8.30 tonight on Channel 61 on cable. On cable, I think it’s Channel 13 down there in South Florida.

Well, thank you again for those who give to Bibleline and we are expanding outward. We’re now streaming our television programs on the internet. All these things cost money and we are trusting God and we are doing things that we really don’t have the funds to afford to do but we are trusting God through our audience that he’ll supply. So maybe the Lord is speaking to you about giving the Bible and we are really again it’s not about trying to get your money.

We really want to get the gospel out. We believe time is running out. Are you aware that Japan now is threatening a preemptive strike against North Korea? Boy, when the Bible talks about wars and rumors of wars, are you believing these things that you are reading about in your headlines and the threat of nuclear war and curable diseases and all kinds of problems out there in this world? I think Jesus is coming very soon. This is the time for Christians to wake up and get moving and invest their time and their accounts and your treasures for things that are eternal.

And Bible and could really be a means by which you could extend yourself to get this gospel out to a world that so desperately needs to hear about Jesus Christ. Well, we’re going to go to Richmond, Virginia now. We have Wilburn up there in Richmond and Wilburn. Welcome to Bibleline. Good morning. God commanded Jesus to die and the Bible says, did you use kill Jesus? And my question is, should a Jewish person living today feel stigmatized? Right, that’s a good question.

Of course, two aspects of it. Peter covers that in Acts 2, verses 21 through 24, where he says that God, by the Determinate Council and Four Knowledge of God, Christ was crucified. So God had planned this and Christ came as a part of God’s plan that was planned before the foundation of the world, how he would redeem mankind. Yet on the other hand, man has responsibility. And Peter says, you have taken by your wicked hands and of crucified and slain him.

And God of course is raising back up from the dead. But we are all responsible for the death of Christ. And so whether you are Jew or Gentile, we are all responsible. I don’t think the Jews have to take the full heat for that. But I am responsible, you are responsible. And so is everybody who has ever lived because Christ died for all of mankind. So that’s the answer and certainly Jews don’t have to feel as some have called them Christ killers that they’re solely responsible.

We’re all Christ killers because Christ died for all of us. By the way, for you folks up there in Richmond, Virginia, we might and we’re considering this moving over to 990 on the AM Dial WLEE Joy Radio 990. make that in mind because we’re working on that. So in this program, apparently, the BBK-1380 is going to become a Spanish program format where everything will be in Spanish. And so we don’t fit that bill. So we might move over to 990.

Make a note of that so you can look for us because next week sometime we’re going to be off of the BBK and you might look for us on 990 on your AM dial. We now are going to David in Cethner, Florida. And I think David is here. David, welcome to Bibleline, and you’re on near. Are you there, David? I think that’s the wrong line. Let’s see if David is here. David, are you there? Oh, I got a dial tone.

So I don’t know where David went. We have a question here for Mary in Cethner, Florida. and she asked about Psalms 26, verses four and five. It says here, I have not sat with vain persons. Neither will I go in with December’s. I have hated the congregation of evil doers and will not sit with the wicked. The whole point is, is that we as believers are not to fellowship with unbelievers. And so David is saying that he avoided hanging out with those that were vain or evil doers.

And the first song is a beautiful song about that. It says, blessed is the man to walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly. So obviously we need to separate ourselves. And so Mary, I hope that helps. It basically is saying that we also try to reach anybody that’s lost no matter how evil they might be. But that’s not the people I hang out with. So people that curse God and hate God and their lifestyles reveal that they don’t have anything to do with God, I’ll witness to them and try to live in the Christ.

But that’s not the gang I want to have over for dinner at night and spend my time with. I want to spend time with people who love the Lord and I like to worship with people who love the Lord. And so I don’t go into a place where they obviously have abandoned God. Okay, we’re now going to go to David in Sessner and David, welcome to Bible Anum. How are you doing? Good. Yes, I want to ask a question about what does it say in the Bible about that you have to you know, and I want it to be safe to have to do works.

Well, there’s no place in the Bible, David, where it says you have to do works. In fact, Romans 4, 5 says, but to him that work if not, He didn’t work if not, but believe it on Christ who justifies you in Godly, his faith in Christ is counted for righteousness for that person. And Ephesians 2, 8 and 9 talk about salvation not being of yourself and not being of works, lest any man should boast. And on and on and on we could quote verses, but salvation has nothing to do with our works.

Is that what you’re asking? Yes, because I know about that, but I was talking to his guy, he’s an upto-costal movement and he believes you can lose your salvation. And this morning one of my whole work just gave me one of your CDs of how permanent your salvation. So hopefully that’ll work. You know, the Holy Spirit, you know. Yes, that’s a good CD. We have how it’s called, how permanent your salvation. That has been so used of God to clarify it for people, to just make them and connect the dots and realize if they believe they can lose it, then they’re really saying that how they live their life between now and when they die determines their salvation and that means that they’re the Savior, not Christ, and that’s their works and how they behave and how they live their life that ultimately determines whether they make heaven or not

and that’s certainly not true. But David, that CD will give you a bunch of verses why it’s not of works and a lot of people are trusting in Jesus plus their works to get them to heaven and that doesn’t work. You have to come to the place where you realize that you’re lost like the dying thief on the cross, that you’re unable to save yourself and simply trust Jesus as the one who made the total and complete payment for your sin and then God saves you.

