Is there a home in heaven? Where do the dead go? Have you ever wondered where you would live after you die? Do you have a new home waiting for you? In one of the most familiar passages in the Bible, Jesus Christ answers these questions.

This sun is message. Right here from Calvary Community Church, the message that I’ll bring, you’ll be able to watch and hear that message delivered right here from our worship service. So I hope you’ll take advantage. We really have gotten the bugs worked out, I think now.
But last week we had people from lots of different parts of the country tell me they did see it. But we had bad sound, we had some things that we had to work out. But I believe we’ve finally gotten over the big hurdles and we’re excited about getting that to a high degree of quality just for you. We’re going to turn to the Bible now to John 14, one of my favorite passages. This is a passage where Christ, the night of the betrayal, shares with his disciples about how he’s going to be betrayed, how he’s going to go to the cross, how he will and he comforts his disciples in John 14 verse 1.
He tells them that evening the night of the betrayal, the night that he goes out to while the soldiers come in the garden and take him away. And he goes through a whole night of interrogation and then brought before Pilate in the morning and crucified the very next day, Christ says to His disciples, Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. These words of comfort have been greatly comforting to many down through the centuries since Christ, but they were actually, were spoken to His disciples to comfort them that night as they were told about how Christ would die on the cross of Calvary the next day.
Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God. Believe also in me. It is not enough to believe in God to go to heaven. You must believe in Christ. You must trust Christ as your Savior. Christ then goes on to say, in my Father’s house, are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for You have a real place. It is not a state of mind. It is a real place.
Hell is a real place. It is not a state of mind. Some have said that heaven and hell are right here and they are what you make of life while you are here on this planet. Well, that might sound nice, but that is not what the Bible teaches. Christ says that my Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. But he says, I go to prepare a place for you, not a state of mind.
Christ would die. He would then be buried. He would then come back again from the dead. He would then show himself alive and teach his disciples for 40 days. And then he would ascend to heaven. And Christ said, I’m going to leave you to go and prepare a place for you. and in my father’s house are many mansions. Did you know I’ve got a mansion? It’s all paid for, and that’s wonderful, isn’t it? Can you imagine telling your friends that?
I think it’s, you know, you might as well do it because it’s true. Every believer has a mansion waiting for them in heaven, most expensive real estate in all the universe, and will have a mansion there prepared for us by the Lord Jesus Christ himself. You can read somewhat more information about that over there in Revelation chapter 21 where it describes the New Jerusalem. This place where our mansions are. But I go to prepare a place for you. Look at verse 3 now in John 14.
Christ said, and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again. Wow, here Christ tells us of his return and he’s talking here about the Rapture where he comes back at the end of this age That began at Pentecost and he comes back to take us up to himself Notice what he says in verse three of John 14. I will come again and Receive you unto myself That where I am there you may be also Also, what a great truth that is.
In other words, Christ will come again at the Rapture, and He says here, receive you unto myself. We know that when Christ shouts, we’ll be caught up to meet the Lord in the air, and from that point on we’ll forever be with the Lord. And here He says that I will receive you unto myself, where I am, there you may be also. And then in verse 6 Jesus says, I am the way, the truth and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father.
But by me. So we find here that Christ is the only way to enter heaven. He is the door, as he said in John chapter 10. He is the bread of life, as he said in John 6. He said, I am the way, the truth and the life here in John 14 verse 6. And here he makes it very plain. No man, no man, no man, comeeth unto the Father but by me. There’s nobody that goes to heaven through Buddha, Muhammad, Confucius, Allah, or any other God or religious leader.
There’s only one way to heaven, and Jesus is that way. Unless you trust Christ as your Savior, you will not make heaven. Unless your family members trust Christ, they will not go to heaven. That’s why it’s so important for us to share that message with our family members. I’ll never forget my sister inviting me to a Bible study when I was 18. That’s when I heard the gospel for the first time. I trusted Christ and received the free gift of everlasting life.
