We’re going to get into the Bible right now. The word repent is a word that causes a great deal of confusion because of the bad translation of repent into the English word. The English word repent doesn’t mean the same thing as the Greek word and that causes great difficulty. Actually the Greek word is metanoia and it simply means a change of mind. word occurs 58 times in the New Testament. Now the English word repent occurs 66 times, but 6 of those times it’s from two other words that are not the same original word and don’t mean the same thing.

But the primary word means a change of mind. And whenever you read, in the context in the New Testament books, you’ll find that simply is a change of mind usually about who is Jesus Christ? Is he the Savior or is he not? And people had to change your mind in order to be saved. But what I think is so interesting is that the equivalent word in the Old Testament translated to repent, whenever you read it, it occurs some 43 times and 37 of those 43 times, it is God who does the repenting.

And when you do the math and divide 37 by 43, you come out with 86 percent. Or 86 percent of the time, it’s God who repents. Now, if your definition of repent means to turn from sin or sorrow for sin, then you have a real theological problem. You’ve got a holy gun, a righteous God who’s not capable of sinning, turning from his sin left and right throughout the whole Old Testament. That’s right. 37 of the 43 times that repent occurs in the Old Testament, it is God that repents, not man.

Only six times does it say anything about man repenting in the Old Testament. So obviously it can’t mean to turn from sin and yet most evangelists will use it that way. In fact, you’ll hear of evangelists say, repent of your sin or turn from your sin. By the way, the phrase repent of sin. That phrase, guess how many times it occurs in your Bible? Well, you would think it was on every page, but the answer is zero. Now repentance is taught, but the phrase repent of sin does not even occur once in the Bible, not even once.

Isn’t that amazing? That was a shock to me as I began to study repentance. The phrase that is so often used by preachers, repent of sin doesn’t even occur. And what would it mean? If you know the correct meaning of repent, that the Greek word is metanoia or change your mind, it would mean change your mind about sin. Well, I don’t know about you, but I was raised as a little boy that sin was wrong. If I repent of my sin, change my mind about sin, would I all of a sudden and say, wow, sin is wonderful.

What if I missed all my life? Of course not. The point being is that it doesn’t mean to turn from sin. It means to change your mind. And the phrase repent of sin doesn’t even occur in the Bible. And it doesn’t make any sense even if it did. Because if you know the real meaning of repent, it would mean change your mind about sin. And I think most people, as I, was taught that sin was wrong. Would I already, would I all of a sudden think that sin was wonderful?

Obviously couldn’t be a correct answer and so we have such confusion But anyway, evangelists will say repent sin and then define it as turning from sin and When you think about that phrase it really means you have to change your life or stop sinning and Turn it away from your sin and that’s to add human works to the plan of salvation That violates everything we know about salvation, where the Bible says salvation is not of yourself, Ephesians 2 8.

It is not of works, Ephesians 2 9. It has nothing to do with self. Titus 3 5 says not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us. So we’re saved by God’s mercy, not as the outcome of something that we can do. righteous deed that we can do. And yet think about this. In those same evangelists in their meetings, they’ll have the choir singing, the crusade choir will be singing, just as I am, I come, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me.

What a great hymn. The hymn writer had it right. But it’s almost like nobody’s thinking. The evangelist is saying to the audience, turn from your sin. The choir is saying, no, don’t turn from your sin. Come just like you are. And then the evangelist comes back and says, no repent of your sin. Turn from your sin. And the choir again sings another stands of, just as I am, I come without one play. But that thy bud was shed for me.

Don’t you see that preachers aren’t thinking that uses? They’ll have a choir sing a song that says the opposite of what they’re saying. I would believe if you did have to turn from sin to be saved, but the choir at least should be singing the same anthem as the preacher’s preaching. It shouldn’t be contradictory. I could probably write that chorus anyway. Turn, turn, turn, turn right now. Turn or burn. toilet or boil for sake or bake and all the things I heard as a young person, the Bible doesn’t teach that.

The Bible teaches that we just come as we are, trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ at the cross of Calvary, trusting that he died and shed his blood to pay for his sins and the moment we trust him, God of an heaven saves us. That’s gotta be the best news you’ve ever heard. Now do you have to repent to be saved? Yes. But it is the change of mind. You know when I trusted Christ I knew nothing about the doctrine of repentance.