Amen, Amen to that. Yeah, I used to go to your church and I used to believe like that. I used to be in a Pentecostal church until I started hearing you on the radio and then I started going up to your church for a while and I and I and I really convinced me that you know, not just your saying it but your scripture that that that that is the truth, you know. Well, that’s wonderful, David. And I’m glad you’re working on other people with this wonderful gospel message.

Okay. Thank you. All right. Thank you. Bye bye. That was David in Sefner, Florida, which is out east of Tampa, Florida. We have Steven in Petersburg up there in Virginia and Steven, welcome to Bibleline. Yes, hi. How are you doing, Dr. Hank? All right. Let’s see it coming here. You’re telling me about, and you have to give us advice here because we don’t know, but we’re losing the 1380 BDK. It’s going to come a station. It’s all Spanish. Can you hear us on the gesture?

Yes. I just listened to you on 820 and you come on 820, obviously live from 10 to 11 and 820 is I would have to say the premier in this area. It has a very, very broad bandwidth. Well that’s wonderful. I’m looking at a little map here in Petersburg where you’re listening from his way down south of Richmond. That’s right. And if you’re able to hear us well there, so I’m excited about that. Yeah, yeah, it’s great. I try and listen to you every day.

Well, that’s beautiful. Thank you for, because, you know, you would know and I don’t know and I’m counting on people to help us out here. So we want to make sure that our listeners are able to continue to hear us and I’m glad you’re able to hear as well on 8.20. Yeah. Well, great. Thank you for letting us know that. You’re welcome. All right. Thank you. That was Stephen letting us know about the reception of the other station one.

Now going to Dave in Brandon Florida and Dave welcome to Bibleline you’re on the air. Yeah, good morning, Dr. Hank. Dr. Hank, I went and visited church with some friends of mine this past Sunday. I just took strong exception to saying it was a kind of a new one on me and he went to a great lake to say he wasn’t preaching. And since in that lord of your life of the first in a new testament, you know, the new man was the old man, all the reasons, and we victory.

Paul DeMalle up and this slogan making Jesus the Lord your life is a second decision I think the strong exception to it well obviously Together for and took it up to him. I said, you know, I offer this I receive it, but you just wrong headed it what’s playing well, you know the the message of Solvation by faith alone and no works and then the message of worship salvation one of them has to be wrong because they both can’t be right.

And it’s obvious that the Christian life involves our works and our commitment to live for Christ, but salvation has nothing to do with our works at all and is something that’s completely been purchased by Christ’s death. And when we trust Him, we receive it as a gift. And if we had to do something to get it, it wouldn’t be a gift because we would actually be earning it or buying it or getting it based upon our merit or what we have done to earn it or deserve it.

That’s something that every believer, that’s a fundamental area where we need to rightly divide the word of truth, the difference between being saved and then the Christian life that follows. I know. I agree with all of that, but see, this particular cake in lordship, where we’re saved in the safety of salvation by faith, but we are continued and sanctification by faith, by relying on the power of the Holy Spirit. He had carried this lordship over into daily experience or sanctification, giving Jesus mission to be the emp-bye-room.

Well, obviously, he’s messing up big time because the Christian life truly is we are to have practical syndication in our lives but that has to do with the Christian life and has to do with rewards and has to with blessings but has nothing to do with our salvation. This is daily sanctification. I hear this all the time and when I got saved I was just amazed at how much bad teaching was out there and I think that’s what the Bible said would happen in the last days and the first Timothy, 2 Timothy, 2 and 3, and says they would not in the last days endure sound doctrine, but they would turn away their ears from the truth and be turned on to fables or lies.

I see it happening every day and you’re not the first person who tellscision stories like this. It’s unfortunate. I know beneath it, and with a Bible, and understand it makes a great slogan when you say Lord of Lords and King of Kings and Lord of Kings of the Salvation. But the English that lies below that is God of God and rule of rulers and that applies to Israel and the Gentile nations of the future earth purposes. And in a time I pardon King and Jesus that’s not a family relationship.

You know when I think of all this I think about you know if a medical doctor malpractices the person that is physically, but when a preacher malpractices, the person goes to hell forever. I think a lot of preachers are malpracticing. That’s scary. The medical doctor, you die and that’s the end of your physical life, but the preacher malpractices and you go to hell because if he doesn’t get it right, then the person listening to him gets it wrong and doesn’t get saved because if you’re trusting in your works as the part of your salvation you’re not going to be saved and that’s why this is such a vital truth that you’re bringing up here that you can’t mix it all up.

You can’t cool mingle it all up. That’s exactly right. The only remedy is like a mile. I think our car is breaking up here with your cell phone but Dave thank you for the call. I think we better move on because the call is breaking up. We’re We’re going to go to Adam in Tampa and Adam, welcome to Bibleline. Yes, Dr. Hank, I have a question. It’s in Romans 8. All right. Living through the Spirit. I came to verse 16 where the Spirit themselves testifies with our Spirit.