Then my sister and I ganged up on my other brother and my other sister and we got them saved. We led them to Christ. And then the four of us all worked on Mom and Dad and we got them saved. My mom was the toughest. She was the slowest. She was from Missouri, the Show Me State. She would always say, Show Me. And we had to really work hard to prove it to her. But finally, my mom also trusted Christ, my dad trusted Christ.
And then our whole family began to work on the extended family. The other brothers and sisters of my mom and dad, my aunts and uncles, and then my grandparents on both sides. And we began to evangelize. And you know we won most everybody in our family to Christ. And that was a deliberate purpose on the part of our family. It was wonderful to see us team up brothers and sisters, mom and dad working on all of the other relatives.
It got to be known if you were invited over for lunch or dinner on Sunday afternoon on the weekend to the Lindstrom house. out for what they do after dinner is over. They’ll try to talk to you about Jesus Christ. The word got out. Some were pretty cautious about coming over because they knew what was going to happen. But we wanted people to know. We didn’t want to let anyone go to hell. And we all had a game plan.
We really strategized to make sure that we could get our family saved. What about your family? Are they all saved? If they were to die right now, would they go to heaven? What have you done to try to attempt to get them saved? You know, one thing, if you have a good church where the Bible is taught and the message of salvation is proclaimed, you can bring them to church. One thing we have here is a CD that I have produced called How Permanent is Your Salvation?
People buy that all the time to evangelize their family and friends. He has such a great success rate. Generally, if a person hears that CD, they’ll trust the Lord. It really is that good. You might want to order some. My sister up in Ohio just ordered 10 more copies this week. She gives them out all the time and been very successful in leading others to Christ. You see, we’re still teaming up. We’re still working on lost people. We’re still working together and accomplishing this message.
of the Creator’s Commission of Getting This Message Out to the Lost and Dying World. Christ said, I am the way, the truth and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father but by me. You are welcome to call in. I am Dr. Englund from the Bibleline. The phone number is 1-800-576-3771. We have lots of offer questions that have called in, and now we also have a live caller. We have Dave on Plant City. They welcome the Bible and you’re on the air hello Dave you’re there Yeah, I’m here.
I can hardly hear you though. Well, I’m trying hard. I’m gonna haul a little louder. Okay God bless you and your ministry. I’m really thankful for you and what you do and Got a couple of things. I want to ask you today I have a friend and we’ve been talking and he believes in the millennium beat teachers I was wondering if you could give me some script. Alright, well, Philippians 3, 20 and 21 tell us that we as believers are citizens of heaven and that we are waiting for our Savior to come back to Jesus Christ, verse 21, who shall change our vile body that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body.
We’re going to get a body like Christ’s body. We’ll certainly be in a new resurrection flesh body that will keep fresh for all eternity and we’ll be in the prime of life. He’s obviously mistaken. We will come back with Christ in our resurrection bodies. What do we know? Our bodies will be like Christ’s body and His body, they could touch it. He ate in his resurrection body. You see that in Luke 24 where he ate fish and honeycomb that morning when he showed himself on the edge of the Sea of Galilee.
We find that he was recognizable. Certainly they could recognize the wounds that he had from Calvary in his hands and in his feet. handle me in sea for a spirit hath not flesh and bones as you see me have. That’s Luke 24 39. So lots of great verses that we will have a body like Christ’s body that can be touched that is flesh and bone and that is visible and will be able to see each other and recognize each other and enjoy each other in eternity.
I hope that helps a little bit. Is there anything that… Well, certainly in Matthew 25 you have the judgment of the nations right at the end of the tribulation period. And Christ has all the sheep or the saved of the nations on His right side. And He says, come inherit the kingdom which was prepared for you from the foundation of the world. So they’re invited to walk right into that thousand year reign. The Bible tells us that the ones that are left after Christ destroys all unbelievers at the Second Coming will be left to live into or walk into the Millennium.
So certainly they’ll be in their flesh bodies and they’ll have children and their children will have children and that’s where we get all the unsaved. By the time the Millennium is over there will be a huge number of unbelievers that Satan will round up when he’s loose out of that bottom was pitted at the end of the thousand year end of price. That sure helps. I mean he made a man that he knows other people and that they didn’t speak gibberish.