But as I looked back later and reflected I changed my mind about several things. The night I got saved I had always been heard in my church that I had to work my way to heaven. I found out from the Bible that salvation was not a horse. I changed my mind and believed that God was telling the truth, that salvation was by faith alone in Christ and not based upon my works. Also that night I changed my mind about Christ.

I never knew, believe it or not, in my church what they never taught that Jesus was God. And all of a sudden I saw the scripture that Jesus was God in flesh. And I changed my mind about that. I remember saying to myself, wow, if he’s God, no wonder he can do. What ever he promises. Certainly he can forgive sin. Certainly he can raise the dead. He can do all these things because he’s gone. And I learned that at 18 for the first time in my life, the night that I got saved.

So I was obviously misled as to what the meaning of repentance was. But when I finally found out what it was, I realized that I did repent. So in getting saved, you do change your mind. mind when you trust Christ. Let me say it this way. You can repent without believing, but you cannot believe without repenting. What does that mean? You can change your mind about Christ, about salvation, about works or salvation or whatever, and yet not believe or trust Christ is Savior.

But you cannot trust Christ as your Savior without changing your mind in the process. So what we’re saying here is that biblical faith or saving faith includes and implies that change of mind is called repentance. So when you believe or trust Christ, you do repent because you change your mind from whatever you were previously trusting in to trusting in Christ. Isn’t that great? Well I pray that you have changed your mind about how to be be saved and have trusted Jesus Christ and His death as the only means of your salvation.

Trusting that salvation is a gift. It’s by faith alone. It’s not by works. And the moment you trust Christ, God of in heaven will save you. And you can be assured of it because the Bible says so. I’m Dr. Hank Flintstrom. This is Bibleline and we’re coming to you live from Tampa, Florida, from our studios here at the Calvary community church from the pastor and by the way we have classes tonight. That’s right. We’re in a five week series.

This is week number two. We’ll do class three and four tonight from seven till nine o’clock. If you’re driving distance, you’re welcome to come and join in on this class. And if you’re in another city, you can order the CDs or the DVDs of this series and you’ll find it very helpful. It’s called 10 vital doctrines. Doctors are the platform that we build our Christian life on. If your doctrines aren’t sound, then your Christian life will not be sound.

As the Bible tells us that first up doctrine is the platform that we build our Christian faith on. You need to know what the Bible has to say. We’re going to cover 10 vital doctrines. This will be class 3 and You’re welcome to come out and be a part of that. Well, we’re going to go to the questions that we have Mark down in Port Charlotte, Florida. He’s been patiently waiting and Mark, welcome to Bibleline. You are on the air.

Mark, are you there? Mark, you’re on the air. Port Charlotte, Florida. Mark, I hope you’re there. Yes, yes. I can barely hear you. I’m on your cell phone. I’m driving. Okay, the question I had was, I’ve been attending a non-denominational church and the pastor on pre-jizz and speech, I was talking with a Christian brother of mine and he said that he was saying that a non-denominational church is not really a church to attend because, you know, it really doesn’t, in other words, one particular doctrine.

He told me to turn to my concordance, my Bible, and they looked at the word non-denominational. I wasn’t able to sign that word. Can you give me your viewpoints on the non-monetional church? All right. Sure, that won’t be in the Bible. But we’re a non-denominational. It means you’re not a part of a denomination or an organization like the Memphis, the Methodist Lutherans, the Catholics, and so on. And New Church, therefore, is not controlled by a hierarchy. Some churches, the pastors are required to teach what that denomination teaches.

Many of the Reformation churches have still a lot of bad baggage and bad teaching from the Reformation time. They’re still required to teach those doctrines even though they are not necessarily correct. I know of one pastor that his whole congregation was cast out of the buildings that they were in because they were owned by the denomination, and it was basically over sprinkling as versus immersion of believers at baptism and that they did not believe in infant baptism, which is not taught in the Bible.

And so the… They had to, they got kicked out. The church, the hierarchy, the denomination kicked them out. There’s nothing wrong with an independent church, but hopefully it’s dependent upon the Lord and is getting his doctrine from the Bible. So I believe there’s nothing wrong with that at all and you’re not going to find that word in the Bible. But obviously if you read the New Testament, the early churches all started from scratch and they weren’t connected with any denomination except that hopefully they were all true to the Bible and were proclaiming the same message.