Can you help me out with that a little bit? All right. In verse 16 it says the Spirit, it should read. should read himself the Holy Spirit is God the third member of the Trinity it’s not a force or an it but it’s wrongly translated in King James it should read the spirit himself bear with us with our spirit excuse me that we are the children of God and the The Holy Spirit is of course the one who is the author of the Bible.

He is the only spirit in our body. He witnesses out of the scripture to us and confirms the fact that we are truly his and were saved and gives us assurance because we are reading his word and he confirms it to us. The reason why I know I am saved is because the Bible says so. The Holy Spirit is the author of the Bible. As I read the Bible, the Holy Spirit is witnessing to my spirit. Good. that I am indeed his child and that’s really what it’s all about.

So is our spirit separate from the Holy Spirit? I mean the Holy Spirit is in the spirit that live in. That’s exactly right. We’re made of, each one of us are made body, soul and spirit. And so your spirit is witnessed to by God the Holy Spirit. And so there are two spirits in your body. The Holy Spirit dwells within our body and your spirit is there. there and he speaks to our spirit and witnesses to us. Okay, that makes sense.

One more question. Sure. Okay. It’s an, um, well, the Hebrews, I understand you’re, it’s a one. Well, you know, Hebrew chapter six versus four through six is talking about the, um, change of mind that occurs when you get saved. The Greek word for repent is meta noia, which means change of mind. And when you trust Christ, you do change your mind about what you were previously trusting into now trusting Christ as your only hope of reaching heaven and He saved you.

If you sin, you don’t go back and try to become saved again, but you need to deal with the issues of the Christian life now and move forward and live for Christ and of course try to not sin by taking advantage of the power of the Holy Spirit in your life to be able have victory ever sin in your life. But the Christian is obviously going to be convicted about the sins in his life, but he can also harden his heart where he’s not listening to the Lord anymore.

And if you read Hebrews chapter three, it talks about those people that came out of Egypt and how they provoked the Lord and they hardened their heart. And God said, Okay, well, you’re not going to enter into the Promised Land, which is not a picture of heaven, but it’s a picture of the Christian’s victory in this life. They wondered 40 years in the wilderness till they all died. It was not until after they died, after the 40 years were over, that the next generation, those that were under 20, actually entered into the Promised Land under Joshua.

He’s warning Christians that they’re take heed, lest this evil heart of unbelief as a Christian be in you as it was in those in the day of provocation when they provoked the Lord in the God said, okay, you’re not going to enter into the Promised Land. You’re just going to wander around in this wilderness till you drop dead and then I’m going to move on with the next generation. And so that’s what it’s really talking about. So the Christian needs to wake up and realize that we’re going to lose out on the victories and the blessings and the joy and the rewards that can be ours if we don’t live for the Lord every day.

And if we don’t, then we suffer the loss of reward and the loss of joy and the loss of effect We miss that on God’s will and we just kind of waste this life and when we get to heaven we’ll have no rewards or very little rewards whereas we could not only have blessings here but we could have rewards in heaven if we’re only faithfully serving Him. So the Christian has to make choices every day when you get up.

What can I do today to live for Christ and please Him and we need to move on our whole day based on how can I make God happy today. Thank you and that was Adam in Tampa, Florida and we have now Steven in Petersburg. Okay, Steven, welcome to wait a minute here. I think I got the wrong line here on that one. Oh, I lost him. Where is he there? Oh, that was him. I was. Okay. I hit the wrong one.

What do we have now? Let’s see here if I go back and I have Dale I guess in Palm Harbor. Dale? Yeah, Dr. Hank, thanks for taking my call. I really appreciate your show. You talk about salvation through grace and not through works and I guess my question is that probably you’ll have to possibly expand on this tomorrow. Those people that are following a false doctrine, those religions and I’m speaking primarily of the Catholic faith here. Is it fair to assume that they are not true?

are truly born again saved or where do we draw the line and I’d like to hang up the phone and listen to your answer to that. Okay. Obviously if they’re trusting in their works they are not saved and there’s a lot of folks that are religious but are not saved and they’re trusting in their works and I’m afraid that if the Roman Catholic believes what the Roman Catholic Church teaches about Solace and then they will not be saved but I believe there are many wonderful dear people in the Roman having church that in spite of what the church has taught have just trusted Christ alone as their Savior and are saved are going to be in heaven with us.

But it’s scary because if you have loved ones and you’re sitting under the teaching of the church which really teaches works for salvation, then there’s a danger that they may not be saved and you need to really make sure by asking them all the good questions and pointing out the scriptures to them and make sure that they know that it’s Jesus alone that saves. We will have to do more with that tomorrow because we are at the end of the program.

But we are concerned here about everybody’s salvation that people understand that it is the gift of God. There is no works on our part at all involved in being saved. Of course the dying thief is a classic example. He believed in Christ that today you will be with me in Paradise. Hey keep looking up. Jesus is coming.