Could you maybe comment on that because we speak in the NU but I just wanted to pass that on to you and see if you could comment on it. Well I hear claims all the time but I totally reject that. The Bible tells us the real gift and nobody today is speaking in the real languages of the day. The Greek word in Acts chapter 2 is dialectos translated language, and it means a specific dialect of a specific language. The purpose for this was to evangelize, and I certainly don’t see anybody evangelizing with their gift of tongues today, leading lost people to Christ.
the Christ. I usually ask the question, how many people have you led to Christ with your gift of tongues? I’ve never gotten any more than zero. Everybody has a big zero. They’re not. And obviously if they had the gift, they’re certainly not then using it or they’re misusing it because they should be evangelizing the loss that says it’s for a sign to those who believe not 1 Corinthians 14, 22. So I don’t believe that is accurate information. I don’t think He’s understanding what the Bible says about that or that he is definitely confused.
One thing about Peristone is that I have two hours of his teachings on tape, how you can lose your salvation. So he doesn’t have the gospel right. He teaches clearly and very strongly and very adamantly and passionately that you can lose your salvation. two hours of his messages on how you can lose it, which also is impossible. That is a serious doctrinal error. He believes you can lose it. Usually those who speak in tongues believe you can lose it and vice versa.
Bad doctrine breeds bad doctrine and that is bad doctrine. All right. Well, thank you. One more quick question. Have you seen a book called 40 Days to Transformation by Richard Mull? Do you know anything about that? No. probably pick off on Rick Warren who had the 40 days of purpose, but I don’t understand this 40 days at all because that’s just, I think, trying to come up with a sales gimmick. The moment you trust the Lord, you’re saved, and in the moment you dedicate your life, that’s when your life is transformed when you choose after you’re saved to serve the Lord.
And dedicate your life, your life, your life changes. That’s when my life changed. The year after I got saved when I dedicated my life, my life was radically transformed as I chose to not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of my mind which comes to the Scriptures. And that’s in Romans 12 1 and 2 and that’s when we’re transformed when we really present our bodies as a living sacrifice and choose to serve the living God.
Well thank you so much, Dr. Hank, and God bless you and your ministry and I appreciate everything. Goodbye. All right Dave, thank you Dave in Plant City and we now have Wilburn and Richmond, Virginia listening today. Wilburn, welcome to Vibeline. Yes sir, good morning, God bless. Good, you’re hearing us live up there today, huh? Yes, it’s sounding great. That’s great. You’ve said before that in Genesis when man is introduced that is the second creation. And so my question is for the first creation did they have any architecture here?
Do you think? Absolutely. And I believe that when the earth was originally created it was created perfect and according to Isaiah 45 18 created inhabited. I believe it was inhabited with plants and animals, dinosaurs and and jelly life and Lucifer who became Satan was the god of this were ruling over all of God’s angels and apparently when God destroyed the earth when Lucifer tried to overthrow heaven he flooded the entire earth the Bible says that darkness was upon the face of the deep Genesis one two but when God brought about the recreation of the earth in the seven days, I believe what is presently the land masses was at one time the bottoms of the oceans.
Today you can go up to Pike’s Peak up above Denver, Colorado, with in the mountains and you’ll see seashells. Why? Because that was once the bottom of the ocean. I’ve been in the Garcia caves in northern Mexico and they’re 4,000 feet above sea level and all of the walls are just covered with seashells, oceanographers said this once was the bottom of the oceans. And so perhaps there is something to the mythology of the lost continent of Atlantis. Perhaps at the bottom of the Atlantic, which was at one time the land surface of the earth in the original creation, there are the remains of angelic cities.
But certainly it is interesting that in Jeremiah 4, when God gives Jeremiah a trip back into the past, and he is actually there and I witness to when God judged the earth, Jeremiah says in Jeremiah 4, I beheld and loathe the earth was without form and void. He saw it exactly as it became in Genesis 1-2, and then he talks about there was no man on the earth, and the cities of the earth were broken down and destroyed at the presence of God.