And obviously the letters of the New Testament were written to instruct and to correct those early churches. And of course that’s what we were talking about earlier. In 2 Timothy 3 16 it says, all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable. And the first thing on the list is doctrine which are taught in the Bible. And then secondly it says, for reproof for correction, for instruction in righteousness. So the Bible is the book that instructs us and corrects us and allows us to grow as the Christian and the following verse in 2 Timothy 3 17 says that we might be completely furnished unto all good works.

So the Word of God is there to mature us and to completely equip us to do the job and so we really don’t need some outside power that would tell us what to preach on or what not to preach on. So no problem with an undeniable church as long as they have their doctrines in line with the Bible, then you have got a good church there. Alright thank you for calling in. We have some open lines right now if you want to call it 1-800-576-3771.

That’s 1-800-576-3771. We have Michael in Largo, Florida, calling in, leaving an off-air question. He says was Nicodemus saved. Well, he certainly was not saved when he came to Christ at midnight, and the Lord then told him he had to be born again, and he told him how to be born again by trusting Christ as Savior. And John 3, 16 was really Christ explaining to Nicodemus how to be saved. For God’s to love the world, Nicodemus, that he gave his only begotten son, that’s Jesus.

Nicodemus, that whosoever that Nicodemus, if you would believe or trust in Christ, Nicodemus, you would not perish, but Nicodemus, you would have everlasting life. Well, there’s no verse that says Nicodemus got saved, but obviously you see him later with the beliefs. Here he takes a position in John chapter 19 where after Christ was crucified and they were We’re going to take the body of Christ. It says in verse 39, there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night.

That’s when he got saved in John chapter 3. And he says here, and brought a mixture of Mur and Allos, about a hundred pound weight. So he was the one who brought the Mur and Allos and the Linen’s trips to Barry Christ with. And that’s exciting. And so we know that obviously he was a believer because he came and helped prepare the body of Christ for burial. So good question Michael and hopefully that passage in John’s Gospel chapter 19 in verse 39 will help convince you that I believe Nicodemus without a doubt got saved.

Offair Tom in Tampa, Florida calls up and says was Judas saved because it says that Judas Repented well that is one of the few times when the Greek word is not metanoia And it doesn’t mean to change your mind. It means actually sorrow or regret so Judas Was sorrowful over what he did he had betrayed innocent blood and He regretted that he had done it, but he never changed his mind and trusted Christ as his Savior. So Judas was never saved and the Bible tells us he went to his own place, which we believe was in the heart of the earth where the unsaved dead were it went and are still there and will be until after the thousand year earthly reign of Christ.

So thank you very much for that call. We now have Betty up in Beverly Hills. . . . . . . . . Florida and Betty, welcome to Bibleline. You’re on the air. Yes, good morning, Brother Lindstrom. I can hardly hear you. I’m sorry, but I’ll try to speak up. Alright, thank you. You’ve taught us before. Bob and I are here like little sponges just absorbing the word of God. Thank you. We are, you’ve taught us in the past that the last seven years, the tribulation, the last seven years of the 70 weeks of Daniel, Well, that once more we work back to being under the law.

Did I understand that correctly? That is exactly right. Yes. And now what I’m perplexed about is, will the Holy Spirit be in dwelling those who get saved during the tribulation? Will He stay to indwell them? Or will it go back? We heard back to what like it was under the law. It’ll be back as it was during the Old Testament days. and uh… now i believe the hundred forty or thousand probably will be involved in power as it says they’re sealed in chapter seven of revelation i believe that ceiling is probably the s e a l i n g of the holy spirit but otherwise the majority of the believers will be just as they were in the old testament times and the holy spirit is going to be present in evangelism and bringing them to christ but he doesn’t want to like he does in this present age

Thank you so much because regarding the 144,000 was the next part of my question. You keep up the good work and keep feeding us. Thank you a lot, Betty, and take care. Sounds like a wonderful place to live. Beverly Hills, Florida, north of Tampa, probably 150 miles or more, north of us. We have Edgar in Petersburg, Virginia, and Edgar calls in and he says expound upon Mark 9, 42 to 47. So here Jesus is talking and warning against going to hell.

If you are an unbeliever you need to pay attention. He says in this passage 3 times verse 44 of Mark 9 verse 46 of Mark 9 and also verse 48 of Mark 9 that hell is a place where your soul will never die and the fire is not quenched. So three times he says that verse 44, 46, and 48 where the soul will die not and the fire is not quenched or the fire will never be put out. So he begins up here and says in verse 42, who’s whoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me?

Here’s a child that believes in Christ. It’s better for him to have a millstone hanged about his neck and he were cast into the sea. Well, a millstone is a very, very heavy stone used to roll around on top of the grain to crush it and to prepare it for baking and so on. And that would be a heavy stone. So it would be better for that person to have a millstone hanged about his neck and cast into the seat.

He’s warning here about the degree of punishment and hell for a lost person who is hindering in causing a little believer to stumble. And then it talks here in verse 43, if your hand offends the, cut it off. It’s better for the inner into life maimed than having two hands to go into hell into the fire that shall never be quenched. So what he’s saying here is if you were to maybe lose your hand and through losing your hand you would come to know Christ you would be better off than to have two hands and be physically hold to be cast into the eternal lake of fire.

In other words you don’t want to go to hell. At any cost you want to be delivered and of course Christ paid that price and when you trust Christ as your Savior, you become saved eternally. Christ is warning here very powerfully that hell is the place where the soul will not die and the fire will never be quenched. And obviously He is warning, don’t let anything hinder you from coming to know Christ. If it took the loss of a hand for you to come to know Christ, it would be better to lose that hand and go through life without a hand, then to be cast into hell with two hands and a completely whole physical body.

We have rich over in Daytona Beach on the air and welcome to the Bible. you. you you you you you you Good morning, Dr. Lindstrom. I can hardly hear you. Well, I don’t know what the problem is, but we’ll do the best we can. Okay, you sound so far away. Anyway, my question to you this morning is, how do you truly hear from God, whether it be the Holy Spirit or because, you know, sometimes you have, you know, the voice of your head or, you know, you don’t know if it’s temptation or what, but how do you truly separate that?

and really, you know what I’m saying, Dr. I sure do. In fact, I remember hearing Christians as a little boy saying that God spoke to me this morning and this and that and the other. And it drove me nuts because I was taking things very literally. And I thought, well, he hasn’t done that for me. And I haven’t heard you talk from out of the wall or out of the ceiling or out of the sky. And I was misled by that.

and obviously he speaks to us through his word. As we read the word of God, he gives us direction and so on. And so if you’re looking for an audible voice, you’re going to be totally misled. Right. OK. It’s a great time. You’re going to have to hold on there. We’ll be right back. Don’t go away. Keep you ready, Darlson. Right where it is. Don’t go away. Bibleline will be back in a moment. Give us a call at 1-800-576-3771.

That’s 1-800-576-3771. Well, I’m Dr. Englund. It’s great to be with you today. Again, thank you for calling in. And we appreciate hearing from you. We had callers today from lots of different places. And we hope that if you have a question, you’ll call in as well. Or leave an off-air question. You can do that, by the way, by going to the website on our radio pages a place to actually log in your question if you want to leave it off the air.

I have a new track that I’ve written, same in format as the older track that we used called, Emma Going to Heaven, which is a great evangelistic tool. I’ve written a whole brand new series of questions that are more contemporary and I believe a very effective tool in leading people to Christ.

We hope that you’ll join us for the second half hour Bibleline and if your station doesn’t carry it, go on the internet and you can catch it there 24-7. But hold on, we’ll go to Bibleline part two right now. you like to call by the line and ask doctor lins from a question you can just pick up your phone and dial one eight hundred five seven six three seven seven one that’s one eight hundred five seven six thirty seven seventy one now here again is doctor hank lins from all right we’re back from that break and this is by blood and doctor lins from it is Great to be with you and we’re coming to you live from our studios here in Tampa, Florida at the Calvary Community Church where I pastor.

You’re always welcome to come by and visit us on a worship day or during the week you can visit our Resource Center. Open every day till about 4.30 Eastern time in the afternoon. We are going to go back now to Rich who’s been patiently holding through the break and we’ll take his second question right now. Rick, are you still there? Yes, yes sir, I’m still here. Okay. Yes, I was reading in 1st, 1st Samuel 23, and it said David inquired of the Lord.