Well, that hadn’t happened yet, or rather it hasn’t happened at any other time except at that destruction. So I believe maybe there might be the remains today on the bottoms of the oceans of angelic cities. And one day we might get a look at those things when we get our glorified bodies and are with the Lord. So it’s a speculation, but I think pretty much based on scripture that there are cities that were broken down angelic cities that today at the bottoms of the oceans.
Okay, thank you. You’re welcome. That’s Wilburnt up in Richmond, Virginia. And we have Joe in Tampa, Florida calling in, says, please explain, he leaves this question off here, the meaning of 666. Well, I don’t know if anybody really knows all of the ramifications of that, but we We do know that six is the number of man. Man was brought about on the sixth day of the re-creative week. And so I think it is saying three times over the antichrist is just a man.
He’s just a man. He’s just a man. You know, he’s going to claim that he’s God, but he’s just a man. Now, if you remember not too far back, there was that musical, Jesus Christ Superstar, in there there was a song that had a beautiful melody. loved it were Mary Magdalene saying to Jesus and said about him that he was just a man. Now that was wrong. That was blasphemy because Jesus Christ is God and not just a man.
And here the Antichrist will come along and he will proclaim that he’s God and he’s not God but only a man and I think God is saying three times over. He’s just a man. He’s just a man. He’s just a man empowered by Satan. Yes, but the Antichrist is a man. In fact, he’s called in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 and verse 3, the man of sin, the man of sin. He’s not God, although he will proclaim that he’s got a demand to be worshiped.
He’s also called the son of predition or the son of hell. Anyway, we thank you for calling in Joseph. and hopefully that helps. We have lots of all fair questions here and we’ll try to get to as many as we can. I want to remind you that we will leave for Israel March 12, 2007. All that information is on my website, BibleLineMinistries.org or .com. Click on the Bibleline News on the home page and you can pull up the full itinerary in the signup sheet and we need to get a hundred dollar deposit real soon here in the next two or three weeks.
Then 90 days out they want half of your money paid down and 45 days out from departure. They want all of your money paid in and that will secure your airline flights and hotel rooms and everything else to make sure that you are getting in on this trip. I would love to have you go with me as trip number 14 for me and we will have a great time studying the Bible every day. We are going to take a break and come back and do Bible in part 2.
So please keep your radio dial tuned right where it is and we’ll come right back after this short break. Thanks. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771. That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well I’m Dr. Englund Sherman. This is Bible and great to be with you today. Thanks for tuning into the broadcast and we appreciate you, our listeners, because you You are, of course, what makes the program successful. And you’re the ones who keep us on the air because it is your gifts and your prayers that God is blessing to keep Bibleline out there for people to listen to.
We need more monthly contributors. And if you could help by giving a gift to Bibleline, it would be greatly appreciated. We don’t pay any salaries to anybody, myself included. goes right into airtime cost and equipment cost and satellite time and phone calls and all the other things that go into making the broadcast. But otherwise we are getting the maximum for every dollar that is sent in and you might want to invest in ByBlind and help this message get out to the world as we believe that ByBlind is really impacting many, many lives.
We have many pastors that listen to this show that we have them tell us how much it has helped them. We are just humbled by the fact that we are being a blessing to pastors and teachers and lay people. It is people just like you who see this as a valuable tool in reaching our world, Bible line that is, and with your prayers and your gifts we are able to pullALSE. We can send a gift to Bible and by mail or you can give one by credit card over the phone and we pray that you would consider doing that.
One lady this month we’ve mentioned it said I’ve decided to give a dollar a day to Bible and she gave a check for October for $31. If more of you would do that it would really take care of all of our needs. In fact if everybody would just give 50 cents a day that would be about $15 a month. We had a lot of you that would do that. It would just help us take care of all the expenses and keep this program on the air and assure you that you would continue to hear it in your area.
Would you consider doing that? Give our operators a call. They’ll send you an envelope with our address on it or you can give a gift directly by credit card today over the phone. And of course you could also order some of our resources which also is the way that you can help Bibleline stay on the air. God bless you have a great weekend. I hope you have had a church someplace. You can also catch our worship service on the internet.
Go to BibleLineMinistries.org or dot com. Click on the little camera about 11 a.m. Sunday morning Eastern Standard Time. You’ll be able to watch our TV program. Stay tuned now as we rejoin you the stations that have been on break and do the second half of Bibleline and don’t change that now and if you internet you can catch it on the internet as well for the flower Would you like to call Bibleline and ask Dr. Lindstrom a question? You can.
Just pick up your phone and dial 1-800-576-3771. Now here again is Dr. Hank Lindstrom. Alright, we’re from the break, we’re back from the break and we’re, this is Bibleline. I’m Dr. Lindstrom and we’re coming to you live from our studios right here in Tampa, Florida at the Calvary Community Church where I’m the pastor. This, by the way, is the third Sunday coming up this weekend. And we always have that lunch dinner right after church in our educational building. You’re welcome to come be my guest.

And then we’ll have the dinner that we’ll follow. And if I invite you to be a part of that, it’s a great Sunday to come visit because you can make more of a day of it and enjoy us for the dinner. So that’s this Sunday. Also, we’re leaving for Israel. And we are excited about that.
And you can go with us on March 12, 2007, and return on March 23, 2007. That’s leaving on a Monday, coming back 12 days later on a Friday. And we hope that you will. We have a caller from the island of Gran Bahama waiting on a cell phone. And so we’re going to go right to Brian in the Bahamas. and thank you for tuning in Brian you’re on the air Brian you go ahead Brian welcome you’re on the air hello Brian you’re there you’re on the air hello yes you’re on the air good morning Dr.
Lindstrom is one quick question I want to ask you know we don’t normally we do receive your program no more on WLVJ So I’m not hearing you, but I’m calling in for, you know how it is when ministers, when we are partaking of the Lord’s Supper, they would try to make you feel guilty. They would say, well, you’ll have to examine yourself before you take the Lord’s Supper if you’re engaging in any kind of sin. you know and where I’m saying how could that be when there’s no condemnation to those who are in Christ?
Well you’re right as far as our salvation is concerned Brian, there is no condemnation to a believer and you’ll never be condemned and you can be absolutely assured of going to heaven from the moment you believe and it will never be changed or altered or rescinded the moment you trust Christ you’re saved forever. But as far as our walk with the Lord, sin does break our fellowship, not our relationship. Our relationship is eternal brought about by the new birth.
But our fellowship is hindered by sin. So the Lord’s Supper does tell us to examine ourselves. And sometimes sin is a failure to do those things which we ought to do. James says to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin. If you know that you ought to read your Bible every day and you don’t, you’re sinning. If you know that you ought to fellowship with other believers and you’re not, you’re sinning.
If you know that you ought to pray every day and you don’t pray, then you’re sinning and not praying. So it doesn’t mean that you’re necessarily committing murder or robbing banks, but every believer still has sin in their life as they have a sin nature. We truly need to claim that promise in 1 John 1 9 if we believers confess our sins which has to do with the Christian walk God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins having to do with our daily walk.
It’s a daily cleansing then it says and he will cleanse us from all and righteous as he wipes the slate clean. So Brian I hope that helps a little bit. We do. doesn’t our confession is that when we are trusting believe in the dead burial and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ? Well that is of course the confession by which we are saved when we confess that Christ is the only hope we have for heaven. But in our daily life we still have sin.
You know, 1-8, 1-1-8, John the Apostle. You are cutting you off right. But yes, in our daily walk we do stumble and fall. We don’t have to continue to confess it before God because God already Forgivin us a bad right as far as salvation As far as salvation is concerned, you’re right, but as far as our walk we need to confess it It’s has to do with fellowship and intimacy, you know, I was born in my dad’s family and no matter what I did I was still his son, so I didn’t have to do anything.