And you know, how did David know it wasn’t his own voice? You know what I’m saying? That’s why I’m trying to get to. Because you hear it all the time, people say, think you should say, the Lord sent me to tell you. the Lord didn’t tell me, how am I supposed to know that he’s telling me the truth? You see the structure, I can? I sure do, and I understand exactly what you’re going through, because I was raised with a lot of that as a brand of believer.

It plagued me. But actually, if what you feel the Lord is wanting you to do matches up with scripture, then you can know truly as the Lord. There are three things I think if you write them down. Number one, the way that God leads is He shows you a need generally. So there is some need, something you’re drawn to, something that you feel ought to be done or accomplished. Secondly, God gives you a desire to meet that need and to accomplish whatever needs to be done.

And then thirdly, you have the ability to meet that need and solve that problem or whatever it is. And if you have all three, I believe you then have a confirmation that it is from God. So, and of course it has to line up with Scripture. God will never have you do anything contrary to what the Word of God says. I’ve had some people come to me that want to get married and one is marrying, the Christian is marrying an unsay person.

I say, well, you shouldn’t marry an unbeliever. And they say, well, I prayed about it. But it doesn’t matter if you prayed about it. If whatever you think you have a yes answer to in prayer, contradict scripture, then it’s not from God. And in that case, I would say, well, you didn’t get your answer from God, even though you prayed about this marriage. If you’re a believer, marrying an unbeliever, that is unscriptural. And so therefore, it’s not from God.

So basically, if God shows you a need and you have a God-given desire to meet that need and you also have the ability to meet that need, that’s really the Lord saying go and go ahead and do that thing that He is pressing upon your mind or heart to do. You know, let me just say this before you go. You know, for the last, I don’t know, maybe year and a half, I’ve been really trying of pursue and find the lore.

You know what I’m saying? Just really, really try to pursue. And it seems like I couldn’t get anywhere. I would listen to different radio programs. And within five minutes, you could tell, this is foolishness or this is Robbie, she doesn’t make sense. But there’s something about your program that is really truthful. And you could go back and put things together. And it really, really makes sense. Now I’m not going to say I believe in 100% of everything that you’re saying, but I do believe in a lot of things you’re saying because I can verify for myself.

So I just want to thank you and if I do have any more questions, can I call back if there’s time or something like that? You certainly can, Richard, anytime. All right, Dr. Thank you very, very much. All right. Appreciate it. Thanks for that nice compliment. And you know the Bible does make sense. And oftentimes there’s so much nonsense out there in Christianity that doesn’t make any sense. And you can know that it’s not coming from God when that happens because truth is simple and truth is plain and it will ring clear when you’re hearing the truth.

We’re going to go now to Bob in Virginia and Bob, welcome to Bibleline. Hello. Hi Bob. How do you have a question for you? I’ve heard you talk about God doesn’t do miracles and things like that or tongues anymore. What are you basing that on? Well, I based it on the New Testament record in Church history and so on. The Bible says that these special gifts were given to confirm the spoken word as the early church began. And in the first Corinthians 13 in particular, it tells us that some of the spectacular gifts would be rendered unnecessary as the church moved along.

In fact, it was really talking about the church in its infancy. special help and that’s why God gave those miracle gifts. But they’re gone today and first Corinthians 13 8 says that tongues, the gift of knowledge, the gift of prophecy would all cease when the New Testament record was complete. And we believe by the end of the first century when the book of Revelation finally tapped off the Bible that the gift of tongues ceased and early church history verifies that nobody was speaking in tongues and you can go all the way through the middle ages the dark ages and through the reformation uh…

martin loother john wesley john kelvin uh… all these people didn’t speak in tongues and this modern movement began just a hundred years ago in year nineteen oh six in uh… as is the street california and this is a gibberish this is a counterfeit movement that’s going on today There’s nobody today that I have yet met that I’ve been looking for that speaks in a genuine foreign language, a specific dialect of that language without any training, and that gift is not around today but that was the real gift given in the Bible.

So, Church History verifies that it has ceased. It’s just not around. And has the metarone. I look at 1 Corinthians 13, I see where it says, and that which is perfect can come back which is part of what we’ve done away with. But I find that the perfect area of talking about it when Jesus comes back, because it also says that knowledge will be done away with when that which is perfect and coming. We have knowledge to regain knowledge.

I look in Ephesians where it talks about the fourfold or fivefold ministry, however you view it, that they were given until the law come to the Statue of Christ. And we obviously aren’t there yet. So we still have to have a possible profit through engines, pasted and teachers, according to that, until we reach the fullness, the church hasn’t arrived yet. In the church history, there’s all throughout. You can find tongues being spoken. No, that’s not true. In fact, Mom, basically the perfect there in 1 Corinthians 13, 10 is the word of God.

It’s all neuter in the Greek. In the Greek language, every word has a gender ending. the verbs, the adverbs, the nouns, the pronouns, everything has a gender ending. It’s all neutral. And it cannot refer to Christ because Christ in the Greek is masculine. It’s Christos. The O.S. ending makes it masculine. Just like the word for God, theos, the O.S. ending makes it masculine. We’ll find that all of this is neuter. Some say, well, this is the love chapter. It’s when love comes and everybody loves one another.

It can’t refer to love either because amazingly love in the Greek is feminine. The Bible is called that which is perfect and that is a neuter word and it has neither male or female gender to it. And it’s the Bible is talking about. We have a wonderful book here in our Resource Center called New Testament Teaching on Tons by Merle Unger where he takes all these Greek words apart for you and basically shows without a doubt that this whole chapter is referring to the New Testament record being completed and when that would happen.

And by the way the gift of knowledge is not that we don’t have knowledge today but it would be a perfect recall of the events in the life of Christ. For example, what happened there at the feeding of the 5,000? What about the two loaves and the two fishes and the little barley loaves and how they were multiplied? And when you got all done, you had 12 baskets left over and how Christ performed that whole thing? Well, obviously, they had perfect recall before the New Testament record was written down and we can go back and refer to those passages, those events were given to us by the gift of knowledge and then the gift of prophecy wasn’t as it’s being used like in not any churches today, it’s more like that’s like a…

He’s going to your psyche hotline or to a palm reader, but the real gift of prophecy was to tell you the next event on God’s program is the Rapture and then we’ll follow the tribulation period during which the Antichrist will rise to power and then of course Christ will come back and defeat him and set up his thousand year kingdom and Satan will be loosed for a little season. There will be one final battle and then Satan will be cast into hell and we see a new heavens and a new earth and we go on into eternity.

That gift is no longer necessary today, the gift of prophecy, because we have everything we need to know in prophecy now written down by the Spirit of God through the apostles in the New Testament record. And so the gifts of the spectacular ones are gone and that passage talks about it. And it says, when I was a child, I was faking the child and whatever, and then I grew up a put away with childless things. The childless things were these spectacular gifts that were aids to the church in its infancy but are now gone.

We don’t need them anymore and they have ceased. Bob, there is no body speaking in tongues today. Do you claim to speak in tongues? Definitely do. What language do you speak in? Well, wait, wait, let me just finish. The first thing is, I’ve heard your example of having somebody speak in a language to somebody carrying a conversation, but that’s not what it is because if you take a look, first Corinthians 12 and first Corinthians 14 have two different types of gifts here, and there is a language called, I’d say when you speak in an unknown tongue, you’re speaking of tongue, I should say, because unknown is not in the Greek.

you speak at that you’re speaking to God no man understands it because he’s speaking God there’s a prayer for that which and then there is if you walk out in the evangelistic prayer it’s on what you’re going to do that will go out to the lady up in one place that in print into you are not taking demand but the God and man can’t understand it well the reason why is it that you’re talking about first Corinthians 14 to the Corinthian believers were not using isn’t it the gift as it intended to be used to if the lost they were speaking in a foreign language in the Greek church at Corinth.

I’ve been to Corinth many times and the people in the Corinthian church didn’t understand the foreign language. He should have been speaking to them in Greek, but the person was speaking in a foreign language. And Paul says that nobody here understands you. That’s because he was speaking a real language to the wrong group and of course God understood Greek. So this is talking about the misuse of the real gift. It’s not a special prayer language to talk to God with.