But you know if I did something like a bar at his car and I’d dinner at it, I needed a confess to him, said that I didn’t mean to, but I sent my back to the car and the garage. And I needed to… that’s good. We don’t come to Christ for forgiveness of our sins. We come to Christ for life. There’s sin issue with dealt with the cross. But Jesus, you may have liked in it. I agree with you.
But the confession is settled at the cross. All the sin issue is settled at the cross. The only sin that we needed to reconcile the God is the sin of unbelief where we have the trust and believe in the finished work of Christ Jesus that he died, he buried and he rose from the dead and through his resurrection that we retain his life. Amen. Well, Brian, I’m in full agreement with you on that, but there are three tenses of our salvation.
If you have a Scofield Bible, it will really help you with this, but there’s the past tense of our salvation where we’re delivered from the penalty and the consequences of sin, and That’s what you’re talking about. And that is through simply the blood of Christ. We trust Him and we’re saved once and for all and forever. There’s the present tense of our salvation where we’re delivered from the power of sin. And that involves a daily walk and confession as we fail and as we sin in our daily walk.
There’s the future tense of our salvation where we’re delivered from the presence of sin. That’s when we’re in heaven and we no longer have a sinful nature. We’re in our glorified bodies and we cannot sin. who were delivered completely from the presence of Zen and live in the presence of the Lord. So you really have to be able to rightly divide and separate between the past tense of salvation, which is settled forever, and that’s what you’ve been talking about.
And the present tense of our salvation where we walk and stumble, just like the Old Testament priest, he was baptized once by complete immersion, which spoke of the salvation, but in his daily service he had to come to that labor and wash his hands and his feet, which were defiled by the dust in the dirt of the day and so that was a picture of a daily walk in a daily cleansing. When you say we walk with Christ, I acknowledge I was considered that Christ died for us so he can give his life to us so he can give his life to us and not we doing anything but Christ living his life to us.
Well, you know, we’re on the same page on that, Brian. I mean as far as salvation is there I don’t have to ask or do anything ever again once I’ve trusted Christ I’m safe forever and my sins are forgotten, forgiven and gone as far as the east is from the west. So is there a condemnation for a leader’s win in one area of the Bible? I can’t put my hand on it because I don’t have the Bible with me.
It’s that there is no condemnation. Romans 8 1 says exactly what you’re saying and that’s exactly true. the other hand, you have to examine yourself because you… The Bible says that, and I think we lost that call that is from the Bahama Islands on a cell phone. Anyway, Brian, I guess we have lost the call so you probably wanted to hear my answer, but in 1 Corinthians 11 talks about Christians being judged, and we are judged in this life when we sin by God chasing us.
When we are judged, we are chasing the reward that we should not be condemned with the world. The Christian also will be judged at the Judgement seat of Christ for reward. In 2 Corinthians 5 and 10, it says we must all appear before the Judgement seat of Christ that everyone may receive the things done in his body according to that which he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Sure do thank you for calling and I am glad that you are still staying in contact with us from the Bahama Islands.
Thank you so much. We have James now in Plant City and James welcome to Bibleline. Turn your radio down James and James in Plant City. Welcome to Bibleline. If you listen to the radio you’re not going to be able to hear me on the phone. So James please turn your radio down. Apparently he’s still listening to the radio. We have off the air Simon in Plant City Florida and Simon says, what does it mean to worship God in spirit and in truth.
And the answer is that we are believers who have God the Holy Spirit coming and dwelling our bodies which become his temple. So our temple is our body which becomes the place of worship. So wherever we go, we can really speak to the Lord and worship him. of course obviously in truth and that is of course In line with what God’s word instructs about worship and about who ourizonter is Jesus Christ who is the truth. All right, we’re gonna try one more time for James now.
Let’s see if we have James in plant city James. Are you there? Yes, I am. Well, good morning. How are you? I’m fine. Oh, my question is when you die Do you have to wait for the return of Jesus Christ? How does this work? I haven’t heard three or four different things on that. I want to ask you what Jesus Christ is thinking about. The Bible is clear in 2 Corinthians 5-8. It says, absent from the body, present with the Lord.
So there’s your answer. When you die as a believer, you’re immediately absent from this body you’re in right now and you’re immediately present with the Lord in heaven. So that’s it. You don’t have to wait around at all. There’s no waiting at all instantaneously upon death. Your soul leaves your body and you’re immediately present with the Lord. Second Corinthians 5, 8. Okay. One other question now. So, therefore then, when Jesus returned to earth, when it said that the graves will be opened and everything will be degenerated into the cloud.
Now what part does that play? That’s the body. Your soul goes to be with the Lord at the moment of death, but you have to wait until the Rapture event to get your new body. So if you were to die today, you’d have to wait until the Rapture, let’s say the Rapture tomorrow you have to wait one day till you get your new body. Okay very well thank you sir. Alright you’re sure welcome. It was James in Plant City, Florida and now we have Fred in Tampa.
Fred welcome to Bibleline you are on the air. Make sure you turn your radio down Fred. Yeah Fred you’re welcome to Bibleline. Hey Hank how are you doing this morning? Good. I’ve got a question that’s troubled me for years. If you need to confess your sins in order to partake of the Lord’s Supper, does that mean you have to be sinlessly perfect to partake of the Lord’s Supper? Because I’ve always wondered about that. And I’ve heard different views on that.
I mean, the Catholic Church has a view that you have to be sinless, but of course they don’t even have the plan of salvation right to begin with. But anyway, I’ll hang up and listen to what you have to say. Thank you. Well, obviously we are seen as sinlessly perfect and as righteous as God the moment we trust Christ, the Bible says in Romans 3.22, the righteousness of God is upon all those that believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and without His righteousness we cannot even enter heaven or really do anything in the Christian life as a believer we are made righteous.
And in our daily state, in our actual state, we still sin. And as far as our walk, as far as fellowship is concerned, yes we need to confess our sins in order to partake. Now what the Roman Catholics have is the Mass, which is not the same thing as the Lord Supper. The Mass, according to the catechism of the Roman Catholic Church, is the unbloody sacrifice of Jesus Christ again to pay for sin. So, quote, and that’s what the Rome Catholic Church teaches at the Mass is the sacrifice of Calvary all over again.
The next question in my Roman Catholic Catechism says, is the Mass the same sacrifice as that of Calvary? Answer is the Mass is the same sacrifice as that of Calvary. So they teach that every time Christ is offered up at the Mass, He’s crucified all over again to pay for sin, which is a blasphemy against Christ. He only died once and will never die a second time. But the believer in our daily walk needs to examine himself and confess that he is a sinner and name by name those sins which he can remember or is aware of and Christ will forgive those sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
That has to do with fellowship, that has to do with the Christian walk. It has nothing to do with sonship or your relationship. As I was saying earlier with a previous car, I was born into my dad’s family and I became my dad’s son and it had nothing to do with whether I was obedient or disobedient. I was my dad’s son, whether I was obedient or disobedient, I am forever his son and nothing will ever change that. I cannot become unborn and born to somebody else’s family.
When you are saved, you’re saved and placed into God’s family by the new birth and your forever God’s son or daughter, and nothing will ever change that. Now as I lived in my father’s home while I was waiting to become about 18 when I left home to go to college and make my own life, then as long as I was living at home, I in In order to interact with my mom and my dad and to have intimate fellowship with them, I needed to confess when I did things wrong.
And if I broke one of my mother’s favorite dishes, I needed to say, Mom, I didn’t mean to, but I dropped your favorite dish and it broke and I apologize and I feel badly about it and I confess it to you. Well, that would make things right. But if I swept it up and hid it and denied it and everything else that would cause a strained relationship or rather my fellowship with my mom would be hindered by that. And so the same thing is true with God.