God understands English real well and he doesn’t need a separate special language to reach him with. An adverse is really talking about the Corinthian believers using the wrong gift. Then it goes on in verse 9 to continue to explain that. He says to the Corinthian believers, except you speak by the tongue, words easy to be understood. How shall it known what is being spoken? So nobody in the church could understand it because they didn’t understand that foreign language. So he says you’ve got to speak in the language of the hearer and God of course understands it but nobody else does.

So there’s no heavenly prayer language at all endorsed in the Bible. It does say that you’re not speaking granted people can interpret that different but let Let me ask you this subjectively, if God was trying to, let’s say, you just speak in tongues, would you reject that or would you let God have his way because God can do everything anything? So we know that these haven’t passed away unless God doesn’t want to enact them. But if he wanted to enact them now he could or else he couldn’t do anything.

Well, of course he could if he wanted to, but nobody’s doing it. All the major denominations that claim they have tongues all send their missionaries to language school to learn the foreign language, then they send them out and they communicate with these people and teach them to do the gibberish. The gibberish, by the way, has been done. I have missionaries that tell me that these people go to language school and they come down here and try to reach these people that have been in the jungle all their life and They try to do the gibberish with them, but they already do the gibberish.

The witch doctor has been doing that for centuries and centuries. He says it’s craziness because they already have the gibberish, but they spend all this effort to learn the language of the people, to travel here to the jungle and reach them so they can teach them how to do the gibberish, which their witch doctor has already done an effective job with. This gift is done by all the world religions, this gibberish, and it’s done by the Mormons which are not even close to being Christian, and so nobody today is speaking in the biblical gift of tongues.

I do agree with what is argued by the major world religions and by the people of course and others in ancient history. People like William J. Sam because Goodman and others are studied on glossolalia, dinner glossolalia, things like that. But to discount and say it doesn’t happen now is to say, God, you can’t do it or I know everything and I know that no word that happens because it can be happening. be in the fear of the weather. So maybe because you don’t know it doesn’t mean that’s not happening.

Well, Bob, Jesus, I mean, the Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 13 that it would cease. The Greek word there means to come to an uttering complete halt. And apparently it did 2,000 years ago, and I don’t see anybody today anywhere speaking in a known foreign language gift without any training. I’m sure to thank you for your call, and it’s been an interesting discussion, but There is no more tongues going on right now. That is the gift of tongues without any training.

There are many different language groups in the Bible. I want to talk about nations and kindreds and tongues. It’s talking about specific real language groups around the world. We have Robert off the air from Pompano Beach calling in. Apparently, he listens on the internet down there in Pompano. And he says in the Gospel of Matthew, is it primarily directed toward the Millennial Kingdom? And the answer is yes. The book of Matthew presents Christ as a king. We have uniquely things in the Gospel of Matthew that refer to the Kingdom and to Christ being the King and how that he offered the Kingdom to the Jewish nation and they rejected him.

So you’re absolutely right. It is then that book of Matthew that we have the unique phrase, Kingdom of Heaven, which is really better said as the Kingdom of the Heavens where the Heavens will rule over the earth when Christ comes back to set up His earthly Kingdom, a thousand year Kingdom of peace on earth. Good will toward men. Robert in Pompano Beach, Florida, thank you for calling in. Off air. Albert in Richmond, Virginia calls in. He says someone spoke in tongues in his church and then interpreted his own prophetic message is this biblical.

The answer is no it is not because the real gift is gone and nobody today is speaking in the biblical language of tongues. What they are doing is a gibberish and this is not have got it all. The real gift was to be used for evangelism and if you have a chance to talk to that person, tell them let’s go out and do some soul winning, have him lead someone to Christ with his gift. He can’t do it. It’s not a biblical gift at all.

1 Corinthians 14, 22 says, tons are for a sign, not to those that believe, not to those that believe, not to those that believe, but to those that believe not. It’s to be used with the unsaved. out with him and knock on doors and let him cut loose in his gibberish. I think he’ll probably slam the door in his face. It is not assigned to lost people today. We have Lawrence calling in from Tampa, Florida, and he says, what is the difference between all the denominations?

And the difference is basically the man made beliefs that these different denominations focus in on. The Bible should really bring us all together, but many churches overrule the Bible with their own beliefs that they read into the Bible, and therefore they are divided. It’s certainly not of God to be divided into all these different groups, and true believers will just feel a very real sense of knowing another believer as though they have known them all their life. I have met people in other parts of the world I have never seen before but when I find a genuine believer we are on the same page and we believe the same things and it really works out great.

We have ID from St. Louis, Missouri. on up there every day in St. Louis and we welcome you to the program. Welcome ID. Yes. Do you have a question for us? Yes, I do. All right, go ahead. Okay, actually what I have for you is everything that I would like you to get qualified. You keep saying about repentance. It’s not from sin. Okay, what is the greatest sin? What is the greatest sin that sin can believe I could believe?

I’m… And, uh, if you then change your mind about believing which picture repents for the sinner can’t believe, would that be correct? That would be correct, but that’s a, uh, it’s a change of mind, yes. Yeah, that would be. So, what would be your repents from sin and what you want sin for, not believing in it? But, but it’s not such a savior. Right, but you know evangelists use the phrase repent of sin. It doesn’t occur in the Bible and and that’s just misleading because they defined repent wrong But the true meaning is right you do change your mind and it’s about the sin of unbelief and when you change your mind about Unbelief and put your belief or trust in Christ God saves you.

Yes You’re right on ID. Yes, and now also, you know, you keep on somebody who just who needs to change his mind and subscribe, has to change his mind from his heart. His heart is his mind, his soul. It may not be the organ heart, but somebody who just maybe is a funny cation or a sadal. He just prayed a prayer. I don’t know if he doesn’t even sincerely feel it. Well, I’m sure you’re saying, and the word heart really means your mind.

Your mind, right. And when you change your mind, which is what repent means, that metah means change, noia means mind, you change your mind about whatever you’re trusting in, and trust Jesus, then God saves you. We’re not talking about a form and a way you pray a prayer and you’re saved. You must trust Christ. And when you change your mind from whatever you’ve been previously trusting in to trusting Christ, God saves you. Yes. You got a wrap. Yeah, thank you very much.

I think I have a little disagreement with, I know you’re a well knowledgeable man and you have a lot of, most of the things, right? You said you believe in God’s miracle. You believe God can do miracle today. And any time somebody come in and say, God do miracles in their life, try to disagree, God does miracle. I don’t know. I don’t know if it is, I believe God can do any miracle. it doesn’t before, do you think any, how, any way you want to take?

Well, I try to say that I believe in divine miracles, but I don’t believe in divine healers. There is a difference where when Christ originally sent out His disciples, He sent them out with the gift of healing, and they could raise the dead, which I don’t see happening today. They could replace missing flesh. I don’t see that happening today. I don’t see their restoring sight to the blind. I have several blind people in my church that if I knew of someplace where I could take them and get them healed, I would do it.

But they’ve been to all these different healing meetings and they went away with their blindness. They’ve been blind from birth and they’re not going to be seeing in this lifetime. Now I think they’re going to see 2020 in heaven. That’s what you do not know because I don’t know God can decide to open the eyes tomorrow. It doesn’t by the way. It can’t go through anybody but I believe that God can do miracles whenever he chooses to. I believe he can, ID, but it’s not happening today.

It’s not documented by anybody. The modern healers are really a charade and it’s not really true. people in my church that have been hurt at these healing meetings not healed and that’s scary and you don’t get to hear that very often but I have people that will stand up in my church and testify how they have permanent injuries from being so-called slain in the spirit and falling down in these meetings. That’s not from God at all. Yeah, I don’t believe it’s from God.

I believe it’s just some good belief that I can’t come back from. It’s miracle anytime once I don’t cut it down. I don’t disagree with that either. So we’re on the same page with that too. I certainly believe God wants to. He can do it. Yeah, thank you very much for taking my call. I’m going with this one. And I appreciate your ministry. I do listen on the internet for a little bit. And I try to. Support us a little as I cannot, as well also.

And I just want to get this information on you and get it to speak to you. May God bless you and keep you and keep the good Lord going. Thanks a lot, I did. Take care. God bless. All right. That was ID from St. Louis, Missouri calling in. We’re coming up on the end of our show. Hope everybody’s trusted the Lord as their Savior. And if you haven’t, that you would just say, Lord, I’m a sinner. I don’t understand much.

But I do believe Jesus died for me. me, paid for my sin was buried and rose again from the dead. And the moment you trust Christ, God of in heaven, will save you.