Once you are saved, you’re forever God’s son or daughter and nothing you ever do will ever change that. But your intimacy, your walk, your fellowship with the Lord is conditioned upon your behavior. I hope that helps clear it up a little bit. We have Donna in Plant City and she is asking me to explain 1 John 3 8. There it talks about the new birth and how that we have a sinless birth when we are born again that cannot sin.
1 John 3 9 says whosoever is born of God, thus not commit sin. So when a believer sins, it is really as a result of our old nature, our sinful nature that we inherit from Adam. If you have become born again, it says in 1 John 3 9, for God’s seed remaineth in the believer and he cannot sin because he is born of God. So the new birth is not capable of sinning, the old birth continues to want to sin.
So the believer has a struggle between a new nature and an old nature. First on 1 8 John the Apostle talks about the old nature and he says, if we say that we have no sin, Donna, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. And yet he goes over in chapter 3 and talks about the new birth and tells us that we have a nature within us that is not capable of sinning. So we have a sinful nature and we have a sinless nature in us as believers.
Paul talks about this in Romans 7 where he says, for I know that in me dwelleth no good thing, for to will is present with me, but how to perform that which is good I find that. And he goes on to say for the good that I would I do not, but the evil that I would not that I do. Paul struggled with these two natures and he told us the secret was Christ. We need to obey the Lord every day and put him first, and the power of the Holy Spirit, the power of Christ, can help us get victory over sin.
But no doubt about it. We have a sinless nature and a sinful nature. First John 3 8 is talking about that sinless nature versus the sin nature that every believer has. Okay. In fact, in Galatians 5 or 17, it says the flesh nature, lusteth against the spirit nature, vice versa so that we cannot do the things that we would. In other words, we have a struggle, a fight, a battle going on in the life of a believer between an old nature that wants to sin and a new nature that is not capable of sinning.
We’re going to go now to line with in Dade City. We have Troy in Dade City, Florida. Welcome to Vivo Line. How you doing now, Danny? Good. uh sometime in your future uh or you been you been doing real good on the uh program I’ve been listening off and on. I missed you on tv last night. Last time I caught you and you had to scroll you still use that bible. I sure do it’s in my lap right now it’s my Dead Sea Scroll.
Dead Sea Scroll. It’s all apart. Yeah, let’s go. Move on. Any of your pages now. I’m telling you. Yeah, but, oh, the main reason I was calling, in the near future, I want to know that we can have some of the theological dialogue for about five or ten minutes on the radio. You have some interesting topics and stuff, but some of them I want to ask you some questions I hope you have a great day.
I’m not aware of that. I didn’t see it. I don’t know. I would think she’s off-paced. so I don’t know if I was speaking in tongue and all this stuff. That’s what she’s doing. Yeah, I agree with you. And these kids slide something like 10, 11, 12, 12, 13 and stuff and I don’t think they know what they didn’t enter in their area. So I thought maybe you might have some knowledge about this stuff. It’s supposed to be on TV or Puffinar movie and they just showed a segment of it.
I just thought, uh, well I don’t know about that except by no tons as sees. The real gift is no longer being practiced and all these groups that try to keep that thing going are not. In fact, Pat Robertson sent down their chief reporter from Washington DC and one of the top cameraman from Virginia Beach to interview me about the tongues of the Azusa Street incident out in California. And it turned out that I guess my interview was too powerful.
They didn’t run it. And the chief reporter said he wanted it to be run, but they decided it would be too disruptive to play my interview on their program. So they never ran my interview. I guess it was too potent because I just gave scripture and I pointed out how it’s gone. It doesn’t exist today. And they didn’t want to run that. They had wanted an opposing view, but I don’t know if they realized how powerful an opposing view they would get when they got me.
But I can understand where you be coming from because a lot of people just talk, talking, which is most gibberish, they turn it into an idol, accepting and the death throw. The relation is complete because they chase in my hand at particular gifts. Well, you’re absolutely right. That becomes the most important thing to them. They get a lot of other doctrines wrong as a result because they all they think about as the Tony’s gift, which is not around today.
